Starting point is 00:00:05 Welcome into the Ringiverse. This is, of course, the Ringers' Nexus podcast feed for all things. Fandom, we are, Steve, the architect, almond, the builder, and tinker of things. Jomi, the explainer on, you've got questions. He's got answers. Old man, Van, he of the receding resurgent
Starting point is 00:00:19 hairline, Coke, baby Chuck, the 24-carric closer. Together, we are known as I the Midnight Boys. We're right back after this. That's all my friends that are 24. Okay. I was about to say, you walking in. You got the hat on.
Starting point is 00:00:44 You got the merch. It's moving. different. We can't get ahead. No, beanie. You know what's funny? So I did, like, went over there, talked to people and stuff like that. And I was talking to this one guy that was there. He's a great guy. Nice guy. And I did this joke that I like to do.
Starting point is 00:00:59 Oh. This little thing. And this is how I know they have good people working over there. Because I was like, so, 824. Hmm. What do y'all do here? That's a good question. He was like,
Starting point is 00:01:14 uh, okay. This is a film and television production company. I was like, what does A-24 mean? He's actually a funny story. He was like, one of the guys that found the company was driving on some highway in Germany and the highway was A-24. So the name both has a meaning, but it doesn't have a meaning, but it's very cool
Starting point is 00:01:35 name and stuff like that. We got to about 10 minutes into this conversation and I was like, God damn it. He was like, what? I'm the asshole. There's something I like to do while ask an obvious question. And if the person goes, come on, man, you know who we are. Then they're the asshole. Right.
Starting point is 00:01:52 But if they don't do that and they play it humbly, after about, I'd say two minutes, I'm the asshole for keeping the big going. I thought you were going to end the strip, you're like, damn, I thought y'all was neon. That would be weird. You mean I'm not at Bleaker Street? Oh, what? Is that what the fuck? There's not neon.
Starting point is 00:02:11 This isn't bronze studios? No. Okay. Files on socials. At the Midnight Boys pod on Insta and TikTok at Ring ofverse on Insta, Twitter, Facebook, and TikTok. Jemmy. Need y'all liking them social clips, baby. You know, we're working hard out here.
Starting point is 00:02:25 Oh, we know you working hard out here, Joe. We're working hard here, man. Yes. Eat your vegetables. Well, don't eat your vegetables. Actually, this is a bad time of eat your vegetables. But, you know, send the likes. Do the thing.
Starting point is 00:02:34 You know, so help a brother out. Is it crazy that in none of the, like, dystopian futures, they're always like, damn, they're going to be, like, burning books and did it not putting y'all in prisons. But they're never like, y'all all going to have diaries. everybody in America are going to be shit in their pants. They don't, they never tell you that. And the worst part is like, this is like, it's, like, we live in California, you know, this is like the health capital of the world.
Starting point is 00:02:56 Everybody want to eat. Go to a caver, go to sweet green, whatever. You can't even go there and get your Vegas? It's like Russia roulette when I go into my, like, fucking fridge. I'm like, damn, can I eat this fruit? You probably can. Yeah. If you want to be completely safe.
Starting point is 00:03:09 Well, the farmer's market, I think, is okay. It's, it's, it's, it's not. It's not like, it's probably safer, but you do have to be careful. You can't just go willy-nilly. So no leafy greens. If you cook your vegetables to 150, 158 degrees should be good. I'll say this. This is what I'll say to everyone.
Starting point is 00:03:27 You got to look at the bright side of things. What's the bright side of everybody having massive diarrhea? Well, you either get your nutrition or you lose some weight. Right. Which if you're on a salad and heavy diet anyway. Jesus, crazy. You're dropping some pounds, you know what I mean? Okay, but then the side effect is you got to have
Starting point is 00:03:44 diarrhea. How long does it last? It could last for days or weeks or maybe even months. It's tough. You can't be a... One case? Last months? I will say there was a woman who was like, yo, I had diarrhea for
Starting point is 00:03:58 two weeks and I'm still getting nauseous. I'm like, I can't be shit. I can't do it. By the way, you guys voted for it. So anyway. Who is we? Who's you guys? Somebody in here. Nobody here. Not me. We're on YouTube. Like, comment, subscribe, share.
Starting point is 00:04:11 You can watch every Midnight Boys and House of Art episode on YouTube.com backslash at Ring Reverse and also on Edit Spotify. We're gonna remind. They tapped into Talk to Thrones. It's a show that comes on after Game of Thrones. It features Chris Ryan.
Starting point is 00:04:28 Malar Rubin. Jordan Robinson. Sometimes Van Leith. My friends. Sometimes Van Leith. And they talk about Game of Thrones. It's a long-running show. When did it talk to Thrones first job? Because it was originally on HBO
Starting point is 00:04:39 with Concepcion, Mal, Andy, and Chris. So, but now it's new iteration, and it's better than ever, all right, they like to drink coffee. All right, this Friday, button mash continues. Now, here we go. Splatoon Raiders.
Starting point is 00:04:55 Yeah. What's that? Okay, I know Splatoon. What's Splatun Raiders? I think it's like an action-oriented spin on Splatoon. It's not like shooters someone where, like, campaign-based.
Starting point is 00:05:07 That's not I can tell I'm old as shit. Like, my just went blank. I'm like, what? Don't worry. It's not, yeah. Y'all aren't on the Twitter. It's weird. You don't get the first platoon on the Twitch.
Starting point is 00:05:16 That's like Barry Gordy. I don't know very Gordy. You need to know the squid kids. I will say the funny thing about driving in LA too. Sometimes I'll see billboards for movies that I know going to make like a billion dollars. Like I saw what for like, they got a Paul Patrol movie, but this one about dinosaurs. And I'm like, yeah. They went 65 million years ago, the Paw Patrol, bro.
Starting point is 00:05:36 Copaganda in the Dragana in the Station. And they're like, the Paw Patrol, they got a time machine. and they went back to subjugate the dinosaurs? Crazy. I don't know what the story is, but we were in the theater to watch the invite, which was phenomenal. Right.
Starting point is 00:05:52 Okay. And we're in the theater watching. I'm like, I'm looking at the Paw Patrol. I'm like, yo, man, why are you on the back of a T-ray? Like a little Dalmatian? Or what if it's like Jurassic Park where there was an experiment that went wrong and the only people that could save the planet is the ball patrol.
Starting point is 00:06:07 It could be that the Paw Patrol is actually in modern day times. I didn't think about that. They got to go to Isla Nubar and be like, yo. How many wolves would it take to take down a T-Rex? How many wolves? Yes, like a pack. Like how many wolves? More than you think.
Starting point is 00:06:23 Probably like 2,000 wolves. I was going to say like a thousand. Like maybe it's got to be like a thousand. Once you get the Achilles tending of the of the shit, because it got a little arm. Yeah. That tail swipe is doing damage. Oh, bro. It's tough.
Starting point is 00:06:37 I don't know. T-Rexes are faster than you think, too. What do we know about the T-Rex in terms of like how tough the hide is? and all of the skin. You never know. It might be impervious to the bite of the wolf. A lot of wolves scratching and biting,
Starting point is 00:06:51 it gets fucking tired and shit. But I mean, you got the stomp, man. It weighs up to nine tons, and it's over 40 feet. It could just fall over. I don't think the wolves can get it. If a T-Rex falls over, can it get back up, though?
Starting point is 00:07:04 I'm not sure. I mean, they get back up. Yeah, I mean, you got to sleep. Yeah, exactly. Nobody's seen a T-Rex get up, to be fair. That's, in none of these movies, do we see them get back up? Nobody's seen a T-Rex ever.
Starting point is 00:07:15 Could be bullshit. I'm just joking. That's Christian school talking. All right. And Halo campaign evolved. What's that? Basically, it's a big remake of the very first Halo. And it's on PlayStation now. Okay.
Starting point is 00:07:30 Because nothing means anything. We're losing recipes, man. That's disgusting. Wait a minute. Yes. You heard that right. You can play Halo on your PS5. This country has gone to garbage. Is the Xbox discontinuing?
Starting point is 00:07:45 No, no, no. I mean, that's kind of the heavily rumored thing. Xbox had a huge layoff culling recently. A bunch of studios. A bunch of studios got gone. So Xbox is about to be out of here. Might be. Not that's not, we don't know that for sure, but that's like the prevailing, like, foe on everything.
Starting point is 00:08:03 If Xbox is out of here, is PlayStation the last man standing or will a competitor arise? I mean, you have the Switch, you have Nintendo. I mean, nobody's fucking talking about that. Switch 2, PlayStation, and then Steam. Yeah, but you also think about, like, the impending console generation that comes after this with the component crisis that comes out of this. The latest console, which was the Steam Machine,
Starting point is 00:08:25 costs $1,500 now. Yeah. What I'm saying is this, though. Like, okay, for a long time, and I bet that there's some stuff that's going on behind the scenes in this stuff, because what I mean is that, like, if you look at the way AI is putting a strain on
Starting point is 00:08:40 the chip market. All the chips are going to AI. InVIDIA, which used to be the bellwether of making these chips for these video game consoles, isn't as into it anymore because there's so much load being put on that industry for obviously compute, but then also like chip manufacturing
Starting point is 00:09:00 and stuff like that. So there's probably some downstream effects of that to the console makers. Beyond that, though, like if in fact PlayStation is the last console standing that's a pretty significant cultural development like Xbox for a long time I was an Xbox player I just became a PlayStation player more than the Xbox player
Starting point is 00:09:24 like legitimately this year I was with the Xbox since 2003 tough and like now the PlayStation's in the front room that's where I like to play it'll be the show so I've been playing the show so I've been playing my PlayStation almost exclusively now, right? But if there's no more Xbox, then what happens, man? What happens?
Starting point is 00:09:45 I mean, it's tough. I don't think the Xbox will go away fully, but this happened to the dream. We about to have one movie studio, one fucking console. It's all bad. It's all bad. If there's one thing,
Starting point is 00:10:00 because you talked about next generations, right, there's only one console coming out, like the, what, Generation 6 or 7 or whatever, that means that they could charge however much they want for the console. There's no competition. What Xbox exclusive games do they still have left? None?
Starting point is 00:10:17 There's very, very, very few. That would be it. I mean, it was, for a long time, it was Forza and Halo. Man, if they put Halo on the PlayStation 5, they're giving up the ghosts. I agree. They, if they, bro, like,
Starting point is 00:10:32 remember when, when the Dreamcast died, I remember I was like, Oh, man, fuck it. The Dreamcast is gone. Everybody was like, they still going to make the games and stuff like that. 2K survived in basketball. 2K football was amazing. That didn't survive.
Starting point is 00:10:47 So it was a really good game. But, like, if you can play Xbox on a PlayStation, that's like crazy, that's like getting a whopper at McDonald's, bro. Yeah. It's nuts. It is, man. Like, that's pretty, okay, I didn't know that was happening. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:00 So that's happening. Yo, people, you were in a political streets. You should be fighting this. Invite them all higher learning. Get the word out. Oh, the Xbox CEO? Yeah, get the Xbox CEO on high-learning. Like, talk about competition.
Starting point is 00:11:13 So I just get them in a different way. Fuck it. That's what they want. You know what? You guys are going to give what you want. Keep trying to tell people, people diss Target boycotts and freestyle raps and all that stuff like that. You're going to get what you want.
Starting point is 00:11:23 You're going to get what you want. You guys are going to get what you want. All right, don't start fucking defending Jay-Z's fucking freestyles. I'm not defending anything. I'm actually, I was very, very critical of it. You guys are going to get what you want. You're going to get two companies for every. All right, and then you guys, okay, all right, fuck it.
Starting point is 00:11:39 Whatever. And a lot of San Diego Comic-Con, goodies coming soon. We're so excited about San Diego Comic-Con. Oh, yeah. We're making all kinds of different plans. We have a glint in our eye because of Comic-Con. All the anime shoddies come out. Hey, you know what?
Starting point is 00:11:51 Speaking of that. Speaking of that. You got to come from here. I got to say something about that. I got to say something about that. Apparently what the streets is saying is that the Midnight Boys, more specifically, three of the Midnight Boys are missing out. At DreamCon.
Starting point is 00:12:05 And not going to DreamCon. I've been trying to get us to DreamCon every single year. They just don't want us to prosper. I've seen some of the viral TikToks that come out of DreamCon. It looks like a podcast. No, I saw the one with SauceWalk. I'm like, what is he doing? I'm almost positive.
Starting point is 00:12:21 It was SauceWalk addressed his Goku. But there was another one with a white woman with a very big ass bouncing on a black man's face. And I was just like, wait, wait, wait. Wait, wait. Yeah, this was. I haven't seen that. Wait.
Starting point is 00:12:32 But it was like, I haven't seen that. I was a little like, this is probably wild. The ringer is kind of like, we don't know. They look at it. Oh, what's DreamCon? They see that? They're like, hey, y'all can stay up. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:43 We don't need that. But why were they doing that, though? It was a great question. Y'all could bleep this. It was some cool content. It was like, okay. Okay. Okay, so I don't see this.
Starting point is 00:12:57 This video is not being, oh, I see it now. Oh, no, that's not it. So, okay. All right, it's interesting. I guess. It seems like a time. So DreamCon is going down at Dream. Oh, my.
Starting point is 00:13:11 Let me see. This got to be it. What the fuck? We got to go to you. Oh, no. Wait, wait, wait, we. Yeah. Okay, no, no, man.
Starting point is 00:13:28 What's this going on with our people, man? That's what I'm saying. We'll throw this up on screen just in case. Oh, no. We can throw it up on screen. No. Hey, you know what's going to get pink eye. Like, nah, bro.
Starting point is 00:13:41 Yeah, that's not. Losing recipes. That's in the lobby. That's in the lobby of the convention. Yeah, what you're doing out here? Amen, God. That was on, uh, it's lovely Laveau. You know, her?
Starting point is 00:13:50 She's a good, she's a good tweeter. Shout out to her. She put that up. I don't know that. I don't think I understand what's going on. I'm not there yet. That's, that is tough. This is new tech.
Starting point is 00:13:59 Shout off the DreamCon. All right. Let's get into the goddamn show. We're back with more instant reactions to the latest episode of House of the Dragon. We're loving. the show. We have to talk about the entire Game of Thrones world. In order to do that, we're going to spoil some stuff. We're going to spoil this show. We're going to spoil Game of Thrones lore. So to get you guys ready to cry. Steve, send with a spoiler warning.
Starting point is 00:14:22 We're getting ready to talk about... You're listening to a reaction podcast. The spoilers are coming. So you got to talk about this episode. Got to put you in the know. The person is going to do that. It's Chuck Wacken. Only way to do that, the Midnight Manifest. Take it away. All right, this is your Midnight Manifest for House of the Dragon, episode five, directed by Nina Lopez Corrado and written by Philippa Goslett.
Starting point is 00:14:50 Sir Kristen Cole is ambushing Rainier's forces in the night. But the morale from his men dwindles as they waved their asymmetric warfare. Sir Oscar Tully and Lord Roderick are thus in a race with Cole's faction to hoard the river and gain a tactical advantage. Aeman awakes at Harenhall along with his Oedipus Complex when he confronts Alice Rivers, while his brother, Agon, struggles with his lack of options on the road. Masaria catches Allison trying to do a lot of things, escape, force an abortion on her daughter. Imprisonment is tough. Meanwhile, revenge is getting the best of Renera as she struggles with the early days of her rule.
Starting point is 00:15:19 It doesn't help that Damon is preoccupied with smoking out the killers of his gold cloaks. Spoiler, it's Norman. At episodes end, Damon comes to find all the gold cloaks murdered. Vrainas forces be cold to the river, forcing Sir Kristen to reveal to Gwain that he's always known they were on a suicide mission. The former hand of the king would rather die in honor than serve another lord or high-born noble. that has been your midnight manifest for House of the Dragon. I'll start. I thought that this episode ended so, so well.
Starting point is 00:15:50 To me, this is the creakest episode of the season. Not a bad episode at all, but it felt in certain ways a little bit wobbly. In what way? I don't know if the murder of the gold cloaks was that interesting to me as kind of of, like... Like a B plot?
Starting point is 00:16:11 As a B plot, it almost seemed a little bit goofy in a lot of ways. The Agon Aiman's stuff felt a little kitchy. The like, who had the better childhood? Oh my gosh. The stuff that was shining for me
Starting point is 00:16:30 and we'll probably talk about it later was Sir Kristen Cole. Like the Sir Kristen Cole storyline was the one that to me, why does this exist? And this episode exist to me to kind of show just how down bad the greens are, but also someone like Sir and Chris and Cole as a character showing how in this world you can get so, so, so, so far.
Starting point is 00:16:54 But if you're not part of that team, if you're not really royalty, if you're not nobility, it could be taken away from you at any point and seeing Sir Chris and Cole backed into a corner in that way, in the PTSD of fighting in this Dragon War, I was like, okay. Like I can stick my teeth into that. I think that the narrative that this season has spun has me so much that they would have to really, really break for me to like even dislike an episode at this point. I am so in on the story that they're telling right now. I love that this episode. I thought it was great. I thought scene to scene, it maintained the narrative intensity for every different character.
Starting point is 00:17:37 every single person's storyline, every single part of it, I'm invested. I'm invested in Agon and Laris. I'm invested in Helena and Allison. I'm invested in what's happening to the Gold Cloaks because I think that that is indicative of just how formidable a villain, Ormond is. Right? like he is legitimately eating their kingdom from the inside out, which is a very difficult thing to do, but it's the only way that he can do it because they have dragons.
Starting point is 00:18:16 They're like positioning all of these different things that are fundamental in this season to me. Sir Christian Cole's situation is, or his battle, is not against any man or any army. It's against his vision of himself. Yeah. So he's fighting for freedom and he talks about like that his death might be the ultimate freedom because only in death does he not have to serve anyone, which is very, very interesting. And you can see it, that's the point that High Tower goes, okay, if this is some sort of peer victory or some valiant last charge into oblivion, that I cannot do.
Starting point is 00:18:55 That's the one place I cannot follow you. I have too much to live for. when he offered him service at his house he was doing that like that was benevolent but that's not the world that Sir Christian Cole wants to live in anymore I think that's like fucking I will say it was I love that speech
Starting point is 00:19:12 but the shot of Sir Gway being like nah Sir Christian Cole was like yo if we die we die and his men were like hey bro that like CRI's talked about a lot on Talk to Thrones about how Christian Colos is the most interesting character he's like invested in the show.
Starting point is 00:19:32 And I could kind of see it. But this episode right here, vindication for CR. Because he's looking around and he's like, yeah, man, we go out there. It looks like we're going to die. Yeah, about as well. And Wayne was looking around like,
Starting point is 00:19:48 what you mean? Me too, all of us? Crickola, yeah. What else am I going to do? I've got nothing else. You offer me service into your house for you. Nah, it's time I do something for me. Right.
Starting point is 00:20:02 And I want to die. And look what they have to march through to get there. They're marching through the poor horses. They're marching through the crows feet of the horse leeches on them, pulling them off. The leeches would be the last thing for me. Yeah. And they're like they're legitimately marching through hell to die. But this is all freeing for Sir Christian Cole.
Starting point is 00:20:23 There's nothing that can stop him because he's finally gets to choose his on. So if all of those things, and then you have sort of a more muted Renair episode where she's in the background of a lot of things, you know what I mean? It's all working so well to me that I'm almost overly invested in every character's journey. And I can't think about a time that I felt disconnected to Game of Thrones, the multi-front Game of Thrones is what we're talking about because in 97 kingdoms it didn't ask that much of you. I can't think about a time that I was more invested since maybe like season three of the original show. I think the interesting thing is the inertia that the show has in regards to all his characters.
Starting point is 00:21:05 Everybody's hiding a secret. Everybody knows something that they either got to keep to themselves or like can't get out for fear of their own safety, whether it's Agon, whether it's A-Gon, whether it's A-Man, whether it's Helena and Alicent, whether it's Damon. Everybody knows something, except for Rainira, Right.
Starting point is 00:21:25 But she is the person in charge. Like that scene with her in Damon where she can, like, they're talking about the walls closing in. In the sept. Yeah. In Hyvalerian, I thought was incredible because, again, we all know that every, like, literally every single person has something that they're hiding from Rainier or that could threaten her legitimacy or whatever it may be. And she's like, yo, I know these things are happening. I know that I can just feel the walls closing in on me. But what can I do?
Starting point is 00:21:54 And I just thought that was like incredible, incredible television. I think that the biggest thing that I took away from this episode is kind of the conflicts between a character's destiny, like what they're preordained to do by either their birth or where they are in life versus what they can do for themselves. I think the way that I could see Agon, like actually being confronted with the idea of the fact that he's not a good person. and not even really considering it and taking it to task, but having somebody actually tell him that is probably, I love it when a character faces that and what they do with that person afterwards
Starting point is 00:22:34 because it's either he gets mad enough to kill him, or he kind of submits and thinks about his own survival for the first time. I think that was one of the most compelling stories that I found in this episode, and it's the idea that the petulance of that character can actually be a bit subdued and maybe grow into something different. And I think Laris is a very good conduit for that. I mean, I think the genius of all of the storylines intersecting this episode is that all the characters or the majority of them are dealing with the same thing,
Starting point is 00:23:06 which is they have all either been on the throne or have been close to it and have had it taken away, where it's like you have Agon and Aman both struggling with the fact of like, Agon got the throne, he got the thing, and it's finally dawning on him. Not only was I nothing when I was sitting on it, I'm nothing without it. And you have someone like, Amon being like, what am I without Vagar? What am I if I am not sitting on the iron throne? And then you have someone like Allison, who has had it taken away and has been a prisoner.
Starting point is 00:23:42 And you have all of these characters knowing that even if they struggle to get that power back, how elusive it really is. Like how really, and that's the genius of me of the original show and now this show, is that like you're fighting over something that like A, will never make you happy
Starting point is 00:24:01 and B is like a cursed chalice. Yeah. And also, like, none of these people are really people. They're all ideas. Like they, they, your house is an idea. Your sigil is an idea. It's an idea that's like formed
Starting point is 00:24:16 way before you got there. You don't have much saying it. The only thing, you do is live up to the expectations that people are putting around you. Helena in this episode refuses to do her duty. And in this case, her duty would be to kill her unborn child. That's the duty. That's her duty.
Starting point is 00:24:38 Her duty, she's asked to do two things in this episode, both that like really strike at the heart of motherhood. One is to abort her unborn child. And the second one is to give her child up for adoption. She refuses both. Now, I'm not going to get into a whole political treatise about which decision is right. I'm not getting to that. But what I'm saying is she for herself, what you want more than anything in a society when you talk about that particular issue,
Starting point is 00:25:10 is people having the ability to make the decision for themselves, for themselves, not based upon societal pressure, not based upon societal dysfunction, meaning you don't want anyone to not be able to have a child or bring a child in this world because they're too poor or because that child doesn't have a safety net, because anything like that, you want that decision to be about the way someone sees themselves
Starting point is 00:25:31 as a mother or as not a mother. And she, for whatever reason, sees herself as a mother twofold, and she refused, right? And so in all of the show that we're all of this particular show that we're watching right now, you're seeing people go, you know what? No, this is about me. Or you're seeing Lairis say to Agon, it's never been about you. All you've ever done is complain.
Starting point is 00:25:58 You've been gifted and handed everything, but you've never been enough of a person to either take advantage of the gifts that have been given to you or to even be curious about them. You just weren't curious enough. All you did was throw your privilege. is around and when you can no longer batter people with it, now you're a shell of yourself, which actually makes him do something that maybe he wanted to do,
Starting point is 00:26:19 which was vile, but I don't know if it was vile. But like it makes him act for the first, that feels like the first thing that Agon has, that feels like the first decision Agon has ever made in the show. It feels like the first actual decision that he has made for whatever reason. Now we'll see who he actually is. And, you know, this seems, What they're doing right now seems like the beginning of the actual fight.
Starting point is 00:26:45 Because now they're not fighting for legacy or glory or house or what someone else said that they should have. They're not even fighting with trauma. You're going to get to a point in this fight between the Greens and the Blacks where people are going to be fighting for themselves and then it'll be interested to do the wins. I mean, the funny thing about Helena was the character annoyed me so much this episode, but I do think that that's the point.
Starting point is 00:27:11 the services are the annoyance. I think, and I think there's purposeful on the, on the part of the storytellers, which is she is an adult and a mother fighting for her children, which you want to root for, but she does not have
Starting point is 00:27:27 the high tower sensibility of how to move through this world. So a lot of times Allison is becoming her father, where she's like, you need to see ahead, this is the chessboard, I'm trying to save yours, life. I'm trying to save my life. And Helena is almost acting like a child. And it's this weird
Starting point is 00:27:47 dissonance of she's a mother. But to Allison, she's still a child. So she's fighting for herself and what she wants. While Allison is just like, at some point, once Rainer finds out that kid is dead and you're most likely dead. I need to get you out of fear. And that was probably where I was finding the tension with Elena where I was like, hey, sis, come on. You can keep the child, but stop arguing with Allison. We got to get out of here, bro. We have to escape. Yeah, I think Helena is kind of
Starting point is 00:28:17 indicative of what we're talking about. She just, Helena is actually a character that sets the tone for this episode because she's always just been about, she's too vacant to give a shit about anything else. Helena, everything's happening. She's, I want to go outside and look at the moon.
Starting point is 00:28:34 It might be a reason. What are you fucking talking about? Look out the window. It's like, the moon water. It's like, the moon's like, the moon's. The moon's girl. I won't go outside and look at the moon. Like, she's always been a character that's kind of been, like, unfazed with everything
Starting point is 00:28:48 else that was going on. And it's almost like the show came to her. Yeah. The Gold Cloak stuff is amazing to me because it's the first time in the show that I've seen Damon overwhelmed. Right? And, like, and it's, and that's important right now. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:05 Because Damon is still throwing his weight around. He's throwing his weight around in front of his queen. she can't get him to do what she wants him to do but the first, looking at watching this happen they talk, they seem like they got it under control and they're watching him draw a sword and hold that torch up and see all of his people gone it's the first time I've seen him overwhelmed
Starting point is 00:29:27 he's met his fucking match Aiman was never a match for Damon the show hasn't set that up yet Damon Damon presented himself to Aman and Aiman in a great scene looked off to the side and walked away. He know he's not ready yet.
Starting point is 00:29:44 Maybe he will be, he will be at one point. Maybe he will be at one point. But right now in Ormond, he's met his match. Wait, can I also just say this is a, before we get off later, I was died. It must be so annoying to have someone who could like see visions and see the future. Because at what point you're like, yeah, Dave is fire.
Starting point is 00:30:06 He's a bunch of fire at Harrod Hall. Yeah. If you don't, Alice is like, what the fuck are you talking about? But sometimes I'm like, damn, a lot more would go right in this world. If they're like, you know what, if Helena needs to see the moon, she needs to see the moon. This woman can see the fucking future. Yeah. We made, we should listen a little bit.
Starting point is 00:30:22 Speaking of which, I do think it's interesting that they have the scene with her and Johara out in the godswoods. And she's like, you can't eat that caterpillar because it feeds on the nightshade. It would kill us. And then she's back in the house and she's got the, she was looking at that caterpillar. in the little little thing that she had it in. Interesting. Just something to know. You like that shit.
Starting point is 00:30:45 Subtext Jomi. You know, you see something. You know, you're like, oh, that's interesting. Make a note of that. Yeah. Write that down in your notes. Have you guys noticed the lack of titties? What?
Starting point is 00:30:56 Like in the show? No, not particular. Yeah, that's not really, no. Why? Have you noticed? First of all, let's talk about something real quick. Sure. There's nothing wrong with liking to see a little bit.
Starting point is 00:31:15 Let's have a conversation. Nobody said that. Are you guys of the non-sex scene generation? No. No, we're not prudish. No. I'm asking. I agree with young people where I'm like, I disagree with them being like,
Starting point is 00:31:31 a sex scene has to have a point. I'm like, no, it doesn't. Like, I actually don't think it needs to have a point. I think a lot of filmmaking sometimes. I'm like, you watch a gangster flick, and sometimes it's just a montage of them killing, because what's the point? And I'm like, it's a mobster movie.
Starting point is 00:31:45 Right. Sometimes I would just want to see some dope shit. If there's a sex scene, if there's some tittyes flying around, I'm like, hey, pretty dope, as long as it's not egregious. That's where it's. What's a girl? Give me an example of an egregious scene of nudity in a movie. I mean, if we go back to the original Game of Thrones,
Starting point is 00:32:02 there were a bunch of scenes. It was a different time in HBO where it's like, I remember growing up on HBO, where sometimes I was watching TV shows where there was a lot of drama and I'm like, I'm watching this for like 10 seconds of titty. Yeah, it's kind of their brand at that point. It's like if you're watching HBO,
Starting point is 00:32:18 you're watching the adult stuff. So I grew up in the era of just the while we're looking at cities right now, right? But, you know, at the end of just one of the guys, she opens up her shirt to show that she's a girl and breast. Like in trading places, even Craig brought this up. We talk about trading places.
Starting point is 00:32:45 Jimmy Lee Curtis just goes, hey, she takes her shirt off for no reason, breast. Okay, I get it. I get that. Game with Thrones, though, normally to color the world of Westeros, it's, ah, the less and stuff like that. Right. They show you breasts. Now, I'll say this. It's not that there hasn't been nudity because there was nudity in last episode.
Starting point is 00:33:04 True. But, little Ormond butt. But it seems like that there's a decision being made to stay away from the breasts. I don't know if it's a decision. They're not going to brothels, you know what I'm saying? Like, it's season one when Damon was taking Young Renera to the brothels and stuff, when Amy was going down there.
Starting point is 00:33:26 It was tities galore. I have to ask this now. Like, let's say you go to like a Robert Eggers movie. Do you want to see the tities in there? because he a lot of times got the peasants with the, they look at fucked up in the movies. And Game of Thrones, we still got the baddies.
Starting point is 00:33:43 Here's the deal. I don't think it matters to him on the floor. Every titty is a gift, man. Okay. Put it on the screen. If you know how to, if you know how to appreciate, put it a t-shirt and every titty is a gift.
Starting point is 00:33:57 And you won't look at a titty and go, hey, that's not a good one. You'll go, hey, I was better for having seen it. That's the fucking place. I say, this is why, I have realized this. This is not, I'll be real. Every titty is a gift because any single time I've seen like a titty out in the wild that I haven't expected of like, we appreciate it that day.
Starting point is 00:34:17 Now, there was one time I was walking down this street with my friend and I see a man definitely was homeless. And I go, oh no! And this niggas, ashy dick was just swinging in the wind. And that shit ruined my day. I was like, God. Yeah. It happens.
Starting point is 00:34:38 Oh, in L.A.? It happens. I'm like, fuck. I mean, we need to clean up, we need to clean up our society and make space for people so I don't have a place to go. Right. I'll tell you this. Think about it. She went to the gold cloaks hideout.
Starting point is 00:34:53 Oh, all Dweeney. Dic-Dick-a-Dick-Dick-Y. Yes. It was duany everywhere. Hey, cool. Equal opportunity. Like, it was a lot. So, so, like, here's a deal.
Starting point is 00:35:03 Here's a deal. Here's a good time. Hold on for a second. Let me make a call. I want you to... I want you to... This is going to be funny. If he picks up the phone, this is going to be funny.
Starting point is 00:35:16 Okay? Hold on. If he picks up the phone... Do we get to know? I don't know if y'all ever met my friend Ian. You ever meet Ian before? He was at the birthday party. Maybe.
Starting point is 00:35:25 Tell the story. Hold on real quick. If he picks up, this is going to be funny. We just talk about this. Let's see if he picks up. He should. If he doesn't pick up by the third ring, it's a dub.
Starting point is 00:35:38 Quick story. Damn, he's not going to pick up. I hate having friends that are quasi-successful. I like having me. They call and they pick up. I pick up when people call. Anyway, I might have to tell a story without a guy. So would you guys prefer, though, let's say,
Starting point is 00:35:58 because this would make HBO a lot of money. They give us the regular like house of the dragon, and then the next day they're like, all right, here's the young cut version. Titty edition. A lot more, a lot more. Well, look, here's the deal. You guys are making a good point.
Starting point is 00:36:11 If the story doesn't call for titties, if we're in a butt and dick world, that is fine. Right. That is the way that it goes. Yeah. If the story doesn't, you don't want to force it, right?
Starting point is 00:36:22 Right. But I just thought, you never want to force it. No. I just thought it was interesting to be in that place. Game of Thrones has always shows you some dick, always shows you some dick,
Starting point is 00:36:33 always shows you some of like, whatever. But now it's there. No press. No press happened. But the story I was getting ready to tell is, went to see any given Sunday back in the day I don't know went to see it in Baton Rouge
Starting point is 00:36:46 me and a bunch of other people and you know there's a part in any given Sunday you've seen the movie no there's a part of any given Sunday where Cameron Diaz who's the owner of the team goes into the locker room and some gigantic
Starting point is 00:37:03 dicks in a locker room and we were in there And it was me and Gino and Ian. And Ian was like, damn. I mean, yeah, sometimes just like, whoa. And it wasn't like he was saying that, but me and Gino jumped on that.
Starting point is 00:37:29 Right, yeah, of course. Yeah, as you would. As you would. We jumped on that. It was like, oh, shit, now every time we bring it up, we say, hey, remember any given Sunday, bro. Like, you know what I mean? So what it is, you know, there's some moments in Game of Thrones any given Sunday minutes I'm calling now.
Starting point is 00:37:46 We need to get off Titty Corridor by last question. We don't have to. What is the best titty scene in a movie where you were just like, oh, this is the number one titty scene? Well, see, if we do this, then what we're going to have to do is also rank the actresses by their nude bodies. Yeah. Even I'm not like fucking vile enough for that, you know?
Starting point is 00:38:06 Okay. Oh, good. Even I'm on the line. That's good. I already have a team. I'm not grading the titty. It was just like compositionally surprise factor. Like, damn.
Starting point is 00:38:19 Like, I know it in my head. You're talking about Halliberry's sorefish? No. No, what is it? Just say it. Do the right thing. Oh. As a kid, I was like, that was almost a jump scare.
Starting point is 00:38:29 Well, that's fundamental. Like, that's fundamental because Spike was going for it. That's the type of thing. That's the type of thing that if you did that now, like, people would have been like a month on Twitter. Because Spike was just going crazy. By the way, a lot of Spike's movies, Spike was like, hey, this is a sensual
Starting point is 00:38:48 world of senses and art and all of that stuff. And in my world, people have sex and they have actual passionate, realistic sex. So Spike would go for that. Okay. I just thought I actually had to read down my notes. I was like, hey. Not enough.
Starting point is 00:39:01 Not enough. I'm not saying not enough. I'm just saying I've noticed that they don't do it as much they used to. They're in the minus for. Yeah, they don't do as much as you used to, but maybe the story doesn't call for it. Could I pivot because I thought this was, even if it was a little goofy, what I liked about the Agon and Aman storylines intersecting a little bit, is they were having to be what is like a very universal but modern conversation,
Starting point is 00:39:30 which is like, mom liked you best, no, mom like you best. And my brother once told me, like, one of our cousins was like to him. He's like, what y'all don't understand is like y'all parents give each one of you a pass. Like, they allow you to be the type of person you are and they're not going to do it for the other. And it was so funny seeing how for Agon, he was just like, Allison loved Aman. I could never be him. I could never be this. And then when you have Ayn talking, he's coming from a like, I was always second in command.
Starting point is 00:40:05 None of this was promised to me. At seeing how those two both wanted what the other had, I was like, okay, that is, like, fascinating character work. Agon confused Amon's talent for favor. And it was the vice versa with the other brother, right? So one had privilege, the other one had talent. Each one of them confused what they had for favor. When really the way it should have been is if it's legitimately about,
Starting point is 00:40:35 how you see yourself, then you understand, how about this? Let's look at Hector and Paris. Look at Hector and Paris. Hector and Paris were two princes, right? That, like, even though they were stationed and standing, they also had their own personalities. And they had loved for each other as brothers.
Starting point is 00:41:01 So Hector understood that it was important for him to be the sword of Troy, to be the person that went out there and was the greatest warrior of Troy and used all of that stuff to fight. Now it was convenient that in this case, the older brother was actually more fully formed and understanding of his station. The younger brother was the one
Starting point is 00:41:23 that was a little bit more like Agon was. Well, in this other situation, it's kind of flipped. But their essential bond in that story is that they love it. each other. So if you fuck up, I'm not going to blame you for being a fuck up. I'm not going to blame you for the way
Starting point is 00:41:39 everybody else looks at you. What I'm going to say is, you're my brother, I love you. Let's go do it. I'm going to admonish you for what you did. But at the end of the day, if my sword has to fight your battle, I'll do it. These guys never got there. For whatever reason, the inverse of that relationship, the younger brother
Starting point is 00:41:56 being the better warrior, the older brother, the older brother being the one that was a little bit more of a slap dick, that just destroyed their opportunity to have any type of a bond. And it put them in a frozen conflict over the course of their childhood that they've never really dealt with. So now they each have understanding and an opinion about each other that's actually not true.
Starting point is 00:42:20 Like it takes Laris to tell him, look, you could have taken all of this seriously. It's not because of your younger brother that you didn't. It's because you didn't choose to invest into yourself. But everything was given to Agon. And the minute it's taken away, and that's what I think is so fascinating about the character. And this season is that he's having to confront his frailty and his ignorance and how unprepared he is for this world. Because everything up to this point has been given to him. But when you think about A-Men, everything he's fought for, his talent with a sword, being fluent in High Valerian, all this stuff was really just a mask for a child who really wanted his.
Starting point is 00:43:02 his mother to love him. You know what? Can I say something about that real quick? I agree, but only to a point. And let me tell you what I mean. Everything was given to Agon. I do agree with you. Everything was given to Agon,
Starting point is 00:43:12 but he never accepted the gift, which is what Larry's is trying to tell him. Like, his younger brother was better at him than those things. His younger brother is smarter than him. His younger brother is better with the sword. That would have not even mattered. That would have not been a thing. If, in fact, he would have taken.
Starting point is 00:43:32 taken his standing seriously. If he would have been, because he was the firstborn, if he would have been a mediocre but diligent swordsman, it would have been meaningful. If he would have been a mediocre but diligent student, it would have been meaningful. If he would have taken his relations, he could have given his life meaning
Starting point is 00:43:55 by accepting his birthright, and he never really did, because he was jealous of his younger brother. He ran from his brother. birthright. So he doesn't even know who he is. The younger, like, he could have helped orient his younger brother. Could have looked at him with favor
Starting point is 00:44:10 and power and maybe made their relationship into something, but he was too busy wallowing in the fact that he wasn't as good as his younger brother when he was blessed to be something his younger brother never could be. And like, when that's the whole fucking civil war.
Starting point is 00:44:26 That's this entire civil war. What you were born with versus what you can get. Like, in their relationship. So to me, like, the point that you're making is true, I also wonder what this entire thing would have been like if Agon would have set out to be a great king, if that would have been important to him. Took it seriously from the jump. I think the Allison thing is interesting because obviously the Aman and Agon thing, like, is happening in the episode, but also you have, we haven't talked about him yet, Daron and like his whole thing with Ormond and then
Starting point is 00:45:01 Allison actually trying to be a parent with Helena and not falling apart. It's too late. Exactly. It's too late. She's like, hey, man, the first two I messed up with,
Starting point is 00:45:15 the last one I never got a chance. But this one, this one, I'm going to get it right. And even then, they're trying to do the escape from Alcatrazmit. Right. And immediately,
Starting point is 00:45:26 they get out the door. I mean, even Reneer, if we're going to this, even Reneera, spends an entire day and they're like, hey, yo, your child is ready, your child's back. And that fucking shot of her
Starting point is 00:45:38 at the end of the day, finally having time, and he's asleep, I'm like, oh, it's too late to be a good pairing. And I love the sort of parallel between that and Daron with Otto, because you can see him molding his mind in that chess scene. Because as volatile
Starting point is 00:45:57 and as, like, almost childish that Otto can be Ormond, or Ormond, excuse me, Ormond, that Orman can be. He's very determined and, like, resolute in trying to make sure that Darren is going to be king and going to be the thing that is instilled in this high tower ideology, that he's, like, trying to, like, whittle and chip away
Starting point is 00:46:20 at, like, no, you don't need your dragon, you don't need to apologize. You need to be this superior thing that is against what the world is trying to convince you, already in your blood, but it's this side of this coin, that you actually are the superior man. The show is so good because they've got Ormond's character down to a science to the point where when he was like, when Darrym was like, the lessons are dry, immediately I knew,
Starting point is 00:46:47 he's not going to like that. No, Orman's not going to like, he's not going to like that. And two, Gwain mentions early in the episode that Orman is a sore loser. Yeah. Right? Even as kids, there were sore losers. And so when he puts that, little, I mean, it looks like Chess, the queen piece and the thing. And I'm like, ah, he's going to go off. And he, and he does.
Starting point is 00:47:06 Even though he's like, I, like, he is upset that he lost, but he's like, hey, man, don't feel bad. You're not supposed to, you're supposed to win. That's what I want for you. And I'm like, this, this guy's a liar. Now, what was he doing to him in that scene? What was Orman doing to Darren? To Darren. That was a very important scene for Orman. What do you out there? What was Orman doing for Darren in that scene? Like to not be afraid of him. To not be afraid of victory.
Starting point is 00:47:32 Victory. So like what you can do is you can make somebody pussy. You can. And this is what, this is the thing. This is why like I appreciate my father. Like, like, I appreciate my father because you can, you can suffocate someone's development to the point to where they'll be afraid to win in your house and they'll be afraid to win in life. They'll be afraid to like, they'll be afraid of any foe. Like, you can be such a domineering father or such a domineering mother, such a domineering brother, such a domineering figure that you will send somebody outside of your household and they'll see you in every particular obstacle that's in their life.
Starting point is 00:48:15 And if you're smart, you won't do that to them. If you're smart, you'll set boundaries between you and them as far as authority is concerned. But when they win, they win. Hey, like, when it was, like, when, when me and my dad used to play basketball and he used to bust my ass, like, and when I bust his, when I started busing his ass, like, for real and he couldn't keep up anymore, I mean, he stopped playing me. But like, like, as they do, like, as they all do, right, as they all do. He wasn't about to go out there and lose 10 in a row. No. There was nothing in it for him.
Starting point is 00:48:46 But he accepted it. And he was like, nah. He's like, the same way I see you when you talking out here with your little, you got to talk to me like that. You got to do the same thing with me. That was very important. Ormond is a complex character. If they wanted to make him one note, he would have knocked that game over and then left and left Darren in fear of him. That's not what he did.
Starting point is 00:49:08 He did. He came back. He's trying to make a king. And a king can't be afraid to win. But also, I feel like Ormond hates what he hates half of what Darren is. He wants to uphold the high tower name. and everything, quote unquote, good or smart in the world he's teaching through the lens of the high towers. And he's constantly undermining the Targary.
Starting point is 00:49:35 Do you see that overcoaching as like a baseball dad or like a stage mom where like they overcoach their kids because they wanted the thing that their kid should be having? I more so see it as Orman wants Darren to think when he, if he or when he ascends the Iron Throne, that you are sending this as a high tower. It is not the Targaryen in you that gave you this. It is the cunning, the guile of what the high towers have built. But the reality of the situation is the only reason that Darren has a claim to this throne is because he's a Targaryen. And that's what makes a fascinating villain is him trying to square those two competing thoughts
Starting point is 00:50:24 into a coherent way of seeing the world. Right. He also doesn't want his loyalty to be synthetic. He wants it to be real. So if, like, fear is synthetic loyalty. If somebody is doing something because they're scared of you, the moment that they are not afraid of you anymore, that's gone. Love is real loyalty.
Starting point is 00:50:50 Like, reverence is real loyalty. Right? So, like, when people say it would you rather be feared or respected, one is waiting to be overcome. Is it too much to ask for both? One is waiting to be overcome. And the other lasts forever. So it just depends on how long you want it.
Starting point is 00:51:12 Like, right? If you want it forever, then you would rather respect than love. If you want it until somebody builds up their shit, then you want fear. He, the kid is scared of him. But in that moment, he takes. his fear away because if he's going to be able to have his hand of that kid's back throughout his entire reign, he needs his feeling of gratitude to him to at least feel real to me.
Starting point is 00:51:38 And so I was like, oh, I expected that scene to go differently. And that's another thing about the Orman character is they keep surprising me with them. I expected that scene to go differently. I expected him to walk away and leave Darren afraid, but he didn't. He actually wants to make a king. For whatever reason, everything that you said is 1,000% right, he wants a High Tower King. He can't have it, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:52:02 But more than anything, he wants a king that really, truly feels connected to him. This was a big, we already kind of talked about Sir Kristen Cole, but this was a big... A little Chrissy Chris. Y'all hungry, y'all want something from Dialogue Cafe? Sure. Are you hungry?
Starting point is 00:52:22 I didn't, yeah. You water balls? could order? I know, I'm not, I'm gonna order it while we're doing a goddamn thing. I'm asking, you know, fuck you guys. I mean, what did they got? Nope, nope, nope, nope. You don't get no dialogue, FAA, get it yourself because I asked you and you guys's first step, this is very true with Alaya.
Starting point is 00:52:39 Alea is doing this as well. You guys's first reaction to me is always ridicule and I want to call it out. That was not ridicule. We were in the middle. I was asking you guys if you wanted a piece of food for breakfast. Fucking Steve got to be at Mateo in an hour. You got tail game, I'm writing this another pod. That's cool. No, you don't get it. It took me by surprise. Wait, why is it fuck
Starting point is 00:53:00 Joe me now? And Alea, I'm rebelling against you too. We record. Like, I'll be able it against O'Lei. I would like a breakfast burrito, please. That's the right answer. Okay, Alea's going to get that. Yeah, but I'm happy for Alleyer. I'm happy for you, man. Yeah. With the sausage, please. No, with the sausage, is crazy. All right,
Starting point is 00:53:16 so let's, let's, uh... We just had a fucking 30-minute clear-out about how many tittyes and dicks are in House of the Dragon. We said, Dumber and we go dumber. Yeah. And the sausage is where you draw the line? This is the dumbest smart guy.
Starting point is 00:53:29 This is what we do. We're the dumbest, smart podcast. Or the smartest dumb one. I think we're the smartest dumb podcast. It's what we give you here. So this was a very speech forward episode. Yes. Everybody was giving speeches.
Starting point is 00:53:47 I wanted to ask y'all, did speeches work on y'all? I remember when I was playing sports. and what a coach would give him an important speech. There would be a lot of times probably like, not. I can't remember
Starting point is 00:53:59 how many coaches speeches. Speeches from players always work for me. I remember the kind of speeches I like would be speeches where people would challenge you like nonchalantly. It's like,
Starting point is 00:54:09 all right, man. I mean, obviously we can't beat these niggas. Y'all don't want to beat them. Oh, you think you can? Let's just go back out there and play for another half, get our asses whooped,
Starting point is 00:54:19 and then where I'll let a jacket is around campus next week. So that's what we do. He's just wearing the jackets. We ain't really trying out here to win. And I'm like, no, nigger. And that got you fired up? I want to fucking win, right?
Starting point is 00:54:32 But when the coaches would come down there, the coaches would come down in there. Ha! 1971. Oh, no. I'm walking to school south side Chicago by myself. Yeah, we're not trying to hear that, OG. I'm like, hey, bro, man. Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:54:49 There's certain guys that could do it, but I never met one that, where it worked on. The line that every coach I remember using, and I'm like, all right, you just play it for your next fucking high school contract. They'd be like, all right, if y'all don't care, I don't care. Oh, yeah. All right, niggins.
Starting point is 00:55:06 You know what I had never worked on me? You know what I never worked on me? The reason why I never worked on me is because I knew it was a lie. Right. I'd be like, we don't win. It's your job. It's your job. Yay!
Starting point is 00:55:19 So what I always, that one never worked. Shit, y'all don't give a. fuck y'all fuck it and didn't it with brother a lover body just hold on bro y'all about the side they were always get mad in the middle of the speech shit
Starting point is 00:55:32 y'all don't give a fuck about nothing that's right start throwing shit like bro oh my god like take a fungo bat and like like what time took a fungo bat
Starting point is 00:55:45 and like drove it through the middle of the chalkboard we're like what the fuck the cheese wow but I remember too it didn't really really click into my mind until like eighth grade. I was like, wait, there's the real coach.
Starting point is 00:55:58 And then for like the games where it's like, oh, you ride in the bench, we had to go to a tournament. I'm like, this nick is in college. He's not that much older than me because they start coming on like the fucking bus and be like, hey, yo, y'all gave it your all. Also, Angelo, your mom's hot as shit. And I'm like, damn. Whoa, whoa.
Starting point is 00:56:15 All right. You can't take y'all. Talking like that on the bus. But in movies, the speeches are given by. Denzel Washington. So because the movies are given by professional actors. And run by professional writers.
Starting point is 00:56:31 And so like, like, I like almost well up when I think about the speech from Friday night from Friday night lines. I'm like, God damn, I want somebody to give me that speech. I'll go to war for you, coach. At the end of the movie, or at the end of this episode, when he says, I think he says clear eyes.
Starting point is 00:56:47 And I'm like, he's going, Are you saying, are you about to, I thought he was going to say full hurt? That's. speech was so phenomenal, and I would still be the Gwain in that speech. I'm like, I'm gone. Which one? I'm talking about, like, in the gossip?
Starting point is 00:57:02 When Sir Kristen Cole, I was like, dog, this is some Shakespearean and shit. I believe this to my core, and I still would have walked away. In order to get me to fucking marching a certain death, you got to be really spitting. Yeah, you really got to give some stuff. So, Gwen goes, nah, nigger. We got fucking. we got McDonald's at home. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:24 Like, you know what I'm saying? I got legions on my feet right now. Also, Sir Chris and Colt, he was spitting, but then he would be like, his plan would be like, we'll do whatever, we'll have to, we'll swim, we'll build a raft. I'm like, dog, I just said a fucking. And you see, you see that's really interesting that you say that because I thought Christian speech was incredible. I thought Damon's speech was whack and that's why all his homies done.
Starting point is 00:57:44 Damon's speech is really bad. That was so bad. Damon's speech was on some, damn, you was the man in high school. you add all the fucking shit and they like dog they really don't your name really not ringing out in flea bottom like that yeah so his speech really wasn't
Starting point is 00:58:00 standing on anything it was basically like hey if y'all follow me I'm gonna pay y'all twice over and I'm like damn that's they went for it down in flea bottom because it works hey they went for it that shit wouldn't have worked for if I'm in the police force
Starting point is 00:58:15 no hell no you never gonna get me with uh you double the next week work for free I'm like I already saw my soul. I got a question. We talk about speeches. Who's got the best speeches in fandom? The best speeches in fandom. Right.
Starting point is 00:58:29 Like, who would you follow in a certain death? Like, like, Christian Cole. Cap? Luton. I go to war for... I would never follow Cap in the battle. Oh, well, Cap does good speeches. Oh, yeah, Cap does... Yeah. I mean, my goal, Optimus Prime. Optimus got good speeches. Optimus got the best speeches. I'm following...
Starting point is 00:58:45 The best single speech, though, is the Luton... Luton speech is not... His thing, Luton speech is not to make you... like going to battle. Luthan speech was to let you know, to me, Luthin's speech was setting a boundary. Don't ever come at me with decency
Starting point is 00:59:04 or ever, ever, ever question, like sacrifice. Don't, I'm, don't, like, Lutthin's speech wasn't to me, like, rah, right, let's go. He's saying, there's nothing that I'm asking you to do that I haven't done.
Starting point is 00:59:22 So I don't want to hear it in any way, shape, or form. I don't want to hear it. I've sold my soul. I've given my life for freedom for freedom I will never, ever see. And I live with that. So do what the fuck I'm asking you do and get the fuck out of my face or get to the back of the bus and I'll find somebody else. See, I love Luther's speech because those are the type of speeches that work on me in real life,
Starting point is 00:59:49 which is like speeches that are like rooted in the truth. like, hey, if you're going to sign up for this, I'm going to keep it 100 with you. This is the only time that I'm going to make this speech where it's like if I'm Captain America, all right, if I'm Cap, if I'm Iron Man, I'm Thor, I'm okay. Niggi, if I'm vision, I'm probably getting my shit rocked. What is this speech really going to do for me?
Starting point is 01:00:14 Well, I mean, he's got to get you to fight. So, like, he needs you to run out to the front lines. Lutthin wasn't asking for that. Like, Luther was asking for, like, subterfuge. Capp's got to, you know what, I think about it now. Cap really hadn't given that many really Rha-Raw speeches in the MCU. He really more, it was a lead, has he?
Starting point is 01:00:29 He gave, I will. What's the speeches of Cap? In Age of Ultron, if you get hurt. Walking off. Yeah, if you get her, walking off. If you get hurt. I mean, I also guess. It's okay.
Starting point is 01:00:41 I think I'm thinking more about, I think about it. I think I'm thinking more about, wait, what are Cap's best speeches? He doesn't really have that many. But didn't he give one where Ant-Man was. like that was a that was a pretty good speed no that was actually no no no that was that was that that was that was that man oh that was that was that man was talking to rock and raccoon
Starting point is 01:00:59 that might have been in the end game maybe I can't remember I'm trying to find some I think I think oh no talking about when he's when he's telling off Loki in Avengers last time I was in Germany like like they're always being like I'm gonna be real with you man I just gave caps on white man's privilege his speeches don't hit like that bro When he's talking to Black Widow about with the peanut butter and jelly sandwich? And he's like, it's not like a speech. You got like, we got to like, some dude not us. So that's a good idea.
Starting point is 01:01:31 That's a good example. That's a one on one. That's a good example of a like cathartic type of. Don't give up some dude, not us. He gives you a good talking to. But I was talking about more so is cap has kept given a whole. He doesn't have an optimist prime speech. He does not have an optimist prime speech.
Starting point is 01:01:46 Yeah, but those speeches don't really happen in the MCU too much. Now, not I think of. No. All there, because if we're being real, the people really give the good speeches are the, like, I was, I was, Magneto. Ooh, Magneto.
Starting point is 01:01:57 Magneto can give a speech. Killmonger speech was crazy. Yeah? Can't even talk about my man, bro. That's my guy. Samwise? All right, that's it. Stay tapped into the Talk to Thrones.
Starting point is 01:02:08 They're going crazy. It's Friday, Budmash's, Budmash continues with the Platoon Raiders, and Halo campaign evolves. I can't believe what I heard today about Halo. It's crazy. Also, some San Diego Comic
Starting point is 01:02:20 Goodies are coming up. We've got more stuff to roll out. We're going to have a great time at Comic Com. Producers today, our producers today, ooh, the mushrooms hidden.
