Hi, everyone. It's Amy Poehler, and I'm launching a new podcast called Good Hang.
In preparation for that, I asked some of my friends to send in some videos and give me some advice.
Just be yourself, and the guests will come.
Don't be the celebrity that this is their like six things they're doing.
I love two crime and cooking podcasts. Is there any way you could combine the two?
Well, everyone has an opinion and a podcast.
So, join me for Good Hang. It's rough out there. We're just trying to lighten it up a little.

Hello and welcome into the ringerverse, your nexus feed for all things.
Fandum, I'm Steve Allman.
And I'm join me dinner on.
And today we're joined by the Great.
The late, great.
Late, he died?
What's wrong with you?
We're late as in we had some technical difficulties on account.
No, that's not what you said, though.
You said late, late, great, as in somebody had died.
As in we're all late to the pot.
We're potting from the grave?
Yes.
All of us, was this some horrible park?
We went to the Ocean Gate.
We were like, yo, let's pod from the Titanic.
From a place that may or may not look like a coffin.
Coming to you live on the Ringer podcast network,
it's Mint Edition.
The once-in-a-while podcast about fandom that you just can't live without.
We're joined by Matt James and Daniel Chin.
Who are also dead.
Yes.
I'm living.
Back from the dead over here.
Listen, with all this content coming out, we may as well be in heaven.
Am I right, fellas?
Hey, man, you're not lying.
It's a lot going on.
Is it a lot going on?
Well, yeah.
That's a whole reason.
I mean,
free agents,
guys,
if you're listening
to this podcast
right now,
it is 3 p.m.
Pacific time,
which means
any time from now.
How many RSS feed alerts
do you have?
So here's the problem.
I do have the sham
notifications on,
but I won't be checking
because I want to be
professional or do my job.
The problem is,
and if you guys are basketball
fans,
I know Matt and Danny,
you guys know exactly
what I'm talking about.
These deals have already
been cooked up.
So as soon as like 301,
301, 302 hits,
Shams, Shams, Shams, Shams,
sham, sham, sham, sham, sham.
Like, it's just going to be, it's going to be crazy.
So, you know, again, we're going to try and stay focused.
We have a job to do.
But, you know, if, like, you know, DeAngel Russell signs a max deal with, you know,
Copenhagen or something, I might go crazy, you know what I'm saying.
I mean, it's very likely.
It's very likely.
I mean, he's probably going to the Mavs, but still, it would be kind of nuts, right?
Dan Nip Chin reporting live from New York City.
How are you doing?
I'm doing great.
You know, I mean, me and Matt over here, the Knicks fans of the podcast now, just waiting to see
who were going to get his head coach.
Hey, get ready to learn Mike Brown, buddy.
Is this show about basketball?
This is the second time you've been on.
And it's just Nix talk for the first five minutes.
My energy, it's just basketball talking here.
We appreciate it, though.
Because I'm wearing my Liberty Championship shirt tonight.
Brag about it?
No, but listen, it's either that or I have to talk to you about Death Stranding for the next 20 minutes, which I'm absolutely hooked on.
All right.
Damn.
Mess it.
That's good for you, man.
I'm glad you're having fun.
The absolute coldest of shoulders.
I'm good.
I'm good over here, actually.
I'm still playing Mario Kart World.
You know, I'm trying to get first place in all the races.
Like I didn't do that on the first night.
Back about it.
Yeah, back about it.
But along with the button mash news that you can get on Death Stranding, on this very feed,
you can also listen to the programming writers of things that are coming to you this week.
On Wednesday, the Midnight Boys are going to be giving you their reactions
to the latter half of the Iron Heart season.
Super excited for that.
Getting on Disney Plus, as well as Jurassic World, Rebirth.
Yeah.
Coming to your eyes, nose, and ears this weekend.
They can smell the podcast?
They can definitely smell that movie.
And it smells good.
Does it?
Might smell good.
You on an island with dinosaurs?
Like, I don't know, I've never been.
You've been to a zoo, zoo smell rank.
I understand.
But it's rather earthy.
You kind of miss that.
You miss smelling poop?
I didn't say poop.
I said earth.
Okay.
You know, dirt.
Yeah, you got a big dog.
All right, we got it.
We got it.
Also, this week, House of R, on this Tuesday, is going to be giving you a recap and deep dive on the latest season of Squid Game.
First half comes on Tuesday.
Second half comes on Thursday, as well as later this week.
Again, the midnight boys are going to be hitting you with the long-awaited return of midnight court.
Dumb-dum
In the criminal justice system
crimes of fandom
to Jomey are especially heinous.
Yeah, they are heinous.
They are.
And we're going to be talking about
Superman and Fantastic Four.
In what legal context
is yet to be determined.
We're going to announce that later.
But for now, today,
Jomey's got a draft for us.
We do, guys.
We're calling this the summer
franchise retooling draft.
You can't see me, but I am putting quotations on retooling, right?
Because with DC, the MCU, and Jurassic World, all looking to put their past behind them
and look toward a future of new stories and characters, some of that we're pretty
familiar with, we here at Minedition are going to look back at what caused them to retool
in the first place.
You know, we're getting a new Jurassic World movie on Wednesday.
we're getting a new Superman movie the following week.
And then two weeks later, we're getting the face six of the MCU's beginning with the Fantastic Four.
And we're looking back because they had to fix some things, right, with the DCU and Jurassic World.
And faces four and five of the MCU were kind of, eh.
So we're drafting the best of the worst that led to these 10-pole franchises deciding that,
we might need to start doing things a little bit differently.
So these categories will include the MCU, phase four onward.
So basically everything after Spider-Man far from home.
Correct.
Everything 2020 on movies only, no TV shows.
It gets a little too murky that way.
Then we're going with the DCEU, which is Man of Steel through Aquaman 2.
That's it.
No Batman.
You can't draft a Batman.
That's not part of the DCEU.
So we'll make that very clear
As it were there.
Yes.
So say we're calling this new Superman film
the birth of the gunverse,
I hope that there's a better name for that in the future.
But we're mainly just talking about the Snyderverse entries
when it comes to these.
Yes.
Bad Fleck only.
That Fleck only.
Correct.
Right, right.
Or Clooney Flick, if you like the Flash, how the Flash had.
Oh, yeah, that's right.
And then the Jurassic, the Jurassic World Movers.
Now, we have to include rebirth in the,
there because we have to make it four because there's four of us and be kind of weird if we only had three Jurassic World movies and then somebody was left without.
Although some might see that as a bonus, but you can't really, you can't say for sure.
And then a wild card.
Any of those categories, you can pluck one from there and make it a round little.
We each get four, right?
So does that make sense?
Did I explain it well for everybody?
They do call me, they do call me generally explainer, but I don't explain much.
anymore.
I mean, listen, you got it back to your roots and I appreciate that.
I'm doing what I can.
I think he was a return to form that was very good.
DC, what are your thoughts?
That sounds perfect.
Okay.
Matt, I'm well aware of the rules.
Yeah, MCU, DCU, Jurassic World and a wild card amongst those.
Nice.
My guys.
All right.
As per ring or draft bylaw section D subsection 1.9A.
You read that verbatim.
Really, you did.
We will do a snake draft with the draft order determined by our producer, Carlos.
Carlos let us know the draft order, por favor.
All right.
So with the first pick, Jomi.
Nice.
Look at that.
Nice. Look at that.
Matt?
Yes.
Coming in at number three, Steve.
Correct.
And then Daniel, you have the tail end of it.
All right.
All right.
We can work with that.
All right.
My laptop doesn't acknowledge Jomi,
but Carlos definitely does on this draft order.
Look at God.
So with the first pick.
So here's the problem, right?
You could go, you could just,
just pick best available or you can go value here.
Right.
Right.
And so I think because the smart thing to do is to go value.
Right.
But we have to, we have to, I'm just going to do what I need to do and pick best available.
Because I think ultimately it's not really going to matter.
And so for my first pick, I'm going.
I'm going to MCU
This is tough, man
I think
I'm going to go Spider-Man
No Way Home
Okay
Going I'm going
I'm going Spider-Man
No way home
With the three Spider-Man
Super fun
I don't know if it's the best movie
That they made in that
In that run
But it's definitely the most fun
We had you guys
Like Guardians
And we'll talk about
The other ones later
but I'm going to go with Spider-Man No Way Home.
That was my top MCU pick.
This is such an interesting thing because I do feel like that
that actually might be the best MCU Spider-Man entry that we have.
And I think in retrospect, I don't know if,
like, have we been running back No Way Home like I think that we should be or no?
So I did, like, initially, like, when it came out on, you know,
Kulu, whatever, whatever stars it was.
and I found myself having so much like when that when they all come together on screen
it shines like the back the back and forth is crazy and then when they start fighting
the villains on the you know trying to fix the statute of liberty and I'm just like yo man
this means something to me when they all flip and they all land and the music crescendos I'm like
yeah this is this is what it's all about man you know what I mean like I'm sorry like the movie
I'm not going to say it's not perfect. It's not perfect.
But I just remember, bro, we were there in the theater. This is the first time we met Charles.
Right? And we're sitting at a theater and normally at a press screening, we try to keep it, you know, calm.
Like nobody's doing too much. We were here clapping. We was hooting. We was hollering.
Man, maybe it was just part of the times we were in. But legitimately, it was an exceptional experience.
Watching Toby come out of the portal. Come on, man. That meant something. That messed something.
I'm afraid that, like, okay, Matt, tell me if I'm wrong.
You've seen the movie.
Yeah.
Do you feel like that magic trick only works once?
Yes.
In fact, someone had told me ahead of time.
It spoiled that that was going to happen.
That the old ones were going to come in.
But also, that was kind of the worst kept secret in pop culture at the time.
Right.
Like, nobody didn't think that they weren't going to show up.
Right.
Okay.
So when I heard about that, I thought, oh, that is going to be really difficult to pull off.
That is going to be like a really distracting.
cheesy cameo
and the explanation around that
is probably going to be so
convoluted and like tossed aside
and I think they actually
did as good a job with that
as they possibly could have
like I didn't find it distracting
it made sense without like
being a huge
explained off thing
and it had emotional resonance
to it too so
I love that movie
and that moment worked
and when I think of that movie
that's what I remember first
DC, you seem not as sure.
I mean, it's definitely the biggest, like, crowd-pleasing movie that there has been in the
multiverse saga.
And I think for a lot of reasons, like, it's, there's a lot of merit to that, too.
Like, they're, to Jomi's point, like, that's, that was the most, like, pure, like,
audience joy.
I think there's been in the MCU since endgame, and there hasn't really been that since.
But at the same time, like, I feel like there were some bad lessons that Marvel took from it as
well.
Sure.
Just, like, now everything's just a nostalgia grab, like,
Deadpool and Wolverine exists because of that movie too.
Like both movies, I feel like from a story standpoint, not really much there, but it's just like a cheat code when it comes to the box office and like really tapping into that whole nostalgia thing.
I think we're going to see a lot of that in the next Avengers movies too.
So there's definitely some good and some bad, I think, with it.
I would agree.
I would agree.
That's, I feel many ways about No Way Home, but I will say that for the time that it came out and for the like the one magical moment that it had, it really was.
trying to do something special.
And you know what?
It's a Spider-Man movie.
It's that simple, too.
Yeah, yeah.
That's true.
That's facts.
Where are you at?
Matt, you're next.
Okay.
Well, I'm going to do the only reasonable thing
that there is to do
and pick a movie
from the worst franchise
and with the few of selections.
I'm going to take Jurassic World,
a movie that I don't like
with my first pick.
You have to.
That's the value pick.
That's the value pick.
Yes.
You have to,
and I'm thinking about it,
but they like,
you take that first overall.
You kind of,
you know what I'm saying?
No, it's undignified.
It's really,
I see the vision.
I'm not going to put all my cars
on the table right now,
but there's some good Marvel movies in here.
He already took the best one,
in my opinion,
and all the DCU is a train wreck,
and Jurassic World is even worse.
So I'm going to pick Jurassic World,
a movie that I will say
I said that I don't like this movie.
And that's technically true.
But it's okay.
The problem I have with all of the Jurassic World movies is that they aren't attempting to do what I fell in love with when I saw Jurassic Park all the way back in the day.
I'm old as fuck I saw in the movie theater.
It was one of the first movies I saw in the movie theater.
That sense of, like, if you just listen to the Jurassic Park theme, you get that sense of wonder, that sense of adventure.
and all these Jurassic World movies are blockbuster dumb,
like popcorn movies with no real anything to say.
But, you know, I like some dumb movies.
And this dumb movie was pretty entertaining.
And it didn't go as far off the rails as some of the other ones in the series
where he's got like his hand in love at one point.
He's like running from like a thousand-degree ads.
It's the right pick to make.
It's the right pick to make.
I'm not mad at that.
It's like holding their hands up all the time to make sure.
And that like stops the dinosaur from eating you, I guess.
That was a whole trend.
It was.
Like zookeepers were going out.
With the hands out.
Yeah, it was a whole thing.
What a time capsule.
Anyway, yeah.
Thrilled to make my first.
Did we say that Chris Pratt peaked there?
No.
No.
No.
He was in adventures movies.
I understand that.
Within the franchise?
But no, I'm talking about like his career like.
In 2015?
In the, it got, yeah, because he had guardians, he did that.
He might have peaked like the day before that movie released.
Maybe.
People saw it.
Because I don't know, because then you get into the Mario's, then you get into the,
Mario Garfield, come on.
The time travel movies on Amazon.
Yeah.
I mean, peaked, you mean peaked as in like, that's his best work?
No, no, that's in the highest, like, cultural.
The height of his career.
I mean, yeah, he's the guy.
You call to do the voice.
He's the voice guy.
You need Garfield.
You need Mario.
right now.
Wait, come on.
He's got the next Super Mario Bros.
movie, too,
whatever that comes out.
He's going to make something funny off of.
We're talking, we're trying to talk trash.
Mario made a Billy.
Jurassic World made Billis.
Yes.
Guardians made Billy's brother.
The numbers do not lie.
I might credit his agent a little bit more.
His agent might work a little bit.
Oh, yeah. Best agent in Hollywood.
Oh, yeah.
So it's my pick now.
All right.
Again, I have to do, I think I have to do value here.
Got to go value.
I'm actually going to go Jurassic World Rebirth here.
So we've seen the movie.
We have seen the movie and we will not be spoiling anything here.
But I was shocked at how entertained I was by this movie.
And I think that this is more of a ringing endorsement than I've ever been willing to give for a Jurassic Park movie since the original, really, because most of them have been bad.
I wish I had seen that.
It feels like, yeah.
It really, really, really is a downer.
But, man, it's, no, I'm genuinely shocked at how much I like this.
Yeah, we don't want to get into it because we're going to read to talk about it on The Midnight Boys.
We're going to get into more detail.
But to echo Steve's point, the movie, like, I went in.
We talked about this on this very podcast at the beginning of the year where we're excited for this movie.
and I was like
it's dinosaurs,
Jurassic World.
I was dragging my feet.
I was like,
you were hating.
You were hating.
And we all left the theater going,
oh.
Oh, we kind of,
had a great time.
Pretty good.
Yeah,
we'll talk about,
again,
we'll get into the more,
the deeper merits and what we enjoyed.
Here's what I will spoil.
It was awesome.
It was a fun time.
Zero,
Chris Pratt.
We can say that.
Yes, we can.
And if that helps or hinders your,
the speed at which you see this
at the multiplex,
there you go.
There you go.
DC, you got two picks.
Go for it.
I got to say, I'm very surprised
that first round
we have two Jurassic World movies.
It's only four.
It's slim pickings over here.
It's only four.
Fair enough.
All right, well, so for my first pick,
I feel like I had to do it.
I'm going with MCU.
I'm going with Shang Chi and the legend
of the Ten Rings.
Okay.
I had to do it.
Go for it.
DC.
Go for it.
You take it.
Tell them how you feel.
Tomlin food.
I still got a lot of for this movie.
I feel like if it weren't for the third act,
where it gets a little messy,
and we got the CGI dragons fighting and all that,
this is like still a very good
and very underrated MCU movie.
And like Tony Leung as Wenwu is like one of the great,
like I still can't believe I got him to do a Marvel movie.
Like there are some amazing action sequences in that movie.
I think it's a damn shame that we haven't gotten a sequel yet.
And it just shows, it speaks to like how much disarray Marvel Studios has really been like back in the day.
Any one of these movies would have gotten like two sequels by this point.
If it did well, it's a blockbuster.
But now it had to go off and do all these different movies and spread the multiverse a little too thin.
But anyway, as my first pick, I'm going with Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Yeah.
I love it.
And since I get back to back, I am going to go with another MCU pick.
take some of the MCU movies off the board.
So you guys are left with more of the weaklings here.
Nice.
You're going offensive, bro.
I see it.
Yeah, come on, come on.
It's a little tricky, though,
because it's going to be a while since it comes back around to me.
But I think I'm going to go for my second pick,
Black Panther, Wakanda, forever.
Ooh.
Ooh, interrante, interrante.
All right, that's fine.
Third thing, you hit the nail around the head with Shang-Chi.
Once they leave Macau and go,
to the magical spot,
it kind of falls off a little bit.
And then once they fight dragons,
it's like, all right, bro.
All right, guys, good.
Go on.
You know, we asked them good here.
When it was, like, legitimately just, like,
the martial arts movie,
it was gas.
Oh, my God, dude.
The bus scene, the scene in, again, in Macau,
like on the roof with the helicopters and the lights
and just the hand-to-hand.
Legitimately awesome filmmaking.
And I wish the movie would have been more of that, you know?
Yeah.
Take it Wakanda forever, man.
You're probably right.
You're probably right.
I just, the movie just made me sad, man.
That's all.
Yeah.
I mean, okay, here's what I'll say.
Yeah, man.
I'll explain my pick first, see, because I forgot I didn't do that forever.
Well, first of all, this is a little bit of, this is I just watched this because I was
preparing for Ironheart.
And I was like, damn, you know, a lot of this is still hidden for me.
Yeah.
But I think with that movie, although it has its flaws, it is so crazy how difficult a position they were to make that movie work after Chadwick's death.
And to be able to put that like real life grief into this fictional movie and like bake that into the way that this story is built and all the way the characters are interacting with it.
I thought it was like so brilliant and so hard to pull off in a movie like this.
And there are some genuinely incredible performances like Angela Bassett deserved that Oscar over Jamie Lee Curtis.
and everything everywhere all at once.
There is another really good villain.
I feel like a lot of what's been lacking in the multiverse saga
is just not great villains.
And No More and when we were both like really,
really strong villains.
I think that's both,
both films' strength are its villains,
which, like, it used to be that the MCU had a bit of a villain problem
in a post-end game world,
but that was absolutely a very good place.
us in that category for them.
I'm kind of hamstrung
when it comes to Marvel Picks now.
But I think if I were to throw it back to me
and bring it to Marvel,
I would want to put Multiverse of Madness
because there actually is a lot of fun elements there
that I was really, really, really into.
I think that musical note fight is actually
like one of the truly inspired moments
in the MCU in any phase.
And I think that there were a lot of ideas
that they threw against a wall.
I think it ultimately ended up being
like a boring world
where people just wore weird hats.
And I'm like, you could have done anything
with the multiverse and you just went there.
So we could have done a little bit better with that.
But there were some great ideas.
I still think that they fucked over the character of Wanda
in a bad way that I really don't like.
Lots of problems.
That movie had so much hype,
not in like, you know,
like, it's going to, the whole thing
was going to change the MCU.
It's going to redefine what the multiverse is
and the MCU. Oh my gosh.
We're going to see so many characters
to see this, that, and the best,
like, the lasting thing from that movie
is Captain Carter, guys.
That's the thing that stuck around.
And it's not what you want, right?
This is ultimately not what you want.
They did Wander Dirty.
We haven't seen, I mean, we, now we haven't seen Dr. Strange after that, right?
His whole third eye thing was, was, yes.
He got to Kyrie and then that was gone.
He was gone, you know?
Like, it's just, it sucks because the premise, the things that the movie,
we imagine the movie to be, maybe that's just us and we continue to do this ourselves
where we go, oh, man.
And this has the chance to change the whole Marvel cinematic universe.
And they're like, actually, nothing happened.
Here's America Chavez for the Young Avengers.
And then everything else is the same, except Wanda is dead.
She's never coming back.
It's over.
Like, I think to Steve's point, Sam Ramey does do some cool stuff in there.
Like, there's a scene at the end where Wanda is fighting like Dr.
The Strange Demons.
and she's like going from thing to thing.
Yeah.
Like it looks pretty cool.
And we got the magic friend.
Yeah.
All that stuff is fun.
It does some interesting stuff.
But in terms of what we thought it was going to do for the MCU.
It was not it.
They should have just let Sam Ramey cook more too.
It's like I feel like my biggest problem with that movie was like the Sam Ramey elements worked really well to me.
But it felt like it was like a Sam Ramee movie like at odds with a Marvel movie.
And it just like created a messy mixture of the two because of.
And that was just a bit more of a microcosm of the problem that the MCU kept seeming to trip itself over with.
Exactly. Yeah. Because every time that we were going into one of these movies were like, oh man, this is going to be the one that changes it up. And all of these things are going to come together. And it's going to make it. And like was a bit a bit more part of fan expectations as well as how they were leaning into the marketing of that. Yes. There was a given take there. But every single time we came in with like, this is going to be the next big thing. And it wasn't. And.
now we were just kind of like looking to thread some even connective tissue.
Matt,
what was like one of the bigger things that like you came away from multiverse of madness
with like kind of like wanting?
Well, I just thought like I, you know,
the Wandaverse show, right?
And multiverse of madness like don't feel like they are in the same universe somehow.
Like just the like the Wanda in those two things are different Wanda.
to me, despite them being played by the same person.
And I just kind of couldn't get past that.
And I was really looking forward to this movie.
And I think visually, it delivered, like, all of, like, what an experience visually.
But, yeah, I just didn't like what they did with the Wanda character.
She wasn't, like, relatable.
I didn't really believe her, like, motivations.
And I just, the whole thing kind of cracked under that for me.
It's almost like the writers and directors didn't watch Wanda Vision.
and just made the movie.
And also said that.
And told everybody that.
And told everybody that, but they were like, you have to watch Wanda Vision.
You have to watch WandaVision.
Come on, guys.
Come on, guys.
It's whack, but what can you do?
You know?
Matt, is you, buddy?
It's me.
I'm going to MCU.
I'm not dumb.
What am I going to pick a DC movie right now?
It's not going to happen.
I'm going to pick Guardians 3.
I was waiting for Guardians 3 to come off the board
I was surprised
I was tempted by too
I'm surprised it's still here for me
I was shocked that got back to you that
Yeah
Well you know I'm no fool
I'm gonna pick that one
Guardians I like all the Guardians movies
And the third one I also enjoy too
It's also not a perfect movie
As we could pretty much say about almost every single thing
We're talking about today
But there was
an emotional depth to this
movie that was surprisingly moving and emotional.
And I didn't expect to the degree that it was to move me in addition to having some
really great action sequences.
And it felt like a good tie up for the previous two movies.
I just really enjoyed this a lot.
I was going to say, is this the first Guardians Who Without Daddy issues?
I mean, basically, the high evolutionary is Rocket's father.
So it's basically a daddy issue movie.
Here's what I'm concerned about.
If James Gunn also uses this manipulative cheat code of abusing and imperiling animals
in order to get emotional depth out of us.
Well, I mean, he did it in the Guardians movies.
That's what, you know, Rocket and Groot for the most part.
perspective of Superman.
I mean, he's going to do it with crypto.
We know that.
That's why there's a lot of crypto
in the trailers so far
is what I've noticed.
Right.
I don't know if you guys saw
the clip from
Oh yeah,
there's a clip going around
of Superman.
Spoilers for Superman
if you don't want to be spoiled
by clips,
but there's a clip where...
Yeah, we don't have to,
well, we don't have to spoil it.
Okay.
Let's,
because people get mad.
Crypto might be in peril.
Yeah, well,
okay, that's not a spoiler
because it's a dog in a danger movie.
Again, but more so affirming
the fact that crypto might be in peril.
Yeah,
It's a dog in a James Gun movie.
The dog's going to be in trouble, right?
And so actually, that makes me think of Batman.
And who's going to be the animal slash dog and Batman that we have to protect,
that is going to throw in our face and make us love so that we don't.
We get mad when it gets taken.
And then we have to use our emotional attachment to animals to make us sad in the movie.
And then leave the movie going, wow, that was really emotional.
Is there no bat dog?
That was never a thing.
All our decades of Batman history, there's never been a bad dog.
Let's look this up.
Is there a bat dog?
Ace the bat hound.
There you go.
There you go.
Let me tell you something right now.
If we get Ace the Bat hound and James Gunn's Batman, shut the whole thing down.
He's not serious.
I'm going to call the bad dog.
He's not being a serious individual.
Wasn't Kevin Hart the voice of that dog for the, didn't they deal like a super pet?
He was.
He was.
Right?
That's crazy that you could.
get that off the top of your head, Daniel.
We're talking about it.
It's not like when you hear Kevin Hart's voice,
you can't not be like, oh, Kevin Hart.
I didn't remember the name of the dog.
I just knew it was Kevin Hart in this movie.
But he also did The Secret Life of Pets,
and you could have told me that both of those movies
were the same and I would have believed you.
A lacklist of ride at Universal Studios, I may add.
The Secret Life of Pets?
Yes, they got a Secret Life of Pets ride.
And you went on it?
Yeah, I did.
You don't have better things to do?
I was more of like, all right, we're here.
There's no line.
Let's check it out.
Jesus Christ.
I love yourself.
I wasn't.
It was one of those rides where it's just like you go through a bunch of diaramas.
It's like a kid's right.
Yeah, it's kids.
Diarramas.
Don't hate on kids rides.
Yeah,
no,
I don't hate it on kids rides.
I'm hating on Seaguer Life of Pets ride.
Right.
That's different.
Listen,
if you went to Carl,
cars at Disneyland,
that would have just been,
without the race that goes at the end of it,
that would have just been the diaromas.
But you need the race, though.
The race is fun.
I understand that.
You're competitive.
You're trying to win.
Not if you're a tiny child.
Exactly.
Well, no,
the tiny children need to know what
competitiveness is. You have to know that.
That's right. If you ain't first, you're last. Right. Exactly.
I get two picks.
You're right. Right now.
Let me, man,
I was kind of hoping that Guardians 3 were falling.
Yeah, I bet you were. I'm not going to mind to you.
But here's what I will do.
For my
for my wild card,
I'm going to take
Thunderbolt.
bolts.
I knew it.
Wow.
I knew it.
Honestly,
that's very encouraging.
That's a movie.
Well,
look, brother,
if you kind of look down
the list,
there's not really a bunch
of better options.
And,
uh,
that's where I was going next.
I,
I could,
I could have got Eternals,
but let's be honest.
You could have gone to turn us.
I like Eternus.
Y'all not mess with Eternals.
I know y'all not.
I know y'all not.
I think we really,
really,
really, really need to like reexamine that.
I was there.
I was like,
eternal was cool.
y'all was hating it was a little long but the thing the the the message got across at least for me
yeah but thunderbolts is something that i think the mcc could really really really build on like
the template of you you take all these characters we kind of maybe don't mess with too much and
i'm legitimately thinking blade uh moon night all these like midnight suns type characters and you put
them in a movie where you make them fight vampires whatever and you just do it cheap and you do it
fun and you make it interesting.
Like Suicide Squad, right?
Kind of.
Kind of.
Kind of.
I'm kind of kidding.
You're kind of kidding.

Speaking of Suicide Squad.
Oh, okay.
That's going to be my DC EU pick.
Okay.
Oh, okay.
James Guns.
Oh, brother.
Just, okay.
I was going to say.
2021.
The.
James Cous.
The.
I was going to say, I believe it's called V.
The Suicide Squad.
Yes.
Like when players are drafted from the...
The Ohio State.
No, guys, let me tell you something.
Nobody's going to draft 2016 suicide squad.
I don't think that's on the table.
That was legitimately one of the worst films I've ever seen in my entire life.
And I don't mean that in like hyperbole.
I don't mean that to, you know, be excited.
I left the theater going, what in the actual hell did I just witness?
Right.
And so when James Gunn is like, hey, man, we're doing it again.
Yeah, suicide squad, baby, lock me.
And I was like, all right, man, yeah, y'all not.
We've already been here, guys.
What are we doing?
And again, this is like, you know, we're not in the theaters right now.
I think it did come out in theaters, but I watched it at home on the HBO Max or whatever
it was called at the time.
And I'm not going to say, like, pleasantly surprised is not like the right term.
But I was like, oh, my gosh, this was a bless.
This is a joy.
Obviously, when you have Margaret.
Robby doing her Harley Quinn.
She's great.
And you lose Will Smith, but you gain Ilchasellba.
And he's doing a great job.
And John Sina is acting his ass off as a peacemaker to the point where they're like,
give him a show, you know?
I thought what Suicide Squad did was very fun and very intentional.
Again, it's James Gunn doing James Gunn stuff.
But I just, I remember watching that scene where, uh,
Idriselba and John Cena's characters are like having like a literally a dick measuring contest with the weapons.
Right.
And they're like shooting people.
Like how did you kill so and so?
And that's funny, man.
It's funny, man.
There's a lot of funny moments in that movie.
It's, it's really, really fun and interesting.
So that's where I'm going with my DC EU pick is the suicide squad.
The suicide squad.
Not from 2016, but 2021.
Be very clear.
All right, well, I'm in a tough place right now, I think.
Not too tough, man, you got it.
All right, well, what am I?
I'm not going to pick a DC movie again.
Just kidding.
I'm going to do my wild card.
Okay.
So we're running out of tolerable MCU movies.
I'm going to pick Thor, Love, and Thunder.
And I think that's...
That was safe for me, buddy.
That is very safe for most people.
Okay, so...
Look, this movie...
is fun.
It's dumb and it's fun.
And it has funny moments.
And I think it's hated on way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way too much.
Okay.
Real quick, we're quick, real quick, real quick.
Real quick, we're quick.
Like, if you think of it in the way we think of our Jurassic World movies,
this is stupid, just entertain me.
And this movie does that.
And I know that people hate on this movie because Thor used to not be like that.
The franchise was just like, there are some.
good stuff in there and this is a character that people really care about and it's not really
in line with that but it's it's big and dumb and it's funny and it's fun to look at too so here's the
thing here's the thing right i was gonna say is this a tort of the forge it's not that bad i was going
to ask in what in what way is that a jury the forge because there are pandering pick no no
no there are way better more options and effect that that's where you went
Then what?
The field is already pretty limited.
That's what I'm getting at.
That's where I'm getting at.
Not only is it the third round,
but I'm looking at the list.
And there's like one.
Let's talk about what Steve has.
There's one, maybe two Marvel movies.
And he thinks Eternal's is good.
Exactly.
One or two movies where I can say,
like, you got to put this,
you got to put, you can't put Love and Thunder
over this movie.
But it's getting pretty thin.
So it's not quite a drool of forage,
but it is tough.
I'm offended that you would even think to say.
In mass defense, we're going like dumpster diving right now.
You know what I mean?
We're at the $5 bid at Walmart.
And we're just good.
I'm pretty sure you all brought me on this episode because it was like a hater episode, right?
No, we're reminiscing on all the good times we had before all these new properties.
As we go on.
Yeah, right.
As they remember, love and thunder.
Right.
As they wipe their hands of these iterations of the MCU, the DCEU, and the old Jurassic World movies,
we're looking back like, oh, man, remember how bad it was?
Yeah.
Remember how good it kind of was?
Here's what I will say.
When there are two things.
One, it was the black and white fight on that planet with Gore.
That was fun.
That was cool.
That was neat.
And the one joke where, where Thor's asses.
Ax is jealous of the hammer.
It's so funny.
And it comes out of frame and like turns like a goose neck and looks.
That was funny.
That was funny.
Here's what I'll say.
Y'all who haven't picked a Jurassic World movie yet.
Yeah.
You don't have an option that is better than Thor, Love and Thunder.
True.
Very true.
Very true.
Unfortunately, that is facts.
And none of them have a floating child's head Skype calling in.
Axel, what the hell was that, man?
Come on, Axel.
My logic for, my plan was always just to pick the Jurassic World movie last because no matter
what it is to me, it's already just so, once you guys pick the bottom.
Yeah.
It's so.
At that point it was like, all right, I'm getting garbage.
For sure.
All right, well, I won't beat the pandering allegations because my DC pick is going to be
birds of prey.
Oh.
Okay.
Forget about it.
Yeah.
Y'all forget about it.
Steve, I was actually, that was going to be my DC pick.
so I'm with you.
Birds of prey is good.
It's, it's, it's, it's, it's all right.
It's okay.
I got away.
I can't laugh.
What's that, what's that,
that meme from,
a, uh,
death note?
I can't laugh.
I got to hold it in.
I can't laugh again.
I got to hold it in.
No, this is funny.
No, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,
that's not what happened.
Right.
That's not what happened.
I like birds of prey or Harley Quinn or the,
or the, birds of prey,
the abatcipation.
I couldn't even tell you.
I couldn't even tell you the full time.
Yeah.
And tabulous emancipation of one Harley Quinn.
That was the second to last movie I saw before the Cudy shut us down.
The last one I saw was 1917.
So you can imagine how great the vibes were at that point.
But I liked it a lot.
E.
E. McGregor, as Black Mask, thought was a great villain.
Barry Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress,
that little gag she would do when she was trying to introduce herself in the mirror.
It was really tough.
And then she tried to talk to people and she'd be like, oh, I'm interested.
Excuse me?
I thought the whole movie was a blast and really fun.
And they should have done more with that, honestly.
Because like I mentioned for Suicide Squad,
I thought Margot Margot Robbie as, as Holly Quinn is an inspired casting.
I thought she did an amazing, amazing job with that character,
despite all this stuff people might say about Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey.
I thought she as that character was awesome.
Absolutely.
You were talking about Thunderbolts,
how that was such a good example of a successful ensemble cast movie.
And I felt like Birds of Prey was not quite there in terms of making every character feel like they had been developed enough and felt like their, you know, motivations all made sense.
That happens in Thunderballs.
And although I do like a bunch of stuff in Birds of Prey, I didn't feel like the ensemble was like actually nailed there in terms of the backstories and everything.
I mean, sure.
But again, like it's a Harley Quinn movie.
it was labeled as such.
Some would say too long.
And just calling it birds of prey is fun enough.
But I just, I really think that this was the thing that while DC was trying to emulate the Marvel playbook, they actually got it right.
And instead they meandered from like the remnants of like a shambolic Snyderverse that like was still trying to find leadership just before James Gunn hit the scene.
and it's a shame because if they had gotten that right,
who knows what could have happened.
But instead, they, you know, they listen to those other things.
And yes, I'm very happy that we're getting a Superman.
I'm very happy that we're getting a bright, shining new set of toys to play with.
But Man Birds of Pray was really fun.
Cassandra Canis in this movie.
Yes.
That's crazy to think about.
Crazy.
Crazy to think about.
Very underrated DC movie.
And especially just like all the movies that were coming out around it too were just like so bad that when that came up.
and it was actually like pretty solid movie.
Yeah.
Yeah.
They could just all be this way.
You got two, DC?
Yep.
Two for me.
I'm going to go with my DC pick now.
That was going to be mine, Steve.
But I think now I will go with the next one that was on my list,
Man of Steel.
Go back to all the way, I guess, in the beginning of the DCU.
Noticing.
Don't see.
Let's keep it going.
I, he, he, he,
Here's the thing. It's been a long time since I've seen Man of Steel.
It's truly been a long time.
And I don't think that...
Russell Crow's great.
Is he?
No, Michael Shannon's great.
Michael Shannon is great.
Michael Shannon is great.
Michael Shannon is great.
He's legitimately great in that movie.
Michael Shannon is great.
He's doing something that was scenery chewing in a way that we actually don't acknowledge enough
for like a really grandiose big,
villain that Zod was.
That's probably the best part of the movie
was Zod, right? Yeah, no, it absolutely was.
I can't
think of this other than the
like the
palette, like the palette setting,
like the tone setter that was absolutely
not the right call.
For everything going forward.
Well, it's the
rock that the DCEU
was founded upon. Yeah.
And when your foundation is that
On this rock, I shall build my church.
And the rock was sand.
Yeah.
No, the rock was black atom.
Come on.
The power dynamic, the DCU did not change.
It's something that I think in the moment we were like, okay, that was cool.
But you can't build an extending universe so bleak, so sad, so, like, dark.
There's no light there.
They're ugly.
The early ones are ugly movies to look at.
But why did you?
pick this one. I want to hear about it. Okay. So yeah, well, what I'll say about it is,
you guys are all right. Again, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're,
all these picks are going to have a lot of caveats to it. I will say that I think some parts of
the movie worked. I, I thought that Henry, Henry, Henry, Wivill was a good Superman. Um, I genuinely
think that the opening where Krypton is destroyed is very good. Oh, yeah. Yeah, that, that, that, that is
actually an electric, like, sequence. And then to me, the movie goes downhill a lot, which is tough,
because that's literally opening.
But that's the way I felt about like Wonder Woman as well.
Like when they're in the Miscera, like great opening.
And then the movie kind of goes downhill.
Yeah.
But there were some redeeming qualities of it.
And to Jomi, to your point about just how it was built on this foundation,
to me, I think the bigger issue was that they jumped right from this to Batman versus Superman,
Dawn of Justice.
And they just really rushed their whole world building and trying to get their Avengers
because DC kind of just panicked.
And make another Superman movie first, right?
Just make a sequel to a Man of Steel.
Like there was enough there.
Like there were enough redeeming qualities.
I think there was a lot of things that worked well with it.
And then just generally like, again, like the whole Snyderverse aesthetic, I think just didn't work.
But like there were parts of this that I thought were interesting.
And like if they were to build on it, like I would have rather have seen that than the direction that they went where they were to like, all right.
Now we're going to go immediately to here's Batman and Wonder Woman in the same movie.
And now we're going to have the Justice League all at once.
Like it just got a little bit too messy.
Can I apply that philosophy to my next pick?
Well, he's got another one.
Oh, no, you do.
You do.
Yeah, you have to have one.
Oh, no.
Speaking of Dumbus to die.
What are the Jurassic World movies that have been taken so far?
You have Fallen Kingdom or Dominion.
Oops.
Oh, my God.
Yeah, man.
Yeah, man.
Is Fallen Kingdom like the Avengers version of this where they brought up the old?
That's Dominion.
They got everybody back together.
That's the meaning.
Okay.
So I'll pick the other one.
Fallen Kingdom.
The other one, great pick.
The other one is great pick. That's what they're in like a honed house, pretty much, right?
That's a great pick, Daniel.
We'll hold to discuss on it when he gets to my pick.
Right.
So don't worry about it.
We'll come back to you.
You got Fallen Kingdom.
That's you.
When it's my turn, we will talk about both of those movies.
Okay.
Brilliant, brilliant.
Steve, you're up.
So with my pick, with the same philosophy that DC just gave for picking Man of Steel,
I'm going to pick
Zach Snyder's Justice League.
All right, yeah, okay.
This is your wild card?
None of you guys are being serious right now.
So, okay.
None of you guys are being serious right now.
As exhausting, like,
this kind, it goes against
a lot of like my moral fiber
because I technically don't think that the Snyder cut
should exist because it's technically
here because a bunch of internet trolls
harassed people enough to get this made
for Warner Brothers to just like spend
like a handful of millions of dollars
to let Snyder
recut this movie and reshoot a bunch of
shit. But
there's
a philosophy
in the man of
steel that like if you set this world
that dark, that bleak,
I can't deny
that
Snyder's Justice League is
the evolved and like complete
version of that vision.
And like when the chains are
off and when Snyder can do everything that he can, that he's possibly allowed to do,
you do get this.
And there are interesting and cool things that, like, appear in this movie.
Right, right, right, right.
I liked that chase with Steppenwolf and the Themiskeira.
Yeah.
I liked a couple of things that, like, I don't like that it was black and white.
I don't like the aspect ratio.
I don't like that.
I don't like that it's like four hours long.
Yeah.
But there's a story with Cyborg that actually kind of plays and knowing that like things are working like the bad in this movie is there.
But it makes sense now.
It makes more sense knowing that that's what you were doing.
I'd rather, I'd hear you because I would rather watch a bad movie that makes sense than a bad movie that doesn't make sense.
And it's and it's very convoluted and it's uber violent for no reason.
But like that looks kind of cool.
Like you see like a thymuskira chop a dude in half
And there's blood everywhere
And Steppenwolf gets his head chopped off
And a bunch of all other cool shit
And like seeing the back and forth
Between the Whedon cut
And the Snyder cut of like how certain scenes played out
It's actually kind of neat and fun
And it absolutely is better than that god awful thing
Hey so real quick
And I know this is gonna sound crazy
From the dude who thinks that like
The ultimate edition of Batman versus Superman
Is not like actually bad
Carlos, can you
to me a quick favor?
Throughout all of Steve's
tirade, can you put booze
and people throwing tomatoes?
That unfortunately is not in the soundboard
at the moment.
That's one of the worst things I've ever heard
in my entire life.
Trying to defend that movie
is legitimately some of the...
I'm Simone Biles with these mental
gymnastics, okay?
I don't know.
Mental flipping,
just, what are you talking about, brother?
We were all there.
We all saw it.
It was a waste of.
I was also living in my home for like the better part of like a year when that movie came out.
So we're almost.
Yes, and I was losing my mind.
And I sat there and I watched four hours.
And the thing is, it would be one thing if it was like incredibly way better than the first destiny we got.
If it was miles and miles and miles and it changed how you like completely the movie,
I would be like, oh, my fault, gang.
that saw me
I must have made a mistake
it is
it takes a movie
that's like
bad to being like
meh
okay
right
that's
and for
it to be four hours
in that aspect
ratio
and with all the chapter
stuff
and black and white
and hey guess what
black and white
movies can't be good
but like
here's Martian Manhunter
he
yeah
like don't waste my time
credits of the
of the apocalypse
stuff
what are we doing
did you did you watch this
like just sitting at home watching it on the TV or something.
So here's what exactly.
I'll tell you exactly what I went.
I was at home and I did a thing on Twitter when that was cool at the time.
And I did, Jomi drinks the Dax Sider's Justice League.
And so I made like, I got really drunk.
Oh, I remember this.
And watch.
It was a legendary threat.
It was like filmed myself like halfway.
And by the time, it was like, again, four hours.
It was bad.
It was bad.
It was just more of like a mental gauntlet you put.
yourself through.
For no reason.
For no reason other than we.
And I wouldn't even like,
I wouldn't even pop in at the time.
It was just like,
what am I doing?
Like, let's have some fun.
The movie stinks.
But I think if I am like seeing how you're seeing it, Steve.
Yeah.
There is something about like it being stylistically like,
I'm doing this.
This is what I'm doing.
Yeah.
And this is a story I'm telling.
Now, you could have done that in three movies.
It didn't need just the one.
right let's get us kind of make it a little simple and there was a lot going on behind the scenes as to why
Snyder walked away from the project personal and professional yeah yeah but just in terms of
brother you just got to make them like just make a movie don't make the movie make a and that's a
weird thing because the amalgamation of what the discourse on the internet was was because
it's like all of these Snyder bros like needed this to happen yeah and the amount
of obnoxious online campaigns that
like are genuinely
like ranged from annoying
to like borderline harmful
and as much as I don't want to give that oxygen
the movie that came out from it
like I just
I'm kind of between
you and Jomey on this but I feel like I have the
optimal viewing experience of watching this movie
on my iPad over several settings
while working on a single sitting
and in that context and in that context
text, I thought it was all right.
Great.
Absolutely.
And I also didn't listen to the discourse because I avoided it as much as possible.
It's all right.
It was tough.
It was tough.
You got one?
Is it up to me now?
It's back to me.
All right.
All right.
So I actually finally have to pick a DC movie.
There you go.
Never wanted to be in this position.
I'm going to take Shazam.
This is incredible.
Oh, my God.
God. You know what? Good for you.
Oh my God. This is crazy.
There are no right answers here.
Good for you.
I'm picking the first one, not the second one.
Of course.
Wow. I genuinely thought the first Shazam was like almost great.
This is my whole list is dumb stuff that is kind of okay.
And it's funny. And and it's...
You know what it reminds me of? Like early 2000s adventure schlock.
Well, I also...
80s kids level.
Yeah.
You meet a wizard on the subway and give you.
The movie big in superhero form.
And I love big growing up and, you know, they didn't step on a giant piano and dance a tune-out.
You know, there was some vibes there.
People's phones.
Questionable relations, you know.
Look, almost all the DC movies left are pretty bad.
Not true.
Okay.
The only other one I was considering really was Blue Beetle.
Oh, my God.
Guys!
Come on now.
Easy, easy, easy.
Which is another movie that's not very good.
What movie are you talking about that could possibly warrant this response?
Wonder Woman was right there.
The first Wonder Woman was right there.
People love the first Wonder Woman.
Guys, this is crazy.
The opening of that movie is fantastic.
The opening of that movie is fantastic.
No, I mentioned it.
I mentioned it earlier.
We were talking about that the mascara opening earlier.
Because I think that and Krypton, those like two things really work well.
the third act of Wonder Woman is terrible.
It's garbage.
Right.
With Aries.
With Aries?
With Aries?
Right.
But Shazam?
Yeah.
I like, I can dig Shazam.
I rocked Shazam.
Zach's Matters Justice.
Guys, come on.
Let's be for real.
Come on, man.
It is a, yeah, sure.
That's nuts.
It's not nuts.
No, no, no.
I have, but the exception of Guardians theory,
I have picked all movies that are bad movies that are kind of fun.
You said, you were like, hey, yo, I'm picking Shazam.
You know what else is on my list?
Yeah.
Not Wonder Woman.
Blue Beetle.
That's crazy, man.
This nuts.
Honestly, what I think it is,
1984, man, Poisoned Water, man.
1884, that's true, too.
It's actually incredible.
You can't go back.
I mean, that's, that movie ruined my Christmas.
1984?
Ruin my Christmas.
It's not a joke because the movie showed up.
On Max, on like 2020, Christmas, my whole family's there.
I'm like, I cook for my family, so I made like my first ever prime rib, man.
Fast ever.
Mass potatoes, the whole thing.
How to go.
It was, oh, dude, the food was delicious.
The movie was not.
Fun.
Right.
And again, whole family, we're like together, Christmas time.
Let's enjoy a film together.
And we're sitting there eating our prime rib.
And we're like, hey, turn this off.
I want my money back.
The idea sounded so good, too.
No, it actually sounded great.
And you're right.
Wonder Woman is a good movie with the exception of like, you know, the end is messy.
Oh, gee, a superhero movie with third act problems will be here all day.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
I get hating on me for picking Shazam over Wonder Woman.
I think that's valid.
But, but.
Birds of prey?
I messed up with the Snyder cut over Wonder Woman.
Praise of prey, dog.
Yeah, birds of prey.
I don't know, man.
Yeah, birds of prey over Wonder Woman.
I don't know.
man.
I do know.
I feel like when I went, I thought it was going to be
Suicide Squad or Wonder Woman.
We're going to be the top two.
And the fact that man of steel,
nah, man.
I understand.
Why do y'all hate women?
Here's a quick sidebar.
Quick sidebar.
Where do you stand on, because you were talking about cooking prime rib.
Right.
Where do you stand on meat thermometers that hook up to your phone?
That's fine.
I think the...
Why do they need to do that?
I mean, it's the future, right?
You already got your phone on you.
Right.
Why do you need your fridge to connect to the internet?
That I don't quite understand.
Yeah, no.
The future is stupid.
But you have like, you have like the meter probes, right?
You stick them in the meat.
That actually is a great.
TM, M-E-A-T-R.
You don't need your meter.
You don't need it on your Wi-Fi.
You don't need your M-Fi.
I'm saying you don't.
But if you want to keep it with you, though, if you want to like,
you're not always in the kitchen, right?
So if you are smoking a meat, if you're smoking a briskey.
Oh, you check it on the app.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You don't have to walk over there.
Usually one that takes a long time.
Okay.
But there's a discourse that I saw because I trolled red for like a better like meat thermometer.
And there was a discourse between people that are like anti-app meat thermometer because like a true like connoisseur of cooking should want to watch the food that they're cooking.
I'm not on meat watch.
I just can't fathom cooking.
something and being like further away from the further away from the thing to not see it immediately.
Like I've never cooked in a place where like I have to have an app to check the thing in the other room because I'm in a tiny kitchen.
I can see the temperature.
Usually, you're right.
I think that is all malarkey and hogwash.
That's fine.
Because people aren't you want.
So if I make, I make stakes for myself all the time.
And I know how I like my stakes.
I can pretty much eyeball it.
But if I'm making medium rare.
Medium rare.
But if I'm making steaks for people, you know, I'm making steaks for people.
people, I want those to come out just right.
Right.
Right.
I can try and, but you never know.
You don't want to mess up cooking.
You can mess a cooking for yourself.
Your steak comes out a little dry.
That's the experiment.
It is what it is, right?
You come out and you cook for somebody and they state come out a little dry.
It's over.
There's no coming back from that.
So you use your meat thermometer.
People are like, oh, you can't, you don't want to do that.
No, no, no.
When you, especially when you're cooking for folks, make sure you're using your meat thermometer.
This isn't a five-star restaurant where like you got to just like, you press the thing
on your fingers.
Exactly, right?
I'm not a professional stuff.
Sure.
We're not professional steps.
We don't need to know how everything needs to look and how it needs to smell.
It'd be great, you know, because you, I'm sure you'd cook nice, but ultimately, at home
people, you don't need to be like, oh, man, I need to check those potatoes every 10 seconds
because I'm a shit.
No, man, like, chill out, relax.
It's not that serious.
Just like Wonder Woman 1984.
It's not that serious.
I was like trying to remember the segue into this conversation.
When the Sinaiverse cooks the best steak, DC go.
I think it's Jonathan Kent.
Interesting.
Jonathan's R.I.P. Man. R.I.I. I don't mean.
Oh, yeah.
Kevin Koster, man, knows the way we're out of grill.
Do you think when it's time to take the meat out of the grill? He just goes, stop.
Absolutely.
And it stops cooking. That's got to be one of the low points of the DC.
Good fucking God. That's the movie you picked, by the way.
I'll never forget that. I'll never forget that.
That's your movie. That brings that movie down several notches, but.
everybody and it's and it should be made fun of to this day.
I have to pick Jurassic World Dominion.
Yes, you do.
You have to.
I have to pick Jurassic World Dominion and I'll be very clear.
I'm not going to lie to the audience.
You have not seen it.
I know.
I have, brother.
Okay.
I will tell you a story.
Let me tell you.
I will tell you a story.
We are at Central City.
We are at Century City.
We just got finished watching Light Year, right?
For Mint Edition.
It's me, Steve, Arjuna,
Mal
Arjuna's then
fiancé now wife
and then Mal and Adam
her partner
and we watch
a lot of year
like oh it was cool
it was fun whatever
and we go to get lunch
at Central City
I have to be
at Staples
later that night
for a Sparks game
and so I'm like
I guess I got to just
stay up here
what am I going to do
and they're giving out
they're basically handing out
tickets to Dominion
it's like $5
and everybody's like
Johnny don't do it
John me, don't do it.
Oh, yeah, I remember this.
I remember this now.
Just figure something out.
Like, you'll be all.
I was like, one or the CC mall.
Wonder the CC mall.
I'm like, I have four, like, four or five hours to kill.
I can't like just watch, walk around the mall for five hours.
Like, this will kill at least like 2.30.
Like, it cannot be that bad.
Yes.
Ladies and gentlemen, it was that bad.
Well, congratulations on picking this movie.
It was, it was awful.
And why I wanted to wait to discuss Fallen Kingdom and Dominion?
Because Fallen Kingdom is terrible.
They do this thing where this, the main little character,
because there's always like a child character in these movies.
And she's a clone.
And like part of her DNA in the dinosaurs, whatever, blah, blah, blah.
And the movie is so stupid and so ridiculous.
There's even a scene of a dinosaur running into a pillar
and shaking his head like a looning to his character.
It's completely and utterly unsurious.
Legitimately awful filmmaking.
Dominion makes it look like freaking Citizen Kane.
It is awful.
It is...
The movie's not even about the dinosaurs.
They bring back Ian Malcolm and Alan Grant.
Is this the Lord Derns?
Yes.
The movie's not about the dinosaurs, bro.
It's about freaking mosquitoes.
What are we doing?
Hey, there is a mosquito in the first one.
Okay.
Congrats to that mosquito.
Hey, big ups and.
The one mosquito that you needed.
We're talking, we're doing it on, oh, man, biocin.
And they got evil Tim Cook up there.
Like, who cares?
Who actually gives a...
It's just mind-boggling and insane.
Again, we'll talk about rebirth later this week.
But that movie's like, you guys like dinosaurs?
Boom, here are the dinosaurs.
Right?
This movie's like, you guys like dinosaurs?
I don't give a flying...
You better like Laura Dermore.
Get ready to learn.
Locust, buddy.
It is wild.
Who's making the decisions up there?
The movie makes no sense.
Does nothing right?
It's a complete and utter disaster.
It's just,
it's legitimately a waste of everybody's time.
And that's why I'm picking it last.
You know,
I think you've had an outstanding draft.
I also think that you have picked the worst movie.
I absolutely got the entire draft.
I absolutely picked the worst movie.
I absolutely for sure picked the worst movie.
So I'm hoping my first three
kind of.
It's crazy that movie that bad
can make that much money
and then still get a billion dollars.
Fellas.
I'll be all of them made a billy.
But this one specifically,
they all made a billion.
They all made a billion dollars.
Yeah.
Wow.
Why do you think reber was like,
yeah,
we're making reberts?
Why wouldn't we do that?
And guess what?
We didn't even need to try.
Like, we clearly didn't.
You know, like, it's,
golly, I literally left the theater
going, yeah, y'all was right.
My fault.
My fault. That's all me, guys.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I should listen.
I should have listened to y'all.
It was, it was tough.
But yeah, I'm shocked.
We're done, right?
Yeah.
We are in conclusion.
I am shocked.
Wonder Woman didn't get off the board.
I think for the MCU movies, I think we pretty much
do what we had to do.
Yeah, yeah. Some people will,
I mean, I think Eternals is like maybe a little bit.
I mean, again, look at the list.
for that one. It's not fine.
Is this crazy?
I thought somebody was in a pick Deadpool and Woodrow, honestly.
I thought that's what.
When you said,
I love dinner, I was like,
I kind of feel like you could have put
Deadpool of Wolverine in there.
I see it.
That's like a good, like,
controversial.
You know,
I don't like, I don't like Deadpool.
I don't think it's,
oh, just Deadpool was a character.
Yeah.
The Ryan Reynolds Deadpool.
Okay.
I just don't like this.
As someone who was also impervious
to the Ryan Reynolds Industrial Complex,
I also,
I just don't like, it feels.
You don't like it.
Yeah.
It doesn't speak to me.
Very fair, honestly.
Maybe I'm too far removed from my teenage boy years, but it doesn't speak to me.
I think it's a very fair assessment.
Yeah, I'm not going to be mad at that.
I'm not going to be mad at that.
Someone who like, I'm not going to say, I've watched it once or twice at the crib.
I can see where you would find that in your heart.
I can see where you would find that in your heart.
You know, tough for our guy, Hugh Jack would have come back in that form of fashion.
Sorry, huge jacked man.
Huge Jack.
For DC movies, I think.
again outside of leaving Wonder Woman off the board.
I will say there is some novelty to the first Aquaman.
That was exactly what I was going to say.
There is some novelty to the first Aquaman isn't like a good movie,
but there's such a chaotic energy to it that I think puts it above a lot of the other DC movies.
And it does feel, it feels so anti-Snyderverse in the way that if you were to make like,
James One needs to make a Power Rangers movie or something.
He's got to do something.
that's like so off the wall
and colorful and
brash that
it feels like you're kind of making something
this was when the Snyder versus like losing
its way but also kind of
having fun in those departures a little bit
you got Willem Defoe
underwater like yelling
about the crown or whatever
the shit Patrick Wilson my goat
like I'm happy with that
I think I would have taken it above
Spider of Spider versus
Snyder the Snyder cut
I'm I'm
more mad at myself than I allowed myself
to pick a Satterka. That was, I messed up
there. You know, I picked Shazam.
You could have picked the Flash.
No, no, no. We're not
doing that. Blue Beetle.
We're not doing the Flash. Blue Beetle.
Man, Shazam over Wonder Woman
is crazy.
All right.
It's crazy.
Let's lay to know.
Think about how bad
Wonder Woman 18 or 1984 was to poison
the well for Wonder Woman.
It's true.
But Fury that God's
We was kind of like,
well, it's not like the second
Shazam movie was good.
No, no.
It's,
it's like a movie for Shazam is awful.
Yeah.
It's awful.
So that,
perhaps that movie poisoned the well
for your Shazam memory.
Oh,
how about that?
How about that?
No, I mean,
Zachary Levi's,
the way you feel about him is like 10 times.
Or do what you feel about Ryan Reynolds
is how I feel about Zach of Levi.
Enough is enough,
brother.
Go, go, go,
turn off the computer.
Man,
you know what I'm saying?
saying nobody want to see you, my man.
Hang out.
That second one also had one of the worst DCU moments with the like the Skittles commercial.
I forgot about the Skittles memory hold.
I think that was the lowest point of the DCU.
Skittles product placement there was so egregious.
With the whole unicorn stuff too.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
That was just got off.
I didn't see Black Adam.
So I don't know how bad that was.
The check cleared from Skittles.
You got to know that.
Oh, yeah.
Black Adam, that was, you know.
the DCAU getting some new
new power
Pierce Brazzan was fun in that
dude Chris Brazzan and Dr. Freight was
was pretty cool
that was pretty cool
they were he was like
I was like man you can kind of go
to show Dr. Strange you really
you got the juice
and he was wasted
and never remember they brought
Henry Cabo back like hey man
guys I'm happy to announce
I'm back to Superman I can't wait to
make more Superman movies
and James said
no you're not
James guess I put the gun down big dog
yeah
he was that Michael Jackson
Yeah, exactly.
Hey, brother, I need you, I need you, I need you, I need your cape and your trunks on my desk
tomorrow morning.
You're off the case, you're off the force.
You're done.
Oh, man, that's done.
But hey, that's why we're having this conversation, right?
We're looking back at all these, you know, bad, middling to bad movies as these
franchises move forward.
Yeah.
Right?
We're getting Jurassic World this week, the literal, the rebirth of the franchise.
We're getting Superman, the following.
Guys,
Superman's final year.
We're really just like,
we're really lowering expectations
so that people can enjoy these movies.
Think about it.
Yeah.
And what else can we do?
Remember what we had.
Yes.
And look forward to what we're going to get.
Like this next month is going to be fun.
It's going to be really,
really fun.
I'm looking forward to it.
Can't wait.
What are the teams again?
Let's,
let's read those off.
Uh,
yes.
So we have Jomey with the MCU pick of No Way Home,
Thunderbolts,
Suicide Squad,
and Jurassic World Dominion.
Matt James has
Guardians 3, Thor Love and Thunder, Shazam,
and Jurassic World.
Jurassic World. I have Jurassic World
Rebirth, Multiverse of Madness, Birds of Prey,
and...
The Snyder Cut.
I'm more and more disappointed in myself,
the more and more I read it.
In D.C., you have Shang Chi,
Wakanda Forever, Man of Steel,
and Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom.
I think DC's got a pretty sneaky,
sticking good team.
I sold on the Sinai.
Because you absolutely did.
I would have had a solid team if the Snyder coat wasn't there.
But I think, I think, I think DC cooked.
I think DC cooked.
You might have.
I think DC cooked.
That was good work.
I think MCU just has the,
even though the multiverse of madness is very,
very flawed,
I think it just has the best movies by far out of this.
It really,
really does.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Because after like maybe like two DC movies,
it's just like really,
it gets rough.
I'm not wondering,
Not Wonder Woman, fellas.
That's crazy.
I will say that.
The opening of Wonder Woman is probably like some of the best that the DCU did.
That is great.
I do remember that opening is fantastic.
You know what it really is?
Aries, no.
Right.
The third act is so bad, though.
And enough champagne to fill the Nile.
So here's a problem, right?
Because the whole movie, you're like, oh, the deal with the mustache.
He's the bad guy.
Yeah, he's the bad guy.
Like, he shows him if you're like, oh, that's the bad guy.
And they're like, no, how could he be the bad guy?
That's, why would you even say that?
Why would you think that?
And then he's the bad guy.
You're like, shock.
Oh, oh, no.
Kel Suprize.
Oh, my God.
I didn't know that.
Yeah, but I just, I remember, I mean, I remember when it came out.
I thought it was a little bit overhyped, but it was still like, for a DZ movie to, like, actually have something there.
I thought it meant something.
Clearly, it didn't mean anything to you guys.
You guys didn't take it.
I think you might be right about that poison in the while.
I don't know.
Yeah, you didn't pick it either.
You keep on saying it, but you didn't even pick this movie either, bro.
I see what you're doing here, Joe Me.
I see what you're doing here.
It was between Suicide Squad or Wonder Woman.
I already picked Thunderball.
I was like, all right, well, let's go to Suicide Squad.
It's easy fix.
Jomi really needs to learn the phrase.
I think me thinks the lady doth protest too much.
I'm just saying.
This is where.
Jomey just taking 2016 David Iyer, suicide squad.
Wow.
Wow.
Guys, you know what it's time to go?
Danela Russell just signed a two-year 13 million.
deal with the Dallas Mavericks.
It's time to move.
Right on cue.
Right on cue.
Well, thank you again so much for everybody.
Daniel Shin, where can we find you on the internet?
I guess X.
Oh,
Ouch.
I was hoping that you would promote the ringer.com.
What a great website.
I thought you meant like social.
I thought you meant like social.
I was like, I don't even tweet.
I don't even tweet.
Take a break.
I don't even tweet.
You can read me on the ringer.com.
That's the best place to find me.
And Matt James, anything to promote or declare?
You can find me on Blue Sky
You can occasionally hear me on the
Button Mesh podcast
And anytime you visit the website
You're looking at some of the artwork
I've done beautiful artwork
You on the bluesky?
I'm on the bluesky
How's the bluesky?
It's great, man
I'm on threads, baby
It's so low risk
It's so great
Nobody reads it
Guys, this is the safe space
It's all of them suck
Yeah, they're all bad
Every single one I
Like the only reason
I'm sticking with Twitter
Is because the degenerates
are still there.
There's no degenerates on threads.
And there's not a, no, no.
But it's not fun though.
I open the Blue Sky app every so often.
And y'all like, man, power to the people.
You know, let's be, you know, I'm like, yo.
And you open threads and it's like the ending of Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
I'm not going to lie to you.
I'm not that woke.
I do need people being nasty on my timeline.
I'm sorry.
I need to laugh.
I don't need that drama.
Y'all not funny over there.
Y'all not funny over there.
Y'all being serious.
It's very like earnest. Blue Sky's like very earnest.
It's so earnest.
It's so.
It's so serious, but y'all not funny.
Y'all don't want that.
Don't talk to me.
That's not what you want.
Y'all want the revolution over there.
I don't eat the revolution, man.
You can sort by topics on there.
There's no revolution while I'm talking to people about video games on Blue Sky.
You can pick a different lane.
PlayStation was on there during the stay-to-play, tweet about all the new releases,
and they think had 64 likes.
Damn.
Nobody on there.
Official PlayStation account.
Official PlayStation was like, yo, we got the new games.
Coming to threads.
Even have steady fine lights, bro.
Yo, it's not on there, man.
I'm sorry.
It's not owned by any terrible billion.
That's a big thing.
That's a big thing.
I'm the problem.
I'm admitting I'm the problem.
I know.
You didn't pick Wonder Woman?
Back on that.
From a group of nobody that is the problem on this podcast.
Jesus Christ.
Thank you so much for listening, Junior Mints.
We love you guys so much.
Don't forget on the Ring Reverse feed,

Thank you guys so much.
Jomi, do you have any parting words
for our lovely producer, Carlos,
Cheraboga?
I want to say shout out to our guy,
Carlos, not only for sending the draft order,
and putting me in the situation
to draft Dominion last.
I do just also want to, you know,
shout him out for being incredible
and handling his big business.
Appreciate you.
Appreciate you.
every single person here.
Thank you guys for coming on.
We had a lot of fun.
This was great.
DC's probably going to win
because he's handsome
and people love him.
That's true.
But, you know,
we'll see what happens.
Junior Mint,
thanks,
as always.
And we will see you guys.
Next time.
I almost did a pew-pue,
but that's not the right show.
Oh, wow.
Yeah, you could feel you winding up for a pew.
I was ready for the Poo and I was like,
it's not the show that we do this song.
Can't do it.
Muscle memory.
Muscle memory.
And there's no song.
So actually,
song.
Yeah.
That's what it does in the theater.
It just gets really freaking well.
All right, I'm cutting this song.
Feels like every product claims real protein these days.
But real doesn't start on a label.
It starts at the source.
Like real California milk from California farm families,
it's real dairy delivering high quality, complete protein
with all nine essential amino acids to help build muscle,
give you energy, and keep you satisfied longer.
So keep it real.
Look for the seal.
Real California milk.
