Starting point is 00:02:13 At House of OurPod. At House of Our Pod. I just did. I'm not talking to you. I just did. Like, there's a lot of lane switching. Okay? This was a, this was an A-B, remember that joint?
Starting point is 00:02:24 It's an A-B conversation. See your way out of it. All right. I got to tell you, I'm out. Real quick. I'll fuck with you, Steve. We all in the same conversation. Y'all, I saw a nigger get his ass whoops so bad off that joint.
Starting point is 00:02:37 What? I got to the story. I'm sorry. So we had gone. It's funny. We had gone to the Stennis Space Center, which I talked about this on another podcast, which was recently just came back up.
Starting point is 00:02:50 We were going to the Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. There's a space center in Mississippi where they like Bill Rockets and shit. Okay, cool. Okay. He's like a school trip. Oh, so this is like back in the day. It's back in the day, back in the day. So we're going to the Stenis Space Center.
Starting point is 00:03:03 We're in the back of the bus. It's like a little bit of a drive. I can't remember where it is. It might be like a three or four hour drive. So like the bus ride at that, at that point in your life is the best thing. as big a deal as the actual That's the funnest part. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:15 That's the funest part. Who you're going to sit next to? All of that you're talking to. We would, especially, so like, when we would have baseball trips or football trips, sometimes the cheerleas would be there or whatever. But, like, when we would, like, go to, like, Astro World, then they're girls on the bus. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:28 That just changed it completely dynamic. What grade are you in around? Probably in the 10th grade at this point. Okay, okay. And so we're going to the Stinnis Space Center and everybody's trying to figure out, you know, who they're going to spend the day with, looking at fucking things. You could always,
Starting point is 00:03:42 make some kind of fucking inroads with a girl. You get a lot of time with her. Sure, sure. So there was, I'm not going to name these people because, like, they still, I still talk to them. There was a guy who was talking to a girl the whole time, and this other guy kept trying to get in on the conversation, right? He kept trying to like, because he was monopolizing her time.
Starting point is 00:04:02 Right. And he kept trying to get in on the conversation. And he looked at him and he was like, yo, man, this is an A, B conversation. Would you see your way? of that bitch. And we was like, ooh.
Starting point is 00:04:16 And then everything was cool for about two minutes, and he went, you know what? Nick, you can see me when we get off the other shit. I was like, great.
Starting point is 00:04:36 I was like, yo, I know y'all niggas not about to fight on the field trip. You can't do it on the field trip. No. Well, why are they doing a kamikaze maneuver on the field trip? That's like, oh, so now y'all got to sit on the fucking buzz. Ruin everybody's talking.
Starting point is 00:04:51 Also, dog, it's early because this is a long, so man, bro, it might be like 9 o'clock in the morning, 10 o'clock in the morning. It's not that early. I mean, you're at school at that time. But, like, so anyway, I'm looking at I'm like, y'all can't fight on the field trip, brady. Y'all go fuck the whole field trip. For everybody.
Starting point is 00:05:05 Yeah, man, they're going to start making us walking line. They're going to start doing the whole thing. We're not going to be able to wrong. Entire day. But it's like, you can't do that. He was like, nope, no. No, any big conversation, it's like, nigger, see me when we get off this motherfucker bus.
Starting point is 00:05:21 And they got off the bus, and he was waiting for it. Man, he drugged that nigger's ass around this in his face. Oh, bro. I was like, yo, what's happening? It went on for a long time. Where was the teacher? She wasn't around. She had gone to talk.
Starting point is 00:05:38 This is a NASA installation. Oh, so you got to check in. Oh, you got to check in with. Right, right, and be like, hey, we're here. This is, so she had to go and take care of some business. Yeah. And so we were standing there right there with the dude who was driving the bus who didn't give a fuck. Right.
Starting point is 00:05:55 You don't get paid enough. No, no, no, no. Shout out to the bus driver. So she had gone over there. She's doing her thing. This niggil wift his, we had, all right, bro. We have to be like, chill. The girl crying and the whole night.
Starting point is 00:06:05 Ruined the whole shit. So the guy that got dissed won the fight. Who? No. The guy that got the sea line to. No. No, no, no, no. He got his ass whooped.
Starting point is 00:06:14 Okay. Because he was on some pretty shit. Right. But that, to me, that's flagrant. Why are you hating all my man? He's locking in. It was shoddy. Nobody looking at you.
Starting point is 00:06:24 Come on, bro. That's, you can't take the social else like that. I'm going to be real. We was watching. It was one of those joists where we was like, hey, man, we got to do something, bro. We got to step in. That's too much.
Starting point is 00:06:36 We got to be. I'm chill, chill, bro. Chill. Chill. Chill. Chill. Chill. Chill.
Starting point is 00:06:39 Chill. Chill. Teacher comes back. She's like, what? God damn it. Wait, what happened on the rest of the trip when y'all just in trouble? The thing of the vibes was dead.
Starting point is 00:06:50 Killed me. Are you nuts? Killed the whole thing, man. The vibes was dead, bro. The vibes was fucking dead, bro. Brutal. That was it, man. What was the dog?
Starting point is 00:07:01 The drive back on a bus must have been crazy. Silent. It had dissipated by then. We went back to the Center and we had a lot of fun. But, like, that one, they fucked it up. I was one of these guys never saw him again. Tough. Two of the people.
Starting point is 00:07:14 The girls and the guy that were talking, they dated for a long time. They did. The nigga out his ass whooped up. That was funny. Hey, but here's the thing, if you were like, if you were a pretty young nigga,
Starting point is 00:07:23 sometimes I'm just like, hey, you don't got to have hands. Hey, hey, it happens. I mean, sometimes when you a nigga like that, you got to actually be more crazy with your hands. Really? Because. Or you got to charisma your way out of it.
Starting point is 00:07:36 Well, either that or like, because guys like that to do. from around the neighborhood, they'll try to do us like that. In Baton Rouge, those dudes always knew they had to get busy a little bit. Pretty boys had to get busy. Try to ugly you up a little bit. In that situation, you kind of got played with. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:53 And now you got to fight. You got to step up. Hey, make sure to follow House of R on Instagram, TikTok, wherever you get your social feeds at. They got the tuck throws on there. He pulled. He was pulling him. And he was like whimpering. He was like, ah!
Starting point is 00:08:09 No! Oh, God. We should step in sooner. When they were standing up, it was kind of even, and then they went to the ground, and that's when the shit gets crazy. That's when you know. Y'all not shit. I will say, y'all not shit for not break it.
Starting point is 00:08:23 Like, somebody had to be like, hey, don't fuck up the hole. Don't fuck up the hole. No, you got to let them. Now, you're not fucking on my field trip. Let the niggas fight. Nah, but then you say something. Now, you know what I'm saying? Let them, let them guys fight.
Starting point is 00:08:33 Fuck it. Especially then. Because you, like, at McKinley, you get involved in. And McKinley, we didn't have beefs. We had blood feuds. Shit would last for years a lot of times. I'm not getting involved. It's one of my homies I jump in.
Starting point is 00:08:47 But other than that, let him fight. Crabs in a barrel mentality. Come back. We're on YouTube. Like, comment, subscribe, share.
Starting point is 00:08:54 You can watch every midnight boys. If it was, if it was, I will say this, if it was like somebody was picking on someone, we'll, like, I'll get involved in.
Starting point is 00:09:02 If it was not matched up evenly. But other than that, but even with that, we didn't care about no fucking size. I seen little niggas beat the shit out of big-ass niggas. Whatever. I'm sorry, I apologize. This is why you so toxic.
Starting point is 00:09:17 What was the banquote? This thing was born in it. Molded by the darkness. What was me? It was them. You're merely adopted. It was only blinding. You watch every midnight boys in House of our episode on YouTube.com backslash
Starting point is 00:09:32 at ring and also on Spotify. Program on Sunday. On Sunday, the Talk the Thrones continues with the second episode of House of the Dragon. The question that a lot of people are asking is, do they believe the critics? The critics are saying that the House of the Drag and Second Season is in the dirt season? Third season, I mean? Third season. They're saying that it's in the dirt.
Starting point is 00:09:53 They've watched the whole thing, and I don't understand they've watched a lot of it. I do not like the practice of critics being able to have viewed a full season of television and then come back and review a full season of television. Well, they don't review the full season. I think they only got four, right? Whatever it is. Some people got more, some people got four. Whatever it is. That's a huge chunk of the season.
Starting point is 00:10:14 Four will be what, half? Yeah. Four will be half of the season. I think that it's really fucked up for critics to review an entire or even half of a season of television. And then fuck with people's expectations and take them out of the journey. That's not the critics' fault. You got to talk to the studio. What you mean?
Starting point is 00:10:34 That's part of their strategy. It's part of the studio strategy to release the screeners. at the same time, I do believe, though, you're right, I do believe, though, that just that type of wholesale criticism on an entire, a whole movie is one thing, an entire, like, season of television or half a season. Or half of season of TV. I, you're right.
Starting point is 00:10:57 What I think Warner Bros, the reason they do that, as someone who used to be on that side of it, is I think they were gambling on, oh, shit, we're going to give you a lot of the season. we really believe that we have something in the tuck. If this is overwhelmingly positive, maybe we can get some lapsed fewer, we can get a lot of momentum,
Starting point is 00:11:16 and people are excited. And sometimes that shit backfires when you get, I don't think all the criticism has been bad. I've seen good and bad. I just think it's been, like the middle has been a little bit like, eh. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:29 And then I just realized we did that with the bear. But we liked it, so that's different. Right. Whatever. All right. next week midnight boys cover a house of the dragon and the season premiere of x-men 97 hey don't look at me redemption time chuck you back man chuck hey no i heard i've heard some whispers i've heard some whispers you know i've heard some conversations and as always
Starting point is 00:11:55 i'm a canary in a coal mine well you're not the canary in the coal mine because the last season was fucking amazing and you're hating and this season is different i tell you something about it there's no bold de mayo. Why do you guys keep like looking at me? Why do you do this? That's something I would do to you. But if you ask me why it's different, bold de Mayo's not on it anymore.
Starting point is 00:12:16 There's no, they have a creative bar to meet without the person who show was this vision. This was this show vision. This show was his vision. Now you know, we don't want to talk about this movie, bro.
Starting point is 00:12:32 We don't talk about Michael Jordan Spotter. We don't talk about ABC. We've been parted for like 40 minutes. We haven't talked about Supergirl once. We can get to. All I'm saying is, don't look at me like I won't talk about it. This show has a creative bar to clear without its leader, and we'll see if it can do it. I'm very excited.
Starting point is 00:12:50 On today's show, The Midnight Boys, since Charles wants to you to do it. It's the most of what we're going. The Midnight Boys give their reaction, Supergirl. And I tell you what, we were so excited to see this movie. Everybody was, aside to see this movie, Millie Alcocka, Supergirl. Spoiler warning, Steve. We're getting ready to talk about Supergirl. You're listening to a reaction podcast.
Starting point is 00:13:19 The spoilers are coming. All right, now to begin our reactions, we have to get into the Midnight Motherfucking Manifest. Only person that can do that is Charles goddamn Holmes. Charles, take it away. All right, this is your Midnight Manifest for Supergirl directed by Craig Lesby, written by Anna Nagara. To get drunk and drown her sorrows on a 23rd birthday,
Starting point is 00:13:37 Karras, or Elle celebrates on a planet that circles a red sun. The Red Sun saps her of her power. During her drunken pub crawl, she runs into Ruthie, a young preteen, looking for vengeance against Krem, a brigand and human trafficker, who slaughter her Swartzmith father and family for their weapons. When Krem steals Kara's ship and poisons crypto, Supergirl has 72 hours to save her space dog. Kare and Ruthie team up and traverse the galaxy looking for Krem and his brigands. Along the way, they run into Lobo, who is also hunting a member of Krem's ship.
Starting point is 00:14:05 There's a Seth Rogen alien, many David Kornswet cameos, and your usual flashbacks to the death of Krypton. Eventually, Kara realizes that binge drinking your life away is in a great idea and dons her Supergirl attire. She saves Ruthie, kills Krem, and returns the Metropolis with Crypto to spend more time with Superman, her cousin. That has been your midnight manifest for Supergirl.
Starting point is 00:14:24 All right. Do we just want to, we've been potter for fucking an hour at this point. Do we just want to get into it? Yeah, that's what we're going to do. Okay, so here's a deal. Supergirl isn't very good. and that's okay but I think what's not okay
Starting point is 00:14:42 is I think what this means and what this signals I think this is I think this more than any other film and I don't want Fennessee to beat me to this take but I think this more than any other film is you say Canary in the Coal Mine
Starting point is 00:15:00 this is a Canary in the Coal Mine. Yeah. This is a big deal that this movie wasn't executed well. All right, you have to think about how things happened when this culture, this filmmaking culture was at its peak. At its peak, what this filmmaking culture was, was, be it the MCU or whatever,
Starting point is 00:15:20 was the ability to take smaller characters that no one knew and extract the narrative value out of them. And that is what signaled, like, how great things were, you know. Obviously, anyone can make a Spider-Man movie, but Spider-Man movies weren't the thing that turned everything. Can you make an Antman movie? Can you make an Antman movie? Can you make that strange movie?
Starting point is 00:15:39 We've talked about this. Supergirl is not quite a A plus plus plus property. I wouldn't put her on that level. But I would say that in a healthy, creative situation, it is a character that if everything is working well,
Starting point is 00:15:59 you should be able to get a great movie out of, particularly with source material this strong. Yes. and they fucking failed. And the fact that they did with James Gunn at the helm of the DCU with a very
Starting point is 00:16:14 capable director and Gillespie, a great lead, Superman, all of that. The fact that they failed is the movie itself is not this huge abomination that everyone is talking about.
Starting point is 00:16:30 I don't think it is the creative disaster that people... It's not a good movie. But the project of the film being lukewarm to bad should scare the shit eye of you if you love these movies. So watching this movie as someone who read the Tom King comic,
Starting point is 00:16:46 on paper, to your point, Van, this is a home run. The problem with Supergirl throughout her entire history is that she is not a real character. If you type in how many different Supergirls there are, I think there's been like five or six different versions.
Starting point is 00:17:04 And I think it speaks to the inherent misogyny of just comic book history. which is like when I was growing up, she was heroin-cheek, Paris Hilton Supergirl. And in the 90s, she was fucking reborn as a fucking goddamn angel. And during crisis,
Starting point is 00:17:18 during Infinite Earth, they had to sacrifice her off because no one knew what they wanted to do. And what Tom King was able to do in that, in that comic that he wrote, Woman of Tomorrow. A Woman of Tomorrow is essentially, he was like,
Starting point is 00:17:32 how do we streamline this character who has never really had a purpose in the comic book? that isn't just being Superman's cousin, yeah. And what he ventures on is, well, historically, Supergirl leaves Krypton later than Kellell. She was a preteen or a teenager when he was a baby.
Starting point is 00:17:55 So you take this idea and you're like, okay, what does it mean when this young teenager or this young woman experiences the death of her entire culture? And what you have is this story of like, oh, she wants to go to this planet with this red sun, get drunk, she has crypto, all of this stuff. I'm not saying this movie is a failure because it did not adapt the comic book one to one because the comic book is fine.
Starting point is 00:18:19 It is more so it's just like, this movie doesn't know what it wants to be. It doesn't know if it wants to be Mad Max Fury Road. It doesn't know if it wants to be Guardians of the Galaxy. It just, it doesn't know if it wants to be Wonder Woman, so it ends up just being nothing. Doesn't know if it wants to be Star Wars. So, I mean, look, for what we're doing in this culture, this culture, fandom, we're doing a lot of costume
Starting point is 00:18:46 merchandising. Custom merchants. Cosplaying. No, what I mean is, I haven't thought of a better way to say this. I haven't baked this. The costume, the mantle is very meaningful. When you put on the suit, that means you're the hero. Right.
Starting point is 00:19:01 I should say that. So we've talked about this before. it was done masterfully in Daredevil season one when the last episode is actually called Daredevil. Sure. Becomes Daredevil, he puts the suit on, now he's Daredevil. Okay.
Starting point is 00:19:14 They're supposed to be a moment in this movie where she dons, Cara Dawns the Supergirl outfit. Yeah. That Supergirl. Now, what has to happen for that to really land? Number one, there has to be some loss. There has to be a lesson learned.
Starting point is 00:19:34 and it has to be the end of a fulfilled character art that makes you think this person is now ready for heroism. The movie didn't even try any yet. Not really. I mean, not to me. It wasn't successful. It feels blunted. I think the movie is,
Starting point is 00:19:50 we saw Super Mario Brothers Galaxy earlier, and we didn't know how prescient that film would be. We've seen that movie redone in live action in different ways. It's the jingling keys epidemic. We've seen Super Mario Galaxy, Star Wars is Mandalorian Grogoo. We've seen Super Mario Galaxy now with Supergirl where shit just happens.
Starting point is 00:20:14 And then at the end, we're supposed to give a fuck. That's not what happened. Like, I'd just be honest with you, I'm not saying that you guys go see Supergirl and you might have a good time. You guys, God damn it, you're blaming us. You guys are blaming us for what we have to do and talk about these.
Starting point is 00:20:29 You guys are saying the Midnight Boys are too negative and they're not having fun anymore. Man, can I tell stories. Yo, can you imagine the midnight mob here and I started like, get the Supergirl! Not one of the stories again. God damn it. That's funny, bro.
Starting point is 00:20:49 He was waiting right. I was out of the bus. The thing opened, and he was like, get off the bus. He was like, come on, daw. For real? He's like, come on. Come on. You feel in the nigga?
Starting point is 00:20:59 You feel it? And I was like, come on. Oh, fuck, dog. No, man. I would have been laughing. I was like, I would have been hot, bro. No, you're like, nah, man. I'm not trying to hear.
Starting point is 00:21:11 Hey, Van, you ain't going to be the peacemaker this time. You ain't going to be the peacemaker this time, Van. I'm like, all right. Before we get back to Supergirl, how long was the rest of the drive from where he was like, yo, I'll see you out. About 45 minutes to us. So he had to be mad for 45 minutes straight. It was like, we was almost there.
Starting point is 00:21:31 Dang. Be a mad for four. 45 minutes straight. That's exhausting. That's crazy. Anyway, men, boys, what you got? Man, to your point, Van, this is a movie that if it came out, like, 10, 15 years ago,
Starting point is 00:21:47 we'd be like, wow, what a time, what an adventure, what a spectacular film. But in this current, especially superhero movie-making economy, it just falls flat. We talked about after the movie, This feels like if somebody like remade
Starting point is 00:22:06 try to remake Guardians one from scratch Yeah Like just like You saw it once now remake it Yeah now remake it Like the costumes The sets the whole thing
Starting point is 00:22:15 And this is stuff people talked about in the trailers And you're like You know It's not a it's not a Like James gunn't produce it But he didn't write it He didn't direct it
Starting point is 00:22:23 But it just feels So much of all the gunisms That we've come to either Love or you know Not love about his movies and to your point, I just, I'm empty at the end. When they're playing the, the middle acapella, during the, during the final fight.
Starting point is 00:22:41 This white boy was offended at such. You can't, listen. Fended at what? So the needle drops in this movie again, very James Gunnish. Yeah. In terms of like, the one needle drop at the end is one of the worst ones ever for her. Of the middle? The middle?
Starting point is 00:22:55 I'm talking about the climactic battle. Yeah, yeah, yeah. The climactic battle. What's the name of that record? It's the middle, but it's an acapella version of the middle. that is legitimately, I've never heard a worse needle drop. It was awful. The song is great.
Starting point is 00:23:07 The original song, awesome, Jimmy Eat World. I was sitting in there being like, are they playing the wrong song? You guys could tell you. I started laughing. I was like, this is ridiculous. I mean, me and Joe did too. Like, that's horrific. And by the way, just that needle drop, and you guys will go see it and you can make up in your own minds.
Starting point is 00:23:26 But that needle drop is emblematic of the problem with the movie. That is so saccharine dripping with earnestness in a spot where it just didn't need to be. Let Supergirl kick some motherfucking ass. Stop winking, stop being cute for a second and get the fuck to it. The movie just won't let go.
Starting point is 00:23:50 And I don't know why it won't. The movie won't let go. But that needle drop, I can't think of a worse one. Try to think of a worse needle drop in the movie. Give me an exam. Captain Marvel. I'm just a girl. I don't think that's as well.
Starting point is 00:24:04 I don't think that's bad either. Because at least they use the original song. By the way, I don't like that that fuck-ass a cappella cover shit. They do it all the time. It happens all the time. I don't like any more
Starting point is 00:24:18 because they did it in the social network trailer whatever they take a populous song. And they start putting strings on the shit. I'm like, all right. Only way you want to know what was the worst one fucking black Adam. And they did the da-da-da-da-da-da-da. Oh, like in the song.
Starting point is 00:24:35 Like, what was? That was it. That was whacked. That's actually incredible. That was crazy. That was whack. I have a grenade to throw into the middle of this. A lot of this movie, well, not a lot of it, but at least a significant part of this
Starting point is 00:24:53 movie's intrigue of curiosity had to do with Jason Momoa as Lobo. Oh, man. You guys do not know who Lobo is. Lobo was a one. wildly popular character, particularly from the 90s and the 2000s. He was supposed to be an answer to Wolverine. He was, I would say,
Starting point is 00:25:09 even watching this movie, if we're talking about 90s characters that I remember from my childhood, another reason this movie don't work is even as a kid, I was like, Lobo sucks. Because there was Deadpool,
Starting point is 00:25:21 there was cable, there was Wolverine, Punisher. There was this, like, edge lord off in the 90s, whereas, like, who had the edgiest most, like, extreme character that you can make? And Lobo was in that conversation.
Starting point is 00:25:31 And watching this, I was like, wait, who is this movie for because I'm 33. I know who Lobo is and I'm not going to get excited about this. If this is the group that like went to go see Wonder Woman or Captain Marvel, like, oh, we're finally getting a woman hero. Are they going to be like, damn, Lobo is crazy? I was just like, yo, you're making this movie for like 40 and 50 year olds.
Starting point is 00:25:52 This is the deal. I think that having Lobo a character like Lobo in a movie like that is all about the execution because, no one would care about Lobo being in the movie if Lobo was awesome. If Lobo was an awesome character, then it's actually a low-leveraged thing to put them in the movie
Starting point is 00:26:14 because the people who don't know who Lobo is, this goes, hey, that Lobo guy is fucking awesome. And the people who do know who Lobo is goes, fuck, we finally get a live-action Lobo. But if you put Lobo in the movie and Lobo not awesome, people are going to be like, why the fuck is Lobo in the movie?
Starting point is 00:26:33 Those people are going to be like that, the casuals, and then the diehards that want to see him are going to be like, I wait out of his time, and they fucked up Lobo. So if you put Lobo in the movie, you got to get it right. No, Steve. Oh, no, I mean, that to me is, like, the actual, like, biggest problem in this movie,
Starting point is 00:26:48 and Lobo symbolizes all of that. It is the key jingling because he actively is taking away from anything meaningful that could possibly happen. He's eating up screen time just to be, like, this cool, badass guy who's chomping on a cigar and calling Supergirl tits, which is like fucking what the fuck are you doing movie?
Starting point is 00:27:07 I don't understand the execution of the use of Lobo here at all because he serves no purpose. High volume for a guy who, not Jason Momoa. I don't, we might, we might get into there, but I don't want to, I don't want to be the first one to say it. It's what I think, but it's a lot, like Lobo got a lot of at-bats. and didn't really make... This is no shots at Jason Momoa.
Starting point is 00:27:33 He is playing the same character over and over again. And watching him play Lobo, I was like, man, I gotta see some more range. Like, ah, it's getting to a point where I'm like... No, you know what, no. I wouldn't even need that of him because if any of the characters that he were to ever play were compelling, fun, or funny, I wouldn't care, but that's not the case.
Starting point is 00:27:50 But on paper, but on paper, Jason Mova... It's supposed to be the perfect lobo. No, the internet said that, and that's why he's in this movie, and it doesn't work. obviously he said that as well Yeah and because he was running along with the internet trend Jason Mamoa wanted Lobo He said that he's always wanted to play Lobo
Starting point is 00:28:07 He says he's loved Lobos since for a long time I'm not sure if that's fucking true But he says that he's like the lobo People want to see Lobo Jason Mamo was a natural lobo He's played characters that have been like Like he played Cal Drogo
Starting point is 00:28:18 You know what I mean Dune like we've seen The bad guy that didn't have a same thing Fasted Yeah we've seen We've seen Jason Mamoa being shit Where Jason Monroe is cool He didn't get here on accident
Starting point is 00:28:28 I think what's happening now is it fucking sucks. And like, and that's just, like, and that's what the fuck happens. Do we, do we have to, to Steve's point, though, I do think a lot of these directors got to stop letting the internet lead them astray. We have gotten so many of these characters recently where it's like, John Krasinski is Mr. Fantastic, Jason, Momoa's Lobo, and that shit never works. Well, at least Mr. Fantastic, he was only in the movie for like 10 minutes, right? But it didn't like,
Starting point is 00:28:58 shake the earth. Super Mario Galaxy shit. Where it's like I'm supposed to see Jason Mamoa's logo because a bunch of motherfuckers made some fan edits and they're supposed to do something for me. I'm 33, if it worked, I mean,
Starting point is 00:29:12 you're 33, you want to see a Supergirl movie. But like, it, what is Chris saying? Where's Walters? Baby shit. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:19 Baby shit. Where's what is Chris? We have a guy here, a really talented guy here named Chris. Love Chris. And like every time we're talking about this, Chris, this looks like it's Chris.
Starting point is 00:29:27 You mean, oh, Chris goes, baby shit. It's not baby shit. Fuck you, Chris. Is that the new pod name? Baby shit. The baby shit, the pod. But I'll be honest with you guys. This is existential for us.
Starting point is 00:29:43 I don't know about existential. No, man. This is not an all-time brick, because that's what everybody online is. Yeah, no, I don't think. I don't think it's that far. But it is a- You guys didn't let me finish. I'm not talking about this movie.
Starting point is 00:29:55 Yeah. You guys didn't let me finish, okay? what you guys were so reflective reflexive because your self-preservation jumped out. Gotcha. Right? It's all right. What it This type of content
Starting point is 00:30:08 can't sustain a culture for a long time. If the people that are making these movies and you know, canary in the coal mine, the nigga is yellow. Like if the people that are making these movies don't hear anything else I ever say
Starting point is 00:30:25 if you don't do better than we like everybody's in the dirt I listen to everyone around I talk to everyone we are like a culture of collaborators and communicators and contemporaries
Starting point is 00:30:40 I know these guys I listen to these people there's not a lot of meat on the bone and the reality is sure Spider-Man will probably be awesome if you count the Odyssey as being our purview that'll probably be awesome
Starting point is 00:30:54 Doom's dead Doomsday. Who knows? Who knows? Maybe. But those are not the movies. I keep trying to say that sustain this. The movies that sustain this are good outings from characters and creatives like this one was supposed to be.
Starting point is 00:31:13 And this is existential for us because y'all, you guys talk about all of this stuff. You know, you guys talk about how you want us to cover the third season of the anime show that came on Crunchyroll. we might be doing that. Like, we might love the new season and Deep Slate. Look, you guys were talking about
Starting point is 00:31:31 our musical. We might go out. We might do a Mugent train revisit the entertainment district. That's my shit. I do, I do it just to see
Starting point is 00:31:41 how Van messes up the names. I can't wait. I don't know how to pronounce that shit. I mean, they're going to make more movies, right? It's a trilogy, right? So all I go to one Dodgers game and he's like, we do a Mugent train. He's going to go away.
Starting point is 00:31:52 He's going to chase all names amongst the people. And it's anime time now. You keep saying that. But the reality is I was the only person here that was riding for demon slayer. The rest of you guys were fucking hating on Demon Slayer. Nobody was hate, calm down. No, nigger. Wait, what were you playing on fucking Friday?
Starting point is 00:32:09 You were like, Charles looks of Japanese shit. Oh, we were playing, what's the name that shit? Ghost of Sushita. Oh, Ghost of Sushita. Oh, Gosa Sushima, yeah. I was that nigger. I love that niggins. But no, because you kept going.
Starting point is 00:32:21 Wow, we sneaking around. We're samurai. We're some samurai. I'm gonna say, watching Van Play video games is the funniest thing ever because he's like, I'll kill everybody in this level. And he's like, why am I sneaking? I don't like that. Yeah, like, why we, it's a samurai game, right? He's like, I'm the main character.
Starting point is 00:32:34 Why are we sneaking around? You gotta keep playing it. If I tell you, I'm going to explain that? Yes. Yes. Yes. If we get back to the movie, let's, maybe let's start with, which is kind of the story. Because the story to me is fascinating in that James Gunn, to me, stepped up.
Starting point is 00:32:54 on this movie's toes so much because we already saw crypto in peril to basically be around crypto being in peril again. I'm like, dog, I know you're not going to kill the dog. I mean, that is the most
Starting point is 00:33:08 the most famous Supergirl story. So I understand why they lead with that. But to your point, if you're going to put crypto in danger in the second in the second time we see him, why I put him in danger the first time we said?
Starting point is 00:33:22 That was this whole point. What are you saying? It was not the fact that they shouldn't have done it in the Supergirl. It's the fact that James Gunn shouldn't have jacked that for Superman. But that's James Gunn's like whole thing is we're going to put an animal in danger. That shit was running out for me with the second third Guardians movie. You know what I'm saying? Same thing with Suicide Squad.
Starting point is 00:33:41 So for you to, what? That movie was good as fuck though. Which one? The Guardians 3? Guardians 3 was good. But like that Guardians 3 is fine. He cashed in all of his animal abuse. Guardians 3 is fine.
Starting point is 00:33:52 Guardians 3 is fine Guardians 3 was fucking great Are you nuts? Have you guys lost the spark? No, Gardenry is good Guardian 3 is really really good. I think where Charles is coming from
Starting point is 00:34:04 is that we were so starved for any kind of good Superhero concert because I was in the we was in the mud We need some type of companies We needed to grab on a something And the fact that that movie Like just did what it had to do
Starting point is 00:34:19 And it was a really good movie it really paid off all the characters well it was a great as far as trilogy films go it is amongst some of the guys I'm not saying I disagree with you all I'm saying is I can see where he's coming from is that we were so starved for any competence that the first thing we saw it was like this is great
Starting point is 00:34:38 it's fantastic 10 out of 10. But to your point though the crypto thing was supposed to be so compelling that it gets her out of her funk and out of her stupor. I mean look this is you guys are talking about this is source material This is sourced. So, like, if you're going to make it, you're going to make it.
Starting point is 00:34:54 He just didn't work. It wasn't executed right. I was worried because at the beginning, like, I think the, the movie tries, I think the whole, like, the big problem is that none of the stuff that the movie tries to execute, like, it either, either legitimately doesn't work or it just doesn't, like, like, it doesn't feel, well, well executed in the sense of, I'm watching a movie. I'm like, why does, why does, he loves crypto, but why? And then you get the flashbacks.
Starting point is 00:35:21 her finding crypto during the funeral and like her being on earth being sad and crypto being there for her. And so I'm like, okay, I could kind of see why she would come to love this dog in such a way. But it just didn't, it just didn't work. All that stuff from her with her leaving and her parents, all that stuff I thought worked really well. I think so too. I think that stuff worked really well. Unfortunately, the Superman stuff worked really well. Dude, David Cornsway, I'm watching this.
Starting point is 00:35:52 I told you this earlier, man. I was like, hey, he might be Superman. Like, it's so bad to say this. I'm sorry, guys. Whatever he's on screen, I kept being like, damn, why can't Superman be? We're some misogynist. Alea.
Starting point is 00:36:04 It's a real shame. Alea. Can you hear me? Aleo, how problematic is it for the midnight boys to have a conversation? Yes. Didn't even need to finish. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:20 And you know what, fuck it. I'll be real. It's a lot to ask of the audience where we got another lone wolf and cub. I already saw a Mandalorian and Grogu. This young woman 23, she's taking care of a 13-year-old. So it's a kid taking care of a kid. And that a 23-year-old has to play drunk the entire time. That is like, it's most grown actors can't play drunk.
Starting point is 00:36:43 That shit was annoying to me. And all it is to say, you know, the movie is not without its fun. Yes, of course. There are fun things. There are... What's wrong? Oh. There are fun things.
Starting point is 00:36:57 There are things that the movie does that's really fun. I thought the villain is pretty good. Hell no. I liked him. Hell no. I thought he was a... He was being and racist. He killed several families.
Starting point is 00:37:09 Black families. Yeah. A legitimate pedophile? I mean, look, the niggas a villain. Sex trafficker. But this is why I don't think crime works is because... Crem in the comic, what I think was interesting about him is like, what is interesting not any villain is that Crem essentially hops from planet to planet,
Starting point is 00:37:32 and instead of just being like a human trafficker, he genocides people. Genocides entire planets. So it is the physical embodiment of something that Supergirl is facing internally, which is I watch my entire planet die. I now have the power to punish the physical embodiment of, that, the minute you just make him a human trafficker in this movie, you get rid of a lot of those thematic narrative layers. So you just get a character that really doesn't have any
Starting point is 00:38:04 motivation, doesn't say anything iconic, doesn't really have any beliefs, is just evil for the sake of being evil. And I'm like, no, your evil is supposed to be telling me something about that supergirl. So do you remember, who remembers Tarantino and Kill Bill? Who remembers, who remembers Bill's monologue on Superman, who remembers him? Oh, yeah, his disguise is, I'm paraphrasing, but his disguise is actually Clark Kent because Clark Kent is his critique on the whole human race.
Starting point is 00:38:32 Right. Clark Kent is the way Superman sees people. Superman's wearing his clothes, he stands up straight, he speaks with a deeper voice, he's assertive, he's generous, he's kind, but he's confident. And that is not really what Clark Kent is. Clark Kent is bumbling, he's stumbling, he's unsure of himself, he slouches.
Starting point is 00:38:53 He, that's how Superman sees people. Y'all say what the fuck y'all want to say about Quinn Tarantino. Brilliant. Brilliant. What you're describing is the way that movie sees the audience. So what you're describing is a character inside of a graphic novel or inside of a comic book run that was multifaceted. It had its own motivations that expected to connect thematically to the heroine and, like, really be deep and really be meaningful.
Starting point is 00:39:29 Because when you're reading it on the page, you can't cheat. Yeah. Right? You can't cheat. You got to physically turn the page. You have to go get more. The page, it has to grab you. This movie's commentary on the audience is it says that villain can't be that.
Starting point is 00:39:46 It's too nuanced. We have to take this villain. and make him into what we all know right now contemporarily is the worst thing in the world, which is a pedophile, sex trafficker, person who kills families. Like, we have to give it to them like that because otherwise they won't fall into our narrative.
Starting point is 00:40:06 We don't want to make them think too much. The movie doesn't trust us. But here's a thing, if you are a little bit more faithful. If you're more faithful, I think what it does is it says, yo, you just saw a Superman movie where he's, trying to save the world, but he's really trying to save Metropolis. And then you get a Supergirl movie where it's like, we have this woman in the center of
Starting point is 00:40:27 the frame that's trying to save planets. She's just as important, or her journey is just as important, if not more important than the Superman journey. That to me is the actual progressive step that you need to take with Supergirl, which is to be like a joke that's like, why are you named Supergirl when he's named Superman? I'm like, yo, I've heard that joke fucking 10,000 times. show me a reason why you are putting a woman in this suit and make me feel like, oh, she can literally, like, she's just as important to y'all as Superman. I'm going to jump in a row quick.
Starting point is 00:41:00 I'm taking too much space up for the men boys. You know what the real progressive step is to me? I feel what you're saying. I'm a yes and you. The real progressive step to me is, and Alea knows that I'm one of the foremost feminists. Oh, boy. You already done. He's about to say something crazy.
Starting point is 00:41:17 But you know what the real progressive step is to me? Not giving the fuck about none of that. Supergirl don't need a reason why she exists. She's a woman with powers. Tell her story. We don't like the whole like it is like Superman is in this movie. I get it. That's like we, you know, we'll let's be Superman.
Starting point is 00:41:39 Okay. It's a Superman spin off character. All right. There's not a lot of times you're not going to get a lot of Robin stories that like are completely independent from Batman. People are going to be like, we're Batman at. and Supergirl is a character that is an offshoot from the Superman legend
Starting point is 00:41:53 okay so that makes a lot of sense but the real progressive thing is to me personally is fuck everything else she is a woman she sees the universe in a different way but this is her story yeah like she doesn't like
Starting point is 00:42:09 that character has been around for decades there doesn't need to be any type of laundering about like why we were going to see Supergirl just give us a good fucking story We're doing all of this fucking talking, man. We're doing all this fucking talking, and they're giving us lukewarm needle drops.
Starting point is 00:42:23 Just give us the fucking story, bro. But there was interesting elements to this where I was like, oh, to be one of the best parts of the movie is realizing, damn, Clark, of course you like Earth. You grew up here as a baby. He's a human. Sorry. Go, no, go see.
Starting point is 00:42:43 Get your shit off. This is genuinely like the best part of the movie, and it's the best part of the movie. straighting the character and it sucks that it has to happen. You're the middle one. You like, go white boy, go. Look, look, look. Close a boy, see, he likes that.
Starting point is 00:42:58 Mindful white boy, speak a little crotonio. Go white boy, go. Go white boy, go. Go white boy, go. I need to get the dance. No, no, see what he likes that. We're going to party so hard in San Diego. I can't wait.
Starting point is 00:43:11 I'll be Malibu's most wanted. Well, you say this every year and then we just go back at 830. You're the first one. You're the first one. We eat too much dinner at like 7 p.m. And then we go to bed. Like I want to, I have a dream.
Starting point is 00:43:23 Y'all make me. I have a dream. Okay. Because every year you're like, this year we're going on some boats. I'm waiting. I'm like, we're going on a boat this year for sure.
Starting point is 00:43:30 It's whale watching season. Like, you know, Steve, just go ahead and go. I'll try to be nice, but you guys don't like that. My fault, Dr. King, Steve. You got something? No, the best, it's genuinely the best parts of this movie. And it sucks because the most illustrated that Kara is, as a character fully fleshed out,
Starting point is 00:43:45 is when she is sitting across from Clark and Super. and Superman because of the fact that, again, Clark had everything from birth. Yes, he is technically an orphan. Yes, he is technically like the lost child of a society long dead, but he never knew any of that and never truly experienced any of it. And he had pretty much the most charmed life that anybody could have ever hoped for, along with being the fact that he's all powerful, all seeing, and the most kind-hearted person in the world.
Starting point is 00:44:14 Kara doesn't have that and therefore cannot relate to any of. And that makes their interplay really interesting. It's amazing to see. Because she carries the trauma of Krypton with her. He only carries the genius. Like he's not burdened by, he doesn't know anything about it. He's not burdened by it. He only carries the genius.
Starting point is 00:44:35 He carries a tremendous privilege when it comes to be Kryptonian. She carries all the burden and the trauma with it. So she's actually making more of a choice to serve than he is. Yes. Because all he's doing is protecting his back yard. And again, we haven't praised Millie Alcock enough. We pardoned in this motherfucker than day. We haven't praised Millie Alcock enough about it because when she's across from David
Starting point is 00:44:55 Cornswet and Cornswet's amazing in these scenes, so is she. Superman is like kind of afraid of her because he's like trying his best to like relate and not offend her and be like this kind of like stewardship for humanity and goodness and not lose her to the, these benders and these self-destructive tendencies that he clearly sees her on. And it's like trying to lull her back into like being safe and assured and a good person. And she outright rejects him. And he is like trying in like it's a test of his to try to like make the case for her humanity as well as his own. It's the only time the movie actually works is when they're on screen together and either through like context clues or them actively saying it. is like, oh, car has had to deal with this her whole life.
Starting point is 00:45:51 My dog, you just showed up here as a baby. And you, like, they love you and the whole thing. I had to deal with all this stuff. I had to, like, see my family die. You know what I mean? Like, it's very much different. And it's like, again, we don't, we're not massaged this year. We love women.
Starting point is 00:46:08 But then you're like, but then you leave the movie going like, so, man, that's Superman. Every time Superman was on screen, it was fire. That's not, that's not like, it's not like, It's just their interactions scared of the movie. So published Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:46:25 What? Jesus Christ. Read the headline. Read the headline. Published July 29th, 2020. Sexism is rife in Nigerian,
Starting point is 00:46:35 Kenyan and South African press. And it's unchecked. It's the world coming. It's unchecked. It's crazy. What did you? Jesus Christ. What did you Google to get that?
Starting point is 00:46:46 What? Why were you trying to find that? This is a publication called The Conversation. Academic Linger. Journalistic Flair. Limsey, Blummel, and... Amen. All right.
Starting point is 00:46:59 We're not doing it. We're not doing it. This lady, but she's from there. So she knows what she's talking about. So look, Jomey's saying that the best parts of the Supergirl movie is Superman. We, we not, we got to get away. We, the middle of us disavowed. Before we get off, like, Millie Al Gore,
Starting point is 00:47:17 stocking Superman, I mean Supergirl. What I realize is the Peter quillification of her character doesn't make sense. Yeah, she'll. Tough. Because the whole, what I thought was interesting about it is I'm like, well, she was a teenager when she grew up on Krypton. So this is essentially like a back-to-the-future situation
Starting point is 00:47:35 where it's like, yo, her present was way more futuristic than anything Superman has on fucking Earth. So why is our understanding of her character so wrapped up in her loving, earth music and all of these other things where I'm like but you should almost think that shit is beneath her
Starting point is 00:47:53 not only earth music but specifically old tech like the scrolling iPod the polaroid the 80s headphones that doesn't make any because I'm just like
Starting point is 00:48:04 they had beats back then what are you doing but to me I'm just like she comes from another culture where I'm like to me it's almost more interesting
Starting point is 00:48:13 if Clark is the one with the fucking bad music taste with the iPod trying to share it with her. And she's just like, dog, I'm older than you, stronger than you, and this shit is not of me. This is kind of one. I'm not being a contrarian here. I'm just throwing aside to you guys.
Starting point is 00:48:27 You know, she's only a little bit of a Kryptonian. They break away, and they, they're Kryptonians, but they also, she's also like not really from Krypton. From Argo City? She's from Argo City, which is a Kryptonian city. So you said, so you saying if the Earth gets destroyed and New York City. City like pops off. They're not from Earth anymore.
Starting point is 00:48:50 This is an interesting fucking scenario. I mean, New York City is already its own planet. Because if New York City were the one that broke off and we might not recognize them. That's his own fucking plan. It really is. Actually, not I think about that it is true.
Starting point is 00:49:06 You know what I'm saying? It's all the next parade. That's his own fucking planet. But anyway, I understand what you guys are saying. I think honestly, Millie Alcock in the movie is a bright spot. She's the greatest supergirl. I think she has a hold on the character.
Starting point is 00:49:21 I think the, to your point, I don't think, I think the script fails her. Yeah. Where she's not bad in the movie. It is just like, she kind of gets lost a little bit. And I will say this. This is a, it is hard for any actor to be in these type of movies because the script, everything is happening. You have all the CGI and I need to be able to like look at it.
Starting point is 00:49:47 at you and be like, oh, when I'm getting overwhelmed, if we bring up Ant Man again, the reason Paul Rudd is so good in Ant Man is that no matter how wacky that movie gets, I can look at Paul Rudd, I can look at Robert Downey Jr. And I think with Millie Alcock, because everyone around her did not really know
Starting point is 00:50:04 the tone that they were trying to go for, she kind of gets lost in the fucking CGI sludge of it all. Yeah, I mean, look, you know, there's other superhero-based stuff that I could, like, just point out, but it's bullshit, right? Like, I'm not going to talk about power sets and what people could do
Starting point is 00:50:20 and, like, you know, all of that. I'm not doing that stuff. Like, just from the narrative itself, this movie wasn't, to me, the best way to propel Supergirl forward. It wasn't. Now, by the end of the film, this is kind of one of those movies
Starting point is 00:50:37 that might do the thing that I was talking about. You could see a really good sequel in here somewhere. Sure. With a character that's more self-assured, that knows yourself a little bit more. maybe this iteration of Supergirl was a little bit too complicated for them to understand
Starting point is 00:50:49 what they need to do with their own screen. But now that she knows, so she is a little bit more, she is a more militant, a little bit more of a savage, more a cryptonian version of a Kryptonian earthling hero. She kills a guy at the end. Yeah, but what do you guys think of the end? Man, somebody better kill this guy.
Starting point is 00:51:04 You've saved way too long. So that is also funny about how the, spoiler alerts, how the comic and the movie diverge. Because the story that they're telling, And I don't like the choice in the comic book, but it's interesting. It's essentially that...
Starting point is 00:51:19 To live a longer forever? Yeah, they like trap crem in like the phantom zone. And what you're supposed to walk away with is Kara and Ruthie being like, we are better than this. And that there is some form of rehabilitation for people like this. I think that ending is bullshit. But I also think the movie version of it is bullshit.
Starting point is 00:51:39 Death penalty advocate. Hmm? Death penalty advocate. Well, I mean, the thing is... Okay. She does a thing where she's like... No, no, no, no, no. you can't rehabilitate genocide genocidal maniacs.
Starting point is 00:51:47 Right. I was the same, but so you put them to death. The state does. No, this is why I think the movie is bullshit. Because she's like, Ruthie, she's just like, Ruthie. You can't do this. You'll stay with you for the rest of it. Wait a second though.
Starting point is 00:52:01 Wait a second though. She didn't want it for Ruthie. That, that, like, you understand. See, that's some old head shit. Like, I want better for Jomey than for me. I don't want Jomey's ready to look like mine. Like, it's like. I promise you a dozen.
Starting point is 00:52:14 I've seen you already. It does not look like that. First of all, nigga. Okay, well, look. You know, no, no, no, he would, I remember. That was, I was just saying, look, what just popped up. Wait, so basically, supergirl didn't want, what's the little, what's a little, homie who kills Omar, she didn't want him to be?
Starting point is 00:52:30 Yeah, well, it was the popped Omar, she didn't want her to be him. Right. The kid of the convenience store. Was it in a little Kevin? What was his name? I forget. The kid of the convenience store? Yeah, that pop of Omar. He was tortured a cat before, and, Mar just walked past him and he was like I thought it was just an unnamed kid.
Starting point is 00:52:48 No, fuck no. No, he had been in the whole show. It's been a minute as I re-watched. Yeah. Mike beat him up because he um. Canard. Conard. Yeah, look crazy. That big girl was crazy. Don, Ruthie as Conard would have been. I'll tell you something about Ruthie. And, you know,
Starting point is 00:53:03 I just got a over over time here, you guys have like got at me. Right, pluck watch. Pluck watch, yeah. Plucky bullshit. throughout the entire plucky fucking
Starting point is 00:53:16 bullshit throughout the entire deal the thing about pluck at least on my end is that if you got like superpowers if you can like
Starting point is 00:53:24 at least help out and you feel compelled to help out and even if it goes the wrong way at least you like hooped right even if you score 30
Starting point is 00:53:32 on 35 shots you know a lot of volume but at least you got something done right you got at least get out there
Starting point is 00:53:38 and ball and Ruthie only bought the one time when she was getting out of prison when she was like, oh, come, I'm gonna see him. She killed him and go.
Starting point is 00:53:47 But outside of that, she was just watching, bro. And that's tough. That's tough if somebody wants to defend the plug. And getting other niggas in the danger. If we're putting
Starting point is 00:53:57 characters, recent characters in the plucky hall of fame, who we put, Ruthie got to be in there. Ruthie up there. What's we'll call it from Last of Us definitely in there. Abby?
Starting point is 00:54:11 Or not Abby. Not happy. Ellie? Ellie. Ellie, definitely. Ellie Plucky is shit. At least Ellie would kill it. Is Baby Yoda plucky or no?
Starting point is 00:54:19 No. He got the forest, man. He got the, he's not. Having to flirt with you. Oh, whoa. Princess Leia. Little Prince.
Starting point is 00:54:25 That's super plug. That's a club. When she was dodging and weeve it, the bullfuck. I mean, you would say Hot guys plucky. Nah, not, not too plucky.
Starting point is 00:54:38 Okay. She plucky. But she also, I will say, y'all going to be mad, Miss Marvel Plucky. We really got to put a man in here because Lady David is all right now. She can't really.
Starting point is 00:54:47 Miss Marvel can who? You really can't put her as Plucky because she can get busy. Plucky are people that put other people in the fucking. Right. Damian Wayne be plucky as hell? Oh, Damian Wayne.
Starting point is 00:54:57 Yeah, he is. Damian Wayne is definitely. You're talking to the Damian Way's from family right here. Yes. You can kill you. No, no, no. Damian Wayne B. Here's the thing with Plucky.
Starting point is 00:55:05 It's not just about fucking people up. Bitch. You can fuck people up and fuck the situation up. That makes you plucky. Listen, listen, listen. that doesn't make you... He's not fighting to save today. He's just...
Starting point is 00:55:13 No. Damien Wayne is actually held back by his father. What? Helped back by his father? You're talking to the... This is number one. Damien... I'm saying...
Starting point is 00:55:23 Damien, the only Robin who sucks more is Jason Todd. That's like... Are you a Tim Drake defender? Hell no. Tim Drake is... So you're only like Grace in it? If I was running DC, kill all them little, megas.
Starting point is 00:55:38 So he only like Grace? I don't know a lot of people feel this way. I know a lot of people feel this way. I don't know. I'll be honest. Tim Drake, Tim Drake has good comics. By the way,
Starting point is 00:55:46 we're going to drop this one because y'all kick my ass over the dark night shit. And people love Damian Wayne. Damian Wayne, like, nobody loves him as much as you. I'm in, fuck Damien. Nobody loves Damien. No,
Starting point is 00:55:59 he's annoying. He is the way Robin's supposed to be. You know, the only time he really, like, in a comic where I'm like, I love Damien is when he was next to Dick Grace it. Because it's so funny.
Starting point is 00:56:10 Yeah, Your older brother being like, niggins. But see, I like this though. Damian Wayne want to go out there and bust some fucking skulls. And they got to keep. And that's plucky. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:56:22 that's plucky. Rank your four robins. My four robins? Yeah, rank the four robins. So it's Grayson. It's Wayne. And I'm going to be real with you, dog. It's such a drop-off after that.
Starting point is 00:56:33 It's probably Drake because he really is an awesome character in terms of like what he could do. The detective shit is really interesting. Are we only hating on top because he got got by the Joker? Is that why? I don't like him. No, he's just, honestly, he's fucking Aldi's Punisher. Where it's like, they never know, like, they're like, yeah, he got guns, but he got rubber bullets in him. Well, I hate him.
Starting point is 00:56:53 At really, four is the girl from the Dark Night, uh, from the graphic. Oh, Carrie? Oh, Dark Night Returns? Yeah, I like her. I fuck her. Over Jason Tuh. Over Jason Tah. I don't, I'm not Jason Taw guy, bro.
Starting point is 00:57:06 I don't fuck with Jason Taw like that. You're tough for. Is. It's gracing easily Tim Drake, Damian, what should you call it? Todd.
Starting point is 00:57:17 No, I'll put Stephanie Brown. I'm going to say. Wow. So how brus? Tim Drake really is as a character or real round it, awesome robin. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:57:26 and I will say Damien was cool in the Morrison run when he sees Tim Drake in his daddy's bad cave and he's like, I'm fucking him up. And everything goes back. And he just,
Starting point is 00:57:39 Tim Drake laid the, fuck out. I love that. How big is the gap between Robin with a samurai boy? That nigga's Hayden, bro. Between Dick Grayson and
Starting point is 00:57:47 Red Robin between Tim Drake. Oh, the gap is right. In basketball terms, what would it be? It's like, yeah,
Starting point is 00:57:57 Dick Grayson is Robin. Yeah. Grand Canyon size. It's like Luca over here. Dick Grayson is Robin. Dick Grayson is a perfect Robin. He's a counterpart. You want to know what?
Starting point is 00:58:08 A son. Tim Drake, Kyle. He's like, oh my God Who's not? I mean, well, you got to deal with Kyle Coosma. Kyle Coosma, I mean, this is wild. Kyle Cousma, I mean, this is wild. Yeah, that's funny, man.
Starting point is 00:58:21 You know, can I just say something real quick? And this is not at Charles, because Charles looked like Kyle Coosman. Damn it. This is a handsome guy, Carl Coosman, you're getting hos. Y'all is a haggis, bro. Like, why don't they fuck me? Yeah. Like, it's not fucking a computer.
Starting point is 00:58:38 Oh, Damien, why is I want him? Why do I get a drive-bye? Boy, boy, boy. And you want to know why? Because you just think, I know what you're going to say. I don't, like, hey, I listen. I love listening to all our podcasts. Listen to the fucking Bill Simmons talking about Kyle Kuzma.
Starting point is 00:58:53 It's just like, I'm like, bro, like, you act like this is the worst nigga. Like, it's just, like, he's a killing. Wait, what was his tweet to? This is the thing that hooping a lot. Bro, it's so funny, bro. If Kyle Kuzma comes to your rung, Kyle Kuzma, comes to your rung, Kyle Cousa is God. You know, you're beating ass on the gym.
Starting point is 00:59:12 If Kyle Cusma comes to your run, if Kyle Cusma pops up, if you see Kyle Cusma, you wouldn't understand the level of basketball player. Bryce Calabrini said the coldest line. What do you say? I'm closer to Jordan than you are to me. He said, I'm closer to LeBron.
Starting point is 00:59:29 Oh. He said, I'm closer to LeBron than you are to me. And he's right. Well, no, so counterpoint, counterpoint, I would say this about Alder Robbins. We talk about 10, Drake. Tim Drake, when you put him
Starting point is 00:59:40 with Young Justice and the Teen Titans cold. He's like, y'all in Aqualad, who are you? You know what I'm saying? Superboy, I don't even know if you're a clone or are you from the future. Who the fuck are you? If you put the robins in any other category, they're great. If it's Robin against Robin,
Starting point is 00:59:56 it's like, nigga, you're not really him. You just stumbled on to a question I want to ask you guys as we wind down this amazing podcast of the movie we did liked very much. The bad family works for you guys.
Starting point is 01:00:13 I'm not a big fan of the bad family. I love the bad family. I don't love the bad family. I love the bad family. You love the bad family. But I would say that the bad family can work because they're human. And they have these human stories and they have these human vulnerabilities and all of this stuff. Right. The super
Starting point is 01:00:33 family, a fucking bulletproof dog. Yeah. A clone that can fly sometimes. Sometimes he can't fly. Sometimes he's Superman as a kid Sometimes he's a different person You know all of this stuff right there You know Chiquel O'Neill.
Starting point is 01:00:45 You know all of that stuff The Super film is crazy The Super Family Is a tougher sale to people Yeah Yeah It's a tougher sell sometimes With Superboy and all that stuff
Starting point is 01:00:56 Like that because Really You can't have too many Cryptonians Because like If you got two Kryptonians I'm gonna start asking the question Well
Starting point is 01:01:06 If we got two Crotonians Why do we need a Justice League? If we got two Kryptonians, Like we got two of the baddest motherfuckers in the world. Yeah. They should really be able to handle. If you got three kryptonians, if you got Superman, supergirl, then you actually have a problem.
Starting point is 01:01:20 Then you actually have a proper. Then a super dog. Now I'm like, the rest of y'all could get fucked. We kind of got it figured out. If I'm being honest, this is why I should have made Lex Suther Black. Because if I see three white alias flying around with the powers of Superman, I'm a little bit like, hmm.
Starting point is 01:01:35 It's a problem. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? This is, we, this is. we it is a little because even in the comic books it's not just Superman there's two superboys now
Starting point is 01:01:45 yeah it's two there's Connell who's the clone and then there's Superman's son John oh John he's also Superboy but he's Superman just talking about Jonathan Kent isn't he's Superman they made him Superman for like 12 months and then you back to being a superboy
Starting point is 01:02:02 and then we got Superwoman San Francisco Giants organization what he became a superboy oh yeah Superman Y'all not get that. I got it. I got it. Piss off the San Francisco Giants organization.
Starting point is 01:02:13 It's Pride Month, man. You can't do this. They against us. They are. They are the last franchise. Anyway, let's not, you get the gentleman, you got that joke,
Starting point is 01:02:19 though. That's up. What's happening with you? Anyway, if we go back to Supergirl, I also have to bring this up. I love his movies. I think he's one of the funniest
Starting point is 01:02:30 coldest motherfuckers alive. But when I heard Seth Rogen's voice in this shit, I was like, come on. You had the funniest line in the movie, though. No, he did. The funny side of the movie. And it was still a little bit like, that to me felt like this movie isn't working.
Starting point is 01:02:43 We need to bring in somebody with such a distinctive voice and comedic timing. And it just kind of felt like. Did the film Phil Frankenstein for you? Yeah. If I'm being real and this is where I'm start, y'all motherfuckers are like gun don't jam, gun don't jam. I'm like, hey, this to me reminds me of exactly what happened with the flash where it's like for months and months, James Gunn was politic and and like the Flash is incredible, Flash is incredible. They did the same thing with Supergirl.
Starting point is 01:03:10 They're like, yo, if you think Superman's hot, Supergirl even better. They're not going to sell a movie. They're not going to come out and tell you this movie sucks. No, no, no, I'm not saying that. But I went into this being like, oh, Superman damn near just the appetizer to show you, like, we're building this world. And we're going to prove to you the Supergirl that this is, like,
Starting point is 01:03:30 there is so much more story to tell. And I left this being like, damn, if you don't get David Corners sweat up in here, Where I think your observation is devastating and true is that this movie being better than Superman or being whatever, it's high-purpably all that stuff, we understand that. But we also were told that no movies would be made until the scripts were locked and the scripts were amazing. This is not an amazing script, not as, not what showed up on the screen. And so James Guns, DC Universe is not going to just be relegated or reserved. to the movies that he directs and writes. The real health of that universe
Starting point is 01:04:14 is going to be about the films that are expansive outside of his direct creative purview and what he can influence and whether or not he can be... Fikey didn't write and direct one movie. Yeah. One movie that wasn't his dance, that's not what he does. Right? The creative intelligentsia that existed at the MCU at his height
Starting point is 01:04:36 was this thing that the quality control was so robust. You was never going to get a bad giant. Right. It didn't feel like... And that's Kevin Feigey's new. And if you did, it didn't feel like,
Starting point is 01:04:47 then they lost it, right? They lost it because they got too bloated because, you know, like whatever, the fucking Donna of the Dead, the virus escaped, the goddamn, they're not all Philadelphia on fire. Or that wasn't Donner to Dead.
Starting point is 01:04:58 Which one was the one where it starts in Philadelphia? I don't... What's talking about? What's... We're talking about it? No. Like, there was one zombie movie where it was... Philadelphia was the first city.
Starting point is 01:05:08 I don't know. He was in Philly. Oh, it was World War Z. Oh, okay. It was in Philly. Well. It was in North Philly and Meek Mill was screaming. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:05:19 There was in New Philly. Yeah, you were in. Imagine if it's the zombie apocalypse and you get chased by zombie meek Mill. That shit crazy. Zombie meek Mill. I think the worst place would be bad ruge. Because you're not going to be able to tell which one. Anyway.
Starting point is 01:05:32 What? What? What? Hey. I really, before we wrap up, because I want to talk maybe about box office future DC, I'm not trying to rewrite their movie.
Starting point is 01:05:44 There is a part of me now that we're talking that I'm like, is this movie more interesting if Crem Poisons Crypto, that all happens, but it's Superman trying to stop Supergirl? Because to me, that is the interesting thing.
Starting point is 01:06:00 If Superman no. Stop giving away her movie to the man. You're so fucking toxic. Because I'm thinking of like Supergirl is like, she's like, I'm going to kill him. He's killing all these planets. Yeah. We need to end this. And she looks at Clark.
Starting point is 01:06:13 She's like, you could have done this on Earth years ago and you didn't. I mean, that's interesting. But I just, I do think in this movie, this movie had the maximum amount of Superman before it became kind of corny that they were putting them in the movie too much. Yeah. Yeah. But Millie Alcock didn't have anyone really to play against. Except Superman. Right.
Starting point is 01:06:34 Because, like, when she was doing the ditsy routine in front of Lobo, I was like, this sticks. I know, but you got to let her fly. It was her movie. So, like, and by the way, they, at the, I thought. Can I be real? What? They didn't let Spider-Boy fly.
Starting point is 01:06:48 They didn't let Spider-Boy's swing. They had to have, they had to have Robin Downey Jr. I don't know. I want to hear that from you now. Because I said that a long time ago. Steal and me like, my fucking Spider-Man. Like, I don't want to. Not my Spider-Man.
Starting point is 01:07:00 Not my Spider-Man. That's funny. Man, we'll see him in a couple of months. No, we don't. He'll see if he can swing alone in his next one. Come on, man. Like, I think, we don't have time to get on the whole spot. No, no, no, no.
Starting point is 01:07:12 I'm talking about, like, to this point, I think the con, like, I think she was good. I don't know if, like, remember when the first screens were coming down? People were like, yo, man, she's the next, like, Drop Baradne Jr., Chris Evans of this role. I don't know if it's there yet, but she was really good. She did a good job. She did a really good job. But I think there is a level of they, they, they, they, they. still need to tweak some stuff about her character specifically because, I mean, we've
Starting point is 01:07:39 talked about it. She only really shines when she's talking to Clark. Like that's it. At the end of the movie, though, in that scene that they had that was a lot more sober where she seems like she's now the earth is her home, she wants to try to make it her home, all of that. I did see a command in that one scene. To your point, I think the reason why you wanted to see more of this, kind of this reflective
Starting point is 01:08:03 thing, I want to see more. Clark in the movie is because he's a perfect foil for her. Yeah. In terms of like what he represents. How the movie really sets that up. And that's why it works because it makes her character a little bit more resolute. She seems stronger when he's there.
Starting point is 01:08:16 And they have chemistry. They have great chemistry. But not because Superman's in the scene, but because Superman is on the other side of what she actually is. And also because it is so interesting because we never really get to see this in Marvel, in my opinion, which is like, oh, there's two people in here who are evenly matched. Superman is looking at his family member who was just as powerful.
Starting point is 01:08:39 So it's something that, like, we haven't really gotten in the modern age with Superman and live action, which we're like, instead of him being alone or next to Batman, it's like, no, I'm next to somebody that can understand me, but fundamentally really can't. Are you guys surprised we didn't get any, like, a man of tomorrow, like, no teeth at the end or nothing like that? Man. Didn't they, they, they said, fuck you. It's tough. Not going to be that. We need to see some brainiac.
Starting point is 01:09:03 But here, I want to get to that. First, let's talk about projections. This is from deadline. So, reportedly, this movie costs $170 to make. And the box office forecast is either upper 40s. Lucky we're getting a 50-mill domestic. Is that a success, Ben? Is that a failure?
Starting point is 01:09:28 Is it somewhere in the middle? Because, wait, the party line that they keep trotting out is. If it makes 50 domestic, I'll call it success. Do you think so? Like, just the weekend? I will call it, how about this? If it makes 50 domestic just the weekend, I would, I would, if it makes 50 domestic, domestic, I would say it's not like a terrible fucking flop.
Starting point is 01:09:49 It's not a terrible flop. But here's a thing. It has competition with Toy Story 5. I don't think it's going to make 50. The minions coming out next week. Minions is next week, so forget it. This is a movie where I don't think. word of mouth is going to carry.
Starting point is 01:10:04 The word of mouth is not going to carry it. The movie might lose money. We got to talk about box office. I'm so bored with talking about box office. We have to talk about box office. It's our job to talk about box office. We had a conversation before this where we talked about
Starting point is 01:10:18 what was more important. This being good or this being profitable? I'm telling you right now, if you're sitting in D.C. right now, if you're Warner Brothers right now, you would accept a soft box office landing if people love the movie. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:10:34 Yeah. Like, I think before, it was easy to kind of forecast and prognosticate. But if people were leaving this movie going, we fucking love this shit. And if this was a underappreciated. If it was a he-man situation, he-man was pretty divisive. But I get what you... I mean, they're making a scene. People like that and they're going to make a sequence.
Starting point is 01:10:53 I'm on the same page. They would much rather that than being in the situation they are right now where the box office might be I 50% are on raw tomatoes people are like what the fuck is this shit
Starting point is 01:11:07 that I just look at I'm inclined to agree but the the 170 is like shocking me because that did not look like
Starting point is 01:11:12 a 170 million If I'm going to be real to they James Gunn and I think this was a problem with Superman as well they have not been able
Starting point is 01:11:22 to really situate Superman and Supergirl's powers in a way Nah it doesn't make sense that you could do a whole hour
Starting point is 01:11:31 on it doesn't make any sense What you're right. What you're saying is true. I'm agreeing with you. Because I was like, there were times in this movie where I was like, wait, Supergirl has... Why she's moving so slow? She's like she can...
Starting point is 01:11:40 Why she's moving so slow? She's supposed to be almost as fast as the Flash. What are we doing? Why is she moving so slow? Done. Like, why is she running around? Why she doing karate? Like, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 01:11:53 It's like... You know what I don't know. Sometimes when they're... When she's flying, there were a couple of flying scenes where I was like, the flying scenes in Superman to me, not all of them, but a lot of them, but a lot of them were really good. And this I was just like, wait, why does the flying in this look so way? But here's a deal though. And this is the thing. There's another, there's a problem. That's why I give grace in this situation. Man, bro, it's one thing. Maybe you come up with a
Starting point is 01:12:20 conceit where you got like, because they have this to have yellow, half green son. Yeah, yeah. Maybe you come up with a seat where it's like a fuchsia son. She's like nerfed a little bit. In the middle of where she's nerfed a little bit because the real answer to the question is this. The moment that fucking sun comes up and it's yellow, they fucked. Everybody's fucked. Nobody's close. She's a God at that point. She's not like even, she's not a pure adversary to none of them.
Starting point is 01:12:46 The moment that that sun is yellow. The moment that son is yellow, she is basically Superman and they are fucking done. And I will say this. And they can't do the movie like that. I am not a fan of the Snyderverse. They make his house Superman was moving in those. Man. I miss that shit, bro.
Starting point is 01:13:02 Like, come on. We're throwing Zach Snyder's some bad. It's over. Steppenwolf. It's over. Through the axe. The Seppin' Wolf tried to come down on the axe. The axe hits,
Starting point is 01:13:11 hits Henry Caval. He smiles. Bitch, you fucked. It's Cal L. of the planet crypt. You're fucked. Batman versus Superman when he's like punching him with the krypton night and then eventually it's slower and slower.
Starting point is 01:13:22 It's slower and then he's like, and then he's like, and then even Batman goes, whoa. He's like, whoa, big guy. Whoa, big guy. Like you're, when that guy shows up, which is why you got to get tricky with the narrative. When that guy shows up, the fight's over unless you got the Green Rock.
Starting point is 01:13:38 I love how the kryptonite was like so rarely available for everybody. It's like keeping, like, it's like keeping a spear for a Willie Man. They are in space though. Right, but in this movie. They're in space or you would think that maybe there would be more kryptonite around. Yeah, but just in case you see people from a planet that's been dead for God's a long. I mean, even when crime shoots the thing, I'm like, yo, you are so fast, Supergirl? Well, it's the right son.
Starting point is 01:14:02 But like, when he shoots him, turn even on the ship, I'm like, you were so fast just go, like, motherfuckily. You're supposed to be as fast as to play. But I will say, let's get to a midnight minute, but I will say that like, we're still answering questions about what the power scaling is for the Superman, the cryptonians of James Gunn's universe, because you can even watch
Starting point is 01:14:21 like James Gunn's Superman and be like, I gotta be. That is the, when I tell you that is the question that, not the question that complaint that I hear in the barbershop all the time is like, Hell, why Superman so black? Can I tell y'all something? Black people specifically were not accepting this Superman.
Starting point is 01:14:42 Really? No, dog. My dude went to the theater and he was like, hey man, Superman was getting his fucking ass cake. My sister, the beautiful Ebony Lathen was like, I didn't like it. Like Superman is supposed to be able to whip the shit out of everything. You're supposed to be a dog?
Starting point is 01:15:00 Yeah, like, what the fuck is going on with Superman? I heard from a lot of mine. my people, and they were like, yo, I don't like this Superman that can get a bloody nose, man. Fuck all of that shit. Well, I mean, he was getting punched by another Superman, so, like, I can kind of, I can kind of see. I mean, I'm here what you're talking about. So before we get to the Midnight Meter, my last question for y'all is, and the fans will want to know, with everything that's come from this DC so far, we got peacemaker, creature commandos, Superman, Supergirl. We got Clayface coming up and Manit Tomorrow.
Starting point is 01:15:31 Is the gun jammed? It's not, I couldn't say it's jam yet because they, it fired in the most, it fired the most important bullet, which was Superman. Peacemaker, you know, we had proof of concept before about that. I didn't watch one second at Christian Commandos
Starting point is 01:15:46 Make it so. I didn't mind Grisha Commandos. It's all right. And we got Manit tomorrow. I'll tell you what, if Clayface, and I hope to God Clayface does not brick, the second that that is over and then Manus Mar comes out. And it's like you need to cut this Clayface shit out.
Starting point is 01:16:02 get Wonder Woman in here, get Green Lantern in here, get questions. While you're walking through D.C. right now being like, hey, where's Batman? I think Clayface, I think Clayface is going to be more of an important endeavor, even than Man of Tomorrow, just because Clayface will show whether or not this universe.
Starting point is 01:16:20 We know James Gunn can make good movies. I'll say this again. We know James Gunn can make good movies. We know that he can make good stuff. We already know this. There's a track record there. But the health of his universe will do. depend on other people being able to execute collaborative visions with him.
Starting point is 01:16:35 Yeah, all I'm going to say, Robert Patton's about to be the most important person at D.C. Just bring him in the back of Batman. I mean, they're not going to do that. I mean, I've set this, I've said this a billion times about James Gunn. Sorry, my brother, but I might have to do it again. Well, got to lock in. He's not locked in, and it's fine. How much it's okay?
Starting point is 01:16:53 Like, the gun jammed? Is the gun jammed? We'll have to see after Clayface, but because after Clayface, we start getting serious again a man of tomorrow, right? So if Clayface either, let's say, it doesn't make money or it's not good, whatever, like, I hope it's good. Like, it should, we were talking about this yesterday, right? Coming down Halloween, people are like, really into horror movies right now. It should make some money if it's like the guest that they said it was because he read the script. He's like, I got to make this movie. It's a good movie. It makes money. Then to your point, him executing
Starting point is 01:17:23 a collaborative vision. That's a success, right? But we got to start seeing the hits, Big Bell. Like, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. If Clayface don't work, it's Supergo don't work, brother. Let's see the hitters. Let's do it. All right, so. Midnight meter, y'all know what it is.
Starting point is 01:17:38 One to 12, one being the worst, 11, 12 reserve for true game changers. I'll start with you, Jomey, and then you, Steve. Where are we going? Ah, man, this is, um, it was, it's rough, but I got to give it a four, man. Wow. I got to give it four. Steve? Um, five for me.
Starting point is 01:18:00 I'm going five, too. Yeah, I'm going four. Okay. I'm going five, two. Four is below the Mendoza line of movies. I can't quite go there. Uh-huh. I gave Disclosure Day of five, man.
Starting point is 01:18:11 And this is at least, this is no, disclosure day is better than this. At least, but, I don't know, dog. Wait, what? I don't know, right. I don't think so, man. I don't think so, Tim. You're not doing your van bullshit. I'm not doing any bullshit.
Starting point is 01:18:26 Nah, bro. You think Supergirl was better than Disclosure Day. I think they about what, what? Disclosure Day is not the worst fucking movie in the world. It's not. It's not. And Supergirl's not the worst movie. They're both perfectly mediocre.
Starting point is 01:18:38 Y'all going to be mad. I think this movie is better than He, man. Okay. Yeah, but I think He Man does. I have a lot more fun than He, man. But there's some nostalgia day. I can't act like I'm not biased. There's more color in He, man.
Starting point is 01:18:47 That's for sure. Yeah. This movie, to me, was better than... No, actually, it's tie with Mandolian and Grogu. Because here's the thing. The Grogu's the... silent film basically does make that shit work. Like, that's great.
Starting point is 01:19:00 There's nothing in that movie that... That was that endearing. And the plug in this movie was getting to a point where it was about to fuck you up a little bit. I like Millie Alcock, though. I think a sequel will be better. All right. Prohmanna, that's enough. Sunday, Talk the Thrones continues with the
Starting point is 01:19:16 second episode of House of the Dragon. Next week, the Midnight Boys cover House of the Dragon and the season premiere of X-Men 97. And X-Lex-Den-N-N-7-all. Shout out to my people in the community. Our producers are LA Zanaris, C.T. Devin Boraldi, Jomi and Dinner on social hashtag Jomi of the Red Sun. Jami, Sexist Nigerian.
Starting point is 01:19:38 We're not doing that. An additional production from Arjuna Ram Gapal. Unchecked. Chuck, take us out. Let's not do that. Dick Grayson is Robin. Supergirl had too much pluck. The gun might be jammed.
Starting point is 01:19:58 And superhero movies may be fun. Ooh! Well, because, so you went to the screen and you had chicken into the theater? Did you smell it? Now, you can do chicken fingers. You can't do straight up. Like, you can't bring, I know niggas who bring Popeyes in the theaters. You can't.
Starting point is 01:20:27 So that's my thing. Like, yeah. Blake, you, you, you, I know people snuck in and out, Chipotle, a Pan Express. That's too much, bro. Anything, like, too, like, aromatic? Yeah. Like, you can't do that. smelling that shit for the rest of the movie.
Starting point is 01:20:40 I'm like, come on, yeah. Like, you can't bring in hot McDonald's. You can't bring in... Got to be cold? I'm not saying, I'm not saying it needs to be cold, but what I'm saying is like, it'll smell up the whole theater. Anything that has a lot of grease in it where the grease is going to give me a headache an hour in is like a no-go.
Starting point is 01:20:55 Yeah, I mean, there are certain things that are foods that are theater-approved and certain foods that aren't. But we all know that theater etiquette has been dying for... I got to be honest. I can't remember the last time, like, I stuck in food or somebody else stuck in food. to a movie theater. This is stuff we were doing in high school.
Starting point is 01:21:12 That's when it was a cost situation. Of course, yeah. But the movie theater, I would, movie theater food isn't good, but it's become convenient enough where it's like, why am I gonna go to pop-by?
Starting point is 01:21:22 They got chicken fingers here. You know what I'm right? Yeah. Even though, like, I mean, the prices would be crazy, but I will say also back when I was growing up,
Starting point is 01:21:30 we didn't have all this movie theater security. Like, we didn't have people who were like checking, it's like you bought your shit. Yeah. So you can literally walk in with any, I can walk in with book bags. Don't even start.
Starting point is 01:21:38 Don't even start. hadn't walked in and lit the theater up yet. I mean, what was that, 2012? Yeah, we got to, I mean, the policy is failing all over the place, and now we have to live in a police state. That's the way it goes. The citywalk thing is insane, though. Oh, by the way, I had not experienced that until I went to CityWalk
Starting point is 01:21:58 to try to get the blue Yamamoto jersey. Bruh. Didn't have it? No, fucking Yamamoto and Otani, out of here. I can't find the jerseys. Can't find the jerseys. Not all mine either. In the white.
Starting point is 01:22:12 I sold out. Damn. Yeah. Yamamoto. Otoni, good. I feel bad for Freeman and bets. They got a lot of jersey. Because when I went to the game this past weekend,
Starting point is 01:22:21 I don't want to go too far. But I haven't seen ORA like that from an L.A. athlete since Kobe. That includes LeBron James. I haven't seen the, I haven't seen O'A. Yeah. I haven't seen ORA like that for L. with people holding their breath. He's getting murals for sure.
Starting point is 01:22:41 Like, like, he goes up to bed, everybody's phone is like this. What's the joint that plays? The slow song that he, that he's walk-up music? Oh, the bubble blade. And I'm feeling good. Everybody's like, ah! So we go to the game and the Dodgers don't have a good offensive game. Like, the Dodgers were like no hit until like the sixth inning.
Starting point is 01:23:04 It was, again, I was having a lot of fun. Dodger Stadium is one of the great. is one of the greatest venues in the entire. Speak on. It's one. It's one. It's beautiful. Number one, it's beautiful. Number two, nothing at Dodger Stadium looks forced. It doesn't look too corporate. Obviously, there are corporate aspects to it.
Starting point is 01:23:19 But it's Dodger's, Dodge Stadium is really amazing. Right. The sunset there, if you go for a night game, it's just, it's breathtaking. It's a son of a bitch to get in and out of the park. I mean, that actually wasn't a big deal this time. I've hated it every time. That wasn't a big deal. I mean, shout out to all the people that were displaced to make the state.
Starting point is 01:23:37 Okay, your sacrifice is understood. Okay, now look. I mean, it was terrible situations. It was, it was. It was true. It's true. But we leave in the ninth. We don't leave in the ninth.
Starting point is 01:23:51 We go to a team shop, and we're looking for a blue Yamamoto or Eltoni jersey with the red numbers on the front. In the stadium. In the stadium. Okay. So they have team stores everywhere. So they go, okay, you don't want to go to this one. You want to go to the official state.
Starting point is 01:24:07 team store that's about a left file poll. They'll probably have it. Right. Okay, cool. So we say, okay, the ninth inning, the Dodgers haven't scored it down, I think three runs. The chances are not going to come back. We're going to go look for the jersey before we get back on the road.
Starting point is 01:24:22 And we get up and we're walking and Kalika goes, hold on for a second. Like, Shohey's up to back. You hear the song and Shohey's up to back. Showing is a fucking home run. Of course. Dude behind me, Latino Mexican brother. had a fucking panic attack.
Starting point is 01:24:39 He was like, this motherfucker, because he had left two. To do the same thing. I don't know if he had left to do the same thing, but he was going crazy. That he missed that home run. Now, he's in Dodger Stadium. Right, but still, you miss seeing it.
Starting point is 01:24:56 Yeah, but he was going nuts. And I'm like, yo, man, different motion. They really fucking love this guy. Corrata Weaves is going to be out soon. It's going crazy. You see what's going on in Mexico and during the World Cup? Oh, I see.
Starting point is 01:25:11 I see. Come on. Green Town was absolutely lit up. I tell you all something. That's going to be good for the homies moving forward, you know? How so? I mean, that's going to be good for them, man. Like, can you imagine what an older Chris Brown is going to have?
Starting point is 01:25:27 Like, it's going to be like in that situation. That's going to be good. What is he going to? That's a good mix. You're talking about, hold on. That's a good mix. that's a good mix like it's audio that's a good mix
Starting point is 01:25:41 and so I think moving forward it won't be for me I'm all right but for the new generation of LA guys especially niggas that could dance they're gonna really be in the I it's great that you think
Starting point is 01:25:54 that he's like the vanguard of a new okay I don't think you know what I'm talking about I think I know I know exactly what you're talking about you know exactly what you start recording please
