Oh, and welcome into the ringerverse.
Your Nexus for all things fandom.
I'm Steve Allman.
I'm Joe Me Dinner on.
And welcome back again, my mighty minty.
listeners. To Mint Edition, the once
and a while podcast about
all the fandom that you just can't live without. Jomi, you're shaking your head.
You didn't like that. My, mighty,
minty listeners. We were
stumbling along the mental road to get to Junior
Mintz and I just had to say something before
the car sputtered out into the road.
A yo.
A yo? How's that Ayo?
That's crazy, right? Mighty Minty listeners, dog.
My, mighty. You sound like a cult leader.
You sound like a winter green cult leader.
So here's the thing, right? Okay.
I feel like, and we'll talk about Comic-Con.
soon, but just bear with me for one quick second.
Yes.
I feel like peppermint is definitely red, right?
We've agreed on that.
Yeah.
Okay.
I think spear mint is blue, blue, and winter, and winter, uh, mint or whatever is green.
I think the only struggle that I would have with winter mintry mint is like, I think
the iconography and the branding of winterment is either been like minty green or white.
No, I can't be white.
Because I've seen the gum, you've seen the winter mint.
Nah, it can't be white.
Dev, tell them.
It can't be white.
Dev, have you chewed five gum?
Yeah, it's nasty.
It is kind of nasty, but you tell me what it feels like to chew five gum.
But it's green, though, right?
Like this.
But it's just icy.
But it's green.
Well, they have the two.
They have the blue and the green.
It's blue and winter and wintermen is blue and winter mint is green.
No, other way.
No.
Spear mint is green.
If I Google winter mint right now, what colors am I going to see?
No.
You're going to see probably blue.
Okay, I'm seeing like a, no, all right, I'm seeing kind of like a light green.
See?
Light green?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Winterment?
I'm seeing like some light greens.
Wow.
That's the brand.
I'm telling you.
What's Spearmint then?
Spearmint's probably blue.
Spearmint's got to be blue.
Blue is winter.
It's not going to be white.
It's going to be blue.
Blue is winter.
Listen, I know that we don't mean to get too political at the beginning of a show, but I think that
we're beginning of the show, brothers.
It's getting cut and put at the end.
We've got to get to this content.
There's no way to sustain.
We spent five minutes talking about this.
Well, let's bring it back.
Let's bring it back.
We've got some programming a module before we begin today.
It's a busy, busy week for everybody.
Tomorrow, button mash is going to be giving you their Donkey Kong Bonanza instant reactions.
I've been playing Bonanza.
It's been pretty great.
It looks like a ton of fun.
I'm not a 3D platformer guy, but it looks like so much fun.
And I'm almost like, man, I wish I was into this.
It looks like a great time.
Quick tangent, you collect little like gem bananas.
Yeah, yeah.
And every time you punch him and you collect him, it goes, banana.
Oh, he's a minion now.
Yeah, and then he eats the, yeah, pretty much.
That's how it goes.
Good for him.
And on Friday, the Mint Boys are going to be back and giving you their instant reactions to Fantastic Four First Steps.
A little sneak preview, jump me and I, we saw that last night, one word review of Fantastic Four First Steps.
Fantastic.
Fantastic. Ain't it fantastic?
What else?
I think it just ends after that.
There's no two letters.
There is? I don't think there is. I'm not sure.
I'll have to research that.
And today, for you guys, along with Mint Edition coming out, we've got a House of R
coming at you later today or tonight, whenever you choose to listen.
Listen to this and then go to the House of Our feed for their Hot Nolan summer Inception
Talk, Deep dive, talking about all things Inception.
You love Inception, right, Jome?
I'd be Incepting.
You know, it's crazy, too, because the first time I watched Inception, and this is going
to age me crazy.
But I watched it on my dad's Galaxy S2.
The phone?
The phone.
You watched Inception on a phone.
I watched Inception on, like, a 4x6 phone.
Wait, sorry.
Google, what was it, Samsung?
What?
It was so, it was 2000, what?
2000.
No, no, no, no, no.
got to see as 4 come out by 2013.
This is like 2011.
The phone came out
and the thing was, you can watch Inception.
We have Inception on the phone.
You watched Inception on this.
Yeah, dog.
That's nuts.
Yeah, dog.
And it was, brother.
As Nolan intended.
And I should have known that Chris Finola was that guy because that movie's
ripped on the tiny phone.
It went crazy on the tiny phone.
I can't imagine watching like highmacks.
Oh, it blew my mind.
Okay.
When Dom, when he's like, when the top is spinning and it cut to black and I'm sitting there in the back of the car like, whatever.
Were you driving somewhere?
What we like set the scene when you first inception?
I was.
How old were you at this point?
I'd be like 13.
Okay.
13, 14.
Very young.
Jomi's young.
Oh.
But yeah.
And just like I just watched.
I said, yo, can I get the phone?
And I watched inception.
I forget where we were going.
But it was awesome.
It was great.
amazing amazing well you could look forward to that and a bunch of Jomi stories on the house of our feed and on the ring of verse feed if they want to find out more about the ring of verse feed and the house of our feed where can they find us Jomey they can find us on twitter on instagram on facebook and on the YouTube at ring of verse guys I mean this whole episode is about ComicCon we're going to be doing so much stuff at comic con if you don't want to mess out if you want to feel like you're there even if you're not there
Make sure to follow because we will be active.
We're going to figure out one of our other secret YouTube comments for our Minty listeners to give out and give out.
So we're going to be thinking about that.
But today, on today's show, we've got a hype meter for you.
Comic Conrad's just around the corner.
Jome and I are going to be talking about all the things that we're looking forward to in this near week-long expedition down to San Diego.
I'm hopping on that Pacific Coastliner and I'm going to the world where you stay classy.
Right.
And we're going to talk about the things that we're excited for.
But before we do that, we went to Comic Con last year.
So we're going to talk a little bit about what we liked about Comic Con last year,
because it was the first time for me going.
I don't know about you.
That was my first time.
Your first time as well.
Jomey, you went to Comic Con last year.
What is, for somebody who never has been,
what is your advice and impressions about Comic Con in general?
My advice?
Shower and re-dodorant.
Yes.
That's what I would tell you.
Okay.
Because so.
It's not a, it smells crazy in their convention.
So here's thing, yeah, it's not that it smells, but there is potential to smell.
There's a lot of people.
Because there's a lot of people together in like a big, it's a big room, but it's still a lot of people.
And it gets hot very quickly.
Yes.
And even for me, who's somebody who like, as soon as there's a moniker of heat, I start sweating, I'm locked in.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
I got to stay ready.
So if I'm staying ready, you all stay ready.
But seriously, though, it's a great time.
I walked the floor for the first time.
And if I had like any serious advice, bring a bag.
Like, just have a bag on you.
Bring a bag.
And also bring a bag as in bring a lot of money because you'll be spending a lot of money.
Because I walk in the floor and I'm like, oh, man, this would be nice.
Like you want to buy gifts for, you know, the people in your life that you're like, you see something that reminds you with them or you're like, well, I want to take this home.
And then you have like three books, nine pins.
And all of it's for yourself because it's just cool shit you just saw.
But you're carrying it in your hands, right?
And it's like, no, this needs to go.
I need to put this somewhere.
I literally spent, like, I bought something for my brother and some other folks,
and I didn't have a bag.
I was just like carrying it like a plebion.
And I literally went to the Marvel spot.
And they were like, hey, if you buy $35 worth of merch, you get this free bag.
And I said, you know what?
That sounds like a great investment.
Yes.
And it's one of those bags that are like, imagine the biggest like vertical grocery bag you've ever had that can be made as a backpack.
But you got to remember, they usually give you a bag.
They give us a bag.
But a bunch of people.
just give out those same bags with their own.
Right, but I left mine at the hotel because I'm like, I'm not, I don't need a bag.
What do I need a bag for?
You absolutely need a bag.
So bring a bag.
If they give you one, absolutely make sure that you keep it.
And if you don't have one, make sure that you bring one because you will need it.
But obviously, I think, you know, the floor is great.
But the highlight for, I can speak for all of us, I think, was being in the Marvel panel
where they announced Dr. Doom to be Robert Downey Jr.
It was electric.
It was so crazy to be like in, you know, little pocket of, you know, comic book history was really, really cool.
And so, like, that's obviously the highlight because I can only speak for myself, but this is how much of a nerd I am when they split all the dooms and they walk him out.
I'm like, I know that walk.
I've been watching that walks is 2000.
There's no way in hell.
That's, bro.
Joe, he's on gatewalk for Robert Downing Jr.
Look, I've been like, bro, it's the same walk when he's in Avengers 2012, when he's threatening Loki and he's disassembling the suit and he's walking down the top of Stark Tower.
I know that walk.
I've seen that walk, brother.
Trust me.
Also, he's like 5'6 and everybody else was like 5'10 around him.
Respect my king is like 5'8.
All right.
Okay, don't do that.
Don't take two inches off my guy.
Okay.
Joey, he'll do that all by himself.
Hey, yo.
But no, I'm like, I'm like, they can't be him and it was him.
The old thing goes crazy.
You know, now we've got to see if it works or not.
But ultimately, I think that was a really big moment in comic movie history.
So to be there in that, like, to see that first was just incredible.
I'm really, really stunned when I first got to Comic-Con.
I knew that it was going to be big, but it genuinely does feel like a stepping point of a culture.
that we have been a part of not only just all of our lives,
but all of the time that we've been working here.
And to see not only so many people and events
and like Hollywood icons like grace this with like a lot of news,
but like you kind of feel the like not only like the commercial success
of what this big institution of a convention has become,
but all of the,
of these people come to find like commonality and cool like panels and amazing things that they can
connect on like in going through all of the things that I was excited for this year to see knowing
that there's going to be a bit more of a muted presence from Hollywood this year seeing all of
these panels that people are really going to be excited to go to there's like a lot of interesting
ways to connect about all of the things that like getting into the comic industry talking
about writing TV shows, talking about writing
and illustrating books, and talking about
films that people love and TV shows.
All of these things really feel like it's going to be
convulging into like this epicenter of
a lot of chaos. So yes, again, bring a bag, bring
sunscreen, bring deodorant, bring all the things
that you need because you're just going to be camping out
for a lot of great things during the day. It's going to be spending a lot of money.
It's going to be a lot of fun. But that also kind of leads me into
a bit of a question that I had because
We mentioned before that there's not going to be as big of a Hollywood presence.
There's no big MCU presentation in Hall H.
We don't have really that big of a DC-EU presence now, even though we're just off of the heels of Superman.
There's going to be a peacemaker panel, and James Gunn is going to be there as well.
But not a lot of big, big, big news coming down from the major players.
No Game of Thrones, no Star Wars.
Not really.
Not to say that there isn't things to be excited about.
as we get to.
But does this look like a bit more of a step back from Hollywood?
Is the IP era kind of starting to fold back a little bit?
And does that take away from anything for Comic-Con this year?
I mean, there's no way the IP machine has stopped.
There's so much game left.
I mean, a lot of the things we're going to talk about that are coming back for Comic-Con this year, our IP.
But I think you go crazy last year, right, with Marvel.
So it makes sense that they're not going to do too much, like, how much?
much can you really do when like the next movie coming out is brand new day.
We're working on Dooms Day. We're working on the big ones and we won't have something.
That's absolutely ready.
Right. Then I'm going to show us the brother. The previous is it was finished rendering.
Right. So there's not much on that front unless they want to like, hey guys, here's Wonder Man and Vision Quest.
You know what I'm saying? Like, I don't think that moves the needle for Marvel in particular.
But for everybody else, I want to say it's a down period, but people are kind of like re-figuring out what to do with these things.
You know, Star Wars, for example, they've got their own, they've got Star Wars celebration.
They don't need to come to Comic-Con every year.
Game of Thrones, HBO, you know, they're like, we're going to take this year off anyway.
Why are, there's nothing to, there's nothing to show, you know?
And so while, like, I wish I could see all my favorite stuff there, sometimes, you know,
it's nice to get a little, little break and like to look at the landscape and see that there's more stuff
than just the stuff that we're constantly talking about.
That this, you know, even though you can say like it's IP slot, whatever.
however you feel.
I don't feel that way,
but there's just so much in this universe
that is there to be watched and consumed.
So it's going to be nice to like,
you know,
dive into other stuff and go to other panels
and see other things that I might not have,
I might have missed if it wasn't that we had like the time to do so.
Yeah.
Don't know if you know this,
but Comic-Con used to be a comic book convention.
Used to be.
Used to be, brother.
They originated as such a thing.
And they might be doing a little bit more of that this year.
No, I would agree.
I think that there's going to be,
there's a bigger question about where,
like the superhero fatigue and the IP fatigue comes in
when the big cultural epicenters like Comic-Con place them
and where the likes of Disney and Warner Brothers put themselves
in the presence of that conversation
and like to churn out that hype,
to turn out that excitement for the things that are coming.
And not to say that that presence is gone,
but it's definitely dialed back.
And I don't think it diminishes at all
the amount of fun that you could have at Comic-Con
because there certainly is going to be ample opportunities
to see some cool new stuff from there.
But I'm a lot more interested in seeing nowadays
what we can experience from, I guess, smaller creators
from the comic side, what new TV is going to be happening?
There's a lot of smaller panels
that I'm actually kind of getting into
where we just have a lot of passionate people
talking about things that have already been out,
but these are cool and interesting takes
that I'm actually really looking forward to seeing.
People that are like-minded like us,
and they're going to be having a great time with that.
So with that, I think we can get into our hype moot here right about now.
So we're going to structure this a little like a collaborative pick.
This isn't going to be necessarily in a particular order or ranking,
but we have a couple of sections of things that we're definitely looking forward to
that we are going to be on the show floor for,
like in the moment, in the room where it happens.
So, Jomey, why don't we start off with the, what?
In the room where it happens.
That's a Hamilton reference.
Oh, wow.
Lauren is really rubbing off on you.
I didn't even mean to do that.
You did, but brother, brother, brother.
You changed.
So you need to, what I need you to do is that you need to fire off the emergency alarm
when I start referencing Hades Town and Beetlejuice the musical on accident.
And if I can't stop when I figure out when I do that,
then I'm in trouble.
Wow.
Both are great, though.
I've been told that they're both great.
Both are great.
I intend to see Beetleju's the musical at some point.
All right.
So, Jomey, why don't you take us through some of these beginning picks for us?
So we start with some of like the big hall-aged ones, at least for this year.
Yes.
Peacemaker, Alien Earth, and Tron Aries.
Now, Peacemaker is, I think, the biggest one because it's following off the hills of Superman.
Successful, depending on who you ask.
the successful release of Superman
the beginning of the DCU
and James Gunn has talked about
Peacemaker being a direct follow
like basically Superman ends
peacemaker begins and we're often running
into his universe and so
there's going to be I assume they're going to show
a good amount of promo stuff
from Peacemaker we might get some
Supergirl stuff you know
I think that's that's like the real
saucy teaser right the absolute
I mean lanterns is
done filming, you know what I mean?
Like, who knows what they could show there?
But obviously, off the success of Superman, this panel is going to mean something to the DCU.
And so obviously we're going to be there.
We're going to have the reactions and all that stuff.
Don't worry about it.
But I'm really excited to see what they say in that room because it's going to be fun.
I think that the vibes are going to be perfect for the peacemaker panel because not only was the success of,
Superman really putting the wind
in the sales of James Gunn Company
but Adam and light
spoilers here for
Superman the movie. He dies.
No! A peacemaker
cameo is probably one of the
bigger things that came out of
that movie. He showed up.
People went crazy.
Every single time I watched
the movie, that was the most consistent
laugh every time
was John Cena's showing up and everybody
went. And it's
And it's so crazy because I don't think that there has been this much goodwill behind Peacemaker since the end of the first season because, again, in hindsight, you don't really talk that much about the first season of Peacemaker.
We enjoyed it.
Right.
But it was kind of a thing that in a post-suicide squad from James Gun era, when he didn't have the job of head honcho at DC, that was just like, okay, this is a fun experiment that we're going to do after the fact, now this is the canonical successor to one of the biggest movie.
movies of the year. So this is going to be a very exciting panel, and I'm sure that, you know,
this will probably be the actual final bit of press that Gunn does post-Superman. So maybe he can rest
then and then get back to working on that stuff. So that'll be fun. Tron Aries. Let's talk about
Tron Ares. Tron Ares. So this is something that we've talked about since D23. If you guys have
been loyal listeners, you'll know that. We were at D23 and 9-inch Nails came out.
and stood there.
They did like a whole laser show.
Again, I feel like D23 is going to be like for the next, like it's been for the last two years,
but for like maybe the next year and a half, we're still going to be referencing that
because it's like the wildest thing that's ever happened to us that we're still going to be
like reckoning with.
Right, right.
But this, I mean, we've seen the trailer, you know, and so now we're going to go back to
a con and we're going to be in a big room.
And Trent Rezner is going to be popped up standing absolutely still.
Nine each day I was going to come back up.
No, we were obviously like, you know, intrigued by that little presentation.
But now that the movie is finally coming out, we've seen Jeff Bridges, you know, back.
I'm interested to see what this movie looks like and what they tell us in the panel, right?
Because I think we have a pretty good idea.
You know, usually you go into the game world.
Yeah.
Right.
But now the game world's coming out to us.
Yes.
And it's an interesting flip.
But what else could they tell us that we don't already know about this movie?
I think that's the most interesting thing to me.
What are the new things that they are going to reveal to us at that panel?
That's what I can't wait to find out.
I can't stress enough.
I don't think I have cared about a franchise more while not caring at all about the world than Tron.
And I mean that as a highest compliment because every single Tron movie that I've ever watched has just been about vibes.
and I've never really cared about the story.
And it's been fine.
I like Tron Legacy a whole lot,
even though it's kind of a mess
and it doesn't even really make sense
and nothing's really...
Don't think about it too much.
It's cool.
And we have a great time.
And Daft Punk's on the soundtrack.
And you can't be mad at any of this.
I think that, again,
my very sticky machinations about Jared Letto aside,
Tron Aries has an interesting opportunity
because we're very far removed from Legacy
and obviously they kind of want to spin off
and do a bit more of a new thing
from their perceived trilogy
that they wanted to make out of Tron Legacy.
This is kind of this interesting crossroads
to where I think Disney wants to keep this IP alive
but still not really ever knowing
what to do with it other than
keep things looking cool.
And if you bring back 9-inch Nails
to have a pretty killer song
and all of these light cycles
are in the real world
slicing cop cars in half.
I'm going to be excited.
It's kind of nuts, actually.
I'm looking at the cast right now.
And outside of Leto,
it's Greta Lee, Evan Peters,
Sasan Minaj, Jody Turner Smith,
Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan,
and Gillian Anderson
with Jeff Bridges coming back.
It's deep.
It's a deep roster.
If they have all of them out there,
that's going to be pretty cool.
If you keep Evan Peters getting pumped up,
like a Lex Luthor tech bro type, I'm in.
That's a deep roster.
I'm going to see what that looks like on stage and what they tell us.
Because remember, D23, everybody would come out and just wave and then go.
Yeah.
I cannot stress enough.
It was just a, like, a rotating door of, hey, celebrity, you're here to wave.
Tell us about the movie in 30 seconds or less.
30 seconds.
They have five words or less.
It's cool.
Great.
Awesome.
Get out of here.
It was freaky or Friday.
We're making Lilo Stitch 8.
Yeah.
You know?
And so if they get to like talk about what the movie might feel like their experiences with it,
then it'll be very, very, very, very, very, very worth it.
All right.
Let's go to Alien Earth.
Alien Earth.
So this one is super important.
Frankly, I would say the most important panel in all age this weekend because it is
moderated by none other than our very own Joanna Robinson.
Hell yeah.
So if you're in.
San Diego and you love
Joanna and you're not there. Do you
really love Joanna? Do you?
People are asking. People are asking.
If you love Joanna Robinson, now's a great
time to let her know. Right? Show up.
Support. Love.
Annie and Earth. So
we covered Alien
Romulus on this very podcast. Yes.
And we enjoyed it. We had a great time
watching the movie. I don't like
horror movies, but even I would admit
that that was like a ton of fun.
And while like kind of scary,
also just like a great movie.
I'm interested to see what Alien looks like on TV.
Because we've seen it work in movies, Alien, Aliens,
not Resurrection, all that much.
Prometheus, you know, people have their feelings about it.
It's a movie franchise.
It's a movie franchise that is now making its way to television.
How do they make it work?
How does Noah Hawley make this thing go in an episodic format?
That's the thing that's the most interesting to me.
So I'm sure Joe will ask him and, you know, acts a cast because she's the best.
But I'm really interested to see their answers in that because this is something we've never seen before from this franchise.
Yeah, I'm very intrigued to know that Noah Hawley is pretty much at the helm for this because he's worked on shows that have, if not, like the most critical acclaim, it's certainly something that has a bold enough vision to warrant your attention.
Big Legion gang.
Legion gang, Fargo gang.
Bones? Bones?
Bro, hey.
Bones.
First of all, you can rest your bones easy with bones.
That's an easy rewash every time.
I've watched so much bones, but not like actually because what happened is.
Because it's on.
It's just on.
It's on.
It's on T&T, right?
Yeah.
And I'll be like, man, there's a game tonight.
I'm going to turn on T&T.
And it's the last five minutes of bones.
And it's, I'm like, oh, it's, uh, Zoe Dachnell sister.
What's going on, man?
But like, so I've probably watched like three years worth of bones over like my whole life, but not actually watched a full episode of bones.
But no, Loa Hawley is a legitimate, legitimate star in the TV thing.
So that's why like I'm not, I understand why like the format works for him going to TV.
But just to see like, because this is a thing that happens in all of this IP stuff outside of HBO.
Right.
Once you take the MCU, the DCU, and you're like, okay, we're going to make them TV shows.
You cut the budget.
You don't get to do the crazy, you know, CGI stuff that you would like to do on TV.
Right.
Unless, again, you're doing dragon shows and then they're like, here's $3 billion.
You got to make the dragons look good.
Does it make sense for like the alien?
Are we going to see the aliens, right?
Are the aliens going to be an active part of the show to where they're everywhere?
like they would be in the movie because you have the budget for the movie, right?
Or is it going to be like you're playing alien isolation, right?
And you hear the alien, right?
It might be, you might hear it scurry in the corner and you're like, uh-oh, you can't
see the alien, but you know what's there?
You know what I'm saying?
Do they play with our minds like that?
I think that is something that I'm interested to see if they talk about on the panel.
But, you know, bring Alien TV, man.
It's a bold call.
So you couldn't have a better guy
To maybe make it work
But I'm interested to see how they try to spin it
To see how it goes
Timothy Oliphant's got blonde highlights
And I hear that he's playing an android
They've got Joe on the stage
With Timile Goli Oliphon?
No one is safe
No man, this is cinema
You gotta be there
Yeah
You gotta be there
No no, it's gonna be incredible
Yeah, I'm very excited for this
Mainly because I think that
It's very much hyped to know that
man, do you remember a time before there were Star Wars TV shows?
And I remember when I was like nine or ten years old and they're like, they're going to make a Star Wars TV show.
Can you believe that?
Like, what is that even going to be?
What's that going to look like?
And I think that that's, that hype has almost been longer in the tooth for an alien TV show.
Because everybody's kind of wanted to crack at that IP to be put on TV.
And now that it's finally here and we have a guy like,
Noah Hawley making this, I am very intrigued to see
what is in his purview for
the story that he wants to make about an alien first coming to Earth
because it's been quite a while in the alien IP
to know that when aliens came to Earth, that would be
a thing like that. So I'm pretty
stoked about this. So can I go with one of my Hall H.
picks that is, it's a tad personal, but I think that you and I
both need to go to this. What?
that's Coyote versus Acme in all age 10 a.m. baby.
You didn't know about this until I said it right before we started recording.
So our Saturday is spoken for because that's all day, baby.
Oh, no, hold on.
Last year I spent all day in Hall H from the Star Trek panel from like noon till like 9 o'clock.
Right. It's not what you want, Big Dog.
I promise you it's not what you want.
You got to figure it out, bro.
You got to, there's no water in there, bro.
You know what I'm saying?
There's no air.
Yeah.
You're dying here.
To all Hall H attendees, bring water and maybe a snack.
Maybe a snack.
Get a meal.
Go to Jack and a box.
Door dash something.
Door dash something.
It was good.
I was in there for nine hours, guys.
Sit there for nine hours.
Lock.
It was tough.
In.
It was tough.
Because they will probably lock you in.
Coyote versus Acme, though, that's what's so.
No, I'm like, this is actually kind of thrilling to me to know that this movie is coming back.
And we have the.
cast and filmmakers
pretty much reunited
to celebrate not only
the reception and enthusiasm
that fans brought this movie
back to life, but this has since been
acquired by Catchup Entertainment, the people that
distributed the recent Daffy Duck and Porky
Pig movie that we saw this year.
That was really, really good.
I think this is a perfect home for this movie,
and for a long
time, I was really
upset about the idea of, regardless of
a movie's quality, same thing that
with Batgirl that the WB just decided to ax this project, write it off as a tax write-off,
and never let the world see it. And that is a gigantic bummer. And to know that not only public
outcry, but I'm sure, like, a lot of savvy, that led to a lot of savvy business decisions
on the part of catch-up to acquire this movie, to distribute it back, this is more or less
just going to be a celebration of the fact that we kind of saved a movie. And not only that it could be
fun and enjoyable for people, but
to know that it's not going to be lost.
And I'm really stoked about that.
I am in the same boat.
I was really sad that this movie wasn't going to come out.
I love Will Forte.
McGruber.
That's my guy.
And so when...
No, we don't talk enough about
about McGruber as a society.
Well, because they did the show on Peacock
and nobody watched it.
And the movie.
I watched the movie.
The show did not move people.
We got another third here.
The show did not move.
people, but that's okay. I still love it.
Any whom, yeah, no, you want
things like this to be successful because
what you want is
original ideas, even though like, you know,
Looney Tunes have been around since God knows when,
but things like this, like things like
the day the earth ended, right?
Yeah. Content like that
deserves a spot in the zeitgeist.
And so for this movie to just get shelved
because they're like, I'd cost too much to market.
Yeah, or we're not going to make enough returns or whatever.
It's so, so silly.
So the fact that we are getting it just means a lot to me.
And so I will obviously be there to support.
I'm crazy excited for this.
All right.
So are we good to move on from Hall H?
Is that, were those the big offerings?
We got a couple more, I think, for me, Star Trek.
Listen, so here's the problem, right?
It's like The Godfather 3.
Every time I think I'm out, they pull me back in.
Pull me back in.
Right?
Because I'm looking at the description.
for the panel, right?
Star Trek universe.
And they're telling me that obviously
they're going to talk about Star Trek Academy.
They're going to talk about, obviously, Star Trek, Strange New Worlds,
which just came back.
And they're going to talk about the new upcoming series,
Star Trek, Star for the Academy, right?
Then it says, plus exclusive first looks,
reveals, and surprises.
And your exact words,
when we were walking through that is
you're not going to get me.
But they might get me though.
They might get you.
What if they come back and they're like, just kidding, guys,
Star Trek Lower Deck Season 6.
That's not happening.
Or, yo, prodigy, guess what?
You can't put that out in the air
because you're just setting yourself up for discipline.
But the hope, it's the hope.
Then why say the reveals that surprises?
Don't reveal nothing.
Don't surprise me with nothing.
What's going to be the...
I only have so much love to give, Steve.
What is...
I only have so much.
Okay.
Biggest news that can come out of it that you absolutely lose your mind to.
Lower Dex new season?
Lower Decks new season.
Lower Decks new season.
Like that would change my life.
That would feed families.
That would make me a better man.
Okay.
That would make you a better man?
That would make me a better man.
That makes you, okay.
So what are you going to do if you know that there's a new season of Lower Dex?
Are you going to, like, what family members do you call?
Oh, man.
Do you send money to?
First, you know what I'm saying?
I called a family telling me made it.
Right.
Call a family.
Hey, man.
mom you can retire daddy you can retire man we made it i'm not getting paid for this by the way
this is just this is just absolutely no no but no i mean obviously like you know when you there's that
monochrome of hope you know that's just a monochrome modicum hope it probably definitely won't happen
but you know you never you never you never you know what i mean um and then there is the
predator badlands panel yeah and all age and that's cool because we talked about predator killer of
killers. That was awesome. So we might be on like a little Predator Renaissance. So yeah, Tractonberg's
on a heater right now with what he has for the Predator universe. I'm genuinely surprised that
this might not like I hope that Badlands A is successful and B kind of cements Tractonberg as
I like the idea of like this niche franchise figurehead to point in the creative direction of the
entire franchise.
Not to say he's the be all end all and he needs to direct all movies, but he's directed
seemingly one great one and another really great one.
And now with Badlands, we kind of want to be like, okay, so if you really want to blow this out
and get, you know, what we would kind of want to see, which is the Alien versus Predator IP
back, can he be the one to do it?
Can he be the one to not only get us there, but make Predator like the cool IP that we know
it to be from all of these comics
and movies and
IP of the past. This is kind of
something that's going to be
in the back of my mind. This could be like the next
Planet of the Apes for me.
There's a cool action
franchise that I really, really admire
and respect that nobody really talks
about that much.
I think you're right on the month. I think
Tractonberg has
shown that he knows his way around
this predator universe.
Almost an alien. Brother. Oh, dude.
Okay. I just did it right now.
What if at the end of Predator Badlands and at the end of Alien Earth,
it's like the predator shows up and Alien Earth and the aliens show up in Predator Badlands.
I'm cooking right now. Alien versus Predator 3, baby. Come on. Lock me in.
Come on. Again, there's a lot of places that this can go.
Let's do it. Because we already know that there's that Badlands has a Waylon Utani robot in El Fanning.
That's going to be basically helping out the protagonist.
predator, I feel like she's going to portray him in some way, and that's going to be super
awesome, and then want to be like, get him into the lab, make him an alien, I don't know.
You see the vision, bro.
Let's make it happen.
We do.
Let's make it happen.
All right.
What else are you looking forward to?
Non-H-age stuff.
Non-H-stuff.
These are the things that you can go to the side.
Like, again, we were combing the schedule for Comic-Con.
There's a trillion things to do here.
Yeah, you could literally not sleep.
If you woke up at 7 a.m.
and went to bed at 6.30 a.m. the next morning.
You'd be doing stuff.
You'd be doing stuff.
Like, you could find your whole weekend.
Yes.
You can find your whole weekend together.
But some non-haul-A stuff, I'm doing it again, bro.
Every time they take me out, I go back in.
The Dragon Prince, the next arc.
Okay, so this is a show that ended.
Oh, God.
This is a show that ended.
Brother, I was there.
I don't know what this means.
I don't know what this means.
I don't know what the next arc means.
Is Netflix giving it?
Is this like a reboot?
Is this a brand new show?
No, no, no.
It's, I don't know.
That's what I'm saying.
I don't know.
Because so here's what, so here's what my like thinking is, right?
My high, my highest the hopes is that Netflix is like, yo, we're running it back, baby.
Okay, new season.
New, like, like we're, the adventure continues.
Like, let's go, man.
Like, y'all got it.
Here you go.
Season eight, season nine, since 10.
Right.
Making it happen.
What's more likely going to happen is that the product.
to get announced like a comic or like a video game.
I don't know, man.
You know, and it's going to be like, hey, yo, guys, here's the, here's the comics,
you know, but I'm going to go because I want to know, right, because they've got
Jack DeSenna and Dante Bosco, they're going to be there.
Oh, it's got to be a new show.
It's got to be a new show.
No, but they're already there, right?
For another panel, what I'll talk about, like, next, but they're already there.
You might as well just like, hey, yo, cop over to this ballroom and tell the people that
they're getting a comic in the joint.
You know, I think that's probably the most likely thing because the Dragon Prince.
I remember when it took like the hiatus between seasons three and four, there was a lot of comic stuff and a lot of stuff.
Mm-hmm.
And a lot of stuff.
Yeah, big gap.
But there was a lot of content that they made.
So I think that's ultimately how they're going to continue it because if they were like, hey, man, we're coming back.
New show baby lock in.
That would be through the, I'd be through the moon.
But you, as we talked about with Star Trek, good things don't happen.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
All right.
I'm going to go of mine.
This one is in Ballroom 20.
Oh, yeah?
Gen V's sophomore year.
Oh.
Gen V's back.
Yeah.
And we've got the returning cast.
And they're going to be showing off new footage from season two talking about little
Easter eggs and doodads about that.
I'm really looking forward to season two of Gen V.
I think this is going to be a...
In some cases, like, GenV was better than a lot of
seasons of the boys. I'm not going to say all, but I'm going to say it's like,
I would say that, I wouldn't say that it's better than some season of the boys. I would say
that Gen Vee season one is up there with some of the best seasons. Yes, that is, that's the right
phrase. Yeah. That's better potting. Thank you, Jumby. But no, this is going to be great. I'm
really, really looking forward to seeing what surprises come from this. I want to know what the arc
that comes after this like really critically acclaimed for season came from. Yeah. So,
sophomore year, Gen V. That's going to be really, really good.
I'm excited for that panel as well.
I think we hyped up season one a lot.
And again, we really think it's really, really good.
And I don't know if they're doing another one after this because this is going to be
the last season of the boys coming up next year.
And so I don't know where this universe like goes after the boys is over.
But if this is indeed the last season of Gen V, then I'm ready and rocking and go because I
had so much fun the first time.
So I can't wait to see it this panel.
Another one, there's actually going to be a lot of, like, TV screenings that go on.
It, welcome to Dairy.
It's going to be sneak peek previewing its first episode.
Dairy Girls is back, baby.
Yeah, Dairy Girls.
We're going back, baby.
Come on, Orla, where you at?
Come on, James.
Welcome to Dairy Girls.
Listen, I'd watch that 10 times out of 10.
Dairy Girls in It.
Let me tell you something.
Aaron is not getting into that.
Damn.
She's not coming down there.
No.
Aaron versus Pennywise.
First of, Michelle would kill Pennywise.
You think so?
Yeah, absolutely.
Okay.
Michelle, she's not, nah, hell, nah.
Pennywise do not want it with my dairy girls.
No, sir.
No, sir.
This is Stephen King, though.
It's not the same thing.
No, it's not really.
No, I'm looking forward to the new It show because, like,
the first episode is directed by Anthony Machete.
Yes, director of it, but also director of it part one, which I loved.
Right.
I'm only cautious as to what the IPification
of Stephen King shows
happens to be without somebody
like a Mike Flanagan
or somebody that's like really, really
tapped into
what that Stephen King lore is.
I recently, I told you about when I saw
the movie The Monkey this year
and that's a Stephen King story.
And sometimes directors just
get Stephen King.
They kind of get like
the either the humor, the perversity
of the story, or
the sort of like surrealism.
that can only come from his mind
and I think Machete
gets it and I'm just curious to know
if this is going to be like a Castle Rock situation
where it's going to be a bit of a mashup
of all of the Stephen King IP
or if this is going to be a straight up
this is Penny Wise's adventures in Dairy.
You see the same Andy Machete who directed the flesh?
This is the same Anthony Machete who directed the flesh.
Interesting. Okay, I just wanted to put that on the record.
Hey, hey, a lot of our goats have been in Duds, okay?
We're not going to start that.
I'm just saying. I'm just saying.
Not going to start that.
Okay.
All right.
Another one that I was looking forward to.
And this is just for me.
Just, just for me.
70 years of Godzilla.
It's a celebration of all things,
Kaiju, and my big beautiful son, Godzilla.
I'm an irrationally big fan of that.
I don't know why.
I just love him.
I just love him so much.
And I recently was rewatching a lot of the Shoa era.
And they're going to be kind of like celebrating a lot of things
that came out in these past few years.
but with minus one recently being here
and then the sequels of that being very soon
that's something I'm really really
really looking forward to anything random
that you're going to be looking forward to
not exactly random but
they're going to have Nickelodeon's avatar
the last Airbender 20th anniversary panel
yeah and you know I did the video
on you know the 20 best episodes
and obviously something that meant something
to me was the first thing I ever wrote for the ringer.com
was how like awesome avatar
was and so I would love to be there
and like see these people and you know have have them talk yell at me about how much the show meant for them as well you know because it's a show that you know changed my life in ways i know i always say that about stuff but it was a really really really really really really important show to me so i got a follow-up for that for you what
merch nation avatar the last air benders toys games action figures and more i only have so much money and guess what you're spending it on i only have so much money i have to be responsible do you not do you not think of anything that you're going to spend money do you have a plan for
spending money on the floor.
No, that's the problem.
Make the plan.
Make the plan right now.
That's the problem.
I'm going to get there.
I'm getting on the floor.
And you're going to be cooked.
And I'm going to be like, yo, I'm just spent a band.
I'm just going to go.
Let me get one of them.
Only a band.
Again, I cannot stress to you enough listeners.
You're going to spend all of your money at Com.
I'm just like, bro, let me just lock me in, man.
What else would you all need?
I'm a beat here.
I'm a beat here.
No, but that panel in particular, I've, like, it's 10 a.
I think on Thursday, but I got to, I got to make it work because.
it's a show that meant, that means so much.
And they better not go to there and be like,
yo, we got another surprise.
Season five, baby, we're back.
Okay.
Yeah, don't do that to me.
Well, I mean, it would be nice to get updates on the animated movies that they're doing.
Well, yes, except that none of these people are in those movies.
I understand.
So I don't think it would come from them.
If Breit is there and they want to talk about it, that'd be awesome.
But, no, just to be able to, like, be in the same room with the cast and
you know, it just, that would be awesome.
So I'll definitely try to make it out.
And the last one, and this is like not super silly,
but I feel like it is kind of silly.
The Marvel Rivals panel for the,
for the hero creation from concept to showcase.
Okay, I saw that.
So here's the thing, right?
Right.
They need a Q&A section because I'd be like,
hey guys.
What's with all this ass?
Brother, I'm not complaining about no ass.
That's the one thing I'm not going to complain about this old ass.
Because they got, bro, they got Loki showing shlong, bro.
Yeah, they do.
It's a gooner.
game. It's a gooner game. No, no, it absolutely is a gooner game.
Nah, man. Don't do that.
Absolutely is a guru. Bro, brother, there are...
Did you see that Venomized Squirrel Girl? Are you kidding me?
No, there are gotcha games that are way worse, bro.
Like, we have to start, like... I'm not saying which is worse. I'm just...
I'm just... No, no, no, no, no, no. I wouldn't say a gooner game yet.
No, it's good. No, no, no, no. Let's not do that. We've seen the summer... We've seen
the summer costumes. Brother, brother, brother. There are actual guna games.
Like, we got to fight with the real battles. There are actual games that are just
explicitly for the gune.
I would say that this is probably the most high
profile Gooner game.
I wouldn't even say that.
I would say it's a step below.
It's like you have hentai,
then you have etchy, right?
Oh, oh.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I'm unfamiliar with your game, Jomey.
It's not hentai yet.
We get, we get into.
We get, it's like.
What's the dogenchi, like,
that's what I'm saying?
I feel like Marvel rivals,
you can still watch that on country roll.
You know what I'm saying?
It's, it's in there.
You know what I'm saying?
You can still watch it on.
Crunchyroll, you can't watch like Honey Pop or whatever the hell that they be doing over there.
I don't even know what you're saying right now, man.
You're saying about the word.
No, I don't know that.
Bro, you was not watching Dashie back in the day, bro.
No, I was not.
But now, chill out.
But they need Q&A because I got to ask them like, yo, when is my man, Moonnight going
get some buffs, you know, like when are they going to buff Moonnight?
And when they're going to eliminate Squirrel Girl?
First of all, Moon Knight needed to be Nerfed.
He does need to be Nerf.
He got a buff.
He hasn't got an update in like three seasons, bro.
Like they slowed his alt down.
They increased the space and that was it.
They haven't touched him since like season two or 1.5.
Like it's been a minute.
Well, they got to rebalance with a lot of other people.
Right.
Like he's in the queue.
Yeah, everything is all right, cool.
Man, that was crazy that Hela is overpowered and now Storm is overpowered and now
human torture is overpowered.
Cool.
Let's buff Squirrel Girl and buff Spider-Man.
That's it.
Good.
That's what they'd be doing.
Like, come on now.
You know what I'm saying?
Do you see the new team up with Human Torch and The Thing?
No, what was that?
He can pick now, it's called First Steps.
Oh, nice.
He can pick up, Humaturch.
Oh, and drop them?
Nice.
That's great.
That's cheating, bro.
No, that's cinema.
That's great.
Moon, not is that the same freaking janky team of,
a cloak and daggers at the beginning of the game?
No, that's really, really fun.
Fuck me up.
I love that.
Give me one with the Phoenix.
So, because we both talk to gods where I can fly, throw Flamishers.
What are we doing?
Come on, Moon Knight.
I know, I know y'all listening.
I'm going to go to the panel.
I'm going to have a big sign.
You're going to look forward to Joe me crashing out in front of the Marvel
rivals devs.
Buff,
Moon Knight.
He also needs to be swalled, too.
The whole thing, no.
But, no, I think, I think that panel could be fun.
I don't think I'm going to, you know, obviously yell at them.
That's crazy.
Like, you know, to be respectful.
Yeah, of course.
But that should be, that should be following.
I love that game.
I've having fun playing.
You know, I mean, you don't know this.
You ever play with us in a minute.
But, you know, I'm a Lord Moon Knight.
So, you know, no love for that.
You see what I got to do with?
I see what I got to deal with on a day-to-day basis.
Okay, so.
I flex my achievement.
Hold on, hold on.
Okay.
I flex my achievement.
I can get no love, no support.
Okay.
That's crazy.
Damn, that's crazy.
When you get the, when you get that?
Racism.
Wow.
Racism.
Wow.
That's what it is.
I didn't expect this.
Racism.
Oh, HR.
Yo, talk to your boy, dog.
I didn't.
Okay, so let me know when you get your touch grass icon.
I do.
I do.
My, bro, I've been had it.
Okay, I've been outside.
Don't do that.
Don't do that.
The game came out in, like, what, December?
We've been Gooned it ever since.
I got it.
You, it's not a Gooner game, bro.
It's a Gooner game.
They just be having schlong out.
That's different.
It's not the same.
I gotta say, there's been a lot of schlong talk on this pod today.
That's been a lot of shlong.
I mean, Loki is showing dong.
Loki is showing dong.
It's okay to show dong.
We should show more dong.
I, well, I don't think, I don't think we need it as a society.
This is the wrong pod for that.
Yeah, I don't.
This isn't the pod for that.
Bring that on higher learning.
This is not the dong pot.
Yeah, no.
It's not the dong pod.
Look forward to Mint Edition's dog pod later in the summer.
Dong hype meter over here.
That's a different pot.
Oh, man.
So the dogs of Comic Con are...
We'll be right back.

Steamy romances, irresistible love stories, and the book to screen favorites you've already read twice.
Off campus, L. every year after, the love hypothesis, Sterling Point, and more.
Slow burns, second chances, chemistry you can feel through the screen.
Your next obsession is waiting.
Watch only on Prime.
This episode is brought to you by Nass Energy.
Every ounce of dirt, sweat, and gears, every checkered flag and trophy raised, every lap, every race, every hard-fought place.
They're all jammed inside every can of Nass energy, high-performance energy for burning the midnight oil in the garage, and pedal to the metal human horsepower for the streets.
Go ahead.
Crack open a can of Nass energy and get after it.
All right, rapid fire.
I've got a couple more for you that I'm going to say some of these panels.
I'm going to see if they catch your ear.
Go for it.
Celebrating 75 years of peanuts.
Yo, I'd be tapped in.
To peanuts?
Hell yeah.
Thank you.
What do you have against a Snoopy?
It's not, I don't have none of that's stupid.
I love Snoopy.
Shout out my boy, Eric.
You want to hear about the?
Yeah.
I love Snoopy.
I love Snoopy.
Yeah.
Well, you don't like holiday specials?
Yeah.
They had my man Franklin on a side by himself.
Yo, yo, yeah, yeah, yo.
They had Franklin all by himself.
They did, but Franklin had to open the door so that we could have all the other black.
Wow.
Franklin gave us static shot.
There you guys.
Franklin gave us Miles Morales.
Show us the line from Franklin to static shot.
Jet Jackson.
Exactly.
Franklin to that's so raving, guys.
Come on, man.
Big Penn was paving the way for stinky boys.
Jesus Christ.
Not at Comic Con though.
We already set up top.
We already set the shower.
Radioorant.
Right?
No, I'm serious.
Aluminum.
Use them antiperspirus.
Yeah.
You need both.
You need both.
There's some, like, really cool.
activations that go down. I know
Appetalamentry's got one. Yes. They did one
for D23. I think there's
an Alien Earth one as well. There actually
is. We will be checking that one out
as well. Right, right, right. So there's a ton of
cool stuff to do. Here's one I think I'll hook you on.
Spider-Man, the animated series
30th anniversary. Going to get previews
for the
upcoming comic run. Right.
As well as cast members and creators
talking about that season and more.
Anything? Doing that anything for you?
That sounds interesting, actually.
It's so interesting because that's a show that deserve to get a full wrap-up.
You know, because when we talk about it, we talk about shows like Batman, the Animity Series,
Justice League Unlimited for DC.
Like, that's X-Men 97, really, and that Spider-Man show, that kind of lead the way for Marvel animation.
So the fact that they, you know, X-Men 97 got a reboot, but that Spider-Man show didn't see, it's tough.
But they get it ended on their terms.
Well, sure they'd like a show, but.
They get to end it in a way that they feel that is worth it.
So that could be cool.
Absolutely.
All right.
Last thing that I'm going to say, and we could wrap on this one.
Marvel, DC, or Star Wars, who's winning IP in 2025?
It's the Ringerverse panel, everybody.
Yeah.
That's right.
Ringerverse.
Having it on Thursday, July 24th.
Everybody should be there.
Grand 10 and 11 at the Marriott Marquis in San Diego.
Dude, I'm so excited.
It's going to be really fun.
We're going to make this a pod.
We're going to make this a little video for you guys to see if you guys aren't going to be there.
But for the people that are a badge attendees.
Come through.
Come on through.
It's free to attend.
Absolutely.
And we're going to have a meetup at Whiskey Girl after.
That's right.
Check it out.
We'll be posting it all over social.

You don't need a badge to come.
No badge for that one.
We'll all be there.

Exactly.

white vision.
Nothing but.
