Steve, the architect,
all the builder.
It's more about that lady.
I don't play definitely into support.
We are.
Jomi, the explainer at our dinner on you've got questions.
He's got answers.
We are, old man, Van.
He of the receding resurgent hairline.
We are.
Coke baby Chuck, 24-carric closer,
aka brunch haughty.
Together, we.
We are known as other midnight boys.

And supporting Jomi means giving us a follow.
Jomi comes over to the house.
Me and Steve are watching stuff,
eating cookies.
as we do.
And all of a sudden,
Jomi's got,
I gotta go make a video.
No.
I say,
hey guys,
do you want to,
do you want to do this TikTok
with me?
You're like,
nah,
not in,
not in particular,
no.
Like,
can be asking
in the middle
of a nice Sunday
when they relax in,
be like,
hey, y'all want to do TikTok?
Nah,
that's,
so then why do I got to do it?
Why do I got to do it?
Because it's your job.
That's your job.
By the way,
speaking of that,
one time that Jomi
asked us to,
to do a TikTok
with him was when we were watching House of the Dragon
featuring one of the greatest scenes of Game of Thrones history
with Patty Constantine, Constantine,
who did not get nominated.
Oh, my.
It's a Golden Globe.
It's a Golden Globe.
We can, man, right, right.
If there's an Emmy, I, man.
We'll talk Emmy time.
We'll talk Emmy time.
Yeah.
Okay, now.
Oh, you'll bug you, Brad.
Piss me off.
Shut up, Charles.
All right.
Programming.
This Friday, the House of R
will be giving you a special
Rinterverse recommends episode.
It says Renniverse.
Steve missed the G.
Oh, no, hold on.
Hold on.
Jeremy Renner has a lot of films and movies
to go on.
All recommends on the Renner app.
Is the town the number one
Rennerverse movie?
So let's real quick.
We got, we have to take,
the Rennerverse.
Because we've done this,
we have to take a minute on it.
Rape the Rineiverse.
What are the best movies?
Okay, hold on.
Jeremy Renner movies
that we'll pull it up right now.
Wow.
Well, the town's up there.
Hurt Locker.
Hurt Locker's up there.
Has it?
Has the Hurt Locker?
I haven't seen it in a while.
I haven't seen it in a while.
A hurt locker.
Oh, shit.
Arrival.
Arrival is one of my favorite.
Oh, American Hustle?
American Hustle is good.
The Rennervers is cooking.
Mission Impossible.
Did anybody see his born legacy movie?
It's not great
I have not
Yeah, you can't
That's not
That's not
I'm gonna make the cut
Yeah, it's not
All right
What about his vision
Impossible run
Those are good
Those are the call is good
Rognation is excellent
Ghost protocol is pretty good
Does it
Does it does
Does does
Does in game count
As part of being part
of the Rinterverse
I mean sure
But like
It's not really
Redder
It's not Render heavy
Yeah
He has a pretty big role
And whoa whoa
So guy
We forget about his best
We forget about SWAT
Oh
Swatts good.
I'm not going to lie.
Jeremy Riddell and Gretel thing was pretty good.
His filmography is a lot better than I thought it was.
Jeremy, oh, oh, one of my favorite movies.
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Cowler Robert Ford.
That's a crazy underrated movie.
That one of my favorite movies.
The Rinnorverse is actually cooking.
He's got so.
He got some.
The Ritterverse is doing this thing.
Tag.
All right.
New pod coming.
The Renderverse.
Tag is fun.
I never saw that.
So that's actually
the Ring of Versa recommends episode
that the House of R will be giving you
a very special episode on Friday.
And next Wednesday
is a special presentation
of the Verses.
The Verses.
We're going to dress up.
The Verses are going to be virtual again this year,
but one day,
there's going to be a time
we're going to all get together.
Bolesman's going to be there.
Everybody's going to be there,
and we're going to dress up
and do the Verses.
But it's not quite.
Yeah, we don't want a Will Smith,
Chris Rockwood.
Don't make me go.
going to,
who's going to slap who, Charles?
Oh,
I ain't
bang.
Charles going to slap.
Who gets slapped?
Who does the slapping?
No,
maybe going out of the room
and get to break something out for y'all.
On today's show,
it's the long-awaited
midnight meter redo,
which we are calling
the long-awaited,
the anticipated,
the debated,
sometimes could be the most hated
Midnalligans.
Today we'll be performing an audit on the Midnight meter,
our 1 to 12 scale rating our favorite stuff across fandom.
We are going to re-rate and give, dare I say,
the definitive ratings on all of the shows
we've given scores to in the past year and a little bit
and giving a few explanations and discussions
about how we feel about them with a little bit of hindsight.
Okay.
Are we ready for this?
Everybody always talks about the fact that Van can't stick to a rating,
that Van always changes his mind.
There's going to be a couple of people not sticking to ratings on this one.
I want all the Midnight Boys to pledge right now.
we're being serious.
These are our last midnight rankings
until next year.
I don't want y'all to fucking lie, okay?
We've had a lot of conversations.
We got to be truthful.
Y'all can't be like, well, you know,
did it die?
No. Talk your shit.
We've been saying we're going to re-rank these all you.
Nobody is lying.
I don't know.
That's rich coming from you.
For me?
Oh, yeah.
Because y'all see, I never lie.
Wow.
That's rich coming from you.
That's all I can say.
Hey, hey, y'all saw what D.C.
was trying to do to the Rock.
He let out, he opened the books.
What other star would open up the books for us to show us?
Jesus Christ.
Yeah.
Okay.
Let's start off.
With the reason why we're here.
With the reason why we're here.
The Matrix Resurrection, the movie that actually came out in 2021.
It stars Carrie Ann Moss.
Keanu Reeves and others.
It is an updating
a legacy sequel
to the Matrix franchise
that sees Neo and Trinity
reunite
in a new version of the Matrix
with a new phone.
When the movie first came out,
Steve, give us the scores.
All right. Fun fact,
this was one of our
earlier episodes
Joanna joined us
for this ranking
so the scores are a bit
skewed
so our midnight meter
rankings are
Joanna gave this a six
Charles gave it a four
and Van
gave it a two
do you mean I don't have
scores registered
but we can register them now
Van let's have you
start the floor here
all right here's the thing
really quick really quick
for Jomey and I's
peace of mind
Jomey
Like, how much are we cap in the fucking Matrix Resurrection's, Doc?
It's 100% cap.
I know Steve won't play the music because he's got an agenda.
No, no, no.
This isn't to stop the cap, but like, what's our time limit here?
What's our time limit here?
30 minutes of action.
30 minutes?
Oh, man, 60 seconds, bro.
I can't do this.
I can't fight for this.
Okay, come on.
I've been fired for my life.
Give it a Matrix Minute on why.
High Matrix Minute.
Okay.
are, I mean, now that we've dispensed with the pleasure
trees, are we ready to go?
Yeah, we're ready to go.
Let's go.
Cook.
Who's going first?
Ben.
Van.
So are you, man.
I'm going first right now.
Yeah.
I'm giving it an eight.
Oh, my.
Oh, my God.
Oh, my God.
Cancel up.
So the greatest, with the biggest differential already that, that is possible.
So let me tell you guys.
From a two to an eight.
So can I get my shit off real quick?
Go on, go on.
Okay, okay.
So let me tell you, let me tell you about the Matrix.
I've watched the movie a bunch of times.
Like many, many times.
I've watched the movie a bunch of times.
Let me tell you why I was so down on the Matrix Reserations.
It's because I was expecting a continuation of the last franchise
or something more akin to it.
And what they did was a reimagining of the franchise.
I went in with unfair expectations of the movie
and with not a solid handle on the lore.
So here's the deal.
I didn't understand the movie to the point
to where I did something that Jomey says you shouldn't have to do.
And I'm not saying that Jomey's wrong.
I invested into the lore of the Matrix.
Steve, a lot of people think on this podcast right now I'm making this up.
Did I not call you at several different times and talk about how I'm learning more about the actual lore of the Matrix?
I watched all the Matrix properties.
I literally committed.
You did YouTube dives.
YouTube dives.
Book drives.
We had.
We had multiple hour conversations on the phone about digging into Matrix lore and the story that came with it, both before and after, Resurrections came out.
And it changed my opinion of the movie.
I don't know if that's supposed to be a thing.
I know Jummy hates that.
But when I go back and I watch the movie now with a firmer grasp on what's actually happening in the movie and what it's challenging and what it's dealing with,
I like the movie more.
I watch,
if Colliecoe were here,
I watch the movie all the time.
I really do.
It's,
I,
I keep thinking that there's this like weird
post good safe space
that the Matrix occupies where
like after the first movie,
like diminishing returns or whatever
if you don't like Reloaded or revolutions
or even resurrections.
The lore of this world is,
kind of what keeps me enjoying it as an entire piece.
I really, really do.
You could say it's a bad movie.
You could say that you don't even like it.
I just love this world.
And I love the stories that it is even attempting to tell.
Regardless of what other people think about what, like, they get out of resurrections,
Van and I get quite a bit out of it after we sink our teeth in like this.
That being said, if I could give my score, I would personally,
give this like a seven.
Okay.
Some disgusting line going on.
There's some disgusting line going on,
brad.
If I went to a movie
that was terrible
and I said,
if I went to a Marvel,
if I went into Iron Man 2,
if I went into
the Incredible Hulk,
I was like,
man,
these are bad movies.
But the lore of talk,
the lore of Iron Man
keeps me engaged, man.
Y'all would be here,
talk,
y'all would talk me like I was crazy.
Like I was insane.
That's nuts.
You should have to.
They're going on YouTube deep dives for eight hours.
I'm not three hour conversations about shit that don't make sense.
You're tricking yourself.
It don't make sense.
It's okay that it don't make sense.
It's fine.
It ain't got to make sense.
It's a bad movie.
Come on,
it's all it that, bro.
It eight,
a seven.
Look,
my time is coming.
I know.
I'm ready.
I'm prepared.
Okay.
This is nuts.
You're tricking yourselves.
It's a lot of cap.
It's a lot of lying.
It alive.
Is that we feel?
That's how we feel.
Man, y'all fucking up the shit off top.
So, Jome, tell me how you feel.
8 in the 70s is egregious.
8 to 7 is crazy.
Give me it then.
Have you seen it since?
Have you seen it since?
Why would I do that to myself?
By the way, I got to be honest with you.
It's unfair that I don't get to like a movie.
You guys are making me feel so down about myself.
Don't even.
Nah, man.
Don't eat.
That's what we got.
What?
Steve, you fucking turn, cold?
No.
You're supposed to be on my side.
I'm telling you right now, you're never letting Charles hurt your feelings.
So that's a lot.
That's true.
That's right.
You went from a two to an eight.
That's wild.
That's insane.
I like the movie.
I like the movie.
I kept rewatching it.
Like, how many, like, did you?
I kept rewatching the movie over and over here.
Because it's like, because I was with you, like, for a long time, I was like,
this sucks.
But then I'm like, why do I want to fucking rewatch that again?
Why do I need to rewatch that?
What makes me continue to watch the movie so much?
I watch the movie.
Why do I need to figure this out?
Like, it's a, it's a mystery.
Because there's something in your brain that can't comprehend you not like in the Matrix.
It was a bad film and you're like, but I love the Matrix.
Why don't I hate this movie?
That's what it was.
Touching the content stove.
You don't know why you keep getting burned.
Maybe I want some copium for this.
Maybe.
I don't know.
It's exactly what it is.
It's a hundred.
100% copium.
That's it.
Can we go?
Jomey,
giving your score,
I will tell what mine is changing to.
Man,
I mean,
I got,
I'm like,
I'm sticking with Charles
original score,
but that's a four,
like,
I'm watching the four.
I'm like,
God,
what is this,
man?
I don't,
again,
I don't like the Matrix
as much as y'all,
I mean,
or the first Matrix,
but like,
the Lord,
like all that stuff.
I'm not,
I watch the films.
It's cool,
whatever.
This one did not do it for me.
I like the original trilogy and this shit
Stenwell for. Van went on a small tangent in
Vegas about the six cycles of
Zion to
nobody understanding what he was
talking about. Because why should I?
Why should I have to? The only reason
why you guys don't understand the
six cycles of Zion. You don't understand. Look,
hey, it's just like what people used to tell me
about common back in 1997.
It's like
they will put, I'll be on my
Master P. We're not conscious like that.
Exactly. We'll be listening to
We be no limit niggas, what?
And we bought it.
We come to the club and get that motherfucker rowdy.
And then my cousins would be like, hey, bro, let's put on that comment real quick.
I'm like, nigga, not in this fucking car, nigga.
Like, what?
We don't have no limit, nigga.
What?
We don't have seen shocker.
What?
We don't have seen murder.
What?
We don't have had high boys.
And they'd be like, and then they would always go,
I get it.
You're just not to the point to where you can really understand common yet.
And I would get so mad.
Jesus Christ.
I would get so, because I was listening to all kinds of crazy shit.
I just hadn't become a common fan yet.
I was listening to all the native tongue shit before,
all the other shit,
Rakim, all of that.
You just can't, you can't get common yet.
And I'll be so pissed.
That's what I'm telling you guys about the Matrix Resurations.
One day y'all get it.
You see what I'm saying?
One day it's two cycles of Zion.
That's right, Van.
The architect, you feel me?
It's an eight.
Free your mind.
Free your mind.
Punk, motherfucker.
So where are we going with No Way Home?
Because, Van, you had a nine.
Steve and Jomi both had 11s.
And I agreed with you with a nine.
So let's let's let the midboys go first.
Yeah, let's let the midboys go first with no way home.
So like this one, well, no, actually unlike Matrix Reserctions,
I kind of had to force myself to rewatch this at home.
Oh, my God.
Real big drop off.
I'll say.
Rewatchability is not high on this.
You'd think with like one of the most like craziest like third act reveals that we all
saw coming, but it's still great to see
that they all did it. They all came back
together, and they all swung
as one, and it was all
great. There's a lot going
on in this that doesn't really
work. And
I'm just, this is like a,
this is an eight. It's an eight.
You went from an eleven
to an eight. That's what I'm
talking about. There's fun. There's a lot
of, of course, there's so much fun here.
That's a mulligan.
there's a there's a real real real
good movie in here
but like man
is it all about that first watch experience
and it also doesn't make sense
on second rewatched
a lot of it doesn't make sense
this is not
this is not coherent at all
Jomey well what you get
yeah I mean
it's tough
going back and watch you get the crib
you know when you're out to theater
and you're just watching it on the Hulu
the Hulu app
and you're like oh man
he didn't just want to talk to the college people
why didn't he do that
why would he have to talk to Dr. Strange first
that doesn't make any sense
you know
ultimately I think I enjoyed it
I still don't like when
when they all three Spider-Men swing together
like that still warms my heart
you know the conversation they have on the
on the sexual liberty
still like works and you know
seeing all three of them together is like
it is cool even though I can go watch the clips on YouTube
So I will have the one I score down
But I think I'll just be like a
A nine seems too high man
A nine?
A nine seems too high
You got a job
A nine seems too high
Yeah it's probably eight
It's probably eight
I still enjoy it
Oh come on
I still enjoy it
I'm not the third
Damn Jomey
The third act
Wow
I still like I'm still like
Cool hey man see all these Spider-Man
I'm interact
All that still
Even though you know
I've seen it like a couple times now
It's so fun
interesting.
The first two-thirds,
I could do without.
Y'all was ready to put this
in the pantheon.
Y'all gave this an 11.
You should be a shame.
There's a lot of game left,
fella.
A lot of game left,
Charles.
Your time is coming.
Don't worry.
Don't worry, champ.
Yeah,
everybody has their time.
Don't worry.
All right.
You know what,
Van,
both of us had nines.
I watched this on an airplane
and it was the perfect airplane
movie because I just didn't
have to pay attention to it.
And it didn't hold my attention.
Yeah,
I got to be real.
a seven. I'm going from an hour.
Whoa.
Cinematic event of the year.
No, this is a seven.
Like, let's be real, guys.
Like, outside, like, to your point, Jomey,
everything I like about this movie I can watch on YouTube,
that's not a great place.
Yeah, that's not good.
It's a seven.
So I put myself in a position.
And the position is that
I gave the Matrix Resurrection
an eight.
I have to be honest with you.
I have to stick to my guns and come down to an eight on Spider-Man.
Now, I have to.
You know these are not the same quality of movies.
I watch the Matrix Resurrection so much more than I watch Spider-Man.
It seems to be at least once, twice a month with you.
I do.
I watch the Matrix Reserations, like, Kleeca's baffled.
I watched the Matrix Reserctions so much more than I watch.
Does she like the Matrix?
Does Colica like the Matrix Reserctions?
Fuck no.
Yeah.
That's what I was talking about.
I knew it.
So Noe-Hone's an 8 for you?
I got to come down to 8.
I can't make it through No-A-Hong.
I can't make it through No-A-Hon.
How is it an 8 then?
If you can't make it through the movie, how it's in an 8?
Because the theater experience still warrants.
The theater experience really was transformative.
I can't make it through No Way Home.
So you just skip to like an hour 30 in.
Maybe further.
Right.
Here's where it kicks off for me.
It's when Pete and Green Goblin fight in the apartment.
That's where it kicks off where he's like,
that's some trick you've got there.
I might actually go further than that.
Further than that?
Further?
Damn, you're going to the last 10% of the movie.
I'm serious.
Whatever.
It's when when when,
when Peter 3 shows up in the portal.
When the Peters show up, it's basically when we start.
Yeah. I'll be honest, when I knew it was rough,
yo, the, the electro fight when he has to reverse his suit,
that whole thing I was, I think I felt asleep.
The story was good.
Yeah, the Doctor Strange fight is not, is not bad.
That's cool. Yeah.
There's some cool moments, but the chunk of the movie that I'm interested in
is like way, like, it's like an hour of 45 in, bro.
you know what I'm really interested in
the chunk of this podcast that I'm interested in
we all have
we all have egregious scores
that we're all going to have to grapple with
now we're going to Van
because
Book of Boba Fed season one
boy
Van scored this in eight
I had a six Steve out of six
and Jomey at a seven
van please the red carpet is yours
come accept your award
what are you giving
Book of Boba Fett season one
A eight
No way
Stop
No, fuck at
I'll leave
I will leave this
Chat
I will not finish this
Stop
Okay
Let me tell you why
I give it an eight though
Let me tell you why I give it an eight
No
This whole
Whoa whoa
This entire
Can I give it a eight
I don't have to change it
There's no rule that says
You have to change
My boys
Am I wrong
This whole time
You don't have to change
It doesn't have to change it
He doesn't have to change it
He doesn't have to change it
He doesn't have to change it
But Van has been saying
For a couple
Like a couple months
He's like yeah you know
Book of Boba Fet
wasn't as good as I thought.
I'll tell you what, this is the greatest podcast we've ever done
if he changes every single score of his to an eight.
Right.
I'm not changing.
Let me tell you.
I'm not changing.
You know why?
Because I went back and watched.
Right.
And I really enjoyed the beginning of the book of Boba Fent.
Right?
Okay.
I went back and watched it and I really enjoyed the stuff at the beginning.
Then it got whacked.
But then the thing about the book of Boba Fent is you have to include
the Mando stuff
in the show.
And that's so good.
You have to
you're right. You have to include this part of the show.
So to me, with that stuff being a part of the show,
it's an A.
Okay, but like that's the, like it's so,
this is so messed up.
This is egregious.
Because like House of our head, like,
Mal had like three different moments from Book of Boba Fett
in her top moments of the year.
All of them had to do with Mando.
and none of it had to do with Boba Fett.
And it's the fact that this show
literally becomes a different show
for two and a half episodes.
It's great. And it's a show that isn't
having to do with anything and then it just forgets
that it has to do with Boba Fett.
And the part that it does,
we really liked because
it had an amazing episode of the Mandalorian and then
remember when Mando and
Grogu were reunited on a show that wasn't about them?
Remember that?
We have to remember that. We have to remember that.
Steve gave Matrix Reddressions a seven.
Yeah?
Just keep that in mind.
Yeah.
Just keep that in mind.
So, Van, you stick in with an eight.
I'm sticking with an eight.
Nah, you're lying to the people.
It's fine.
I'm sticking to the eight.
It's mine.
I'm mint boys.
I'm standing on my six.
I'm standing on it because all of that six pretty much goes to the Mandalorian episodes.
I'm based on the other shit.
I'm with Van in both like the are like the stuff that doesn't work for me is all the stuff like present day.
present day
Boba
but all the stuff
in the past
was interesting
and I think
my I wanted
like my first thing
is a six
like we're talking to
Boba straight up six
but I gotta give it
a point for Mando man
I gotta like
all that stuff
was great
so I'm sticking with the seven
I'm sticking with myself
the Mando stuff is perfect
I uh
podcast with a bunch of cowards
I'm dropping towards
well there's no way
I can give no way home
I went up six point
points. Do you understand how bad that's going to
I'm going to get killed? I want to have six
points on the Matrix's Reseration, the movie that everybody
hates. I'm not a coward. You're a coward.
I'm giving Book of Boba Fett a four. There's no way I can give
no way home a seven and be like, Book of Boba Fett's
one score below it. Nah, it's a four. And all
four points are for
the Mandalorian parts.

It's Batman Time.
Oh, Jammer all fucked.
It's a lot.
Hey, hey, let's do it.
First, okay, before we do this, because people are going to get super mad,
I want everybody to go through and tell us a little bit about the feeling that you had about the Batman coming out of the theater and, like, talk about what the movie did so well inside of the theater for you.
It worked.
It a thousand percent worked.
coming out of the theater.
It did.
Like, we,
it was,
it was all vibes for a pretty great story.
I don't know why it like,
ultimately,
like,
evaporated from the public consciousness,
because if we look at most of the things on this list,
you could say this is the best superhero movie
to come out in the past year.
And I don't really know why we haven't talked about it more.
We might go down in these scores,
but I can't really say that this is a shitty movie,
and this certainly isn't a bad one.
I'd still say that it's a great one.
I still think it's a good movie.
I just think, I'll be honest.
The thing that I think is tough for us
is that we have to talk about this
every single week.
And I think we had been through The Ringer.
Like, we just got through Book of Bolefebuffet.
I think we were all kind of like,
we just want to see some dope shit
and the Batman had it.
And I just think it worked in the theater.
There was a lot of things I loved.
And I think I was just ready to love something
so unabashedly that I,
I just scored it a little too high.
I think the 10 is bad.
The 10 is bad, but I'm not going to go that much lower.
Right.
Because we were all tens across the board.
Listen, the film is, you know, the mystery is done pretty well.
The ambiance, you know, the romance between Batman and Cowan.
Really works.
It's got, it's got some things that work.
It's three hours long.
What do you want to cut out of that?
Okay, maybe you can cut the ending.
Oh, there's a one.
What's the end?
What's the end?
You're talking about what do you want to cut out?
Steve.
What are you cutting out?
Steve.
Steve.
You could code on.
Because this comes out after the avatar app pod comes out.
Oh, all right.
You, if I recall correctly, God on here was talking about not in the podcast, pre-pod.
Like, James Cameron could have cut 90 minutes out of that thing.
I stand by that shit.
You telling me Matt Reeves couldn't cut.
90 minutes of screensavers.
You telling me Matt Reeves couldn't cut 30, 45 minutes?
Yeah.
Come on, bro.
Come on, now.
Come on, dog.
Have some decorum.
You could cut 40 out that bitch.
It would still be $2.20.
Like, you know what I'm saying?
What?
Come on, man.
You can't tell me.
They definitely could have cut some shit out the movie, bro.
Like, for sure.
All right.
Then what are we cutting then?
What are you cutting?
You could just get 15 minutes of general brooding.
Like, just general.
So, like, hit 1.5 speed on all the time.
Just general brooding.
He can walk a little faster.
Yeah.
Sure.
You know?
Just get upstairs.
To me, there's a point where he still goes back to the apartment again to find out the whole plot.
Oh, yeah.
There's a point to me to where either that should have been something that was paramount in that
or because it felt like they returned to the king to that and added a little movie
onto the end of the movie itself.
So, like, I personally think that the gigantic set piece at,
at the end, while amazing, should have been moved up a little bit
and should have been the finale, you can get some of the fat out of the middle of the,
of the whole deal.
I think there was just a little too much going on.
They could cut one of those club scenes out.
I'm like, we don't got to go through the whole club again.
Like, just, also, if we're being real, was the end where it's like,
he goes back and, like, fucking Gotham is flooded now and then he has to go all the way to the stadium.
Like, once the city starts to flood, I'm like, this is where.
I'm like, man, we could, we could have wrap this up a little bit quick.
I mean, when he first caught the joke or the Riddler, I was in there like, oh, man, great, man, good movie, man.
Good movie.
Awesome, man.
And then, like, there's like 30, 40 extra minutes.
I was like, hey, yeah.
What?
So if we all had tens, where are we going now?
I'm here.
I will say the Batman deserves an eight.
I think an eight is a way more representative of the Batman.
Yeah, I, once again, I put myself in a bad position.
Bad news.
But I got to, I, my.
Wait, are you going to rank this lower than Matrix, man?
Do it.
No, I'm not going to rank it lower to the Matrix.
I can't do that.
I got, I got to come down a little bit.
I got to come down, I got to come down to a nine.
I got to come down to a nine.
Because I can't give it a 10 out of 10.
I got to come down.
to a
I'm not going to a year.
That's fine.
That's fine.
I would also bring it down to a nine.
I would bring it down to a nine.
I still think that they're,
they're exceptional parts of this movie.
Gets a little long of the tooth.
Maybe overstays his welcome a little bit,
but man,
like this was a really good shot in the arm for Batman.
I'm rocking with Charles.
I got to give it an eight.
I fell asleep the third time I was on theaters.
Like I was,
just like,
I'm going to knock out.
So you can't do anything
more than a nine or certain more than eight so rock with eight all right moon night old scores
van you had an eight i had a six joey had an eight steve had a seven i'm a let since van and joey
both have eights i'm gonna let y'all kind of talk to us where you where are y'all feeling in terms
i went back in touch my what i went back i went bra i went bra five five
Five, nigga
You didn't even think about it
You didn't even
No
I went back
And I tried to look at it
It's just not that good
I'll be real with you
I was it was interesting
It was an interesting watch
While we were covering it
Yeah
No bullshit
With even that episode
That everybody says
It's so amazing
Bro I didn't like that episode
That much then
It's a fantastic performance
By Oscar Isaac
Absolutely
but like five, bro.
Wow.
Ooh, I like this energy.
It's tough, man, because
fans got a point.
You know, I went back and I spun
like a part of
episode four, you know,
just like, just to, just to
give it a look, give it a look see when they're
in Egypt and they're going through the tomb.
I was like, hey, man,
I'm falling to sleep here.
This isn't
cooking.
I remember we're cooking back then.
Yeah, once the mystery is out of the bag and you're just going back,
it's like, ah, man, this isn't really, uh, it's really wasn't doing his thing.
Oscar, I do have to give, I can't disrespect to Oscar, I just go, man,
did bring, did bring it?
So I'm going to give it a six, you know, instead of a five.
But, man, it is, it's tough.
And that finale is bottom two, MCU finale.
that that finale
the power rangers
when they started when they grew big
and they were fighting each other
in the in the dark too because
you can't light it because the CGI wasn't like that
you know what I'm saying it's like bitch black
with them fighting it's tough
it's tough yeah I got to be real
I'm going with Van I had a six originally
I'm going to bump it down to a five it's like
yeah it's just
you can't have Oscar Isaac
this shit and it ends up whack.
You know what I'm saying?
It didn't work.
Steve, you out of seven?
Where are you going?
I mean, like, okay.
Five for me, I get, yeah, five.
Wow.
Five.
Wow.
Damn.
The way it goes.
Yeah.
Don't wow nothing.
It happens.
It does.
It does.
You know what I'm saying?
That's the way love goes.
That's the way.
What is the way?
You know what?
You want to know what?
I'm really excited because I think I'm noticing a trend because Dr. Strange of the
multiverse of madness is the next one.
Three.
No, I'm just joking.
Joe me.
Come on.
Jomey,
you have an eight for this.
Mia and Van Hapstead have seven.
Steve has a six.
Come on.
This is not even my worst one.
It's not even my worst one.
But we're building up to it.
How did you give this an eight, Jomey?
You know, man, it had to, you know, it was beginning of summer.
You know, I was naive.
I was foolish.
You know, honestly, this is the one that, like, on the rewatch when I'm at the crib and I'm about to spend a MCU phase four film, spend this one.
I'm not like, I'm not, I don't, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, right?
It's definitely not eight.
Like, let me be very clear.
But when I go and I see the, the, the, the Illuminati scene, even though, like, they're clearly not all there together at the same time.
And I go back.
And I see the scene where he's fighting himself with the magic, you know, and, and then the last, the last bit, you know, they're all together at Carmatage.
I'm like, oh, look at America, man.
She's going to be the next source for her, man.
I'm my chest.
I'm like, hey, it could have been worse.
So I can't give it a six, man.
I got to bump it down one and seven.
I feel like a six is crazy because it's better than Moon Knight.
Got to bump it down to a seven.
Okay.
For sure.
Seven.
Van, do either of us...
I'm sticking with seven.
Okay.
I'm sticking with seven.
I watch the movie again.
The movie is not a travesty.
It's not a triumph.
And to me, that gets the movie of seven.
There's plenty enough to like and there's plenty enough to have wished that they could have done better.
So the movie is definitely...
It sticks...
I'm sticking with my seven here.
I think I...
bumping it to your score, Steve.
I think I'm going to bump it one grade to a six,
where it's just like, I think
I'm still at where I was at.
I just think it has the, I think
time has just made me realize that
oh no, like we just don't
talk about this movie anymore.
Like we just, sometimes I even forget
that it was released this year. So it's
getting a sex. This was a genuine
conflict for me because I'm sticking, I'm keeping my
six as well.
But it's, like, it genuinely
pushed and pulled on me
harder. Like the things that I found
fun and enjoyable, I found a lot
more fun and a lot more enjoyable.
Every time re-watching the music
note fight, amazing.
Every, like, sort of fun
horror element that Rammy throws in there.
The music was amazing.
Like, there's so many
really good things
in here. I got more
mad at all
the shit that happened with Wanda. I got
more upset at the fact
that the Illuminati was wasted.
that there's a middle act that does literally nothing.
It's so, like, it kept pulling.
Like, all those fun things were more fun.
The Wanda shit really pissed me off even more.
So for that, like, I still feel the same.
Like, it's six.
It stays at a six for me.
Okay.
Now we're going, we're going to our second Star Wars show on this list.
Obi-Wan Canobi.
Van, you gave it an eight.
Yeah.
I gave it a seven.
Jomey gave it a seven,
Steve gave it a seven.
I'm going to be a part of the seven squad.
I got to leave y'all behind if you're not going to change it.
I think after Andor,
I think I got to bump Obi-1 down like a six.
Is that fair, though?
Why would you bump Obi-1 down
because of a different property?
I'm asking.
I'm like, I'm-
No, no.
It's not that I'm bumping it down because of Andor.
I think that there was a feeling
when I watch Obi-Wan Kenobi
and then when I watched Book of Boba-Fat,
when I was like, oh, this is all these series can be.
Where I really started, like, getting beaten down.
I'm like, oh, okay, well, if this is all Star Wars is going to be,
it's fine.
And now I'm like, oh, no, like, no, we can, we can walk for more.
I'm not trying to be a decade.
I'm not.
I'm not, I'm really not.
No, I know you're not.
I'm just saying, like, it's, I guess,
and I guess we're all doing this in some way that we're comparing.
things to other things, but
is there, okay, how about this?
Is there something specifically about Andor
that has made you realize how poor Obi-Wan was?
You just kind of said that in a big way?
Is there something specific about it
that made you go, hey, stuff?
You want to know what it was?
Yeah.
This is Obi-Wan Kenobi,
and I think that what Andor did
is make me think about how big,
and vast the Star Wars is, how nuanced the characters are, how just like dark and intensely
deep it is when you think about what it is to fight fascism, what it is to stand up. And I think
Obi-Wan Kenobi, that was a chance for Star Wars to say, like, what does it mean to really dive
deep into what a broken Jedi looks like? One of the greatest Jedi of all time. And I think I,
after seeing it, I know this isn't fair, none of this rivalry, but like, after seeing,
Cassian be broken down
bit by bit and then raised
back up? I'm like, oh shit.
We could have had that with Canobi.
You know what I mean? And I think
that's why it's like, I'm not, it's not
a four. I'm just saying it's a seven
to a six because I was just like,
yeah, I just wanted a little bit more
richness from the characters.
Team, talk it over.
They had Obi-one try to sneak layer
out of a base in his coat.
Shut up, bro. They wouldn't have done that
in the end of us. One ticket to the movie.
Please, please.
It's all I'm saying.
Imagine Cassie trying to sneak
little girl and he's like,
hey, I'm just putting my coat.
I'm going to rock around like that.
You'd be like, that's ridiculous.
They had little princesses lay into a cross over.
Crossovers are people trying to kidnap her.
Like, bro.
Like, come on, man.
Hey, last year was a big year
for kids, like, not being
captured by full grown adults.
Yeah.
Like, it's,
when I was first watching that,
I'm going, oh, she's probably,
she's probably, you know,
she's not probably.
She's definitely force sensitive, so maybe that's helping her get away.
And then it's like, you know, man, it's not the bullshit.
It's not going to be.
Like, like, like, like, myself is like, man, cut the dumb shit, dog.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, cut, like, cut the bullshit.
Because you had an eight.
Like, what are you giving it down?
I'm giving it a seven.
I'm going down to a seven for Obi-1.
And look, I went back and tried to watch these things.
It is, it's like, here's the thing about Obi-1.
it's not a good show
and
so no
it's simple
but listen
but like here's the thing
it's like it's not
it's like not a good show
it's like it's
fun to watch
based upon the nostalgia
that we went into it with
but resting on its own
it's just like
it's not that good
I mean the first
episodes of Obi-Wan were cool, and overall,
it's just fall short of being what I would call.
We're doing this, and I want people to look,
we didn't make this stuff.
This is actually, when I went back and watched a lot of this,
to Charles's point, and I'm not trying to compare this to,
to, um, I'm not trying to compare this to,
uh, to Andor, but a lot of this,
stuff from this past year was useless.
And I don't know no other way to say it.
I'm not trying to be super negative.
I would say anticipation and realization of anticipation
for a lot of the stuff that we're talking about,
you coasted on that for a lot of the time with some of this stuff.
Because if you just try to go back and fall back into it,
and that rewatchability isn't everything.
and I wouldn't want to overstate rewatchability on this podcast.
But I don't know, Obi-Wan is just like not that good.
It's not that good.
If we're being real, though, you have to think about it.
When I'm looking through this list, like, this was supposed to be a monster year.
You had no way home, which, like, did what it did, and it did amazing.
But we're talking about Dr. Strange in the multiverse of madness.
We're talking about Obi-Wan Kenobi, Oscar Isaac and Moon Knight.
Like, I remember when we were like, oh, shit, like next year is going to be, like, hi.
and now we're just kind of like
ooh this is
they didn't stick the landing on a lot of this
I would say 75% of this
yeah it way that's the way it goes
but it's just
I don't know man
it's
tough scene
that's just the way
you what are you
what are you giving Obi-Wan now
I think I'm going down just a tiny bit
to a six
all the reasons that you really stated
Charles like it's
it feels like more of the missed
opportunity rather than how it was
rendered on screen now.
Not to say what, not to armchair
quarterback it to be like, oh, well, this is what you should
have done fixing all these things. But I'm like, I
really wouldn't have done
a lot of, like, its biggest
sin to me was having Obi-1 walk away
from Darth Vader.
Oh yeah. Oh, I forgot
about that. Again. Walked away.
That's so nuts.
It's not like any other reason.
Like, pull him away. Physically pull him
away from doing that.
Got to have the, the original
Man, half Palpatine intervene.
Or he has to go rescue Leia.
I'm serious.
If it's between killing Bader or rescuing Leia.
Fine, rescue Leia.
That makes sense.
Vader is literally walking around snapping people's neck, dog.
Yeah.
Like, you know what I'm saying?
It's crazy.
He literally walked away.
He was like, you're not anarchy anymore.
And it was like, my friend is truly dead.
My friend is really dead.
All right.
I'll see y'all later, man.
Please, let me go live in the fucking desert to protect your son from you.
Like, I could figure it out right now.
Well, let me go.
You got a solution, but no.
All right.
I mean, I'm not trying to, I'm just, when you go back and you watch stuff like that, it's like, come on, Obey.
Yeah.
Or it's not even that.
It's just the fact that, like, it didn't have the consideration to just, like, think of, like,
okay, give him something else
that gives him a reason to not
kill him because that conflict was amazing.
That ending fight between
him and Vader and him and
Anakin was genuinely moving.
Like you didn't kill Anakin Skywalker.
I did. Like all of those
things. Great. All of his
reasoning to simply walk away
is terrible. It is funny though that
my man had two times to call
Anakin. It was like,
don't worry about it.
Right. Come on.
And also, and also,
Also, the more
they put Vader in stuff,
the more they put Vader,
okay, so like,
Vader fights Asoka
in, like,
in rebels, right?
Mm.
So Vader can't beat Asoka.
I mean, you know what I'm saying?
Like, Vader can't beat Asoka.
You can't,
so if you have Vader fight Asoka,
like,
Asoka is dope, right?
She's super dope.
But you would think that Skywalker
would be on a different level
than Asoka.
Like, you would think
that Osoka would be biting off too much.
And maybe I'm wrong.
So he loses to Osoka.
Then he goes into the situation,
Obi-Wan beats him twice.
The Moosephar situation, you figure,
okay, he beats him because he gets the high ground.
Nah, he kicked his fucking ass again.
You know what I'm...
It starts to fuck with...
I'm not trying to be an asshole.
It starts to fuck with your perception
of the character a little bit.
I know he's a bad...
This nigga kind of like the Lakers, he can only beat like really bad opponents.
All right.
All right.
I wouldn't go out.
No, no, no, no, no.
Slow down.
Let Van Cook.
Because he's like, you know how I feel about power scale.
And I haven't said it in a while.
But like, yo, my man, is Vader the most badass motherfucker alive?
Or is he struggling like a life?
I think a part of it is like, you know, we have the legends canon all that stuff.
And, you know, where he's like the goat, right?
in media and things like we've seen him in.
I mean, he does this thing in Rogue One
and we know Anakin is, you know,
the crazy murderer of Sandpeople.
So he's got, he's got skills, right?
We know that.
Ultimately, I think, like...
Murdering Sand people.
Here's the thing, right?
We know Darth Vader as, you know,
he's...
We see him do his thing against Riva,
so we know he's got some badass qualities to him,
But Reva, the third sister?
Yeah, what the fuck she got to do with anything?
She packed, like that.
That was a scene where I was like, yeah, that's dark-gater.
She got played, though.
She got packed up.
Yeah.
Tell me, literally every Inquisitor we've ever seen is ass.
Yeah.
I mean, that's my agenda.
You know how I feel about the Inquisites.
They're some real bums.
They're the Washington generals of Star Wars, right?
Yeah.
But, I mean, like, Asoka's supposed to be tight.
Obi-Won is supposed to be tight.
them, him losing those fights
or, I mean, even like, I guess
you would say he lost to
Obi-Wan. He didn't lose to his soccer fight.
That's what I'm saying. Yeah. They fought to his stella,
you didn't even really see what happened. You just saw her
walking away. So, maybe she escaped. I get
it. Nah, I don't understand. I'm supposed to be, like, you know,
one of the greatest out here. So, like, I'm not,
I'm not faulting him for, like, drawing against
Asoka. And then, you know,
Obi-Wan, they're supposed to be cool. Like, that's not,
that's no problem. For me,
my sin was the Riva stuff
and I mentioned it earlier
but like I kind of like
I don't even want to get into the character
like her character or all that stuff
but her storyline
they too
I mentioned this while we were doing the thing
but if they tweak it
so like she actually wants
Obi-Wan and Obi-Wan
is like hey man guess what
funny story I'm not the person
you know I know I'm supposed to be the guy
that you know was
Anakin's
Anakin's master
he's still alive
he's Darth Vader
you didn't know that
that's crazy
so the person
you're trying to kill
is there the whole time
you can go beat him up
leave me alone
and then she turns
and then she gets packed up
I'd have been like
oh cool wow
what a reveal
but instead she's like
yeah I knew Anakin
was there the whole time
and he killed my people
whole time
and I've just been working
with him this whole time
to kill him eventually
he's like okay cool
thanks for spelling that out for us
Spielberg
awesome
so yeah I'm gonna bump it down
down to a six.
Ultimately,
like,
it's just done,
it doesn't.
There's got some cool moments,
but like Van said it,
man,
just not,
it's not great.
It's not good,
man.
Well, this is really,
I think,
the time that we've all been waiting for.
Who's all of us?
This is going to be wonderful.
So,
Joey,
I would like you to take over
the next movie
and just explain up.
For sure.
Yeah,
for sure.
No problem.
So our next mid-9 meter
Mulligan goes to
Thor,
11 Thunder.
And let me just go through the old scores real quick
before we get into it.
Van gave it a seven.
Charles gave it a seven.
And Steve gave it a seven.
For some reason, my ranking is nowhere to be found.
Can we go to check?
I can't.
I'm looking for it.
I can't.
Oh, man.
Oh, well.
Well, I certainly hope you didn't give it a nine on the midnight.
Joey, what was going through your head then?
Yeah.
Why did you give it a nine, though?
You gave it a nine.
Can I go?
Can I get a second?
Fellas?
I, coming out of theater, I enjoyed the film.
I'm not going to hold you.
I'm not going to lie to you.
So did I.
So did I.
I was like, wow, this comedy, this works for me.
I'm like, I'm watching Thor make jokes with the hammer and the axe.
You know, Corg is doing all this narration, doing a lot of talking, a lot of bright colors.
And I was like, wow, I really had fun.
This is really fun.
Singing in the theaters.
you know, eating my mac and cheese bites with the nacho cheese.
I was like, man, I'm having so much fun.
Then the movie came on in Disney Plus.
And to everyone under the sound of my voice, everybody listening, you know, I just want to, hey, thank you for being a fan.
And most importantly, too, I would like to apologize.
The nine is egregious.
There's nothing else to say about it.
I have misled you.
I have, you know, betrayed your trust.
trust and most importantly, I have felt to uphold the creed that is being a Mindyne boy.
And I am so sorry to everybody who had to hear me give this a nine.
I am so sorry to everybody who had to go on to the Reddit, go into the Facebook groups and
defend me for giving it a nine.
I can only offer my deepest, deepest sorrows and condolences for what I have said then.
because that's not me.
That wasn't me.
That was a different person.
Quite literally.
All my selves have changed.
I am no longer the person
to give this movie a nine
but different human being
and there's not much
market safe than that
other than I am so sorry
and I can't help to do better
in the future.
What's the new score?
What's the new score?
Man, this is a four.
Bro.
It's like honestly, man,
It's like a six.
It's a six, man.
Yeah.
I'm not even going to hold, John.
I'll give it a six, too.
I'm giving it a six.
That's a six for me.
Man, like, I really, I really was.
Like, so the movie comes out.
I'm like, man, I really enjoyed everybody.
I was like, oh, no, Jummi.
Give it a nine.
Da-da-da-da.
Everybody's like, bro, come on, man.
Bro, this is chicks.
I was like, no, man.
Like, come on.
I went, I saw it at the crib.
Stinks, dog.
Dude.
Yeah.
I was like, yo, yeah.
It's when Heimdahl's son just facetimes in.
That's real.
I'll tell you something.
You know something about this movie?
It's not funny either.
Not really.
No, bro, the goats.
The ghosts are funny.
I love the goats, but I love animals, so it's not fair.
That's true.
I love the goats, and I enjoy Russell Crow.
I thought he was pretty hilarious.
He was cool.
But the movie's not that.
It's kind of a normal.
Like, they
Like, they're getting on my fucking nerves.
Well, this was on your rewatch.
Yeah.
Like, in the theater, I was like,
so in the theater, I do this thing to where
you guys have watched movies with me.
You've guys have seen me check my watch multiple times
during the movie.
It's because I'm checking the quashions of the movie
in my head.
Yeah.
And I'm grading them.
So I go, every 15 minutes, how was that?
Every 15 minutes, how was that?
Every 15 minutes, how was that?
That's kind of what.
what I do.
And if you get to like the third 15 minutes of a movie or deep into the second and you're
not having any fun, then that's when I start to get like, okay, we got to pick up the pace
real quick.
And sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't.
I was like that way around the laughs in the movie.
Like, Ragnarok was legitimately funny.
Like almost all the jokes landed.
You know what I mean?
There was a lot of Jeff Goldblum in there too because he was so funny in the movie as well.
every time he was on screen, it was funny.
But this movie, I liked the hammer stuff.
I thought that was funny whenever they did it.
But it wasn't that much fun.
It was kind of whack.
Christian Bales is a kind of a ray of sunshine in here.
I genuinely think that he's doing something really, really fun.
You don't kill no gods, man.
But he's also in a different movie.
He doesn't kill one God.
Wait, don't wait.
He did.
He did kill God.
He killed the beginning of the movie.
And then what?
He was supposed to kill, like, thousands of gods.
Yeah.
I guess he's a great actor and like he does play the role role to Steve's point.
Like he does there is something there.
I would have loved to see him taunt some people.
Like, hey, what's up, Arisham?
What's cooking, my brother?
I definitely want to see the movie that he thought he was in because that's a good movie.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So what are we doing?
I think this one will be easy.
We don't got to belabor this one.
The boy season three, then you out of 12.
I had a nine.
Jomey out of 10.
Steve out of nine.
I'm sticking with mine.
I'm sticking with a 9 too.
I'm sticking with 10.
My brother's watching the boys for the first time.
And he got it on screen.
I was like, first of all, because he's on my summer.
He's on winter vacation.
I was like, you can't be playing this in the house with the parents home.
There's a lot of blood.
There's a lot of nastiness out here.
You can't get caught up because.
How old is this young man?
He's 19.
He's going to be 20 next year.
His parents need to let that man fly.
Listen, listen.
Listen.
Listen.
You know what John makes?
Listen.
I'm coming to your crib.
I'm coming over.
I'm coming over.
I'm going to come hang out.
I'm good with parents.
I'm going to come hang out.
I'm sure my parents will love you.
Here's the thing, though.
But I don't know how well my mom's going to take it when she see a man go through another
man's ureth and then he explodes.
You know what I'm saying?
Yeah, that's probably true.
That's probably not going to work.
It doesn't need to see that.
Yes.
Yeah, that's probably.
That's going mom like that doesn't need to see that.
You get to hero gazom.
Oh, I'm for.
God, they have the stretchy penis guy in like the first season, I think.
Yeah.
Come on, man.
Yeah, yeah.
Come on, yeah.
It's a lot.
That's probably true.
Probably want to let, you know.
How much it's a not, but it's a good show, man.
I'm sticking with 10.
How are we feeling with Miss Marvel?
Because Van, Steve and I all gave it a six.
Show me you gave it a seven.
I think I'm going to stick with a six.
I'm down one to five.
Why'd you go down?
It was really because it was a drop off incredibly from the first three episodes
till the finale.
The first three episodes, I think, are incredible.
I think it's a genuinely better show
when we stick in New Jersey
and when we stay in the sort of
high school
trope milieu of that,
of what she's got to deal with.
Instead, when we, like, go abroad
and we've got to, like, deal about the bigger thing,
everything's the end of the world,
all of that shit.
Like, that's not what I'm talking about.
That's not what I want.
This show is, like, really, really
getting too big for what it should be,
and it just needs to stay a lot more
intimate with its stakes and it gets way off the beaten path with those.
Okay. So, interesting. You convince me, I'm going, I'm going five. I was trying to be nice
because I didn't want to be like the asshole, but like, Steve, you did it for me is getting a five.
Because that's the thing, like the first three episodes like are like perfectly great. If they
stuck with that, yeah. This is like a nine for a show. Wow. So this is why it showed so much
promise. This is what I heard, Steve was like in the show. But when they, when they started
talking about white people on how they messed up, you know, the Indian, the India, the
Pakistani border relationship.
Then he was like, I'm out.
I understand.
Here's the thing.
I never got to talk about it.
I just really want to put it in the air.
We never talked about this on the pod.
Dog, in the season finale of Miss Marvel,
they had the Jersey City cops
defending motherfuckers.
I'm just like, bro, what show is this, man?
Like, I get copaganda.
I get all this shit.
But nah, man, I'm from Jersey.
Like, come on, bro.
What are you doing, man?
I can't speak to that.
I can't speak to that.
You know, Charles wants to make political statements here on the podcast.
Hey, Cap.
I'm gonna fuck.
What's your work?
I'm with you, Charles.
I'm fucking with you.
Talk your shit.
You know about your point.
I know, I know who wouldn't, I know the Baton Rouge police department wouldn't defend you.
Anyway, you let somebody come from down out of the sky.
The Baton Rouge police department could be like, hey, we're going to give you three shots at this nigga.
All right.
You can have.
I know Van, I know Van was hot because he was like, man.
the finale.
I'm sick of these
home alone finale.
It's a lot of home
traps.
Bro,
you know what?
There's one thing
to be learned
from Marvel
is that teenagers
can defeat
like super villains
and the government.
They can just take down
shield.
It's like teenagers
can take down
damage control.
Like the teen can do it all.
It's like weird
that we even need the Avengers
where really we could have
sent the cast of Saved by the Vail
to fight.
fucking Thanos and then they would
have beat him. With one
liners and plucky quips.
The Fonz takes down.
Are you staying with a six? I'm staying with a six.
I thought
it was delightful in the beginning
there was a hell of a drop off. I got to introduce
this one now. Well, no, hold on.
I got to get this one. I got to give this one. Go ahead.
Oh, shit. Wait, y'all coming at me now?
It's your turn. Yeah, it's a sure you're turn.
I'm giving Miss Marvelous six.
Yeah, you know what? I deserve
this shit, yo, guys.
All right.
So the next one is
The hierarchy.
Black Adam
The film of Charles's life.
Charles was so into this, he photoshopped
his head on the rock's body.
It was a whole
annoying era
with Charles. A great era.
A great era. This was
peak Charles right here. You gave this
a six, Charles. Have you watched Black
Adams since? I have not.
But I will say, can I just
this.
Dwayne,
it hurts me to say this, bro.
It hurts me.
Personal friend,
Dwayne.
But here's my thing,
Dwayne.
I never broke character.
I never broke character,
bro.
I was writing for you.
But,
dog,
we can't be opening the books
and shit for motherfuckers being like,
actually,
like,
if you do the math,
we're gonna be,
like,
nah,
bro.
Like, come on,
man.
Like,
I can't stand next to that shit.
I look crazy out here.
Yo.
Dog.
What?
I can't believe he went outside like that, man.
Come on, man.
Like, dog.
I can't give this movie a six anymore.
I think I got to bump it down to a five, and even that's me being nice.
Like, I'm really broke the hearty.
Like, here's the thing, man.
Give it a four.
He also, you was like, we bring it back Henry Cabo.
We bring it back Henry Capo.
Whopty-wop.
Maw-y-fucking.
We, like, James Gunn is like, get that motherfucker out of here.
The movie didn't perform like that, bro.
Nah, fuck out of here.
makes me sad. Are y'all sticking with your scores?
I haven't seen it since. So I don't really have a real reason to change my score.
But I haven't watched it again. So I like, if I had watched it again,
but I don't have a real reason to change my score. I haven't watched a movie again.
I would, I haven't seen it either. Upon reexamination, I think honestly,
Dr. Fate really carried this movie a lot more than I thought.
He made, like, even like, forget the action scenes. Like, Pierce Brousin, like, was actually, like,
over performing for this movie.
Like he was overqualified for this.
And I think he really gave it something special.
Ashaj was like giving Hawkman like an actual turn here
that I was enjoying a lot more than I thought.
Dwayne did his thing.
Steve, what the hell are you saying?
I don't know what I'm saying.
I was looking at the point.
I was like,
I'm going to give it a six.
What are you doing?
Because I was going to be gold.
It's not going to be gold all the time.
You know what we need to go?
about Rockefeller records and whatnot,
Man, skateboard.
If Steve's not,
if Steve's not changing his score,
then we need to go to one of
Steve's other egregious scores.
Tales of the Jedi.
Ben and I gave it a nine,
Jome gave it an eight.
Can be off with you?
Are you sticking with a seven?
Yeah, I'm sticking with a seven.
Fuck out here, man.
I don't fucking get it.
Come on, man.
Y'all about to be mad at me.
You're going on?
I rewatched it.
I'm going up to a 10.
There we go.
I'm not mad.
Like, I'm going for it.
I rewit, the Tales of the Jedi is fucking amazing.
To me, I mean, so you guys didn't like the Asoka episode as much as I did, the baby one.
I like the baby one.
I really like the baby one.
It's cute.
She's a baby with the force fighting against tigers or whatever.
I thought Tales of the Jedi was great.
The dope.
The Dukele episodes with Quigar, like, come on that.
It was cool.
Hot, bro.
All right, so you budging Charles?
Are you budging Jome?
Here's the thing.
I still think it's a nine.
I think a nine is a very, very good score.
Jome?
Jomey, what makes it a for you?
What makes it a A for you?
That's what I'm struggling to wrap my head around
because the first Assook episode, you know, like, again,
it's my least favorite.
But the Duky stuff, the last episode of Yaddle,
all that was like legitimately, you know, excellent.
television and then the
last Rsook episode especially where
you know she defeats the Inquisitor without even
you know without a saber sure you know what I mean like
that's what I'm talking about when I think about like
Star Wars like this is what I like to see you know and so like
an 8 might have to be harsh honestly now I think about it
it's probably closer to a 9 I think I'd have to give it up to a 9
Steve's stick with a 7 that's nuts
you might think it's a tad unfair if I would judge it
a tiny bit for how accessible it is to somebody else
because we were deep in the bag for Andor at this point
and maybe I was a bit clouded by the fact that
somebody could know nothing about Star Wars
and this is still one of the best things you've ever seen
and knowing that you've got to sink your teeth into a lot of Star Wars
canon and lore and knowing that like you can't jump into this
like you got to know quite a bit
you got to stick with Clone Wars for quite a bit
you got to know a little bit about like so
like for that which didn't entirely compel me
but still knowing that it's like
Like it has value for Duku's arc.
If you don't give a shit about Duku,
like you kind of piss out of luck for this, for this thing.
I still stick with a seven.
I like it.
To be clear,
if we go back to the top of this episode,
you gave the Matrix Resurrections a seven.
You think the Matrix Resurrections and Tales of the Jedi are on the same level.
First of all, take that also take all of the other scores up with Van.
First of all, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, there's a lot.
There's a lot going on right here.
You just throw me under the bus.
I don't try to throw you on the reason.
You gave that shit a higher school than me.
You're, whoa.
You're talking to Charles right now.
Why are you throwing me under the bus?
We are forgotten about it over here.
Jesus Christ.
Dan, how does that knife in your back feel?
Jomi, what are you getting ready to say?
I'm sorry, bro.
You were like, if you don't really care about Duku,
then, you know, you're out of luck for this show.
Okay.
If I don't care about, you know, Miss Marvel
and I'm not going to watch Miss Bravo.
I'm like, man, that's how I love
Ms. Bravo in it. That sucks. Zero.
What are you talking about?
I don't understand what that means.
Wow, you went to Chelsea the Jedi
and Duke was in it. If you don't like Duke,
okay, and so.
Doesn't mean the story wasn't cool.
What are you talking about?
What does that mean?
It's a seven for me.
Oh, man, I went to see Avengers
and Iron Man was in it.
Boo, a three.
We all know that.
We all know that Tales of the Jedi
didn't make you feel like Avengers.
No, but like you can't go in and say like, who cares?
Do you not like Duku?
I feel fine about Duku.
So then why were you like, man, Duku's in this?
Steve is a hater, bro.
Steve is a hateer.
So we not like Duko.
Duku, I feel fine about Duku.
Fuck, fine about Dukes.
The fuck his life.
That's funny.
Steve, look.
Steve.
Yeah, Steve.
Feels like it's a seven.
It didn't connect as much.
It feels like it didn't.
That's fine.
It's not funny.
All right.
We only have two more left.
Black Panther Wakanda forever.
Van and Jomey gave it a 10.
Steve and I gave it an 8.
Anybody moving off their perch.
I'm not.
Go ahead, Steve.
Steve, do it.
Because we know you want to.
We know that the 8 was bullshit.
Give it a 6. Give it a 6.
No, damn, Steve.
Give it a 6.
The Ross shit was way, way, way out of left field.
The what?
The Everett Ross shit.
Okay, have you seen the movie again?
Yes.
Okay, so you didn't like it as much.
Tell us what you didn't like, Steve.
Honestly, it was the things that took away from it.
Like, the fact that we did not need Valentina in there, we did not need Ross.
Can I ask you a question, Steve?
Sure, sure, sure.
Honestly, honestly, did you feel at all pressured by your three black co-hosts and you wanted to hang?
so you originally gave it an eight.
This is a safe space, Steve, we're all here.
It's a safe space.
I watch it be yourself.
No, this is the best MCU
outing for theaters that we had
this year, for sure.
But it's not a eight anymore, you're sorry?
It is not an eight anymore.
It is a seven for me.
Jesus Christ.
Damn, Steve.
But, man, I don't know.
But we left the theater going on, like,
all the Vow stuff and raw stuff was dumb.
I didn't, like, on the second view and I was like,
hey, guess what?
We feel still feeling strong.
about Riri?
Still dumb.
Who felt strong about Riri?
Oh, so nobody felt strong.
Nobody.
Okay.
She's cool.
She's fine.
Actually, I got to be real.
I'm going to go with Steve.
I'm bumping it down to a seven because, like, the Batman's better than Black Panther
Wakanda forever.
It is.
Oh, not to me.
I can't give them.
Oh, fuck, no.
Not to me.
I think, you know what?
And I like Kugler.
Google is one of my favorite directors.
Jomi, let's just, let's bust this out.
Let's not even.
let's just do a graphic.
I would be really interested to know
what people, what people thought
was a better movie
out of the Batman
and
that's not even fair, bro.
Like, Wakanda Forever is still in theaters.
People still like, we haven't had that time
to be like, all right.
I think a lot of people would say the Batman.
I think it's a good comparison.
You think so?
I'm saying.
Yeah, I really do.
I think it's a good comparison.
I think Wakanda Forever is clearly better.
No.
I think, well, that's clearly better.
I think it's, none of the end of it's,
I said clearly.
I think it's solidly better for me.
But I think a lot of people would go back and forth on, like,
what movie was better?
Like, Wakanda Forever was long as shit to.
You know what I mean?
Talo Khan.
You know, but I really enjoy Wakanda Forever.
I really did.
Here's the thing.
I'm saying Wakanda Forever is not, like, a way worse movie than the best.
Batman, but just like, if I'm like, pick one or the other, I think the Batman is like the better
superhero movie of this year.
So let's talk about the actual filmmaking.
So the Batman has a better star, right?
And Robert Pattinson, yeah.
Robert Pattinson has a better.
Even just like, even just the performances of the cast.
I'm not saying it was a better cast, but I'm saying I think they got more like, like Colin
Farrell as the penguin, I didn't give a fuck about him before that shit.
And I was like, dog, he's cooking.
Like, I think, but I think you got to talk about.
Angela Bassett is Queen Remote.
You got to talk about so...
Namor really was that shit.
Namor was that shit.
Namor was good.
The Bullises and Black Panther,
Wiconda Forever,
were top flight.
No, I think the top of them were.
I don't think a lot of the cast was served
because there was just too many people in it.
They didn't get enough time to cook,
in my opinion.
What about...
Gagana.
No, Namor was fire.
Namor was fire.
I would say,
I would say,
Wakata Forever has the better villain.
I would rather watch Namor.
He's a star that was a star making performance.
I think how it was shot,
I think the Batman is a better shot film
than Wakanda forever.
And that's a lot of that has to do
with just how much CGI.
Yeah, I think it's kind of a wash there.
I think they both look great.
I mean, I think the black,
I think this is a really good argument
because you make some good points.
I actually, not out of think about it,
the Batman, it looks,
it looks breathtaking,
but it's a very dark movie.
Whereas,
You know, I don't know.
It's bright and shiny in Wakanda Forever.
If we had to compare the films, they're very different movies,
but I think it's a good comparison.
It's hard.
I liked Wakanda Forever better, but like the more you talk,
the more I'm like, well, if we just compare them on the filmmaking.
Well, I'll ask you this.
I emotionally felt more watching Wakanda Forever.
I don't think that means that it's a better film,
but I will say that, like, I cared about Wakanda Forever more,
but like as an artist I looked at the backman
emotions riding in Wakanda Forever
We use that as a quet sometimes about how well the movie was made
I get with what you guys are saying and I agree
But still though Wakanda Forever was a really well made
Well active absolutely
It was but like let's do this
I'm not even trying to no dis
But like let's just take the central heroes
Batman versus the new Black Panther
You can't take anything away from Patton
He killed that shit
You know what I'm saying like that was like that was like
Like, I mean, but part of the new Black Panther's thing is the emotion, right?
Part of it is like her coming to grips with the fact that her brother's gone.
And now she has to be the one to carry that mantle.
Right.
Like, you can't extrapolate that from the performance just off.
You know, we can't put that in a vacuum because that's what makes the performance so nuanced and well done.
You know, so I don't think, I think it's unfair to take that away in terms of talking about both of those characters.
Yeah, I agree.
I agree.
Healthy debate.
I think that would be a good one.
Like, which,
because I think those are the two best superhero movies of the year when you guys say,
Wakanda forever.
Yeah, I feel both sides, though.
If you're like, I like to Wakanda forever more, I'm like,
yeah.
Yeah, that's not a crazy thing to say.
I'm like, I could see it.
Yeah.
And here's the thing.
Our last one is Andor.
Is anybody moving off of 12?
I'm not.
Hell no.
I'm not.
I want to see one of y'all motherfuckers have the unmitigated gall
to come at my end,
Andor.
To come down on Andor.
Andor is the best.
Andor is so good.
It's like,
Andor is that crack,
that hair on and positive stuff too.
We always talk about things being great
as being so negative.
That's crack.
No, what about is roses?
It's a cupcake.
It's cookies on a Sunday morning.
It's cookies on a Sunday.
There you go, Steve.
It's cookies on a Sunday morning.
Andor, it really, it's a real.
assessment of so much about
this stuff that we love, don't you guys think?
Agree. It really
brought to the forefront how
good these Disney
Plus shows can be. Like, we go through
the lists, you know, we talked about
tells the Jedi Moon Knight, Miss Marvel,
you know, like Obi-Wan Kenobi.
And we're just like, dog,
you know, we were, you know,
it's like Christmas, year after year, we were served
of coal this year. We finally
got diamonds, bro.
we finally ended you with diamonds dog
it was nice it was a nice change of pace
to you know not be feeling like
ah we gotta get on here
talk about the show that not everybody's feeling
we got our hand we loved every second of it
it was great it was nice
I'm looking forward to what if season two
I don't know about you
I am I'm tapped in
I'm tapped at I'm looking forward to
what if season two look
if we did a midnight mulligan's fool
I am disgusted
I am disgusted
you have to run Van but before we
go, who gets the Master Mulligan Award?
If we go through our most egregious, Van, you had,
Van, you went from a two for the Matrix Resurrection to an eight.
An eight. Jomey?
Incredible.
Legitimately incredible.
Thor Love and Thunder.
You had a nine and you went to a six.
What is Steve's most egregious one?
Steve is pretty consistent.
Steve is just a hater.
We got to talk about it.
Steve is pretty consistent.
I would say Steve's, I think Black Panther is Steve's worst
why I'm looking.
Steve is pretty consistent though, bro.
And it's really just more of like, okay, we're fine-tuning this.
Steve is a six, like a six-seven player, bro.
Yeah.
You know what I'm saying?
Like everything is six or seven.
I think I'm looking, Steve.
Steve is a hard grader, dog.
This is why I don't get why people get at me.
Steve is just as harsh as eye.
Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, hold on.
Steve went, he did go from 11, which we have to remember.
what an 11 is. Both Steve and Jomey went from an 11. They went from Winter Soldier.
That's true. Two and eight to an eight on the way home. Yes, that's a big one. That's a big one, but we all knew that that was a big drop off for all of us. Like that, that's not that crazy. I think my biggest drop off was probably Moon Knight being a seven to a five. Like, that's my harshest drop. Damn. So it's it's Van or Jomey. And I got it. I have to go, I'm going to be honest, I have to go with Jome because of Thorla.
Love and Thunder shit is so funny.
Like it is like a 9. It's really funny.
Because like this thing, we knew that Van was going to be coming way up.
Yeah, like it's like I'll give him.
A.
See it.
And eight.
Nah, but Jomey you gave that shit a nine, bro.
What were you thinking that day?
It's all,
it's always having the hindsight of Thorloaf and thunder and be like, wait,
Jomey gave that a nine?
I honestly don't remember that.
I need to pull up the, pull up the footage, Steve.
I honestly think it was deep fake.
I don't think that was me.
Yeah.
All right.
That was a fantastically fun show to do.
That is a wrap.

Mulligans is a wrap.
I'm thinking we did
pretty fine, except for
Van giving the Matrix an 8
and Joe be giving Thor
a fucking nice.
It's real funny, huh?
A lot of jokes.
Okay, real quick, before we go, because I got to go.
But real quick, before we go, look at this.
Let's do what if.
And let's look at the episodes.
Because what if gets kind of a raw deal?
No, which is not.
It gets a perfectly adequate deal from what it did.
Okay, so let's look at what if.
All right, these are the episodes of what if.
I'll just want you to say good, bad.
All right.
Okay.
I want you all to say good, bad when I...
Gotcha.
What if, okay.
Number one, what if Captain America were the first Avenger?
God awful.
Bad.
Okay.
What if Tachala became Star Lord?
Good.
What if the world lost its mightiest heroes?
Bad.
Really?
When all the Avengers are being killed off
and you find out that it's Pim?
Don't care.
Oh, it was yellow jacket, right?
It was yellow jacket.
Oh, right.
That one was good.
That was good.
That was good.
That was good.
That was good.
What if Dr. Strange lost his heart instead of hands?
Good, good.
What if zombies?
Well, whoa, whoa, whoa.
I don't want to watch, I don't want to watch Dr. Strange
The case of the fridge.
I don't want to watch that.
The fridge and, okay, fine, fine, fine.
I like, I like.
I like, well, I like.
I like that shit.
Okay.
What if zombies?
Good.
Good.
What if Kilmager rescued Tony Stark?
Bad.
Bad.
Okay.
What if Thor were an only child?
Bad.
Bad.
Bad.
What if Ultron won?
Good.
Bad.
Good?
What if the Watcher broke his oath?
Bad.
I would also say good.
Good.
So to me, you had two clunkers in there.
And by the way, I like the,
nah, the Kilmonger one sucks.
I'm not going to call me.
Oh, no.
It's anime.
The Kilmars going to sucks.
I'm not going to even care.
So I'm telling you, the majority of the show to me was good.
And plus, that show represents a special time in Midnight Boys history to me.
Like, we were...
You're in the trenches.
We're in the trenches.
We survived.
