The Rosary in a Year (with Fr. Mark-Mary Ames) - Day 213: Advocate, Queen, and Mother
Episode Date: August 1, 2026Fr. Mark-Mary encourages us to build a personal, relational prayer life by connecting intimately with the Blessed Virgin Mary. He invites us to imagine ourselves stepping into St. John’s ho...me, sitting at a simple table with Mary, and resting in a space filled with love, comfort, and open conversation. Mary is not a distant or silent figure, but a present and responsive mother who offers encouragement, guidance, and compassion through God's grace. Today’s focus is the mysteries of the Transfiguration and Institution of the Eucharist and we will be praying two decades of the Rosary. All right, friends, welcome back to our journey of prayer here.
So we are building up the decades today, continuing our practice of the habit of praying
in relationship and being attentive to and just practicing and experiencing these ways in which we can be in relationship with Father's son and Holy Spirit and come to them in unique particular ways to the whole Trinity.
today we're going to practice praying while in relationship with Mary.
And to be honest, like this is one of the most kind of graced takeaways already of my
rosary in your journey is kind of going back to that first week and just really have an
experience of being like in St. John's house and being there with Mary.
And relating to her as I think St. John would have.
with love and affection with compliments with my acts of service and honor towards her
but at the same time just being able to sit at the table with her and receive her love
to share and to kind of speak freely and to ramble on if I want to knowing that she loves
just hearing everything that I say and share but that she's not just like a passive receiver
listener, like she is mother and queen, and able to respond through God's grace kind of perfectly
to whatever I need. She's not a statue. She's a mother who has agency and ability and a role
to be a compassionate and helpful mother, to love me, to fight for me, to encourage me, to comfort me,
to coach me. And so what we invite you to do is just to, if you can yourself, find a seat at the
table with Mary. Certainly you're free to choose your space for me. I kind of have an image of
what that house would have looked like with kind of a simple floor and wood table and
exposed stone. And just as you sit here with Mary, notice how much you love her and want to
love her and notice how much she loves you and wants to love you. So with whatever comes to your
heart if it is just love and affection, honor. We can remain there if you want to share something
with her. Feel free to do that if you need to entrust something to her. But grateful for the reality
of this relationship and how we can access it through the power of the Holy Spirit. Let us pray.
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen. The fourth, luminous mystery
is the transfiguration. Our Father, who art and
heaven, hollowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass
against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, amen. He'll Mary full of grace,
