The Rosary in a Year (with Fr. Mark-Mary Ames) - Day 225: Bring It to Jesus
Episode Date: August 13, 2025Continuing the focus on intercessory prayer, Fr. Mark-Mary invites us to bring the intentions on our hearts directly to Jesus. He encourages us to imagine the Lord drawing near—whether to rejoice wi...th us, to comfort us, or simply to be present with love and power. With trust in Christ’s nearness and care, we are called to lay down our intentions and enter prayer with openness and faith. Today’s focus is the mysteries of the Crowning with Thorns and the Carrying of the Cross and we will be praying two decades of the Rosary. I'm Father Mark Mary with Franciscan friars at the renewal, and this is the Rosary in a Year podcast.
We're through prayer and meditation.
The Rosary brings us deeper into relationship with Jesus and Mary and becomes a source of grace for the whole world.
The Rosary in a Year is brought to you by Ascension.
This is Day 225.
To download the prayer plan for Rosary in a Year, visit ascensionpress.com forward slash rosary in a year or text R-I-Y-Y.
to 33777.
You'll get an outline of how we're going to pray each month,
and it's a great way to track your progress.
The best place to listen to the podcast is in the Ascension app.
There are special features built just for this podcast
and also recordings of the full rosary with myself and other friars.
I encourage you to pick up a copy of the Rosary in a Year prayer guide,
a book published by Ascension that was designed to complement this podcast.
You'll find all the daily readings from scripture,
St. Reflections, and beautiful images of the sacred art
will be reflecting on.
Today we will be praying with the third and the fourth, the sorrowful mysteries,
the crowning with thorns, and the carrying of the cross.
And we're continuing to practice now praying with intentions.
We're going again through these next couple episodes, the persons of the Trinity,
the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
And today we're going to be praying with the person of Jesus.
And there's a couple ways this can happen, right?
We can bring this person in or this intention to the Lord in kind of the first century
setting or you can experience Jesus coming to you, to that person, to that situation, and just
being there. And perhaps if it's a particularly difficult situation, we can kind of be reminded of
Jesus in the boat during this storm. His power, but also just he cares. Like he's not indifferent
towards any situation or any suffering. Perhaps the intention is you want to give thanks for something.
and so you can bring that person or that situation to Jesus and rejoice in it with him.
Perhaps you like Mary, the sister of Lazarus, when I come and just to cry with Jesus.
So whatever it is, we'll call to mine the situation, the intention, and bring it to him.
And like yesterday, we'll go ahead and have two intentions, so a different one for each decade.
Now let us pray.
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen. The third, Sarafel Mysteries, the crowning with thorns. Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day
our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, amen.
