The Rosary in a Year (with Fr. Mark-Mary Ames) - Day 231: The Finding of Jesus in the Temple and Baptism of Jesus
Episode Date: August 19, 2025Fr. Mark-Mary leads us in prayer by drawing our hearts to two powerful scenes in the life of Christ. We are invited to ponder the mystery of Jesus being found in the temple and His baptism at the Jord...an, both moments filled with identity, purpose, and divine love. As we meditate on these events, we are reminded of our own call to draw near to the Father and live in the light of His presence. Today’s focus is the mysteries of the Finding of Jesus in the Temple and Baptism of Jesus and we will be praying two decades of the Rosary. You'll find all the daily readings from scripture,
St. Reflections, and beautiful images of the sacred art
we'll be reflecting on.
Today we'll be praying with the fifth joyful mystery
and the first luminous mystery,
the finding of the child Jesus in the temple
and the baptism of our Lord at the Jordan.
And as we pray with the finding of Jesus in the temple,
we see Jesus,
12-year-old boy
amongst all of the teachers who sit and listen with awe
and the way in which Mary and Joseph
searched for him with love
and this deeper revelation
this revelation of the fullness of the identity of Jesus
as son of the father
who must be in his father's house
as we pray with the baptism of Jesus
we see
John the Baptist at the River Jordan
assenting to
baptizing Jesus
though he knows he is not worthy
to untie the strap of his sandal
and then we see right
the heavens rent open
the descent of the Holy Spirit
and the father's voice
behold
this is my beloved son
in whom I am well pleased
go ahead and take a moment become recollected
and now we can pray in the name of the father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit
amen the fifth joyful mystery is the finding of the child Jesus in the temple
our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
