Today we will be praying
the sorrowful mysteries.
Let us begin in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen.
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ,
His only Son, our Lord, who's conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary.
Suffered under Pontch's Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to hell.
On the third day, he rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness
of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting, amen.
For Holy Father's health and intentions, our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass
against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil amen for an increase in the
theological virtues of faith hope and charity hail mary full of grace the lord is with thee
blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb jesus holy mary mother of god pray for us

now and at the hour of our death amen glory be to the father and to the sun and to the holy spirit
as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be world without end amen
the first sarah mystery is the agony in the garden and the piece of sacred art we looked at by
vincente masip entitled jesus and gessimini we encountered jesus praying in the
garden undergoing his agony while Judas with a like a halo if you will that was half gold and
half black is leading the soldiers to him and we see here in like the half gold halo of
Judas that there's still time right there's still time for him to repent there's still time for
him to change course even after betraying Jesus there was time for him to return to him and
beg his mercy.
Like my brothers and sisters, wherever we are, if we have a slightly darkened halo,
if we're on our way towards sin, like we can turn, we can repent, we can change course.
If we've fallen, we can return to him and his mercy.
My brothers and sisters, there's hope for us to turn to him.
Let us see his agony in the garden and obtain the grace for a deeper repentance
and a more profound throwing of ourselves upon the mercy of Jesus.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil, amen.

is now and ever shall be world without end. Amen. O my Jesus, forgive us our sin, save us from
the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.
The second sorrowful mystery is the scourging at the pillar. In Isaiah chapter 53, we read about
the suffering servant it says surely he has borne our grief he was wounded for our transgressions
and with his stripes we are healed let's behold the fulfillment of the suffering servant
who is wounded for our transgressions and by whose stripes you and i are healed
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallow be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

Amen. O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to
heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy. The third sophimistry is the crowning with thorns.
During Jesus' trial pilot compromises. His concern wasn't justice, but self-preservation. And recall
venerable Archbishop Fulton Sheen's words. If guilty, Pilots should have condemned him to death.
If innocent, he should have released him. Instead, he tries to compromise by having him scourged
and crowned with thorns. The cost of his compromise was the scourging and crowning of thorns
of our Lord. My brothers and sisters, let's not compromise. Let's not water down the truth.
let's not compromise the truth
and especially let's not try and strike
some sort of deal with sin
our father who art in heaven
hallowed be thy name
thy kingdom come
thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven
give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass

hell and lead all souls to heaven especially those in most need of thy mercy the fourth sorrowful
mystery is the carrying of the cross as we've seen and reviewed the carrying of the cross right
it has this really striking old testament parallel and we see this in the book of hebrews chapter 13
verse 12. So Jesus also suffered outside the gate in order to sanctify the people through his own
blood. Here Jesus is being led outside the city to his crucifixion, bearing the sins of all people.
As we pray, my brothers and sisters, behold the divine scapegoat, behold the Lamb of God,
carrying the cross, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.

especially those in most need of thy mercy.
The fifth sorrowful mystery is the crucifixion.
Concluding our rosary, let's return to Pietro Gagliardi's fresco of the crucifixion,
which depicts a rainbow above this sorrowful mystery.
If you don't remember it, I really encourage you to go back to it's profoundly beautiful.
And in the rainbow, right, this reminds us the crucifixion.
It's the fulfillment of God's promise.
Death will not have the last word.
Life does.
Just as the rainbow signified life to Noah,
the cross is the symbol of ultimate victory.
And the cross is the symbol of life and of new life
and of ultimate victory for us.
whatever sorrows we are experiencing, whatever sufferings,
whatever, if you will, sharing in the cross and the crucifixion of our Lord,
let the Lord's own cross be cope.
The cross, right?
It's the symbol of life and of new life and of ultimate victory for all of us.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallow be thy name,
thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is,
heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who
trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen.
