The Rosary in a Year (with Fr. Mark-Mary Ames) - Day 355: The Glorious Mysteries
Episode Date: December 21, 2025Fr. Mark-Mary draws us into the Glorious Mysteries, reflecting first on the Resurrection as the definitive victory over death. He then considers the Ascension as the culmination of Christ’s self-emp...tying, urging us to imitate his humility. At Pentecost, the Holy Spirit’s fire becomes a source of renewal for hearts grown weary. The Assumption highlights Mary’s childlike trust, which becomes a powerful defense against evil. Finally, in the Coronation, Mary’s unique grace as Queen and Mother strengthens us to do the Father’s will. Today's focus is the Glorious Mysteries, and we’ll be praying the full Rosary. the second glorious mystery is the ascension he who ascended first descended right he emptied himself
he who now right sits at the right hand of the father first right though he was in the form of god
he did not deem equality with god something to be grasped that rather he what he emptied himself
and took the form of a slave being born in the likeness of me
this is what St. Paul says about Jesus. This is the pattern of his life. First he descended,
right? He emptied himself. And then he ascended. And we see this in a certain sense with our lady
who descended in the sense of like sacrificed her own will, took on a role of radical receptivity
and dependence, be it done unto me according to your word. And she refers to herself and her magnificat
as the lowly handmaiden of the Lord. And then she is assumed right into heaven. Seeing John
the Baptist. He must increase. I must decrease. So the pattern of Christ modeled, right, live by
our lady by St. John the Baptist. This is our pattern. We who wish to ascend with him. To be with
him in glory must first descend as he descended. What does this look like for us? I'll say first
and foremost, it's this dying to ourselves. Whoever wishes to find his life will lose it. The
sacrifice of our own will, our own immediate preferences. And that's the idea of like we who
will lower ourselves now, who put others first now, we will ultimately find the most profound
and rich fulfillment of all of our desires, not grasped by ourselves, but given to us by the
Lord. As we pray this mystery, let us be open this day to a deeper,
sacrifice of our own wills, kind of a deeper conversion of away from selfishness towards
generosity and charity, but that we who freely lose our lives here in Christ will find it
so that we too may join our Lord in heaven and glory where he is seated at the right
hand of the Father. Our Father who art in heaven, hallow be thy name. Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners. Now and at the hour
of our death, amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed are thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, amen.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
is now and ever shall be, world without end, amen.
O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven,
especially those in most need of thy mercy.
The third glorious mystery is the sense of the Holy Spirit to Pentecost.
The Holy Spirit descends in the form of fire.
The day of Pentecost, they saw these tongues of fire.
And scripture tells us that God is a consuming fire, and this is a theme,
going back to perhaps like the burning bush right and i think that this is obviously not by
accident that god reveals himself and comes to us in times in the form of fire this fire that
burns which consumes which purifies which warms and so we come today with our lady asking for
more of the Holy Spirit, and asking for more of this fire.
And we bring to this time of prayer, particularly any parts of our, of our heart, that have grown
cold.
Perhaps, for example, like, if we've experienced a lot of dryness in prayer, there can be
like a discouragement or maybe any struggles in the faith, even in some relationships where
there is some apathy, some indifference, or some coldness.
Let's just ask for the Holy Spirit to come, to ignite us again.
She has a new zeal, a new, maybe energy, a new and like deeper burning,
burning with his own love, particularly a burning for Almighty God and union with him
and for his will to be done in our lives.
our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us
and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil amen hail mary full of grace the lord is with thee blessed are thou thou
among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God.
Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, mother of God.
Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.
Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed
is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God. Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour
of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary,
Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed are thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed are thou among women.
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Now and at the hour of our death, amen.

Amen. Oh my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven,
especially those in most need of thy mercy. The fourth glory's mystery is the assumption of Mary.
There's a fresco we looked at that can be found in the church of Santa Maria del Orcto in Rome.
And it's an image of Our Lady's Assumption. And under Our Lady, there is a cherubes.
I think you can describe it as gently slain, the dragon beneath Mary.
Kind of a funny contrast there to be gently slain.
But I think that's what the image portrays.
And I think it's beautiful.
And I think it's a perfect image of Mary's power.
Right?
It's this childlike power that we hear Jesus speak about in the Gospels.
Total and complete trust.
Allowing the father to care for her and protect her.
this like radical surrender it's like the perfection of being a daughter and i think that um this cherub slain the
dragon like is iconic of that there's the simplicity the childlikeness the dependence the trust
but also the power and just this reality that like our identity it is like a holy weapon it's a holy shield
and living in our identity, remaining there does, in our own individual lives, like,
it fights off temptation. You could say it like slays the dragon. It allows Christ in us to conquer
Satan and his and his attempts on us and our souls. So as we pray this mystery, let's go ahead and
like ponder, contemplate that little cherub slaying the dragon.
Perhaps kind of imagine us as little sons, little daughters,
slain Satan in all of his sort of works and efforts and false promises in our lives.
And we look at Mary, like the lowly handmaidant of the Lord.
And we rejoice.
We rejoice in her victory.
We rejoice in her assumption.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the,
fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour
of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among

as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end, amen.
Oh, my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven,
especially those in most need of thy mercy.
The fifth glorious mystery is the coronation of Mary's queen of heaven and earth.
As queen of heaven, Mary has received a particular, we use the language of singular grace.
St. John Damascene, when we read on his writings, he reminds us that Mary's set-apartness,
it's for like a special reason right and we get to benefit from it like her blessing her particular
blessing overflows and becomes a blessing for the rest of us in mary we have our queen and our mother
and she wants to draw us to her son her greatest desire and where her greatest like intercession is
directed is to helping us and to helping us like do the father's
will. And so now as we pray, we come to Mary to our queen and our mother with confidence,
begging for the grace, for an increase in strength and capacity to do the Father's will,
and an increase in desire for him and for union with Him. Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallow be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us
and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil amen hail mary full of grace the lord is with thee blessed are thou among women and blessed is

especially those in most need of thy mercy.
Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope.
To thee, do we cry poor banished children of view?
To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn then most gracious advocate thine eyes of mercy towards us, and after this our exile.
show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb Jesus.
O clement, O loving, a sweet Virgin Mary, pray for us,
Most holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray, O God, who's only be aught and Son,
by his life, death, and resurrection is purchased for us the rewards of eternal life.
Grant we beseech thee that meditating upon these mysteries
of the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary,
we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise through the same Christ,
our Lord.
Amen.
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen.
All right, thanks everyone for joining me and praying with me today.
I look forward to continuing this journey with you again tomorrow.
