The Rosary in a Year (with Fr. Mark-Mary Ames) - Day 358: The Glorious Mysteries
Episode Date: December 24, 2025We begin the Glorious Mysteries, returning to St. Augustine’s reflection on the Resurrection: a doorway to new life was opened in the Resurrection, that we ourselves share in through our baptism. Ju...st as we enter into the Resurrection through our Baptisms, the Ascension too is a promise about our future destiny, as Fr. Mark-Mary explains Jesus is giving us the promise we’re meant to join him in heaven. In the Descent of the Holy Spirit, Jesus sends us the Spirit to accompany us, and sends us another promise in the form of Mary’s Assumption. Finally, Fr. Mark-Mary reflects on the beautiful love of God revealed in Mary’s coronation. Today's focus is the Glorious Mysteries, and we’ll be praying the full Rosary. Let us begin in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
I believe in God the Father Almighty creator of heaven and earth
and in Jesus Christ his only son our Lord who is conceived by the Holy Spirit
born of the Virgin Mary suffered under punch the pilot was crucified die
and was buried he descended to hell on the third day he rose again from the dead
he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty
from there he will come to judge the living and the dead
I believe in the Holy Spirit the Holy Catholic Church the communion of Saint

Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
The first glorious mystery is the resurrection. Here's St. Augustine's words we read back on day
124. Such is the power this sacrament holds. This is referring to baptism. For it is a sacrament of
new life, a life which begins in this world by the remission of past sins and which will be
perfected in the resurrection of the dead. Then he quotes St. Paul's letter to the Romans,
we were buried therefore with him by baptism into death so that as Christ was raised from the dead
by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. Through the resurrection,
like Jesus brings a newness of life. And as St. Augustine mentions, by baptism, we share in his
death as we like plunge into the waters and we already share in his resurrection as we rise right
and so we already experience the life of god in us and we could say we already are tasting
the first fruits of the resurrection here and now so as we pray this decade let us pray for this
grace to live according to the newness of this life to live according to our destiny is those
who already have a foretaste of the resurrection and who are called not just to a newness of life,
but in an eternal newness of life by sharing ourselves in the resurrection. May we who have
this hope, this hope again we already share in through our baptism. May we live here and now
already as men and women confident of victory and therefore as men and women of joy
our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is
in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive
those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from
evil. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and
blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God. Pray for us sinners now and at the
hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end, amen.
O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell,
and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.
the second glory's mystery is the ascension as jesus ascends right he's seated for all eternity at the right hand of the father in glory in victory in majesty
and we celebrate that we rejoice in that in addition what i want to emphasize and we'll pray with again today
is what this means for us it's important that we don't view
the ascension as Jesus going away.
But if you remember all the way back, quoting Pope Benedict the 16th,
Jesus becomes present to us in a new way,
in a way which in our own prayer, we can have the experience
of him looking at all of us, individually making eye contact, if you will,
with all of us, giving his total attention, his ear to all of us.
Jesus is totally and completely present available to each of us.
So as we pray, perhaps we can place ourselves in the throne room where he sits on the throne
and see him looking at you, see him attentive to you, see him knowing you, see him listening to you,
see you giving all of his love, all of his power, all of his grace, like, to you,
as an individual uniquely.
Jesus Christ is enthroned in glory.
He has ascended.
And our glorified Lord is attentive.
I want you to look at him, to speak to him,
to share your heart with him.
Let's give him this gift.
Let's pay him homage in this way as we pray.
Our Father, who arts in heaven,
hallow be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil amen hail mary full of grace the lord is with thee blessed are thou among women

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now an ever
shall be world without end amen oh my jesus forgive us our sins save us from the fires of hell and lead all souls to heaven
especially those in most need of thy mercy the third glorious mystery is the descent of the holy spirit
on pentecost the book of ezekiel chapter 36 verse 26 reads like this a new heart i will give you and a new
spirit i will put within you and i will take out of your flesh the heart of stone and give you
a heart of flesh a new spirit i will put within you as we pray we come before the lord in prayer with
our lady begging again for an even deeper outpouring of the holy spirit in our life
that we may fully be transformed and filled with,
animated by the Holy Spirit, this new spirit.
And that part of the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives
may be the giving to us of a new heart.
If we have stony hearts, hardened hearts, wounded hearts,
fearful hearts, heart covered in resentment,
we bring this to the Lord and we ask to be washed over anew by the Holy Spirit we ask that the
Holy Spirit may be a balm and anointing and oil where we are wounded come Holy Spirit
come Holy Spirit let's pray again for a deeper openness docility
movement of the Holy Spirit in our lives,
and that this spirit may continue to transform our old hearts
into hearts that are like the hearts of Jesus.
Our Father, who art in heaven, howlode be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end, amen.
O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell,
and lead all souls to heaven, especially those,
in most need of thy mercy.
The fourth glory's mystery is the assumption of Mary.
Those of us who follow Jesus,
those of us who trust Jesus,
aren't promised to be protected from suffering in this life.
It doesn't mean we won't experience difficulty
and loss and hurt.
But it does mean that the law
the hurt, the tears won't have the final word.
Those of us who trust Jesus and follow him
will never trust him in vain.
And we see this with Mary.
All right, no one was a more perfect disciple,
more perfectly trusting than Mary.
And she suffered deeply.
But the suffering doesn't,
have the final word. She who most deeply mourned was comforted. She who hungered and thirsted
for righteousness is satisfied. She who is the most pure of heart sees God. As we pray
this fourth glorious mystery. May we who, like Mary did on this earth, follow Jesus,
trust Jesus but suffer, be strengthened with the theological virtue of hope, the Holy Spirit
given virtue of hope that we see at work in Mary's assumption. And may we be reaffirmed by this
grace that those of us who trust Jesus and hope in Him do not hope in Him in vain. But life
and joy and glory will have the final word in our life as they
do in the life of Mary, who now is in glory with her son.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those
who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed are thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

for us sinners. Now and at the hour of our death, amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed are thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners. Now and at the hour of our death, amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy sinners.
thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death,
amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women, and blessed
is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour
of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace.

and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

spirit as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be world without end amen oh my jesus forgive us our sins save us from
the fires of hell and lead all souls to heaven especially those in most need of thy mercy
the fifth glorious mystery is the coronation of mary's queen of heaven and earth there's a painting we
looked at by the artist diego velasquez which depict
the coronation of Mary, and also in the painting, right, it certainly is Our Lady, but also there is
the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, all of the persons of the Most Holy Trinity there.
And so he depicts this event, this moment in Salvation History, as a work of the whole Trinity,
and I think there's something really beautiful about that.
As I noted before, is that Mary has a unique relationship to each of the persons of the Trinity,
daughter of the father, mother of the son. And then we've seen this language.
in the church's history, calling her the spouse
of the Holy Spirit.
And so the coronation
of Our Lady, it's not an event between
strangers,
but is a gift given by a father
to a daughter, a son,
to his mother,
the Holy Spirit, to
Our Lady, the Immaculate
Spouse.
I just find this profoundly
intimate and beautiful
and moving.
You know, it's not that Mary is, you know, on the
pedestal.
she just won the gold medal at the Olympics and now someone like she doesn't know comes and
you know places the metal around her neck this is an event's a gift given to her an honor to be
stowed by god by the most holy trinity who she loves above all other things and who is loved
so profoundly so deeply so totally by god
what to share in the beauty and the intimacy of this moment as we pray
our father who art in heaven hallow be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us
from evil. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at
the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among
women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary mother of God. pray for us sinners
now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Hail Mary full of grace. The Lord is with thee.
Blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God.
Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Blessed are thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

is now and ever shall be, world without end, amen. O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from
the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.
Hail Holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope.
To thee do we cry poor banished children of Eve.
To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn then most gracious advocate and eyes of mercy towards us.
And after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, a sweet Virgin Mary, pray for us, most holy mother of God,
that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray.
O God, who's only begotten Son by his life, death, and resurrection is purchased for us,
the rewards of eternal life.
Grant we beseech thee, that meditating upon these mysteries of the most holy rosary of the blessed Virgin Mary,
we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise to the same Christ, our Lord.
Amen.
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen.
All right.
joining me and praying with me today. I look forward to continuing this journey with you
again tomorrow. Poca, Poca, Poca, Poca, friends. God bless y'all.
