images of the sacred art we'll be reflecting on.
Today we'll be praying with the fifth Luminous Mystery, the institution of the Eucharist, Luke chapter 22 verses 14 through 23.
And our point of emphasis are going to be these words Jesus speaks,
given for you, poured out for you.
We'll be focusing on the for you part
of the institution of the Eucharist.
Begin with our Alexio.
When the hour came, he sat at table
and the apostles with him.
And he said to them, I have earnestly desired
to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.
For I tell you, I shall not eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God."
And he took a chalice, and when he had given thanks, he said, and divide it among yourselves, for I tell you that from now on I shall not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.
And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying,
This is my body which is given for you.
Do this in remembrance of me.
And likewise the chalice after supper saying,
this chalice which is poured out for you
is the new covenant in my blood.
But behold, the hand of him who betrays me is with me on the table. you is the new covenant in my blood.
But behold, the hand of him who betrays me is with me on the table.
For the Son of Man goes as it has been determined to put woe to that man by whom he is betrayed."
And they began to question one another which of them it was that would do this. Now, we'll enter into our time of meditatsu and engaging the scripture.
I want to highlight that who is here, right?
We have the apostles with him.
This is a particular that the apostles are with him.
Oftentimes, if you notice in the scriptures, it's more broad, the disciples.
But here it's specific, those who are with Him are the apostles.
And part of Jesus' heart here is being revealed, like, what is Jesus experiencing?
What is He feeling at the institution of the Most Holy Eucharist at the Last Supper?
I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.
There's this burning in the heart of Jesus.
Jesus burns to give himself to us.
Jesus burns to celebrate this Passover.
Jesus burns for his Father and his Father's will, and he burns for our salvation,
knowing that the completion of the Passover is going to be his passion, right?
Him himself being the priest and the lamb that is sacrificed.
It's not just like a cold reluctance.
It's a burning, deep desire to give himself for you.
Jesus takes the bread, gives thanks, gives it to them, says, this is my body given for you.
Do this in remembrance of me.
And this harkens back to the Old Testament, the Jewish sense of remembering,
which is more than just think of, but like do again, participate in again.
And likewise, the chalice, this chalice,
which is poured out for you is the new covenant in His blood.
We're going to kind of put this together
as we continue with our Alexio here.
That Jesus is speaking, right?
The bread of life, what's being revealed here
in the fifth Luminous mystery of Jesus, the bread of life, what's being revealed here in the fifth
Luminous Mystery of Jesus, the bread of life, who gives himself and remains to us, Emmanuel,
in this most holy sacrament. But he earnestly desires to give his body for you,
that his blood may be poured out the blood of the new covenant, but for you.
And so, this will be the focus here
as we continue our Alexia.
This is my body,
which is given for you.
This chalice,
which is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.
Perhaps in our time of meditation here we can, with our imagination,
just hear Jesus saying these words to us.
You might even place yourself in this scene.
This is for you.
This is for you.
Make eye contact with Jesus here at the Last Supper.
But you can also see Jesus throughout His passion saying this, for you, for you, for you. This is my body scourged for you. This is my head crowned for you.
This is my hand with nails in it for you. This is my blood poured out for you.
And I give myself in this sacrament. I remain in the tabernacle for you, for you, for you.
Because I earnestly desire to give myself to you and to receive you totally.
We'll continue another with Alexio.
This is my body. I'll continue another with Alexio.
This is my body,
which is given for you.
This chalice which is poured out for you
is the new covenant in my blood. This is my body given for you.
This chalice poured out for you.
For you.
Now we'll begin our time of a verazio of prayer, following our template.
Receive, respond, request, rejoice, receive the good news.
What is the good news being offered?
Jesus is the bread of life.
What is the good news being offered?
Here there's this particular revelation of the heart of Jesus for you, that Jesus burns
with love for you.
And He freely gives His life, gives His body to be broken for you.
He freely gives His blood to be poured out for you.
And He remains with us in the Most Holy Sacrament for you.
Let's move now into our response.
We begin with adoration and praise.
We thank you, Emmanuel, for remaining with us in the most beautiful and creative expressions
of your love for us.
We thank you for your heart, which burns for us.
We thank you, Jesus, for your body given for us.
We thank you, Jesus, for your blood poured out for us. We thank you, Jesus, for your blood poured out for us. We thank you for the new covenant
made with us by your blood, the blood of the Lamb of God. We adore you, Lord.
We adore you, Lord, for this burning fire of charity that you have for each of us.
And then what's the response to this good news?
What's our response?
Help us Lord to receive this gift.
That we are beloved of you Lord.
And that we are no longer our own.
That we belong to a covenant made in your blood, that we have been purchased by the blood of the Lamb poured out for each of us.
As you say, Lord, do this in remembrance of us,
we know in particular referring to the sacrament,
but also may we freely in response to you giving yourself for us,
give ourselves totally to You?
Can we live these words of St. Francis spoken, written to the order, to the community,
hold back nothing of yourselves for yourselves, so that He who gives Himself totally to you
may receive you totally.
You who give Yourself totally to us, Lord, may we respond by giving ourselves totally
to You.
Particularly, Lord, we ask for a greater gratitude for Your passion. We pray for a greater gratitude for this Most Holy Sacrament, for the Most Holy Eucharist, the greater reverence
for this Most Holy Eucharist. May we come to You in prayer more and more often, in adoration more and more often.
Now we'll move to requests. Lord, we just ask for this grace to respond to your Eucharistic love with our own love.
To love you totally if you have loved us totally.
To give ourselves totally to you who have given yourselves totally for us.
Increase in our hearts, Lord, we ask for the grace for an increased Eucharistic amazement.
May we receive more and more deeply to our minds and to our hearts the truth of our identity.
The truth of your beloved sons and daughters, for whom you burn with love.
And now we conclude with our time of Aratio with this rejoice and we just give you thanks
for this truth spoken again, Lord, over our hearts and to our lives.
We thank you for the gift of your passion. We thank you for being the
good shepherd who lays down his life for his sheep and who never abandons his flock but
remains a Manuel God with us. We bless you, we love you for this time of prayer and the
grace that is poured out, out Lord into our lives.
Now we'll conclude our days, Lexio, with our time of contemplato asking to receive deeply
Jesus's passion, Jesus's Eucharistic heart, which is for you.
Let us pray with our Lady here in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy
Spirit, Amen.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

All right, well that will conclude our time of praying
Alexio Divina together, but I certainly encourage you to
continue in silent prayer with God. If you feel called to do
so. Thank you so much, though, for joining me and praying with
me today. I look forward to continuing this journey with you
again tomorrow. Poco Poco, friends. God bless you all.
