They have this really cool thing when you watch a movie called X-Ray,
you can click on it as you're watching the movie and the cast will pop up and
you can see who all the actors are. And it sounds dumb,
but when you host a movie podcast, it's like the greatest thing ever.

Let's talk AFC title game.
So the game kicks off.
Josh Allen runs out to run that first possession.
He's got a big smile on his face.
I think he gives like two thumbs up off to the side.
And I'm thinking like, could this happen?
Could today finally be the day for Josh Allen with bills against the chiefs in the playoffs? First possession, he almost throws a pick on second down,
almost throws a pick on third down, three and out, they punt.
Kansas city goes 90 yards in five minutes, seven nothing.
And I'm like, you fucking idiot.
Why would you pick against my homes in Arrowhead in the playoffs?
Um, look, a lot of good things happened.
That wasn't the game.
A lot of good things happened for Buffalo in this game.
Next three plus hours, they get up 10, seven after Kansas
city's first turnover, like forever.
Um, that ball was when Kansas city fumbled it, it was at
Buffalo's 23 yard line.
So if you look at the first four possessions for the chiefs in the
first half touchdown fumble, but fumbled
at the 23, touchdown, touchdown.
So, I mean, that could have been 28 points the way
Casey was cooking on offense.
But you're still looking at the halftime score and
you're like, is it going to be 21-10?
Buffalo can't come back from that one, can they?
So, Benford's out.
This is after losing rapid safety. So that's two significant points. Buffalo can't come back from that one. Didn't they? So Benford's out.
This is after losing rapid safety.
So that's two significant parts of the secondary for Buffalo.
And then Elam in, no one's ever going to forget because Kansas City just went at this guy, wanted to make him retire by the time the game was over.
Just, I mean, they ran a clip, like they, they put together a bunch of clips of
how they were attacking him. They didn't even, they, they mean, they ran a clip. Like they, they put together a bunch of clips of how they were attacking him.
They didn't even, they, they had more they could
have gone to and some of the stuff that they were
doing and the challenges that he was facing and
the off coverage and just like right away, Kansas
city is like, okay, this is going to be a different
experience with Benford out with a concussion after
he was early in concussion protocol for the week.
But as bad as it's feeling, right, as bad as it's feeling throughout all that stuff, the
Bills go up 22, 21 in this, converting two fourth
downs, including the James Cook touchdown where he
reaches in for the end zone in a play that
unfortunately now because they lose will be
forgotten in the playoff history where if the Bills
had won this game and maybe even win a Superbowl,
that touchdown on that fourth down, the fact that
Cook was able to reach in before he was down and the go-to play
for the Bills here with Allen just sneaking and going to the left side,
essentially being controlled in a way that you've never really seen it controlled
by this Chiefs D line, like that play, even though the game gets off to the start,
they're down at halftime, we end up in this two point conversion hell.
You're like, look, the bills are up 22, 21.
A three and out from the Chiefs.
That's impossible.
A three and out against the Chiefs
and Arrowhead at a playoff game.
And I'm starting to feel it.
I'm texting my Bills fans.
I have a lot of Bills fans in my life.
I love my homes, all right?
But I wanted this game for my Buffalo people.
I'm noticing actually from my neck of the woods, greater Boston area, there's a lot of Boston people that kind of like Buffalo.
And I don't know if it's a sympathy thing.
I don't think it's like having a second team.
They like maybe it's some of the Mac Jones, Gerard Mayo transition years.
they like, maybe it's some of the Mac Jones,
Gerard Mayo transition years.
But if you're a certain age and you live through Buffalo losing four straight Super Bowls, which I
know most of you know, historically, I imagine a
large chunk of the audience is like, yeah, man,
we remember.
Um, I think you'd have to be pretty cold hearted
to not have some kind of like, remember how I
talked about Detroit where if you asked all the neutral people,
so non NFC North fanbases of other cities, right?
If you ask people about Detroit, you're like, you know,
I'd love to see Detroit pull this off and do it for that fan base.
I think most reasonable people would feel that.
I think you'd have to be really cold hearted.
Don't have some kind of sympathy for Buffalo and be thinking about their history
and trying to get through the Chief's narrow head
as they go up in this game.
You're like, is this possible?
Did this actually happen?
I have an unattractive friend.
It's known.
He knows it.
It doesn't get talked about, but it's just kind of understood.
He's not a great looking dude. And I was with one of my other friends years ago and we were having beers.
We were talking about nothing of significance.
There was an awkward pause.
And then he just said the guy's name that was unattractive and said, poor bastard.
And I just said, yep.
And that's all that had to be said.
You could argue that didn't even need to be said.
Right.
But I think that's how a lot of us feel about the business. We're not going to be able to do that. We're that's all that had to be said. You could argue that didn't even need to be said.
Right.
But I think that's how a lot of us feel about the bills and their history.
So I think they lost this game yesterday on fourth and one at the KC 41.
Granted, they still could want it.
Um, Alan goes left side.
The closer official has the ball spotted short of the first down marker.
The further official on the other sid spotted short of the first down marker.
The further official on the other sideline started past the first down, but you'll notice something.
And the refs all understand this and how they work with each other.
If the guy closer is spotting it shorter, the guy at the other end will usually kind of meet him
somewhere in the middle. Like he'll kind of work off of his initial point to then try to come to some kind of
consensus.
And I imagine the person on the ball side of the play is the one the other official
defers to.
And I think that's what we were seeing there.
Gene Steritor I thought was really good on this, but he also said he thought that it
was a first down by a third of the football.
I never saw a replay that showed that Alan had the first down.
I think there's an assumption at times where you're like, well, if his body's
here, the ball has to be here, so that should be a first down, but the replay
center didn't see enough to overturn this.
So the call on the field stands and this thing that is automatic, Alan on a
keeper, doesn't work again against this Chiefs D line.
I do enjoy Stere steritor throughout the broadcast
because sometimes it'd just be like, yeah, it's
a tough one, Jim.
You got anything else for us?
Yeah, it's a tough one.
But he was definitive on this one, even if it
didn't seem like there was a replay that showed
that the ball was a third past the first down
marker.
So even though you're like, well, they didn't really lose there, even though Kansas city, what,
five plays, touchdown 29, 22.
Well, it's because they tied it back up.
So, you know, as I say, I think that's where they, it just felt like if they convert that one,
they take up more clock.
You're not giving Kansas city the short field and a lot of, you know, assumptions throughout all of this,
but they convert another fourth and goal to make it 29-29.
And yet at this point, even though the score tells me this is a tie game, I'd
imagine a lot of you would agree with me.
It's like we were all just kind of waiting around to watch the Chiefs win.
As much as you held out hope, if you were a non Chiefs fan or just, you know, anybody
that has some sympathy for Buffalo or the Buffalo people in your life,
like I do, um, 29 a piece.
And then this is just the power of my homes.
If Buffalo had pulled this game out yesterday, I think the Jordan Phillips sack
of my homes to make it second and gold, the Buffalo 17 would be the play Bill's fans would remember for a really long time.
I mean, I know I already talked about the cook fourth down touchdown reach, but
that sack is now you're thinking you're going to hold Kansas city to a field goal.
When every time they've got another red zone, they score touchdowns at that point.
So they hold them to the field goal.
And at that point that bills are getting the ball back with 333 left, three, three timeouts.
And you're like, let's go.
And it gets stagnant immediately.
Fourth and five corner blitz.
Alan still somehow gets the ball to Dalton Kincaid.
This is an unreal, probably one of the most impressive things Alan did all game long.
Kincaid, it is a tough ask for him to pull down that ball, but he should have.
Um, and at this point, you just know, you know, the game's over and you knew
this bag, Noah was going to come up with something that was going to force the issue.
I thought Roma was pretty good on like guessing when he thought he would bring
pressure, not being pressure on the goal line situation, he was like, I think
he's going to pull out of this gym.
Um, in this case, he's like, you know, something is coming.
And in this case, it's something we had not seen.
No one had seen the entire game.
That's a corner blitz overloaded on Alan's right side.
Nick Bolton linebacker with the chief staff of the game said essentially that Spags
is like a pitcher setting up his curve ball the entire game.
And his curve ball was that blitz with two defensive backs.
And that was with Breer on his SI Monday morning piece.
So yeah, like I said, you're kind of just waiting around for the chiefs to pull this thing out.
I've picked against Mahomes four times, I believe in the playoffs. I'm one in three.
I feel dumber every time I do it.
That also means I've picked him 16 times.
So it's also kind of working out. I feel dumber every time I do it. That also means I've picked him 16 times.
So it's also kind of working out.
I guess I could just pick them 20, uh, which wouldn't be a bad way to go about doing business.
Josh Allen's four and one in the regular season against my homes.
He's oh, and four now in the playoffs.
Uh, I don't think that this is a legacy thing.
I think at this point for Allen, the only thing, as much as I joke about the
legacy updates with quarterbacks, the only thing that he could have done was
improve his legacy, not really diminish it unless he was just going to have a
disastrous game, but that's not what happened.
I mean, the Bills outgained the Chiefs.
They won the turnover margin plus one.
They were five of 14 on third downs, but they were four, six on fourths.
And it still wasn't enough to be Kansas city who's headed to their
fifth super bowl in six years.
Mahomes now seven years as a starter, seven AFC championship game appearances.
He's headed to his fifth super bowl.
As I mentioned, 17 and three, his first 20 playoff games.
Brady was 15 and five.
It's a lot because Philadelphia is really good.
We'll spend more time talking about Philadelphia and their win against Washington with Jeff Saturday.
So I don't want to do Monday show two weeks out
from the Superbowl just going like, yep, chalk it up.
Give my homes another one.
But if they get another one here, the first three Pete
in four and six years, I think it's impossible to come
up with a scenario where you can argue a different team with a different all time run can match what Kansas City has an opportunity to do here.
We'll do more on the NFC with you.
Every pass, every play, every prop at Super Bowl 59 and it's all happening on FanDuel. Bet on America's number one game
with America's number one sportsbook any way you want.
I'm talking spreads, live bets, over-unders,
player props, special props, and so much more.
The line sits at Kansas City minus one and a half.
49 and a half is the total on this one.
Another good week for the same game parlay.
So I don't have, I mean, look, it feels like I'm probably going to be picking
the chiefs, but what I'd like to try to figure out is an alt spread here was
something that I think is likely.
So if you wanted to go Kansas city plus three and a half, but Jaylen
hurts 200 more passing yards, that's plus one 26.
So the feeling being that hers is going to have to get the ball in the air to keep up with Kansas City.
Again, this is not an official play right now,
but it certainly feels a lot better
getting some points to Kansas City aligned
with something that is within reason.
Some of the sack props,
or if you picked the wrong receiver that week
and then you're just out of it.
But that's something I was looking at this morning,
messing around on FanDuel.

Based on a true story.
New season premieres tonight at 9 Eastern and Pacific.
Only on W. Stream on Stack TV.
Loved working with this guy back at ESPN.
He is back on TV throughout the football season.
So let's break it down.
We have our Super Bowl matchup at Jeff's Saturday talking conference championship games and
moving forward.
So I haven't done anything on Philly in the open yet.
We'll get to that.
Clearly the headliner is this Buffalo finding a way,
trying to find a way and they can't again.
Your biggest takeaway from that game and how Kansas City
continues to do this every single year basically.
I mean, situational football matters.
And I think people get lost in throughout the season.
I kept saying this, and I was defending myself on air over and over about the Chiefs.
And everybody was like, the point differential and all these different things and how much it really matters.
Rex Ryan's over there talking about there's no way a team that can do this and stay like this. Or and the truth is, is I played with a team that won, you know, 12 and 13 games
basically every season, and we would go match up with the Patriots who were doing
the same. And it all boiled down to execution and situations.
And they were masters at it.
We became masters at it again. We go to two Super Bowls. We win it. We became masters at it. Again, we go to two
Super Bowls, we win one, we lose one. You know, they win multiple and then have another
run, you know, kind of after we're all gone. But it boils down to making the plays in those
moments. And you saw, you know, the very end of the game, P Ryan slips out of the backfield,
they drop it off, they got man coverage,
they, you know, the defender's trying to run
through three guys, he can't, they convert.
The same thing, they got the right play,
Cooper early on has a play to make, they don't make it.
Allen to, you know, trying to make that throw
with the corner blitz, gets the ball there,
it's a tough catch, but you gotta catch it.
It's those moments, and the truth is is when you're that close in teams, the team that makes those plays ultimately
wins the game.
And the difference between the Chiefs and everyone else, they focus on those moments.
They don't get caught up in how fancy they are, what their scores look like.
A W is a W, bro.
And you know where that comes from?
And this is the part that no one ever gives credit,
tax it more.
That dude don't care if he throws for a buck 50
or for three 50.
If it's a W, he is a teen guy and it's what it is.
And I respect the heck out of the way they do it.
I respect the heck out of the way the Bills are doing it.
Unfortunately, they just hadn't found a way,
you know, to kind of exercise that demon of the chiefs in the playoffs.
Yeah.
This Alan Mahomes thing is becoming a bit like the Manning Brady thing.
And I think Peyton was what?
Oh, and six against Tom and the first six games.
And then ultimately he has a winning record three and two in the playoffs
against him getting those last couple in Denver.
When I was in Boston, you know, during that stretch, it was kind of funny because I think a lot of us felt
like Peyton was the more talented of the two quarterbacks. And then Tom ends up becoming,
Tom was a real story of not just success, but evolving. Peyton was out of the wrapper,
ready to go. And Tom, I think just over the years became like more and more dynamic.
And then he could give you the stats too.
Um, but those teams always had better defenses, but the reason I wanted to
bring this up was that I think sometimes when the results is different, when
Manning finally, you guys have that great comeback, you know, you win the
Superbowl and the whole thing.
And it's like, well, there was a sense in Boston where people talked about how
like Peyton had to change the way he played for you to win.
And I always kind of felt like, is, is that really the case?
Cause I think to the way the Boston guys would always want to knock is that Peyton
wants to throw for 300 yards and that's the only way he knows how to win.
And ultimately, although you had to score a million points that comeback,
um, that something had changed.
So you're already shaking your head.
So take me through the truth of what that matchup really was and how Peyton was able
to finally get some wins on his side.
Like to us, nothing changed.
I think one of the things I learned going to the Pro Bowls and, um, with Bill being
the coach or, you know, playing with those guys so often we'd sit around all it was uh we had to
we had to find a way their defenses were so good and i tell people all the time the first you know
two or three super bowls i mean not that Brady doesn't deserve credit for him because obviously
he did his part but those defenses were insanely good like i would tell you this all the famous at
every level and they would give you all kinds of freaking grief, right?
And they switched up and they were very complicated
and they would disguise as well as anybody.
And we were one of those teams,
we just kind of did what we did.
We didn't use a lot of motion,
we didn't use a lot of explosion,
like formations or personnel groups.
We kind of knew what we were
and we just tried to out execute.
Well, the situations became they started to kind of feel like we they knew what we were
going to go to.
And so it was it was OK, so if this is if this is what is going to be expected, how
do we how do we fight that?
So whether it's play action, whether it's run the ball when they're not expecting it,
all of those things.
But it was that we didn't change plays.
We didn't change who we were.
We just understood.
And I'll be honest with you,
we played them the opening game and we ran the ball.
We ran 14 and 15 belly,
which is what everybody calls inside zone now.
And we ran that play 36 times in a game. Like 36 times. Like in
the NFL, you might run a play five times in a game. It's a lot. 36 times. Like we just
kept calling it and kept calling it. And we, Ed Ransup, he fumbled the ball like on the
three yard line and we lost that game. But when we left and flew back, every one of us
in the plane knew and they knew we had them bro.
We just buckled right? We, you know, we had an unforced error. It's on us. That won't happen again.
But it changed our mindset and we could run it if we needed to. We could play action. We could hit
them with our pass game. And then from then on, we started beating them. Honestly, we beat them,
you know, for the championship at our place. And we kind of rolled a bunch together to make it a true rivalry where like you said they started out, you know
Demolishing us and then we kind of catching up. So that was the week one game then
Yeah, right. Yeah, yeah cuz he fumbles at the one
Like that, I mean you lost by three you missed the field goal after the fumble too.
Yeah.
And so it was like, you know, and we knew we were like, man, we got it.
So it just, you know, our mindset changed after that.
It was like, no more trying to trick, no, you know, we're going to line up and go play.
Um, and it just gave us confidence and, and, you know, the rest was kind of history.
Yeah.
I think this is a good transition though, because like, if you're Buffalo and you're sitting here going, we know we match up with these guys, right?
You wouldn't be beating them in the regular season.
I mean, when they're this good, if you didn't have a chance, they're really
the only team that beat them this year.
I could sit here and get particular about a couple of the play calls.
Like, I don't know if you should like the Allen sneak is so impressive
against everybody else and then they're loading up on the left side.
It was pretty clear. And you could tell that Romo and Nance are like, Hey, in the production meeting,
they knew he wants to go left.
They're putting all their size there.
And I mean, you look at the fourth down and the third down numbers, like it actually,
over the course of the game, it worked out for Buffalo.
So I have a hard time sitting here when you almost score 30 at their place.
Like I don't like some of your tendencies, but was there anything there?
Is there anything that you see that you're like, I wish they had done something
different?
I mean, the only thing I would
say is I would have tried to get the ball not on those particular plays like I get it you know like
on fourth and anxious man I'm with you it's just you know everybody's converting them and they're
converting them at an alarming you know alarming rate why not? James Cook, like I felt like,
kind of disappeared towards the latter part of the game.
I think maybe the last six or seven plays,
I'm not sure he had a touch.
And again, not that, you know,
maybe it didn't quite work out that way, right?
Like you got to go back and watch and kind of get the feel
and from a coordinating perspective.
But Cook's baller, right?
Like explosive, makes things happen.
I'm not comparing he and Saquon Barkley,
but I liken that to that same thing.
They got a very good offensive line.
They can play physical.
When you hand it to a running back,
whether it's outside zone or catching the edge,
he can just do things. Now, again,
how much can you complain? No turnovers and you're only turnovers on the fourth down,
right? Where you get stopped. But other than that, you're protecting the football.
It's just unfortunate that the Chiefs make more plays. They just made more plays in those
situations. And listen, they almost cost themselves. Like when they, I
forget who got run out of bounds, the first conversion on the first down and he went out
of bounds and stopped the clock again. That gave the Bills another opportunity, right?
And so, you know, again, they almost cost themselves, but when it's a matter of moments, they made the play.
They drop it to P-Rod and he gets the first down and stays in bounds and then runs the
clock out.
But they, again, when the Chiefs made an error by going out of bounds right there, the Bills
got to stop it.
It can't happen.
You can't let them convert again.
They got a chance and converted it. And then the game is over.
When we look at this chief's run, um, you know, they've reinvented themselves,
the deep shots and then Tampa game exposed to the offensive lines. They turn that over. They turn over the defensive side of the ball with all of
these young dudes. And you know, it was funny cause I think I was,
I forget who I was talking to last week when they had taken a deep shot against
Houston with Hollywood Brown.
I was like, Oh, that's right.
Remember, remember what that used to look like?
Because that's what this team used to be.
And they had a juju had a couple of big catches for this one.
Um, but how, how tough is it for a team to reinvent itself and then continue to
have this level of success for basically Superbowls are the standard.
Well, you know, what's interesting for me is they and Buffalo both, when you look at their
receiving core and you know what like when you look at what Joe Burrow has or you know
what has in their receiving core and then you compare it's you, whether it's Smith Schuster or it's Kelsey or it's Deandre Hopkins or
Hollywood Brown, they share.
And it's never a game where if you take one guy out, that their offense has to do something.
Kelsey had a massive week, two weeks ago, you know, he's making great blocks
He has a couple important catches
But he wasn't the focus and you saw Smith Schuster in the middle where where Kelsey normally makes those catches and now it's him
And it's like they're unselfish and you it's really tough to defend teams like that
When everybody buys the into the team framework of we're just going to win.
And it's it's the antithesis of of most,
you know, go to teams, right?
Like where you got that one guy and you know, matchup, man,
we're going to go take this guy where you'll make this play and they have,
they can spread it around. It's very difficult to defend when you,
I thought one of the things that really changed for us as well, and when Reggie became a one, beside Marv, who's a one, you got Dallas,
who, you know, you got Stokely or just rotate whichever slot guy you want in there. But now,
it didn't matter. You know, maybe a Reggie game, it might be a Marv game, it might be a Dow game,
it might be an Edgerun or a Joseph and I game.
Now it's really difficult for defenses to take out quote your, because what Belichick
did before that, he would double or double Mars or he'd put one guy on somebody to lock
them up and then double the other and enforce you to be your third.
There's no more of that.
And that's what KC does differently.
And even Buffalo does it the same way.
And I'm just telling you, Ryan,
that's freaking tough, man.
Defensively, to have all your guys on point
every play is fatiguing.
And again, you saw it last night
when a play had Watson on the two point.
Good God, how many guys do we got
who can make a play, right?
He makes a toe touch right at the back of the end zone.
And there's just so many guys who it could be their moment and for give Andy Reid and
their, and their offensive team to have a ton of credit, whether it's, whether it's
Sunni Lou with the left tackle and that's, you know, there are a lot of people who's
like, no, we're gonna slide that way and put him out there or it's, it's Watson.
It's like, whoever's time it is steps
up and make plays and that's that is a culture and and Beach deserves credit because they they
continue to reinvent but it's the same culture. Whoever's time it is make the most of it and we're
going to celebrate with. What'd you think of the corner blitz on fourth and five? Insane. My son
and I and my wife and his girlfriend
are sitting on the couch watching this thing.
And as soon as the place, we're both like,
cat blitz, and he's screaming, and then he sets inside.
So it's like, he's not even edging it, bro,
he's wrapping it and he is on it.
And I'm just thinking to myself,
as an offensive lineman, right?
Like, so you have different protections.
And so if you're gonna, you know,
you would call it, you know, you would shat it,
but you would take it to the field.
So you take it all the way to the sideline.
To just realize there was no indicator
that that dude is coming from Nick.
So from an offensive line perspective,
you're saying kind of inside out, right?
You're trying to think inside out.
This dude comes screaming and he's right through.
And again, man, spats like dialing that up.
You haven't seen it all with Disney.
And I know it's in there.
I mean, as a player, you know it's in there.
They've done it.
But it's got, will he do that on display?
Fourteen five?
Like you're going to, you got to have, you got a giant co-on eggs, right?
Like, and he does it.
And then, you know,
it doesn't get picked up.
And how, first of all, how Allen gets that ball off,
I got Noah, I mean, he just fricking grown,
made a freak of all freaks.
And so, but that blitz at that moment,
just, it speaks to, you know,
how confident they are in each other.
And, you know, cause Reed knows, like he's listening. I can assure you I've been there like you hear it.
We're bringing it.
You'll get it right and he did it and you're going to live
and die by that play and it was it was it was remarkable.
The biggest takeaway I have from the NSC title game is that
the guy want to spend most of the time on Philadelphia.
But the fact that Jay Daniels got this team to the NSC
championship game.
We knew defensively that they were, look, they still gave up a million points to Detroit and this whole thing. But there was a bit of a reminder, I think, of watching the four teams
play this weekend where you went, Washington is this incredible story. They're just not
level of these teams right now. And the fact they're even playing on this Sunday,
I think that's a fan base should be like this was an unbelievable run but
we're not the same as these other three teams. Absolutely and I'll tell you man
like DQ, Dan Quinn, golly bro. Like I love first of all I love him he is a he is a
dude I would go to battle with every day and twice on Sunday like ain't a better
human right like he is, he is a,
he is as good as there is. And I got to know him here in Atlanta and then kind of, you know,
throughout years. And I just, I can't tell you how much respect I have for him. And Jane, I mean,
the part for Jane Daniels for me as well is he played good in this game. Like, don't make a mistake. He can't control fumbles. I mean,
and again, it mounted up and Philly, you know, they were having their way offensive defensively,
but make no mistake, like Daniels didn't shrink. He didn't become like, oh, all of a sudden he
became a rookie. This dude still didn't play like a rookie. I mean, he played a very good football
team, I mean, football game against the number one defense in the league.
And it just shows like how special this kid really is. And I mean, I love the story. I love
from where they went to where they are now. And I would text DQ throughout the season. And I mean,
this is his go to, man. These dudes love playing for each other.
And you'd love to be a part of this scene because of that.
That's how things like that happen.
Because everybody's for each other and those guys play.
And like you said, man, if you're a commander's fan,
how good do you feel after this season?
I mean, my God, if you are complaining a bit,
slap yourself.
Because this is as good as it could have possibly been.
And I love the story, I'm with you.
Okay, Philly, this is a team that we knew.
I mean, the defensive numbers for what Fangio has done
with this group from, and you could talk about like,
they nailed it with both corners in the draft.
Some of the younger guys that they've drafted higher up,
like coming into their own.
There's just, it feels like every single week
you watch an Eagles game, you're like,
here's a different dude making all sorts of plays.
Defensively, we know about the O-line,
we know about the weapons and everything.
And they didn't really need Jalen Hurts to light it up.
The previous two playoff games,
but he was much better in this one.
So I don't know if it's a comparison
to the Super Bowl team of two years ago,
wherever you want to go with this, but just kind of the level they're at right now as they go to try to get this one. So I don't know if it's a comparison to the Super Bowl team of two years ago, how, wherever you want to go with this, but just kind of the level
they're out right now as they go to try to get this done.
Oh, I think, I think this, I think this is the most talented team, um, probably
from, from a roster perspective that there is in our game. Like when I look
at their, when I look at their roster, you know, whether it's Davis or Carter
inside, whether it's Davis or Carter inside,
whether it's Braun, I know Dean is now hurt,
but when Dean started to come alive,
like you said, the rookies,
they draft there in the backfield.
You look at their offensive line,
you look at Saquon, you look at Jalen,
you look at Smith, you look at Goddard,
you look at AJ.
I mean, everywhere you look, there are dudes.
And I have defended this Eagles team the entire year.
Like when Seriotti is chirping at some dude in the stands,
everybody's talking about that.
This guy is a, he wins.
I get it, it infuriates me that we talk about this guy,
like he shouldn't be passionate
or he shouldn't be the way he is.
Because I wanna tell you man, dudes ride with him.
You saw the guys with a sideline and what happened.
They weren't upset that he was doing it.
And so I'm so happy that the way that they've played,
physicality, not getting outside of who they are,
not trying to be what everybody tells them they gotta be,
what every freaking pundit tells me,
I gotta go throw it 35 times to be successful in this NFL,
because all we wanna do is break down receiver routes
versus DV combinations, it makes me wanna throw up, bro.
How about this, between the freaking tackles,
you've got a block and you've got a tackle,
and we're better than you.
And then we got this guy back to your Saquon,
who could have easily broken the record
and decides to take the foot off the gas
And you watch it and he took a put off the gas even in games where he could have had more
And I love the way this team is built. I love the way they play
I think Jane Lynn hurts does exactly what Jaylen hurts needs to do and it's a shame that we can't complement a guy
Who can throw for a buck 50 and they continue to win
if a buck 50 is all that's required.
Like I just, I don't understand why we have to
fall in love with numbers and you know,
it was like when Alan, you know, when they beat the Ravens
and it all became, you know, the Ravens gave this game away
and Alan didn't even play it.
He did exactly what was necessary to win.
Don't turn it over.
Protect the ball, take the lead.
Do these things.
Why don't we understand that's our game?
Like it doesn't have to look like what everybody
that wants to draw pictures wants you to think.
You can play the game a different way
and it fits their defensive style.
Them running it keeps Jordan Davis fresh and Carter fresh, right?
And their linebacker, like it keeps them being able to play the way they want to play.
And I love it because it fits much more my narrative of how I want to see a game
play and, uh, and they've done it to an excellent level.
Do you have, um, like a soft spot for Sirianni? Because, you know, I want to get to your coaching
thing here in a second, but like he doesn't have
a good press conference, which is almost like half
the guys when they first are introduced to us,
you're like, what the hell was that?
You know, and it kind of doesn't really mean anything.
I talked to a few dudes that had played on teams
with him and they're like, we love them.
Love them.
We absolutely love them.
So like, when you hear that from guys that you respect, you're kind of like, all
right, well, you have that experience.
You're informing me of it.
It's not like some of the other times you're like, yeah, I don't really know.
That guy doesn't really connect.
And yet, you know, they change out the coordinators.
I think if you look at his first 60 games, he has like the second highest winning
percentage of any coach.
Go ahead.
Go ahead. go ahead.
So I'll give you a great story on your story.
So I get, you know, Ershad brings me in
and he's like, hey, I need you for eight games.
Some do this.
Perfect.
I sign up.
I know it's gonna be, you know,
I know it's gonna be ugly or whatever.
Well, I told Jim, we're not gonna win a game, bro.
Like, you know, I've been helping, we were Jim, we're not going to win a game.
I've been helping, we were bad, right?
And now you're bringing in, you're letting out a guy who's calling all the plays and
knows this thing inside.
Now he's now out the door.
They had already fired the offensive coordinator, so there was nobody in the building that can
call plays, right?
And then they maybe have a guy who's a great kid, but he's a young kid, and then, you know, they don't, they, you know, they, they, they maybe have a guy who's,
who, you know, he's a great kid, but he's a young kid and he hadn't even had a room yet, right? He's
an assistant quarterback coach. He's now calling plays in the NFL. So it was going to be ugly.
And, and we, we win by a miracle and, and, uh, in L I mean, in Vegas and we come back and we have
the Eagles. Well, Sirianni had been in India, right?
Before he had gone to, and so he was with Frank in India
and before he had taken the head coaching job.
And I had heard kind of mixed reviews about Sirianni.
But the funny part was the mixed portion
was all up in the front.
All the dudes loved them, right?
Like still all the players,
so some of the things I've
heard were, you know, people who were who weren't feet on the grass, right? They're the they're the
upper, you know, upper echelon folks, right? So but the guys who would play for him freaking love
them. Okay, the guys who coach with him love them. And, you know, he's a spirited cat, right? So
they're talking trash, you know, I mean, they're kind of talking trash throughout the week with each other, which is great, right?
It's like, it's coaching and that's a fun thing to do.
We have a heck of a game.
We get stopped on, on fourth down.
We mix it up.
We should have an easy touchdown.
We don't let you get a field goal.
So we're up and they're driving the ball
into like the last minute of the game.
And they call driving the ball into like the last minute of the game. And they call a QB draw and our tackle and linebacker mix up a call.
So they run out of the gap and Hertz basically walks in to win.
And Sirianni is running nuts, right?
In any bro, he's going crazy.
He's up, you know, he's like in the stands, like that's for Frank or you know, whatever he's saying.
You know, that's for my coach, whatever it is, right?
And he goes off, you know,
and we had shaken hands right before.
And I knew, like I know Kelsey, I knew Lane,
so you know, I'm talking to those guys,
they congratulate, heck I'll win, all that kind of stuff.
And we go in and the media is making a massive deal of it,
right, and they're like, oh, and I was like, man, he should do that, bro.
Like he worked with that man.
That man gave him a freaking job as a court.
Why wouldn't he?
He doesn't know me, you know?
He doesn't owe anything to the Colts.
He don't owe anything.
He owes it to Frank because that's his boy.
I got total respect for that.
And Sirianni called me, dude, that week.
And we talked, and it was an awesome conversation.
And we, in fact, we talked through, you an awesome conversation and and we in fact we talked
through you know six in and and i'm not gonna get it all but i i respect that man like i'm for guys
like that like you stand up for your boy i don't care what anybody else in the freaking world
thinks of you like you do you and it was personal for him and unfortunately we had to lose the game
that sucks but i'm you know if that's what your celebration did, I'm not insulted by that. Like, like I didn't fire
Frank, you know, I had no, no, you know, no control over that. I love Frank. So like what
did he, but I think it's, I like Austin and you know, I liked Belichick when everybody
hated Belichick, right? Because he doesn't do what everybody thinks he could do. Right?
He's not the circus clown everybody wants him to be.
He's not the best whatever.
I love dudes like that, man.
And I'm just telling you, like, I have a ton of respect
for the way Sirianni does his business.
He wins and, you know, he went through a tough run,
but he loses his two coordinators who become head coaches
and are, you know, one's in Indy with Stikin
and one ones in Arizona
and trying to do his deal out there.
But it's tough.
But now he's tired, two other good ones,
and man, they're winning again.
Like, I love it.
I love the story of the Eagles.
And so I'm a Sirianni sand and I'm not an apologist.
You know, does he do everything I would do?
No, but I don't blame him a bit
for carrying himself the way he does keep winning bro.
And that's the, you shut everybody up that way.
When you got the gig with the Colts, um, and because you know that I like you, I
mean, you know, it's not like we're on a tech start every week here, but, um, I
always love, you know, hanging out when we were working together.
So I was rooting for you.
Cause I like you the same way, because I like Antonio Pierce a lot.
Yeah.
I was rooting for Antonio.
And I do wonder too, like whether it's the Deon
stuff with Colorado, where I just give that
program a ton of credit for being like, let's do
something else, you know, what's, what's the harm
and trying something different.
And sometimes I'll wonder like, is there perhaps
the CEO role where this actually makes a little
bit more sense?
I think the thing that upset me, and it wasn't just because, you know, look, it didn't work out.
We went one and seven.
I was bothered by, and it's not like if everybody at ESPN, we all work together,
then everybody has to like you.
But I felt like there was just so many people that were super critical of it because
of how odd the dynamic was that you even alluded to.
And I think people kind of knew that is that Ursay was just like, look, can we
just land the plane in some version of this season and then I've known you this
long and you've been working with the team.
Like you just give me the dope on like the roster and all this kind of stuff.
It, it felt like this was a very specific hiring for a franchise that needed some
kind of reset and I felt
like the way it was covered that it was massive resentment that you had the
opportunity and there was joy every week that you lost. That's what I saw and it
upset. Yeah, no and I appreciate it and the reality was there were a ton of
people you know, who were going to be failures. The problem was I knew it was going to be
failure. So it was going in, I didn't
have these, you know, illusions of Ranser that we're going to go, you know, seven and
one and rally the troops, right? I had, you know, when I walked in, I got Ryan, I got
Foles and I got Ellinger, like, you know, we had, we were banged up, like you just knew,
right? And so here was Ersei's situation. And I don't think people give it enough,
you know, kind of thought in this,
but the defensive staff was brand new.
Like Frank had just brought Gust and those guys in,
saved in there six months.
They were just there.
And on the offensive side, they had fired Marcus,
who was the offensive coordinator,
and they just fired Frank.
And so the longest senior coach
was the offensive line coach,
Chris Shrowse, but everybody else, Reggie was brand new.
It was his first year.
And these guys were career coaches, right?
Like you and I both, like these are career guys.
Like I was a career coach guy.
And so literally Jim's just like,
hey, I need to know what's going on in the building, bro.
Can you tell me what you think about our staff. Tell me what you think about our players. Like, where do you see
us? Like, how does this thing project? We are in a sour here and it's, you know, it's
going to stay, he felt like it was going to stay at this level. And he's like, so I just,
I'm just trying to, I'm trying to shake things up, figure this out, tell me what, you know,
I need you for eight weeks and then come in.
And then when I got in, he was like,
you know, we're four or five weeks in.
He's like, I want you to try and apply for this thing
long-term and just see what, I want to see like
how you would hire, like what would you do differently?
You know what I mean?
And so I did all that for him.
And I tell people all the time, man,
like Jim was, he was our owner for,
but he was all, you know, he was, he was right to me.
He was great to my family.
Like, I mean, so I was, when I'm doing this,
I wasn't doing this,
people thought I was doing this in spite of coaches.
Like I don't care about coaches.
I had a coach in high school.
I love career coaches, man.
Like these men give their
lives and sacrifice their families for a lot of this. I respect that. In fairness, I'm not willing
to do that. Like I knew I wasn't going to be there at four in the morning and stay till one
in the morning. Like I knew that wasn't me, right? And so, and Jim knew, you know, I was like, hey,
I'll do this for eight weeks. I can put those hours in I can do that My wife was cool with it. But like long term this thing would look different
It would be much more like a Bruce Eriens or a Tony Dungey type run organization than what we have now. And so
When we had these conversations
People like you said wanted to take like personal shots, right?
Like like I was trying to harm and the great the crazy part is I still talk to all those coaches.
Like they still text me.
They were never offended.
I literally walked in.
The first thing I said is I know I don't know as much as you know.
So if I'm not going to try to pretend to be somebody I'm not, this is my job while I'm
here to arm you with as much as I can arm you to make you the best coach you can be
Tell me what I can do and I will I'll move heaven and earth to try to get that done
Right and so and that was my job and I looked at players in a locker room
I looked at those things and and ultimately I did what I knew was best for the organization
And so I got no regrets man. Like if people people like to take shots and they're like, oh, you suck that.
Let me tell you, bro, if you're hiring, if you think I would have hired the way I would
hire, I walked in on a, you walked in and the movie's half over, bro, but you're trying
to rewrite.
Like there's, you don't have the ability to do any of those things.
And I didn't have a relationship.
Had I been there and had a relationship, I may have known where to move pieces, but you don't. And Jim knew that. And I
told him going in. And so I'm with you. Like I tell guys all the time, every one of those dudes
who took shots would have done the exact same thing. And all of them sitting up there acting
like they wouldn't, you know, maybe if a guy had been on 10 teams, he wouldn't. But anybody who had been somewhere 14 years of their life and they call and go, hey, I
need you for eight weeks, step in. You'll be a lamb, right? You're going to be a sacrifice
of this thing. But when you do this, help us out. Every dude cares about their teams
enough. They will be like, sure, I'll step in and do whatever. And so again, I appreciate
you saying that.
But and I can tell you, man,
like the built towers of the world have come up and been like, man, I'm, you know,
it's, it's all, you know, over and done and apologies have been made.
And they spoke their mind, say whatever you want. Like, I don't,
I can assure you when my head fell off, I slept just fine. So it, you know,
you got to do your job. And I was trying to do my training.
8% on challenges well okay I like you challenge now I will say this now I tell everybody you look at our run game our run game gotten legit bro like
we went we went from like while we were. I can't control the rest of it.
I know that part really well.
I want to be drunk until I get those scat.
So it's fair to say,
cause this is the double barrel question here,
is that coaching those eight games more likely discourage you
from everybody to do it again than motivated you from like,
okay, now that I understand what this is all about,
I can't wait for my next opportunity.
Oh, you know what?
I'll be honest with you.
My wife and I talked about it.
The difference for me and every, and is I don't have to do it, right?
Like I've been fortunate in my career and those kind of things.
And so, but if I can do it my way, that was my big thing with Jim.
Like when I, when I, when I did the full application deal and we sat down
with Ballard and the girls and all those kind of things and we're having those conversations,
it's going to be this way. I chalk the field and I put those boundaries really tight. And if you're
comfortable with that, I think I could be very successful. But the but you know, the idea that, you know, when you set this thing in,
that you set my, my rules for me, I don't think you can, you know, I wouldn't be, I
wouldn't, I wouldn't be me if I did those things. And so, you know, if it ever happens
again or we ever have a different conversation, um, but yeah, that, that was where I, that's
where I stood on that.
Last thing, uh, you have a lean on the Super Bowl here? I don't. I want to go back because my gut would tell me Kansas City because of the way that their
defense can play.
But I'm just going to tell you, I love Saquon.
I love Philly's offensive line.
I love what they've done all season.
So that part excites me.
I'm going to win, win.
I, you know, if, if, if the Eagles and the rushing attack and
seriality Wednesday, if the chiefs three P with Andy Reed in my homes, like,
how good is my life?
I want to talk about either way and I'm winning on both sides.
So no lean quite yet.
We're still a long way.
We've got a lot of film to look at to, uh, to see how my run game
matches up on both sides.
Sounds good, man. It's great to catch up and I appreciate it because this is something I
always wanted to talk about. So I know that's a bit in the past, but I'm glad we covered it
because I always wanted to have that conversation with you. You're the best. Thanks, Jeff.
I love it. I like the view. You're gonna point me that I got the little chair right on this
little side right here. It looks like my kind of setup. We got you set up. on this little side right here. Looks like my kind of setup, you know? That's me.
We got you set up.
There's a grill right there, you know?
Let's go.
Plenty of towels.
We can host a real thing over here, man.
So yeah, hopefully we'll see you out here one day.
Sounds great.
You want details?
Fine.
I drive a Ferrari, 355 Cabriolet. What's up? I have a ridiculous
house in the South Fork. I have every toy you can possibly imagine. And best of all,
kids, I am liquid. So now you know what's possible. Let me tell you what's required.
Live advice, live advice, rr at gmail.com. We've got Kyle and we've got Wargon,
hopefully just in the mix here.
Saruti off this week.
So Mexico, I believe?
Yeah, so a little more from you, Wargon.
Just be ready.
Yeah.
A lot of people ask about Wargon.
Very excited about this.
All right, destination wedding mis-invite.
Long time listener, first time emailer. So my wife and I got married at the end of last year. It was a beautiful destination wedding mis-invite. Long time listener, first time emailer.
So my wife and I got married at the end of last year.
It was a beautiful destination wedding.
We planned it for over a year, no expenses spared.
I would include more specific details,
but I'm wary because the folks I'm telling you about
might be listeners, uh-oh.
For our wedding, we invited around 200 guests.
Whoa, to a destination?
That's a lot of people.
Thought you'd do that so that everyone's like,
oh, he only had like 15 people there, like what do you expect?
I thought that was the way to get out of that.
But I guess, I guess you can go the other way.
Doing it big, doing it big.
It's customary in our culture to invite a bunch of people,
including people you might not know too well,
which leads to the problem at hand.
All right, okay.
My wife is an incredibly gracious person who always sees the good in people.
Unlike me, who is discerning to the point of being accused, negative or presumptuous.
But when you live in a big city, like I do, I'll leave out the city.
I say that being speculative of people entering your inner
circle is always a good idea.
Yeah, I can understand that.
Relate to that.
Maybe it's better to be more like your wife, but I don't know.
I don't know about that one.
With that in mind, leading up to the wedding,
some of our close friends weren't able to attend the wedding,
partly for financial reasons, some for health reasons,
so we had a couple open slots.
My wife heard a word for her family
that her family friend and his wife were moving to our city,
so she thought it was a good idea to meet them
and welcome them.
They came over dinner and it was pleasant enough,
but that in my eyes certified them as keepers.
Um, they were the epitome of nice people with
little to say in that awkward silence.
My wife took it upon herself to invite them to
our wedding.
Wow.
That was quick.
I was a bit shocked when she did so because we
just met them and in non-verbal communication,
it seemed like we had just liked this couple just okay.
Cut to them actually immediately buying plane tickets
for our wedding, which I stress was expensive
as a destination wedding and buying outfits, et cetera.
Now the real crazy starts, the wedding itself.
When they arrive, they tell one of our close friends
who was on the same plane as them that they hired a photo and video crew to follow around the city leading up to the wedding
so they could release content.
They also took the video crew to our wedding venue the day after our ceremony.
Our venue was an hour outside of the city.
So just think about that.
They hired a video crew and drove themselves an hour outside of the city just to make content
of themselves for Instagram.
And the wedding, or excuse me, after the wedding, we drove down, dove down through their social media profiles and realized that these people are aspiring influencers, writing fake articles about their relationship, getting on the local news to talk about themselves.
With no actual purpose or reason, it has quickly become our object of fascination and disgust
With all of that said because my wife invited them to our wedding. They believe our friendship has been fast-tracked
Meanwhile, we kind of want nothing to do with them
How would you unwind what this friendship is and dodge future hangs without constant lying which can get very old quickly?
All right
That's a new one
Kyle it's just hard for me to come to grips with the reality of what happened Right. That's a new one. Kyle?
It's just hard for me to come to grips
with the reality of what happened.
I can't imagine if I was them while it was happening.
I don't know anyone like this out in the wild.
I just don't, I don't know.
I know those people exist, but I just, I don't,
I see them when I'm driving.
I see a guy on the sidewalk.
He just puts his tripod down and then walks up to it. Like, you know, like just, you know, those
people who like, uh, we'll say like, get ready with me and then like, or here's my day. And they,
they show themselves coming home from work. It's like, wait a second. That guy drove his car home,
got out, put the tripod out, got back in his car, left and like I've seen that and I'm like that is just
that's just a really that's certainly a way to go about life. But I just I've never those people
have never been in my orbit. I've always seen there's always been like a pane of glass in
between me and them. So I really don't know how I would do this. I think disgusted might be a harsh
word but I think it's the right one. I don't know.
I think I would probably just lie about being busy all the time and hope these people get it.
I don't know.
This is muddy.
I do think the positive of this is that
you realize that it's absurd.
Your wife kind of realizes that it's absurd
and you're not dwelling on the negative.
There's no internal rift between you.
Yeah.
Like she gets it.
Okay.
I think there's a real positive that you kind of start there, but I mean, obviously
that's not what you're asking and what you want the solution to be.
Um, yeah, you're right.
Like when you're, when you're somebody and say, look, I'm sure we have listeners
that this is, this is what they do.
And for some people that can make a living about off of this.
And we just talked about this last week where like, when you're in on the content
game and this is what you're going to do and you're going to be an influencer,
you have to be all in.
You have to think that prepping for your day is actually in callous to the
absurdity of it all.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like who was it?
That guy drew who would just like set up the tripod to go to Target?
Yeah.
Yeah.
And it was so ridiculous that it actually became a thing.
So it was like, well, who's really winning?
Like if people are watching this guy's stuff
and he would kind of do like,
it was almost something like Christian Bale
and American Psycho were an influencer.
Like I start with a-
Oh, he would totally.
Right.
An almond face cream to make sure that I'm hydrated,
but no alcohol to prevent aging. Yeah. I mean, that's a lot of work. It's a lot of work. And I
think there's also, I don't know if it's like inherent narcissism, but there's something to
you to think that people would care. But it's worked. It's worked for so many people that as
we talked about last week, it's very. It's worked for so many people that,
as we talked about last week,
it's very enticing because you're kind of like,
well, I could just do that.
And if that person is doing this,
there's nothing that special about it.
So why can't I just do that?
And it's like a rather appealing thing of,
that's a potential lane that I can have.
And that's why you see so many people doing it.
So I'm not even sure that I would necessarily knock anyone for doing it.
But yeah, it's, it feels like a real qualifier.
Like, hey, have you ever gone to a stranger's wedding and hired a video crew to then document it and then upload all of that content?
You have? Okay. That's a very specific yes to something there.
So to cut them out, I don't know.
I'm sure they'll probably figure it out at some point.
Morgan, you have anything on this?
Yeah, I just can't get over inviting people
you've met once to your wedding.
Like I'm trying to talk my fiance into acting like friends
from our wedding.
Like, yeah, we're friends with these people now,
but like five years from now,
we're gonna be friends with them.
120 a plate. Like, who knows?
Yeah, that's the other thing.
I'm losing all these battles, by the way.
Yeah, of course you are. But that's the other thing. You you don't need to fill just because
you have a space for 10 tables of 15 people or whatever. Like, you don't have to. It's
like we could save $120 for every person just because people dropped out. You could just
have less people. That is okay.
120 a plate, huh?
It's looking like it.
Yeah.
I was about, I was about 104, but that was scary too.
And what was your total Kyle?
104 a plate, I think.
What's some total invites?
Um, we did it.
We had, we had really hoped that like, you know, good 10% of people wouldn't.
And it just turns out those people just forgot to RSVP.
And we found out like a couple days before they're like, oh, yeah, there's actually
16 extra people coming.
So yeah, I think we were around like 150, 160.
I think we had to ask them to put, I think it was like 153 or something.
We booked a thing that was supposed to be 150 max.
And I don't know, some people just, I don't know, I've never heard of an RSVP.
We did take a bit of a gamble, but I was like,
I'm not sending note cards out for them to then put note
cards back in the mail.
I'm not paying double postage.
I was like, we'll just do this QR code website thing.
And some of the olds just were like, I don't do that,
but I'm still coming.
So we did take a bit of a gamble with doing the online
registration for coming to the
wedding and there's just a few folks north of 70 who are just like, I won't be bothered
with that, but you will have my prime rib and a plate for me.
Yeah, the non RSVP thing I always thought was like a guy in his twenties deal, because
I did it twice.
I'm sorry.
But one was I didn't realize the wedding was that weekend.
Then I had to tell the guy, I was like,
I actually can't do it.
I remember this one.
It was bad because I invited him to something and he was like,
I'm getting married dickhead that weekend.
Then he's like, are you coming?
I went, oh, yeah.
I'm actually doing the thing I've invited you.
Yeah. No, it was bad.
I mean, it was like a really bad.
I just started. You couldn't even lie and come up with a good thing because you just try to get him to do something.
Yeah. But I mean, he was, he kind of understood my deal at that time and then was like, why don't
you just try to come down for the reception Saturday night or something? And I was like,
I don't know. I think it was NFL draft weekend. I did a show at Foxboro. I think Yankee socks
was that weekend and the
Celtics are in the playoffs.
It was, and I was just kind of starting.
So it wasn't, it wasn't in the cards that I was
going to be able to go down.
I think the Cape for like three days and on top
of everything else, I'm almost positive.
I didn't have the money to even pull it off.
So anyway, that's not really what this guy's
asking about, but I think the good thing in this
is that they're not core people.
Like, yes, they went to your wedding, but clearly your standard of a wedding
invite is looser than maybe anything we've ever heard.
And maybe if they are that weird, they're kind of desperate for friends.
Um, maybe they're not, maybe you guys are awesome.
You know, maybe they think they've just automatically made this connection
with you, which I don't know
that I could blame them because again, your wife
invited him to the wedding the first time you ever
hung out with them.
Yeah, that's great.
So the good thing though, is that it's not like
you're getting rid of some core guy that you've
grown tired of.
I've known this guy since I was a kid.
We went to college together.
We were roommates, my wife, you know, whatever.
Like there's none of that here.
So there's not that's none of that here. So
there's not that much of an attachment here. It shouldn't be that hard to just go like, hey, well, it'll be just like before you came to our wedding where we were friends with you.
I guess, like, do you not like them only because of that? Is that enough? Is that enough to just
be like, I don't want to be friends with somebody that would do that?
Or do all of us need to-
If they're doing it, there's gotta be something else.
Well, this guy also said-
The people that do this.
This guy also said he's sort of like Bill
in a way where Bill's sort of like out
until you prove that he should be in,
when he's like, you know, Bill's like a,
not a no new friends kind of guy,
but I think he's like, you know, I'm pretty good.
Like, you kinda gotta give me a reason.
I start basically one degree on the outside of center,
then you got to pull me in.
And if that sounds like that's how this guy goes,
he's just sort of like, you know what, with new people,
I'm just closer to out than I am to in.
And these people really pushed it
way far down in that direction.
So I think he's just like, yeah, I don't,
I don't ever want to do this.
Like you, you, you, you've put, we're past the point of no return.
We already started pretty much left of center and now we're just way out.
I guess there could also be something here where your wife should probably be
more upset if people were invited to your wedding and then they turned your
wedding into some platform for them to do this stuff, but then sometimes I wonder if all of us just need to kind of
update what we think is acceptable when it comes to this
kind of stuff, because this is actually, I mean,
this seems a little weird because you don't really know
them all that well, but to hire the crew and to make it an
opportunity for them to have new content,
it's not like they're the only people doing this.
Like a lot of people are doing this and they're just
figuring out new ways to actually have
generally the most boring day to day shit be considered something that's worth. Like some of
the people that crush it on the day to day stuff, I think the big joke is that it's so not interesting
that people are fascinated about how not interesting it is and then they still watch it. So the content
person still kind of wins even though it's like, it's not because this is good, it's I can't believe it's like comedians.
Like I went to a standup show this weekend and it was a lot of different
people and it depends on your tastes.
You know, there's, there's stuff in all different directions, but like sometimes
I'll watch somebody who's struggled, right?
Who's really, and it's hard to do.
It's obviously hard to do some nights.
You could have the same material and the crowd just responds to it in a much better way.
But there was a couple that just weren't very good.
And you're watching it happen and you're thinking like,
I kind of admire your confidence.
Yeah, how are you still up there?
Yeah, that you were doing this in the mirror
and you're like, this is gonna kill
and this is what I wanna do.
And then you're watching it.
You're almost defended by the confidence in a way.
But I don to do. And then you're watching it. You're almost offended by the confidence in a way. But I don't know. I'm now I'm just, I'm sounding mean about something that's really, really tough
to do. As an aside, Mark Maron was one of the headliners and it was a tough crowd.
It was a weird crowd. I don't know if it was because it was early and people weren't drinking
enough, but there was this group that was really loud and they were too loud.
They were way too loud to be at a comedy show.
They were being obnoxious and Marin snapped.
I'm not saying this to be critical of Marin,
but it was the thing, if you get anxiety from uncomfortable situations,
you would have had an awful time.
Dude, I saw Marin at the comedy store and he just
basically bitched for 15 minutes about being bumped.
I think it was that night.
He was bumped like a couple of spots down.
He was just like, this is my time,
is I'm bitching about being bumped.
It was just like, all right.
Three people got thrown out.
Like they were yelling, we used to be fans.
I mean, it was, it was, it was, it was like,
then this other couple almost got thrown out.
And like the guy that he yelled at,
yelled back at him after five minutes was like,
you're losing the room.
It was, if you are super uncomfortable,
when things are uncomfortable,
this would have been hell for you.
Because nobody would like,
people were kind of like fired up to see Marin
and he actually kind of recovered
because he's a lifer
and he's been doing it a really long time
and it worked out to be really good.
But there were these moments in there where you were like,
whoa, this is weird.
Like people were just kind of uncomfortable about the whole thing.
This is a special guest that I know.
Yeah.
Because he walked on and everybody's like,
wait, this woman screamed out like, I love you.
He goes, yeah, we'll see in five minutes.
There was a really short comedian.
Actually, I didn't even think he was short,
but his routine was that I'm short.
And he brought up some short facts that I thought
had made me feel bad for some of the shorter dudes out there.
All right, next email.
Okay, I have no game.
All right.
I love the subject lines of these emails.
Yeah, and he sent us a picture of himself with his shirt off.
All right.
Saruti Kyle, Oregon, Ogeron is actually what he has a new one.
Um, a proud Australian listener, rugby player, 21 years old, been listening
since 2018, five, 10, 245 pounds, gym stats, squat, four, oh five, three times
bench three 14 bench 314.
314.
Are you just saying?
Yeah, well, I don't know. Does EU plates?
I don't know. Yeah, I guess I'm just thinking
how the plates I mean even numbers, right?
No, you could.
You could find a way to put the
plates together. I guess for that I
just would seem like way more of a hassle. Deadlift 500 NBA comp. Delavadova bit of a foil to put the plates together, I guess for that. I just would, it seemed like way more of a hassle. Deadlift 500, NBA comp, De La Vadova.
Bit of a foil to the guy who wants to keep it
strictly physical.
Remember that guy who's hooking up all the time?
As per the subject, I have no game.
I'm 5'10", physique only impressive to dudes.
Blonde hair, blue eyes, big solo bar guy, and usually can tell amusing stories all night
and drink Carlton Draught.
What did he say about stories all night?
He can tell amusing stories all night.
I'm a medical student and as such have a lot of nerdy interests, lifting movies, history.
What's dude.
Careful.
So on and so forth, which is also a tough sell to women.
I've been on one date in my life. It was the 30th anniversary screening for Heat.
She did not text me back.
Is this guy fighting with us right now?
This might be fake.
The 30th anniversary for Heat is a little on the nose if we're doing a fake one.
Yeah, right.
Alright. She did not text me back.
I've tried everything. Everything. Do more than enough bold approaches as far as living and drinking and going to bars.
Tried getting female friends to set me up, tried the apps.
I just have no game.
Definitely looking for something long-term romantic,
although wouldn't turn down a one-night stand,
especially as that's been my only experience.
The most aggravating part is I'm a killer
when it comes to dudes.
Popular with my teammates and random guys I meet at bars
think I rule.
I've had multiple guys tell me,
unprompted I should start a podcast.
I just got back from two weeks in Japan and made tons of friends there.
And I don't speak Japanese.
Before you ask, no success with the ladies there despite a lot of attention, I guess.
Why am I so repulsive to women?
Need any advice on beating a cold streak?
Most action I've had in the last 12 months is getting told I have beautiful eyes.
Physique attached, face is average.
So yeah yeah he sent
us a picture of himself at the gym with his shirt off um you know this guy's thick he's got a banged
up thumbnail too so looks like he's you know he's physically he's willing to challenge himself or
maybe yeah maybe hammer hammer a broken board uh look, look, okay. Um, maybe that is your game.
Maybe you have to do a little Costanza here.
You know, just start with that.
All of it.
Hey, I have no game.
And that's your game.
Is it, you just, you get it all out of the open.
I hate I'm Doug.
Nice to meet you.
Terrible with women.
How are you? You know, I mean, it Nice to meet you. Terrible with women. How are you?
You know, I mean, it's a little different.
Nothing is working right now.
So the good thing is you're at zero.
It can only get better.
So maybe you lean into that a little bit and that becomes your, if you said you're
good in bars and you're good at telling stories and you're amusing, have your intro
be something that's so self-deprecating and brutally honest and something that most dudes
wouldn't say, is that perhaps the move, Kyle?
I'd say there's a few guys walking this earth
for which the drought doesn't exist,
but for the rest of us, droughts are real.
It can make you go a little crazy, I think.
You might start getting crazy ideas, you know?
But I think-
Start pretending you like exes.
Right, or whatever it is.
I mean,
stay off Craigslist. Man, I really miss her.
You'll get through it.
Stay off Craigslist.
Stay off of Craigslist, yeah.
But yeah, I mean, it could make you go a little crazy.
I think it might feel like there's no end in sight,
but there will be an end in sight.
I guess like Ryan said, maybe just your game is you have no game.
Maybe that's charming to some people.
Yeah, I mean, it won't last.
I mean, you said he's in decent shape.
There's a lot of dudes in bad shape.
I mean, maybe you're just in the wrong rooms.
You got to stand out more.
I don't know where you're going to hang out.
But I mean, if you go to my bar as your solo
bar, you're probably not going to have too many chances.
So maybe you just got to be in different rooms.
I don't know where you are.
Do people still do speed dating?
Everyone's kind of on the same page in those places.
Can you do that for a little bit?
I don't know.
It sounds like you're not stepping out of your comfort
zone.
I mean, Japan, you probably went for you enough to meet foreign women, I think.
So, um, I think maybe just, just change the pools you're swimming in.
The shipans can be tough.
I think still still on the Japans.
I like it.
Or a guy.
You use like your, your game with the guys
to your advantage, you know?
Use your guy friends to meet their girlfriends.
You know, have them introduce you to people
or just be in their groups.
Friends are friends, you know?
Have them set you up with people.
Just things like that.
You got no game, but just be around girls,
things like that.
Go out with your handsome friend, catch the runoff.
See how that works.
Or get uglier friends.
The most unattractive friends ever.
Just seek them out, recruit them.
They're like, hi.
Yeah, I mean, this email's funny enough
and you're pretty self-deprecating
and socially it sounds like you're pretty comfortable
in all these other settings.
You just gotta figure out what the equation is here
to have this work in a way that it's never working for.
I also wonder too, if like you're this bummed out about it,
if you're maybe a little too eager
and that eagerness comes off.
You're in like a spiral.
Yeah, right.
So I mean, if you're used to it.
Your face is always red, I don't know.
Maybe there's something where it's just like,
they can smell it on you.
It's like everything's fine.
You talk a good game until the lights on that comedy stage
go on and you just bomb.
I mean, it could be that, that like everything,
the plan sounds good until you're in it
and then it's just everything goes wrong.
Yeah, I think, I don't know.
I wish I, I wish I had more specifics to all of this, but it sounds like you're
working, it's not like socially you can't do anything, right?
It, you know, sometimes we'll have people write in and just, you can just
tell like the social part of life is, is just an awkward situation for them.
And they're not comfortable.
And it seems like you're comfortable. And a lot of the settings that you think could work when it comes to talking to women.
But yeah, it sounds like you need to just change up the game plan here a little bit. And if it
starts from being really self-deprecating and your buddy's giving you a hard time about it,
you might get sympathy runoff. Where it turns into like, hey, this guy's five, 10, and benches just under a pound of what would be six plates.
But, um, you know.
It's gotta be the kilo conversion.
That's gotta be what it is.
No, I'm sure, I'm sure there's something going on
because I mean, if you really, really are into lifting,
you can order all sorts of like sizes of plates.
If you're trying to, you know,
people deadlifting out there with like half pound plates being like this close, this close. I don't know if we really helped him at all. Maybe the first guy. The 30th anniversary heat date thing, that threw me,
but it was a good email.
Otherwise, I'm sure there's someone that does have that problem if this is fake.
Yeah, and if she's not, she's not going to be able to get it.
I mean, I'm sure she's going to be able to get it.
I mean, I'm sure she's going to be able to get it.
I mean, I'm sure she's going to be able to get it.
I mean, I'm sure she's going to be able to get it.
I mean, I'm sure she's going to be able to get it. I mean, I'm sure she's going to be able to get it. Maybe the first guy. The 30th anniversary heat date thing, that threw me, but it was a good email.
Otherwise, I'm sure there's someone
that does have that problem if this is fake.
Yeah, and if she didn't like heat, dodge the bullet.
Anyway, all right.
I feel like we missed Saruti a little bit today.
Yeah, I mean, we can't be expected.
It's nice to see work out the whole time though.
I love that he just admitted that he's trying to cut.
How many people, what's your max number for your wedding?
We invited 130-ish.
Oh, that's good to know.
Would love to be like 120, 115.
You wanted to get it to 115 and she said no?
We're just hoping people don't come.
We'll see.
Mom just broke up with her boyfriend.
So that's a big plus.
Who, your mom?
No, her mom just broke up with the boyfriend.
No, no, I'd be happy if it was my mom.
Another one bites the dust.
That's terrible, dude.
I mean, you're sitting there being like,
all right, that's one less.
One less.
Heading in the right direction.
Anyone else on the rocks here? Yes. Yeah. And then there being like, all right, that's one less. One less. Heading in the right direction.
Anyone else on the rocks here?
Yes.
Yeah.
You started, like, did you know,
like I don't think he went there for a work trip.
We're like sowing seeds in people's relationships now, yeah.
Oh no, I mean, I'm not saying anything.
It's just, I had heard, I had heard.
Like, all right, two more, two more out.
All right.
