hey guys welcome to motivational Monday
I'm Justin Colby the founder of
motivational Monday as well as the
science of flipping podcast on iTunes as
well as the science of flipping Academy
where you can learn all there is to know
about real estate investing from
wholesaling to flipping a subject to
to lease options to whatever it may be.
So welcome to Motivational Monday.
And if you've never seen our Motivational Mondays, make sure you do.
Make sure you get over to the website, thescienceofflipping.com, not only just to get the e-book on there,
but I do have a surprise coming for all those that do register on thescienceflipping.com.
It's a very cool thing. I've been working on it for a couple weeks now, so make sure to register
on thescienceflipping.com. Get your e-book, but there'll be something very cool coming up in the
next week or two. Listen, let's get started on this Motivational Monday. I want to talk to you a little bit about a student of mine who was taking direction from
me and I was talking to her about her marketing and meeting with sellers and she got really
excited because her direct mail marketing that I always advocate really got her first
meeting with the seller and this is a student who has spent tens and twenty of thousands of dollars
uh... on
really big time real estate coaching
and really got
nowhere with it
and not to say that that's bad but it really took me to kind of drive her
uh... to do a certain type of marketing campaign
that she then did
well once she did it she got very excited and
she was very grateful. But guess what? When it came time to meet the seller, she was dealing
with the wife the whole time. And when she came and met the seller at the home, the husband showed
up and was furious. The husband had no idea that she was speaking to the wife. The husband had no idea
that the wife was trying to sell the home. He was irate, if you can imagine. And my student
handled it the best she could. Obviously, she didn't get that deal. But she shot me a text
message either that day or the day after and said,
hey, can we talk? It's kind of an emergency. And I said, absolutely. I'm always there for
my students. And what happened was she was done. She was terrified. She was nervous or
huge anxiety. She didn't want to deal with that anymore. And after speaking with her, I was able to just simply say, listen, I understand that
that situation was unique.
I understand that that situation sucked.
I understand you don't want to deal with that situation anymore.
However, if you are wanting to be a real estate investor, there are times that things are going to happen that don't go perfectly.
And it doesn't have to be as crazy as a husband not knowing that the wife was trying to sell her
home. But there are going to be things that happen that are unexpected or that are not favorable to
you. It's just part of the game. And once you realize that, and once you know that you still want to be a real estate investor
and that you can help other people sell their home or deal with the transaction that they
otherwise couldn't, and you're clear on your vision, then those things won't bother you
so much.
And that you need to understand that not everything's going to be perfect, right?
Friendships aren't perfect. Friendships aren't perfect.
Relationships aren't perfect.
Relationships between parents and kids aren't perfect.
Business isn't always perfect.
But you can prepare and you can do your very best to make sure that every circumstance
you're in is always the best for you and for the people around you.
So I was able to talk to her just
simply about this has happened to me. This isn't just your burden or something that just happened
to you. There are going to be other times in the future where it's not going to be ideal. Things
are going to arise that you're not going to love. However, if you want to be a real estate investor and it's in you
and you want it and it's a passion of yours, then nothing is going to stop you. I say this a lot on
Motivational Mondays, but if you know what you want, there is nothing that can stop you. It's
not always going to be perfect and there are going to be speed bumps and other things that happen,
but make sure you know what you
want because when you meet these sellers or whatever other circumstance you might be going
through, understand that this is what I want and nothing is going to slow me down.
That's our motivational Monday for you guys today.
It does happen.
Not every transaction is perfect, but I was able to talk to my student.
She got right back on the horse.
And guess what?
Here comes the happy ending.
Since then, she's stuck with her direct marketing routine.
And she has met with several other sellers.
And her confidence is back.
And she's back on the horse.
And she's going.
And I'm very proud of her.
Because she said, you know what? It is what I want. She
got back to direct mail marketing. She got back to meeting with sellers and things are going in a
very positive direction. So Motivational Mondays each and every week. I'm Justin Colby. And if this
