Starting point is 00:00:00 The lab of the Miscatonic Museum of Natural History's paleontology department was quiet that morning. The air was cool, and ancient dust floated in the beams of sun that cut through the vaulted windows that lined the red brick walls. A ceiling fan spun lethargically between the warm lamps that hummed quietly. An old radio sat on a desk, dr. oldies from its worn speakers. Dr. Kent, a fit man, just past his middle age, leaned back in a chair behind the desk and held a copy of the journal of vertebrate paleontology in one hand. The cover was rolled back and acted as a handle. He propped his other hand behind his head and his feet on the table.
Starting point is 00:00:44 He wore a red flannel shirt tucked into khaki field pants that fell on brown leather boots. Sometimes he thought about wearing a cowboy hat just to complete the look. He took the hand from behind his head and slapped his fingers against the pages of the open journal. You see this. Some more shit about Spinosaurus, he said. The graduate student who was bent over a table in the center of the lab did not look up when he replied, There's always something new about Spinosaurus, Doc.
Starting point is 00:01:14 He wasn't wrong. Dr. Kent put the journal down on his desk, stood up, and stretched before walking to the table where the man worked. The young man worked delicately to expose a fossilized bone from the stone matrix that surrounded it. Looking good, Dr. Kent said. He smiled. He couldn't remember the student's name and that embarrassed him.
Starting point is 00:01:37 He truly cared about the men and women who worked in his lab. His difficulty with their names felt like an insult. He told himself he tried hard to remember names, but knew he didn't. Thank you, the young man said. Dr. Kent could see the pride on the man's face, a pride bolstered by Kent's simple compliment. Kent, rounded the table and stole a glance at the student's name badge. Patrick Carroll. Patrick Carroll, Patrick Carroll, he repeated to himself.
Starting point is 00:02:08 It was no use. The name faded as he stood over the fossil and looked at its emerging curves. The fossil femur of an allosaurus sat almost entirely exposed from the ancient sedimentary rock that had obscured it from the world for millennia. He was glad to see the progress on the fossil. The reveal of the new skeleton was scheduled for Monday, just two days away, and they were cutting it close. But the preparation would be finished today, and with the bone freed, it would immediately be cast and added to the skeleton. They would meet their deadline.
Starting point is 00:02:43 Keep up the good work, Mr. Carroll, Dr. Kent said, while he chanced another look at the name badge. The student nodded his thanks and continued his meticulous work. Dr. Kent left the lab and walked through a warmly lit hall. The passage was lined on each side with glass cases containing beautifully prepared trilobite fossils. The star-black anthropods were bent into a myriad of shapes. Their bodies showed the twisted forms that death had immortalized. He stopped to admire one particularly intricate specimen.
Starting point is 00:03:17 He remembered the painstaking process of freeing the fossils' long eyestocks, delicately thin appendages that stretched from the back of its ribbed carapace. He remembered how nervous he was to finally be given the responsibility of such precise work as a new PhD candidate. He smiled. That felt like a lifetime ago. He continued down the hallway towards the dinosaur exhibition. The museum hadn't opened yet, and the worn heels of his boots echoed in the empty passage as they clicked against the tiled floor. He heard the hum of a floor buffer in the distance and could smell the sweet scent of polishing wax as he arrived at the dinosaur hall. A Tyrannosaurus rex skull hung over the entrance like the trophy of some time-bending hunter.
Starting point is 00:04:06 Below the skull, spelled out in a strong sans-serif font was the word dinosaurs. Dinosaurs, he said to himself. He'd loved the word for as long as he could remember. Just saying it brought fog-shrouted coniferous forests to, his mind. He could smell the dank air as he imagined the hulking beasts that prowled the dense brush. He walked into the hall and passed a beautiful display, showing a pack of dynonicus' pouncing on the back of a stegosaurus. The lithe predators slashed at the spiked-tailed behemoth with the inches-long claws that stuck out from their feet like cimitars. He walked past
Starting point is 00:04:47 more life-sized dioramas of ancient scenes, but he was singularly focused on a skeleton that stood behind a partition in the back of the hall. Harsh, freestanding lights lit up the area behind the temporary walls. Dr. Kent opened a door in the wall labeled Staff only and stepped into the bright glow. An almost complete allosaurus skeleton stood with its head high, the bright lights served to facilitate work rather than add any artistic accent. Still, the mighty theropod brought goosebumps to Dr. Kent's arms. From tail to snobes. out, it was as long as a school bus. Its short, strong arms ended with turned in hands, tipped by razor claws that were ready to grab hold of any unfortunate victim. No matter how many
Starting point is 00:05:35 times he saw one of these gigantic predators, he would always be in awe. He remembered the way his heart raced when he spotted the fossilized bone, sticking out from the cliff face in the bad lands of Wyoming. A tiny piece, invisible to anyone who was not anxiously and ever, expertly scanning the rock-fallen sides of the collapsing cliffs. It turned out to be the tip of a tail, and Dr. Kent's excitement built as they began to peel away layer after layer of rock. As the bone was slowly exposed, it became apparent that they had found an almost complete allosaurus skeleton.
Starting point is 00:06:12 He could still taste the warm bottle of Verve Clico that had passed around in camp that night. They had spent weeks excavating the skeleton, packing the bones, still in their matrix, with wet toilet paper and plaster, and sending them on the long journey to the museum. After more months of preparation, fossils slowly emerged from raw stone. Now, the mighty alasaurus stood almost complete, a composite of resin casts and real fossils expertly mounted on an almost invisible frame. Only one femur was missing. The left femur was a real fossil, a stunning example to showcase for the museum's guests. The right femur would be a cast. The real fossil would stay in the lab for research. The cast would be made and mounted today.
Starting point is 00:07:02 Tomorrow would be Sunday, and the museum would be closed. That gave time for final review of the exhibit before its opening on Monday. It would be a long day and a long night, and Dr. Kent would stay for the entirety. It was a balancing act to both support his team and not get in their way. He was staying the night out of solidarity more than anything. He trusted his team and would stay out of their way as they worked. He made a note to find something nice for them once this was finished. That bottle of verve came to mind again. He admired the skeleton a while longer. He traced his eyes up the length of its back and across the side of its skull. The massive jaws were open and the serrated teeth sat in vicious rows.
Starting point is 00:07:49 Dr. Kent walked back to the lab. Patrick had fully exposed the femur fossil and had begun coding it for casting. Dr. Kent observed, but did not interfere. He always felt awkward watching his team work. He did not like thinking that they considered him a micromanaging nuisance. But they worked diligently through the day and into the night, and he watched them do so. The cast was made and poured, and it dried throughout the day. The resulting false femur was mounted on the frame next to the true femur.
Starting point is 00:08:22 Dr. Kent reviewed the work and dismissed the team. He stood under the now-complete skeleton and switched off the bright lights. The room faded to the warm glow that best presented fossils for display. He switched these off too as he left the dinosaur hall and left the museum in the small hours of the morning. Dr. Kent was the first to the museum the following morning. He stood alone in front of the allosaurus skeleton. His third coffee of the morning steamed in a mug he held. He rubbed his face with his free hand. He was tired from the long night, but he could swear the skull of the skeleton had shifted overnight. He would tell the team so they could review the fittings
Starting point is 00:09:07 on the framework. Still, it was as impressive as ever. He smiled as he imagined the excited faces of the children who would come to see the new dinosaur. He remembered what it was like to stand raptured at the feet of a dinosaur as a kid. He loved to share that feeling with new generations as the years went on. Dr. Kent went to the lab and waited for his team to arrive. They shuffled in steadily, dark bags hanging under their eyes. Dr. Kent looked them over and was sympathetic to their exhaustion. The routine work of the lab could wait. He dismissed them, and they staggered out of the museum with mumbled thanks. He wished he had thought to let them have the day off before they had come in,
Starting point is 00:09:54 but it was better than nothing. Dr. Kent returned to the allosaurus skeleton to review its mountings himself. He furled his brow as he walked beneath the dinosaur. He could swear it had shifted yet again. This time an arm had slumped lower than he remembered. He pulled a ladder from where it rested against the partition, and settled it beneath the skeleton. He climbed the ladder's aluminum rungs
Starting point is 00:10:20 and checked the bolts that held the skeleton to the frame. They were as solid as they should be. There was no play and no way for any of the fossils or casts to shift inside their bindings. Dr. Kent climbed back down the ladder and returned it to its place against the wall. He looked over the skeleton again. Perhaps he was imagining things.
Starting point is 00:10:43 Anyways, it looked fantastic the way of it. it was, and he let the thought pass as he walked back to the lab. He gathered his things. There was nothing of particular importance for him to do, and he was exhausted as the rest of the team. He secured the lab and left the museum, locking the heavy wooden doors behind him. Dr. Kent stood to the side of the allosaurus skeleton. It was early and the museum had not opened yet. He watched as his team worked. Patrick, by some miracle he had remembered his name, stood in the middle of a ladder and
Starting point is 00:11:35 reached his hand down toward a woman wearing a hat with a geology hammer embroidered on the front. Dr. Kent couldn't remember her name. Reach a little dude, Patrick said to him. hammer hat. He stretched his fingers, and she stood on her toes. His fingers hit the cloth of the white sheet she was handing up to him, and he reeled an armful of the material into his chest, holding the bundle in place with one hand as he climbed with the other, the long white sheet hanging below him. All right, get ready, Patrick said. Dr. Kent and Hammerhat stood at either
Starting point is 00:12:09 leg of the skeleton, and Patrick tossed the white cloth over the dinosaur's skull. The sheet fell gracefully to each side of the skeleton and the pair below caught handfuls of the soft fabric. The team worked to spread the fabric across the skeleton evenly, covering it up for the big reveal. Looks like some kind of gigantic Halloween decoration, Hammer hat said. Yeah, all it needs is a couple of eye holes, Patrick added. Good job, guys. Let's get this partition out of the way. People will be lining up soon, Dr. Kent finished. They broke down the partition, stacking the pieces against a corner that was bathed in shadow. It would do until they could get the pieces out of the hall.
Starting point is 00:12:53 There was no reason to try and beat the rush now. The museum opened and the crowds filtered in steadily. Everyone lined up at the dinosaur hall. A crowd stood behind the velvet ropes that surrounded the new skeleton. The cluster of people filtered into a line that stretched to the entrance of the dinosaur hall and out into the museum beyond. Dr. Kent stood by the veiled dinosaur with a microphone in his hand. He debated dressing up for the event,
Starting point is 00:13:22 but realized that people wanted to see a paleontologist, and he knew what that meant. He wore his standard flannel khaki's boots uniform. Thank you all for coming. He began. The microphone screeched with feedback, and he held it away from his face while it went silent. There was movement behind him as Patrick fumbled with the sound.
Starting point is 00:13:43 board. Dr. Kent brought the microphone back to his lips. As you know, this is one of the greatest finds of the past decade. We are incredibly proud to have brought this fossil to life for you. We know how lucky we are to be able to add yet another beautiful specimen to our collection here at the museum. And we hope that you all will join us in celebration as we add another page to the story of our Earth's history. Without further ado, Dr. Kent turned toward the skeleton. Patrick and Hammerhat stood at the base of the skeleton, holding the ends of the cloth. They pulled hard and kept pulling hand over hand as the white cloth fell away from the skeleton.
Starting point is 00:14:24 The flashes of cameras snapped through the hall as the allosaurus was revealed. Applaws rang out, and enthusiastic whistles floated through the air. Dr. Kent watched as the crowd filtered by in an orderly but buzzing line. The pointing and chatting and smiling of the crowd filled him with pride. Foremost, a pride in his team. It was their diligent work that brought the new display to life in time for the scheduled deadline. Dr. Kent looked at the skeleton, admiring its ferocious appearance. His eyes squinted as he looked over the beast.
Starting point is 00:15:01 Once again, he felt like something was different about the dinosaur. He shrugged and turned back to the crowd. It must be nerves and an active imagination. Dr. Kent left the dinosaur hall and enjoyed the feeling of a full museum as he walked to the entrance hall. The crowd moved in all directions around him as he walked. Their voices, a buzz of homogenous excitement.
Starting point is 00:15:27 He felt a tug at his elbow, and he turned around to face a boy. The child looked up at him, wide-eyed. Excuse me, Dr. Kent! The boy held up a copy of the dinosaur diaries. hunting prehistoric beasts in the badlands, and held a clear ballpoint pen. Could you please sign this? The boy sounded nervous. Of course, Dr. Kent said.
Starting point is 00:15:50 He smiled as he opened the book to the title page. And what was your favorite part? He signed the paper with bold strokes. Oh, I liked when the avalanche covered your dig site. That was exciting. I'm glad you guys dug everything back out. Ha, quite the weak that was. Dr. Kent said. He remembered the feeling of his soaked shirt and the way the dirt had stuck to his sweaty skin.
Starting point is 00:16:15 Thank you, Dr. Kent. The boy said as he walked away with his mother. Dr. Kent waved and then returned to his own walk. He walked into the museum's massive entrance hall, and the chatter of the crowd was suddenly bolstered by echoes as the voices bounced around the cavernous space. Dr. Kent went to the bank of elevators against a sidewall. The upper floors were closed, closed for renovations, but he pressed his keycard against his sensor in the wall and a light turned from red to green. He pressed the elevator call button. He waited and watched children pulling at the sleeves of their parents,
Starting point is 00:16:52 dragging them with excited faces to the various displays that lined the sides of the vast space. The elevator arrived with a chime and Dr. Kent stepped inside. It was glass-walled and he continued to look at the crowd as the elevator, raised him to the third floor, the top floor of the museum. He was faced to fin with the blue whale skeleton that was suspended from the ceiling when the elevator bounced to a stop. Each floor had a balcony that circled the building with exhibits branching off into hallways. Dr. Kent left the elevator and walked to the railing of the third floor balcony. He leaned his hands on the wooden vanister and looked down, still watching the crowd. They looked like a little
Starting point is 00:17:38 foraging insects from this height. The crowd below began to agitate. It was hard to notice at first, but Dr. Kent was tuned to patterns. He saw the hesitation, the way the crowd glanced around, not quite knowing what was happening. He looked around the hall, his face stern as he tried to figure out why the change had come over the guests. The agitation grew, and the murmur of the crowd began to quiet as they moved slowly and randomly in the hall. Many had stopped to crane their necks, trying to get a glimpse down the trilobite hallway. A sound pierced through the air, and it took Dr. Kent more than a moment to realize it was a scream. His heart pounded in his chest, and his knuckles turned white as he gripped the railing.
Starting point is 00:18:25 The scream had been joined and turned to a chorus of horrible cries. The crowd's confused agitation turned to utter chaos instantly. The screaming spread. A wave of bodies flew from the trilobite hall, looks of terror on their faces as they tried to flee something. The screams continued as bodies piled into the entrance hall. Dr. Kent heard a rhythmic pounding. It grew louder.
Starting point is 00:18:50 It came closer. He could feel vibrations through the ground, even on the third floor. Then, from the trilobite hallway, a gigantic skeleton burst into the room below. The allosaurus raised its head as if to roar, but there were no lungs to push the air. It opened its blood-soaked jaws in terrifying silence as the crowd fled in front of its massive feet.
Starting point is 00:19:14 Dr. Kent watched as the terrible thing bent its head into the crowd and raised it again. A body was clasped in its jaws. The helpless man screamed as the skeleton shook its head violently. It opened and closed its jaws, and the man's screams were silenced as he was torn apart. The dinosaur discarded the lindexamined. Bonnie with a vicious jerk of its neck, and the corpse split in two as it flew through the air
Starting point is 00:19:40 before shattering the glass of a display case, exhibiting the family of pandas. Dr. Kent's knees shook and he fell to the ground. He leaned his back against the banister and tried to swallow, struggling against his drying mouth. He held his hands to his temples, his ears wrung, and his head ached as he tried to comprehend what he saw. He could hear the screams quieting one by one below him as the sound of tearing meat and crashing footsteps ripped into his ears. For a moment, he wondered how any of this was possible, but the thought was so useless that he barely noticed it. His legs began to feel steady again, and he stood slowly, and finally felt his feet strong against the floor. The ringing had left his ears, and the ache in his skull
Starting point is 00:20:30 had dulled. He looked down into the hall below and wretched as he saw the carnage. He choked the vomit down as he surveyed the scene. No one was in the hall anymore. No one alive. The skeleton had moved through and was out of sight. In its wake, it left a pile of torn corpses, a disgusting mess of indistinguishable flesh and body parts resting in dark pools of blood. He ran to the stairwell, keying 911 into his phone as he moved. He slammed the door open and started to descend as he pressed the call button and held the phone to his ear. The operator answered, and he slowed his descent as he spoke to them. Yes, this is the Miscatonic Museum of Natural History.
Starting point is 00:21:15 There's some sort of animal attack. No, I don't know what type. Yes, it's mayhem. Please, yes, send... The line crackled, and a rough male voice came over the phone. What? How do you know more? my name? Who is this? Dr. Kent continued to the bottom of the stairwell and pressed his palm
Starting point is 00:21:44 against the door bar. The door cracked open. He heard fading screams in the distance, but the entrance hall was silent. He pushed the door open and watched as it slid across the blood-soaked floor, smearing the red liquid like a broken windshield wiper. A shiver ran through him, and his breath came faster as he stood frozen in the doorway. He couldn't help but remember that a human body held over a gallon of blood, and now hundreds of those gallons were spread at his feet. Starting point is 00:22:45 Welcome to aboard, Via Rai, Embarked and Profite. Embarked and Celebrate. Rigolet. Publied. Savoray. Admire. And enjoy and profite. Via Rae, the voice we love that we love.
Starting point is 00:23:00 He looked toward the exit and saw a pile of corpses slammed into the open doors. The windows were smashed, and the windows were smashed, and the windows were smashed. The same mounds of bodies were piled in front of them. He could move them and get out of the museum. He heard a whimper, and a shot of adrenaline scorched his veins. A child. He no longer thought of the exit as he shuffled his feet through the blood, trying not to slip as he maneuvered around piles of flesh.
Starting point is 00:23:26 He followed the little noise. It came from the shattered remains of a display, and he saw a young girl hiding behind the rubble. She sat on the ground with her knees pulled into her chest. She couldn't have been older than nine. Dr. Kent moved slowly. He reached out and put a hand on the child's shoulder. She recoiled.
Starting point is 00:23:48 It's okay. You're going to be okay. The child said nothing, but she looked up at Dr. Kent, and he felt his heart drop. Her small, bloodshot eyes were full of fear. I'm Dr. Kent. What's your name? He smiled warmly. The girl did not reply.
Starting point is 00:24:06 Well, it's nice to meet you. I think we better get out of here, huh? She nodded slowly, a blank look of confusion and terror on her face. The distant screams had stopped, and the vibrating footsteps of the dinosaur sounded through the long hall that led to the entrance hall where Dr. Kent huddled with the girl. He thought to run with her towards the exits,
Starting point is 00:24:29 but the thunderous steps grew clear, and he saw ripples in the puddles of blood at his feet. The footsteps grew louder. and the crimson ripples more violent. The shattered glass that laid scattered in the room rang with each crashing footstep. Dr. Kent held his finger to his lips and put his arm around the girl.
Starting point is 00:24:48 She still said nothing. The skeleton ran into the room. It slowed to a walk, its massive legs smashing into the ground as it scanned its head across the space. A corpse sat limp in its massive jaws, blood dripping from the dangling limbs. The dinosaur stopped and squeezed its jaws together.
Starting point is 00:25:10 It shivered as the body in its mouth was shredded into three pieces. The crunching of the corpse's bones echoed through the hall. The slabs of meat fell from the dinosaur's skull and splashed to the floor with dull buds. The skeleton moved again. It stepped slowly through the blood and corpses. It swung its head, and Dr. Kent knew it was testing the air, but it had no nose to smell with. Still, for a brief second, Dr. Kent was enthralled by the behavior. He was seeing things he had only dreamt of, that he had only hypothesized. Now, it was in front of him.
Starting point is 00:25:48 The thought passed as soon as it came. The dinosaur stepped closer to the huddled bear. The sound of sirens could be heard outside, but the thumping of helicopter blades soon drowned them out. The skeleton turned its head to the sound, but did not falter in its path. a path that took it directly to the doctor and the child. It stepped and stepped again. The room shook each time its massive feet slammed into the ground. It was feet away from them now,
Starting point is 00:26:18 and Dr. Kent covered the girl's eyes as the dinosaur approached. It stopped and again scanned its fleshless head across the room, this time bringing its snout within inches of the debris that the two were hiding behind. The girl pulled her head away from Dr. Kent's hand. She raised a tiny finger and pointed it at the nearest wall. Dr. Kent followed the finger and looked to the wall. Of course, the small closet. It was thin, but it was deep.
Starting point is 00:26:47 He nodded at the little girl and he smiled again. He felt a warmth flow through his body, the young girl's bravery inspiring his own. The closet was a few meters away that could make it. He picked up a large shard of glass, careful to be as silent as possible. He could hear the skeleton moving behind the debris that shielded him and the girl. He swore he could smell the beast's breath, but knew that was impossible.
Starting point is 00:27:13 He threw the glass shard, and it shattered with a piercing noise. He heard the dinosaur move violently. He risked a peek over the debris. It had turned to the noise and was walking towards the shattered glass. He could hear his pulse pounding in his temples as he watched the skeleton move away from them. He scooped the girl into his arms and made a run for the closet door. The dinosaur immediately turned to him and the girl. It shook with rage as it ran towards them.
Starting point is 00:27:43 Dr. Kant grit his teeth as he crossed the open, blood-stained floor that led to the closet. He ran. He could feel his feet slipping under him, but he ran. He heard the thunderous footsteps behind him and could feel the terrible vibrations of each pounding foot. He was screaming through gritted teeth when he made it to the door. He dove to the ground and slid past the severed arm that clung to the door handle. He slipped into the room with the girl in his arms, sliding through the congealing blood that covered the floor. He let go of the girl, and she continued to slide into the back wall,
Starting point is 00:28:17 and he turned towards the door just in time to see the skeleton stumble, its feet slipping as it fell to the floor. Its momentum carried it to the closet door, and its snapping jaws desperately tried to fish its prey from the room. Dr. Kent pushed himself to the back wall and pulled the girl close. They watched as the dinosaur crashed the serrated blades in its mouth together. They snapped like a sledgehammer smashing railroad spikes. An explosion ripped through the air, and the skeleton turned away from the closet door. It led out a soundless roar and began to walk steadily toward the source of the sound.
Starting point is 00:28:54 Stay here, Dr. Kent whispered to the girl. He crawled to the door and looked into the room. beyond. An explosion had ripped through the wall near the entrance of the museum. Pink dust floated in the air where the red brick had been blown away. Masked men began to filter into the hall through the breach. Each one carried a rifle. They wore black uniforms and helmets, with what looked like Velociraptor skulls stenciled on the sides with white spray paint. Dr. Kent watched as the men fanned around the room. Their weapons were trained on the advancing dinosaur and they did not waver. He admired their bravery as they stood ready to meet the
Starting point is 00:29:34 charging beast. One of the men shouted a command and two of the others fired payloads from the launchers that were slung under the barrels of their rifles. Black globs flew through the air and slammed into the legs of the charging dinosaur. It fell and Dr. Kent could see that the black substance had fused the joints of the skeleton. It flailed its neck and body as it still tried to attack, clenching and unclenching its razor-tipped hands. More men advanced on the struggling skeleton. A crack ripped through the air, and then another. The beast had broken whatever it was that fused its legs. It sprang with renewed fury and snatched the nearest man in its jaws. The rest of the squad shot more of the black globs at the skeleton. The skeleton tore into the man it held in
Starting point is 00:30:24 its jaws, even as its bones began to fuse. The dinosaur stumbled. and finally fell to the ground as each of its joints was locked by the black substance. It shook as it lay on the ground. It still tried to attack anything it could see. Whatever was left of the man it had attacked, now dripped from its frozen jaws. The men cautiously approached the vibrating skeleton and verified it was immobile.
Starting point is 00:30:50 More black-clothed personnel filtered into the room, carrying various strange instruments. The men with the guns gestured to them, and they approached the laying beast. A fire team had left the squad and was policing the area, patrolling the entrance hall. Dr. Kent waved his arms, but couldn't bring himself to shout. The men saw Dr. Kent and walked steadily towards him,
Starting point is 00:31:14 their feet gliding across the blood-soaked floor with practice precision. They approached Dr. Kent and shined their weapon-mounted lights into the closet. The girl shielded her eyes against the white beams. You too. Come with us, one of the black-clad men said. Dr. Kent held the girl's hand as the armed men escorted them to the breach in the wall. They passed the shuddering skeleton, and Dr. Kent looked at the workers attaching things he couldn't identify to the skeleton. They stood with laptops monitoring something he could not see.
Starting point is 00:31:48 The armed men stood at the perimeter with their hands resting on the buttstocks of the rifles that hung at their chests. They walked through the hole in the wall, and Dr. Kent squinted against the glauble. of the sun. His eyes straining as they adjusted to the daylight. He saw matte black vans parked in a line in front of a row of black and white police cars. Men in black suits argued with plain-clothed police officers as more men in black unloaded crates from the back of one of the black vans. The men escorted Dr. Kent and the girl to the back of a black ambulance. They sat on the edge of the ambulances opened back and a woman in a white lab coat brought them warm cups. Coffee for Dr. Kent and hot chocolate for the girl.
Starting point is 00:32:32 Dr. Kent stared into his coffee. He didn't try to process everything that had happened. Not yet. Dr. Kent felt a tap on his arm. He looked down at the girl and she looked up at him. I'm Allie, she said. Dr. Kent felt a lump form in his throat as the white-coated woman shuffled through a case of medicine.
Starting point is 00:32:54 The crows that lived in the gnarled oaks that surrounded the Miscatonic music, of natural history, cried into the warm air. Dr. Kent looked at Ali. I'm Eric, he said. He tried not to let her see the tears in his eyes as he held her hand. SCP 250 is an animated fossilized skeleton of an allosaurus, originally classified as alasaurus fragilis. They were recovered, but incomplete scientific article suggests this identification may be incorrect. The skeleton consists of 153 disarticulated bones and 14 plaster and fiberglass replacements, all held together
Starting point is 00:33:39 and animated by an unknown force. Despite extensive research, this force remains unexplained due to the entity's aggressive nature, which prevents close examination. SCP 250 behaves as if it were a living allosaurus, following a daily routine, wandering its enclosure during the day, and entering a dormant state at night. It actively hunts and attacks anything it perceives as suitable prey, including humans, despite lacking muscles, organs, or digestive structures.
