Starting point is 00:00:00 The Hulu original series Furious is coming to Disney Plus, starring Emmy Rossum. Furious follows FBI agent Alice Black on the hunt for a mysterious and calculating serial killer. Both walk their own paths toward justice, and as their lives start to intertwine, the line between right and wrong begins to blur. Don't miss the three-episode premiere of the Hulu original series Furious on July 27th, only on Hulu on Disney Plus. My name is Peter Parker, but I'm also Spider-Man. This July, we're faced with a threat.
Starting point is 00:00:37 That can be anyone. The world may have forgotten Peter Parker. I'm just a neighbor, friendly neighbor. But he hasn't forgotten them. Sometimes Spider-Man has to do the hard thing. That's my responsibility. Dr. Banner? I didn't know you could get that big.
Starting point is 00:00:53 Spider-Man, brand-new day. In theaters, July 31st. Winner chicken dinner. Albert Thorpe smiled. as he pulled his winnings toward him while onlookers clapped and clinked their glasses. You're on a roll, Mr. Thorpe, the dealer said while shuffling the cards with deft movements. Aren't I always, Billy? Albert replied. Billy nodded.
Starting point is 00:01:24 Right, sir. A blonde woman in a sleek black dress eyed Albert from a nearby table. She ran her delicate fingers through her perfectly styled hair, smoothing it even further. He winked at her and turned away. Unsurprisingly, she came over a moment later and slid up not. next to him. A drink for the lady, my dear. Albert said to a passing cocktail waitress, who quickly returned with a glass of champagne.
Starting point is 00:01:48 How considerate. The woman replied with a spread of her ruby red lips. Albert slid his attention back to the table long enough to place a rather large bet and flash his gold rings. And what should I call you, my dear? She studied him for a moment with her deep brown eyes before replying. Gloria. Beautiful. Albert said as he took her hand to kiss it.
Starting point is 00:02:09 took her hand to kiss it. I'm... I know who you are, Mr. Thorpe. Ah, my reputation precedes me. It's Albert, nice to meet you, Albert. The pleasure is all mine, my dear, he replied with a grin. Another win, the dealer interrupted as he flipped over a card. Albert always enjoyed his time at the casino, but tonight was proving particularly enjoyable. Ever since his wife left him, he'd begun to worry about his luck with the ladies. It was so easy to attract them when he was taken. So why was it hard now? Was it his graying scalp, his growing paunch, or had word of his wife's murder gotten out? Maybe the ladies were scared. But not this one. This one didn't know about his sordid past or didn't care. And he was lapping up the attention. It was about time women started appreciating him again.
Starting point is 00:03:01 God knows his wife never did. It never mattered how much money he brought home, how many gifts he bought her, she could never accept his need for mistresses. Looking back, she probably also knew where his money really came from. She was smarter than he usually gave her credit for. That's why she had to go. He missed her sometimes. His Angela. His sweet, smart, sassy sweetheart. But Angela was gone. And now there was Gloria. Gloria, who filled out her skin-tight dress in all the right places. Albert's smile widened as he clinked his glass with hers. This was going to be a good night. Indeed. Outside, Thomas, the doorman, tipped his hat to one of the casino's regular customers as he walked through the door. Evening, Mr. Coy. He was rewarded with a growl of acknowledgement, but Thomas kept his polite smile in place like he always did.
Starting point is 00:03:55 It was his job, after all. Mr. Coy quickly disappeared from sight as a new couple stepped through the door, all but ignoring Thomas. Mr. Coy's steps were light as a feather as he walked to the carpeted gaming floor. The space was alive with a mix of high-pitched laughter and moans of despair. He passed a fat, greasy-haired man who looked like he'd been sitting at the same slot machine for days. Stubble lined his cheeks, and he had a far-away look in his eyes, perhaps dreaming about the moment he would finally win. Mr. Coy ignored the man as he walked by, and the man ignored him. Ruth, the cocktail waitress, was ready and waiting with her drink tray. Good evening, Mr. Coy, would you care for a drink? She received the same response as Thomas, and, without missing a beat, continued to make her rounds,
Starting point is 00:04:43 her sequined uniform glittering under the light of the crystal chandeliers. Mr. Coy stayed where he was, observing the room with keen yellow eyes. The smell of body odor was prevalent, along without of cooking meat coming from the buffet to his left. His eyes lingered on the lamb chops, set in gleaming silver dishes, just begging to be eaten. but he forced himself to turn away, to focus on the gaming table scattered throughout the room. He walked forward, passing a roulette table where a middle-aged woman was confidently stating to her companion, I always bet on black. Mr. Coy paused for a moment to watch the ball stop on a red seven.
Starting point is 00:05:23 The woman released a nervous titter and drank deeply from her glass of champagne. She quickly looked away when she locked eyes with Mr. Coy. A row of slot machines was lined up to his right along the far wall. That side of the room emitted constant beeps and clangs as tokens came pouring out, along with desperate sighs when they didn't. Nearly every man and woman held a cigarette to their lips, and smoke billowed about the room, curling around the chandeliers and making everything hazy. But worse than that was the stench of perfume emanating from an older woman in a skimpy outfit, standing awkwardly by one of the poker tables.
Starting point is 00:06:00 Mr. Coy choked on the smell as he hurried past. He didn't want to be here longer than necessary, yet almost all the men in suits looked the same. They all wore smug expressions and had an elegant woman or two on their arm. He paused at the poker table and narrowed his eyes at a pudgy middle-aged man downing a beer. But when the man put the glass down, Mr. Coy could see his face, and he moved along. The woman in front of him suddenly roared with laughter and stepped back. Her heel clamped down on Mr. Coy's foot, and he let out a yelp of pain. The woman turned so fast that she spilled half her drink onto her dress, but she didn't seem to notice.
Starting point is 00:06:39 She smiled and looked at Mr. Coy with glazed eyes. Oh, I'm so sorry. I didn't see you there. Mr. Coy ignored her, and she shrugged with indifference. But the commotion caused several bystanders to look his way, and one of them led out a whoop and rushed towards him. Coy, old boy, isn't this swell? I haven't seen you in ages. It was a young man, perhaps in his early 20s, wearing a son. slick come over and a bright aqua shirt with a skinny black tie where have you been you know my mom was asking about you the other day she asked what is
Starting point is 00:07:13 cousin Otto been up to lately and I realized that I hadn't a clue how's Aunt Agatha I heard about her latest husband put a shame I hope she's holding up okay mr. Coy remained silent while the young man continued speaking how's your sister doing I heard you got married is that true to some German fellow or some sort She always was the black sheep at the family, eh? Mark! Someone shouted from the poker table behind them, and Mark turned. Mr. Coy took a step forward, but before he could escape, Mark looked at him again and gestured to the table.
Starting point is 00:07:46 Come meet my friends, but don't say anything embarrassing in front of the redhead, okay? I've almost convinced her to go out with me. Mr. Coy had no choice but to join the table, as Mark introduced his friends one by one. The best he could do was manage an awkward grimace as he continued searching the room. for his prey. It's so nice to meet someone who grew up with Mark. I'm sure you have all kinds of stories to tell. The Redhead winked at Mr. Coy. Mark glared at him with wide eyes, silently begging him to keep quiet. A second later, a cheer erupted a few tables away, and Mr. Coy was able to slip back into the crowd, leaving Mark to seal the deal on his dream girl. Mr. Coy approached
Starting point is 00:08:27 the blackjack table where Albert Thorpe had spent most of his evening, but the man was no longer there, Albert had slipped into the shadows with Gloria, hoping to get lucky again that night. He didn't see Mr. Coy, and Mr. Coy didn't see him, but it was only a matter of time. Once Albert had wiped Gloria's lipstick from his face, he suggested they go to his hotel room. But Gloria wasn't ready to leave yet. She hadn't had enough of the glitz and glamour of the casino floor, and she was still mostly sober. She pulled a drink off Ruth's tray and led Albert back to the gaming tables. Mr. Coy had done a full sweep of the room already, but he wasn't leaving yet either.
Starting point is 00:09:06 He was here for one thing, and one thing only. He picked up his scent first. It was hard to discern among the smoke and two sweet perfumes, but it was there. He followed the trail back to the tables, and there he was. Eight people stood around the poker table, four players and four spectators, as well as the dealer, a young man with a furry mustache. No one noticed Mr. Coy as he crept up beside Albert. No one said anything when he jumped on him, and Albert Thorpe fell to the ground with a loud thud.
Starting point is 00:09:36 No one batted an eye as he ripped his throat out with his teeth, spraying onlookers with dark red blood. Not even Albert seemed concerned about what was happening to him. He didn't fight back, didn't call for help. He didn't even struggle against the mass of muscle on top of him. He lay there as if this moment was a long time coming. The casino carried on as usual while Albert bled to death beside the poker table. People at the buffet continued to enjoy their meal, some going for seconds and thirds. The woman at the roulette table finally gave in and bet on red.
Starting point is 00:10:08 The fat man at the slot machine held his breath as he watched the symbols scroll. Smiles widened, laughter bubbled, and drinks continued being passed around as quickly as they were spilled down throats. Gloria stood above Albert, staring into his eyes as they widened in pain. But she didn't scream. Albert didn't either. No one did. The only sound he emitted was a faint whisper as he took his last breath. Only his killer heard the word.
Starting point is 00:10:35 Ansela. Then Albert closed his eyes and left this world for the next. The predator reared his head and howled when the deed was done. It took 14 seconds for bystanders to finally realize what had happened. Gloria screamed first, a blood-curdling cry that shattered the atmosphere. She stepped back and tripped over the hem of her dress, falling to the bloodied carpet. Her hands landed near Albert's head among Gorge. and chunks of flesh, quickly turning red.
Starting point is 00:11:00 She screamed even louder as she tried to scramble away, half clawing at a suited man to stand, and leaving red handprints all over him. She was still screaming as she shoved her way through the crowd and ran out of the building, passing a bewildered Thomas in her wake. Ruth dropped her tray with a loud clatter. Glass exploded all over the floor,
Starting point is 00:11:18 spraying champagne and whiskey all over her panty hose. Those who could see the body and the perpetrator were torn between fear and confusion. It's not every day you see a man mauled to death while playing poker. It's even stranger when the killer is a coyote standing on the gaming floor of a popular casino. Although everyone who saw him thought he was a man named Mr. Coy, the killer was, in fact, a wild coyote. When Mark saw the beast, his first instinct was to look for his cousin Otto, not yet understanding that the man he'd been speaking to and the coyote before him were one and
Starting point is 00:11:50 the same. Thomas was later grilled about how he had led a wild animal into the casino, but he swore up and down that he didn't. The newly installed cameras confirmed Thomas's account in one respect. No wild animal had entered through the doors at 803 p.m. However, the man Thomas remembered greeting could not be identified on any footage. Those questions would come later. In the moment, fear won out first. Screams overpowered the music, the laughter and the clink of coins. One woman fainted, and her husband was too dumbstruck to notice, let alone catch her. There was a moment of stillness when the coyote looked at the crowd, and the crowd looked at the coyote, his mouth still dripping with blood. The dealer with the furry mustache was the first to move. He dove over
Starting point is 00:12:34 the poker table, his hands outstretched, but the coyote was quick. The beast sidestepped, and the dealer crashed into the crowd instead. The gaming floor became a sea of confusion as people tripped over each other to get to the door, while those at the far end of the room were still trying to figure out what was going on. Thomas was trying to calm people down without knowing what they were running from. He could only hear snippets of the horrified words, such as murder and coyote. But, of course, that didn't make sense. He technically wasn't supposed to leave his post by the doors, but he couldn't help himself. He had to see what was going on. But when Thomas shoved his way through the crowd and reached the body of Albert Thorpe, he wished he had stayed at his post.
Starting point is 00:13:15 Claw marks covered the man's face, and his throat had been violently ripped out, leaving a thin strip of neck, barely attached to the head. Bile rose in his throat, and Thomas turned away, vomiting all over the nearest green felt table. What kind of person could have done such a thing? A deep voice suddenly cut through the smoke and the chaos. Mickey, a security guard with heavy set shoulders and keen eyes, was standing on top of the blackjack table, his face unusually pale and sweaty. There's a coyote loose in the casino. Everybody needs to get out now. Thomas cocked his head. Sure he had misheard. Was coyote some kind of code he wasn't aware of?
Starting point is 00:13:53 Did he miss something in training? Then he saw it, the flash of fur bolting between slot machines. The coyote paused as if sensing his gaze and turned his yellow eyes toward Thomas. Thomas frozen fear, imagining himself in place of the corpse beside him, his throat all but gone, his breath departed from his lungs, his soul parted from his body. But the coyote turned his bloodied snout and trotted out of sight. Thomas breathed the sigh of relief,
Starting point is 00:14:19 momentarily forgetting the pandemonium around him. Mickey had a better vantage point from his place on the table, and he kept a keen eye on the beast. There! He shouted to the mustache dealer as the man went tearing after the animal. But the coyote was an excellent escape artist. He weaved between chairs and table legs like he'd carefully mapped the place out beforehand.
Starting point is 00:14:40 As more and more people ran outside, it became easier to spot him. But that didn't make him easier to catch. Mark bravely told his redhead friend to go on ahead while he stayed behind to help. She gave him a quick peck on the lips and bade him good luck as she rushed away. But the second she was out of sight, Mark ran to the bathroom and hid himself in a stall. He was sure the staff could handle it without him. There was no sense in putting his life at risk. While all this was going on, the fat man at the slot machine remained in his seat.
Starting point is 00:15:08 Eyes still glued to the symbols before him. He heard the screams. He heard someone say, Coyote! He had an inkling that someone had been killed. But none of that mattered if he could just win that jackpot. He didn't even flinch when the coyote brushed against his legs, his coarse fur rubbing against his pant leg, leaving a trail of blood on the fabric. For his part, the coyote remained calm. He wasn't concerned with the people running from him, or even those few running towards him. He'd done what he came here to do, and now it was time to go. He ducked under the blackjack table Mickey was standing on, darted between the legs of the petrified roof, and joined the crowd rushing out the front doors. The casino patrons were so concerned with pushing and shoving each other to reach safety
Starting point is 00:15:49 that they didn't even notice the coyote weaving through them. He pushed his way through the doors and sniffed the fresh air. And just like that, he was gone. By dawn, the casino floor had been cleared. Albert Thorpe's body was gone, and not a single bloodstain remained. The shattered glass, the spilled drinks, and the few coyote hairs scattered through the room all disappeared. The Gamma 5 task force worked quickly and efficiently.
Starting point is 00:16:14 like always. The following morning, newspapers landed on doorsteps and were opened over breakfast, each one telling the same story, the story of Albert Thorpe, the mob boss, who was severely beaten and murdered by an unnamed rival mobster. A woman named Gloria was quoted in the article as a witness. She told reporters, it was a horrible, malevolent attack that I'll never forget. When asked to describe the perpetrator, she said, he was tall and thin, with dark hair and a thick mustache. Police hadn't determined who the murderer was, but assured the public that they were not in danger. Other witnesses at the casino verified glorious story. Thomas remembered welcoming the man inside and thinking he looked suspicious. Ruth recalled, serving him a bloody Mary, and said
Starting point is 00:17:02 he smelled like tobacco. Mickey could still picture him running away, his long legs pumping as he expertly weaved through the crowd. When Mark looked back on that night, he vaguely remembered bumping into someone he knew, but he could never remember who it was. His redhead friend fondly recalled his bravery that night and agreed to go out with him. He told everyone the story of how he chased the murderous mobster through the casino and would have caught him if he hadn't tripped on a bump in the carpet. The coyote returned to the wilderness and joined his family as if he'd never been gone. SCP 2549 is a recurring phenomenon involving one human subject and one wild animal per incident. The subject is typically someone who has achieved notable personal or professional success,
Starting point is 00:17:52 though the exact selection criteria remain unknown. A disproportionate number of known subjects have had prior foundation involvement, including former D-class candidates, researcher prospects, senior personnel, and other classified individuals. The animal, designated SCP-2549-1, is an otherwise normal, carnivorous species native to the subject's area. Its origin is unknown. Once active, SCP-2549-1 will move toward the subject at a steady pace, navigating terrain, buildings, and security systems with unexplained familiarity. Security systems do not fail, but SCP-2549-1 will bypass them through ordinary means. Humans, other than the subject, will not perceive SCP-2549-1 as unusual.
Starting point is 00:18:42 They may instead interact with it as an acquaintance, co-worker, relative, or other familiar person. No bystander will attempt to interfere with its approach. Upon reaching the subject, S.C. 2549-1 will attack. The subject may remain conscious, but will not flee, resist, or call for help. Once the subject dies, the anomalous effect ends. Witnesses will then react normally to the animal and the scene, while previously affected individuals may only recognize the inconsistency after processing what occurred. SCP-2549-1 becomes non-anomalous and may either leave or behave like any ordinary wild animal.
