Starting point is 00:00:00 We interrupt this program. Previously, critics had brailed against the duo as crude, dumb, ugly, thoughtless, sexist, self-destructive, and foolish. They are not part of the legitimate business world. What they do is they celebrate underachievement. And all candor, I would tell you it's outrageous, Phil. And if I could find some way constitutionally to do away with it, I would. Everybody, thank you. For joining us, this is K. Rock Bright and Early on a wet nesting Mernan.
Starting point is 00:00:54 October 21st, 2006 year by our Lord. Ahoy, hoi, friends. Hello, Mike. I don't know what any of these words mean, but I'm going to read them. We grow more ear hair as we age because hair follicles on the ears become increasingly sensitive to androgens like testosterone. own after a lifetime of exposure. My ears are real tough guys.
Starting point is 00:01:22 Cody and I were complaining about our uncontrollable ear hair. Wow, your hair. We're in our 40s and nostril hair. You got to keep an eye on it. I've always had a normal amount, like, with that you just got kind of like, I'll catch myself in my little shaving mirror and be like, oh, we got to buzz that. You do like one of these moves? Yep.
Starting point is 00:01:39 Yeah, and you can't listen. Because you'll encounter some real old guys that got like so much nose hair. Although I can't use that one attachment. Whenever I get a new razor, I throw it away immediately. That way I'm never even tempted. That one attachment that I don't even know how to describe it. It just looks like a circle. That's what I use.
Starting point is 00:02:00 And you just jamming in there. You don't like that? No, it always... And it's got the blade spinning on the inside. It grabs. Yes, yeah. It hurts. Yes.
Starting point is 00:02:07 It's not... I don't know. Whoever invented that, like every... It was almost like someone different had to invent each one of those attachments. Yeah. And the guy that did that... one forgot until like the day before. I was like, no, no, it just spins a blade on the inside.
Starting point is 00:02:21 Wait, just spins a blade around in your nose. It's got a cover over it. Yeah, no, I use that, uh, that used to be like a once in a while thing, but now it's like a once a week thing. I got to get in my ears and my nose. Yeah, as soon as I noticed that like, like these start to touch, hmm. Yeah, yeah. Like the stascio and the nose, then you got to, I get in there.
Starting point is 00:02:41 I do a, the mustache trim. It's gnarly. It's gnarly. We're just, we're a couple old. guys and you're talking about nose hair. Happy back to the future day to those who celebrate October 21st. Yep. No. Nice. Here we are. It is a Wednesday. Very busy Wednesday once we get into the 8 o'clock hour. We'll talk to some friends from the Syracuse Crunch.
Starting point is 00:03:01 Adom of friends. As they're doing a mental wellness, I believe. Okay. Thing, I'll give you more information on that. I like that. Assembly person, Pamter and O'Reca will be on the phone. Payne? Pam. Pan? Pam. Pan, Pan.
Starting point is 00:03:17 I feel like you're saying. Pam. There's a silent N. I hear. Yeah. Palm. Palm. Palm.
Starting point is 00:03:24 Palm. They'll be on the phone. We got a new friend coming in. I'm looking forward to meeting this. This guy, Nash cards. What's that? I'm going to, hold on, I'll tell you right now. Where's my copy for that?
Starting point is 00:03:34 Nash. Anything that says cards at the end. Nash. Greeting cards to sports cards I'm interested. Where's Scott's email? Super Salad his birthday was yesterday. Is it? They opening up a fifth location?
Starting point is 00:03:46 if this is the place, I'm assuming? I think so. I can never find... Nash cards in Syracuse. It's just their Facebook. Yeah, that's the one. Scott sent me an email, but I don't know how to find emails for some reason.
Starting point is 00:03:55 Look at all these things. So we'll talk to them, and then I believe, you know, we'll have... Maybe Lee Malden. He's a man about town. Sometimes he'll text me and be like, I'm in a meeting. What, what are you looking at?
Starting point is 00:04:07 Do they do grading? Why, you're trying to get your cards graded? I would love to get, to have... I have a couple I would, like, look at... I mean, I'm sure... It might be our guy. It's lowered now. Where the hell?
Starting point is 00:04:17 The email goes? Scott sent me a whole damn email and not like, I don't want to complain about nose hair. I'm going to complain about technology. I don't need your AI summaries of emails. Of every single one. I don't need you to reorganize my email. Let me do email how I want to do it, phone.
Starting point is 00:04:35 Damn it. God, I'm so old. Another thing of these kids and their games on their phone. It's like I had an email and now I can't find it. Heck in my day, we have. It's literally gone. It's literally gone. It was in here.
Starting point is 00:04:49 Hold on, hold on, a second. I don't have any email, so. I can't. It came in Monday. I ain't going to hope at all. Sorry. Chris Kelsey. Started as a hobby.
Starting point is 00:05:01 Has turned into a business that connects people from all around the globe through sports cards. Brother Travis and Jason. I would believe so, yeah. So he'll be in here this morning. Neat. And then it's a Whiskey Wednesday show tonight, guys.
Starting point is 00:05:13 So busy. So busy. He's a very busy. Twitch.tv slash the show. Use the show. com for links. Have you seen, maybe these have been around a lot longer
Starting point is 00:05:23 and I just am not aware of it. But I see TikToks of these people run in these porch decorating businesses. Have you seen these? A little, little bit. So just enough so I know what you're talking about. It's a good idea.
Starting point is 00:05:36 It's a brilliant idea. It's a bigger spinoff of the Christmas light tanging people. Yeah, and it seems almost easier. Christmas light seems like a lot of work. Well, this is just like, I'll put some hay bales out You just got to get the inventory.
Starting point is 00:05:48 Yeah, like there's just one couple I follow. Maybe they're down in Texas. I don't know where they are. But they have like a pickup truck and like they're pulled behind wagon. It's got hay bales, a bunch of pumpkins, I think some corn stalks. The guy that sells these pumpkins where I got our studio pumpkins easily could do that because that's like what he has are the things that would, you know, set up in the front yards of, you know, of a Camillis home. And they're just like, I mean, you're going to need to go to a more.
Starting point is 00:06:15 affluent neighborhood, I think. This ain't happening in, like, in my neck of the woods. No. If you're driving around like Fayetteville or Skinny Atlas or Manlius and you're like... And I bet you would get a little, a handful of randos that would... You know what? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:31 How much? Yeah. I mean, it's like... What would you pay? Like, you got a house, someone pulls up. If I am interested in that and I don't mind spending the money on it, I would say that's probably a good. good $250 service. You're right. That's the number. And they charge up to a thousand. Like a thousand's
Starting point is 00:06:50 is like the maximum. Well, you got to think. Like some of these places that the, the big pumpkins that you see for like 10 bucks. Mm-hmm. Say that, all right, well, this house needs 20. Yeah. There's 200 right there. Dude, it's a great idea. And these people I follow on TikTok, like they'll be doing a porch and somebody else in the neighborhood, it'll be like, hey, what's this? And I'd be like, yeah, I'm, I just set up porches. And they're like, Yeah. Oh, give you $200. Why don't you go put some on my porch?
Starting point is 00:07:16 Yep. This is Heather Torres. She's been doing it since the pandemic. She'll get to $1,000 a house down in Texas for like these big, like mega mansion kind of looking things. I bet. I bet. I lay some like as they come, but then I also will turn some on their sides. We will cross over the 1,000 threshold today, actually.
Starting point is 00:07:36 And those are 1,000 different porches. Friends have been asking me, like, could you do this? You're a pumpkin display like yours from my home. No, I was not born with the love of pumpkins, but I have loved them ever since I was a mom. Yeah, so you go like to pumpkin patch? It's a weird. I don't know. Ever since I became a mother of love pumpkins.
Starting point is 00:07:55 Oh, k-dokey. I think we have the same algorithm, Fuzz. Yeah, these are the same people I watch. It's a brilliant idea. It's a brilliant idea. Yeah. It really is smart, especially again, like I'm just, I'm just keep picturing the guy that sells these rolling up to refill with that exact setup. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:13 Now just drive it around. And all of a sudden, boom. Instead of like ice cream man music, you're just playing like, Spooky Scarletons, come to my bike. And you know the pumpkin man's coming. I do like that. Hey, Pumpkin man. Oh, pumpkin man.
Starting point is 00:08:29 I got two hindoos for you. The pumpkin man. Pucketman's coming. Pumpkin, man's coming. I don't know how this happened, but an exotic bird. got into Chicago O'Hare Airport. I mean, I know how, I guess how it happens, but it always confuses me.
Starting point is 00:08:51 There's no exotic birds in Chicago that you know of. Or did someone smuggle it and then they got scurred? And they got loose? And that's how you smuggle animals apparently is you jam them into your pockets. And they freed it from a pocket. An exotic green bird, possibly a parrot, caused a stir at Chicago O'Hare International Airport, flying through an open door. Because I always wonder how that happens with all of them.
Starting point is 00:09:15 Like, you're in the mall and you're like, how do the bird get in? That makes sense. Well, does it though? It's just weird. It'd have to get through some opening somewhere. How did the birds get in there? Stupid bird.
Starting point is 00:09:28 Not like the doors are propped open. You got the whole goddamn outside. And you want to be in the mall? And you got stuck inside of a mall? All right. You want to be in here, in the mall. Stupid bird. Does anybody ever get pooped on by a bird in the mall?
Starting point is 00:09:40 Oh, man. you have. I got pooped out here. By a bird? Remember the ones that made the nest right outside the door? Oh yeah. It pooped all over me. And did we learn birds can't control their bowels? Did we ever check that? I never we checked them, but I like that. I like that theory that they're just releasing their bowels at all times. Can birds control
Starting point is 00:09:57 their bowels? Birds do not have the same kind of voluntary long-term bowel control that mammals has have as they lack a true All right, this is my band that's opening for slaughter to prevail at sharkies. They lack a true mammalian anal sphincter. But it's written in that metal. A million anal sphincter, but it's all a bunch of twigs. And urinary bladder.
Starting point is 00:10:21 Ah, so they're just releasing. Yep. Yeah, Pudgy's wife is right. They're getting through the loading docks. That's how they must be getting in the mall. Those big-ass doors are just wild, put on when people are loading stuff. Didn't think of that. Yeah, me either.
Starting point is 00:10:31 Good call. Good call. But a parrot. It has to be somebody. Videos taken near check in line Terminal 5 show the bird perching on passing Hangers' hands and luggage. Oh, no. That'd be Cody's dream of just a parrot landed on his shoulder.
Starting point is 00:10:47 Come here. Attempts to catch or calm the bird were met with aggressive pecking. Yeah, I bet. Quote, a lot of people wanted to get the bird, but every time they tried, they had to either grab the bird or be nice to the bird. Okay, let me say this again. They had a pretty bird it. Every time they tried to grab the bird or be nice to the bird,
Starting point is 00:11:09 the bird chose violence or fight. Because it doesn't know what's going on. I bet it's just terrified. It's probably not maybe if it is someone's pets not used to people. Or if it was smuggled, then it was just jammed inside of a bag out of the wild. Eventually, a janitor successfully captured the bird using his shirt. The bird was taken to a veterinarian for examination to be scanned for a microchip. And then my stepfather beat it to death with a broom.
Starting point is 00:11:38 It was fine. I don't want it coming back. I don't want it coming back, Josh. But I like that a janitor, everyone was trying to catch it, and some janitor just came walking around the corner. It was like, takes off a shirt. Give me the goddamn bird.
Starting point is 00:11:52 Give me the goddamn bird. I was on my lunch. All right, good. We saved the bird. No, you're beating it to that. Why? Why are you doing that? Although, for those you don't know the story,
Starting point is 00:12:04 when I was a child, we had a bat getting our house. We captured the bat. We brought the bat outside. Outside the back door. Good story. That is. I like that. And we felt like good.
Starting point is 00:12:13 We saved this bat. We freed the bat. I like that. It's a good heartwarming story. And it just kind of landed on the gutter outside the back door. Catching its breath. And we're like, all right, let's close the door. Cool.
Starting point is 00:12:22 Nice story. And my stepfather walks out with a broom and beats it to death. And I'm horrified to this day. Nope, that didn't need to be done. And I can see him not even thinking about it. He had to beat that bat to death. As it was being released, as you guys were releasing it, he was looking for the broom and strolling right out there. He was never a doubt in his mind.
Starting point is 00:12:50 He was going to do it inside. Some of the most psycho behavior I've ever witnessed. And it's one of those memories that I can play back in my brain. Because it was me at probably the high school age, Joey a little younger. And then my sister probably six. And we all witnessed a man beat a bat to death with a broom. And he beat her. Josh, could be rabid.
Starting point is 00:13:11 And he petered a death. Oh, God. Could be rabid, Josh. We don't know, bud. We don't know. Come on. Get it out of here. Let's go.
Starting point is 00:13:18 Mm-hmm. How do you make a name as the city's most compelling compact crossover? Well, the Lexus U.X started with a refined suspension tuned for the streets, then added a palette of distinctive, vibrant exterior colors, and kept it going with an available 12.3-inch touchscreen using our intuitive Lexus interface. The Lexus UX Engineer to fit in Designed to stand out
Starting point is 00:13:43 See Burdick Lexus and Cicero That's a good point show sister Good morning This is K. Rock. My cousin Jays He's a he's a I love him dearly His house is crazy
Starting point is 00:14:01 He's got I know 15, 20 kids over there I don't know how many It's Peewee's Playhouse I don't know how many are his And his wife's kids And just like neighborhood kids There's always a lot of kids
Starting point is 00:14:09 Yeah I bet Yeah And it's a great hang place. He's got the pool. He's got the pool shack. He's got a lot of games for everybody. A couple horses, I think. Soon, we're going to get there.
Starting point is 00:14:20 He has a putt putt course. He has a chipping golf course. That's. His son has like five power wheels that he's upgraded with like the DeWalt battery upgrade. If you're a kid, you want to live at my cousin Jason. Real quick, I almost got us one of those and I was going to have him do that so we can have our own show car. around in a... But it was, because it was a...
Starting point is 00:14:43 It was one of those like hummers that you see. Like, you could have sat in that. Nice. But it was like all hollowed out inside. Somebody put it out for trash. And I was like, oh! So Cousin J's house is regularly an amusement park. I mean, it's just full of tweens and young children.
Starting point is 00:14:58 Ferris wheel at some point. I wouldn't be surprised. And he went to... Did he say Tim's? Or where do you go? Haveners? Is that what I saw? What do you say?
Starting point is 00:15:06 Hold on. Let me see where he said. Went to Haifters. To get pumpkins. I came home. with two rabbits, no pumpkins. But it's the last time I go there. What type of petting zoo did Haferner's have?
Starting point is 00:15:17 I don't know because... One of this petting zoo that I'm not aware of. Show sister had a good point is that you've got two now. You're going to have a lot more. Are they both female, Jay? Yeah, did you ask? Make sure. Because otherwise you're about to have a lot of rabbits.
Starting point is 00:15:30 Yeah, you're going to have... You're going to have a lot of rabbits hanging around that house. A couple of fans. Yeah. Can you... Sal them? I don't know how that works. What do with baby rabbits?
Starting point is 00:15:41 Drown. Havener sold them. Drought him? Oh, no. I mean, clearly you can sell them, but I don't. There was a period in time where I think people were like having them in their house like cats. Maybe that's a thing still. Yeah, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:15:59 I know. Because I think they'll use litter boxes, right? But like that's just, there's just so many. Cousin Jay, of course they're not both females. And now we have to get one fixed. Great. Great. Yeah, because what do you do?
Starting point is 00:16:10 Every day in my cousin's life is just a list of chores. Right? Yeah, because if not, there's no, you don't usually see that. You always see like, oh, my friend's dog had a bunch of whatever dogs. Yeah. You know, you rarely see my rabbits got to banging. Who needs a little rabbit. It's how we got Freddy.
Starting point is 00:16:32 There was a boy. Yeah. Out in where Manoa or somebody had a litter of Boston's and they're like, and I don't know of Boston. So we went and got Freddy. Now he's going to be like, I got a little. litter of rabbits. As you can't just...
Starting point is 00:16:48 Tax size says brazed rabbits delicious, so... Oh, I would... Rabbit is very good. Is it gany and greasy? Oh, the times I've had it, it was just really good. But I... I'm not killing my own rabbits. I was just kidding.
Starting point is 00:17:01 Nah. I couldn't. I don't think... I mean, unless I was a farmer... Mm-hmm. And that's just like what I did, then fine. Then go ahead, do all the rabbit things.
Starting point is 00:17:09 But if you're just a person... Yeah. And your kid's rabbit... that start making babies. I mean, can you, dumb, very dumb question, but I'm sure I know the answer to. Can you, like, really, just release them? No, once they're kind of raised.
Starting point is 00:17:24 No, not the big ones. Like, they're little ones, and then you're like, all right, go out in the woods. I don't think they'd last a day. I think a coyote or something would kill it. Because, like, the ones out there kind of get nursed by moms, and then don't they just kind of like, go away? I would imagine domesticated rabbits don't last very long.
Starting point is 00:17:41 But if they're not really domesticated yet, you're just a baby, you got to keep the parents. That's what I'm saying, a dumb question. Yeah, I guess you're the parents. So then, like, the second the little babies don't need the parents can just be like, I think my poor, I think my poor cousin has turned and a long life of rabbit raising. They live a long time? I mean, he says, I've got to get it fixed, which means not, they're not fixed yet.
Starting point is 00:18:06 Yeah. Which means they've probably already procreated. Unless you've kept them separated this whole time, cousin Jay. They were sneaky doing it. It's like high school style. Did you told him to keep the door open the whole time that they were... Uh-uh. Uh-huh. Doors open. By themselves?
Starting point is 00:18:21 Lottie isn't as a former rabbit expert. He says, we used to show rabbits at the 4-H. Yeah, he said he had, what, 40-something rabbits at some point? Wow. Bealanch, when my mom was little, they had rabbits. They put them in their basement. They ended up with so many rabbits. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:37 That the Enchanted Forest Pettings dude took them that year. Oh, there you go. Wow. Because isn't it only like three months or something crazy? Yeah, I forget it. Something wild. Cousin J, you're not bringing any rabbits to my house. Your mother says my niece takes her, she's a rabbit?
Starting point is 00:19:00 Yep. To Boston to get fixed? Yep. Yeah. How much does it cost to get a rabbit fixed? I don't know, but that's like her, I was like her kid. 30 days gestation period for a rabbit. Okay, yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:11 30 days. Oh, my God. Jay, Jay, what have you done? Because of Jay. Jay, what are you done? You've made a terrible mistake, cousin Jay. Well, listen, you just, you'll have to find a spot for one batch of babies. Then you go get it fixed now and then you won't have to find another batch.
Starting point is 00:19:32 Like an outdoor pen or something. Yeah. He's got enough going on. And now he's a rabbit farmer. It's a rabbit season now. Wow. Oh, man. All right.
Starting point is 00:19:44 Well, congratulations. Text lines. Listen, I don't even want to read these. Everybody's getting rabbits for Christmas. I don't want to even read these texts, cousin Jay. Quote, we had a rabbit. Worst pet in the world. Little bastard bites when it wants.
Starting point is 00:19:57 Crap's all over the place. Try catching it to put it in its crate. Good luck. Can you? No one question. What? Can you train a rabbit? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:20:07 I wonder. We're going to find out. Like here, uh, bugs. Can't be rabid. any of the bugs, right? Come on, bugs. We're going to find out because old man holidays
Starting point is 00:20:17 rabbit circus is coming to a school near you here. Gather around, kids, to see my trained rabbits. I picture it's just like a dog pen and he just opens a cage
Starting point is 00:20:31 and just 30 rabbits all jump out. This might, it'll do anything. Go, rabbits, go. It's just cousin Jay doing it. Hey, hey, everybody.
Starting point is 00:20:41 Yeah. Yeah, Nick's got a good point. Call Uncle Bob over there with a broom. We'll take care of your habit. Real quick. Lottie said it. Taxi said you train racetrack and trabits. Oh, all right.
Starting point is 00:20:53 Yeah. Between his dog and if Jughead were around, they would both help. They would just bat him to death. Well, Jughead, that was his, I feel like his crowning achievement was snuffing out the whole batch of babies. I think the rabbits might be what break my cousin, Jay. This would be it? He's such a fantastic dad, and he just gives his kids the best. best life.
Starting point is 00:21:12 This would be too much for her. This might be the moment where he's like, enough! We turned this house into a madhouse. He just starts going around. He's taking down the potpud course.
Starting point is 00:21:24 He's like, he's dumping random bags of cement in the pool. Enough. Hot tub's getting stabbed in the side of it. Yep. The party is over. I'm exhausted. Enough in this house.
Starting point is 00:21:37 Crying the whole time. Why didn't you put me to this? We're just staring at him While everyone's staring at him Why did you make me get rabbits? While petting rabbits They're staring at him He's going full Jack Nicholson
Starting point is 00:21:51 And he's like hitting the doors with a hatchet There's the rabbits in this room Why there's rabbits Here's rabbits I love my cousin I hope this doesn't break him But there's a pretty good chance it will Coco Oh my God he can bring him to Festimus
Starting point is 00:22:05 Oh Everybody that comes to Festivus gets a rabbit You thought this cranby eggs was weird Because you know what it would be great. You know it would be great about that is that all these psychopaths that love us also love animals too much to say no. Yeah, they would be like...
Starting point is 00:22:19 All the people that come to Festivus, you all got too big of a heart to say no to a rabbit if we just said, guess what? Everyone's getting a rabbit. You'd go... And you think we're kidding and you get there and there's a goddamn cage next to every one of your chairs.
Starting point is 00:22:32 Guys, if you look under your chair, because it's going to be at Lockwood'silling again this year. If you look... Nate, bring out the rabbits. Oh, no. pushes out a big heart and all of you are rabbits.
Starting point is 00:22:46 You couldn't say no to a rabbit. You couldn't do it. Oh, man. I'm not going on with a rabbit. Anyways. No, I had to... I'll keep you updated on my cousin's rabbit journey here.
Starting point is 00:22:55 I had a guinea pig once and didn't even like that thing. I didn't notice when that died. I don't think I'd do good with a rabbit. No. No. Oh, yeah. Now we need cousin Jay holding
Starting point is 00:23:04 a bushel of rabbits on the... Wheel of tattoos. Move to next year. We have a better understanding of. He's got a hundred of them. He's got a hundred of them. And we can give them all names.
Starting point is 00:23:17 Daph tones, a hoi hoi. Happy whiskey Wednesday. This is K-Rod. Tonight's 7 o'clock, Twitch.tvies slash the show or head to the show. Dot FM. We'll sip-y-sip.
Starting point is 00:23:29 I've got, I can go get a new bottle today, but I've got so many bottles. Yeah, but now you're getting into, you got to get a Halloween one. What will be a Halloween one? A pumpkin-y one? No, not a pumpkin one.
Starting point is 00:23:39 Just like, I don't know. Something that's got a spooky label or I do have my chalice that I drink out of. One made from bats. I've just gathered quite a bit of booze. That's all right, though. And that's not me for not keeping up with it, Cody. I just haven't been drinking enough.
Starting point is 00:23:53 No, and it doesn't help that, like, there's only been two of the 50 that I've ever wanted to try every year. Oh, Zippy's got a good point, too. There's a couple. There's a couple different ones. That one I finished. There's a variety. Whatever Cooperstown one I finished the other week. I've seen. Get a different one of those.
Starting point is 00:24:16 Yeah, that'd be good. I'll work on it. I'll see if I can stop by a liquor store. I'm pretty occupied with this dispensary open, 1744 of West Genesee Street. Do they got ones with a bat? Fill up like a bat, like a baseball bat, you know what I mean? And then I beat it to death of the room. He accidentally did. Oh, no!
Starting point is 00:24:33 Ah, what I do! Because they have that one. Clearly that is some un cured trauma that I've not worked through. Well, you saw. thought it was about to be a nice release into the... It was a Disney movie, and then my stepfather ended it. And then it was really a Disney movie. Oh, boy.
Starting point is 00:24:47 Some poor little bats. That was some of the bats of a bat mom. Yeah, that bat would have to be the mother of two baby bats. They were watching from the other side of the tree. Oh, no. And then one of the baby bats becomes evil and one becomes good because of that moment. Yep, and has been vowing to bite your stepfather. Very valuable story.
Starting point is 00:25:07 For all these years. Cody. Happy back to the future. Oh, is it? Is it the thing on the front of the car there that tells you where they're going? Yes. October 21st, 2015 would be when they went back. Gotcha. But now... It kept getting skewed forever for me because people would do this when it didn't count.
Starting point is 00:25:33 Of course not. Great, stop. My calculations are correct. It is now precisely October 21st. October 21st. October 21st. It's October 21st. Back to the Future Day.
Starting point is 00:25:43 Doc. I'm from the future. The future has finally arrived. Are you telling me that this sucker is nuclear? We're taking a trip. Where? Back to the future. It's hot car.
Starting point is 00:25:53 Everybody knows that one of my favorite films of all time, Back to the Future. Not a bad movie. Not a bad couple of movies. I count Back to the Future trilogy as one movie because I'm not, I don't know to be like, well, number two is better than, it's all one movie to me. It's just a four-hour, five-hour movie.
Starting point is 00:26:09 Okay. I like that. I never thought about it like that. Then I'll sit down and I'll watch that on TV. That's like a 12-hour commitment. I was going to say because you're going to watch it on TV instead of just in actual five hours like you can if you watch Home 3 just back to back to back.
Starting point is 00:26:23 But I don't get commercials or breaks. No, no you don't. That way it's not literally 12 hours. I don't get commercials or breaks. But people are, look at this time and I'm going to do. People are wishing they could go back to cheaper candy prices as Halloween candy. The bags are shrinking,
Starting point is 00:26:43 and the prices are getting more expensive. And I'm thinking you're to see a lot of port's lives turned off this year. Well, it's just, or you're not going to get, because I used to do like, I was not stingy. No, I know. You went hard. I was not a stingy fellow when it came to the candy. You love to gift the community. It was just, because that house you'd go to and you'd get just one little thing.
Starting point is 00:27:06 Again, you were grateful, but it was still, a lot different than when you had somebody that would grab a handful. Or a full-sized bar. Boom. So, but now, man. Halloween candy has shrunk and costs have jumped 71% since 2021. That's nuts. But like out.
Starting point is 00:27:25 Because we keep paying for it. Yeah. We have to. We have to. There's nothing you can do. Turn that porch light off. Yeah, but this is one. You got to vote with your wallet on that.
Starting point is 00:27:33 This is a harder one, though, because it's easier for me to do that. McDonald's and Doritos. This is something I want to do for kids. Yeah, you like doing this. You like giving kids candy. It's like, yeah, I'm going to show those kids. They're not going to get any goddamn candy this year. I'll show them.
Starting point is 00:27:51 That's what you get for being a good person. But yeah, you got to, you can't have a $30 bag of candy for 20 pieces. They don't give me an explanation of what happened. Coco has jumped. Not you. Cocoa, Kokawa, has jumped 144% the last five. years. You gotta grow it here and it wouldn't be a problem. Why is
Starting point is 00:28:12 that? I don't know. Tariffs and Oh, is it? No, I have no idea. It just have a bad chocolate. Did we get a bad batch somewhere? I don't know if it's grown. I'm sure decisions being made in the White House are not helping, but Yeah. What, there is like... Is it
Starting point is 00:28:28 a vast crop? Did a cocoa patch done burned down? This one tastes like a cotton do a cocoa patch. Katie, he did see. The SCU game is at noon. He's very excited about that. Because then he can get home that now. I'm waiting. I'm hoping that the complex does trick or treats because with my luck now they'll be like, yeah, no.
Starting point is 00:28:44 No, we're not doing it anymore. We try it last year. Don't feel like it. Sorry. Hershey's dark chocolate assortment is now 17% smaller than it was five years ago. So they just some douchebag went around and scooped out a handful and was like, see?
Starting point is 00:29:00 Not a damn difference. Well, I like that people point this out because, you know, these big businesses are trying to sneak Everything's biased. I don't think there's been a time where I've been in a Walmart and price shopper where I've been in those aisles and I haven't heard somebody complain about the prices. That's what we have.
Starting point is 00:29:21 We're the masses. We get to say we don't just have to bend over and take whatever prices are thrown at us so we can stand up for ourselves. Yep. No, it's going to have to be, I think it's going to be one of those where the rest of the year we're going to have to show them that this part of the year, they can't do this. Then, okay, this is the only time of year you're going to make any money off us, Hershey's. Coco prices are rising again due to renowned, renewed supply fears driven by the return of El Nino.
Starting point is 00:29:52 I'm El Nino. I want Holyfield. Give me only field. Lower crop estimates in West Africa and escalating global shipping and fertilizer costs. So a little bit of column A, a little bit of column B. So yeah, everything. Angie says the 1988 bag of mixed candy is now $25 at Walmart. Jeez.
Starting point is 00:30:11 Just nuts. No, just seeing the, someone that hasn't had to buy any candy in several years, knowing what it was and expecting to see that now, it's mind-blowing to see that bag of 100 pieces has doubled. It's crazy. And it's like, they're trying to-thing. They're trying to increase prices and use that shrinkflation. Yep.
Starting point is 00:30:38 Like, for example, the Reese's Ministers Party Pack went from 40 ounces to 35.6 ounces. Exactly. They're going around. And they hope you don't notice. That's what I mean. Some rich CEO walked around and scooped a handful out of every bag and then picked it up and showed the rest of his partners and went, See, you don't need to have that many in each bag. Rollo Party Pack shrank from 40 ounces to 35.6.
Starting point is 00:31:03 And you're a rollo man now. I'm a rollo boy. I love a rollo. Unreal. Hershey's miniature assortment reduced from 40 ounces of 35.9. Eminem party size
Starting point is 00:31:13 has shrunk by about 10% since 2019. This is all being reported by the New York Post. It's a mess. You can tell they were trying this when a couple years ago they tried to kind of change
Starting point is 00:31:26 the wording of like that little one is just fun size. No, that's your bite size. That's what? We know what these are. You had this complaint a couple years ago. It's the Halloween ones.
Starting point is 00:31:38 Yeah. You can't just, no, no, no, that's not, uh, what's this bite size? Cody is right. He brought this up a year or two ago, is that don't, don't make me split hairs on what's fun size versus bite size. Bite size is a square. It's a tiny little square. It's a bite.
Starting point is 00:31:52 It's in the bowl. Fun size is a rectangle. Yeah. Bite size is in the bowl on your secretary's desk at the dentist office or, you're a doctor or whatever. It's not, not what you give for how. Halloween. Those are fun ties. I guess all we can do is like text line is saying wait to the day after Halloween and get it on sale.
Starting point is 00:32:09 But at that point, where do I give it to? Well, what happens now is, I don't know if this was other stores, but towards the end of my run, they would just send it back. For what? Send it back. If the little bit you would have. Does it like go to a dollar general or like an oldie or something? Who knows what they would do with it?
Starting point is 00:32:30 Uh-huh. It would just be either that or, you know. You know, it wouldn't be anything good left. Showgirl Fuzz. She says, I'm wrapping pennies. We discontinued the pennies. So that's probably harder to do, too. Everyone's getting a couple nickels.
Starting point is 00:32:42 Yeah. I'm writing everyone a poem this year. Just a little love note. Here's what I'm going to do. Everyone gets a... I'm going to sit on the porch with my acoustic guitar and sing Oasis for everybody to stop by. One oasis per kid.
Starting point is 00:32:58 And I will write down, when you come up, I will quickly write down one compliment about your costume and put it in your bag. That's nice. So you get up there and then I'll be waiting for you. You don't give them fantasy football tips. I'll help you with your fantasy football team. You can bring me one question. What? Who do you want to start? Do you have a wide receiver conundrum? What? Yeah. Who's your running backs? If you're giving me this advice, you must win your fantasy league every year. No. I believe I am one in five in the work league. I'm trying. I'm trying. I used to.
Starting point is 00:33:33 Trevor O'Nick. Trevor O'Nick's got a good point. He's going to hand out pepperoni slices. Just get one of those great value bag of pepper. Hey, there you go, bud. Hey, that's not bad. One slice per kid. Hey, here you go, bud.
Starting point is 00:33:44 There you go. Huh? Hey, there you go, bud. I like that. There you go, bud. Huh? Happy Whiskey Wednesday. This is K Rock.
Starting point is 00:33:52 Tonight, I'll be back. Can't get enough of my stupid mouth. Just looking at it. Just looking at it and lips jabbering jaw. 7 o'clock tonight. Twitch. dot TV slash the show or the show.com. Good joe jibba.
Starting point is 00:34:05 We'll sip, sip, sip on something. I'll find a nice bottle of whiskey. We'll enjoy a little midweek hang. Halloween edition. Maybe, uh, is there a Milwaukee or Tampa Bay whiskey? Probably, but the thing is, it's hard to get those out here. Like, whenever we do those, like, I did that with the Super Bowl, too. That's true.
Starting point is 00:34:24 Or I'm like, can I find a Seattle whiskey? They have it, but it's in Seattle, you know. It's out yonder. So we'll be back tonight's 7 o'clock. I love hanging out with you guys. I love our little community in the show, fam. But as you know,
Starting point is 00:34:35 Coco and I, we're professional haters. We, uh, we've been known to drink some hater aid. And I'm all down for calling certain songs terrible songs when they're terrible songs. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:50 But I think this list from Ultimate Classic Rock is way off. Like, they released. Of bad songs? An article yesterday. Oh, okay. Okay. Of what they're calling the six.
Starting point is 00:35:02 worst rock song. Well, we'll use rock because, you know, rock like 80s rock. Yeah. Six worst rock songs of all time. Okay. I got a couple. I can think of immediately. Give me one of your examples. Well, from overplayed Toto, the Africa song. Oh, yep.
Starting point is 00:35:23 Immediately pops into my head. Good point. But that's because it's been every song that's ever been played is that one. So let's go through this list. Because I think out of the six, I definitely like five of them. I might like all six of these songs. That Paul Simon song, I hate too. What one?
Starting point is 00:35:42 The Julio down in the... Oh, I love that song. Stupid weird song. I can play that on a guitar. I'm going to sing it for you. That's impressive. I don't think that's not impressive. I just, that song is creepy and weird.
Starting point is 00:35:53 I learned to play it on guitar because my wife liked that song, girlfriend at the time, and it was in that movie. I think it was in the Royal Tenen Boms. It was in the world, Tanden Bombs. Yeah, okay, yep. And we watched that movie, and she liked that song, and I learned it on guitar, because I'm g-y-y-all-old. Number six. I agree.
Starting point is 00:36:14 Really? Yeah. Yeah. You hate this song? This goes way back to, like, growing up, like, our high school friends would play this because they liked it, and I hated it, and they would play it as a joke. They'd be like, hey, Cody. Hey, hey, Cody, hey, Cody. Oh, Starships, we built this city.
Starting point is 00:36:32 That's terrible. Ben Riley, Hard, disagree, posting in chat. Nah, this is a classic. You'll be classics and still be terrible. Ben, this was on our hockey warm-up tape. I mean, it's classic 80's warm-up song. Oh, for the year. Knee deep in the hoopla.
Starting point is 00:36:57 Needy-be in the hoopla. Stella, this is ultimate classic rock. Six worst rock songs of all time. And I don't agree with any of them, I don't think. knee deep in the hoopla. How'd you remember? Why were a bunch of your teenage friends in the 90s listening to Starship? They listen to the all sorts of, from the oldest music you can think of to the newest.
Starting point is 00:37:28 Billy Joel. Old Souls. This is the one I'm on the fence about. Okay. Because I like this band, but I don't know how I feel about this song. It takes a second to kick him. Oh, I like the band. This song's stupid, but I like it.
Starting point is 00:37:46 But I can see where people don't. REM's shiny, happy people. I just, I don't like its attitude. Like, I don't like that. That he's so, it was 1991. But no, I would have loved to have seen these guys. Posty hates this song. Griss loves the song.
Starting point is 00:38:07 Shiny happy people. I don't think I've heard it. enough to make it a worst song ever. It's the one I'm on the sense about. Because I like this one. That's number five. Pretty mixed reactions. Ink hates this song.
Starting point is 00:38:34 Lyft says band is good. Song, not so much. Yeah. What's text line say there is no middle road with shiny half of people. You either hate it or you love it. It's true. I'm kind of middle road on it.
Starting point is 00:38:44 I don't care. I don't mean, I'm not going to ever put it on. If the option is, if it comes up, my rotation, I probably skip it. I'm skipping it. Yeah, just because I'm like, oh, that's okay. But if I'm like at an event and it comes on, sure. This is not if I can do that. Sure. I just have to listen to it. All right. Here's number, I believe, four. Now, I know you're going to stop and say, Josh, but you said you liked all the songs.
Starting point is 00:39:11 And I have, I have an admission to make after this, okay? Okay. Number four. This song sucks. We didn't. Start the fire by Billy Joel. You know I don't like it. Hey, Mo's Billy Joel.
Starting point is 00:39:32 I don't know if I... Now, I don't know if this one's worse than... Oh, I forgot the... There's another one that I think is worse. I have my admission to make here. Okay. Because I know we pick on Billy Joel. Billy Joel's a meme on this show.
Starting point is 00:39:48 My mother gets horny over Billy Joel for some reason. She admitted that to you. I used to put on the Joel. And it's not going well in my family. either. Okay. I've started liking Billy Joel, Cody. Oh, no. I know. That sucks for you. Maybe it's in my DNA because Tam Tam loves Billy Joel. Gets you a little riled up. I don't like Billy Joel. But I've been listening to his songs more. No, there's just nothing. His, his face. I don't know what happened. His face and how hard he goes doesn't match the fact that it's a piano, bud.
Starting point is 00:40:23 Yeah. Cousin Jay, I didn't do chorus in high school, but. The alternative was I had to take general music. The final exam was to learn every single song. Every single word of this song. School. No, I just, no. I don't like this.
Starting point is 00:40:39 I don't like that. The jungle song that he does. Yeah, like 80s Joel. Yeah. Well, we only do 80s Joel. So. Like. All right, I don't have to tell you.
Starting point is 00:40:52 Like, bro. I come out of the banquet last night, the golf banquet. Yeah. And then we're at RF's, so there's, So there's like some background music on and some Billy Joel was playing in the background. And I get in the car. This is why I think you're all on the side of my family more than me. But I get in the car and I go,
Starting point is 00:41:12 Some folks try to get away, take a holiday from the neighborhood. And my wife turns and she goes, no. Yep. I'm right there with her. Absolutely not. No. Absolutely not. No.
Starting point is 00:41:27 Don't you dare. Some folks. No. No. The Catalina wine mixer. You're all right. My wife is right. Cody is right.
Starting point is 00:41:36 This is terrible. Billy Joel sucks. But something is happening to me in my elder years. I can't hear this piano riff and go. Vietta waves for you. I know this sucks. And he did this and expected people to like lose the mind. And they did and they sell out the dome when he comes here.
Starting point is 00:42:01 He sucks. I'm old. I think it's an old man thing. I'm not proud of it. No, people love them. I'm in the minority. I don't know what happened to me. The few of us that do not like him.
Starting point is 00:42:12 Should I go to the doctor? Is this a stroke? No, no, this is a lot of, it's, again, I've always known that there's only a small handful of us, and I think we're all right here that don't like him. Everyone loves Billy Joel. Yeah. I know. And we just have to listen to it growing up.
Starting point is 00:42:30 My friends all loved him. I was the only one. Yeah, but you're right. I'm here to admit that he's right. This is bad. It sucks, but I listen to it. Why, I know. Why, Billy?
Starting point is 00:42:48 I don't know. I'm in a New York state of mine. All right, let's get back to this list. I just had to be honest with you guys. If anything, I've been honest. Yeah. I've been honest. Something happened to me these last couple years.
Starting point is 00:43:00 We'll continue to do our best to make fun of you. Anytime you bring it up, that way you don't want to. I don't listen to it anymore. Yeah, I'm not skipping Billy Joel. I'm sorry. Yeah. Moving out. Vienna.
Starting point is 00:43:10 Yeah, I don't. Only the good die young. No, no, I don't like that song either. I just don't like. You may be right. I may be crazy. There's another one I'm thinking of. I don't like either.
Starting point is 00:43:23 Do I have to go to a meeting, Deb? Your mom says admitting it's the first step. Do I got to go to a place? You're all right. No, you're here. I'm moving out. That's another one. Oh, I'm going to say that to Ever.
Starting point is 00:43:33 Oh, that one specific. She's got a way. Oh, God, that one. Ooh. Oh, no, that's good. You like that? No, I'm just kidding. That's terrible.
Starting point is 00:43:45 Damn it. I thought I had him. I thought I had him on the hook. All right, let's get back to this list. All the rest of Philly Joe. You played them all. I had to admit it. I had to be honest with my friends.
Starting point is 00:43:57 Here, who lists, bottle of red. Cousin J's coming out. Look at Cousin J. There he is. We got similar DNA. We can't help it. We can't help it. All right.
Starting point is 00:44:07 This one, because I know, I know the fans of this show, hard disagree on number three. This is Ultimate Classic Rock's list of the worst rock songs of all time. You keep Phil Collins out of your damn mouth. People do not like Phil Collins. You keep Phil Collins out of your mouth. I didn't realize how much of a disdain people had for him. Really? Yeah, I guess he's just a big douchebag.
Starting point is 00:44:38 Oh, he is? I'm like real life. Yeah, that Salpark episode made fun of him pretty good. I like this. I mean, Anna says he can F off. I like, he says it's garbage. I like it. I like Genesis.
Starting point is 00:44:52 I'm mad that he broke him up. Peter Gabriel is better, I agree. You know what's the funniest clip ever? Unintentionally funny, though. It's him live walking around the stage before playing, I can feel it coming in the air tonight. Yeah, with his headset mic on. And it's all windy, and he just sits in front of the drums with his math teacher shirt on. Yep.
Starting point is 00:45:16 Because look at the back in the day. You could be ugly. This was your sex symbol and 80s Billy Joel. There's a reason the song is called Video Killed the Radio Star. All the stars before 81 were looked like this. You look at him, you're like, oh, wait, what? Look up Chris Christopherson and see what? that sex symbol look like. Yeah, no. Or Freddie, even Freddie Mercury.
Starting point is 00:45:41 You're like, oh, I can't wait to make out with Freddie Mercury and then he shows up. Uh-uh. I will all make out with Fred Mercury. I don't want to make out with Fred Mercury. All right. Here it is. This is the one that I think is going to be, because the number one on this list, absolutely wrong. That was three. That was three. Yeah, that was number three. This is number two. Okay. So this one. And number one is wrong. What you're saying? Number two. What we're going to say is incorrect, you think? I think this is going to be another shiny, happy people. People either love it or hate it.
Starting point is 00:46:13 Split? Yeah. No, she's stupid. Yeah. Oh, no. It's stupid, but is it bad? Yeah. Okay. Yeah, it's better. Yeah. Kokomo, Beach Boys. I don't like the Beach Boys.
Starting point is 00:46:30 I don't like. I'm not a big Beach Boys guy. They're dumb. Cousin Jay, I think you and I grew up on this music, so we like it more than most. Again, I probably skip Kokomo if it showed up on my podcast. playlist, but... No, I don't. There's nothing from the beach boys I'm going to be about. Unless whatever that episode of Full House,
Starting point is 00:46:50 you can just give me that specific cut when they were on stage with them. No, Stella, you're not wrong. Stell, and Chad says, I don't think I understand music categories. The word rock is so wide. It's like they got this list from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, basically.
Starting point is 00:47:08 Rock is the wide lane. It has a guitar in it. My name's Coco. Your name is go-go. All right, number one, according to Ultimate Classic Rock, the worst rock song of all time. Okay. Absolutely not.
Starting point is 00:47:37 Absolutely not. Absolutely not. I'm fine with this. Of all time, ultimate classic rock. I'm fine with this just because. I, again, I probably have. like emotional ties to this. Why?
Starting point is 00:47:59 Because I had my first girlfriend ever when this song was popular and I would think like I would fantasize about singing it to her. Oh. In high school. This video was on all the time when I had my first girlfriend. Wake. Just to see you breathe it. Like I would have wrote this in a note like a love letter.
Starting point is 00:48:21 Yep. And he wants to stay awake so you can see your breathing. Yeah. It's probably his girlfriend's nap time. She had snack and out it's nap time. No, my girlfriend in high schools, I stayed awake to see her breathing because she loved the smell of chloroform on a rag.
Starting point is 00:48:38 He was like. I don't have any control over that. Again, I think guys, guys, this might be a surprise to you. I'm here to admit that as a radio DJ of 20 years, I think I got bad taste in music. I don't think I'm good at the music. music part of this. No, I, I can, I'm right there with you. Billy Joel. I'm listening to,
Starting point is 00:49:28 I'm right there with you with Phil Collins. Between the random, you know, screaming songs I would listen to that I bet people wouldn't like that we listen to to Oasis. I know people hate Oasis. I'm very aware. I think we're just bad at the music part of this job. Do you think that I wasn't expecting Wonderwall to be on that? Oh, yeah. I really was expecting number three or four to be Wonderwall. I was like, oh, not Wonderwall. Yeah. This whole list is. Pick one. Yeah, pick one. That number five, that could be number one.
Starting point is 00:50:01 Yeah. I've got bad taste of music, guys. And I've been on your radios for almost 20 years. But I think a lot of us, dude, that's the whole fun of music, is that we all like. Because we all like, you know, like Prince. Love Prince. I think we can all agree. We all like Prince and Queen is great.
Starting point is 00:50:18 We like that stuff. But then we also, you know what? We all dabble, yeah. We all got our guilty pleasures, I guess. You know what I mean? You know, right said Fred ain't too bad, I guess. It ain't so bad, all right? I don't know what this, like, this article says you shouldn't be charging your phone to 100% every night.
Starting point is 00:50:35 Then why is it an option? What am I supposed to do about that? Right. What do you want me to do about that? Oh, yeah, that's real bad for it. You shouldn't be making sure it's charged all the time. Well, that's not. Why did you do?
Starting point is 00:50:47 Why you made the phone? I didn't make the phone. Yeah. Well, spoiler alert, when it's at zero, it's worse. Mm-hmm. Yeah. So regularly charging your phone to 100% can cause the battery to age faster over time. That's because keeping the battery fully charged puts it under higher voltage, which can deteriorate your battery.
Starting point is 00:51:11 Like what do you want me to do? You know what I mean? I'm sorry that I have a... Set the alarm for the middle of the night to be like, okay, I'll unplug it. Or just like don't make it like that then. I don't know. I feel like newer phones. and maybe this is like...
Starting point is 00:51:27 I ain't no damn scientist. I ain't no phonologist. Right? Isn't there a thing in newer phones that like it charges itself to like 80% and then the rest is whatever, like a trickle charge? Mine does something like that
Starting point is 00:51:38 where I can see it says something about... Like it slows itself down or something. Yeah, yeah, there's some battery thing on mine that I've seen where I'm like, okay, do whatever you want, bro. Mm-hmm. Have that it. Doesn't I... Sarah says my mom's phone only charges 79%.
Starting point is 00:51:54 Yeah, at certain a point, the phone does. deteriorate and it won't charge all the way. Really? Yeah, like older phones. If you've really like worn it out. Oh. My mother-in-law's phone will charge to 100% but it drains really fast. I've, yeah, that I've seen. Like her phone's old, she's got to get a new one. I've had that with a couple of mine where it's like, oh, it, like right now at this point in the show, it would be at like 50%. They only been awake for a couple hours, but there was just probably so much porn on it.
Starting point is 00:52:23 I just, I just, how many more articles can come out of somebody saying, you're doing it wrong? I'm not doing anything. I didn't do. I didn't invent batteries. I'm sorry that. I didn't do this. I'm sorry that for my entire life, every single thing that was 100% met perfect. Yeah, that's what, yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:48 My bad. That's what I wanted. Oh, you really shouldn't. It's called adaptive charging. Some people have it. Oh, shut up. Nice, Nicholas. I probably got it too.
Starting point is 00:52:58 I just don't know about it. No, I think that might be what my phone. My phone does that too. Make the phone be smarter than me then. That's going to be a problem. If that's such an issue that you have to come up with 80 different adaptive charging and this type of charging and battery saver in this, your batteries is wrong. Yeah, bro.
Starting point is 00:53:15 Fix your battery then, Einstein. Coming up, we got a lot of guests joining us in the 8 o'clock. hour, we're going to get Pam Hunter and Orika Erickson on the line for us. Pan Hunter. Pam, P-A-M. P-A-M. N. You're not hearing it, right? Good morning.
Starting point is 00:53:31 This is K-Rock, and you know that Cody and I love talking mental health and bringing mental health awareness to our community. And on the line, we have two new friends. Well, we have Eureka Erickson, and we've known for a while from the Syracuse Crunch. But we also have Assembly member Pam Hunter, who's going to talk about mental health. Good morning to both of you. Thank you for calling in. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:53:53 So, good morning. Let's start with you, Orica. You came on with The Crunch a few seasons ago. You came in the studio here with Howard, and you talked about how, you know, these are rough and tumble hockey guys. And maybe they're not thinking about their mental health or handling stress. How has that been these last few seasons working with the team? It's been great. It really has been wonderful.
Starting point is 00:54:16 And the program has grown. and I work a lot with the staff over there, and also we've been really spearheading the mental wellness program with Pamela Hunter's help, and we've been out in the community a lot, which we've been really focusing on to spread the awareness to school kids from pre-k to high school and even at the university. So, yeah, Pam Hunter, let's talk about that.
Starting point is 00:54:39 You saw kind of an opportunity to grow this inside of our community and work with the crunch here in Central New York? Yes, it's been amazing. Howard and I had a conversation several years ago during COVID, did some work relative to that and our partnership with Upstate and said we need to be able to do more. We have an opportunity to utilize players who are role models, who our young people look up to, who it's relatable, to be able to bring a message to them in an information-friendly way to bring that to them.
Starting point is 00:55:13 and more so than we're getting ready to start this crunch season here, to reiterate that they are available to come and talk to young people into the community, have resources partnering, obviously with O'Reika and Upstate, in order to get information about how to take care of yourself, how to get yourself right when you might be in a challenging situation. And the crunch, the players do an amazing job going out to the community and talking about that. Yeah, letting these kids know it's okay to make. feel okay sometimes and how you work through those feelings and talk about that.
Starting point is 00:55:48 O'Reika, who are some of the players that we're getting out in the community? I was out yesterday in the Baldwin's Well School District with Daniel Wally Walker. Love it, well. Cool. Yeah, which is wonderful. He's joined us and he's really like spearheading this with me and he's great with a kid. So since the season is just starting, it's been him and I, but it's going to keep growing through the year and truly we just, you know, want to teach the kids how to, first of all, that they
Starting point is 00:56:19 are the CEO of their own body. Oh, yeah. He's learning how to handle themselves and how to, a lot through breathwork, learning how to calm yourself down and you control your central nervous system. And it's feeling good, finding a balance in life. So Pam Hunter, Assembly member Pam Hunter on the line, of course, with Ulrika Erickson from the Syracuse Crunch. How do people request these services?
Starting point is 00:56:43 Is it just for schools? Is it for community programs? What's the next step if we want to have a player come in? We need to make sure that school districts now, mental health counselors, guidance counselors, and schools can reach directly out to the crunch. And then call me, but call the crunch. Okay, right. Reach out to them and ask them and say,
Starting point is 00:57:02 our kids really want to talk about mental health. We feel like there's, you know, challenges, and it's an opportunity to get somebody different in front of them. I remember visiting a school a couple years ago, and I asked one of the social workers at the school, how are our kids doing? And she said they're sad. And that equals we need to be on top of their mental health because sad children in school, you know, on average is not a positive situation for them.
Starting point is 00:57:30 I can lead to other types of challenges. So it's the perfect time, cruncher back playing. It's relevant. They are here. They're in town. And it's important to be able to find something that connects with young people. people, relatable to them, delivered to them in a manner that is easy for them. And in order for them to, you know, as all risk is that you're trying to get your mind right.
Starting point is 00:57:52 And I think it's important to use people in that way. And we're definitely about to enter those sad months. We're going to be indoors a lot. These kids are going to be indoors a lot. Probably looking at devices and those don't help us. So use these services that are available right here in our community. Reach out to the crunch directly. O'Reika and the crew over there.
Starting point is 00:58:08 Pamela Hunter, so nice to talk to you. Thank you for helping kind of amplify this. We appreciate it so much. And, O'Rika, thank you for all you do here in our community. We, of course, always appreciate what you're doing with the Syracuse Crunch. Thank you so much, and thank you for speaking up about this too so much. I know you're a big part of you guys as well. We love it.
Starting point is 00:58:27 Thank you guys so much for calling in. We appreciate it. Have a good day, okay? Thank you. O'Rica and Pam. It was Pan. Pam. I knew it was Pan.
Starting point is 00:58:37 I don't think you're... Pam. And I don't think you're hearing it right. With that I'm... 100.9.1065. Good morning. This is the show. You are listening to K Rock. And in studio, a new friend of ours.
Starting point is 00:58:49 We've got Chris from Nash Cards. Good morning, Chris. Thanks for coming in, man. Good morning, guys. I'm glad to be here. Let's talk. Let's talk cards. Because...
Starting point is 00:58:58 Yeah. I grew up in the 80s and 90s, and you'd all get your cards, your baseball, your basketball cards. We even had, like, the Marvel cards. Remember, like, the comic book cards back in the day? Yep. And maybe you had those...
Starting point is 00:59:10 sitting in a box or maybe you made the whole binder back in the 90s and you haven't done anything with it. That's where Chris comes in. So tell me about Nash cards. You said you started just kind of grading cards in your house and you had to spin it into a business, right? Tell me that story. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:24 So it was a 2019 range. It was grading cards for PSA for people and, you know, started getting pretty popular. So we opened our first door outside of Nashville, Tennessee. Wow. And so now that we're up here in Syracuse, we're coming to the area. We hope it opened November 6, or we will open grand opening November 6th. Nice. And it will be our fifth location.
Starting point is 00:59:46 So where are all five locations? We have two in the Nashville area. We're one in Memphis, one outside Philadelphia, and then this will be our fifth. That's awesome. Do you live down in Nashville? I do live in Nashville. But you're born and raised Central New York. This is from your neck of the woods, right?
Starting point is 01:00:00 Yeah, I was born here. I went to high school here. And I also did grow up outside of Philly too. That's the reason for that location. Wow. So what is the world of sports cards? like now. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:00:11 Because everything I see is online, Cody. Everybody is like. Yeah, same because I got out of it. I'm of that generation where I collected and was like, like, you know, held on to them, you know, forever. And then it was that dip where, you know, nothing was worth anything, you know, 20 years ago or whatever. And now it seems like everything is roaring back.
Starting point is 01:00:28 Yeah, what's going to be going on now? Since COVID 2020, the market was strong before then, but it's been on a rise. You're going to see it more and more. And maybe now that you've been speaking with me, you're going to recognize it on TV, commercials, things like that. Cards are taken off. I mean, we have cards that sell for over a million dollars. Not in my store, but, you know, on a monthly basis, the market is the strongest it's ever been. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:00:53 And so they're coming back and they're coming back full force. I watch these guys like buy these unopened boxes on eBay and stuff. Like what do they call it? Cracking packs or pricking wax. Ripping, yeah, what is it? That's a whole world too of just like entertainment. People will watch live streams of that. Absolutely. So we do that.
Starting point is 01:01:10 We're live on whatnot almost every day of the week, ripping boxes for customers digitally online, you know. So if you're not close to one of our stores, you can always check that out and we can, you know, find you some good cards. Is there value in new cards or is this all old cards? Like what are the new cards that are valuable? Just, you know, what they do now as difference from the 80s and 90s
Starting point is 01:01:30 is they serial number cards. They have them autographed by the athletes or the entertainers. Marvel is making a huge comeback right now. Yeah. So there's all sorts of things. If you watch basketball last night, Cooper Flag is one of the latest rages. We had a customer on our stream
Starting point is 01:01:46 pull a gold autograph of his and it sold for $38,000. Wow. There's definitely a huge opportunity out there to find some really rare and good stuff that sells for crazy money. I've seen some of those cool cards where it's like a piece of the jerseys in the card.
Starting point is 01:02:00 Absolutely. Wrestling cards like pieces of the mat or whatever. Yeah, no, this is exciting for this. Cliques, gloves, anything. They'll put anything in a card. Come up here. Give us a scoop. What do you think the next wave is?
Starting point is 01:02:10 How do we get ahead of this? What do you think the next wave of cards is? Oh, put me on the spot here. You know, I just think, like I said, Marvel's really coming up. Disney's coming up real big. Okay. They are pretty expensive. But pretty much anything with a little bit of rarity.
Starting point is 01:02:25 Okay. If it ever makes a comeback or, you know, starts trending again, they put out a movie or something like that, you could be sitting on a gold mine. We're talking to Chris from Nash cards. So let's talk about the new location. Where are we going to be opening up? We're going to be in Township 5 and Camillius right next to the Costco and the movie theater. Yeah, you know, I went to high school in the area, but I'm not very familiar with all the suburbs.
Starting point is 01:02:47 I haven't been here in a long time. And we went up and saw that lot and we were really excited at the high traffic area. Lots of families out there. We got a lot of friends over there. Branching out bottle shop is a good friend of ours. They're right over there. They're right next door. We're in the facility right next door.
Starting point is 01:03:01 That's awesome. You're going to love them. So say someone's listening right now and you're opening up. What was the date? We're opening up. November 6. November 6th, you're opening up. I go down in my basement. I got a bin of cards from my childhood. Do I bring them into you and you kind of can tell me a value on these? Is there like a service that you offer for that?
Starting point is 01:03:18 What is that like? Yeah, absolutely. You can always bring them in. We'll have our employees at the best of their ability to kind of walk you through your options. You know, a lot of the 80s and 90s cards aren't very valuable and that's what most of us have. Yeah. Because everybody had them, right? Exactly. And so there's no rarity to them, but we can kind of, you know, steer you.
Starting point is 01:03:36 and if you have some more rare stuff or that, we can process them for PSA, get them graded. They could add a ton of value to the cards by doing that. Or we can buy them from you, you know, or we can just kind of let you know what you have. And stuff is for sale at the shop if I want to get into the hobby? Yeah, we have boxes, singles, supplies, you name it. We have it.
Starting point is 01:03:56 We're very well known for just blowing off your, you know, socks for how much product and sealed stuff that we have. That's great. And Pokemon, too. I can't forget the. I'd ask you, like, do you dabble in Pokemon or Magic the Gathering and stuff? We do a little magic, not as heavy in that, but we are very, our store is pretty much mapped out, half sports, half Pokemon. Wow.
Starting point is 01:04:17 So if you're into the Pokemon world, which is booming right now. Yes, it is. Come on down. I think you'll be impressed by the amount of product that we have. Look at this, the Swiga County kid blown up. I love to see it. This is wicked cool. Open it up November 6th, over in Township 5, right next door to our friends Joel and Carissa, branching out bottle shop.
Starting point is 01:04:34 Go see what they got for sale. Maybe you got some cards you want to show off. Just go be like me who doesn't know anything about the hobby, but it drool over the cool stuff that's in the shop. Yep. Dude, great to meet you. Thanks for coming back to town and bringing your skills here. Absolutely.
Starting point is 01:04:47 I love getting little frosty in the morning. Yeah. Is there a website, Nashcards? It's Nashcards.com. We're NASCARs on Instagram and Facebook. Come check us out. Chris, good to meet you, man. Big success over there in Township 5.
Starting point is 01:04:59 We'll come back. It's K. Rock. Holy Mullins here. He blows us off week after week. He's out on cruise ships. He's out. He's in the jetting around the world. He's in Dubai and a gold helicopter somewhere.
Starting point is 01:05:16 No, Lee Baldwin's back. He's a busy man. He's taking care of your money. What's up, Lee? Hey, guys. Thanks for having me out. Of course, dollar investment club. Dot com.
Starting point is 01:05:25 You sign up, you pay a bill to yourself. Don't let the billionaires make all the money. You make some too. Get in the game. Get in the game. Because somehow the market keeps climbing. We keep seeing it go up and up and up. Right.
Starting point is 01:05:36 And I'm happy with that, but today you want to talk exos, exoskeletons? And you know what I'm talking about. I do because I'm a nerd. Right. So. Do you know what an exoskeleton is? No, I don't. Can you describe it, Josh?
Starting point is 01:05:48 Because I'm thinking $6 million man, right? Kind of, but you know, like when you see your football guys and they got an arm injury and they got that metal thing on the outside. Yes. Now imagine that all over your body. And then there's a big backpack with a battery and that I am in a factory and I can walk around and pick up thousand pound packages. Like alien? Yeah, kind of.
Starting point is 01:06:10 Sigourney Weaver style. So you're just moving around boxes. Why are you thinking about? Is Lee? Are they getting into the business? I was out of town last week. I was in Orlando at a conference. And, you know, every session,
Starting point is 01:06:20 you had to get back to AI, right? And so, and one of the breakouts that it just became very visual and clear for me. The AI is for us and our use is kind of an exoskeleton. Sure. You have to have your own personality, your own, your talents, but it just, it gets an exampleifies. It gets a power source.
Starting point is 01:06:41 And so if you think of it that way in a very positive way, I think then, you know, so you don't be afraid of it. And then I think we have to embrace it. You use it as a tool. It's not going anywhere. Is it going to be this miracle that, you know, we're being told it is? Maybe not. Maybe not.
Starting point is 01:06:56 These are people who want to make a lot of money and they've got to sell their product to us, so they're selling their product to us. But I use it for many different things as, you know, deep research or any coding I have to do. It is a valuable tool. Right. And let's say you're starting a new business. Ah, green on top of the country. Green on top of the country. Yes. I heard, congratulations.
Starting point is 01:07:15 Thank you, Lee. I'm a capitalist. I love this. So are we. We like doing good. And we want to run a good shop for people. Right. Right. And that's the thing. And if you are passion and you love what you're doing, you're never going to have to work
Starting point is 01:07:29 at that. So that's good. So that's really good. But you can use AI, like you said, for these new businesses. I'm not good with Excel spreadsheets. You know who is? Claude. Paul's pretty good at him. I'm not really great with all the coding I need to know for various website elements. My buddy Claude is pretty good at all that stuff.
Starting point is 01:07:45 I was told to keep going back to your previous and build on it. But I think you're supposed to create bots. So there's my... Yeah, the chat bot, different AI bots. It's a better... So anyway... You can get real nerdy about it, Lee, like a lot of people now, and this is where I get...
Starting point is 01:08:02 I think it's too dangerous. A lot of people are just buying small computers for their homes. A lot of them use, like, the Mac Mini is a one. And they build kind of their own localized AI agent. Mm-hmm. And they'll just let it respond to your emails all day. Take all your tax messages. I ain't letting it go that crazy.
Starting point is 01:08:21 No, no, no. But there are people that are doing it. No, there's, yeah. I'm not that comfortable yet where I get my wife mad at me because my AI chatbot said something rude earlier in the day. What are the odds that would happen? It would. Dollar and.
Starting point is 01:08:35 Investmentclub.com. Sign up getting the game, Lee. And speaking of AI, though, SpaceX had earnings last night. And SpaceX right now is an AI company. Yes, they are. And now there's talks. They're going to roll up Tesla. So I'm sure you saw that.
Starting point is 01:08:50 And then all the kids will get their one share of SpaceX. I guess, yeah, all the kids are getting shares. I don't know. Great. I don't know. I'll take a little. Lee Baldwin, stop by the shop, Lee. I don't know you don't dabble, but just do you show you.
Starting point is 01:09:03 I'll be there to give you guys. some champagne. Thank you, Lee. Dollar Investment Club.com. We'll come back. It's Krox. Do you see Josh Todd playing with all the animals over at the wild? I did see that video after. They're putting out good videos. Whoever's producing their videos, it's like you're watching the animal planet and you're watching the concert. For being crazy overpriced, that is look, looks like a fun time. Well, I mean, just stay in those. Oh, in the rooms. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But the amount of animal. I don't know how much it is to actually do the wild. I've never gone, but they've got a ton of.
Starting point is 01:09:37 A ton of stuff going on over there. Concerts are pretty fun, man. But Josh Todd driving around just like looking at the giraffes and ostriches and stuff. All Josh Todd. Mm-hmm. Just all buck charied out. Well, jumping on what Lee Baldwin was talking about with AI. Another sad story of a man falling in love with an AI person.
Starting point is 01:09:57 Ah. Yeah. As you got to check on your loved ones, they could be lonely. That's, yeah, that's. As a Brazilian bricklayer, Eddie Mar, Marti. Only in title only apparently. Bricklayer. Traveled more than 1,200 miles to meet someone named Jessica Olivier.
Starting point is 01:10:17 Oh, no. Sold all of his belongings. Like, there's got to be an outreach for these people. Because clearly they're lonely. Maybe they don't have anybody in their lives. But, yeah, there's got to be, like a community program or something. I don't know what it would look like. Because you can't just, no, no, come.
Starting point is 01:10:37 me or sell everything. That should be some type of flag of why. Like, I don't know what community outreach for people being tricked by AI would look like like. Because they're not going to sign up for it. No, you need to. They think this is a real thing where there's probably anybody outside of
Starting point is 01:10:53 him, like, no, bud, because I'm sure she was a 10. She's gorgeous. And anybody like me who knows what AI looks like could tell that she's AI, but he's just a dude out there, like laying bricks all day. Isn't that familiar? And in offense to dudes, but Some of you that are twos, come on, man.
Starting point is 01:11:11 That might be the community outreach. Like, if you look like me and there's this supermodel saying, like, come and meet me, you got to go, bro, bro, bro, bro, bro, bro. Do you think that's real? And you're not like a millionaire? Because, again, if you've got a bunch of money, it doesn't matter. Right, yeah, you can be ugly. But be an ugly as you want.
Starting point is 01:11:28 He flew to this town where he's, he met her back in 2020. So this is like a six-year relationship. Earlier this month, he sells his belongings to cover a trip from northeastern Brazil to a country. I don't even know. Minas Gerias. Yeah. Of course. When he got there, he was unable to find her.
Starting point is 01:11:52 This is what I don't understand. And I wish more people would reach out to us like this. He couldn't find his AI generated girlfriend. So he went to the radio station and asked them. To what? I don't know. They just said, no, man, this isn't a real woman. Yeah, so can you help us me find this lady?
Starting point is 01:12:11 Like, maybe he wanted them to go on the air and say, we're looking for Jessica Oliviera? No, that's not how that works. Nah, man. That's weird. I mean, but, again, pardon me, I don't, like, I feel bad. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 01:12:26 But then, like, no, I don't. No, I don't. Yeah. You're an idiot. I'm on both sides, but because I just feel like he's a lonely dude with nobody in his life. And this is the first person that, like, connected with him.
Starting point is 01:12:39 That part, that makes me feel a little bad for him. But, I don't know, man, don't be stupid. Don't sell your belongings. I don't care any girl. If she was real. Or, or, you know, wait, before you upper your entire life and be like, nah, this is done here. I'm going this way.
Starting point is 01:12:57 Check first. And I'm always- Meter first before you sell your stuff. Don't be that, like, I don't know. I don't know. I feel bad making fun of them, but like, bro, you're an idiot. After telling a social worker about the situation, he received help and returned home. The person behind this AI-created persona has since shared a video confirming it's not real
Starting point is 01:13:22 and claimed they never had direct contact with the guy. No, probably not, because it was probably AI-generated responses that he was getting from... Like, he might, yeah, maybe this person invented the AI model, And then he was just, yeah. Probably the same people that are thinking they're talking to Trucker Alley. Yeah. This is one of those where it's like, come on, dude. And also, I don't want people to not be able to get help if they need it with situations, but I don't know, they flew him back.
Starting point is 01:13:51 Yeah. You're lucky. You're lucky somebody helped you. Well, you're lucky that he didn't come here. Can you imagine something, JFK trying to? Not happening. Can you fly me back and help me and pay for, what? No, we're going to throw you in one of our...
Starting point is 01:14:03 You're homeless now. Yeah, throw you in one of our... Good luck. Camps. I came here to state the obvious. This is the creator. I made artificial intelligence. I've never spoken to anyone with this profile.
Starting point is 01:14:14 The intention was to gain engagement for sale. I never spoke directly to anyone, much less took anyone to this country. It was a surprise to me to see if it was happening. Yeah, I think... But... Come on. You are responsible, bro. You didn't know that creating a...
Starting point is 01:14:32 fake gorgeous woman was going to elicit responses from dudes? Like, that's how I feel about. What'd you do it for? Cody referenced trucker alley. If you don't know who that is, Ali is, she's not on Facebook anymore, but my Facebook for like a month and a half was this AI generated woman who said all the right things to lonely dudes. She's like, I'm young in 22 and I drive truck and I'm so lonely and I wish somebody'd sleep
Starting point is 01:14:58 with me. Nobody will have sex with me because I'm so hot and they're so scared. It was just hundreds of the loneliest dudes in the comments being like, I take care of you, blah, blah, blah. And you're all, you're all stupid. You know all those guys probably slid into her DMs and some dude over in India was taking their money. Yep.
Starting point is 01:15:18 And nobody was doing anything about it. And I don't know, like, I don't know how you fix that. That's one of those where it's the wild, wild west of the internet. So what, wow, wild west? What are you going to do? What do you do with that? other than make it illegal, but that, I mean, can you? Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 01:15:37 I don't know. Clearly, Allie has gone away from my Facebook, so maybe Meta did something about that. Or just, well, it was kidding. They don't usually make the right decision, but. I think it was because of, well, you always say it learns and kind of like adapts itself. Yeah. Some of those were wild, where it was like the truck was backwards and towards the end that you were showing. It starts to spin out, yeah, like the wheels on the wrong side of the truck.
Starting point is 01:16:02 Yeah. She had like a Porsche wheel that one time or whatever the heck it was. And even those, even when they're the most obviously wrong, still the comments, I love you, baby. I'd take care of you, baby. I'd do things to your giant. There's just a lot of lonely people in the world. It's not just dudes. Women get taken for it too all the time.
Starting point is 01:16:19 Yep. Anyways. But now, sorry, bud. Sorry, bud. You're lucky it worked out this way and you got a flight back home. Yeah, just confirm next time that the person's real before you throw away your entire. life. You're like, hey, I need some kind of proof that you're a real human being.
Starting point is 01:16:37 Or try to find any proof of anywhere at any point in time this happening of a absolute 10 finding a nobody goofy guy being like uproot your entire life and come to me. I want you so bad. And she's real. Yeah, like I've watched those documentaries on like Nat Geo where it's the other side of this. And it's always these lonely guys calling. Yeah. And it's always like,
Starting point is 01:17:03 their sisters on the phone. At some point, we've got to prove that you're a real human being. Yeah. Anyways, I don't know the problem to take care of it. I don't know. Good luck. Other side of this,
Starting point is 01:17:13 what is it, Thursday? I want to do a little Q's game? I was going to say, because Cowboys are Monday night football. Okay, so we can do Q's today and then NFL tomorrow. Yeah,
