Starting point is 00:00:00 The following program is a podcastone.com presentation. She's a lifestyle blogger extraordinaire. Fantastic. And he's a serial entrepreneur. A very smart cookie. And now Lauren Everts and Michael Bostic are bringing you along for the ride. Get ready for some major realness. Welcome to the skinny confidential, him and her.
Starting point is 00:00:21 Hi guys, we are in Beverly Hills at the Podcast One studio, and we are so excited because we're finally recording from a profesh setting. We got a whole new setup. Look at that sound quality. And we have a whole new intro, which is powerful. It's electric. Yeah. This is an upgrade.
Starting point is 00:00:41 This is an upgrade. And we have the Barenaked Cucumber here. We're doing the OGs and Jordan. Hi. And me and Michael. And we're just really excited to bring you guys along the whole journey. Like I said, we started in our house and it was pretty dreadful circumstances. There was some marble floors, some echoes, but we are taking it
Starting point is 00:01:06 up a notch. Dogs and house cleaners too. Some fights. A lot of fights. A lot of fights. But listen, we're here now and we made it. Yeah, we made it. We'll see if we don't get in a fight after this though. I'll let you guys know. So it's funny because
Starting point is 00:01:21 from day one I've been saying launch fast, launch a raw, real version of what we're trying to do. And in the beginning, there was a lot of issues with that. Lorna and me got in a lot of arguments. But I think it's fair to say that my point has been proven now because we are in a studio finally, officially. We have a producer. His name's Kevin. Kevin is in the back.
Starting point is 00:01:43 Hey, Kevin. He's in one of those like glass partitions. So I feel super official right now. Kevin's Kevin. Kevin is in the back. Hey, Kevin. He's in one of those glass partitions, so I feel super official right now. Kevin's hot and single, by the way, and he has a golden retriever. Taylor has been replaced. He's a little bit bummed out, but he'll get by.
Starting point is 00:01:56 He'll still come. They took me out back and fired me. It's funny because we were talking, and I said, Taylor, you know, I think the last episode we did, the 4th of July one, I said, hey, this could be the last time I send you last episode we did, the 4th of July one, I said, hey, this could be the last time I send you the sound file for you to edit and upload.
Starting point is 00:02:10 There was a tear. You know what? You're the best damn Sandman I ever had in my life. Did you say Sandman? Sound. Sound, yeah. But it was an emotional moment for both of us. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:21 So we have a new producer. His name's Kevin. Kevin's awesome. Like I said, he's single. If you guys are interested, he's hot and he has a great job. So anyways, we are, like I said, at Podcast One. And Jordan and Taylor will come up with us. Like, I would say you guys will come up at least once a month, right? Yeah, I'm going to try to pop in as much as I can.
Starting point is 00:02:40 Now I know how nice this studio is. I'm just moving to L.A. And there's champagne. So, you know, I'm just moving to LA. And there's champagne. So, you know, I'm always in for champagne. It could be worse. Yeah. So they'll come up with us. I would say, like I said, like once a month.
Starting point is 00:02:53 And then we're also going to have other guests on the show. Yeah, which we're super pumped. I mean, finally, we can actually bring people to the space. And we're not in my shitty shipping warehouse or living room. So I can actually say, hey, why don't you come to the studio and feel superficial about it and it won't look like i'm bringing them to a weird warehouse so we're definitely excited about that also there people are people two people can call in our technical restrictions when we were doing it yeah so any readers or listeners we have the ability now to have call-ins which we're very excited about we
Starting point is 00:03:22 can get you guys even more involved in the show. Shout out to Just Dance on Snapchat because she gets to be the first caller. Just Dance 12. Oh, Just Dance 12. She gets to be the first caller. She's been an amazing supporter. But we'll take you guys' calls and that's going to be super exciting. So lots of new things on the horizon for our podcast. It's definitely one of our favorite mediums because we can connect with you guys and talk
Starting point is 00:03:43 with you guys and answer your questions. And it just feels very intimate. And, you know, Michael's point was proven. Launch fast. But. Wait, say that again. Say that again. Launch fast.
Starting point is 00:03:53 Don't do it, Lauren. Don't. Michael's point was. For once, Michael was right. I was wrong for once in my entire life. I was wrong. But I will say. I'm still undefeated.
Starting point is 00:04:06 If I could tell everyone the real story, though, I wanted to get with Podcast One from the beginning, which is why I wanted a high level of perfection. So that's where my perfect obsession came in. I don't like to launch things that aren't perfect, and Michael's very different than me, so we kind of had to meet in the middle. Lauren always wanted to have, like, a wait news news flash everyone Michael is actually having
Starting point is 00:04:29 some champagne today I'm getting loose what did what did you what did you two think about this like because you've been involved in the process from the beginning so you've seen it all well at times it was kind of scary just because I mean the reason that I would say the tensions were high was because it was something that none of us had ever done. And realistically, Michael and Lauren came up with the idea. And Jordan and I were on board right away. And it's something that I think, obviously, from the first episode to now, there's a big progression. But there was a lot of hurdles, I would say, that we had to go through but there was some i don't want to say it's i guess when you have two people working together like michael and lauren that are both uh very dominant or i would i guess dominant it's there it's a clash but that's what's good about this
Starting point is 00:05:15 show is it is that it the him and her is it's two different perspectives on sometimes it's they're they're not they're not aligned sometimes they're opposite but that makes sense i mean sometimes no i think that i think michael and i really push each other we push each other to be the best version of ourselves and when we see that there's an area where we're not being the best version of ourselves we like if i see michael can do better i'm gonna push him to the point where he's going to almost want to punch me in the face because I know his potential. And I think it's the same with me. So we're so dominant and intense. I would say intense is the best word. Intense is a good word. Intense is, we're the most intense. Well, it's just, it's, it's intense. Like me and Lauren have a banter, right? Like, and I think sometimes when people look, you don't say,
Starting point is 00:06:00 yeah, you don't say sometimes when people look from an outside, they kind of look at it like, whoa, is that functional or not? Like it's very functional for us. But I mean, at times I can tell my sister there, she gets a little nervous. Jordan doesn't have a confrontational side where me and Lauren are very confrontational. Yeah, you guys love your banter. Sometimes I'm like, wait, stop fighting. And you're like, no, we're not fighting. We're totally, we're like, this is how this is how it is we literally will go at each other and then i'll be like babe how's this dress and totally the change of energy like goes away and we stop fighting we we move on really quick well jordan can attest this i think her and i need to get credit for us being here because jordan and i were basically intermediaries between the arguments kind of going well okay lauren it's okay michael it's okay let's continue with the podcast i think it would have been scrapped had it was like it was like an intense
Starting point is 00:06:49 tennis match with two judges and like i would like try to win a point and jordan would say point michael and then like lauren went and taylor would say you only got one point i can't there were so many times it was it that's exactly let me tell you something men when you get a point in a relationship you actually lose a point so yeah i can't this this statement was said so many times are you taking his side or michael would say you're taking her side oh no lauren lauren would say i know he's your brother but seriously and i would be like oh but in any case we're here now what did you guys think we'd ever get a studio did you believe that we'd get a studio i know taylor did taylor's got a massive faith in me you know i really think that because you guys wanted to make it the best like every single time i mean i look back at like the first six episodes every single episode improved like
Starting point is 00:07:34 huge amounts so i feel like you know the bantering and all that it actually in the end made it better no i mean i think we found our groove i think it took a while but now we're in it can i just say something out of this every single thing i've ever done in life anything that's ever been something that i i'm proud of has taken struggle there's struggle in every single thing you do if if if you want the best job there's struggle i can't deal with people that think that that things happen because of luck or you just kind of fall into it that has never happened for me at least everything has been a struggle but the struggle is worth the reward so let's cheers because we're celebrating i feel like you need like a shot of vodka or something something strong this guy doesn't know what he's in for. We're just getting going.
Starting point is 00:08:25 We're drinking out of paper cups, so we're going to edit in a champagne. We're literally drinking champagne out of a paper coffee cup. It's funny. I was talking to Kevin. I said, and this is a story. I said, did you listen to the first episodes? And his face cringed. He's like, yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:38 And I was like, yeah, sound quality wasn't so good. But I have a story behind that. Lauren and I were in New York, and we were invited to go on Gary Vaynerchuk's podcast, Ask Gary V Show. And I knew that when we were going on there, that there was a big demographic of listeners on that. I said, okay, I want to have two or three shows primed, ready and launched by the time we've gone on that show. So that when we get there, we will, we can say, hey, we actually have a show and we just started and pick up some listeners. So, you know, launching fast was very important in that case because immediately we got a bump in the numbers
Starting point is 00:09:08 just by going on somebody else's show. So it just proves that sometimes you have to adapt to the situation and we didn't have the time to really prepare like a professional show. But here we are now and episode 19. I remember that weekend when we filmed like multiple, for many, many hours, multiple episodes because we were just trying to get them done and we had to redo remember we had to redo that one we had to redo a couple taylor fell asleep at one point and forgot to record i'll admit when i'm wrong i can tell i
Starting point is 00:09:36 take full accountability when i'm wrong and i was wrong in the sense where i came on and i thought it was like a news show because i didn't quite understand the whole podcast thing yet. I thought it was like a YouTube. I was like, hi, I'm Lauren Everts with the Skinny Confidential. And you were like, that is no. No, you came on like Susie Summers from like the evening news, like with your stack of whoever the hell that is, Barbara Walters. So that was confusing because I was in it like just being like raw and real and just like myself. And then I looked over and she had like a shuffle of papers stacking. No, I thought it was perfect posture. The reason the podcast was so difficult in the beginning also is there was like an
Starting point is 00:10:09 hour or two of prep before. We had to get the table set up. We had to make sure, you know, Jordan was sitting on the right side. Lauren was on the left. So there was a big, big just build up of just table design. Jordan was off in Chile. We were in Europe.ordan wasn't on camera
Starting point is 00:10:26 if early listeners remember we actually filmed the episodes as well no one needs to go back to those archives you want to go to the archives they're on youtube so you can see the beginning episodes and it's funny because in the beginning we didn't have jordan in the frame and then we decided we'd put her in the frame but we didn't want her fully we didn't know what the fuck to do she was like two-faced it was awkward It was awkward, I have to say. But anyways, we're here. We found the rhythm. I'm glad we're past that.
Starting point is 00:10:48 We're ready to go. The point of the story to you guys is, is if you have an idea or you have just something that you want to launch, just launch it. Michael's smiling at me. Just launch it, do it, put it out there, and then grow with the audience. Let me give you an example.
Starting point is 00:11:03 The meal plan. I just launched a Skinny Confidential meal plan. I just launched a skinny confidential meal plan. It's a seven day meal plan and it tells exactly what I eat. I literally wrote it down for you guys and I put it out there two days ago. And a lot of you told me that instead of buying the entire bombshell body guide, which is my workouts and my meal plan that you just wanted to buy the meal plan. So I listened to what you're saying. And now I'm talking with a web developer to just get an option to just buy the meal plan. So I listened to what you're saying and now I'm talking with a web developer
Starting point is 00:11:26 to just get an option to just buy the meal plan. So you have to like grow with your audience and talk to your audience and ask them and engage with them and like feel it out to grow your product to what it is. So hopefully in the next two weeks, we'll have an option where you guys can just buy the meal plan. But the point is, is launch, listen to your audience,
Starting point is 00:11:44 listen to what people say, be open to having constructive criticism. I think a lot of people in this day and age, like they don't want to hear anything constructive. Like you, you just have to hear it and, and then put your own spin on it. Well, and talking about, you know, feedback, we actually got a lot of reviews on the podcast in the beginning. Do you guys remember that? Yeah. And, um, that was definitely a hurdle for, for Lauren to, uh, like in me, I don't like to put anything out there that's not perfect. So it was hard for me to launch something that wasn't, I expected it. Right. So I knew, okay, we're putting out something here. That's not a perfect product. And we're new to the space.
Starting point is 00:12:18 We've never done it. People like, you know, there's always going to be a segment of people that are either not happy or not impressed, or don't think it lives up to the standards of like podcasts or whatever. So, but what we did was we took all that information and we said, okay, this person's saying this, they don't like when we say this, they don't like the sound quality, they don't like the format, they don't like the rhythm, whatever it was. And we adjusted from there. We literally took positive and negative feedback and adjusted the show. And we're, we're, we tried to taper it down, like still being ourselves, but using customer, not customer, sorry, I come from the business world,
Starting point is 00:12:49 but consumer feedback, listener feedback. And we tried to make the show what it is now. And we're constantly trying to improve it. So we do take feedback and we do work from that. I think that any business, whether you're an entertainer, whether you're running a business, whether in marketing, sales, whatever,
Starting point is 00:13:04 you need to listen to the consumer and the customer and adjust from there. We saw all those reviews and heard you guys that said you didn't want us to say like as much. We are still working on that. Like what do you mean? Like, like, like, like. That's a hard one to overcome. I mean, I say like I can't. We had a big whiteboard in front of us that would say do not say like.
Starting point is 00:13:21 I say like sometimes. If I say like, that's how I talk in person. If you're having a cocktail with me, I'm going to say like. So I try to talk to people like the way I talk. I'm not sugarcoating it. Yes, that's something that I will try to improve on because I can take constructive criticism. But I'm going to say like here and there. So with that.
Starting point is 00:13:38 I just want to say one more thing. Okay. Yeah, here I go. Just so you guys know, we have not reached the potential of the podcast yet. We're not saying we've made it. Look at us. We're so great. We're just saying that we're like on this journey and we're trying to build this into something bigger than us, bigger, like, like a brand. And eventually our goal is to take this podcast on the road and take it live and do meetups and connect with you guys and have you guys ask us questions live. So just so you know, we're not like sitting here being like, we made
Starting point is 00:14:08 it. No, not at all. But I think, you know, you got to celebrate feats, right? And we're happy. We're happy. We have some champagne, like it's been a lot of work. We produce a lot of free content. We work on it every single week, like with Taylor in the background, working on the thing with Jordan, helping provide the content with Lauren and I taking time out of our schedules, which is, you know, we're both running businesses. It's, it's a lot of work. So yeah, we're, we're celebrating a little bit. So if you like the show and has brought you any kind of value, please let your friends know about it. Podcasting is new and, um, it's really, it's been a lot of fun bringing awareness to everybody about the platform. Like, you know, I don't, I've talked to my parents and people,
Starting point is 00:14:44 they don't even know that it exists. So bringing them involved and bringing awareness to everybody about the platform. I've talked to my parents and people, and they don't even know that it exists. So bringing them involved and bringing awareness has been awesome. Now, if you have anybody that has Androids, you can also download the Podcast One app and listen on there. And yeah, with that, we're ready to start getting into it. Wedding planning? Oh, yeah, we can start talking about wedding planning. Okay, but before we talk about that,
Starting point is 00:15:04 I need to have a little more champagne. Let take a break don't worry okay i got you covered little break we'll be back this is the skinny confidential him and her with lauren everts and michael bostick we are back from our break we're here at podcast one in beverly hills like we said we have the whole team here and we want to talk about something that michael is dying to talk about or more actually more appropriately just dying from our wedding jordan loves to do the addresses well let's just first say that this wedding has been pushed back now i don't know how many times we finally have have a date. Let me just be honest here. I've done five wedding shoots. None of them have made the cut at Lauren's eyes.
Starting point is 00:15:49 You don't even know what you've done. You have no idea what we're doing. You drove me out to a desert in the middle of nowhere. Why did I do that? Why did I do that? To get pictures. And then we never even used them. We use the pictures all the time, actually.
Starting point is 00:16:03 They're great. They made the blog cut, but what they't make the, like what they were intended for was the wedding. Actually, they made the save the date cut. They didn't quite make the invitation cut. Here's the thing, guys. I'm a perfectionist, if you didn't know. So when I do something, it takes me a long time to wrap my head around things.
Starting point is 00:16:21 So I am the type of person, as Jordan knows, where I do things very last minute. So at the last minute, everything has to be perfect. So I will kind of just think about it and work with it and let it sit and let it kind of... I'm kind of like... I feel like I'm like a red wine. So in the year 2050, we'll be married. No, I need to open.
Starting point is 00:16:43 I need to diffuse. It's the creative process. Yeah, my wine needs to be poured in a diffuser. I need to let it breathe. I need to let it open. A diffuser? A decanter. Oh, shit.
Starting point is 00:16:54 Fuck. Decanter. Well, I am now a pro at Excel spreadsheets because of this freaking wedding. I have never opened an Excel spreadsheet unless you've sent it to me. So thank you, Jordan. Anybody needs an Excel spreadsheet expert, I am your girl. This is getting so absurd. I have people, like close friends and family, being like,
Starting point is 00:17:16 yo, man, are we invited to the wedding? And I said, yes, I promise. We just, Lauren will not send out these save the dates. We have to, like, they have to go through 50 channels of approval. What going on with you i'm a decanter i'm opening up i'm figuring out what i want to do i'm getting all my ducks in a row i just got the save the date calm down it's going out next week so the save the date's going out um and then after that the invitation's going out and everything about our wedding is drama. So here's the thing. We're having it in Cabo.
Starting point is 00:17:47 Everyone would expect us to go with the hacienda margarita theme. We're going with drama, vampy, gothic, complete opposite. Oh, yeah. We don't know anything about this. I love contrast. Well done, Michael. Well done. Taylor's rubbing the mic weird.
Starting point is 00:18:02 Oh, yeah. Sorry. Don't do that to the mic ever again he's still nearly single so we apologize Taylor's rubbing the mic weird but anyway so we're going with a lot of drama a lot of contrast a lot of black Michael doesn't
Starting point is 00:18:16 know this but who cares and I swear to god I'm just going to go down there and drink tequila and someone's just going to have to march me up like a puppet perfect you finally get it just drink tequila and I's just gonna have to march me up like a puppet perfect you finally get it after you finally get it just drink tequila and i'll handle everything else so anyway so the save the dates are going out next week then we got the invitations and like i said i procrastinate it takes me a minute to wrap my head around stuff and i'm a decanter not a diffuser taylor bought his wedding suit and did an instagram about it like literally two years ago yeah he's
Starting point is 00:18:42 been holding he said hey i got the bosses uh they boss's suit for the boss's wedding. This is two years ago. It was two years ago. No, it wasn't. I bought a nice Armani suit. Still have not worn it one day. He did a whole Instagram about it. You guys can go back and look at it. It says I got a suit for the boss's wedding and the thing's probably accumulated so much dust by now. I don't think I've seen you in it once.
Starting point is 00:19:00 No, I've never worn it. I bought it and it's sitting there. Taylor. Cop web suit. Let's just say I'm going to look good. Taylor, what's your Instagram handle so everyone can look at it? It's tailsudie. Go and check out about it here. I like to keep it consistent. It's at the baronetkcucumberbottosuit two years ago.
Starting point is 00:19:15 Yeah. I'm going to find it right now. So, yeah. So, we've been planning our wedding for three years. It's taken three years to pull the trigger and I think it'll be live i don't know is it ever going to happen i don't know i just i can't i can't do anything unless it's perfect so it takes me a while you know what i am kind of pumped though because you're not a bridezilla which probably like i probably don't even know how much easier that's making my life i almost feel like
Starting point is 00:19:39 if you really admit it though that a bridezilla would be easier for you because you would have more structure no i almost think you would almost like a bridezilla as opposed to me who's so i'm like a guy it's like you're marrying a guy could you imagine though me trying to correspond i mean jordan's looking at me like you're right like can you imagine me corresponding with a bridezilla it would never happen like i just i would have a meltdown i feel like i'm the one who should be the most scared because i know lauren really loves to function under pressure and it's gonna get down to the wire and i'm gonna get taken off the skinny confidential and she's going to be like you are only on the wedding you don't say oh no hey forget about podcast sound
Starting point is 00:20:15 you're on my wedding uh that's I don't know if I gotta get approval from the boss from the big man first all right so yeah our wedding's in Cabo we'll give you guys all the details on the skinny confidential um it is coming along very slowly but surely and think drama drama drama i want drama and also think intimate intimate we're going intimate we're going intimate we cut we had to cut a lot of people not because just because i want to make sure that it's the people that i absolutely love love love, love, love, love. They're like so close. It's so intimate. I feel like a lot of our lives are on social media.
Starting point is 00:20:52 So it's important to me that when I get married, it's very like, we're going to have a moment for Christ's sakes, but we will probably be doing a podcast from the wedding. So Kevin, we're going to have to gear that up. And Kevin, you want to come? Yeah, we'll do it. Kevin wants to come. I'll come. I'll make an appearance. Ooh, Kevin, we're going to have to gear that up. Yeah, Kevin, you want to come? Yeah, we'll do it. Kevin wants to come. I'll come. I'll make an appearance.
Starting point is 00:21:08 Ooh. Here we go. Single and ready to mingle. That's going to be a fire show, the wedding podcast. That will be a fire show, but there's going to be weird mics in the pictures. That's fine. We don't care. We'll use the lapel mics.
Starting point is 00:21:19 I don't know what that means. Intimate but documented. That's the theme for the wedding. Yeah, intimate but documented. Again, theme for the wedding yeah intimate but documented um i just again i feel like a lot of our lives are out there so it's nice to have something that's kind of kept to ourselves lauren would be screaming cut mid bow no i might be screaming cut if it's not perfect i mean i don't know what to say she's walking down halfway down cut cut reverse can we do this again all right with that i think i think we're ready to get into some questions jordan okay
Starting point is 00:21:44 but before jordan starts with questions i just want to be totally transparent i did i did postmates um boob champagne i'm not gonna lie so michael's like having an anxiety attack about it so i just want to let you know if a guy from ralph's walks in it's my postmates send him send him on up this is why i love lauren okay i'm sorry i'm not like, Michael wants to have one sip of champagne and he's done. I like to have three sips. On the job, having some champagne, and now going to read some questions. All right, here we go. Here we go.
Starting point is 00:22:11 All right. Gabby Sarna asks, Lauren and Michael, how can you tell when a guy is being shady? Meaning, how can you tell if he is cheating around or lying? I went through my boyfriend's phone while he was in the shower and every one of his texts was deleted. What do you think about this? Well, the guy just must not gotten any texts for the last few days. I think that means he was cheating or, or he hasn't cheated, but maybe his intentions might be a little crooked. Why do you think that bare naked? Yeah. What's up Sherlock? Well, there is a guy that we work with and, well, I guess we did work with and he was kind of the
Starting point is 00:22:44 same thing. He didn't, he asked me, can you turn off where sometimes we need a text message. It does the, it reads the text message on the display. And he's like, I want to make sure nobody that just doesn't happen. Nobody can see inbound texts. And I don't want to save any names because I don't want a,
Starting point is 00:22:59 you know, a particular girl that I'm hanging out with to see another girl's name. So just, it harkens back to that. So this is shady as fuck. Yeah, exactly. That's what I'm hanging out with to see another girl's name. So just it harkens back to that. So this is shady as fuck. Yeah, exactly. That's what I'm any sort of, uh, tampering with phone text messages or, you know, contact names lead. It only goes one way and that's something bad. All Lauren sees when she looks through my phone is a bunch of four one five numbers saying, Hey, it's Postmates at your door. That is so true.
Starting point is 00:23:25 And here's my problem with Michael is that Michael doesn't delete his text. So there's archives from literally 2010. Like if anyone did anything that was like creepy or shady, I can literally pull it up. I'm the same way. I don't got nothing to hide. Like brother, like sister. I don't get why people delete their stuff. First of all, that takes a lot of time to go through and delete it.
Starting point is 00:23:46 I just don't see what the purpose is. Deleting my text message is like crossing something off my to-do list. I'm very OCD. I need a clean text message. I need to see what I've responded to. I never don't respond. So to delete it is like to say, I'm done with this. I've responded, and they can respond back.
Starting point is 00:24:08 So that's why I do that. It's like a check off my to-do list so what do you think of her question though so how do you how can you tell if someone's being shady because in your case maybe i should be checking your phone you're deleting i don't know what you got going on but i mean if someone's deleting and and doesn't have any text there's obviously something going on that they don't want you to see that doesn't necessarily mean it's cheating it could be something else yeah he could just be having a conversation with someone, maybe an old, an old girlfriend reached out to him or something. It could be a multitude of different answers,
Starting point is 00:24:30 but it's most likely he's cheating on you. Taylor, just go right to the jugular. Yep. I think it's weird when people go through people's phones. Yeah. That's what I was going to say. What about that?
Starting point is 00:24:40 Gabby, uh, or Gabby Sarna, uh, what were you doing going through your boyfriend's phone well I think that's like that's an issue in itself like I never go through Lauren's phone I don't I maybe she goes to my I don't think so I don't think I've ever seen you doing that but if you if you if you if you're at the point where you have to be going through someone's phone like
Starting point is 00:24:56 maybe there's something wrong in the relationship and uh maybe you should think about what like what it means to be in that relationship in the first place. So I think that you either got to be all in, you got to say, like, I fully trust this person, or you got to be all out. I would agree. I feel like I have totally had that ex-boyfriend that deletes all his text messages, but then I just look at his missed calls and his emails.
Starting point is 00:25:19 No, I'm just kidding. No, I've had the boyfriend that deletes all his text messages, and I feel like if someone's deleting all their text messages and being shady, there's like a reason to investigate. And I'm a spy. No, I am. Like, I will. Like, if I feel like someone's cheating on me, which I have been cheated on, I will investigate and figure it out. And at the end of the day, though, like, I don't want to be with anyone shady or cheating because it's not
Starting point is 00:25:45 worth my time and it's not worth their time. Like if they want to cheat on you, then let them go cheat. Like that's their own prerogative. So I think that if you have a feeling in your stomach and your gut as a woman that someone's cheating, then you should say sayonara, leave, peace out, and go find someone that values you. Yeah. Don't be one of those girls that has that gut instinct and then sits around and nags at the guy but never leaves. Oh, we all know those. That's annoying. I actually have a short story of a girl. The only time I ever really went through a girl's phone, it was an ex-girlfriend of mine.
Starting point is 00:26:16 Her name was Kate, name dropping. We're really calling people. Well, anyways, no, I cooked this big dinner. This big dinner, bought wine, everything. And she's like, yeah, I'm coming over. And she never showed. And I, I sat there like an idiot with all I prepped, cooked all this delicious food. And I sat there and I had a dinner and a bottle of wine for one, basically, but she never, she never reached out to me. Never said, Hey, sorry, something came up and I didn't hear from her for two days. And then finally she did call and she's like, oh, you know, I was sick.
Starting point is 00:26:45 Something really bad came up. Anyways, we were hanging out like a couple days later and I looked through her phone and she was hanging out with another guy. So, yeah, I understand like the, I can say that the suspicion of wanting to look through someone's phone, but that's the only time I've ever done it. And I still, I feel a little guilty about it, but I mean. Didn't feel so guilty when she was with another guy though. No, exactly. So I guess it was called for. Here's the thing. I think if your intuition and your stomach is telling you to look through someone's phone, there's an issue with Michael. There's never been an issue
Starting point is 00:27:18 to ever look through his phone because I trust him and I know he has integrity. And if he's going to go there at the end of the day, I don't want to be with someone like that. However, I have totally dated the loser that cheats. So I can sympathize with you guys out there. And again, if you feel the suspicion to go through his phone on a daily basis, then there's something going on and you need to sit down and examine that. Yeah. My views on this are a little bit more harsh. It's like, the way I look at it is I say, if, if you have a suspicion that someone's cheating, you either need to ditch them or you need to make peace with it and get on with the relationship. Just to, just to stay in a relationship, just to stay in one is a, is a huge problem. And I think it's a waste of both your
Starting point is 00:27:57 time. So really analyze like, Hey, do I want to be in a relationship with this person? Do I want to pursue this? Do I really want to like stay in this thing where I'm, where I'm having anxiety? And, you know, I was consulting with someone the other day and they were asking me about the same issue. They said, I think this person's cheating. I said, listen, get the answer. And if they are either make peace with it or move on, but like, it doesn't need to be such a big decision. I agree. What were you going to say, Jordan? I was going to say, you know, and consider the fact that you deserve better. And that was it. No, you do. You, you, no one deserves to be cheated on. And if someone's
Starting point is 00:28:30 going to cheat, that's totally, it's not fine. But if someone wants to cheat, they should get out of the relationship and go do that. And that's their own thing. And the other person should go the other way and do them. I don't understand this whole cheating thing. Like I just think you should just just break up. The person should go do what they want to do. And the other person should be set free. Yeah, and be honest about it. Lauren, I always like what you say.
Starting point is 00:28:52 Actually, you and Michael both say that you guys are a team. And if you cheat on your teammate or your partner, it's definitely not meant to be. And just walk away from it. Yeah, I think that at the end of the day, you should be a team in a relationship. And that should be your number one goal to be a team. And if you're not being a team, then you shouldn't be in a relationship. Agreed. All right.
Starting point is 00:29:13 I think we covered that one. Let's go to the next question. Heather Townsend asks, how do you get your blog out there? How do you get yourself noticed in the big world of blogging? I like this question. It's a Twitter question. I love this question, Heather. How do you get yourself noticed in the big world of blogging? I like this question. It's a Twitter question. I love this question, Heather. How do you get your blog noticed? Everyone wants like a very easy answer to that. And I feel like I've talked about this in other podcasts. The answer is, is to create consistent content on a daily basis. That's quality. No. And even, I mean,
Starting point is 00:29:41 obviously that's an easy answer. Create good quality content, authentic content. But when you're first getting yourself out there, think about collaborating and working with other brands or other people that are in the space that can help you. And don't go for the Michael Jordan of the industry. A lot of people make a mistake, but when they first start out, they go for that big ass, for that huge influencer or that huge blogger or somebody that's already very well established. There's nothing wrong with working with mid-tier bloggers or mid-tier influencers that are just starting out just as you are and sharing each other's audiences and working with each other and collaborating. Lauren did a lot of that in the beginning. She interviewed a lot of models. She interviewed a lot of... I collaborated. Yeah, collaborating is really... I mean, just the same with podcasting. We touched on Gary Vaynerchuk's show earlier in this episode.
Starting point is 00:30:27 And I said, when we first started, we went on his show. That's a perfect example. It didn't cost us anything. We went on there. We interviewed with him and we picked up some of his audience. So don't be afraid to collaborate. It's not a competition. You're not going to corner the internet space.
Starting point is 00:30:41 Oh, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. The Postmates is here. Champagne. Champagne's here. Hold on, hold on, hold on. I've got to on. Hold on. Hold on. Michael might take, I'll carry the show while she's grabbing the champagne. Yeah. So like I said, collaboration is a good way to do it. Make sure your social media is on point. Make sure you have a consistent message through all channels. Really try to put unique content out there and really push any channel that you can. When me and Lauren first started, she really focused in on a
Starting point is 00:31:06 niche, as she said in the beginning. And by focus, she started in the health and wellness space. And by focusing in on that niche, she was able to capture a pretty large audience right off the bat because she wasn't going for everyone. She was going for a smaller audience. So I think when you're first starting out, really decide who you want your audience to be in the beginning and really, really go after them and target them and target people that are other content creators in the same space and work with them to get your content out there. So, I can't reiterate the importance of influencers, and I brought them on my platform. And in exchange for that, I had them Instagram or social media or blast out on their Twitter, what they were doing with the skinny confidential. So it was a win-win for both. So they scratched my back, I scratched theirs. And what that did is it grew both of our platforms because we were exposing everyone to each of our audiences. So I would definitely say that if you have a blog, you should definitely
Starting point is 00:32:02 collaborate, not compete. I also, again, think quality content is so important. People need to walk away with kind of a value from the post that you post. So for instance, if you're doing an outfit post, there's 6 million outfit posts on the internet. What makes yours stand out? So I just did an outfit post the other day, and instead of just making it about my outfit, I made it about blogging tips and the whole post talked about what goes into a blog post. And I think that people walked away with value and, um, you know, they just walked away with something that they could take on their own and use it on their own. And it wasn't just about what I was wearing. So I would definitely recommend like quality. Another thing that I see that a lot of people don't do is they don't engage with their
Starting point is 00:32:44 readership. I think the reason anyone has a blog that's successful is because of their readership. So you have to really remember how important it is to engage and connect with who's reading your blog. I mean, I try to answer all emails, all Snapchat messages, all tweets. It takes a lot of effort. I'm not going to lie, but I love it. And it's definitely something that I make a point to do. So in a nutshell, unique content, collaboration, engagement with your audience or readership. And what I want to say, like I've said about everything in every kind of business, is you need to have patience. There's so many people that are starting out.
Starting point is 00:33:20 They read some entrepreneurial book or they see somebody on social media who's made it and they think, oh, I can do that and I can do that tomorrow. That's just not the case. There's no such thing as overnight success. You're going to have to put in the work. You're going to have to hustle. You're going to have to grind it out. And eventually, if you do that day by day by just making little progress every single
Starting point is 00:33:37 day, then you're out there. And I think if I could just stress one thing to people, it's patience and persistence. Those two things, like I've said from the beginning, you will get yourself out there. Yeah. Don't just look towards the goal. Look through the journey. Like, look, look to the whole thing that gets you to the goal. It's more than just getting there.
Starting point is 00:33:57 You know, I feel like Jordan has seen kind of the behind the scenes of the skinny confidential. What do you think? I mean, do you think there's been something that's been like a secret to success? It's just an everyday grind. Like it's the same. And you know, it's just constantly grinding away every single day. I remember when you first launched, I was still in college. Like that's crazy. It's just been every single day. And people now, I remember when you first launched, people were like, what are you doing? Like that's a blog. What? And now fast forward, it's been years. Yeah. It's been like six years and people to people. It seems like it's just all of a sudden you're just like super successful.
Starting point is 00:34:33 I'm not even super successful. I'm not even where I want to be. Like it's, it's so funny. Like they even say that, like, I'm not even where, you know, where I want to be. I mean, it's, I'm still working. It's still a journey. Yeah. But people see, you know, that you're gaining traction and they think that it just happened overnight, but really it's been every single day posting every single day, talking to your readers every single day. Well, and just think about it like this. Like when you see somebody out there, you're only, you're seeing the result of them getting out there. You're not seeing all the years of work and all the years of hustling. You're just, you're just seeing the end result. So it media makes it, I think, a little bit difficult
Starting point is 00:35:08 these days because people go and they say, oh, wow, look at this guy's account. Look, he's killing it. And they don't really see like this guy's not going to post the times when he's sitting in his basement crying over like how hard this is to get there. So I just think that, you know, be careful with social media because people are putting their best life out there, right? Like you're not going to show yourself sitting around having a shitty time on like a holiday. You're going to, you're going to show yourself having the best time, the best parts of it. So just keep that in mind and stay in your lane. Don't compare yourself to others. Keep pushing, collaborate, persistence, patience. I agree. Lauren's spilling champagne all over the table.
Starting point is 00:35:48 I'm sorry, I'm not the best at opening champagne, which I should be because I used to be a bartender.
