Starting point is 00:00:00 The following podcast is a Dear Media production. This episode is brought to you by The Skinny Confidential. Every single morning, I start my day with ice rolling. I have done this probably for the last four years. It is a non-negotiable in my morning routine, and I've been traveling a lot for work and for fun. And when I travel, I bring my compact mini mint roller. This is our travel roller.
Starting point is 00:00:30 It can go anywhere with you. So you could bring it in your handbag. It's like super small and little and compact. You could pack it in your suitcase. You could bring it on the plane with you. You can put it in your makeup, cosmetic bag, whatever. This mint roller goes anywhere. And what I like about this one for travel is it's covered. So it has a top and a bottom that keeps the rollers cold. We decided to do one side to contour. So it has like a little
Starting point is 00:00:58 divot. So this is going to sculpt the jaw and the cheekbones and like your brow bone. And then we also have the roller on the other side, which is just like our iconic ice roller. And this is more for de-puffing and lymphatic drainage. If you want to reduce puffiness, increase circulation, restore radiance, and shrink your pores, you have to try cold therapy in the morning. The mint roller is where it's at. We gave you guys a code. You can go to shopskinnyconfidential.com and use code LEMMEICE, L-E-M-M-E-I-C-E on shopskinnyconfidential.com. I highly recommend grabbing the limited edition mouth tape and the caffeinated sunscreen too, because they sell out all the time. Shopskinnyconfidential.com. She's a lifestyle blogger extraordinaire. Fantastic. And he's a
Starting point is 00:01:47 serial entrepreneur, a very smart cookie. And now Lauren Everts and Michael Bostic are bringing you along for the ride. Get ready for some major realness. Welcome to the skinny confidential, him and her. Obviously all my sisters have like, and my mom, like we all have a crazy work ethic and I don't know where it comes from. I think sometimes you see people who start businesses where there isn't that passion or someone told you, oh, this is, this could be a lucrative opportunity, but you can't fake the grit if you're not crazy passionate about it. I think it used to be that. It was kind of like, I think, before we had kids where we would just do, do, do
Starting point is 00:02:31 and not question it or think twice. It was like, oh, there's this, there's this, there's this. Like you want it to be worth it and make sense. Kourtney Kardashian Barker rarely does podcasts, but when she does, it's the him and her sense. Kourtney Kardashian Barker rarely does podcasts, but when she does, it's the him and her show. That is right. Get excited because Kourtney and her best friend, Simon, are on the show today.
Starting point is 00:02:57 And it's really fun because not only are they business partners, they're best friends. So I feel like we get to see a different side of Courtney in this episode. Simon, Courtney, Michael, and I sat down in Calabasas and we learned all the things about the multifaceted entrepreneur, media personality, devoted wife, mother of four, stepmother of three. We got to hear about how she establishes boundaries, to fully embracing her best self, to motherhood, to her thriving wellness empire, and Simon, who has been on this podcast two times before. Simon and Kourtney get candid about all the things from setting boundaries
Starting point is 00:03:38 to living life on their own terms. Think of this episode as like a little happy hour with all four of us. With that, let's welcome Kourtney Kardashian Barker and Simon Huck to the Him and Her show. This is the Skinny Confidential Him and Her. 40 days. Is that true that you did 40 days after the baby at home? You didn't leave once. Didn't leave once. What does that look like in your house 40 days? Are you doing like all this wellness health stuff? No, I'm like with the baby all the time.
Starting point is 00:04:13 All the time. Besides once a week, I would do a like an Ayurvedic massage that's part of the 40 days at home. Okay. And then Travis would hang out with the baby at that time during my massage. It was like a two hour treatment. I would do that once a week. The girl that you go to for the Ayurvedic treatment, I went to when I was pregnant. Oh, no way, Marta. Yeah. And they have the cookies or the banana bread. So good. I love the diet.
Starting point is 00:04:51 She also gave me a full diet. Yes, she gave. I don't think I followed. When I say diet, it's very, that sounds like restrictive. It's very nourishing. And it's like a lot of food, like warm, good foods and so many different things. So it was not restrictive. Plus, I feel like a lot of people send treats. I remember eating a lot of oatmeal raisin cookies. What else were you eating when you were pregnant to stay healthy? Like what are some of the, I know you're very, very conscious of what goes in your body. What are some of the foods that you were reaching for?
Starting point is 00:05:29 You mentioned warm, a lot of soup. What else? I love the word nourishing because it's like, I like like whole foods. Like I would eat for some reason, a lot of avocado toast, poached eggs with ghee, butter, and Celtic salt. And a good sourdough, fresh sourdough bread. Are you partaking in the wellness stuff, Simon? I am.
Starting point is 00:05:58 I've always eaten pretty clean, but I now, as a result of my friendship with Courtney and also Lemmy, I'm much more into supplements, even outside of just Lemmy supplements. Yeah. Did you take supplements before? No, not. You sent me ashwagandha like years ago for stress and anxiety. Yeah. For anxiety. And I was like, witchcraft. Like I didn't think. Astrogon is good for testosterone too, I think. Well, I just thought it was all a little bit voodoo because Courtney's always been on the border of voodoo. So I'm like, I didn't necessarily know the science. And then when we embarked on this journey together,
Starting point is 00:06:39 I started to see like there were real scientific claims around so many of these botanicals. What's the real story of how you guys came up with this concept? And even like before you guys did any of the branding or anything, are you guys just like sitting around shooting the shit, talking and you bring it up? Was there something that happened? Like what, how did you guys decide to start Lemmy? let me. So I ask Simon pretty much any business question that I have because I just feel like he knows. And so I would ask him multiple different deals that I would get brought to me. Some of them were like to white label just to put my name on a product of a supplement. I was like,
Starting point is 00:07:24 I don't think this is what I want to do, but we would just chat about it. And another one was like to fully create my own brand. Another one was someone that I really respected and loved her ideas, but they weren't really my ideas. It was just partnering and being involved. And so over the years, I kept having these deals come up. And I knew it was the space that I wanted to get into. But it was just never right. And then so Simon came to me and was like, we have this another deal that also wasn't right. But then we said, or we could do it on our own.
Starting point is 00:08:05 What did he tell you to convince you to come on this show? What is the behind the scenes? What did you say, Simon? Oh, for me? Yeah. I want to know what you said. My version was my friends have this amazing podcast. It's true. It's rooted in wellness. They're the best. It's so easy. And since you don't really do these type of podcasts or interviews in general, let alone just for the show or for anything, you just don't normally do them.
Starting point is 00:08:28 I was like, we'll do it together. So how fun is that? And then that was it. That's all you needed. my focus is raising my baby. Anything that deters me from that and my kids, all my four kids, and I have three stepkids. So that's just my life. But then, I don't know, Simon caught me in a moment where I was like, kids are back. Yeah. My baby's here. Well, it's not like you haven't done this kind of thing for a while now either, right? Like you've been doing this kind of public thing for a long time.
Starting point is 00:09:13 So I imagine at this point, you need to be somewhat selective. I also just don't want to do it anymore. So I'm like, this is not what I do. So this is like rare that I'm in an outfit. Like I look like I'm a working woman and I, but I'm not. I'm a stay at home mom. Yeah. You are in your own way, just on your own terms. Exactly. So when you guys decide to launch this brand, part of the alert sounds like is that you're able to be fluid at your house and do what you want to do on your own terms
Starting point is 00:09:49 without having to be out and about everywhere. And I didn't know that at the time because when I started the brand, I wasn't pregnant. I was fully working mom at the time. So it was just another thing. But I think that's, I think the authenticity of the brand and anything that I'm doing with the brand
Starting point is 00:10:14 truly does not feel like work. You just love it so much. I do. And it's also like genuine things that I'm like, just almost like we're just talking about as far as like product development or, you know, I'm also a great multitasker
Starting point is 00:10:32 and like, I do love it. So it really doesn't feel like work. And at the time, so there was this offer that was on the table for Courtney to launch a very large brand with a big CPG, I won't name names. In the wellness space? In the wellness space.
Starting point is 00:10:48 And that offer had been kind of sitting there for a few years. Courtney was passing on everything. She just wasn't interested unless it felt truly authentic. And then we had this conversation. We had ordered all these vitamins off of Amazon, the top selling gummy vitamins. All of them are filled with junky ingredients and the taste was mediocre. They didn't use clinically studied ingredients. They were using gelatin and we kept saying to each other, we could do so much better.
Starting point is 00:11:15 The only way to truly own the business from A to Z is to control your supply chain, hire the team, find your business partners, like put the work in instead of partnering with someone and being the face of it, really owning it. Like Courtney, even though she is a mom first, she knows the SFP, like the ingredients on the back of our products. She knows them better than anyone at our company. Courtney's personal doctors are on our medical board. They're our formulators. So it's very personal because Courtney lives that authentic lifestyle. Like she's been in supplements
Starting point is 00:11:49 for so long. I mean, half the products you take aren't necessarily related to Lemmy, but that just shows her passion towards the category. How do you guys think about when you first decide to do this, the infrastructure of the business?
Starting point is 00:12:03 So like, are you guys like, we need this person, we need this person? Do you run a lean, mean ship? How did you sort of plan out the foundation of it? Yeah. So the team, it starts small and there's that startup mentality. The business has grown and so is the team. And I think Courtney and I are very values aligned and which comes with 20 years of friendship. So we know the type of business we want to run. And there's this like idea in startups where it's like grow at all costs, which is just not the Lemmy way. And it's also not the way in science and supplements. So we're methodical and we're careful. And most businesses, especially celebrity businesses, they have an idea and 16 months later they're in market.
Starting point is 00:12:46 Courtney and I took four years before we even launched the business. So there was four years of development. We tested gummies for years until we got it right and we found the right manufacturers and the right partners. So it has been a process. And I think I was probably the one being like, Courtney, let's hurry up. But I now, in retrospect, am glad that Courtney's not one who can be rushed. Do not rush the process. It has to come authentically. I'm the same way. I like to be slow and thoughtful. I like to putz around. I like to think about it. I like to think about it. Yeah. I like to think about it after and I also like
Starting point is 00:13:26 it to be perfect. That's how you launch a good brand though. It has longevity. You know what I mean? How did you guys meet? Like what was the first moment that you guys met as friends 20 years ago? I have no idea. Do you? You don't? I do. I knew Chloe first. Okay. And then I met you through Chloe or Kim. And at the time, I don't know where it was, but it was way back in the day. I think you were at Smooch. Is that what it's called?
Starting point is 00:13:56 Stop. Really? What's Smooch? My kid's clothing store that I had in Calabasas. What's Smooch? I'm trying to keep up, but it'd be strange if I was like, oh, the kid's clothing store that I had in Calabasas. What, Smooch? I'm trying to keep up, but it'd be strange if I was like, oh, the kid's clothing store? Super jazzed on it?
Starting point is 00:14:10 Like, come on. Michael's peripheral's on. Keep me up with the Kardashians. I'm a winner of the lottery. Listen. No, Smooch would be worrisome if you knew that. We would be worried. If I was like, holy shit, Smooch.
Starting point is 00:14:18 I just lost my models. You'd be like, this guy's got to get out of the clothing. Yeah. And it was definitely pre-Scott. It was just way back in the day. Chloe and Simon were both personal assistants at the time. Yes. They would talk shit together about their jobs.
Starting point is 00:14:38 Yeah. I was with Jonathan and she was with Nicole Richie. Was it a slow build friendship or did you guys become best friends quickly? I think it was a slow build. It was a slow build because then when Courtney started having your kids, like we lost you for the kids year, like you were very mama mode.
Starting point is 00:14:56 Yes. As you are now. But it was, no, I think it was a slow build, but then it just became so authentic and normal. And we also interplay like friendship and business. How do you guys work together before Lemmy? Like what is the dynamic before Lemmy had launched? We really didn't work together besides, you know, Simon would come on our show sometimes,
Starting point is 00:15:21 but I don't consider it. That's not working. And then I have a marketing company outside of Lemmy that connects brands with celebrities. So Courtney would be the face of Daring Foods or she would do a campaign for one of the brands I represent. So we would test each other out in that capacity. So I would know the things that she's never going to agree to. Like a brand would say, well, Courtney's going to do an eight hour media tour. I'm like, good luck. Yeah. Like I know the things that are important to her. And with Lemmy, I know the triggers that like this is never going to work. Like we can't when it comes to ingredients and science, that is just something that is so important to Courtney and that she lives
Starting point is 00:16:01 in her daily life. You seem really focused Courtney on, seems like you only give your energy towards things that you want to give it to. And if you don't want to do it, like it's just, you're not going to waste your capacity. Well, like as a, it's a big no.
Starting point is 00:16:17 Yeah. It's like, I, what I find intriguing about you among other things, and it's maybe you might relate to this. Lauren like came out of the womb tap dancing. She's ready to go. And i'm a little bit more resistant but i will do things if it's required and watching you over the years on the show it seems like sometimes you're resistant
Starting point is 00:16:35 because the thing you want to be is at home with your kids which i relate to and i wonder how you over the years come to the decision to keep coming back when you have to be on the show yeah because i could tell sometimes maybe i'm wrong but it's like maybe the others are like okay we're ready to roll and you're like oh you really gotta think about it it's fair to say and i think there's times when i feel like i'm ready to roll and then you know i think at the place where I'm at right now, I don't film a lot. When I do, I'm like saying, hey, guys, I'm doing this. Do you want to come? Where it used to be like Monday through Friday filming, you know, or sometimes on the weekends, depending what was going on.
Starting point is 00:17:19 So it was like filming every day, all day, no matter what. And then I started having my boundaries, which everyone I'm sure knows about, where it was like, I carpool in the morning. We're done by this time because I'm going to be with my kids and we're going to have family dinner and whatever the things were. So then there was that phase. And now the phase is I say like, hey, I'm filming this podcast today.
Starting point is 00:17:47 Do you guys want to come film? So then it's, I'm truly saying, hey, come film this. So I'm not, I don't feel resentful. It's kind of on your terms. Exactly. When you were a little girl, did you think you were going to be doing work like this?
Starting point is 00:18:01 Did you ever anticipate you were going to be on television and have this kind of platform? What did you think you were going to do? I always wanted to be a fashion designer and I would play. I was Donna Karan and Kim was my assistant and I would make her like, we would be in my dad's office, like doing phone calls calls like, hey, I'm Donna Karan. And Kim would take the call first and get me. And then we would go upstairs to my mom's closet and just play with all the clothes. Where does both of you guys' work ethic come from? Obviously, all my sisters and my mom, we all have a crazy work ethic.
Starting point is 00:18:44 And I don't know where it comes from. Yeah. I think it comes from passion. Like you can only do something if you're crazy passionate about it. And with Lemmy, for example, like it's authentic. I think sometimes you see people who start businesses where there isn't that passion, where someone told you, oh, this could be a lucrative opportunity. Well, you can't fake the grit if you're not crazy passionate about it. I think it used to be that. Maybe before I did therapy and became self-aware. And actually, it was kind of like, I think, before we had kids,
Starting point is 00:19:23 where we would just do, do, do and not question it or think twice. It was like, oh, there's this, there's this, there's this. What do you mean? You just like say yes and be in this. Say yes and do it whether we were passionate or not passionate and just like do the deals. But don't you think in a way with kids, it forces you to slow down and think about that? I relate to that. We used to just say yes to everything.
Starting point is 00:19:47 And now I'm like, I have to be away from the kids or we have to be away from the kids. It's got to be a real reason. You want it to be worth it and make sense. And I think that naturally happens over time. And I think, yeah, just like I obviously feel grateful that I can be selective and choose to do the things that really mean something to me. It's almost like you have to say yes in the beginning, just say yes to everything to like get to the other side where you can then say no. And for me, it's the same thing. I look through it as a lens. Is this worth being away from my kids?
Starting point is 00:20:25 And if it's a no, I don't really want to do it. It's got to be worth it. With you, you said more passion. Well, I don't have kids. So I'm in my work era where I do probably work more than I... Phil was on this podcast right now. He would say that I'm a workhorse and I work too much. I don't think I do because I love what I do. I don't think of
Starting point is 00:20:50 Lemmy as work. And another thing, which I think is so important to even anyone listening, when you're starting a business, like if you're a business partner and you don't, if you don't have good vibe, meaning you don't want to get on the phone and talk about a problem for two and a half hours. Good luck with that business because vibe is so important. And I think we feel really lucky because everyone that we work with on the Lemmy team and just Courtney and I can hop on a Zoom for three hours and do circles about a problem and find the solution and hang up that call and not feel like we've wasted our time, Like we're happy to spend the time together. So that also is a big contributor to it. How do you guys wake up?
Starting point is 00:21:31 Do you wake up with your phone in your face? Do you wake up to a cup of matcha? What's your morning routine if you have one? I'm caffeine free because I'm breastfeeding. I wake up. How do I wake up? I don't know. I wake up. How do I wake up? I don't know. I feel like there's like birds.
Starting point is 00:21:48 Sleepy beauty. Cinderella. Courtney is an incredible sleeper. It's a superpower I've never seen. What are we talking? People that listen to this show love details. Are you sleeping from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m like what's the sleep schedule i'm on the craziest hours right now because of our whole summer of touring but i think one thing
Starting point is 00:22:14 too is because we sleep with our baby can you tell michael all the benefits of this because i want to do this if i have another baby no we no you're going to try to fight it. Just hear the benefits. I want to hear the benefits. Let's hear the benefits. My mom was saying this to me last night because she's not... She's a bit resistant. She doesn't have to worry about it because it's not her
Starting point is 00:22:36 baby and she's done having kids. She did have six of them. She did. As a mother, I like to do what feels natural and instinctual to me and that's for me what it is and of course i also read all the benefits and hear all the benefits and i mean it's something that mammals have been doing for since time existed. Is there a cutoff?
Starting point is 00:23:09 No, I mean, I think every person's different and every child is different. My oldest son slept with me till he was seven and just naturally wanted to sleep. I mean, also part of it, like at a certain time, I would put him to bed in his room and then he would come in my room. That's what my daughter does. She comes in. And then at seven, he just, he stopped.
Starting point is 00:23:33 And he was like, I'm done with you. I sleep in my own room. And then my daughter slept with me pretty much till she was 11. Well, this may be too much information because we just met, but I need to sometimes be able to get to her, if you know what I mean. Yeah. The kid's there. Yeah, well, you're going to have to use
Starting point is 00:23:52 other ideas. We figure it out. Yeah, you've got to be resourceful. I'll meet you in the theater room. Yeah, that's fun. Also, you just put locks on the theater door. Yeah. I will say If you hear noises locks on the theater door. I will say that both parents being aligned on that is really important.
Starting point is 00:24:18 My perspective is if that's what she wants, we're doing it. My husband loves it too. Get aligned. I go back and forth because i'll lay there with my daughter and then i will think about when i can't do that anymore and that makes me sad so like i want those it's gonna go so fast my son just started high school like it's gonna go so fast you're gonna be like that's wild to think about you know you just stopped sleeping with your mom so no my mom was like it's never happening i never actually there was no chance that her my mom's half japanese she was like good luck i never happening. There was no chance with her.
Starting point is 00:24:46 My mom's half Japanese. She was like, good luck, buddy. I don't think your mom would let you sleep in the same room. Yeah, I think she left for like two, she's going to kill me for saying this, because this podcast might get a few listens. She left for a while and she was like, yeah, you were fine. Your aunt took over for a minute. Oh my gosh.
Starting point is 00:25:00 I'm fine. Everything's okay. You seem fine. Everything's working for me. So what are your normal hours if you're home? You're doing your 40 days, 40 nights. What are the hours that you would like to sleep? What are the hours that you try to sleep?
Starting point is 00:25:14 I would say I probably sleep generally at home like 11 to 7. And then what are you guys doing when you wake up? What are like the things that you go for? Do you have like a lemon water? So I alternate. Sometimes I do a lemon water. Okay. My husband always brings me whatever that is in bed.
Starting point is 00:25:35 So whether it's like, sometimes I just do, because he makes a matcha. He gets up and he makes a matcha and then he'll bring, while he's having his matcha, I'll have either a hot water, a hot water with lemon or a hot water with apple cider vinegar but before i do that i have colostrum is my new thing colostrum is the best love it i have colostrum first and then wait your own colostrum or colostrum powder powder okay because i, because I think you can drink your own colostrum, I think. But I think that you only have a tiny...
Starting point is 00:26:08 Yeah, you only have it in the beginning. Tiny bit. And your baby really needs that. I know, you should give it to the baby. I was like rubbing it on my face. Like, mommy needs her skincare. And then, yeah, have nice like snuggly moments in bed. We do that.
Starting point is 00:26:25 No, I need apple cider vinegar with warm water tomorrow. No, we have a- Does he bring you a tray? No. Okay. A glass. I could use a tray. A cup, a mug.
Starting point is 00:26:35 But she does this thing to me where she's like, you need to make all these things. And she has 15 beverages. Then she won't drink any of them. And she's like, it's the thought of the thing. I like a sip. I'm a slow sipper. What is the point of all this?
Starting point is 00:26:45 It's a little wasteful. What is your morning routine? For some reason, I think you reach for your phone. It's definitely not that. I have a quad latte within 17 seconds of getting up. And then I am on my phone five minutes later. Is a quad latte four shots? It is four shots.
Starting point is 00:27:03 That's insane. Yeah. And then I'm in work land by 7.30 in the morning. Now, I will say I burn bright and fade fast. So Courtney knows I'm not available after 6.30. At nighttime,
Starting point is 00:27:17 I turn my phone off. Courtney will send a message at 10.15. She's like, I know you're not going to get this, but let's talk about this in the morning. If any time passed, like realistically 9 p.m., I know Simon is not available. What are the wellness things that you both
Starting point is 00:27:33 do throughout your day? Are you guys cold plunging? Are you sauna? Is there things that you guys love, like a certain concoction? What are things the audience loves this, like little wellness hacks you know who we had recently on our show was dr andy galpin and he mentioned he brought up your husband because your husband loves cold plunging right because she loves cold plunging they were
Starting point is 00:27:53 going back and forth like a certain person gets super wired but she was trying to say like hey you need to like regulate the amount you do the cold plunging so So I'm not a cold plunger. We have a cold plunge. And I think also you're technically, I've seen mixed things about if you should do it while you're breastfeeding. So I haven't been doing sauna, cold plunge, or any type of those wellness things. I actually spoke to Andy because I'm building a wellness section at my home to have those things. Because you think about it, we dedicate these spaces in our homes to different things that maybe aren't as important. But I feel like it's really important to have a wellness space. When I was breastfeeding, I stood in front of red light, and all of a sudden milk started shooting out of my nipples. Whoa.
Starting point is 00:28:52 Like just pouring out. I have a red light panel. I just set it up yesterday, and I was curious if I could do it. I don't know if that means it's like detoxing it. Right. Cause you're not supposed to detox while breastfeeding. I don't know what it meant, but all I remember, I just remembered that when you were talking about your wellness stuff, it just started shooting out.
Starting point is 00:29:18 This is Lauren. Nice to meet you. Lauren and I are all about efficiencies and not doing things the hard way. One of the easiest things that you can do right now and make a huge difference in your life is switching your household cleaning supplies to better for you, cleaner ingredient cleaning supplies. This is why Lauren and I are such huge fans of Branch Basics. Their premium starter kit replaces all of your harmful cleaning products in the home. And Branch Basics is free of fragrance, hormone disruptors, harmful preservatives that wreak havoc on our health, and so much more.
Starting point is 00:29:48 We have done two episodes with the founders of Branch Basics. Allison, the founder who first came on, told us all about the shortfalls and dangers of the typical cleaning supplies that are kept in the house. I myself was a skeptic and did not really understand why we would switch cleaning supplies. I didn't understand why it would make a difference. Once we spoke to her, my eyes were opened and I haven't looked back since. Why would you not want better for you cleaning supplies without all these harmful chemicals and things that we have since found to be so harmful for our hormones, our health, our children, our pets, all of these things? Branch Basics is also cost effective because like I said, their premium starter kit
Starting point is 00:30:21 replaces all of your harmful cleaning products in the home. One thing I do not mess around with, and that is my oral health. I take it very seriously. You guys know I'm a fan of cleaning the tongue, the teeth. I get my teeth cleaned like every three months. I really just like having
Starting point is 00:31:11 a mouth that is tended to. And something I've been using that you guys are going to be obsessed with is it's this Aura Brush Tongue Cleaner. It's by this company called Dentek. They're the leader and the number one brand in dental guards for nighttime teeth grinding, but they also have this very specific product. It's a tongue cleaner. It freshens your breath and you basically just clean your tongue with like 103 of these ultra soft micro pointed bristles. Essentially, they get into each crevice of your tongue and they like loosen and lift the bacteria. Whereas sometimes the scraper can collect it and remove it. This is actually like
Starting point is 00:31:51 getting in there and lifting the bacteria out. I got mine on Amazon. Dentek is also available at Target, Walgreens, Walmart. But you have to try this Ora brush if you haven't. The bristles are designed after a surgeon's scrub brush. So it's a two-in-one bristle that lifts the bacteria, whereas, like I said, the scraper removes it. They also have nightguards and an oral care kit. I am just a real big fan of the Aura Brush. You can't go wrong with that. Dentec is available at multiple retailers, including Target, Walgreens, Walmart, and Amazon. I got all my goodies on Amazon. It was so seamless and easy.
Starting point is 00:32:28 Dentek, the brand to help you take charge of your oral health care. I absolutely transformed my hair. Like, I wish you guys could see how crazy it is. Maybe I'll share a before and after on Instagram stories, but my hair was not in good health. And now it is literally almost to my butt. I don't wear extensions anymore. It's just had this huge transformation and I cannot shut up about it. So I did a couple different things to really change the trajectory of my hair. But I also made sure that I was getting the right supplements. And for my hair specifically, I use Nutrafol. Most of you know this if you've listened to the podcast. I had like a shedding
Starting point is 00:33:11 issue where a lot of my hair would fall out. I also had just thin, brittle hair and I wanted to make it really luscious. So I've seen improved hair growth since taking the supplement. I've also seen decreased shedding, which was really important to me. And it should not come as a surprise because Nutrafol is the number one dermatologist recommended hair growth supplement. It has over a million people seeing thicker, stronger, faster growing hair, and they have less shedding. Get results you can run your fingers through like me. For a limited time, Nutrafol is offering our listeners $10 off your first month subscription and free shipping when you go, Nutrafol is offering our listeners $10 off your first month subscription
Starting point is 00:33:45 and free shipping when you go to Nutrafol.com and enter promo code SKINNYHAIR. Find out why over 4,500 healthcare professionals and stylists recommend Nutrafol for healthier hair. Nutrafol.com spelled N-U-T-R-A-F-O-L.com promo code SKINNYHAIR.
Starting point is 00:34:01 That's Nutrafol.com promo code SKINNYHAIR. What are the other things that you guys do like wellness throughout the day? Yeah. Any wellness things I work out every day and sleep for me is like my number one wellness hack. So fixing my sleep was critical for me to be able to function because I'm breastfeeding. That's why I was saying I'm very, I have baby brain. I'm in a baby bubble. So because I'm breastfeeding, I really working out is not a top priority. I walk every single day with outside, get some fresh air with the stroller. Even if it's raining, I love to walk outside in the rain or whatever's going on, but I walk at least two miles. Sometimes I'll walk four miles, like I'll do it twice.
Starting point is 00:34:54 But my wellness right now is things that make me happy. So it's like making pancakes for my kids in the morning and waking them up and driving them to school. You know, it's like my day is the simple things make me really happy. Do you guys monitor the content that you consume? Meaning like, are you like watching TV a lot? Is there Instagram accounts that you guys follow or are you guys like shut off from it i don't watch a lot of tv but on the tour bus i'll watch like we'll put on the tv at the end of the night and kind of watch some things and sometimes i think to myself is this too dark like should we not be watching these crazy serial killer shows or whatever? But then like, they're so good. Yeah. I have to delete TikTok and Instagram fairly often because I find myself going into these rabbit holes that are not helpful for my mental health.
Starting point is 00:36:00 But you are so much better because you used to go spend more time. Now I feel like you rarely use your phone on Instagram. I don't use my phone a lot. And I try to be present in the moment. I'll leave my phone on purpose. Which is a new thing, I would say. Like new as in the last couple of years. But I also have a lot of positive content. I was telling Simon on my TikTok, it's a lot of Bible content i was telling simon on my tick tock it's a lot of bible verses
Starting point is 00:36:27 and health and wellness things i think it's what you spend time sure consuming so i always i always say like if you can tell what frequency you're on by what content's being served to you right don't you think yes and that's scary for my content those being served to you. Right. Don't you think? Yes. And that's scary for my content. Those algorithms know what you're, like they get used to what you're looking for. Yes. And what you spend time actually looking at. So mine is health and wellness, kids stuff, Bible verses. You mentioned therapy earlier.
Starting point is 00:37:02 Is therapy something that you like love? Do you feel like it's helped you evolve as a person? Is it something that you can't live without still? I love therapy. I think it's completely helped me grow. And I think it's really hard when you first get started with it because it can almost, for me at least, it could make me have a negative outlook
Starting point is 00:37:29 towards certain things, but I don't feel that way anymore. I think that's part of the growth and part of the journey is getting past that. Just having a, I think I have a deeper understanding of people and compassion for people and just knowing that we're all doing our best and on our own journey. And it's not something I do to do a double session once a week and I don't do that anymore. It's, it could be like a month that I don't do it. And then I'm
Starting point is 00:38:14 like, Oh, it would be good. Do you do therapy? I did. And then I stopped, but now it's maintenance. I do love meditation and Melissa Wood health got me on to meditation, which I've been really bad at recently. And I can see the rumination start to come out. So then I go back and I do the maintenance and I do the work. Are you meditating to Melissa Wood? She's such a good meditation voice. No, she just got me on to calm. So I do it on calm and I, or headspace, calm and headspace. After or before the quadruple latte? So before, but that was the problem. I couldn't get myself motivated without the quad latte,
Starting point is 00:38:51 but you cannot meditate on a quad latte. And would you just fall asleep, fall back to sleep before the latte? No, I just couldn't focus on like, you know, your mantra. I'm just like, oh God, this isn't working for me. There's a mantra. Yeah, one of them, I had a mantra. The other one I didn't.
Starting point is 00:39:10 It was just like following the waves. I'm like, I can't follow these waves anymore. Hey mom. Hey mom. Hey mom. Hey mom. Hi. Hi.
Starting point is 00:39:21 Good. It's going great. Thank you. I said I live in sweats pretty much. I haven't unpacked my, since I've moved in to my husband's house or our house, whatever, moving in together. I haven't moved my clothes over.
Starting point is 00:39:41 So it's been 10 months and I just wear his clothes. Just wear his sweats. I wear his clothes every day. You've inspired me because the next time I have a baby, which might have happened last night,
Starting point is 00:39:54 would not leave me alone. Perhaps the kid had to move out of the bed. Yeah. I want to do 40 days, 40 nights. And I can't believe I'm saying that because I was the one that was like,
Starting point is 00:40:06 let's get back to work right after, two weeks after. Let's go out to dinner. And I think I'm going to try 40 days, 40 nights. And I think I'm going to let the baby sleep in the bed with me. Well, this is kind of strange to say, but we were somewhat lucky with our first... This was actually real strange. We had our daughter January of 2020. And so I went right back to work two weeks, but then COVID happened. And so we were all forced to,
Starting point is 00:40:30 and I think it was really good because I would have just gone straight back. I know. There's some nice elements, wasn't there? So I think staying home, like, doesn't that give you so much peace to think about and take off so much pressure of having to get, be like, I'm going to bounce back. It's almost something you want to prove to yourself the first time, I think. Totally. And the first time I was a maniac, I look back and I almost feel bad for myself. I was like, oh, like, why did I have feel so much pressure to do that? Yeah. I felt like I needed to like lose the weight right away.
Starting point is 00:41:06 I think it's nice. It's soft what you're doing. And I didn't feel that this time at all. Like the pressure, the anything, I just, I still don't feel the pressure. I hardly work out. I walk. I nourish myself with good foods. I'm not hard on myself. I think it's the way to be. What's something that people would not know about touring? It seems like it's a lot of work, a lot of planning. It is. But I think what I've learned in it is less is more. the first like just go with the flow bring one suitcase re-wear clothes throughout like I'm like mixing and matching like between the clothes that I have out there so I mean you're living out of a suitcase where the first time I felt like, oh, I have these outfits and I have like, I had multiple suitcases. I think I had three or something the first time I went.
Starting point is 00:42:11 And then every city going in, unpacking, undoing the three bags, taking the hanging clothes, hang them up. It just became too much of a thing. And I just became really easy with it. And yeah, I think just going with the flow and being easy. What is it like for Travis when he's on tour? Is it like, is he all consumed with what he's doing or does he go play the show and he comes back and it's just like a normal day? I say afterwards, I'm always like, cause he'll come from that, you know, 70,000 people,
Starting point is 00:42:42 like you're performing in front of of and that crazy adrenaline and energy. And then right off the, like onto the tour bus and we're hanging out with the baby in the back in pajamas, you know, listening to baby Beluga. And I'm like, is this, is this is this so strange you know to come off stage to and like it's like two polar opposite worlds and he's like it's like it's the best thing in the world you know the juxtaposition of it to be able to come and i think we also like we stay in like a try Try to be peaceful about the actual places we're staying. And he does a lot of health and wellness. Consumes his day with that. Just recovery and cold plunge, sauna, hyperbaric.
Starting point is 00:43:39 Does he have a protocol for how long he goes in? I think so. I don't know exactly what it is. But yeah, I think cold plunge is three minutes. I'm not sure exactly what. He likes intense. One of the initial attractions is you guys are both so into that world. I think definitely because we were friends for so long and connected as friends, you know, about health and wellness.
Starting point is 00:44:04 He got me my first matcha latte ever. Oh, that's cute. And I didn't know what matcha was. Are we, are we boring you? Chris, kid in the bed or not in the bed?
Starting point is 00:44:23 Never a kid in the bed. I might be from your generation. I said to my mom last night, I wouldn't be able to sleep if my baby was in another room by himself in a crib. That feels to me like... No, I'm not saying you are. I just...
Starting point is 00:44:43 I did. And I'm not saying it's bad because that's what everyone did at the time. And people, you know, probably think, don't understand what I'm talking about, but I personally wouldn't be able to sleep. I know exactly what you're talking about.
Starting point is 00:45:00 And I think as I go on, I'm busy right now. My kids are two and four she's a hoot you know i think like this is something we talk i think parents should not worry about how other people are going to parent like i always find it so strange when we say anything or she says and people are like up and i get really ripped up about giving my kids raw milk oh really ripped up just just, they can't, they don't understand.
Starting point is 00:45:26 I don't really care. But I agree with you and I've noticed people could also say something thinking that it's being a compliment. Like, I was on a flight. The
Starting point is 00:45:42 flight attendant was so nice and said, I just have to tell you that you are such a good mom. And like she was, I could tell was surprised and was like, you're such a good mom. You had your baby with you the entire flight. You're breastfeeding him and taking such good care of him. And she was like, I see other moms
Starting point is 00:46:04 and they're just not, they hand their baby to the nanny, you know, the second they got on the plane. And as nice as it was, it literally like had like tears in my eyes because I was like, it's nice to hear. But then I started thinking afterwards like, but you don't know what the other person was going through. What if she literally the
Starting point is 00:46:25 mom didn't sleep all night sure wasn't feeling well there's could be a million things what if the baby just is getting bored for a second with the mom and it's like nice to have a change of scenery you're sitting on a plane for all these hours like you just don't know you don't know what anyone else is going through so I felt like as nice as it was to hear that it's also like can we just not judge yeah I mean what I was kind of getting at earlier was we get that kind of response whenever we talk about any topic that maybe is counter to someone's way of life right but in your world how have you navigated that many voices coming in and commenting on what you're doing not doing how you're doing it do you even read it anymore But in your world, how have you navigated that many voices coming in and commenting
Starting point is 00:47:05 on what you're doing, not doing, how you're doing it? Do you even read it anymore? No, but I also feel really connected to being a mother. And I feel so deep inside about what I'm doing. I feel so confident about what I'm doing for me and for my kids and so I don't it doesn't make me doubt the way that I'm doing things and I also like even with my mom last night like I could sit there and be like, okay, but let me show you all this research and get defensive about it. I don't feel that way either.
Starting point is 00:47:50 I'm just like, yeah, this is what works for us. When she's touring, are you primarily working on Lemmy? I'm primarily working on Lemmy full-time, yeah. So it's a full-time situation. Full-time, yeah. How are you guys keeping to come up with these innovative products? What's the, like, how do you, how does it happen?
Starting point is 00:48:12 So in the beginning, it was a lot of research before we had a community and like customer feedback. Now that we have a big community, like we hear from hundreds, thousands of people every day, whether through Courtney's Instagram or social media or through our community. We hear from hundreds, thousands of people every day, whether through Courtney's Instagram or social media or through our community. So really, the product pipeline, it designs itself. You just hear from your community who are looking. This product, Lemmy GLP-1, we had thousands of people. Over the last two years since we launched Lemmy,
Starting point is 00:48:42 this is the most requested product of people looking for a natural solution to GLP-1 medications. So all we've heard about over the last three years is Ozempic, Munjaro, and obviously they're incredibly effective, but there's also a litany of side effects. And there's a lot of people out there, like large swaths of the population who don't want to take a medication for long periods of time just because A, it's really expensive and B, it's a synthetic drug that you're injecting into your body. So for us, all of that in terms of like how we come up with our products, this product in particular comes from just the feedback loop from our community. What's the one that you guys resonate with the most that you're really
Starting point is 00:49:25 like loving every single day out of all of them? I take Lemme Chill every day just because I'm a strength. You're on a quad. Hello, like I'm wired. I'm on a quad latte. I gave Michael like five Lemme Pers. I'm like, whoops. It's a Lemme Per one.
Starting point is 00:49:40 It's for the vagina. Yeah. Jesus Christ. Men can take it. Oh. Well, okay. Well, maybe I'll take the chill. Yeah, you can it oh well maybe i'll take the chill yeah you can take the chill which one are you taking it like your favorite i alternate okay what so i take
Starting point is 00:49:53 lemmy mama every day which is our prenatal that we formulated because when i was, we couldn't find the perfect prenatal. So my doctor helped us formulate that one. I like having one after a treat, after I eat something, the gummies. So I'll alternate. I love a probiotic. So I'll take Lemmy Pur or Lemmy Debloat as like a probiotic to just take throughout the day. I have a little supplement bag that I travel with and I keep Lemmy C in there, which is our sea moss. And I do take that, which is, I think my nutritionist said it was great while I'm breastfeeding. So I take that one every day.
Starting point is 00:50:43 What's the benefits of sea moss? Well, it has 92 of the what? 102 minerals that your body needs for daily function. So there's antioxidant benefits. There's immunity benefits. Ours also has vitamin D. That one sounds really interesting. Yeah. It's amazing. And it's a dropper. So, and it's sweet. So I just drop it in my mouth and it's a dropper. And it's sweet. So I just drop it in my mouth and it's like one of my sweet... Or you can put it in a smoothie. Did you have that one when you came on the last time? We did, yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:12 You did? I haven't tried that one. I got you. How will you guys continue to sort of innovate the brand? Are you just really like going to the community? Is it amongst each other? Is it something that you guys are constantly thinking about? Because it sounds Are you just really going to the community? Is it amongst each other? Is it something that you guys are constantly thinking about? Because it sounds like
Starting point is 00:51:27 you're really disrupting. The lollipop thing was cool. I was like, that's smart. That is all. That was one of the first things that I wanted to do because I used to suck lollipops every day.
Starting point is 00:51:42 That's the headline. Yeah. That sounded crazy. So that actually sounds insane. Yeah, why? I mean, we're going to go down this road. Why lollipops? Just, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:52:01 Like when my husband and I were first together, we just would always have like a lollipop. I was thinking this was when you were a little girl. No, this is as an adult. And so I said, let's do a lollipop that has benefits and is infused with, you know, something. And so it did take us a while. Four and a half years to get it right. To formulate it and figure it out and get the consistency good
Starting point is 00:52:26 and be able to get collagen in the lollipop. But they're amazing. It makes sense because a lot of that through the saliva is actually a really good delivery system, right? Yeah. And also one of the tricks was we didn't want, Courtney did not want a flat lollipop. I didn't want those flat little ones that don't feel like a lollipop.
Starting point is 00:52:45 Courtney really wanted like a globe. Like a Tootsie Pop one. Like a Tootsie Pop. And that is, like from a manufacturing perspective, that was a challenge. So that was a four and a half. Yeah, we were on a journey there.
Starting point is 00:52:56 But we're, I mean, we're obsessed with the lollipops. What's the inner workings of the creative? Like how do you guys come up with it? Is this like, do you guys like have like a slumber party and figure it out? Or is it just conceptualized over time? Courtney is the queen of the vibes. There's a lot of vibes being shared every day. There's vibes shared. And also I think the brand to me, when you know what the brand is,
Starting point is 00:53:22 it's, it like screams Lemmy. If I know it's either like, this doesn't feel Lemmy or this is so Lemmy because the brand is just, it's such its own thing. And I think part of what it is going back to the lollipops and the gummies is like, it started as making wellness and taking supplements fun and it being playful and a treat type of thing that you could look forward to every day instead of, oh, I got to take my 20 supplements or whatever. So it's just supposed to be. So I think it was. That's why we started with it with gummies and then lollipops. And obviously it is science backed and a serious brand, you know,
Starting point is 00:54:13 that we have like supplements and capsules and things to take, but it's, we have a huge capsule business. So if you, if you don't want a gummy, we have the capsule version of it with debloat and purr. And people do love capsules, but we know that the younger audience,
Starting point is 00:54:29 like they start their wellness journey in gummies. I mean, it is like a treat. Yeah. So what happens if you start taking the new GLP-1 daily? Like what will your body start to do? So it's three clinically studied ingredients that support weight management. So burning visceral fat, and then there's appetite control.
Starting point is 00:54:47 So curbing sugar and carb cravings. And arguably like the most important is it increases GLP-1 hormone naturally in your body. So it's a synthetic without having to take a synthetic drug. So we know that 70% of people who are taking GLP-1 medications stop after a year because of side effects, because they don't want to take a drug, because they're also extremely expensive. So people are looking for these natural solutions. And I think one of the challenges in supplements is people are using GLP-1 as like marketing jargon everywhere. And we have spent years getting this right and using ingredients that are really game changing.
Starting point is 00:55:33 I have known about Origin since I was in high school. Starting point is 00:56:51 Origins.com and Ulta. The holidays are coming up, which is wild. I mean, oh my God, so much. One thing I do though for every holiday in the fall is I make my mom's pumpkin roll. It's on the blog. You've probably seen it if you've been a reader or a listener for a long time. And one thing that makes the recipe very creamy and delicious is the specific cream cheese that I use. So I use Philadelphia cream cheese in this recipe. If there's anyone that knows creamy, it's Philadelphia cream cheese. This cream cheese is really versatile and it can be used to enhance any meal snack or
Starting point is 00:57:30 anything in between. So what I do is I make a cream cheese frosting and this cream cheese frosting goes on the pumpkin bread and then you roll the pumpkin bread up with the cream cheese in it and you cut it into slices. My family like attacks me for it. And it's no surprise because it's delicious. The cream cheese frosting is so creamy. It thinks to Philadelphia cream cheese. It really makes everything creamier. I was on TikTok the other day and there's so many different things that you can make with cream cheese. You can enhance your guacamole with it. You can make a creamy pasta Alfredo, buffalo chicken dip, just like so many creative things. It just takes the recipe up a notch. Philadelphia makes everything creamier.
Starting point is 00:58:12 Visit creamcheese.com for recipe inspiration and so you can start adding Philadelphia to your recipes at home. Visit creamcheese.com. Quick break to talk about one of our favorite supplements, something that we have taken every single day since we first met the founder of this company and that we continue to take. Are you somebody that is trying to lose weight? Well, when you're cutting calories, you not only lose fat, but you lose muscle. Key on aminos helps prevent muscle loss, which is going to keep you in shape, keep you burning fat, but also keep that muscle mass that you want. Keon Aminos can help you feel full when you're cutting calories as well. Every single time we go for a workout, we take a little bit of the Keon Aminos and we put them in our water. Then we add them to water throughout the day. You can do one serving to start. I'm up
Starting point is 00:58:58 to three servings. And what this is going to do is it's going to help me build lean muscle for a faster metabolism for a lean toned body. So for anyone that's trying to lose weight and keep their muscle mass, Keon Aminos can be an absolute essential for your supplement routine. In addition to helping you keep your muscle, the Keon Aminos also contain EAAs, which are inside protein, and that's what builds muscle, healthy hair, skin, and nails. So there's some added benefits. We personally take the powder form so that we also hydrate along with it, but they also come in pill form. Lauren likes to take those when we travel, but I prefer the powder. So you can do either or. I highly suggest you check out
Starting point is 00:59:33 the episodes we did with Angelo, who came on and talked about the incredible benefits of Keon amino acids. I have to ask you about something that's really random, but I want to know how you think about traditions. I'm really wanting to make traditions for my kids. I see on the show how you take Christmas really seriously. I've gotten inspired. I've like screenshotted some things you do for
Starting point is 01:00:18 Halloween. Like it seems like there's a lot of thought around it. I'm assuming you got it from your mother. Like, have you always been like that? And how do you like get ready for each holiday? So I think my life was like that growing up. Yeah. And then I think, and then it went away for, I would say my twenties, except for like, you know, Kendall and Kylie were younger.
Starting point is 01:00:42 So like we, my mom continued the Halloween parties, Kendall's birthday is November 3rd. So we always would do big things for Christmas and those traditions kept up. But then I think one of such a beautiful thing about having kids is being able to see, you almost get to experience it through their eyes all over again. Those traditions are important to me, like I always do pumpkin carving or, you know, there's the certain things that we always do. And even now in our house with all of our kids, all the seven kids, we'll do family dinner every Sunday night. And we do the peak and pit of the day at the table, which is what we, my dad, that was one of our dad's traditions.
Starting point is 01:01:37 And then we've done that. And so we do it with our kids. So, yeah, I think traditions are very important. And when I saw, and Michael's going to be like, what are you talking about? But you're like about to give birth and you have your scrapbooks out. Oh, yes.
Starting point is 01:01:54 I'm like, oh my God, I also got a scrapbook. The way you scrapbook is so intense. What is the process? Are you like actually putting the photos in and doing it yourself? Yes. So I'm not, I'm not a scrapbooker. I've never done this in my life, but I did it for our one year wedding anniversary. And I thought it was going to be something that was really fast and then i i printed out all these photos i went through since we were together all the photos and then printed them all out and then i've always
Starting point is 01:02:35 saved like do you guys save hotel keys and things like that if you're and stuff like that yeah exactly or like something little special things like that so i put all of those in i'm not anywhere near done and now it's so much work it's so much like i still am doing my firstborn's baby books still same i mean i'm still i barely did them like kim is amazing at doing baby books and all of that. What similar generation did your mom like keep the like, remember the old books with the pictures? My mom has a shitload of those.
Starting point is 01:03:12 So I have those. Your mom is amazing though. Chris is amazing at keeping all those memories. She just gave me like a hard drive and she said it's all my grandmother's home video that she would take but now I have to find the time to go watch it it's amazing how meticulous I think that's one of my favorite things about watching your show is that to see all the little details from the fridge to like the pumpkins that you do on Halloween, like cascading up the, I love, that's my favorite part of it.
Starting point is 01:03:51 It's like everything is so thought out. Every little detail. It's a sickness. I like it. I like it. Pinterest goes a long way, by the way. If you're not on Pinterest, it's so fun and it can give you some great ideas and help it like helps my brain put it all together of what the vibes are is there like an inner family
Starting point is 01:04:16 competition start to happen between who can do yeah you don't know about the competition I don't know I just assume it would get competitive if people start, you know, like this is my decolor competition. Yeah, this is my, I'm going to have this. Yeah. All the time. Like, do you have to claim a color? You, yeah.
Starting point is 01:04:33 If you do anything similar, like for gift wrap, every Christmas, we'll think like what gift wrap. Everyone does like their own and it's like all their gifts are wrapped like that and it's like all their gifts are wrapped like that and it's always heated.
Starting point is 01:04:48 I think you've won a lot of them though. I have. I'm always like, look, I like the gift wrap. I like to look at the ribbon. I like to look at the holiday stuff. That's like my favorite part. No, it's an eldest child thing.
Starting point is 01:04:59 We're all eldest child. Eldest child's the best child. Are you the oldest? I'm the youngest. Oh, sorry I said that, Simon. No, it's fine. No, no, no. It's totally fine.
Starting point is 01:05:09 I'm sorry that happened to you. The oldest does get the most attention though. I feel like I got the most attention. Yeah, I guess you could. I got the most from my dad. Yeah. So did I. But you also get the most oversight.
Starting point is 01:05:22 It's almost like, because I have two younger sisters and I feel like I was held to a stricter standard. Does that make sense? It was like the slowly over time, the punishments would get. And I think you learn things with the oldest that then you're like,
Starting point is 01:05:37 I don't want to do that again. Right. Like my youngest, not my baby, but my youngest has the least phone time. He kind of gets like, he got the video game, like major roles, you know, like, because I learned. How do you think about technology with your children? Because that's something that we're talking about a lot.
Starting point is 01:06:01 And we bring our kids with us sometimes at dinner. And like, I don't want them to sit on, not to throw throw shade but i just don't want them sitting there on the but they do sometimes they still think it's good for their their brain i agree and i think like we used to i remember if it was time to go to dinner it'd be like grab the ipad don't forget the ipad and now i'm like no no phones like let. Like, let's not bring, let's have a dinner and actually look at each other and talk. And, you know,
Starting point is 01:06:31 I want to interview the man that wrote the anxious generation. Yes. And I like, I know his rules were saying no technology. What did, what did he say? He said he doesn't, I could be wrong,
Starting point is 01:06:44 but I think he said no technology before 16 in terms of like they can't throw a phone. Yeah, because it changes their brain chemistry. Which is why I'm going to read the book and then talk to him.
Starting point is 01:06:52 I think he said high school, maybe 14, you can have a phone, but then no social media until 16. Something like that. Specifically for girls too.
Starting point is 01:07:00 But we, I mean, because we, Lauren and I did not get, we didn't get smartphones like Apple phones or whatever until we got out of college. By the way, you have a Wildcat. Same.
Starting point is 01:07:12 Nice. Did you go to the same school? Yeah. Oh. Yeah. Fabulous. But anyways, and so we went through that whole time without all that stuff. It wasn't you had to put the album from Facebook
Starting point is 01:07:25 and you'd load every single picture that came on the digital camera. That was a little dicey. But we didn't have all that. I never had Facebook. It came out the year that I got to college and it was like the only way you could sign up was if you had a college email.
Starting point is 01:07:39 Oh, okay. And then everyone would go out and take the digital camera and every shot and they would upload the whole. Now think about people pick one and edit. This whole thing would just be out there take the digital camera and every shot and they would upload the whole. Now think about people that pick one and edit. This whole thing would just be out there on the loose. Wow. Crazy. From the night?
Starting point is 01:07:50 Yeah, I had to scrub. I had to do a deep scrub on the Facebook. Oh my gosh. We didn't have all that. And so I think about it a lot now because our kids are growing up with it. And it could be a tool. But when I go speakers and I will say,
Starting point is 01:08:03 are you a consumer or is it a tool? If you're just a mindless consumer, that could be a tool, but when I go to speakers and I will say, are you a consumer or is it a tool? If you're just a mindless consumer, that could be dangerous. As much as I'd love to hear about your Facebook days, I need to get down to business with some skincare and beauty. Can you guys each answer these questions? Because these are questions from the audience about beauty and skin that we have to ask,
Starting point is 01:08:23 especially on the show. Please. Favorite skincare hack? I especially on the show. Please. Favorite skincare hack. I love Gua Sha. Okay. I'm a big Gua Sha girl. I would say less is more on product. And my daughter makes the greatest masks, like the rice, rice kind of, I don't know what she does, but I do them and she tells me these
Starting point is 01:08:46 are tightening and lifting and they're really good. There's a flaxseed one. That's next endeavor. That's my hack. Okay. Oh, mine's sunscreen, just daily sunscreen. Not fancy, but. Is there a brand? I bought this Japanese brand, and I do not know the name of it, but it goes on so smooth. I'll find the name, but Daily Sunscreen. Okay, you have to text me. I love Jan Marini.
Starting point is 01:09:14 Jan Marini, great brand. Do you guys have AM, PM skincare routines, or is it just not that serious? For me, not that serious. Not that serious. If I do Gua Sha, which I i try i do it in the morning the only difference in the morning is my sunscreen so simple simple and keep it simple when you glam will you do sunscreen or will you do skincare before you glam or do you just go straight to glam? I do my skincare and then I go to glam. And when you ask, if you're asking for glam, like say you're doing this today,
Starting point is 01:09:53 is there specifics that you like? Like, will you be like, I want like a natural glowy look, or are you more like, I want a bunch of eyeshadow? Like, do you have a recipe? I do not. And today, the only thing I said is I've been on tour. I haven't put on makeup once this whole summer because, like I said, keep it easy and simple on tour. And I wouldn't do makeup at all. And so I said, I just don't want to feel like I have crazy amounts of makeup on. So just keep it fresh and light it's pretty it's fresh it's light thank you soft i can't ask you about makeup please
Starting point is 01:10:31 yeah that's fine nighttime skincare routine no like water and like a basic face wash nothing exciting michael should we ask you about your makeup routine because michael had to get a zit covered today for the first time he's ever worn makeup it was I'm in full glam right now it does look like you have full glam when you came in dot right there she's like we're gonna have five people on the podcast if you don't he told me not to tell anyone whoops yeah how'd you do this around a corny one okay one product that you will never leave the house with. Could be like a lip gloss, a wellness thing, something. Listerine strips for me. Mm, that is a fact.
Starting point is 01:11:11 Fact. Listerine strips. Yeah, I have three in either pocket right now. I am ready. Okay. Okay. Well, after that quad latte. Before you go, it says we're doing a what's in my bag. Is that correct?
Starting point is 01:11:22 It is. Okay, can we do a what's in my bag? Sure. Do we have Courtney's bag? I think it's in my bag. Is that correct? It is. Okay. Can we do a what's in my bag? Sure. Do we have Courtney's bag? I think it's in the other room. And I guess also we have a code for you guys. You guys generously gave us a 20% off code for all things Lemmy.
Starting point is 01:11:36 So they can get any product. Any product. Okay. If you're going to start, where are you starting? It depends on your journey. But I would say you could start with sleep. Okay. Because who doesn't?
Starting point is 01:11:48 Even if you don't need it, if you're a good sleeper, if you're traveling, like Lemmy Sleep is so good for jet lag. I like the opposite of what you're going to say. I like Lemmy Focus. That's my favorite. I love Lemmy Focus too. Yeah. I do have to say, I just am a fan of the brand.
Starting point is 01:12:03 You gave me some a long time ago. I think when you guys first launched. And it tastes delicious. This is weird, but the gummies, like, girthy. I don't know if that's the right word. It has a chew. It's not like a
Starting point is 01:12:19 lipstick gummy. It's a meaty gummy. It's a meaty gummy. It feels like it packs a punch. Yeah, by design. Yeah, and I feel like it is a treat. The bottle's beautiful. I love it. I'm a fan. Glow is a great one to start
Starting point is 01:12:34 with. That's a good one for the audience. I think they'll like glow. Yeah. Glow because it's peach. It has a great flavor and it's hair, skin, and nails. Who doesn't want that? You gave me the focus and then our producer Taylor ate all of them Taylor he ate the whole thing they are delicious yeah nobody literally ate the whole thing I was like like in one sitting yeah yeah yeah right I hope you were very focused between his Panda
Starting point is 01:13:02 Express orange chicken and his flaming hot' Hot Cheetos, he ate all the vitamins. Okay, so code skinny for Lemmy. They can go to lemmy.com. Lemmylive.com. Lemmylive.com. We'll link it. And then can we do, I didn't even ask you guys this, but can we do like a giveaway of all Courtney and Simon's favorites? Sure can.
Starting point is 01:13:21 Okay. You guys follow at Lemmy on Instagram and then tell us your favorite part. I'm sure there's a lot of this podcast on my latest post at Lauren Bostic. And do we have what's in her bag? Oh, no, it's her little Balenciaga bag. But we could do that bag too, either one. The tiny little Balenciaga rider bag purse yeah tiny purse that makes me want that bag now with my name on it that's cute
Starting point is 01:13:48 really cute thank you Michael I need matcha in bed apple cider vinegar she's gonna be like Courtney
Starting point is 01:13:55 we sleep with our dog in bed which I feel like is our version of a baby yeah the dog and the dog is right next to me
Starting point is 01:14:02 it's good for your gut we used to do the dogs in bed I'm obsessed with our dogs but now with the kids and the dog is right next to me. It's good for your gut. We used to do the dogs in bed. I'm obsessed with our kids and the dogs. It's a lot relegated to a sliver. When Phil and I have a baby, I'm sure the dog will get the boot. Is a baby in the future? Two years. Two years.
Starting point is 01:14:17 Two years. That's going to be exciting. You're going to be such a good dad. I hope Phil's going to be a great dad. And I think I will will love bomb the child but also not be good with discipline. Should we give a code
Starting point is 01:14:29 for a sniff? Sure. Sure. I think the code is skinning too for a sniff as well. Okay, and what candle should they start with?
Starting point is 01:14:39 I think they should start with half-baked harvest since it's Courtney's favorite. Or Christmas. Or the holiday candle which comes out in like two weeks. Oh. Hey guys, this isn't so I could have obviously curated a What's in My Bag
Starting point is 01:14:54 but I didn't. We like a real. I'm going to show you for real What's in My Bag. And this is just my purse that lives in my car all the time. And so when I go somewhere, there's a phone charger. Okay. There is a lip gloss, You Beauty, and a skin lip liner.
Starting point is 01:15:18 We need to know the colors. I'm sorry. I have to know the colors. And I don't even know what they are. So let's see. This is Skin by Kim Lip Liner Nude 6. Okay. This You Beauty Plasma Lip Compound.
Starting point is 01:15:34 I don't think it says a color, but it's a peachy, peachy. Okay. Then I have a bracelet that I took off. And actually, someone made me this, and it has all my kids' birthstones and me and my husband. So all seven kids and me and my husband's, and I thought it was so thoughtful. That is so cute. And then my wallet, which has all my credit cards, a little cash, my driver's license. And Simon must have stuck this in there. Do they have those?
Starting point is 01:16:12 Like the little samples like that? Or is that a sample? How did this get in there? Don't hard sell it too much. I did stick it in there because we're on the show to talk about it. Let me purr vaginal probiotic gummies that's us wait what the hell is this yeah we know but men can take them and you can explain well it's a probiotic so it will take
Starting point is 01:16:39 care of it might help your premature ejaculation yeah it's going to help everything you're going to be all set you You'll be purring. You'll be fine. He's talked about that on the show. Do you want to say what this? Well, this is yeah, this is the, you know, the Lemme Purr to balance your vaginal microbiome. Why don't you put the sizes? Oh, this is a sample pack.
Starting point is 01:16:59 Sample pack. Yeah, yeah. For three days. What's in your pocket? You can pull it out, Simon. Let's do it. What's in your pocket? The only thing I already took it out when you guys were chatting.
Starting point is 01:17:05 It's my list of dreams. Oh, I thought you were going to put all the gummies Oh, I would have put this in there. Let me GLP one daily. Are you kidding? No, I would have. I did sneak that.
Starting point is 01:17:14 I will. I did sneak that into her purse. I'm sure everyone knows where to find both of you, but pimp yourself out. Tell us where everyone can follow the code for Sniff and Lemme.

Starting point is 01:18:57 ever done. It's so good and so cold and seriously tightens your skin. Lemmy Ice at shopskinnyconfidential.com. Enjoy.
