Starting point is 00:00:01 Welcome to the Bostics, starring Lauren Bostic and Michael Bostick. Together, they are the Bostics. I am doing a little episode on what is currently in rotation. These are things that not only I'm loving, but they're things that I keep coming back to over and over again. And I haven't done this in a hot minute, so I thought that this would be like a proper catch-up to get you all up. dated on things that I just keep coming back to. Okay. We're going to kick that off with Brazilian
Starting point is 00:00:42 lymphatic drainage. It has to be Brazilian lymphatic. Okay. There is a technique that is just different. I have tried lymphatic drainage in Hong Kong. I've tried it in America. I've tried it in France. I've tried it in so many different places. And the Brazilians just know what's up with lymphatic drainage. So I have a girl who I have seen forever. You guys can follow her Instagram and she'll give you all the tricks of the trade. And her name is Josie. She's actually been on the show before. And in my opinion, she is the creme della crem of lymphatic drainage. So initially when I started to kick this back up into gear, I went in for some body sculpting. You know this if you follow me on Instagram stories and to get my boobs done post-nursing. The boobs post-nursing,
Starting point is 00:01:32 were looking like socks, okay? It was not the vibe, okay? I want to feel hot. I'm a mom of three. I have been pregnant, obviously three times. I've gained 50 to 60 pounds every single time. So I went and did something for myself and it was a home run. I got to tell you, they're looking like a masterpiece from socks to masterpiece. I went with Motiva implants just as a and apparently they're supposed to be better than regular implants. They just got approved by the FDA. Obviously, go do your own research on this. I did mine. But that's how I got hooked on Brazilian lymphatic again. So I already had had a whole moment with it where I was doing it all the time, probably once a month. And then I just sort of stopped and now I'm back on it. Okay? And I'm doing it
Starting point is 00:02:27 as much as I can. I bought a massage table and I have a setup in my office where I'll take calls and get Brazilian lymphatic. It's magical. I think it depuffs you. It makes you feel tighter, less bloated. I think it's really great if you've had any kind of procedure because it helps with skin. If you have experienced stretch marks during pregnancy, it's great for that. I think it's good for scars.
Starting point is 00:02:52 I really think it does it all. And so much so that I was talking with Josie, who's incredible. And I said, why don't Americans do this more often? And she says, she can't believe. that it's not a thing here like it is in Brazil. In Brazil, the women are going in once a week for their weekly lymphatic. So it just has a lot of benefits too for circulation and immunity. It's incredible. Again, go look into it. But if you have someone who can do the Brazilian lymphatic technique on you, it is a 10 out of 10. I love it. I literally feel like I lose 10 pounds of water weight after I do it.
Starting point is 00:03:29 So I will be doing that before any trip that I go on and I'm going to try to stick with it once a month for all of the other magical benefits. Which brings me to my next thing that this is weird. Let me tell you about tongue posture. This has become something that's so interesting to me. The way you place your tongue in your mouth matters. And I had a myo functional therapist on the show and someone who specializes in this who's a child's pediatrician. doctor-denist, and she was saying that you want your tongue to be on the top of your mouth. Emily's like, what? You want your tongue to be on the top of your mouth, not pressing up super
Starting point is 00:04:11 hard on the palate, but almost like a magnet clicking in. So if you want to do that with me right now, you just put your tongue, you relax it, and you press it up. And that's where your tongue should be resting at all times. Okay. So I found this out. And, And funny enough, mouth taping has really helped me with this because when I tape my mouth shut every night with the skinny confidential mouth tape, do not miss a night in Navy right now. The Navy one is the one. I have been practicing while mouth taping where I'm placing my tongue. And it sounds almost stupid to say tongue posture, but look into it, you guys. Better sleep.
Starting point is 00:04:54 You're going to have better facial alignment. it, swear to God, go look it up. Airway support. And it's going to naturally widen your palate, which you want to just breathe better in general. So I actually have my kids, all three of them. I know that sounds crazy working with a myofunctional therapist. They're so amazing, like 10 out of 10. And one of the main things they're working on is tongue posture, where you place your tongue, and it affects your entire body. So I've become fascinated with this subject. And when I become, fascinated with such a niche subject like this, I really dive in. So I've bought all the books on it. I've been reading about it. I want to interview an expert on it. And I think it's a really
Starting point is 00:05:38 smart thing to look into if you feel like your tongue is almost slacking in your mouth. If your tongue is not on your palate right now, look into it. It's really kind of cool. Okay. Next, chicken. I know I do beef bowls. Everyone knows this. I love a beef bowl. I'm a huge steak fanatic. I love a grass-fed, grass-finished steak. I do it a lot. My baby eats like the bone. He'll take the bone and eat it, which is also really good for your facial structure to take a bone and chew it. I swear that's a tip from the myo-functional doctor. She said take a bone for your baby and let him chew on it. He also could chew on a pineapple rind or a watermelon rind. She literally said to let him chew on it. That's like a side note. Anyway, I was told by Sandy Brockman,
Starting point is 00:06:27 and my trainer that I also need to incorporate chicken for protein. So I've been doing chicken, which is really fucking boring. It's really boring. You know, it's plain Jane, Sarah, plain and tall. But I put green salsa on it. I get it from Moose Farms at the farmer's market. It's so good. I put it all over my eggs too.
Starting point is 00:06:50 But this green sauce with chicken and a little sour cream and some hot sauce, I mean, truly, it's so good. Try it. You just need a good green salsa, some chicken, hot sauce, sour cream, and you've got all your protein. That's a full meal. So I'm doing chicken too, which is new for me. Okay? That's been in rotation. The next thing is, has everyone tried this and I'm last to the party, but paint by numbers? Okay? I just got paint by numbers and I got one for Michael and one for my two kids and we, did it this weekend and we put on classical music and we did a painting session and my kids were like so well behaved for 45 minutes. It was a great distraction. It was fun. We used our hands. We used our brain. And basically you get this really extravagant picture of like a lemon bowl and you have to paint by numbers and it teaches you how to sort of like fake being an artist. I loved it. Highly recommend. My daughter completely. like ripped it in half and did her own interpretation of it, which is fun. I told her art's supposed to be
Starting point is 00:08:01 fun. She can do whatever she wants. She can be creative. Or you can do what Michael and I did, which is actually like paint in the lines, which was fun too. But when you're done, you have this beautiful painting. So that's fun. The next thing that I am all about is tailoring. A good tailor can change your life. I believe this. If you have a pair of jeans, a pair of slacks, a blouse, and you just tailor it a little bit to your body, it can make such a difference. It makes it look more expensive. And if you can find a great tailor, it's a total upgrade to your wardrobe. So I've been working with a tailor here in Austin and she comes and she just does a little bit of a cinch here and there. And I just think it makes my clothes look so much better. Now, I did just have a situation where I
Starting point is 00:08:48 didn't have a tailor and I could tell an immediate difference. So I think a tailor is worth investing in, especially if you have clothes that you wear all the time, like a capsule wardrobe or you have classics. I think it's something that really elevates everything that you're doing. My sister Mimi, she works in our office. She gets Levi's and she tailors them perfect to her body, which makes so much sense because her ass looks so good in these Levi jeans. And I think that's a great idea.
Starting point is 00:09:15 Go get some vintage jeans and tailor them to your body. I would rather do that than buy a super expensive pair of jeans. I would rather get a $50 gene and tailor it to my body than go by $300 jeans. I think it makes a world of difference. Okay, moving right along. I know that I've told you guys multiple times about red light. There's red light all upstairs in our house. So we do not turn on a light bulb upstairs.
Starting point is 00:09:42 There is not a light that gets turned on. Seriously, that is the way I get my children to get into bed at 7.30. So what I do is I turn off all the lights upstairs. They're already off. And then I have a red light by my bed. And then I have these little he lights around the house. So we are essentially in the olden times functioning by candlelight at night. Like there's no light. If I turn on lights, it signals to my kids that it's time to wake up so we don't go there. But what else I've been doing? And I think this is a great tip for moms or dads is I have salt rock night lights plugged in. to all the different rooms. I found them in white so you like can't see them. They blend in. And we take a shower by salt rock. We take a bath by salt rock. And supposedly it gives off really positive ions into the air. So it's like good for you too. And it does something to your circadian rhythm where you feel like you can wind down. So I'll put on a little 5 to 8 hertz, maybe some 9, 6, 3. I'm really into 9. 6.3 hurts right now. I'll put that on. I'll put the red light on. I'll put the salt rock nightlights on.
Starting point is 00:10:55 And it's like a spa in my house. And everyone calms down immediately. It's almost like a rest. And I did this in the baby's room too. The baby has red light in his room. He has a salt rock nightlight in his bathroom. You can't expect your kids to want to wind down or get in bed at 8 o'clock. If you don't, in my opinion, set the tone of the home. If there's bright lights overhead, your kids are naturally going to want to be awake. I mean, I don't blame them. So for us, there's no blue light, there's no phone, there's no overhead lighting, and I just think it's changed our sleep game. So I got my salt rock nightlights on Amazon. They also have like a lamp that's a salt rock. I just don't love how it looks. So, I got my salt rock. So,
Starting point is 00:11:45 So I would go with the nightlight if I were you. And there's something that feels so zen about it. And like I said, they're all over every bathroom. It just winds everybody down. Okay. The ruthless elimination of hurry. That is a great book if you've not read that. I bought it and just fell in love with the concept of this.
Starting point is 00:12:07 So I really don't think hurry is sexy. And this is something that I've been working at for a long, time because my schedule is hurried when I'm working. I put a lot of intention in being a mother. And so when I'm home, I try to be home and present. I don't nail it all the time. But when I'm working, I'm in it. And that means sometimes that I am, you know, really, really in a hurry. I like this concept because I've realized that it's not productive to be in a hurry. And like I said, it's not sexy, I would rather eliminate things, things like random obligations or saying yes to things that are draining or constant stimulation and protect the things that matter to me. So that's family,
Starting point is 00:13:01 that's family dinner, that's reading, that's writing, that's workouts, being present and having white space in my calendar, honestly. So with the book, I just learned that the biggest flex is not being busy. It's not being in such a hurry. It's building a life that feels good to you and not being rushed around. So I am in this moment right now where I don't equate success to adding more. I actually equate success to protecting what matters to me and doubling down on what matters to me. So whether that's putting my energy into building the product line or into our show or new fresh ideas that pertain to those two things. That's where I want to put my energy. I don't want to put it into doing a lot and not doing it well. I feel like I was getting to a point where I was doing too much and it was good.
Starting point is 00:13:55 And I'm the type of person that I want to push myself to be exceptional. So that means doing less and doing less in a hurry. And you know, I've talked to my assistant who's amazing, my executive assistant, Katie, about this. And we've just realized that I would rather have buffer time around everything than being slammed to the brim. And I also have a unicorn assistant on chat GPT. And my unicorn assistant knows this. So whenever I feed my unicorn assistant the schedule, it brings me back down to reality and says, hey, if you don't want to be in a hurry and you don't want to be late, here's the buffer times around that. Hey, you need to eat lunch and don't be on calls while you're eating lunch. So to me, we're doing less, not more, and we're doing less
Starting point is 00:14:43 exceptionally, we're doing it well. We're not just going to be good. That's where I'm at with that. And I think that book is a really good one if you're used to being a chaotic person who's running around like a chicken with their head cut off. That's not the way I want to live. And so I think I have a lot of intention now around being rushed or being hurried. Okay. So we're eliminating hurry. That's the point. Which brings me to my next point. I just invested in a new company and I'm an advice. to a company called the 90. And what it is is it's this really pretty chic piece of jewelry. It's simple. It's a little circle. It has a gold chain around it. And what it does is it tells you when you've gotten enough sun exposure and vitamin D for the day. So it helps guide you through the day to make sure
Starting point is 00:15:31 that you're in the sun, but just enough. I wrote a book, as you guys know, called Get the Fuck Out of the Sun. And what that book was about was preventative beauty about using the sun strategically. So I I typically was using my phone to measure the UV outside. And so I would take walks and go outside when the UV was low. And when this company came to me, they like solved that problem. They were like, we're going to give you this necklace that you can wear and you can track when it's good to go out in the sun, when the sun is too harsh, and when your vitamin D level has been met.
Starting point is 00:16:08 And I was like, sign me up. So anyways, I've been wearing this necklace. I'm loving it. It's a tech product. You wear it around your neck. I showed it to you guys on my stories. And anytime I go on vacation, I no longer have to be a psycho about the sun. I can wear my long sleeve bathing suit, which I always wear a huge hat.
Starting point is 00:16:29 But I can also wear this product, this little necklace, and it can help me have strategy around the sun. Stacey Christie, by the way, my esthetician in San Diego would be so proud of this. So I hope she's listening because she does not want the hyperpigmentation on my face to come back. We finally got it under control with microneedling and the right products. Right. Let's talk about the mornings. I have realized about my routine. Everyone thinks I'm so disciplined and regimented in the morning. And the truth is, I feel like what I've done is I've made my routine like a habit.
Starting point is 00:17:10 so it doesn't feel overwhelming. And I think when people get overwhelmed with their morning or nighttime routine, it's because they haven't made it feel like a habit. They're doing too many things and it's going like it's almost stressing you out. What I've done with mine lately is it just feels like I'm habit stacking. And so the first thing I do when I wake up is I have water. Obviously, who doesn't? You got to water your body. I tell my kids this. You got to water your body like a plant. And then I have this concoction that I'm really passionate about. Okay? So what I do is I mix loom fiber.
Starting point is 00:17:47 Is it loom, Emily? Lome, I don't know how to pronounce it, but I put two packets. That's 20 grams of fiber, you guys, in my water. And then I mix it with the skinny confidential beauty salt, which is electrolytes, colostrum, and pearl powder. That is an efficient mixture right there. But here's the deal. I add a splash of grape. fruit. You could also do like lemonade. I just do a splash and then I do a hydrogen tablet and then I do
Starting point is 00:18:14 some Kempton minerals and we will leave this exact mix for you in the show notes. So you're all set. But you've got to froth it up and I froth that up and right there I've gotten vitamins, electrolytes. I've got a little lemon. I'll squeeze some lemon in there. I've gotten hydrogen and I have colostrum. I mean, it's a really great mix. And then you get a all that fiber, which is like, that's getting things going before you start your day, okay? So I do that drink and I do the same thing every morning and all the products are lined up next to each other so I can grab and go. I froth it up, I drink it down. Then I do a separate drink of protein or I do bone broth. So my thing is, is I really want to get protein now before my coffee. Okay. So the
Starting point is 00:19:03 protein that I use, if I'm going to use protein, I have two different ones. The first one, Ballerina Farms, her vanilla. It's so good. Two scoops. I feel like it's 40 grams of protein, which is amazing. Frothed up in water, drink it down. Or you guys know I'll do the chocolate bone broth protein by Paleo Valley. Again, we'll link it. But you got to froth it. And I do two scoops of that. And I give my kids some and say, do you want chocolate water or vanilla water? And they're thrilled. And then I have my coffee. So before coffee, I've already had all of these different things, fiber, minerals, electrolytes, and protein. And it just starts the day off on such an amazing foot. And this really is something that I have nailed down to three minutes.
Starting point is 00:19:48 You have three minutes for yourself. Everyone has three minutes. If you put all this stuff next to each other in a drawer and make it easy, make it simple, it becomes a habit. I will not touch coffee without having my two drink concoctions. So that's what I'm doing right now. It's really working. you know for coffee. I drink a full fat, raw milk, cappuccino. I now put it in a martini shaker and shake it with ice and a little bit of the milk and pour it in my coffee cup. And it is a delight. Let me tell you, it's so good. That martini shaker, if you shake it really hard and you shake it like you've never shaken anything before with a bunch of ice, it is frothy, delicious. It's a treat. I look forward to my coffee. If I'm at home, I do a huge mug, a Lisa Renna mug. And if I'm going to the
Starting point is 00:20:41 gym, I do a beautiful, like, coffee cup that fits in a coffee cup holder because we've had too many coffee spills in the car. So that's what I'm doing in the morning. And I love it. And then you know after that the rest of the day, all day long, it's mango aminos. You know this with a scoop of creatine. Mango aminos all day long. I think that that is something that has helped grow my hair like no other. What's next? Should we talk about how I got my blood work done and what I was low on? I got my blood work done. I am low on ferretin. I think that's how you pronounce it, which is so crazy because my hair has never been so long, but my ferretin is low. When your ferretin's low, go get yours tested. It has to do with iron, I feel like, and that makes your hair not as thick.
Starting point is 00:21:31 So we had an amazing episode. You have to go listen with a tricologist who's a scalp expert, Dr. William. And he said if the ferretin's low, you got to get it up. And when I do get it up, my hair will be 50% thicker. So I am saying this live on this episode. I expect my hair to be 50% thicker in six months. I'm taking this every day. And here's the thing about ferretin, apparently. You got to take it at the right time during the day, I guess, because if you take it next to magnesium or B vitamin or coffee, it fucks it up. So go look and, like everyone should go get their blood tested if they're a girl and they want more hair for their ferretin levels. Okay. For my workout, since we just got to there, you already know what I'm doing. I'm doing weights. I am lifting heavy, heavy weights. I am so
Starting point is 00:22:23 passionate about encouraging women to lift heavy. It has changed my life. You guys know this. I've said it a thousand times. My body composition has shrunk because of heavy lifting. And I lift heavy. Okay. You know I'm so passionate about this. I did Lauren Bostic for P-Volve. We did heavy, heavy weights in that kit. When you order that kit, you're going to be like, wow, this is the full workout setup for my house. It's ready to go. It's in French blue. It's so cute. And it's heavy weights. So that includes working with my trainer. It includes P-Volve, which I'll do at home on my mat. Sometimes I do it in my office. I have a setup here too. And it includes Pilates. And when I do do Pilates, she knows I want to lift heavy. I am loving weights. I'm so passionate about it.
Starting point is 00:23:10 It does not make you bulky. I know there's like rumors around that. If you want to shrink your body composition, look to heavy weights. Okay. Quick break to talk about branch basics. Hey moms and dad's real talk. Most of us grew up thinking all cleaning products were safe. But the truth is, Most conventional cleaners are full of harsh chemicals that can cause a host of health problems, from eye and skin irritation to disrupting our hormones and more. And these days, with all the greenwashing and claims of products being clean or natural, it can be hard to figure out what's actually safe. We've loved this company ever since we met the founders on this show.
Starting point is 00:23:43 They take the guesswork out of finding safe cleaning products because they are completely transparent about what goes into each product. Everything they make is plant and mineral base, fragrance-free, and most importantly, human-safe. They've even earned a made-safe certification, which means independent scientists, screened every single ingredient to verify this. So you can really trust what you're bringing into your home. And here's the exciting part if you've been on the fence. Branch Basics is now available nationwide at Target. Head to VeracityHealth.com and use Code Skinny for up to 65% off your order. Once again, that's V-E-R-A, C-I-T-Y-Health.co for up to 65% off. And make sure you use our promo code Skinny so they know we sent you. I spend half my life reading. You guys know this. I feel like it's something that is a non-negotiable for me.
Starting point is 00:28:54 It makes me happy. It's kind of like an anchor for me. I feel like when I've had a crazy day at work or maybe I am exhausted or I don't know, I just feel like I need a place to stabilize and get my nervous system regulated, I look to reading. And I think that if you don't like reading, it's. because you haven't read books you like. So I would encourage you to not give up at reading. I get so many questions about how I have time to read or where to start. And my advice is if you pick up a book and you're 30 pages in and you are not loving that book and there are not takeaways in that book,
Starting point is 00:29:35 put it down and move on to the next book. You don't have to read the whole book just to feel like, oh, I committed to this book so I need to finish it. If I don't like the writing, if the writing is too elementary, if I'm bored. I'll put the book down. I'm not attached to the book. So that's my tip on that. Okay, let's pull up what I'm reading. Hold on. What do you mean with reading? Great question, Emily. We got to get this girl, Mike. I habit stack my reading. So every night I'm reading for about an hour. On the weekends, I wake up and read if I wake up before my children and I don't meditate, I'll read. but the main time I read is every single night and how do I do that? The phone is not in my room. It doesn't go near my room. So there's no, there's no option to watch a show. We don't have a TV in our room. There's no option other than to read. I just got a Kindle stand, which we have to link. The Kindle stands next to my bed and holds my Kindle. And I have a page turner that I sit in bed like a crotchety old woman turning the page. So that's been great. I also have a red light booklight. So if I'm reading a hard book, I'll use my Red Light book. And the routine is, is that I turn on, we have a PEMF mat in our room.
Starting point is 00:30:48 I turn that on and I'll start reading down there and then I'll move to my bed. Last night I feel like I read for, I don't know, an hour and a half. I really get a lot done in that time. My kids are asleep, usually in bed with me. And it's just like very calming to do. Right now I'm reading Jane Green's book called Rewild. it's really good. If you like Glennon Doyle's Untamed, you'll love this book.
Starting point is 00:31:16 If you liked strangers, Bell Burden wrote Strangers. Great book. If you liked strangers and you liked Untamed, you will love Rewild. Go read it. It's about a woman who's a famous author. She's going through a divorce. Anyways, those are three that you should read right now. Let me pull up my Kindle so I can find the other three.
Starting point is 00:31:34 By the way, as I'm finding this, I cannot drink wine anymore or champagne. I had two and a half glasses of rosé last night and I am hung over. Like what's going on? Is this my age? Is it because it's not organic wine? I just can't do it anymore. I don't feel good. Okay, what am I reading lately? And yes, that is correct.
Starting point is 00:31:58 After two and a half glasses of wine, I was reading. You heard it right. I feel bad about my neck. I'm reading. Oh, I finished fame. by Lena Dunham, go get fam sick. That woman knows how to write. So it's hard for me. This is what's hard for me. Can anyone empathize with this? It's hard for me when I read a book that is so well written like her book. And you can tell she is so magnificent at her craft of writing. It's hard to
Starting point is 00:32:32 then go read a book that's not at that level. Like I want to continue that kind of writing. And it makes me want to be a better writer. So that book was really inspired. buying for so many different reasons. I feel like she took a lot of time off and then she came back with that book and I was just like, wow. So which made me go back to her other book called Not That Girl. That's another book that I just got. I'm in the middle of that. I also love an old thrifted book. So I'll go on thrift books and find a book from like the 70s. So I just found this book called Having It All. And it's so dated and so amazing in so many different ways. And then there's other book called It takes money, honey, reading that.
Starting point is 00:33:13 I'm reading The Power of Awakening in the Morning. I love starting my day with something that's really uplifting. Dr. Wayne Dyer has been that for me. He is so, he was so in tune spiritually. And I love waking up to his audiobook or to his hardcover book. I'm really, really into his content right now. I cannot stop listening. He's written so many amazing books.
Starting point is 00:33:39 and his audio in the morning is so refreshing. I cannot even tell you. Another one, my travels with Mrs. Kennedy, obsessed. That's a must read. And then I did read Christina Applegate's book, You with the Sad Eyes, which is, it's sad, but it's really good. And you can tell she's being very candid. And sometimes when you read a celebrity memoir, it's not like that. Another one that is a must read is Jamie Lynn Sigler. She was in the Sopranos and she opens up about her journey with MS. That one I couldn't put down. And here's another thing that I do that I think is really helpful. When I read these books, I use the Kindle to, it's like a highlight feature. You can highlight blurbs or things that inspire you. And after I'm done with the book, I send them to myself and
Starting point is 00:34:29 print out the highlights. So if I want to go back and reference what I liked about the book or be inspired again, I can just see it on one sheet of paper. So a really great one that I highlighted the shit out of was Elena Cardone's book. And I have that on my desk with all her highlights. And it's so helpful to be able to do that. And if you don't have a Kindle, what you can do is I just grab like a highlighter, have it by my bed and I just highlight a hardcover book. But I guess my point here is I think literacy is so important as we get into this chat, GBT, or I think it's really fun to still be able to read. And to me, it's my favorite hobby and I'm so passionate about bringing reading to more people because, you know, some people, they have a relationship where they're like, I don't want to
Starting point is 00:35:20 read because it reminds me of school. And I understand that, but reading can be so fun. And what I'm trying to do with my kids and I don't know if this helps any of the moms out there, but I'm trying to read to them every single night. And I'm trying to make it fun. I'll let them each pick a book and we'll read a book over and over and over that they really like and then we'll mix it up. And I'll read them poems from Shell Silverstein. As any of you guys remember where the sidewalk ends, or are you too young? Stuff like that. I just try to get them really excited about reading. And I think that that's worked well. And when they see Michael and I on our Kindle, we're always telling them, mommy and daddy read on this device. So they know we're not like looking at a phone
Starting point is 00:36:01 or looking at a show. They know that that's our book. So giving context to that is important as well. And my last tip, if you want to get into reading and you don't have a Kendall, I would get one because that makes it easy if you wake up in the middle of the night and your partner's sleeping. You can just turn it on and read a little bit. Mine's on dark mode with the lowest brightness, so it doesn't strain your eyes. Quick break to talk about kettle and fire. Here's what nobody tells you. tells you about the food in your kitchen. Even if you're buying organic, even if you're reading labels, there's one ingredient in almost everything you cook, and it's one of the most heavily
Starting point is 00:36:36 processed things in your entire diet, and that's the oils. We've learned so much about oils and all of the harmful ingredients that many of these oils contain, and it's causing a ton of harm and wreaking a ton of havoc when it comes to our health and wellness. Because even if we have the cleanest organic this and the grass fed that, what we cook with might be the biggest blind spot in our kitchen. We started paying attention to food labels. years ago and I thought we were doing everything right. Then someone started talking about the question we couldn't answer. What are we cooking with? What's in our cooking oil? And you know what? We had a bad answer. It was stuff that was highly processed. It wasn't good for us. All the things
Starting point is 00:37:09 that we've learned ever since. That's what we were doing. That's what many people are doing. This is why we love kettle and fire so much. Kettle and Fires beef tallow is simply incredible and it's basically become the only thing that we cook with. It's the simplest cooking fat you can get. Starting point is 00:43:01 I like my skin to look like wet, a little bit wet. Moist. I don't know what the right word is. I like it to look like a glossy apple. And how I do that is I do a whole skin care routine in the morning with facial massage, which you guys have seen all over Instagram stories. But I also pick a good sunscreen to finish the look because what I've noticed is if you don't have a sunscreen that is that pretty dewy finish that you like over your skincare, it almost looks matte, which I find to be more aging. So you have to pick the right sunscreen. and the sunscreen that I keep going back to over and over is caffeinated.
Starting point is 00:43:46 That's why I created it to be caffeinated. And it's the one from the skinny confidential. And here's how I use it because I've had questions on this on my stories. I take a damp beauty blender. I get it wet. And I put it in a little protector case if I'm running in the car. And then I'll put the sunscreen, the caffeinated sunscreen on the beauty blender and tap it around my face. And the caffeine gives you this really pretty nice.
Starting point is 00:44:11 glowy tint and it doesn't this is weird it doesn't make your skincare look matte i don't like that matte look so if you're going through the trouble of getting this really pretty dewy glow with skincare and then you put on a sunscreen that matt's the face check out caffeinated sunscreen okay that's my tip of tips it's on the skinny confidential it's the best sunscreen for summer i love it on my skin so nice and it tightens the skin with the caffeine and then last but not least i went back to school I don't mean to brag. I got accepted to Harvard as a C-plus student. And Michael and I went off and took a course and graduated. We have a diploma in our office, Carson, can you believe it? We are Harvard graduates. And we took a course together. We went to Boston. And it was absolutely amazing. And I think my message here is to always keep learning because I learned so much from this incredible teacher named Aniore. on business and media. You know, I've always known how to build a business around being a public-facing figure,
Starting point is 00:45:18 but to build a business, like a real substantial business that has longevity. She taught me a lot of really incredible things. And I would say that if you're at any age to always keep learning, that could mean learning a new language, that could mean going back to my reading point, it could mean just listening to podcasts that add value to your life. so important to keep challenging yourself and be uncomfortable. And I'm saying this because it's something I also have to remind myself to. Keep pushing yourself and challenging yourself. That's my current rotation list. We will organize everything for you in the show notes.
Starting point is 00:46:02 I am going to be on the mic more. You're going to see a lot of me this year. We have some stuff in store for you. So you're going to see me or me and Michael on a mic a lot. We are really wanting to share a lot of the things that we have learned on air and off air and in our Harvard course and through books and things that, you know, we haven't been able to open up about. Like, even our marriage, how we think about raising kids. This new era for our show, the Bostics, is really not just about guests, but it's about how we live. And so you will see our faces front and center. And we're going to get Carson and Emily Mike's so they can contribute. And that is that. That's currently in rotation. Also, last thing, we have video on Spotify. Now, you can watch us on Spotify,
Starting point is 00:47:00 on video. It's all set up. It's organized. It's ready to go. So watch us there. And then if you guys have comments or you have things that you really want us to talk about, you can comment and we can go read it. And that's a wrap on today.
