Hey folks, welcome to the sloppy boys where we take a deep dive into the drinks that you love.
I'm Jeff Dutton along with Mike Hanford.
Hello.
And Tim Calpacus.
What are you up?
Oh, and we're your host of Sloppy Boys.
And a special shout-out to all the new listeners.
We're seeing that big bump.
Welcome.
That is nice to see that bump.
If you don't understand what's happening here, just ask around.
Just ask anyone.
Just throw your shutters open.
You there.
You there, boy.
Yes.
What's happening?
What podcast do you look?
listening to Smartless, sir.
No boy. Listen to the sloppy boys, boy.
Not you.
The other boy.
The cool boy.
It bases me off just like how many little kids, especially kids out on the street,
like they all just listen to Smartless and they like love.
I know.
You know, like, I want to be like Jason Bateman.
I want to be Sean Hayes.
What are you kids getting out of this?
These are adults talking about Hollywood and they're Hollywood friends.
Getting out of it.
I'm the will of my friend group, the Will Arnette.
No, no, you're the Tim.
You're the Tim.
Oh, hey, and a special shout out to all of our fucking rider died day one listeners.
Oh, yeah.
Nice to see you back.
Who do you like better?
The rider dies that have supported us from the beginning or the kind of people just jump it on the bandwagon.
Bandwagon.
Yeah.
In this very moment, the bandwagon, people.
I love those people.
I agree.
But we'll still never forget about those day ones.
Oh, yeah.
Keep them close to our heart, but...
Hey, you never forget your first.
If my calendar calculations are correct,
my stand-up special should be on YouTube right now.
Oh, Michael.
You boys seen?
Mike, that's a whole new bump, a whole new bandwagon.
A whole new bump.
It just came out last night on YouTube, folks.
Check it out.
great. It is great. It's so funny. Mike, do you think we have room for even more fans, though,
is the issue? I spoke to a hard driveologist, and I said, can we hook our Patreon subscriber bin up to a
mega terabyte? And he said, of course, of course you can. Yes. Yeah, we're going to need a new
IP address, at least a new firewall. Yeah, because the one we have now is IP freely, and it's like,
doesn't really look so great.
All right, do we get into some booze news?
Bibbib, Bip, Bib, Boo's news hit it.
I love that I could fade to you're,
you know, every time you're someone who's trying to search for word,
you try to help them out and finish more.
You have the, to be wrong, the worst batting average on that.
You know when you're a kid, grade school gets out like,
it's like mid-June.
Oh, okay.
What do you do?
Like three.
You know, it's because some people love putting the butter in their coffee.
What do you call it?
Bulletproof coffee?
Oh, no.
Bulletproof?
I did that with...
Bulletproof?
The birthday plays golf sketch.
No.
Or there's a sexy lady going up to a sexy guy.
But it's like...
What happens next is up to you?
No, that's a...
That's a guy for Kelm in TGI Friday.
Oh.
Tim, you like to put on ice cream?
Tennessee.
He's a rono.
Garden party with edible flowers?
I don't know.
It seemed like there was a lot of like vegetable-y stuff.
Like it was possibly, it was like this.
Hold on.
We haven't done the goddamn drink.
Would you shut off?
I thought you were trying to place a drink.
I'm trying to place you off this podcast.
Jefferson Dunn has been placed off of the podcast.
Dutz doesn't know was sent to us by Ad Beyerley.
And if you have a booze news theme, email it to the sloppy boys podcast.
at gmail.com.
I didn't appreciate that.
Please don't send in any more
pod themes.
You've been stricken
from the guest list of the pod things.
Because normally, normally I'm like,
oh, oh, I actually like that one.
Keep that, keep it coming.
A-O. Who's A-O?
O-N-A.
O-N-A.
O-N-A.
You know, Kanger, keep sending them in.
Not you, you new guy.
That was an unfortunate,
you know, Jeff,
I took a big leap there
and I had to call you out on that.
But I will say, I don't feel like that's a problem for you anymore and me.
It's because I listen.
Have you tried to crack down on doing it?
No.
You're just getting them right.
Just getting luckier, I guess.
Rolling the night every day.
You've now known us even longer.
I mean, we knew it was longer before that, but you know us even longer.
Now you know what we're going to say.
I get to know my boys.
And that's just part of life.
I think
not that I'm
I mean I'm maybe a little more
quote unquote anxious on pod
than in normal conversation
but I do think it's like
it's like an anxiety thing
trying to to do that
yeah but it's also like it's not coming from
like social anxiety it's like
as a producer of a podcast
you're trying to help the person talk so the podcast can move on
because it's bad podcast and to sit around going
yeah what's that
that's probably good
There's a sort of keyed up energy of pod.
And sometimes you don't have it.
On the blowout, for example, is laid back.
Oh, yeah.
You don't need it.
It's a nice, relaxed sort of.
But that's the Wednesday show.
That's not this show.
No.
So when you say you're talking about the sloppy boys blowout, that's like a whole different show.
It comes out every Wednesday on patreon.com slash the sloppy ways.
This week we talked about the movie obsession because it's Halloween time and we're talking about scary movies.
and stuff like that.
To you me and Mike, this is the same host, but it's laid back.
And we're talking about obsession this week.
Yep.
I feel like listeners to this main pod who don't subscribe with that, you got a taste of what the blowout is like recently when we did our box wine episode and we forgot to record it.
And then we had to start recording.
We were already drunk.
I felt like that was a pretty laid back episode.
Yeah.
That's a nice.
That's when you get, there's a lot of fun happening back behind the paywall.
It's like, hey, you know, who knows what's going to have?
Who knows who's going to have?
show up after a few drinks on this pot.
Yeah. And, you know, they got a taste with the franzia, but it's not enough, is it?
No.
No, no, no, no, no.
It's just enough to drive you mad.
Quite mad with curiosity.
Oh, you know what?
Have you heard the new Charlie and Madonna song?
No.
There's a new Charlie and Madonna song.
Did they do it at the VMAs?
Tim, they're doing it all over town, all over the, all over the media.
All over your aisle.
But it has a little bit of that when you said.
like it'll drive you mad.
It has a little bit of that West End girls
called the police.
There's a madman around.
It's sort of like one of those.
You know,
it's a sort of sort of snide little UK jam.
I'm going to start.
It sounds like jizz in my pants.
It sounds like jizz in my pants.
I feel like going mad is almost more dignified.
Like next time I feel like I've been a patch where I have like depression.
I'm just going to tell people I've gone mad.
He's going mad.
Oh, he's mad at home.
He's absolutely mad.
He's cracking mad.
He's gone mental.
He's mental.
I'll just say, oh, the little, uh, the men in white suits went to take him away.
Yes, Tim, come with these men.
They're very nice.
I went to Bellevue Hospital and I asked the doctors around there.
I said, have you seen, what do most patients here?
What are they suffering from lately?
And they said, it's main feed sloppy boys subscribers that don't follow the
blow out so they're going mad.
Mad with curiosity of what's happening.
The frenzy episode drove them mad.
We're packing the institutions full.
Yes.
Oh, God.
This is not good.
Folks, help us help you.
You guys ready for the booze news?
Yeah, I hit him with it.
Please.
Everyone's going bananas.
That's right, guys.
I just read an eater article called New York City bars are going bananas for banana
cocktails.
We're seeing a whole roundup here.
This is focused on New York, but it's happening everywhere.
But they showcase some banana infused Japanese whiskey,
clarified banana juice used in old fashions,
banana rum martini, a banana highball inspired by Andy Warhol's banana
on the velvet underground cover.
Banana stuff is on the wrap.
Now remember, is there any drinks based on that banana that was duct taped to the wall?
Yeah.
Good, good, good.
Yeah, one of those he said was.
Banana juice.
I've never heard the term banana juice before.
Yeah, I wanted to flag that.
How come how you never see that?
They didn't use that term.
But what they did was they used the word liquid.
Like they just took bananas and flipped them around.
They were like a lot of centrifuge type stuff.
But in that case, it was a liquid.
It was clarified banana liquid.
Yeah, Tim, we were asking for some clarification on the banana juice.
Exactly.
Seems like you're just kind of confusing us more or more just so we drop it.
Tim, you're further obfuscating the whole thing.
Ah.
You guys had banana milk?
No.
Oh, they got it at H-Mart.
It's like a Korean, like chocolate milk, but it's banana milk, and it's so good.
Ooh, does they have chocolate in, though?
Like chocolate and banana or just...
No!
I think chocolate and banana would be kind of good, too.
I feel like maybe a Nesquick or a Nessly or a...
a Hershey does banana syrup.
Right up there with the chocolate syrup, strawberry is second.
Like a yellow bottle?
And I feel like there was banana.
I bring it up, Mike, because remember I was so mad at you because you made me buy
Hershey's strawberry syrup.
Mm-hmm.
Remember how mad?
Still getting some of those letters are finally still coming in.
What's up?
Mm-hmm.
Well, thanks for asking.
Well, I dropped a good $6 on this big stupid vat of, uh, Hershey.
That's the strain of hor moves, man.
that's not me.
But, and I was like, great, I can't wait to use a half an ounce of this for the rest of my life.
Yeah.
Uh, half an ounce at a time.
But no, it's not true.
I recently finished it.
I've been using it in all sorts of drinks because I was out of simple syrup.
And I was like, well, I have this fucking strawberry corn syrup crap.
And it's been great.
I've been throwing it in every sort of like margarita and whatever else.
Just as like a sub.
for having simple syrup around.
And it, it will.
That's good.
You know what I've been using it for?
I make smoothies, oh, maybe every other morning.
And sometimes I'll just have like, I'll throw like carrot shavings or something.
Shavings, what I try to say?
Carrot, whatever.
Chunks.
Chunks.
Deguarded shavings from a skinning a carrot?
So you're like potato peeling it?
No, no.
I meant like, like, oh, geez, you know, like.
Julianne.
Julian.
Yes, thank you.
So it's nice.
and it can get all whipped up.
But sometimes I'll do that.
I'll drink it and be like,
this is kind of too much.
And I'll drop just a little bit of that syrupy, strawberry, syrupy thing.
Yeah.
Gives us this nice taste back.
Yeah, it's really healthy, too.
I mean, at least, I say to myself,
at least I'm getting the carrots, Mike.
Wait, Mike, I didn't know you're a smoothie guy,
and knowing your proclivities in the kitchen,
now I need to know what kind of smoothies,
what's the rest of the ingredients here?
And what are some chances you've taken?
And I want to hear about, you know, are they broccoli raisin, a spinach cake?
No, I'm not getting too.
Well, I put spinach and kale in those things sometimes.
But it's mostly, the flavor most hopefully comes from my protein mix.
It's like a chocolate protein mix, whatever.
Oh, yeah.
And then my whatever like frozen.
That's good.
Frozen fruits.
I like to do the mangoes, pineapple-type stuff.
And then depending on what I have, sometimes I'll put on the,
healthier side, like celery, carrots, or spinach or kale or something like that.
And then on the unhealthy side, I'll put, like, that syrup or peanut butter.
Oh, yogurt, too.
I'm putting Greek yogurt recently.
And I do a scoop of flaxseed and chia.
Okay.
Mike, you're looking rather fit.
Would you attribute it to this smoothie thing?
Is this the life change?
Not the smoothie necessarily, but I have been taking.
an interest in my fitness in so much as just getting, thinking about it more.
This is good.
Trying not to get, trying to think about what I eat and drink a little more because
he's doing Jack by January.
I got the aura ring now.
So it's fun to count your calories and stuff like that, but it's just a little like reminder
every day of like, ooh, healthy, healthy, healthy, do they have an aura of cock ring now?
They do.
They do.
And then you check your phone for, and it says too small.
He's like, hey, come on.
Hey, come on.
My small penis needs more sleep.
Mike, are you doing, when you say protein, you're doing what, like a muscle milk, like a way protein?
No, just like, it's probably even just like Weight Watchers or something.
You know, it's on its own, it's a meal, but like I'm adding more shit to it.
Aha.
Is it a flavor?
Chocolate, I think.
Chocolate vanilla, vanilla.
You're adding carrots and stuff to chocolate?
That's what I'm saying.
You got to find the right amount of less carrots, just so you get the...
the nutrients, but not the
flavor. You don't want that flavor.
Okay. I used to
get mad at our old roommate
Chris from the birthday boys when...
Sure, we all did. He would
take a glass and he would pour a bunch
of green juice, like
the Odwala type green juice that he had
bought, the sweet stuff. Then he'd
take out a bottle of V8 to top
it off and go up to the top. So it was,
it was like a black and tan, but it was a
green and red. Green and brown. And I don't know
why. I guess at 24 years old, I didn't
know that different people are on different journeys
in life, but I was so mad
as I'm watching him to drink that.
I was like, it's fucking disgusting.
There is something to making a disgusting thing,
so you just chug it and it's done and you're gone.
And I think juices and like smoothies,
it's a kind of hold your nose and get your protein
type of thing.
Especially like kale? Like, Mike,
you and I used to have the Hamilton Beach
juicer. Do you remember this? Yes,
yes. I gave it. I
sold it or gave it to someone I want to say Pat Babbitt, but I could be wrong.
Pat Babbit who I texted with today?
Yeah, I think so.
Pat, let us know.
Did I or did I not give you a Hamilton Beach juicer?
Folks find out next week.
Jeff, that's a good brand.
Chefs bring that up by name quite a bit.
Ooh.
Hamilton Beach.
They're blenders and stuff like that.
It's almost not worth not worth having as a solo person, but if you got a roommate, you
got a partner. Then you see, you see my camphor in the kitchen. You see he's getting ready to
juice. And you go, wait, wait, I'm going to do one too. And then you both do one. You may be,
maybe even you pop to the store to get a beat or some kale or something like that.
This is like when we're on tour, one guy's doing laundry and then you say, hey, can I throw
some stuff in with you? Yes. Exactly. Right. But you throw a beet in there and then you ruin everyone's
laundry. Can you wash my beat? But with kale and with all the stuff, I'm like great. Make
something that tastes like dirt, but I get through it and I know it's the healthiest thing
you could possibly drink.
So Mike, you're making that, but then you're adding in the Hershey strawberry syrup.
Okay.
Indeed he is.
Okay.
Sometimes it is almost nice of a thing tastes bad because then you're not going to overindulge.
I feel like if I make a smoothie that's too good, then it lights up the beast and Tim El
Diablo, who's like, maybe I'll have a drink five fucking smoothie.
these today.
You think you're going to trick me, motherfucker?
You're getting to trick me, motherfucker?
All right.
Is that it for boo's news?
That's booze.
Just keep your eyes up for more banana stuff.
These fancy, clarified, strong.
I've seen, the only fancy cocktail bar I've been to recently is Vandelle in Los
Phyllis.
And they have a whole section of clarified fruit and vegetable drinks.
And they do have a banana one.
So I think that's the closest that I've had to what this article is talking
butt. And there was, there was, there was, there was like a banana thing that was really good,
old-fashioned kind of thing over at Low Boy. But, um, I, this is this, this, keep an eye out for your
fancy, clarified, centrifuged banana liquors.
Tim, how often you go to Vandelle?
Uh, every morning.
Um, no, no, no, I'm a man, I'm a salt to the earth guy. So in Los Felas, that's, that's,
the bridge and tunnel crowds coming in to go to Vandale. I'm sort of like, you know what, I'll, I'll,
I'll be down at the drawing room, which you need.
me.
They're like, we don't need you.
Why not?
I can help you.
Vendell.
Vandell, beautiful to look at, and it's, but it's sort of a one and done for me.
I don't know if I need to be going back unless.
I've heard that for other people, too.
Not just you guys.
Well, good reviews are continuing to roll in.
It's like continually put in like top 10 bars in the world now.
And it's like, okay.
But, uh, he's really.
Yeah, no, I'm not hanging out there.
You know what I just did?
I had a classic night that we've talked about on pod, if you live in Los
Los Phyllis.
me and a friend of the pod
Jocelyn were at
Ye Rustic ate some wings
then we say you know what
we'll cross the street to drawing room
and then I'm saying I gotta digest these wings
I'll have a giant goblet
of Furnet for $10 it was fucking great
and then you walk out of there there
your eyes are for some reason kind of
crossed and your legs are all stumbling
I don't know that's a people are
the cars are honking at you and swerving
all around you that's always a fun
one two punch you go to Rustic you have
a blast of some great wings
and then you leave and you go, $75.
Yeah, yeah.
And then you walk across the street.
And for $9, you get the biggest, strongest single cocktail of your life.
75 cents.
And you go, why didn't we just come here?
Well, it's good because you get, you spend so much money at Rustick on the wings that you get these sorrows.
And then you have to drown the sorrows over a drawing room.
Perfect.
That's it for Boo's News.
Wrap it up.
Okay.
And now that Boo's News is wrapped up.
tight. We won't be hearing any more boo's news until next week, folks. So if you're only here for
booze news, leave now. Pause. Track forward. Go listen to it. Smartless. We'll give you a minute.
Shut her down. Jump on over the blowout. You'll have more fun there. It's all booze news over the
blowout. Yeah. Can't stop. We turn our attention now to the drink of the day. This is the
crown jewel of the show. If you're just listening now, you're probably thinking finally they're going to
talk about the history and recipe of some drink, and I'm going to learn. Tim, take it away.
That drink you can learn about is the Presbyterian you've had? Not had. You've heard.
I've heard. I've heard on pod from you. Heard on pod. Yes, yes, on the sloppy boys podcast main feed.
A few weeks ago, toward the end of the summer when we were doing the woo-woo and the madras and stuff like that.
The teeny weenie-wee-woo. The teeny weenie-woo. Yes.
Oh, real quick. I was at a bar a couple days ago, and I said to the bartender, it said,
hey, give me a Cape Cotter. And he said, let's give me a cranberry and vodka.
I never heard of it called that. I was like, yeah, I think it's just so people don't have to say cranberryed vodka.
Oh, is it your first day? Oh, you haven't been bartending long?
Well, you couldn't fucking figure that out. You got to make me talk about it.
I never confidently ask for any. I think that's a fine one to take a chance on.
But I feel like I'm like none of the names we've learned on Pod.
I'll just...
Sir, give me a Morrison's lament.
Okay, so the Presbyterian, I mentioned it.
I think it was the woo-woo episode.
I was telling you guys like,
oh, I've been having woo-w-wos and mantras
because I just went to Chateau Lanes in L.A.,
a bowling alley that has like a very dated,
in a charming way, cocktail menu,
so they had all these 70s, 80s things.
but what stuck out to me, oh no, I brought this up in our whiskey ginger episode,
what stuck out to me on this menu was this drink called the Presbyterian,
and their version was whiskey, ginger ale, and seven up.
And we were laughing at the redundancy of ginger ale and seven up.
And I ordered it just to try that oddity.
Those drinks are maybe 89% the same.
Yes.
I mean, it's like just coloring, like food colored probably.
The idea that someone could take a sip of ginger ale and seven up and say, like, oh, this is ginger ale and seven up.
This is not just ginger ale would be amazing.
But today we're talking about the real actual version of it, which is scotch, ginger ale, and club soda.
This is an American drink.
The whiskey highballs were really popular in the end of the 1800s.
And this one started popping up in like bartenders, man.
in the early 1900s.
We believe the name just comes from the fact that the main spirit of Scotch.
Presbyterianism is a, you know, Protestant Christian religion then formed in Scotland.
So this has Scotch in it.
So we're calling it that.
There's also a theory that I've seen sort of debunked that along with like a Shirley Temple and a Roy Rogers,
some website was saying in the 1950s that a Presbyterian was a ginger ale and club soda,
just like a mock tale for dorks.
And they call it Presbyterian
because like a Christian guy would drink it.
But I couldn't substantiate that.
So we're going to stick with the idea
that just Scotch from Scotland.
There you go, folks.
Not just any fucking drivel passes through here
at the Slotkin Boys podcast.
He tried.
The guy that put that on his blog
is going to be fucking spinning
in his grave when this releases.
So, man, this is exciting.
It's atominal.
It's served in a highball.
So would you admit that it's maybe a little bit
of a fall highball.
Shit, you're right, because
the fall highball
was whiskey and apple soda.
Well, maybe this one is the
autumn
drink
Collins-shaped
fresher.
Oh.
No.
Here's, we're going to use the recipe from
liquor.com and they say
two ounces, scotch, bourbon, or
rye. Preferably scotch, but bourbon
or rye are okay.
Then they say two to three ounces ginger ale chilled to top.
Two to three ounces club soda chilled to top.
So I guess we're talking basically, you know, eyeball it.
You're just half and half to top.
Add scotch into a highball or Collins glass over ice,
topped with equal amounts, ginger ale and soda.
No garnish.
Garnish N.A.
Whoa.
What if we want to add?
a garnish.
Would the garnish be lime probably?
I think that was the Shadow Lanes one had lime in it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yep.
But Shadow Lanes is not the IBA or Liquor.com, so we don't trust them.
Now, for Scotch, I bought, Jeff, I think this is one of your least favorite liquors.
I got Dewers.
Ooh, nasty.
And I chose it because it was nicely priced on the bottom shelf, but also because it's what John Favro orders and swingers.
doers on the rocks.
Yeah, he orders a lot.
A lot of different stuff, though.
He was money in that.
He does order a lot of different stuff.
I thought he was money in that, yeah.
Any Glenn.
Right, right.
So he's a Scotch guy because he gets a Glenn fittage.
Yeah.
Yep.
Glenn Gary, Glenn Ross.
Now, Jeff, you said that as if it was you were making a point.
Now, we all agree that's...
I made an association.
You know, you joke, but my friend Bob Odenkirk was in Glen Gary, Glenn Ross on Broadway, baby.
Now you joke, but I saw him play that role on Broadway.
Why did I have to joke?
You should have joked.
Enough joking, enough nonsense.
We're going to go make these drinks.
And when we come back, folks, first sips.
Oh, yeah, it's Halloween.
We have on the back.
Presbyterians in hand.
let's see him
Oh yeah
It looks refreshing
Looks crushable
Yeah
Looks like piss
I know
Mine's a little too light
I wish it had a darker
More autumnal look
Now Timothy
I had
I know I had
Two ounces of Johnny Walker
Red waiting for me
And that was going to be my scotch
And then what did I find
A bottle of doers
So
In the name of
Being in the Handholding Club
with my boy.
To borrow a term from
another inferior podcast.
Now, I've heard you
on multiple occasions say you think that
doers is stanky. Why did you have this bottle?
Was it for the pod?
Yeah, and so I'm trying to work my way through that thing.
Okay, well, what type of
ginger you guys have? Because I only had
cheap signature select
generic store brand and I regret that because
then you're watering that down
with club soda, so, you know, that's
bad. I got Schweps.
Canada dry.
I went generic on the club soda though.
Yeah, but don't you wish in both cases, don't you wish you had Badger Beves?
Oh, that Badger Befs.
Oh, to reach for the Badger twice?
Jeff, I used Johnny Walker Red.
Nice.
That's a good mixable.
Yeah, it's an easy one.
Okay, here we go.
Here we go.
Hey.
Ooh.
Okay.
Man,
it's still got that doer's stank, though, huh?
Yeah, you know,
I feel like what you do is approach this as a high ball that's got a fall highball.
You know, like a Scotch highball with it with just soda.
It's like,
I like high balls,
but, you know,
it's kind of a,
it's refreshing and stuff,
but it's just like whiskey taste.
So it feels like rather than thinking of,
of this as a whiskey ginger that got fucked with.
I feel like it's like a highball that got softened a little because I'm not really getting
ginger taste.
I'm still just getting scotch taste.
But it's like the way you're putting a cup of coffee when you put one packet of sugar,
just a soften that edge, you know?
Just a tiny bit.
Suggestion with a hint.
Speaking of Scotch, you guys ever seen the movie or heard the play the musical Brigadoon?
I've heard Schmigadoon.
Yeah, I've heard Schmigadoon, but yeah.
My parents were just in town.
The reason I break it up is my parents were in town.
We went to see Shmigadoon.
And then we watched Brigadune, which is kind of like what it was based off.
Anyway, Brigadoon is like...
Oh, really?
What if Schmigadoon had nothing to do with Brigadoon?
It's just like, no, there's just two words that's...
Shmigadun is like a mishmash of all, like, Oklahoma and Music Man, like, just kind of the classics of my fair lady and shit.
Anyway, Brigadoon is funny.
It's, it's like one of these old movies, a song and dance movie with Gene Kelly and, uh,
Van Johnson.
You know, it's like,
Brigadoon and Van Johnson are names.
I'm like, I've heard those things a lot.
I know, I have no idea what they are.
And my mom mentioned, she's like, hey, let's watch it.
And it's like these guys who find this like town that only shows up every so often
and they fall in love and they can't stay there.
And it's just really weird.
But it's in Scotland.
And I'm thinking to myself, I'm like,
this is an interesting Disney movies get made or musicals and stuff.
It's like, you know, in Mamma Mia, we're going to be in Greece.
And it's going to be all.
all Greek stuff.
Or like in Conto, we're Mexico.
It's like, we're all doing, you know,
or is it Mexico?
Or is that Coco?
Anyway, this one was like Scotland.
And I'm like, I liked it.
I thought it was really cool.
But it's like, Scotland doesn't grab the,
the, like, imaginations of the world the way other places.
It's not exotic.
Doesn't grab you?
Yeah.
I mean, it grabbed me.
Claire well, Jiffie.
What do you mean?
It grabbed me right under me kill.
It grabbed me.
My Van Johnson.
Oh, no.
I went to St. Andrews, Scotland, and Edinburgh in, like, 2015.
Performing some comedy?
Yeah, the Tim show.
But I told you guys while I was there, maybe it's settled down or they've moved on.
But in 2015, the hot shit in Scotland was nachos.
And they had just, like, like every menu at every pub.
Like I was there to like, you know, eat Haggis and have Scottish things.
And they were like, today's special is nachos.
That's so funny.
And then at one pub I had I had Haggis nachos.
Ooh.
Wait, Haggis is like a pig is like a sheep's bladder filled with stuffing.
Traditionally, yes.
I found that these days it lots of times it was just sort of ground a ground beef type of mash.
Traditionally bladder?
It's more of, it's more of an organ.
I thought it was a sheep's stomach.
stuffed with meat and rice or something.
That sounds good.
Now the nachos, was it like, were they good?
Because you could just get nacho cheese from, like,
nacho cheese isn't like what I'm picturing,
like that I get at a hockey game or something is like nothing.
It's just chemicals that you can mix anywhere.
Yeah, it was that.
It was very straightforward.
And it wasn't like, oh, it's like a nachos grande with a bunch of stuff.
I feel like guacamole had not made his way to them all day.
Oh, man, imagine discovering nachos and not knowing guacamole is coming right behind it.
You're in for a treat, baby.
Somebody check in on them to make sure they're okay.
You don't have any guacamole?
I remember watching the movie Waking Ned Devine and that's Ireland, I believe, but they're like, oh, this American guy, he's got like Mexican crisps.
And I think they're talking about Doritos.
I remember that, uh, that, uh, that,
Waking Ned Devine trailer.
When that came out, there's a shot of Ned Devine.
I think it's Ned Devine.
He's a skinny little old guy and he's like riding on a motorcycle and he's like shirtless.
And I remember seeing that.
My friends looked at me and be like, that's you.
I was like, hey, come on.
And there were like girls there.
And it was like middle school or high school and real school.
Like, no, I know I'm not.
I'm strong.
That's so perfect.
That's like the Tony Soprano meme of, uh, uh, it's like my, my boys when I, when I, when I,
My boy, when I see a fucked up guy on screen, that's you.
That is the funniest, like, simplest joke as you.
I like texting that to people, just like a picture of something that's just a you.
Okay.
Enough nonsense.
Oh, yes.
Oh, yes.
Are highballs in the rotation for you guys?
You ever go to, like, Goldline and get a, like, a Toki-Suntory Japanese highball?
Did you say the highlands, Tim?
No balls.
Ah, no, hi-bar.
What I keep under me killed?
What I keep out of me killed when I'm on top of a tree.
Did we talk about the Andrew Garfield trailer for what was revealed to be a Robin Hood movie?
Oh, the, uh, the, Brogan Bailey film.
The essentially Brogan Bailey movie.
Do we discuss this on pod?
But it is not on pod.
I can't remember it was on pod.
Off pod.
I was watching a movie and a trailer came on.
where it was like, the king can't do this no more.
We're simple farmers.
And it was just beat for beat.
What we joke about with like Braveheart or Rob Roy or the perhaps better known Brogan Bailey.
I mean, we joke about Rob Roy and Braveheart, but we speak seriously of the real movie.
Brogan Bailey.
Yeah, yes.
And this one is called the uprising, I want to say.
Yes.
It's called The Uprising.
But it's another one of these movies where the trailers fully came out.
and it was like the uprising, Andrew Garfield.
And then after the first weekend, they had to call it,
uh, tales of Robin Hood, the uprising.
Just tell them what it is.
He was fully in theaters?
Or you mean, no, no, no, no.
Just like the marketing team chickened out so fast.
And we're like, just say Robin Hood.
Say Robin Hood in the title.
The same way that they had to call it,
Springsteen, Deliver Me from Nowhere.
Right.
It was called Deliver Me from Nowhere for two years.
And that's what the book was called.
and then when it hit theaters, it was called Springs theme.
Like, they can't afford to not, like, if you know an IP, they're going to, like, they have to announce that.
There's no skirting around that.
Why wouldn't you put Robin Hood all right?
Like, that's, to me, that's money in the bank.
We used to have, like, a cool thing where, like, a movie could reveal that it was a Dracula movie.
And now movies have to be like, you're like, Dracula lost at sea.
And the ending is a twist, and here's the twist.
And here's the twist.
In the title.
Yeah.
I just saw a trailer for a movie that I wanted to talk about.
So it's really quick.
I'm not going to take too much of your time, Jeff and Tim.
It's this movie called Whale Fall.
And I just saw the trailer for it.
It was like, is this what I, what are they doing here?
It's a guy gets stuck in a whale in a whale.
He goes out to like scovedive for something.
And he, and he gets stuck.
A whale swallows him and he has to like get out of it.
but it's like, well, Mike, he's far from the first.
Mike, he's far from the first.
I know, I know.
Many have been stuck in a whale.
Now, are there any scenes that you would call the belly of the beast?
The whole movie's the belly of the beast, Tim.
Aren't you listening?
But to see it in, to see it like as a, it's because it's not a cartoon, to see it
as a real live thing, you're like, oh, I don't know if I can, if this is going to be
watchable for an hour and a half, we'll see.
It's the guy from Resident Evil, though, Austin Abrams.
You don't like him?
I don't know who that is.
Mike, you gotta pay attention to media, man.
I know, and I gotta see the new Resident Evil.
Well, you should, don't just see the movie.
You have to play the video game because I played the video games for years
and then I watched all the movies, but you don't,
this is different and canonically this is incorrect, actually.
Oh, I love the Last of Us.
Jeff, two years ago,
I feel like it was the other way, though.
Didn't the geeks not like it, but the public like it?
No, I think the geeks were cool with it because they recreated shots.
Now, I know you're having a lot of fun with geek culture,
and that's so fun on pod for everyone.
But you should play the games and watch the movies, Mike.
I play Fortnite.
And also, I'm going to be getting into that GTA 6 when it comes out.
Oh, the movie I've pledged not to play.
The game I've pledged not to play.
That's right.
You're going to build a chair instead?
Yeah, the Presbyterian is.
making me hot, red in the face.
Yeah, I can see you get a little red right in the forehead there.
Thanks for noticing.
Do you feel embarrassed?
No.
I feel no shame.
Do you feel proud?
Yeah.
That sucks if you start to get red-faced from the alcohol and then you're embarrassed that
you're getting red face, so now you're double red face.
Oh, God.
She's a big purple face.
Double blush.
Double blush.
Now he's the real purple pea.
Well, hey, I wanted, I brought up the draft.
man a minute ago.
Dracula lost at sea.
And don't forget.
Dracula dead and loving it.
Also, who was swallowed by a whale?
Jonah.
Yes.
Pinocchio.
Pinocchio.
Chippetto.
Was Jepetto in there?
Chapto.
It was it wasn't Pinocchio?
It was definitely Pinocchio, but I didn't know if Jepetto was with him.
I thought it was just Jepetto.
Do you guys remember the name of the whale?
Oh, my.
Monstro
Monstro
Monstro
Monstro
Monstro
I thought it was
Nostromo
but that's the ship
from Alien
I thought it was
Stromo
Okay
Well I was just
gonna bring up
Dracula to say
I watched
Once Bitten
Have you seen
Once Bitten
With Jim Carrey
Jim Carrey
is stars in this movie
Like 10 years
Before Ace Ventura
Kelsey described it
well
She said
It's funny to see
a cultish Jim Carrey.
Like he's wobbly.
He's like enthusiastic but wobbly and not in full command of like his skill set.
Coltish like cult comedy or like a religious cult.
Colt like a teenage horse.
Oh, cult, cult, cult.
Colt.
Coltish.
Like like an awkward version.
Like an awkward.
But it's a decidedly 80s movie.
His little buddies are.
The sort of little buddies that are like horny side players that you'd find in ski school or joysticks or something like that.
Really?
Oh, these guys are not funny.
Once bitten.
Once bitten.
Not once bitten.
It's a Jim Carrey is sought after by a lady vampire because he's a virgin.
And he's like early 20s.
I remember seeing some of the same.
He's so funny.
He's on Comedy Central a bunch.
Yeah.
It's so funny.
He was in a virgin vampire movie because then he went on to be a.
Earth Girls are easy, an alien virginity,
or like an alien getting laid comedy.
This guy couldn't get laid.
They're like, oh, let's cast the guy
who can't get laid in Hollywood.
It's so weird, but a movie is not part of someone's story.
Like, he was like 23 and he auditioned and he booked it.
And, you know, like, but it's not, it's not part of the trajectory.
Yes.
It's funny because then he went back to TV.
Yeah.
You went back to In Living Color.
And then that felt like a better launch pad for the,
for the movies that he went on to star.
Sorry.
And so it's like, well, let's just not worry about one's bitten the misfire.
It's almost like going back to TV is like, all right, now you can kind of retool here.
And it's smaller stakes, so to speak.
I do remember seeing that a lot on Comedy Central.
And it's now thinking back, it's like, oh, yeah, he was blowing up.
And Comedy Central is like, hey, we got this cheap movie we can play.
Cool.
Yeah, exactly.
Funny.
Yeah.
It's funny when that happens.
There was like a softcore porn.
starring Sylvester Stallone.
Hold on.
Let me see if I can find the final.
Yeah, what was that called?
Tim?
Well, it was starring a young
Sylvester Stallone and I, it was...
Oh, the Italian Stallion, right?
Yeah.
It was re-released as the Italian...
Released as the Italian satin after he got famous.
But that's so devious to do to him.
Like, he was like, I had to make money
so I was in like a cowboy porno.
And he kind of scrubbed it somehow.
Like, he was able to buy up a bunch of...
They said he bought all the copies or something.
Yeah.
Jerked off to each.
one of them.
Oh, have you seen
the trailer for...
I play Rocky?
No.
My theater, I saw
a history of concrete and it was
a packed theater.
So that's a certain type of audience
that's going to see a John Wilson film.
But the trailer for
I play Rocky played
and it got like
huge laps in a bad way.
Like it was like,
oh.
It's a visit.
Oh, it's a documentary about him.
It's about the making...
I actually think it looks interesting
other than the fact that you're watching somebody do
a sly impersonation the whole time.
It's like, he's like, you know,
I'm not a good-looking guy, so I got to write my own movie.
Nobody can't be in a movie.
And then the studios like his script
and like, we'll pay a million dollars,
but you can't be in it.
He's like, no, I gotta be in it.
Yeah.
It's a good story.
It sounds cool.
Him writing Rocky and then, like,
being essentially homeless or like, you know, he might have to like live in his car or something
and being like, no, I wrote a good thing and I'm going to be in it. There's something,
there's something about Stallone. He's sort of like a, he's sort of a meathead poet in a way.
And like the first Rocky is very good. He wrote it in three days. And with a little help from
his friend, Cocainea. Yeah, I think so. I think they say that like, wow, it was pure inspiration.
It was like, yeah, I don't know. I think some of it was speed. Well, also, I mean, when you watch
the movie. There's a lot of him like walking around, going to visit Adrian, walking around,
getting working out, jogging the stairs, no doubt. I play Rocky directed by Peter Farreley
of another, another Jim Carrey joint. This is funny. It's a post-trumbo. He's staying in
the historical fiction. He did Trumbull? He did Green Book as well, right? Wasn't that?
Yeah, yes, yes, yes. Trumbo, I'm thinking, Mank. You thought Mank.
Hank was Trumbo?
I do this all the time.
People start talking about Trumbo and I start saying.
Oh, yes, Gary Oldman was very good at that.
I'm thrown out of the conversation.
Isn't it funny that Mank is a fun word to say?
So that movie has kind of gone down in history as like a funny thing.
It was like a fantastic movie.
It's like a black and white drama, like a real film to be taken seriously.
But we're like, ha, ha, man.
Who directed that?
That was one of the big boys.
Fincher, the Finchman.
Fincher got his fingers on that one.
Um, shit, man.
No, hold on, Jeff.
You were about to say?
No, no, no, you're right.
He did get his fingers on that one in that he directed it.
It probably took him like two years plus to make it.
Yeah, he got his fingers on that one.
Yeah, directors do get their fingers on the movies.
Yeah, he happened to touch that way.
He got a handle on that one.
They make it entirely.
They birthed it.
Yeah, I mean, he's got to get the script.
His fingerprints all over the film, probably.
I was going to say it's tricky in films when period films.
it's hard.
I've ingested a lot of sketch comedy in my life.
So lots of times if I'm watching a period film that is lower on the budget,
it just reads to me a sketch comedy with all the jokes.
It feels like sketch comedy.
And there's a new, you know, Angel Productions,
like the Christian Studio that has huge hits.
Yes.
I was just hearing about that.
You guys were telling me about it.
It's funny because they're not all obvious.
Right.
So some of them are about like historical figures.
Some of them are about just like a little bit of like, you know,
trying to bust up a child trafficking ring or whatever.
Right. Sound of Freedom was like the big hit and it was the child trafficking, like,
Jim Cavizal, like, action thing. But you're right. It's like, sometimes it's a Kevin James
love story. Yeah. And then other times it'll be like, what really did go down with John
the Baptist? Right. Okay. So they had some success with young George Washington. So now on the
way, I just, when I was seeing this movie, I saw two trailers for Angel Films. One,
is Jimmy Stewart about how Jimmy Stewart was like a successful actor in Hollywood who chose to enlist during World War I, World War II and served.
So that's sort of like, he's, you know, that's a patriot.
He was joining our boys overseas.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And then...
Like a narrative movie or a documentary?
Narrative.
Narrative movie.
And like that had a little bit of the, I placed the loan factor where there's, you've got to watch a young actor man be like, okay, boys, my name's James Stewart.
I should cast you.
uh uh, uh, ju-jouge pedals.
No, but on a series,
oh, I'm the happiest man in town.
I pray.
Is that the show of the movie?
Yeah, yeah.
And I'll catch you that moon.
So they did an okay job executing that one.
But then we saw a trailer for Hershey, I think it's called.
And it's about the Hershey guy in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
And like, you're watching this and I'm like, oh.
It's like Hershey begins.
Yes.
And it's, but it's like, it feels like a funnier die sketch when we were,
We're doing all the sort of like origin story things.
There was like a Wonka one, wasn't there?
There, yeah, a ton of them.
It was like a famous one with Christopher Lloyd.
So this looks exactly like that.
You're like waiting for the other shoe to drop
because it's like all the period garb looks sketch comedy quality.
And they're like, but Mr. Hershey, you can't make chocolate.
Watch me.
Watch me.
Watch me.
I'm Mr. Hershey.
Ooh, the Hershey squirts.
Oh, you know they're sending up the sea.
Angel Films brings you Hershey Squares.
I'm going to do on my second one.
I'm going to do a little more ginger ale this time.
I'm going to kind of kind of do two parts ginger to one part club, I think.
Two part ginger, one part club.
It's right there, but I just want a little more of it because I like that.
That'd be good for a Dr. Benedicto.
Two part ginger, one part club.
Don't pitch them ideas.
We hate them.
Do they listen?
I forget like what they're lords.
They do.
They listen a lot, all the time.
They know every move.
Here's what I'm going to do.
Two steps ahead.
I'm just going to do a scotch and ginger and scotch and just see.
So how this Presbyterians, I've had, I know what a scotch highball tastes like.
So I'm doing a scotch and ginger.
Then I'll know whether the Presbyterian deserves to exist.
Tim, you were choking down a hiccup or burp during that whole.
There needs.
Tyrant.
you want.
You mentioned that in last week's blowout that we were all doing that.
Like,
what is the word?
It's not that you're burping.
It's a real dad move to just keep talking through.
I think James said it's like just working some air out.
It's not like a forceful burm.
It's just like, whoa.
Fist hit in your chest.
You just had a whole pepperoni pizza.
Like,
oh, wait.
Oh.
And for me?
That hit in the chest thing.
Like,
it doesn't really do anything,
but it's just like,
okay.
I don't know.
I'm touching this spot that
hurts.
For me, I just do it on my heart because I'm just saying, like,
more power to you.
Yeah.
Yeah, you're sort of like giving up for your boys.
For me, I'm going to just lose the doers and I'm going back to my Johnny Walker Red.
Are you done, Mike?
No.
He's laying down a bed.
What you're saying, what you're going to do.
Because then people don't listen to me.
They listen to the bed because they're like, no, he's doing Wolf of Wall Street.
There's all these bedheads.
listen to the pod just for the bed.
Oh, I'm sorry that this comedy podcast can't be funny.
Okay.
So I'm doing the same Presbyterian switching out for a better scotch.
That's it.
Folks, we're going to come back for round two.
And then our final thoughts.
Ooh.
Shake his hand.
I'm a drunk.
You got me plot over.
We're back with round two of the Presbyterian.
I did my slightly preferred scotch.
I don't know how much.
much of a difference it'll make. Here we go. Oh, ooh, that's good. You did the,
I'll shit my pants. Yeah, just Johnny Walker. It's just slightly better. It's just got
slightly less like band-aid pety stank on it. Yeah. Petey. I'll tell you what.
I can't we do commercials for just coffee.coop.com. I know. I know. We'll call them.
We'll call them on on air next episode. Um, you know what's good here. A little more, a little
heavier on the ginger, a little lighter on the club soda is just what the doctor ordered for me.
This is a nicely balanced.
I don't want to tip my final thoughts, but the club soda is fucking pointless.
I think people like highballs, though.
You know, I think that there's like whiskey people.
They think in terms of neat, rocks, or highball.
And to be honest, I like rocks, but I don't feel like real whiskey people like rocks.
They're like neat or highball.
because they just want the taste.
Is it whiskey where like sometimes they'll just add like a little water?
Is it whiskey that makes me frisky?
I think it is.
That makes you frisky?
Yes.
Yeah.
Um,
yeah,
whiskey.
Jack and water was,
uh,
Frank Sinatra's drink of choice.
One finger of whiskey,
two fingers of water.
And it just airs it out a little bit.
You just get,
Jeff,
it opens it up.
It completely airates it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
I do know that, like, highball has have their...
I'm going to sneeze.
Whoa.
Oh, as one of those Michael Jackson sneezes.
Hewhee.
Plastered the wall with green slime.
My, I just did scotch and ginger.
To me, this tastes better, but it did...
Doers?
Doers in Canada dry this time.
Ooh, stanky.
But I feel that, um, I did notice the difference as in, you know,
like with the lemon lime soda.
I was laughing at it.
The difference noticeer has logged on, folks.
I think we're all noticing differences in round two, huh?
Mm-hmm.
Oh, I think so.
New difference noticeer just dropped.
Okay.
All right.
Final thoughts.
Now it's time for us to adjudicate the drink.
The triumvirate has gathered, and now we offer our final thoughts.
We're all wearing cloaks, by the way, when we do this.
Yeah.
Oh, let's put some, uh,
Gregorian chant in the background here.
Yeah.
It used to be a pentaverid, but now, but two drunk.
We lost out.
We lost out.
It's a triumph right.
Mike Myers won't do two of the characters anymore for us.
For me, this is an order again.
I'm enjoying this.
It's a nice, kind of a light option in a weird way.
It doesn't really hit your taste buds too hard.
And it takes me back.
This feels like an old time you drink.
Like in a time where people were, you know, talking like, hey, give me a, this
on that. Give me a...
Hey. I'm this kind of like, hey.
Hey, what type of guy are you? I'm that type too.
Oh, okay.
It's good for us.
Yeah, it throws me back and I like it. It's good.
Easy. Simple, quick.
Ooh, delicious.
I'm going to agree with Mike.
I'm, it's an order again and the reason is health.
I feel like when I'm disgotian ginger I'm having is tastes better, but you don't always
want to have liquor and full strength soda.
and this is probably a 300 calorie drink I poured myself here.
Now a high ball is a very healthy drink.
And drinking just like a Suntory, Toki highball is very healthy.
But I feel like this purpose of this Rob Roy is like for Scotch people, the little splash of ginger oil,
it just takes a little to the edge off.
It tastes like a high ball, but you're having a little fun,
but you still are keeping the calories down.
And for me, the most important thing is being skinny because nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.
Jesus Christ.
Okay.
And for me, folks, I couldn't be more misaligned with my co-host.
Oh, wow.
This drink is in no man's land.
What are we doing?
It's an old-timey drink because drinks back then fucking sucked.
If I'm doing a soda drink, I'm doing tequila soda with lime like you see me do every time in the green room before we go on stage.
Do you not?
I do.
I do.
Yeah.
It's true.
Mm-hmm.
Damn.
And if I'm doing whiskey, I'm going to decorate it.
I'm going to put a little egg white in there.
Put a little angusura bitters.
And a little sour mix.
Now, Jeff, your tequila sodas that you drink all the time.
What's the percentage of that being a nice, clear, clean drink for your health?
and versus you actually
clean, clear and under control.
But versus
have you acquired a taste for that?
You also just are like,
I like tequila soda.
Like when you don't order a margarita
and you order a tequila soda,
are you thinking of your health
or are you thinking of that's just the mood,
the flavor mood you're in?
It's a little bit of both.
It's very clean running.
I would say if,
because I try to do extra lime
or like a nice big lime squeeze,
not like the pinwheels I was finding on tour, to be honest.
Oh, yeah.
You know, I forget how what, like the little skinny half moon of lime that you can't really squeeze has no juice.
Just flies out of your hand.
You look at it.
It's a decoration, but it has no juice.
I don't like those limes.
Give me a nice fat wedge that I can, if not to.
And then I'm having about 75% the fun of a margarita, which is pretty good.
That's a lot of it.
That's a big percentage of the fun because a margarita can be a fucking 700-calorie adventure.
And it can be like a sugar bomb, sweet bomb.
And I can't be doing those all night, but I can have two.
I can use my two drink tickets as a performer to do two tequila sodas before we go on stage.
Okay, now let me ask you this.
And then it's whatever the audience brings up.
Furnettes, you know.
Fireballs.
Dr. McGillicuddies, yeah.
It's always funny when someone drinks a fun.
A funny one.
You know, when people bring shots of gym, that's funny.
A whole pizza.
Now, let me say this.
The whole pizzas are fun.
We love whenever anything's brought up to the stage, folks.
It's fun to have the drinks and the pizzas.
What about a big, maybe we mentioned this before.
A big sub coming in might be fun next time.
If anyone wants to organize that.
How about one of those seafood towers with raw bar stuff on that?
Oh, God.
What a little fondue.
Okay, so me and Mike said order again.
Jeff said not order again.
So that was about the drink, the Presbyterian.
You know, so we've been talking a lot about that.
And then also, oh, yeah.
That's locked up and behind the Presbyterian.
Do you think that listeners know that all three of us went to private Catholic high schools?
I think so.
Not the new listeners.
The OGs do.
Oh, the new listeners.
Well, they barely know anything.
So it would be funny if they're like, I think they're called the sloppy boys.
I think they do a podcast, but I know they all went to Catholic high school.
But I know I don't like it.
Anyway, so, yeah, we've heard of the Presbyterian.
and that we've heard of Catholicism.
But ever you heard of the Christianity quiz?
Yes.
Oh, you have?
Yes.
Perfect.
Then you're going to do well.
This is a quiz designed with several skill testing questions
that a couple of former Catholic schoolboys
should be very good at.
And it's a blurter.
I'm going to ask you a question.
You say the answer.
I'm keeping score.
The winner,
gets an
extra Easter egg
come Easter egg.
As extra Easter egg.
Tim, I'm trying to focus up
on Halloween. You're talking about
Easter?
Maybe we'll clip this, we'll take this out of
this episode and put it in an April
episode, but we're going to record it now, Jeff.
All right.
Okay.
And remember last April, we did a Halloween quiz,
so that'll be an easy swap.
I mean, hey, this is funny.
For Halloween,
Has anyone ever dressed?
Has anyone ever dressed as like Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny?
Yeah.
That's very funny.
I've seen Santa Claus and it is very funny.
Damn.
That's a good one.
That's a good move.
I got coffee today at Phil's coffee.
You know,
that kind of,
that plays wet.
There was a little sign like you could,
on the counter,
like you could sit there,
like the staff can write like some little flare or something.
There's a little chalkboard.
And it said,
uh,
like there was like a little comment box.
And then the sign said,
what's your favorite fall holiday?
And it was like,
it's a Thanksgiving.
It's a very funny, like.
President's Day?
No, that's in February.
Okay, you guys ready for the quiz?
Yep.
Dear, near, near, Jesus of Nazareth was put to death by a Roman governor
whose name is reminiscent of this jackass star.
Ponce's pilot.
Oh, fuck.
Chris Pantius.
Chris Pantius.
Chris Pantius.
Jeff gets it.
Wait, what was the, oh, near, near, near, near, like, the, yeah, okay.
Dear, near, near, not to be confused with Burr.
Dear near.
Dear near.
Dear near.
Okay, here we go.
Question two on the Christianity quiz.
Jeff is something on nothing.
Nice, Jeff.
Damn.
When Jesus was imprisoned, he could have been released, but the crowd of Romans chose to release
this criminal instead.
Brutus.
Baracus.
No, no.
So close.
Jeff's even closer.
Fuck.
Baracca.
Barabbas.
There you go.
Michael has it.
Fuck.
You had it.
What did I say the first time?
Barabbas or something?
Baracus.
Baracus.
Baracus Obama.
Tim, take it away.
See, this is what I was hoping for is that listeners,
I think that a lot of people don't know this shit,
but that we were Catholic, so we, like, this is.
buried in the back of our brains.
Okay, next up.
Huh.
The number of sacraments is reminiscent of the title of this Fincher film.
Seven.
Mike gets it.
Fuck.
God, David.
I thought it was 12.
And then I realized I was wrong as the question kept.
You're thinking 12.
Spooling.
Okay, but Mike, you said you pronounce a 7.
The V is an integer 7.
Is that the way you were pronouncing it?
Uh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Okay, well, I'll give you the point. Anyway, okay, next time on that Christianity quiz.
The guy who posted the 95 theses on the church door has a name that is reminiscent of these two television series.
Martin Luther.
What two television series, though?
Martin and Luther.
Yes.
Jesus Christ.
I'm impressed you got that.
I had a hint for him to go, and my hint was not King Jr.
Okay.
Next question here on the Christianity quiz.
It's tied up two, two.
Ooh, you got to be kidding me.
Jesus fed a large crowd with only few of these round baked goods and these swimming animals.
Loves and fish.
Jefferson, Mike, you were close, but Jeff is who I heard first.
It could be the Los Felis Connection.
I think it might be the Los Felis Connection.
Next question.
How many times did Joseph Rail Mary before Jesus was born?
Zero, and I, how dare you?
Mike gets it.
Dare you?
Michael gets it.
Yeah, I give it to him, Tim.
What type of conception did Mary?
have.
Immaculate.
Jeff gets it.
Next question.
Genesis is one of the
books of the Bible. Yes, this is
true. But the band
Genesis contained a member
whose last name was reminiscent
of this Immaculate Conception
announcing angel.
Peter Gabriel. Gabriel.
Michael.
Oh,
can we at least make no
that it was very close?
It was very close.
I'm writing a little note here.
It was very close.
Well done question.
Now,
I thought you were spinning,
because I was following you
every step of the way.
And I was like,
he's going to twist this
into something else.
And I was waiting for Phil Collins
to be Tom Collins or something.
And in that split second,
I hesitated.
And I handed it to Mike.
Don't hesitate.
You learn your lesson,
Jeff.
Never hesitate on the quiz.
Jeff,
and I don't even,
all I do is wait to see
where you're,
about to, oh, he wise.
He's the old cup.
Move right in.
Yeah.
You should have seen Mike here in a Zoom square.
He was laid back arms crossed just smoking a cigarette while Jeff was.
And then Mike just stopped right in.
Outer frame.
Folks don't believe them.
They're lying to you.
You're rather Jesus like.
Forgive them.
They know not what they do.
Okay.
Next question on the Christian anti-quist.
Okay.
Huh.
This brand of potato chips has a name that is reminiscent of the type of guys who visited young baby Jesus.
Uts.
Cape Cod.
Lays.
Pringles.
This brand of potato chips has a name.
Wise.
Jeff gets it.
The three wise man.
Five four.
Jeff is beating Mike.
Very good time.
How much?
What is it?
Five four.
There's been nine questions so far.
That's right, here on the Christianity quiz.
Now these next ones kind of move kind of fast, so you guys got to be ready, okay?
Okay.
Okay.
Our father who what in heaven?
Art.
Art.
So close, but I'm giving it to mic.
What the fuck?
What be thy name?
Hallowid.
Jeff.
Oh, Halloween.
Oh, God.
I said hollow.
Give us this day our daily what?
Bread.
Bread.
Jeff.
Crazy. And forgive us our what?
Trust paces.
Jeff.
No, not, Jeff.
Mike.
Lead us not into what?
Temptation.
Temptation.
Jeff.
I can't believe you.
These are all so close, Mike, but I'm getting nanosecond to Jeff before.
It's the Loz-Felis Connect.
Yeah, yeah, yep.
You got that Brooklyn.
I've got to try to anticipate before Jeff can think.
Deliver us from what?
Evil.
Jeff.
Oh, man.
I was like he's
he's going to say evil.
Okay, everyone?
Okay.
Here comes the next question.
Yes, yes.
Hail Mary full of what?
Grace.
Jeff.
This is crazy.
This is crazy.
If you can see what I'm seeing.
The Lord is with who?
The.
Jeff.
What the fuck?
It's not.
This is bad.
Blessing.
And art thou among who?
Women!
Pray for his sinners now into the hour of our what?
Oh, okay.
Now, he's clued in.
He's clued into the game.
Michael got that one?
He found the pattern as well.
This band had a name that was reminiscent.
This band had a name that was reminiscent of Jesus' day job.
The Carpenters.
Reminiscent.
And finally.
Would you also accept Sabrina Carpenter?
Yes.
Ooh, wasn't she in the Carpenter?
Yes.
Final question.
Jesus shares a name with a character in what bowling film?
Bigel Blaskey.
Michael, you got that, but unfortunately, Jeff has won the Christianity Quiz 14 to 8.
That's good.
That fast round was, I would like to do that in person when we're back together.
And I would also like to turn the other cheek.
Oh, my God.
Tim, does he get any points for that?
Hold on.
Let me count this.
Oh, my God.
Mike has won the Christianity quiz.
No.
And I'll tell you why.
Here's why.
Jeff, your thing is, oh, I've memorized everything teacher said.
But here's what Mike actually learned it as it is a live.
I live it.
example.
He lives.
He lives.
I've remembered everything teacher says.
So that beats my lip service?
You agree it was lip service.
Mike, you want an extra Easter egg come this next Easter.
And listeners, I bet you didn't know that your little sloppy boys had all of that knowledge.
That's pretty impressive shit.
Can I just, I don't know if this is allowed, but with my Easter egg, can I give it?
Can I give it to Jeff?
Because he seems down.
Jeff, you have won the Easter egg.
I'm writing this in here.
Jeff gets...
Well, I've won the Easter egg.
Yeah, you didn't win the Christian quiz, but you get the egg.
Tim is writing it down.
That's good if this is being kept record of.
Yeah.
He did immediately grab the pen and look down.
Yes.
Okay.
And then here's a...
The last question is,
it'll get you a future point on a future quiz.
Oh.
When I make Jeff's Easter egg, I'm going to die.
it with what brand of dye?
Michael gets.
So remind me, next time we do a quiz,
Mike starts with one nothing.
Of all the egg dye brands, he guessed pause.
There's only pause and generic.
What a lucky strike.
Okay, but if I were dying clothing,
what would I use?
Ritt.
Jeff gets it.
Jeff, you also, you all,
next time we have a quiz,
you start at one one.
All right, hold on.
How about this?
What do I call my new tie-dye invention?
Oh, shit.
Reverse.
Reverse tie-dye.
Tim, you get the point next time.
Yes.
Okay, so we're all doing pretty good.
So the Quizmaster gets a point next time.
That's awesome.
Well, if he's not doing the quiz.
That's our show.
Follow us on social media at the sloppy boys
where we release these recipes ahead of time.
And if you can't get enough boys, we talked about it.
It's patreon.com slash the Slop.
That's where you get the Wednesday show.
It's a little more tipsy, a little more informal.
We can sort of let our hair down.
And this all month long, it's October month on the blowout,
where we're bringing in our favorite freaky films.
With an extra special wild card at the end of the month to be announced at a later date.
Now, the first episode of this series that was posted this,
week it's already up and listenable if you subscribe.
Are you saying that it was my choice and I chose the film Obsession?
Yeah, that's Tim's pick as obsession, folks.
Oh, shit.
That's going to be a good episode for people to listen to.
Shit.
It was a fun.
It's fun.
It's fun.
It's good.
Well, as far as this show, the main show, good job, guys.
You too.
You too, the listener.
Good job.
Listening.
And we'll see you at the time.
And hey, folks, listening to home.
Great job, you too.
you're part of this as well. You're part of this whole thing.
Ah, but your job's not done yet. You must now go online, go on your phone, and tell two people about this podcast.
And rate and review and rank and report.
And also have a great weekend.
Bye, folks.
Happy Easter.
