In the past the Smark Avengers have picked their own team line-ups and that's fun and all... but where is the competitive spirit in that? Put on your cowboy hats, grab your number placard, and join the Smark Avengers as that have 100 pounds/dollars burning a hole in their pockets and team of X-Men to build!

I'm pretty sure Dennis was like that when we used to record the... Yeah, mine used to do that. Were you the one who initiated the recording those times? Yeah. I wonder if that's just the gimmick. Like, if you initiate the recording, your audio sucks at first. Maybe. Maybe.

So, yeah, no. It's been... John, it's lovely to have you back. Hey, yo. Welcome to Spark Avengers, everybody. My name's Corey. And with me is Dylan and John. John's returning from a two-week break from us.

And we're not going to talk about what he missed. He can listen to those episodes. He's going to find out in two time. Yeah, in due time. He's going to read a lot of awfully weird comments on YouTube. He's going to be like, what did you two do? You know, he's like a parent that went out to the shops for a moment. And he turns to their kids like, don't.

I'm going to go out for one second. Don't mess up anything. And as soon as the door closed, the two misdievous children, burn the house. D. Oh, we burned a dime. At least you're back, though. Oh, yeah.

At least you're back. Yeah, I'm not like... You voted the highest been burnt on. I'm not like the dad who went for cigarettes. He never came back. Yeah. You went for cigarettes and then came back. Yeah, you came back to give us that sweet, sweet secondhand smoke.

To give us some of those, you just put cigarettes in our minds. Like, this is your punishment for Brennan the Highestine. You got to smoke this entire pack of unfiltered camels. Yeah. I don't know. You're not smoking them. You're eaten. them. Yeah, we're going to eat the tobacco.

Delicious tobacco. It's a crop for a reason. So I did have a I did have a thing I wanted to tell you, John. A friend of mine from back in the day stumbled upon our podcast and was listening to it. And they told me that you sound

like you're fed up with us a lot of the time. Do you find that to be true? No, that's just my natural voice. See, that's what I told them. Like, I've known John for 20 years. It's just how he is. He is a little bit up, though. A little bit, a little bit. Yeah.

Only a little bit. We set the house and fire, so. Yeah, that's fair. You know, and he did survive that submarine accident as well. Yeah. So, everybody, today we're going to have, we're doing a little something different, a little something new. We're going to be playing a game. I got this idea from another show I was listening to, and I thought it worked really well.

And theoretically, you should work here, too. So we have had a couple episodes now in a row where we have done the unthinkable. Do you guys know what that unthinkable thing is? I wasn't here, so no. Yeah, we did talk without John being here. Yeah. Well, we have not spoken about the X-Men.

Oh, do you? I don't think we did. I don't think we did. We might have mentioned them in the episode before last. We did. But it was not a focal point. No, but we did mention it in that one. So I don't think we did last time.

No. Well, we talked about fucking everything else. Yeah. We can't remember what we talked about, but I don't think it was the X-Men. I remember a lot of it. And it was something else. So what we're going to be doing with the X-Men is I have got my 10-gallon hat. I have handed John and Dylan little placards with numbers on them.

And we're going to have an auction today where the gimmick is that we are going to each have 100 fictional dollars. And there are 22 X-Men that I have randomized in a list. And we are basically going to bid on individual X-Men characters to build a team. And then afterwards, you know, it might evolve into something else. But essentially the rules are you have $100. You bid as much as you want, but your limit is $100. And once you're out, you're out. So I'm not saying that all of these characters will be auctioned off.

It's very well possible. We'll have some that just get passed up completely. But I have focused on major X-Men characters that have some... There might be a tertiary one or two in there. But like no members of like Generation X for the most part. No new mutants for the most part. You know, no oddball characters. This are primary mainstream X-Men characters.

So let me tell you. I feel like on paper, John probably has, like, the stronger team. Well, here's the thing, and this is what's great about this, because it's a podcast. People who listen to this They can vote and see who they think had the strongest team I would like also, before I reveal this team to say that Whenever we picked our old X-Men teams, I don't remember if that one The episode we did it

Okay, well, whenever we did an episode a while ago Which apparently didn't get aired, but we picked our own X-Men teams And like three of the guys on my current team Were actually on the team that I picked Oh, well done. For that, yeah. So. Do you still have those picks?

Somewhere. But I know I know three of them I definitely picked. So let's see, Corey's team, Nightcrawler, Cylock, Angel, Colossus, Beast, Cyclops, Jubilee, and the Multiple Man,

Jamie Madrogs. Not bad. I think you swung it around. You know what you mean? I think Beast is a good pick. Cyclops is a good pick. Syclox is a good pick. Works well with Angel who is a questionable pick.

Multiple man. It's a lot of fun. Coloss is a good, strong guy. Everybody likes nightcrawler. You know what you mean? Like not bad on paper. Not bad at all. I went with Bishop, Gambit, Rogue, Deadpool, Forge, Quentin Choir, Iceman, Storm, and Strong Guy. So I had like nine people in my team. And in my original X-Men pick that we did ages ago, Gambit, Rogue, and Storm were on my X-Men team. So I got the gear. This is pretty... Yeah, I had a feeling that I couldn't, that you had, that you at least drop 20 on Gambit.

And I think that Quentin Choir was on my reserve list. Yeah. So I think I did pretty... A strong guy I think was on my list as well, wasn't it? So that's four... Yeah, so that's four that were 100% of my list. That's a good comic

right there. I think with those guys, you could question Forges a place of the team, but then again, so many of them use guns, I think that's legitimate. And then John's team, very kind of traditional. but still that's like you said people are going to say it's the strongest one wolverine

professor x magnino emma frost cable shadow cat and jean gray pretty strong like we me and cori fictoran a little bit we got forged in july you know john like strategically he he spent a lot of money early on but he got a very strong team three talapaps yeah yeah that's hard to beat. Just one more. Well, I mean, Table was like a sort of a telepath as well. Let's say four telepaths,

just if we're spitting hairs here. Yeah. Four telepaths, that's hard to guard against. Yeah. And my team would leave your team so dribbling and, you know, like staring off into the distance.

Well, not Deadpool, because he already does that. Okay. That's his default state. Bingo. See that? Yeah. And then Forge's could make like a baby juggernaut-style helmet to get around that and avoid telepaths that were sweet.

You know, I was debating putting Juggernaut on the list, but I was like, eh, I don't think so. He's not technically, I hate when they throw him. Yeah, I hate when they throw a juggernaut on X teams because he's not technically mutant. How did you decide to go with these 22? So, like I said, I went with the ones that were kind of the most iconic. the so like either in the cartoons frequently or they kind of like had big kind of a bigger role elsewise like outside of cartoons so like shadow cat you know kind of the she was like chris Claremont's character essentially jubilee was the cartoon quentin choir because he's sort of that

the new the newer character that younger character that gets put into the teams but i yeah yeah i mainly focused on sort of iconic characters i put in Deadpool because movies coming out and like you know by the time that this episode airs, the movie's already been out for a few weeks. I feel like Deppo A is an iconic Marvel character. He's become that way, yeah. Yeah. Especially if that movie does, like, the unthinkable and, like, revitalizes, like, the X world in the movies, then, yeah, I mean, that's, he's made it then.

I think it'll do pretty well. It's probably going to do great. But, yeah, no. So I went with, like, with the more iconic characters and the characters that were, like, featured heavily in the cartoons. Pretty good list. Yeah. I was like, you know, I was debating throwing around some like weirdo names on there.

But then I was like, you know, I had a feeling forge in Angel and Jubilee would be the ones that wouldn't do so hot. Yeah. But, you know, that's kind of why I wanted them there. Do you know what would have been funny, though, is if we just did an auction with those characters. Because it's really easy to want, like, weirdo characters. Cyclops and Magneto. Yeah. Right.

That makes sense. but imagine you have to build your team around like the shittiest ones. Yeah. That's a much different like thought process. You already, Corey, you already, like all the way through that. You were like, I already know what my team's going to be. You already had like a game plan. You already knew you wanted Cyclops.

You know what do you need? So I'm like, all right, well, what if what if Cyclops was a non-entity? Like, again, at the end of it, I figured it was Gene Gray and Storm, you know what you mean? We figured that out. So like, what if that wasn't part of it? What if I put Farrell on the team? It was just like, oh, not Wolfsbane, huh?

Not Wolf's Bain, Farrell. Do you know what if you were doing things like that? And just because this was this was really fun. I really like this. But I think doing it with that kind of restriction will be even more fun. Yeah. Like I said, in the beauty of this, we can do this with like Avengers. We can do this with like Justice League.

We're pretty open on like what we can do these with. But I thought it was a really fun idea to do. So yeah, I know that I'm going to. Glad you guys like this. Like I said, I did. I really like this. It was so fun to see, like, our weird little competitive streaks come out. I really wanted Gene Gray.

I just really, yeah, that's a good question. Was there somebody that went to someone else that you really wanted? I wanted either Gene Gray or Emma Frost, and I knew that they were both going to be highly competitive. But I was swinging more towards Emma Frost, but, like, on the flip side, getting storm was pretty cool. Like, I like that. That randomizer was a game changer considering, like I said, the first time I ran it, Gambit was first. And I was like, Dylan's going to drop 20 immediately. What's good about that too is, remember, I made you randomize it again live on the show.

Yeah. That means certainly did. And we started with Wolverine. And I feel like Wolverine went really low for that reason because it was the first one. And it was like, well, we didn't know what a good price. 21 other people after. Yeah. There were so many other people that went.

for like more than that. Mm-hmm. Which is interesting. And you easily, I could easily, if Wolverine had been middle of the pact, I could definitely see that bid being driven up higher. I don't think I would have bid more than 13 for Wolverine. I was tempted, but I was like, I don't know if I want to come out swinging that hard in the first in the first round.

He's not Cyclops, sir. No, no. Like I said, Cyclops is that one because I was like, I know I need a leader. And I, I wanted it to be Cyclops, but I was like, you know, I could probably go with Xavier. You can theoretically even go with Magneto. But yeah. Well, that's the thing. Whenever we did our previous episode that did, I'm spoiling this
