The Squeeze - Cassie Randolph: Being a Private Public Person
Episode Date: April 5, 2023Today’s episode of The Squeeze feels like grabbing coffee with an old friend. Taylor was busy this day so Tay caught up with Bachelor star Cassie Randolph, who she’s actually never met! T...he Lautners are friends with her sister, Michelle, and knew they’d love Cassie just the same. Cassie opens up about going through such a public breakup, and the two discuss going from living a normal life to being thrust into the public eye. Cassie shares that she was naive going into reality TV, and that social media has been the biggest adjustment for her, hearing mean comments directly, and feeling them personally. She speaks about having her family as her support system after the show, and the denim line she created with her sister, LNDN (named after her brother). She shares her biggest takeaway as a new entrepreneur, and also shares what she’s hoping to do in the field of speech pathology. With this being our 11th episode, the two wrap up by tackling the Lemon 11! Be sure to check out LNDN denim at lndndenim.com, @lndndenim and follow Cassie personally @cassierandolph. When life gives you lemons,
what do you do with them?
Over here at the squeeze,
We talk about it.
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome to The Squeeze.
Thank you for joining us on this lovely Wednesday.
We are thrilled to have you.
I am your host, boy, Taylor, and I am joined by my co-host, Girl Taylor.
I mean, that, like, intro there was good, like, announcing voice.
Thank you.
Like, I tried.
It sounded like when you're, like, at a sports.
game and they're like introducing the people. I'm like Bob Minnery. I don't know about that.
Oh, okay. Well, I'll do it moving forward. Well, let us know. Let us know in the email at the end.
If you want me to continue my sports broadcasting intro or if it was extremely cheesy and I'll never do it again.
Can I ask you a question? I saw this recently and it really struck a chord with me.
Yeah. Okay. Here's my question for you.
Okay.
If I were to reach into this lemon jar right now.
Okay.
And I were to pull out in cash, cold, hard cash.
Okay.
One million dollars.
Uh-huh.
And be like, babe, here you go.
This is yours.
Here's a million dollars cash.
You can have it and go do whatever you want with it.
Would that put you in a good mood?
would you say it'd be pretty tough for the next, you know,
bit or so to to ruffle your feathers?
Yeah, probably.
I put you in a good mood?
Yeah.
What if I,
what if I reached into that jar and I pulled out one, two, three, four, five, six,
seven, eight, nine, ten million dollars cash.
That's a deep jar.
Yeah.
And I said, this is yours.
Go do whatever you want with it.
I want to give you $10 million cash.
Do you think it'd be in a good mood and it'd be pretty tough to bring you down for the next bit?
I think so.
What if I said, but you're not going to wake up tomorrow morning?
If I take the money?
Yeah.
Tomorrow morning you will not wake up.
Then I won't take the money.
It's probably a wise choice.
But the point is, what does that say about the value?
of waking up every single morning and being on this earth, living this life.
You just said that getting a million dollars or $10 million cash would be enough to not touch
your mood for the next bit.
Yeah.
Well, why wouldn't we feel the same just waking up every single day?
because we are we are so blessed and it is so rare that we are on this planet and we get to wake up in the
morning and live this thing called life why don't we wake up every morning with the same thought
process i'm not going to let you know this little thing get me down this thing irritate me
this, you ruined my mood for the day for the week, because life is way, way more valuable
than a million dollars. So, yeah, I heard that. And I was like, that's a really good thought
process. And of course, I'm not sitting here saying that's easy to do. Life is difficult. And we all know
that. But I just think, at least for me, I need to think more like that. I need to wake up in the
morning and if these little things happen here and there that just ruin my mood and are trying
to bring me down, just be like, hey, remember what you said when you were offered a million
dollars or $10 million cash and nothing could touch your mood for the next month because of it.
Yeah.
On a piece of paper like 10 mil and just stick it on your bathroom mirror or something when you're
like up having a 10 mil arrow.
life. Yeah. Like waking up. Yeah. It's a great way to start off this episode.
But moving on, I unfortunately was busy this day, but you had an awesome conversation with our guest for
the day, Cassie Randall. Can you tell me a little bit about it and how that all went? Yeah. Oh my gosh. She's just one of the
kindest souls. I knew I would like her. We have.
We hadn't met in person yet.
We've been friends over social media for a while, but we're friends with Michelle, her sister.
Yes.
So I knew I would like Cassie because they...
If she's anything like her sister, we're going to love her to death.
Yeah.
So I kind of feel like I already knew her and I knew that I would love her.
And it honestly just felt like we were having coffee, like just sitting, chatting.
That's great.
Getting coffee.
But, you know, she's...
I just relate to her a lot because she's so normal.
And I mean that in the best way possible.
Yeah.
It's very easy for people that have been given a platform or have been in the spotlight to think more of themselves or to, you know, crave the attention, like the attention.
Or sometimes just carry themselves differently.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You know, just have like this aura to them where they carry themselves.
For sure.
And she just seems like she's a very down to earth.
Yeah, it just felt so comfortable.
And I think that's why it felt so much like I was having coffee with a friend because she's just, she's just so relatable and so sweet and it's just so normal.
Like we literally were just talking about everything under the sun.
Yeah.
But it was really cool.
And it was also really cool to just kind of hear her thoughts on, you know, going through such a public breakup and all that that kind of entailed for her.
Because breakups are rough, but.
Yeah.
Yeah, the rough as it is.
Then put that in front of the world.
The world and feeling like you need to like tell.
Yeah.
You know, your side or speak to it or tell a side.
That's definitely hard.
So I just applaud her for how she's, you know, carried herself.
She's been very respectful to all parties involved.
And she just handles herself really well.
She's a gem.
So.
And.
Oh, and.
Most importantly, not really.
But I heard she was rocking a pretty dope out.
fit. Oh my gosh, yeah. I was in, I was
in my companies and she like struts in.
She has to. We'll talk about it later,
but her and her sister have a denim line
and they have
the absolute
cutest clothing items.
And of course, she had to rep
her brand. When they
post about it, I'm like, I need some
of those. Yeah. So she was really
cute in her a little often.
But yeah, I'm excited for
you to listen. Everyone at
home watching and listening to listen and enjoy our little coffee date that we had.
Can't wait to hear.
Welcome, Cassie, to The Squeeze.
Thank you for having me.
I'm super excited.
I'm so excited you're here.
I absolutely love your sister.
So I...
Me too.
I then also just love you because you guys are just like the cutest little sister duo.
And I feel like I've just known you for a long time through social media.
So I was saying earlier.
Weird that we're just meeting for the first time in person.
But I love that.
So we start our shows with this little jar, our little segment called Citrus Got Real.
There's a bunch of deep, thoughted out questions in there.
So go ahead and just pull one.
The paper is really long.
Yeah.
And everyone's like, I feel like I got two.
And then Taylor's like, you did.
If you could switch lives for a day with any celebrity, who would it
be in why. Oh, I am so bad at these questions. Oh my gosh. Probably like Taylor Swift. Honestly.
I want to like sing really well. Yeah. But I can't at all. That's a good one. I don't know why my first
response was to switch places with Taylor to see what it would be like to be married to me.
That's good. That's a good one from an outside perspective. Wow. That'd be scary. I don't want anyone
who's close to me, you know, because wow. What a thought.
Also, that's hysterical that I literally just answered that question with my husband.
So odd.
Oh, boy.
Okay.
Well, anyways.
Do you get to choose one or just this?
Oh, no.
It's just you.
Oh, just me.
Okay.
I mean, I can pull one.
Why don't I pull one?
Why not?
Let's see.
Do you know what all of them are?
Not off the top of my head.
This is funny.
If animals could talk, which would be the rudest?
Hmm.
I'm like trying to think they're every animal in my head.
I want to say.
This is hard.
My first thought was hyena because of lying king.
Oh, that's a good one.
I don't know why zebra is coming to mind.
I kind of feel like a zebra has that kind of attitude.
Sorry to all the zebra lovers out there.
We still love the zebras.
Oh, my gosh.
Maybe a cat, you know?
Like an entitled cat?
I was going to say cat, but I know Michelle loves cats.
I love cats.
Okay, so I didn't want to overstep with saying cat.
But I also have a cat that lives with my parents.
because I went off to school and then my mom took the cat as her on.
She loved,
they love your animals.
Yeah,
they love my animals.
That's amazing.
That's why everyone's like,
where's Lily?
Because Remy's always like coming in here and jumping on the furniture.
And I'm like,
um,
Lily's with my parents because my parents love her.
So something as you guys know that has been a huge part of my mental health journey,

I feel like I relate a lot to people that have been on reality TV, on The Bachelor,
because you go from living, like, a normal life to then being in the spotlight,
And then after you're like, oh, I have a platform.
Like, you're in the public eye.
And that was very similar.
Like, I relate a lot to that because I grew up very normal, didn't have anything to do with the industry.
And then dating Taylor, I was just kind of like, like, thrusted into all of it without, like, knowing.
So I feel like there's like a piece and like such a relatability, like talking with you or people that have been in the same position as you because you're just kind of like, oh, I was just going in the grocery store casually by myself.
Now every time I go to the grocery store, I get photos taken to me. So it's like, it's just like a weird.
It's a really weird world to navigate for sure, especially in the beginning. Like now I'm used to it.
But life has changed so much. Yeah. I'm sure for you too. Like it's just wild. So prior to the show was was life, I'm assuming. I don't know. Life was normal for you in that regard.
Yeah. I was in school for speech pathology. I mean, I was.
ended up finishing it after the show and everything. I'm still doing it. But that was kind of my life
was just school work. And then once the show hit, you know, you're hit with so many different
things, opportunities. Yeah. People. I don't know. Life just like catapulted in a different
direction. Like social media especially, I think was the biggest adjustment. Yeah. Which is,
comes with like good and bad.
Yeah.
So yeah, it was, it's fun.
Like there was so many fun things that came from it,
but it was definitely really hard to adjust the same time.
Yeah.
Especially because people like expect you when you're in this limelight or the public eye,
they expect you to kind of be different for some reason where you're like,
I'm just a normal person.
Yeah.
And I feel like a lot of people are like, oh, they signed up for this.
They knew what they were getting themselves into.
Like I've even sometimes.
sometimes caught myself, like, maybe even thinking that watching the show. I'm like, no,
that, like, you can't, like, prepare. Like, obviously, if you have friends that have, like,
that's happened to, but, like, you as a person, like, you can't really prepare for that to, like,
have to deal with it. I was definitely naive going in. Yeah. Very naive. When I went in, I was like,
this is going to be a fun opportunity. I don't really know. I'm probably going to vote it off the first
episode. It's just going to be fun. And then next thing, you know, I'm like,
Like that was not what I thought it was going to be.
Yeah.
But, oh my gosh.
So when the show ended, you like, you get your phone back, you see all of, all of these things
that have been saying about you, the world knows about you, you have to go do interviews,
press, all the stuff.
Was there a moment where you were like, crap, what did I just get myself into it?
Oh, my God.
Yes.
And I'm sure you've heard it from Susie, too.
I've been on it like, oh, okay.
Yeah, there was even a moment.
where right after the show, like, while it was still airing,
where, like, my producers were like,
you should probably turn off your comments on Instagram,
like delete the app for a few days, people are nasty, whatever.
And I didn't because I'm stubborn and was like, I'm fine.
And it was just, like, people are just ruthless sometimes, you know?
They have so much of an opinion on who they think you are or how you're edited and all of this.
And I just had no idea going in that.
like, I'm just going to like be myself, be cool, and it'll be fine. But no, I mean, people will find
anything to pick apart. So. And I feel like the reality TV fans on social media are just,
oh yeah, they are just, I'm, I'm very thankful for, I don't, I also, I'm, like, way too far on
on the other end where I don't like look at, like, comments or things. Um, or mess. Like, I'm just, I probably
should look at things a little more because we,
Me too.
Oh, I commented it.
I'm like, oh, I totally missed it.
Actually, there was, shoot, what was it on?
I think someone commented on like a podcast post of ours on our page or it could have been mine.
And they were like, I'm loving the show, but you won't see this comment.
Like, you know me.
You know me so well.
But I'm very thankful that, you know, it is a different fan base.
Like Taylor has such a loving, supporting group of fans.
and, you know, he does, he's, he's such a great person that no one dislikes him. And so I,
that's so great. I hopped into that little train. So jealous. People have been so nice,
but I feel like it is just ruthless out there for. Yeah. Television. Like, I, I feel, I don't know,
this might not be true because I'm not an actor, but I feel like for the acting role,
well, let me just like smack my mic here. It's so different because,
you're not necessarily playing yourself.
Yeah.
You know, playing yourself.
And when you're on reality television, it's like when people are mean, you feel it personally.
Yeah.
You know?
Yeah, because that is you.
But then also, it's not really you because there's like so much editing that like goes into.
Did you feel, honestly, I have the worst memory and I was trying to like watch a little bit of the season back.
You're so fine.
You came.
And I was like, how.
didn't it end? What happened? Did you feel like you were portrayed properly or was there times that you were
like, that's not what I said. You definitely like miss a chunk. There were definitely things where I was like,
that was kind of taken out of context or, you know, I think I said a little bit more there to
clarify. I think for the most part, they didn't edit me like horrible. There were people on there that I know got way
worse of an edit than I did. So I'm grateful. I also had a really great experience and great time on it.
Yeah, I was going to ask that because I'm talking with Susie or with my other friends, like they,
people have been on the show. They're like, I loved. Even Hannah, when Hannah was here,
she was like, I loved being a like contestant, so to say. Like, it was like so much fun.
Being with the other girls. Was that like a similar experience you had? Yeah. It was so much fun.
It was one of those experiences that I am, it's almost hard to describe.
to anyone who hasn't been in it.
I think that's why everyone in the franchise is so close to, like, family,
because they're the only people, other people that get it.
But it's like you're in this little bubble and you make really close friendships.
You've become really close to the producers.
It's like you have nothing to worry or care about besides what you're doing in that moment.
Yeah.
Which is nice because I feel like coming back to reality, every day I'm like,
I can be doing this and doing this and doing this.
And there's all the stimulation, whereas when you're on the show and you don't have any of that social media, the outside world, it's like you get to really focus on being present.
Yeah.
Which is kind of a double-edged sword because then maybe you turn things into things they shouldn't.
Yeah.
But it's so an experience.
How was your, how do you think your mental health was coming off?
Because I've heard mixed reviews of people saying that they were fine.
It was really hard.
or like they they didn't have proper support from the show.
How were you after?
Yeah.
I mean, I'm lucky because I'm so close to my family.
Yeah.
And they were there for me and that is huge.
But it was definitely, I think looking back,
I was so overwhelmed with things.
I didn't even realize it in the moment.
Yeah.
It was hard because I think,
it was just such a change. Yeah. I bet it's hard, like, trying to process because, like,
like, a huge part of, like, my story and my mental health struggles and working as a COVID
nurse, like, I, the first time Taylor brought, like, asked me if I was, like, actually, like, doing
okay, like, mentally. I was like, oh, I don't know. And it took me a few months because I was,
like, in the thick of it. And there was just, like, no time to process because there was just like,
I listened to that part of here. So, that is. So that is.
crazy though. I can't even imagine. Yeah. But I mean, I think similar when you get when you're off
the show obviously different, but similar in the sense of processing things. Like if there's just so
much like being simulated and I feel like that's why a lot of people like go out all the time or
they are constantly like just scrolling through their phone or just trying to distract themselves.
Like when you're when you don't have time to process what's like being what's going on. Like
yeah. How do you how do you even? Yeah.
grow or realize that you're struggling. I haven't find myself to this day sometimes being like,
oh, I totally forgot. I even did that. Oh, wow. And I'm like, what a bummer that I didn't get to
kind of soak it in and enjoy it. Instead, I was just, I felt a lot of pressure. Yeah.
Because you're not used to these things and you're just, I'm used to like going to school and being
this normal life. And then all of a sudden you're like, I need to, you know, know how to
articulate myself on GMA. You know, what? Yeah. I know. That's, and that's something that,
that's funny because we just did we just had a press day and I don't I don't know how to do interviews like
I just did my first like on camera thing and I was like I don't know what I'm doing I'm just talking and
Taylor you seem great oh thank you but Taylor's like no you're like this is how like you've
word this or this is how you do that because like I'm also not good at talking about myself because
I feel like I'm bragging but Taylor's like no you have to explain the backstory of your podcast
that's the whole reason you did the podcast I'm like you're right but it just feels weird
He's like, no, you need to say this.
I totally get that.
I hate talking about myself sometimes.
I'm like, I'm just boring.
Yeah, I know.
So that's like been an adjustment for me now, which is funny because we've been together
for five years and I'm still like learning things, which I think I'm just going to continue
learning things for forever because this has been Taylor's life.
Yeah, because how young was he when he started doing all this?
I think it was 12.
Yeah.
I think it was 12 when.
He's a shark boy and law.
A girl came out.
Professional.
Yeah.
He knows.
He knows how to do it.
He knows what he's doing.
Another public thing, you obviously went through like a large public breakup.
How was that mentally for you?
Because I, we've had our wedding crashed by paparazzi and that was like rough for me, but that was still like a happy time.
How did you like work through that?
That would be hard too, because you're planning this day and you want to be perfect too.
And then.
Yeah, that was.
You're like, can you just stay in your lane?
It was a little rough.
That's why we have a, like, a wedding trailer, like a little five-second teaser that we haven't posted yet.
Maybe we'll post it by the time this comes out.
Who knows?
But I want to see it.
I'm just like holding on to it because I'm, like, mad that someone came and ruined our special day.
But it was beautiful what I saw.
Thank you.
Fantastic.
Yeah, the photos that came out in the Vogue article were a lot better than their...
10 miles, not really, but they're far away.
10 miles.
Don't like lenses range.
Do you have cameras like there?
It's like a really long lens.
Oh boy.
But how was that publicly going through that for you?
Because obviously, everyone has an opinion.
And it's like something that is so personal, like to you.
I honestly am a lot like you where I just like don't look at things that are out there.
or different comments on things or just tune it out if it gets brought up to me.
And I don't like talking about it if it's negative.
So when I was going through that, I think it was really scary.
Just because I knew the situation, I knew what I had gone through with it and it was already hard going through it.
But then having everyone who doesn't know me and all the speculation about it,
giving their own opinions on it was, I just didn't want to hear it.
Yeah.
You know?
And then it's hard too because then you almost feel like you have to explain yourself or you have to explain it when you're not ready to talk about it.
Yeah.
So it was kind of trying to find a balance between letting myself breathe and have that space, but also being like, okay, I do have this like responsibility to or this duty of being a public person.
Yeah.
where I have to deal with it.
Yeah.
So that was hard because it forced me to have to deal with it publicly when I just wasn't ready.
Yeah.
How long after did you, I don't even know, like, did you publicly?
Like, what was the first, how long after was the first time you?
I never really spoke personally about it, but there were things released to the public that I just wish I didn't have to do.
Yeah.
You know?
but I just I had to
Yeah
In order to
I watched
Your like
Little interview with Chris Harrison
Last night
You were like on a little screen
I think it was like right after
He was like
Trying to get you to answer some questions
And you were just like
Um
I'm not ready
And I was like
I respect that
I respect like
That's something I like
Absolutely love about Susie's
Like her and Clayton
went through such a public breakup
up and like she still respects him and like well chair like she just hold like she still respects him
and I feel like and herself even and I feel like you did such a good job of that of like respecting
yourself and the other and just like this is what we're yeah this is kind of between us but here is
it's hard when you get probed so much to talk about it and you're like look there's not really
anything I can do to explain to someone who wasn't in it yeah like why it yeah what happened
but yeah I remember that interview I was apparently
terrified doing that because I just didn't want to say the wrong thing. Yeah. I bet. Yeah. I mean,
that's so much pressure too, like having to speak about it. I props to you for doing that.
Oh, thank you. Is there like one, like, this is a very large question. Is there like one thing you
learned to maybe about yourself or about how you handle things or your family? Like during that time,
like coming out of it, looking back, was there something? You'd be like, oh, this was a big learning lesson on whatever or I'm.
Yeah, I've definitely learned so much. I think going into it, I was such a people pleaser where, or just very, not a scared person, but I was so worried about how people are going to take what I say and I overthink everything I say. And I still do that to an extent for sure. But I've definitely learned to let things kind of roll off my back more. I try. I'm a big overthinker, but I try not to overthink things or at least I.
know that I do that so I can kind of be aware of it. And I think what's most important is when
you're, even this podcast today, right? Like I could do this podcast and be like, oh my gosh,
should I say the wrong thing? How are people going to take what I say? But instead, I think
what's so important is to have fun with these things more than anything because I don't think
that I really prioritized that going into everything because I was so nervous about it all.
Yeah. So I'm just wanting to enjoy all of it because you don't know how long this is going to
last either. Yeah. Do you feel like now, is it, is like the comments and message is still a saying,
or do you feel like it's... Not as much. I mean, you'll get that occasional thing or, you know,
when something randomly comes up in the, an outlet and then it will like spark it again.
Yeah. But no, I feel so, I mean, now I'm thinking about it was up five years ago that we filmed it.
So very removed. And I feel like I've gotten to kind of grow my own, like, establishments.
myself a little bit more. So I feel, um, I'm also a very like private person. Yeah. Um, so I guess
I haven't established myself a ton, but I feel more confident in like talking. Yeah. People and
people knowing what I am and stuff. I love that. So let's talk about what you're up to now.
Oh, yes. First of all, let's talk about this outfit you have on. I'm like, those look good with me
sitting. Why don't you tell? If you're not watching this, go to YouTube. It's,
watch it because I it's raining outside and I'm in the most comfortable outfit ever and now I want to be
wearing what you're wearing strutted in in this outfit oh my gosh you're so funny I'm I'm wearing
land and denim I had to you know you had to absolutely everywhere I debated it but I only I have shorts
and like a like the white it's like a white baggy we need to get you you have the pullover or the
button it's a it's a t-shirt and it has like oh yeah the button it's like a little long
And not long, but maybe it's just long on me because it's like, everything kind of oversized.
Yeah.
We have to get you more stuff.
I was like, should I bring her things?
And I was like, wait, I think we set her things.
I wasn't sure what you had.
Oh my gosh.
We will for sure get you more.
I will gladly wrap.
This is our winter.
I love that.
I thought it was very rain appropriate.
Yeah.
You're like the chic rain.
I'm like the she's out by the fireplace.
You should see me every other day.
I love that.
Okay.
So what, like, where did this come from?
You had Michelle wanted to...
Yeah, we...
Probably four years ago now.
We started designing.
We've always been like very casual laid back in our fashion, but really interested in it and really passionate about it.
We were like, what is something in the fashion space that we can do that is always timeless, but kind of fun to manipulate and work with?
with and create new things. So that's why we chose denim. And I feel like denim's very like
California. Yeah. You know, it's, and it's always in in some capacity. Yeah. So we started
designing it like three years ago, went through some changes in like partners that we had.
So many sample rounds. It was really hard to get it absolutely perfect. Wow. But we did it. Finally,
launched last year. And here we are. Right now we're just online on. Okay. On our site. But we have been
slowly getting into, actually it's a lot.
We're not just online because we've been getting into like little boutiques and specialty
shops and stuff.
So that's our goal right now is to kind of grow it into more retail space.
Oh my gosh.
Wow.
That's a journey.
I love it.
It's just, it's really fun for me.
Yeah.
And is it fun?
I mean, I feel like you have to say it's fun.
So if Michelle's listening, is it fun working, like getting to work with your sister?
Oh.
You know, working with families, I mean, great in so many ways.
It can be, you know what I think is great about it is sometimes me and Michelle will just be way too honest with each other where we're like, that is a horrible idea or like you need to pick up your slack right now and start working.
But you need a partner like that.
Like you need someone who's going to be honest with you about your ideas or I think what's good too is we're really.
similar. So even if our ideas grow well together and we have a lot of fun doing it because she's
like my best friend too. I love that. I feel I feel like that's very similar to Taylor and I like working
together doing this. It's like it's so fun. It's so fun. But then sometimes he'll say something or I'll like,
I'll say something. He's like, no, what? Why would you want to do that? It definitely needs to be this.
I'm like, this is why we're working together.
Yeah, because who else would do that?
Like, it's just family, right?
Or like a really, really close friend.
Yeah.
Yeah, that's so awesome.
What's been something you've learned?
Because one day I hope to come out with, like, products or something down the line.
Is there something like the biggest takeaway that you've learned from like the journey of it or something that, because I know a lot of people are doing like a lot of just like, even if you don't have a platform, a lot of people are just doing like their own little things.
Do you have?
entrepreneurs these days. Do you have any advice to our entrepreneurs that are listening?
Let's see. I mean, I feel like I'm so new in it. I am so new in it right now. And it has been
such a growing experience because I think when you start something, you're so excited about it.
And you're like, I want everyone to love it as much as I do and I want it to take off. But it is,
it's just a slow and steady climb. Yeah. You know, because it's kind of, you get what you put.
into it, which I've been definitely learning. And I think every day I'm like, okay, what can I be doing
more to build this brand? And it would be easy to kind of let someone else do it. We've had to
put a lot of effort to make it grow. And it's not just easier because we have this Instagram
platform or some kind of platform. But I want it to be bigger than that. So yeah. Your guys'
stuff is so cute. And it's, I'm very excited for the future of it. And
that's your brother's name, right?
Okay.
Oh my gosh.
I love that.
Was that like a no-brainer for you guys?
Or how did you?
I don't even know, honestly, how we really thought of it.
We've always loved his name.
Yeah.
At one point, we were like, should we name it orang-y?
I'm like, orangey.
Why would-like, we just went down like a dark hole.
Hey, I went through a lot of names before we got here and before.
There's a lot of weird holes you go down.
Yeah.
But, I mean, you know what's hard.
about thinking of names too is finding things that aren't taken.
Yes.
Right?
I'm like, there were so many random little things that I was like, what if we do this?
What if we do that?
And when you find the right one, though, it's usually kind of taken and you have to kind
of manipulate it to make it better.
Like originally we wanted to name it L-A-N-D-O-N, how he spelled his name.
We're like, how do we make it work but still name it Landon?
I guess L-N-D-N, which now I kind of like better.
Oh, my gosh.
Yeah.
It's like so clever.
looking and like aesthetic with the with the caps and all the things. Okay, so you went to school
for speech pathology and then you did the show and then you went back. Are you still in school or?
No, I graduated in 2021. Okay. And then now I am, you know how like you have like a residency
with things? It's kind of like that for speech. It's called getting your Cs. Okay. So I'll be done with that in
April. Okay. So I'm like working under a supervisor and then in April I can work for myself and
start my own business. So I'm very excited about that. Oh, wow. That's so cool. What like what do you
want to do? Because the only like speech realm that I know is when I worked at the hospital when
someone couldn't swallow. I was like, we need speech. And that was. Oh my gosh. Those are the only,
that's the only like past that I know of speech mythology. I feel like that's the main thing that's
in the hospitals for sure. I've actually never worked in a hospital.
I feel like it would be, I mean, you know, it's probably crazy, like so busy and, wow.
A big commitment.
Has its moments.
But it must be very fulfilling.
I've always wanted to try it at some point in my life.
Yeah.
But as far as what I do, so I've worked with adults and kids, but mainly, like, school age,
whether it's autism or, like, a speech impediment or even, like, voice clients.
So I've worked with like transgender clients who are trying to healthfully change their voice.
Or there's just so much you can do with it.
You can work with stroke patients and trauma, which you probably saw in hospitals a lot.
Or like accent reduction.
You can work with speakers, singers.
That's what I love about it is there's just so many different opportunities in the field.
Wow.
You can kind of make it.
What you want.
Is there one that's like your favorite?
That's such a hard question because I used to think that I would really want to work with adults.
And I think I still would.
But I have most experience with school age kids.
And I love almost like the middle school high school age where they're kind of like over you.
Yeah.
But then they still like, they're like, okay, you're cool.
Yeah.
So I love that.
Oh, that's so awesome.
Dang.
Well, I learned something new.
I know when I was like speech pathology, I was like, I don't.
I just know that when.
Whenever my patient is looking sketch when they're swallowing, I need to call speech.
That part scares me.
But.
That's funny.
Props to them.
Props to them.
Very thankful for all of our speech pathologists.
That's so cool.
I know clue about any of that stuff.
Yeah.
You should look into it.
How long?
I mean, I'm just curious.
How long have you and your boyfriend been together?
Like two and a half-ish years.
I've known him for over seven.
Oh, wow.
So we've been friends for a long time.
Oh, cool.
But like officially dating, we started dating during.
COVID. So okay. We're a COVID, COVID born relationship. A COVID baby. A little COVID baby
baby relationship. How was that like dating then? Was it like towards the end of 20th? Like where?
It was in we started, well, we started talking in like August and that's kind of when we count our starting
dating. Yeah. We're like, okay, we were exclusive, whatever. Yeah. And it was good. I think it was great
because we knew each other.
Yeah.
I'm like a big supporter of dating your friends or people that you know in that capacity first.
So it was, it was fun.
And I feel like we were there for each other through a lot over the last couple years.
And yeah, we've just, we've grown really close through it.
Dang, that's so cool about you guys are friends before.
I think like couples that when they first start dating, like go through.
something, whether it's like COVID or like Taylor and I,
when we first started dating, we started, we were like talking for like two weeks and then he
went to London to go film for two and a half months.
And I was starting nursing school.
And we were like, are we going to like do this?
And we're like, okay, that's like be exclusive.
And then we, it was like a month, I think before I ended up going out there and seeing him.
But we, all we could do was talk.
And like by the time he came home.
home in March, it was like, I feel like we, like, I felt like we'd been dating for so much longer
because I knew him so well.
I love that.
Yeah.
So I'm like so thankful.
If we had to do that again, that would not work.
Oh my gosh.
The long distance.
Yeah.
I can't, that's like the thing with tating an actor or not you're married to one.
Yeah.
Like that long distance would be so hard for me.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Luckily, that was always like a big thing was like, I just want to go like travel with him
with whatever he wants to do.
like I'll go see him or I'll stay with him or I'll like come and go because that's like he's my main
priority and I'm very lucky that with like not being at the hospital now.
You can do.
Remote.
Yeah, I can do.
Yeah, that's great.
Work from wherever.
So yeah, we'll see next time he has to leave for a couple months.
He did last time he was only gone, I think, for like a month and a half.
I had gone out a couple times.
But I also had got COVID when I visited him.
And then I was like, I was like out for like two.
I was literally like out of work had to go on unemployment for like two months.
What?
It was that bad too?
It was so bad.
It was horrible.
I was like, of course it ends up getting this bad.
And of course it like happens when I'm not.
I never got sick working.
I mean, it makes sense.
We're so protected in these things.
But like of course I get it going to visit my.
Did he get sick too?
Yeah, he got it and gave it to me.
And then like day 12 or 14.
whatever it was, I don't remember what the timelines were.
He was like back up in the gym, on the elliptical, doing all the things.
And I, like, I could have gone to the hospital, but we weren't home.
We were in New Orleans.
And I was like, I'm not going.
I'm not leaving.
What did you do?
Just like lay.
Yeah.
I have asthma.
So I had like my inhaler with me, thankfully.
And then I remember like the day that I was able to go out of the room.
We like walked to CVS because I needed to get.
I had pneumonia.
I've like had pneumonia.
and I knew I had it.
And so we were like walking to CBS and I like practically like passed out.
I was like seeing stars and it was like I had had it for two weeks.
And then I came home and was like I could not.
It was so frustrating.
But it was I needed that to leave the hospital because I was still working there.
And I think that was just God being like, you are not okay.
Get out.
Yep.
You need to sit down.
You need to not move.
You need to think through what's happening in your life.
So I'm thankful for it.
but it was freaking.
There was a time, but now we're here in at home and pajamas.
Okay, so let's head into our little Lemon 11 segment, 11 questions that I love, Taylor hates half of them because they're deep questions.
But they're fun.
They're fun.
And I feel like they're just fitting questions.
Also, it has lemon and 11 is our favorite number because we got married on 11.
Oh, I love that.
So, yeah.
Okay.
First question is, what movie or song title best describes your mental health today?
Okay. I read this one prior and I was like, this is so hard. And then I was trying to come up with all these answers. And I was like, only ones that I looked at my phone. I was like, what's playing right now? Maybe that'll be it. And it was like crying shame. And I was like, oh gosh. Let's not say that. That's funny.
Yeah, I have no idea on this one. I think something that would describe.
like you're trying not to be stressed, but you're stressed a lot.
Whatever title that is.
Okay.
Maybe that's a new song.
Maybe you venture into that realm of artistry.
Yeah.
Maybe I'll like pub one up right in songs right now.
Oh yeah, do it.
Do it.
Plug it.
Dreaming.
Dreaming.
Does that make sense?
Your dream.
It's a, it's a rainy day.
It's, it's dreaming.
It's a.
a happy. It's on a journey. Yeah. Yeah. A dream. Yep. That sounds good. Love it. Love it. Love it's a plug.
Okay. Number two. How open are you with the people in your life when you're struggling?
I think I'm pretty open with like my family and like my boyfriend and close friends. Definitely.
Because I think it's so important to talk things out. I'm a big like fan of. Yeah. Talking everything out.
Yeah. Which probably annoying.
always my boyfriend at times.
That's funny.
I need to talk about it.
Communicate.
I'm a speech pathologist.
Communicate.
That's funny.
I didn't even think about that.
I try.
And then sometimes it really kind of depends on the situation, you know.
Yeah.
Depends on if I feel like ashamed of talking about something or not.
But I think most of the time I try and figure it out.
Number three.
What is your favorite part of your morning or night routine?
Ooh, morning or night 15.
I love, I've tried to make it a point to go, like, see the ocean every day because I live in Huntington.
I'm a, I just love going on like morning walks or nighttime walks, at least like one time a day, get out of the house and see the ocean.
Yeah, that's definitely one of my favorite parts.
I also just love coffee, you know, just sipping coffee.
I have, I have a coffee and I are in a breakup.
right now. Yeah, it just, it kicks my anxiety into like high gear. I literally won't be doing
anything and I'll be sitting at my desk and I'm like having an anxiety attack. And sometimes does
that. In the mornings I don't, I haven't had coffee this whole week and I've been craving the
crap out of it. But I haven't had an anxiety attack this week at least, maybe. Tea. I know. I've,
I've been having decaf tea. I just need to get decaf coffee and then I'll be fine. But I did just buy like,
it's half, it's half caffeine coffee.
Oh, half calf.
Oh, that's, they call it?
Oh, I don't know.
Ooh, that used to be a brista.
So I'm like, is that?
Oh, my gosh.
I had never heard of that.
Half cap.
Oh, my gosh.
Wow, learned something new.
It's a trendy name, right?
Oh, my gosh.
Wow, so that's actually a thing.
I literally just learned that looking at, I was at everyone and I was like, okay, I need
decaf and they did have any decaf and it gets, uh, shoot, what is it for?
It's the mushroom.
one for Sig Stig Matt.
I've heard of this.
I've wanted to try it.
I tried their, they have like some packets on those are good.
Okay.
It's like like a Chaga packet, I think they have.
But they were the only one that had half caffeine.
So I haven't tried it yet.
I'm going to try it when I don't have anything like that I need to do.
In case I do get anxiety from it still.
You'll let me know how it is.
Yeah.
Hopefully it'll be good.
I don't even think I've ever had decaf coffee before.
So because I don't feel like I don't drink coffee to be awake.
I just drink it because I get headaches when I don't.
So yeah.
I should probably win myself off of it a little bit more to be honest.
Hey, I mean, if you're doing fine, then I guess that's fine.
Okay, number four.
How has your career impacted your well-being?
Speech therapy really keeps me grounded.
Yeah.
That's why I love it.
I think it's part of the big reason I love it.
I think social media has a tendency.
to negatively impact my mental health.
It's sometimes hard to find a balance of,
okay, this moment is for me and this one I can share with people.
Yeah.
I think that's the hardest thing about it for sure.
I love that.
I agree with that completely.
Number five.
What is the most misunderstood thing about you?
I was trying to think of this one on my eye over.
I'm like, what is misunderstood?
You know, it's funny.
It's kind of a funny one because I was like,
there's probably so many random little things. But when so many people are like, you've gotten all
this plastic surgery done and all these things. And I'm like, I literally have not.
She just has good collagen and good cheekbones. People come on. Or I've just gotten older.
You know, people expect you to look like you did like 10 years ago. And you're like, I was 13.
Or no, wait. I'm not 23. I'm 27. I was 17. I fully thought I was 23 for a second.
I forget how old I am all the time, actually.
That's so funny.
I always know Taylor's age.
I never know my age.
People are like, how old?
I'm like, I...
Taylor's 31.
I'm five years young.
Okay.
I always like, how to do the math.
I don't know.
That's so funny.
That's great.
Well, that's a good answer.
I feel like people on...
People on social media to her, so like, she's had this son.
I all the time see, like, the plastic surgeons, like, pointing at people's faces.
I'm like, bro, just let them, just let them get it.
Let them live.
Even if I had, like, just stop.
Just let them get it.
It's their face and let them do what they want.
Okay.
Number six.
What is the greatest advice you've ever received?
I've received so much good advice.
This one's very hard.
I feel like what applies to me today, cannot apply to me in like 10 days.
I'm like, what is my greatest advice today?
I actually have a Pinterest board of like words, you know, in quotes.
I was looking through them earlier.
And I was like, today.
I think my mantra is what can you control right now?
And then worry about that.
Don't worry about what you can't control.
I love that.
We talk about, I think it was like a couple weeks ago,
we posted something on like our lemons by tape page about it.
And I think it's one of our most well-received quotes we've put up.
Just because it's like, it's so true.
Like you can't worry about the things that aren't in your control.
And I feel like once you, I mean, I don't know, you can ever fully grasp that.
But once you truly start like practicing that out and being like, okay, I control my actions.
I can control this, that I can't control what other people think.
I can't control that.
And once you just focus on what you actually can't control, it's like so freeing.
Yeah, it takes a lot of pressure.
Yeah, off of you.
Yeah, for sure.
Number seven.
What does wellness mean to you?
wellness for me is like all about balance in life. I think it's really important to be healthy,
eat well, take care of yourself, but also be okay with letting yourself not be perfect.
Yeah. So I think balance for sure. I love that. Balance. That's a good word. Number eight.
What is your relationship with social media? Do you think it affects your well-being?
I think it can be great because it like provides so many opportunities and so much.
It can be really fun if you know how to have balance with it.
Yeah.
But I think there are so many days where I'm really stressed out with it for some reason.
And I'm like, Cassie, you have to stop being stressed with it and just get back to having fun with it.
And I think it's because with social media, it never stops.
Yeah.
And it's a job that you could do 24-7 every single moment of your life.
And sometimes I feel like I need to be.
You can always be doing more.
Yeah.
And I put so much pressure on myself to, you know, be better and do more.
And you can, I don't know, be better.
Yeah.
No, it's definitely hard, especially because, like, we use social media for, like,
our brain release, like, relaxing.
But then also, like, when it's your.
job, like when, like, you are, like, a content creator and, like, you need to be doing that,
it gets, like, so stressful. And you're like, I haven't posted in a week and I don't know what I
want to do. Exactly. I have so many things that I've filmed and I'm like, nah, I don't want to post it.
And I'm like, that was a waste of time. Yeah. And I'm like, now I just wasted my day. And then I'm even
more stress. Yeah. Oh my gosh. And it's like the comparison thing too. You're like, I should be
doing how they're doing. Yeah. Oh my gosh. I think that all the time. Even like not in it, not even like a
a looks way, but just like, oh, shoot, like their content's really good. I need to step mine up or
whatever it may be. Yeah, or like, why am I not doing as good as them or how I feel like that's
really hard? It's like when other people you think. But then you talk to those people and they're like,
no, I think you're doing great. And it's just a vicious cycle where everyone, it can be really
draining. Yeah. Number nine. What is your favorite form?
of self-care. I think I'd have to say like getting outside going on walks. Yeah. Like yoga,
getting moving. Anytime I'm having a bad day, I'd all nine times out of 10 after I get moving,
it'll mostly switched around. I love that. I need to, I love like going, being outside and walking.
And I need to get better at that because I'll just like get lost in my computer. And I'm like,
it's already like 5 p.m. and I haven't moved from my desk. And I'm like,
Ah, crap.
Sometimes I'm like, maybe a glass of wine instead of a walk.
And then I'm like, no.
Hey, I mean, it's in moderation.
Balance.
Yes, balance.
As long as there's balance, that it's great.
Okay, number 10.
Who has had the most positive impact on your mental health?
I'd have to say my family and my boyfriend.
I think they just really stabilize my life.
Yeah, I love that.
I feel like it's like very, like I knew family meant a lot to you before even like coming here.
Like I feel like it's so special like how even just like not that you're sharing it all the time on social media, but like what I've seen.
It's it's so special to the relationship that your family has.
It's so sweet to see.
Lucky to be close to them.
I love that.
They're in Huntington too.
Yeah.
Okay.
I love very close to my parents.
I know.
Oh my gosh.
That's sweet.
But it's fun.
We're trying to recruit Michelle, you know.
Michelle get back to Huntington.
Where is she now?
She's in L.A.
right now. Oh, okay, okay. Yeah, she needs to get out there and get with a pack.
Okay, last question. If you can go back to one moment in your life, what moment would that be?
And what would you say to yourself? This one was so hard. I was like, are we talking childhood?
Are we talking in Bachelor era? I don't even know. I think I'm being honest, I would probably go back to when we were filming the show. And at the end,
And when I was really torn, when if I should leave or not, and I ended up not really sticking
with my initial gut feeling and staying. And I kind of wish I could have just told myself,
like, no, listen to yourself. And I think that's part of, like, being young, you know,
so I don't, like, regret it. I think there's so many great things that have happened.
And I mean, everything is, there's a lot of positive with a little bit of negative or both.
But I think now looking back, I have grown so much that I would have been like, okay, I need to stick with how I feel.
Yeah.
So, yeah.
And I mean, it's hard in those moments too because you have people in your ear telling you one thing that maybe doesn't have like your best interest or I mean, maybe they think they do.
But maybe they didn't.
Well, perfect.
Well, thanks for joining me.
This is so fun.
I feel like we just like had coffee and like sat down and hung out.
We'll have half cap for next time.
Tap, cap.
