Starting point is 00:00:00 i have a question for the panel can we call ourselves a panel or is it just the show i get a question yeah we're sitting in panel form i think we can call ourselves distinguished men as panel hockey men one of the 200 hockey men that yeah there's only 197 more that's right no i'm kidding um i want to know who's more tired today is jesse blake who stayed up and watched the the four dropped pass game the the chiefs in detroit detroit and then i think and i don't know this for sure but i feel like you probably got up for the fiba game this morning canada serbia right no no i missed i slept uh i slept through canada okay yeah i was i was thinking about it because i was already up till it was like 1 30 when i went to bed after i recorded
Starting point is 00:00:56 it after thursday night yeah because you put a podcast out yeah i had i wanted i had another podcast prepared i think i'm gonna do it for sunday but the game was so much fun like so much happened in that game i was like i can go off on this for 15 minutes and i did um but and then i didn't wake up for canada um serbia and i'm glad i didn't because they lost i would have been pissed yeah no that's fair fair that's fair um and and then the other i was gonna say who was more tired because i thought jesse would have got up i think it we're gonna give it to steve whose kid was up barfing all night uh honestly i got to bed before jesse did oh so he didn't barf all night he just barfed some of the night and also in my car oh it's the now do you have fabric seats in the car
Starting point is 00:01:36 you bet yeah yeah i drove here with the windows down man why didn't you just do some nona seats there uh put some plastic on those things yeah you need some nona seats well he's he's been very good about all that i was saying to jesse like i felt really bad for him but i'm like rubbing his back while he's he was like holding the toilet seat he wanted to go over the toilet and i was just like it's like having a like he's i was pretending like he was hung over i don't know it's the only way i could get through it i'm like this is boring and little leo had too much at the bar yeah oh never doing what's what was your spot in scarborough you guys grown up amigos amigos amigos amigos yeah i wish it was called amigos but yeah it was amigos it
Starting point is 00:02:24 was uh i wasn't there a lot though i was actually um you were at the kilt i was i was at the kilt that which was the pre amigos but we got kicked out of the kilt apparently this isn't the tilted kilt no this is just the kilt okay uh it was run by an angry scottish guy and my band used to play there um and then i guess when i moved to barrier halifax all the all of my friends got into like a fight there i think you were there and then yep and then he said never come back in a very angry scottish way and so they migrated to amigos where they were welcomed openly and i think probably for a few years they're just funded the bar so yeah i used to order steve nachos uh they know what to bring me that's right what is it what is what's a steve nacho it's okay it's nachos what you know
Starting point is 00:03:09 you loaded nachos with the meat and the cheese and everything uh but with more chips because they would always like i think mother i think yeah some places uh there's never a proper ratio right and they would go heavy toppings and i'm like no no i need steve nachos which is more chips a little a little you need a little topping and a lot of chip yeah i i went there so often that i went there for my birthday one year and i just made like a custom order now are you into the soggy chips or no do you avoid the soggy chips how drunk am i i would i mean i guess it depends i guess there's a ratio here well yeah depending upon if they're really soggy but i'm stone sober ew now jesse are you a full yeah i get the fork out i get the fork out with the
Starting point is 00:03:53 with the nachos and i just i finished the whole thing and like we've never addressed this on the show but we have a member of this show who does not like nachos and that's adam wilde me what yeah adam since i've known him he's always he's always discredited nachos yeah because garbage any bar that's going to serve you nachos is serving you stale chips and they're serving you the ingredients that they haven't sold on anything else that's how nachos are made with all the old shit like jack asters has had a great spread of nachos no i have fantastic i've had the pad thai at uh jack asters boston pizza great nachos go down to real sports great nachos everyone has great nachos man man when i was moderating the leafs official chat from the
Starting point is 00:04:38 real sports dj booth that was an actual thing i did for over a year they would feed us but all they would bring us is nachos and i got fat they were great and they were awesome and i regret none of it they were great oh yeah because you know what someone who's working on a keyboard all night you know what you should give them nachos finger on a work laptop it's got to be it's got to be one of your coldest takes of all time adam i know i realize that i'm i'm an outsider on this yeah but for anybody out there who also does not like nachos solidarity we're in this together and and i get it's like that and cilantro i know i am in a minority on cilantro but i i have the genetic whatever that makes it taste like soap i wish that i loved cilantro i really do
Starting point is 00:05:24 because everybody that likes cilantro loves cilantro. I like it because I have different genes, I guess. There's nothing genetic about your nachos hate. No, that's just probably bad taste. It sounds like you just had bad nachos a couple of times. Yeah, usually they are bad though.
Starting point is 00:05:39 That's the problem. You just described nachos like pizza from the old country. Oh yeah, they take the leftovers and they put it on the... What are you talking about? That's what they do. It's not true.
Starting point is 00:05:52 No. that's not they have nacho ingredients totally what they do that's not true the unsold what ground beef well from your cheese yeah from your brother but it's just the ground beef they have no it's not it's not the red they have that they don't want it's not the remnants of burgers like that they don't go to the plates that people leave over and collect the rest of the burgers and they crumble it and they put it in the microwave they're not going through the trash looking for leftover food to put on your nachos, Adam.
Starting point is 00:06:21 Gross. It's gross. You open the door to the kitchen and it's just like half a dozen raccoons making your nachos. What are you talking about? What are you talking about?
Starting point is 00:06:30 It's Ratatouille. It's Ratatouille. The Canadian version. Yeah. Raccoon-touille. No way. That's how they make nachos, according to Adam.
Starting point is 00:06:38 Absolutely not. No, thank you. No thanks on the nachos. We're getting nachos next time. Oh, I'll get wings then. I feel bad for anybody, by the way, who drafted Pat Mahomes uh kelsey or anybody on the chiefs that that game i've never seen a uh one person drop four passes
Starting point is 00:06:55 jesse did you draft did you draft i have kelsey in my main league in my my other fantasy league and i don't care about that one it's gonna be fine uh justin fisher in the sdpn uh league has kelsey who's got my homes he's gonna be fine too uh christina our dp of sales she has my home but my home's had a decent night he put up 20 points he did fantasy points and they'll get him some Okay, so Kadarius Townie dropped four passes, registered negative one rushing yards. That's why he lost. Have you not seen the highlights this morning? No.
Starting point is 00:07:31 I saw the guy do a diving block. The game is a clown show. It's amazing. That's why you love football. You don't love football, but a lot of us do. I love football. It's just there's only 24 hours. True.
Starting point is 00:07:41 Keep writing all my politicians to increase days. jesse can you yes can you ever in a real world not fantasy football world can you ever trust this person to try to catch a pass for you was it one bad day or is this guy got the yips and you got to be careful you got to manage this what do you do i don't like if the nfl is so ruthless that like he might not make it to next week like tony might get cut mid midweek he might get wow at any point like a kick but i think the the chiefs are so thin on wide receiver that they'll run it back with him like tony tony's had these moments when he was with the giants there are moments where you're like oh cadarious has it like he's gonna be a good wide receiver in the league and he's
Starting point is 00:08:18 never been able to stay healthy and put it together so it's in him somewhere and i think they'll they'll give him a shot like they're not gonna be that brutal about it like are we talking about like these were good throws that he should have had yeah there's there's one play the the first drop that he had it was literally in his hands you can watch the replay and it slips through his hands and it goes to the defender and the defender runs it back for a pick six it directly led to a touchdown the second one was a third down play and he if he catches it they have a first down and they're within five yards of scoring a touchdown so they settle for a field goal and then the third big drop was with two minutes to go and if he catches it they're in field goal range
Starting point is 00:08:58 to win the game so he cost them like double digit points he literally and they lost by one point so So he literally, if he catches three balls, they could have, I don't know, 21 more or 15 more points on the board. He directly resulted in the Chiefs loss. It made it sound like if he caught one of them, they win. One catch. You know what I love? So the Detroit Lions head coach after the game,
Starting point is 00:09:22 and by the way, if you do nothing, if you do nothing and watch no football this year, watch every press conference with the Detroit Lions head coach because he is a- Van Campbell. He's nuts. but he's exactly what you would think an American football coach would be like.
Starting point is 00:09:36 He's like, if there's one thing I've learned about my team, pauses. It's that we're resilient. And it's like, if there's one thing you've learned about your team is the other team gave the win away. Like I saw them talking about it on first take
Starting point is 00:09:51 before I came in this morning. And I'm like, they're like, did Detroit make a statement? No, Detroit didn't make a statement. They did. No, you gotta give credit to the Lions. The Lions had a good game.
Starting point is 00:10:01 They hung in there. Drew's going to be on your side. No pass. Nobody, nobody wins a game if one of your key wide receivers drops four passes. Not just four passes, but four passes in the way that he dropped them. No way. Adam, I got bad news about Jose Bautista's bat flip. What's that?
Starting point is 00:10:20 Should have never happened. Why should it have never happened? Because Texas got like three or four errors in the same inning. I've never seen that before. and it happened in a deciding playoff game in favor of my team. No, it's Joey Batts. It's Joey Batts.
Starting point is 00:10:40 The Lions deserve some credit there. David Montgomery, he was terrific running the ball. And if you want a full breakdown of the game, if you want a full breakdown of the game, thank you for the camera, Drew. Yeah. Subscribe to the Jesse Blake Sports Report on your favorite podcast app.
Starting point is 00:10:56 That's right. That's right. Did you make a video last night? yeah after the game i did a post game reaction it was it was really good it's up on the youtube channel it's on the jesse blake sports report feed on on apple or spotify the game or the podcast was really good both yeah i think that what about the intro and also the title of the show the intro that you wrote yeah it's spectacular did he write that you know what yeah you still remember i kind of forgot about it and then i i sat down to watch uh your podcast with julian
Starting point is 00:11:27 a week or two ago and I was just like oh yeah I did that stupid shit you get songwriting credits I can't believe you actually like had that made
Starting point is 00:11:36 you're Sia I am yeah it's cause I have thick skin elastic arms he's a ghost writer that's right
Starting point is 00:11:43 you write hit singles in your spare time he doesn't need dollar bills to have fun tonight no he loves cheap thrills cheap thrills
Starting point is 00:11:52 and nachos and features Sean Paul so let's not forget that oh there you go By the way, Steve Dangle podcast live at the course and clubhouse 525 Welland. You ever made a mistake in the middle of an announcement? I just did. St. Catharines, Ontario, 525 Welland Avenue.
Starting point is 00:12:11 It can't get more St. Catharines than being on Welland Avenue. The tickets are $15. We will be there from 6 to 10. And what's cool about this place is it's a bar, but it also has driving simulators and nachos. And you're going to have to... What does it have? Sorry, I screamed over it. It has golf driver simulators.
Starting point is 00:12:31 Oh, okay. Golf simulators. So you're going to have to go head-to-head with Jesse for the longest drive contest. And we'll have some prizes for that. From 6 p.m. to 18 p.m. What? What's wrong?
Starting point is 00:12:42 We had a number of people reach out to say it's from 6 p.m. to 18 p.m. That's right. Explain for people listening. Well, because the font... Is medieval. It's medieval font. For some reason, it makes the zero in 10 look like an eight.
Starting point is 00:12:55 yeah so it's september 29th you're ready to hang out from 6 p.m to 18 p.m you also you will love it you'll start hearing about one of the uh steve dangle podcast listeners is a video game developer and we've been talking about this outdoor rank hockey heroes video game that he's launching and he's doing a kickstarter here in mid-september we'll start talking about a little bit more next week uh but he's going to set it up in one of the simulators so you can try it and it is like for anybody that played like arcade hockey like nhl 94 or wayne gretzky's 3d hockey or any of that it's three on three it's got a whole story in it um and the actual play is so much fun and um i guess uh steve and jesse and i are getting characters in the game as well which is kind of
Starting point is 00:13:37 but like it's bonkers there's going to be a dangle navy squad uh that you're going to be able to play but this is a uh this is a game that we want to really help support because we want to help support uh indie video game companies uh like this guy is running and frankly um it's a uh you know well you know while we're waiting for the ea nhl game to get a little bit better this is kind of a fun uh fun little one and i think this one should actually take off because it is a really fun game to play of course and well it's only fun to play if they make my character op they got to make me like cliff running that's right i gotta have 120 speed if you want to if you want to peek at the game uh if you go to our youtube channel we actually did a live stream
Starting point is 00:14:18 uh early in the summer i want to say what was it like early july yeah when it was early july maybe uh the four of us uh the three of us plus the creator uh playing the game so you can go watch search that up odr hockey heroes on youtube uh sdp plays it you get hit too much you get turned into a pigeon so that's right you turn into a pigeon there's a beach ball on the ice we're really bad at it like really bad but it who's we you did score a lot i was oh we got our ass kicked yeah we did yeah that's my fault i'm terrible no i was pretty bad too there i am i don't know what happened to my controller why did i stop playing anyway i'm not sure what's going on there not totally sure what what happened there but i think uh okay anyway um so uh we do have
Starting point is 00:15:05 a new we had the rumors of the rasmus darling contract which has not been confirmed yet that was eight years, $10.5 million. That's the rumor, but we still don't know that that's for sure. Really? Yeah, that's not been confirmed yet. But we do have Jake Sanderson's deal. Jake Sanderson,
Starting point is 00:15:18 who fifth overall pick of the Ottawa Senators, eight years, $64.4 million. Jake has 77 career games, four career goals, and a lot of people outside of Ottawa took issue with this contract because of what I told you. Now, I forget the player's name,
Starting point is 00:15:36 but did we not get a six-year contract extension for a player that does not yet have a career nhl goal uh like earlier this year oh man you know what i'm talking about right i do remember i could remember who it was but this is what i'm saying i'm trying to remember the team they played for too yeah yeah no that was wild yeah it was wild now this is a bit of a better bet this is well yeah and so so i wanted to talk about this because i think from the from an outsider's perspective you're like hey i think especially from a lease perspective there is a lot of people gave the leaf shit they gave dubious shit when he committed that much money to matthews nylander and marner when they were coming off 67 point years 40 goal seasons
Starting point is 00:16:17 and marner was coming off a 94 point year um you know they those guys had proven for a long long for two or three years apiece we can put up serious points at the nhl level and we're only going to get better so they took a bet then the salary cap didn't go up in the rest of history Jake Sanderson people are like listen he's got a year he's had a year it's great that he's good but eight years I mean well so the Sens believe in him and we know that because of the eight-year contract that he signed no we know that because they picked him fifth overall and he was pretty good in those 77 games that he played and you might notice might have noticed that um 8.05 million weird number his number is 85 but you you might have noticed uh 8.05 is less than 10.9
Starting point is 00:17:08 11 and 11.6 like so you you talked about the long track record that the leafs big guys had that got they had a resume contract yeah and that's why the number was so high so here are the send's getting ahead of it and they're looking at it going okay well we believe in him enough that we want to lock him up we believed in him enough that uh we picked him fifth overall we don't want to have to pay him more which we're gonna have to do and if he gets injured i i mean it's the same risk today as it would be tomorrow right like any of these guys could get a knee injury at some point that would take them out for their whole career i actually you know maybe unpopular opinion in leafland it's i mean it's a good bet well and i think i think too you got
Starting point is 00:18:02 to remember that um for whatever reason ottawa does struggle to get players that have never played there to play there any player that started there there's a tax yeah any player that starts there though loves it and you look at those senators teams that were really really good in the you know like when they went to the finals and that sort of thing all of those guys who were drafted alfie spezza uh wade redden zadano well zadano char was drafted in the island but you know he was spent significant time there chris phillips um uh you know and you can keep naming names on the you know the senators greats they all loved playing there the fan support when eugene didn't you know eugene alienated a lot of people in the last decade but before that
Starting point is 00:18:41 when the sends were that when the sends were hot the the fans were right there and it seems like they're right back to being excited and fired up again eric carlson never wanted to leave i i think he would have stayed a if they were willing to pay and b if they didn't completely stink yeah i don't think he had a problem no so senator so what i think was going on here is is with the with the ghost contract that i'm sure will appear in the compliment section about who signed the six-year extension without an nhl goal uh matthias samuels that's who you're thinking about that's who i was looking up thank you uh kevin adams with the buffalo sabers okay he's got um two career goals as of right now signed the uh seven year 30 million dollar deal uh back in october of 2022
Starting point is 00:19:26 sabers fans were thrilled is that who you're thinking of yeah yeah that's exactly what i'm thinking wow i remember being like that's weird uh that's suspicious but uh uh but i i think with sanderson too i had to look at the cap percentages because i think we need to start to look at what the percentage of the cap is rather than what the actual number is that's what matters it's it's a it's like a high nine percent so closer to like ten percent this year but it doesn't kick in this year it kicks in next year when it's when we expect the cap to let's just say give or take 87 and a half million dollars which means it'll be 9.2 percent of the cap if it goes up another three million the year after it's at 8.8 percent and that's only year two so it will go down it
Starting point is 00:20:07 could go as low as eight or seven point nine percent in two or three years i was listening to uh the chris johnston show uh talk about it like by the end of this contract the cap's going to be probably well over a hundred million yeah and and so at that point you're like i if this guy is a top four defenseman at that point you would expect to allocate six to seven percent for a salary like that if he's a top two guy yeah you're getting a huge steal you have a one two on the left side of him and shabbat like forever basically yeah that's pretty good because yeah bacho's on a on a long-term deal right he sure is and he's locked up to fifty thousand dollars less yeah i thought it was interesting that's crazy that he took the fifty thousand dollars just to
Starting point is 00:20:51 be the highest paid defenseman so i i tweeted someone about this yesterday because they were talking about like yeah okay now that this has happened to someone on my team it is icky yeah with the the jersey number thing so it's 50 grand per season for eight years so i'm not great at math but that's 400 grand over eight years i want to know after tax escrow and his agents how much money is that how much take-home money is that adam what's the percentage they lose each year to all the fees uh fees and agency whatever they take 30 of of their total salary with escrow agent fees and uh local taxes and that's across the board by the way that's wherever you play that is going to be the case so it's less than 300 grand spread over it's like what 280 over
Starting point is 00:21:38 eight years 30 of 600 is that what you're asking yeah 200 grand that thing 120 30 of 400 000 is 120 oh right 400 i thought it was 600 no no so i'm saying what's left is 280 yeah it's not oh Yeah, it's $400,000 minus $120,000. I don't know. That's one of the things where like, yeah, no, I think it's a good contract and it's a good bet. But I look at it and I'm like, yeah, you needed that? What about $8,085,000? Why are you getting so upset?
Starting point is 00:22:07 I'm just saying. I'm just saying. Why are you so mad? I don't know. I don't know. I mean, what is interesting to me, Jesse, you have their cap-friendly page, right? How much cap space do the Sens have? uh currently they are sitting at uh eight less than a million dollars 895 thousand dollars that's
Starting point is 00:22:27 uh not something we have seen often in recent memory they're spending yep the sins are spending which is um a good sign for the organization and the direction they're going in because yeah it hasn't been like that for a decade oh and over a decade oh michael and lauer is out to he's out to to wreck some lives like he he this team definitely wants to win and that that part of it's exciting i think there are still some things that need to adjust and come into place but the sends are on the rise i don't think that they are the imminent threat to the top of the division that some senators fans would have you believe um but if they're not in the wild card hunt this year i'd be blown away i'd be shocked something bad has to have happened so i was actually thinking about
Starting point is 00:23:13 this yesterday basically every team in the atlantic i think there's reason to believe they'll take a step with the exception of the boston bruins who could probably still make the playoffs if they won 20 fewer games wow that would have to be so be they won 65 yeah fuck that's so true if they won 45 you you need like i don't know half a dozen overtime losses in there i'm gonna probably still get a wild i'm gonna disagree with you on that i don't know that detroit takes a step forward this year well i don't know i listen i could be completely wrong on that but i don't know tell me how they i'm still trying to figure out and i got to do a deeper dive on this i only know surface level shit so detroit fans you can give me shit all
Starting point is 00:24:01 you want because frankly i haven't but like de brin cat we saw his performance in ottawa he he is not the driver he's the finisher nothing wrong with that but that means that a lot of things have to go right he has to have somebody around him all the time feeding him who is healthy and again that's there's nothing wrong with that Larkin's one of the most underrated guys in the I agree but he's better be healthy all year and and they have had problems with that you know they I don't know that like what they I saw a headline today that the Detroit still hasn't learned from the Andrew Cobb situation and I think that they're right. I think like I'm not sure what
Starting point is 00:24:39 JT Comfer and Drew's in there in the room. Drew do you think JT Comfer really changes things for the Detroit Red Wings? No. He shook his head asshole. Do you think Justin Hall really changes things for the Detroit Red Wings? Man that's so freaking weird that contract's so freaking weird.
Starting point is 00:24:55 A defense core of Ben Sherratt Shane Goss Despair, Justin Hall, Jake Wallman Oli Mata, Jeff Petrie and Mr. Moritz sider yeah more at cider outstanding the last year that he's going to be cheap yeah i don't know if that ranks playoff if jake sanderson just got eight million bucks what's more at cider get yeah he's got to be 10 plus that's interesting gotta be 10 well i don't know about 10 plus why
Starting point is 00:25:20 not no he's getting more than doline cider is getting more than doline i guess he would yeah he's been better in the nhl longer because doline took a few years i think you probably start at eight and go up unless he signs like a bridge but like steve steve he won the worky of the year yeah he's been their best defenseman since game one of his career you start at eight i'd be like no we start at nine no no because like jake sanderson no offense to jake but he's not been the best defenseman on the ottawa senator since he started well if you start at eight you can get to nine i think you start at nine you get to ten what i'm saying is i think he gets a minimum of eight unless it's a bridge because bridges are weird and oh yeah fair enough but i think if you
Starting point is 00:25:59 want the full eight years for more it's it's probably similar to like a 10 10 by 8 and he's 22 right now so this this is the age where you sign guys to eight years you don't sign them to eight when they're matthew's age i know it always it comes back to him but everyone's like oh you didn't get eight and i'm like you want you want to get 35 year old austin matthews 15 mil it's a surprisingly older defense core for a team that's rebuilding quote unquote and like even on the offensive side you got the andrew cop deal which is 5.6 till 2027 you got the comfort deal is 28 5.1 till 2028 it's it's not the youngest core in the world and but you also need the older guys to help the younger guys along their journey like you can't just build with younger guys i'm interested
Starting point is 00:26:46 to see how it all plays out because i think they could surprise or they could be really bad they lack of an identity yeah what are they well because like like again a team i keep bringing up because i like what they've done is you look at the devils and they're young and fast as shit and score a bunch and the red wings it just feels like eisenman's sort of been like here's a bunch of men petrie and charlotte are going to be a pain they have that going for them i i still think jeff petrie's got more what i don't understand is how olimata still has gas because i was told in 1516 when he was with Pittsburgh and
Starting point is 00:27:23 that was winding up and he was going to get traded to the Kings or no maybe that was a few years later that he was toast he's 29 he was a bust as a first
Starting point is 00:27:30 round pick 30 I know dude the biggest jersey collection in the world is Olimata's house he's played for if he plays long enough you might challenge Mike
Starting point is 00:27:39 Sillen well he's only had four Penguins Blackhawks Kings Red Wings you're lying no I'm not there's no way Olimata's only played for four teams that's
Starting point is 00:27:47 it you're lying now four is high but yeah there's no i swear he's played for eight teams he's been on four teams in five years in five seasons maybe that's why it feels that way yeah but i like because he only had the two years with the kids i'm i and i may i'm saying this as a compliment this is not a uh i'm not taking shots at olimata people have sounded the death knell of his career several times and yet here he is like continuing to play like delzotto who just retired delzotto for sure man that guy retired according to hockey twitter that guy retired like six years ago yeah he just retired
Starting point is 00:28:22 they just retired him i think yeah no not here anymore not good anymore not gonna see now that guy's got a jersey collection yes yes for sure for sure i think detroit has a better top six than we give them credit for you know now that to bring oh no question yeah oh yeah i thought you meant the uh on d no no in terms of their four group because now that they got um dylan larkin his winger that's going to be Debrinket and they're just going to run show for the next however four years that Debrinket's locked up for like so that Larkin Debrinket pairing
Starting point is 00:28:54 is going to be nice and then on the second line if whatever combination of Comfort and Perron and Lucas Raymond like they got a good six so garbage last year like I think hey this is back hey yeah he was he was back Jesse that trades not working out yeah
Starting point is 00:29:10 the the yeah the Tavares for fucking Lucas raven uh billy husso alex line and james reimer are the guys you know obviously husso is going to be the starter but alex lion who was a good reason why the panthers made uh the playoffs at all last year um i i think that's an interesting combo i don't know like james reimer might be one of those guys that ends up on uh like as the third goalie right on waivers but maybe goes unclaimed there's gonna be a bunch of guys who have been like starting goalies or backups at minimum in recent memory who are going to be on waiver well like the leaf like a few weeks the leafs have one
Starting point is 00:29:47 leafs will probably i assume martin jones is going to go on waivers one of ryan or lion is going to go on waivers i think lion's going to beat out rhymer on that one it's no offense to rhymer it's just i think lion's a good goalie the habs still have alan de smith and montembeau uh the flyers have was it urson heart and uh they have cal peterson i remember oh yeah i forgot about yeah Because they made that trade. That's right. Cal Peterson. Listen, Cal Peterson's a story.
Starting point is 00:30:18 He's like Philip Zedina type story. Like Philip Zedina, who was like, you know what, Detroit, I won't take your $2 million or $4 million over the next two years. I would rather sign for a million bucks in San Jose and get a shot. Well, he went. Which I love. He went from like guy to worst goalie in the NHL, like by a wide margin. In a month.
Starting point is 00:30:38 Like, yeah. October, last year. I wouldn't be shocked if he bounced back. Well, and Philly's a great place to do it because if you steal some wins... Philly's a horrible place to do it. No, no. If you steal some wins at Philly,
Starting point is 00:30:49 you're going to look extra good and your numbers still might be shit. But it's not hard to look good based on the goaltending they've had. It's a low bar. It's a pretty low bar. And Philadelphia has been snakebitten for goaltenders since, what, John Van Biesbroek?
Starting point is 00:31:02 Like, they've had it... You know, Briz Galov had a good year or two. Boucher had a good year or two. But that's Philly's problem. It's like the Leafs never have a great defense core. I'm trying to think of their last all-star. I don't know if Hart was... are you telling me roman checkmanic the chick magnet was are you telling me he wasn't you're
Starting point is 00:31:19 right i forgot about roman checkmanic sorry i think it was mike toth used to when he did the highlights i've heard that name in a long time he used to get on roman checkmanic the chick magnet with the safe mike toth was fantastic at just doing highlights yeah that's a dude who's really good at highlights i don't know i'm gonna google mike toth when i was when i was an intern um And he was one of the guys where I was like, that's Mike Tove. Yeah. I got him a month. You know who else has that kind of lore around them,
Starting point is 00:31:50 just from sports television and the GTA? John Liu. I was about to say. Yeah, you have that feeling too? When I went on my first ever flight, which was December 2009, I went to Regina for the Team Canada announcement for the 2009 World Juniors. you know again there's all these famous players like jordan eberly's there um nazem kadri was there and i think he had just been picked by the least but the the guy i was like flustered by i
Starting point is 00:32:20 was like that's john lou john lou reporting live from montreal the television yeah so there i need to gather up courage to say hello to the television just hello hello mr lou i'm a big fan i don't know if i've ever uh i don't think i've ever met him no i would i think i'd still be flustered to see yeah he's uh he's doing something else now who's like he's in a different market i'm pretty sure winnipeg he works with my buddy oh yeah okay there are a lot of mike totes uh but none of them are the mike totes that we are looking for uh i'm even looking for like i looked at the linkedin page that it linked me to on in google uh and it linked me to several mike totes who are not the mike totes you're going deep you're going too deep we're doing a search did you go
Starting point is 00:33:06 the wikipedia page what's his wikipedia page say uh as of december 2009 toth joined news talk 1010 but i assume that's they do not have morning sports announcers on news yeah that was a long time ago so we don't that's the most recent they don't have a lot of i think they're mostly syndicated now so um yeah anyway all right well shout out to mike toth um so uh this is interesting today eric angles tweeted out this morning that joel quinville and stan bowman were at the gm meetings in chicago the pre-season gm meetings in chicago and apparently they're there to tell you other gms and coaches and hockey personnel how to deal with situations like the one they didn't deal with which landed them in the position that they're in that they are on the outside looking in
Starting point is 00:33:52 and i and it this feels to me like like in theory it's a good idea but it also feels a little bit like the NHL's version of Beyond Scared Straight. Like, you remember that? They used to do that with kids that were like poorly behaved kids and that was a show on A&E and they would just bring them to a prison and the prisoners would scare the shit out of them.
Starting point is 00:34:12 Yes. That's literally what this feels like. And so I guess Eric Engels did get the chance to catch up with Joel Quinville later and asked him what he was there to speak about and Joel was obviously not going to tell him. So he said, I can't speak about that. But that's what they're talking about today.
Starting point is 00:34:26 and part of me wonders if this is part of what the nhl views as the penance for them coming back now from what i understand they may have taken some classes and i'm sure all of this will come to public light so it's speculative at this point um so i just want to put that out there i don't want to i don't want to say that we know because nobody knows but the it's interesting that they're having these guys talk about it because on one hand you're like why are these guys i'm sure there's a lot of people like why are these guys involved in the game uh at all on the other hand who better who better to talk about how serious this shit is than two guys that won a bunch of cups were the toast of the game and now are not allowed to even get a job in the game you know
Starting point is 00:35:18 part of me is i'll be back in five seconds i i agree and i think that this is the setup for them to come back oh it's it's this is a part of it but absolutely but if you're a if you're an nhl general manager remember alan vigno that famous quote like there you know there was the the enormous protests uh you know the black lives matter protests george floyd protests in the summer of 2020 um and i remember and alan vigno's like i don't watch the news i only watch hockey you remember that god yeah like alan come on you you know i know you got cnn on at some point like you're not a moron um unless you are uh and so for these people that have have gotten away from who have used hockey as an excuse to not handle these situations
Starting point is 00:36:04 quinville and bowman are two of the most successful people the last 20 years in the game and they are they are in front of a room of people right now going we really fucked up and here's how you don't fuck up i think in theory that sounds like a good idea now i'm sure that a bunch of people are going to tell me why that's not a good idea or why you shouldn't hear from them or whatever but i will tell you from my perspective from just reading that this morning and not having a whole ton of time to digest it i mean that whether or not they come back to the game right now is immaterial to me um i want to hear from the people that really failed the game on and and i want them out there saying this is why you don't want to repeat my mistakes i think that is actually
Starting point is 00:36:45 a good idea i'm i'm mostly interested uh in quenville like i am i am curious what he's saying um of course and the reason for that isn't because like i think he's a great coach or like he should be back in the league or whatever it's because he he has paid so like little publicly for his role in all this maybe paid so little isn't the right way to say it because he did lose his job but what maybe you're saying so little yeah he taken responsibility so little if we remember how that those final days of his time in florida played out he got to choose the his last game he got to do one last goodbye game and then got to yeah i remember everything was happening and then they're like why are you coaching he's like i don't know we'll address
Starting point is 00:37:38 that later and he got to do his last game and all that stuff so it feels like he never paid a penance to the public because he wasn't like taken out of his role he kind of walked away himself so here's uh it's difficult to remember all the details but these are quenville's words you know uh about the kyle beach thing i first learned of these allegations through the media earlier this summer quenville said tuesday in a statement uh the panthers provided i have contacted the blackhawks organization and let them know i will support and participate in the independent review out of respect for all those involved i won't comment further uh while this matter is before the courts so that's a lie we know it's a lie it's provably a lie i mean the the best defense
Starting point is 00:38:25 he would have is he didn't remember it but uh you know again i'll remind you the way i reminded you so many months ago and this is a very harsh way of putting it but quenville gave an endorsement of brad aldrich um we don't know if it was signed um but he gave an endorsement and brad aldrich used that endorsement where he then got a job at a school and assaulted a minor right this is a guy who should have i mean you want to talk about people who should have never been anywhere near a hockey team or you know fucking anybody uh for a very long time i am very curious what quinnville has to say i am too i am too you talk about a guy who better have some satisfactory words and you know but i think i think that because we're talking about two
Starting point is 00:39:19 different things in in my view and the reason i i say that is i think you need to have those people as an example to the people inside the game to understand that there are consequences for their actions what quinnville and bowman's persona is or the general public's response to that that is a separate issue to me i do think it's a good idea for the nhl to come in and say listen this shit is unacceptable these two guys uh fucked up they're gonna tell you how they fucked up they're gonna tell you what it's done since and and and the the shit that they got to carry with them the rest of their life and and that to me is going to help change the game but i think you're right when you have for the public side of it when they want to get a job back in the nhl
Starting point is 00:39:59 then i think that's a whole different story do you see what i'm saying yeah it does that make sense in terms of because i don't think these two are necessarily linked if quinville and bowman don't work in the nhl again i still think this was a conversation worth having that the nhl needed to do well you can't have this happen again ever what usually happens well either it gets swept under the rug and they get their next job no problem or they just go away forever like i would kind of i don't know i i mean what one of the things uh you know i was listening to jesse blake sports report oh but it's a great show jesse oh oh thank you but so flustered the great steve dangle thinks it's a great but like one of the things you and julian spoke about with uh regard to bill peters
Starting point is 00:40:45 and what he said and left lethbridge is neither neither you really believed any of it you know the the crocodile tears or whatever um i you know i would like to it'd be great if he said something genuine that we all believed well i think what we found out is that bill peters has more friends in hockey than akima lu oh dear that was a friend's contest and i think we know well right and this is this is why i think it's important that people who were powerful who were you know you're talking about the chicago blackhawks here we're talking about the wurtz family who are top of the line executives not just in their own organization but they are in the executive council and and bill wurtz senior uh and and rocky wurtz and all
Starting point is 00:41:37 these guys they they've been running the league since like the 30s the wurtz family has been there forever and so for this to happen at that organization um you know that you couldn't get a more well-connected hockey group than these guys and i feel like um at very least they have to do penance fucking bill peters did one press conference never even attempted to apologize until like a week before like that what so nothing was gained from that adam devil's advocate please on what you just said there because you're saying how you think it's probably a good idea for quenville and bowman to go talk to these guys so they look how i fucked up yes that's what it should be if it's a friends contest and you're inviting these guys back to the group of friends
Starting point is 00:42:19 you're bringing them back to the lunch table to chat with the guys on their experience wouldn't it be better to have somebody like kyle beach talk to them and not is it god is it damn isn't it hurting the game by having quenville and bowman around the the top nhl gms and coaches who are all there it's mandatory isn't that just hey we're all buddies again and you're endearing them back to this this group who will let them back into their friend group i think i think shit i think i knock my socks off yeah i think you're right i think you're right now whether or not kyle beach would do it as a separate matter right uh whether or not he wants to go have to do that in front of a room of people room full of people that's a lot to put on a victim i think he's but there
Starting point is 00:43:01 doesn't need to say anymore there are other people who like if you brought up rick west had to talk to them would that well would that be hl's not doing that i know but is that not more Or is that not the correct way we should go instead of bringing back these guys who maybe we get in a situation where one day they're like, you know what? I saw Quenville last week, you know, and I feel bad for the guy. Let me go try and get him. No, I think that's an unbelievably insightful point. And I think you're absolutely right. I think you're absolutely right.
Starting point is 00:43:30 I think there are better ways to do this. Like I said to you, like I've had an hour to digest it. And but I think you're absolutely bang on the money. My perspective, consider me shifted. doesn't mean that they still shouldn't have the conversation yeah but i also think that that as i mentioned before this is part of the beginning of the press tour to bring them back yeah all right and i did say that before i get fucking twitter clipped here no adam i think you're coming at it from the perspective of someone who wants to believe the best in people yeah and the best
Starting point is 00:44:01 intentions right um you try you i mean you're trying to rationalize something that i mean listen the first first i saw that news i was like that's who you picked yeah the here's the other thing that that pisses me off with the blackhawk situation and then you know we can drop it uh is that the guy most responsible for this has has to do nothing uh and that is john mcdonough that's the guy that was running the team uh that was the guy that said at the meeting i'll handle this took it out of the hands of the gm took it out of the hands of the coach took it out of the hands of the assistant gms who and the player personnel heads who apparently knew nothing that guy doesn't have to do shit well i think that that is unjust and unfair i can't stand that part of it i agree
Starting point is 00:44:48 with you i also just thought it was pathetic that you know stan bowman like i'm afraid of him well i got no power in the situation that's bullshit shovel day off like might as like might as well not have been on the payroll because he had so little to do with it and mark bergevin fucking the head of everything didn't know anything like i don't know stop i think you're right i think you're right i just think it sucks that this fucking guy doesn't he gets off scott free i think that sucks it's my personal opinion whatever um the other thing that we have to talk about and uh this this i'm going to tell you something honestly here what we're about to tackle is extremely sensitive and frankly uh i'm not even going to mention the names of the particular
Starting point is 00:45:29 players in this situation it's been making the rounds on twitter and we need to start this conversation with um the 2018 world junior uh team canada uh situation um uh frankly it was a an alleged gang rape that's what's called what it is um eventually we're going to find out what the findings were from the london police now um it's kind of i've heard from somebody that said it was unprecedented that this was reopened because remember they investigated it then they closed it and now they're reopening it and now it's taking a really long time for them to come to this you know whatever the whatever happened we were going to get some something from them the nhl uh being the nhl can't send these people to jail the only thing that they're going to be
Starting point is 00:46:20 able to do is suspend players that's all they're going to be able to do we do know that last night several players from that team some of them had already done this but notable players had put their instagrams on private they were either put on private previously or last night and some of them disabled comments yeah so to which is something frankly i wouldn't blame any nhl player from doing so to speculate that this is the reason why is first off i think it's human i do think it's human it's a hundred percent to be curious but it's also irresponsible in a public form to come out and go these guys did this it must be because of this i i don't know what other reason it could be you can't do that there was a lot of extrapolating a hundred percent and i get
Starting point is 00:47:08 it i get it it's just irresponsible and it's not helpful especially to the victim uh we got to wait for the for these things to come out and we want it to come out yeah but what i can tell you is this katie strang the unstoppable katie strang uh did call the london police this morning they say the investigation is active and ongoing she also got in touch with bill daly at nhl head office and he said there was nothing to report on their end we thought we all thought privately in in this room that that at some point this summer we were going to come back and have to talk about this uh because we figured it was going to come out in the in in in the summer there was a day uh weeks ago where i was like all right here it comes and like we were all talking about it we were like is this
Starting point is 00:47:53 you know we're kind of sitting there yeah and it never happened so it's i mean so what i tweeted today the first pre-season game is in 16 days training camps open i don't know but extreme extremely soon oh i don't know what you do here the nhl knows who the players are 100 like i'd be very surprised if they didn't my assumption is they know who the players are if you know this is coming any day now how do you how do you bring them to camp but also but also from a legal standpoint you can't how don't you that's the thing is that they can't the nhl cannot do anything until the london police do something this is all on the london police it's such a mess yeah i think there's some there's some views that it's just
Starting point is 00:48:41 kind of the hockey side of it and that hey the nhl can suspend everybody but there's also a criminal investigation going on here and the nhl can't do anything until the criminal investigation has some results and that's what it is what it is so i just i think it's important that we talk about that though and get that out in the open because i think we we do need to set the parameters of what is going to happen here. You're going to hear from the London police first. Then you will hear from the NHL.
Starting point is 00:49:09 And whatever the NHL has, if there's punishments handed down or whatever, is going to pale in comparison to whatever the London police have because it starts and ends with them. Because this is a real-world situation. Yes.
Starting point is 00:49:22 And also, it's not something that happened on the ice. This is a real-world situation. So you have to wait for the real-world organization because the NHL is fantasy. We all know that. That's why we love it.
Starting point is 00:49:32 uh we have to wait for the real world situation to play out and um and again listen i can't stop people from tweeting what they're going to tweet but i do feel like you know if you hear it to i understand if like people text their friends ago this is interesting i get that but i just feel like doing it shooting it off in a public forum is just not it's not good it's not helpful probably shouldn't be doing this isn't a player whose name you've probably heard over the months uh with regard to this all of a sudden they throw one of their social platforms on private i mean yeah i wonder i i 100 understand why that is um what's the word interesting uh or whatever newsworthy i don't know about newsworthy though because you can't you can't do it publicly i i'll say it's
Starting point is 00:50:24 okay by the way yeah i know we're we're in the we're in the world of instant right it's okay not to have a fucking take on this yet yeah it's okay to let this play out it's okay to just not even a take i don't well no but there are everybody wants is right into the first take yeah they got takes which is what you probably i think this that's the take we do that all the time and i think you don't need to take them good intention of course it's good intention we all want the same thing we want justice served but it's it's at the end of the day this one is real world this is not this is not should this guy be playing on the second or third line and in terms of what katie strang reported the london police said and bill daly said i mean that could change in an hour
Starting point is 00:51:02 yeah could change in a month man by the time this episode comes out it could be dated right we don't know hope not but uh i was about to say what the fuck would we do we'd have to re-record i think um okay leo's gonna have to stay at his grandparents a little longer that's okay switching back to fantasyland and i realize that it's a hard right turn but you know that's what we got to do um this is these are the these are the swings of covering hockey we're opposite nascar uh khl right turns matt bay mitchcoff i haven't seen this much interest in the khl in in like a decade since kovalchuk left matt bay mitchcoff's first three games in the khl following being drafted by the flyers it's according to bleacher report healthy scratch healthy scratch 6-12
Starting point is 00:51:48 advice time oh dude they're the worst did he do anything like did he score an assist did he have a shot on goal i don't know i don't know that's nothing nothing like i'm trying to figure out what's worse like because the khl will do that there we we grew up where the fourth line gets like four minutes five minutes and it's full of goons the khl you couldn't risk putting putting them on the ice any longer than no because they were but the the the KHL still does that but with like skilled players who just
Starting point is 00:52:26 happen to be young but also not all of them like because there's a younger player on St. Petersburg Demidov Demidov. Yeah, I think it is. Yeah, this is playing. I mean if you're I wondered if this is
Starting point is 00:52:42 the is this a because the Flyers already have issues with the KHL. Is this a Flyers thing? Is this an NHL thing? Is it a North America a thing is it a political statement i don't actually know what's trying what's being served here because i don't think um oh it's i don't think ska is being it doesn't have to be like a political statement it probably there's the i mean for all the criticism we give the nhl the khl wildly more uh political there's there's a player i'm trying to look up uh yeah yeah so there's a very notable Leaf
Starting point is 00:53:18 prospect. This is part of the reason I'm passionate about this. There's a notable Leaf prospect in recent memory who was in the OHL, doing okay, but decided, you know what? I want to go play pro. And I'm going to go play pro in Europe, and I'm going to
Starting point is 00:53:34 go play pro in my home country. And it, in my opinion, completely fucked their career. Second round pick, 2017, Emily rassanen oh wow six foot five 203 pounds according to hockey db i i remember seeing him listed as six six six seven right-handed defender like you talk about at the time exactly the sort of player
Starting point is 00:53:59 the leafs needed picked in the same draft as lilligren so you're like holy shit you get a lilligren rassanen one two in the draft the right side is fixed forever he was in the ohl did okay after his draft year the second year took a bit of a step back but you know played in the playoffs he was he was on a really good kingston front next team then he went to the khl uh to play for yoker it and disappeared just ride the pine kid have some fun the khl website's a little little difficult to read but i finally got there uh mitchkov in that game where he played 612 zero shots on goal uh zero 12 is nothing zero anything no stats except for six minutes and 12 seconds of time on ice cool this is it's we we've run down the last two episodes who's above him in
Starting point is 00:54:54 this situation and who's in charge and who's been appointed to these boards and the head coaches and the presidents of these federations who are making these decisions and it seems like he's being punished for being drafted into the nhl and wanted to play for the flyers he was very literally one of the best offensive players in the continental hockey league last year as a teenager like and and i went through how rare that is how rare of a talent he is so the idea that like ah he's just got to pay his dues or whatever like it's just not true it's just not true so unless he's being punished for something he did which i think might have been get drafted by the fire yeah yes wanting to be in north america yeah it's no it's completely ridiculous yeah look at look at the
Starting point is 00:55:38 time on ice from any game of from last season it's they're all 15 plus this is a very good player who plays a lot of minutes and he's being punished like i would like to i would like to i would love to call jp perry somehow get him like veritaserum from harry potter get him the truth serum and and i want to know if this guy can leave that's my main question can he leave the country can he get on a plane to dubai which you have to do if you want to go to like to go to north america it like my my buddy's dad is from iran and he needed to go back to iran to get to iran you got to go through the uae i think to get to russia is the same thing you got to come through um the uae a very limited number of countries i think turkey might be one of them yeah and even
Starting point is 00:56:22 And that's strained at the moment. So, you know, can he get on a plane, get to Dubai, and then get to Philadelphia? So the IIHF, as we outlined last episode, said that Ivan Fedotov can leave. And Russia said no. Well, they said he doesn't. So they didn't say he could leave because that's up to Russia, right? Right, I guess, yeah. They said the contract that he has in North America is the correct contract.
Starting point is 00:56:46 And the one in Russia isn't the correct one. Like, it's not valid. that guy we abducted wants to play here and and they just said no no we made our own call like so i like whether he he wants to leave or doesn't like i don't think mitch kov has a say in this matter i've i've criticized coaches for making moves that to me don't make any sense so let me just say any decision uh any lineup decision in the khl that doesn't have mitch kov in your top six is completely fucking stupid and the decision of someone who's not qualified to work in the sport yeah but roman rottenberg is not qualified to be a peewee coach he knows a
Starting point is 00:57:29 couple guys yeah you think you think no madvei mitchkov is he might be one of the best goal scorers not in the nhl and he's played 612 in three games unbelievable it's uh it's wild it's nightmare if you're a Flyers fan more well everything's a nightmare if you're a Flyers fan you're living a nightmare uh you are I mean it's not wrong you are it's a nightmare it's an absolute night Flyers fans are like we like the Czech uh the sure I hope Cal Peterson works out for us this year would be great to not finish well it'd be great to finish last but I sure hope Cal Peterson works out like you don't like more Oranger they're uh they're New Jersey's oh they're fun they are fun
Starting point is 00:58:13 Flyers fans are really funny and take it from a Leaf fan you need good humor to get through years like this yes yes yes American forwards Abby Roke this is according to Haley Salvian American forwards Abby Roke and Alex Carpenter and Canadian defender
Starting point is 00:58:31 Micah Zandy Hart will be announced as the first three players signed with New York in the PWHL and then Boston so I boston man always is there any off the board picks there adam hillary knight what megan keller and aaron franklin and i i just want to say that uh boston montreal and toronto are both they're all that's looking like a pretty vicious three teams don't count out ottawa ottawa their their picks were really good or their signings i should say sorry all right
Starting point is 00:59:03 their cax would you get paid by her to say that you know there's 10 clients in the league that i really like and they're all hers noted cax client yeah get the mug we need we need mug um by the way agent off but i would do a show together yeah business or like the agent newly wed game or something like that you know i don't know how you do that but it'd be like you know you test them on cba questions i um by the way uh like yes i'm biased it's sdpn uh i i we do a bunch of shows and i think they're all good that's why we put them on um the the everything you need to know episode of noxian cax finally got around to listening to it holy shit it's crazy huh it's so good the the the brian burke stuff is really good but the the anecdotes of how
Starting point is 01:00:03 little the players wanted are crazy crazy like and they went to the table expecting to have to fight tooth and nail uh for these things and and luckily the people they were negotiating with were like well yeah no of course they're like please we don't want to eat gas station sandwiches pay for parking pay for parking that was a big one yeah and uh if our stick breaks we want to have another one waiting for us on the bench and they're like yeah but these are all things they had to fight tooth and nail for yeah oh yeah and did i hear cac slip in all their arenas which haven't been announced yet need to have a minimum of 4 000 seats they got to be more than mullet arena oh my god it's three to five thousand i believe is the answer gotta be more than
Starting point is 01:00:56 they didn't talk about mullet no adam that that's just just so everybody's aware they did not use that in negotiations that is adam injecting that into the conversation it's just a fact gentlemen just a fact anyway it's a really good episode now they're hoping to play out of three like their home games out of like three to five thousand seat arenas which is great but the The big thing about the game is going to be the neutral site games, I think, when they can get it at Scotiabank. I'm really hoping for, fingers crossed, that someone at MLSC takes this idea or already has it.
Starting point is 01:01:31 You do the triple Saturday game. Triple? You get the Marlies in there at noon. You get the PWHL Toronto team in there at three. It's going to take some time to not say that. You're going to get them in at three, and you're going to get the Leafs in at seven. I want the triple hockey game at Scotiabank on a Saturday.
Starting point is 01:01:50 I like that. You know? I feel like those neutral site games where you can inject, you can get the local NHL team involved in that, or if you do some bigger venues and all this stuff, or you just travel, you do a game in LA or some fun stuff like that. Those are going to be really helpful in growing the game, and that's what I'm really excited for.
Starting point is 01:02:06 I'm into it. I don't know if the ice crew is into it, but I'm into it. They already do the double games. Yeah. Just throw in one more. Ah, screw it. do it go for it mls you got enough money yeah fair well yeah they have enough money because they refuse to give any of it away yeah i mean that's that's their thing also people get rich
Starting point is 01:02:28 not cheap i am seeing people who are like upset that you know they had hockey in their markets before maybe with the phf and and they don't have a team anymore um and i understand that i get that sucks and that fucking sucks but give them a little bit of time let them cook uh because i i would imagine that six teams is not the goal it's not the end goal most businesses i'll get i'll use us for an example most businesses take a long time to expand our case it was eight and a half years eight eight and a half years before we really started to even add like another show and that was like a huge lift for us how about uh what was it 14 years to get an editor on on lfr yeah so just let let the the women's league let them establish let's establish
Starting point is 01:03:20 profitability let's make sure this is sustainable there's a bazillion great hockey markets where they're gonna want a team it's gonna happen it's gonna happen no no the best practices in business start way too big and retract literally if you want so it feels like like the we work have you seen that document or not documentary but with ann hathaway where like no and hathaway and the other guy and they the we work thing on netflix you guys have to watch it it's is it a movie it's like a movie but it's like a docudrama okay and it's bonkers like those and it's all true that's the crazy part it's not even like social network where it's somewhat true it's totally all this shit happened we used to work like next to the head office right at no you're just a we work
Starting point is 01:04:04 building oh that wasn't no i thought they're canadian no they're san francisco man oh no i know nothing about yeah oh yeah they they're it's a you guys have got a while oh that's just a we work location that's just one of where you can we work together yeah okay where you can rent a boardroom build build build build sell crash burn that's it that's yeah yeah no we do not want that Start small, grow from there. Now, one of the things that I'm sure you remember from the NHL video games, especially early on in the 2000s,
Starting point is 01:04:34 was being able to- Testicle injuries. Customized. Yeah, that was actually true, yeah. Hernia injuries too, a lot of hernias. But the one that I thought was always interesting was when you could finally edit your equipment. You could personalize the skates and the stick or whatever.
Starting point is 01:04:50 One of the things that you saw a lot in NHL 2004 through 2006 was, the yellow marty st louis easton stick or sorry bauer stick easton it's easton it is easton yeah um and careful with oh no well bauer hockey owns these yeah yeah sorry that was the synergy stick and it is back baby it's available this year you can buy one uh bauer has brought it back i think it's pretty sick um bauer's bringing back the eastern because they own the brand there you go yeah so these sticks were like had to have this um you know really important especially my league level which was house league everybody needed to have a yellow stick it looks like he's
Starting point is 01:05:29 holding a lightning bolt it does it does actually it's kind of fitting for marty st louis in that one is that why you did it maybe maybe it's why you did it um a spectacular looking stick goes with every jersey for no reason at all uh and i'm so glad to see it back i hope it has the same flex that it used to i love the crowd in the background of every goal celebration photo can you go back to that jesse look at the high five going on behind him look at the mullet going on behind him that's a mustache and a mullet that whoa that's a beauty right there that is a he was also afraid that the person who was giving him a high five was going to hit him in the face look he's moving his head away from the high five he is very not convinced he's concerned
Starting point is 01:06:09 yeah like beer cup guy picking his nose or is he just has his hand up like oh shit what a goal he's fixing his glasses i don't know he's got a booger picker nice try drew he's picking i like this couple too they look like oh they're hugging adorable they're gonna make some whoopee tonight yeah that was a little that's too much i want to know why is that one girl that one person there she she's just sitting down she's like oh she's hitting the glass oh yeah i'm like what is she doing no i didn't get up for this that's clearly it was a great goal the guy who scored the goals right there i don't know sorry i just love people watching in goal celebration photos absolutely i want to know what jersey that is barth bar is it a custom job this one what is it i need to know
Starting point is 01:06:57 i think it feels like a custom job sorry every time you go oh yeah there's a photo of martin st louis no hey jesse if i'm looking at the people in the first five rows can you look at the uh boards i want to see you the ads on the boards let's see new york time no that that would be that feels like the tampa bay times oh yeah that doesn't make sense and valpac savings i wonder what valpac savings was what are they doing now they're advertising type in valpac.com visit valpac.com that's what it says use code saint louis for 10 off of whatever a valpac is what are they valpac i'm gonna go with i'm gonna go with uh um taxes they do taxes it's why does valpac have an so first off you go to the go to the google valpac and i don't even jesse i want
Starting point is 01:07:45 you to bring this up on the screen because um this is good content this is good content this is really good content what yeah why is big bank theory up there and bazinga you could win 10 grand and then there's bargain block and unsellable houses with hgtv what is happening so it's i guess it's where you can get local coupons for wherever you so you like ace hardware and home depot and macy's and jc penny guys i think the ad from 20 years ago might not be around anymore does jc penny exist i think they're a new company oh no maybe they're the same company because it said get savings and stuff right so it might have been a coupon company back then but they definitely pivoted is jc penny still around i thought they were that they were struggling
Starting point is 01:08:29 anyway no no what are we doing that we're finding out about valpac ads work even 20 years later keep it moving well all right fine three shows in four days uh okay okay so we're gonna i want to ask you guys this okay okay so have you ever wanted to ask the owner of your team something yes okay if you were to ask larry tannenbaum larry t uh anything what would it be when was the last time you had craft dinner if ever oh that's a good why why craft dinner i don't know you put me on the spot he's a billionaire do billionaires eat craft dinner and also any billionaires that listen to this show how much do you think it costs when was the last time you stepped foot in a grocery store oh that's a good question there you go uh there are people in the
Starting point is 01:09:11 tens of millions that don't know what groceries cost you ask celebrities what milk costs they have no idea it's a banana how much could it be ten dollars so i jesse want you to play this video the dallas cowboys are going to allow you to talk to jerry jones who is the most famous owner in the nfl but there's a stipulation and i think i think you're going to be blown away by this because it's cartoony i was looking at uh bill gates guesses prices of things with ellen oh then we can go through that after that that might be worth going through uh oh my that is actually you know what i know people hate on ellen but that she had some good bits that's a good bit so wait these are screened questions no watch the video okay so this is this is the jerry jones watch the jerry
Starting point is 01:09:57 jones okay okay and i headed back to dallas and within a matter of weeks i bought the dallas why did you choose at&t to be your naming rights partner the reason Shut up! Shut up! So, the Cowboys have unveiled an AI-driven hologram of Jerry Jones at AT&T Stadium. Fans can ask about his life, college at Arkansas, owning the Cowboys.
Starting point is 01:10:23 The technology can generate multiple responses, creating a lifelike version of Jerry Jones. This is from Ari Mirioff, MySportsUpdate on Twitter. Fuck right all the way off. so why did you choose if you're listening to this it's like tupac at coachella tupac at coachella like 10 years ago except that jerry's in the wall he's a hologram and it's like you're talking to a picture from harry it looks like he's sitting inside of an elevator yeah it does so go ahead and press play jesse i just want you i remember because these are not screened to be sure no no
Starting point is 01:11:01 these are natural questions that people definitely want to ask i love that somebody was like why did you choose at&t as your advertising partner as though an average fan gives a shit and i headed back to dallas and within a matter of weeks i'd bought the dallas cowboy why did you choose at&t to be your naming rights partner the reason at&t stadium is at&t stadium is because to me at&t was like saying America. Fucking shut up! And I wanted Dallas Cowboys, America's team, to be associated with Alexander Graham Bell and AT&T.
Starting point is 01:11:41 Oh my goodness. That definitely was not brought to you by AT&T. Not at all. Well, I think it was a part of the package, you see, for America's team. I'm Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys. My question's so much better. Jerry, have you ever had Kraft dinner?
Starting point is 01:11:57 Well, you see, Steve, macaroni and cheese is American. If I did, I would order it on Amazon. I would order it from AT&T. And I would do so with Prime because I have the... Dude, what the... I would order it on Prime, which I'm allowed to access because AT&T does our internet. Oh, my God. Isn't that wild?
Starting point is 01:12:18 No, it's mild. That is the most mild thing I've ever seen. Yeah, I thought that was pretty... I thought it's like, it's, it's an idea. I'm just not sure if it's a good idea here. So I went to something once where they did, uh, screened questions, which are the worst. It is the only time I've ever been a part of something with screen questions and I'm still mad about it.
Starting point is 01:12:45 So my wife and I were, I think we were getting ready to go somewhere. I got invited to an event. I got invited to an event. I know this story. That Eric Carlson was going to be at. Yep. And this was the summer that it was rumored Eric Carlson was going to be traded any moment now. From the Sens to whoever.
Starting point is 01:13:07 So I raced down there and I'm like, here's where we're going instead. Because it was like a cocktail thing. And I was like, we'll go to dinner after. Because I was trying to make it, you see. And I got Rogers to send a camera down there. And I get there. And so this event was for a clothing company. Okay.
Starting point is 01:13:27 I will not name the clothing company. Can I? Go ahead. No, I don't want to do that. There you go. It was for a clothing company. Hollister. And we get down there.
Starting point is 01:13:36 Can you imagine? Aeroplane. Hi, I'm Eric Carlson, and I'm in high school in 2004. Juicy. Juicy couture. Like, yeah. Fat farm. Exo.
Starting point is 01:13:49 Yeah. Stitches, baby. Also Echo. whenever it's hot we got stitches all right hot spot yep sorry go continue continue it was a clothing company and we get down there and they're like as soon as we got down there so i rushed down there because i'm gonna ask eric carlson some questions and i got a rogers camera down there because we're gonna ask eric carlson some questions and there were some other reporters there because we're gonna ask eric carlson some questions and someone walks up to me who was in charge of the
Starting point is 01:14:18 event and they tell me to keep the questions to fashion only and this is days before he's traded to san jose oh it was like probably seven two hours before yeah like it's imminent this is the only thing anybody's ever talking about with eric carlson he's doing this public appearance and it's crazy that anybody has access to now let me ask you something you obviously had to keep the questions to fashion before we find out what you actually asked a lot of people would just say well fuck them why don't you just ask whatever you want so you had to like a third grader write your question down and put it in a box and then they would pick it out read it yeah you couldn't ask and people who think like that oh i just go ask him are you gonna ruin your career for this
Starting point is 01:15:03 yeah because you ruin a relationship like that like you can ask you weren't allowed to just walk up to him yeah you can do that but you can do it once and then you'll never get the interview again Before someone who has like half a foot and 50 pounds on you. Yeah, kicks you out of there. Clotheslines you and throws you out of the building. As you mentioned earlier, the hockey industry is a friend's industry and you can ruin a lot of friends by doing something rogue and stupid like that. Yeah, hi, I'm here with Sportsnet credentials and I'm here to cause a scene.
Starting point is 01:15:31 You think that's going to go well for me? Yeah, you think Sportsnet's going to love that one of their reporters pissed off Eric Carlson? Oh, I bet they will. They'll love that. So, yeah, you couldn't just go rogue and be like, where are you getting traded? So, I was limited to fashion-only questions for Eric Carlson. What did you ask? What jersey are you going to wear this season?
Starting point is 01:15:53 Oh, that's a great question. What did he say? Oh, they didn't pick that question. So, I went there for you. So, fucking Sportsnet sends a camera down there, and they don't even get their question. If I was Sportsnet, I would hit the roof. I'd hit the roof.
Starting point is 01:16:07 Yeah, because stupid. I'm a hockey. Like a stupid fucking Steve Dangle who we've never sent a camera anywhere to for. I wouldn't be mad at you. Be mad at them. Well, they gave you the wrong impression. The reason I went to this event was a reporter, who I won't name, reported it like this was a legitimate news conference that was happening.
Starting point is 01:16:28 And it's not. And, well, I didn't know until I got there. And so my wife, like, she was actually, like, when we went out to dinner and everything, she she was having a great time and everything was i was fucking steaming the entire dinner i was so pissed uh i was so mad because i went there for nothing i got an autograph magazine out of it that's all i got and i still have it so it's interesting on the hockey side because jesse and i experienced on the on the entertainment side um that that's pretty normal like i remember when i interviewed taylor swift in edmonton and this was backstage at the old arena and i forget
Starting point is 01:17:02 that what was it called it was uh rexall was it rexall or is it rexall now no it's is it rex it's rogers place no it's rexall yeah it's right now it's right yeah so it was rexall so um get our sponsors right guys we we got that we got that interview because when i bought rexall it was like buying canada um terrible that's the worst thing i've ever seen why do you love at&t i wanted to I wanted to be associated with Alexander Graham Bell because that's America, even though Alexander Graham is also Canadian. That's another thing. Yeah, that's something he doesn't know. But I remember that it all happened.
Starting point is 01:17:42 And this is not what you're supposed to do is go through the record label for any interviews, which means you get no interviews. So what often media companies will do in Canada, especially I'm sure this happens in the States too, is that, you know, you know, the managers and you know, some of the people at the subsidiary record label. So, you know, you've got Universal Music or Sony or whatever, and they've got a whole bunch of record labels underneath them. So it happened because Big Machine, which was a record label at the time, had a chat with one of my bosses and they organized this thing. And I lived in Calgary, so I drove up, you know, hung out at West Edmonton Mall for the day, finally saw it. You can see it from space. I saw it from Edmonton. And and then I went backstage and had to talk to Taylor Swift. So their, their, um, their rules were this, you get 10 minutes, you get 10 questions and
Starting point is 01:18:31 you can only film the first two minutes for video for online. This was 2011. That doesn't make any sense to me. Well, it was, it's a, it's all about control. And, and they say, if you, the second that you don't ask the questions in order, it's over, we will, we will tell you to leave. so and i won't repeat this but famous morning show person to this day in in uh in edmonton accompanies me i don't know how he accompanied me but he ended up finding out that i was going
Starting point is 01:19:00 to be there we worked at the same company and he shows up and is like i'm gonna come too and we were like okay and i was 23 and this guy was a big deal in this market and i was like i'm not gonna say no to him and he's a nice nice guy midway through the interview he pipes in and asks a question oh and i was like motherfucker like are you serious and taylor taylor's people you could see in the goal and it was about a book it's like who's gonna who's gonna cry about you after you die or something it's some sort of book that changed her life and she's like oh yeah i really like that book and he's like i i like that book too and like that's as far as the conversation went and it i first off i didn't get to ask my last two questions because of this guy but also
Starting point is 01:19:43 i'm like he's gonna fuck my i mean my interview screwed i'm toast yeah and thankfully she kind of looked at her people and went it's okay it's okay yeah and then i asked the remainder and then at 10 minutes she was she was answering in the middle of answering a question they're like okay thanks and off went taylor swift i was oh there you go wow yeah dude adam that's crazy yeah anybody listening uh right now on on the youtube version of this show there's a picture of young adam wild with a young taylor swift yeah that was on the speak now tour i think it was a really good show she puts on a great concert also the last time you told this story we made our taylor swift on reddit oh yeah yeah somebody uh somebody had put in the phone a fridge episode oh about a year ago
Starting point is 01:20:33 you told a similar story i'm sorry for anybody we're talking about taylor and and uh they they posted on our taylor swift the the subreddit uh it didn't do very well the post oh i think it got why not oh ten upvotes zero comments but you know hey we made it ten more than i expected we made it we made it i was lunged at by a uh like a pr person once were you um i think i've told this story before it was but yeah i'm lucky this turned out okay actually um it was remember the year josh donaldson ended up on the cover of mlb the show yeah yeah yeah so he was supposed to do an event at real sports and it was canceled at least once okay um he ran out of cancellations so he had to do the event on this day the problem was it came like within 48 hours of the jays
Starting point is 01:21:26 having like a bench clearing brawl i want to say with like the texas rangers and he was one of a bunch of people who was going to be either fined or suspended it wasn't the odor punch was it might have it might have been the odor punch and so it's back in toronto and the first thing they tell me the only thing they tell me well beyond yeah he's not in the greatest mood or whatever because i mean he's sitting there and he's waiting to find out if he's going to lose a shitload of money i think he ended up getting fined 25 grand which it's a shitload of money it was less than we all thought he would get though yeah yeah mlb fines are not nhl funds that's true they're a little bit more a little bit more um they go do not ask about the fight whatever you do do not ask about
Starting point is 01:22:09 the fight now i did a bunch of research on him because i'm a hockey guy i don't know a ton about all these baseball guys so naturally i worked in some hockey questions into my little list but i I found out he was an MMA fan. So I sit down. They're like, all right, ready? Yeah, you can go. I go, all right, Josh. So we got to talk about the fight.
Starting point is 01:22:32 What do you think? Stipe Miocic, the new heavyweight champion of the world. But when I said we got to talk about the fight, they were off camera and they were like so close to being in the shot because they were like running towards me. And you just see him go and like pucker. and then the second I said Stipe Miocic and he knew I was talking about UFC
Starting point is 01:22:53 he just completely let go and like almost probably this like smirk like fucking got him admire the balls and I asked him about the Pensacola ice pilots used to be the Leafs ECHL team and he was from Pensacola and it ended up going okay
Starting point is 01:23:10 but I could have that's a good icebreaker but you got to take a risk sometime in interviews I could have ruined it in the first five seconds but that's that is the point right you got to you do have to kind of take a risk sometimes do not ask about the fight okay so josh we gotta talk about the fight oh man um i i jesse i sent you this link uh greg washinsky was on about this this morning and i think this is a really interesting thing it has to go to the steelers i'm going to the steelers game this weekend by the way what and mika fitzpatrick who's been one
Starting point is 01:23:36 of their leaders since he was traded from the dolphins uh has basically had it with the press a lot of people say it's the media doing it it's not the players maybe the players have slipped up but stepping on the logo in the middle of a dressing room. Greg's point is, why not put the logo on the ceiling? Numb nuts to everybody. But for whatever reason, every locker room has the logo on the floor. So make a Fitzpatrick's like, we want a nice clean logo. And that's what they're doing.
Starting point is 01:24:03 My question to you guys is, does it matter? Yeah. No, superstitions matter. Like if you're into superstitions and they help you play better, superstitions matter. because i don't want a dirty logo on the floor either but i also see what greg is saying which is don't put it on the floor well okay why stop there okay what do you mean what do you mean the steelers logo is on the field yeah i want to step on that no they can't are they going to
Starting point is 01:24:35 cordon that off why is it different well i guess it's the game of what is sacred the floor in the locker room or the logo it's the logo you can't step in on the field either if you have a clear path to a touchdown but you're about to step on the logo nope you got to run around it if don't you believe in superstitions you want to win or not go around the logo if minka fitzpatrick plays two percent better because he thinks that he's gonna play better because nobody stepped on the logo then you do it and he is great it is not two percent a half percent better it is not half a percent i don't think it's half of half if his if his mind is in a half a percent better place because he's like oh nobody stepped on the the logo today i'm gonna i'm in a happy mood and i'm
Starting point is 01:25:22 gonna play a little a little better today then you do it that's that's all it is it's percentages you're gaining every advantage you can if taping your stick a certain way makes you play a little better do it how about makes you a little more confident how about which is which is all the game is at the at this high level it's all about the half percent how about you don't even risk fucking his day up sure by putting the logo on the ceiling okay put it on the ceiling where no one walks that's a little bit more intensive than putting up the ropes around around the logo until you paint until you get the construction crew back in there to redo it you know you got to do it on an off day because it's mid-season it's well season started now you know it's gonna
Starting point is 01:26:03 take a little bit this is what should have been an off-season problem you got to put the ropes around it to help minka no no you don't you don't let's all be adults for god's sake what what is this steve's gonna go take a dump on it i am um um do you remember it's kind of funny that you bring up the the logo in the middle of a football field because i remember when uh terrell owens was an eagle i think was he not an eagle or was he a cowboy no it was against the cow it was an eagle or or 49er he was 49er he catches the football you know it's a touchdown and then he runs to center to center and then puts it on the on the cowboys logo and he gets decked and he gets decked but when why did he get decked so it's interesting because he obviously i all game
Starting point is 01:26:55 they've been playing on that cowboys logo but after play no we can't touch it then isn't that weird imagine he went a bit weird right with a 30 yard line and simply put it there would he have gotten decked no no why did he get decked when he put it on the logo because he knew it would piss off because it's sacred you cannot step on it i think i've come up with a new strategy just make your entire end zone a logo well a lot of them are there are a lot of no no no no no but they're stupid they put it in the end zone but by the time they've gotten there it's already a touchdown put your logo on the five yard line you guys don't get football i do big football guy steve i like put the logo on the five yard line you can't cross it you're fine
Starting point is 01:27:41 this conversation is stupid and i hate it all right now stupid i got a couple more things and then we'll get to the press conference no we're getting a little weekend don't you dare um step on the at we're gonna play a game called would you eat it uh jesse can you please bring up our first delicacy hold on it just said uh from uh from philadelphia are we gonna see photos yeah yeah hold on i'll describe it too for anybody that's listening okay all right so we got this This is called The Slim Jim 2.0 New at the Philadelphia Eagles games
Starting point is 01:28:16 It's Frosted Flakes Fried Chicken Cooper Sharp Cheese I don't know what that is, I'm sure that's a Philly thing Honey Glazed Bacon Cherry Jam, Ghost Chili And Apple Fritters as the bun Guaranteed heartburn Would you eat it?
Starting point is 01:28:33 Just before we do that Fucking America Everything has to be sponsored well yeah this food has a logo it's an aramark it's an aramark they're they're catering company yeah you can't and everything has to be nascar you gotta throw logos on every single their food has a logo on it the world champions of capitalism oh anyways cooper sharp cheese as well frost there's two there's two companies in the fucking yeah ingredients like when you go to philly i think there was something called a boar's boar's head and it's
Starting point is 01:29:08 a brand but if you eat like if it's at a restaurant like a boar's head boar's head meat or something like that um it's it's it's listed on no matter what restaurant you're in it's listed as boar's head whatever oh it better be but you know it's like it's weird i don't know why but yeah so my question is would you eat the sponsored food no um by the way speaking of sponsored food when you go to tampa bay for a lightning game they have a um a place where you can get a burger nike swoosh it's a ford burger and they actually singe the fucking ford like logo our company into the top of the burger yeah it's a ford ford company logo i've had it that's too far that's you that's too far they give you the thing and then they and then it's like
Starting point is 01:29:53 you're advertising on my burger did it taste like new car smell oh it didn't it was fine it's a burger tastes like a burger no uh okay so i'll i'll tell you why there is there is actually a particular reason why i wouldn't eat this um i have this weird bugaboo where i don't like shitting myself at a sports event at the event you that that would pass through you that quick probably i mean man wait what is that fucking is that burger like on a like on a sprint How quickly do you guys shit after eating? Dude, read the fucking ingredients again. Frosted Flakes.
Starting point is 01:30:31 Frosted Flakes chicken. Fried chicken. Cooper Sharp cheese. So Frosted Flakes, that's brand one, brand two. Sweet and savory already. No, no, let him read it one more time. By the way, it's Slim Chicken 2.0 instead of Slim Pickin'. Frosted Flakes fried chicken, Cooper Sharp cheese, honey glazed bacon, cherry jam, and ghost chili with apple fritters as the bun.
Starting point is 01:30:54 so you got your soft fibers in there you got your greasy meat two different types of greasy meat you got your lactose in there and you got the hottest pepper imaginable i mean for me it would be a next day thing so at least i'd probably do it at home i'd order i would only feel comfortable or what's the question i'll repeat it your mic isn't hooked up yet what about how sticky it is yeah oh it would be sticky and you know they're gonna give it to you in a in a flimsy little cardboard you know those things they give you like a gigantic hot dog and it comes in a piece of cardboard that's that big your jeans are gonna feel like velcro by the end of the game like oh no yeah no i was i was on the side of eating it
Starting point is 01:31:35 and like trying it because i love apple stuff i like when they inject a little apple into things it's a little sweet and it's so good and i try eating that at home and yeah and i imagine fried chicken uh frosted flakes fried chicken whatever the hell that is i imagine that's delicious this sounds kind of good but steve's right at a sporting event i'm gonna shit you ever you ever been at a sporting event and you're enjoying yourself and then that pesky thing happens where you have to shit your pants see i don't know whose body reacts that quickly though like like honestly like if you had a hot dog at a baseball game are you shitting that same game i am not having a frosted flakes honey glazed bacon ghost pepper gym at a baseball game this
Starting point is 01:32:18 isn't that this isn't a hot dog no this is apple fritter and fried chicken you're no on the eating i am no i'll eat i could eat a quarter of it i can eat a quarter that's too big i can't you gave it to us on this show i would 100 have it going to an event for three hours and i'm gonna sit there and eat this no thank god thank god the eagles play outside because eating being in the same room as jesse and steve after dairy is a bad idea bad you're instantaneous with it yeah you You got to give me those pills. Lactate. Okay.
Starting point is 01:32:49 All right. All right. Let's play another one. Would you eat this? This is another Darren Revelle tweet. Listen, people give Darren Revelle shit, but sometimes his Twitter is interesting. Okay. This is from...
Starting point is 01:33:00 Give me the Calvin Klein burger. This is from the Broncos. Okay. The Colorado Tater Keg. Tater Keg. stuffed potato topped with pork belly green chili cheese and green onion that sounds amazing it does sound pretty spectacular normal and delicious you would be a farty man though holy shit how the fuck are you eating this in your seat yeah yeah i don't know none of this
Starting point is 01:33:26 is sporting event food oh it's not no i mean like in in reality it is like these are all at games but i'm not eating these at game i'm nervous looking at that photo because it's not in a bowl it's on a plate well you would get it in a again a shitty bowl that would probably spill on your pants you know you know who's really going to enjoy this adam the shoes of the person next to you no that's no that's no i would i would eat this 10 times out of 10 this looks absolutely i love pork belly so much i'm with you it's so good oh so good and then when it's done right green onions like now do you think pork belly because it needs to be done well because it's It is a sensitive thing.
Starting point is 01:34:05 Would it be done well at the Broncos game? Like in a high-end restaurant, I think so. But at the Broncos game? I think Aramark is the greatest company on earth, and I trust them with everything I believe in. And that's why the Denver Broncos teamed up with Aramark to create this great dish, and they will deliver on the pork. Okay, all right.
Starting point is 01:34:26 I got one more. Steve, are you going to eat that? It's more of a shareable. Okay. Do you think we could find anybody who listens to the show to go to one of these football stadiums and order one of these? I know we have people that listen in Philly and Denver.
Starting point is 01:34:39 We don't have any Denver listeners. No, none. Do they have a hockey team there? No, they don't. If you're a Broncos fan and you're going to a Broncos game, can you get this and send us a picture? I'd love to see it. A video. I want to hear it.
Starting point is 01:34:56 These are all plated and stuff, right? They're not going to be plated at the stadium. This last one, though, is plated in a bowl that looks like the stadium that you can buy it in, which I think is amazing. Kanye West is known to have recorded in the stadium. For some reason, he lived there for a bit. This is the Falcons Nacho Stadium Bowl. So it's Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
Starting point is 01:35:18 I am out on this one. This is in the garbage. I am out. And also, I don't love red onions that are uncooked. Don't love it. Not a big red onion guy. Oh, I like red onions. Uncooked, I don't like it.
Starting point is 01:35:28 So what do you guys think? These look like really good nachos. They do look really good. Yeah. I love it. That's by Levy Restaurants, according to Darren Revell. You know what is the most important thing? Like, Adam, you're not a nachos guy, so I want to see what you think.
Starting point is 01:35:44 So you're looking at that. I don't know what I'm even... It's kind of hard to... Yeah. Well, look at the ingredients. Describe what you can see, and what do you think is the most important? Well, I'm seeing the black corn tortilla chips, or blue corn, or whatever they call it. They're beautiful.
Starting point is 01:35:58 I love those. Those are my favorite. the underrated red i'm seeing some either chicken it looks like chicken or beef looks like the uh chipotle chicken kind of yeah it's nicely charred though love that um it looks like there's some red chips in there too they're red tortilla chips i don't know what those are called i'm uncultured this one there are some it looks to be some small green peppers potentially in there steve so you might be out on that that looks like cilantro there is cilantro but look down if you look down by the uh by the by the by the middle there there's a blue chip and a red chip and then just
Starting point is 01:36:28 above that there's a green piece you see that this that no no a little further down could be a right right there this one yeah that looks like a green pepper to me it does yeah it does could be a jalapeno but it's probably so i think there's chicken and there's beef in this yeah this is beef this is chicken and it's nicely charred too you can tell it's done on like a uh on a not a gas grill but uh whatever they but you you know what i'm talking about you missed the most important ingredient what i miss the mercedes-benz logo that is what makes it delicious and it's sponsored again each of these are sponsored you gotta you gotta sponsor my nachos you gotta admire the commitment come on you have to you do have to admire this is america you got a football game
Starting point is 01:37:08 you get a mercedes-benz nachos get ready to piss in a trough and eat out of the stadium bowl piss in a trough and eat out of a different one and also shit yourself i think we got a shit in a trough as well in america i think we got a welcome to trough stadium you fucking sloppy pig enjoy do you have any falcons fans who listen to the show i'm sure we do go to mercedes-benz i'm sorry got the mercedes-benz nachos thrashers fans oh no that's not that's not nice flames flames fans that's right flames fans um anyway those yeah i'll leave it there are we doing a press conference today or no that's enough well steve's gonna shit himself what's the best stadium to shit yourself in definitely not tim horton's i'm gonna say hamilton
Starting point is 01:37:56 gillette stadium is probably good probably slides slide on in what would jerry jones say if you shit yourself at cowboy stadium at&t stadium wait yeah these toilets are brought to you by at&t well you're gonna we wanted we wanted you to shit in alexander Graham's mouth I'm sorry the AI is a little off today you're gonna need to call your loved one so they could buy you new pants and britches and when you call them make sure you use AT&T products because when you shit your pants at our facility we want you to feel like you're shitting your pants in America.
