all right so corset clubhouse live next saturday night i had my wife text message me on her way
home uh the day that the show was posted our last show on wednesday and she was like hey your
corset clubhouse date you announced it as friday it's saturday and then she followed it up with uh
Oh, no, wait.
They corrected you.
Oh, my God.
She's a typical commenter.
I don't know why you said Friday.
What was going on there?
I don't know.
I just, you know, I just wasn't.
You know what's been going on, honestly, is that I haven't been sleeping the greatest
because my daughter has entered a stage where she is getting nightmares every night.
And I looked into it, and it's apparently good because it means that their brain is progressing.
But it is messing with my sleep.
And so I'm – she's cool.
like she usually goes right back to sleep but then it takes me about 20 25 minutes to get back
to sleep and so i'm a little bit like i'm in a different phase where leo lies about his dream
what's he lie about before he goes to bed he tells us what he's gonna dream about oh that's good and
then in the morning he lies and says it's what he dreamed about and i'm like no you didn't
and he always tells me it's about the least winning the cup oh leo's learned to lie or like
a lot right he's at that phase yeah but he's shitty at it four so bad at it course at clubhouses
in saint catherine's five hd golf simulators and 40 real courses and many others obviously
jesse's gonna have his longest drive competition odr hockey heroes the indie hockey game that we've
been supporting for over a year now are gonna be there so you can test it out uh still in beta
phase there but so cool uh tickets are officially live they're 20 bucks and the food is amazing and
it's just going to be a great night it's always a fun time now uh moving on to uh what what we're
wearing i wasn't going to start with this but then steve and jesse walked upstairs with these this
morning and they are our cap friendly jerseys our good friends at cap friendly uh sent us
sent us customized jerseys look at these yeah um dangle wild blake yeah and they just i they just
sent them over just to say thank you um they're the best just in case you were wondering how great
the cat friendly guys are this is how great the cat friendly guys are move me to tears man and
steve you have to take your jersey off because i showed off brad mug that jesse made how great
is that brad mug and steve's got a brad shirt yeah and an lfr mug too by the way buddy merch
Merch!
Merch!
Merch!
Merch!
When does your LFR notebook arrive?
Soon.
It's the only thing that hasn't come yet.
Is there an LFR notebook?
Buddy, yeah.
I don't know why Jesse made it, but I'm happy.
We talked about it on the show, Adam.
Yeah, talk about it again.
Oh, guys, come on.
You're asking me to remember what day our live shows are?
I bet you could talk about it again.
What we talked about on the show?
What is this?
Come on.
Do you guys not know me after 12 years?
By the way, this is our 12th season.
I should say that, too.
Did you guys know that?
No, I didn't.
Yeah, this is the beginning of our 12th season.
Depends on how you count it.
It's 13, I think, technically.
Technically 13.
Because the show started in the springtime.
Yes.
So that's got to be season one.
And then season two came off in the fall of that year.
Oh, OK.
Yes, because season one was a short run.
Yes, it was the pilot run.
2013 playoffs?
Yeah, it's the pilot.
So technically, the way the episodes are counting,
this is season 13.
It's like The Office.
They had like eight episodes in the first season.
And then they went to like 22 or something like that.
Yeah, right?
That's how you count.
if we're counting every september refresh i do i sure do maybe 13 so we're in season 13 how about
that um now guys uh it's great that we have the brad merchandise because uh our man who tree lives
tree loves and tree laughs spoke to the media yesterday and he had plenty of plenty of stuff
to say but it seems like he has taken a um a note out of the lou lamorello book of i'm gonna say a
bunch of stuff and it's not going to mean all much all that much so september ass quotes so
here we go with some september ass quotes you guys ready all right so on max patcher ready's
role with the team so we said this is this part actually is actually interesting a little bit of
background we brought max in probably about a month or three weeks ago for a couple of days
uh he was very open to not only going through a medical exam but also getting on the ice for us
to see where he was at he feels he's had a couple of years two and a half years where he hasn't
really had an opportunity to train. Uh, it, it has been, you know, rehab for him. He came back
last year, jumped in sort of halfway through the season. And at the end of the year, he felt like
he wasn't where he wanted to be physically. So he's had a full summer of training. We'll see
our expectation is that he is going to come in and give us more depth. All of that stuff is,
you know, trying to sort itself out in camp. Uh, I know we all get excited when we see guys added,
we are trying, what we were trying to do is make the roster as deep as possible.
and this last quote i think is very important my expectation is that he is going to be with us but
everyone has to earn their spot here whether that is on the roster or or playing with whoever they're
playing with it gives us a lot of different options he's worth a shot like yeah is it gonna
work out is it gonna i don't know but it's worth a shot like so he says two years right he feels
like he hasn't two and a half two and a half so last year four goals 23 points in 47 games
the year before three goals in five games which is actually quite nice right uh but he only played
five games yep that's it the year before his last season with the golden knights 19 goals and 37
points in 39 games and again the games played is a problem yeah it's a big problem but that's
essentially a point of game player the season before same issue 48 games although i think that
was the shortened season which means he would have still missed eight games but in 48 games 24 goals
and 51 points so this guy when he's healthy and in the lineup his last couple years in vegas uh
was a point of game player i don't expect him to be that it's not reasonable to expect him to be
like oh fixed everything's fine at his age the ripe old age of 35 gonna turn 36 an 88 baby just
like jesse oh what he's what we're the same age as max patch ready hey technically older yeah wow
yeah that's pretty crazy that's pretty cool um but uh if i mean if he can get to 0.5 0.6
that's a great ad if he can chip in we keep talking about robertson and what i tell you
was like 0.54 exactly like robertson's gonna chip in like if he can get to 20 goals if robertson
and patch ready are hovering around 20 each it's all now one might take the other spot
so that's a bit of a a potential issue that i could see on the horizon um you know how how is
he defensively after the achilles issues and everything but it's a flyer like you're taking
a flyer on a guy it's fine jesse i it's gonna be interesting because a lot of caps fans when
the signing happened they they were being like yeah woo Leafs took him he was one of our worst
players in the playoff Ian Olin was brutal yeah yeah but like I I wonder if you asked Max if he'd
be like yeah yeah no no that's that's that was the point I was getting to so when it happened
a lot of the cast fans were like yeah he's not coming back and good luck Leafs he was the worst
but you have to take it with the context of everything you just outlined there in that
he had an achilles injury that held him up for a couple years and now he's finally having a full
off season where he's able to train at the full extent that max patch already trains at and adam
you would know from alan walsh about how seriously patch already takes his training and it's a guy
who can't do that stuff because of an injury and he's not good anymore in actual hockey and during
the playoffs and everything now it's a different player we got to be evaluating oh during the
playoffs yeah he wasn't good during the playoffs but it's because what do you did like are you are
you specifically talking about max patriots ability to be good in the playoffs for the leafs
i don't i don't know i was evaluating his performance oh no i don't we made it this far
no that was such a stretch that was a stretch no i wasn't because i wasn't april jar i brought one
it's okay april jar no but i was talking about the previous april with max patch already in the
capital so i don't think that's what i was not leafs playoff yeah we know we know april i think
i think this didn't apply at all for the he wanted it so yeah that was such a stretch you
wanted to wait until the least conversation don't worry i brought more than one dollar
i have stuff coming up that could have put you there hey by the way um uh cj reported on
wednesday that there was mutual interest between jvr and the leafs uh for a reunion and the leafs
ultimately went uh with patch ready now also no one listening knows what you did that's not true
he brought out he brought out a jar that says april jar on it because i suggested last episode
that i was going to start one and then steve took the initiative no i think the debut was really
good it's great i think it was really good yeah no i think we're in the first 10 minutes of this
show are already already amazing uh leafs could have brought back jvr or max patch ready and they
chose match max patch ready um and i have to say like given the type of player because i know there
are people who you know there's nostalgia factor is a factor here um given the type of players that
both of those guys were at the best points in their career and are now i think they made the
right call in theory and i say that because it's not because i don't like jvr i freaking love jvr
i'd love to plant his ass in front of a goalie on the power play again and have him just hit pucks
in the way he used to because he was crazy at it and it made the Leafs power play deadly but
his skating at the best of times was never great no and if he is not going to play a top six role
I struggle to see where he slots in because I don't see unless unless he turns into like Jason
Spezza flying knee I don't see him being like a guy who's who's gonna knock skulls together do
you know what I mean yeah I mean 11 goals 38 points in 71 games like it's good numbers yeah
numbers um I just see uh you can bring in JVR and he could potentially like I feel like his floor
at this point in his career is higher than Pacioretty's Pacioretty's floor is he doesn't
play for you right um but Pacioretty's ceiling is higher does that make sense yeah there's more
potential in it there's more potential there if he doesn't make it well especially for a team that
wants to be a little bit more mobile than I think they were last year I think goes undersold
how slow this Leafs team was.
It was not a fast team last year.
There are fast players on it,
but they don't set up quickly
and they don't move the puck quickly
and they're very intentional
and very obvious
and teams who are actually good,
you know, regular season teams,
it's like, ah, well,
they might not take you to task for it.
In the playoffs,
you get found out quick.
What is it?
No, that's not how it works, Steve.
It's not just any mention of the playoffs.
It's a mention of talking about,
hey, the Leafs in the core four of the playoffs,
and this is the result of it.
That's what the April jar is for.
Put that April jar away.
I'll put it away.
Anytime you talk about the playoffs, I'll put it back.
Back to what Brad Treliving was saying,
this time on Nick Robertson.
A reporter asked him,
hey, how'd you sell Nick Robertson on this situation?
And he said, it is not a sell.
A lot gets made of him.
You ask him, but Nick has gone through some stuff here, right?
Some of it's been injury related,
and sometimes with young players, their game is still evolving.
i have a good relationship with nick we talked throughout the summer and you explain here is
the situation and everybody has to earn their stripes i like nick he shoots it in the net
you have to do other things too you have to round a great line that's a great line you have to round
out your game you have to be a complete player but it is a fresh clean slate with a new coach
and a new opportunity so clearly this is less of a leafs thing more of a sheldon keith thing
i hope i first of all i think you're right second i hope nick uh thinks carefully about
what he's gonna say and at the first opportunity uh runs for a camera and and says his piece and
makes good because some fans are still salty about it and and i understand i get that i get it but
he's here yeah i also get i also get why you're like hey man give me a shot and you're also not
you guys aren't scoring goals in the playoffs and you're gonna scratch me in game seven what the
hell uh okay that okay that i'll give you i'll give you that drop it in the air i get that i get
that um we're gonna donate a lot of money to easter seals here this is gonna be crazy um
yanni on yanni hockenpah gentlemen i'm gonna make change unless you got more to add i'm gonna take
that loony put it in a toonie all right unless you got more to add on uh on nick robertson i
wanted to move to yanni hockenpah who by the way we had a nice little uh tiktok moment go viral
because you calculated that there was $333 left for the cap.
There was.
Well, that's wrong.
Yeah, but...
Because Yanni Hockenpah signed for $30,000 less than we thought he would.
Yes, so they have $33,333 left.
I thought it was $30,333.
No, because you said...
Oh, no, it is $30,000.
Ah, ah, yeah, $30,333.
So Yanni Hockenpah signs for $1.47, and here's what Brad had to say.
obviously there was a bit of a delay with yanni we had yanni in town earlier this summer for a
bit of time our performance staff went out there two three times it was him going through rehab
to the point uh where he and we felt confident we'll see how it goes this is certainly there
is certainly always a risk for any person coming off a knee injury he has put in a lot of work
uh i think he had surgery and a scope on his knee in march we went through the healing and
the rehab and he is doing well the leafs are heavily leaning on their sports science department
this year right well they've invested a lot of money maybe they should yeah yeah you got to take
risks i said this in my patch ready video like they've prolonged a bunch of careers like we
tyler ennis is one that sticks out yeah like we we talk about robie doll and that was a famous
example of them being like ah you're retired you're retired you're done yeah but they've also
prolong some careers not just guys who have dealt with extensive extensive injury issues like tyler
anis but you know some a lot of older guys have been like i could play there yeah because i my
body needs a lot of work right now and they're the team to do it am i mistaken do you guys remember
a story where somebody had come to town too early and trained with performance staff and then other
nhl teams got mad about it oh are you thinking about yeah when they were my conflating two things
When they added the rule because the Leafs were like flying guys around, that sort of stuff?
I think you might be conflating two things because it was a prospect.
Like they on their dime flew a prospect and teams were like, you can't do that.
Because we're cheap.
Yeah, and they shut it down.
Well, the way the Leafs have been running their performance department in that like, hey, they're investing all this money into it.
That's how you exercise your power as a big market team who makes all the money because there's a salary cap.
Everybody can only spend the same amount of money on the players.
so the Leafs are doing the right thing by we're rich let's spend it in the ways we're allowed to
spend it and I think it's really smart of them and even like recently last year John Klingberg
like in his back yeah it was now it didn't work a plane ride ruined it for him but he comes and
he plays in Toronto because he knows he's going to get that support and yes back didn't have the
support to hold up but um that that's how you as a big market team you say we're gonna be better
than the teams that don't spend this money hawk and paw to me seems like a better example of how
it should work and like there were still things wrong with the klingberg signing like if this is
a hey maybe it'll work out signing you don't give them 4.5 million dollars no no no right uh no that
was step on robbie dot yeah like let's say hawk and paw plays like 20 games for the team it doesn't
work out it's one year 1.47 yeah it's fine you'll live it's fine that's that's not anything where
you're like oh we missed out on a guy because we spent all this money on hawkball clingberg
that's four million dollars it's a big consideration yeah it's a big consideration
yeah yeah any of those guys uh hawk and paw patch already you know go through the lineup
i think it'll be okay i remember watching i think it was either global or tsn back in the day because
global used to have uh significant global in canada games used to have leaf games all the
They used to have all the, like, a lot of Raptor games, too.
Yeah, oh, yeah, absolutely.
No, I'm wrong about that.
I thought the, no, no, the owner, I thought the Aspers who used to own it,
I thought they were part owners in the Raptors, too,
but I'm not sure, so don't quote me on that.
It's fine.
I do know that, I remember they did a story on the doctors
that went to the game and looked after the players if they were injured,
and they did a story on this doctor who was quite well-renowned here in Toronto,
and he had a day job.
and and like he was he would show up at the game at night and he's just like you know i
i have a wife i have kids but like i really love this and they understand so i'm here every home
game and i just think about the difference that was probably when i was 12 or 13 you think about
the difference here 20 25 years later where it's like you know you have dedicated performance
staff they went to school for this and this like this guy was like a pediatrician right it's like
oh, you hurt your knee, put some ice on it.
Now, that is actually still the case today.
For the guys that are in the game?
I don't know if he still does it,
but there's a member of the Leafs medical staff
or training staff or whatever staff
who has a private practice.
I've been to see that.
That I can see that.
I can see that.
He fixed my shit.
It was good.
That's great.
But what I mean is he wasn't relying on the Leafs to,
you know what I mean?
Like, that guy probably doesn't need it if the Leafs are probably paying well for good talent.
I think Adam's point is that we've come a long way with the investment in the medical staff that sits around the game.
Like, you would be the side hustle.
The Leafs are not the side hustle.
Right.
Does that make sense?
Yeah.
Well, Yannick Perrault, he's been out for a couple of weeks, but we've applied an adequate amount of leeches.
Yeah.
And we think we've solved the problem.
It's a shame the in-game staff kind of still works like that.
like the 50 50 ticket sellers who are walking the concourse they just are regular people day jobs and
like the dance crew and all that stuff in the ice pack like they don't get paid enough to this is
their full-time job but i guess it makes sense there's only 41 dates but you'd like to see
full-time dedicated uh people doing that kind of stuff i mean i dallas cowboy i don't know if you
guys watch the the dallas cowboys thing cheerleader thing on netflix but like that kind of opened my
eyes to like oh they're really getting paid nothing here oh yeah they didn't disclose all
the salaries but all of those the girls are doing that are just doing on like pennies you know just
for the exposure the the asterisk for my guy it's like all right you have two months where you can
see him and then after that like nah it's he's not he's not here you might see someone else we
recommend someone else but like no he's here for two months he only works like the private practice
yeah that's what i mean you were the side hustle yeah right yeah uh so i i uh i wanted to do one
more here and it's on easton cowan uh and i love brad's quote on this even though it doesn't really
tell you all that much he said he's a competitive player a dog on a bone really good player which
is what you want in your top prospect you want them to be really good uh he's a young player too
and you want to make sure you're putting him in a position to succeed and are not rushing the
process whoa you see he is excited to get going this week uh he will be excited to camp that is
why you go through an exhibition in training camp we will see where he is at very shortly here and
obviously john gruden not nfl's john gruden but the ahl marley's john gruden who is also a head
coach fucking weird uh that that's that there's two guys named john gruden who are coaches at a
professional level uh john gruden marley's is uh is saying that yeah he looks really good and that
he's taken a step and looks strong and i don't know it's september so everybody's like we could
win the cup but i i still like that i love the hope of september there's not a whole lot of man
he looked like shit no there isn't there isn't it's not a whole lot of that i saw someone um
there was a picture of alexander ovechkin floating around and someone's like oh man he's looking
heavy i'm like is this your first time is this like if he is well generally he is a fridge do
me a favor and google him like what are you what are you talking he walks around pretty heavy yeah
yeah that's what he does all the time living weight yeah it's fine it was like when when
people be like oh bufflin does not look and like but dustin bufflin's like he's fine cigarette down
it's like yeah you you wait yeah don't worry i'm good yeah you know ryan reeves was looking kind
of built the other day it was crazy it's a shame on him yeah i hope they let him do interviews with
his shirt off like he wants well yeah yeah hey great point um also i think doesn't reeves have
good tats like he's good yeah yeah he showed them off a couple times in those uh was the
blueprint of the youtube series yes on the leaf's youtube channel when they're in the locker room
he's like shirtless and stuff he's fucking just yoked islanders fans i'm gonna bring this up one
more time if there's any behind the scenes stuff with pierre engvall watch watch him in the
background definitely no shirt and watch how he claps he's flexing well he knows he knows where
every lens is aisles fans you owe it to us to send uh to send us clips when you see it it's
going to happen 100 you owe it to us you must look out for that um sam reinhardt guy who scores
goals and hangs out with sdpn at all-star all the time with pepsi all the time this is not a paid
sponsored post but it was at all-star um sam reinhardt on anthony stallers who the leafs have
signed and by the way we've talked a lot about the left wing i did a little deep dive on anthony
stallers this summer and i think there's a lot to be excited about with this player dude and it is
september but he's a six seven goaltender who was at a really high save percentage last year
led the league led the league he led the league and save percentage minimum 25 five ish starts
yeah and uh and so here's what reinhardt said he has a good chance to be that goalie him h.i.m
uh for the organization that they've needed he was unbelievable his personality off the ice is
top notch something anyone would want in the room i'm excited to see that happen for him as a person
you know if joseph wall goes down with an injury they're gonna have to call up probably dennis
hildeby and then their tandem is both going to be six foot seven it's gonna be absolutely no man i
i keep saying and people weren't receptive to this earlier in the summer like i i'm either
a leaf homer or i'm completely against the team and you'll be shocked to find out i'm somewhere
in the middle uh this team is better than last year's oh it is it's straight up better the
forward group there's no arguments that they're better they're they're definitely worse yeah
really worse the decor is clearly better i don't know what argument there is against that and the
goaltending what the they had elia samson off what yeah the goaltending i think is where they
took the biggest step yes probably now what if this guy gets hurt all right well what if we all
get hit by exactly like hell it's all health dependent yes we're talking about like imagine
this is nhl ea sports nhl 25 and everybody goes into the season healthy you know that's that's
how you have to look at this i think i think you're right and i think what's interesting is
okay fine they they lost a few goals on the on the top end if they can stop a few more it's not
going to matter goal differential yeah that's what I mean uh Tanev again I keep coming back to this
like you're you're replacing a guy who for several months was the worst goalie in the league
with a guy who was the best so that's pretty good um but Chris Tanev is by
kilometers and continents uh the best right-handed defenseman the Leafs have had
in the lifetime of this show?
Oh, easily.
Well, who was the last one that was better?
Here's what I want you to do for the SDPN channel
if you have time.
I want you to do...
The definitive who's better?
No, no, no.
A retrospective of right-handed defensemen,
top and right-handed defensemen,
that have played for this team
since the start of this show up until Chris Tam.
Oh, my...
No, do the Matthews era.
Or even the Matthews era.
I do want to do pre-Matthews
just because it's hilarious.
I'm not...
I would do since Matthews was
drafted first overall.
Right-handed defenseman.
Since
the 0-4-0-5
lockout, the title might belong
to Pavel Kubina, and I'm not kidding.
Francois Beauchemin
is not happy with you. He wasn't a righty.
He wasn't a righty.
Damn. Okay. Dude, the crop
sucks. It sucks
ass dude well it's really bad i mean you if you really want to get crazy like if you want to get
trade tree crazy oh you could go all the way back to the last good one they actually had which was
uskavage who was just a defensive defenseman who was better who was it's not a long not a long list
right it's not a long list with the goalie situation do the leafs sign martin jones who's
currently still a ufa well see they do have matt murray oh yeah which yeah never mind man they
already got their guy i automatically went to hill to be yeah my guess is they have matt murray
in order to uh not have to play hill to be in the nhl they can well and rather sit hill to be in
the nhl they can have them play in the minors i wouldn't be surprised to see him play nhl games
this year at all um i would straight up be much more confident in martin jones because who saved
the leaf season in january last year yeah and also like we've seen him play nhl games and play
them well fairly recently which we haven't seen with matt murray who that's a confusing one yep
they must know something we don't and it's funny because like kyle's not here anymore and we knew
kyle just loved matt loves his guys and then brad doesn't we're like oh so somebody else must love
matt murray as well here's the thing kyle liked him at four and a half million dollars a year i'm
gonna steal him from ottawa yeah but now that he's cheap he's like meh yeah like why not what's
wrong with that and by the way i did just check into matt murray's contract if you remember yes
last year with martin jones the least were able to uh get him through waivers on the last day of
camp because he had a 100 000 signing bonus that teams did not want to pay yeah the day of waivers
like the last day um and matt murray also has that in his thing but it does not specify on
puckpedia our good friends at puckpedia um where where's our jerseys huh where that hundred
thousand dollar bonus where where and when it's paid i had somebody dm me the other day
actually adam you stink shut up about hockey no he said hey man i'm going on vacation and i'm
really glad that you guys are doing uh working with nord vpn because i need to download that
e-sim you were talking about what's the promo code they want sali they want sali not only do
they want sali but they want 15 off sali with the promo code dangle how do you spell it boy
so basically uh an e-sim is great because it it helps you avoid roaming charges maddie knows
maddie went on a gigantic european vacation this summer for seven weeks backpacked around
roaming fees can be brutal so you can buy a plan multiple plans in over 150 countries are available
at some of the best rates online you install the e-sum e-sim if you've purchased the e-sim plan
on the saley website you'll just need to download the app boom and then you activate and you're good
to go and obviously when you're using an e-sim traveling no roaming fees good at good you can
call people like that's the thing too right is you're never sure hey does it is it gonna drop
boat in this country or not you don't have to worry about that don't have to worry about it
the other thing you don't have to worry about too which is great is buying uh because there's like
all the kiosks where you buy uh like in a sim card in different countries are kind of sketch
right you're booing i guess maddie had some issues with this summer so you go to story there
sale s-a-i-l-y.com slash dangle and use the promo code dangle to get an exclusive 15 off your
purchase. Saley.com slash Dangle. Two in five Canadians will hear the words,

Nathan McKinnon on Mitch Marner.
Now, this got some play because it mentions Toronto.
And I want to encourage everybody to just,
let's ratchet it down a notch.
Let's take it down.
Let's take it down a little bit here.
It's September.
Everybody wins the cup in September.
I'll have the jar ready.
uh he said uh how when asked how marner looked at the andy o'brien camp which is was in vail
colorado andy o'brien's been i think crosby and mckinnon's guy like trainer for years and years
and years um and i think he was crosby's trainer from like when crosby was like 14 like it was
this guy is like legendary um and mckinnon said he looks awesome he's so impressive out there
unreal just so so talented don't think anybody's offended no no here's the sentence and then lee
fans lost their minds not bad this was not that bad marner gets a lot of flack in toronto
but he's honestly one of the best players in the league i play with some of the best players in the
league and then i skate with marns and he's right up with anybody uh especially at the camp there
was lots of good players he stuck out as one of the best to the surprise of nobody i think no we
know he's one of the best yeah i uh last week i think said he might break gilmore's record
single season for points for points this year which is 127 by the way yeah yeah i hate him
though so well no i think i don't think he's talking i don't think nathan mckinnon is
specifically referencing you i think the flack do i have to say it here jesse do i have to say it
or do we do we already know where the flack comes from where's the where does it need to be said can
we leave it jesse no say it say the flack comes when one of the best players in the league
doesn't dominate in the playoffs the way you'd hope there you go is that fair that's one for
the segment i'm not doing it every time it's mentioned okay ben danford left prospect camp
yesterday with a potential oh the oh before you move on okay quickly um that was the driveway
i'm sorry yeah sorry um mckinnon and marner training in vale colorado friend of the show
coach jeremy was actually there yes uh for the few days that um mckinnon and the whole crew was
out there he said was there can confirm that they were training in vale colorado nate is super chill
off the ice but on the ice he's intense wants to win wants to improve the guys are there to get
dialed in i love that someone else who would know who's not coach jeremy just so i protect him
thought it was really important that we know that that camp was three days yes we we were like
marner's been training with crosby and mckinnon all summer and someone got mad at us even though
we were like hey this is a good thing did we say all summer i i think i might have slipped we and
like we didn't specify that this was like a weekend thing yeah okay and someone was like
what it was only three days they didn't spend the summer together and and i'm like oh okay
all right well now we know sorry to inflate how good of a job he's doing like i didn't understand
the problem but either way uh no good yeah uh marner's a really good hockey player who's shocked
i told you take him in fantasy this year draft him in fantasy this year dude if i get the chance
i'm taking him like he would be my first pick he might he might be my first pick yeah might be uh
there's some really a little much depends on it depends on where you're drafting
i didn't say first overall what i'm not gonna take is kucherov
bum fake heart fake heart that's right fake heart h-e-a-r-t you know what i'm saying that's for you
lightning fans love you uh ben danford left prospect camp yesterday with a potential head
injury i checked in with our good friend longtime friend david alter uh who is at camp today and
he told me that um danford is not on the ice as of this recording but that doesn't could be
maintenance um and nobody i said like was it what kind of play was it because i saw that mark masters
had the tweet of like them getting him off the ice i said what happened video no uh well so tsn's
cameras weren't there yet so we don't know nobody saw it so we don't really know what the play was
But these things do happen, and we'll try to update when we know.
Well, one of the Leafs' better forward prospects is Roni Hirvonen,
and he's been out of sight, out of mind for Leafs fans for the better part of a year
because last year, I think it was at this very camp, he got frigging rocked,
and we basically didn't see him for months and months.
This happens, man. Unfortunately, this happens.
yeah and it's you know i think your instant thought is is it some you know a whole player
trying to make a name for themselves with the big first round pick or something that's not the sense
i got i but that does happen sure but it's happening less and less i didn't mark stone
like like he knocked a block off a guy a couple years ago no see that was that was different it
was um it was last year i think and it was a it was a pre-season game uh kings and golden knights
is that what it is yeah and he got mad that a hockey player played hockey i guess yeah mark
mark seems like a surly guy i get it yeah i get it but and i just didn't he's like it's not time
for me to go on ltir yet that's later man that's adam that's later that's adam wild talking it's
later that's that's march i didn't say um robert thomas almost started an international incident
did you guys see this no robert thomas of the st louis blues so i guess that robert thomas
was um with mcdavid and dry sidle and multiple oilers players when the offer sheet news broke
this summer oh and he insinuated matt larkin uh who is a great writer uh you should follow
matt larkin uh he's we worked at daily face off um he said so what matt's tweet says is this
when the offer sheet news broke he was with multiple oilers players including connor mcdavid
and leon dry saddle awkward moment and thomas explained they weren't too happy now connor
mcdavid spoke to the media and he said no we're not mad you're mad he didn't say it like that he
said i saw robbie's comments please don't report that i was mad exactly fooling right yeah connor
mcdavid i saw robbie's comments i thought they were pretty funny he said we were angry or something
like that i think it was more just surprised and leon dry side dry soldier said connor and i
weren't sitting there pouting like little babies okay can i can i you can we all saw
that footage from the oilers locker room after they lost game seven oh powerful heartbreaking
tears in their eyes they just watched their worst nightmares come true their dreams get crushed
and zach hyman stands up in front of the whole team and he gives an impassioned speech that
included i want every single man in this room to be back so we can try to do it again
i think the first game between the oilers and blues is going to be a fucking bloodbath
oh i can't wait it's gonna be awesome and and um uh i what i don't understand is why don't they
just go yeah we were kind of disappointed kind of sucks to lose two great guys nope i want connor
to be silent mad until jesse when is the first oilers blues game uh oiler i hope it simmers
and seethes and december 7th oh not too long christmas tree yeah blues uh go to edmonton
so the blues go to
they're dead
they're dead like
listen
are the blues better than the Oilers
are the Oilers better than the blues who beats who in a playoff series
whatever whatever
listen I don't know
who wins what individual
games
except that one the Oilers are going to fucking stomp
them they're going to kill that
hockey team if all involved
like all the main players involved
are playing
guarantee it they're gonna yeah 100 100 what if what if like broberg has come to jesus moment
has a giant game all the way just scores a hat trick connor mcdavid lifted miro hayskinen's
underwear over his head and blinded him with them in the playoffs philip broberg's dead
we'll see i'm ready they're excited there's it's oh oh the silent simmer and they get like what
20 25 games to warm up because we know they treat the beginning of the season like a fuck around
like last year oh they're gonna maul them they're gonna maul them tom gazzola from uh yeg sports
talk haven't in sports talk said hearing that evander kane and darnell nurse are expected to
start training camp on the shelf due to injury nurse has been on the ice for informal skates
and continues to heal up from a lingering injury in the playoffs.
The projection is he will be good to go later in camp.
And this sort of backs up what we've been hearing about Evander Kane
or has been whispered, which is, you know,
this could be one of those longer things.
And what I'm wondering is if we see a situation
where he comes back around trade deadline,
if he comes back, you know, oh, no, he's got an injury
that's going to keep him out until game one.
That's crazy.
No, that's not going to happen.
it won't be game one
you need to be able to
teams want to see what you have
right like 32 thoughts
Elliott Freeman was talking about Thatcher Demko last year
and one of the reasonable
requests the Canucks had
was we need to see you play two games
before the playoffs start
that's pretty reasonable you can't just be like
no I'm good
this is the most important time of year and
I'm fine because trust me bro
and then what happened you got hurt right
it's it's not how it works on that track by the way the the canucks seem to be a little bit worried
that thatcher demko trained too hard this summer oh really that's the report out of vancouver is
that they've they've told him to like you know sometimes you do have to tell these athletes to
like yo can you just that's an interesting maybe eat some doritos and sit on the couch man like uh
done because you know like they are extremely competitive and i'm sure he's probably thinking
like if i was there no disrespect to archer silas but if i was there we would have beat edmondson
he's probably thinking that right now sure i mean silas was great he was and i just think like you
know uh but that's how you have to think if you're a hockey player totally yeah with a vander kane
like vander kane's injuries as real as it gets he wasn't healthy enough to play in the stanley cup
final the final what was that five games because the last game he played was game two and in the
final two games that he played against florida he was useless zero shots on goal played about
10 minutes was a minus three like you if you remember he was limping around the ice do you
remember that and so like he's gonna be out and it makes sense that he's out uh Oilers are a
fascinating team I think trade deadline is closer to right um with Evander Kane but the Oilers like
okay so they've lost some guys right they lost we're gonna talk about this on their season preview
that we're recording actually after this but um uh so they lost Fogle they lost Holloway they
lost Broberg they've lost CeCe they have Stetcher Henrik and Perry and they're those are all guys
they added throughout the course of last season right so those are guys who aren't going to show
up as ads to the team but to me they are well and some more new faces Arvids and Skitter Pod
Colson with like we didn't even get to them yep yeah again I'm saving this for the yeah what are
what are you doing here well what i'm what i'm trying to say is those are guys who they were
like okay we're gonna get them we're gonna ease them in the lineup we're gonna see what we got
but this whole game one thing like that works for someone like mark stone or nikita kucherov who's
a star and a known quantity and you've worked with them uh forever um i i don't think that
works with evander kane at this stage in his career no i don't i don't imagine this injury
we're talking like hey he's gonna sit out 82 games no like no that's so many games i don't
think that's the expectation here for edmonton or it shouldn't be for the fans like he'll return
somewhere this season the middle beginning somewhere but um i don't think he sits out
till the playoff no no no no i agree um i'm one of my favorite headlines for no reason at all
this season i was looking at uh um sportsnet's website and mark specter had a piece on victor
arvidsson and here's the headline arvidsson drawn to the oilers for quote the hockey
i was like yeah man now writers don't before we go in on mark do not do that because writers don't
write the headlines but no they don't turns out they let you know about that it was it was the
article is about and we've we've there's been a lot of talk about this because oilers fans have
been subjected to the um mostly fully now canadian hey 18 no trade list so it's all of canada and
buffalo uh for years and a lot of players are taking their no trades off for edmonton because
who the hell's saying no to that who's saying no to that who the hell's saying no to the oilers
right now 100 and uh i guess matthias akholm was asked uh what drew victor arvidsson there and he
said it's the hockey people want to do better or want to get better people want to win i just look
at myself i am from up north in sweden too so i'm kind of used to the weather i think the weather is
a big part of it for players but i'm excited so what have we said before on the show every city's
great to live in if you're rich yeah it's pretty great yeah edmonton and mcdavid was saying that
too he's like listen turn up construction could be better he's like but it's not a hard city to
live in like it's pretty convenient turn up the heat the dude fine you'll you'll live yeah doesn't
mcdavid have a heated driveway he does yeah he does now i don't know if arvidson's quite in that
tax bracket but he's doing all right he could have heated drive he could have a heated driveway
he's in that tax bracket for sure uh matt martin is going to the aisles camp on a pto guys i think
cal clutterbug if i'm not mistaken he's still unsigned is this the end of that line yeah
identity line the identity line is that i have to i have to look that up but there was some talk
about that too is it finally because i think that's a big deal now lou is known for being a
like a soulless hard-ass and everything.
But he has, and we know this from his time with the Leafs,
he has used PTOs to do right by his guys.
And, you know, we've talked about this with the Leafs
and stuff happens throughout training camp.
And Matt Martin, at this stage in his career,
should he be in the top 12 for the Islanders?
Eh.
But what if something happens?
I don't even see Casey Zizekas in here.
So he's there in case.
No, no, he's there.
he's there casey's casey's there there you go so sezikis is there but like clutterbuck played in
with john tavaris and i think he was older and tavaris we talk about like he's old
and he's not a star right matt martin oh man oh man the sun sets on every nhl career like he's not
there on a pto because the islanders are like well let's familiarize ourselves with this guy
yeah they know what he can bring he's played for lou lamorello for the majority of his career at
this point i think um they know they know what to expect clearly lou likes him and has a lot of
respect for him yes i'm in toronto and i think he really likes immediately traded for him uh when he
went to the island this is a huge sign of respect from the islanders but also i think a sign of
where he's at in his career right now yeah yeah yeah so i just thought that was a little
interesting thing because that is that's been a big part of what the islanders have been for
with the exception of the one and a half year stint in toronto um a decade that line yeah oh
my god it reminds me a little bit of uh remember the leafs invited brandon prust to camp on a pto
yeah and then kept him for like a month into the season just because they're like yeah be good to
have him around uh i think this is what they're doing with matt martin and i want to say that
was under lew as well i don't think he goes down to the minors if he doesn't earn a role with the
team right uh no no yeah no like it doesn't feel unless he wants to be that guy you know unless
he wants to be like hey i'm the captain of the hl team this is what i'm gonna do i think he could
support right like like like kyle clifford at this point yeah yeah that's exactly the example
i was gonna give yeah like he you'd have to ask him right right not everyone wants to do that
yeah i know a cow cow clutterbuck he's just looking for a job like uh lou said that he's
not coming back so yeah that really is the end that's the end of the line yeah wow so he gets
assigned for like three more years yeah he's still there but clutterbuck's not coming back
so he's gotta look for a job and yeah who knows if matt martin makes the team is the in the nhl
the season i mean they're not like all right let's familiarize yourself no no they know who
matt martin is they're just not sure he's in their top 12 can i just say that i'm not looking forward
to our islander season preview because i just don't know like great man are you are you the
same you look the same um have you gotten better i don't know man it's just like like they're always
tricky yeah you gotta remember and they can take advantage of teams that fall and then play great
defense and then go to the second round but you gotta remember that it's september and any day
now they're about to announce oh yeah and we signed these four guys yeah that's true that is
very very true um yeah uh keith kincaid by the way has joined uh the islanders as well too yeah
he's at the rookie camp which is interesting 35 yeah how is this allowed well maybe he's a rookie
with the islanders what has he played for the islanders before i don't think so they got to
invite geo yeah yeah they have to invite you what are the rules for that obviously you can have a
35 i guess there's none yeah there's um there's leafs games this weekend like rookie camp oh yeah
this weekend there's hockey i think someone's playing games tonight yeah no yeah you're right
what are you talking about the universe leafs games outlined all the games bruins and penguins
panthers and predators devils and senators blah blah blah blah like we just keep going
and i said like how i actually texted him like kyle how do you watch these he's like well you
can watch pens and bruins on the penguins website all right wow that's cool like it would be nice
if the teams were like here here's a link you know i uh i was watching i think it was a rookie
camp game last year online and i was just in the comment section like we're all sick i think it's
we're all disgusting don't you like it i don't know of course i'm excited to see some rookie
camp i'm a pig in mud do i do i'm not gonna do so much like i'm not gonna have a hot take after
rookie camp oh bullshit it's cool to watch play ah no this guy he's not gonna make it sucks look
at that back check garbage uh jesse yeah i sent you something via text i'm not sure if you got it
yet but i would like to queue it up for the next segment if we could and it's a short one i love
when you're rock favor yeah now you get players don't look over there i'm not look at me looks
directly at me when you get nhl media day you get players taking pictures on the ice and yes um
brock favors pictures i think stood out to a lot of people okay uh have you seen brock favors
pictures i don't think so okay have a look what it looks like why it's a little clark kentish like
i'm gonna take off these glasses and be superman uh i have tried to wear glasses under my helmet
a bunch of times what a pain in the ass he's wearing his glasses under his visor okay if you
if you haven't if you're listening on audio and he sort of got the visor tipped up over his eyes
so he can see you but not through two panes of glass just his actual glasses not the visor i
love that why is he doing that they kind of go hard right you you ask why the reason why is
because he has an eyewear collection uh it's through it's through huxley they launched it
last year mid-season ish it's through huxley and there's also like a charitable um portion to it
so yeah i'll bring it up after it's such a i feel like it's an under talked about uh aspect of like
pro athletes like how many of them need eyewear how many of them wear contacts on the field and
like they're so particular about everything and like oh this neck guard's uncomfortable like
i wonder if guys are like no i don't feel comfortable playing with contacts i just i'll
just going fuzzy you know what i mean yeah yeah i play hockey fuzzy i mean i know i'm not the same
but i'm just saying like we should run that right we should run that video and i'm michael jordan
of of what of steve getting blown up at hockey oh my gosh yeah maybe that wasn't my damn fault
maybe you should put some contact yeah that wasn't my fault just give your periphery a little uh a
little bit of a boost there yeah be okay it's not hurting my so last season december 1st uh
there's a pr notice uh brock faber and huxley optical to launch signature glasses collection
and move that celebrates heritage hometown pride minnesota wild defenseman brock faber has teamed
up with huxley optical a twin cities based small business to launch an exclusive collection of
glasses for over a decade huxley optical has been crafting fashionable affordable eyewear
from minnesota's diverse community emphasizing transparency customization and meticulous
craftsmanship so uh what's the charitable line as well uh reinforcing the hendrickson
foundation's belief that hockey is for everyone five percent of all proceeds from the faves
and page collection so page is his sister uh page paper collections will be donated to the
hendrickson foundation and minnesota wild special hockey where page plays so there you go yeah it's
it's really cool and why not just reinforce not your um your persona as the guy with the glasses
then you go to media day you throw on the glasses now if if he was on the la kings under mark
bergevin he'd have been traded by now well uh but but they already did that the minnesota wild have
allowed brock faber to be a person and i think that's cool it's really cool good for them good
for them um less lest he have a personality i'm just looking there's so i didn't know anything
about brock faber's sister there appears to be an article on the nhlpa website that we uh uh can
maybe link to brock faber's sister page a star athlete and member of minnesota's special hockey
shares her younger brother's love for the game i didn't know that that's really cool yeah that's

Um, the NHL, and this one's going to be spicy for you.
Oh boy.
The NHL are monitoring teams, quote, income tax situations, but say, but say there are no easy fixes.
Who?
Who could they be referring to?
So I'm going to give you a Bill Daley quote, and then I'm going to give you a Shane Pinto quote.
Oh, OK.
It's an issue that comes up from time to time in our room at the board level and the general manager's level, said Bill Daley.
there are no easy fixes it's not like we can just pick from column a and fix the problem overnight
players make decisions on where they want to play for a variety of reasons their bottom line
is one of them but the quality of life and the communities they live in is probably more
important now what did we just say about specifically edmonton but any any part of
canada when you're rich any city's great now here's what shane pinto had this could be greater
shane is a man of the people and he's got a damn good mustache too does he he said they have to
find a way to tweak it honestly oh if you look at all these free agents you don't blame them for
going down south it just is what it is and it's the best for their families and taxes and lifestyle
wise but i do think they have to find a way especially for the canadian teams they've got
to overpay guys to come to Canada every time and that messes up the cap I think they have to find
a way to just even it out I know it's not easy because it's been like that forever but I think
it would be nice given the even playing field now let me say this guys do you have the John
Tavares quote about this issue no I don't I don't but that could be a problem is that my lawyers
currently in court yeah he's he's at war with the Canada Revenue Agency let me say this let me say
this uh it's a really easy fix that's tougher than chara that's that's a tough one uh you take
the percentage of income tax for people in the bracket and in canada it's over 250 grand and
then everybody's in the same bracket and it's 52 based on province in ontario it's 52 when you get
up over 250 grand um they'll live yes they'll live but what you do is you work a percentage
out where it's even across the entire no because that's not how it works for most of the athletes
like they don't have to live in the state where they play they also file 41 different income taxes
for all of the cities they play yes you play in la that day you're filing california tax so i
shouldn't say it's not 41 technically i'm just talking about how many games are not in their
home market but you're filing taxes for the game you played in la because you earn that income
there so it doesn't work a blanket across the board you charge teams in canada this because
the guys it's a pretty easy math wait this is easy no i would just leave it what why why would
you leave it when that when we're talking about some in some cases a 15 to 20 percent difference
and and like guys like alan walsh will tell you if you manage your money properly this should not
be a problem yeah however that's being challenged in canada right now on tavaris so the way tavaris
did it is the way that they do it alan says that and i believe him alan's a very smart guy but the
vast majority of players in the nhl disagree with that notion well do they disagree or do they not
understand they probably don't understand it yeah uh both yeah and and that's okay i just think
people disagree with things they don't understand right the idea the idea so jesse while that's true
41 games still are at home yes so that so so but then how do you how do you calculate a tax break
for certain guys because they're going to be living there certain parts of the year and other
guys who aren't going to be living there and like say okay you you live you play in a certain market
in a state how does that work across the board it does the majority of your money is going to be
made in the whole market but it's not a blanket for everybody it's not a blanket we're all paying
the same rate so how can you put a blanket implementation of this salary cap to the team
well i don't think you do a blanket i think you have to adjust by market so what's the what's the
income tax in whatever territory yeah and then you go okay so this team if they're signing a guy
like like for instance with the cap everything's in american dollars right right everything like
when matthew signs 13 and 1325 that's not canadian dollars canadian dollars that's like 17 million or
whatever it is uh it is yeah yeah so so they're so they do everything in american dollars what i
would suggest is and again not a mathematician this will shock you is you have to look at the
income tax at every part i think quebec's got the highest i think ontario's up there i think bc's up
there and you have to look at what's the overage a team can spend in real dollars not because again
canadian teams pay in american dollars so but their real dollars are higher than the american
dollar figure what can they overpay in real dollars to even that out you cannot have a system
that you claim is fair like the one thing about parity is if it's going to be if we're going to
talk about financial parity which the nhl claims that's their key factor we want everybody on the
same playing field financially when it comes to the cap you have to have an income tax variant
variant in there and listen there's probably some accountants listening right now going adam you're
doing a really bad job by representing us and here's how i do it leave it in the comments i
don't know i uh you know parents can talk about certain things at the dinner table because the
child at the table is not going to have a basis of understanding for the yeah that's me right now
Well, and I, and I think here's the whole thing you're trying to do is even out what
the player takes home.
So if I play, if I play in Tampa or if I play in Toronto, I'm going to take home the same
thing.
My point is that the two guys, we could sit next to each other as players on the Tampa
Bay lightning, but our take, if even if we both made $5 million, I can probably take
home a different amount than you because of how I live my life in terms of where I live
in the off season, where I live during the season.
you know like i could live in pennsylvania but play in new york but the nhl and the nhlpa are
not responsible for that they are responsible for where they play during the season yes so no i'm
even during the season i'm just saying paid only during if the if the goal is for the the take-home
pay to be the same each player's situation would have to be the same and their accounting would
have to i don't i don't think that's necessarily the case i don't think the implementing some sort
of tax variant is fixing any problem i think it's i think because i i agree with you when you talk
about cost of living like it's going to cost more to live in new york than it is in nashville
right clear yeah well you sign in new york you know that but if you are objectively making five
million you're making five million in nashville you're making five million in new york and yes
it costs more to live in new york but your take-home pay is still less that is where i think
the nhl can do something they can't do anything about how you spend your money
cost of living and i think this should be a union issue because the union should be going hey some
of our guys are gonna get screwed by income tax here and they should all be making the money that
the take-home should be the same i do think there's a math calculation in there and that that never
has to reach the fans like we don't have to be taking that into account but there should be a
variable of here's an equalization so that you know if you make five million in nashville your
take are you adjusting with uh canadian players who live in canada and make american dollars
like i think absolutely you are i mean you're already doing it you're already doing it in what
way well because you're paying them the money goes into their account in american dollars yeah it
does yeah so i'm saying that money goes further so then are you scaling that back against the
tax system where they put it's like i i don't understand the adjustments we're making and
like it doesn't well i haven't formulated the plan it doesn't sound like it's equalized it
doesn't sound like it's achieving the goal here of making everything equal well i don't think
everything can be we've talked about that right like a market like toronto is always going to
have more money than a market like columbus that's just the way it is but i think you can equalize
at very least if that's if the nhl is going to have what we call the triple hard cap
then it has to be actually fair right if we are gonna if we are going to and i'm somebody who
hates the cap but if we are going to have it it should be fair it should be team x and team y are
completely different cities but if you play for team x you will make the same as if you play for
team y regardless of income tax your take-home pay would be the same and i don't care how they
get there that's a smart person's problem i'm just guy with podcast who says doesn't that seem
to make sense i mean tell me where that doesn't make sense it it only makes sense if it puts more
money in the pockets of teams and or players well players it would and so teams might not like that
wouldn't it or actually governments might not like that i don't know i mean maybe the teams
don't care because it's just a little extra money i don't know is it a canadian is it a
canadian team issue where it's like okay now we got to overpay them even more so that the tax
system will accommodate this but then year in year out taxes change in different places
Well, so does the cap.
Yeah.
Bubble on.
No, no, no.
It's flat against all the teams.
Like, I feel like that's something the NHL controls.
It's like, it's 88 million.
Yeah.
The standard is the cap goes up unless the world stops, right?
Yeah.
The cap goes up no matter what.
Taxes kind of ebb and flow.
And what do all these teams have?
Accountants.
Ice building.
Oh, accountants.
And what do all these agencies have?
We interviewed on Agent Provocateur, one of the guys who's the accountant for Octagon Hockey.
Yeah. And what Alan said is that the tax rates don't matter in that in the end, that's what he's always said.
We'll see what happens to guys. And I and I agree with you, Jesse, but it's not understood by the players.
And therefore, it's an obvious disadvantage. It's an obvious disadvantage.
Whether or not that's true, the perception is I can't get my money the same way in the north as I can in the south.
and when i look at um uh when i look at all the other things too like oh by the way i get to play
golf all year round if i live in florida that's also great but i i would i would bet that and i
think this is the same for most people when you have one career and you've got a short window to
make as much money as possible you're going to the place that can make you the most money and
right now it's you not only do you have the best weather you also have the most money in these
places places like florida places like tennessee formerly arizona as well what happens when a
player named chuck puck signs an eight-year contract with the florida panthers and he only
plays one year there before your uncle is correct and alexandria ocasio-cortez becomes the dictator
of florida and declares a 90 tax a socialist republic yeah dictator of florida then they
adjust that's the whole thing the cap adjusts yeah but i wish they also don't adjust for like
the canadian dollar you know like i don't well they do adjust for the canadian dollar they just
say you pay in american dollars and whatever the canadian dollar is at that's no but hey no but
i'm saying your money goes further or your money's less at that moment so there yeah i think i think
the reality though is that on both sides of the border things like obviously cost of living if
you go the second you cross the invisible barrier from buffalo like upstate new york to ontario
things go up like 30 and it's not just the dollar conversion it's straight up it's more expensive to
live here the the they can't account for that they cannot account for that and i agree on that but
they can account for taxes they can account for taxes absolutely and it's also weird to be just
to be advocating for like oh make it easier to take the players away from tampa you know well
it's not i mean you're gonna get a little bit like oh no they're too good like make it make
toronto make it better for toronto yes half the owners in the league are gonna say no
like what like the ones who want this very clearly benefit from it and the ones who don't
don't and to me it just seems like it's gonna be a stalemate it just seems like it doesn't need to
be a priority for the league above i think it's all their other priority whether they're gonna
to take it or not i think it's a pa oh it's a pa issue that's what it should well that settles
that what made you happening what made you flip-flop from what alan talked about for years
and that it doesn't really matter to i think it's the execution of it i think we've already when we
talked about the fact that players are like yeah that's great i don't understand that and here's
the thing alan's system and the system that a lot of players use is currently being challenged in
court right now sure the tavaris thing part of it is bonus what's considered bonus and how that's
taxed in this country but part of it is uh players have to take their wealth and essentially lock it
up it's like you got to take this and you got to put it away isn't this part of what escrow is
no oh so well you're you're talking specifically about canadian hockey players what about guys who
play in california who pay a higher tax i think they do a similar thing there i think it's locked
in like a corporation and when there's it's it's really minutiae it's extremely like
So what made you?
I'm not flip-flopping.
I'm looking at the,
I do still agree with Alan
that yes, you can do that.
I just don't think
a lot of guys understand it.
And I don't think they will.
And I don't think they care.
It's like, oh, well,
I could do all that shit
or I can just sign
right down the road there
and that sure looks a lot better
and it's easier.
So because the guys
don't understand or care,
you think that the league
should change to help those guys?
Yes.
And help those teams.
Or better inform them.
Oh, come on.
You're going to make them read tax law?
Come on.
Like, that's not fair.
These guys are hockey players.
I don't expect them to know that stuff.
Right?
And maybe some of them do.
But anyway, we'll move on.
But I do want to throw that out there.
I do think that should happen.
By the way, we, along with a bunch of other shows,
talked about the Roberto Luongo clip that went viral.
Apparently, Greg Wyshynski is here to ruin the party.
Thanks, Wish.
Thanks, Greg, from ESPN.
He said, in reality, that was not what happened.
He did not answer a Facebook ad to join a local hockey team for their championship.
It was a combination of them needing a goalie and Luongo being at the practice that day
and saying, hey, I'll play.
And Zach Randolph was the guy that was interviewed on it.
Adult hockey coordinator at the Panthers Ice Den in Coral Springs.
Having current and former NHL players walking around the facility there is commonplace.
Since many of their children skate at the rink,
Panthers players have been known to drop in randomly.
on the day of the Florida Stanley Cup Parade.
Three Panthers players stopped by to celebrate
during a men's league game.
Lomberg was one of the guys,
and he dropped the puck for a face-off.
Love that.
Yeah, who's now in Calgary.
So I just think...
Actually, I like that story better
that he just happened to be there.
No, you should tell the full story.
Well, I didn't want to wreck Greg's article.
Do it.
What's he ever done for us?
Screw that guy.
What's he ever done for us?
Screw that guy.
um okay so do you want me to start from the beginning here uh so basically the team
what's the title of the goaltender um was unavailable okay uh and they were sitting
in their dress room nervously and then obviously you see luongo walk in uh and a guy uh the captain
of the team brad bargman uh said i got a shiver down my spine i couldn't believe it because this
is what i prayed for i was like this guy is going to be amazing uh while their playoff game took
place on august 15th news of the loango moonlighting in a beer league only spread uh this week when a
video of their locker room entrance went viral um uh when each when reached by comment or reach
for comment by espn loango said it's an urban legend and i prefer to leave it that way um and
And basically, Bargman had known Luongo for some time.
He coached Luongo's son Gianni, and Luongo now coaches Bargman's son Bryce.
He sometimes wondered if Luongo would suit up for the Beer League Leafs,
but felt that asking him would be taking advantage of the friendship,
which I understand.
I get that.
He's also a big fan of the Florida Panthers.
And Bargman says that no Rogretskis, which was the name of the team,
are comprised of players who used to be on the beer league leafs a few years ago he said things
happened disagreements persisted and they left me uh and they started their own team and i guess
that's how it all came this is a long it's a long article but that's that's the fun part of the
thing is that the team they were playing the noragretzky's in the semi-final against the
beer league leafs um they had formed this other team and on that team the noragretzky's was p i
I can't pronounce.
Peter Sheslevy.
Peter Sheslevy, who's a former NHL player.
I remember him.
No way.
And the GM of the Beer League Leafs, Brad,
he was adamant that no NHL players or ex-NHL players
should be in our Beer League.
You know, we shouldn't have a guy who's played for the Sens
and the Ducks and over in the KHL for years.
He's played hundreds and hundreds.
Yeah, bring up his hundreds.
Yeah, playing in the NHL.
Holy moly.
Playing in our Beer League.
Like, this is for fun.
forget so he was like no peter can't be on our team so then the guys who wanted to be on peter's
team went and formed their own team which became the noragretskis and the noragretskis went on to
win a couple championships with peter and then they reached the semifinals their goalies out
brad has saw roberto luongo earlier that day and he's like our goalies out who's gonna play for us
luongo luongo's like i will and then luongo actually shows up plays for them they end up
winning four two in the semis and then they go on to win the championship with uh their goalie who
came back no yeah and greg's line in there is that um it was a dream for all hockey fans because
luongo helped bring a cup to the leafs as we all knew he would finally we all knew it the reason
that luongo ended up saying yes is because he has a day with the cup in montreal and he he's going
to be on the ice for that day with the cup in montreal and he's going to be playing goalie and
stuff and entertaining all the fans so he wanted a warm-up and and he did this for those guys and
they ended up winning for him he's just addicted to winning now this motion of raising something
above his head he's addicted to it now shatsley who's one of the goal scorers in the game yeah
love that he scored from long distance on like a wobbler that went through luongo and luongo was
talking he said he was like super tired like through the second period he's like i'm not
gonna get through this i guess it's a really competitive league yeah jason york about it
because if he played for the sins in that era that you're showing i think he probably would
have played with yorkie yeah yeah adam the the league is like high the highest level of beer
league you can get if you got an ex nhl player if if your main concern is you can't have nhl
players in this league you got a good league that's a good league yeah and the fact that
around the rink. You just have NHLers popping in every now and again. It's really cool.

w locations in ontario uh wish um greg wischinski we call him wish uh wish also uh broke some news
today um real news none of this luongo personality stuff this fluff this greg wischinski espn fluff
never heard of them clearly trying to take our name and make it into something you know what um
big college college hockey news college hockey uh whl's braxton whitehead of course uh has reached
a verbal commitment for the 25 26 season from arizona state of the ncaa this is the first
ncaa commitment for a chl player since a proposed class action suit was filed
against the NCAA.
Now, if you remember,
because CHL players are given room and board
and a per diem,
that's considered by the corrupt NCAA,
and I will call them the corrupt NCAA.
Sure.
Because it's been proven time and time again
that they're corrupt.
That is getting paid to play a sport.
That's such bullshit.
And therefore, you cannot come
and you can come get an education here,
but you can't play for our teams.
And so obviously there's been this class action
that has not actually gone to court yet.
It's going to take years.
If we have an answer by 2030, I'll be surprised.
But, wow, it seems like it's probably going to change now.
So a lot of people responded to this.
So Alan Walsh, I don't know if you've heard of him,
he said, the walls are coming down.
Several NCAA head coaches have told me
they expect former CHL players in the NCAA
as soon as next season.
Chris Peters, who runs Flow Hockey,
does a lot of prospect stuff,
has a, I think he just announced a deal with the
AHL and ECHL too, good for him
he said, going to be interesting to
watch in terms of timing
suit still has not been heard in court
and the rule barring CHL players is on the books
for now, won't be surprised if others
start positioning themselves similarly
smart for CHL overagers to
explore this option
and frankly, when you think about it
like, most CHL players
are not going to make the NHL
and wouldn't it be great
if they could take their great talent
to an american school uh and go get an education and play great hockey and you know what frankly
there are so many players in the ncaa who do not develop into great hockey players until they're
22 or 23 and maybe you don't go to the nhl but maybe you got it maybe you got a good career in
europe where you're making a quarter million tanner pearson is the enormous exception to the
rule where you're two years after your draft eligibility and some team goes actually after
deciding you weren't good enough to draft for two years we're going to take you in the first round
right and then you're going to go on to have a long nhl career what happens with a lot of
overagers is they shoot their shot they fall just short they're like okay i'll try it again
and they fall short and then they're 20 and what do you do and the only league
nating university you could you could and it's becoming a better and better option but a lot of
guys are like i i don't know i what what do i do with my life right like it's we get thrown into
this whether we're in hockey or not into the situation where we're 17 18 19 20 and you got
to pick what you want to do with the rest of your life and a lot of these guys are just not prepared
to answer that question sure and i look at this guys and i go for the ends from the ncaa's
perspective why wouldn't they want this i this raises the level of the talent in their program
and there is one more issue i should say oh sorry for the overagers there's a maximum amount of them
allowed on any given chl team i believe the number's five oh so you're unless you're really
really good so well can't be a tweener and a team might be like we have six and you're the one we
don't want so you got to pack up and go now so now you got to drop your life you still get to
play in the ohl but now you got to go play somewhere else and by the way the the the room
and board and the per diem is like next to nothing yes it's so small like you just get through the
week yeah i don't um i don't really understand why the ncaa doesn't want this well that's what
i mean is that i feel and i you guys correct me if i'm wrong here the way i look at this is i'm
like if i'm the ncaa i'm like oh i got a bunch of guys who are already well trained like they
i was just looking at um uh the france uh instagram page came up and they were going
through all the staff that they've hired like their strength and conditioning and nutrition
and all these people that are you know uh starting out their careers as well and a lot of people in
hockey started in the chl and you kind of go okay they got all of that to their advantage and then
they're gonna go into school where a lot of ncaa ncaa players are coming out of like triple a and
high school and maybe they're at sports performance academies but all the same uh is it more
competition good doesn't this and and if you're um a d1 university it's obvious but what about if
you're one of those university programs that's trying to grow their hockey program and you take
a lot of these guys right maybe you're not the most popular destination for the best players
in the country right now but what if you were to grow it and and and pad your pad your stats get
you know get better players in i don't think universities don't want talent i think they do
yes doesn't make any sense it's weird it feels like it's the corrupt ncaa uh the corrupt ncaa
getting in the way of the corrupt ncaa yeah it benefits them like him him declaring for the team
like he we expect this rule to be changed for next season like if he if he says he's gonna play
2025 26 season like if if asu is like oh yeah you can commit to us then i think this will be done
by 12 months from now jesse the the rule about video games which is why we're able to get an
ncaa football game now um or a college football game what was the actual change there was it was
about players being able to get paid how does that work yeah because you couldn't use your name
and likeness nil your can use your name and likeness for the history of the ncaa and then
that changed so ea sports was able to offer some sort of compensation which largely was just like
a free copy of the game and like 100 bucks or something like that to all the all the players
names and likeness they used in the game so that's what changed and big in the ncaa in the last
decade or so half decade you know it's everybody's allowed to be paid to do brand deals and they can
make a whole ton of money right yeah because a lot of them were like it was interesting when
they were doing exposés and some of these players and maybe it's not football um or maybe it is
football where you're not one of the star players but you still do have a scholarship and you don't
have any money yeah right you're getting a free ride but like you come from a background that's
disadvantaged and you don't have how do i how am i going to get groceries this week yeah and
And since NIL has been implemented, guys in NCAA are making millions of dollars.
And that's how it always should have been because NCAA doesn't want to play the players.
But why did you stop athletes for 100 years from just going to Nike and being like, I want a shoe deal?
Why was that ever not allowed?
And now it is, and it makes total sense.
But it's also kind of skewed the college recruitment game where teams now work with brands to give their players NIL deals.
and pay them quote through that right so it's like alabama we got a deal with nike for every
recruit that signs and you're going to get this this deal with nike if you come sign with us so
they've and then oregon can't offer that or something even though oregon's a nike school
yep conflated things but besides the point sure um they can't offer that so it's the kind of
skewed agreements but like that's the game big schools will always be able to find ways to pay
people over the smaller schools so yeah oh no you know what we can't pay the players but we are
going to pay our coach 30 million yeah yeah caitlin clark is one of the best examples where
everybody's worried that when she goes to the wnba she's going to make less money because when she
had her nil deals in at iowa she was making so much hand over fist and then you go to wnba the
salary is like nothing for a rookie and all that stuff but then she signs a bunch of brand deals
and everything's fine turns out she's fine yeah good for but yeah you can make a ton of money as
a top ncaa athlete these days which is how it always should have been so these guys who are
going from the chl to the ncaa hopefully like if they can now make a significant amount of money
like it's it's a shame that the ncaa is limiting that for players right now where it's like okay
you're a pro athlete because you play in the chl like that doesn't that doesn't line up with how
we look at the chl so i think by the time this year rolls around uh it'll all be lifted and
they'll lose that loss or settle that lawsuit i might feel differently if someone was in the ahl
for a full year and then was like i'm a student no no then you're a liar right like that no like
you actually play played professional hockey but don't sit here and tell me major juniors
profession no stop that's that's it's always been a ridiculous rule and i think yeah if you
play you're 21 years old you played in this major junior team like it's minor leagues
because you're not a pro athlete.
So yeah, Braxton.
Where's he from?
Oh, man.
Did you look it up?
Steve loves this.
Okay, I'm going to do province,
and then if I get province, I'll do city.
He's American.
Oh, bad start.
Braxton.
It's not for the reason you think.
Maine.
Alaska.
Damn.
Wow.
you love who's your boy from alaska oh phoenix copley from north pole alaska he loves that
trivia and uh over the plate in alaska jeremy sway over a last couple years there was an alaska
versus alaska game phoenix copley against jeremy swayman i don't know what your obsession is with
hockey players from alaska he's from north pole alaska braxton's from i think palmer alaska so
not quite north pole but i would be equally as excited if a player played in a city called
easter bunny land but it's called north pole alaska phoenix gobbledy phoenix gobbledy there
we go north pole alaska get a jar uh and also teddy blue from riga latvia um i want to so one
of the things that we've talked about a lot and then we'll go to the press conference here if
We've got time is the 2018 and the 2019 drafts and the players from those
drafts and how they kind of got screwed by COVID.
Yes.
What's interesting when you go to hockey TV and you check out the 2019 first
round is that every single player that was drafted in the first round,
and this is really rare,
has played at least one game in the NHL thus far.
Wow.
Except for Ryan Suzuki,
the 28th overall pick to Carolina.
He was drafted out of Barry.
he's had uh he just was with the thunderbirds last year uh springfield uh and had a pretty
good year 30 points in 51 games still remains to be seen if he plays and even that like 28th
overall pick that's very late carolina very good team absolutely and probably didn't need him didn't
need him he's the centerman probably didn't need him so i look at you know you look at guys this
is the draft that had you know uh jack hughes and bowen byram and uh you know one of the guys in
the top five that hasn't quite turned into what they were hoping is alex turcotte in la he's
supposed to take a big step forward this year um you know phil broberg was drafted there it's
interesting and i'm bringing up phil broberg for one one reason and one reason alone craig morgan
uh who was the coyotes main reporter is now doing a lot of utah hc stuff um has reported this
morning just a few minutes ago that victor soderstrom who was the 11th overall pick to
arizona right shot defenseman has played just 30 less games than philip broberg in the nhl
and utah hc have reached a contract impasse meaning they will not uh that they that he
doesn't appear that he is going to be um uh signing with utah signing with utah rfa he is an
rfa and uh it doesn't appear that there is anybody either wanting to take him or willing to pay
whatever Utah wants to pay
or wants you to pay to take him.
So he is going to explore signing
with a team in Switzerland or Sweden.
Now, I thought it was really interesting
to compare Soderstrom with Broberg.
Broberg, obviously,
and Stan Bowman's right
when he says he's overpaid,
but he was actually very effective
for the Oilers last year in the playoffs,
especially when they finally played him.
There's no,
no one gets underpaid with an offer sheet.
Right, right.
Like, what are you talking about?
But Phil Broberg is still,
hey, he's a first round guy
and he was an eighth overall pick.
So they were only picked
four spots aside from each other.
And here's the interesting thing.
Soderstrom in 53 career games
has one goal and 10 assists.
So 11 points.
In 81 career games,
Philip Broberg has two goals
and 11 assists.
Wow.
So Soderstrom's points per game
is actually higher
than Philip Broberg's.
Does that mean he's a better player?
I haven't done the scouting
on Victor Soderstrom specifically,
but I just thought it was interesting
how thin the margins can be sometimes and i wonder if this is one of those situations in utah where
okay you've reached a contract impact that could get noisy well you've reached an a quote-unquote
impasse with a guy who had his development curved as a lot of these guys didn't uh screwed up by
covid i would i would call victor and i'd be like hey man you know you heard of nick robertson right
that was the first place my mind went and and listen i'll say this utah is loaded on the right
side yep surrogate surrogate chefs left though right he's left yeah but you got jersey there
and they got somebody else they have a decent decor they got a good decor i haven't done that
we haven't done the previews for them i know i know they got three great defensemen this year
in my head i'm like moser nope not anymore uh let's go at daily face off and we'll find out
there you go uh the point of i'm trying to make here poorly is that yeah you got jersey marino
the guy i was talking about and michael kesselring you're probably not playing for the team in the
nhl this year and he probably feels like he should be and i'm imagining that they're trying to get
him on a on a two-way deal like peltier in in calgary whereas he probably wants a one-way so
he's got to slip through although i don't know if he'd have to slip through waivers on his first rfa
deal because i don't know the cap that well we keep talking so like if you're uh 2018 yeah so
your entry-level slides entry-level slides you play one two three seasons now you're an rfa and
you've barely played shit because the world stopped so all these guys like they're either
like struggling to even have a job or struggling to stay in the nhl or making millions dollars less
than they probably anticipated they were going to and i don't um i don't uh i'm not going to
chastise these guys for feeling pissed off about their situation i do want something better it's
likely like because in a lot of people don't know this the ahl if you sign a two-way deal
your nhl salary could be like 875 your ahl salary could be like 500 grand yeah oh sorry sorry
on the high end yeah teams could be like ah here you go the sun and the moon but no you could make
a few years ago i think minimum was 70 so sodastrom this could benefit utah because a they
don't have to pay b he goes and plays big minutes in in europe it benefits him because he could
probably make a quarter million to a half million at a club oh yeah or more in in uh in sweden or
switzerland and come back in a couple years and this is gonna like this is often forgotten he'll
play he'll play he'll play and those leagues listen they're not the ahl yeah but they're
great leagues yeah it's fun do you get as many eyeballs on you maybe not but maybe you maybe
your club gets lucky and goes to the whole Inca tournament and like you get
to do some crazy international shit and whatever.
I'm not,
I'm not trying to demean European leagues by saying that.
I'm just saying when you're in the AHL,
you have NHL.
Oh,
Spangler.
I was,
it took me a sec too.
I'm like,
Nope,
that's not the right one.
Spangler.
You,
when you are in the AHL,
you have more eyes on you than you do in Europe.
End of story for NHL.
But I still think this might actually be smart for both sides.
It could,
it could.
I mean,
it's,
I'm,
I'm honestly surprised there aren't more situations like this.
Arizona Coyotes did not operate like a hockey team for the last few years.
And now they are.
And I'm surprised it hasn't thrown more things out of whack.
You know what I mean?
I'm surprised this is the only situation where it's like,
hi, we're not even fucking trying.
They weren't.
They weren't trying to sell tickets.
They weren't trying to win games.
they weren't trying to do fucking anything um and now that they are actually trying it looks like
this one guy who actually kind of benefited from the situation a little bit by getting into the
lineup for a team that wasn't even fucking trying um now he's kicked out um i don't think there's
an easy solution here like there's no guarantee there's other teams out there who are like yeah
we'll get you in the lineup i honestly thought it'd be noisier from utah this offseason because
of that it's kind of quiet literally moving states moving cities with a whole new roster and
news new city and everything so i thought like they'd go spend all this money they weren't
spending and guys would would want to leave and come but none of that really happened they kind
of stand put they kind of it's sneaky they did it like all at once remember like we signed this guy
that guy that is a circus have trade and that was it and like almost radio silence but it wasn't
like a dozen moves it was kind of more of a handful yeah no there was one day where they
were hands down it was one or two days they were hands down the noisiest team in hockey and then
they vanished but maybe i underestimated how much time it takes to just like get your feet on the
ground like oh yeah let's not do a bunch of stuff because we're moving states and cities that let's
just slow down and keep everything kind of the same hey we have a building now um is it like
staffed like do people work there stop no no i'm like i'm serious that's literally like you have
to find out like who from our hockey ops is gonna move from arizona to utah where are we gonna live
yeah so i feel like my my perspective on it should have been different and been like there's
gonna be nothing happening because there's so much fluctuation yeah that's stuff something to
keep keep in mind and by the way uh maurit cider was also drafted in that draft and so was yeah i
said bone by needs a contract those are the byram cider and broberg were the only defenseman taken
before soderstrom pretty great list yeah good list man yeah good good list anyway uh do we have time
for a press conference or are we wrapping jesse uh we can do a quick one all right quick one

sponsored it is nhl player car watch oh yes uh thank you to the two individuals who sent in
our latest nhl player car watches this first one comes from flames fan dan so dan sent in
andre kuzmenko at a chevrolet in calgary oh it's okotoks i've been to that chevrolet have you
really just outside of calgary so calgarians oh sorry no no it's it's calgary jesse but people
in calgary like that's not calgary that's okotoks so dave who i assume uh hooked koozie up with this
uh chevrolet gmc i don't know was that a c a denali that's i can see on the side denali
uh he tweeted that koozie has arrived it's flame season soon we're overdue for some good things to
happen here nowhere to go but up the next couple years and then there's koozie up front of his
Denali in his little hoodie
and sweatpants.
Zero out of ten on the tweet.
What do you mean?
You gotta put hashtag we are a gold star.
Yeah, true.
If it's a Milstein client
and you're not saying we are. Come on.
Come on.
No, that's... Thank you, Jesse.
I feel like we gotta have
some sort of rating system with NHL
Car Watch. Do you rate
the car? Do you rate the picture?
I think we gotta rate the presentation.
Have you guys seen the video of Malkin and is it Crosby
and some of these other young guys?
Letang.
And Letang at a Pittsburgh dealership in like 2007?
Max Talbot.
Is it Max Talbot?
No, Crosby's not there, but it is Malkin, Letang.
And they dance.
And it's terrible.
It's the worst video.
And it's the best.
It's the best and worst video I've ever seen in my life.
Ovechkin has another one.
He sings.
No way.
Sings and dances.
I know he's in a rap video in Russia too.
That was funny.
He is.
but it's so there's they have no charisma uh like like the the riz is zero oh i don't know
and i think talbot had and the riz and they like throw the keys at each other like it's so bad
and and so if we're using that as like our that's our that's our sort of um beam in which like you
know the bar that's what it is that i feel like koozie even goes under that because at least
because i can't even tell that that's kuzmenko in that like he's the picture the picture it's
like unless you really know the guy right all right look at his like i you can't tell that
okay no the picture is just a little far away you're right there it definitely looks like i'm
so proud of my nephew for graduating he turned he turned 18 we got him a denali you know it does
it does here i'm gonna throw this out there he smiled he did smile he did smile but morgan's
picture with the mercedes hat on they took two photos one out in front one in the car
they do the selfie like that gets a higher rate yes no selfie yeah no yeah how do we okay we have
to figure out how a rating system but i think that yeah we need some sort of so yeah if you
got an idea for a rating system maybe we do like five tires out of five like i don't know i like
that i don't know i give that a one and a half tires one and a half tires five tires is perfect
because there are not five tires yeah that's why it's funny that's why it's ridiculous okay and
secondly just give me a second to pull this one up this one was sent in by richard clay thank you
richard um at r clay 321 on twitter so richard alerted us to this second player in today's nhl
car watch oh it is a tiktok video for everybody listening it's a tiktok video and the caption
says regular gt3rs and the question mark and then you see it and then they're doing oh it's got
little shots of the porsche oh fun wait it's stanley cup winner colton parejos dude is there
two colton parekos or it's just one what do you mean yeah oh yeah the name is pareko they're
making them greek no pareko like it's his car oh no apostrophe zero out of ten that's why you guys
got hung up yes it is i was like does this person know who okay so it's colton prego's uh gt very
nice there it is yeah and by the way i love a porsche with the deckling on it it's the nice
like i love the throwback love love i think it's sick that pareko went to a car meetup
oh it's amazing like and brought his porsche and walked around took photos drove it away
really fast and then everybody got to see it like i think that's sick no that's what these
meetups are known for also safety perhaps what they should have not done is put his license
plate on the video that is that the license plate is visible on the video but it's out there now
uh but yeah look at that thing that is hot i love i love carbon on a car and look at that
yeah beautiful where do you get that thing giant tiger what are you talking about walmart
what are you oh what are you just what is happening i don't know i've there's another
pull and pareko out there ready to kick your ass mr mazda is like my mask that horse yeah sorry i
i like a nice reliant automobile thank you very much holden pareko you me one-on-one race
thinking your nose up at a porsche when you're driving when you drive a mazda he drives a porsche
your car occasionally hits 100 hey hey okay adam i don't drive the land yacht anymore
my parents 1995 ford tourist station wagon that i used to drive around that's right not anymore
maddie bring it back up look at this look at this that's hot yeah that's well done i'm not the fan
of giant spoilers i think they're a little tacky but i can see how it adds to the aesthetic of a
car like agreed yeah and if you're into that like that is a well because most giant spoilers the
reason you're probably not into them jesse's because they look like shit yeah because somebody
stuck them on their their honda accord yeah my uncle my uncle chris helps me bolt this to my
fucking shitty car that has rust on it like you know i yeah that to me if i'm with you i don't
love a gigantic rear spoiler that's aftermarket right that car is done well yes what's wrong with
uncle chris you're a piece of shit steve's not feeling this he doesn't like cars he doesn't get
it yeah steve's got an hl car watch uh what are you giving this at a five tires oh man that's a
five for me five tires out of five that's a bold don't you think i don't know if this is the bar
like you guys complain about the caption on on the video if we're if we're doing the whole thing
With the Kuzmenko picture, you guys were like, oh, the picture is stupid.
And you only got one and a half tires.
So this time, what are we giving for the tires on Colton Pareko?
There's zero blue or logo or anything.
It doesn't even say Mazda on it.
There's no St. Louis arch on it.
There's no, yeah, Mazda logo.
What?
Does he even have Apple CarPlay?
One.
One tire?
One.
you're giving one tire oh i didn't take a selfie with it dare you adam what are you giving it uh
i think okay fine if if if the caption the caption kind of stinks uh you gotta have the
apostrophe so i'm gonna dock you half a mark i'll still give you four and a half because it's
awesome and you know what we could expand this jesse i love the car watch but we could expand
this just nhl influencer watch no no cars yeah narrow the focus all right all right
yeah all right then you're just we're just looking at nhl players instagrams all day
but what you guys don't do that
anyway you know who had the best instagram at his peak uh pk suban when he when we'd see him
training and we'd see all the fast legs you know when that stopped when when somebody put out that
video of pk suban parodying that the chop chop chop that stopped immediately like he used to do
that every like i'm on the ice i'm on the ice right now and then as soon as that happened it
was like that was over and i don't remember who it was but uh the player was miked up i want to
say it was someone on the bruins and they're like post another training video you fucking loser oh
what oh yeah that's what i'm talking about it was a thing when pk was like playing and like
posting on straight it was a thing yeah see you do it all the time i always found him for that
oh i think it was uh trent frederick i think oh no way that's a good show
i think i'm not totally sure yeah that's a good chirp i like that one day a good video for you
would be uh top 10 chirps of all time oh damn you got me i'll stop your head i mean patrick
ring in his ears oh yeah pretty crazy that's got a number one yeah who said you're just bad at
hockey uh drew dowdy to patrick maroon and then maroon went on to go to like 40 straight stanley
yeah i want to know um i want to know uh um what was the crosby to caudry oh man oh shit i can't
remember he put him away he did he did it was good i didn't think crosby was a big chirper and
then he just this cadre thing was pretty devastating oh shit um brad richards to
oh my god tom sestito he goes this is fantasy camp for you oh because sestito had just been
called up and he's yelling at the bench i'll fucking knock every fucking one of you out i
remember brad richards just goes this is fantasy camp didn't uh didn't uh matthews look at um who
was whose jersey did he look at and go who are you oh shit oh and he was a leaf too he became
was it it wasn't sestito but it was was it a sen yeah it was a sense yeah and the next year he's
at leaf's training camp that's so bad that i forget his name that was a no but every player
does that that would make the list yeah it was pretty no it's a common no that was nothing i
have never seen another player do that really i don't know never that's a first that was a first
that's why it took off it went viral that's a good one i gotta think of some more i gotta think
so no it's a good question i feel like it's a fun list you know what i would love to know i want to
talk to one of the 80s guys and then one of the 90s guys and go i don't want to know what was
said because it was probably really inappropriate and oh my god you would get you canceled but who
had who had the biggest mouth in the 80s and who had the biggest mouth in the 90s interesting you
know because there'd be some i think there's to be some good ones you know who'd be fun to ask
a question like that uh kiprios oh i feel like you would have some like grade a stories about
chirps and he's a great storyteller yeah he'd probably be like and then this and we'd be like
really wow like yeah he tells a story wow tell me more the one storyteller the ones you never
hear on mic'd up or like the chirps that are like heard you're going through a rough divorce
they do that all the time yeah there's a lot of stuff we can't say alex burrows alex burrows took
a lot of guys to hell yeah yeah we won't go there but yes uh the crosby cadre thing this is from a
toronto sun article way back when in 2013 crosby ticked about an apparent elbow by cadre is shown
exchanging an on ice verbal jabs with leafs captain dion funoff in a clip for the second
hbo documentary 24 7 which aired in canada sunday cadre's a bleeping joke crosby tells funoff as the
cameras zoom in as for his take on crosby's comment on sunday cadre seemed amused by it all i think i
got inside his kitchen a little bit but that's part of my game he's the best player in the world
you've got to be hard on him i expect everyone to do that not just myself i think he lost a little
respect for me but what are you gonna do i don't hate the guy or nothing i just play hard and he
plays hard against me it is what it is okay i thought maybe i thought it was worse than it was
it must no no it seems pretty that's pretty weird wait no i like the quote underneath it um friggin
they actually wanted to mic me up for that game and i said no thank god i did because i was a
mouthpiece I miss Naz
Naz rules yeah okay so
anyway well I guess we'll
wrap it up there it was a

Do you wish you could just hit skip on the worst parts of your life?
You know, the same way you can skip an ad.
I get it.
I'm Siaya and I live in Ice Cove.
I've made some questionable decisions that didn't end up the way I planned.
And today, I'm still figuring it out.
Somehow, things usually get worse before they get better.
Apparently, that's how I roll.
So bundle up and come along for the bumpy ride.
Don't miss the new season of North of North starting September 8th on CBC Gem.
