Sometimes life throws your curveballs and you don't have time to get to them and that's where
TaskRabbit comes in and I think you should check this out because here's the deal.
One of the things, one of the weird quirks about my condo building is that they use my floor
to repel down and clean all the windows but they never clean my windows.
And their way around on that is like, well, it's a patio window, you can do that yourself.
And I'm like, well, hang on a second.
What if I don't want to?
I don't have the stuff because you got to have that scraper thing and the washer thing.
The chemicals, you got to have the right chemicals.
see what i'm saying that's why i used task rabbit and i employed a tasker here's the thing task
rabbit connects you with taskers in your area for furniture assembly home repairs lawn maintenance

Dangle. Hey, we've all been
to the Mansion Kingston. Actually, the three
of us have because it's one of the best bars in
Kingston. Also... The best.
Let's be honest. Also... Well, listen, I didn't
want to... I'm trying to be Canadian about it.
I didn't want to be... No, all those other bars
are trash. This one's the best.
I mean, fair.
They have rats.
All other bars have rats.
We cannot back up that claim,
but we can tell you
is the Drew and Stu show
will be there
Sunday, January 11th.
Show starts at 2 o'clock
for Wild Card Weekend
in the NFL,
which is going to be incredible.
26 taps pouring local craft beer
as well as national
and imported favorites.
And Pabst Blue Ribbon
is not only sponsoring the event,
but they are giving away prizes
like T-shirts, fanny packs,
and visors,
three floors,
multiple TVs,
and yes,
It is a classic Kingston mansion.
It's a must attend event because Cam Stewart live is just,
you don't know what you're going to get and it's going to be recorded.
We'll post it afterwards.
Who knows what's going to actually make the recording and who knows is
what's only going to be said live.
And then we can't repeat that ever again.
Yes.
Yeah.
It's Cam.
Hi everyone.
Welcome to the mansion.
You know,
Drew,
I was thinking on the way in here.
Anyway, guys, that was our show at the mansion.
Hope you enjoyed it.
It might all be redacted.
Who knows?
So go see it live.
Tickets are $15.

Dangle, you're thicker than I thought.
The Steve Dangle Podcast.
With your hosts, Steve Dangle, Adam Wilde, and Jesse Blake.
let's go all right predictions episode it is new no it's january 2nd
january december 31st it's december 31st uh okay well that's fine hey um i hope you guys
hope you guys are having a great holiday so far i hope your new year's has gone great i hope team
canada has done well at the world juniors yes jesse is new year's amateur hour as so yeah cj
called it what's the context for people that did not hear that clip uh i don't know okay so because
new year's i i actually have found i thought my 20s new year's was completely overrated because
you'd have to pay like like now it's like 50 bucks cover but it used to be like 20 uh and uh and and
like you'd go out and be like oh this is such a drag like whatever uh now uh a good old-fashioned
family house party a kitchen kaylee as they used to call it in nova scotia that is that is where
the party at and i'm i'm down for that that's what i like that there was uh uh well there's a
well-established scarborough establishment called the stone cottage yeah kingston row baby except
one night uh and i gotta give them their kudos because they did carry granville island winter
ale which is a crazy pull for an ontario bar it's a delicious freaking beer it tastes like chocolate
i love it um but one night it was chilly i had to wait outside for hours to pay cover to get in
okay and i never got in you never got in and i vowed to never wait to get into anywhere ever
again wow and i never have good for you i never have all right this is toronto there's too many
places jesse oh there's no room oh i suppose fuck you then that's how i've always looked at it uh
i'm gonna play the part of the chris johnston show where he talks about new year's being amateur
hour because it was released at the time in the morning of when we're recording so i haven't heard
it yet so i'm curious to see chris's thoughts on this if you want to just give me one second to
play it here for you fellas so we can all enjoy chris's hot take here on whether or not new year's
amateur hour or not are you a big new year's eve guy by the way i mean with the roster announcement
coming that's something to look forward to on december 31st it's amateur night i do not uh
i do not need an occasion to
to pop champagne did you say did you say that yeah did i hear that wrong you didn't know you
heard it right i i've always thought new year's eve is amateur night i feel like it's like the
night people give them permission to like go have a party i'm like to me i'm not saying go party
every night but i don't need uh you don't need to put a date on the calendar like if you give
me the right people or the right circumstances i could i could do that on a tuesday it doesn't
need to be a december 31st i will tell you well i love that answer and as someone who has had
a beverage or a few with you i understand where you're coming from exactly put it this way no
No plans this year.
I will be at home that night,
but I'm doing a little getaway December 29th and 30th.
So like maybe I'll celebrate more on the 29th and 30th and the 31st.
I'll just be all buttoned down in bed at nine 30.
I have to tell you,
if you get the chance to go for beers with CJ ever in your life,
do it.
He's one of the best go for beers and have a good conversation guy.
That and those guys are hard.
It's harder to find than you think.
CJ is a good beer at a chat guy.
Thoughts on the take.
i think he's right i think he's ultimately right like especially going out again i told you stay
home party with your friends and family going out on new year's eve to me was always a bust
it's always kind of a fart no super overrated yeah always been overrated yeah no give me a
good basement party any oh all any night when are you going to start throwing basement parties again
uh you said you used to have bangers man when's isla 18
i need a steve dangle house party uh all right 2040 2040 okay yeah let's go with yeah i like
that i might be wrong okay yeah all right now this is the all predictions episode steve and
jess 2042 uh and i'm gonna just start throwing categories out there and we're gonna discuss
okay we're not gonna be able to get to everything but jesse compiled an incredible list and we're
going to start with standings because standings are the hardest one uh remember last year at this
time the minnesota wild were amongst the top teams in the league they still are but cabrillo caprizov
went down in late december early january and they fell off a cliff barely made the playoffs
right a lot can change a lot can happen and what's interesting about this year like last year they
talked about compressed schedule this year is a compressed ass schedule we're basically missing
20 of the 28 days in February, okay?
Because they stopped playing on the 5th
and I think they come back on the 26th or 27th.
It's like, it ain't much.
The Leafs, I believe,
don't have a home game the entire month.
Right.
So, let's start with the Pacific Division, okay?
So, who finishes first?
That's all I'm going to ask you.
I'm not going to ask you who's going to finish second.
I'm going to ask you who finishes first
in the Pacific Division.
teams like the Knights the Ducks the Oilers the Kings the Sharks the Kraken the Flames and the
Canucks my vote goes to the Vegas Golden Knights they are currently in first place as we're
recording this but I look at the Golden Knights and I say they haven't been playing that great
of hockey they've been kind of like okay they've been winning a lot of games but it hasn't looked
the prettiest and somehow they still found a way to grind out those games and get a whole bunch of
non-regulation points to add up to their to their record there and they're in first place playing
not great and i think they're only gonna get better as the season goes along and like carter
hart's play has been decent as of late missed a bunch of time for a sexual assault case and
there's a lot of debate whether he should be back in the league or not but he's been a help for them
and mitch marner hasn't been getting going too much of his uh his level that it was at last year
So I only expect that to get better as the season goes along.
I think they are not even at their peak and they are currently in first place.
Can I give you a completely insane Vegas stat?
There's only three teams on the day that we're recording this in the league with 16 wins.
They are the New York Rangers, who are in 21st, the Edmonton Oilers, who are in 16th,
and the Vegas Golden Knights, who are fifth.
They are 16 and 16.
As of this recording.
16 wins, 16 losses, but 10 of them were in overtime,
which is the equivalent of five wins.
Is that your pick as well?
That is the logical pick,
but to be different and interesting,
I'm going to go ahead and...
No, pick who you want.
Well, okay, I'll go with these guys
because i think the ball has started rolling downhill and at the time we're recording this
both of last year's stanley cup finalists are getting going they're climbing and uh i'm gonna
go with the edmonton oilers i saw them uh murder um the leafs the other night they are six three
and one in their last 10 they still have a negative goal differential they still have a
losing record on the road um all things that i think are going to figure themselves out as mcdavid
and Drysaddle starts to tear the league apart.
I wouldn't be myself if I didn't pick the team
that I've been riding for.
You are hilarious.
You gotta do it.
And to be honest with you,
as of this recording,
the Anaheim Ducks have three more wins
than anybody else in their division.
Second in wins in the division,
believe it or not, are the Sharks.
Third are the Oilers and Vegas Golden Knights
tied at 16,
but the Anaheim Ducks were the first team to 20.
And what the Anaheim Ducks
are going to have to learn to do,
because this is a young team
with a couple of great veterans,
You know, you've got, you know, Truba and Kreider and that sort of thing.
They're going to have to learn to push games to overtime.
Great teams, because of the Bettman point in overtime, the loser point, push teams to
overtime, even if you end up losing the game, because it still gets you the point.
And I think one of the things that I'm really looking out for is the fact that the Ducks
have more home games in the back half of the season than they did to start.
And their home record as of this recording is 11 and four.
They're going to have to improve the away record,
but 11-4 at home is sterling.
They're awesome, and they're fun.
Their goal differential is also the best in the division.
I do think there's a lot of reasons to believe
that this could be one of those teams that goes,
the rest of the regular season,
and maybe they flame out in the first round of the playoffs.
Plenty of young teams do that.
If they're playing Vegas or Edmonton in the first round,
I'm picking Vegas or Edmonton.
but I do feel like this is a young team.
The vibes are great.
I'm going to give it to the Anaheim Ducks.
What the hell?
Why not?
Okay.
Now going to the central division in the West,
teams like Avalanche, Stars, Wild, Mammoth, Blues, Jets,
Blackhawks, and Predators.
I mean, listen, Minnesota could catch them.
Dallas could catch them.
I don't think anyone's going to catch them.
The Colorado Avalanche, they are the best team in the league.
They are 24-2-7.
they might not end the season with more regulation losses than overtime.
They might not have 10.
Are they, by the way,
are they not within striking distance of Boston's record?
Probably.
It's real.
Too many games to go.
Too many games to go.
Real, real early.
Like they're 7-1-2 in their last 10,
and that doesn't feel hot enough.
Their point percentage is 833.
Their goal differential is plus 56.
They're going to win.
yep yep surely yep it's uh it's interesting very very interesting the mark is 65 wins 12 losses
5 ot losses 135 points for the boston bruins in the 22 23 season that's what they're chasing
i think we're still a little ways off from making that a reality okay all right 55 though it's a lot
in 33 yeah it's a lot i i am gonna go with the colorado avalanche but one team i do want to keep
an eye on the jets right now six places of this recording hellebuck is back they started extremely
well with him i do think that they're gonna climb and make a charge at it it's just it seems like
there's such a huge difference between them and even the dallas stars right now that's freaking
they're 23 points back i know it's crazy that's how great the abs are though i i do think the
Jets are going to turn it back on again.
I do.
It would be foolish to not pick the Avalanche
to win the Central at this point.
I will also just side with the Fs.
All right.
Metropolitan, Hurricanes, Islanders, Flyers, Capitals,
Devils, Penguins, Rangers, and Jackets
in that order currently.
The Carolina Hurricanes and New York.
Who would have thought Hurricanes, Islanders, Flyers
as your top three teams as of this recording?
That thing's going to swap so many times.
They're all within one point.
And the Caps too.
yeah so as of like when you're hearing this that it'll flip a million ways so i'm not too concerned
with the rest of the division below the carolina hurricanes who are going to win this division in
my eyes i think that's the best team in the division they're the most consistent regular
season team we have in the league every year year in year out they're up there in the in the metro
so i think they take it here again this season they're automatic right last season it was the
caps who got the president's trophy and they ran away with the division but like the canes are
always hanging in there this year i think with the caps falling off a little even though they're
kind of right there i think the canes just take it it feels disrespectful to go with anybody else
the capitals by the way lead the metro in regulation wins okay with 17 carolina has 14
but regulation and overtime wins it's 18 to 18 um and in terms of points the hurricanes have six
more like yeah could any of those teams catch them maybe but i'm gonna bet against it i am going
capitals i i think that i think that the olympic break will be good for the capitals because not
a lot of them are going to be on that team which is strange right uh or any of the teams now i know
you know alexander ovechkin would be playing for tim team russia but imagine ovi with uh two weeks
in the sunshine uh having as many subway subs and uh cheetos cheetos before before every game
buddy the the caps are going to come on strong the only question is how much time does logan
thompson play at the olympics right right that will be the key but i do think uh the washington
capitals are ultimately going to take this division because uh carolina are perennially
number two in the division uh in the atlantic as of this recorded the detroit red wings are number
one boston two lightning three panthers four canadians five leaf six senator seven and sabers
eight can i point out the red wings lead the atlantic with a negative seven gold of her
hilarious and like i said i don't think we should be too concerned with what the numbers look like
right now no people are there's a week worth of games by the time we're talking about this and
by the time you're hearing this so i think we can just go based on how these teams are going to
perform in this second half and i think the florida panthers are primed to take this division
it's either them or the lightning i'm flip-flopping between the two but i'm going to side with the
ones that they're stanley cup champions and they've been perennial we don't really care about
the regular season teams but i think as the season goes along this is a team that's only going to get
healthier you know they had dealt with their injuries early on and i think they've gotten
lucky this season where they're going to get healthier as the season goes along and they're
going to have a good back half so i'm going to bet on the panthers they're going to ramp up
and they are ramping up and i called this a week ago and you were like steven go to therapy and
here they are rocketing up the standings i'm going to go with florida i'm going to say not
florida and the reason is uh they're a lot of their injured guys are coming back to play on
the olympic teams and we'll see what they look like we don't know what they're going to look
like right uh now another team that's faced a ton of injuries but has done well despite it are the
tampa bay lightning that's a team where i look at and i go man andre vasilevsky could sure use a
month off and he's gonna be nice and fresh come march yep and i think the tampa bay lightning
who've been spectacular this year despite all the injuries headman vasilevsky i think hagel's been
out i think points points been underperforming and probably hand out and out both um i i think
that this that's a team that is the best coach team in the league to me it's going to be the
tampa yeah i wanted to go with the lightning but i think i i just i give the edge the panthers but
i think you're really smart in pointing out vassi's month off and kucherov's month off yeah
that's i think that's oh yeah those are two the two most important guys on this team both of them
get a month to chill that's that's going to be really good scary and maybe like the secret sauce
and all of this is just point out the russians around the league yeah what if that's just the
way we should be looking at this thing who's not going to the olympics because of geopolitical
situation right and are they going to have great second halves sometimes life throws your curve
balls and you don't have time to get to them and that's where task rabbit comes in and i think you
should check this out because here's the deal one of the things one of the weird quirks about my

Moving on to the Art Ross, gentlemen.
Only one, speaking of Jesse, only one Russian in the top 10,
and that would be Nikita Kucherov in terms of scoring.
We've got, as of this recording, three guys over 50 points,
but Leon Dreisaitl is a game or two away, as is Marty Nietzsche.
Conor Bedard may fall out of this because he got hurt
and probably isn't going to play until early January
with that shoulder injury.
But who do we think wins the Art Ross this year?
Remember, as of this recording,
Conor McDavid has 20 points in his previous seven games.
Conor McDavid, what are we doing here?
Like, what are we doing here?
It looked like such a runaway for Nathan McKinnon
because it wasn't obvious that McDavid was going to get it back.
And I think that's because humans are stupid creatures
and I'm very human in that way.
um mcdavid is going to get 140 points jeez you think so he's at 56 and 34 right now jesse do
you think that nathan mckinnon can hold off connor mcdavid because a lot of the abs offense goes
through him in the car yeah no no no connor mcdavid's winning the art ross trophy he's got
he had that little streak where from 20 to 23 won three consecutive in the last couple years
kucherov's been the guy at the ross trophy so if kucherov's not having his 144 point season
that he had a couple years ago then my money's always on connor mcdavid completely psychotic
stat connor mcdavid has a zero plus minus rating mckinnon is 43 wow wow i'll go with connor mcdavid
as well just because he's done it and he does it and that's what he does however when it comes to
the art ross not the r excuse me the rocket richard uh as of this recording mckinnon is
eight up on the next closest uh who is it uh sorry not eight up four up that's morgan geeky
oh um mcdavid i was gonna say he's eight up on mcdavid's got 20 he's taught he's top four
so who wins the art ross is the rich sorry the art ross the rocket richard is there any chance
guys that morgan geeky takes this from nathan mckinnon he's only four goals back no no his
shooting percentage is like trending on towards 30 it's ridiculous to try and expect him to keep
that pace i think mckinnon this year does the thing he's never done in his career and that's
win a rock of a shark trophy i think he puts up probably 60 goals like i think we could see 60
goals he's now mckinnon it'll be i think it's gonna be a lot of fun that's that's my pick
i just wanted to point out the plus minus thing mckinnon's plus 43 next closest guy is 32 oh
that's his teammate martin niches next closest guy is plus 31 oh that's his teammate kale mccarr
next closest guy is 30 oh that's his teammate arturi leckanen you have to go down to plus 23
jacob chikrin for the closest non-av six of the seven top plus minuses in the league
our avalanche okay now to add on to that because i brought up his name morgan geeky if you're saying
that nathan mckinnon will hit you you know you want him to hit 60 right and he's hitting he's
shooting about 17 18 which is roughly what a superstar should be sure right um geeky's up
around 30 uh do you think he can ride this heater for the rest of the year because he's been riding
a heater coming off of last season right he did over 30 goals last year too can he ride this heater
the entire year and get over 50 goals mckinnon is playing nearly five minutes more per game
than geeky like uh mckinnon is going to get so many more opportunities i'm not asking about
mckinnon i'm asking about can geeky get over 50 oh can geeky get 50 sorry i thought it was the
the rocket uh can he get uh yeah like he could cool down and still get 50 as if this recording
is about halfway there yeah he's almost exactly halfway there and that we're not halfway through
the season like he could cool down and still hit 50 so i'm i say he does it okay jesse do you think
he can i'm also on yes that morgan geeky's gonna hit 50 goals this season because we've seen
surprise 50 goal seasons before you go back to the 22 season it's the chris crider 52 goal season
chris crider is a good goal scorer but 50 goals a lot a lot for chris crider and that season
he shot 20 and that's how he did it even the zach hyman 50 goal season from a couple years ago
that's really out of nowhere that was a surprise yeah that's a surprise for zach hyman and that's
a 50 goal season we see outliers like this every now and again and maybe morgan he's just this
player now i think he does it this is chichu-esque um it is and and i don't know that's not to take
away from chichu he never got 50 goals again but he was a good goal scorer i lived it in real time
no one believed it it's true and doesn't morgan geeky feel the same right oh yeah all right now
here's a fun william carlson's 43 goal season i think that'll add to the list of surprise giant
goal seasons so i i gotta i gotta pull this up all right so kraken.com slash stats morgan geeky
former seattle kraken as i told you a couple weeks ago as of this recording morgan geeky has more
goals than anybody on the kraken have points eberly has 20 points does morgan geeky finish
with more goals than everybody on the kraken points no with the defensive style that the
kraken play well or that try kraken have lost nine of the last 10 at the time we are i think the i
think the kraken have a 50 point getter so i'm gonna bank on the kraken have somebody on their
team score 50 points last season they had two eberly and who nope uh jared mccann had 61
chandler stevenson had 51 and mccann has been on the ir most of the season mccann has been
injured and chandler stevenson is scoring at like a little over half a point a game
uh oh boy oh shoot they're in trouble yes they are in trouble they are in trouble they are i
didn't realize how in trouble they were they do have a lot of guys in double digit like it is a
little bit more um by committee but yeah they're in trouble okay all right uh all right no let's
what do you think me personally i think i'm here for the fun i think that the the kraken season
has started about as bad as it can and we see nhl teams turn it around all the time
but i think the kraken are going to be they're going to be a march darling they're going to
have a month off they're you know and and we always get fooled by that i'm thinking about
vancouver no we call that sabers hockey sabers hockey sabers always kill in march vancouver
few years ago best record in april every year yeah the early lfr leafs went on a heater every
march right because there's no one cared his bad teams do yeah right so i'm thinking that um the
kraken come back after the the break they get a break from each other they get a break from lane
Lambert who who knows if how that relationship is going and they uh they come back and they play
great but I think the storyline for me is going to be geeky and I want it to happen so I think
geeky is going to score more goals than the next closest in points for the Seattle Kraken this year
that's what I think and I can't wait for that to be a story that has to be a story Steve points
out those numbers from last year where you only have the two players who crossed that 50 point
mark yes threshold and yeah and one of them barely did it and stevenson it's it's interesting
like eberly it's gonna be close if we assume the number is 50 like eberly is on pace to do it
vince dunn is on pace to do it and chandler stevenson would be and so is maddie benears
and that's about it what about mckinnon maybe what mckinnon goals versus kraken's top point
getter oh i was like mckinnon is just gonna straight up have more goals oh no no i was
asking a question oh um mckinnon's goals versus the kraken's top point getter what like he might
score 60 plus what are you what's your pick i say he doesn't me too it's funny it's funny if he does
i'm sorry kraken you gotta sort of cheer for it like just for the stat that's a crazy all right
Here's one.
Here's an idea.
All right?
All right?
Connor McDavid keeps scoring like this,
and you know that Connor's going to score a lot of goals,
but he's so much of a playmaker, right?
He really is.
Will Connor McDavid have more than double the assists
of the highest Seattle Kraken point getter?
Double.
Oh, just assists?
So if a Kraken player gets 50 points,
McDavid would have to have 100 assists.
so so so let me let me do this has mcdavid missed games this season i don't actually know i don't
think so um so he has 36 assists right now and the oilers need to pick it up right and they they
can't just laze their way through january march and april connor mcdavid is on pace for 87
how many times in his career has he got more than 100 assists the one time because that's that's
like one of the biggest records they got it would have been two remember the year kucherov and
mcdavid did it in the same year yeah it was a big deal remember we were counting down to that
yes and they both finished 100 flat yeah because uh well the only people who have ever done it are
wayne gretzky and bobby orr that's crazy i'm gonna bank on them not doing that this season
mckinnon's actually i believe on pace to crack the hundred mark but i think he's all bet on him
falling just short like imagine he wins the the the rocket and also gets over 100 assists that's
stupid you know that's oh my god what's he on pace for mckinnon uh fewer assists than mcdavid
oh okay so then yeah scratch that yeah still still about like 75 i'm gonna say i think the
answer is no adam i think i think mcdavid does it i think he does it again i think 100 assists i
think he does 100 assists and i think he gets double the assist that the next closest kraken
in point he's on pace for 87 after a slow like first that's what i'm saying you're being mean
that's what i'm saying he's gonna come back from the olympics on fire i am telling you the one
thing you're leaving out is the kraken are losing nearly every game and that's just not going to
continue well even if they finish last it's not going to continue you know we've said that about
the blackhawks last year i think jesse had to make in the playoffs and what happened
sometimes you're just fucking bad no the worst team in the league is not yeah this isn't a knock
on like mcdavid not doing it it's that you think the cracker are gonna be so inept that he can do
i think i've seen that they are i think i've i think i've had proof thus far it's 30 games they
can't score we'll see all right what's next uh all right let's do a leafs one okay okay
this is a part one and a part two cup okay does austin matthews score 45 goals this season
brother he has 14 in 30 games so 40 so 30 plus 30 plus 20 that'd be 14 and 27 it's actually not bad
i'm gonna say no he's he's roughly on pace for it just slightly off pace for it but he's already
missed game yes so there's games tacked off that i'm gonna say no i don't like he doesn't have it
okay he's missing the little zhuzh on top that superstars have austin matthews hasn't displayed
that this any chance he grabs it at the olympics like binnington grabbed it at four nations and
turned it on and brought the blues and that like motivates him to get back to what we think he is
binnington grabbed him at the four nations in overtime twice yep but like i haven't based on
the evidence presented in front of my face watching austin matthews play hockey he's like a 40
245 goal score this season probably like 42 ish okay here's my my next question you say no that's
mark shifley but cost double does that's how he's been playing does austin matthews hit 45 goals
ever again yes i'll bank on that he does it okay his career yeah all right i bet on sports science
it might be like we're probably write him off he'll go somewhere else he'll be a bruin oh no
stop it steve i believe the next question there is what's austin matthews's next team
ah man i'd say um if if austin was going anywhere i think i'd say los angeles
yep he's a king i think he's a i think a west coast boy i think he wants to be back in the
heat if that ever happened and i think uh los angeles makes a ton of sense four goals a game
against the Leafs yeah I 100% four goals what about the he's not leaving the Leafs by the way
expansion coyotes I could see that towards the end of his career if they're if they're
new billionaire it gets I could see that be very concerning that there's been all this expansion
talk all this Atlanta talk all this Houston all this all this not a peep about Arizona
yeah not a peep i think they're trying to get matt ishbia on there i think they're trying to
get the son's owner to get it he fucked up damn that's a crazy name of a person you know what
they need a building well he has the building they could do the conversion it well he's in
like court for shit yeah i know but i you know billionaires they always get out of court that's
valid that is valid all right all right uh okay jesse that's an awfully nice vest you're wearing

Here's a fun one.
I'm going to jump around here
because I like jumping around.
Jump around.
First coach.
First coach to get fired.
that's a good one man it's crazy there hasn't been one not not one now you got to think to
fire a coach because most coaches come in on at least two or three year deals that a team is not
going to want to pay out a first year guy like i look at a guy like lane lambert i'm going well
shit's not going well but that's too early to give up on him right you look towards when you're
looking at coaches being let go you're looking at the standings and going not who's last but
who's disappointing i don't have to look at the fucking standings i have history in my brain
of this coach being ass and i've wanted him to go because he's not good at managing a game as a
head coach in national hockey give it to us jesse jim hiller wow the los angeles kings damn is really
good at losing in the first round and blown games they should have easily beat the edmonton i
shouldn't say easily they should have had that series last year against the oilers they were up
they could have ragged the puck for 40 minutes or however long it was left in that game five
minutes however it was and i put that loss on jim hiller's shoulders if he was a better head coach
they might have won that series against edmonton i he hasn't been impressive to me there's already
rumors there's that fake rumor about him already being fired which was very untrue but i can see
it happening towards the end of the season if they are disappointing but i can see it a hundred
percent happening if they bow out in the playoffs again i could also see like this league going
through the regular season no coach being fired up until somebody losing the playoffs because
that's happened what that happened two years ago it's not happening this year it happened like two
years ago yep yeah i could see that happening again and jim hiller being the first one out
that's my pick um i'm gonna say that the oilers do that to freaking everyone not named florida
so i give them a bit of a pass oh man they couldn't hold on to a lead against
the oilers no no hiller um responsible i'm gonna go ahead and say lindy ruff that's a good pick
lindy ruff's getting fired yarmo is is he the first one though that's the question yeah it's
not does he get fired it's is he the first yeah uh yarmo just got there uh he didn't really give
lindy a vote of confidence he gone he gone although a good pick might be the guy that i
think you might be going with uh who do you think i'm going with i think you're going with the guy
who has absolutely no respect of any of his players they do not listen to him and they do
not give a shit i mean guess about anything he does to motivate them no i'm kidding uh
craig berube uh that's not who i'm picking uh but i will ask a question about berube coming up
i think an underrated storyline this year has been the play of the ottawa senators
and you can blame it on lenis allmark being a bit of a fringe dude you can blame it on brady
kachuk being out uh but brady kachuk's been back and as of this recording has been high
sticked in the face five games in a row poor guy yeah i think travis green has not been the coach
that i think that they wanted him to be and i'm not sure travis green's a guy for me that is a
three to four years max kind of guy because he's a barker he's that is most coaches yeah but like
he's he's one of those where it's like you're we're firing you because your personality is
annoying after a while damn like course i think travis green is low-key on the hot hot seat right
now because that team should be better so as of this recording i'm gonna i'm gonna offer a
counterpoint to that he's a great example of a coach who i think is getting screwed by goaltending
and the team yeah and you know what a lot of excuses made for him in vancouver same thing
damn that's that's valid but right now i'm looking all mark is an 879 maryland is an 877
it's miraculous they're anywhere near the playoff picture miraculous but you're right he could get
canned uh i like travis green i think he's a good head coach he wouldn't be the first head coach to
get fired and then
immediately their goalie
remembers how to play
hockey isn't that funny
how that works circuit
Bobrovsky did it all
right now Jesse and
Steve Steve mentioned
Craig Berube because he
was trying to steal my
answer even though it
wasn't my answer does
the only question is
does Craig Berube get
fired yeah eventually
every coach gets fired
well no no but I mean
before the end of the
season so I'm talking
before the fucking
playoffs make it make
the cutoff July 1st
yeah I think that's a
good one slam dunk oh my god explain soliloquy for us mr mcbeth on it actually he says let's go
boys and then they never go you know imagine uh what was that guy's name who did the dog whisperer
show oh caesar milan caesar milan imagine if that show was just him ow
imagine if that show oh jesse really got me imagine if that show was just him getting bit
yeah right yeah like every episode is just him getting he can't control the dog and it's him
going i don't know what to do yeah well i don't understand in 2019 i told this dog to listen and
it did all right well that was like seven years ago and i've just been watching you get mauled
for seven years like i i don't know man i don't know if you're that good at getting
people to do or dogs to do that thing that you want them to do how many more times do i need
to see him say let's fucking go and them not let's fucking go this is a ridiculous comparison
no i like it i like it no i like my rewrite of uh the dog whisperer where he's just super dave
and just getting mauled every episode.
Jesse, do you think Craig Berube gets fired before July 1st?
I don't.
Why don't you?
You're the one who talks to him every day.
I don't talk to him every day.
Yeah, you guys are buddies.
You guys cuddle up.
Sometimes he's a big spoon.
Sometimes you are.
Extreme exaggeration.
I think Craig Berube at the end of this season,
Maple Leafs management, Brad Treliffing and co up there,
would look at this season as a you get a pass here why why do you get a pass things didn't go
our way this is this hypothetical if they don't make the playoffs obviously if they make the
playoffs and they do anything he's going to be have a job but i don't think the roster is good
enough and i don't think that they've had the injury luck to justify firing him if he doesn't
have the horses to get a good team out of the the guys who are there that's not on him okay he can't
motivate a collection of players who aren't good enough when he's gonna run out henry thron and no
offense to him and dakota murmurs is of the world every single night you can't expect him to get a
bunch of wins out of this team i also don't think the forward group that even the healthy guys who
are there we look at the forward group and like yeah this team's gonna do some damage so
i don't put the blame entirely on craig berube if this season goes sideways so i don't think
the management should as well i think he would get at least one more season and one more crack
at this at this collection of players that bradshaw living put together i think it's more
likely true living would be fired than berube to be clear i think it wouldn't kill the guys
the pair of men who make like 25 million dollars combined per year to listen to their coach but
they don't want to um all right all right adam has not weighed in uh 25 25 million yes i think
i i think he's an awkward fit for this group okay i don't think he's a bad coach though i think he'll
go on and find success elsewhere um my question though and this is what i actually don't have a
read on i have i'm i'm 50 50 on this does bradshaw living survive till july 1st if reports are to be
believed the relationship between
Pelley and Berube is quite strong.
And so you would have to think
that Pelley would be difficult. It would
be difficult for Pelley. No, you want it to be strong. You just don't want
it to be stronger than it is for
Trelew. No, that's why you have a GM.
If I were putting money
on whether Bradshaw Living would have a job with the Leafs
by July 1st, my money would be
on no, just because of
how sideways I think the season could go
and this team missing it. And the
Keith Pelley part of it is important because
that's a guy who's coming to this organization
and inherited Bradshaw living and one thing we know about people who get new jobs they like to
bring in their own people yes and Pelley has a free square there he might want to keep his free
square if things keep going sideways we know they always do that you keep the coach around a little
bit longer so that you fire him and then it's not on you finally right you know so he might do that
where he keeps Bradshaw living so then he always has the ability to fire him if things don't go
his way but I can see Keith Pelley being the guy who's like I know I'm secure in this Rogers role
i need to bring in my own person my own handpicked gm for this leaf team so i think it's likely that
true living would get fired here in this situation uh i could see a situation where the leafs if they
have a bad december and january uh trilling doesn't make it to the trade deadline i think
tough it is tough it is tough yeah well they're gonna have some serious meetings so it wouldn't
even be the first gm no i think that they're here's here's where i think it happens okay
the blues as of this recording after losing to buffalo have a negative 36 goal differential
it's worse than the league the blues oh if the blues ownership goes okay doug it's time for uh
alex dean to take over because he's the guy that's they've already said he's the guy that
is taking over they're that weird press conference if armstrong becomes available earlier than we
thought and it was supposed to happen around 26 27 anyway right that's when this is supposed to
take place then i could absolutely seeing the leafs go you know what tree thanks so much we're
gonna go get doug armstrong and that might not make leaf fans very happy but at least doug
armstrong's won a cup in his career and i think that i think that that's the name to me that
makes the most sense because they're not going to bring in somebody young like dubas because
remember when they brought in dubas they didn't even make him a gm when they brought in dubas
they made Lou the GM so I think they're gonna go older I think they're gonna go star power
and I think they're gonna go Doug Armstrong and the question becomes does Doug Armstrong get here
before or after Craig Berube might be let go no and then they're gonna sign uh Tyler Bozak
and Jake Allen and Carl Gunnarsson and Robbie Fabry at least we'll trade and Vladimir Tarasenko
and Robert Thomas and this is 2019 blues because we know that's the correct way to build a
championship just hire the guys who did it years before and then failed uh in the meantime uh five
years later no bring him in i think that'd be such a ridiculous decision no i could see it happening
like i don't disagree with you adam that it would happen but i would i'm gonna criticize it at the
time when it happens okay he's tried to assemble the all second chance team in st louis and weirdly
they suck ass so i am not super stoked for the concept of uh doug armstrong and he's never been
on my show so i can say that the the other side of that is the saint louis blues despite only the
one cup have been one of the most successful franchises over the last 15 20 years that is
very true they are constantly in the playoffs so are the leafs constantly the bridesmaid never the
bride so are the Leafs but I do have to give you have to give credit where credit's due I know
there's recency bias here and that's fair yes but the St. Louis Blues were phenomenal for a long
time this is the guy that brought in Petrangelo and Pareko and Biddington who won them a cup
and you know traded for Ryan O'Reilly yes did bring in Tyler Bozak you know found value in
free agents found great draft picks I mean this is the guy that also drafted Tage Thompson
right all those things you mentioned were so long ago yeah i agree and this is the thing like and
what's the petrangelo thing happened it was all downhill and i'm looking at his recent track
record oof oof like there's the kevin hayes deal where he acquired kevin hayes there was supposed
to be a massive deal that got vetoed so it got out there and it got vetoed which just looks
unprofessional and chaotic he got cam fowler last year and it was awesome last year
he has been some random man this year yeah oh well cam fowler's on a bad team well guess what
now he's on a bad team again um like i'm i'm looking back it's a lot of small deals and they
stink okay all right they stink yeah like his recent resume is just a little house of horrors
i'm looking at boy nothing of any consequence and or a loss i would be curious about a guy like
eric tulsky uh because i know the leafs could pay him more and they could you know they they
they did just carolina did just sign him but you know contracts are broken things happen we'll see
ivan barbachev awesome player is now a golden knight is now a golden knight what'd they get
for him good question i don't know a 30th overall pick from 2021 named zach dean
um oh i was looking at his ahl stats from last year so last year in the ahl he had four points
in 11 games so he's had injuries yeah and this year he hasn't played so he's injured yeah okay
it's tough but like even before that he had 14 points in 49 ahl games okay and that's your return
for ivan barbershop like dude it hasn't been good okay fair enough you seem upset at the barbershop
deal what i'm trying to illustrate as clearly as i can is oh please not doug armstrong please for
the love of god not doug armstrong who is the next star player so we saw quinn hughes get traded
who is the next true superstar right i'm talking about a core piece to get moved jesse blake's got
his hand up go for it jess i'm gonna say this man because he's near and dear to my heart
oh i shouldn't say he's near and dear to a team that i watch sometimes the new york rangers and
artemi panarin yeah i think it is columbus go back uh i think that'd be funny it is something
to read into that this man currently does not have a contract with the new york rangers for
next season when every player who we thought would be in the huge 26 free agency class that
everybody's going to have a bunch of money for and it's going to be the Kevin Durant
year of the NHL has signed. All of those players have signed except for this one player,
because I think the New York Rangers are unsure if this is the direction they want to go with
their franchise to continue to build around him and Shusterkin and all of the big contracts they
got there and Adam Fox and everybody. If he's going to be a huge part of that going forward,
if you thought the Kirill Kaprizov negotiations were contentious the same owner or the same agent
is doing the Panarin deal they share the same agent Theofanos so if anybody's gonna make this
thing difficult it's Paul Theofanos is that how you say it Theofanos yeah yeah this thing isn't
gonna be pretty I could see him get moving get moved at the trade deadline I could see him get
moved before the july 1st deadline so that he could side eight years with the team that's
receiving him i could easily see him not being a ranger next season that's a really good point
jesse i think there will be a lot of moves unless i don't know what the deadline cutoff is for the
eight years thing but we may see a flurry of trades next september it's next september yeah
i believe this is the date oh september 15th well i gotta look it up if that's the case we could see
a lot of pre-agency trades this year
in a way that we've never seen before
for guys that want to sign eight-year deals.
Panarin's an interesting one.
For me, I think Panarin,
I'm like, Florida.
Yeah.
He's going to be a man.
He's going to be a man.
The eight-year thing is very fascinating
because to get the eight years,
you have to be re-signing
with your current team.
So there's two dates
for when you can do the eight-year thing.
The July 1st date,
if you're a pending free agent,
you need to get that trade done
before July 1st
because over the course of summer,
You would have become a free agent.
That's not a re-sign, so you can't do the eighth year.
And then the next date would be when the official seven-year new CBA kicks in, whenever that date is in September.
If you're on a current team with an expiring contract for the 27 offseason, you've got to get your re-signing deal in before that date.
Wow.
So we're going to have two pressure points, one over the course of summer for guys who are free agents in 27 looking to re-sign, and then one for the July 1st date where you become a free agent.
We could have a fun offseason that we didn't have last year.
Because last year, do you remember how boring it was?
Yeah.
Oh, it's terrible.
Yeah, it's terrible.
So we may have a fun pre-July 1st show.
Yeah.
Okay.
Okay, so that's my pick of Panera.
Steven?
You know, we rip on this team all the time,
and I'm surprised his name hasn't come up more.
Philip Forsberg.
That's an extremely...
UFA?
I don't know.
To me, it doesn't matter.
So you think Nashville commits to a rebuild?
they ought to Forsberg signed till 2030 yeah and I know at 8.5 million dollars and he has a no
movement clause and he is incredible and they're I I wouldn't be shocked at all if the Predators
were the one team in the league to treat a player without a no move clause like he has one and treat
a player who has one like he does not um that is a guy like we we keep mentioning all these other
guys like oh can you move a march or so what do you get uh stamp goes out what do you get you get
something for philip forrest you would and they would be wise if they were to commit to a rebuild
to get something for him okay that's an interesting pick that is an interesting yeah yeah that's the
out of left field um okay at a left wing all right all right you're ready yeah i got one
same team Roman Yossi Roman Yossi I think Roman Yossi gets moved and I think uh we haven't same
reasons right the same exact reasons and I think that there would be if he became available truly
available it would be a titanic shift in the NHL and you can only imagine what would be a part of
that deal uh Roman Yossi is a phenomenal defenseman but he's got to go to a team that can win right
now and you know i can feel it feels a little bit like ekholm to oilers a few years ago do you know
what i'm saying yep and ekholm's fallen off a little bit he's still a great player yosi changes
the way your team looks going into the hall of famer yeah like that man's a first ballot hall
of famer and i feel like it's going to be one of the young teams like let's say let's say something
crazy like uh a team like an anaheim or a san jose or whatever gets in and they are looking really
hot because they're starting to come on strong that they've got the assets to pay for it and
they've got the cap space to to take it Macklin for Yossi yeah there you go yeah for sure I think
Anaheim's a crazy choice um just because they have a lot of great young defensemen they do but they
they have the stay-at-home murder you guys like that just take yeah Gudis and Truba yeah to have
those guys on the same team is a little insane that they have uh the guys to completely take
that burden off him yep it'd be nice to see freewheeling offensive dynamo roman yosi one
more time two seasons ago he had 85 points 23 goals and i think the only reason his points
have fallen off because the team can't score they're not the personnel up front to to score
with man i'd love to see him on the leafs because maybe he'd pass to matthews he had 11 straight
seasons of well really 12 straight seasons of double digit goal scoring with an asterisk he
had eight goals but it was in 48 games in 2021 and last season he had nine goals but it was in 53
games whoa this guy give him a team for the love of god should the san jose sharks have done michael
misa for quinn hughes straight up like would that be enough plus if you want even if it is plus no
i i just i don't think that window works really no i don't think that window works quinn hughes
is 25 26 but you only have the the half year in the year yeah you have to be sure that he would
be resigning with you and he can't because he can't you've got a lot of guys to pay in san jose
but michael miso is one of them eventually yet he's not yeah but it'd be along the same lines
as when you'd have to pay hughes right yeah they're also san jose has so many talented
young guys they're gonna have to bridge some of them right so i just don't i don't think it's a
it no no adam would you have done it uh oh they need they need a guy they need like your your top
pairing guys are orlov and um uh uh john klingberg and they have really when they've drafted high in
the draft they've drafted forwards as you should at a certain point because you've got ecklund
you got will smith you got celebrini um ethan cardwell ethan ethan i don't think he's with
the organization anymore yeah he is yeah yes he got called up oh did he oh yeah he's on the shark
colin graff my guy colin graff uh but i feel like yeah you got at some point like the one thing that
i say the least really made a mistake in is they never got went out and got a stud defenseman and
i'm not saying they should have traded marner or neil andrew matthews for one but they could have
packaged, a JVR, an expiring
deal, Tyler
Bozak, maybe both. If you were
going to trade Nazem Khadri, why
didn't you go get a stud? I guess they thought
Tyson Berry might be, but
the best they were going to pull out of Calgary was, and
he was still good at the time, TJ Brody.
They never went and found
that A-plus guy, and it's hurt them, hurt
them, hurt them all the way. If you're the Sharks, you
need to be looking at doing that.
I agree. I just don't think
this was the one. Okay. Yossi,
like Adam said. Yossi. Was Yossi the one?
too old too probably not too old you need a 20 guy take it from this lease fan don't screw up
your rebuilds by uh buying too soon that's fair i love it next did we all say it did we all did
we all get ours in did you say one yeah he's a forsberg okay all right all right yeah all right
last one because we're running down if we're running out of time here okay um what was give
me your best and worst moments best and worst moment in the nhl 2025 oh all of 2025 calendar
year i'm gonna say four nations canada winning best what oh oh oh best got it got it i thought
you said worst i'm like you're on drugs his worst was sweden losing yeah i get i get picking that
one for uh best moment i don't think that needs any explanation easy yeah all in agreement yeah
now worst worst moments fascinating steve's gonna say uh the panthers lifting the cup
i'm gonna say every day george peros had money deposited in his bank account
um i have one give it brad getting traded to florida that was the brad marshand yeah
that was the thing that put this team over the top for three straight appearances and back-to-back
cups that man is something special in a locker room and he's something special on the ice in a
way that he's able to elevate his game to an unexpected performance in the playoff he became
a giant point getter which is not his go-to and as was never in boston and he plays so much bigger
than he is i've stood next to brad marchand a couple times he's not a big dude but when he's
on the ice he's a presence like he's seven foot tall and he's wemby out there that's that's a
really special human on the on the ice and in this league that's the worst moment for me because
florida did not need to get more florida and brad marchand makes them so florida he made a two
luster ryan in a home like a name that you talk around at the dinner table what it's it's the
I'm saying it like I'm answering a job interview where they're like, I work too hard is my worst strength.
I'm jealous of them getting Brad Marchand as my worst moment.
Worst moment was the vortex of time between July 1st, 2025 and July 1st, 2023.
Allowing Mitch Marner's no move clause to kick in.
july 1st 2023 is what has made 2025 so shit and we called it at the time and um we were right
we were always right we were always going to be right and we've been right since we were right
and no one has acknowledged that no one's had to pay for it except for shanahan yeah who was
allowed to stay in that job while we were right and he was wrong and i'll never forgive anyone
involved can i piggyback a subplot get on the second worst moment mitch sitting down with mark
masters we didn't need that we didn't need that go away you don't play here anymore yeah why did
you come here and do this fucking interview done and and then apparently complaining about it
afterwards that mark ambushed him in a sit down mark masters and it was like six minutes hey steve
like unbelievable yeah no that's a mark masters one of the worst moments what are we doing
what are we speaking about i am shocked by the way that you guys neither of you picked this as
a leaf fan i'm blown away that you guys skated on this one uh games five and seven round two
that was a layup though well i'm taking the layup then layup this is insane that was the
How do you get scored outscored 12 to two in games five and seven?
Adam, all of our both of our answers were around that same theme.
Yeah, they're all the same thing.
Or if we if you want me to pull away from that theme, how about this?
Jim Hiller, game three, Los Angeles, Edmondson.
Shoot.
Oh, but no, he deserves a job.
Shoot.
Hey, these guys think, oh, no, he's a great coach.
Jim Hiller.
Jim, that's a fireable offense.
You disagreed with me 40 minutes ago.
I never did.
No, I was being devil's advocate 40 minutes ago.
Steve did, not me.
Jim Hiller.
I'm sorry for adding depth.
Jim Hiller, game three.
You guys all know, Edmonton, LA.
Absolutely atrocious work.
That was the worst challenge any of us have ever seen,
and it turned the whole series around.
I forgot about the challenge.
It was crazy.
The challenge.
The challenge heard around the world.
Anyway, that's it for this particular episode,
but don't worry.

I don't
