for this one because this is the one that we get to draft players, feel really good about it, and then the next year go, what the hell was I thinking? yep i know i can't wait the team i drafted last year was the odds on favorite when i drafted it lots of people gave me cred but if you look at my last year's team now you go what's wrong with

this man who'd you pick oh i had like some and i hate to say this but like i picked you know huberto and oh no yeah you know it's like ah has it gone well but at that point he'd only been a little sluggish for a few weeks right oh this time last year you're right you know like oh man he's coming off of a 72 assist season i thought maybe he would make a rebound a year everybody a year is not a long time and it's such a long time a lot happens wow now before we uh before we say that i just want to say uh we are going to be in kingston uh for the front next game for the Steve Dangle podcast night Sunday January 21st 2024

haphouse which is amazing so we're really excited uh super pumped to be going to kingston and hopefully other cities to follow we do have some great stuff planned for the uh the new year so jesse can you explain the rules of the draft that we are about to commence yeah this is the second annual andre igudala gun to the earth fantasy nhl draft this is us drafting our best teams 12 forwards 6d two goalies and the idea is if we're gonna play a game where everybody is healthy one of our lineups you pick which one will win that game you know whoever has the best team that's how we're gonna do it i just want to say that i love that we're you know it's a tribute to andre igudala yeah i had a great career um and uh he's now retired and going on uh going on nba

podcast and making kevin durant angry he's better than steph curry yeah did you see that by the way did you see kevin durant tweeting about him because he said kevin durant's like doesn't like lift weights and yeah and then kevin durant tweeted about it and was really upset about it so he seems like the easiest person to upset in the world 100 now jesse how do we determine draft order as we did last year we will do it again the never failing rock paper scissors ah all right okay all right you guys for no hold on hold on we need to establish what's what's happening here first person out your third okay okay uh if there's a tie the winner they get first what happens if like adam and i both do rock and you do paper do you automatically get first pick

So maximum two minutes, 60 picks. Yeah, I think that's it. Last thing we need is Steve going, Oh, yeah, it's me.

If you remember last year, it got pretty intense with that two minutes. We were running up on it sometimes. I'm just writing my names down so I don't draft the same person. The same here. Steve did not come prepared. No, I didn't.

and you go well i'm the first one to pick a defenseman so you could be the first one to pick a goalie and then you get in your opinion the best one right which is i mean based on uh based on what we've seen peter marazic has got to be the guy all right lock it in so uh no um i am going to take uh a guy who i believe will come back from surgery perfectly fine and dominate people i could have taken one of the two boston goalies but i'm not going to i'm going on history and i'm going with andre vasilevsky okay wow yeah way too early for that put that out there that's you know in most years just write vassy maddie yeah yeah no try to spell vasilevsky but you know what you're pretty close yeah you've got an extra i in there but that's

there you go chuck right let's go okay guys well adam's up it blows my mind that this person is still on the list because i would argue that despite his team's terrible terrible performance this year he's still got to be considered a top five player in the nhl and he's always slept on and he's always dynamite in the playoffs when it matters the score of the golden goal oh you son of my god freaking Crosby baby too early no too early that's not too early he's eighth in scoring right now as of this recording good pick would have taken Marner you would have taken Marner shut up just stop it yeah mine's not a good check yeah there's a better Leafs right winger on the board

Max Domi. Artemi Panarin. Yeah. Yeah. He's probably dropped the furthest out of anyone. He is fifth in the NHL the day we're recording this in points per game. You got it, Matty.

in the southern part of the United States he might don a cowboy hat every now and again because of where he is Matthew Shane plays defense yes Oh Mira Heiskanen everybody have him on my list good pick shit no uh can yeah oh wow good fix well done maddie you got you got that spelling bee or something yeah no that's excellent alarmingly close to heineken now jesse did not outline for us beforehand that we had to

pick by position i did oh yes he did did he i didn't listen to it so this has thrown my draft into a bit of disorder but that's how we did it this is the second time we've done this like listen do you think i remember the first time no i know one of the most recent things in our group so here's what we're gonna do here's what i do because i i have the little chart where i have everybody's four lines and everything we have the you got to run four lines fair enough fair enough well in that case i'm gonna pick the best right right winger available and frankly one of the best playoff performers i've ever seen in my entire life the takeaway god the take god kerfoot mark stone oh okay all right i was hoping to get him later uh so i'm taking mark stone you should
