good start i got lozenges though maddie maddie beforehand was like do you need lozenges i was
like no i think i'm okay and she went and got she might be right anyway let's start the show
the steve dangle podcast with your host steve dangle adam wilde and jesse blake
actually just fine thank you you sound fine thank you you sound great okay now
steve you did a lot of talking last night uh-huh you know as much as you apparently you and jess
you're gonna have to do a lot of talking today yeah huh but oh no i want to start with the third
period comeback man the third period i was honestly i was sitting on my couch and i'm thinking
the series is over there's no oh same there's no life on this carolina team at all and and at
through what was it five and a half six periods or five and a half periods we had seen no life
I mean I know we'd seen some goals in the first game but like come on Stankoven's first goal I
think was in the 50th minute yeah right around the 10 yeah now I think a few things can be true
it once carolina had what should have been an excellent first period right before stankhoven
scored the goal um whoever was carrying it in the states espn i guess they had a graphic on
the screen and it was scoring chances by period for carolina it was 11 1 and 1 up to that point
like they had a really good first period came out of it losing and just got dominated in the second
it was it was kind of a carbon copy of the first game i thought uh just with different outcomes in
terms of uh who was scoring and they just needed someone to bust through like they play a good team
game and they're patient and they stick to what they do well even if they sometimes get flustered
and flub a pass or fan on a shot or whatever but at some point you just gotta score a damn goal
yeah yeah logan stankoven just grown man strength ah give me that takes it and that's what
started things going and you know it's it's amazing because um you know that's bad that's
been the line that carolina has relied on so much in this in these playoffs right but what i thought
was interesting and obviously i'm jumping ahead a little bit is they finally got somebody who has
kind of let them down offensively to score at the end of the game and i think that's the that's the
part where you know what we're talking about today which one like well what we're talking
about today is a heck of a lot different if those guys don't score but i want to talk about
um you know carolina ties it up and then the challenge and we're going straight there i think
we should start i mean that's the game is it not a little bit more flowers for stankovin because
the play he makes on rasmus anderson is just purely an individual effort it's unassisted for
a reason that's one guy who is the smallest man on the ice he's five eight seth jarvis's next
highest our next lowest i guess on the team at 5 10 so he's in two inches shorter than the next
guy on the team you think he likes mentioning it every time we talk about it's a part of his game
And there he goes against the 6-1 defenseman, Anderson, who hasn't had a great.
Oh, my God.
He's here.
Yo, we got it.
I want to put a pin in that.
We got to talk Rasmus Anderson.
And it's just one guy putting the whole team on his back to spur a comeback.
Like, it's a really special moment for him.
And I think if Carolina ends up winning it, that's the turning point of the entire series.
It's that single goal, because if they don't get that goal, if he doesn't, it's not even the goal.
if he doesn't make the play to go after that puck all by himself like a dog looking for a treat
that's stuck somewhere yeah they lose this game and i think the series is over someone in the chat
likened the challenge to the the one that turned the la edmonton series but you're right like what
ultimately will turn the series if carolina ends up coming up on top was that goal yeah and like
you said 10 20 uh into into that third period that's serious season is almost over yeah it's
it's funny you're going into vegas down oh two you're like okay you're dead yeah you're dead
even if you win you can win both games there i still think you're dead yep i agree um and i mean
i'm still sticking to my prediction but um uh they uh i completely forgot what i was gonna say
this doesn't happen often i completely that's okay i was gonna say oh yes there it is you got
it um yeah back on track so i was like carolina can't score won't score they're incapable
offensively it'll never happen again and then when they finally scored i was like dylan coglin
saved two goals he did like they could easily have the lead right now and they just don't it's
it's funny how like certain things uh you know color your perception of the game today you know
last episode was the colton sisson show this might be the dylan cogman show and well to get
to that moment i know you want to start at the third period but just to give some love to the
vegas side of things for getting to that point fuck him that game adam has a point that game
was almost the brett howden game that's what i was gonna say this is gonna be the story yeah he
has more goals in these playoffs than he had all regular season long he's the first person to ever
have 12 or more uh regular season goals and then outpace his playoff performance like he's the
first person ever to do this in that little amount of goals so it's a weird stat but it's a thing
and he's turned into this unreal goal scorer for this these couple weeks but have i not been saying
it since the anaheim series when carlson came back watch out for that line that's been the line what
makes it even stranger is they showed his playoff shooting percentage during the game but they
showed his uh regular season shooting percentage it's over 18 percent yeah that's high it's
ridiculous that's high and he only got 12 maybe shoot it eh and then now in the playoffs he's
shooting 36 percent yeah the thing you got to be scared about is like maybe they've unlocked even
more scoring on their team where it's like next regular season howden puts up 30 i here's he
easily could here's one thing that's good about where the nhl is at right now is we're two games
into the stanley cup final and all i keep hearing is this is the first time ever or this is the
first time in decades any of this has ever happened the howden stat is the first time ever
and uh the the the hurricanes one or the vegas one it was either blowing the leader coming back
from the deficit in game one and then the hurricanes did it again last night they're the
first team to come back from a multi-goal deficit with less than 10 minutes to go in a stanley cup
final game i think ever yeah it's i feel like every playoff we're now this has never happened
before this has never happened the fact that now you can't turn off a game because the team's got
a two goal lead it's not the devils of the 2000s anymore no you can't sit on the puck because all
of these teams are coming back and yeah you're it's the first time ever we've had multi-goal
comeback victories by both teams in a stanley cup final back-to-back games because hockey is a lot
different now the the reason i banged the drum so hard for the current game like again if you're
younger listening to this you won't understand if your team was down two with like i don't know
six minutes to go shut the game off and go to bed yeah that's what it was that's what it was
for a long time yeah and now your team could be down two with again six minutes to go and it's
like they might win it in regulation and i'll stay up and after stan coven's goal is the guy
who hasn't scored all playoffs jankowski right and it's two and a half minutes later asterisk
on that he had a goal disallowed i think it was in the send series yeah that means that he hasn't
scored i know but he had a playoff he had a playoff ot winner and he and then it was called
i don't think the asterisks apply no i'm just throwing it um uh and you know what's interesting
about that goal is it's the most mark jankowski goal of all time it's just i think i i don't think
i don't have a good history do you to me it's just like i was like first off the carolina crowd i
think was the mvp last night yeah they willed that with with you know you know 15 minutes like
sorry at the you know five minute mark into the period the crowd just decided okay they don't
have it but we do they were getting pissed and they you're totally right and we're just going
to cheer them into scoring a fucking goal here just one give me one they i paid 125 for parking
that's apparently what people have to pay in carolina it's like 125 bucks american and there's
no uh no public transit there either so good yeah so i paid all this money i probably paid more for
parking than i did for my damn ticket and i am i'm going to see a goal and i just thought and
They got a classic.
They got a classic Mark Jankowski goal that we all know and love.
Nobody's going to go score a goal like that.
It wasn't just coming down, ripping it bar down.
People know the Ovi spot and they know the Jankowski goal.
He's got a brand, Jesse.
Let me try to find career goals Mark Jankowski.
Bring it up on the thing.
Bring it up on the thing.
What?
His goal?
Yeah.
Can you bring it up on the NHL dot simulator, whatever it's called?
The goal visual.
oh wow mark jankowski who's 31 and has aged amazingly he looks like he's freaking 23 good
looking man in 482 games he has 79 goals that's a lot of goals remember everyone that's roughly
one every four games this is his first double digit goal season since pre-covid um so what
exactly is a choo-choo get on the jankowski train is what it fucking means i never saw it coming
i never saw it coming so to watch 77 it's highlighted there what i love about this is
just wham oh there you go oh yeah like we've seen dozens of times before here's what i here's what
i mean what i mean by that is this is the that line using its speed and grittiness there's no
there's nothing should this should be a nothing play that should have been i can i just point
out too who is the one who's right in front of jenkaus oh the guy we're talking about later uh
the the puck shot right by him that is rasmus anderson play it again um so will carrier is
the one who stays on side here by basically doing the splits lozong to me uh wears a lot of the
blame because he goes and takes carrier but he also boots the puck in yeah he boots the puck
into the zone and anderson just doesn't pick up on it quickly enough so it is partially on anderson
but lozon wears a little bit of this too we're kind of lucky at the beginning of that play that
barbachev does not intercept that if you go back to the beginning look at 49 watch watch 49 so
there's 50 and the puck goes right through him oh he's such an incredible player dude
barbachev he's he's unbelievable amazing amazing yeah he's really really good so so the jankowski
goal goes in and then we have i think that the turning point of the whole game right
there were technically two and we will talk about how jason blake almost cost his team
the win in a second but jackson jackson blake excuse me um looking at the so freddie anderson
is sprawled out on the ice right what did you think adam and i thought you thought great
goaltending i well listen i wasn't a fan of the first two goals he let in because he had clear
sights on both of them especially the first one it was i was like oh my god freddie the second one
to me like that's a beautiful goal the first one I'm like and make us say and to be fair on the
second goal he also has Slavin trying to get the puck off the carrier right so you'd think between
the two of them they'll get yeah the first one was brutal yeah this one is just a goalie kind
of out of position diving across jumping on the puck and I don't understand why it is such a big
deal whether it was goaltender interference or not the the play was blown dead so okay so that's
it's not true because if it was then they wouldn't have been able to challenge for goal interference
this is where it's weird and has the nhl released anything on this yeah okay they have i need to
understand this because i didn't get it right so this is what the confusion is i'm like oh well
it's blown dead that's what i thought but it was apparently it was waved off because of goalie
interference yeah oh so i thought i heard a whistle there did you not hear i also heard a whistle but
then there's like intent to blow the thing or whatever continuation here's the problem like
mark messier is on tv yesterday and which is a shame and damn shoot i mean i agree but you didn't
have to say it you could you could learn a few players uh the the ruling uh from the nhl is that
this i'm just gonna quote them should read them the ruling on the play was goaltender interference
he waved it off immediately he believed that it was under the goalie and the vegas player went
after the puck and interfered with the goalie and his ability to freeze the puck and waved it off
immediately which is true yeah which is exactly true what blew me away about this challenge was
that torts made it and i think that was fully emotional i don't think that came from anything
other than john going john was very he was vintage torts uh in a few different ways last night when
braden mcnabb got the puck to the face he was screaming at the referee for no reason and this
is not there's a cross check he thought there was but he's full of shit what he's like look at the
fucking ipad john what he was trying when first of all he doesn't do that let me say this let me
say this he doesn't believe in i john john was full clown show john tortorella for me last night
he was he was all over the refs he was all of it and and it's like at a there are times where
that's extremely measured and helpful when he does that and effective and there's other times like
last night where he let his emotions get the best of him a a cold light of day look at this play
this is too risky and they also made the challenge john made the challenge because he said he goes
i have the best penalty kill in the league right now and i'm facing one of the worst power plays
in the league and that's why i feel at liberty to do this it's a a hundred percent it is it's
it was emotional but i think it was also a justifiable risk and you know i'm not a huge
fan towards okay but like is is is that coming from his video staff upstairs or is that coming
from towards his brain that's what i'd like that's why you have a video staff upstairs that's what
i'd like to know uh i imagine it was chaos on the bench so i will say this vegas looked incredibly
composed and jordan stall had a great quote uh post game he's like you know they're a really
patient team but yep human yep right this this was a human sequence i thought like they were
compose compose compose okay you allow a goal okay you allow a second goal and then the human
element comes into it so torts is emotional we know that could this goal have counted
i don't i know i think no chance so no no no no here wait go ahead so it could have counted
vegas believes in their penalty kill and they don't believe in carolina's past yes it's crazy
storybook this is why we watch sports stuff that carolina's power play scored on that one
like no notes couldn't have written it better like that's mighty duck shit like the fact that
they struggle for so long and they scored that particular one yep they had earlier opportunities
they didn't even get a shot they scored like right away on this one so sorry that's what i
no no i think that's great and i think after all of that they also score a goal and tie the game
so in the end i had no problem with the challenge because everything was equal and they went to
overtime i uh i mean i i think that it didn't have to go that way though right like it it didn't
vegas had an opportunity to win the game and i think i i i thought at the end of it i was like
i'm not hung up on that challenge anymore because his team bailed them out that's why you have that's
like the same thing where if you take the penalty and they kill the power play then your team bailed
you out they scored a goal they bailed but if jackson blake doesn't make the dumbest play of
the playoff so far which that interference was then that game ends 3-2 in regulation
most likely if you look at this here i don't i don't know jackson blake's interference after
this that led to vegas's power play but we can't that was the dumbest play i've ever seen him make
we can't then sequence how the game would have played out if it doesn't job here you
that bailed him out though no i'm there the goal did like there was three two and then they scored
that literally is what happened i don't think we can deduce what would have happened if he doesn't
challenge but i know what did happen in reality and that's vegas scored and they got back into
the game and they had a chance i'll explain the why they ruled that this was goal interference
because i know you're you're yelling to get to what's on the screen so i'll do that i want to
finish that conversation though okay so on the screen right now is barbachev reaching for the
puck the reason that they called it goalie interference is because the puck was here
under freddie i'll go back to where you can see it so the puck is loose and barbachev does reach
for it but the flex on the stick here where he looks like he touches the puck i think he touches
the puck but he also raises freddie's arm because the puck slap there that he makes isn't gonna flex
his stick to the point where it's bent he is raising freddy's arm you can't touch the goalie
while you're reaching for the puck that's under him a referee came in waved it off situation room
agreed with the ref's call there so they have i think enough evidence there to prove that
barbachev touched freddy when he's going to reach for that puck and batted it it's just it's funny
like i know john tortorella screamed in the room what is freddy's number freaking 11 because
jordan stall to try to tackle him right on top of them flatten that back but barbachev is the
one who interfered yeah but i think we can all agree like he's hitting freddy there yeah yeah
it is the right call and that's why i said it's never gonna be a goal yeah i didn't think it was
gonna be that was a dumb to me dumb stupid don't need to do it you have a time out like yeah you
could have used it there it's tied game with if i'm not mistaken exactly five minutes to go in
the third like if you give up a power play here and you give up a goal here there's a really good
chance you lose and what's crazy is the disaster situation happened and they still tied i think
like i think it was right to trust your penalty kill in that moment it's a good risk to take
because if you're right you're up 2-0 in the series and we all just said it's over if you're
up too well plus your penalty kill was fantastic the carolina power play is anemic until that
moment and then you also scored a goal so you trusted your players to do that so i think at
the end of the day it was a wash and i don't i don't i know adams hates me for defending torts
no no no i don't hear i don't i just so wrong so what is what is the more likely outcome uh
because i don't know it's i'll just say this i don't think it's likely that jason blake makes
the dumbest jackson jackson blake i i don't think it's likely that he makes the dumbest play of the
playoffs in the intervening minutes i don't think that that's likely i'll be honest with you that
was that interference it was such a bonehead dumbass move from a player that desperately
wants to win that was a stupid fucking play let's just call it what it was so mad at jack
i'm so mad at him one so fucking one last thing on the challenge go ahead you're john tortorella
you think it's a 50 50 play there's exactly five minutes to go what do you think is more likely
carolina scores on this power play and we're not able to tie it after or this goal counts
and all we have to do is kill the next five minutes
if i'm towards i think i have a better likelihood of the second one
hmm but carolina took advantage and i think carolina knew that their power play was being
disrespected in that moment i think they knew i think it's an interesting thought listen even if
it even if you even if torts denies it like i get his line of thinking he's got the best penalty
kill in the league like it's amazing so why wouldn't you do that and if you're a canes player
you got to take you got to take that as motivation whether it's true or not it's like tom brady it's
us against the world nobody believed everybody believed him you know like that and and i the
the goal that they score is awesome jordan stall always looks surprised when he scores well i think
we're all surprised what jordan stall scores that's the fourth of the playoffs how dare you
he's what's amazing about him is them sending him out for all the face-offs and then immediately
pulling him off the ice because he's just so good at them they didn't there except for the one yeah
yeah they didn't there um net front buddy so they score and then jackson blake with what three
minutes to go son of jason yes that's son of jason don't get it wrong uh he i don't what
was he doing does it change your mind to know that mark stone didn't even score on that power play
well he scored right after it that the puck was already the goal doesn't technically come on the
power they're not in that offensive zone with tired legs if it wasn't for for that they scored
like five seconds after it's always i i always loves you know we've been in broadcast trucks
during games i love the decision of which opposing player does the camera go to first
and they score they tie the game pandemonium in the corner jackson blake the closest close-up ever
of jackson blake uh i it's not all on him but it was a bad penalty to take at a bad moment and in
the end it didn't matter like they won the game on their power play again it's almost garbage it's
almost better for carolina that they won the way that they did because it's like uh uh killing two
birds with one stone like seth jarvis gets one it's another power play goal an overtime winner
is always going to be more thrilling yeah um you know someone's just tearing each other apart
amazing yeah uh and i i got asked like who has the momentum heading into game three because like
vegas played a really good game i'm like the team that won like it's clearly the team that won it
doesn't matter um would it not build your confidence too to know that you came back
lost the lead again and then came back again and scored two on the power play like that to me
that's better cinema that wasn't them sneaking away with the win right maybe the 3-2 victory
is them sneaking away with right they actually won that fair and square yeah let's see those
those two incidences that i feel like everybody's hung up on today the torts challenge and the adam
you're hung up on this one the jackson blake penalty i don't know and freddie like those
two things at the end of the day didn't really matter because we got to three three and then
the overtime oh how do we get to three three nobody but neither of those were the game winning
goal like it wasn't like that led directly to the victory yeah you know so yeah yeah well listen i
I think it's going to be your coffee this morning.
I think it's awesome.
I just I got so mad because I was like, listen, Carolina fans have been all over our shit about.
Oh, you've been underrating us.
You've been underrating us, especially on my Freddie Anderson take.
And through the first two games of these playoffs of these of these finals, I sure don't feel bad about my Freddie.
He hasn't been good enough.
Matt, what's up, Matt?
You want to talk about vintage torts?
This is vintage Adam.
Hey, just hate.
It's great.
But I think what was great is that they did that, and that's great.
But now, okay, let's just be frank about how that game went.
I'd rather be Steve.
Nine times out of ten, Vegas wins that game.
I totally agree.
And so what does Carolina do to be good in the first 50 minutes?
Next game.
In Vegas.
Right?
I thought they were good.
They were good, but they weren't getting anything through.
Yeah.
That is true.
It's good on paper.
It's Carolina good when they're still losing.
This is...
carolina has to be better and quicker at being like we're doing it again
right we're doing it again and carolina does this a lot they do it again where like you look at the
numbers and you're like they're kicking ass question mark yeah but it's weird they had more
of the puck they had more ozone time they had more shot attempts they had more shots they had
more scoring chances i thought vegas was dictating the game yeah it's the thing like that leaves them
when they get swept their coach to go on a podium be like it wasn't really a sweep
because they feel like they they lose this way all the time yeah but that first period it was
a lot of carolina and they leave that period trailing on the scoreboard and that's how they
lose these games and they need to break through and be like okay we might be winning the expected
meter but that's not how you actually win the game it became very obvious like again like this
is back-to-back second periods where vegas goes okay our turn yeah and carolina didn't have a
counterpunch vegas kept the puck to the perimeter the blue line is a fortress um i don't know i
don't know what you do going into next game other than be a little more belligerent and maybe you
just are more confident and believe in yourself a little bit more um because you a few guys got
their cookies yeah like that was jane galsky's first of the playoffs what uh jarvis can we talk
about power play we talk about ajo the first line let's talk about get going at five on five like
they do but i thought third period and overtime ajo looked very good okay that's prior to that
yeah i was like just this guy so we need that the third period overtime guy to show up in first
period uh-huh okay i because like if i'm vegas if i'm a vegas fan right now yeah i'm disappointed
about last night but i still feel pretty good when rod got the blender out i was like oh they're in
trouble and about five minutes after that when nothing changed at all i'm like oh they're they
might get swept yeah yeah yeah you're i think you're so right that vegas should feel very good
because we haven't mentioned this this whole time they played with five defensemen yeah and they
barely lost that well and a very key shutdown yeah oh yeah the huge piece of their d there were some
guys out there in situations that they probably wouldn't have uh been out there with uh or in
traditionally i've been really impressed with coglin since the anaheim series like i would
honestly did if you had done a who he played for i'd have been like i have no idea and uh the guy's
been a very solid like you know what zach white cloud was um uh on their way to the 2020 was it
2023 final they won yeah yeah against florida like that kind of guy um that's kind of how he's felt
he's been a very solid or nick hag you know some of the depth that they didn't want to pay for
anymore um they have found it in this guy and that's what the best teams do and i really i
really respect the way he plays the game super boring he's like oh yeah he's like everything
that they told me brett kulak was right and i'm not saying brett kulak's not brett kulak i'm just
saying he's a cheaper version well but he may he shoots right-handed so he should make probably
six or seven forty forty million well listen if lilligren makes 3.25 that guy's gonna make five
so did you know that dylan coglan was traded for future considerations twice wow uh 2022
this is from hockey db he was traded from the vegas golden knights with max patch ready yeah
to carolina for future considerations so it was like here please take this contract and we'll
even throw in dylan for future considerations okay then he's traded from carolina to winnipeg
for future considerations winnipeg could have used him this year please take dylan and then
he was signed by the vegas golden knights who have now had him twice and the stanley cup final
making an impact he's played steve hold on hold on steve you would know this but adam how many
games has he played in the regular season for vegas this year this year yeah i'm gonna say
if it was over under 25 i'd say under 25 what's your number uh 18 go ahead three what he played
amazing three regular season games this year and he's got a goal and three how many games
in the playoffs is he 10 games incredible incredible what the hell the first 10 games
of his playoff career he's been great he's been great genuinely great he played with the
henderson silver knights this year 62 times yeah the guy i really want to shout out to is nick
dowd man what a what a pickup you like and you know toronto was looking for a fourth line center
last year at the deadline we decided we would trade a first round pick for that um you know
when vegas does it they trade a third round pick and they pick up a guy like nick dowd and what
does nick dowd do was the second and third a second and third oh whatever it was it wasn't
a first man it's yeah and he's been phenomenal like what a fit pain in the ass line that line
sucks to play against i feel obligated to murder murder murder murder murder murder yeah that's
why i want to talk about some of these guys that are not getting in their flowers here well let's
give marner some flowers because we've never done that once he uh man he was great last night well
he yeets a no look backhander into space and i've seen that happen before and it ended up on a
florida panthers stick yeah or it ended up in the 14th row yeah and instead it ends right in front
of brett howden for the first goal of the game on their second shot and uh he assists on the uh
game tying goal from mark stone it goes to the net freddie saves it bink bink bunk and uh stone
bats it out of the air that's a solid two assist game absolutely absolutely and and again jesse
nailed it if they didn't come back we're talking about how didn't marner this morning that's yeah
yeah like yeah that heart the patience on that on that play the the mark stone goal to just wait it
out kind of wait it out and probably everybody in the arenas or everybody who's a vegas fan is
yelling shoot and he recognizes i'm gonna find a hole and he gets through and it leads to that
goal it's a really good play by marner what is it with mark stone like first off just this is the
best compliment i can give mark stone which is if mark stone's playing against me i hate him
if he's playing on my team i love him right love him in the olympics hate him when he plays the
Leafs right um and I hated him in Ottawa too uh what is it about certain guys like that that just
have the clutch gene because of course it was him that scored the third goal of course it fucking
was he tries harder than you he tries harder than everybody he what do you mean he's a captain who
makes nine million dollars and is on the Canadian Olympic team and he's not a good skater what are
you talking about what does that mean takeaway i think he's always among the leaders in neutral
zone takeaways every year the jankiest tape job on a stick in the league i think everyone focuses
on the blade no no look at the monstrosity that is the knob of his stick it looks like henrik
lundqvist yeah yeah yeah but he's a winger what why no he just he works harder he's more belligerent
uh good hand eye he doesn't have stone hands um he he works harder than you beginning middle end
and you know when you have a captain like that the whole team rises to it 100 you could see it
you could see with barbachev you could see it with you know hurdle i know he's in the box last night
for a goal against the big one but hurdle you know was really bad to start the playoffs he wasn't i
mean we had a really cold march in that um since the anaheim series has come on and become classic
thomas hurdle and we know there's a lingering injury there one day he's just not going to be
able to play anymore and whatever it is that he's fighting through he's fighting through it quite
well and i think that goes with mark stone kind of pushing everybody up hurdle sags a bit like
they got to pick them up after this they do that's that's uh a big job over the next 48 hours is they
got to pick them i'm sure they will they're full of confidence now um i want to do you guys have
anything else on this game you want to talk about because there's a couple of breaking news items
that i want to get uh let me show you a picture of mark stone's knob not that yeah there it is
uh that is what steve was referring looks like a golf club it does kind of look like a knob yeah
it's insane that stick must weigh 40 pounds i believe he said he uses it because one time he
injured his hand and then he started using this to alleviate some of the the pressure
and then he just got used to using it okay but like no wonder he never loses a hockey is
fascinating in sports because i think it i'm trying to think of another sport
that gives you the freedom hockey does with what your equipment can look like and have on it right
like there there aren't really strict regulations on the tape job on your stick look at the sticks
next to it you can see the shaft through the tape yeah and then there's this thing that looks like
several gym socks taped to the butt end of it and like i i still maintain even though it's
cool and funny ryan o'reilly his stick is illegal his stick it should not be allowed ryan o'reilly's
with the little thing on the end you google ryan o'reilly's goofy ass yeah that's a little
little hook on the end it's a hook it's a freaking hook it shouldn't be allowed but it's fun he's got
trade protection and he's got hook protection okay he has neither of those things no he does
you need to respect you need to respect ryan o'reilly i've seen it in person someone brought
it to escape and i was like what i was just allowed it was cool when he was on my team
i liked it and just to clean up something from earlier adam you were saying on the jankowski
goal when eric robertson passed the puck you're like oh barbachev could have just stole it that
pass was um in the air it was in the air it was oh it was over everybody so he couldn't have stolen
i guess he's not this year what's that missed opportunity from barb yeah no consummate for
him this year that's all i gotta say 100 clutch canadians presented by moosehead canadian lager
remember moosehead the last major brewery in canada still owned by canadians all right let's
get canadian on you uh who is your moosehead 100 clutch canadian this week jesse steve who wants
to i can go first because i have a legacy pick this man's grand uncle is hockey hall of famer
red kelly i don't know if you're aware but i ran i haven't told you the person yet but his grand
uncle is red kelly his dad oh his grandfather lou appeared in 127 nhl games and now he has
scored a very consequential goal which he always seems to do in the playoffs because classic
jankowski jankowski mark jankowski is my pick of this week he's a hockey netball baby he comes from
a very esteemed hockey family where's he from he is from dundas ontario got it which is just
outside of hamilton yeah hamilton yeah dundas got it they i was like yep oh really you've never
driven through dundas i'm sure i have or buy it my brain just kept going the street in toronto
and my your brain never just spammed the wrong answer adam said it's west of young street yeah
which is why you've never been west of young yeah also west of young street north vancouver bc ah
who do you have which is where colton sissons okay i like that sissons had 11 points in 66 games
this season he's got 7 in 18 uh in this playoff run he had a big assist the other night he's
always used in all kinds of situations for vegas they have a lot of star power and name brand but
Sissons is one of those guys who he was drafted in 2012 yeah drafted a very long time ago this is
his first season not as a Nashville Predator and he's getting it done good for him uh mine is going
to go to Duncan BC's Dylan Coughlin right shot defenseman who saved two goals straight up last
night and has done it a couple of times Carter Hart made sure to like give him a hug after the
play um and the great thing about it uh obviously we talked about it earlier on the show he played
three regular season games this year um he's played 10 in the playoffs he played uh six last
year and won the year before so his nhl games in these playoffs are equal to his last three regular
seasons it's unbelievable yeah it's it's crazy he's riding a roll and he did score in in uh i
mean i think it was in the anaheim series um this guy is a he's a gamer and he's 28 and he's right
shot and he's six foot two he's in for a raise man traded for future considerations twice it's
crazy wow those are your 100 clutch canadians this week make sure to keep leaving your suggestions
of course 100 clutch canadians presented by moose at canadian longer um okay so moving on uh
montreal canadians got a couple of big honors this morning oh uh you've not heard this jesse
probably has seen this nick suzuki has won the selkie and cole caulfield won the lady big wow
yeah okay for them uh that goes hand in hand with john cooper winning coach of the year last or
yesterday which is his revenant it is genuinely this is his was this his best coached year no
i i'm not it might crack the top five yeah and a lot of people said lindy ruff got robbed i get
why sabers fans are saying that they won 62 games yeah i i get it i get it so the i saw i didn't see
this last night um but i saw it this morning apparently there's like a little controversy here
yeah so first of all it was a very close vote yeah so what um what michael russo said well i
guess frege said it is there are 40 broadcasters didn't return their ballots for the jack adams
the nhl needs to take that honor away from if that's true the nhl needs to take that honor
away from the broadcasters association that's egregious when only 99 voted so for anybody
that's wondering the the people were blaming the writers for this the writers do not vote on this
this is broadcasters so your tnts your espns your tsn's your sports nets and i guess it's a bunch of
a panel of people that are picked i i'm assuming i don't play by play people i would assume anybody
who's a member of the broadcasters association there you go and i guess uh a full third of them
did not uh return their ballots and if you do not submit a ballot for the for the writers portion so
the pwha um hpa there you go thank you uh when they vote on all of the other awards the heart
and all that if you don't submit a ballot your um voting privileges are revoked you don't get
them back okay if you don't participate you don't get a vote anymore why with the broadcasters it's
clearly not the same thing because people just don't vote some years and then they're still
eligible to vote and i think it's ridiculous do you think there was a mix up there this feels
that feels 40 feels like a lot no i think it's people not taking it as seriously as they should
man what an honor to be able to vote to be asked to vote i cannot imagine passing them i don't
think they should have the right to vote if this is how they treat it yeah um i think i like i think
lindy ruff should have won but i'm not going to take away from john cooper's win because he's
deserving of an award like this um he did a great job with all the injuries and everything my problem
is the process here and clearly the broadcasters association does not take this as seriously
as the pwhpa and it's ridiculous that the nhl is handing out their awards like this when
the writers do a great job with it and they should be voting on something like this and
they do this with only two awards the broadcasters vote on the jack adams and then the gms vote
on the vesna trophy and then all of the other ones are for the writers and it just seems a
little wonky that you would do it this way i'm not saying i want that privilege because i don't
think i should have it um or any of us but like well you got to pay for that privilege betty a
lot i'm gonna pay billions of dollars for that privilege but like there's got to be some prestige
and pride in what you do and in the sport um and yeah that's bullshit like what a shame yeah what
a shame that like you know john cooper has to wait this long for some reason to get his first jack
adams he gets it and and then there's like oh did he even deserve it oh it was a close vote oh
a third or whatever it was of the voters didn't even vote you summed that's a point he summed up
my feelings exactly when i sat there and i heard that oh 40 guys didn't want to do it it's like
yeah what like you got this great honor from the highest league in the world and you couldn't be
bothered are we sure that are we sure that that's what happened because to me like 40 seems such a
big number that it's like somebody must have forgot did they not send the email through 40
people i mean that's that's quite the thing that's crazy for that that has to be an error
i hope so because that's quite the thing for elliot friedman just yeah i don't think lob
into the world that up yeah like elliot elliot is somebody that takes it extremely serious yeah
and he doesn't have a broadcast he doesn't have a vote in this like elliot freeman wouldn't be one
of the people who has a vote because he's not but he's not a part of the broadcasters surely
co-workers would i don't know you would think it's bloody sports net i don't know he's not one
of them but he so he wouldn't vote on it and he let us know that people just skipped out it's
something and it's crazy it's something i do believe that you got to take extremely seriously
like if you're you have to remember like the end of the day what we do what we get to do for a
what they get to do for a living is like the greatest job ever. And for you to be so high up
in the greatest job ever that you get a chance to vote on an award. Listen, I don't like the NHL
awards that much. I don't care that much, but if I got that, I would take that as I would be
researching for days to make sure I had it right. That would matter. And I do think I just, that's
why I think 40 is such a high number. It's crazy. That's crazy to me. So anyway, it's a, it's a
shame but congrats to uh montreal suzelki or suzelki uh suzelki suzuki with the selkie
caulfield with the bing um i'm heck of an end of the season habs fans are gonna be insufferable
all summer and god bless them they should be right why not sometimes life throws your curveballs and

I want to talk about the Montreal-Toronto connection
that broke out yesterday too.
So David Pagnotta and then Elliott Friedman
backed him up this morning.
And we had heard this trade before.
It wasn't like this wasn't rumored,
but it was supposed to be that Bradtree Living
had a deal to send matthew nize to the montreal canadians uh for a couple of prospects including
alexander zharovsky i think it's zharovsky uh and and another top prospect that could be ryan
backer that could be haggie i hate that i hate that i hate that i hate that because that who
are you talking yeah so who is the other top prospect because to me that decides the whole
deal if you're getting zarofsky and hage i'm like okay i feel a little bit better about this but if
you're getting you know knee replacement david reinbacher i'm like okay well i'm a little and
then it also included two first round picks imagine you ordered a happy meal and they're
like we'll give you a big mac a toy and a mystery item a mystery food item i mean that actually kind
of sounds yeah i don't know i've got in listen yeah can you go wrong with any other sides it
could be another big mac oh it could also just be like a ketchup packet like can it be a k-pop
demon hunters toy oh my god you know what it could be my kid wants those so bad it could be it could
be it could also be some kid we drafted in the seventh round in 2024 we don't care about like
yeah you know what i mean like who's the prospect what are you talking about yep i hate that but
you know it's a boat but the mystery box could be anything it could even be a boat what's
fascinating about it is Montreal fans are like that's way too much outrageous Toronto fans are
that's way way too little outrageous and to be honest um I think I think depending on the
prospect and depending upon where the Leafs thought they were going to go because like you have to
remember where the NH or the Leafs were at the trade deadline no first round picks no real I was
outside of like cow and danford how the prospects in the system were looking a little thin right if
you were going to go for a retool on the fly that'd be a great way to kickstart it except you
can now see why austin might have been like what the hell's going on oh i totally totally believe
all of that by the way with austin and the and the reason it was linked or nix by the way before i
let you go off is that the paperwork was filed at 301 so the the there was elliot said there was a
um a lot of finger pointing on both sides about why it didn't get done because the deal was done
and they filed it and it didn't happen and by the way i don't know if you remember this we were told
that a deal was filed at the deadline that was too late we were told that behind the scenes on
trade deadline day oh yeah i don't remember that yeah we had somebody tell us that oh yeah and so
like here's here's the thing go i think it's incredible that the leafs and habs managed to
put together a deal that makes sense for neither team actually i don't think that makes sense for
either team well because they don't get a center they yes nize is a great player and he'll add
value and he'll obviously make your uh winger depth even better but you don't address a weakness
at all i don't think you get a little bigger he's awesome he's a nail gun and having him why on
earth would you trade that player in division are you out of your mind basically you have to
play slaf and then nize every one and two every are you out of your mind yeah what are you stupid
oh my god yeah i'd so but again you look at how this playoffs panned out for
montreal and nize is a gamer like he races in the playoffs which you can't say about a ton of guys
in blue and white but you can definitely say about him i don't think the way their playoffs
ended ends much differently if they get him and then he was also injured he was also injured and
then with the leafs you get a bunch of futures that aren't even guaranteed to be in your lineup
for several years so you're doing full rebuild then that seems to be that's what like if that
deal goes through and we get the first overall pick this year i think they're rebuilt still
You're looking at what Chicago did with Debrinket and Hagel and going, ooh, give me that. I want that. Let me trade really good player in his early 20s for more mystery box shit. What are you doing? It makes more sense for Montreal than the Leafs, but I don't really think it makes sense for either team.
Jesse, I'm curious about what your thoughts are on just what the return would have been. And put yourself in the headspace of where the Leafs were at the deadline and not with the first overall pick. That's a key differentiator.
Yeah. The thing that upsets me about hearing exactly kind of what went down with this deal
is the fact that Bradshaw Living could have mortgaged the future or picked a direct direction
for the Leafs when moments before that, they're considering either extending him or firing him.
And they sat on that decision and didn't make anything.
A week prior to that, they're like, we're a buyer.
Right.
What? And now you're trading knives?
And if he's able to file the paperwork or whoever didn't do it on time,
if they do it two minutes earlier
and it actually makes the deadline
and then Bradshaw Living is ultimately fired
and he made this catastrophic decision
for this franchise to pick a really hard direction
in where they're going
and selling somebody now for futures,
that's an egregious mistake.
And it just screams to me,
we could do this for an hour
about how Keith Pelley ran the team in the fall
or in the winter there
and his lack of decision-making
and Brad's sitting on his hands a long time.
But it's just more of that story.
And I'm so happy that we're kind of now past that point of the Leafs, because last season, this is just more of the tumultuousness that was the Leafs.
And now we're in this new regime with Chayka and Sundin, and I'm happy that this Leafs isn't there anymore.
Seems to be calmer and more methodical, does it not?
Can I proffer a suggestion here?
We yelled about that for months, and we don't need to do it again.
But yeah, that's all it reminds me.
I'm getting PTSD.
can i get can i give you a little bit of a conspiracy theory that i think might actually
be true i think i know what you're gonna say what do you think i'm gonna say whoever filed
the paperwork did it late on purpose no no but if that's the case i want to give them a gentle
kiss on the forehead and buy them david the leafs from the leaf yeah brandon pridham's parting gift
uh i gotta take a piss sorry i'll just wash my hands really thoroughly that's funny let's go
back to leaf's trade deadline forget the nice stuff uh because we didn't know that that was
happening at the time the ai in the room glitched other than that other than that what do we know
about the leaf's trade deadline what happened uh think about it it was chaotic and it was very last
minute they uh mcmahon was traded last minute lotten was traded last minute why lotten was a
send all email to all the gms he's like i need a trade guys
and then he got it done i'm doing my homework what'd you get for number eight um uh why was
it last minute because of brad they didn't make any decisions up until that because they were
putting together this montreal deal no you think so i think this deal would have sucked up a lot
of oxygen in the room and if i'm i hate the return for lotten and i hate the return for mcmahon
if that was the price of keeping knives i'm fine with it yeah i'm just saying i think they were
hyper focused on this montreal deal a lot like what happened last year when who were they hyper
focused on last year uh oh martian rasmus spent all my money anderson oh and that's why i'm never
letting the rasmus anderson deal led directly to what brandon carlo being a top five protected
uh that that that the reason the carlo deal happens is because the leafs the flames held
the leafs on the line with rasmus anderson for weeks and the hours leading up the leafs had to
pivot last hour they pivoted to brandon carlo and the best they could get was a top five protected
pick and god bless them they got they got around it but damn brad treliving is an extremely nice
man extremely kind man every moment he spent on the phone with the calgary flames as the gm of
the Toronto Maple Leafs was wage theft yep they were never going to make a trade with you no they
were oh no no I believe that you believe that they were never going to trade with you yeah
Zdorov and Tanev remember that was going to happen Anderson Anderson stop yeah stop it and by the way
the way that Anderson's played in these playoffs I'm glad we didn't get him you know what's great
I don't I think he looked real good on a real bad team he might end up winning the cup but like
i see the breakdowns at the end of that carolina game and i'm like i still think my criticisms of
that deal are valid yeah and i i don't think they're going to resign them not even criticisms
like reservations if they resign him it's going to be at a lot lower than he wanted it to be well
now you can go out and get freaking dylan larkin well yeah we're gonna get we are so just on the
leafs thing before we get to larkin i think um i think that what happened at the deadline was
toronto was trying to put a mega deal with nice together and we heard about new jersey as well
Nemech's name was in there.
I kind of wonder how much oxygen that soaked up and allowed for the rest of the guys.
You know, you're Oliver Ekman Larson's, you're Bobby McMahon's, you're Scott Lawton's.
Guys that they held out of the lineup, right?
Those deals couldn't get done.
How, you know, the thing out of Edmonton was that it was going to be like a nurse for Ekman Larson or something like that.
And I have a hard time believing that.
I don't.
i don't i don't what like nurse was it nurse for mcmahon and ekman larson or something like that
i'd have been like what are you doing so whatever it was maybe it was a good thing keith was in the
room here's the difference between true living and chica yeah with true living i was like i don't
know what he's gonna do and with chica i'm like i don't know what he's gonna do do you see the
difference yeah there's some hope in that oh yeah what if things work out okay there wasn't any of
that a few months ago. Two in five Canadians will hear the words, you have cancer. That's why every

let me it was four four seconds into the second well that's i mean listen listen what he's
efficient one of my favorite interviews yeah no you got to get to the shit come on you know now
first off it's jesse there's a link in the prep i want you to show everybody okay that one there
the one i've highlighted yeah i want to say something the one that it says steve eisman
and it's just an extra the failed eiser plan the you turning on larkin you're turning on the wrong
person the the contract extension talks in 2023 were not fun and it's funny because steve eisman
was on agent provocateur and he was a phenomenal interview like he was really really interesting
and he and alan sort of touched on how things got kind of bad with drew ann in tampa and how they
they were not happy with each other and i think probably had a cooling off period but ultimately
you know came back and you know are friendly and work together and that sort of thing
i don't know that larkin's relationship with the red wings that they're suggesting that it's never
just never quite been the same i also wonder i wonder like olympian gold medalist captain
um i wonder if some of these guys who have signed long deals and i think he has five years left yeah
it's seven or no eight point eight point seven oh it's great oh my god you know you know i sometimes
i wonder if some of these guys are like i fucked up oh yeah i fucked up i shouldn't have done that
because that like the red wing should be able to command a king's ransom for this player does he
have he has full no trade for no trade they will not and a part of elliott freeman's report when
he originally reported that dylan larkin wants out of detroit was that he's unhappy with the
losing and that his relationship with steve irisman is frosty yeah they they do not have
a good relationship right now and pat brisson and larkin are comfortable being like we want to move
on uh can you show them the picture yes you wanted to bring this up oh is that dylan larkin leaf fan
that's dylan larkin leaf fan from michigan supporting the toronto maple leaf somebody
leaf hat team usa jacket yeah somebody on twitter whose name is mccarty dangles yeah
so seems like a good time to remind you that our hometown captain isn't really a hometown
can't well he's welcome to come to toronto we'd love him here i'll tell you that wait wait wait
wait wait wait look okay so there's the three guys there's the orange hoodie yeah look to the
left of the orange hoodie that is a mike costco jersey hell yeah because that's 2014 isn't it
hell yeah brother that's at the big house and by the way that's hilarious also in attendance at
that game supporting the leafs all three hughes brothers that's right there are pictures of that
too well they they spent a lot of time in the gta they did yeah yeah so they're leaf fans so they're
all coming here uh but i i listen i'm just i'm i'm i'm sort of just throwing this out there as
it's kind of funny but dylan larkin and somebody immediately was like vegas and i was like god that
makes too much sense although they have so many centermen what cares mark stone's contract i
believe expires uh this season he's a new one so that's a lot of money coming off they can do it
I said this before, and I'll say it again.
Like, they could win the Cup this year,
and I think at the first sign of trouble,
they'll be happy to throw Mark Stone in the garbage.
Oh, yeah.
That's the Vegas Golden Knights, man.
That's what they do.
They'll throw him in the garbage like they never knew him.
Thanks for the memories.
Which part of the Larkin stuff do you want to start on?
Because there's the Detroit.
They've made the playoffs for 10 years.
Yep.
He made the playoffs in his rookie season.
Yep.
And then he hasn't been in the playoffs since.
Do you want to talk about, like, the mess that they're in now that they're going to lose their first line center?
Or is it more interesting, like, where he could land?
Well, let's talk about Detroit first.
Okay.
Let me ask you this.
If I'd asked you on Monday, and I think I have said this on the show, who in the Atlantic Division is not trying to win next year?
Not trying to make the playoffs?
Literally every team is trying to win.
Who in the Atlantic Division, if they miss the playoffs, where it isn't going to be a disaster?
All of them.
All of them.
I think Detroit's just changed.
because i don't think you're gonna get fair value back as we've seen i mean listen i want to say um
vancouver did pretty well on the quinn hughes thing i don't know if quinn even had did he
partial i don't even know if he had trade protection uh i all things considered i think
they did pretty well they did pretty well yeah but we were talking when we were saying hey matthews
might go neilander might go we know that you're gonna get a bunch of magic box things right and
you don't know you're not you don't know if you're going to get fair value back and chances are
you're just not now when austin matthews is at his best he's a generational goal scorer but we
haven't seen that for a couple of seasons dylan larkin has been dylan larkin for 10 years and
i think he's getting better i i do too he was great on the olympics and people see him as a
2c on a on an a on a stanley cup winning team i think that that tracks that makes sense to me
he is a little there's a little bit of matt duchesne from like a few years ago yeah where
i was like could he be your one c could it's probably best if he's not that's a really good
team with larkin as their team absolutely you know like that's that's a stanley and i think
does it not make him better to not have to log all the hard minutes because he does really well
against those opponents but imagine he doesn't have to play the top guys every night or doesn't
have to play them all the time like i look at him as if you know obviously the the best fit for him
is minnesota toronto's a fit too but they're in division so i don't think that's gonna happen
also in canada and there's something yeah i'm not wanting to play oh is there is there rumors
about that yeah okay everybody could use dylan yeah yeah i actually think of all the teams i'm
like well vegas and colorado probably don't need any more centers so they're okay he makes like
he makes for what he could provide a stanley cup winning team he makes like bang on what he should
be making what a second line center is going to make yeah an elite second line elite an elite
second line center game second line center and like okay is Larkin three million dollars better
than Christian Dvorak way better yeah right yeah everyone should be tripping over themselves to
trade this I think or trade for this if you're the Toronto Maple Leafs Jesse if that's true
and you know there's some stuff about him not wanting to play in Canada this is where you use
austin awesome we're gonna need you but straight up sales pitch no i'm kidding sales pitch because
that's a guy we're spending some assets on and i know that they got to fix the defense but we need
a second line center here eventually yeah and john i love john tavaris i like him at third line
center i like him on the wing i think you need a top three one through three in the centers like
you look at all the teams that are left they all have it yeah they all have great sentiment and
Yeah, I know Caroline.
I know Aja's been a little bit off or whatever.
He was great last night.
I think Aja hasn't been.
Yeah, that you're going to need
when somebody falters,
somebody else can pick it up.
And I just don't know that.
I don't know how Detroit can't do well on this.
It's just what's their timeline now, right?
We talk about the mess, Jesse.
I call Larkin Carlson Sisson.
Yeah, stupid or doubt or doubt.
Yeah, because that's the important thing.
it's how do you can do well because Larkin's a really good player and somebody's gonna pay for
that right but the teams that he's gonna want to go to are gonna be contenders and they're not
just gonna give you NHL assets for this player because they're trying to be good right now and
he has a full no trade so he gets to dictate where he wants to go so if you're Detroit you've missed
the playoffs you have the longest playoff drought in the entire league and now it looks like you
got to sell this for futures to get the best deal here how do you sell this if you're steve
eisenman being like we got to push our playoff streak even further because we're not going to
be as good next year because we're losing our first line center i think there's a path forward
here where you maybe maybe get to have your cake and eat it too and it's with minnesota strammel
strammel and you're off strammel and you're off have to be part of it and i think one of gus or
wall stat probably gus um oh that's interesting detroit has goalies like someone was like hey
detroit has too many goalies i'm like and they're buns that you need gustafson would immediately be
your best goalie yeah i've always said this but you're a john gibson hater you are john gibson
me yeah he was good the first three months you said this before about what's detroit
about how they have no goaltending and i thought john gibson was solid at the beginning of the
season they couldn't they were incapable of allowing a goal like between talbot and gibson
but i think you take one of the old guys send them back to minnesota you get gustafson in return
urov is an nhl ready piece that's going to get better as he ages you throw stromel in there
maybe a few picks there's something to work with there that allows detroit to get some
nhl pieces for next season but it's really difficult to imagine a world where they don't
take it back ideally the man you get is robert thomas if there's some way to route him like a
three-way arkin to somebody and then from st louis you're getting thomas because that's a younger
larkin that you're just inserting that same spot that he was and then you're kind of net even with
where your franchise is two teams two teams that could do that could facilitate that uh go look at
nashville and all the prospects and picks they have they have a lot of picks on another team
that might want to be a part of that three-way deal seattle you gotta they're gonna try to retain
bobby mcmahon they need some more scoring up front and i know we said larkin uh larkin would
be like a two c on a stanley cup winning team um uh seattle's a bunch of three c's uh they're
gonna need to score and a guy like that you should be ringing off the hook to get i mean jared mccann
looks a lot better playing behind Larkin no kidding right Steve's right that like every team
like we've listed like 16 like we're just going everybody should want Dylan Larkin yeah yeah
don't get an 8.7 million dollar center just on the market signed for five more seasons and I
you know I see I've seen some people say like oh he's 30 like 8.7 and like he's not playing like
a guy who's aging poorly also you're not dead at 30 connor david's 30 like oh i'm sorry but like
30 is the prime 30 is the prime yeah it's 28 to 32 these guys are well taken care of
guys who gives a shit about where dylan larkin is in three fucking years if you're trying to
win now oh but that contract might age yeah so might i i don't know eisenman's fighting for his
job now yeah oh yeah i can i can i say this he would never still be the gm if his name wasn't
do you think matthew darsh uh regrets spending the assets he spent on a guy like brayden shen
now that a guy like larkin's available because i think that's brayden shen five years ago is
what larkin is now i think he's such a good fit for the islanders though shen and he was pretty
good and andrews lee is going to hit the open market it looks like so they're they got a sort
of a hey why not both why not but well i mean yeah darsh is you know the islanders have the assets
well barzell's name's out there that's the other name i wanted to bring up apparently barzell's
name is out there in talks wow do you does that mollify the red wings fan base a little bit if
barzell and uh larkin are a part of the same i mean yeah it's not hard to sell someone on new
york city and in terms of futures there's ecklund there's acheson there's you could always trade
Matthew Schaefer you could you could doesn't get it done so no I'm kidding absolutely Larkin and
Schaefer um yeah do you think Steve Eisenman regrets trading a first round pick for Justin
Falk yes yes again he he would be fired I think would be long fired okay how old are Sider and
Raymond I can tell you in a moment 25 okay so they're not as young as you would want them to
because if you Raymond's 24 right now,
cider's 25.
So yeah,
if they were like 22,
23,
I could see a scenario where Detroit goes,
okay,
we'll take a step back for a couple of years.
Flip Falk,
flip Gibson,
you know,
they're called Detroit and,
and,
and not called Detroit,
call Edmonton,
rip them off for the goaltending thing.
Like try to try to do that.
Cause there's not a lot of free agents available.
Right.
And so can you,
Hey,
everybody in the division is trying to win right now.
Let's try to help them.
and let's help ourselves to all their picks and prospects but you're these guys are 24 25 which
means by the time you're good again they're 28 it's such bad news for detroit that this news got
out yeah because everyone like they were sort of interesting like oh casa might get traded might
get traded and teams need goalies everyone's going to be calling them with anvils yeah
anchors and anvils what do you need here's some garbage they're just going to be like because
they know the red wings are between a rock and a hard place yeah they're screwed how do you this
is bad man how do you explain to your boss so i'm into the owners of the red wings that i'm part of
the reason that the captain wants to leave that our relationship got so frosty that he wants to
leave plus we've been losing so much because i can't put a good team on the ice i think you
frame it as it's business and we try to do what was best for the detroit red wings
how does it i was wondering these negotiations how does it become so personal that you can't
come back from it like i remember back in the day when you people used to go to uh arbitration it
could it could sink a fucking relationship but now and alan talks about this on ap all the time
it's just a numbers thing like everybody goes well here's here's his range and we believe his
range is here and it's not he's a bad person and smokes cigarettes and hates children what which
is what they used to do they used to like they used to like tear the player's character apart
it's terrible um because they didn't have the numbers to support what they're talking that's
right we have goals assistant plus minus i don't like them and i don't want to spend the money
i don't know if it's your let's make him an offer it is uh it's judge judy it is yeah
that would be great um interesting too on the minnesota part of this is it just came out that
marcus johansson is going to sign with fargastad in sweden oh he had 49 points this year what so
he is going home i'm surprised me too very surprised and so uh minnesota is going to
need some help in the top six he was very good for them up and down the lineup
uh 49 points and he's bailing yeah good for him i mean yeah good for he's had a very long and
illustrious career but i'm very surprised by that yeah i think wild fans are ready for him to be
on, but I actually thought he was pretty good. If you're Bill Guerin, you got to be the first
guy on the phone to Steve Eisenman for Larkin. Well, this is exactly what you need to push you
over the hill there. The rumor was that they wanted to get the Trocek deal done, obviously,
before the deadline. The wild did. They New York was asking the sun and the moon. Does this
negatively affect Vinny Trocek's stock? Because I would put Larkin above Trocek and I love Trocek.
oh i mean he's younger uh he's locked up for longer and he's better yeah he's just straight
up better so that the two first round picks that the rangers were supposedly asking for vinny
trocek two two first rounders or one prospect one pick um i don't know that i mean we'll see
what larkin gets well if larkin gets moved before trocek then trocek's stock goes back up again
and i thought i read on twitter like um rangers are like oh maybe we'll just keep them
like all right this is why when the leafs hired sundin everyone's like oh please don't make me
hate him yeah because like those are two i mean eisenman's a better red wing than drury was a
ranger but drury was a very good ranger and those are two teams worth for the love of god move on
yeah it's bad yep yep i understand i understand red wings fans frustration they're going through
it i think it's misguided to throw it larkin's way um but i still get it i still get it uh
believe like listen it's not an apples to apples comparison but we've we've had some pretty angry
times in leaf land recently yep but the guy i was trying to look up like movies from the last time
dylan larkin was in the playoffs give it to me uh batman versus superman dawn of justice oh my god
was number two uh the jungle book i don't remember which one that was the that was the live action
one of them dude zootopia came out the original the first one zootopia was in theaters yep
and then i'm just like oh boy april 2016 was not a good time for movies i don't know a lot of these
yeah remember that couple years ago they went to camp with seven goalies
seven nhl signed goalies yeah like i'm sorry you can't tell me it's well run it's not and that's
why i'm so hard on the wings every year and and whenever wings fans get on a roll they're like
see we fucking told you what's happening i'm like guys it's been a decade you got nothing to tell me
now how many marches are you going to explode and i think but even i believed i was like oh
it's real this time that's what i felt too and they were one of the worst teams in the nhl for
the final like and larkin got hurt came back probably played hurt wasn't that good but when
larkin went down that's when the team went down he's the team does go as he goes but maybe too
much is put on him well certainly yeah and the rest of the team's not and i think you know when
they when they tried to find him help it was their answer was jt confer yeah right and and like you
bought so high on that player too confer was great in that cup run for colorado and he hasn't returned
to form it's it's like chandler stevenson in seattle when do you ever hear about yeah when
was the last time we even discussed chandler stevenson well seattle and no offense to kraken
fans i think you guys know this um they've been irrelevant and uh that's completely at ron
francis's feet carolina got good when ron francis left i'm not really sure why seattle felt like we
have to have this guy yeah i don't get it man uh so you know all that said i feel for detroit red
wings fans yeah i don't know how you i don't this is the thing now even if you're stevie eisman how
do you go to the illage family and go we're gonna be all right because your name is steve eiserman
i mean do you wait for do you do you retool this thing and hope that you can have a quick
turnaround like the habs habs did although the habs tore it right down they did keep some veterans
around and then hope that by the time say you know the habs had suzuki the last time they went
to the finals and he was very young and you know he's still there and he's the captain do you just
say to lucas raymond and maurit side or listen we gotta we gotta move some veterans out we gotta
to clean this up their draft record hasn't been great it's okay uh you know you gotta put imagine
they'd hit on philip zadina right like that's a major thing that didn't happen for them too
you gotta you gotta get him to put his pride aside and kick him upstairs yeah because i don't
think you can fire steve but steve the the gm carousels is like almost done who's there left
to hire like i didn't i mean i sort of felt this way but i was like ah they're maybe getting it on
track we'll see how they do next year but larkin asking out i'm like oh my god you know what watch
this so they're gonna trade larkin and they're gonna become like the islanders next year where
they're just gonna surprise everybody and i was that's just thinking they're gonna find
the next valtteri philpilla yeah except not on you on the islanders and somehow uh replacing
phil or tavaris with philpilla yeah we've gone from a basement dweller to a playoff that's what's
gonna happen i think there's a chance that you look at edvinson cider casper finney uh raymond
uh sanding i'm gonna scribble his lane pelica sandy pelica pelica and like that's a good
collection of like six really young talented guys trey augustine and like there's there's a chance
all of those guys surprise and become something special and that there's a really good young
core in detroit yeah you know and that they're just oh wait branson nygaard too could you you
know another team that i think would be really interesting even though i don't know how much
help they need up at forward san jose that would be imagine you got celebrini celebrini larkin
celebrini larkin i need somebody i think that'd be awesome i think it'd be great yeah so san jose
should be in on all of these guys like i thought they should have been in on quinn hughes i think
they should be in on larkin i think they're at the point where just go get the next everybody
available i was listening to the cj show and he goes no top it was either top five or top three
pick has been traded since like 2003 and i was like oh wish you hadn't said that life was life
was a little bit more fun and whimsical before i heard you say that anything happening with the
top five i there's just so much going on and sharks so don't need this pick and uh the cap
is exploding give me a fun and whimsical and silly and ridiculous and explosive offseason
they're gonna need do it they're gonna need some defense though who the sharks the sharks are
gonna give up that second round pick or second overall pick they gotta get they'll be able to
get it for the second overall pick yeah warrenski straight up stanberg warrenski i think we were
on to something with our warrenski first overall pick then because both sides hated it would you
give up misa i think they have to look at that you know misa and the second what are you getting
in return warrenski no you're not getting the current norse trophy winner you're not getting
just for larkin you're oh you don't think you gotta get more than that i think i think you
get more than that you have to give up more than me you gotta get a pick back or something right
oh okay which side are you saying which team are we talking yeah so if you're if you're saying jose
i feel like you got to get the 14th overall pick don't you sure okay is that enough isn't that from
the blues uh is it i don't know i thought it was columbus i don't know i think i want to see the
blues have four i forget what their picks are yeah columbus has their first round pick it's
14th overall oh my bad what does blues have uh the blues have two picks uh detroit yes they have
detroit yeah they have detroit that was the one i thought they gave up actually they have three
first round oh good for them they have their own they have colorados and they have detroit wow
where are they oh i or do we 11 24 and 31 okay the blues are not trading for dylan market i'm
I'm going to hammer this.
I'm going to hammer this.
Sorry, 11, 15, and 29.
My bad.
11, 15, and 29.
I'm going to hammer this.
I'm going to hammer this.
I'm going to hammer this.
And get ready for it, boys,
because we're going to stream five hours,
and I'm going to hammer it until it happens.
And if it doesn't happen,
I'm going to fill my diaper about it.
The Ruck Twins on the Medicine Hat Tigers,
they're projected to go mid to late first round.
Someone needs to draft the both of them.
And it's lying right there for the Blues.
I feel like Dubas is going to do it.
Dubas is the only fun GM.
Someone has to do it.
It's a pair of twins going in the first round.
What are we even talking about?
I know.
What are we even talking about?
You got to get two picks and make it happen.
What are we even talking about?
Can you do my trade proposal?
What was it?
San Jose trades Misa in the second overall pick.
Good Lord.
To the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Wierenski in the 14th overall.
So that is essentially two second overall picks.
what are you what are you saying wow
what does columbus want to do oh what do they want to win next year if they want to win next
year they can't do that no there's no way i don't and i think they do want to win next year
what are they going to rebuild again
oh my god if i'm saying it's a boat the mystery box could be anything it could even be a boat
i don't know i think you you then you have fantilly misa as your top two guys you don't
have wierenski this isn't a play for this season the sharks could also just be incredibly greedy
and be like okay so we're gonna go celebrini will smith ecklund misa stenberg
shut up you can get 20 it sounds like you guys are saying no from columbus aside i think i i
i i think columbus wants to win yeah and i and he said how and i'm like well you would have said
that about philadelphia last year i think columbus is yes i'm not sure san jose does
oh you think columbus would trade warwinski interesting yes if they don't think they can
keep them which i think is getting it's getting louder isn't it it's the trumpets but the time
takes isn't it the saxophone same thing
sorry i'm chronically online um
okay larkin is like what are we doing here i've been here forever right
could warrensky not be justified saying something pretty similar yeah and he's better but he hasn't
said it he's better he won the norris uh larkin has not won an equivalent for forwards you know
Norris or sorry Larkin is
Wierenski is a top the top
three it's Quinn Hughes
kill McCarran Zach
Wierenski top one this
year yeah right yeah and
yet I'm saying San Jose
says says no I think my
hesitation probably
indicates this is a
somewhat decent deal it's
just what are both teams
trying to accomplish
Zach Wierenski also
American something about
American players wanting
out of the markets
Kachuk Hughes Larkin
wierenski well they have a long track record of running their players out of town that's right
the american media we need to talk about it we gotta why is it running all these players out
of america it's funny to other states in the management run their players out of town
no adam go with the bit sorry go with the bit i know i get why red wings fans are pissed here
but i also i think when you have time to cool down you'll understand why you shouldn't be
the guy you're pissed at is not dylan larkin ah you know what i understand having more than
enough anger for everyone okay i understand and yeah i get it sympathize you got enough
anger to spread around yeah yeah hey steve no be mad at this or that i can do both oh yeah don't
worry don't worry i'll order the uh an appetizer with my entree relax listen it's summertime maybe
you're looking at your clothes and they're looking a little beat up maybe you're needing a bit of a

jesse can we bring up the chicago blackhawks for a sec like their puck media yeah okay the
blackhawks yeah i want to talk about the blackhawks do they draft the ruck twins uh well
kyle davidson apparently wants a veteran defenseman oh and they're both forwards he's got
a lot of calls about teams interested in acquiring the fourth pick i would also put that out there if
i was kyle davidson kind of need to right yeah they don't need to draft this i would you not
agree first off they've got they've they're not close with bedard yet in terms of where they're
going to get and i've got news for kyle davidson whatever conor bedard wants is what he's going to
get you have no negotiating power here you have no cards um and if i have chicago's a bad situation
if i was a team with four first overall picks i would offer sheet them or for not first for
four first overall picks but for first rounders why would you not offer sheet connor bedard
when you could draft four drafts in a row and not get connor bedard look at the early 2010
oilers and if you had the first overall pick how many times chicago i think you have to match it
no matter what you do because like would you trade conor bedard for four 24th overall picks
no absolutely you might get four easton cowens but you're not getting a conor bedard yeah right
and that's so what i'm interested in jesse can we bring them up just for a fun thing let's have a
look at this because good god where do they go so uh i forgot frank nezar had that contract
extension signed too that's a pretty good deal well he's got to live up to it he was good for
the first month and then he got hurt well here's the good news they can spend on absolutely
everybody if i'm conor bedard i look at this and i go i deserve 20 million dollars yeah frank
nazar is their highest paid forward he's higher ryan ellis is their highest paid defenseman frank
nazar is their highest paid player steve good move there's he's their highest paid player
that's what a spencer might make he makes 5.8 oh which is a good deal it is a good deal he was
great last year it is a good deal um arvid soderblom at 275 is interesting but what's
their cap space i gotta know mother of pearl 40 million 40.1 million dollars holy shit yeah uh
i'm gonna go out on a limb and say we're not talking nearly enough about the chicago blackhawk
that's why i want that's insane but what are they gonna do they've got one of whatever the
fuck they want well hold on the fourth overall pick at 40 million dollars are they capable of
that uh we're about to find out what hey kyle if you can't find a way to spend that money you can
always call me other than goaltending other than goaltending what isn't a hole in this lineup uh
everything everything is so what do you start with apparently they want to like they were
interested in matthew nice evidently so there are well everyone should be interested in matthew nice
but there's there's a few reasons to be optimistic for the blackhawks but unfortunately a lot of them
are mystery box right so uh artem levshunov you hope he takes a step uh can you scroll up a bit
frondell came over late in the season he was good and i don't remember his full name you might be
under extra forwards uh can't sarov uh who was playing in russia has apparently roman cancer of
he's apparently left his khl team and he's gone in elc with the blackhawks he's going to join
them next year and he could be a big piece for them okay i really like merrick van acker
they got they got guys but you have that money i know you're gonna have to pay some of these guys
but you gotta spend it you gotta spend it in free agency even if they're on deals that end up kind
of sucking i feel like a mason marchman chicago makes a lot of sense give them seven mil i'm not
even kidding who cares like i'm not even kidding um name a player name it no name a player uh who's
a free agent yeah name him player i don't even know who's a free agent anymore man name any
player well for a dollar pick a woman i name a woman jesse can you pick it out jesse name a free
agent name a free agent a free agent i don't name a free agent i don't even know i don't even know
they're all gone adam name a free agent right now we're i'm gonna hold the show hostage until you
name a fucking free agent right now okay the bit i was planning on doing that grizzly it's up seven
million dollars no he's one of theirs god damn it adam what the what i was gonna do with that bit
is freaking bobby mcmahon seven million dollars and i was gonna cut you off bobby's a free agent
right i think they should be in on every trade they should be in on every scott lawton if he
makes it to free agency seven million dollars who cares seven million dollars doesn't matter
they have 40.1 million dollars in cap space does brennan gallagher make seven
you gotta still be careful with the money here no i know i know it's there are limits to my bit
there are limits to my bit but you understand what i'm saying yeah they honestly so scott wheeler
sort of uh talked about this in an interview i saw not with us the sharks have fewer prospects
than the blackhawks do but they're better yeah the blackhawks i think could be justified and
it's going to weird some people out if they were to do it but the blackhawks can be justified in
trading some of their future for now because you need to be better now i know you're young i know
you know you got you got to win you got to start winning you got to you need to start winning you
got to be better now some of those like b-tier prospects or guys who you don't think are
necessarily going to end up being obviously bedard frendell kinserov levshinov um yeah i think you
got to start moving off because they're not all going to bloody make it and if they do make it
they're not all going to make it on your team move some of these guys and be relevant now well i
wonder too uh if um nashville and chicago make some sense because remember um as much as chicago's
in a tough division at the top the those wild card spots they have a real opportunity like
i don't see la getting all that much better i don't see any nashville getting all that much
better i will see what chris mcfarland does i don't know but all the teams that were in that
glut of the wild card that made it like i don't know man i i feel like you got a good opportunity
for chicago to just jump right into the playoffs in terms of draft uh in terms of draft picks
prospects cap space like you mentioned oh larkin wants out and barzal is apparently up for grabs
go get both of them like yeah you you could obviously that's going to be incredibly difficult
would be insane you go barthol is your third line center go full video game about it right
i'm not actually saying that's what's going to happen or that's even something they should try
to do but they should try to be extremely aggressive extremely aggressive yes that's a
good word that's a good word aggressive they need to go into this offseason like it friggin matters
you you gotta uh trade some of these young guys a few of those trades might hurt be relevant for
the love of god like and you'll survive you have the young pieces that you'll be like ah you know
what we'll be okay what do you think a fourth overall pick's worth guys what could you get for
that honestly i mean that's it's a good draft but scott wheeler was on our show a couple weeks ago
and he said some of these guys
are going to be two, three years away.
So a team that needs that.
Larkin?
Well, that's an interesting,
I mean, yeah, Larkin makes it,
does Trocek make sense?
I don't think, I think.
No, Trocek's not enough.
Detroit needs to get.
Detroit needs to get pieces
that help them be better next year.
So many teams do,
but if I was Detroit,
go for the market inefficiency.
You've got, Jesse outlined
all the great young players they have that could take a step forward next year if everybody's going
for the win let them have it let them let your young players come in steal the assets from the
desperate teams like the leafs like montreal is going to need to go get a center let's let's just
be honest about that they're gonna have to pay through the nose for it and i new jersey's got
to sort themselves out they have to win there's a lot who's not trying to win i was just gonna
asked that who league wide isn't trying and so if you can take advantage of that and be the one team
that is doing a little bit of a retool go collect some assets you don't even have to use them you
could just trade them i think chicago's a fascinating team for the blackhawks the last
four consecutive seasons they finished 31st in the standings every single year last four years
they've been second last in the league god and i think enough is enough because you see the teams
that are below them or just around them when you go through the standings over the last four years
and you see teams like the ducks you'd see see teams like the sharks and they've all taken kind
of steps and you're a lot happier about where those franchises are and i think it'd be nice
just to see i don't think they should be contending for a playoff spot next year but i think they
should have a good bad season where it's like the sharks yeah like a hundred percent like how the
sharks did a good bad season where it's like oh my goodness badard had a almost heart trophy level
season but they still lost a bunch of games we're talking about the sharks trying to get warrensky
yeah exactly yeah i don't i don't think we should be looking at the black house going out and adding
a bunch of pieces it's about the young guys looking really good next year and you're finishing
like not 31st and maybe 22nd you know that's what i'm progress for the love i'm trying to
get out of the blackhawks here for next season can you can you look up how many players on the
blackhawks uh that played at least the game were 23 and under because this is this is what i'm
trying to emphasize with you can afford to lose some of these guys in in order to get better
now right now and i'm not i'm not talking about for bums i'm talking about get guys who can play
in your top six guys who can play in your top four that's what i'm talking about because they
they're an extremely young team you want 23 and under 23 and under 13 13 wow yeah who are they
uh frondell great i'm gonna mess up sasha's last name boy there boy there yeah thank you
Lev Shanoff, Lardis, Bedard, Renzel, Moore, Kuczynski, Nazar, Green, Slaggart, Kaiser,
Del Maestro is the last one.
Like the majority of those guys are going to have good careers, good careers in the
NHL.
Yep.
You can afford to trade some of these guys and like add to that Kancerov.
You can afford to trade some of these guys.
Yeah.
Some of the guys you just mentioned, some of the guys you haven't mentioned, some of
the picks add for the what do you have all that cap space for are they even at the floor
they they need to be relevant they and adam i think that's the word aggressive yeah by the way
anton frondell born in 2007 oh i hate it that's the year i started interning in radio he's got
three nhl goals dude someone sent me a video of mine from the first season of lfr and i'm like
why are you sending me this and they're like oh this is the lfr you made the day gavin mckenna
was born oh my god wow wow so that hurt across canada in a volvo destination vancouver turn left

versus surviving the summer? This is the, this is the question. So here's the thing,
summer plans, maybe, you know, we all get excited about summer, but sometimes a lot of summer is,
uh, it's just overwhelming, right? Cause the amount of plans kind of picks up tenfold.
You ever feel the pressure to enjoy yourself? Yes, exactly. I need to be enjoying myself.
Do you ever, are you ever at a family get together and you're like, I need to go to
the bathroom for five minutes, just to calm down. There's just so much happening right now.
I get a little overwhelmed.
No, it just sort of happens.

By the way, the Leafs have not had dinner with Gavin McKenna, but don't worry.
They went on a date earlier.
John Shaka flew up to his home and they were able to connect there.
So McKenna going out for dinner with the Canucks and the Sharks and stuff like that.
Don't worry.
Okay.
Stay away from her.
Good job.
i uh shayka just spoke to the media by the way at the draft combine and they asked him about the
trip the the coaching thing and he said listen it's the next leader of the toronto maple east
we need to take our time and i now when we started when we did the show on monday we talked about
la vie latin wa have you guys changed your mind on either of those people no or do you think it's
what nick kiprios put out there which is this is a smoke screen you know how i know it's a smoke
screen it came out and we all went died down and we have not heard of it really it just it came and
it went died on the phone i don't think it was real okay well they interviewed them dallas eakins
is a name that came up too they interviewed him that that one i actually believe well they
interviewed juan laviolette you can believe that that did happen yeah yeah but like i believe him
as an actual candidate okay why because when the last time he coached it didn't go well in anaheim
bad team Eakins I feel like speaks Chayka's language Chayka's sorry old habits die hard
I feel like speaks Chayka's language um and they're both
I'm just gonna say it and I like Dallas as a guy but I think they're both odd ducks
they're both odd ducks and not odd ducks in the way you would never describe Patrick
was an odd duck no you describe him as a scary man right yeah eakins is an odd duck and i can
see him and chica getting along famously okay yeah i like that yeah it's hard to describe
jesse any thoughts from you any any changes in that or do you agree with steve it's kind of
just uh you know john chica chica chica damn it i know it's frustrating john chica spoke to 55
people for the head coach job
at the Toronto Maple Leafs. He has? Yes.
Actually, 55? 55.
Who said that? That's what he said
today to reporters. I'm kind of
pissed I'm not on that list. That's a big
enough list that we should all be on it. I think Steve
Dangle should have been on that list. I agree. Jesse Blake
100%. Stanley Cup winning GM. No, I don't
want to interview your head coach.
I want to interview for GM.
Thank you. Oh, right. Yes.
When you interview
that many people,
there's a, I don't know,
because who knows who they're going to come out of that with.
Patrick was just one of 55.
Who knows how serious that is?
I don't think anybody knows how serious that is
because I don't know if Chica knows how serious it is
at this point in the process.
It's the same thing when they're looking for the GM.
You know, they interviewed a lot of people
and eventually they landed on a name.
Remember, so many times we're like,
oh, this is going to be the guy.
This is going to be the guy.
It's the same process here.
I'm very happy.
And it feels like they're passing every simple test
that they can do so far in in this capacity sundin and chica are and that like firing berube was
an easy one you got the free square on the bingo card and now it's like cast a very wide net for
your head coach and that's what they're doing how many people did chica interview for head coach
double fives 55 55 it's just a shame he's so ostracized within hockey no one wants to talk
to him nobody wanted to talk to him it's just a shame no one wants to talk to him no one wants
the coach here yeah yeah yeah who would want that job yeah who would want that job yeah 55 people
well that's why the same thing when people say well this will affect Vegas's ability to hire
people the way they're treating Cassidy no it won't no it won't there's 32 jobs yeah uh anybody
who gets that phone call is going to want that job and it wasn't that he interviewed 55 he
couched it as like 55 people in any capacity I talked to about this position which is great
hey it seems like he's doing his due diligence i kind of i kind of like that a lot more than hey
we just interviewed mark bergevin and brad for living yeah my friends i called three of my
friends sorry i called one of my friends yeah look do you remember when columbus hired mike
babcock and at their press conference they were like yeah we talked to all of mike's friends and
they all recommended him and it's like and we talked to ken hitchcock yeah ken hitchcock with
blah blah blah yeah like aren't mike and ken hitchcock fucking neighbors like are you like
get out of here well i talked to gary glenn and he really recommended this guy steve yeah
my dad will talk to like the cashier at a store and be like my son is a youtube channel like in
front of me and i'm like holy shit i have to run 38 years old dad please 38 year old man by the way
yeah uh love you gare anyway what do you want well i don't know i was kind of i was kind of
going to wrap it there i mean unless you guys have anything else you unless you have some hot
takes on uh on uh john cooper winning the coach what we already said we already talked about that
like i'm looking at this there's nothing on brayden mcnabb i was kind of hoping that we'd
get something before the end of the show nothing released on that so we don't know if he's going
to play game three uh obviously marcus johansson the report that he's gone like i don't know what
else there is to go with but i do think we're at we're at the quiet zone and the more this series
carries on the more we're going to start to hear like people are holding off waiting waiting waiting
trades can happen but i think as soon as this series is game five game six we're going to start
to see real shit you know when we're all going to get weird and the online discourse is going to get
weird give it to me those two day breaks we haven't had one of those when are we having those
between game three and four is our first two day break of the stanley cup final so you don't have
is that a it's a it's a friday and monday they play tomorrow so what's uh tomorrow saturday and
then they don't play sunday they don't play monday they play tuesday that will get weird
it's gonna get too quiet for some people and they're gonna fill the void
but they already used the patrick waugh bullet i know you know well we got other ones there's
other bullets oh there's other yeah let's get nuts anyway we'll leave it there um but someone's
gonna say babcock well michael babcock was hired as a coach today but not mike babcock there is a
michael babcock hired by brandford in the ohl and yes he has red hair of course i'm happy he goes by
michael it's probably a conscious decision i think it is branding thing
