Starting point is 00:01:56 All right, let's just get it out of the way. That was the best goal he's ever scored. Yo, that was straight up disgusting. But just filth. Just filth. I know everybody's waiting. Here it is. It was unbelievable.
Starting point is 00:02:06 And I was shocked and awed. And although, you know what? Not totally shocked with the skill set he has. It's, you know, I think it kind of makes a lot of sense that Dorofaev would get a couple of goals last night. Oh, 100%. You know, like he's got that shot. He does.
Starting point is 00:02:21 It's just so crazy. No, I'm kidding. Best goal scorer on the Vegas Golden State. Mitch Marner ended the game in the first period. Ended the game in the first period. First goal a minute in. In game six. In game six.
Starting point is 00:02:31 How about that? And then, so first goal he gets. Second goal is on the PK, and he sets up Brett Howden. And again, terrible Ducks defensive zone coverage on their own power play and that. So he has four shorthanded points? Was that the stat I saw? No, there was a stat where at one point, uh the vegas golden knights had as many power play goals sorry penalty kill goals for as they
Starting point is 00:02:55 had allowed oh my god so they were even but i think the ducks scored on the power play a little later so it's like five four but even so the the here's the thing man i i want to be straight about this i know it's colorado and vegas in the in the western conference final everybody's going to take colorado and uh we're gonna get to colorado fans yet in a segment i like to call but um i i uh But I want to warn people, if you're making predictions and bets and stuff, maybe Colorado wins the series, but Vegas is a heck of a lot better than the Vegas that fired Bruce Cassidy, and they're a heck of a lot better than the Vegas that played Utah.
Starting point is 00:03:32 They are very, very, very good. Steve is right, by the way. Mitch Marner does have four shorthanded points. Wow. And Brett Howden has three shorthanded goals, which is a single postseason record. Wow. For anyone?
Starting point is 00:03:46 For anybody. He's tied the record, so he needs one more goal shorthanded to own the all-time record, which feels shocking. You know what? It's goofy shit like that where you go, uh-oh, that's a team that could win it all. Marner has as many shorthanded points in these playoffs as he had in five out of the nine playoff runs he had with the Leafs.
Starting point is 00:04:10 Wow. I'm going to say that again. Mitch Marner has four shorthanded points in these playoffs. He had as many or fewer total points in five out of the nine playoff runs he had as a Leaf. That is why people were upset with Toronto Maple Leaf Mitch Marner, and that is why we are heaping praise on Vegas Golden Knight Mitch Marner. Seems to be a better fit.
Starting point is 00:04:37 mitch marner exists within the context of the vegas golden knights the team that he plays for and they're great yep they're great and you know what they did it all with mark without mark stone to the last couple of games too so it's yeah it's i i would do want to say underestimate william carlson's impact on a lineup at your own peril no wonder you know i think again i said it last show i think william carlson uh being injured got bruce cassidy fired um that's usually how it works right yeah well it's usually a goalie actually like you think about todd richards and bobrovsky with that was the one it was and wasn't it todd richards got fired and then torts came in that's crazy yeah and bob was garbage yeah and then he was garbage it's phenomenal yeah if you
Starting point is 00:05:18 go back and look but circuit but it might have been the worst stretch of his entire career yeah and it was like nine games and it was like it was like this year ironically with the columbus blue jackets where both their goalies went oh and just started stopping the puck uh jesse should we show that i've got i've got the link there should we show the mitch marner goal do we should we show a screen grab of it sure we can there's there's mitch marner on the points leader yeah there it is playoffs right now he's gonna win 18 points in 12 games leads all skaters second place is his teammate jack eichel with 15 points in 12 games man krill is tied with them also at 15 and quinn he was is he not tied for the lead in playoff goals too marner yes he is we'll click that you
Starting point is 00:06:01 can show that we'll click this uh no he's not oh dorfeev's uh dorfeev's got nine so he's basically the guys he passes to literally howden's got eight goals uh nathan mckinnon's got seven marner's got seven bold he's phenomenal stankoven's got seven what do you say it's phenomenal if the canes weren't so good maybe uh stankoven be a little higher but they're too good to be on this list that's true so there you go your point pretty funny although martyrs points per game is still the highest in the playoffs is it not yeah can you can you show that yeah points per game yeah oh it's actually carter yakum who has two points in one game and leon dry sidle uh actually the 10 points in six games 1.67 that's man points per game 10 points in six games and they didn't win
Starting point is 00:06:45 he's leon they didn't even win three duchesne 1.5 points per game through six games minus four yeah the dallas stars that is what they were yeah amazing so taylor hall's got one point of the people left taylor hall's got 1.5 and marner's got 1.5 and then mckinnon's got one four less games um taylor hall fewer four fewer because they're better yeah that's true they are i mean they have gotten through better now did they have the easier road jesse than the vegas golden knights i would argue they did um i would say that philadelphia is a much easier opponent than anaheim much easier oh after the series i saw i'm not sure did you only watch last night no anaheim dominated three of those four of those six games five on five but the puck in the net
Starting point is 00:07:34 yeah but that doesn't mean that they're not they're not way better than philadelphia they're way better than philadelphia what are we talking about here okay okay my god well Well, maybe they can fight it out. That'd be great. Hey, you're a billionaire. Let's have them play a series. Orange v. Orange. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:52 You know what? That would be good. Let's get them together. Let's do a super series. The Cutter-Gocce Bowl. Winner gets them. Goche-Zegers Bowl. By the way, I wonder if Cutter-Gocce had to shake hands with Torts in the lineup last night.
Starting point is 00:08:05 I think he did. No, he didn't. Torts did not go to the lineup. Torts didn't go to the lineup. No, he didn't do the shake hands. And then he didn't allow reporters into the room. Yeah, so he left early. He didn't do the handshake line,
Starting point is 00:08:16 and then he didn't do a media veil afterwards, and they only had the two players at the podium. I don't know if we do want to get into all that, or do you want to spend a little more time? Let's do some more. Let's do some more. Yeah, that's a whole conversation. Deserves his flower.
Starting point is 00:08:27 Because they're breaking CBA rules, and we can talk about that. Yeah, here's Marner on his breakaway goal. I assume everybody's seen it by now. It's Jackson McComb. But we'll show it. It's Jackson McComb. And he gets Dostal to commit so hard.
Starting point is 00:08:39 There's three Olympians in the screenshot. Yeah. Yeah, and look at this. this is just how the creativity here is unbelievable okay it does need to be said where is dostal going where's the comb he faked him out he no i know it's but there's also no net where marner faked to and dostal is like better protect it he he bit where's the comb going unbelievably hard question you're you're yeah he bit hard because marner so strong where's the going where's the comb going well marner stopped up like backwards this is all just a really
Starting point is 00:09:14 impressive play this is all stuff we've always known he could do yeah always that was the frustrating part yep and it was and it looks great and that is the i won't lie to you that's a little frustrating i wish but i wish him the best my whole heart that this happened in a toronto maple leafs uniform oh god yeah that would have been so no if it did i'd still be critical no no he could have 20 goals in 10 games i'd stupid like oh oh gosh darn i this is the this is our life this is our life where the ducks got clowned last night the ducks got clowned and everyone went yeah yeah yeah yeah at a team thousands of miles away to be fair and you said this in a group chat last night and you're right the ducks ought to be arrested for that they should
Starting point is 00:10:12 be in prison all of them yeah for sure like i know you're mad at the ducks this morning you're mad they could have won this series man they really could have but they just that that no they let's talk about yo you want to talk about leafiness they did not come to play last night at all that is the worst game i think i've ever seen them play in this era because i've seen them play some horrible games the last few years but this this playoff run that's the most important game of the run and they were not there they were not present they were awful and i know they got a lot to be proud of but you need to learn to rise in big games like that and you could really see the pedigree of the vegas golden knights versus that but adam surely they've lost by larger margins
Starting point is 00:10:54 than that could your opinion have to do with the context of the weight of that game yes ah well i choose to just not understand that no you be a dick about it no you understand it you just uh you're on you're on uh espn and tnt and and on twitter and you need clicks man it's all good listen i i listen i i've accepted that we're gonna eat shit on the marner thing and i'm okay with it i i it's okay we have another month of it i know what happened i know what happened in toronto and i know what's happening in vegas and uh mitch marner vegas golden night is performing well no one will allow him to be mitch marner vegas golden night yeah one day he'll be also can i just say this not today
Starting point is 00:11:40 Mitch needs to be like Taylor Swift and be like I would like to be excluded from this narrative he is not bringing this up he didn't bring it up with torts he didn't bring it up with that reporter he's not Kevin Weeks he's not that really boring play-by-play guy on ESPN who's like I hate my life
Starting point is 00:11:57 I wish I was doing any other sport right now he's not on TNT like I know Biz was doing laps in the studio to make up for the fact that he said Marner wouldn't produce on the playoffs like I respect that Biz is eating shit right I get that but like i i i feel like everybody's pulling mitch into this forget pulling us into this and so i just want to say mitch is trying to move on man and i would like to move on we both like to
Starting point is 00:12:23 move on let's move on and compliment what was an amazing play in in vegas sorry in anaheim actually in anaheim this has been the cycle for literally a month mitch has a good game the good game gets discussed yeah people point and laugh and they go ha ha we address it we post a clip and people go i'll leave it alone well maybe we should stop posting clips we got we have a choice but if we don't talk about them then we're assholes yeah well we do we have and we are and we are all we're doing today is saying hey congrats man i'm what a fucking that's one of the craziest goals i've ever seen yeah it's one of the craziest goals i've ever seen i i i honestly like i always wait especially in this vegas anaheim series i was always waiting for them to like feel each other
Starting point is 00:13:09 out for the first five minutes i'd be i think i basically barely put my headphones on for the stream and he does that and i was like oh like what do you say oh it was crazy it took me five minutes to process as i was logging off to throw to your stream someone put in the comments marner scored and i thought they were kidding ah i click on nhl.com i'm like all right you know it was great though you had all the people on your stream and they were waiting to join my stream the game had already started so my stream did not have a lot of numbers uh on it yet because you had not passed off the montreal buffalo series so a lot of people did not see that live and even though they were chant i was like i was like you guys weren't here you guys weren't here don't act like
Starting point is 00:13:50 you were in the moment you were not in the moment now jesse jesse yes jesse is it possible jesse Is it possible that the whole world has underestimated the Vegas Golden Knights or or they played a young upstart Utah team that did some great work this year? They played a young upstart Ducks team that did some great work this year. And perhaps the level of like the Avs played a harder team in the wild. I think we can all agree on that, right? Yeah, people are going to going to say, well, yeah, but that's I saw Vegas for 70 games this year. i know what they are what vegas do you think shows up in the western conference final against the colorado avalanche i think there's three things going on one you can't deny the torts
Starting point is 00:14:39 effect in that he's whipped the boys into shape yeah bruce cassidy left and clearly they fired him for a reason in that the locker room wasn't to the standard that they expect the golden knights to be torts has come in there the guys clearly really love him and he has them play in a really tight form of hockey that's one of the biggest factors but something that when we were yelling and screaming about mitch marner playing center for them for so long was the real big reason that he played center and probably the most important x factor of their team is william carlson's back they didn't play hockey since november and then now they have them and it's really stabilized their offense and it looks fantastic and then the third thing is carter hart has found his game he's
Starting point is 00:15:22 amazing he's been playing really well and he has been for a little bit at the end of the regular season he had a stretch like i don't know five ish games there those starts there he was he was pretty good he was a little shaky in that in the first round against utah there was that there's that one game that was a little ugly but other than that he was solid in that and in this series there's no complaints i don't even know about a single goal i'm like really saying that he he let in that's gonna cost them the game or anything like that he's been solid all series long and they win it um large part because he's been great so they're humming at a level that they didn't play all regular season long this is a different team and they're peaking at the right moment
Starting point is 00:16:01 and there's not a lot to complain about just their on ice product right now it's really good right right and so uh the other side of that is um you got a young team in the ducks who got to feel proud about their season yeah it ended poorly and okay so if you're the ducks right now what do you take away from that well you can hang you can hang we know that you can hang man you're not there yet which is pretty much what all of us expected um they can't keep the puck out of their net holy lord holy lord above us uh creating the sky and rainbows like holy cow yeah they couldn't against edmonton either but nobody can against edmonton no it's always gonna score and um i think lucas dosal is a great goalie and i think he's got a great future i think we maybe overdid
Starting point is 00:16:54 it you can't be happy with his performance no i think we overdid it um he yeah you can't you can't call him good at best you could call him adequate uh with with the numbers uh that he had um bit undisciplined um but the future's bright yeah future's bright like guys like um rangers fans i saw were lapping it up because they've been eating shit all year about truba on truba and crider crider specifically on the duck subreddit they were like get this human being off my hockey team yeah he didn't have he kind of disappeared and don't give me while he's hurt it's chris crider he's always hurt yep i thought truba was actually good so i don't think i don't it wasn't so much about truba yeah it shouldn't be because uh people are like oh man they're so
Starting point is 00:17:50 i bet they're so glad they got out of that truba deal i'm like i don't know he's pretty effective uh uh five on five player he's not playing special teams so whatever perhaps overpaid but who cares he's effective i think this version of the golden knights i think would have waxed the floor with edmonton yeah just seeing that series against the ducks now like this this team here is so much better than any team in the pacific someone in one of our group chats last night was like how did the oilers lose to this ducks team and the answer is the oilers were not a top half of the nhl team this year they weren't very good that is how yeah because we expected them to turn it on eventually because they never played good old regular season no the golden knights are doing
Starting point is 00:18:32 what we thought the oilers would exactly and then they never turned it on and the season is over and now the golden knights have turned it on yeah and i just want to say listen we're all about to eat just a heap of garbage on uh minnesota colorado we're all all three of us sitting at this table we're about to eat a heap of it i had canes in four i had vegas in six there you go and i would like to just and you were there you go but you were wrong about about that one and absolutely yeah oh man i got that's pretty good i know you still got you still got uh buffalo montreal to be i had buffalo and seven which after last night looks bad yeah okay we'll see 100 clutch canadians presented by moosehead canadian lager it's canada's game canada's beer and pick canada's
Starting point is 00:19:20 clutch player of this past week uh we're gonna start with jesse blake on the corner jesse who you guys um this individual i've been hoping to include him in this segment for so long it's all i've ever wanted to do with this segment since it got first announced and my clutch canadian has to go to the one and only william neil and calgary i wasn't here last week so i couldn't award him the prize but william neilander supports canada more than any other nhl are out there when the toronto raptors were up against the cleveland cavaliers in the nba playoffs william nylander was there for game four in toronto and then when they played game seven in cleveland this canadian cares so much about canada and our
Starting point is 00:20:12 sporting culture that he flew down there with chris danaf who is also canadian they flew down to cleveland and watch the game from there love that i love that the clutch canadian for the playoffs nba playoffs william neilander yeah from calgary he is canadian get off my back i love that i love that pick do you want me to go next yeah i do all right next uh the next clutch canadian i'm gonna pick is lane hudson of the montreal canadians 12.12 games lane hudson's a dual citizen so lane hudson is a montreal canadian and also a dual citizen 12 points in 12 games and that that set up last night let's just that was insane it's very very good and he's giving buffalo all sorts of it's it's the american way of of playing hockey but he's a canadian so i'm making a canadian
Starting point is 00:21:03 great all canadians who is more canadian william neilander or lane hudson yes i'm gonna say i'm gonna say oh that's hard because willie spent a lot of time here as an adult uh and lane is not as old as willie they're hey canadian is a concept is it we welcome all comers yeah we welcome all comers yeah who you're picking yeah so i'm saying lane hudson and i think his his mobility on defense is giving uh the buffalo sabers a whole bunch of fits and he is unbelievable so lane hudson clutch canadian now you guys you got to talk about the word clutch like i i don't i don't think you guys know what you're talking about like william kneelander he went to a winner takes all game but like he went there as a fan and like lane hudson i mean like i don't know he hasn't
Starting point is 00:21:52 performed in an elimination game in the second round yet you really put a caveat on that i am putting a caveat on that because my guy showed up bigly and was the best player in an elimination game how dare you you guys never believed in him but i never stopped mitchell marner wow oh my goodness what a pick i thought you were gonna say brett out and no definitely not mitchell marner Yeah, goal of the year, goal of the year Best player on the Golden Knights The best player in these playoffs And he is my Clutch Canadian from Florida
Starting point is 00:22:31 I love that, I love that, great picks today Gentlemen, great picks, so Listen, we want you to send your suggestions In every week for the 100% Clutch Canadians Presented by Moosehead Canadian Log, remember Moosehead is 100% Canadian owned, 100% Canadian
Starting point is 00:22:47 Packaged, and 100% Canadian Brewed since 1867 67 that's right there's a 67 in it too because we're all leaf fans isn't that funny but that's confederation so it's different anyway check it out grab a moose head this weekend let's talk about this torts thing uh because here's okay here's what i hate i hate this i hate this so much so he makes it about him no no no no no no no no we must stop biting us in the media we must stop biting yeah he knew so here's tell everybody what happened last night jesse what happened last night so after the game john tortorella like like we said didn't do the handshake line with the ducks
Starting point is 00:23:27 and then uh he's afraid to go let's just call it he goes to the back and the only players that are available to the media are mitch and i figured who sat at the podium with him i think it was brett howden was brett howdy and brett howden and mitch go to the wearing a hoodie i don't know he wasn't he wasn't no not not that time can he read did anybody did anybody say he's too dumb to do the the press conference yeah it must have been hard for him yeah he got through it though so they did the press conference and there when they come out to the podium mitch tells the reporters there who already asked him the question this can't be more than 10 minutes the bus is waiting for us um torts is gonna leave us so they already know that that's coming and the the locker room
Starting point is 00:24:08 then is not open to reporters so you need to go in and talk to anybody else who is not at the podium because they only let in two people at the podium and then the coach also does not come out and do his podium so presumably or they did the Vegas Golden Knights after they just let Marner and Howden talk at the podium they all hightailed it out at Anaheim on their bus yeah which is not allowed uh in the collective bargaining agreement for anybody who's absolutely like oh the players don't even talk to me or we don't even need their stupid quotes who cares John Tortorella doesn't talk to me the players and the league negotiated together collectively bargained after these games they will talk to the media it is not the media's desire to do it they decided on their side to do
Starting point is 00:24:48 it and we're like oh you're gonna talk to us that's cool so they have violated the cba by not opening the dressing room and not making their coach available post game oh but jesse violations to the cba are not a big deal oh wait a sec one time coming at a christmas break the leafs left on a flight 90 minutes before they were supposed to and were fined one hundred thousand dollars for it because they were 90 minutes early that's because there's a rule and there's a specific rule that's written down and they violated that rule and then i still get and then i still get fined or whatever and bill foley will gladly pay that because what's a hundred grand to him yep and adam got it there are some rumors that uh get ready to learn tree planting john there's some
Starting point is 00:25:30 rumors that vegas was trying to catch a specific flight out of the airport in anaheim like they have strict 10 p.m laws and stuff like that but that's a little untrue because mitch marner was on the podium at like 9 50 can i also say they would have never made a flight at 10 it's orange county it's orange county you can find another pj there's also it's orange fucking count 41 games played there yeah and every team talks to the media uh for the 7 p.m starts every team on the way out of the game and just none of us pay attention 41 times a year guys they were that mad right and there is real laws there maybe you know i'm not aware of the aviation laws in orange county how about this ride the fucking bus it's three hours how about this uh if you got a problem
Starting point is 00:26:15 and and you know here's the thing here's the thing so here's what the media needs to take responsibility for i include us in this okay so torts refuses to speak and then i see you know uh uh josh yo he of the athletics says like jesse granger wasn't thrilled like he said john tortorella he said that'll show leaf fans for criticizing no no josh did not say oh he has more than one thing to say on tortorella declined to speak to the media after advancing to the western conference finals this is jesse the golden knights also didn't open the dressing room after the game they brought one player to a side room to speak along with two who spoke at the podium I have been covering the NHL for nine years and I have neither seen either of those things happen once.
Starting point is 00:26:53 Now, then, you know, Josh Yohi of The Athletic retweeted that and said there is not an organization that's like less liked. I'm paraphrasing that than Vegas. And I think for a lot of people, that's true. They're villainous. You know, everyone's like, yeah, yeah, yeah. I kind of nailed it last episode. Then they did something else. But but here's what we got to do. And then Bruce Garriott from Ottawa was like, you know, every time torches out of work, the media calls him and goes, come be on a panel. and they need to stop doing that and i'm like guys at what point are you just going to realize there's no justice just yeah i i just here this is my thing like this is my thing how did i know specifically for reporters that go into dressing rooms that this is a very important part of what
Starting point is 00:27:35 they do and you might not value what they do but millions of people do otherwise it wouldn't be a multi hundred million many hundreds of millions of dollars business in every sport the cap is going up because of stuff like like when i always see when i see people tweeting like i don't care what the players think well that's nice for you but lots of people do okay you know you'll be blown away by i don't care what you don't care about there are so many different people that value so many different things than you i know it's shocking for you but the other side of this is the media needs to stop the outrage here a little bit we need to stop we need to bring it down we need to bring it down not because you're not right but sometimes you got to understand how it's going
Starting point is 00:28:14 to play and right when you're out there angry tweeting about this like here's the here's what you do you go through the proper channels through your the professional writers hockey writers association and you file the complaint the nhl looks at it they find the thing and we move on sending these tweets out like i can't believe they would do this of course listen do you think the golden knights did that not on purpose they're doing that because they're styling themselves as last year's panthers they're trying to be the bad guys oh the world's against us they hate us we'll do whatever the fuck we want fuck them that's what they're doing and by the way it's working so maybe stop playing into that and just let it go i don't know listen i feel bad for jesse
Starting point is 00:28:57 granger i feel bad for anybody that was down there that was trying to do a job and couldn't do their job the highly critical vegas media i well exactly and i get i get why they're pissed about it they're getting mistreated because of all the uh unfavorable coverage they get down But I also think we got to keep this in context of like life, which is the average person is going to be OK. And you still got you still saw the game. Got to write the stories. Yes, it's bullshit. Yes, they'll get fine.
Starting point is 00:29:20 Very likely. And we move on. I just feel like what it does as a collective, and maybe this is wrong of me to say this, is it makes us look like gigantic crybabies. And then it allows Vegas to go. Yeah, I think when you are wronged as a public person who's living is to write about things, you should talk about it. and i and i and i said that did i not just say i said that i understand why jesse said it i understand why he tweeted it but i'm like i don't want everybody from every other market to like pile on or whatever just be like yeah i support this or whatever but i just feel like i think
Starting point is 00:29:51 those are their colleagues i think i think a lot of people in the media when other journalists are wrong nobody's gonna stick up for media people no or journalists so the uh the only people are gonna do it are the other people in the media so i think like i think they should be talking about the first time the avalanche iced the puck in their series against vegas they should just not honor the icing and go for the face off wherever they want if nothing matters then nothing matters well like the rules man i'm not saying that that's not what i'm saying though you know that's not what i'm saying i know that it's not what you're saying but no what i'm saying is follow the proper channels get they'll get fined yeah and and that's it it's also the nhl
Starting point is 00:30:31 and it kind of helps when you grease the wheels a bit and we know this okay because the leafs when it comes to uh player safety shit they get special treatment we know that for a fact because actually this dovetails perfectly with the golden knights when zach white cloud hit matthew nize and wasn't suspended we all went what the hell and you know damn well if that happened against the predators they wouldn't have released a video but it happened against the leafs so the nhl treated it differently because there was a lot of noise around right um what was the press conference that george did at the gm meetings that was immediately following something and i can't remember what it was uh i don't know but he was talking about the process and all that yeah i remember that yeah
Starting point is 00:31:17 crap i can't remember what it was if there's noise it gets addressed is what i'm saying okay so maybe i'm wrong then if you go through the proper channels maybe the nhl goes yeah but no one cares yeah okay fair enough i'll listen to that and like i think like media members defending their business i think is always good because nobody's gonna do it because nobody feels bad for media people no for sure stand up for yourself that's also true here's what it is on torts uh he is old school no nonsense but also will never miss an opportunity to make it about himself i think people are very nuanced i think he's one of those gruff guys with a heart of gold and treats a lot of the people around him well
Starting point is 00:31:58 and can also treat people like garbage and is kind of a jerk for no apparent reason. He will be a complete asshole and then sort of say sorry for it the next day. He is so many of the boomers who raised us. He is John Tortorella. I think it's funny with Torts. Every time I see him take over a new job,
Starting point is 00:32:19 he's like making nice with the media. About 40, 45 games in, there's like a losing streak and he starts to or something like this happens yeah well and i just look at this and i'm like yo this is torts's thing and every time we fall for it he's in like a pussycat out like a lion man he he gets grumpier and grumpier and grumpier and then he leaves and then he comes back in oh i've turned over a new leaf this is a new john tortorella we've heard that before yeah that was the john tortorella with his dogs oh wait you're telling me that he's a person with flaws it doesn't
Starting point is 00:32:45 make his actions okay i i think a bare minimum as a human being is you like your dog holy shit you don't even like your dog also i don't blame media organizations for hiring him because the guy's probably box office in the ratings i want to hear what he has because people will tune in to what he has to say absolutely followed by nothing interesting ever whenever he's in the media it's like i don't like trevor zieger is doing flippy dippies yeah that's actually the one memorable thing i can remember him saying and it's like thanks john yeah that and uh i guess that's what i'm saying brooksie yeah could have paid my friend's uncle a lot less okay let's move on to let's move on to colorado and uh minnesota i know you were going to get to montreal buffalo
Starting point is 00:33:26 but i just want to get the west out of it first whatever so first off uh we all picked minnesota to win that series and let's be honest outside of that one game they weren't in it they were not in that series there was quite a couple i'm gonna go out on a limb and say we overthought it i think you're right i think that's a great way to put it um missing erickson Eck and Brody was was well and Brody but specifically Erickson Eck because like this is gonna haunt Minnesota Wild fans Hayden all summer long uh to start overtime I think it's like 10 seconds in Michael McCarron with the game on his stick and he doesn't even get the shot off if it's not Michael McCarron I think it goes in yeah and like bless the guy we've been singing
Starting point is 00:34:15 his praises for months that he's playing in a role that no one has thought him in for a very long time he's a former first round pick but gone are the years where we're like top six michael mccarron here it comes and now he's forced into that role and he whiffed yeah he would have had that goal for sure eric snack would have he could have had it now kaprizov sort of let them down at the end of the game i don't know why he stopped skating doesn't drive the net causes the turnover and it goes the other way but uh wow now i gotta i gotta say something to colorado avalanche fans we were wrong we made the wrong pick we overthought it we were wrong um i've never seen a group of angrier people win a series and i thought i've always i've never had any issues with abs fans
Starting point is 00:35:02 but for whatever reason i think we really got under their skin in our in our in our prediction thing i mean all three of us picked them or picked the one i should say but you won it's okay to be happy so here's it we okay we we didn't pick your team we didn't pick your team you didn't pick your team earlier that night your team yeah that's true i know for a fact drew drew was like it's fucking over he said it in the chat you allowed drew said in the chat maddie backed me up on that you were down three nothing and two goals from a 38 year old nick felino you also thought it was over and you weren't like don't worry they're gonna win this game like oh yeah i bet you are you what you should do is point laugh ha instead it's like you guys are a bunch of fucking losers
Starting point is 00:35:42 i'm like guys relax you're in the western conference final where you should be good happy relax as someone who isn't weed legal in colorado fucking takes it's wrong with you i it's it's just a they are it's almost like they've embodied they've all taken uh a nathan mckinnon pill and i feel like maybe that's what it is they're just they've absorbed their assistant captain's vibe and by the way seeing nathan mckinnon smile for the first time in several years was pretty cool and score and score on a not wide open uh i that was a fucking nasty shot holy shit yeah and then kulak gets the game winner red kula okay okay have we recorded since no Chris Knobloch got fired no well how dare you fire Chris Knobloch the day after Brett Kulak
Starting point is 00:36:32 scores that goal how dare you how dare you you should use lose your job what a spit what a spit in the face of Oilers fans and Penguins fans whoops well they got Gerard I think they wanted the puck movement they got Gerard and a pick I'm pretty sure like that's pretty good yeah but um kulak was good in the series too brett kulak uh my favorite renaissance game he was unbelievable oh brent burns was unbelievable in that game not the last time we'll talk about brent burns uh today but uh yeah he was out there for the tying goal in place of makar because makar was hurt yeah it's crazy yeah he was great um shoot where was i going with kulak oh firing knoblock he kulak has been in four of the last five western conference finals and it's my favorite
Starting point is 00:37:22 stat in the whole world because it's with the avalanche it's with the oilers twice i believe it was with the avalanche in 22 and in 2021 in the western conference final he was with the montreal canadian man i forgot he was a canadian i forgot they were in the western conference technically yeah that's funny that's funny yeah more of the last five so so mckinnon gets that goal now listen cj broke it down perfectly on the cj show he said jesse that the the the olympic goal that that mckinnon had he didn't have time and he and he rushed it and he missed right this one he had time he got set up and he wired it do you think there's a a world where he hasn't got up and thought about that missed goal every single day i hope he thinks about it every minute of his
Starting point is 00:38:17 life i think about it every minute of my life and how the universe is completely different if he just scores that stupid goal i mean i'm still mad at him and i will be forever if i'm an avalanche fan which means i'm likely american i hope he thinks about that every moment you don't want a happy nathan mckinnon it should terrify you that he smiled after that game you need pissed off nate you need him to skate like he hates the ice because he can do that it was it was um what's it lethal shooter or whatever okay i understand it now and he just fucking ripped it and it wasn't even a flat puck it was sort of wobbling but he still nailed it doesn't matter he was never gonna miss it again yeah he's never gonna miss that shot ever again for the rest of
Starting point is 00:38:59 his life so uh he's here to kill stuffies and score goals and he's all out of stuffies we'll do uh we'll do we'll do a series previews and that sort of thing so we're not going to get into that here but we will do series previews um for you uh the can i say one thing yeah about avalanche fans listen they've been so gosh darn dominant for so long it's like oh i thought they said steph curry couldn't shoot threes like guys everyone believes in you they were my pick to make to win the win the cup in september yeah they abandoned though so this is what i for one round you keep doing that round you pick the ducks and then the first round you know what i'm gonna stop picking i'm gonna stop picking this is what i've tried i've been trying to do these playoffs
Starting point is 00:39:43 because i i always abandon my picks like from the beginning of the playoffs and then i see new evidence and i abandon it yeah that's i've been i've stopped doing that in these playoffs in the one series i was like you know what never mind i'm just threw my cup pick in the garbage and they freaking boss yeah okay sometimes life throws your curveballs and you don't have time to get to them and that's where task rabbit comes in and i think you should check this out because here's the deal one of the things one of the weird quirks about my condo building is that they use my floor to rappel down and clean all the windows,
Starting point is 00:40:17 but they never clean my windows. Uh-oh. And their way around on that is like, well, it's a patio window. You can do that yourself. And I'm like, well, hang on a second. What if I don't want to? I don't have the stuff! Because you've got to have that scraper thing and the washer thing. The chemicals. You've got to have the right chemicals. See, that's what I'm saying. That's why I
Starting point is 00:40:32 used TaskRabbit, and I employed a tasker. Here's the thing. Starting point is 00:41:58 first slap shot i've seen him take i think all series i think it was blocked um he's not out there hitting anyone he's not out there blocking anything his shots are not getting through his shots are not dangerous he had a goal in game four i can't believe this series isn't even at six and it's the only one yeah he had a goal in game four it goes off the stanchion and then off the back of the goal yeah that was crazy though that was like you can't do that again like no one saw that goal and was like that's vintage tage right like it was it was fortunate yeah i didn't say lucky i said fortunate i'm fancy with it and then if you go and watch the whole shift that led to the penalty that basically iced the game useless and he's that's the penalty where he cross-checks the
Starting point is 00:42:50 guy in the jake evans jake evans so he's by the way it's always jake evans didn't jake evans get blown up by mark shifley like four years he's having a rough series like he's getting he's getting the poor guy just gets creamed in the playoff he literally gets smacked around and then as he's getting up goes and then it goes like he throws up his arms and then he gets creamed again time to be defensively responsible again oh i guess i'll shut a guy down that's all he does here's me not getting the puck to ivan damage go get it yourself there ivan and then yesterday he did but uh in the offensive zone earlier in that shift the sabers can't get anything done because tage is lackadaisically getting back on side yep he's in the zone they
Starting point is 00:43:32 they need him to get out of there and he won't do it he's lackadaisical and aloof in the defensive end when the puck goes the other way and then he cross checks jake evans and here's the thing he didn't even make it count if you're gonna take a penalty make it count but he just sort of went and like mushed evans in the face with the cross check i'm not saying remove the guy's row of teeth because that's how it turns into a major here's a better suggestion just don't do it at all the one listen they allow so much stuff to go in the playoffs you can't cross-check people in the head unless it's two guys at once in 2021 and then it's okay against wayne simmons uh joel edmondson and ben chiron i'll never forget it i'll never get over it it's one of the least justifiable
Starting point is 00:44:27 things the nhl's department of player safety has ever done montreal canadian fans know this um you can't cross-check people in the face you can't do it you what's the matter with you and then nick suzuki scores like immediately and now you're down two goals in this game that's been ridiculously fun and back and forth and they didn't look in it for a moment in the third period it was really concerning in this series that's been so tight and so back and forth and you know it's been tight in the sense of okay this team dominates this game this team dominates this game four felt like montreal was the better team buffalo got lucky uh montreal took a stupid penalty and that led to benson getting the power play goal obviously tage had the lucky goal
Starting point is 00:45:19 outside of no they got dominated so jesse steve what what should lindy ruff do to make tage great again that took me a second uh drop him down play the wheels off of norris benson and uh who else is out there with them norris benson don't sorry play the wheels off them that line is spectacular um don't take rasmus donnelly off the ice essentially he's amazing i've really liked bowen byram in this series um pray owen power is okay i know he returned to the game but that that fall looked nasty poor connor timmons dude i was on the stream the next words out of my mouth were about to be how good he's been and then he turns the puck over in the hab score yeah so brutal um no i dropped tage down tuck is at least out there running around and trying to hit guys
Starting point is 00:46:21 and like generating he hasn't generated a point in this series and he's a minus eight or minus 10 alex tuck oh yeah yeah and tage is right there with him i just i you gotta break them up okay jesse you gotta break them up what do you do what do you do if you're lindy how do you avoid montreal winning in montreal it's gonna be tough like i don't i don't know if they just have the guys in the four group to hang with montreal's like it's not right now it doesn't feel close and it really hasn't been like tage tage's performance you're learning a lot about what he is as a player now it's not even tj isn't like 23 anymore he's 28 this is this is who he is and this is his first real test and he's crumbling at that every corner he's failing it um see we can
Starting point is 00:47:07 do it for non-league players um do you take them up like okay jesse has the lines up in front of him the only thing i can think of that doesn't sound completely stupid and even this i think that's a pretty generous interpretation take thompson away from center throw someone else there maybe throw him on the wing what do you put consta helenius in there honestly dude well so this is okay for me benson norris don't here's what i do that's your first line now okay but then are they going up against a guy like philip to know uh i don't whatever montreal is doing is working right so i don't know make them think make them think dude krebs i've liked tuck i've actually sort of liked despite the fact that that line is getting creamed
Starting point is 00:48:02 mcleod has not been great jesse has alex tuck spent money in this series he's ufa he's apparently wanting over 10 because the ufa pool is so ridiculously poor this year i think you'll get every dollar you want okay and i honestly he should just return to buffalo like yeah he's been a fantastic saber he's also from there yeah and i don't know if if this series which should hang on him alone like if his if his center mate there is having such a god-awful series like it's not entirely on tuck i would give him the money he's looking for if i was if i was the sabers listen you threw helenus in there uh as a hope and a prayer and he scored It worked. Well, he was great in game four, even though he didn't score. You could argue he was better in game four. And then in game five, he scored and I thought he was very good. Honestly, you don't have to do it full time, but I'd switch him and Thompson on occasion. At least. I'm not saying full time. He's not effective enough. He's not effective enough. And it's killing two players that I think can be effective for you in Krebs and Tuck.
Starting point is 00:49:14 the puck dies on his stick dies on his stick i'm not even talking about body language or his lack of production or watch it's the habs are doing to thompson what they did to kucherov where by the end of that series it's oh kucherov's not really getting it done oh they've sort of shut him down and by the end of the series you're like he can't make a pass he can't make one or receive one it's the same with tage i i don't know what to do other than de-emphasize tage that's going to be a tough one it's going to be a tough one because i think there's an effective player in this series in creb uh crebs and tuck okay tage has been awful so let's let's not forget here that the whoever wins this series is fighting to play the team
Starting point is 00:50:02 that has not yet lost a game in the playoffs the formidable carolina hurricanes do either a chance i think both teams win a game okay it's crazy that's the standard right and then you go from there if you can beat them once that means you can beat them four times you just got to figure out how jesse do they win a game who buffalo or montreal buffalo or montreal yeah i think i don't think carolina is going to sweep their way to the stanley cup final okay montreal all has figured out their offense which is so odd like i've i've watched them now 12 games in these playoffs it's so rare that i've been watching and i've been like yeah they're the better offensive team and then you look up and they have like five goals and you're like what right like they're just
Starting point is 00:50:58 they take advantage of their of their chances and guys who have been snake bitten are finally starting to score caulfield was snake bitten that was a nice goal by suzuki too suzuki getting one shot and ivan demidov it's crazy how many guys offensively have been performing below their potential below what you expected in the regular season and below even a pessimistic view of their playoff production yeah and they're a win away from the final four last night demidov wouldn't be denied he's had his chances all playoff long and last night was just wouldn't be denied and if that goes to his legs you're all screwed yeah it's good to see them finally turn it on to where it was at the regular season because the cole caulfield piece was a big
Starting point is 00:51:56 you know missing part of their entire offense so it was great and yeah on the um on the jake evans goal even like that's all debit off and as with everything all good things start with lane hudson um him making this play off of the josh anderson goal off the face off i'll show you the little dots on uh nhl.com so montreal is going to win this face off back and lane hudson decides i'm gonna do this on my own oh my god it's it's just that what he's done at his best he wins he gets the draw after philip dino wins the draw it goes back to lane hudson he says i'm gonna take this to the net and create this goal so josh anderson doesn't have to do anything at all because of his speed because of his skating he's able to beat anybody who wants in the ice
Starting point is 00:52:42 get right to the net and there's josh anderson knowing i have to be in position to score this goal and that's what he's been doing this playoffs like it hasn't been as consistent as regular season but when you see this and then you compound that with demidoff and you can see the the demidoff shot here that jake evans uh eventually taps in but this one's on uko pekka lukinin who needs to squeeze that was not good that game but that's also just a fantastic shot so much was on that by demidoff and jake evans is doing the right thing by going to the net and and pushing it over the line so montreal has really looked like the third period comeback kids that they were all regular season long except now it's kind of throughout the entire game and they're scoring
Starting point is 00:53:29 at will against the sabers i they should have a lot of confidence is finishing this off in six um has espn learned upl's full name they i think they still are doing the uka instead of the uko like when when pk and them try and say it okay uko now now it's probably just an inside look at things right what's what's the joke yeah the joke isn't really funny oh listen what's funny on espn you know is the joke can we just be honest even when they make jokes i'm like the joke is lull foreigner name good one hey that's okay though that's okay now okay uh did you want to the sabers didn't they release a thing back at espn yes they did and they were actually very good humored about it um i don't know if you want to play that sure i could pull
Starting point is 00:54:16 it up yeah two and five canadians will hear the words you have cancer that's why every step and dollar raised matters on september 19th join thousands in toronto for the princess margaret Cancer Foundation Walk. At participating A&W locations in Ontario.
Starting point is 00:55:17 In the meantime, while Jesse's pulling that up, I had a thought. And I do want to make this about the Leafs a little bit because there's some Leafs stuff that we should talk about. Well, everything's about the Leafs. And it's the Atlantic. It kind of dovetails perfectly. Somebody said, hey, what's Leafs' expectations next year? I'm like, brother, it's too early. But I'm looking at the Sabres.
Starting point is 00:55:40 I'm looking at the Lightning. I'm looking at the Montreal Canadiens. I'm looking at Florida Panthers probably being back. Barkov already scored this morning at the World Championships. Hilarious. Go for it. Lindell was the assist. Unless Boston Falls?
Starting point is 00:55:57 like or one of these teams has injuries and you know injuries happen throughout the year i this is going to be a real uphill battle get good get fucking good i get good yeah yeah yeah holy shit this is a tough division someone's always lucky someone's always unlucky yeah sometimes it's more than one and sometimes they alternate that's why we watch and guess what it's going to be 84 games of that shit yep uh instead of 80 oh yeah yeah yep yep here's the sabers uh teaching us all how to say Ukko Pekka Lukkanen. Okay.
Starting point is 00:56:59 that's adorable well done i mean dude just say the guy's name yeah yeah you're a professional talker of people's names hey i i listen far be it for me to criticize i have i struggle with names too you weren't doing uh or we've we've never really done any of us lukash dostal that's how they say it on the yeah let me go lucas they don't like lukash i'm gonna i'm gonna North Americanize his name. I am. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:28 Because then if you do that with one, you got to do with that with all of them. And like even Sergei is not. I don't think Sergei is even. But they hit Lukasz hard on the broadcast all game long. I know. When announcers do that, I'm like, okay, where do you draw the line though?
Starting point is 00:57:43 Like Michael Granlund. Mikael Granlund. Okay. But it's Michael. In English terms, it would be anglicized to Michael. Sure. Oh. Right?
Starting point is 00:57:53 so once the ones that drive me nuts are like and this is it's crazy i just don't my thing is is that i think it's unfair to try to hold people to that you need to pronounce it in their home language there's like okay there's like 10 or 11 you're right that if you do it with that one you gotta do it all of them yeah so i've given up and it's not because i don't think maybe that they should be i'm just saying i'm not good enough yeah i'm serious you're on the line here here that's fair here's one here's one just pick one yeah none of this fumbling through it just makes you seem like an idiot yeah whereas if you pick one i'm gonna be like he doesn't know how to pronounce it versus you don't know who this player is that's fair that's fair because you at least
Starting point is 00:58:40 want to know that you know who the player is people understand you not knowing how to pronounce something they don't understand you being a paid hockey professional who doesn't know who this person is or doesn't care or doesn't care which might be worse yeah yeah i get that i get that you don't care the starting goaltender for a team in the second round is okay yeah it's also like we're deep into this thing it's it's almost jew and there's only and you can't say a goal he was at the olympics what about what about doing this in october hey hey jesse let me throw this at you there's only eight teams left what do you mean you're not actually fewer now well yeah but at the start of this round yeah there's only eight teams yeah like you could figure it out it's bad
Starting point is 00:59:21 like i didn't know how to pronounce vl properly or washi properly i was like how do you is it washi okay it's washi then i learned great how long that took is it vl it's vl okay i got it now i'm never gonna forget it and you could forgive me for not knowing that because he had no points for three straight years and then all of a sudden became a factor in Anaheim. Right? How many A?
Starting point is 00:59:46 Yeah. How many games is Uko Pekka Luke and Mitch Marner? He's not quite UPL, Jesse. UPL, who's been the starter there for three years? Maybe we're the Atlantic Division
Starting point is 00:59:56 so we know him. He's played 190 games. Yeah. UPL? Yeah. Listen, there are some guys that play 190 games and sneak under the radar,
Starting point is 01:00:04 but they're not the starting goalie for an NHL team. UPL was a big part of my first GM mode. absolutely we did it the way the pizza box yes he won 20 he holy shit i didn't realize he was this good he was 22 9 and 3 this season the buffalo sabers with a 9 10 he had 22 wins in 35 games in 34 starts that's why his struggles this postseason have been so shocking i believe he has the worst safe percentage out of the qualified goaltenders so lion i stand by what
Starting point is 01:00:36 i said about lion after which game was he poor in three where he allowed a lot of goals but i was like i don't think he actually looked that bad lucan and look bad yeah lucan has just been allowing ones he shouldn't amongst any goaltenders who have played at all in the playoffs upl has the second worst save percentage the only person below him philip gustafson who was in one game allowed four goals four goals that's so uh and the 851 is not good enough how are they two and two and lukash dostal is uh right there in third last 870 his save percentage isn't getting any better because he's at home stewart skinner and connor ingram being neck and neck seems mean it seems mean yeah you're not going to win games if you're buffalo and uh lion and luke how about
Starting point is 01:01:28 this if you're gonna call him lukash you have to pronounce every french canadian name i i have to pronounce every french canadian name i'm just i just i'm doing lukash no day i'm never doing it again canadian it's philip denno it's denno it's not to know it's denno you gotta hit it with the force of 10 julian mckenzie's yes absolutely that's a force 10 julian watch out man that dude just eat every time yeah but that's but julian i don't think he does he do that for every one of them i guess yeah yeah julian does every french canadian name no no not just french canadian i'm just talking about like everybody oh no he's committed just to the french just the french canadian yeah yeah which is i get that's your stance whatever hey like you know how you practice
Starting point is 01:02:12 medicine but then you specialize oh i like the well that's a good i'm sticking with lucas okay me too yeah yeah and you know what back home it's lukash and that's great it's lucas here for me okay this ain't your home in my country i call you lucas adam wild all right now i want to talk a little oilers here because chris knobloch was finally let go they finally put him out of his misery sorry the people like that one i'm just i'm just thinking listen i just need all these immigrants to go home wow i'm sorry go home and give bring me back a pronouncer on their names that's let me finish the sentence i need a pronouncer on their names go home write it down phonetically for me and bring it back is what i'm asking for okay yes maddie have you guys
Starting point is 01:03:04 seen those tiktoks where like white girls go to like mexican restaurants they try to pronounce like everything oh i'm gonna yeah like or like when they come back from vacation in barcelona they're like back in barcelona yeah kecheo pepe girl remember her she went like super viral sorry no it's true man there's a chris nablock chris nablock yeah yeah nubla chris nubla no anyway chris nablock let go officially yesterday although unofficially the day before um now the oilers need a head coach and vegas is like not only are we not speaking to the media you can't speak to our guy and you know what technically speaking i think they could just hold him although the nhl hates that and would probably hold them for the entire length of his contract
Starting point is 01:03:55 it never allowed the interview can i be honest vegas are the team to try it because nobody else does this but i'm actually thinking i'm like yo they might actually do this the thing is like the nhl can't punish them for this because this is allowed yeah but gary will find a way they can do it on the like hey stop being an asshole thing but this is allowed which is weird sean avery is actually the craziest example of that what he did to martin broker where he was just waving his stick in front of his face was not against the rules mid playoffs they changed the rule you can't do that you change the rules mid playoffs the fuck all goals count for three now uh-huh well you can't do that now but they did it if sean avery was a beloved player in the player association the
Starting point is 01:04:41 players association would have said no fucking scott gomez did it they they would have allowed yeah yeah but it was it was avery who had you know you pissed everybody off let's be honest the guy the guy lives for that he loves pissing people off but it's so smart because like it was legal yeah he just got around the the rule that didn't exist yes it's like when people would be like oh there's no rule in the cba that says a gorilla can't play for your team somebody should try it that's why like everyone put an elephant in net why not you everyone needs to read up on roger nielsen bless that man he did the funniest shit and they had to change the rules because this guy just kept doing funny shit what did he do like okay the greatest example is when
Starting point is 01:05:23 his team pulled the goalie he would instruct the goalie just leave your stick across the goal line that's funny now there's just a stick they'd slide the puck down the ice and it would hit the damn stick and eventually they had to be like okay so when you pull the goalie you can't just do that you can't leave your equipment purposely in the net yeah yeah yeah that's funny yeah no people should try and exploit these things this is funny uh now here's here's where this isn't sean avery um vegas golden knights are like f you we're paying them yeah well the idea is like he gets the job and then you no longer have to pay him right but bill foley doesn't give a shit yeah yeah but no team should have ever given a shit about that money you could all afford if they
Starting point is 01:06:07 enough coach it's their prerogative to pay him to not coach one of their divisional rivals which right now it's edmonton and la and competitively that makes sense here's the thing vegas has been to five western conference finals in nine years since they started is that good they listen we have allowed our management groups in other places and our ownership groups to be nicey nice and we criticized vegas and i was one of the people that criticized you know how they let mark andre flurry go and whatever and there was a vegas fan actually in the chat last night who was like i might have to invest in a marner jersey i'm like why haven't you already and he's like well because everybody at vegas in vegas gets traded and and he's like so fans fans are always
Starting point is 01:06:50 worried about like who to put on the back of their jersey and that's fair right it's actually really really fair but they get the mascot they demand winning and it's not the fans that are doing it although the fans expect it the the management group themselves goes what are we here to do fuck everybody over and win a cup and at a certain point why isn't the rest of the league or why like i'll speak about my leafs stop being nice to guys get a stop being nice to other teams other teams okay unless you want to get listen i listen please go hire brube that's fine but you know bruce cassidy's a weapon you know he's a great coach and if you allow him to go to a divisional rival you're stupid that's stupid and i don't care if it's not done it's stupid
Starting point is 01:07:36 have they shown themselves to be a stupid team no they're very intelligent and so while it's against the code and i'm sure the nhl is going to make them change their mind uh i get it i think one of the craziest things about this story as it's been unfolding is that bruce cassidy went on nhl network to complain about it i don't know if you guys saw the clip but he went on the uh nhl tonight first shift i think it's called um but he talked there on nhl network their property about how he's there's been a couple job interviews that he hasn't been able to do and he can't do them and the nhl's own nhl media account tweeted it out and said bruce cassidy still wants to work so i don't think this is gonna last very long because
Starting point is 01:08:25 clearly the upper brass within the nhl are not happy if they're allowing but gary will call and and bill foley jesse will say yeah i'll let him talk to somebody not in my division yeah and and and push me on it gary guys i'm gonna be in the stanley cup final in a minute here maybe push me on it the vegas goldenites gave a multi-million dollar multi-year contract to carter hart they are not swayed by your criticism yeah they don't read it they don't they don't care so yeah they operate this is how they operate this is when they wake up in the morning and they show up in the boardroom are we allowed to do this okay great let's do it yeah i actually i applaud this mentality like doing this thing where it's like i i'm allowed to do this i am
Starting point is 01:09:09 gonna try it it's like offer sheets it's the same that we talked about last episode nobody did offer sheets for no reason offer sheets are just sitting there and there are good players available you can just throw money at them and everyone just do like oh you're not gonna do that they're my feather fellow gms and then people just start doing it they're like oh yeah those are in the rules so i don't know it's it's kind of cool that they're doing that this they're jerks to cassidy for not allowing him to work but if it's within their right then and they're gonna just they're gonna push it and you know what see how far you can take it jesse we watch a lot of formula one what do they do in formula one with the rules they cheat and they try to get around
Starting point is 01:09:45 every rule and the nhl is like oh no we wouldn't want to do that why wouldn't you try test me on it i love that yeah it's literally try me try me it's a punk it's a punk test yeah what's the prince say oh that's right it says this and look at yo look at what happens when they when they go try me look at michael and lauer he got his first pick back is it exactly where it should be no but michael and lauer got that first round pick back and so did the devils 10 years ago uh-oh try me on it try me does complaining does complaining work complain it yeah you're right we gotta go back hey jared though these are billionaires and they're gary's boss you're absolutely correct you're we are just mere members of the media and fuck the media am i right i've always said
Starting point is 01:10:33 um here's what i'm trying to find but maybe it doesn't matter um doug armstrong maverick badass actually does two offer sheets on the same day but even he goes all right here's a pity trade Yeah, yeah. For no good reason. He could have easily just like sat on it. Tried to save the relationship. Yeah, I guess so. The thought there is the Oilers were wielding the only leverage they had, which was like, we can drag this out or we can do this.
Starting point is 01:11:05 He should have said, try me. They didn't. Because it's hockey. This is why they frigging win. Yeah. This is why they win, dude. And I bet if, I don't know, Toronto reached out, they'd probably be granted permission. Now, it has been said.

Starting point is 01:11:59 You've got to try breakfast at A&W. And what better way than with a delicious Pret Organic Coffee? Starting at just $1 all day, every day, now until December 31st. You gotta try breakfast at A&W. At participating A&W locations in Ontario. If you were hoping, like I was, that maybe Bruce Cassidy would be the guy Toronto gets, Freed said this morning he doesn't think that's the case. I was also told yesterday, for what it's worth, that they're looking for non-retreads, is what I was told.
Starting point is 01:12:35 so they're looking for somebody at least right now who are who is like uh a new new vision fits with what the organization is i keep asking well what is that though right and they keep going yeah uh we're not going to tell anybody in the media that shake is never going to give you anything no he's good at it he's very good at it giving you nothing but okay let me say this them firing berube because the whole thing was um oh my god you know rogers is too cheap there's two years left on this deal it's eight million dollars no way they're gonna do it i always thought that might be there's a problem with that because they are willing to spend money it's just when are they willing to spend money sometimes i questioned when i worked there what
Starting point is 01:13:18 things they spent money on because they blasted a lot of money into the sun on things that i was like this is never gonna work and it never did if it's something ed wants he'll get it but guerrero jr's contract upgrading the rogers center upgrading dunedin like this these things do happen and so i'm wondering with uh and they are upgrading scotia bank arena by the way but that was a plan hatched under larry and bell and whatever but they're still paying for it still happening sure so with with regards to brube being fired i think that's check one in the sunday and shika book i think that's a that's and we have to call it as it is like it was so but i there was a chance it wasn't and we were and it was reported many times and
Starting point is 01:13:53 people are going hard at at certain insiders for this and i'm like yo like i think probably if you asked somebody in the Barube camp they'd be like yeah I think we're sticking around but the Leafs are not telling anybody anything I think Chaka and Sundin are batting a thousand right now they're one for one
Starting point is 01:14:12 yeah had one task and they did the right thing I think they bunted this one home in extra innings like this is the you still got to get the but you know how hard it is to get a bunt down yeah you're right you're right you gotta get the bunt down the bunt down I still had to take it upstairs and still to say hey you're going to blast eight million dollars into the sun unless somebody hires
Starting point is 01:14:29 berube and get sign off on it and they did now actually relating this back to cassidy so it's one coach complaining and maybe two teams complaining where this is going to become a bigger issue is when everyone starts complaining because cassidy is a very highly sought after coach and this is probably going to gum up the works this is probably going to affect a lot more than two teams and a lot more than one coach yeah you know what i mean yeah yeah that's why they haven't done it this way but yeah right but but but moving on to the leaves here because i do want to go leaves i do want to go leaves right so they the berube one to us was obvious but there was some worry in the market fed by people that that were saying hey he's not going to be he's he might
Starting point is 01:15:11 not be fired he's going to he expects to be here that sort of thing because he's keith's right hand man and keith doesn't know what he's doing what's the yeah and also yeah the keith pelly relationship what is and i think keith has done the smart thing here i hope he has where he's gone okay have hired these people now it's up to them oh my god please be can we go at least several months without seeing him again holy yeah i don't think he's gonna do any more press comments so that the next thing i want to ask is what is the next thing because this is a great hurdle but it was pointed out in the athletic and they're right there is a lot to do there's a lot to do so what's the next i mean i guess you got to talk to matthews next and get him on board it's that it's your top two
Starting point is 01:15:52 priorities are decide who you're picking one and uh austin you need an answer with austin and like i don't need this to be a long drawn out thing if it's no i want the quinn hughes treatment so rip the band-aid off can i can i there's a line that check it keeps telegraphing to us and nobody's paying attention to it and they keep putting it on leaf social media and i'm like I think he's telling us something, okay? Maybe he's Taylor Swifting us, just dropping some Easter eggs in. Players as partners.
Starting point is 01:16:25 That's a line he's used multiple times now. And they put out a social media post with him saying, literally it's called players as partners. I told you guys in the last episode, I think that Austin is causing a stink here because he was completely not included. And you know, we heard from CJ on the CJ show yesterday saying, well, there's a lot of captains
Starting point is 01:16:43 that don't want to be included. Like Crosby's been asked before, he doesn't want to be a part of it. He said that he didn't think Austin would want to be a part of some of these things. And that's maybe that's true, but I have seen many captains that do. And I have a hard time believing that they're sitting out there going,
Starting point is 01:16:58 show us the plan, but we want no involvement. That's the part. I hate that. Well, I just don't think that that's, I think it's, they do want involvement.
Starting point is 01:17:06 And I think Chike is saying, we expect actually that our players will give us feedback. And that's the involvement. I love that. I love that. I'm hoping that would be great. i'm hoping that's the doesn't it make sense yes what like how many line mates has sydney crosby gone through over his career yeah like listen i'm sorry the the idea that crosby wasn't
Starting point is 01:17:29 involved in chris kunitz being there at the olympics uh yeah yeah it's not that crosby's gonna go well why don't you offer an extra second round pick for that player i'm not talking about that no i'm talking about tell me about what's happening in the dressing room what you need i think crosby's involved like that and i think matthews has probably not been included give me the x's and o's what do you need in terms of x's and o's oh okay well i was thinking about going out and getting this player but he actually doesn't do the things that you're talking about so what about here's three guys oh okay well all three of these guys do this i like this guy the best okay we'll go out and we'll try to get that guy oh we can't get that guy okay well what about
Starting point is 01:18:10 number two let's try to get number two like that sort of thing yeah he's not in the he's not lebron jamesing this where i don't trade this man fire this coach like i don't think that's what this is gonna be you like austin has no thoughts i think where he gets the puck no i think i think and that wasn't what cj was saying either no i know i'm i'm extrapolating he has no thoughts after the year after his number one setup man is traded i think he's got thoughts he has no thoughts on where he gets the puck bullshit let us know let us help us help you unless of course you just want to frig off which also let us help you jesse drag said yesterday on overdrive that um he thinks that i thought you said drake uh drags drags drake did release the album but he was not on overdrive
Starting point is 01:18:57 um uh he said yesterday on overdrive that he thinks that uh matthews will be back with the leafs and that this is just a uh hey heads up i'm still here you got to involve me do you believe that i think austin matthews is on the leafs next season um i i think i don't think there's an avenue right now to move off of him like i think if you're chica you're coming in that shouldn't be your first piece of business i feel i feel like you have austin matthews here you try and build the team to whatever degree you can this off season you go into it next year but like trading austin at this point doesn't seem realistic even if like austin doesn't want to be here like i'm on the camp just get rid of him though but that trade's going to be so difficult to make
Starting point is 01:19:43 and disappointing how much control he has we we should talk about the other cj quote well this is where we're going oh this is where we're going yeah that's why i asked so so the the and he addressed it on the show yesterday the fact that a guy like matthew knives would have technically more market value because you can take him to more teams yeah and he explained the thought process on that and he spoke to one person in the front office who was like austin matthews is 28 years old and has a full no move full no everything he gets to control the situation it's 13.25 million dollars everybody's going to make room for austin matthews but he's controlling where he wants to go because he has that ability in his contract matthew dies is 23 we all know
Starting point is 01:20:24 what he can be in a couple years you know where his potential is going and he only makes 7.75 million that contract looks so good yeah as as life goes on and it's for another six seasons five seasons uh five five after including like coming up the season so that's a long time for a really young dynamic player so yeah there might be a better package out there for matthew knives that doesn't mean they're looking to trade either of those people uh the artemi panarin trade so there's a guy who had a full no move who makes 11.6 who went wherever he wanted which was la uh it was artemi panarin for liam green tree who's a former first round pick who i think is going to be pretty good a conditional third round pick in the 2026 draft and a conditional
Starting point is 01:21:09 um fourth round pick in the 2028 draft for the player that artemi panarin is brother that is a ridiculously low return let me tell you that blows chunks you know who got it and i think green tree is gonna be pretty good but that stinks you know who got a better return brandon carlo oh my god i take the carlo package over that oh my god especially if it was almost the sixth overall pick i'm dying well okay if you want to go to like you know who went for more than that and this is a good player but i wouldn't say there are timmy panera brock nelson brock nelson got a lot more than that yeah the the austin thing it's it's real difficult if he wants out i think if he wants out it's goodbye or i may all hold
Starting point is 01:22:06 you hostage and you'll play for me i don't know i don't know how you you navigate that situation but it doesn't seem immediate that he wants out apparently right now so no i don't think it does i don't think it does either so it is what it is i'd like to hear that from him i'm still on the hey, Austin, you got to be a better captain here. This is ridiculous that we're twisting the wind. The problem is there's nothing they can do until a year from now, right? What would you, you know, I mean, first off,
Starting point is 01:22:32 he can't say anything until they have that conversation. They haven't had it yet, right? But once they do have that conversation, if John Shaka comes back and says, we talked to Austin and here's what he said, or here's what we agreed on, and he's not going to give you much because he can't, do you then want to hear from Austin?
Starting point is 01:22:49 I think he can. I think Austin Matthews right now can say, I'm committed to the Toronto Maple Leafs and I want to be here and this is my team and I am committed to building this thing back into a contender because I love the Toronto Maple Leafs. I think he has the ability to say that and he refuses to because he doesn't want to commit. And I think the giving him the leeway to say like, oh, he doesn't know what's going to happen. He's waiting and seeing he's put out there the initial reports from Friedman and CJ that he's unsure of the future. If he could have put out at those at that moment, I am committed to the future and I want to see what this new regime is doing. And I'm here alongside them to build this team. And he has not done that. And that leaves me disappointed as a fan. So then the next thing is, let's call this what it is, okay? Unless you steal, like outright steal something. And I don't expect that to happen in today's NHL all that often.
Starting point is 01:23:49 You know, maybe these guys do make some trades and go, holy shit, like that worked out great or, you know, whatever. And we don't know until the actual games are played. To build this back into a real Stanley Cup contender is not next year. It might not even be the year after. we're talking this is probably a three-year plan and i know that they're not going to tell the media that they're not going to tell the fans that are they challenging for the playoffs next year i think they should be i think there's enough talent on the roster to do that uh i thought they
Starting point is 01:24:20 should have challenged for the playoffs this year but this is going to be the honest conversation they're going to have to have not only with themselves but with austin which is this is going to be a build back up and we're going to have to be very smart and sorry but us being a Stanley Cup contender next season if you're watching the games right now yeah there's just that's just not feasible that's just not feasible and they're going to have to make some tough decisions on how they're going to get there I think you build the team around Austin but everybody else to me feels movable and and I include William Nylander in that and I'm not saying that you're Another full no move.
Starting point is 01:24:58 You're not going to get a great trade return for William Nylander. I get that. But you've got to look at every option. I'm so scared about them not having their own first. Really? Why? Because it could be the first overall pick. Yeah, if you get rid of Matthews and Nylander and the return sucks.
Starting point is 01:25:16 I don't think they're doing that. I don't think they're doing that. I think in this plan, in their world, it's build around Austin. But what I'm saying is, okay, leave the first pick for a second. We just got out of the anxiety for the first pick. Let's leave that. Okay. Well, let's talk about the plan, though.
Starting point is 01:25:32 No, but those two things go hand in hand, because if you want to take a step back and it's a three-year rebuild for the next two drafts, you don't have the first round pick. And if you're in control of your own team and saying, okay, we're going to take a step back and be a little bad, you want to have that assurance. But that's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is I think they should be challenging for the playoffs next year, but I'm not saying they should be challenging for the Cup. for the next two years they need to stay out of the bottom 10 that's what i'm saying too yeah you gotta stay out of the bottom 10 i think they can because then you could give up like matthew schaefer yeah because the islanders i think have the 10th best odds totally totally and i'm with you we're agreed on that i'm saying that i think they should be back challenging for
Starting point is 01:26:13 the playoff spot even if they're on the outside looking in like detroit or columbus they got to be back into that range at least the mushy middle and then you've got to get find the way to step but then that's not like a three-year rebuild to become a stanley cup contender because to do that you have to bottom out like that's to build up your team to really have a long-term run at this thing the only way to get those players is to really bottom out so then this isn't this can't be like the the okay we gotta formulate things so we're good for 10 years it's got to be we're still trying to be good right now and keep going you that's what i'm saying though that's exactly what i'm saying which is i think they've got to take step forwards next year the year after in
Starting point is 01:26:58 the year after that to build themselves back up i don't necessarily agree that that's that bottom yet is the only way to to get because they have bottomed out they got the first overall pick now it's about okay what can we do this summer to build towards that is the matthew nice nobody wants to see matthew nice go no but if that gets you what if what if you chicago apparently really likes matthew nice sure what if i get you the fourth overall pick plus this year i yeah i'm listening a hundred percent right and i love matthew nice but yeah that's crazy right you know like these are the things that it's like okay is now is you've you're at the bottom out now you've got to build and i my question is how do they build and i don't think next year is a bottom
Starting point is 01:27:37 out year at all i think they've got to take a step forward back into the top 20 and then you got to start to try to work back into the top 10 this to me sounds a lot like last year because that was that was the hope with last year it's like okay we're gonna lose mitch but we're gonna bring in these pieces that'll keep us steady and then we all know how last year went yeah like that does to me that doesn't sound like a winning formula you have to so you think they bought him out i think i think it's gonna be really hard to not make this thing a longer term fix you have to be active look at the teams that are left right so vegas is obviously odd because they're uh when was their 2017 was the expansion draft but outside of the expansion draft they
Starting point is 01:28:25 don't have a ton of homegrown guys but they have an unbelievable amount of trades colorado they drafted their guys they traded for them that's how they got them uh carolina they drafted they traded uh montreal they drafted yeah drafted like got philly's got a guy like phil to know for nothing and traded right buffalo drafted and a couple of them they traded you did i miss anyone i don't think so no you got a draft you got a trade did any of those guys did i did i go you build through free agency well no it's impossible you can't do it these days you can't make smart trades though you can make smart trades you can make them all day long jayka needs to be one of the most active people uh people people one of the most active pickles
Starting point is 01:29:20 at the draft well what do you think about the vinnie trochek thing that the leafs have ruined i don't believe it you don't believe it how would how would anybody know that uh chaco wants vinnie trochek right now well because the rangers probably got a call from the leafs and then leaked it i don't probably what i don't i don't think there's any anything there no i'm not calling anyone out but overdrive's official twitter account was like darren drager said this and then you listen to the segment and darren drager's like yeah he didn't really commit to the leafs they want vinnie trochek i mean they want their next breath anybody right and like they should be calling about good descendants yeah he's available why not but yeah dragger wasn't
Starting point is 01:29:57 reporting the leafs are trading for vinnie drojek tomorrow okay like the leafs are interested in a good olympian that's crazy yeah yeah like uh i don't know it didn't move me even if it ends up happening it like it didn't move me because like yeah of course they're and what does that look like too what are you giving and apparently the the price at the deadline was insane the only thing that like looking at the leafs assets that makes even sort of sense is the colorado pick from 27 don't do that you need that pick you might need that for a bigger deal i think well it's i just i don't know i feel like you could put that to better use i think so too i don't know and you never know what will shake loose in the next few weeks too as teams get eliminated and
Starting point is 01:30:46 the market starts to kind of show they're not a lot of sellers the regular season didn't go the way a lot of people thought and the playoffs haven't gone the way a lot of people thought there's a lot of shit happening right now chris knobloch got fired what yeah like did we i did say that was gonna happen yeah maybe towards the end of the season it started to become somewhat obvious that like oh this might happen but like we mentioned earlier or i mentioned earlier i cannot believe stan bowman the morning after brett kulak scores a series winning goal got another bullet to fire a coach what are the oilers doing i don't get it but anyway as it pertains to the leafs you got a draft which is slow it's so damn slow or you got a trade
Starting point is 01:31:37 which can be pretty fast look at the avalanche they rebuilt their goalies in an afternoon pretty much or whatever it was like a week chica's gotta pick up the phone and all these gyms i'm not even gonna answer the phone i don't believe you of course you are of course you're gonna answer okay don't worry everyone thinks you're tough and everyone thinks you're john dutton and you can AI yourself into a weird Facebook John Dutton video. Okay, now answer the phone and do your fucking job, you weirdo. Two in five Canadians will hear the words, you have cancer. That's why every step and dollar raised matters. Starting point is 01:33:02 You gotta try breakfast at A&W. At participating A&W locations in Ontario. Now here's another interesting market. Vancouver unveiled their new management team, the Sedins and Ryan Johnson. And they all played together, by the way. And the Willie J. Zardan memes yesterday were very funny out of Vancouver. um but so francesco accolini came out read a prepared statement as an owner that's a very smart thing to do uh don't do not go off the cuff as an owner at a press conference ever
Starting point is 01:33:36 it's funny the conversation uh amongst ourselves was that's smart no it's cowardly no yes but it's also smart yeah that's the smart thing to do now ryan johnson said this uh he said we want our players to really understand the value of investing in the community it's so important to connect as for the media, we would like to be more transparent and accessible when the desire is there. Maybe break down a little bit of the wall that's been between the team and media, be more accessible and take responsibility for what we are doing, but be okay to talk about it and own it, which is something similar to what Keith Pelley said last year after the Leafs, you know, after he started to take full control and Shani was out. The Sedins are on, they're making the rounds now
Starting point is 01:34:19 too on Vancouver media. You have to understand, like if you don't live in Vancouver, a lot of people don't understand that that is a very plugged in very media followed market and when the team's good they're good when the team's bad people ask questions and there's a lot of people that know a lot of things and that organization does leak a little bit too so almost like the leafs in the in the east they've brought in two organizational legends in this case swedish captains two halves of the one of one man really um one gigantic and hall of fame amazing player them alternating was funny it's hilarious yeah um and ryan johnson who's got a lot of organizational credit do you think like sorry uh one of the sardines was on a radio show today
Starting point is 01:35:06 and said it's going to be different we got to change the culture we got to do you think they can do it well they have no choice no can they accomplish the goal there i think if there was ever a duo of players who could tell francesco aquilini to shit in his hat and wear it it'd be those two right no i want you to do this i want you to do that how about you let us do our fucking job how about that we're the sadin twins we got into the hall of fame together um we kept your franchise relevant for god knows how long basically on our own and no thanks to you shut up if he starts the metal right it might may not need to be that contentious and i've heard uh very good things about ryan johnson yeah yeah very good things about um how he runs a team uh how he is
Starting point is 01:35:59 as a guy uh you know what i you know what i heard he loves and i just this was just such a weird source tegan and sarah oh yeah he loves tegan and sarah that's great and i learned that from tegan apparently she was at a a radio station in vancouver doing something one day and he was just there and she was like oh like you know are you here to like record something or he's like no i just i'm a big fan oh that's cool yeah this is when i think he was a player yeah yeah um heard good things about him and the sadines are they're gods i mean they're yeah they're gods there um it's sort of the conversation we've been having with Sundin like how could you ignore his input as a player especially as a player as a coach as anyone in the organization it's Matt Sundin
Starting point is 01:36:55 in the Canucks organization how could you ignore what Henrik and Daniel have to say it's the sadeen twins you know who looks stupid you you are losing that battle every single time you know what the sadeen's twins told me can you believe those guys yes i can and you should probably do it otherwise you look like a worm what are the odds you're right and they're wrong jesse what are the sheer odds do you think the frame do you think the sadeen twins are going to be able to manage this owner it depends on how much jim rutherford's still around as if he's if he's the one who's the actual conduit between ownership like it's still going to be a little bit of trouble if they get
Starting point is 01:37:40 the ability to do what they want then it's fine like this all comes down to francesco acolini and how much power he's actually going to give these individuals or if he's going to be meddling or not if he's involved in anything it is going to be a disaster and they're not going to be able the be a competent organization but if he's actually decided to cede some power to the sadines and johnson then we're probably in a better place probably in a very good place but we'll see anytime he has anything to say hey yeah okay that's great that uh practice arena built yet no all right thanks for coming out anyway uh off to my meeting and i think if if treat just treat every conversation like jim rutherford's there and he's doing what he was
Starting point is 01:38:23 doing previously then that's just like a mouthpiece for ownership right because a lot of i believe his decision making was hearing from aquilini and managing that and and and controlling his aquilini controlling him and the organization uh that way so if if the sedins actually have power then we're good well they will at least early we'll see how far how long it lasts they're gonna have to they're gonna have to win though eventually that's that's what we talk about or that's what we mean when we talk about culture though like i were we all paying attention to what jesse just said that's insane do the sadeen twins actually have power that's a culture problem yeah and it starts at the tippy tippy top can people who are employed to do their job do their
Starting point is 01:39:12 fucking job right we're not having a conversation about do they have the right philosophy on hockey do they do the right x's and o's things do they draft well do they sign well do they trade well will they be allowed to do their job the culture starts with frank and frank alone that's a huge problem that they need to fix it's the number one thing in vancouver that'll be a challenge huge that'll be a challenge okay all right um yeah it's a it's going to be very interesting to see how the canucks obviously i wonder if the canucks and leafs do some business or something you know i mean just feels like two teams that need some shake-ups and stuff like that why not you know different priorities but and i also wonder about manny maholtra because if they're
Starting point is 01:39:57 looking for a young exciting guys in toronto like that that are coaches manny maholtra already was the assistant coach here knows the players i keep hearing neil glasberg client but is he neil glasberg well i can't i can't uh i found no evidence glasberg has a site and i don't believe Manny Malhotra is on it but I keep getting told that and also uh that apparently doesn't matter on account of Sonny Mehta is not the GM of the Leafs so right so do you think um I mean and the other thing is Adam Foote's only been the coach there for a year do they does he does Ryan Johnson save that bullet I think if you hire a new GM they should they should get a free one okay last thing last yeah i think you should too i don't know berube shouldn't count on chica's kill no
Starting point is 01:40:44 he shouldn't no this is this is them starting fresh if he hires the next coach and then fires that guy that should be his his one i think fan base gets a bullet too you know what i mean yeah that's not chica's the social media campaign did have something to do with it like the the leafs did monitor that there was like a berube out thing and uh it was written i think in a couple articles that like that made it to the to the thing and listen like nobody roots for a guy to get fired it was time to fire him but or to let him go no one said we hope he's destitute we just didn't want him to coach the team anymore all right last thing yeah canada playing at the world uh world hockey championships do you have an issue with sydney crosby joining later
Starting point is 01:41:25 celebrini being named captain and sydney now not being captain do you care at all does it move you emotionally in the slightest if sid doesn't care i don't jesse do you care does it move you emotionally in the slightest the meter's still at zero okay okay because i don't care either i also feel like hey it's good experience for the guy that might be the captain one of these olympics yeah oh like who is definitely going to be the sharks captain once that extension's announced too crosby with an a is weird does he even have that yeah i surely okay that would be weird yeah yeah if you didn't even have three a's yeah it's weird but like i understand it you also got to prep the next generation what are you gonna do strip the kid like after you
Starting point is 01:42:06 just named him wait he got the photo and nothing else did they even play a game i'm sure he asked to and sid was probably like it's okay i got it yeah we're good it was such a weird story crosby it's such a non-story about who's wearing the c at the world championship it's celebrini and it's fun because they all agreed hey let's give this kid the c and then crosby went over he's like yeah i'm gonna have fun with these guys oh now you have a passionate opinion about the world hockey championship you know what i mean stop canada sweden oh yeah you got a big poster of anson carter's ot winner on the wall shut up um canada played sweden today uh ivar stenberg was playing oh i i don't have no idea how it went and i'm not a hat trick ivar stenberg no i made
Starting point is 01:42:48 that okay all right that would be very late i don't know oh no the debates all right so we'll leave it there marley started yet yeah yes uh actually i did want to mention that so marley's third round series i think yes against the uh cleveland monsters they were down two nothing easton cowan gets the first goal of five straight marley score five straight to win game one they were heavily outshot but score effects we and ben danford got the game belt in his first ever professional game with the toronto marley's you know what maybe we should be talking about the marley's more it's it's it's difficult sometimes because it's hard to find their highlights online it's hard to find any information on it i haven't been locked in on that the ahl does make you work
Starting point is 01:43:35 for it a bit who are the other goal scorers logan shaw one ryan twerberg two i want to say a defenseman did borya valves get one nope shoot how many ass do i get no bogus you get three strikes oh i think bogru did score you got one one more uh henry thru more no damn i don't know you throw it tomorrow oh for god's sake uh barbellini no why not it went cowan marshall refi damn it i knew it was a d all right alex kneelander oh turverberg and uh booger hey pronounce it right you fuck rion to be how do you pronounce it how do you i say twerberg twerberg and no one's ever been like you're an asshole for that well you thought it was actimov and it's actiom of it's actimov i don't
Starting point is 01:44:33 give a shit it's not oh thank you adam what what hey i saw j fresh tweeted out that link there's a game there's a game you can play okay where you have an hour to name all 1100 plus players who played in the nhl oh my god that's a great game i played it and akjabov's name is not there you fuck oh yeah it's not there and i spelled it three different ways and none of them work same with nedeljkovic what the shit i should have got more and i'm pissed about it the game's rigged i had a long train ride did you forget the jay and nedeljkovic i put uh the jay and nedjdeljkovic i put the jay all sorts of places places that didn't even make sense okay yeah actually i'm gonna play three games this season he sure did you son of a gun oh i was pissed
Starting point is 01:45:30 i was at guildwood station mad as shit how many did you get uh i got yeah shout out guildwood station uh i actually took a screen cap of this and i'm proud of how i did but i should have done at least two names better uh here it is out of 1123 i got 436 i got 39 percent uh that score beats or equals 86.8% of test takers. The average score is 226. Buddy, am I going over 500? The number that I got? Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:46:04 Sorry. 436. The average is 226. Huh. You didn't get half. I know. I thought I'd get... Jesse, okay, I want you all to play this game. We should link to it because your brain turns to a puddle of shit
