Starting point is 00:01:00 hear that it's your money calling it wants a promotion elevate your savings with the scotia high interest savings account always earn high regular interest rates that grow the more you save and invest conditions apply visit scotiabank.com hisa to learn more scotia bank you're richer than you think hey this is mtv and welcome to dangle ridiculous hey everybody that was crazy in love man i it's crazy how mtv from went from playing music videos to only running rob dyrdek um what condition is that isn't that you don't know you don't know what's what's it called ridiculous jesse ridiculousness ridiculousness is with rob dyrdek on mtv yeah i thought you said rob beer dick no i said deer dick and i'm like there's
Starting point is 00:02:07 there's pills gotta clean out those ears well apparently it's danglediculousness so we're calling today danglediculousness right because it's ridiculousness right dangle ridiculousness yes it rolls off the tongue i think the gentleman steve dangle trivia how many seasons of ridiculousness are there oh my god this is going to be seven no are you serious no i don't know what that show is adam what's your guess it's got to be 20 got to be the answer is 36 wow because a season is just like a run of episodes it could be he probably does two a year who's who's the host rob deer deck i don't know who that is how have you never robin big do you remember the skateboarding show i remember and in chanel west coast yeah who's just there
Starting point is 00:02:58 if i showed you a picture of rob deer deck you know who that is that that girl that charlamagne the god was very mean to sorry i know that doesn't narrow it down very much but yes okay yes no i this guy you're talking about i like chanel he wears a lot of dc i reckon you know you know this person yeah yeah so what so jesse the format of the show is that they they play videos and then they react to them they react it's it's an old format in television yeah like um uh what's the what's the one america's funniest home videos uh now let's think of the one talk soup oh yeah the one with the guy from community love talk that was a great show um the one with the comedian who's like an internet comedian oh uh daniel tosh tosh daniel tosh yeah that one
Starting point is 00:03:39 that's the same format ridiculousness same thing they just react to valve videos on the internet i will do that i will steal that idea so we're we're doing danglediculousness now this is just videos from tiktok yeah this so i i got a bunch of tiktoks we're gonna run through as many as we can get through within the next 50 minutes and we're just gonna react to them all right i think this will be danglediculousness one and next year we'll bring it back here excuse me while i set my phone to steal all right let's go jesse you want to start with this one so this is a this is a steve dangle special some of them we will have to explain for the audience listening because they obviously won't have the visuals if you have the opportunity to watch this episode i encourage it
Starting point is 00:04:25 because it is a visual episode but this one you know the uh the person in this tiktok can take it away and they can make steve so upset should i read the caption sir why is atlanta an hour away from atlanta let's go you can never make a road wide enough to alleviate traffic scaling an inherently inefficient system makes the problem worse not better like if you sold oranges for example and lost 10 cents for every orange you sold selling more oranges makes your problem worse in the same way when you add a lane to alleviate traffic what you don't realize is that traffic reached a homeostasis it got so bad that other people started changing their behavior to avoid that road can we pause as soon as you make that you ever watch a tiktok and go that's not what
Starting point is 00:05:12 i'm here for i don't care how good this video is this isn't what i'm here for the fuck is homeostasis don't make me google shit in the middle of i don't know what that means the vast majority of people don't know what that means know your audience which is tiktok this isn't a fucking lecture man if if you can't appeal to people it doesn't matter what you're saying any idiot can make something complicated it takes a genius to make it simple sorry here talk about your homeopathic traffic whatever the fuck road wider the people who stayed home will start driving on that road again until it reaches the same homeostasis this is something known as induced demand it also happens because when you make a road wide enough that it's convenient you have
Starting point is 00:05:58 a parking problem but when you build out parking that's convenient you have a traffic problem parking and just say don't drive have this dysbiotic relationship the opposite of symbiosis this is due larger than part to the fact that cars that's the third or fourth word i haven't recognized look at how many people can be moved an hour in a car lane versus other forms of transportation so when you design a city and the only real option you give people is a car your Roads get wider and wider. Your city gets bigger and bigger. The average mile per trip increases.
Starting point is 00:06:28 And what you need to think about is each and every trip is a traffic-inducing trip. So if the average length of a trip is longer, you're inducing traffic for a longer period of time. That's why if you look at cities that have doubled down on cars, like L.A., Houston, Atlanta, they have the biggest roads and they have the worst traffic. All right. All right. Okay. I wouldn't do this while walking my dog. He's got a problem with traffic.
Starting point is 00:06:52 that's why we're leading yeah and i think that makes a lot of sense and here's what i want to say about that video is that video is awesome if you're a city planner uh or or you're at a uh a public counseling meeting on whether they should build another highway totally understand that i i'm with you on the fact that man i'm on tick tock for the lulls and that's it i don't care you know like i don't need a lesson although i i frankly i'll be honest with you maybe i do need a a lesson i do like my history lessons but the the anti the anti-driving anti-highway crowd while they have a point um and and mathematically speaking they're they're probably a hundred thousand million percent right without a doubt correct like across the board correct you said
Starting point is 00:07:33 something on a recent episode and you said it's okay not to care about everything and i don't know if that episode is up yet it's not but it doesn't really matter yeah it's okay not to care about everything i i respect this person they clearly have a ton of uh knowledge he seems like a really nice guy yeah like real like a weekend of a beer for sure i just don't give a shit like like i don't care i don't give a shit i don't care here's my problem this is something you're upset with every single day traffic oh he's right he's right especially in toronto here's the problem the the alternate the alternative stinks it stinks dude there's do you understand a lot of people in the greater toronto area have two commutes they have to commute there's a reason
Starting point is 00:08:22 like forget cities and parking getting bigger and bigger in the city the parking lots for the train are getting bigger and bigger and bigger if you are not at the oshawa go station before seven in the morning or at least this was the case before the pandemic i don't know if this is gates anymore then just sorry no taking the train for you and then if maybe before 7 37 45 you can drive from your house in curtis to whitby you might get one of the last parking uh lot spots to park in whitby Like, if there was another alternative that made sense, I would never drive again. Are you kidding me? But, like, driving downtown takes an hour and a half, which sucks and is unacceptable.
Starting point is 00:09:08 But if I, like, assuming the bus comes right outside my house in the middle of winter. On time. On time, which the bus is notoriously good for. Jesse, you take the bus every day. I take the bus all the time. I don't take it every day, but I take transit all the time because it's convenient for me. Yeah, for him.
Starting point is 00:09:28 For you. Yeah. For you. But Steve is several jurisdictions over. Yeah. Right? He's outside of the city two times. You know, it's like...
Starting point is 00:09:35 He goes pickering and then aging. I don't know about you rich guys who can just drive your cars around everywhere, but I care about the environment and the monetary state of our union. So I try and save as much money for everybody else as possible by using public transit. Yeah. how do you how do you feel about filling an entire gas tank full of your own farts and then going uh swimming in the coral reef yeah how do you feel about that enjoyable yeah i think the coral reef
Starting point is 00:10:03 wow yeah the real answer to traffic congestion is working from home you know here at sdpn people don't want to come in we're like great just do your work from home no man i think the real and if we need a meeting we go in person mandatory and then we set the meeting we send the invite i this bullshit about people not working as hard from home uh dude no are you kidding me people don't work hard from the office because you can't fill eight hours worth of work exactly you need to chill for like two hours to get your eight hours work no i have a great i have a great suggestion okay um going back in time 100 to 130 years and beating whoever designed toronto to death no that's not true no it was designed that's what i would do with the time machine
Starting point is 00:10:47 what happened that is that's that's uh that's because torontonians don't know their own history steve if you did you would know that toronto's transit system in the 1970s was perfectly reasonable for what the city was oh so i don't need to go back that far the problem was that your generation of your parents generation uh through city council decided that gary this is your fault decided that they would prefer not to spend money on transit and expanding the system And when we created, because remember, Toronto was quite small, but then when we created the megacity, which is what it was branded as, so it involved places like North York, Scarborough, Etobicoke, that were all separate jurisdictions, we did nothing for the people that live in those areas to have things expanded. So you're seeing now in Scarborough where they're trying to expand the subway one stop. Which was not part of Toronto.
Starting point is 00:11:37 that's right but but only now 30 years after the megacity are we trying to put one subway stop in and the problem is that these areas are already built they're already done yeah so so here you gotta take a 20 minute commute so you don't want to go back to the 1850s when there was like 15,000 people here it's not their fault you want to you want to go back to the 70s and tell your parents to to spend a little bit more on their taxes and and get some public transit and i'm sure that'll go over great i'll tell you this anybody that tells you that they can't build transit in a pre-existing city which is the argument we get a lot here in toronto has never been to london a city that's been around for more than 2 000 years and somehow they have a fantastic metro
Starting point is 00:12:15 and i think i think it's it's it's uh it's uh when we talk about we talk about this is a nerdy ass conversation i love driving i fucking love driving yeah i love it at all times i even love it in traffic you love driving or do you love podcasts there's a difference i love driving and i love podcasts i do like my time on my own but i'm with jesse if it's easier for me to get to let's say the only reason i have to go downtown anymore is like scotia bank you know when i'm going to my mastercard seats uh at scotia bank arena if i could take transit down there i'm taking it because it sucks taking anything else it sucks to going in an uber because it's it the traffic is crazy i'm not definitely not going to drive and spend 40 bucks on parking so excuse me
Starting point is 00:12:57 while i modify a john mulaney bit but i was like i'm not capable of murder and then i went to stockholm and saw that they have like 20 different subway lines and i went oh okay yeah this is i think i might be this is a fault of the 70s 80s and 90s toronto that did nothing to the transit system oh that's that's what happened well let's go back 50 years and write those wrongs wait we can't we're simply fucked great glad i watched we can write that wrong we're just have to we have to pay for it that's all jesse i'm gonna play a different video yeah that was a lot all right new one who's this tiktok seems sleepy do i know one of my biggest pet peeves i know you know oh i know canadians know when they see this what this means i know what she's gonna say
Starting point is 00:13:45 what means my fucking icing is stuck to the bag oh no oh yeah yeah right on right on cue no no Adam, you're gonna Can you please do a good job of describing What just happened in the video Okay, so she has a donut And she has a bag And the donut got warm And the donut is a dipped donut
Starting point is 00:14:15 So like a chocolate dip And the bag got warm And probably against the coffee And that means that the icing from the donut Which is the best part Got stuck to the bag and i've always wondered i've always wondered why we can't come up with a better system for donuts yeah i've always wondered that you know can we you know that you know who does a good job of it
Starting point is 00:14:37 is any burger joint that gives you a burger but it's in that square little container oh yeah with a little for a donut yeah do that for a donut the um the big mac box yes yeah exactly yeah i feel like that's what we need to be doing for donuts and then i think the problem is solved yeah that's well like you know how like we we also as consumers need to adapt like you know how we figured out they were putting way too much ice in our in our pot and then we said hey no ice because we're fucking geniuses and economists yes when it comes to that you need a little bit of ice yeah well you need a little bit of ice but you know you got to be specific you got to say just a little bit ice light ice yeah light ice yeah why not just say donut not in the bag that's a thing you can
Starting point is 00:15:28 do is that a thing you can do yeah you can so you know the the little tissue that they use to grab your donut yeah i see i see people all the time ask just for it like that oh yeah that's really smart yeah see there's a way so these are these are the things we need to find ways around this i like this she's right i feel for her but there are there are solutions out there see we just solved the problem we just solved the problem guys what's your favorite donut shop we did it um there's a little bakery up the street from my house yeah i think it's just called see the problem with small towns is the bakery is just called the bakery like it's literally just like called doug's bakery i don't even yeah yeah and the sign's a little bit old it's a little bit
Starting point is 00:16:08 warm but it's it's good in there and when you walk in it's 40 000 degrees yeah it's yellow but you could tell it used to be white that's right um oh you know what man what's the bakery uh by it's in scarborough it's off of port union um crying out loud across my cross the street from me where they made the best jamaican patties you've ever had in your life best jamaican patties they also had the gingerbread cookies that were sesame street characters yep and they've been making donuts since i was literally a little boy yes great donuts there damn it i i have i've searched and jesse i'm gonna ask you the same question i have searched my whole life yeah my favorite donut in the world is a chocolate glaze donut tim hortons is the only one who makes it
Starting point is 00:16:48 properly because nobody gets the glaze all the way around the donut so tim hortons for me because i love a chocolate glaze what's yours jess crispy cream oh has a donut where the inside is this cream filling it's it's a chocolate donut looks like a boston cream but the inside isn't the regular boston cream filling it's like an icing cream filling and it's my favorite donut uh see i like that uh jesse both you guys are just on twitter and stuff no no no because i gotta send you i i need you to look at i need you to oh my god here bring up port union bakery just google it so i don't have to send you the link because i'm fucking stupid port um no because i need to show people the sign i don't know how to describe it's actually called port union bakery it's called
Starting point is 00:17:37 port union bakery but when you see the sign on the outside no no no what do you want me to go to google and just go to hold on here i got this picture comes up yeah but that doesn't that's not on the screen yeah it's not do you want this one yeah okay hold on there you go look at that sign there's not a chance a place with a sign that looks like that makes bad donuts nope not a chance that was the whole point that was the whole point it's got everyone makes their you're very right you're absolutely right yeah oh and we're gonna have like a mascot no that give me that and that family has owned it for generations they're first generation canadians and they are uh they it's a filipino i think yeah and they make
Starting point is 00:18:24 the best jamaican patties and they make incredible like even just their buns we should just go in there and get like a bun like a baguette or something to just eat that i think you're forcing me to go there on the way home i think you yeah we should i've done it yeah where is it it's at port union in lawrence where steve and i grew up i actually lived across the street from there because i worked on the shoppers drug mart which is like four street four uh oh yeah things down and i used to roll out of bed hung over uh when i was like 16 17 years old and like be there for my 6 a.m shift and then as soon as that place opened we were in there smelling like last night trying to get some food because we were so hung over and thank god for the port union bakery the
Starting point is 00:19:00 thai place in that plaza is crazy it's so good so good all right jesse let's give us the let's do the next one you gotta give a second all right oh no there you go all right i think we got a good one here i think this is going to be controversial i i don't want to hear anything she has to say if it's not where to buy that shirt it's a good shirt i want her reese's pieces shirt let's go reese's peanut butter cup shirt um y'all want to see some crime so i'm at dollar rama dollar rama so you know i see a 150 two dollars on my cute whatever inflation you want to see what i see at the dollar store so i saw these like countdown things where it's Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:19:41 No, wait. You can't even see the Christmas. Anyways, so clearly it's not even properly made. And guess how much? Days miss. We need some time. Take your guess. It is $20,000.
Starting point is 00:19:53 Oh, my God. No. What? For this? At Dollarama? Whoa. Adam, inflation that. Handcuffs.
Starting point is 00:20:08 Handcuffs immediately. i want to show you what it looks like this fucking thing that's 20 dollars handcuffs okay that that's not even glued on properly the numbers go one two three snowflake five six seven for everybody listening it's the it's it's like a it's like a moose with a christmas hat on and a nice little scarf and he's got a he's he it looks like he's bubbling a christmas tree uh looks like it's made out a cardboard and uh and it's got a and uh and he's got like a it's got like a calendar on it but it's it's literally the fanatics of christmas decorations it's like it's it's not done right you can't even see the word christmas um and she's like what is it for this because you know
Starting point is 00:20:51 you know that you remember the the tiktok or the tiktok thing uh the live laugh love house yeah yeah this is a live laugh love decoration for sure and twenty dollars for it is at dollarama dude dollarama should be forced to change their name the dollar store dollarama all of them um the store should be forced to be called this is cheaper than most yeah i would go to hey this is cheaper than most but don't call yourself the dollar store when you sell 25 dollar pieces of brock ass plywood what is that now i listen i'll be honest with you about the dollar store i love the dollar store me too i love the dollar store having a kid and having dollar store stuff is the best because you best you can like you can get so much stuff especially for summer like water guns
Starting point is 00:21:39 and like soft frisbees so they don't you know when they inevitably like hey i'm going to teach you to throw a frisbee and my daughter who has zero coordination is like her hand goes up five minutes after the frisbees hit her in the face um uh you know that that kind of stuff like that is it's amazing for that like sidewalk chalk and coloring books and stickers man also loves dollar store stickers the gt boutique giant tiger giant tiger yeah the dollar m is good for kids stuff because kids cycle through things so quickly that you don't you can't invest in kids stuff because they're going to be done with it in like a month yeah so if you can get the the two dollar shit like it's perfect it's the best by the way if you're uh if you're a parent or soon to be don't
Starting point is 00:22:18 buy expensive furniture not until your kid's at least six or seven years old don't don't do that oh no do not buy investment pieces until later because there's too many crayons and markers and sticky hands and and peanut butter you just don't need it you don't need it we had two 80 pound dogs and we didn't have any kids yet but we wanted to and my wife wanted like an off-white couch i was like what's wrong with you yeah yeah no that's so anyway we didn't get it yeah no i think you put your foot down in the right situation yeah i was just like now normally when oh i'll get down i'll get the cleaner stop normally when he puts his foot down it doesn't work no you don't win every argument my friend no but that was every the majority of them i thought you got it i was i
Starting point is 00:22:59 was fully prepared for steve to say so we bought the couch yeah like no well no you know it's funny we now have one dog and a toddler and we have an off-white couch but it's in a room that we're never in it's the it's the front it's the front sitting room that no one uses yes the couch that we use every day is dark and like do you understand because we have a three-year-old we'll just walk in the room and iggy is going to town licking the shit out of the couch because it's covered in peanut butter don't bring your child with a peanut allergy to our house they'll just break out in hives the moment the door opens that's you know and it's funny you're in the air hits their face um your uh uh your wife is a kindergarten teacher i would have thought
Starting point is 00:23:41 peanut butter would be banned in your home well can't have any she doesn't bring it to school we have uh we have the um i don't know if you know this but uh you can't get it at the dollar store unfortunately uh because i used to get my peanut butter from the dollar store because i am that cheap and i don't mind uh but the there is no no peanut peanut butter that tastes like peanut butter and they give you stickers so you put it on the lunch bag or the lunch thing so that if the teacher spots it it says hey by the way there's no peanut butter in this you don't put it on the sandwich but you put it inside the lunch box leo will just have a spoon of peanut butter yeah he'll ask for a spoon of peanut butter or a spoon of untella do you know what women do that
Starting point is 00:24:18 oh yeah it's a fucking scoop of peanut butter it's better than ice cream now do you do do you guys do the peanut butter with the oil that you have to mix up or do you have a natural one that one's good yeah actual one is it's good at you get really like into it right yeah yeah give it a good stir when you originally get it you make me work for my peanut butter no all right i've done it before and i was like you know what's better when i didn't have to do this next up we get a visit to Coach Chippy. Let's go! This is, the caption reads,

Starting point is 00:26:38 heard any of you like just looking around the locker room i'm like i've never heard any of you refer to it as clear i know i know it's it's clear oh i always forget clear just ask for tape you're 35 chippy by the way just ask for tape chippy's got to be him and like austin alexander and tom stewart some of these guys are so yeah talented they are so good and they capture what it is to be a hockey player or in the in the hockey like the hockey families like one of my favorite ones is austin alexander's tiktok with tom stewart and they're they're standing and they're like i don't know rangers like like one of those gthl teams it's like a rangers thing and they're like you know we know you've driven all the way up here to bruce county which by the way in toronto
Starting point is 00:27:18 to bruce county is like at least two and a half hours but your your kid's been dogging it can't can't play tonight and it's like the coaches because i remember my coaches telling parents he's not playing tonight because he's been dogging it in practice or he told one of the coaches to f off or whatever it was and and the parent reaction of i've just driven two and a half hours after my long ass day at work to get my kid to this game and they're gonna sit with me in the stands and they're like it's such i don't know if you've seen that tiktok guys but it is unbelievable it's so perfect tom a lot of people don't know this but tom edited most of if not all of the trade tree videos oh wow he's amazing and he's amazing like just talking to him i'm like what are you what
Starting point is 00:28:02 are you doing editing this stuff well they're they're like he's incredible at it but like he belongs in front of the camera he's so good so good and he's getting that opportunity now he's incredible so i got the chance to go to uh i forget what it was it was it was a actually it was a uh the official wine of the toronto maple leafs uh hired me for an influencing job and uh those guys were there and i finally got to tell them like guys i'm such a huge fan like if i actually like geeked out a little bit and it was a little embarrassing because i'm older than them um uh and like they're like oh yeah we like we listen to the show whatever no you're almost like and i'm like i've got my 5 000 followers on tiktok because i never post on tiktok

Starting point is 00:30:05 guests are gonna react when they come over i think i know what this is this is a classic what is it with parents and they think especially like it's i think it's more of a mom thing oh it's like your house if somebody's coming over your house has to look like no one has ever lived there i don't and if it doesn't look like that guests can't come over oh let's be honest it's fully about judgment yeah it's fully about your parents don't want to be judged for how you really live you know we because you want when you have guests over it's like i want you i want you to think of me in a really like in a great way so the way i'm gonna i'm gonna i'm gonna make you feel like i'm gonna make you feel like shit because my house is gonna be so much cleaner
Starting point is 00:31:09 than the house you just left but it's not a reality not a reality at all of how you live day to day not at all i i am a homeowner a father taxpayer voter 35 nearly 36 so is my wife when her parents are coming over she still says my parents are coming over later make sure you close the bedroom door like they're not gonna make a beeline for their grandchild they're just gonna no like this dick dog you're gonna run upstairs look in your bedroom and be like why is the bed put away your socks put away your socks to the laundry to the laundry hey chris bosh you freaking missed your undies in the laundry put away the laundry can i can i say something too what always blew me away is getting yelled at by my parents to clean up last minute
Starting point is 00:32:02 yeah or and actually my parents wouldn't even my parents were like prepared if people were coming over we were washing floors like the day before and then we washed them the next day because we had a short hair white dog and so he would just he was like a snow globe wherever he went max just just just just hair everywhere and they would be your parents are so mean right up until the people show up and then they're so kind to you oh yeah oh yeah your parents are just they're just giving you shit right up until you're like i know in 10 minutes you're gonna have to pretend Is this a doorbell ring? There are new people.
Starting point is 00:32:34 You're looking at them like, yeah. And they got their arm around you. You're like, you traitor. Also, they're making it seem like you don't have a dog. Like, what, are they going to treat them like old yeller? Like, listen, we have guests coming over, so listen, we're going to go dog shopping next week. What are you doing? We have a dog.
Starting point is 00:32:53 They have hair, and it regenerates. Just live with it. What's different? Jesse, Jesse, we're coming over to Steve's house on the holidays. right yeah yeah we'll take a visit go see leo give him a little smackaroo on the forehead yeah smackaroo children are you cleaning up are you are you cleaning up for uh his sdp uncles no you're not so yeah you are are you cleaning up yeah probably no so i've uh i've developed this annoying habit from working at the zoo where i have to pick something up the second i see it
Starting point is 00:33:29 unless it's closed in my room mom and dad but other than that yeah the way your house is right now as you are sitting here in toronto and it's back in ajax it is not how it's going to be when adam and i come over no it's going to look like we just bought a new build it's house of home house at home yeah we might throw out all our and that psychological terror that inflicts on people it's so weird like and i'm guilty of it too i'm saying a hundred percent my place isn't how it looks when people come over i would guarantee that most couples couples probably fight the most when you know you got you know there's there's some there's tension in the family like let's say there's bills you know somebody's not doing well and when people are
Starting point is 00:34:13 coming over those are the those are the fights that people have and it's it's funny so natalie is perpetually like people are coming over even though nobody's coming over so she is perpetually like what if somebody saw this and i'm like oh what what if man what what if what would happen what could happen and she's i don't even want to think about it i'm like nobody's over she's like but if somebody could as soon as i get home i'm slamming the door behind me and i'm saying to my wife we're never going to adam and natalie's ever again that's right that fear that natalie has it's kind of it's creeped up on me now that because we have there's a curling place near where we live and my girlfriend's mom curls there so like occasionally every couple months we get a
Starting point is 00:34:54 random hey i just finished curling i'm gonna pop by oh no if the place isn't clean and her and my girlfriend's mom's coming over i'm like i'm panicking right from the bond spiel to the bonfire now i had it all cleaned up now the place has to be at least presentable at all moments because i might get a 10 minute heads up that there's a pop by after curling see we don't do the one thing i'll say is that uh i don't do poppins well and my wife does not do poppins you gotta you gotta schedule time i don't do poppins with my family there is a there is a distinct boundary there if you pop we will just well if people try to pop it i'll be like i'm not home and i don't i don't like a poppin do not pop in don't pop in no poppin you have a closed
Starting point is 00:35:38 door policy yes absolutely so steve's in the neighborhood and he's like adam i'm him around the corner can i come up we'll go for a coffee oh he's not coming not coming up i'll tell you why i'll tell you why i tell you why it's because it's because i want to retain that little bit of of peace that i have no because because life right now is kind of crazy you know we got a we got our own business i got a four and a half year old i'm divorced did you know that i don't think that means anything you're mentioning that for the first time there's so much going on then i'm like if i am at home alone or am i i'm at home with natalie or i'm at home with natalie and everly that is our time yeah and you're interrupting that you're all seeing if i got
Starting point is 00:36:21 time for you otherwise we'll get in the calendar thank you very much you're the living embodiment of that sebastian maniscalco bit i don't know if i've heard that one it's i've i know but i know being italian you have to know his bits off i have to but but like he said this bit i mean the the annoying thing about italian comedians is they'll be like hey have you ever followed by something that you remember vividly and sebastian maniscalco was like yeah you know when you were younger like people would just pop by he'd be together with family and then someone would pop by oh joey's here joey come on in pull up a seat here get joey some coffee and like i remember that at my known as house
Starting point is 00:37:05 oh yeah we'd be having a family get together and then more people would come over because they were in the neighborhood and now i can't even imagine see i think that's a part of italian culture i could tell you as a wasp we don't do that my parents don't play like like there's a reason i said my nona's house and not my grandma and grandpa's friends the show like the bane of your existence i think where their doors are just unlocked and you're running around and so if we were all single with their shoes on in our 20s with their shoes yeah that's an american thing get what kind of godless behavior americans with the shoes on i don't know like bring in all that dirt from outside into your home we have we don't even have a outdoor shoe policy at our offices
Starting point is 00:37:43 so no no we we have like we have uh shoes we switch into from outside to inside you can't wear your outdoor shoes around these there's studios there's a uh an interview i did years and years and years ago with a former classmate at ryerson of mine named gwen elliott and i thought she did a great job with the interview but all the comments are why do you both have your shoes off because you can see us in our socks yeah almost all the comments are i don't understand they're americans who don't have their shoes off yeah i don't get that at all that's all i'm saying the friends that must be you must hate that so i'll say this i'll say this if we okay let's say it's the three of us right and we all genuinely i see you guys have had you guys have been through
Starting point is 00:38:24 two weddings with me already and uh and each time had i had a had i had groomsmen in the second wedding you guys would have been groomsmen in the second wedding i only had to give one speech yeah i figured i figured that one speech was enough all the nice things i said during the first speech i just scribble out the the name just yeah he's great i think adamant natalie great together and i know that adam and natalie will have a great life yeah forever and ever it's the old simpsons bit yeah the denver broncos so so uh you know if i if i hadn't had like a super secret surprise wedding steve and jesse would have been my my groomsmen my best men um the second time just like you were the first time um and and so if it was us and we were in our 20s
Starting point is 00:39:15 and we're living in apartments across the way from each other i wouldn't care if you guys dropped it because when you're in your 20s and you're single like uh like a mad dog over there you're cool with because you got time you got time you get time to burn okay guys how much time how much free time steve do you have nowadays i shouldn't be here right now and this is my job you got shit to do i got shit to do jesse how much free time do you have i got tons i got tons of free time okay when the kids if there's ever a kid it's a free time this is this the kid does i hate i hated this when i didn't have a kid but now that i've lived it i'm like damn it everybody was right i'm so excited for dad jesse dad dad oh jesse's already moving into dad stage oh i know
Starting point is 00:39:56 jesse's gonna be thermometer he doesn't even need it to be a dad but he's moving in i'm gonna have so much free time when i have a kid jesse i'm gonna make it you're gonna be a thermostat dad a thermostat dad yeah i'm a thermostat dad you're you're big time thermostat dad where you're gonna be like no turn down the thermostat oh yeah no like right now i control the thermostat okay so okay can i i got the google nest going are you a hot thermostat guy or a cold thermostat guy what do you mean just some some dads are like it's too goddamn too and it's always got to be goddamn yeah uh too goddamn cold in here it's too goddamn hot in here for me it's always too goddamn hot so always do i during the summer uh i i keep it really cold and then during the winter
Starting point is 00:40:37 i keep it uh pretty pretty like toasty in my guy level i think my guy right there but for me it's usually a dungeon in here because of you so i like to go home to a cold warm house i like i like the uh the nest where you get like the automatic controls and it's just like there's like an eco mode where i'll set to like 17 overnight like i don't don't touch the fucking automatic shit that's saving me money on the hydro like let that thing run down to 17 and then back up to like 20 and then 21 throughout the day and yeah i got one for you guys what's up okay my buddy dan okay who i met through natalie dan doesn't use the washing machine or the dishwasher until after nine o'clock because that's when the old wives no no he saves like two or two he's he's like i saved like two
Starting point is 00:41:24 hundred bucks a month two dollars no no if you're in if you're if you're in certain hydro regions they have peak hours and off peak hours especially during the summer months when ac is running all the time yeah and if you use hydro at certain hours it's cheaper on your bill it is an actual thing at my ass now here's i'm turning it on you can set your bill to benefit you if you if you use your hydro more at certain hours so here's the thing hundred percent he works at ontario hydro there you go son of my gun yeah that guy knows this he knows he knows and he does he's he's ardent about it you can't get him to move on it he yeah it's crazy good for him yeah run that dishwasher overnight okay i know i'm gonna disturb you while you're sleeping you're good
Starting point is 00:42:02 this is a react to tiktok's episode like this is making me think we should do like an eight hour live stream this summer where we all have white new balance shoes and look at the lawn i'm down don't say a word to each other down hey and this episode is brought to you by better help we've talked about our mental health often on this show and you know frankly over the last few years there's been a lot of reasons to why what happened exactly uh we're wondering about that about the last half decade honestly um better help is a great place for you to take a second have an outside party look at you look at your life you can explain things you can talk things out and what's great is that they're interested but disinterested as in there are they're a neutral
Starting point is 00:42:43 party they can help you with things right i'm still i'm just getting back on track i thought you talked about throwing an actual party outside no but it's cold no exactly no i'm talking about somebody coming into your life and going hey how can we make things a little bit better for you so you can get through each day and and get closer to the happiness that you want better help is a great place to do it and we're offering a really great spot a really great deal visit betterhelp.com slash sdp today to get 10 off your first month find your bright spot this season with better help that's better help help.com slash sdp all right you guys just look at the wall this is a quick one it's a little chuckle but one of steve's favorite creators on the internet let's go usa
Starting point is 00:43:26 USA, Cedric Highsmith, straight fucking gas. No change-up, no curveball, nothing but fucking gas. I love that guy. I've been teaching Leo how to throw, and I've taught him to yell, straight gas, whenever he throws. And when he hits the baseball, he goes daddy that was a moon shot and i go yeah it was leo if it if it goes low he goes that was a great hit but if it goes up moon shot daddy and i'm like yes it was kid you know what i like
Starting point is 00:44:05 about leo's swing too he's got a nice flat swing he comes when he does hit it oh yeah comes through the ball like some like that what they teach you in baseball and jesse would know this better than i do is not come in at an angle you want it you want it it's it just comes whoosh it's beautiful Oh, he knocked over the tree. See how great it was? It knocked over this Christmas tree. That was all Leo. He's my inspiration.
Starting point is 00:44:26 Leo, I always teach him left foot forward because he's a righty. And like, because he just stands, like if the T is right there, he just stands square to the T, which you can't do. No, no. But it's great when I teach him something
Starting point is 00:44:40 and he's like, why is dad telling me to do this? And then he takes a swing and cranks the damn thing. And he's like, my dad is a genius and I'm going to the bigs. and when i make it there i'm gonna buy my dad a cottage and then we're gonna buy the white house yeah we've been doing a lot of mr dean lately when does it end when do your kids start resenting you uh leo's three so uh four yeah everly everly has already hit me with a couple fine oh no and i'm like i'm like we don't talk to me like that oh i'm like you can go do that to your friends but
Starting point is 00:45:13 i'm your dad and then she'll she'll uh because natalie sometimes will be like adam and then she'll say she'll say adam to me and i i said i had to sit her down the other day and be like listen my name to you is dad i have earned the name dad oh i am dad or i am daddy maybe even father if it's the 18th century so i think i think i've gone too far in the sympathetic direction where uh you know because i i like to when i make a mistake i go uh sometimes daddies make mistakes and and my wife will go oh silly daddy and then leo will go yeah steven you do not call me steven no i'm dad oh my god shit don't you disrespect there will be respect there's hierarchy in this house leo says that yeah well then you go i am not steven and then
Starting point is 00:46:05 he starts giggling and going steven and running around the house and going steven and then you're like hey and then he's like play hockey with me and you're like okay you might be raising a little hell raiser uh yes like that's i think they're mocking you and then running around the house his favorite sport is running steve is it okay if i ask you and it's okay if you say no i don't want to talk about it uh i have the fourth most agency in my house no no not even that not even that is that here's here's how here's how by a mile leo's leo's got them wrapped around his finger because we thought uh steve's wife sl who is who is scottish and is also very just like she we thought she'd be the disciplinarian doesn't hasn't turned out that way oh and so and she's
Starting point is 00:46:52 a kindergarten teacher so therefore great with kids yeah and she and you have to do what to get leo to go to bed uh what's your routine we have like once he's into bed how many stories how many songs uh three books three songs usually preceded by a game of hide and seek where he sucks at hiding he's i find him every time and uh you hide and see every time i didn't see songs in three books three stories three songs uh night night leo night night night night i love you god bless you i'm so proud of you and then he has to push me and i have to fake like be like whoa like this is a lot thrown out of the room because he's so strong and he thinks it's funny and then he tucks himself into bed because he can't be under the blanket when he pushes me he has to get up he's
Starting point is 00:47:46 tiny and uh he hugs his teddy bear beau bichette and then goes to sleep now what's the eta on on bedtime too long how long uh it's honest to god like at least 20 minutes wow and that doesn't include like like oh he's got to brush his teeth getting the clothes on is he putting his own clothes on yet fuck no yeah so i started that on his boots i put started that about four years old now she's got it he started with the easy stuff like his boots his jacket his hat um he could do his underwear but he's he's lazy oh they were all lazy it's okay don't worry yeah you know what mine is he's very selective about when he's a big boy and when he's a little boy here's mine it's spartan are you ready we're going i i when she's when it's time to go to bed
Starting point is 00:48:34 i say okay it's five minutes once the five minutes are up okay go to the bathroom brush your teeth she puts her own toothpaste on the toothbrush gets up does the thing pillow all right and and the pajamas already laid out for her including the diaper she gets dressed up and then she goes daddy i'm ready and then we go in we read one book and then i tuck her in and i do this thing with i go like we i push her into the the bed oh it's like that's a true tuck in right yes and then uh give her a kiss good night and that's it 10 minutes you fucker not even 10 minutes you are and i don't even do most of it now just saying don't uh see steve been domed you've been dominated oh i know i've been very dumb i got it all right another tiktok
Starting point is 00:49:16 so this one uh it'll require a little description but it's a man on a plane and uh i won't describe it before it happens and we can describe it after let's let's watch what is this game guess who Is he playing a stranger at Guess Who? He's looking around. They're playing Guess Who with strangers on the plane. I didn't even know you could do that. I wonder what airline that is.
Starting point is 00:50:04 And the guy was right behind him, and he's looking over his shoulder at his answers before he gets going. Because the guy got the guess who on one guess. And he's like, what the fuck just happened? That's funny. That's really funny. Oh, God.
Starting point is 00:50:21 I played... You're not cheating. You're not trying. We flew British Airways on the way home from Sweden. And I got to play Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? But I got screwed because it was the British version. Oh, God. And so it's like frigging George S.
Starting point is 00:50:39 Pennyfeather was the lead actor in watch Pennyfarthing film. And I'm like, I don't fucking know. Yeah. Which BBC ITV joint spectacular. Yes. Something with Macy Gray. Like, I don't know, man. She's still huge there.
Starting point is 00:50:54 Next up, we got story time. Oh, let's go with this TikToker. It's a quick one. 15 second story time. This video is for Bailey. you work downtown toronto as an intern at a music label and i just want you to know that you deserve to be getting paid you've been there for way too long and you need to speak up for yourself or you need to threaten to leave so that they can start paying somebody overheard a conversation on the
Starting point is 00:51:19 oh oh my oh my that is uh that's some tea it is i'm always uh i that one i wanted more information i always like uh the ones where it's like hey girl you don't know me but if you're out there your husband is cheating on you or something like that yeah yeah no i needed more and there There needs to be more meat on that bone. She needed a longer story time. I think she could have picked up more details than what she got. Yeah. You can only pick up so much from listening in on somebody's phone call.
Starting point is 00:51:55 That wasn't story time. That was subject of an email time. Yeah. You know what? I need more. All right. Two in five Canadians will hear the words, you have cancer. That's why every step and dollar raised matters.

Starting point is 00:52:48 Starting with just $1 all day Every day now until December 31st You gotta try Breakfast at A&W At participating A&W locations in Ontario Do you want this TikToker's opinion on Tall girls and tall guys
Starting point is 00:53:06 I want to hear your opinion on Tall girls and tall guys Yeah let's go First, she is a relatively tall girl, and this is her gripe with the way the dating pool has been going. I'm going to need the short girls to start dating the short kings. Please. I'm begging you. If you're 5'4", a guy that's 5'9 is still 5 inches taller than you.
Starting point is 00:53:27 5 inches taller than me is 6'5". Holy shit. Okay, 5'9 might not be tall for the earth, but he's tall for you. Just do me a solid, man. Stop snatching up all the prime real estate. i saw a girl that's five two dating a guy that's six eight how does that even work you're gonna give that man back problems like is he squatting down to hug you like i squat to hug my toddler like please i six three is like tall for me so i have a very limited pool to choose from here
Starting point is 00:53:57 date the short kings please it's easier for you it's impossible for me thank so she wants uh i I believe the term is D-1 children. We're waiting for a scholarship here. She is six feet tall. And you know what's funny, though? I know a few really tall girls. Almost all of them are dating ridiculously tall men. and their kids come out and they like look cutesy and everything with their little oshkosh overalls
Starting point is 00:54:39 but i know when they grow up it's gonna be like now we go in we kill no more talk like friggin uh whatever that movie is i don't know i only know the line from south park but they're they're going to be six foot 14 yeah probably and you and you could tell so i think i understand where she's coming from like should my wife be with me she's five foot nothing i'm under six feet tall but i'm ten and a half inches taller than her all right what i'm i'm nearly a foot taller than her yeah really whenever sl gives me a hug wow right at the chest level she's five she's actually she's five foot nothing and a half now i didn't realize it was that big of a gap now the person most guilty of this is is jesse's partner what's that uh because how hogging how tall is hogging you
Starting point is 00:55:33 according to that girl probably five four and you are six four yeah or a straight up foot yeah she this this tiktoker the gabby is a person that she's complaining about yes yeah she took me from the tall girl dating pool what's your problem gabby yeah this is exactly what she doesn't want and from her perspective i 100 get that i get it because like that's the biggest minority would be tall girls right so like and then so their dating pool is so much smaller i also i also want to say this um it's okay to date somebody a little shorter than you it's okay no that's a hot take i think it's okay i think it's okay now i didn't realize how much it had become a thing until i got divorced and went back on the dating apps there were girls that were like if you're like
Starting point is 00:56:20 in the first sentence of their bio on like bumble or hinge you'd be like if you're not six feet tall swipe left i'm not interested that is a crazy thing to say girls don't want guys that are shorter than them and i think you wouldn't believe what people say publicly on there oh i know like it's like there were there are the girls that were like if you're a single father i'm not interested oh wow and i would rather be to be honest with you i'd rather know i'd rather know i'd rather you tell me like i don't i don't take offense to that if you don't want because i get what comes with that there is potential for like do i even like their kid do i like the way they parent is their baby mama drama is there all this all the other stuff that you don't want to deal with i
Starting point is 00:56:58 get it i get it no i i don't one of my favorite subreddits is the tinder subreddit so i can read what people write what that's like like jesse like years ago before you met gabby you were on tinder and i was shoulder tindering because i was like this is fascinating it's a good time and i wake up every day thankful that i missed out on that shit because that's it seems like a nightmare it can be fun it seems horrible people make people make it worse i think than it is i i if i've always had the opinion if you don't like me i don't like you either like why would i waste my time on on somebody that doesn't like me there's plenty of people that will and and so i think people take rejection on dating apps personally where they shouldn't because it's like if if
Starting point is 00:57:43 you're not a fit you're not a fit um and it's you know what's funny is is dating apps have come up become a little bit like facebook marketplace and i don't know if you've ever tried anything on sell anything on marketplace which i've done tons of times people be like hey and you're like hey and they're like you want to go out you're like sure when never hear from them again that happens all the time i thought you meant like you know hey i'm looking for someone who's six foot two best i could do is five foot five like that's that to me is the dating equivalent of facebook market i'll throw this at you natalie is five nine i'm five eleven so when she puts on you made it what's that you barely made barely made it when i when she puts on heels she's taller than me
Starting point is 00:58:20 and some guys what's that how tall are her damn well she's like you know a two inch three inch heel adam you gotta you gotta put on those kanzuri shoes i guess so yeah that's right i don't care i think it's great uh i've always dated women that were about or close to my height i've always like every girlfriend i've had has been tall um yeah now that you mention it you know like every single one that you've met uh so i don't i guess i've never really thought about it but maybe maybe i'm like her maybe i only want tall people too i never thought of it that way did you put your height in your profile no no but they'll just ask wow they'll ask they'll ask what you do um if if somebody comes at you and people do this and they ask you what you make uh then it's an automatic
Starting point is 00:59:04 like unmatched goodbye uh but it it certainly uh the other problem for me was that both times i was on people be like oh i listened to your show and i'd be like oh and then cool thanks for me that was an i i feel bad for those people it was an automatic unmatch because i felt like not because that they were bad people but i just would prefer not to not to have to get that out of the way first i i am comfortable saying i can't explain why that's weird but it is thank you very much take care yeah yeah does that make sense yep i just feel like i i just don't like there was something about it and i couldn't i could never put my finger on it nope yeah anyway all right um last one here oh this is a good one uh hey it's it's steve and i'm adam oh no oh boy how do we
Starting point is 00:59:55 approach this okay so this is early uh and we hear that you tom play in men's leagues four nights a week which is four nights admirable that's him that's somebody who goes hard uh-huh but what we didn't understand was carly also says that you come home covered in victory glitter all the time and i didn't know what victory glitter was and we'll get to it in a second and we we thought that was interesting and steve was like well people who come home in victory glitter that usually means the strip club right well i don't i don't think that's what i called it adam i think i called it the rippers right which is the name of your team and i'm just i didn't listen tom I think Carly sounds very understanding.
Starting point is 01:00:41 Yeah, she sounds like an awesome girlfriend. Awesome? Yeah. Or fiance? It doesn't specify. Possibly wife. No idea. Possibly friend.
Starting point is 01:00:50 Possibly sister? We don't know. We don't know. Also, this is supposed to be a pep talk. Oh, it's supposed to be a pep talk? I don't know. Do you need motivation? You're playing hockey for nights a week.
