Sometimes life throws your curveballs and you don't have time to get to them and that's where
TaskRabbit comes in and I think you should check this out because here's the deal.
One of the things, one of the weird quirks about my condo building is that they use my floor
to repel down and clean all the windows but they never clean my windows.
And their way around on that is like, well, it's a patio window, you can do that yourself.
And I'm like, well, hang on a second.
What if I don't want to?
I don't have the stuff because you got to have that scraper thing and the washer thing.
The chemicals, you got to have the right chemicals.
see what i'm saying that's why i used task rabbit and i employed a tasker here's the thing task

the steve dangle podcast with your host steve dangle adam wild and jesse blake
let's go all right let me ask you something waking up this morning do you want to work for
the leafs organization or the king's organization let me run you through the stats first before you
answer your question that's a deceptively tough one now the leafs have come out of the olympic
break and they have been outscored nine to one in two consecutive games um the kings have come
out of the break and they've been out scored 14 to 5 they've scored three goals the leafs scored
three goals oh sorry nine to three then oh okay the kings have come out of the break and they've
been out scored 14 to 5 my own so i saw that yeah they so uh after the leafs game against tampa
i want to say at second intermission the kings were up 2-1 what the hell happened i know they
lost six four i know i know it's it's bonkers and um the leafs just to add to it have two
regulation wins in their last 14 games oh should they sell well i don't know we'll come to that
we'll come to that the leafs are like i know and no disrespect to the pains that king's fans are
going through maybe that's growing pains maybe they should flip panarin for more assets who knows
but damn uh second year in a row that'd be crazy well second second week in a row yeah well no i
mean like that because that's ranting in style oh yeah the the thing that every nerd talked about
for years uh it never happens it finally happened uh the leafs are comically bad wow and the first
two games out of it i think austin matthews said last night he's like i think we need he's like
it's less about concern more about having more desperation in the room and they asked william
Nylander. What do you think about the potential of them selling at the deadline? And he's like,
it's not my decision. I'm just going to give all I have on the ice. But I want to start the show by
turning your attention to a nice little bait and switch that the Maple Leafs organization
has tried to pull. See, here's the thing. They think they got you under hypnosis.
and um i think they're full of it okay and i think we are in the midst of them trying to
change the narrative right under your nose okay and appear intelligent oh oh that's good so
going into the break the leafs had won three straight games on the road i think was calgary
edmonton vancouver right and um and then they go into the olympic break and of course because the
season's been bad no one really remembers the three wins we're right we're focused on canada
we're focused on the u.s we're focused on all that stuff no one cared right no one cared but
all break long every insider told you the same thing to a man it said the leafs are
gonna say sit and wait they're not sure they're not sure and they're gonna see what happens in
the first two weeks back now as i pointed out on my stream on wednesday night the leafs have
games or had games against tampa and florida right and now they've got the senator saturday
night which steve is streaming yep flyers on monday devil's wednesday rangers thursday
trade deadline friday right two of those at home two of those at home now what i find interesting
about this grand plan of the toronto maple leafs is that they were gonna sit and wait and see how
the leafs did against one division leading team and then the five teams that are worse than them
in the eastern conference wow going into the i didn't even realize going into the tampa game
the senators had a worse points uh total the panthers had a worse two points total the flyers
had a worse points total the devils had a worse points total and the rangers are dead fucking last
and the toronto maple leafs wanted to sit there and say you know what let's see how they do against
this tough run of guys yeah but then but then they lose two straight now almost immediately
after the Tampa game and during the Tampa game I'm sure you guys realized whatever waiting they
were going to do they probably should not wait anymore and I found it very interesting that
yesterday Elliott Friedman was on the fan 590 especially after CJ completely torched them on
the cj show yesterday i found it very interesting that elliot friedman was like oh no no no there's
some that they they have always known they were going to sell and what one more thing before i
turn the floor over okay yeah just one more thing i don't blame elliot i don't blame dregs i don't
blame cj anybody else who's an insider who's saying that because that is what the leafs were
telling them their job is to report here's what the leafs are thinking and then the leafs tried
to say no no come on we're not that's we're not that we've always been smart this group of guys
man are unbelievable they will do anything but anything they will do anything but anything
july 16th that was the last time they made a trade and we're not even sure
come next friday come a week today when there's the trade deadline
how many trades will the leafs have made i'm gonna set the over under at 2.5
what are you guys taking over you're taking the over i love that jesse's got faith i'm gonna say
under i pray it's over it's gonna be matias michelli it's feeling under they're gonna
re-sign bobby mcmahon they're gonna say oh but oliver eckman larson had a 16 team no trade he
really wants to be here and i get that i think that's great that oel wants to be here i want
him here if they're good he might be the only leaf like back there anyway yeah dude it's it's
we'll talk about rough right now it is rough right now i just think we need to just call it like it
is straight up this team is trying to bullshit you in their narratives yeah with the major uh
sports that dsn publications broadcasters whatever you want to call them uh don't let them do it
don't let them do it i can do a rebuild i can do a retool i i can do those things well i can't do
this i can't do this we've tried nothing and we're all out of ideas stuff it's we've said it for
years we've said it for over a decade on this show the worst teams in the league are the teams who
have no idea what they are the leafs have absolutely no clue what they are no clue and
i don't even let me tell you something just from an entertainment standpoint i don't care if it
makes them better or worse fire craig berube holy crap i can't watch this anymore i can't you know
while he's a disciplinarian and he demands the the style is the worst oh my god it put me in
the hospital yeah this style of hockey put me in the hospital uh well it gave you the ulcer that
we're going to talk about it did but i saw a thing in the new york times about how stress doesn't
affect ulcers oh well then does it affect shingles i don't know about shingles they just
you've had quite the year health-wise shingles on your wiener and then uh it wasn't on my wiener
how dare you the case of the wiener shingles you can't make that part up
well it's in the air it was perilously close that's aggressive yeah i don't think we ever
talked about no that was a year ago we didn't yeah no adam just giving out your government i think
it's very disappointing to see that we've reached this point and they're still confused about what
product they're putting on the ice even keith pelly's email that you read out last episode
the delusion from the maple east organization to think that this year they have it you watch
them against tampa and you're like one of the strengths i thought coming into the season was
going to be their defense you're bringing back the same essentially seven guys that you had last
year i think that continuity would have been good for them of course injuries happy to have tana but
nobody on that back end knows how to play defense no it's it's egregious no and not even oel by the
way no no he tries though he's he was out there um in the florida game looking like he's trying
to get traded because he's doing everything on the offensive side yeah you know he kept joining
in the rush he kept trying to take shots in the middle of the slot and like what are you doing
there oh he's trying to pump his own trade value and get out of this stupid town because i don't
understand how the gm of this team and i'm so disappointed i had high hopes for brad you're
living yeah no what a complete keith pelly and craig berube and everybody running this team
is confused at what they're watching because we're watching the same thing and we can see how
porous this team has been outside of firing marcevard and getting hot for a week and a half
outside of that the hockey's been a miserable product so what is with the humming and hawing
on what you're going to do with this team move off of everybody like there's no reason to keep
mcmahon yarn croak if you can even get anything because craig brubake has a minute out of the
lineup anything um they get for him will be like an enormous victory lawton's a great guy in the
locker room doesn't matter to winning the locker room part doesn't matter this year to winning
what's going to help you with this team currently what's going to help you win going forward because
this year you're not winning is moving lawn and if he wants to be a leaf he can come back i i would
like mcmanton back um i would like a lot of money back yeah mcmahon well both of them frankly i'm
concerned about the cap hit they're gonna be i like i like having both of those players on my
yeah but where they're currently at you gotta trade them no they're like it needs a real reset
here on just all of the extra pieces like okay you want to keep you're gonna keep austin you're
gonna keep everybody you have to i'm even open to the idea if the adam fox is miserable stuff
oh i got that if you flip kneelander for adam fox i'd take it in a heartbeat i'd take it i'd
take it at this point of all people it's that's the ceo of kneeland i know i know i have i have
every share of the kneelander stock and if they want me to dump right now because it's fallen
i might do it wow you can convince me that bringing in adam fox and then four other d
is a is a good reset for this organization you're gonna get subtweeted so hard so many
kneel pro kneel enter people who just feel like you've betrayed them i'm on their team
no but you're not anymore i watched the toronto maple leafs and i know that this current regime
can't win can i can i also throw something else into the pot about first up you know we talk about
the the narrative switch that the leafs are trying to pull and again they use their conduits the
insiders the insiders job is to say here's what i'm hearing so i know i never get mad at the
insiders i go ah what are they saying now if you're carrying water for somebody got a problem
with that yeah but if you're relaying the information that the public the organization
doesn't want to say publicly fine fine now in two days it will be a full calendar month
because i mean actually technically tomorrow the month has ended but it'll be a full calendar month
in terms of actual days since easton cowan has played a professional that's unjustifiable and
and let me say this i i said i tweeted this online yesterday and uh somebody's like yeah
but his course he is like 40 i'm like play him with the marley marley's i'm sorry do they only
have the nhl team and this is something that anthony petrelli's talked about and a few other
people and they've said what's been shocking about the leafs this year is their inability
to use anybody from the ahl move anybody back to the ahl it's not only do they not make trades
they don't call up or send down they don't do anything i gotta know what it's like in the
marley's locker room i hope it's good i think that's important well yeah but like imagine how
demoralizing that is yeah like you're sitting there jacked for the trade deadline probably
yep hey man like maybe a bunch of guys get traded and i finally get called up
jacob quillen has absolutely played well enough for some ice time on this garbage team
bo grew has absolutely played well enough for ice time on this garbage team will villanoff has
absolutely played well enough for ice time on this garbage team and you could probably throw
some other guys in there too a lot of people have been begging for pesetta all season long he's been
hurt i just love his vibes i do too well and like he gives a damn and the reason that they're not
doing that stuff is because they have an old roster that is you can't send down unless they
can clear waivers like easton cowan is the only member of the roster who can be sent down without
clearing waivers so bradshaw living has walked himself into a corner where he's risking losing
players he clearly doesn't want to lose because he loves this team for some reason and easton
cowan is the only one he can send down and he's still not even doing that yeah so it's his own
fault for the situation he's in and he's doing nothing to get off of that the only thing i can
think of that even half justifies what they're doing with cowan is the off ice training they
have him doing is like goku levels of cryo chambers hooked up to the gas mask whatever
and they're feeding them senzu beans and stuff that's the only justification can i tell you that
that's not happening that's definitely not happening so have him play have the player
who you want to be prodigious at hockey playing yeah play hockey games it's insane you have to
say this no faith let me tell you i have no faith in anything they're doing on the cow and thing
he's like well i think that they've probably told him listen after the trade deadline you're gonna
play every game hey how about you play some games before that can be both can happen both can be
true what so you're showcasing yarn croak oh no he was scratched yesterday what are you doing yeah
what are you doing sometimes life throws your curveballs and you don't have time to get to
them and that's where task rabbit comes in and i think you should check this out because here's
the deal one of the things one of the weird quirks about my condo building is that they use my floor

It's shocking because, you know, CJ talked about the note.
and our our conversation about the the note to the season ticket holders was that um it was it
was more about the pricing elements than anything but we did kind of laugh at the fact well it's a
bit of seasons of ups and downs it's raining said the ceo of pissing on you cj said um cj said you
know i find i take issue with that because he said it has not been a season of ups and downs
it's been a season of downs with one brief spell of up and you think you might think listen to this
hey that's splitting hairs i gotta be honest with you it is not and you know okay i'll tell
you something i've had high hopes for how about just no it isn't moving on i had high hopes for
keith kelly coming in because i saw him as a guy who was decisive and you know i saw with the with
tfc he was quite decisive and you like shorts and i love shorts while playing golf which is a big
thing that keith belly enacted i like the european too i liked i like to match my glasses with my
pants uh no i'm kidding i'm i'm i'm that is but what here's what here's what i know also about
working because i've personally worked for him uh underneath and underneath him many many many
rungs and you're a big fan is that at rogers and i know this because i worked there for
half of my radio career there is a thing that they'll do and they'll have these or they used
to have these like we used to call them the rogers pep rallies we actually had a a worse name for it
but i won't say it here and what they would do is they'd bring into the they have a velma rogers
theater underneath downstairs you remember these jesse you remember these who's velma oh yeah velma
rogers was uh uh uh ed rogers mother like sorry his great the current ed rogers his mother or
his grandmother's because the current ed rogers is the third ted ted yes so there's ed the original
edward from the 30s and then there was ted who's the one who has the statue outside the blue kind
of built everything and then there's ed yeah ted's mother is velma okay okay so that's who the theater
was named yes yeah i never knew and she was a force of a woman from all from all uh uh things
yeah she was like a real like they had a bunch of money they had a bunch of money and then they
didn't have a bunch of money and she was like like let's get back to it right they went ted was ted
uh the middle uh one uh ed the third i guess the statue man was an absolute animal in business
absolute animal and what's interesting about or at least what i remember my experience at rogers
is they bring you down to that theater and essentially they were they were putting you
in a room and going we need to sell you on the direction of rogers media and one of the things
that happened when things started not to go well with the original nhl deal was they'd be like
they'd say something and everybody in the room would be like and then would stand up and clap
anyway i remember very specifically when all seven canadian teams missed in the first year of that
deal yeah they said at the beginning of the second year they're like this will never happen
again scott moore said that scott moore said that i thought it was him and i know scott and i was
sitting there like you can't know that you can't know that you what are you talking about uh did
you know it the first time yeah and so so the reason i tell you that is because you have to
when i read that email i'm like oh my god i feel like i'm back at rogers again yeah and we used to
make this joke behind the scenes here when we started the podcast and this is going back like
way back we used to get these corporate emails and if it was good news because there would be
the executives pictures would be on the on the emails so it was good news we'd have a happy
keith email so here's keith pelle rogers and here's a note from keith pelle to the whole staff
and then and then there'd be sad keith emails where it's a more stoic keith in the picture
serious face it wouldn't be sad like it wouldn't be crying or anything he has headshots for each
yeah yeah and they originally and then they got rid of the headshots because it was kind of bizarre
but what i'm trying to say is with that note and why that has made so much noise in the market
is because they think that season ticket holders and fans who are actually the same thing yeah um
will fall for the same stuff that somebody who's paid to be there and has to buy into that idea
will nobody is dumb enough that's fascinating to look at this team and go like he says in the in
the note um uh we're not going to telegraph our strategy buddy you've been telegraphing your
strategy for four weeks we know exactly what your strategy was and for some reason probably
somewhere in the second or third period in tampa you decided we better change our strategy
we better make a decision here off one oh by the way we were always selling
this is that is why i get so annoyed and this is where for me i'm i thought i was getting
i thought we were getting decisive keith belly we are not we are not we're getting frozen
terrified brad and keith and management surrounding but it's those two guys and i
can tell you the rogers corporate overlords tony staffy or whatever they hire you and expect you
to do your job remember these are the same people that held on to shapiro and atkins for years and
years and years while people are clamored in the streets get rid of these guys and now they went
to the games games out of the world series and no one's doing that anymore but the what if they
took the wrong lesson from that well and that is that was going to be my next point steve you might
be more along this track with me but i'm a little concerned about the entire future of the franchise
now that rogers owns it and bell's not there and they're going to push larry tannenbaum out
when they eventually complete the lawyers uh doing the other what does he own 25 of that mlse deal
now that rogers owns this thing outright i think adam's right in that like the email feels like
rogers like when we work there because it is they now own and we are in the new era of the leafs
under a new ownership where it's just them and throughout the last decade where we've seen a
bunch of success there was a little conversation that need to be had in the ownership office
rogers couldn't just make the moves they wanted to make they had to consult with tannenbaum and
the bell side and tannenbaum was kind of the middleman in like okay he was this they want this
let's kind of settle in the middle on what's right and it worked with the raptors extremely well
and it worked with the leafs too they had a bunch of success we can debate all the shanahan stuff
and all that but now that it's just them i'm concerned as a fan and for the next decade of
hockey on what rogers is going to do with this team because i don't have faith in them as a
corporation so one of the things i said in my lfr is uh keith talked about the fact that the
leafs have made the playoffs for nine straight years which is the longest active streak which
is insane um and i was like yeah okay what'd you have to do with that right and maybe that's unfair
to a guy who just got there but he just got here he just got here it's not unfair yeah he didn't
it's been a couple years now and also the direction is awful yeah what are you a classic rock band
look at all the great albums we used to sell what are you fucking talking about okay it's about right
now and it's about season ticket renewals for next season you're like i hey guys listen just
because we have fallen off of every hill that we've been faced with yeah this season doesn't
mean you shouldn't renew next year with an option for the 42nd game thank you very much
and we made the playoffs nine years in a row so what if only it was like a classic rock band it's
play doug gilmore you can't do that play wendell play wendell can't do that i would settle for
playing kenny johnson at this point like it's a brief song it's a crazy thing that it's like well
we're very proud of nine years in the playoffs what happened in those playoffs keith you want
to remind leafs nation of that what is what is abundantly clear and it's been clear for a couple
of years and we put it at shanny's feet shanny's not here anymore now it's a key's feet there is a
huge disconnect between this organization and its fans and this organization needs to understand
that fans are not employees and employees are bound to do what you tell them right they are
bound to go well that's the company vision and even though i don't agree with it i am paid to
execute the company vision as a fan you're paying them you're the one paying for access to the arena
it you're the one paying for the access to wear blue and white and have your favorite player's
name on the back you're the one who's paying the sports net subscription which is outrageous and
is going up big time over the next couple of years to watch all the games you're telling me
they're gonna talk to me like i'm an employee how about we just level with each other these are some
of the most educated hockey fans on earth if you think you can corporate bullshit your way through
this yeah you're out of your fucking mind and they're not happy these fans are not happy because
they have no reason to be why should i be happy as a leafs fan right now yeah now we get trade
deadline on a week from now and i will tell you this if they go out and jesse's got faith and i
love jesse for that because i usually i i feel my gut and then i hear jesse's gut i'm like all right
i'll trust jesse's gut oh for me if if they don't make no not if they don't go ahead if they do
then i'll i will applaud them sure and that's the thing with the internet so funny so well you said
this a week ago well i was presented with new information if i am presented with information
july that there is a direction for this team yeah that there's a reason to hope here because i'm
looking at it right now and i'm trying to find what brand you are what you stand for your style
of play the talent coming up i don't see any of it i don't see any of it outside of the big stars
and if you tell me in a week if i see in a week's time they're selling with the intention of not
only adding a longer term piece eventually that's going to be a major part of their top six or the
top four and d uh if i see that i will listen but right now the only thing that we have is the
evidence before our eyes which is they haven't made a trade since july 16th now i want to talk
a little bit about the last couple of games we were sold a raw bill of goods with morgan riley
there's no question about it the story's about well he worked out and he's in great shape and
whatever guys i like morgan riley as a human being more than i think i've liked any toronto
maple leaf this is a good solid person he's off who is quite skilled as well he's a great dude
this system this this whatever's happening what do you mean he's out there on the penalty kill
craig what are you doing i mean i had some hope and practice the other day they they they came
out wednesday with the lions right after we finished recording and and they had him on the
third pair with Benoit I'm like that makes sense did they play a shift no together no they went
right back to the same shit that they do boy and I just I'm trying to figure out and you talk about
Berube we've talked about management Jesse Steve what justification is Craig Berube giving you
to keep this job beyond this season beyond the fact that well he's owed a lot of money so
uh there is there isn't any why i he shouldn't be the coach a moment longer like i don't know
how you can watch those two games and not at least entertain the idea of maybe they should
fire him now you know what i mean this is not typically the time of year you fire a coach
ah ah maybe you fire him now and i tell you what if you're trying to make the playoffs
which they're surely they're not but maybe they are maybe you fire them now guys it's the most
joyless shitty hockey oh they can't play it it's a can't or won't it's a horrific product
it's a horrific product if you're gonna lose be at least exciting the the i keep going back to
the 2016-17 Leafs which I think is is a team that most people in this fan base would call
the best the the most fun they've had with the team over the last 10 years you know how many
games how many leads they blew in the third period how many stupid goals they gave up how thin they
were on defense how thin they were how many dumb little mistakes how fun they were fun
this team it's almost every game this season other team kicks their ass
score effects take over it looks like they were in it and the result is close yeah sometimes they
come back sometimes they don't obviously there were two empty netters last night you could argue
okay take those out it's 3-1 you had the goalie pulled they are they're always in like goalie
pull territory right they're not close i'm here to tell you they're not close the shots were 16
to 6 after the first period the shots after it was 3-0 were 16 to 3 you were not even kind of
sort of a little bit in it and like you know i love listening to different perspectives and
you know sometimes jeff o'neill um just states the obvious as a player after getting killed by tampa
ew i added the ew not jeff but ew after that the the the social contract or whatever it is
is no you're not going to win every game sometimes you are going to get your ass kicked
but the night or the next game after you get your ass kicked you at least come out of the gate hot
ew joyless the the urgency how many like jesse you've been at nearly all the home games this
season right how many times has there been a conversation that included something to do with
you know you know how do you explain the lack of urgency the lack of urgency it's nearly every game
whenever they lose it's because they don't show up for the first 20 minutes of the game and
all of a sudden they're down and they're fighting it and then the last uh 40 minutes looks all right
but that's not how you play hockey at all if you're trying to win the game you have to play
the entire game it's almost march and i i don't have deep analysis left i only have ew you very
clearly either don't care or can't do it and they always go well of course we friggin care
well then you can't do it yeah and i'm i i think that's i think you've landed on the right thing
it's that it's a can't do issue yes it's there they're not capable of doing that and and
competing with these teams especially a team like tampa who is just so good this season and like
vasilevsky's playing at the top of his game and you see toronto go up against them and it should
be what it should have been four goals allowed in the first period yeah if they don't have
the best video crew in the world so the the video crew has as many goals over the last two games as
the Leafs yeah they have three goals disallowed the Leafs have scored three goals two by John
Tavares and they have allowed 10 which is actually seven or seven which is actually 10 and it's one
five on five goal from the Leafs um or two of those on the power play Tavares had a power play
goal for sure yeah I'm not sure yeah it's sure it's definitely not all three and like what was
the score when they scored that power play goal right so and then yeah one's the empty net oh so
it's not so even if you count five on five goals right it's it's one like they they were
i don't think they did they make it 2-1 against tampa or no it was three nothing and then they
made it 3-1 i think they got two goals remember the weird one yeah shot on on vassie that went
through yeah the matt and eyes one no no they did that maybe that was the five on five one or no
i don't know no because the uh the goldie came out there anyways anyways both games they were
getting killed does it matter they were getting killed yeah the thing is they they don't start
on that they don't have answers for it it's like you every single time in those scrums they're
asked about it's like okay where do you get that urgency from why couldn't you guys get ready in
that first period what happened there and berube doesn't have answers because they're he's watching
his guys he's not telling them don't show up for the first period right he's like all right we're
gonna get out there we're gonna drag ass for 20 minutes and then so you go you were before that
you asked austin about it and he's like well we have to come out with a lot more effort there we
have to do better in the first 20 all that they know what they have to do yeah we need to accept
the roster isn't capable of winning these games and doing what they are required to do they don't
have the talent to do it and that's it it's not an effort that everybody who's in the nhl is trying
to win games and play hockey at their best ability i like watching nick robertson play
because i'm like he's he's trying he's trying he's trying i don't know how much of it's any good but
he's trying for him it's a skill deficiency well maybe but like i don't listen but that's the name
of the game if you don't have it you better bust your ass you wish everybody on that roster had as
much effort as nick robertson that's that's what you're asking for they'd be they'd be in a playoff
spot oh yeah but you wish they had his effort with better uh hockey sets yeah sometimes right
run around too much with all that effort but if you can combine all that to a perfect hockey player
it'd be great but they don't have that no and it's about time we all accept that i also by the way
think nick robertson make would be some pretty good value on that trade deadline why not i don't
know i mean they're gonna need bodies to play for them next year and they're gonna need younger guys
and maybe you keep him but but the way he plays and stuff i'm like god he's taken it's lost in
the shit that this season has had he's taken a step forward this year i'd like to see him with
another coach me too i don't i don't want to give up i'd like to see him with a with a coach like a
dan muse type and i'm not i'm not even saying like berube doesn't treat him well i mean berube
has given him far more opportunity than keith ever did yeah he's he's a better player he's a guy
with this trade deadline i'm i'm just not sure um i do like watching them play but you know it
too they don't have it no they they the collective they don't have it they're awful to watch they're
horrible product that so this is the other thing horrible you know like it's so funny oh can i just
yeah please go goals thing okay yesterday was a power play goal yeah okay tavarez was a power
play goal okay and the matt nye's goal came with the goalie pulled they have yet to score a five
on five goal right since coming back from the break and and take a look at those the two tampa
neither goal they don't have a five on five goal jesus neither tampa goal is repeatable
no the nye's goal you're you're gonna catch vasilevsky off guard like that once a month
yeah maybe what the season and tavaris's goal you know why that's not repeatable
tampa hit the post with a three-on-one on an empty net how many more times do you think
that's gonna happen i don't think it's gonna happen the funny answer is yesterday
but they still got scored on yeah dude it's bleak it's so bleak well and and the thing is is that
it's not irredeemable though as much as it feels that way why it feels that way is because we have
no control over the process um and we have no faith in those controlling the process that's
why it feels like oh well what the hell are they going to do and you know um our friend of the show
sid sixero mentioned yesterday that um that you know with the new tv deal he finds it hard to
believe that this team is really gonna go through and properly dig deep uh because rogers owns the
network and the team uh finds it hard to believe that they would go through and actually dig deep
and retool this or rebuild it properly whatever you want to call it and i don't disagree with
that necessarily but i don't think they need a rebuild and i don't think they do either but i do
think i i think we need a repositioning on who these players are now because if we're gonna
if we're gonna talk about a retool what are we getting from the guys who are at the top that
would be somewhat untouchable Matthews I think is the closest thing to you're not trading him
but Nylander Jesse said I would if there was like a major piece like an Adam Fox
that clip by the way is nuts we'll play that in a bit uh you haven't seen that oh I'm assuming
no um sometimes I see a clip and I I know Adam telepathically is like don't uh I don't think
it's fair to assume that Austin Matthews is 70 goal guy anymore I think it's fair to assume he
might be 40 goal guy i think if you get him the right playmaker he might be 50 goal guy he's uh
but he's six games without a goal he is uh the ties his longest streak still elite defensively
uh as long a streak of the season i believe oh i don't know what a streak ever is that could be
ever that's that could be wait if it is ever both of them happen this year but it's fair to say that
that after almost 24 months fair to say that that player is gone and until i'm presented with
information otherwise i will assume that we have a high-end elite defensive center it doesn't mean
he's not good who can probably put up 90 points and score 40 goals which is still great it's an
unreal player that's phenomenal yeah but i think we've got to reposition that as fans injuries
happen um he is still scoring at a higher rate than ovechkin did at the same time in his career
i still want to see him without this coach i i agree with you so i listen i'm just saying
reposition for now yeah presented with different evidence this can all change
knee lander still great offensively still doesn't give a shit about getting back to the bench
still causes headaches with coaches star players do yep john tavaris who is on pace for 70 points
or something like that it's crazy 68 um far more than you could reasonably ask of him and
i don't actually have that cap hit yeah and his age and it's crazy yeah john's done an admirable
job this year you could argue the team is punching above its weight because of that oh yeah yeah
because he was just red hot out of the gate even worse he had he had the dip in the winter months
but uh what he did in the fall was spectacular john's playing too much don's playing too many
minutes. John is 35. John should be your third line center in an optimal year. And that's not
because John Tavares isn't great. It's because he is. And it's because he's older now. And it's
because you have sat here for a decade with the same top two centers and made no changes and made
no plans to develop one to take over at center. Didn't even draft a center that might have become
that other than fraser mitten who by the way is probably still not a second line center
probably not maybe not on this team but it that is uh you know we gave dubas's flowers last show
but like that and it wasn't just him but was such a glaring omission from that era of the leafs
not a one and they couldn't get a third line center that whole era yeah not a one and like
then minton shows up they did that a few times man we can't find a right-handed defenseman
this jersey kid looks like he's gonna work out gone man we can't get a jay muzzin trade
especially if he hadn't gotten hurt no but you also like they wanted that guy they found that
guy they drafted that guy they got rid of that guy yeah where's the patience just to sit on
your asset and maybe develop them into what you need and then maybe if you have jersey as opposed
to muzzin the cap works out a little better you know because you have so much cap tied up to the
core and things are different yeah like jersey just a really good guy steve what would you do
if you were a time traveler uh i would go back to that leafs penguins game from april 2017 and cut
all of connor brown's sticks uh with a saw so that he never scores the go-ahead goal and they
miss the playoffs because it might have actually been the worst thing to possibly happen to the
franchise because they just started spending assets like drunken sailors and never really
i i think they took uh this this is going to be very good for a certain chunk of the audience
they took the sourdough out of the oven before it was it was really ready and it was all gummy in
the middle and you should have left it you should have left it to get fluffy and delicious and you
didn't it looked great on the outside you knock on it and it makes the wonderful sound you open
it it's gummy bullshit yep that's the Leafs it's uh it's going to be very very interesting to see
what happens a week from now we'll be doing our STPN trade deadline special and that is just us
pumping out videos all day and then we'll have a live stream at the end of the day as we always do
I am very curious about what kind of like this this trade deadline makes or breaks this group
this this management group hi like there's no other way i think they should be done regardless
yes i don't care if they if they manage to trade cali yarn croak for connor mcdavid at this trade
deadline i still think you move off i mean it's a fair return i i don't know i don't know what
they could do in the next seven days to save their jobs i think brandon prudham can be the
intern for whatever i think maybe give him the job you do as good of a job as you can because
that's what you're paid to do and then okay bye thanks craig thanks brad let's reset thank you
that's enough two and five canadians will hear the words you have cancer that's why every step

all day every day now until december 31st you gotta try breakfast at a and w at participating
a and w locations in ontario uh austin matthews by the way longest goalless drought was in his
rookie season he went 13 games without a goal wow and he still got 40 good for him that's nuts
that's fairly early in the season in his rookie year that but he hasn't had a streak longer in
that sense so now there's been a there's been a lot said about austin in the last few days and
i want to call something out quickly very specifically and then i also want to i want
to talk about austin's role in this okay because first off i'm begging the toronto star to have
some standards uh i cannot believe you published that article by that author i cannot believe you
let your newspaper be the personal blog of somebody so completely out of touch what a
ridiculous piece of non-journalist blather bullshit i've never seen i cannot believe that
the sports editor there would have allowed that they've made some good hires lately remember
before dave pool and was was brought into the senator's organization they hired him as when
he was with tsn kiprios has done a good job there they are obviously intelligent enough to know
but to bring damien cox in to post that just absolute nonsense what a joke i so let's i just
want to say that i need to say that we don't usually do that steve and jesse didn't know i
was going to do that i own that that was fucking insane that and to use a newspaper with a hundred
year history like the toronto star has 100 plus as your personal sub stack go fuck yourself are
you kidding me and you know it's funny people say oh they'll do they do that for the clicks they do
that for the clicks uh it's behind a paywall and i don't think all you did was screen cap the
headline and share it yeah and by the way let me throw you did let me throw this at you um uh those
types of articles do not drive subscriptions which is what the toronto star wants they don't want
your clicks they want your subscription and they want to make it painful for you when you want to
cancel your subscription like they did for me a couple years ago when i had to sit on the phone
for three hours to cancel my if you if you want someone to subscribe you give them the good shit
that's why kipper would drive subscriptions that nonsense there's no room for it anymore
just an absolutely ridiculous thing to say now one one thing i will do we get the way in it
oh yeah please oh sorry sorry yeah i don't know people just kept going see the toronto media and
i wanted to be like it's damien cox the the toronto what is this 2005 no it isn't sorry
i thought it did such a disservice to everybody else trying to cover hockey it's because it gave
people who want to dump on people in toronto something to point at they said hey look at
this crazy thing that the toronto media is writing and we're all cast in that light
and there's never going to be a clarification yeah but those people will always find what
they're looking for but this one was they're right though oh yeah this one was correct but it's
damien cox nobody cares it does nobody it's about the screen cap of the headline and being like look
at what they're doing to the people who play for their the team in their hometown and that's why
damien cox he did such a disservice to like all of his work we're essentially like co-workers
as in doing the same thing in the same business because we're all in the toronto media working
together peers at peer sorry peers is a much better word thank you him doing that to his peers
is so evil of him and it's it's it's terrible it was disgusting i believe that he believes that
but i also believe that somebody with such malformed um half-hearted bullshit opinions
ought to be edited out by a sports editor yeah where that's what they're there for where are
the people above him to tell him no you can't print this who is steering the ship unbelievable
and you know what if they want to reach out i'm happy to have that conversation with you directly
thrilled i'd be happy to you guys are you guys failed failed miserably on this cannot believe
it what do you guys think of damien cox it's not what i think about damien cox it's what i think
about the editor i'd like to hear steve's thoughts well sorry the reason the reason i'm uh i'm always
very concerned when i'm um the third most worked up uh on the panel but uh the the reason uh is i
see that name in my brain immediately just powers off and disregards so i wasn't surprised it took
off for the reasons that you mentioned like it gives people that ammo but i was surprised because
i was like it's demo spin bro like who who in the big 2026 who gives a damn i didn't even know he
was still writing i don't so but i what i i wonder how many people understand that that's why we're
not enough you've worked in toronto media for what 15 years yeah oh i've been getting dirty
looks from him since 2009 yeah i don't i don't know if the average person who just sees that
headline in a very credible newspaper understands that no that's me being too close to the painting
i guess yeah yeah no i i so it's good to have the perspective yeah of uh yeah that sucked
it's like it's like hey to me that was throwing morgan riley out on the pk what exactly were
you expecting that's where my issue is not with damien because damien's going to be damien
my issues with the guy that said you know what put it in print this is what we need insanity
now the article is not behind a paywall by the way oh it's not i just tried to click it and
read it and uh you can't i read it on twitter yeah so there you go um i so the other thing
but i do want to say this about austin matthews okay because this is the role i think he plays
it's time for austin to go into management and say guys i have we had the chat a couple weeks ago
if you guys sell i'm good i'm not gonna leave i'm not gonna ask for a trade and and nor should he
they've given him nine years in the playoffs he's never had a moment as oiler fans and abs fans and
florida fans and tampa fans love to tell us he's never had a moment like mckinnon or dry saddle
mcdavid or kucherov or stamp coast or whatever where he's taken the team on his back and willed
him to victory it's never happened never happened ranting and ranting and sure never happened but
we've given them the opportunities for that to happen and there have been great moments but not
an overall like what miko ranting and was like say last year for dallas you know what i'm talking
about the kind of performance where like even the abs are like well what do you even do yeah
yeah scored like three goals a game like what do you even do has never happened right it didn't
happen with martyr kneelander's been the most consistent but even he's never been able to pull
that off he's just been a good consistent performer yeah yeah the only moment you kind
of give them is that tampa series yeah that they won or they won yeah well the one they lost was
the the game five winner yes but the one they won he goes uh five goals in the last four games
yeah including one game that's great yeah that's one two one game yeah i'm talking about guys that
have done it for several series right totally that's what a true superstar does hasn't happened
but austin has the ability we all know he does it just hasn't happened don't know if it will
hope it does but he should not be at under any circumstances after nine goes in the playoff
saying first sign of trouble fuck off i'm out of here he likes toronto loves toronto from reports
loves playing here loves being the captain loves all that so that's all off the table
austin's role here and he needs to sit at the table and look at these guys in the eyes and go
listen to me this coach ain't it if this general manager can't get it done he ain't it
you guys better sort this out i can't imagine a world where lebron james who is the best
basketball player of the last era is not involved in who the lakers are getting in who the calves
are getting in who miami is getting lebron james put that super team together himself in miami
he's the one that that decided who cleveland was going to trade for i'm not saying i want
austin matthews running the toronto maple leafs but at a certain point you can't just be a hockey
player you're not you're the captain you look at these people in the eyes and go guys i don't know
if you have an issue making decisions it feels like you do so i'm going to make it for you this
is over and it's over now that's the role he can play that's leadership and i hope he does
and if he feels like he needs some help matthews mcdavid warrenski yosi who do they uh what what
do they all have in common same agent same agent judd moldaver this is where he earns his big bucks
too he's got to advocate for this guy he's he's arguably the biggest agent at one of the biggest
agencies wasserman who uh they're working on changing their name uh he's got to step in here
because this is brutal dude this is so bad that so that where's the i need the articles on that
i need the articles on what leadership true leadership looks like it's so funny people
in the streams and when i'm doing them they're like well if austin was a good leader then they'd
win you can't will a bad team to victory conor mcdavid was captain of plenty of oilers teams
that didn't make the playoffs right you can't will a team to when you can't leadership your
way into skill it's there or it isn't the system is there or it isn't so we know and and cj said
it so perfectly on the podcast he's like on his show yesterday he's like he's like i don't know
if the leafs realize how far they fall and like people think about the martyr thing and they're
like well they lost 100 point player buddy this goes well beyond losing mitch marner this is a
bad hockey team who's bad at hockey mitch martyr could not have saved this he did not play 60
minutes a game last year i can't believe how bad they are it's crazy yeah it's crazy dude
and like what it injuries like i that part is so insulting well the look at the tampa bay lightning
look at that that bunch of friggin their roster looks like someone trying to assemble a tent
without the instructions draft address and seven defensemen on wednesday night because they didn't
have a center crazy and they still kick ass yeah and the panthers right now don't have seth jones
and they don't have alex barkov and they're probably gonna miss the playoffs yeah and yeah
but they killed them and we're sitting here going we don't have tanf tanf doesn't save the what
we don't have a guy who's like how old is Tanev 30 36 6 7 no Chris Tanev is 36
what are we talking about a guy you're younger than me Sidney Crosby man yeah like I know older
players in this league are capable of being that good but holy shit hey even Sid missed the playoffs
a couple years in a row yes you can't leadership your way out of this yeah except no one was like
you know if sid did better the reason the penguins aren't getting through this
sid yeah anyway his leadership ability so leadership you know what malcolm too so if
we want to talk about austin matthews that's the leadership role i want him to take right now
get in there behind the scenes and go guys um even if you need a cattle prod that's electrocuted
like just jab hello wcw call the ceo you can get a meeting like i guarantee you they'll make time
for you it's so anyway oh no they will you can't tell it steven you can oh they will now they will
do we have anything more on the leaps that we'd like to add other than again steve is doing the
stream on saturday night which would be fun senators i can't wait i think stallers and
wall have been okay in their two games their their one game each that they played but the thing that
kind of held the leafs together last year was otherworldly goaltending and them not getting
that throughout this entire season has really shown the flaws and i think last year's team
we probably have a lot of the same complaints we have about this year's team if the goaltending
wasn't so great last year and this year they have average goaltending to bad on some nights
and the team's awful it it feels like the decor at least gave them an opportunity
to have good nights you know your goaltending has got to give you a chance to win you got to give
yourself a chance to have good goaltending and i thought both those things happened last year
not this year is there a world where you try and look at trading either one of those players
yep because you have the you have held to be is that something you're trying to do the next seven
days i just don't know what they're worth or is that something you save till the off season or
you just this is next year we have these two goaltenders oh i think the oilers listen
we're getting to that next oh i think they listen so uh that's a fascinating i would assign i would
assign Stoller's to the contract they signed him to
100% but 3.75
until 2030
so four more years after
this if you're moving a contract you're moving that one
as opposed to Joseph Wall 3.6
for next year and the year after
heck of a lot younger and younger yeah
you're moving the Stoller's still
younger and somehow the least
injured of the two
what a what a low
bar yeah what a bar
um
yeah giant douche or turd sandwich in terms of performance yeah they're both like so far
they were such an unbelievable tandem last year but yeah if you got to trade one
one's cheaper and younger and ligaments slightly ever so slightly less splody
steve walked in today wearing his very sexy doer jeans that keep him cool with the cool
max fibers that help regulate his temperature so you don't feel like you're overheating and
extremely flexible it is steve sometimes here the people who don't work here don't know this
likes to get on the floor and do his at-home stretches at the office because you didn't do
them in the morning and you can do them in your doer jeans because the jeans allow for the
flexibility to do your stretches you know what you know sometimes you don't want to do that in
the office but sometimes you just get down and do her yeah oh stop right boo boo uh plus their
jeans are antimicrobial so uh you can wear them more and more between washes and stay fresh because
you don't want to wash denim too too much in the washer definitely not in the dryer now we know
you'll love doer as much as steve does as much as i do as much as jesse does and it is time to get
your own pair of jeans get your own stop stealing steve's and wearing them uh doer.ca slash stp
you're gonna get 15 off your first door that's a great deal so again do not wait d-u-e-r dot c-a

seeing how edmonton treats their goaltending situation i think you could get something
significant for stallers i've yeah you know what i bet you could get you might have to take charlie
back hey no no no unless you like unless you take him back and like bury him for the rest of his
or buy him out or something because it's not he can't play it's terrible what is here can you look
that up he's got five million and it's i think it's two more years after this one right no way
you can't take that i'm just listen he's spitball hey i'm spit you can rest assured adam they're not
doing this it's way too interesting today and and by the way i think you're right today as we're
talking clearly the leafs are now open to trades because the trade rumors are heating up oel to
edmonton seems like it's going to happen so maybe if we're going to build a deal build the oel to
edmonton the 5.375 oh you know kyle but what's what's the buyout oh you want to buy it out
yeah i don't know let's light this candle but like buy it out in the summer i'll buy it and
you have him play out hey it's box it's us and us whoa hey cool no just have him uh play uh
play the rest of the season if you're trying to tank yeah you know what here justin throw this up
all right no not too bad so where's the cap your bio cap is four seven jesse no four seven then
four two then four hundred fifty thousand and four hundred no i'd rather have stallers playing
hockey for me are you fucking kidding me guys i don't know man no i'm trying to figure something
out do not also assist stan bowman in in his bad decision making can i i can i say with stan
bowman i think you make non-goaltending trades and just pope for the best when you i don't think
and we i tried to emphasize this when they made that trade i don't think you understand what a
huge swing that actually is yeah it's the kind of swing where if it doesn't work you can't get out
of it it's connor ingram or calvin pickard turn into george vesna or you're fucked that's it's
those that's that's all you got one of jari ingram or pickard works or you're out of a job
that's it's especially because of the term and the money like and skinner's kicking ass and skinner
would have been done at the end of this season yeah and you could have been like okay didn't
work out moving on and now you locked yourself into tristan jari for really no reason well it's
like it's like the you know somewhat similar to the marner conversation well you guys said to do
something well the implication was i wanted it to be a smart something yeah you know the oilers
wanted to do something all right well let's get tristan jari who was available to you via waivers
for on waivers for free last season and he had a hot month and a half and all of a sudden you're
like okay we want him for the next few years that's craziness and uh dubis used kulak who
was also in that deal got a younger arguably better defenseman at very minimum he's younger
and got paid to do it it's incredible holy shit the least would never do that because he's under
six feet tall right which is so stupid too i got having some size but good lord now they really
went in the other direction you looked uh last night and they win the game 8-1 and you don't
need goaltending if you score eight goals a game right which is why they should try to get better
outside of the team or outside of the goaltending by the way i should mention penguins pr just
tweeted out that sam gerrard will not practice today as he's undergoing value evaluation for
a lower body injury oh so he played his first game got injured it looks like i want to give
you the comparables between uh our good friends tristan jari and stewart skitter since the trade
because i think this kind of drives the point home uh stewart skitter and tristan jars has
been traded for each other's from sleeper nhl skitter is eight four and one with an 887 save
percentage 272 goals against average uh at a minus 2.8 gold save above expectation so
fine especially for a 2.5 million dollar goaltender right jari six four and one eight
six three save percentage 385 goals against average he does have the one shutout and have
negative 9.6 goals save above expectation can i this is so weak i feel horrible for him jari yeah
why because he very obviously stinks and so does the oilers defense though we should say that
yeah or his defense is awful but like
there's nothing to be gained from just oh man look at him he's so bad he's so bad gosh look
how bad he is i know the paychecks still arrive on time and everything but like
there's nothing to be said there other than holy smokes he's bad he's so damn bad
and he doesn't exactly present himself like a guy who's got a ton of confidence right now
and i just feel like i i know you know sports talk is full of kicking guys while they're down but
this one guy in particular just like there's no there's no story to him at the current moment
other than he's bad yes and might win a cup he might win the most hilarious cup
i just feel bad for the guy yeah me too me too anyway uh that's uh things are not going well
there now uh jesse can you pull up and i've just highlighted it there the adam fox uh this is from
um sportsnet new york and they've got this crazy clip of adam fox talking after a game and remember
the rangers are even worse than the leafs i had them in the playoffs this year listen to what he
says about his future in new york you obviously have a lot of control over your situation with
But, you know, when the class is disciplined, do you want to be here through it?
I mean, I'm just trying to, you know, focus on this year right now and play each game.
I mean, that's really all I could do right now, could control is, you know,
I was just trying to work to get back and help the team finish strong.
So I think that's where my head's at, obviously.
You know, that's the focus right now.
And I think that's a conversation when we're going to play against
We're trying to when you have to do that tonight
And I think that's where that's where my focus is right now
Remarkable, but how's that water, Jesse?
Delicious.
They are, man.
It's funny.
There are certain ticks a player has when they're asked questions like that.
And guys who are asked about getting traded, they do the
they do the laugh before they get asked you're gonna start noticing it now um but year after
year after year um i i think especially for a player who you know he's represented his country
he's one of the highest paid defensemen in the league he's a star um he's not i think there's
an element of oh holy shit we're here oh i never thought this would happen to me and here i am
and you know even though he saw so many of his teammates getting traded around him you never
expect it to to be you especially when you're good um and he's had a pretty damn good season
um at least offensively anyway um boy it's i'm still waiting and yes this is rich coming from
a leafs fan but it takes one to know one um i'm waiting for the first positive ranger story of the
season they just get kicked that's a good question dude let's name it let's go let's go through that
like like at least last year was like hey they got will borgen he seems good and they got a new
extension well and like even like oh okay well trochek and miller won gold medals well yeah but
not for the rain that's not a ranger story like and they came back even the trading panarin thing
like you know you could talk about the return they got or whatever and i some people loved it
some people hated it i think it's fine enough liam gree tree seems like he's gonna be a player
yes but it's disappointing because of the no movement clause you at best you're arguing they
did well given the circumstances but no fan wants to care about that did my team do well or not
i like that player he's our best player other than the goalie he's our best player what do
we get for him what do you mean not much right it's we're still waiting for our first positive
rangers story damn you're right you're right like you could probably point to well you know
this guy's having a pretty good season oh this rookie here guys rangers fans are hilarious about
it by the way if watching rangers twitter like they are so they're very funny oh you they are
they are in they're so sardonic it's amazing there's an art to being a fan of a team that's
doing really bad really bad we almost lost that art we used to be pretty funny at least twitter
was very funny before this run of matthews neil andrew marner i think right now we're in the
depression stage but the humor will come out again one day we'll get this will be funny one day we'll
get all those fans back yeah it's missing the oilers being bad was part of the fabric of hockey
twitter and we had it ripped away from us the canucks too yeah we're getting back to that we're
getting back to our roots yeah um i think there was a team here that made the conference finals
a couple times actually yep and chris jury saw that team and he yard sailed it to the moon
and now we're in a place where he's tried to retool this organization every side in which way
and get rid of guys and shuffle the decks and bring in everything and it's just a disaster and
they've they have an opportunity here to get the first overall pick who knows how the ping pong
balls are going to fall but they're going to have the second best odds after vancouver and i don't
think that's a place anybody in that organization thought they'd be just based on the moves they've
made but now they're they need to accept that and if you're another team you might have an
opportunity here to take a player who in his second year in the league won the norris trophy
and adam fox and in the 24th season finished second in norris trophy voting if it wasn't for
eric carlson's uh biggest joke of a north trophy ever where he put up 100 points on the sharks and
won the north trophy here didn't make the playoffs so conor mcdavid didn't get a heart trophy when
he didn't make the playoffs but eric carlson got in the air carlson's 100 point makes it
yeah uh but adam fox who came second that year but whatever you might have an opportunity here
to steal one of the best defensemen in the league from the rangers and take advantage of a chris
jury who is not very good at his job and send some assets there and maybe he still thinks that
the rangers are close despite being the second worst team in the league and you can get adam
fox and if i'm another gm if i'm the 31 other gms just like how quinn hughes should have been
in the conversation for every team in the league adam fox should be like on the corner of your
whiteboard maybe we can send some assets there and get this guy man i'm just looking they have
so much money locked up forever for no reason for a bad team yeah the zibanejad is forever
miller is forever lafreniere is forever even trocek has two years left after this one
it sounds like igor contracts new but you want that i guess yeah i think you want that one
assuming he's healthy cooley is obviously yeah radish carrick uh edstrom rempe all have a year
left um perot has a year left labba has a year left like they have nothing the reason i'm pointing
that out is they have nothing coming off the books really yep um now maybe that's all right
because the current trend is you get more for guys with term maybe that's good maybe they can
be the bell of the ball they have two first round picks um but boy again who knows maybe by the end
of next week we get our first good ranger story i'm sure rangers fans know more about it and like
you know please tell me like maybe there have been some good things don't get micro about it though
well no this guy got a hat trick on that no stop we're talking about season-long stuff tell me
about a week you uh you were in a good mood because of the rangers for a week straight
tell me about that i don't think they've had that the leafs at least got that we felt good for a
week do you think chris drury can work in a front office again after his time is inevitably done in
new york because everybody gets fired in new york million percent yeah what are you talking about
there's 10 guys working the nhl is he ever but he's wearing different hats is he pete shirelli
like is he ever a gm again does pete shirelli not have a job right he's an agm yeah so what
what adam's talking about leading a friend shirely hasn't gotten a job sorry yeah shirely hasn't
gotten a gm job and john ferguson jr is another guy who's been working in the nhl for the 20 years
since he got canned by the leafs but still hasn't been a gm so chris jury will have a job in hockey
for as long as he wants but will he lead a front office that's that's a better question again
you don't he's not that old you don't see many guys get separate second opportunities to leave
front offices unless they win so i guess the answer is no but he'll be around the problem is
um like i'm trying to think of the teams jury played for um because i mean part of the reason
you get the rangers job is you played for the rangers you played for the rangers
yarmo's doing a pretty good job in buffalo so far like do you join them i don't yeah i don't know
i don't know it's bleak it's bleak man i think i don't think the franchise turns around until
you get rid of him wow there's nothing i think there's enough evidence to see that he does not
have a good grasp on what he has in front of him it's uh it's just been it's still good it's still
good for two years though just a little airborne it's still good it's still good it's just a little
barkley goodrow it's still good it's like oh it's just a little jacob truba it's still good it's
still good and you took all that cap space and spend it on what exactly like you weren't able
to add right i guess you needed it just to keep the goalie you lost keandre miller who like
i don't know where why there was a fire there you're not good you could use young players on
your not good team you sent him in division there's so much there's so much i don't get
the other new york team by the way is looking to add they're apparently still
willing to add to their top six and last night we knew it was going to happen but it finally
happened a player who in 56 games in the ohl two years ago had 17 points three of them goals
has 18 and is 18 years old i can't believe it at the nhl level two years later 41 points but the
18 is key because matthew shaver passed phil housley for the most goals by an 18 year old
defenseman in league history phil housley is one of the best defensemen to ever play hockey it's
still february yeah it's nuts but the next record he's chasing most goals by a rookie defenseman
in a season so matthew schaefer currently sits at number nine on the all-time list with 18 goals
the record is brian leach with 23 goals in 68 games incredible crazy uh he said that with the
rangers in the 88 89 season there are people in the in a lot of people in the way of schaefer
like i said he's at nine but just a couple goals will spring him into the top four there
enough is the only player to do it in the cap era yeah uh so he has a chance to break the cap era
record for enough set that and you can bring it back up justin if enough set that in the 0506
season he had 20 goals so two more he typhoon of three more he breaks the cap era record and then
yeah he just take it chasing barry beck of the colorado rockies and brian leach of the new york
rangers man people forget how what a force dion was when he came into the league oh my god he was
crazy he'll forever be um the calder trophy race that year was ovechkin won it crosby was runner
up and number three was dion finoff that's nuts because he was crazy what do we think about shane
goss despair being at number 12 he had a great rookie year 64 games 17 goals he's had a great
career and he's having a great year right now he had there was like that fall off and he reinvented
himself it's amazing what he's been able to do the ghost bear yeah i remember what the first time
steve brought him up on the podcast was he philly then when was it philly philly and you're like
there's this guy and he's gonna be in the all-star game and no one's heard of him and you pronounced
his name goss just be or no goss despair goss despair but you're like he's goss just be here
at the all-star that's how it's spelled ever whenever i'm spelling it i'm like goss tis be
here yeah yeah it's like dustin bufflin julian you should see this guy you goss just be here
to see how good he plays he's played 730 career games 450 points as a d that's crazy he's had a
good year man or a good if you if you're anchor if you had if you told an nhl general manager
okay you can draft gavin mckenna or i can guarantee you you will draft this player who
may be better or may be worse but they will have as a defenseman in 700 games they'll have 450
points the gm is going to be like i'll i'll draft the guy i know we'll have 450 points that's crazy
just shy of a point a game this year uh 38 points in 41 games nine of them goals he was the 78th
pick in the much maligned 2012 yeah one of the worst drafts of all time nhl draft well you know
it it allowed for there to be diamonds in the rough right and he certainly was one that's a
that's a crazy pick i have a follow-up question about matthew shaver hit it matthew shaver
famously maybe not famously from hamilton ontario does he have a chance to be the greatest nhler
ever from hamilton i think number one is this is who he's chasing dave anderchuk oh that's gonna
that's up there that's an all-time hall of famer but after that it's is pretty it's a low bar
okay i think you can jump it we got darnell nurse oh marty mcsorley okay nelson emerson
i like nelson emerson derrick king i'm surprised by this list yeah i'm surprised it's not better
ben charotte mark jengowski pat quinn as a player but uh that doesn't count and john
tonelli i don't know i'm not familiar with john i remember john 836 points murray oliver
728 points he was born in 1937 emerson is fifth ryan ellis should be higher up on that list but
injuries ron murphy dude i'm shocked blake dunlop i think there's a chance that mackie
schaefer is the second best player in the history of hamilton ontario he might be that tomorrow
right now this is disrespectful the babe die how long until he passes steve steos
1001 games but 220 points probably four years maybe yeah not not too far off yeah
so where's schaefer now uh how many career points he's 41 it's 41 career point 41 career point there
you go so he is on this list of people from hamilton he'd be 27th so he's all next year
he will be in the top probably 15 well top 10 or not excuse me not top top 20 is what i meant to
say oh yeah yeah well top 20 would be 137 points oh that's impossible yeah i know but you know what
it's a it's not just about points it's just about playing right and i think yeah oh that's the thing
he's a defenseman yeah my bad and dave andrew check played in the 80s and the early 90s like
okay now dave was fucking awesome i think he's gonna make the next olympic team
shaver yeah hot take yeah he might be drew's not gonna like this you come here for brave
he might be the he might be the number one defenseman and kale bakar might be number two
at that point oh might be nhl moves fast all right starting your franchise today who do you
want dave anderchuk or matthew shaver oh anderchuk's too old yeah at their current ages
if if dave anderchuk is able to play hockey in this era because like you got to remember the
way they played hockey back then is like i'm gonna slap this buck to you and then you slap
it back it's not now these kids are fucking talented it's insane okay you have to start
your franchise the year that ander chuck was a rookie or you start your franchise this year
where schaefer's a rookie which franchise you starting well ander chuck was with the sabers
so schaefer you you get to be the leafs oh okay so this is a hypothetical yeah oh wow
You just picked that up, eh?
All right.
Wow.
You know, it took several different variations of the same question for Steve to get.
Hypothetical.
Oh, goodness.
It wasn't the part where I said you could take him now at his age.
Or the part that you own an NHL team.
You can find scoring wingers, maybe not to the insane level that Dave Andercheck was.
And he was a great leader and a great guy.
matt schaefer is a once in a generation player i've got to find i've got to find a substitute
to coffee holy shit yeah you need your coffee oh my god you need to get some celsius um i i think
you can honestly make the case right now that matthew schaefer is the best nhler to come out
of hamilton that's crazy will be that is crazy will be he's got you gotta play you gotta play
they had to play the games that's true skill-wise if you said skill-wise i'd be like yeah probably
it's a little disrespectful to anderson like he's at hall of fame yeah i know but matt schaefer you
talk about importance to a franchise matt schaefer is the the piece i'm taking the franchise with
schaefer i've already done this but it needs to be reiterated every time you bring up matthew
schaefer he already as a rookie in an incomplete season has more career nhl points than he did in
the oh hl nuts it's insane side note to all of this what does this do to the legacy of lane hudson
where he comes in hot shot rookie defenseman does the assist thing a lot of people harping
on the secondary sorry you mean the the second yeah the secondary is merchant lane hudson not
even a year later i guess a year later matthew schaefer comes into the league and eats his lunch
money no as a better rookie defenseman i can't wait oh no islanders and habs fans just go like
get into those cartoon fight balls you know the dust balls they're there arms and legs kicking
out for the next 10 years about it i can't wait again well yeah no hughes mccarr is that's so
yesterday we need schaefer hudson for no good reason i'm honest i'm honestly shocked it hasn't
become a bigger storyline that's because they haven't played in the playoffs yet you just wait
who are you taking franchise starting tomorrow oh hudson schaefer man she's so good but yes i want
lane hudson oh he's just you're playing on the montreal again he's younger so and breaking
records so i know i know hudson did too but he did it older you're asking me to split hairs between
two extremely talented people yeah i want it to be both by the way i just let me put that out there
Yeah, can we have both?
No.
Well, then give me Schaefer.
That's not how your draft pick works.
Then give me Schaefer.
You're not Kyle Dubas trading your one pick for two picks.
Lane Hudson is pretty friggin' special, too.
You know what's funny is how little he's been in the news this year,
but he's got more than a point a game.
Lane Hudson.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
No, he's crazy.
He's insane.
That team.
Oh, my God.
I'd like to hear from the people.
The Canadians are going to.
Hudson versus Schaefer.
By the way, how is Lane Hudson a second round pick?
yeah that's that's the other thing i gotta say is that like the leafs are like oh we don't have
first round picks buddy nize was a second round pick lane hudson's a second round pk suban was
a second round pick you could find great talent nearly every draft was a third round yes he was
nearly every draft has one player who everyone knew was going to be good and he falls to the
second round and it's like why why did you do that why did everyone do that to bring cat yeah
suban i remember suban and connect me too uh he just he was at the very end of the first round
okay let me leaves could have picked him and didn't i'm gonna i'm gonna i'm gonna find that
no so instead of getting connect me they got sandin who they turned into a first who they
turn into cowan who they're ruining so i don't know would you rather have that or connect me
24th overall i wonder if connect me gets traded by the way the the flyers stink hey yeah but this
is the first year by the way in the last five that they're not last in power play they're 30th
they're so hyper focused on culture and i think he's everything they want their players to be he
is the man i want him to be here i just love him i know i you're trying to talk that into happening
and it's not gonna work man crush the adam you're so right about like oh how do you do things in
drafts how do you do whatever montreal got your eye slavkovsky and lane hudson in the same draft
that's franchise changing yeah yeah like you can you're allowed to make really good picks of good
players because they exist in the draft and they hit on both those guys and look at them now and
jesse you could make the argument that lane hudson should have been the first overall pick and
slavkovsky should have been the whatever if you want you can i think lane hudson got more points
than slavkoski this year like i don't i don't know i don't know well i am that's what i'm saying
like if you were to redo that draft lane hudson might go first overall you're right so like i
don't know yeah like i'm so fucking sick and this comes from a toronto perspective you guys all know
that i'm so fucking sick of the leaf saying but i can't fuck you get out of here there's yes you
can get some good pro scouts and listen to them they're so weak and boring yeah like
they really are montreal's such an alpha chad now too like they're they're like the young
alpha chad with the big chiseled jaw coming into the vision like this will be ours soon
all they have to do is unseat the sort of busted tampa bay lightning and that's not going to be
easy uh that is the tampa bay lightning or season they've been there but it's coming in the next
couple of years you know it's coming there no they're very close to if not already their cup
contender territory i don't necessarily think they have the goal tending to be a cup contender
right now but they're they're like right there yep yep good times good times two and five canadians

so steve you got a poster for your show yeah it's called the steve dangle show on cbc i'm kidding it
is it's uh no oh there you go it's canada reads pull it back that's where it's in focus there you
go canada reads i'm one of the five champions on canada reads championing championing championing
uh a book i'm doing so great drink coffee what is wrong with you it's not good for your ulcer
it's not good i don't know do it uh dr jesse's a drink coffee you know what i'm just gonna do it
no uh so that's coming out uh in april april 13th to 16th on cbc we all pick a book and we're
gonna champion it and tell you it's the best book and we're all gonna compete and get eliminated
one by one so i'm hoping to win this thing and my book is called searching for terry punch out
it is a short uh hockey fictional novel which are very uh popular right now this is actually
the most popular one and i highly uh highly recommend so people should read the book before
the show comes out yes so here's what i gotta do and what everyone who watches and listens to the
show is encouraged to do uh you are supposed to get all five books so that you can take part
um in the debate and and if you're like oh my god five books how am i gonna do that
local library local library library people yep so we got uh myself obviously searching for terry
punch out morgan book that feels unfair um she's doing it's different this time by josh richard
who you know joss joss sorry joss rich joss was my josh richard josh josh my bad yeah
joss was my producer on when i was working for the entertainment part of city tv back in the day
with breakfast television we did the grammys together uh along with our other uh producers
cassandra and merrily who are amazing amazing producers and city tv doesn't have any of them
employed anymore which is bonkers to me um but joss was like even back then there was something
about her she was super ambitious i remember one day she just basically decided all right i'm going
to the states now and she just did and uh when i think she worked for netflix for a while just
and going and making it in la is one thing and she did and then she wrote a book too because
she just can and a very very nice person i will always root for her what is it like for you to
know so many best-selling authors it's crazy uh standing next to to gods and joss you know it's
crazy she's the only one i know that hasn't written a story about the zoo and i it's such a
hot you know there's there's withering heights like romance style novels there's crime novels
and then there's zoo novels and zoo novels as we know are the greatest novels they're
zoo novels 100 we also got josh de la cruz you might know him as josh from blues clues he's
also been on the broadway production of aladdin he's doing foe by ian reed we have tegan quinn
of tegan and sarah fame she's doing the cure for drowning by logan paler and elma tail feathers
she's doing a minor chorus by billy ray belcor so we are your champions this year for canada reads
what's morgan book's real name that's her real name actually that's her real name wow it's not
it's also like insanely famous it's not dangle oh she has over two million followers on tiktok
yeah i i i'm pretty sure i know the person that produces her podcast and she's apparently also
extraordinarily kind like a really nice person when so i uh we shot this poster on like a like
a promo shoot day and uh one of the people in charge of canada reads i i got them alone for
a sec i was like did you pick me last you can tell me it's it's fine was i your last pick you
can tell me because i'm just looking at this list like that's insane that's you need to get what is
this what are you talking about clues okay take it and share it you're also a famous canadian person
hey you know how do i make this about steve uh that's the question i had but i'm kidding
i just wanted to know um the the read the books read steve's book and then it works like american
idol people are voting for each book right so make sure you watch it on april 13th and you vote
for steve so he wins i want you to win this competition yeah so i believe we vote out each
other but there there is an audience uh okay i know there's there's audience participation for
sure right absolutely yeah um the only book that doesn't have an audiobook is searching for terry
punch out which is my book um but it's 188 pages and they're also working on an audiobook right now
and i think it should come out soon awesome now you'd be shocked by this uh steve has an ulcer
but but steve the the way that you came to find this out starts with hitting your head against
your car window no kind of that's not really what happened that's so yeah i had a bad monday
so here let me all right do it let me go back in time so november i'm told like hey lose some
weight and i'm like okay they're internet and they're like no i'm your doctor and i'm like oh
shit. All right. Well, I guess I got to listen this time. And, uh, so I didn't eat a lot in
December, but also I was sick most of December and I had a couple of other ailments. So I was
just popping Advil every day and like usually more than once a day. And once I was finally
on the other side of it, um, like I was like my tummy hoots. Um, so made a doctor's appointment
to address that, but hadn't quite gotten there yet. On Monday I did smack my head because I
drove over a snowbank by accident uh on our way into into the alley but later that night oh yes
because i smacked my head i took more advil even though i was trying to avoid it which is great
right um and uh and also like i had strayed a little bit i had a little bit of spicy food and
stuff i'm on the couch i'm drawing with leo and having a good time and all of a sudden i'm on the
floor like i'm just doubled over my stomach's on fire um this is this isn't like the acid reflex
i've been dealing with or anything stomach was on fire you know took took some like pepto or
whatever the pain subsided a bit but then i just got ice cold and then i just started chattering
and shivering and everything like it was a really sudden fever my wife's like googling stuff and
she's like if you think you have an ulcer and then you get a sudden fever you're supposed to go to
the hospital i'm like oh okay great good that's so good what i really want to do is step out in
the cold right now so uh went to the hospital and uh they uh do an echocardiogram and i'm like
am i dying like what's going on but apparently sometimes people think they have a stomach issue
and they're actually having a heart attack i wasn't to the shock of many um but they're like
yeah we're gonna get you hooked up we're gonna give you this medicine that medicine that medicine
um and we're gonna give you a ct scan i'm like i don't even know what that is cool
can't wait to do that um and while they're they're prepping me for the iv i've been there
so many hours i haven't eaten i haven't drank i'm extremely tired and um at one point i just
felt nauseous went to go throw up didn't um i was like oh good it subsided and when i went to stand
back up i like fell into the wall like friggin lahey leaving the the trailer from trailer park
boy julian and i like laughed because i'm like oh huh silly me and i tried to get up again i just
fall right on my ass and i all i was one percent conscious it was the closest i've ever come to
going completely out there was one nurse and then when i come to there's three if you're gonna faint
anywhere i think the hospital the hospital literally in the emergency i love that they
they they took care of you on the way down too they did and like oh what's your name what year
is it where are you all all that stuff and like uh i was out of it enough that i don't remember
what i said i remember what i thought but i don't remember so one of the nurses is like four foot
eight and i wanted to be like i'm so sorry you're so small like i'm like i don't mean to you have
to pick me up and i'm big and you're small and i'm sorry there was another woman i didn't recognize
like she i hadn't met her yet and i'm like oh thank you i don't know who you are but thank you
did you say these things i don't think so okay i was thinking all of them i'd be like who's this
awkward man i'm sure they get way worse than that oh yeah no but i felt bad i didn't want to be
fussed over i felt really bad um so anyway they took care of me and everything and it's probably
and also i gotta go do some other stuff but they hooked me up with some you're unsure right you
still have to do testing well you need a scope and you got to be out for a scope and where they
put the camera down your friggin throat stoked for that um but on my way out um this guy in the
emergency room goes uh hey you're steve dangle and uh one of the nurses who helped me was like
are you famous i was like no i make youtube videos and he goes you make the best youtube videos
nice i shook his hand and i was like this guy got me a blanket earlier i feel really silly
i feel really silly did you tell her that you're gonna be on cbc canada
no i did not and that was a really that's a lost opportunity for promo yeah you should have said
read the punch out hey hey if you like those videos you should check out cbc reads there's
canada reads excuse me yeah yeah that's you need to be promoing at all times what's wrong with you
do it's canadian media here so but now um so having um having an ulcer is uh it's anti-italian
discrimination because you're supposed to avoid coffee and you're also supposed to avoid tomatoes
and tomato sauce and i think that's at at best xenophobic um yeah no spicy food no nothing so
mopey about it and so now you just get to be bland boy i get to be bland boy well good for you
yeah that's good yeah here's my dad of it and it will heal itself right yeah dad's birthday
yesterday my parents are like oh yeah we're getting portuguese i'm like cool can't wait to
have no piri piri with my portuguese food that's that's cool awesome hey pass the rice thanks
appreciate the rice rice is good rice is great but it's not as good as the other shits
ah can you have garlic i don't know i'll google it probably all right yeah that's good at least
okay cut garlic out that sucks that's discrimination that's it's bullshit yeah
okay so i've been having grass water aka green tea how how have you found that because there's
some people that move off of coffee on a green tea and they're like it's just the same and i'm
like i doubt that no it's super not oh but the caffeine i haven't had one since monday um no
coffee is so much more intense did you get caffeine withdrawal no luckily not no because
like i'm still having it but the way it hits you is completely different oh but it's better steve
smoking weed is the exact same as gummies what the no it isn't it's kind of like that and the
lfr is 14 minutes i'm like this guy hasn't been drinking his coffee where's the where's the 22
minutes i know i'm yelling at keith belly there there are we didn't get that there are caffeine
pills you can get so maybe you pop those i am positive that is the wrong direction for me
well no they're sold at like the drugstore it's not like bad for you it's just you avoid the
coffee and the acidity oh i'll look into stuff but also i don't know maybe i should chill
all right i have an ulcer maybe i should freaking chill and shingles last year like i mentioned
there you go yeah no don't worry i'm taking care of myself okay but i i want an espresso right now
more than i want my next breath um uh i have to tell this story very quickly because uh my mom
who's been at uh chum which is a radio station in toronto for 40 years uh a couple that were
yesterday announced that she is stepping away now she's adamant she's not retiring oh uh and
everybody she says stepping away and then everybody's like well congrats on your retirement
because she's 67 um but uh she even told me she was like i am not retiring i was like okay
i don't know um but what was funniest about it is uh i didn't know that she was doing that
um and yeah so justin uh justin said hey congrats when's maryland joining sdpn and then i said well
you'll be funny story she didn't tell me and he's like well she told us so that's embarrassing no
but my mom has always taken uh non-disclosures very seriously and she'd signed an nda and so
she didn't tell me and she didn't tell my wife and tried to call me at 6 30 in the morning to
let me know half an hour beforehand it was going to happen were you sleeping and i was sleeping
because i've been up till 1 a.m because remember you you once you finish those streams you can't
go to sleep right away you're too fired up so i was 6 30 yeah so i wake up at 7 30 and i'm like
why is there four missed calls from mom like i figured that they wanted me to talk about the
leafs or something i'm like all right so i called her i'm like what's going on and she's like well
and then i was like oh okay wow uh are you okay uh she's like yeah and she seemed like excited
about it so uh anyway my mom stepped away and didn't tell me and what's crazy about that she
didn't tell you is hey marilyn come on the reaction all day yesterday when i told people
that they're like you guys are talking right yeah are you guys okay adam's gone non-contact
yeah yeah no she's it's no we're talking it's all good it's uh it was just something that
that was her decision um so anyway long story short uh she'll be stepping away big career
40 years at one radio station in the same job is fucking insane um 40 years anywhere is insane 40
years married 40 years uh living in the same house is insane 40 years at the same job is
nigh on improbable uh and the fact is that their ratings were good all the way through too so i'm
pretty damn proud of that fact for her she joined in 1986 um and that was two years before i was
born so the thing for me is that when she steps away officially this summer this will be the first
these will be the first days of my life where she's never worked there
wow 40 years yeah you're not 40 not yet wow yeah so and i grew up like the old building like i grew
up going to work with her and like you know if we had to go in early because we always did
i would sometimes take a nap during the morning show i can remember sitting there i played
you know i grew up with roger ashby her former co-host's kid uh and like at that time in the
morning basically the entire radio station was ours like we could there's nobody else there
so we would go and watch tv and i remember going to get snacks from the vending machine and and
also being in that room and it is what set me up for what i wanted to do here because this show
is a lot of what i kind of gleaned when i was a little kid which is it's supposed to be fun
and i why the reason i wanted to go into radio is because they were always laughing
uh i was like man that sounds that sounds way more fun than what everybody else seems to be doing
um so yeah i mean it's a it's a it was a big day but the big day hasn't happened yet right that'll
come in the summer yeah when she doesn't sign off but signs off yeah i mean i i think there's
gonna be some time where her and because her husband's still working my stepfather um so i
think they'll they're going like we're going on a trip this summer with them and then um i would
imagine that whatever it is she's going to do because i actually do not know clearly um would
be the next year but i don't think it's going to be like well she's going back to morning radio
like i think it'll be something else i just don't know what it's going to be i don't know if the
american listeners really grasp what marilyn dennis means to canadian media i just wanted
to get some of the numbers right so i was looking at the pr release again and she did 34 years on
television yep including her 40 years simultaneously doing radio yep and they had some awesome notes
in there just about her entire career in that when she joined the radio station that she started at
in idaho she was the first female uh dj ever at that station krpl and she was a revolutionary
at her time she she eventually from there moved to like calgary and did radio there
did every job there at that calgary station and then became our equivalent uh oprah in terms of
daytime television here in canada and did that for like is it 34 years yeah and that show highly
rated won every award you can win in canada for television and then her radio show because of the
importance of radio and the connection you build with people and audiences in radio the way you
you don't do in some ways through television she continued that the whole time and built this cult
following in canada through both of those mediums yeah and it's not just the people who love from
television it's not just people who love radio it's for both and then that combined into this
incredible legacy that she has here uh in canada and in media it's incredible and worth mentioning
uh a good chunk of the start of this show was in her basement i think this you can make the
argument that the formation of the show occurred in her house uh so yeah it's a it was good it's
cool and you know what's cool is that jess like jess and i got to work down the hall uh now covet
interrupted what should have been a much longer sort of stint doing that because it was like we
worked there a year it was great and then everybody went home and didn't come back for a couple of
years but um you know we at least some people never came back yeah some people never came back
in fact it's true uh but i i look at uh i look at that time as something that was really special
because we got to work dueling morning shows across the hall yeah which was neat and you
still do as of like two weeks ago we'll go in and co-host that show with her yeah i'm i well i filled
in for her two weeks ago two weeks from now i'm going to be doing running the board with her and
her co-host david and then i'm going to be hosting with her in june and i think that'll be it for me
after that probably in terms of filling in uh but uh the fact is that i started my radio career
there as an intern so to be able to finish it out how'd you get that job off you'd be you'd be
shocked i really hustled he walked in with his resume and he said i'm gonna be the best decision
you've ever made i i basically i i uh i gregory campbell it for sure um but no no is it gregory
campbell who was the guy no chuck fletcher i checked oh my god who's this wunderkind this
25 year old agm in florida how did he possibly get this job he's so young i forgot about that
yeah yeah no i i i knew some people uh shockingly but i never interned on her show i interned on
the evening show and it was the morning show producer tom jogek that taught me how to run a
radio board um and uh and that was it so yeah like i never actually worked there at chum full
time i was offered jobs there i remember i was 22 and uh the program director who's now her co-host
called me he's like adam want to come work at chum and i was like david i'll be honest with
you guys talk like 30 seconds an hour uh i don't think that's good for my development and he's like
well you'd be on the winning team and you'd make more money i still i still turned him down and
then he said he called my mom like 30 seconds later and then she called me she's like were
you just offered a job at chum and i said yeah and she's like you're 22 she's like and you turned
it down and i was like yep and she's like okay all right you're an adult you make your decisions
she was definitely a little disappointed so uh it's it's funny how it all comes if you have a
samsung tv they have a default like samsung tv channel it just runs on your samsung tv and you
play during the daytime your mom's show is just running yeah this is all the time isn't that what
we have behind steve that's a couple of them hanging around your mom shows on at samsung tv
yeah three years later hilarious anyway so that's what's happening uh steve's got an ulcer and my
mom's retiring jesse what about you what do you have what life news uh the hockey's back and i'm
happy all right are you going to think is the game on saturday saturday ottawa so steve's gonna be
streaming that will be i get to go back to the arena eat the free pizza and the free popcorn
And if you're crazy enough to actually want to go see them in person,
your job now is to take pictures of the press box, Jesse, and tweet them.
I wonder how ticket sales will be for the Leafs.
Well, okay.
When was the last time we had a situation where ticket sales might be tanking?
I meant to put this in the show earlier, but it'll be an Easter egg for the end.
Do you know that you can pick up Leafs tickets at Costco now?
What?
Oh, like the Sens did?
Yeah.
But the thing is that used to never happen.
but i think what's happening is costco is buying the leafs overstock so the least can still claim
sellout but it's now costco selling some tickets which you never that never happened never i wonder
if uh people are going to treat the leafs same way they treated the sense for that because i
thought it was a really smart thing to do to get more fans and sure the entire center and people
dumped on the sense for some reason all over twitter uh when those people like oh look at
sends tickets to costco the franchise is folding all that stuff are we see that same treatment for
at least oh you can make fun of leaf fans yeah i guess the answer is yes no no people are going
to do what they always do throw leafs fans a bone all right well that's it for us until monday but
steve's got the stream tomorrow night uh anything else this weekend are we for formula one's ramping
up back next week.
So there's going to be
some episodes.
Are you excited to watch
Quinn Hughes on SNL?
Actually, I hope they do
a seeing ghosts sketch.
I am hoping for that.
Like Regis is terrified.
I bet he's going to nail it.
