Sometimes life throws your curveballs and you don't have time to get to them and that's where
TaskRabbit comes in and I think you should check this out because here's the deal.
One of the things, one of the weird quirks about my condo building is that they use my floor
to repel down and clean all the windows but they never clean my windows.
And their way around on that is like, well, it's a patio window, you can do that yourself.
And I'm like, well, hang on a second.
What if I don't want to?
I don't have the stuff because you got to have that scraper thing and the washer thing.
The chemicals, you got to have the right chemicals.
see what i'm saying that's why i used task rabbit and i employed a tasker here's the thing task

third haha no it's not it's january the third really bad dates oh boy before this too oh
listen i'll be honest with you we've done a lot of episodes adam how old is jacob truba
jacob truba is 30 but i thought he was 28 and you know what at one point he was
i didn't have a point you know what recite the patrick line a trade from memory oh god uh 2026
second rounder i don't know and some other shit i don't know uh probably not enough the way he's
playing in montreal the internet got really mad at you yeah you know what i can't wait to go to
montreal and personally celebrate that second round pick we're doing it in 2026 for the draft
we're going back to montreal like we did in 22 and we're going we're gonna go celebrate and we're
not even gonna we're gonna ignore the first round fuck the first round we are there for the halves
pick second round 2026 and that alone is it important to get trade details correct uh
occasionally it's pretty important actually but you know what screw that i was hoping you'd say
no no it is it's very old to the bit listen they were right they were right i don't know
they were right regression to the mean do i hate it yeah exactly thank you uh all right now today
it will be 2025's
Hot Take-A-Palooza.
I wish we had like a gong or something we could hit.
But this is a fun one.
You should have told me. My dad literally has a gong.
Does he? He has a gong.
Next year it will be like Hot Take-A-Palooza.
It's heavy as shit. I bet it is.
And a wrecked subwoofer guy.
This is our third
annual. I don't know if we have any
traditions that have held up this long.
This is our third annual Hot Take-A-Palooza
which is very exciting. I'm thrilled.
I'm excited. And we're going to start with
a couple of hot takes from last year that you're mad about and it was interesting because i had
somebody dm me about something from jesse and jesse you want to bring up something from steve
and i think that's where we're going to start i had somebody in the chat when i was filling in
for you on your saturday night stream a couple weeks ago somebody in the chat said you have to
bring up steve's take from hot take a palooza to electric boogaloo uh so i'm gonna play this for
you i assume you remember where we're going with this but i have never seen an ice colder hot take
than this no goalie is going to sign a double digit contract for at least five and i'm tempted
to say 10 years and i don't even know if you need anything more than that that is the line
that you said into a microphone you guaranteed it you locked it in at hot take a palooza to
electric boogaloo and less than a calendar year later igor shusterkin signed for 11.5 million
dollars what the hell are you thinking so what's what's changed what's wrong with you it's oh my
god do we have time um what's changed is the cap is going way up and also because of what hellebuck
signed for and no soros hadn't signed by then because of what hellebuck signed for i was like
it ain't happening um and i was like okay i'm hedging my bet shisterkin is not gonna sign for
double digit which means who who's going to in the foreseeable future if shisterkin doesn't
right who is the next goalie up to get huge money right sure like even sorrow signed i think it was
like six months after that and he's last year i think most people would probably agree he's like
a top five-ish goalie in the league true right you got igor you got hellebuck you got demko's
probably in that conversation when he's healthy uh sorrows probably in that conversation right
that's that's where the logic was and i'm like okay it ain't gonna be igor and therefore it's
gonna be no one you go you go jesse the peanut gallery meaning me peanuts often chirps at you
steve dangle for not listening and in this case i think i have to stand up and do it again because
you've had a man sitting next to you on the right telling you for literally years that the salary
cap is going up and that either whether or not why are you doing that i'm sorry whether or not
you want to believe it or not whether you think it's fact or fiction adam's been telling you
the cap's going up in fact my my uh my line for my podcast the adam wild show is facts don't care
about your feelings it was me that came up with that me snowflake steve how about feelings don't
care about your facts and i feel like enough times you you've said it's going up enough times
and enough times it's been true yeah or sorry it's been not true right yeah it's been wrong yeah
yeah it's going up okay no hold on hold on hold on when did i say it was going up and it didn't
I don't know.
I don't fucking listen.
Listen, I don't have the sources of Christopher Johnson or Elliot Friedman or Steve Dangle.
Not quite yet.
But I do have the business sources.
That's one thing I am proud of.
And I know no one gives a shit, but I'll tell you all about the board at MLSC.
uh and and and uh in all honesty uh the reality was that uh the the money was going so high so
quickly what other choice the cap going up is good for the leafs yes use that why would anything good
happen ever happen to the leaf that's fair you sat here a year ago and you didn't believe that
we'd be living in this reality right now where we could be looking at a hundred million dollar
nhl cap within the next two years and a goalie like igor commanding that dollar amount when it
came to the nhl i defaulted to optimism which or sorry i defaulted to pessimism which in my defense
is usually correct yes yeah and that's fair i don't i don't blame you for that but what's the
point of this show if we don't call out the coldest takes ever adam i believe you have another one
now uh this one comes specifically and i'd forgotten about this one but it wasn't bad
uh himathy on instagram uh big long time listener uh thinks the steelers are going to the super bowl
as much as i i love ahimathy i don't think they are but he dm'd me that and he said i'm listening
to last year's hot take a palooza and this is several weeks before this is actually going to
run but he wanted to make sure this got in he said uh jesse so it's hot take a palooza too
jesse said this and jesse i have sent you the video clip please go to 34 i got i got it already
yep okay 3405 oh 3405 yeah did i write it wrong because i am known for that here you go
jesse blake with your bad takes i know you did tell me the right time okay that was my i i do
invert numbers so here we go here we go i was on my bird now you're just making ground steak
it's good fork and knife it i would love my burger on a plate i i often if i'm getting
if i'm getting mcdonald's i'll get a double quarter pounder with cheese and bacon
i ask them for the plate they have a little plate attachment i get it really i get it on a plate
They have this little, next time I'll take a picture and I'll bring it up on the show.
They have plates at McDonald's and they have a little carton on top and they give it to you like that.
And it's all covered and you can get your burger without a bun.
It is an option and I always take advantage of it because you know what?
McDonald's buns suck and there's no reason to be eating them.
I hate them.
They get in the way of the delicious McDonald's burger.
So I get it without the bun and it's just as good, if not better, because I get to enjoy
what I'm in it for.
Do you eat the knife and fork?
And that is the contents of the burger.
So, Tuvas, do you eat the knife and fork?
I don't disagree with anything I said there.
Jesse said, and this is what Himothy took umbrage with, that bread doesn't matter in
sandwiches or burgers.
Sure.
That's objectively false.
Also, our lighting was way worse last year.
Yeah.
Much better now.
Yeah, we've improved.
Why isn't it blue?
Every day we get better.
that's we can that's dark every day we strive to get better and every day we make improvements and
that's a little one so jesse yep uh drew brought up something and and this is something from
saturday night i was working i was drew text me he's like mustard is the best flavor of ice cream
he said he said that's a lunatic that's what drew would say um but drew actually had a correct food
take for once and his food takes are bad we should next year for hot take a palooza or at least do a
six-month one where we have justin and drew and christina and maddie and everybody else here
weighing in on some things it'd be great to get some team hot takes but drew said he's like you
know what's the weirdest effing thing i've ever heard and this is or i've ever seen i was like
what he's like remember that uh remember that meeting where i brought in egg McMuffin sandwiches
and i was like yeah and he's like and jesse just took the egg out and ate it and left everything
else oh yeah and then i ate the rest of it i'm pretty sure i wanted some egg for breakfast and
i was like oh there's egg in that so i'm just gonna eat the egg i didn't want i didn't want
a mcmuffin like i didn't want the english muffin part and all this stuff i just wanted an egg
wow some scrambled egg so i had that what's wrong with that that is like inner city rodent behavior
no to pick an ingredient out of a sandwich you most people pick something out of their sandwich
you picked one thing out to
eat. Yeah, it was breakfast time
so I wanted some eggs and somebody
gave me an option because they
make it really nicely in the circle
and they throw it on so it's like
I have eggs. You ever mess with this guy?
Adam, let's cut to the chase.
What the fuck are you worrying about your weight
for? Yeah, exactly.
It's definitely not weight.
It's health.
You know what?
He doesn't want to end up on Fat Guy Corner with us.
I don't understand
why people get
criticized for looking
after their health
I don't care for
English muffins
I like eggs
wait till Jesse
is his first kid
it's gonna happen
I don't know
I don't know
what was wrong
with any of my
takes here
yes Maddie
Maddie wants to weigh in
you know what
what I will say is
I respect a skinny
person trying to be
healthy
instead of just
eating whatever they
want and not taking
care of themselves
and they're already
still skinny
I'm like oh
screw off
so true
I'm on your team
Jesse
Thank you.
For us curvy girls, all right?
You don't need to be like that.
I try to eat healthy whenever I can.
Also, Maddie.
What's wrong with that?
Maddie's sucking up to the boss there.
Yeah.
What is wrong with trying to eat healthy when I can?
And when given the option to eat an English muffin or eggs or both,
I chose to eat eggs.
The correct answer is not to pick eggs out of the sandwich.
The correct answer is to get double the eggs on the sandwich.
Also, he didn't eat it with, I think what Weirded drew out, too,
was he didn't eat it with like a knife and fork.
He just ate it as a disc of egg.
He didn't chew it.
Like, did you put any spices on it?
Yeah, that's right.
He just kind of...
No, because they make it in disc form,
like it's a cookie.
So I ate the eggs like a cookie.
That is true.
That's not untrue.
Right now, can we outtake our tastes?
Did I just get ganged up on for trying to eat healthy?
You know what?
It's about freaking time.
It's about time
because everybody agrees
with everything that you say.
And you know what?
It's about time.
That is not true.
That is a narrative
you like to peddle
so more people agree
with your takes.
We don't peddle narratives.
It makes us tired.
Yeah.
Because we're fat.
All right.
How dare you?
I'm going to go
take my puffers now.
I'm out of breath.
All right.
You should do some more
Zone 2 cardio.
And another thing.
Jesse.
Yeah.
Jesse.
What?
So how do you want
to structure this?
Because I've got my three takes.
You've got your three takes.
Yes.
Steve has been struggling all day with his takes, but he's got them.
Yes.
He's got them.
Yes.
So are we going, are we working from the hottest take to the lowest take, lowest take to the
hottest take?
Do we go like, here's round one on Hot Take a Balooza and it's your lowest in the heat?
Okay.
Okay.
So Hot Take a Balooza, if you've never experienced one before, is a very structured event.
Each one of us will take our turn in rounds one, two, and three.
Now it is up to you where you want to separate your hot takes.
if you want to do your hottest one at the beginning
and start off with a fireball, leave the cooler ones
for later on. That's up to you. My hottest takes are going
at the end, by the way. Me too.
We know what a schedule is. In fact, I think we should
do our middest takes first
because I want to see progressively, Jesse,
and I'd hate to change it up on you right now. I think Jesse
was about to set it up.
I want to progressively beat
all of your asses at this because I think I got you.
Sure, sure, sure. Fine.
We can do it that way as well. Thank you. Jesse shouldn't be planning
the show. The freaking guy in Hales.
Yeah. Weirdo.
slurps the way it works jello hey egg puck eater continue egg cookie
egg cookies all day okay go ahead sorry it's a very structured event we do have three rounds
it'll go from least hottest to hottest as adam wilde has outlined here you get three minutes
on the clock to filibuster your hot take the other two people shut the fuck up the hot take
what are you looking at me for is talking what are you looking at me at the end of those three
minutes the peanut gallery the other two people will have the opportunity to chime in and the
person who delivered the hot take can rebuttal got it or just agree got it and then if we need
to go over time obviously we'll probably take liberties with the time but that is how hot take
a palooza works three rounds three minutes each do your hot take two minutes of rebuttal move on
the next person he said are you guys ready yep we're gonna rock paper scissors as we've been
doing all holiday break to determine who goes first three-way rock paper scissors on shoot
rock paper scissors shoot adam wins he's up first rock paper scissors shoot rock paper scissors
shoot ah steve's up second i am up third jesse's paper was so big he tried to engulf my scissors
adam wilde you've been hot to go with your hot takes please deliver hot take number i am always
h-t-h-o-t-t-o-g-o-o-g-o dumbass you can have this hot take to go let me get up the timer
are you ready uh three minutes are you ready here's the here's the new year's resolution
spell stuff right dumbass all right you ready it's contentious episode all right ready there
you go three minutes you're gonna get a lot online of people saying that you need to wake up early
to be successful that you need to wake up at 5 a.m there's a book called the 5 a.m club
and i'm here to tell you anybody that wakes up early it's already good and thinks that they're
gonna be successful just because they're up early shut up stop telling me about your run that early
stop telling me about how you knocked out all your emails before 6 a.m yeah chris johnston
yeah chris johnston cj chris johnston specifically chris you know because you know if there's anybody
that i want to call it's chris who gets on everyone's nerves you know couldn't be a more
prickly guy more like pj because that's what he should still be in at that time of day that's
right yeah it's pj not a private jet though no okay um i want you to know that if you're like
me and i used to get up early okay i used to get up really early jesse used to too for a living
And I'll tell you, getting up early, it's time to admit, sucks ass and is not good for you.
All right?
So I want you to know that there were some pretty important people who used to get up early and did quite well with it.
And the first one, first one's Winston Churchill.
And he's dead.
And he's dead.
He died.
But he lived a long time and did some good things.
did some not so good things too but did some good things during world war ii but
dead here's an extremely successful die because he woke up early no he didn't wake up early
mark zuckerberg will not get out of bed until 8 a.m oh uh alive uh jeffrey jeffrey bezos doesn't
have a meeting before 10 a.m alive alive he's still living and he's jacked and he's he's got
of no he's jeff no he's listen i'm not saying you need to be these people there are other examples
and they're perhaps better ones but all i'm saying is anybody i see this all the time from these
workout alpha loser butts who are like who are just like hey i have i have you can see every
vein in my nose uh because i've been doing so many roids but i wake up before 7 a.m and that
makes me better than you and what are you doing with your life i see this shit come up on tiktok
all the time it's a personal gripe for me you don't need that shit just get your freaking work
done okay that's all it is that's all it is it's so crazy this is so crazy so if you wake up at 5
a.m but you go to bed at 9 there's no difference with somebody who gets up at 7 and goes to bed
at 11 they have the same working hours in the day and if you're one of those a-holes that's like
will sleep less you're an asshole and you live less you actually live less like years it's a
it's a complete placebo a hundred percent a hundred percent and so for those of us who wake up late
jesus that is way too fucking loud wow wake up people uh wake up that that knocked my eardrums
together in my head that was crazy uh anyway time's up short that's what i'd say that's my
that's my mid take please fix that what do you mean oh my god that was hot oh my god you guys
steve and jesse grow up steve and jesse should we should we use this time to revisit mark
walberg's morning yes we should yes we fucking should man man you can bring it up there that
is actually his schedule too this is who adam wilde is talking about adam i 100 agree with
your take as somebody who woke up with you in the middle of the night essentially to do a radio show
for our 5 30 a.m start it was ridiculous and people like this who are volunteering to get up
that early are unhinged it's unnecessary yeah sleep in a little stay up a little later just
move your schedule it's the same shit mark walberg adam if you want to run down his daily so he wakes
up at 2 30 a.m 245 prayer 3 15 breakfast the 3 40 to 5 15 workout yes it's a really long prayer
it is a long prayer 45 minutes of prayer for half an hour prayer you guys are catholic boys how long
should you pray for i just don't believe him i don't believe him but he believes in him you
prayed for 45 minutes 30 consecutively 30 minutes whatever dear lord 245 please give me some sweet
pecs dear lord uh 340 to 515 workout 530 work post-workout media meal uh shower for six golf
at 7 30 i don't understand how the shower takes 90 minutes but golf takes 30 minutes
listen it's a little backwards like we're not even at lunch and there's already a lot of cracks in
his story we're not even at i woke up yet like i'm not up at 7 30 yeah i don't know uh 8 a.m
snack cryo chamber recovery at 9 30 so he takes an hour and a half snack hey just get in your
cryo chamber yeah 11 30 a.m snack family time meetings at 11 a.m for two hours then he has
lunch and then he has meetings and work uh work calls at two it it took until two till he started
doing work pick up picks up his own kids at school yeah sure man so he works for an hour and that's
it yeah then a snack at 3 30 and then workout number two at four and then shower at five and
then 5 30 dinner family time showers twice in a day it's not great for your skin 7 30 bedtime
which sucks so much booty uh i just want to say i just want to say if that's the life that makes
him happy that's great i i can't judge that but i do really feel like the getting up early is a
is a tad overblown in terms of how much success it yields you need that if you need your life to
be that regimented here's a suggestion just commit a bunch of crimes go to prison just go to prison
that sounds like jail that sounds like freaking jail yeah i don't know he's like golfing in his
cryo chamber yeah no go to a minimum security yeah yeah i you know what i also want to throw
this at you guys it's it's uh he has like his own documentary that's like six episodes long
and he like he wakes up and works out with like six or seven other people like he's got a whole
crew of people that wake up with community community i don't know man i just think like
uh that sounds like it sucks now and if you have the same amount of daylight hour or even not
daylight hour you have enough time to get all the shit done that you need to get done and be
successful it's not about when you wake up it's about the effort you put in thank you very much
ran over those two minutes uh post conversation steve you're up i'm starting the three minutes
i've blasted the timer so it rings in your ears here we go i'm trying to think of which one i
should do first uh okay let's do friggin um you're my favorite the toronto maple leafs
have a bunch of players going to the uh four nation face-off yanni hockenpah is one of them
i'm not talking about him william nylander is going to represent team sweden austin matthews
is going to represent uh team usa mitch marner is going to represent team canada all three of
those guys have been eliminated from the stanley cup playoffs every single year that they have
played in them and every year we hear the same thing what is it we know you don't want to hear
it but we tried our best and we weren't able to do it but you know what we got some experience
lessons were learned lessons were learned sorry i'll shut up lessons were learned
and they learned a lesson in 2017 they learned a lesson in 2018 they learned a lesson in 2019
they learned a lesson in 2020 they learned a lesson in 2021
they learned a lesson in 2022 they learned a lesson in 2023 really they learned a lesson in 2024
and i'm here to tell you fuck each and every one of those lessons they are going to learn
more in the 10 or so days that they are spending at the four nation face off than they have learned
from any of those playoff losses absolutely any of them because instead of i think part of what's
holding them back is no matter who is surrounding them in their playoff losses at the end of the day
they're surrounding each other they're in their echo chamber of trauma and this year whether they
win with canada the united states or sweden there's a chance all three of them lose that'd be
oh god um whether they win or whether they lose they are going to learn more by being surrounded
by guys who have done it than they ever have in a leafs uniform wow there you go that's a good
positive take yeah yeah yeah i like that they're gonna learn more about winning and losing
at this little tournament because that's something that they've had robbed from them
throughout the course of their career is best on best hockey the opportunity to play with these
guys the opportunity to experience something that doesn't involve the three of them
hmm so marner being with the canadian guys matthews being with the american guys neil
andrew being with the swedish guys i think is going to be a game changer can you kill eight
seconds uh yay running from the baby bumblebee well done very loud well done okay no i've
actually made it louder oh that's great yes that's terrible it sounds like the t-mobile sound
it does you know you should you should just get an alarm that's your voice going it's over
um stop i think that's a very good take i don't disagree with it at all i think the idea that
these guys have played professional hockey in the national hockey league with themselves for their
entire careers is something that often gets overlooked and here we have a single moment
where they will not be doing that and i think it's not insignificant at all you're not going to have
a room full of guys looking at you and it's not gonna necessarily be all your responsibility like
if canada's down they're gonna be looking at nate they're gonna be looking at mcdavid they're gonna
be looking at crosby but mitch is gonna want them to be looking at him and i like that oh yeah it's
gonna be competitive with this guy they ain't unless like in the round robin he has 50 points
and everyone else has three you know what i mean and you know matthews is probably going to be
their number one center but like it's eichel it's freaking you know you know do you understand
i really like the take oh yeah i don't even know it's that hot uh i tried it you know what it's
unique i have not heard a single other person say that oh yeah it's gonna be genuinely good for them
i completely agree with you i have no rebuttal all right i yield my time jesse do you we yeah
we will send our time back to uh maddie i will give the speaker maddie what would you like to
what what would you like to say about billy eilish's newest album uh it's good really love
birds of a feather excellent stuff it's a good song all right i'm up uh now i will start where
is my clock tab let's reset three minutes on the clock it is january 3rd right now when you are
listening to this if you're listening at the time of recording that means you are about two and a
half days removed from the worst day of the year and that is new year's eve it is a tremendous
waste of time and the worst going out celebrating slash holiday slash friends get together and drink
night that has ever existed that is on the calendar it is amateur hour every single minute
of that 60 minute hour is made for amateurs it's when people go out and they just get way too drunk
for no reason and it's not like saint patrick's day where you're just drinking you're having fun
it's drinking where there's also an expectation of this celebration and everything's supposed to
be awesome and we're supposed to have this big party and everything's great it never lives up
to the expectations that it's set for for new year's and i think if your big night of the year
is new year's night amateur going out person amateur drinking person amateur having fun
parties person i've never had a new year's where i'm like you know what that was the best night of
the year that's that that's really the peak i feel like the expectation on the holiday is that it is
that and it's always a letdown with the with the show that's on whenever they show the anderson
cooper cnn night and oh we don't need to keep doing that no no no who's the kathy griffin
they already removed her from the broadcast don't need any more of that stuff the artists are always
pre-taped they're doing their record sometimes though they'll be live and stuff like that but
a lot of times you're getting like a pre-taped recording of this this big artist who's really
at home at their actually fun party whenever you go out everything is jacked up to the gills and
prices oh yeah all the people in time square wearing diapers oh don't even get me started
on the people have to wait eight hours to just yeah ring in the new year to see a ball drop
there was one year where i had to pay i think it was like 40 it was 35 or 40 to get into a bar to
celebrate new year's that night plus that's just to get in price and then you gotta buy all your
drinks and everything that night every year for new year's is a disappointed disappointment i
think it's overrated with the prices i think it's overrated with the idea of what you're gonna do
that night and the celebratory factor my least favorite holiday of the year i'm running out of
time here with 20 seconds my hot take this hot take beluza new year's overrated don't need it
don't like it okay i have 12 seconds left i left it for you guys damn jesse i hadn't thought of it
that way but you're right i'm gonna wait uh i'm waiting for the ding all right now there it is
let me say this jesse is correct in many facets except one okay he's right about the expectations
being too high he's right about the cost being too high i remember uh one year i actually stupidly
stupidly i'm sorry i hate to say it i paid 50 bucks cover to get it oh that's more than me
i know and this is a while ago and that's idiotic that's so stupid but i was dating somebody and
they wanted to go and i was like fine and uh so you got to go out it's cold it's shitty especially
in toronto yep you got to dress nicely right you can't even just put a t-shirt and jeans on it's
it's a fancy event yeah some reason and here's the one that kills me at this point and it did
even back in the day because i'm a sleeper uh having to stay out past midnight if you leave
early your friends look at you like you're the devil and parties don't start till 10 30 11 yeah
and those days even like now they're very done but like back then even i couldn't do it very often
Have you ever done what my wife and her little friend group have done for their kids?
Fake New Year at like 6 o'clock.
Yeah, and you bang some pots and pans together.
And you go, woo!
Throw a bunch of balloons, streamers, do whatever you want.
Go lose your mind at 6 o'clock.
I think it's great.
I agree.
You don't need to wait till the end.
Now, where he's wrong is New Year's can be awesome.
and i will say just from personal experience that the best new years i've ever had have come in the
last four years and that is because i am at my i'm at my wife's cottage uh we are playing like
cards we're having like an edible and everybody goes to bed whenever the hell they want yeah
last year i made it to midnight year before i didn't yeah i think i think that's what i'm
talking about with the the expectation of what everybody thinks new year's has to be yep you
know you didn't do the typical new year's thing you did something very nice and wholesome and
normal yes and and that's the thing i think you are absolutely right but i think open yourself
up to one day jesse when you have children if you decide to um and the family the family yeah the
family party the family new year's is actually way better than the single new year's or the
dating new year's way better so that's that's the only rebuttal i would have steve uh i do not miss
uh every january 1st hearing my heartbeat in my head what does that mean having a just a wicked
hangover maddie laughed maddie laughed the one person in their 20s maddie maddie knows
you uh you feel your heartbeat in your head yep yeah it's not good no it doesn't feel bad
no like it okay i think a good um here one one sec but a house party on new year's is fun
yeah that's pretty good like that that's
like still like hyping up the event and
like getting dressed up with all your
best friends for it just to dress up and
have fun the one thing I miss about my
youth is house parties house parties are
sort of kind of done really yeah there
well it used to be like it I used to
party a lot like it used to be like
every you used to you used to throw the
New Year's parties yeah my parents had a
year's party one year with a bunch of
hockey parents. You notice that? One year?
Yeah, true. Because when you get to a
certain age, you're like, I don't want this anymore.
See, you're a youth.
I went to a Y2K party
when I was
12 and
friggin'
their big prank
was they shut all the lights off
at midnight.
Y2K.
Y2K.
That's actually kind of funny.
Yeah, they like turn the breaker off.
Sometimes life throws your curveballs and you don't have time to get to them.
And that's where TaskRabbit comes in.
And I think you should check this out because here's the deal.
One of the things, one of the weird quirks about my condo building is that they use my floor to rappel down and clean all the windows.
But they never clean my windows.
Uh-oh.
And their way around on that is like, well, it's a patio window.
You can do that yourself.
And I'm like, well, hang on a second.
What if I don't want to?
I don't have the stuff.
because you've got to have that scraper thing
and the washer thing.
The chemicals.
You've got to have the right chemicals.
See, that's what I'm saying.
That's why I used TaskRabbit

I believe Adam Wilde is up next.
Okay, are you guys ready?
Three minutes.
Start it now.
Sidney Crosby will play at least one game for another NHL in his career.
if he plays beyond this season well he signed a contract extension doesn't matter if he retires
at the end of this season oh yeah then then you can't hold me okay yeah let's assume he plays
next season assuming he plays next season let's cover that sydney crosby is going to play at least
one game for one other nhl team wow and that's okay no it's not i think it's okay because pens
fans are realizing what we all know which is this team is bad and do you really need crosby to play
every game in his career for the team if they're going to look like this right sydney crosby the
greatest potential legacy beyond the cups that he can leave the penguins one of the greatest
is the haul that he gets when he's inevitably traded he can jump start the penguins rebuild
by half a decade all the all the retool all and and this goes for malkin and letang too but more
malkin than letang if crosby is traded if malkin is traded all the stuff that buffalo's going
through all the stuff the ducks are going through all the stuff the sharks are going through you can
avoid all that you can just jump right in you just jump right into the hey we might be good in the
next two years thing you might have a bad year where you get the first overall pick or the second
overall pick but the idea that you hang on to crosby out of pure pennsylvania stubbornness
is not ideal you don't want to do this you don't want to do ryan getzlaff cory perry to the ducks
where they hung on forever and there was nobody to take up the next thing it's not going to be
rucker mcgordy kids he might go he might be good but he's not crosby and all i am saying is that
if you were to go to Colorado
and go and win a cup with Nate,
you're going to be happy for him.
You'd be thrilled for him.
And you won't resent the fact
that he finished his career elsewhere.
Oilers fans had to deal with it
with Gretzky and Messier, right?
Lemieux did stay with Pittsburgh his whole life.
However, he was an owner
and a player at the same time,
and that was weird.
Probably couldn't happen today.
Definitely different.
And Yarmir Yager left, played for a bunch of other teams.
I'm just trying to think.
Gordie Howe played for the Hartford Whalers, played with his sons.
Do Detroit fans hate him for that?
All the greatest players, even Bobby Orr, did not stay with the Bruins.
He played a few games before his knees gave out with the Chicago Blackhawks.
And if Bobby Orr had played a normal career, he would have played until like 1990.
Holy shit.
Right?
because he started in the late 60s early 70s right so he he would have had he had a normal one
so i'm just saying pittsburgh fans let it happen he deserves it t-mobile calling you uh
i disagree i wholeheartedly disagree i think sydney crosby played this is gonna be this i
know this is gonna be the one that we replay in like a year or two because it's gonna go either
away it's gonna be fun i truly believe sydney crosby wants to retire a penguin no matter what
and i i know we've seen it i made the argument on the other side a million times over the last
couple years and that athletes across pro sports do this every time it's it's the brett farve
playing for the vikings and the jets it's aaron rogers going to the jets it's it is two football
examples there it's whatever he came to the one being on the raptors everyone thinks they're tom
brady and the bucks exactly everybody wants and nobody no athlete thinks it's over until it's
very over and they always have that last little gasp where they're reaching out straws and they
go to that other team and they try and do it and it fails it's matt sundin on the canucks
i truly believe crosby is the outlier in that he's gonna retire a penguin because that's all
he wants to do in hockey but that's my that's my view on how crosby feels it i i think the time
for this has passed i was fully on board with it and then he signed the extension anyway and i'm
like you made your bed lying it they might make the playoffs probably not he's made his bed he's
gonna be a penguin forever okay we'll see i yield my time one of us will be right or wrong which is
fun all right who's up next steven down the list again trying to decide the order i'll i'll i'll
pick this one i was gonna do this one last uh how old are you watching this right now you're
maybe graduating high school you are maybe graduating university you are maybe 30 or even
worse 29 oh you might be 40 and i am here to tell you none of you are old and you should stop
saying it it's gone too far man what it's gone too far every freaking buddy says i'm so old
i see people on tiktok 10 years my junior who are like i'm old and it's because a video game
that they played when they were a tiny child has reached a certain anniversary you're not old
a person who is, let's say you're 29, right? Oh, I'm getting so old. Let's say you live
until you're 80. You're going to be old for the vast majority of your life.
The vast majority of your life, you're going to be walking around talking about a woe is me.
i can't do anything fun you know what you're right i can't do any of the things that i used
to be able to do shut up who has ever said i'm so old and then gotten a back pat for being freaking
cool for saying it shut up no one's gonna give you any sympathy and you just sound whiny and lame
it doesn't matter that you're graduating high school you're definitely not old
you're graduating university shut your freaking mouth you're 29 just go to freaking jail
or even 39 dude what are you talking about 40 is definitely no no if you live less than life
expectancy in Canada, you're still less than halfway there at 40 years old. Stop it. Stop it.
People find things to do with their life. Okay. No one wants to hear that you're too old. You're
not old. You're 40 or 36 or 30 or 29, but you're not old. No one gives a damn. You know what you
are perhaps not young you know what you are if you're graduating high school not in high school
anymore you're not old you know what you are if you're graduating university no longer a student
you're some random taxpayer but old shut up boo boring this it's it is the whiny equivalent of
i did a thing find something interesting to say no one gives a damn
steve yes at what age is old then old i'm gonna go with the okay what is life expectancy in canada
that's what i already did okay that's exactly what i was thinking about when you were talking
it's somewhere between 78 and 82 81 years old 81 that's amazing so if you're amazing if you're 40
your life's half over or you got half of your life left at that point are you old if you only
got half left only only yeah or if you want to look at it positive i'm gonna say sorry for the
people who 60 and actually no i'm not sorry i'm i'm not sorry for accurately describing you
60 plus old retired or considering retirement old i am just starting i will disagree with you
on one thing what i will not say old even at considering retirement i would say you're you're
older but old is like final 10 years yeah yeah so here's how i look at life right like the first
you know when people look at 40 it's like oh man i've only got 40 years left yeah but those 40
years a good chunk of them you're gonna be like lucid and in control maybe the last three to five
could be bad you don't know right who knows but that's 35 years when you gain your independence
you're about 18 to 20 on the other side so you actually arguably live more life in control vital
and you've got money because your kids who are bank account drainers are out of the house
i'm telling you the better side is the plus 40 side since i've known adam i think he's been
living towards 60 well they say i think i don't think i don't think his life every year adam gets
better yeah i don't think he's gonna peak until he's like 62 jesse has said that about me for
years adam is settling into what he's always been meant to be an old man i was a little old man in
school too but here's the thing that here's what these years are just wasted on they do a they do
no no like as in like older spirit yeah and then you wore leather pants and got on stage and sang
songs that's true too what they say about uh happiness in life is there is a don't go after
There's a peak of happiness early in your 20s.
And then there's a peak of happiness in your late 50s and on.
And in between that, there is a down curve through your 30s and then an up curve once
you're 40.
All right.
And the reason for that.
Let's throw that in the garbage.
No, but the reason for that is that you have kids, you have mortgage, you're trying to
make your way up at work.
There's a lot of stress.
Your parents are getting older.
Like there are things that you need to deal with in your life that life goes from being
frivolous and fun to very real and and like you know dating in my 20s was a lot different when
than when i started dating natalie for instance right and so with that i think to back up your
point okay because you're crapping on mine i don't know what's a rebuttal with you your point
i mean you can agree with you i am agreeing with you and i am saying i don't know uh you're not
old until you're actually physically
decrepit.
Oh, man.
But my back.
You tell me I'm not old, but I
sneeze and I throw up my back. No.
You're a 34-year-old with a
sore back. You're allowed...
Young people are allowed to be in pain, too.
You also can do some stretching.
You can also do some stretching. Some physio.
And for the kids thing, I'm going to do
a hot take for people who are chronically
on TikTok, which is different than
chronically online. Chronically online is
chronically online chronically on tiktok is currently living in that universe here's a hot
take i like my kids yeah yeah they make my life better are they stressful sure i like the leafs
they make my life stressful yeah i am far less disappointed in my children than in the toronto
maple yeah i think it's weird that um i do think it's weird that uh people are so hard and listen
And I understand for the people that didn't want to have kids.
They're like, but they're like militant about it.
Good, don't do it.
Yeah, that's fine.
Like, I don't mind.
Like, whatever.
That's cool.
But like, don't be judgy.
And I get people who with kids are judgy about people that don't.
Don't do that either.
Let people live.
I've come to despise the older generations of people who still make, I hate my kids.
I hate my wife.
I hate my family kinds of jokes.
Oh, I hate that.
I just don't think it's funny.
like there's no humor in it in that for me like at any point you know i just and people are still
like there's genres of tiktoks who make content around that stuff if you're belittling my wife
kind of stuff it's so gross if you're belittling your partner in front of friends or in public
whether they're there or not that's to me an absolute no-go zone yeah we'll not fall in chain
oh yeah that's shit it's so stupid we'll not do that don't want to be in a relationship like that
no thank you i had a girlfriend that did that once because her family she'd grown up with that
and i pulled her side and i was like listen like that really hurt my feelings like i i uh and she's
like she's like well my mom and dad used to do that all the time and i said is that the relationship
that you want yeah like and she was like well no that's a good point i'm like yeah so i find people
who make jokes like that extend that to their kids about what you're talking about and like
tiktok too and they're like ah hate my fucking kids you know they're so annoying they're annoying
me all the time they smell and they're sticky yeah they are no fucking love your child they're
gonna watch this one day and you're like you're a giant asshole yes so yeah i never get that kind
of stuff jesse uh yeah i'm up let me uh start the timer if i can find the timer tab there we go
uh i don't know if you guys are gonna agree with me on this one i think you're gonna disagree and
that's what makes it a great hot take but i think this thing has jumped the shark and
the nhl just waited in the waters of this they they dipped their toe and they're going full
bore now in this direction and i'm just over it i don't need it anymore i've seen enough i'm out
the damn athlete we're covering the pro sport mini series shit i'm over it really i'm over it
i watched netflix netflix can't churn out enough of these the latest one they did is one called
starting five where they they do it with the nba they're like hey here's our drive to survive for
the nba everybody we're following lebron following jimmy butler following jason tatum uh demonta
sabonis nobody knows anything about him i watched this first episode and i could not have been more
board and i realized i'm done with these series because there's so many of them and they're all
the same shit now i watched jimmy butler make a coffee in his kitchen and his son ran over and
he was like oh jimmy butler there with his family i watched jason tatum with his kid i was like oh
jason james a cool family man there's lebron and brawny oh this is all good didn't care didn't
didn't care to follow up on these stories i know enough about these athletes now and they're so
good with this they don't give you shit yeah and the thing about netflix and now we have the the
one for the nhl which is like i really enjoyed like the william nylander episode i got to see
a bunch of stuff it didn't permeate the culture are we like oh my god you know what they did for
the nhl no amazon changed the nhl no it did nhl is bigger than baseball now no that didn't happen
like drive to survive and how that actually changed f1 because that was the og of these
series is and that came first and people cared about it then now we're getting stuff that just
serves the audience that already cares about it that's who watched the hockey stuff that's the
one sought it out on amazon private hockey fans who wanted more from their hockey players that
they already care about i loved watching hughes and do all that stuff it was cool but that didn't
help grow the game nobody outside of hockey cared about that stuff and nobody who doesn't really
care about jimmy butler and his family and his coffee doesn't care about that series there's now
one for sprinters there's a nascar one there's a tennis one that got canceled because no one gave
a shit about it it was called break point and then it was actually i actually didn't mind that
you were the only one adam well done i didn't mind it it was all right i changed my mind adam
should say he's old the f1 they've just sucked the drama out of that because they know what
they can edit out and what they can leave in there's zero drama with the f1 series now so
the og1's not even good i'm sick of these series i think they've entirely jumped the shark
and if they go away forever i won't miss it i can watch something else i'll watch
the sopranos again my eye twitch is never gonna go away there you go uh okay so let's let's talk
about this because i i gotta say this the reason the drive to survive worked until the lewis versus
max season where the fia screwed up the championship so badly that if you ask most
current f1 drivers they're like lewis is the champion that year still because the now steve
i won't get into the the details i feel like you told me about it but it was a michael massey was
a somewhat like he was like a sophomore race caller he made the wrong call and the fia kind
of like fifa sometimes just does not own their shit uh and wanted a new champion and that's what
we ended up with now max has been a champion outright ever since but he did not deserve that
championship so um what made drive to survive special was the showing of the failures what made
the leafs documentary on amazon blunted and not as successful as it should have been
is shanahan got in there and cut about reports are about 70 of it some of the stuff we heard
that was actually in that like we can't we can't even say it we can't even say it it's because we
would be in trouble it's cone of silence stuff we'd be breaking trust but i will tell you this
they honestly it's wild they could have created the the the anti last dance yes they could have
like the last dance is all about success they could have blowing a 3-1 series lead to montreal
they could have made the greatest documentary of sports failure in sports history yeah and that
and they wouldn't do it at a time when everybody was still watching that stuff yes at a time when
we're still uh not mid pandemic but uh at the tail end mid of it you know in 2021 when we were
all watching that stuff yes they would have blown the leafs to smithereens had they made
the documentary the way it should have you were making a point well to my my point is that now
this is just propaganda this is just a sizzle reel yeah this is like you know your buddies in
school that were skateboarders or snowboarders and they're like hey watch uh well come watch
this highlight reel it's basically like your skate videos um there is not you're not going
to show lebron in a bad light you might show lebron losing a game but you're not going to
show lebron being an asshole starting five was that's a great word for it was literally propaganda
for these nba players in the league and and it reminds me of when all the artists the music
artists were coming out with documentaries yep and you had one direction you had justin bieber
you had katie perry you had taylor swift you have a whole bunch of other you watch these i think
billy eilish had one with her brother too i if i yeah the apple tv one yeah i watched and people
stopped watching them because when you watch drama you need to have something at stake there
needs to be something on the line when we come on this show and steve's at his most entertaining and
he has it taken it gets fired up the reason it's interesting is because you go well we'll see if
that comes true and if it doesn't you know i know the guys are going to give it to him but if it
does then he was right uh there's no drama in these anymore no these athletes are so afraid of
their brands being real and that would actually make a real impact that you you know but you've
got 45 fucking people around these guys they're like all many corporations all of them that they
don't want to show that they're human beings no they're and that's not relatable anymore
they're outlets to propel the brand they want out there you know it's very manicured they all have
executive producer credits on this whole thing starting five i keep going back to that because
i was so disappointed with the way it was it's produced by maverick carter who is lebron james's
all-time best friend how can we expect to see anything out of it when he your best friend has
the executive producer credit yeah i was so hopeful when lebron created his um his uh production
company undisputed yeah because i was like hey man this this could actually be really great nope and
all it is is just him gassing up his friends it's not entertaining it's not insightful it's not
educational you don't learn a single thing about these guys that you didn't know before it's that
you know what you want you want lebron here's an idea why don't you bring on kevin durant and ask
him why he's such a piss baby okay you know like there's a there's a good question kevin you've got
kevin you openly admit to having five twitter accounts if you guys are such good friends
like steve and jesse and i are good friends have you talked to anyone about that if i had five
burner accounts you guys would light me up for it and be like how are those burner i'd be like
got him what's wrong right because that's a that's what a good show does because you have
good friends i i would so i i know we're taking way too long on this but i'm fascinated it's
probably a good that's a hot take i'm fascinated by your take because i it was almost like a cousin
of mine but i i didn't i didn't end up doing this so i often criticize the nhl and use the nba
as a standard that the nhl fails to meet uh i don't think i'm gonna do that anymore
because of some of the reasons that you just laid out like i can't think of an athlete i need to
know less about than lebron james no athlete in human history including michael jordan has ever
been documented as well as lebron james i don't need to hear it i don't care i don't give a shit
um and all those guys are just going to give you what not what you want to hear it's what they
want to hear the hot take i was going to say is the nba needs to start acting like it likes
basketball because everyone in the like media and the players especially the players because
the league has been so successful they no longer act like a league who needs to be successful
they like they lost the edge dude like the the number one meme around nicole yokich is that he
hates his job he's got an office job kevin durant i i'm not sure has ever smiled um i don't think
he likes human interaction uh like he genuinely just seems like a just a not nice person i'm i'm
sure he's cool to his circle but like it feels like every sentence he says in front of a camera
or microphone should be end with me fuck you he's like nba's aaron rogers sometimes just so
unpleasant although that's extreme no no arrogant arrogant well just mad all the time sure like
and rogers by the way in like a week and a half has his netflix documentary coming out oh no it's
out now oh is it out already yeah oh i thought i was out next week oh is it next week okay i did
i watched a review and everybody said i hey the guy was like i watched this so you don't have to
and believe me you don't like mb just seems so miserable like yeah just no one in the nba seems
to be having a good time you play basketball man it seems like a really fun job it comes out today
the day we're recording there you go there you go so yeah yeah they're roger stuff and listen i'm
not saying it's like it's hell in a handbasket or whatever it's just at least hockey players
like the sport they play i like i consume basketball stuff but like not nearly as much
as hockey and every now and then i'm like does anyone like it here yeah there's a problem with
the nba in that a lot of times the individual players are bigger than the league as a whole
or the teams as itself like the nfl has the anti-problem where uh the the best problem in
the world where the teams are what people care about yeah the nhl it's such a team sport and
people care about the actual sport itself and then as long as as well as the superstars and the nba
has a problem with superstars and them being a little bit too much bigger than the game and
yeah so the balance is off you need the balance is off the nhl went too hard on the team's angle
you need to have stars and you need to have teams yeah and with the injection of young talent that
the nhl has seen the last couple years they have a really good balance of teams and young stars and
the nba swung way too much in the pendulum of you're just talking about those guys and you've
no idea what those teams are doing yes you have no idea what the records are how those teams are
playing and that's i agree with that completely i love that i love anyway i see the documentaries
they need to stop they need to stop yeah yeah okay are you ready for my hottest take yeah full
swing also last season not great they spent two episodes they spent two episodes on the fucking
president's cup it wasn't good i didn't i'll watch the tournament yeah it's a four-day tournament
you spent half of it on two up anyways the first season was good i didn't like the second season
okay you're ready this is my big one uh let me just start the clock here i need to bring it back
up oh there it is all right clock started you guys ready i'm jacking up the volume ladies and
gentlemen my hot take is elon musk buying twitter was actually really good for you and for all of us
i'm gonna kick you in the dick
is that it you have you have 40 seconds buying twitter was actually good and i'll tell you why
continue we got to a point as a society because of our news media fixation this is sports and news
on that website which at its height and this is no longer true but at its height had about five
percent of people who were using social media on it of the entire ecosystem of that marketplace
snapchat facebook whatever youtube whatever you want to call social media twitter had five percent
of that five percent one percent of them were considered regular users meaning that one percent
of the five percent of the original hundred percent were actually tweeting everybody else
used it for newsfeed stuff and we took that website and we put it on a pedestal and we made
it akin to real life and there was a lot of bad fallout from that and the destruction of that
website unintended has actually turned out to be okay because i think it was fully intended but go
on because i believe that people need to realize that twitter's not fucking real life it's not
and we deal with that in the hockey twitter community where people think like i used to
bring up stuff that would happen on twitter years ago to my my now wife who doesn't have any social
media and she'd be like i have never heard of this i don't understand why this is important
and real people who lived outside of that were like yeah i this is not a thing but on twitter
there were a lot of good things there are a lot more bad things and i think that site falling
apart and people fractioning off and going in different blue sky and rumble or wherever you
want to go whatever your political persuasion is that going away is a good thing in the long run
that site had too much grasp over the popular culture it had too much it was there was too
many mistakes made you know people don't like elon but the previous guy used to verify white
supremacists right so i i didn't like him either i think for the good of the world it's good for
that website to go away and for five others to spring up and get its place doing the exact same
thing that twitter used to do and then you can just so nobody is together in that space like
that anymore we cannot have social media sites that have that much influence for that little
market share it's a bad site it turned out bad i'm so glad it's almost over i'm so glad that's
my opinion uh i don't know what to say because my last hot take was also about twitter shit and not
dissimilar to what you're saying give us yours that mine was more of a sports slant give um
give it to what's yours is yours about twitter yes go ahead you go ahead you go okay okay so this
let's not do the timer because
no no that's a part of the
rules of the game stop it jesse
i because i feel like we're
gonna blend into each other well blend
no it's your turn yeah
no rebuttal all right well i'm not using three
goddamn minutes then so
the my rebuttal there
is um
fuck what were we just saying i was just
saying that elon buying it and it going
to shit is actually a good thing in the long run
yeah there was that and then you ended with something
i think it's important that a site like that gets fractured off into several other sites
that are if you really desperately need to communicate in that way uh have it not be one
website that is such a small amount of people controlling the entire cultural zeitgeist yeah
fuck i can't remember what it was the i bet it was good the point i was the best thing you're
ever gonna say the the point i was gonna make and this isn't my rebuttal it's just adding on to what
do it um it's your ad bottle wait what are you typing what no no no don't no don't no what
don't don't don't stop don't hit send don't hit fucking he hit send and you know it's a he
oh jesus all right my hot take was gonna be don't fucking tweet it
oh jesus dude why'd you tweet it you don't feel better now that you tweeted it
no one thinks you're smarter because you tweeted it no one that matters anyway no one in your life
gives a shit that you tweeted it and now everyone's mad that you tweeted it it might be because
they're wrong that you said a right thing but it's probably not that
i don't think it was a hot take i think it was just flatly
a shitty thing to say and you maybe should have put a little more thought into it and sometimes
you don't need to barf it into the freaking internet um from your thumbs before talking
your friends talk to your friends about it first run the tweet by your friends and sleep on it and
you'll probably cool down in the process of talking to your friends yeah and sleeping on it
and heaven forbid you tweet it from bed because that's throwing a grenade from somewhere you can't
easily escape from that's not where you throw a grenade from um so my hot take was going to be
99.9% of the time
that tweet that you think is going to be
friggin fire or IG
post or whatever
is actually something you just shouldn't say
so don't
Jesse you got 30 seconds
on the clock what would you like to use
what would you like to use
30 seconds on
do you got a hot Mitch Marner take
hot take
you don't need
to have played hockey
to be a two-time national bestseller in hockey i sold more books than dudes who won the cup
fuck you to anyone who said i couldn't do it oh wow i love it good for you yeah all right there
it is all right your name's on the cup my name's on the bestsellers list that's my cup all right
last one to close it off yeah i had a i had a twitter one as well but yeah like i said it was
more of a sports slant and it's that twitter ruined watching sports for the general population
and it's that when we get these small clips on twitter it's giving people the idea that they
know what happened and it's allowing people to not watch these games i don't i think it's
been decent for like reporting it's been great that's where insiders break all their news now
it's been good for spreading articles you know i find like not anymore they now don't anymore now
i found like over the years i found when like the athletic would tweet something out i'd like find
like oh there's something good instead of just going to the website sometimes but in terms of
just watching sports itself twitter got too much of an influence over the hive mind of the sports
population and depending on whatever game you're in on or whatever big game it is that night
If somebody tweets out some small 15-second clip and it goes viral on that network, that's kind of what people thought about that play or that instance or that opinion of their game.
And I feel like there's too much hive mentality when it comes to people sharing things on Twitter when it comes to sporting events.
And it got people away from like, hey, I think because I scrolled and I saw, oh, this went viral from this game, then that's the narrative that came out of that.
And that's often not the case.
It's what existed on Twitter in that vacuum is the opinion of the people on Twitter who spread it in that moment, not the people who actually watch that sporting event in real life or watch the entire game.
And yeah, yeah, for me, it ruined a lot of the conversations because people just like say regurgitate the viral thing that happened on Twitter instead of watching the game themselves, having an opinion on on what occurred in that game or reading the reporters who were at the game and cover the team and analyze and have inside information on what's actually going on.
they regurgitate the viral thing that happened on twitter and for me it losing its power over
the sports watching fan and the sports media landscape is a fantastic thing because it's
going to bring people away from that and it's going to bring people back to the blogging days
where you have to read and watch and research and and know what actually occurred instead of just
finding out the quick bites and the bits that happened through social media and then just
having that opinion be yours once you see that so i think uh sports ruined or twitter ruined
sports watching was my final and third hot take there with four three two one on the clock wow
that was it i get it i get it and you make valid points but the less i consume that site
the more i realize it's not real life and most people like it's not ruined for most people
if that makes sense i think it's ruined for the people who do it that way but i i think the large
majority of sports media is on twitter yeah yeah i don't know you can't have you can't have sports
media without it like the only two people that i know from hockey that are not on it are like
pierre uh pierre what's his name uh the guy who's mcguire mcguire and like sam constantino like
those are the only people that i can think of that don't have it two guys who love junior hockey that
there you go or at least naming at least naming teams in junior hockey um so i i look at this
and and i agree uh and i think that one thing that you don't have to have on everything is a take
you don't have to have a take on everything yeah it's okay yeah it's okay it's all right
some things you'll have a take on other times you're like i don't need to have a take on that
um great piece of career advice gino retta used to hate i don't know he used to hate it
um he and i was like but i don't know and he's like no you say i don't know let me go find out
you know and i think that's an acceptable answer you don't need to have a take on everything
yeah you know what i'll look this up you know what's even better uh not looking it up you don't
have to care about everything either you don't have to look it up there's no reason for you to
have an opinion on everything and you're going back to like the nba stuff and it's like okay
did you you haven't you have this opinion blank person they have this opinion on on basketball
and like oh and bead had this game or jimmy butler did this thing it's like okay did you have you how
many games have you watched to the miami heat this season it's like you have this really strong
opinion on jimmy butler and his play this season because you saw like 10 tweets over the last
couple weeks yeah i have no i have no idea like there's so many people out there that are
pretending or not even pretending they just think they know when they haven't consumed and they
don't actually have the knowledge yeah and as somebody who doesn't have like insider information
for teams and sports like i have to watch and read to know about these sports from the people
that do i have to read the articles from the reporters i have to watch these actual games
or i don't know and when you when you actually see something and then you see somebody who just
regurgitated a tweet that went out you can see through those people who are just like oh i have
an opinion because i saw a couple tweets so i think this website going away is going to be the
best for sports media there you go steve was texting that whole time yeah well listen no it's
