Starting point is 00:00:00 Sometimes life throws your curveballs and you don't have time to get to them and that's where TaskRabbit comes in and I think you should check this out because here's the deal. One of the things, one of the weird quirks about my condo building is that they use my floor to repel down and clean all the windows but they never clean my windows. And their way around on that is like, well, it's a patio window, you can do that yourself. And I'm like, well, hang on a second. What if I don't want to? I don't have the stuff because you got to have that scraper thing and the washer thing.
Starting point is 00:00:28 The chemicals, you got to have the right chemicals. see what i'm saying that's why i used task rabbit and i employed a tasker here's the thing task rabbit connects you with taskers in your area for furniture assembly home repairs lawn maintenance mounting window cleaning all that stuff here's the deal 3.4 million pieces of furniture have been assembled 700 000 home repairs 1.5 million moves and counting go ahead and get ahead of your to-do list 15 off your first task at taskrabbit.ca or on the task rabbit app using the promo code dangle taskers across canada book up fast especially for same day tasks get 15 off your first task right now with the promo code dangle at taskrabbit.ca or the task rabbit app you should
Starting point is 00:01:10 download that taskrabbit.ca code dangle listen i i got to work today and i had toasty buns the whole way oh yeah toasty buns toasty buns toasty buns because my ford f-150 has seat heaters and they're really strong and i also i'll never go have a steering wheel heater do you have one of those you ever had one of those in your life you see now here's the thing that's just one small thing and probably not the biggest selling feature of having a were you sad when the snow melted because now you can't just drive all over it i was i was a little upset you know sometimes i go looking for it in the back alleyways that they never plow chase the powder yeah now you just need it to drop over fresh pow that's adamant f-150 just needed some pow to mow down get to
Starting point is 00:01:53 work real fast now listen i have a lariat but there's the f-150 tremor and it's purpose built to navigate any environment it might even drive up the side of your house wow yeah i actually i can't make any i can't say that i can't maybe oh yeah but i can't say this forest trails deep sand whatever it is you're looking for off-roading or you know driving on the dvp which is steve's favorite i was about to say like how about the street it does well on the street off-roading but what about on road yeah there's a lot of you there we have those and we have a lot of roads that are they're not looking much like roads anymore no ford f-150 is great for that it's great for a family it's great for work it's great for fun check out ford f-150 builders out right
Starting point is 00:02:34 now at ford.ca slash f-150 the steve dangle podcast with your host steve dangle adam wild and jesse blake Let's go! I love this game. Don't you love tweets? No. Don't you love tweets? No.
Starting point is 00:02:57 I love tweets. Don't make me. LA Kings. LA team beats Toronto in extra time in Toronto. You know who hated that? Most of the Kings roster. Yeah, they were all. Yeah, a bunch of Blue Jays fans play for the Kings.
Starting point is 00:03:16 Yeah, that's okay. um drew dowdy might be the biggest blue jays fan in the league listen i'm gonna tell you something the leafs are not getting enough credit yeah they're not getting enough credit there's a stat that they have that is outstanding they doubled up the kings last night they doubled them right you're ready for this stat yeah face off wins oh my god 37 to 16 toronto maple leafs this is why you need to look at them and go this is a team poised to break out because if you always have the puck i mean you can't have the puck if you don't start with the puck right i already do i think this is no puck having for gavin and you know what's what's hilarious is
Starting point is 00:03:59 diametrically opposed to the face-offs one stat remember i said 37 to 16 good word uh the shots were 37 to 15 in la's favor yo i gotta shout out the in-game entertainment at the leafs game because they kept it when the puck is being dropped and then the referee does a fake drop thing and then he kicks somebody out and he brings somebody else in and they fake drops again they start playing drop it like it's hot by snoop dogg that's cool it's really funny and it makes me laugh every time i'm gonna i'm gonna actually i'm gonna record a song called drop it you motherfucker and they can play that how's that what do you think about that or that they can do that or they can just play a little no no i want
Starting point is 00:04:42 steve's son to hear that and it's just this is by adam wilde drop it you motherfucker we're gonna go to a game in december he's gonna be like daddy what's a no it's a miracle he doesn't already know that word no like too like there's like a there's a cop element to that especially with my mustache being the way that it is right like you kind of really you really kind of ooh yeah better not screw with me yeah and in your badge there's definitely um like you look like a down on his luck you look like colin farrell in some sort of i can't remember the name of the movie that he's disguised himself in where he just looks like a lunatic yeah most movies he does he looks like a lunatic but he seems like a really nice guy uh i agree with the first part oh you don't think
Starting point is 00:05:26 he looks like i think he's a nice guy i don't think he seems like that no okay all right no he seems insane okay well well listen uh we are we're at the point of the year where it's sort of sinking in that these might be just bad a bad combination of players and uh the Leafs got I it's so funny to say in a 4-3 overtime loss that the Leafs got dummied no but Drew Dowdy said it perfectly last game he's like or last night after the game he was like that was not a 4-3 game that should have been like a 7-3 he's correct he's what's so concerning is there is actually room for this to get worse the leafs i believe lead the league in goals shot percentage yeah shooting percent they've been efficient uh which is horrifying that's horrifying oh my god
Starting point is 00:06:16 mm-hmm the leafs lead the league in that category i i think you know and tavaris is having the season he's having nice is having the season he's having neil andrews having the season he's having you could even go down to like robertson's having a pretty good year mcmahon's having a pretty good year oel's having a pretty good year like if you were to tell me all these things ahead of time i'd be like oh they're like in first like they're going for the president's trophy and it's one of the most unwatchable products they've ever put on the ice in the 19 seasons i've been doing lfr yeah the things you're saying about like those guys having good years it's all those guys are having good years offensively yes it's a yes such a good nobody can do anything at the other end of the ice
Starting point is 00:07:02 or in the neutral zone at all they don't have the puck that's where the problems lie like nobody can uh transition the puck into the offensive zone they're kind of scoring off of chances that they get the few and far between ones but like to pause on that drew dowdy thing uh that quote that quote was given to sean mckenzie uh post game right so it wasn't in the scrums after when you go locker room i'm always in the the least locker room so i never go to the away dressing room but that one wasn't even given in the dressing room oh so you didn't see this it was given to sean mckenzie well i saw it afterwards well yeah sorry i mean live yeah so not live but sean's there talking drought he gives this quote my problem with that is why does sports net run their broadcast
Starting point is 00:07:41 like it's a neutral national broadcast it's miserable it's it's not a home broadcast for Leafs fans even though it's only being broadcast to Leafs I don't know this this isn't a game that is being broadcast also to Los Angeles Kings fans it's not also being broadcast to all of North America it's not a game on ESPN why is it that both teams are given equal airtime when this is supposed to be a home game for the Toronto Maple Leafs I and a home broadcast I don't understand the phenomenon of leafs fans i don't understand our existence i don't get it because the team never wins they have gotten bad not not only are they losing but they're so so so bad and the broadcast just does this every i and that's a decision from people are going to point at the
Starting point is 00:08:38 personalities that's from no no that's not that's not the on-air people that's not no it's not yeah and by the way let me let me throw this at you you ever watch an edmonton game yeah they are like fuck yeah oilers by the way every time they take the ice they do a phenomenal job yes and if you watch a regional canucks game i don't think i don't listen i like dan murphy a lot i think he's very objective on a lot of things but i don't think dan murphy's like hey canucks fans how about you guys go fuck yourselves yeah and and uh hey hey you're not fucking smart enough i feel i feel talked down to like you're not smart enough to understand hey we're gonna set aside time for this king's fourth liner who has a relative who's in the ufc who sports net has
Starting point is 00:09:26 a partnership with gives a fuck oh i was glad i was doing the stream last night i'll tell you this too it's so wild to come off that jesse after sports net does such an amazing job being the local and i guess national home of the toronto blue jays they do such oh so you know here's the thing completely different like the leafs you know the talent's there you know the know-how is there yeah under you don't understand what the what the blockage is the blue jays broadcasts are so darn good they're amazing they do a phenomenal job with that the amount of people they have for that one team is incredible you look at the like when rogers oh listen ed's a blue jays fan yeah when rogers rolls out the sports net um up front and they're like these are blue jays people the
Starting point is 00:10:12 line is endless it's like 20 people deep and they all do a phenomenal jobs in their little parts of the game and getting the stories of the players you learn about the guys and they're always focusing on the jays and the broadcast dan and buck like they genuinely care about this team and you can tell through their broadcasting and it's phenomenal product they have the drone shot and they're trying things even from the technical side of it they try things with their broadcast and then you go to the hockey product and you're like we know you can do better and you don't do it every blue jays broadcast should start with folks when you get a load of this shit because they're so stoked to show you the blue jays and i just don't feel the love with the leafs and maybe
Starting point is 00:10:55 we're distracting from just a god-awful game that they played last night oh no we're gonna get to that but like but i think it's worth mentioning it doesn't help it's a miserable product yeah it's on everything thursday isn't a national night no there was no reason for any of that that is our game also on the broadcast thing i would like to mention to you just completely aside from what you've said in which by the way we've been hammering this for years we've been saying this for years not that's well i know sports net does listen because uh because they do but um the it's not like they're going to change anything on our account one thing that i want to highlight for a lot of leaf fans and i don't know if this is happening in any other
Starting point is 00:11:31 market because sportsnet and tsn outside of toronto split off the markets so winnipeg ottawa montreal and half of toronto belong to tsn regional and uh on the regional side on um on sports that is edmonton calgary vancouver half of toronto those those are what this so toronto's in a unique position here because we've got two different regional carriers plus a national carrier. And Sportsnet is both regional and national along with TSN. Very complicated. But what I'm blown away by right now is during TSN regional broadcast here in Toronto, TSN's app is unable to properly track IPs. And so a lot of Leaf fans are getting locked out of regional tsn games and when they go to the sports net app which can properly hold on let me finish
Starting point is 00:12:28 the point and then you can do that what i wasn't doing anything when they go to the sports that have to go okay if i'm locked out regionally at tsn i must be able to watch through my extraordinarily expensive sports net plus uh app and they can't because they're in the gta so there was a ton of people on tuesday night when i was doing the uh the bruins game and it's a ruins game right it's a big deal could not watch the game the only place they could hear it hear about it was us or the radio oh wow and so i i definitely listen i hope bell gets their shit together uh but if you steve cue the soundtrack um if you want to what i was saying what i said to people listen if you pay and you're not getting the service
Starting point is 00:13:15 nobody's gonna get mad at you for pirating if you're really worried about that go steal it go steal i can't believe you would imply that you're already paying and not getting it i can't believe you so it'd be it'd be nice if we had our own bob stopper like they yeah mckenzie's so good at his job like they turn him into a leafs guy like that'd be cool you know like just have him do all the leaf stuff he's there on the broadcast anyways for all the leafs games during the week and then they switch him out for hockey night in canada but like what if he was just waving the flag every time that'd be awesome no hey you know who'd be good at that nick hiprios yeah i think nick hiprios gets it i think he's entertaining i don't think you always agree with him i think
Starting point is 00:13:54 that's the point um but i do think here's the problem too with the local broadcast and i don't know what elliot would say about this and i could always we could always text him and find out but like i think it's difficult for a guy like elliot to be on a panel a local panel like that and be rah-rah leafs he can't and he's not a rah-rah leafs guy anyway he's not a leafs fan what's that i don't expect him to yeah well i know but that's that's the thing so you put him on that panel well that panel instantly can't be rah-rah leafs can it i mean i guess some of the members can be aspects of it like t like jeff o'neill is so blatantly rah-rah leafs and like very emotional when they're ass he's so but that's very openly and honestly fans sorry
Starting point is 00:14:36 it's a regional broadcast for leaf fans yeah he's so very openly and honestly that how many los angeles kings fans in canada tuned into that broadcast last night and is that number four digits yeah that's that's the entire thing like who are you appealing to with this that's i think that's that's exactly it who is this for oh it should be for us leafs it's not it's for whoever hand out the awards for the whatever the back scratching ceremony uh annual is for how fucking non-partisan we can be um and it's for the industry and look how good we are and look at this and look at it's not for fans all right i think tsn does a better job at appealing to least i agree fans hate your product viscerally and you're the only option like you you i i don't
Starting point is 00:15:38 know how you can look at your ratings and be like we're doing a fantastic job you're the only show in town what are you talking about the product's terrible best you can hope for is the team on the ice is good and when they're not good it's so much more pronounced yes like i'm not interested in the look how much we know about the the king's thing what happens whenever someone comes to town and and that's that's most fans don't fucking care and listen we're gonna get to the leafs and we're gonna stomp all over them based on the performance last night don't you worry well but i do think it's a legitimate gripe it's ridiculous that bell can't get it together on the regional tsn games get it together come on guys uh and sportsnet like i i think that's the number one
Starting point is 00:16:28 thing they teach you at broadcast school the first thing they ask you in in at least at humber radio was who's your audience who is your audience if you don't know your audience then you can't appeal to them and i you there must be in a lot of la kings your family how many former leaves her at sports uh i think kipper right i don't know any others tsn's got carlo yeah good coley acavo frankie sorry carlo's not the greatest name in leaves nation right now frank corrado jeff o'neill mike johnston i'm probably forgetting some and other fans from other markets accept them because they're all smart frankie is in montreal and i'm like can we have him back damn do we have him back that'd be awesome yeah like he just anyway does a good job uh let's talk
Starting point is 00:17:15 about the toronto maple leafs who allowed 88 shot attempts last night now a lot of those were blocked but for anybody that's paying attention that's roughly 1.5 shot attempts per minute 1.5 shot attempts per minute here jesse has uh i took this uh of my television like a boomer last night shots on goal 37 to 15 block shots 24 to 8 missed 27 to 11 88 shot attempts versus 34 i like i had some people in my mentions going yeah but berube teams give up volume and a lot of those chances were garbage guys they did not hit double digit shots on goal in a period they there were four periods last night they were outshot in all of them uh the only period the leafs can sort of hang their hat on was the first where they legitimately looked the way they
Starting point is 00:18:19 did last year they were outshot it was six to four or seven to four they look good and the only thing uh uh you can look at is is go well they actually outshot the kings in even strength shots the kings had two power play opportunities that's where they got their lead the leaf scored two goals bobby mcmahon breakaway hooray hooray all that stuff the rest of the way i think it was 27 to 11 shots on goal at home oh my god like and the leafs have played a full third of their home schedule already yeah like i what here's what i don't want to do every single lfr and every single podcast is come on and just go oh my gosh they're bad like we have to talk about why we have to talk about why and we have to talk about what can be done because like they cannot continue this
Starting point is 00:19:09 way so before we get to one thing on the shot attempts uh so a lot of argument about like hey they're allowing a lot of low volume stuff if you look at the heat map from last night on natural stat trick you will see that the king's attempts do come from in close the majority of their attempts come from the face-off dots and below as opposed to like the leafs where they have a kind of a heat map around the net there and then things are from the outside so it is not that it was just a lot from the blue line and thrown on goal it was a lot from in tight and from the middle and the kings got high danger shots this is what it looks like every game this this is how the Leafs play hockey and it is a huge problem I uh like I'm at a bit of a loss like they okay
Starting point is 00:19:55 so one of the big discussions today is they cannot move the puck their decor cannot move the puck it's the exact same decor as last year exact I know that is Tanev an injury to Tanev yes but like he's not the greatest puck mover he's he's safe he's safe he's safe he eats he eats uh he blocks a lot of shots i mean if you were to look at it steve the the they did get caved a lot last year too when these sizes there's a chance i don't know about caved like they got out shot but you know generally you would look at uh the shot counter and like i i found myself nearly every game looking up at the shots at the end of the first or something like that and going oh really because it it never felt like it some last season last season okay sometimes it felt
Starting point is 00:20:49 like the other team had more of the puck actually most times it felt like they had more of the puck but i was i was like yeah but what do they do with it exactly everything was kept to the outside stolars is stopping muffins and and wool is stopping muffins and they're blocking shots and a shot gets through they clear the rebound like it was what we were sold and this is why like i still am resistant of the narrative that well this is berube hockey and it sucks no this is the worst version of berube hockey we saw berube hockey last year and it was a-okay yep they won 52 holy smoking games last year 52 i don't how how many more losses do they need to have before that's mathematically impossible not many i think the shots thing like i feel it is how it was last
Starting point is 00:21:44 year they did allow the eighth most shots against uh in the entire league last year but as you are saying they were not high danger shots and the problem that's turned this year is they're allowing uh everything through the neutral zone they can't get the puck out of their own net out of their own side of the ice and everything is high danger this time around so it is the exact same play style except last year everything was to the outside and it was a bunch of muffins and this year now everything's in tight and that's a huge problem so i i gotta i want to ask a couple of questions about being at the game last night jesse because i think it's important but i i just want to start with a particular player because eventually we're going to get into particular
Starting point is 00:22:21 players okay sure simone benoit spent the entire preseason wearing a red jersey now you can't scratch him because your other options are Dakota Mermis and Philip Myers right yep or Henry Thrun or Henry Thrun who they have not tried or Will Villeneuve who they have not tried I call up Will Villeneuve today yep um he's had a pretty good run there with the Marlies I am not convinced because this is the worst hockey I've seen him play in Toronto and people are like people are doing the gotcha thing from like three years ago they're like see we told you when they picked him up from anaheim for nothing that he oh stop i'm like buddy i've seen this guy play that ain't that ain't him no you know that woman at the front of the airplane like that is not real
Starting point is 00:23:04 like that's how i feel about simone benoit right now that motherfucker back there is not real and i i think he's hurt i don't think he hits i don't think he plays the puck well he can't it's not that he isn't in position to move bodies it's that he physically can't jesse do you have any sense of is there an injury there or something going on to benoit no like i don't i don't know i don't know if there's any i'm just not in on that info but like i don't i don't see him uh as one of the guys who's hampered right now so from the first to the second period first period to the end of the second period right so we go to first intermission we come back so the leafs are terrible in the second period what is the vibe in the press box as this is happening from the first to the
Starting point is 00:23:49 second yeah so you're you're going to the first intermission everything's like okay it looks like they got it together and they had that chat earlier this week and they were calling each other out and trying to hold each other accountable laid like a total shit game in boston but okay what what was the feeling how did you guys as a press corps react to it as it was happening so there's a couple there's a couple narratives beforehand where it was like this could have been the game where things are kind of straighten it out and the first period it definitely felt like that because the kings are i wouldn't a little weaker on the four check you know and a team that's a little weaker on the four check the leaf should be able to like oh okay they're not being
Starting point is 00:24:26 hammered hard maybe the leafs can take advantage of that i don't think that strong of a team on the kings yeah yeah you're not you're not high on them yeah yeah i mean they've been good i don't know if they're better than last year they're a playoff team yeah yeah you know they're coming in and i think the playoff thing um was the play being a playoff team was an important narrative yesterday too uh at the game because this was the third time this year the leafs have played a playoff team from last year goodness i don't i don't know i think it was i think it was mark masters who said that to me um because it's gone unnoticed they've played carolina new jersey and now the kings those are the only three teams who made the playoffs last year that they've
Starting point is 00:25:10 played this entire season in a month and a half the entire season at home you mean no well because they played montreal yeah montreal yes montreal was a playoff team last year too so yeah maybe it's four maybe it's i'm just remembering the stat wrong but it's it's it's less than a handful it's not a lot this was the portion of the schedule that they were supposed to take advantage of and um they should be like in president's trophy range alter is going to the game in chicago on saturday that game in chicago is their first trip to the western uh part of the the the calendar the conference the western part of the conference this was everything this little month and a half stretch to start this season first time taking a west trip uh trip you're supposed to eat up
Starting point is 00:25:59 this entire scale so the fact that they couldn't take advantage of this it's starting to get late really early and it's not that there is panic amongst the higher ups in the leaves but they panic's never good brube said in his in his presser there because it's like panics the the fun word that's going around right now but they recognize everything that's happening isn't good and nobody thinks that it's okay like i feel like we should acknowledge that they also see all of these problems and don't think it's fine so they're they recognize this was they were supposed to be in top of the division right now they should have had a great record it shouldn't have been a regular leafs october which is one of the biggest uh the biggest marks on this problem on this team
Starting point is 00:26:48 is this one this year shouldn't have been the regular october and the fact that we're now in in november and things aren't turning around huge issue i know we talked about oil tober but i think we're experiencing a little leave ember right now yeah this is not great you know we we talked a little about benoit jake mccabe looks like the jake mccabe who uh uh arrived here which is a derogatory comment uh i don't think he was very good when he arrived um him nearly booting the game away with less than minutes ago is one of the most perplexing play like that's not a play you make when you've brought your brain to work that day and and he's a good defenseman he was nails last year and earlier this season when they were struggling in certain games
Starting point is 00:27:41 he was unbelievable who it was bowen byram he destroyed on the sabers and then he fought alex tuck and cole cocked him and you're like god i love this guy and he's been a miserable display to watch since adam i i do my best to defend this guy i think i'm out on morgan riley all together welcome to the club he did not make a pass last night that his teammates were prepared for i think was it kneeler that had that thing up on twitter that was like uh he oh yeah there's like three other guys and one king around four and he fired it around the other end of the ice where no leafs were and gave it immediately to that's like that's like the fifth time they've done that in the last five plays behind their own net and like that's something they constantly do
Starting point is 00:28:33 is they the puck is behind their own net and they're unable to get it out of the so is that moe is that the system that's i think that's everybody on their team it's a lack of confidence so he he's he's making horrible decisions with the puck so very early in the season this is enough losses ago that i could forgive you for forgetting they had that um game that they blew against the red wings i want to say it was with less than a minute to go he has his entire team around him and maybe two wings four checkers who are pointing the other way so they're not even really a danger he ices the puck for no good reason you have four teammates to pass to you can carry it yourself you don't have to pass that puck you can carry it yourself that's one thing i
Starting point is 00:29:20 know it's a different position but nick waugh is doing really well yes yes he's holding on to it and he's gronking his way to the front of the net and it's leading to good things and who did it last night who held on to the puck and it was good iced it for no reason was it riley it was mermis oh so i texted you when it happened because it's not just riley doing that it's not just mermis doing that it's everybody on this defense so then why that they're all doing it is it not a systems problem nobody's telling you to ice the puck that's a brain you can take four more steps and your stick will pass the red line and the refs will give it to you because it's not icing nobody's telling these guys to do that but for some reason they play scared and they don't play
Starting point is 00:30:03 with any type of pace there there was there was a moment last night where riley passed the puck to callie yarn croak who is not looking and when the puck showed up yarn croak's like what what the fuck's the air he had no idea it was there and there was another one just before that that i was frustrated because i was like if the leafs get scored on here i'm not even going to be able to show like the nhl edge this is riley's fault thing because they were hemmed in for so long he makes a stupid pass to someone who has no idea that puck is coming no idea and they were hemmed in for at least 45 seconds hemorrhage god knows how many shot attempts how many shots on goal how many scoring chances and i don't think it ended up going in but i was just like this is just a symptom of
Starting point is 00:30:50 how garbage this team is yeah yep it compounds on itself they make one mistake and then they can't get out of that mistake like there is a grand total of one defenseman playing well right now so it's oliver eckman larson i freaking love him and like i for him here's the thing the the so william villeneuve is a name i brought up um he's the only active right-handed defenseman on the marlies um who is healthy because they have matt benning as well but he's he's injured at least he was an nhl player when he was healthy that might be enough you friggin give it a shot i don't know but what i would say you know some of the criticisms i've seen of william villanelle's game is yeah he puts up lots of points in the ahl but where's his defensive game at i don't you're
Starting point is 00:31:36 the worst defensive team in hockey right now so i'm really i actually don't give a shit and if morgan riley can't make a pass out of the zone which kind of kicked off this element of the conversation what is what exactly do you do here that is Morgan Riley's game you know people talk about the fact that there's a lack of puck moving on the Leafs blue line I think the fact that Morgan can't make those I'd like him to move it less is the fact that it really screws up because Oliver Ekman Larson can do it Morgan Riley should be able to do it is paid to do it cannot do it and if he could if he could then with Tanev and McCabe being okay at it then the Leafs defense is fine again but the problem is that Riley like and thing I'm gonna blame the Leafs a little bit
Starting point is 00:32:22 for this they sold us a little bit on Riley coming into the season there was like well Riley sold us on right and he worked out and he did this and he did that guys maybe I don't think Morgan Riley's a bad hockey player but he hasn't played well since Berube got here and I feel like perhaps we ought to just call it what it is doesn't work within the system I'm out great guy he's awesome unreal guy I just don't think it works within the system and and the Leafs are full of guys who i think are great guys who should probably not be on this team anymore okay i'm out so yeah and he doesn't want to leave but i think that might change here soon things continue so jess when you walk into that dressing room yesterday um you know they i know
Starting point is 00:33:02 they brought out a few people and we'll talk about them what was the vibe john tavarez like he's still captain and like when he's speaking to the public and and coming out first out of the dressing room after a loss like that he still has that captain aura and that captain mentality he's obviously not still the captain but he still carries that weight with him and i said obvious jesse and i feel like he's uh he still speaks very honestly when they have these losses and i his words to me carry a lot of weight when he speaks for the team like uh bobby mcmahon spoke after him and you asked like bobby like hey so you're going through struggles and he's like yeah we got to keep pushing and Like sometimes a lot when they're talking to us and they're trying to give something to the fans, it's a lot of word salad. It's a lot of just hockey phrases you've said before. But with JT, he's thinking about what he's saying and he's insightful with it. And he recognizes there is a lot of season left to turn around.
Starting point is 00:33:59 and i feel like the leafs know this it's not over yet in mid-november but every single game matters and when you are losing these games to the kings on a thursday in november after you've had a terrible start to the year it looks really bad and that's gonna weigh on you and it's not acceptable i gotta hammer someone else but did willie talk after the game no willie talk pre-game okay so he's not gonna talk after yeah well you gotta yell that by his coach and then and then he next shift goes out creates a goal next shift goes out creates a goal but and and that's good to me that brings you back to even that second goal i think yeah when he doesn't pick up by field pick up by field doesn't skate gets caught out there too long because he stayed out yeah like that is why
Starting point is 00:34:55 there's at least another tier of hockey player above William Nylander right there offensively hard to beat one of the most insane killers in the league in the league might even be top 10 like white is is offensively is is there's at least another tier of course there at least one other tier there's probably two above william neilander they're not big tiers it's not a huge group of players above him but if you think you're king shit and you think you belong up there you got to pay more attention to the puck you got to pay more attention in your own end uh detail why didn't he pick up quentin byfield i don't know i know why why he was exhausted why was he exhausted because he stayed out too long and he does that a lot well because because
Starting point is 00:35:55 and it's a fucking hero it doesn't matter if you're tired yeah if you're out there you have to play and and so so what what i need willie to do is is continue to be the offensive dynamo that he is if you don't think that you can if you're sucking air at that point and like every time there's a leaf school scored against it's like the the stick on the knees you know doubled over exhausted when he blows assignments it's because he's tired and he's a human being people get tired you don't need to be out there for a minute 15 man and when did it happen second period they were the best second period team in the nhl mid it's one of the craziest phenomenons i've ever seen and it's like we forgot about it
Starting point is 00:36:39 mid panther series they forgot they completely forgot how to play in the second period the Leafs were up I believe it was two nothing and three one in game three most Leaf fans have blocked this from their memory there was a fleeting moment in the first period of game three against Florida where you might have thought to yourself are are they about to sweep them stop you're gonna kill me are they about to no no because remember the Leafs won the first two games in toronto no no no i'm twisting the knife 360 degrees please uncle they won the first two games in toronto and we all said but now we go into the lion's den or the panthers den if you will we go into sunrise we go to the panthers home rink the reigning stanley cup champions home rink
Starting point is 00:37:37 they have home ice advantage here this is where the panthers are going to try to take back the series and immediately the Panthers are down losing and borderline getting their ass kicked and I said holy shit the Leafs might actually do this Maurice made the adjustment of switching Barkov who was getting killed by Matthews killed he switched Barkov off of Matthews and he put the lundell line there but the other subplot was the panthers dragged the long change and exhausted the leafs so badly that it was like the first period in game three might be the last period the leaves won in that series like i'm haunted by the words of paul marie's and this wasn't even that playoff run it wasn't even against the leafs i think it was 2023 against
Starting point is 00:38:39 no it was 2024 against boston okay monty and the bruins you fuckers you know all of a sudden you want to make plays fuck the plays pound their fucking d so that when game seven shows up they got nothing left i'm paraphrasing the panthers would kill the leafs so bad every second period that by the third period they had nothing left nothing to mush to mush and they lost the ability to do it you can't tell me any personnel change is what hampered that i think they got found out or something and they got to make an adjustment so ricky tick because they're gonna they're gonna be a lottery team well if this keeps up hopefully because they're their picks top five protected this is the other
Starting point is 00:39:37 thing like you can't you can't like you have to write the ship now yeah or commit to being reprehensible because you can still write the ship make the playoffs no one's mad at you oh well asterisk no one's really mad at you your first round and out no one's happy about it step back here whatever be competitive ideally you win at least around we take it from there we'll see but if you're not convinced you can do that you're at risk of giving the boston Bruins the sixth overall pick ah Tyler Sagan and Dougie Hamilton again all over again all now and I think they recognize that yeah it's not something that they don't also realize oh yeah here let me just check my uh nope they haven't made a trade yet I don't think it's that easy to make hockey
Starting point is 00:40:35 trades no it isn't oh yeah no yes oh yeah isn't a defense for just like hey do stuff I think it's called oh wow but anyway i think i think bill zito makes a lot of hockey traits sometimes life throws your curveballs and you don't have time to get to them and that's where task rabbit comes in and i think you should check this out because here's the deal one of the things one of the weird quirks about my condo building is that they use my floor to repel down and clean all the windows but they never clean my windows oh and they're way around on that it's like well it's a patio window you can do that yourself and i'm like well hang on a second what if i don't want I don't have the stuff because you got to have that scraper thing and the washer thing.
Starting point is 00:41:16 The chemicals. You got to have the right chemicals. See, that's what I'm saying. That's why I used TaskRabbit and I employed a tasker. Here's the thing. TaskRabbit connects you with taskers in your area for furniture assembly, home repairs, lawn maintenance, mounting, window cleaning, all that stuff. Here's the deal.

Starting point is 00:42:02 Hear that? It's your money calling. It wants a promotion. elevate your savings with the scotia high interest savings account always earn high regular interest rates that grow the more you save and invest conditions apply visit scotiabank.com slash hisa to learn more scotia bank you're richer than you think uh leafs pr uh as of less than an hour ago oh no wait am i wrong not not not one move but four Four moves.
Starting point is 00:42:39 Four big moves. I'm going to beat you up. I have concerns about these moves. So Ardorak Diomov has been assigned to the Toronto Marlies. That makes sense. Austin Matthews placed on injury reserve retroactive November 11th. Easton Cowan recalled by the Toronto Marlies. Okay.
Starting point is 00:42:56 Joseph Wall has been activated for the roster. You're called to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Yes. It says Joseph Wall has been. No, no. You said Easton Cowan recalled to the Toronto Marlies. Recalled from the Toronto Marlies. There you go.
Starting point is 00:43:05 Excuse me. There you go. Now, here's what I want to say. everybody's like well it's joseph wall and listen i love joseph wall i was the one banging that drum in 23 going this kid's the future this is great and that's before stolars even showed up here's the issue i've got the chicago blackhawks have a pretty strong offensive team now uh-huh and uh if you haven't been paying attention they're actually showing signs of life i don't know if they make the playoffs but they're looking good i wasn't wrong i was just early yeah
Starting point is 00:43:38 there you go there you go i believe they're in a playoff spot well there you go now it's it's mid-november a lot of it is spencer knight who's playing unbelievable right now and exactly hunter bedard who's on the fantasy team and during it sure but here's my issue if they plan on and they were saying about this on the on the panel last night when they actually got to the leafs thank god they did uh when they were talking about well saturday night you gotta to start walling in Chicago. Here's my issue. You guys tell me what you think.
Starting point is 00:44:09 He played 97 minutes over two games. So he didn't play full two. 97 minutes over two games. With the Marlies. He allowed six goals in 97 minutes. And I know, and you know, and I'm going to use Jeremy Swayman as an example.
Starting point is 00:44:25 When a goalie misses training camp, it's often next to impossible to get them going without a serious long ramp. jeremy swayman didn't get back last year at all he looks great this year did not get it back after that holdout and it almost took i was i i hate calling it a holdout because boston straight up like caved so it was a lockout um but he had an 885 save percentage 372 goals against average i understand that for goalies the ahl can be harder in a lot of ways because
Starting point is 00:44:59 it's like a little bit weirder and whatever but to me with Dennis Hildeby playing the way he is and Dennis Hildeby right now is the Leafs best performing goalie which for me makes him the number one goalie he's their best performing goalie all season long does not have a win yep the only goalie on the Leafs with a winning record Caden Primo Dennis and he's not on the Leafs Dennis Hildeby has a 904 save percentage and what's so insane about that is his goals against average is almost four that's how bad this team is that's how many shots they allow it's fucking nuts this guy's crazy good why would you throw joseph wool to frank nazar to conor bedard to anybody else until you're a hundred percent sure hildeby looks good you know what
Starting point is 00:45:49 you know you can play joseph wall and maybe i'm wrong maybe saturday joseph wool stands on his head and everybody goes ah adam you're dumb i'm rooting for that i want to be dumb i am also but Here's what I'd like. I'd like to see Hildeby one more time on Saturday play wall against the Blues. They hate their lives right now almost as much as we do. Perhaps more.
Starting point is 00:46:07 You can do both. Maybe you just... Maybe it's volume. Maybe that's how you get back into it. Like... I don't think you do that. I think you need a win. And I think you need Dennis Hildeby to get it.
Starting point is 00:46:20 Because Dennis Hildeby, the Leafs should be paying... Every guy in that locker room should be funneling their millions of dollars to pay his rent the rest of the season, just based on his performance in the last four games that he's been in. This guy was unbelievable last night.
Starting point is 00:46:35 Unbelievable. And so the idea that we're going to bring up Joseph Wall, who's missed a month and a half of the season, he left training camp so early, and I'm not doubting or finding fault in his reasons, but he left training camp so early,
Starting point is 00:46:49 he didn't get into a preseason. No, you're trying to put him in a position to succeed. We're, this is, that's a, you would talk about, Brube talked about not panicking. you put wall in to me that's panicking you i kind of agree with you because you have a road game in chicago but then after that it's two days off followed by two home games and it's st louis
Starting point is 00:47:07 tuesday and then columbus next thursday that does seem like a softer landing spot but maybe you don't want to put them in you know you want to start on the road you just i mean jesus it's i mean what what are they good at home like maybe you're helping them let me throw this at you joseph wall makes what how much uh 3.6 hey that's enough money that you should be fine at home i expect you're not no no joseph wall's not a child he's like 26 get all your first games at home hey what's your paycheck you'll be fine get in there you were playing game five six and seven against florida and you did fine like i i don't well fine relative term with the leafs uh you'll be fine only reason they got to do not i i think he needs he should spend the weekend with the
Starting point is 00:48:01 marlies i know they're not gonna do it but i think that's a mistake oh maybe he's ready he could just be ready like honestly how do you identify that the the long and short answer could be that like he's like hey i'm ready you guys i'm good to go even though like i know the numbers with the marlies aren't good enough but he could have told the leaf staff like i'm good like i can get back in there i want i want to give it a shot at least against chicago like and then if he tells you he's ready and the leafs training staff and their sports science department's like yeah he seems pretty go like he seems pretty ready like if you were in pre-season coming out of training camp kind of ready where you don't have nhl actual games but it's first game of the season kind of
Starting point is 00:48:44 ready what if he's just like i'm ready to go then i don't think you can sit him when he's available especially because we just saw with stallers that playing him too much hurt him heavily and with hildeby somebody who's never played this amount of games if you're going boston la chicago one day rest in between three games and six nights that might be a little much for hildeby and it might be better just to roll the dice with joseph wall first game back i think you need to know what you have i am so pleasantly surprised by dennis hildeby like this is a guy he was on uh one of the best goalies in the ahl two years ago made the all-star team was fine in the ahl last year took a step back and then got called up to the nhl and was awful yeah he was not good last year
Starting point is 00:49:34 oh my god and i was like oh shoot like i really thought they had something here maybe they don't he looks great holy holy shit that's an nhl option which is something he was not last year that is an nhl option you actually have no idea what you have with joseph wall right now which is concerning i guess you just find out yeah you just find out and by the way i would never trust a player to tell me when they're ready no but they do have they do have goalie eval there that they would know they would know better than i would i've watched you just gotta find out i've watched exactly zero live marley's hockey this year any hockey i've seen has been on a replay uh so they'll know more more than i do but i'm a little bit worried about that
Starting point is 00:50:19 there's all sorts of guys on the marley's i'd look at calling up yeah well they're not they're not looking at it well and berube i thought blay was a berube guy and he seems to have very quickly fallen out of love there at four minutes last night 4 49 i I can't believe he hit 449. Easton Cowan is being called up. Here's the thing with Easton Cowan, guys. You know, at the beginning of the season, we thought, hey, Leafs need top six talent. Pretty clear to me that that is clearly not going to be the number one issue.
Starting point is 00:50:51 Well, they've gotten exponentially worse since they lost the kid. And Easton's numbers, his underlyings are actually really strong at the NHL level. So there's your top six option. It's not perfect. Is it Mitch Marner? No. uh but i need people to put put mitch marner away he broke up with you he doesn't love you like like it's called what do they call it it's called a breakup because it's broken
Starting point is 00:51:16 damn let's move on what's the future look like and and you know when matthew and i stepped into the league he was good now he's great and we need to get easton some time and and and let him be great but it isn't going to be fully this year we need him to be good this year we need him to be an option this year and we need him in the top six so i like that move and that brings me to this there were some there were some people yesterday who were concerned because jay rosehill had that rumor about the leafs and raspis anderson now yeah i know what you're gonna say and we're i'm gonna let you say it i'm not even gonna take it away from you okay but people were concerned because Easton Cowan was scratched
Starting point is 00:51:59 from the Marlies yesterday. So that, and people were like, oh no, are they trading Easton Cowan to Calgary? No, no, they're not. They didn't want him to get injured because they need him this weekend. Yes. You can't, you can't look at scratches
Starting point is 00:52:12 with the Marlies because you have to play a certain amount of veterans and you can't play a certain amount of veterans. You have to get a certain amount of rookies in there. So all the time,
Starting point is 00:52:20 guys are going to be scratched and playing. Plus their schedule is so compact. It's different than the AHL. ahl they could play three games in three nights yes like guys are scratched all the time and they come in and out of the lineup don't look at those things just on paper and see a tweet that somebody scratched and think that that means anything with an ahl the ahl is just for a contest a completely different beat it's a different it's a different system i also can't blame people for being jumping it's a jump time sure and uh and before we talk about the rasmus anderson rumor because
Starting point is 00:52:50 i think it's important we we talk about that uh david comp will be a free agent as of 2 p.m this afternoon he will sign immediately afterwards we think that's uh and i bet it's gonna be in montreal that's my bet the canadians yeah i think that was my bet too i think it fits um and i think he's gonna be great for them i'm resentful i'm deeply resentful of that of who uh david camp because they could have used him uh this year they could have called him up um he wasn't interested in that um left the team he wasn't interested in them calling him up i guess not you don't they couldn't call him out because there was a cap crunch at that point he could be a leaf right now they would have had to put blay on way but he didn't i fine i think i don't i don't know if
Starting point is 00:53:33 it's good to resent a guy from exercising his right he exercised his right uh but like i just i can't connect the three million dollars this year and next year i so do we know that he got no he didn't he did not have to give back his signing bonus and the leaf should be grateful they got out from under that deal for free they got out from under it but like you could be you're you get paid fabulously well to play in the national hockey league and you took your ball and went home and i i can't support that yeah but that's his right to do that like it's his right right to walk out of this room right now jesse but i'm not gonna do it yeah but i don't you can't resent somebody for like taking their career into their own hands if he is unhappy with the ahl role
Starting point is 00:54:19 he's been given and the options are for him to sacrifice his contract for next season and not play for the Leafs. And he does that. I think it's a little odd to resent. You know what? I'll be honest. I'll be honest with Jess. I disagree with you there. A people, he is a hundred percent within his rights to do that. Where I would push back is so was Mitch and Mitch was plotting his out from a previous summer. I don't think in this particular instance, like I understand where Steve's coming from. I don't feel that same resentment. I don't care that much about David conf uh personally like it doesn't it doesn't move me emotionally i thought you're allowed to say that that rubs me the wrong way that i think that's fair is that not fair which part i think
Starting point is 00:54:59 the fact that he just left the team was like i don't want to go down to the marlies and i can't i simply can't do this and um he made i'm i'm gonna i'm i'm leaving the team he made a seven digit bonus uh and then promptly then went to the ahl and did not have to pay escrow to play professional hockey and that hurt his soul and when the leafs could have ended up using him which is what the ahl is for the ahl what you think you're the only guy in the american hockey league waiting for his shot there's tons of guys in the american league who are dying for their shot and i guarantee you their bank account doesn't look like yours and you took your ball and went home so i think like when this initially broke like i did the same thing i focused so much
Starting point is 00:55:44 on the money and i still think we're thinking about it in that way i think it's just a player who is a national hockey league player and there's 32 teams and he should be in one of those lineups yep and he's unhappy that he is not in one of those lineups and the least won't give him that opportunity to be in those lineups so he said i'm gonna go somewhere to play a role that i know i can play which is a national hockey league player and i don't have a strong hatred or resent resentment towards him i don't know for doing that yes i don't have any resentment towards him for saying i know i'm an nhl player and i'm not in the nhl and i want to be in the nhl and i don't care about the money side of it yeah like okay you're telling me sit here and be happy because
Starting point is 00:56:28 you're getting a lot of money he's like i don't i don't care but i think i think what it was is that listen they made a commitment to each other and he just walked away from it if i made like seven million dollars like i'd be brave enough to make that decision too you know what i mean like throughout my nhl i understand exercise they're right and they did give him a shot to play in the nhl by waving him no one wanted him yes because of the contract so he said let's get rid of it together and let's go our separate ways i feel like it's very amicable which i think i think also too is important to note uh again nobody in the league wanted that contract and the leafs got away from it scot-free which is why i was blown away earlier this week guys when i
Starting point is 00:57:08 heard that there was any sort of discussion between the leafs the nhl and the nhlpa about them clawing some of that bonus back i was like are you guys fucking crazy i think it's a net positive outcome for all involved they have to just ask the question i think okay cory perry did have to where there was rumors at the time when he got terminated from chicago paying back some of that bonus right chicago and i don't remember what they actually came to conclusion because that arbitration was very hidden by everybody involved um so they have to ask the question i think the least do doing their due diligence hey we could save a million and a half dollars let's actually try and do that even though it's nothing to the leafs it's still money yeah
Starting point is 00:57:46 yeah yeah and it's principle yes but i was just like shut up yeah yeah go let him go and listen i wish david comp the best i thought he had some great moments here and he's gonna sign in this division people were asking too they're like what do you like there were uh fans asking during the king's leafs last night uh from other markets going like what kind of player is this guy yo listen wins face-offs great penalty killer uh great on the defensive side of the hard works very hard zero physicality uh and he's sort of where no no zero come on i wouldn't say zero i mean he's not a grinder but like he works he is that physicality yeah rub yourself on me daddy is that physical yeah for sure that's david kahn physicality oh i touched you you know what like
Starting point is 00:58:28 that works like he he he's physical like butter's physical when it gets spread on a piece of toast damn like he's just it's not but at two and a half million dollars uh that's too much at one and a half oh makes a little bit more that's okay sure yeah max domi was the second line center for my hockey team it was very nice by the way it's nice to be i think comparing david comp to the mitch marner situation is apples and oranges oh certainly i guess my point was like i i don't have to like every decision every player makes even if it is there might be does that make sense you know what i didn't like this is not even you know what i didn't even like i didn't like i'll give you one that that is not comparable at all i was really resentful of matt sundin when he refused
Starting point is 00:59:09 to accept a trade out of toronto for jeff carter and a first round pick yeah and i and i said this i remember thinking in my parents living room buddy you could set us up for the next era and instead he semi-retired and then came and played with vancouver a little bit and we got nothing well and and listen matt's gave that team everything and the management really fucked it up but in my 17 18 year old brain whenever the hell it happened i was like buddy like ah i still resent vince carter for the way he left the rap horrible sure like but that was not that was not exercising contractual right no that was you're a dick asshole like stop it but david him being called up isn't isn't vince or mitch marner and sundin you know
Starting point is 00:59:57 do you think that the leafs probably could have benefited from just have if he was on a smaller deal he would have been a useful part of this it was like the first thing brad true living did listen so here's the deal yeah then he couldn't crack the team yeah hold your feet hold hold brad's feet to the fire for this but what did you just say it was the first move brad true living maiden it was a mistake how many days had brad been here not a lot of days it had been like three or four yeah who was here cheney who else the entire analytics team oh and brandon pridham sorry guys listen you want to put that on brad i was talking about them yesterday in the in the lfr like those guys must hate their lives today the least half this leaves team has an
Starting point is 01:00:45 analytic squad of 150 people ah like there's no way they think this team is even sort of what it ought to be no no and i'm hearing rumors and i've told you this before i'm hearing rumors about phone calls to the leafs and phone calls to rogers about sponsors being real ticked oh really pissed if you live in active where like we do fabletics vip is for you so you sign up for vip and you get 80 off everything and it's interesting because steve you rolled in here with a few fabletics items jesse you've only heard if you have about fabletics items and i think the the quality is the thing i'd want to talk about because people hear 80 off and they're like there's a catch about that no it's there's something wrong with that i have tights that i wear for hockey and it hugs
Starting point is 01:01:28 my bum in a way that is delightful and you'll never see it but my wife also will never see it because i wear it to hockey but i see it and i feel great about my bum jesse your experience with Fabletics so far? It's like the other guys, except not as expensive. Honestly, the one hoodie I wear from them, it's like green, it's forest green. It's so comfy and it feels like a very expensive hoodie and it wasn't. The thing is too, Fabletics has built a community over 2 million VIP members and more than 100 retail stores everywhere, which is why when you join them, you kind of are a part of that and they're also not just about good deals it's eco-friendly their fabrics excuse me half their fabrics are made from recycled materials and the company has been
Starting point is 01:02:13 carbon neutral since 2021 i don't know how many people can say that uh but that's pretty great not as many as there should be uh treat yourself to gear that looks good and feels good and doesn't break the bank with fabletics go to fabletics.com stp sign up for a vip today and get 80 off everything that's fabletics.com stp to sign up as a vip and get 80 off everything fabletics analytics.com slash SDP. On the trade side of things, Jay Rosehill said on his podcast, I think it was yesterday morning, that he has a source and that the Leafs took a run or are trying to take a run at Rasmus Andersen.
Starting point is 01:03:23 Elliott Friedman backed it up a little bit on the fan later on that day when he said, yes, I've heard the Leafs tried to make a run at Rasmus Andersen last year at the trade deadline, couldn't get it done. and also acknowledged and we've said this we have said this for three years that there is a tax toronto will have to pay if they want to do business with calgary because the owner is still mad at brad treliving for resigning brad treliving is allowed to resign under canadian law from his job yeah but just like within his rights just like steve was mad at david conf murray edwards pissed with uh with brad treliving man every i gotta tell you every moment brad
Starting point is 01:04:02 living spends on the phone with uh someone from the calgary flame should be docked from his paycheck they're not making a trade with you well and and they did have they were close on a deal with tan evans adora of a couple years oh yeah but did it happen but i think the leafs were being used as leverage and so yes and and and the calgary flames do this all the time really important to No, there's a guy you might know who works there. Name is Dave Nones. He's a VP there. Okay.
Starting point is 01:04:33 Dave Nones, former Leafs general manager, leakiest guy in hockey. Easily. I think he was Jay Rose Hill's general manager. You said it, not me. Listen, I have no reason. I'm not saying it's Dave. All I'm saying is I think there's some connections there.
Starting point is 01:04:49 I think they, even if it's not Dave and Jay directly, yeah they would know the same people i'm not like it's not hard to see where that comes from i'm not and dave known as sorry fucking hates the leafs because he thought he was right he made a bunch of daft idiotic decisions when he became general manager god knows how long he was brutal yeah and so he's got a resentment and an axe to grind so of course i would expect dave known as to drop little little nuggets like that and i'm not doubting jay and i'm not doubting jay's source I think that's real, but I don't think that any sort of Rasmus Anderson trade is going to happen. Now, it's important this morning.
Starting point is 01:05:28 Darren Drager was on TSN 1050, and he said. First up? First up, I think, with Carlo, the good one. I hope Carlo hears that. So I'm not, I'm like, in no way am I taking a shot at Jay Rosehill here at all. I just want to be clear about that. I don't know. You know what?
Starting point is 01:05:46 Me and Jay, I bet we could fight. I bet I know who'd win. All right, what did Dreger say? Jay Rose Hill still owes me a beer. Dreger, didn't he give you a headlock at a bar once? Yeah, yeah, I might have. Yeah, there's a chapter in my first book that is about Jay Rose Hill. He's a hilarious guy.
Starting point is 01:06:05 I just didn't name him in the book. So, no, it's fine. Dreger said today that if the Leafs wanted to make a move like that, this is fucking hilarious, by the way, that it would require something in the neighborhood of like a Matthew Nice. so if they were trying to acquire who um if they were trying to acquire rasmus henderson fuck off and we know what do we know about dave notice what do we know i wouldn't do that what the fuck are you talking about what do we zero shot what do we know about dave notice and
Starting point is 01:06:38 uh and darren drager uh pretty connected are they yeah i don't remember i don't i don't know anything can you explain dregs had a and and this is not again this is me complimenting dregs he's hooked in dregs had a direct line to dave nonis everything that happened in the nonis era dregs was like on it is that a thing it's oh yeah you don't remember that well it was long about it on this show it was long enough ago that i forget and so uh i find it hilarious now uh i there somebody pulled together the stats and i don't even know what the hell the tweet when i was going to send it over to jesse i apologize i have it here in text whoever wrote this i apologize for stealing it from you uh we'll find it since november 1st 2024 rasmus anderson is 27 points
Starting point is 01:07:23 in 89 games and an nhl worst negative 41 i don't know who runs pr for this guy but respectfully i don't think that's the option the leafs are looking for so i think there's a lot of reasons wide, Toronto, Calgary. I don't think Rasmus' stats are good, but I do think that people are onto something. I think Jay has uncovered something here that is real, which is the Leafs need a legitimate top four option that can move pucks. And Rasmus, I think, is a good player. But you think about the Flames had 96 points last year, and that's all he can do? And I haven't been fantasy this year. He hasn't done much. I'm telling you, I think the type of player everybody thinks rasmus anderson is is the type of player toronto is going to target i just don't
Starting point is 01:08:13 think it's going to be rasmus does that make sense yes i'm trying to find the other one there there was uh another one last night um with regard to the leafs making a trade and it came out of finland and i'm trying to here it is uh tamu lasala who was drafted by the nashville predators i don't think he ever ended up playing in the nhl um he said per sources rasmus anderson will be traded from the flames to the leafs return sounds like already a red flag return sounds like michelli and a 2027 second or robertson uh and a prospect in 2020 uh a prospect and 2027 second so he's a 2027 second twice there's all kinds of stuff floating around out there if jay's right i'm buying him a full case of beer absolutely sure that's all i like again i'm not saying that jay's
Starting point is 01:09:18 wrong i'm just saying i don't i believe toronto is constantly used in trade rumors to drum up interest i said this like a year ago the the there is a uh moratorium there is a ban there is a prohibition on leafs flames rumors until we see one happen a successful trade between the flames and the maple leafs nope why would why would the flames only take uh michelli or robertson in a second round i don't know does that seem like like just a right shot defense it could listen it could be legitimate it could be a finnish guy taking a finnish guy and throwing him in a trade and being like look at the finnish guy who's getting traded i don't know that's too people now maybe hey maybe i'm turning a corner on this maybe it's gonna happen oh man tanev that didn't
Starting point is 01:10:08 happen uh doroz doroz the agent i've never seen this doroz was on who was he on the canucks he was on calgary oh i'm an idiot sorry he was on the flames and his agent tweeted like the leafs hashtag like hey Leafs Nation you want this guy and we were all like what yeah that sounds cool and then it didn't happen that was the weirdest thing it was like 48 hours where we're like oh okay Zdorov's happening any minute now never happened Elias Lindholm nope the Kadri stuff don't make me laugh and now we're moving on to Rasmus Anderson stop shut up you're right that's two big rumors involving the leafs in the last two months cadre first now anderson from calgary and then and the tan evans adorab two years ago you're right that's crazy it's not a thing
Starting point is 01:11:04 they pull off a trade the prohibitions lifted until then literally any time i i want you to do this let's we're bringing bullying back on twitter or whatever someone brings up a Leafs Flames rumor, it's your obligation to tell them shut up. Maybe don't do it to Jay Rosehill. Yeah, Jay can back it up. He'll kill you. He'll kill you. Don't be
Starting point is 01:11:32 mean to Jay. Yeah, no, don't do that. From now on, though, after that. Here's my question for you guys, though, okay? There are a few teams that are willing to do some business, according to Pierre Lebrun. The Blues? I said that,
Starting point is 01:11:48 didn't I? Calgary, obviously, is willing to do some business of course uh and the wild are also in the mix that's interesting so do you think you want murmurs back sorry who do you play for wild wild okay jesse do you think the leafs could do business with the blues do you think the leafs could do business with the wild are there anybody is there anybody there and please nobody say colton pareko the man's going to be olympian he's not getting traded like it has to be a hockey trade and it's going to be for nice i don't think the leafs are trading nice guys no i think he's the future no that guy's a future captain i think the blues kind i don't know who you you're getting back you know i don't know who you want to take on
Starting point is 01:12:34 there because it's not going to be cam fowler is it going to be justin falk if you say it's not pareko then the list is kind of dwindling you know so you got to look for the defenseman who they need someone who can move the puck exactly so and i don't think they're moving broberg you know so i'm running out of names there but there is a history with the blues and the least doing a lot of deals i know some of that a lot of that's what the caldubis era but it doesn't mean they couldn't do something with uh brad and doug armstrong there's a connection there nashville i think would be very interesting i know that name that team wasn't mentioned but there's a barry trotz who's always antsy to do something and if you go to minnesota and you try and look
Starting point is 01:13:12 at the names there on their defense who could get moved we're looking at the six guys who are starting for them uh z booyam not moving no rock faber not moving chance spurgeon maybe you want them there's a there's a name i don't think they're moving their yonas brodine he can move is that a name you're a check who i don't think they're moving and then we got like hunt you know or zach bogosian who's on ir so you got to find the like if we get the teams now we got to get down to the names yeah and there's not a lot of names that jump out like spurgeon's the only one where we're like maybe but he makes 7.5 million dollars and he's also is that the guy 35 and he's five nine yeah so i don't know that's a leaf guy yeah i don't know if that's who they're looking
Starting point is 01:13:56 for so i'm i'm slowly going through those teams i'm running out of names and calgary's off you know so i don't yeah calgary it's like straight up not enough yeah yo listen if the calgary deal happens bully me i'm prepared to be bullied i think that's opposed to what i threw in bullies all of us i threw in nashville there because i think you get at least some interesting name what do you got with that you have brady shea but there's a lot of years left at seven million dollars is five more years i don't know if i don't think they're moving off of that but maybe you got nick haig who they might have been interested in when he was a vegas golden knight yes they were there's somebody who's not a mover they just the preds just got him like with brady
Starting point is 01:14:42 shea long-term deal signed uh for four four years at 26 i don't think they want to move off of him nick perbix there's maybe but there's a right-handed d only 2.75 two-year deal this year and next year perbix turning their season is nick perbix the guy i won't lie to you i had also thought of nick perfect like really you gotta find the guy who's gonna be a difference maker and then be willing to make that move so and with those teams like i'm running i don't know the name so one one name i'm gonna bring up that nashville moved last year that instantly changed the season for yeah alex carrier uh-huh for the habs he's been spectacular there so maybe nick maybe maybe perbix is the guy maybe we stumbled on is nashville willing to do that two years in a
Starting point is 01:15:30 row is perfect's gonna be the guy who turns around the leaf seat is he gonna be on legends row yes holding the cup and in the meat like so we've repeatedly said well it's hard to make moves okay well you have a minor league team let's use some guys from there yeah and if you're not willing to do that then i'd like to know what you are willing to do because nothing is not an option and and steve as you'd like to point out that is what the money's for that's what like i just don't have sympathy when you are one of 32 people in the world to have this job okay now let me ask you this 64205 nicholas perbic just signed with nashville i was about to say they just got yeah on july 1st he signed with the predators i don't think that's uh 2.75
Starting point is 01:16:23 for two seasons it'd be weird for them to move off of him right now so list of names the list keeps dwindling if nicholas isn't at the top um uh uh the the stats are not great the advanced stats are not great but nashville isn't great so please remember that when you're looking at that stuff like you're looking at a team that genuinely sucks like you're look at cam fowler years at anaheim absolutely atrocious stats as they went downhill immediately goes to st louis and is amazing yeah i don't really care about the advanced stats for people who play on terrible yeah i think there's got to be like more of a bell curve on that you know exactly um yeah what what i'm just what do you find a guy i'm just trying yeah no that's that's the exercise like you bring up those
Starting point is 01:17:08 teams find the guy uh like no i don't like that because they got to be a team who's willing to move off of somebody to bolster their team or if it's just a selling team because they already think they're out of it and amongst all of those teams i don't think there's anything really there for the leafs to move but i'm not uh paid to sit there and figure that out all day somebody is so they i'm sure they have some names like is there a some kind of change a scenery deal with the euler like yeah it's it's bleak like listen all of yeah it's hard to make deals that's what the money's for and if you're not going to do that i would love to see what you have on the marlies if you lose sammy blade waivers like oh heavens you know what i mean yeah he played four he didn't
Starting point is 01:17:59 play a single shift in that third period oh for god's sake do something i'm gonna wrap up the uh the Leafs conversation with this whose seat is hotter this morning Brad for living or Craig Barube logically Barube but I keep hearing that's not a thing well Jonas Siegel did say this and Jesse what do you think what do you think just I'm tree I think tree seat is hotter and so Jonas you just want to be the tallest guy in the press box again well yeah hey Myrtle was there last oh my bad you know there he is slender man uh would keith pelly the head of mls tell me what a rough time you guys had at easter seals playing against those teams oh my i sat next to him and uh he's such a good sport oh yeah very funny oh yeah he loves it yeah
Starting point is 01:18:48 no i don't think he doesn't love it but he doesn't kill us um would keith pelly this is from jonas's article this morning would keith pelly the head of maple e sports and entertainment and a huge admirer of Berube even give Brad for living the go ahead to make a move to move on from the coach if the GM said it was necessary to save the season or is it likely to be true livings job that would be in jeopardy if the Leafs
Starting point is 01:19:13 keep stumbling along to be clear this isn't just a Berube problem right now the roster isn't in a good spot and then it goes into David Comstock and they did mention that the fourth line center by Stephen Lawrence did not get a shot um i i know that in there i know i talked about yeah jonas is great for those little barbs i i know i talked about like keith pelly you know well you pulled the i just got here card
Starting point is 01:19:40 with shanahan so so let me get this straight you're the the ceo that's the title ceo of mlse yep and you like the coach so you're not gonna let the gm fire the coach the gm that was hired by the president who you should have got rid of anyway the moment you arrived but you just got here do you see how this power structure is not it's fucked that's not how this is supposed to work at all the ceo is gonna fire the gm because he likes the coach yep i know it's not his guy but what are we doing yep yep that gm hired that coach by the way it's that doesn't make that is not how a healthy competent organization is run yep
Starting point is 01:20:40 Yep. Maybe they're not the thing I just described. Well, we'll see. I guess we'll find out. Now let's move on. ai cloud erp for any size business let's move on from the leafs um i want to talk i want to do a quick shout out to larry brooks uh who was honored around the national hockey league yesterday uh because he said i i didn't know that i he'd been reporting up until this year i have no idea no idea so uh larry brooks in october they announced that he would be stepping away from reporting on the rangers and everything in new york sports because of his medical issue wow cancer so yes so it was a very uh quick death um month after he's uh taking his time away um so that's that's the timeline there but continue a fellow writer uh at the new york post who works with him molly
Starting point is 01:21:54 walker gave a nice a very touching tribute you know uh for as cantacrous as larry brooks could be and obviously you know we there's some really great interchanges there's one with dan boyle there was one with john tortorella even tortorella said yesterday uh that what he respected the most about larry brooks was the fact that you could get into a tussle with him and the very next day he's right back in there looking you in the eye and asking questions and being a part of it so i did want to do a quick shout out to him i think that that's sort of important and um this is a guy that did 50 years of reporting so that's unbelievable in new york yeah in larry brooks began covering the rangers in 1978 he started with the post in 1976
Starting point is 01:22:35 and there was a brief uh pause uh in 82 where he was 10 years away from the post because he was vp of communications for the devils uh that was the thing what in the 80s i didn't know that yeah he's vp of communications kind of like how in ottawa they just hired one of our media friends ian mendes to go to go be uh had a communication there so brooksie was doing that over there and then but then he goes back to the post and covered the rangers specifically but all of new york new york sports and 2018 he got inducted into the hockey hall of fame uh which is an incredible honor you know because like that's the uh elmer ferguson award i believe exactly yeah and i love the fact that they have that to honor the people who cover the game as well and just show like it's
Starting point is 01:23:20 not the the people like brooks who talk about these events that happen are just as important as the events themselves yes we need the storytellers to make these games matter as much as they should to the fans and i think he's one of the best that they ever had in the business and i'm glad he got that honor um while he was around and everything like it's been 2018 is quite a while ago but you you always see these things come too late and i feel like it was it was very it was apropos that he got honored while he was uh in the middle of it and still covering the team and all that so they didn't leave it till he was retired i like that or retired or dead yeah you know like they did that they did that to pat burns like that's the one i was about
Starting point is 01:24:02 to bring up that's the it's just crime yeah it needs to be it's it's a it's a crime that happened but it needs to be held up as something that can never happen again yes um yeah it's disgraceful yeah when somebody is that esteemed in the business and deserves that it's good for them to live with the recognition for a little and not just have all of this uh after they pass so um it's a shame 75 still uh that's still young that's too young but he he did so much for the game and uh yeah larry books can be missed by a lot of people the thing about too about new york sports specifically is people come and go there it's longevity in new york is so hard to achieve respect in new york is so hard to achieve sports are i mean like anywhere else but it's so
Starting point is 01:24:55 so magnified there because there's so much competition right you know this is a new york metro area new york new jersey that's got what 10 10 teams and that's just in the original four major sports leagues they also have every other sports league that's trying to come in and grab a piece of that pie too so you know the new women's leagues like that and i say new as in like wnba is almost 30 years old but it's new in comparison to the nhl which is 110 115 years old it's hitting a new gear yes 100 and like so for larry to have maintained that for so long i think that is um beyond all the the run-ins that we see i think that that is just an unbelievable run yeah unbelievable yeah the the run-ins are highlighted but you you don't you don't get
Starting point is 01:25:40 to hold that gig for as long as he did by being bad at your job exactly and i probably say that's what i'm saying brooksie uh oh like once a week at least you know it says that it's just a thing people say it's a phrase that came out of the tortorella larry brooks uh interaction there that happened 20 years ago probably it's just a thing people say and yeah it's he that's part of his legacy and it's it's awesome that that was still saying that 20 years later you know you ever been in a fight go look it up go watch that in his memory uh tortorella versus larry brooks the ottawa senators uh announced uh on well yesterday uh that they have re-signed shane pinto four years
Starting point is 01:26:27 seven and a half million dollars um you know it's and he's in the last year of his two-year deal which he signed in a couple years ago uh and what's interesting about this deal is again here's a player that did sell off some ufa years because that's how you have to look at it as a as a you know a player as you're selling your unrestricted free agency years but it is not an eight-year deal uh and you know that was something that people used to freak out about if they're a major piece of your team and they don't they don't sign for eight years oh my god Are they are they leaving? Shane Pinto will still be a senator until half a decade from now. No. But what's great about this is it speaks to a couple of things. First off, great for the Ottawa
Starting point is 01:27:11 senators, obviously. Number two, great for Shane Pinto. Number three, I think it speaks to a lot of what's going to happen in the future. Three to five year deals, I think, are the new norm. And I know that seven years with your home team and six years on free agency are they going to be the new maximums but three three and four year deals are like if the cap is really going to go up the way it's going i don't see why you would sign for any longer no it's the best way to to maximize your income you know hockey players can team first team two no yeah you don't want to set millions of dollars on fire um and he gets let me do a little quick math that's a 30 million dollar deal there for mr pinto um damn i'm jealous uh you know it's good length
Starting point is 01:28:02 he's going to be a senator for like you said the next half decade i i sometimes think we get too bogged down in uh in you know oh they didn't maximize it they didn't get the eight eight years well don't you think you're going to be competitive like you're going to potentially contend at some point over the life of that contract surely you do sure hope so and he's on a great number and what's to stop him from resigning in five years yeah and it might be for more yeah but i i think you're probably overshooting how much more it's going to be yeah sense fans seem to be pretty pumped about it it's it's a good deal the part that i love the most for sense fans is that they figured out the hardest position in hockey and that's like dynamic centers
Starting point is 01:28:53 They have now Stutzla, Pinto, and Cousins down the middle for their entire contending window at cost controlled, really reasonable deals. The highest one is $8.23 million. And then you have seven and seven for Cousins and Pinto there. Like those are really good deals. And I thought Julian was really good in his article on this deal, pointing out that like Pinto has become the total package center where you're not throwing him out in like all the offensive situations. He's the guy you're using on the penalty kill. You're using that in matchups against the other team's best centerman. He was annoying in the playoff. Yeah. And he's going to be the guy to handle the load of responsibility for doing the dirty work as a centerman. and they have that plus two guys are going to be effective offensively it's a really good thing
Starting point is 01:29:43 they got going up the middle i remember jason york came on the show and he talked about you know the one downfall of the sends you know they're highly skilled up the middle but they're really young i think he said that before they made the josh norris for dylan cousins trade as well the great thing about that problem is it does not remain a problem they will get older yeah they will get more mature they will get better and that's what we're seeing in ottawa that's why they're winning games yeah you know it's i think it's a great deal and to add a good number too like it's a little above cousins i wonder if he wanted that like couple hundred thousand just to be ahead of him uh because he is the second most used set up even though he's playing on the third
Starting point is 01:30:20 line there but uh i thought that was a little funny but i don't think it means anything to those guys but we'll see you know what's kind of stuck out to me too is just with the cousins deal there was a sabers fan that just popped up in my feed this morning they're like just a reminder everybody uh the sabers included a second round pick in that trade man oh man i was like oh no the sabers who are bad right now oh yeah that remember like so this season is full of like surprise teams the sabers for a moment looked like they were one of them well they've lost four in a row we it's not right to go back at the fans no i'm not i'm not no no i'm not saying i'm saying like it's not right to go back at the fans when they get excited about a team that has a hot
Starting point is 01:31:05 week and stuff but if you're a sabers fan and you thought that a hot week in october was this team making the playoffs you gotta look at the last 20 years most sabers fans were like yeah give it a second yeah don't start dunking on other fan bases because you won four games in october so i went back to look at who the draft pick was and i wanted to see like if the draft pick is doing well it is a 20 26 second yeah so if the sabers finish at the bottom of the settings that's going to be in the 30s they've lost four in a row the sabers are the only team in the league yet to win a game on the road they're oh five and two wow so far this season on the road i saw kevin adams last night um didn't didn't chat with him or anything but he was in the press box last night
Starting point is 01:31:57 at the leafs game i thought he was like doing doing some scouting he'd point at you like the family guy monkey just he didn't approach me asking like why do you think i shouldn't have a job or anything but he was hanging around did he look up at you and goes oh i thought you were a palm tree no sir i didn't know toronto had those while he was at the least game his team lost 6-3 to the Avs, so that's a thing that happened. And the Avalanche, by the way, have won five straight. Their winning, or their points percentage right now
Starting point is 01:32:28 is 8-0-6. Their points percentage? Is 8-0-6. There's a lot of nights I'd kill for the Leafs to have that save percentage. One loss on the whole year. Yep. In regulation. Yep. They're absurd. And they're absurd. The next closest are the
Starting point is 01:32:44 Devils, and they have four losses. The Avs gained a lot of points in overtime losses, but there was 7-35. the colorado avalanche are on a different level their goal differential is a plus 28 and the next closest team is who just guess vegas not vegas but uh vegas isn't even in the top 10 no so you need to rethink your mind from the first like two weeks of the season vegas isn't good right now no everybody's talking about whoa look at how great it's going for martyr vegas you guys watching vegas he's not even on the first line and they're not doing yeah
Starting point is 01:33:17 but they're they're um from what i have seen in vegas a lot of their games are very chaotic like it's vegas coming back and then blowing it like they did last night and then blowing it and then coming back and anyway yeah they're three four and three in their last 10 carolina uh so so colorado's at a plus 28 okay in terms of goal differential what's carolina's goal differential 13 14 oh man yeah it's but you i wanted it do you see the difference yeah colorado's playing like they're mad and that is scary they're scary they are mad because they didn't win the cup last year i think nathan is furious every moment he's not a reigning stanley cup champion i think it's the worst moment of his life like producer drew god bless him i hate him hate him uh he always
Starting point is 01:34:13 brings up i can't remember if it was 2020 or 2021 when mckinnon's like i've been in the league nine years i haven't done shit like by that point mckinnon had been like i think sniffing around scoring titles art ross's art ross nominated for the the i almost said the selkie the heart and he's like i haven't done shit in this league god i'd kill for one of those i'd kill for someone who had a half after a loss a half of his dog come on oh my god what do you want that for what why can't you just learn some lessons move on flush it you know just we'll get him next time i made jesse chortle on that one i feel yeah because the flush it term oh boy i don't know a lot i don't know that a lot over the last nine years from
Starting point is 01:35:00 one guy by the way in gold richmond hill goal differential is a big one no sorry um new market yeah three and four in goal differential in the nhl three and four name the teams so carolina second i'm gonna say the hmm i i actually have no idea anaheim ducks and chicago blackhawks the whoo yep both at plus 11 they are they are tied for third in goal differential right now the blackhawks and the ducks baby the the blackhawks are i you know they're fun man they're fun i didn't think either of these teams would be this good this quickly um the blackhawks to me are a much bigger surprise than the ducks i didn't think me too me too yeah i didn't think they were gonna make the playoffs
Starting point is 01:35:59 like you said but um i it is because of oh wow the ohhl videos that we do on this very youtube channel i i noticed i kept like oh yeah where did this player play or where was this player drafted oh the blackhawks and who's this guy oh he's drafted by the blackhawks and oh the blackhawks so they have this crazy young group of guys and i'm pretty sure they also have the ahl's leading scorer nick lardis who made a wow last year he we featured him every week he had over 70 goals in the ahl with the brand for uh sorry ohl with the brand for bulldogs they're healthy man they're healthy you know don't necessarily crown them yet because they're still so young but they're in a good spot uh jesse you've got those standings up right don't let steve look i can
Starting point is 01:36:51 pull them up i don't pull them up if you think i can read that far i know but i just yeah sorry i want to see i wanted to see if both of you but i think jesse's looking at them so it's okay i have the stats team stats up okay do you have the standings okay no oh okay well i was just gonna to know i wanted to know and listen there's a couple game differential between games played here sure so it's not based on points percentage but on overall points give me the top five teams in the national hockey league today before tonight's games colorado number one carolina number five oh jesse i can't participate you can't participate i know this basically it's hard because like a lot of the teams have kind of fallen off the ducks
Starting point is 01:37:33 number four son of a gun surely not the blackhawks no okay no they need a few more regulation wins the blackhawks do devils yep number two oh the last one don't overthink it don't overthink well it's not florida great team perpetually great team it's not vegas Nope. Perpetually great team. It's not the Oilers. Tax-free state.
Starting point is 01:38:05 It's not the Lightning. Other tax-free state. It's not the Preds. Where does the other Robertson play? Dallas? Dallas number three. Oh, I thought they were struggling. No, they won four in a row.
Starting point is 01:38:18 Oh, well, man, things change so fast. I know they killed Montreal yesterday. A four-game winning streak gets you to the top of the standings. Right, yeah. But isn't that an interesting top five? I thought, oh, okay, all right. the duct being in there is hilarious i never i listen i i had them getting into the wild card i did not have them at the top of their division so like you know i just like they were drafting
Starting point is 01:38:42 well and developing okay and they made a couple trades but i think what has really pushed them over the top is the rangers going would you like two useful players for nothing and they said yes we would. Trouba's been great Kreider's been great You get a little goaltending you score some goals you get a Hockey Hall of Fame coach that maybe should know how to be
Starting point is 01:39:06 there but no one ever accused them of not knowing how to coach hockey The Ducks man Hell of a team. You know what we haven't done all week is a press conference. Jessica can we do that? Presser SDP The Steve Dangle Press Conference
Starting point is 01:39:23 Missed that Missed that a lot It's a good sound It's a good sound Very good Saturday you're streaming, right? Dessert Do you want to promote that for a second?
Starting point is 01:39:33 I am streaming I would like to promote that right now I'm streaming Leafs Blackhawks Probably Joseph Wolfe's season debut Are you ready for that? No So come watch me be not ready for that
Starting point is 01:39:50 Hey Here's here's uh let's let's do the first one uh first question uh this one comes from steve d um what's your problem because the the discrepancy in views for lfr this year between wins and losses is psychotic because nobody believes the wins nobody believes the wins and also no one's interested in me being happy last night's video is already at 56 000 the bruins one called gavin is at a hundred and four gavin gavin englishman lovely fella the hurricanes drubbing is 94 000 the first bruins loss where minton scored is 74 000 the great game they
Starting point is 01:40:37 played against utah and they won 42 wow no one fucking cares no one wants me to be happy because nobody believes it until they're losing the pittsburgh comeback like that's a super exciting game 50 no one gives a good gosh darn when i'm happy leafs get their ass kicked by uh oh wait no they beat the flyers but they lost all right the world series anyway jesse how much did you like that i don't know if we need to go through steve's entire youtube studio and just read the uh the numbers oh i dropped all these numbers i hope i don't trip on them all right go ahead cool all right so we got a question here and i don't i don't know if adam's actually passionate about this subject because he didn't bring it up and he just kind of went by it but this was from
Starting point is 01:41:29 v underscore v on our discord that says has adam accepted prince harry's apology for not for not wearing a jay's hat to the world series and adam if you didn't listen that episode was very fussed during the Dodgers and Jays World Series because Prince Harry was in LA with his beautiful bride cheering on the Los Angeles Dodgers and he was wearing a Dodgers cap. So Maddie, you can't play this video, but we can play the audio here of Prince Harry
Starting point is 01:41:58 chatting about what happened with the Dodgers cap in LA. This is what he had to say. I'm going to wear this from now on. Is there anything you'd like to say at all about wearing that LA Dodgers hat last week and getting it off water? Dodgers hat, hat gate. Well, firstly, I would like to apologize to Canada for wearing it.
Starting point is 01:42:18 Secondly, I was underdressed. There wasn't much choice. I was invited to the L.A. Dodgers box or the dugout by the owner himself, so I was doing what I thought was the polite thing to do. But I'm going to wear this from now on. He's always putting on a bluesy hat. Make sure I don't make any more of those mistakes. But the other piece to this was, as you can probably relate,
Starting point is 01:42:38 when you're missing a lot of hair on top, and you're sitting under floodlights, you'll take any hat that's available. So game five, game six, game seven, I was Blue Jays throughout. Now that I've admitted that, it's going to be really hard for me to return back to Los Angeles. But no, I'm very sorry to the Canadian public. Devastated that the Blue Jays lost, but go Jays. Okay, so first off, he's not devastated.
Starting point is 01:43:04 Respond, Mr. Wilde, representative of the Canadian public who was outraged about Hat Gate for some reason. listen i didn't know prince harry was doing the real estate circuit but he is this is as mad as i've seen adam about and and here's the craziest thing about royalty is that even when you're in a billionaire's box what a billionaire can't be is royal damn so you can with that kind of status you can say to that guy thanks for inviting me but i'm wearing a blue jays hat this is the country for which i represent one of the many and i'm the prince i must wear a blue jays cap if prince harry doesn't know that then he's got bad pr people which he does he's being polite yeah that's
Starting point is 01:43:49 great he's being polite how about you represent what you are you want to walk around and be prince harry and listen i listen he apologized great i don't think he gives a shit and therefore i don't I don't care what he and Megan are up to anymore. Stop showing me their damn headlines. I don't care. I don't care. How about you? Well, I think you do care.
Starting point is 01:44:11 Speaking at the real estate club. You do care. I care about the royal family. No, but you did care when he wore the hat. Of course I did. So? I don't care anymore. I'm allowed not to care?
Starting point is 01:44:23 He said, I'm sorry. Yeah, he said, I'm sorry. He was in Toronto. He had to say that. What was he going to say? was he gonna do double down on it go no fuck fuck the blue jays yeah go dodgers and i was being polite to a billionaire no i get that but dude you're a prince you're the only person in the world status wise who's allowed to go you know what billionaire i don't give a shit what you
Starting point is 01:44:46 think actually oh i think he's being nice to a friend jesse you stop playing that clip before the best part here let me let me push play on mine my penis was oscillating between the blue jay's hats and the dodgers hats you know the the guy he's talking about is mark walter who is the owner of the dodgers but also the owner of the pwhl oh really yeah yeah the guy who owns the dodgers he made the league i feel like i've learned that three times and been surprised every time yeah so i i apparently think it's okay for him to be like hey mr walter you are a very powerful and rich man i'm gonna wear a dodgers hat while i'm in your seats the guy who owns the team i'll tell you this jess if he was if the if the dodgers were playing the yankees this is a
Starting point is 01:45:33 non-issue one team in this entire country one team okay he doesn't represent a prince of that country can you imagine what happened if the if team england at the world cup next year is taking on i don't know team usa team usa okay and he's sitting in that billionaire's box watching the game and wearing a usa cap do you think he'd do that not the same no not the same that's our national team i don't i don't look at prince harry as the prince of canada it doesn't matter if you don't look at it that way functionally he is yeah the function the function the function doesn't mean much okay but it's still true jesse yeah whether or not you take it seriously it's actually true i don't really true i don't think he has to take it seriously because no one else then if he's
Starting point is 01:46:22 not taking it seriously stop calling yourself prince harry he's the person he's always going to be that the the so the title is related to his birth he will always be prince harry drop that no matter what happens he can be harry when he's going to be prince harry because that's related titles can be relinquished jesse it happens all the time his great-grandfather relinquished the title of king and left the country because he wanted to marry a divorcee true story i i don't know have you never watched the crown come on no i don't watch the crown i've never great show you guys should watch it i'm just saying because i bloody want stemma i think it was very nice of prince harry to apologize for what is at the end of the day a very non-issue
Starting point is 01:47:04 it's not and he went out of his way to talk to one of our like biggest media outlets and go say hey i'm sorry and uh i think that's very nice of him and i understand why he wore the dodgers hat there's something fishy about when i go into somebody's house i'm usually very respectful and if i'm at the owner's team's game i will put on a hat for them jesse i once sat this is a true story in a winnipeg jets box in toronto with all their corporate sponsors and you know what team i cheered for the toronto maple leafs i think i think there's a little bit there's a little bit of difference uh between between you even i i'm a normal pleb and i can still bring it for my team i think there is a lot less on the line for you going to that box and him sitting in the guy who
Starting point is 01:47:55 owns the team seats one day one day harry and i are gonna be face to face and i'll be like harry we're not done here what if he just wore a black i thought you didn't care we're not done here do you want to see him again and face him face to face or do you not care which one is it you know what i do care i'm sure i think you care i'm still shook adam's penis is oscillating between caring and not caring what is that no that's it when i say it's oscillating right no it's from his audio book those are words he wrote and said i didn't read it oh or listen well it the clip went viral because it's the prince saying my penis was oscillating i thought you were doing uh the south park uh privacy no privacy no google oscillating penis he'll be the first thing that
Starting point is 01:48:46 comes up i guarantee it i don't think i'm gonna do that google my penis was oscillating no don't don't do not do not um call the episode oscillating penis so did we did we ever hit on the los angeles kings doing a surprise jersey drop no because i'll read it i think we didn't yeah so this one was from dante on our discord it's link in the description if you want to join the sdp on discord server it's a fun place surprise yeah we have game day channel so you can like sit and watch the games with a bunch of people on our game day channels like every nhl game it's awesome place surprised they haven't talked about this yet but the la kings did the exact sweater reveal jesse said would be the most fun did i say this i don't remember saying this
Starting point is 01:49:39 warming up in their normal home sweaters but i think one of you guys said this warming up in their normal home sweaters but coming out for puck drop with their new sweaters if they already talked about this and i missed it let me know but they seemed really excited about this idea but never talked about actually happening so i'll bring up the story here about the kings doing this but basically that's exactly what they did they went out for warm-ups in their regular king's uniforms and then they came back out during the game when the game's starting in their new alternate oh that's cool which i think is super cool very cool hey it's la they know how to put on a show i right i think it was um so it happened and everyone's like oh it's so cool they did this
Starting point is 01:50:16 and i'm like it is let's back up are the jerseys good and i'm like you're not crazy about the jerseys there they are this was on october 8th so quite a while ago i want them to go back to the the the lakers colors i really do like i the the purple and yellow were so cool they're all jerseys should be that i will say i was surprised they didn't have a jersey like this already where it's just the old logo but the new colors black and gray i don't know i kind of think like they won the cup in black and gray that's what they should be from now on i don't know but it's they're fine it's not a bad jersey it's fine but the reveal cool as shit 10 out of 10 10 out of 10 reveal i don't disagree with you that it's based on like other la kings jerseys they have more they have
Starting point is 01:51:13 better jerseys in their repertoire yeah like this isn't i'm not putting that up there with some of the best kings it's a little plain okay yeah for anybody listening can you just describe it for them a big thick stripe at the waist which i'm just never really a fan of it's the old king's purple and gold uh crown logo but it's in black and white and big sparkly strips on the elbows the waist strip is also sparkly the kings love sparkle and i'm just i'm not super into the sparkle and also the helmets i think the helmets look stupid i love the helmet the silver i'm into the silver helmet give me a black helmet oh i don't know i like i'm being a fuddy-duddy i know i like that they're trying something new i like the vegas does it as well you know we should be
Starting point is 01:52:07 doing more interesting things with the helmets maybe this is fine i know most people actually like this um i don't know cool reveal full marks for the reveal i'm hesitant to even criticize anything about the jersey because i want more teams to do this fair god that might be the only thing that would get me to like feel something about the leafs right now if they just came out on saturday or tuesday wearing a different jersey i think they've already exhausted that too no give me come out you have one mission you have one thing to do come out for the same pass game green jersey in green jerseys yep they do no they don't it's white with green i want a green primary jersey it's all i want and it's around my birthday
Starting point is 01:53:01 do it for my birthday it's all I want so speaking of uniform things we can end on this one the the Leafs need a new alternate like they need up they need to get rid of the black ones and they are gone Bieber's distance himself from that so like get a new one in there it'd be awesome if they
Starting point is 01:53:18 did something cool but speaking of the uniform things will end on this is this the worst thing that's ever been done for to professional sports uniforms so the Green Bay Packers a couple weeks ago they they debuted their new throwback uniforms they played in this i think it was two weeks ago brown means old for across sports brown means old for their helmets for anybody listening right now
Starting point is 01:53:45 for their helmets they design they painted on their regular football helmets like modern day helmets they painted it so it looks like an old school football cap from like 19 dickity 2 where they didn't really have helmets they just had those little brown caps with the leather straps on it so they painted on those leather straps onto a modern day helmet what are you guys and they're ready to win the ball while simultaneously having actual straps that are bright white yeah yeah yeah so this is what they did with their helmets um and this is how they played it's their 1923 uniform that's this this uh navy blue and yellow one that uh jordan love is wearing there that's their 1923 uniform these are the caps you would wear in 1923 so they painted
Starting point is 01:54:37 the caps onto the helmet did they win or lose oh they lost don't they stink right now no they're decent okay um i don't remember if they actually won or lost this particular game i hope they lost they're like five and three never wear this again yeah so do you guys hate this universally well now that i'm looking at it i'm like you know what they all wear a uniform that every nfl player should get to be like an nhl goalie and just customize their helmet yeah i i know i i listen i respect the creativity right always will um more teams should probably try something i just feel like it looks like they put a baseball glove in their helmet like i it doesn't look it's not doing it for me but i get what they're trying to do and i say this as
Starting point is 01:55:18 a fan of a team with the worst alternate jersey catalog i've ever seen in any professional sports there is nothing worse than all of the steelers alternate jerseys they're all the ugliest thing you've ever seen so the steelers also did this did they do this yeah yeah i'll bring it up uh they did is that what the the like a couple weeks ago they did that yeah yeah that's the game i missed the steelers um have a similar helmet thing uh that they did the other day i don't know how they do it steve like we could go through this for hours but every steelers alt jersey like there's once like from the 30s that they had they were just black and black and yellow stripes all the way down they call them the bumblebee jersey sure they're the ugliest thing you've ever seen plus
Starting point is 01:55:56 they've got a gigantic square uh number in the front and then though their alternate jerseys this year i don't know it's like they were trying to be in tron or something and yeah look at this look at this garbage nonsense oh my heavens what is that that's that is ugly oh my god it's like a soccer thing with the you know on the side the the steelers are almost cursed with like a perfect primary jersey yeah they are it's perfect and it's when it's white it's beautiful too like their whites are great their blacks are great perfect and what they're trying to do is get you to buy something else and unfortunately it sucks the helmet's so stupid it's so bad what's that weird patch what's the this is this a soccer uniform that's what i mean
Starting point is 01:56:43 this looks like the stripes this they look like wolves from the epl what is this the just the bumblebee color too doesn't work with the stripes and then the weird gold pants that are a different kind of color like where does this color white means old brown means old that's what they're going for oh god yuck ugly ugly uniforms are people going too far with uniforms yes in what are we trying to the nba has completely ruined ruined their uniform game everybody has 400 nike uniforms everything's a city connect shit it's nonsense man the nfl is going with all these throwbacks from the 20s that don't need to be brought back um are are these leagues going too far with the uniform the shark has been jumped yeah i for years out of commerce
Starting point is 01:57:35 for years i was like this is why the nba is kicking the nhl's ass the first positive nba story i hear will be the first one i heard in a long time like they're not doing six and one they're not doing anything yeah that's that's that's a good raptor story yeah yeah that no they uh no almost all of their jerseys are hideous they're and oh my god the north jersey for the raps enough do you have like you started at perfect you started there and you have worked your way backward ever since the plan tournament's great i think i think it adds a lot of stuff the nba cup i don't mind at all that's fine something to root for uniforms everybody's everybody's screwing up that they're a cream city man we got to bring that bit back where we looked at
Starting point is 01:58:25 this those were the original city and the washington ones that look the washington balls one yeah that was like that was way back in 2018 i think we did that you're in the virgin radio studio yeah yeah it was pre-covid but the pure later studios you mean yeah yeah sorry pure later presents virgin radio yeah yeah anyway long story short uh i think um we need to get back to uh i i like what the new york yankees do they have three jerseys they have their whites their grays and their pinstripes and that is all it is and all it will ever be montreal canadians logo has never changed i resent the fact that the least one ever changed honestly and the way it was just the same the way the yankees keep selling yankees jerseys is they spend a bazooka amount of money
Starting point is 01:59:10 and on whoever the biggest star is and they're and they well and they used to win yeah it's been a but they used to win that's why people buy yankees jerseys anyway anything else jesse i think we're good there all right well we hope you're having a great weekend and steve is going to be doing a live stream tomorrow as he mentioned so look out for that and next week i'm doing live streams too so we'll be updating that schedule but i got i think i got st louis columbus next week at least might even win a game Woo! Let's go.
