Sometimes life throws your curveballs and you don't have time to get to them and that's where
TaskRabbit comes in and I think you should check this out because here's the deal.
One of the things, one of the weird quirks about my condo building is that they use my floor
to repel down and clean all the windows but they never clean my windows.
And their way around on that is like, well, it's a patio window, you can do that yourself.
And I'm like, well, hang on a second.
What if I don't want to?
I don't have the stuff because you got to have that scraper thing and the washer thing.
The chemicals, you got to have the right chemicals.
see what i'm saying that's why i used task rabbit and i employed a tasker here's the thing task
rabbit connects you with taskers in your area for furniture assembly home repairs lawn maintenance
mounting window cleaning all that stuff here's the deal 3.4 million pieces of furniture have
been assembled 700 000 home repairs 1.5 million moves and counting go ahead and get ahead of your

Woo!
S-D-P-P, the Steve Dangle Podcast, with your hosts, Steve Dangle, Adam Wilde, and Jesse
Blake.
Let's go!
What a day, what a day, what a day.
And by the way, the end of this podcast is going to be really interesting if you're watching, listening to it recorded because it will be live.
But we call it live to tape in the business.
All of our podcasts are technically live to tape to us.
Yes.
Yes.
Yeah.
And to Maddie.
And to Maddie.
Maddie, all the podcasts are live to you.
Yeah.
Isn't that.
Don't you feel special?
I feel so special.
You are.
You're the mad duck.
Thank you.
Mad duck.
Quack, quack.
I do want to say.
Yeah, the last 30 minutes of this podcast are our live show that happened during the
draft lottery.
That's right.
And that's what's happening tonight.
And we're very excited about that.
So it's going to be great about this for you, hopefully listening.
We're trying to create an experience where we're all hopeful and happy right now.
And then we'll see what happens.
Listen, this weirdly enough.
And again, we're going to get to the playoffs and stuff.
I saw a lot of people commenting on yesterday's episode being like, well, you didn't even
talk about as if there was anything else to talk about in the hockey world yesterday.
give me a freaking break yeah we'll talk about your series but come on nearly 100 minute show
and we're doing another show today yeah and you're getting your playoffs today so I'm not
going to spend a ton of time on the Leafs right now we got that later on in the show right but
boys this John Chayka said it and he's right this could make their job a whole lot easier
oh my god a lot easier so my question to you is all I want to know you get into the top five
are you drafting best player or are you drafting position because the leafs need defense so
fucking badly never hurts to have a center as well sure so they could use a center mckenna's
not uh well uh i mean you can convert anyone apparently yes you can mitch marner yeah no uh
mckenna plays left wing yeah uh well damn i mean it might be uh here's the thing but he could be a
center yeah here's the thing they actually can't pick all around right it's i believe the first
pick second pick third pick second pick no they can't have third yeah they have they have a 0.8
chance of picking oh yeah okay so virtually can't yeah but but but fourth pick they can't have can't
have i think i have that right maybe yeah there's a graphic that was going around yeah the actually
the most likely scenario is that they lose the pick the far more likely scenario is they lose
the pick michael amato i did have that right 0.3 they can pick third zero percent they can pick
fourth 24.5 they could pick fifth 8.6 second 8.5 first and i believe isn't sixth like 45
percent yeah the rest of the percent is six yeah there's a reason this adds up to like i don't know
40 or something just off the top of my head it's uh it's not great that's where they are right now
yeah the odds are that you will remain you are most likely to remain in the spot that you're in
but these are the odds that they could move up what i was gonna say is here hold let me let me
say this part first michael i don't just let me just say this if he said if you want the leafs
to keep their pick tonight,
the simplest way to look at it
is you're hoping for Vancouver,
Chicago, New York, Calgary,
Toronto, or Washington
to win the lottery.
That is how,
if one of those teams wins it,
Vancouver, Chicago, New York,
Calgary, Toronto, Washington,
there it is.
There it is.
Go ahead.
There's a lot of defensemen.
So that's good for Huff,
Carrolls,
the Latvian kids,
the Smiths.
Yeah, and then there's
Malhotra at center.
Caleb Malhotra,
people saying good things.
Stenberg McKenna so how many names did I just list six or seven six seven okay if you top 10
protected so here's the thing yeah yeah yeah Adam if you top 10 protected that would have been great
but if you give up the pick you are very likely giving up one of the names I just said
Caleb Malhotra would be devastating that kid's crazy and like I'm just thinking of like who
could drop i think it's going to be chaotic the the one the one at the the draft it's sort of
sort of reminds me of is 2008 because 2008 at the top was stamkos stamkos was going first
but then after that it's like four or five six straight defensemen it's doughty and then after
doughty there was some doubt e bogosian i think went three alex petrangelo went four
poor atlanta poor atlanta luke shen went five and i don't remember who went six that might
have been nikita filatoff this draft i think is shaping up to be somewhat like that where it could
be something like forward forward dddd yep yep malhotra i don't know where he slots in
in all that who knows he could go imagine he goes third he could break it up he could maybe
all the d go first who freaking knows yep mckenna is mckenna is one of the most fascinating prospects
in a long time just in terms of his story uh he was a whl mama murderer uh i'm pretty confident
if he stayed in the whl the whole time he'd be the number one consensus without question first
overall pick the way he mashed that league as a 16 year old it in his draft year it would have
been ridiculous he almost like matthews leaving for switzerland he almost had to leave for the
nil uh just to just to open it up to anybody else to get another experience and i'm sure the money
was nice and if you remember when matthews left it did open the door for patrick liney who had a
great world junior and there was a slight debate going into that about hey maybe the leafs there's
two generational goal scorers here maybe they ought to take linea linea wasn't even like the
consensus number one finn they were talking about jesse pulley rv that's right pulley rv because he
was great too yeah and you know stuff happens obviously hips and they don't lie the oilers
didn't do very right by him um but with mckenna there's also oh yeah he was like charged oh yeah
but i think that that that i don't i think the way that that has turned out and i i it's hard
to know what to believe with that i don't think that that is stuck in any sort of way the story
that's largely out there i'm like okay i get it yeah but yeah um so jesse do you have a gut feel
yes i'd like to go oh yes hey yes yes blakey rb thank you um tell me how you feel and that i just
want to get this what i want to do wrist off the top and then i want to get to the playoffs
there's a number of things at play that make me feel a couple different ways okay one in
retrospect when you look about look at how we got to this place i think the leafs did the right
thing initially by going for it because i would have loved if you're going to miss the playoffs
that this pick is handed over to boston in the teens area that's a that's a decent scenario
because then you get clarity on your draft pick moving forward absolutely that's what i that's
what i argued for throughout a lot of this season and then once the season went completely haywire
and you realize that you were one of the worst teams in the league it's then unforgivable that
you didn't commit to losing yeah and you tried to still chase that spot that i would have loved
in the 12th area in the 13th area you still chase that even though your roster wasn't good enough
and it is unforgivable that one more regulation loss would have guaranteed you kept your pick
this year if you had committed to losing more games you would have had 76 points instead of 78
and that 76 points would have dropped you to the bottom three which have guaranteed a top five pick
which would have guaranteed your first round draft pick so i entered tonight with anger
but i also entered tonight with hope because at the end of tonight we can have a scenario where
the leafs have a top five draft pick and they get somebody like verhoff and you're like oh my gosh
a puck moving defenseman that's gonna change that's gonna change the team for next year
because they have to be chasing a playoff spot for next year now that you know your next two
first round picks are going to boston and philly can i which is a scary scenario so on top of that
i'm scared of the future because do you trust john chica to run this team chasing for the playoffs
not having first round picks that they own and control that are their own i think i will give
john chica my trust until he loses it how's that so those are my three things i'm thinking about
i'm open that's what that's called being open to it right being open to it now those are those are
my three different feelings on it it's there's a little bit of hope for the future and how this
thing could play out i'm angry at how they did it and i'm not trusting uh john chica running this
team uh the highest draft pick john chica ever had fifth overall in 2018 brows no you like you
should know the name right heller it's a fifth overall pick it's you're talking about a great
player adam how many points do you have this past season this player i don't know 25 who barrett
kevin curse philadelphia flyers reporter for the athletic who hates toronto he went sixth
overall this is a great thing because he won't have picks to draft yeah they're already gone
kevin curse uh says reminder for tonight's draft lottery according to multiple team sources the
flyers believe that if toronto ends up in the top five that the flyers will then get a 2027
first rounder, obviously originally property of the Maple Leafs, unprotected and not top 10
protected. So the top 10 protection that we have for 2027 will then go away. They believe that
Toronto essentially already traded its 2028 first round pick in the Brandon Carlo deal in that
situation. But they also are not completely sure if the league agrees with them. If Toronto ends
up outside of the top five tonight, it's a moot point. Otherwise, expect the Flyers to ask the
to clarify chris johnston guy that we know incredible reporter with great source absolutely
fantastic further to this cj says it sounds like there's a good chance the nhl would rule in
philadelphia's favor if this scenario plays out meaning if toronto retains its 2026 first uh
during tonight's lottery expect the 2027 first to go to the flyers the 2028 first to the bruins
both unprotected yep that's why for so many months i advocated for just finish 12th he was right
we're gonna be bad he's always right we could have back-to-back years of a team that is suddenly
trading austin matthews and is terrible not owning their first overall their first round pick yep
it's scary and that's a reality of the future but i don't think we should live too much in that
because it's not the reality now and it's actually fine like i keep pointing to july 1st
2023 as like a real like bc time for the toronto maple leafs now you can say bd b well or bt
before true living uh bmd before marner departure okay right because you committed to not trading
him well no we're gonna ask him after his no move kicks in you donut i can't i cannot believe that
was the plan the whole time that's oh well what have we asked politely you asshole oh my god
anyway when his no trade or no move whatever kicks in there's a before and after right and
we're living in the after right now the butterfly effect of tonight will have ripple effects around
the league, like profound and for years to years and years to come. And it's not just about who's
going to get drafted this year. You could say that about literally every year you're talking about,
uh, the Leafs giving up unprotected first, the next two years after this walking us to the end
of Matthew's contract with it, which is a question mark. Holy crap. Is there so much riding on
tonight like let me ask the question
Leafs have to give up the sixth pick to
Boston is that actually the best
scenario it might be yeah cuz because at
least next year's top 10 protected so
like okay let's let's I've got them
coming around it was pretty compelling
let's go pie in the sky let's go pie in
the sky though because this team part of
problem because management was incapable of doing anything they they just weren't bad enough yep
they weren't bad enough to tank the way that they ought to have uh next year if they get like gavin
mckenna add that to this leafs roster and it's healthier matthews looks a little bit more like
matthews willie is the same they have a head coach who's not incompetent they have a
they get a little bit more health luck on the decor maybe even add they get a little bit more
health luck in net maybe even make a move there this team's not going to be able to bottom out
no no but is it good enough to make the playoffs because that's all that matters
in the western conference oh shit i understand like at least in that scenario where you do get
that really high pick let's say it's mckenna you get mckenna at least there's a good floor
that we'd think like okay even if you're not competing for the stanley cup that pick you
have to hand over in 27 28 to philly and boston isn't first overall it might be 15 or 16 or
something like that that is like manageable this year scenario where it could have been
in the middle of the pack and you do have colorado's first round pick next year although
we expect it to be quite low yeah that yeah but still you have one sure right you still have one
Yeah.
You could have two, but you can't.
But you can't.
Now, those are the stakes, right?
That's what really...
There's a lot on the line.
There's a lot on the line tonight.
So I'm going to be kind of interested to see how this all goes.
And so I'm going to leave it there because if we spend too much time on this,
it's going to be basically out of date.
But that was the whole point.
We needed to have this segment so that people could laugh and cry.
Is there anything else you guys would like to add on the draft thing
before we get to the playoffs?
There is a warning for Toronto Maple Leafs fans and what could happen
because many moons ago uh kawaii leonard was a toronto raptor and he no longer wanted to be a
raptor after winning an nba championship i think he no longer wanted to be a raptor the minute he
got here yeah he never wanted to be a raptor to begin with won a championship and then decided
to leave he decided to go to la where he's from he wanted to play there the clippers wanted him
so badly that they traded the reigning mvp he wasn't at the time but now he is to the oklahoma
City Thunder they needed Paul George because that's what Kawhi Leonard wanted so in order to
get Paul George they traded a whole bunch of first round picks and those first round picks are
starting to come due and the LA Clippers are not good they haven't they not even traded them all
they're still they're still coming due this year one of them has come up this year and next year
the picks are coming due whoa there is an opportunity for the Oklahoma City Thunder who
are the best team in the nba may win back-to-back nba championships to have the also to have the
first overall pick this year because that's like la clippers that's like magic johnson with the
lakers where they were like first and then got magic johnson it's it's a scenario that is alive
because a really bad organization traded an unprotected first round pick for something that
wasn't a guarantee and that's the winning side of it and now we could have a doomsday scenario for
the nba the toronto maple leafs might have walked themselves into an la clippers corner and that's
something that could play out over the next couple years and i'm here for the ride and it's very
exciting i have a question does matthews plant trees yeah well he does now okay does kawai let's
be honest i've got this idea for a company where we plant trees for charity and i just feel like
the only two people that I want to represent it are Matthews and Nylander you know I just feel
like that that's a good fit for me do any of us know anyone named Pablo Ontario Toyota dealers
you know that we love them and we know that we love the Tacoma and red tag days are on right now
and I just want to ask you guys let's go to the second round we've had a few games in the second
round we're still waiting on Montreal and Buffalo to start however if you had a Tacoma like player
in the second round and i'm going to start i got one okay i'm going to say marcus felino
because he blew up kale mccarr and to me when we're talking about 6400 pounds of towing capacity
i think that's marcus felino i got one i'm gonna go kale mccarr because he came back from that
oh and then had a really good performance i kind of like that yeah i want to pick the man who
dragged his team some would even say towed his team to the second round and that's yakub dobish
who in that performance against tampa bay was the ultimate x factor when his team's not getting
shots on goal it's his job to stop the shots that are coming at him and he did a fantastic job at
that yeah this is honestly like we have this um he's got this thing where he there's a goalie
every spring that has like the goalie of destiny and there's a little bit of that like the thing
that buffalo doesn't have is a dobish right but buffalo's got a little bit of that a magic too
and they're playing each other in the second round but dobish has a there's just a little
like alex lion like that do you remember mark andre flurry in the first vegas year when they
went all the way to the finals yes that's what dobish reminds me of right like there's just like
a hey i i'm yes i'm good and mark andre flurry was already a hall of fame goalie at that point
but i'm going to be this much better but maybe alex lyon is mark andre flurry from the 16 and
17 runs where he gets usurped by matt murray the murdoch but they win the cup anyway so no one
cares oh you could be that could be that upl upl uh okay so it's not just about raw power it's also
smart available panoramic multi-view monitors we're talking about assists like hockey players

from the fear of cancer register today at pmcfwalk.ca all right let's get to last night's
game uh we will do some talks about tonight's game but but you know for now philadelphia carolina
heartbreaker in game two for philly this was i think philadelphia's best game of the playoffs
like they were outstanding in this because you think about the opponent yeah yeah like like let's
let's talk about this okay talk about this for a second carolina people talk about they're they're
so great and they are they are they are they are underline carolina's division let's bring up the
stats for how everybody finished okay now carolina because carolina gets uh carolina kind of got
screwed actually playing ottawa was way too hard you know what i mean and they swept them and they
swept them carolina finished where we told that as soon as the season goes over uh nhl takes down
the standings i hate that um second in the league i think they were second in the league but i'm
looking more in their division okay so carolina had 113 points sheesh the second place penguins
had how many steve hundred and five 98 the third place flyers had how many steve 97 98 oh
damn so the carolina hurricanes are playing teams that they were 15 points up on that
seven and a half wins right that is that's that's 15 otls that's so many points that's so
many points the flyers taking carolina leading them for that long dominating a lot of the play
i know carolina's great that's why they came back and won but the flyers doing that i think
deserves a little bit of give them some flour the first time carolina's trailed in these playoffs
that's insane it took until the sixth game and they were trailing by two
they didn't let it get away from them they worked away they were the carolina hurricanes and
you know who's maybe the most underrated player in these playoffs like in just in terms of
individual performance taylor hall oh he's having an outstanding playoff we're all talking about
freddie anderson we're all talking about logan stankoven hall's got what eight points he's been
amazing including an overtime winner and he was a throw-in in the trade was he not how did they
even get him it was like uh was he not i think he was now i don't remember it was like a it was
like a weird thing that or did he sign their free agent why regardless it was sort of like
oh yeah taylor hall's a cane now and everybody kind of ignored it and now he's playing traded
yeah i felt like he was i thought it was miko ranton and adjacent but maybe i'm wrong
and and it doesn't matter he was such a suitcase for a while he was but this is a guy that won a
heart trophy once heart trophy when i see him dial it up for the playoffs he had one playoff with the
coyotes yeah in the bubble no one remembers because it was the coyotes and it was a bubble
yeah six points in nine games and this is a guy who
i'll go there i'll be dark he took a hit in the memorial cup where everyone watching it was like
he's dead he died and he just gets right back up i think he returned to the game and was a killer
for back-to-backs before he was even picked yep he was one of those guys who just didn't get much
of a chance to prove himself in the playoffs and then i want to say his first year or his first
time making the playoffs he was it was the year he won the heart and they just got killed because
they were always going to get killed this is a playoff performer he's having one of the most
underrated playoffs out of anyone in the league i think i mentioned this in the series preview but
if you haven't been paying attention to the playoffs you haven't noticed taylor hall because
he's that line of hall stankoven and blake have been the best line in the playoffs so far so you
just haven't been watching like they dominated ottawa they were the sole reason that there was
offense out of the carolina hurricanes and they've just continued to play that well like blake had
two assists in that game one came on the power play on that ehlers play and then he assisted
on that hall play and stankoven was still just as good that second line has been better than
any line in hockey and yep taylor hall is a large reason of that yeah i was wrong he's got nine
points that's a lot nine points in six games and he became a uh carolina hurricane because he was
a part of the miko rantanen trade yeah okay who was he technically miko rantanen came to carolina
through chicago oh right carolina sent a third round pick to chicago so that chicago completed
the miko rantanen trade because they sent taylor hall and rantanen to carolina because of it was
it a double retain uh yeah i know when double retains could happen yes can i just say i
remembered something hey you did this guy oh not the whole thing but i got part of that would be
the only reason they do it because they moved the salad yeah right so yeah so chicago retained on
that and gary said fuck that no one wants that shit nobody wants fun trades nobody that's that's
against the spirit of the rule i'm gary boring for fart man bet bet dude it's always funny when
you have those and you could say like ransom was a black hawk yeah like robin letter was a leaf
he was anyway he was indeed a hall has nearly a goal every three playoff games he's got 19 and 60
he's got 44 points in 60 games he's got nine and six the only the most unforgivable thing the
leafs ever did i think under dubas most unforgivable and i'm not trying to be a hater
is going for nick felino over taylor hall that and i know nick felino would have been a good
trade had he not injured his back he's still playing and he's effective for the wild i'll
die on that hill hall would have been better and i will die on that hill damn and you know i'm
right you know i'm right hall was always a better hockey player a center would have really tied the
room together and i thought he played really well then he hurt his back and became a guy
he was just some guy just saying i think last night he continued his con smith uh run frederick
anderson was great again he did enough he was you know what that was the best i've seen from freddy
and i as a generational freddy hater i know not really uh i just have seen him fail time and time
again for teams that i care about um freddie was awesome he was he was excellent said this is the
best you've seen him he has two shutouts yeah but this was the better one he had like he had a
shutout in every minute of this game except one did were he allowed to jesse jesse did ottawa
it's true did ottawa lose the series or did they get run over uh because everybody's like oh well
they were in it but they weren't but it's like well you got swept i can't give you a one sentence
answer on a four-game series
that I watched every minute of.
You sound like Rod Brindamore
when Rod Brindamore got swept by the Florida Panthers.
There's too many details.
If you want me to analyze the four-game series,
we can spend
30 minutes on that.
I think we're all forgetting. We agreed,
I'm pretty sure, that Rod Brindamore
was correct when he said that.
It didn't feel like a sweep,
but the point I
made, I was like, can you imagine if Sheldon Keefe
said that shit?
yeah we would be the number one meme forever oh we and it wouldn't even be a top 10 let's let's
be honest it's copio it's it's enormous copium and we would be laughed at but people looked at
that and it's rod brindamore and they're like all right fine and they watch the actual series and
they're like yeah i guess he's right but like that is ironically a very accurate way i think
to describe that Hurricanes-Autobah series.
It was close.
It was a sweep.
It was close.
But one team can execute better than the other one.
And Philadelphia is up against that.
100%.
And you see that, right?
It's when their back's against the wall.
All they did was commit to their play style,
and they continued to do the thing
where they outshoot their opponents.
And there's so many penalties in that game.
The whole thing was played on special teams.
And they executed one on the power play with Ehlers,
and then they get the goal in the third
and then things just kind of tilted their way.
Yep.
They're a really impressive team.
They are.
But I want to say Philly deserves the flowers
for at least being in it.
Again, listen, I know it's the playoffs
and it's the second round and it's like,
well, we'll just get out there and win.
But this is a team that was 15 points down
on the Carolina Hurricanes.
And the fact that they beat Pittsburgh,
no one called that.
Nobody called them beating Pittsburgh.
And they tied with Pittsburgh.
They should have.
Okay, Jesse.
ironically carolina's playing like i'm so mad because i was like i you always ride the hot
hand i was like except for crosby so i'm right i'm going with ottawa and i'm gonna go with the
penguins because i believe in crosby fucking idiot heading into the playoffs both teams were
hot hands not pittsburgh no um philly i know that's what i'm saying like carolina is playing
against the the the dreaded oh the team you don't want to play and they're six and oh
yeah i guess the two odds yeah like i think uh we've there's maybe been an overcorrection with
the hurricanes this team that always seems to have a plateau like can i just go they're the
most underrated team in the league no no no can i go on the record and say time and time and time
again i picked these fucking carolina hurricanes to do well and and i remember i picked them to
beat florida uh three years ago yeah and you punched out just like you did with the ducks
yeah that was unforgivable time and time and time again i have supported the carolina hurricanes and
they've let me down and this if this is the year they do it damn it man all right there's a chance
they go undefeated to the stanley cup final stop it and they lose their first game in the cup final
i can see them i can see them putting on a clinic with buffalo or montreal i can like you could see
it there they are they're laser like i could see unbelievable philadelphia hearing this and winning
for us right yeah that's true too cousin schooners is gonna light jesse up i hope so i would love for
them to feature me again cameron's gonna call in yeah cameron call up the show again cameron
what the fuck it's i will be alone in the house and say that to myself uh it is one of my favorite
vocal stim yeah for sure now uh here's what i want to say seth jarvis tying it up uh i later
and the third and you they they know where his his buddies are the instantly the camera goes to
where his buddies are and i wanted to ask you guys i'm like this feels like hockey's version
of entourage in like the not weird kind of creepy ways that entourage entourage could be dark right
this feels like the it's like entourage but it's like a disney nickelodeon exclusive you know what
i mean yeah and it wasn't called entourage it was just called pals just pals i'm assuming that he's
Because, listen, normal jobs, you're not, most people can't just afford to go to all those games.
Like, I'm assuming he's just flying his buddies in, right?
You got to be flying your buddies in.
I think so.
So, I went to school, well, we both went to school with a bunch of guys who knew Wayne Simmons.
Yeah.
And they were at a lot of Flyers games, and not all of them were in Toronto.
And I was the same age as them, and we all had entry-level summer jobs.
i don't think they were flying to philly on their own dime on the zoo salary you know i don't think
so i don't think so so i i hope seth is uh i saw his extension freaking cough up good for him good
for him now when you when you go to the highlight of the game even look at them on espn like as the
action's happening they have a cam on these guys and jarvis scores and they go to that cam and
they're just all celebrating if you could find some way to upscale that that's almost like uh
renaissance painting right like that is that is in a that's a shot that you know what steve you're
gonna hate this if you could ai that and clear it up a little bit that could that's a shot you put
on your wall and you and you go that like because that's an amazing look at that look at the joy the
excitement can you imagine that that's so fun and they all have stankoven jerseys or sorry not
stankoven seth jarvis jerseys on the closest i've come to this feeling is when jesse scored the game
seven goal for us in a video game oh that's a good time that is the closest yeah and when you
won the ball hockey championship for john boy yeah that's right yeah that's you were so happy
for me and i was like that's that was a good that was a good time that's my guy i'm glad you proved
all those haters wrong yeah dangle couldn't do it and you did it dangle did it hey take the
championship away from me oh you can't you've got the ring forever oh you can't you look up to the
guy there's the banner it hangs forever yeah i got the banner in the jamboy media warehouse
hell yeah dude yep yeah actually somebody oh man it was really funny craig somebody went at craig
button because he was making a comment about john chayka and uh and they're like uh you know because
craig's saying like he doesn't have like the resume and someone's like lol craig button didn't
have the resume when he took over in calgary and craig responded with a picture of the stanley cup
and his name circled on it and he wasn't the gm but like he was in the dallas he was there
frig off his name's on the cup the guy to his credit the guy was like well you got me
that's all you can do yeah you're done well yeah your name is literally chiseled into the stanley
cup incredible quite the joker yeah if we were playing president and we'll be for the next 100
years right like it's they take a while for the rings yeah uh not forever because they do take
the rings off that's right the Leafs are about to come off the cup I hope you guys know that

Moving on to Vegas and Anaheim
jesse there is a play i'd like you to bring up and this is the play of the game is this your boy
this is jackson adam your boy jackson lacombe pulled a toronto maple leaf playoff move
a mitch marner austin matthews william nylander special okay he needs to lacombe through the
footage and figure out that he should have shot it i was so mad watching the tv it was insane we
had just done the preview like yesterday yeah and then it went up yesterday and yeah and then
we're talking about jackson lacombe and we're like oh he's so good and everything and then
this happens and it's just like shoot the fucking pot and you know what's crazy you know what's
crazy is okay he passes to troy terry maddie take the take the screen down let's see the whole thing
yeah he mad no no no no but no steve reaction there we go there it is oh my god like oh i got
you know the mitch marner shot from 2022 or 2023 against boston yes where it's like 2024 he oh is
it 24 okay he passed he's like mitch marner passed here jackson lacombe passed here this is this is
worse and here's the thing worse the ducks ah the ducks started this game shots nine to one i saw
that they dominated this game top to tail and if you saw um i don't know if you guys saw this but
torts was furious after the game uh like and you can tell when torts is just he's furious but he's
keeping it cool for the media hey uh so this is the danny webster tweeted this this is great he
said uh was there anything that stood out to the group last night torts said we were not good
anything specific i'm not getting into specifics changes in the lineup i'm not getting into
specifics was there uh was there good tape there was some mitch marner who scored last night or
Did he score?
Yeah, I can't remember.
He definitely had an assist.
He had an assist.
No, he had a great pass.
That's what it was.
Mitch Marner got up in front of the cameras and said,
we shouldn't be happy with this game.
And there was a reason that this game was the Ducks game.
That should have been the goal.
It's a disappointing result for them.
Marner had the empty netter and the assist on the Brett Howden goal.
And the Howden assist is insane.
Like, it's vintage Mitch.
Three goals, two assists in his last two playoff games.
He's incredible.
Good hockey player.
Worth the 12 mil.
Yeah, oh yeah.
uh i want to show you i want to show you um this this is the craziest waved off icing play
i've ever seen because this is the play the ducks do actually tie it up because the ducks were down
one nothing when lacombe doesn't shoot but then lacombe creates an opportunity and the ducks score
two minutes later three minutes later for whatever reason the linesman the linesman take it down
does not call this an icing and i don't get it and i want to see what you think
and even on the even on the espn broadcast which is i'm gonna be honest it's a little dead
a little bit of a snooze man hockey um i haven't heard any other broadcasts uh this was one of the
i don't hear them a lot right uh hockey maybe more than any other sport features the play-by-play
and color commentator going i don't i don't know what happened best officials in the world yeah
yeah no we got we got two angles to show you so we'll start with this one because it gives you a
perspective of where the puck was played so barbachev we all kind of know it's an icing
barbachev's coming up the ice he is well short of the red line they you always kind of do your
thing where if you reach the red line with your stick and you're shot and you're dumping and you
cross it with your stick then you're good but here he is well short so we know when icing should be
coming up so that's the puck you can see it here it is flipped into the zone hi we're getting a
chase for it so we got jack eichel and who's the duck that's jackson lacombe it was lacombe and
eichel going for the puck lacombe's ahead of him here as we get almost to the face-off circles but
as we know by the rule of icing it's called when you get to the hash marks if you get to the hash
marks and the linesman feels like hey the other guy might touch the puck first then i can wave
off the icing and that's it it's 53 in the zebra costume here who's going to make this play so
there's lacombe and eichel going for it and we see the zebra here waving his arms no icing is his
decision there because lacombe makes a play on it because because he thinks eichel is going to beat
him whatever reason he thinks we will never get an explanation because they don't tell us what
they think so we don't know he has about three excuses here yes one he thinks eichel is gonna
get there first two he thinks lacombe is slowing up so that the puck goes past or three he thinks
lacombe is slowing up to block eichel from getting to the pot i think all three are just as plausible
i actually don't have a problem with this icing call i do have a problem with the league where
they don't explain um i have a huge problem with this icing call because if jackson lacombe is
slowing this up it's a penalty it's jack eichel if jack eichel wants that puck jack eichel is one
of the fastest hockey players in this league steve if jack eichel wants that puck you can get that
puck i'm confused as to why i played it the way jack eichel slowed up and stopped pumping his
fucking skates because it was icing because he thought it was icing and i think no so that's
the first angle where you see it from the overhead of of where the punk is puck is being dumped here
is the angle from behind the goal of dostal where you can see that lacombe has the angle on him
and i've watched a lot of hockey in my life and i think 98 of the time they call this icing they do
because the guy is ahead of the other guy and we're almost at the hash marks and whether he
slows up a little or not they call it icing most of the time i've seen this play and it's usually
icing third period icings in the playoff there is a playoff whistle for penalties there's a late
series whistle which is very different same applies for icing and we we got to see it a
few times in game seven montreal tampa none were this egregious but way more often they're like
nah play on so you think they made the correct call or the five minutes ago in a tie game they
usually make in this circumstance is what you're saying uh that that's been my experience watching
games okay these playoffs at minimum so you'll see there's a slow up by lacombe trying to block
eichel's view there and he catches up to him because lacombe's trying to block him towards
the puck just in case they have to go battle for it and this all leads directly to a vegas a very
soft play and lacombe did take uh did take responsibility for this he said i was soft
along the boards and and here's the thing the ducks stopped playing hockey in vegas didn't
Yes.
Yeah.
And that's a rookie mistake.
Yes.
Eichel gets this.
It goes across.
Goal.
And just for every Vegas fan who might be upset with me on my take about the icing,
I think the Ducks' responsibility here is to not stop playing hockey.
Oh, yeah.
This is an excuse for...
This is meant to be a goal.
Don't take your ball and go home.
You can play the puck still.
Jackson Lacombe can go into that corner and play full out and win the puck battle and
not allow a goal.
jacob truba's in this play too and he's terrible on this on this goal yep where's truba going the
ducks messed up like you guys you guys you need to keep playing to the whistle and they didn't
and this game is on you vegas earn this victory well and that's the thing and quinville said
afterwards he's like clearly i disagree with the call he just went he went nuclear on the bench
because he was he was saying that's icing why are you waving it off and then when the goal goes in
then he explodes even more i was like whoa but but you know this is this is the margin in playoff
We talk about this all the time, and this is where a veteran team finds a way to win
in a game, frankly, they did not deserve.
And Vegas are the one, it's not me saying it, it's the players on Vegas going, we didn't
deserve that one.
We got it.
Oh, you think every year the team who wins the Stanley Cup, they win 16 games.
You think they deserve to win each one?
Come on.
There's an art.
There's an art to it.
And Vegas knows the art.
They do know the art.
So Anaheim, I think is a learning experience.
This is why I picked Vegas in this series.
anaheim is an incredible hockey team and they're even better than i thought but the margins in the
playoffs like these are the things i'm talking about these little little things steve do you
think uh florida deserved to win game three of the second round last year they probably don't
against most teams worth their salt um they did against the leafs interesting two nothing lead
game three do nothing leading the series yeah that would have been changed the course of history
you talk about the before and after dates the there's the mitch marner no move
and there's up to nothing in game three against i'll never forget that yeah i'll never forgive it
oh they were close i'll kill you
they're close every time they're close every time
all right oh we went seven how about you go to jail who did how about i kick your ass who did
you guys pick in this series for your second chance brackets uh vegas uh ducks okay yes too
yeah i'm i'm picking ducks i i actually am very encouraged by the game they played i didn't expect
them to dominate like that i don't expect vegas actually did a really good job parking the bus
that's the one thing the other thing that i you know that you look at the stats shot stats and
if you don't watch the game it's hard sometimes um but vegas were allowing them to get the first
shot through where they couldn't stop it no rebounds carter hart actually looked like an
nhl goalie last night because they were able to and he's looked not like an nhl goalie since he
came back to the nhl i was gonna say carter had a good game he did like all credit to him he did
he was clean showed up in game one and had a good game yep and i think that is going to be the thing
for anaheim is you've got to create rebounds they are anaheim's a team that goes to the net you tell
you scream about it they've heard you um i do think that they've got a real good shot in this
series still i'm really encouraged by game one for them yeah shit listen you are going to lose
unless you're carolina lose games in the playoffs if you vegas's goaltending situation and yours
is one that if you outplay them you should win that's why game one's a massive whiff yeah yeah
you gotta you have to take game two i'm not gonna look at this like oh well you know you're down to
nothing but you go home you have to take game two you do no i agree with that yeah i agree because
going down to against vegas now now we're in the constrictor this is let me be old about this it's
easier to win game two in vegas than game five or seven yeah you gotta win game two you do uh
minnesota colorado i thought initially i thought initially this was the 10th most
10th highest amount of goals
in a game turns out I was
wrong according to producer Drew it's the 5th highest
ever
in the 110 plus years of the
NHL 9-6
including the 80s that's what
I thought now it must be a bunch of games
tied because maybe
there's a bunch of games where they scored this much
15 goals I thought it was 10th
Drew saying it's 5th but there was
15 goals the most goals
by the way was a
la edmonton series surprise surprise because neither of those teams could play defense
40 years ago in 1982 the miracle in manchester series anybody who's a kings fan is going to
remember that wow this is for playoffs playoffs okay yeah yeah it's just playoff games okay
is is uh pittsburgh philly in there from 2012 i was looking at regular season games oh i was
gonna say they were way off oh no no there's plenty of regular games way more than that
but this is I mean listen they're gonna what's hilarious about this is you could look at both
goalies if you only were given the stat sheet for one team I give you Colorado stat sheet
got it and you're the head coach but you don't know the outcome of the game
and you don't know how the opponent did right you're switching your goalies tonight
oh yeah Wedgwood allowed freaking six goals in a playoff game Wedgwood staying in you know what
percent of the time that's a loss it starts with a nine Wallstead who had an unbelievable first
round is out Wedgwood is in for Colorado so for Gustafson Wedgwood tonight here are the
most goals scored combined in a playoff game in NHL history the leading game is the Kings
versus oilers in 1982 it was 10-8 for the kings over edmonton that was the division seven finals
game number one philly and pittsburgh 17 goals in 1989 10-7 pittsburgh i had the right combo
wrong here okay third place is kings oilers in 87 13 to 3 for edmonton also tied for third is
flames kings 12-4 in 1990 and then at 15 goals we have one two three four five six games all tied
there for fourth place and that includes the wild and avalanche game that happened
two nights ago now what do you call so there's the dead puck era what do you call the 80s and
early 90s the grenade puck era like i don't i don't know where it was explosive every night
the goalies don't exist here the goalies are playing with feathers in their pads right right
like it's it's that's the thing like goalies from the 80s will tell you that their pads got heavier
as the game went on because they kept absorbing water from the ice i streamed uh one of the games
in the top 10 the uh edmonton calgary game one oh from uh 20 was that the sports net thing you
that's right well adam technically you were right i was right it does say 10th minnesota avalanche
our 10th is just they're tied with five other games at four so the reason drew says fifth is
he puts them at the top just because um but i think i think it's in order of when it happened
because the fifth place is yeah so they're tied for fifth technically but the nhl views it as
when it when did it happen first okay that's the one that's highest yeah and it makes sense and
it's the fourth highest total right you know so however you want to spin it you can't like you
got it right just a different way yeah but you know drew's gonna put his game at the top they
one uh and that's fair it's it's funny though look how many of them are game ones i know i know
only three uh it was it was really funny because kale mccarr scroll down a little if i were to
take his ice time away from you all right i'm right shut up i'm so right none of these are
what a great point that was so good way to add a boy steve if i were to take if you didn't know
kale mccarr uh uh what happened to him in the first period you'd be like wow he must have played
30 minutes did he you know what he looked like he had two goals and at least two assists he looked
like one of those videos where uh someone sits down on a chair and uh they don't know that um
someone put like uh like uh what the what the hell is that thing in your in your car that the bag
that comes out airbag airbag yeah why did i lose that word that's okay you ever see those videos
of someone sitting down in a chair that has an airbag under it you've never seen that no no i
never have i thought you were going for whoopee cushion no no no no like they sit down in the
chair and they're just like a long day at the office and they freaking explode out of their
chair type of video you've never seen that steve your your corner of the internet is very interesting
and i think i would like to be invited to it at some point it's very e-bombs world very new
grounds like uh the airbag comp yeah world star i don't know those were good world star hip-hop
buying comps were funny no world star there got there was a day where i was just like that's
enough it got a little extreme now that's enough jazzy i put the kale mccarr hit in the uh in the
rundown there so you can see it this i it's so funny because marcus felino i think he catches
kale mccarr on his weak foot one arm one foot in the air and i because when kale mccarr goes
flying here i'm like who was that like you're you're because you're calling the game you're
streaming the game you're like there's no way that's kale mccarr yeah and he explodes off the
ice marcus felipe look at this it's like angels in the outfield it's a really old movie with
christopher lloyd where he helps the cleveland indians stop sucking yeah like uh it's actually
a bunch of angels and they like they'll like uh bend the foul pole fair fair ball and all that
it's like an angel body checked him no it's the california angels not the cleveland indians just
california yeah you're right right because angels in the old i'm an idiot no i'm thinking of the
the other one yeah anyway that's the that's the um uh charlie sheen movie but anyway this is why
we don't record night shows yeah i'm a dumbass right now you're having that's actually insane
we're going live in like this is the mental state i usually have to raise my kids in
right like this is when i get home isn't it funny you do most of your parenting when you're
absolutely exhausted they must think i'm an idiot yeah they're right they might be they might be on
to something five o'clock and onward i'm a dumbass you can't need your full brain capacity for a six
year old oh jesse you can't jesse there is not there's not enough room between you and i for
you to say that to me what does leo know sweet summer child oh man you know what i can't if
you're ever a dad i'm first off i'm a dog dad you are a dog dad but if you're a human dad
um i can't wait i can't can you not wait because i can't wait i can't wait i can't wait first off
we're gonna be the best two uncles ever second there's gonna be some apologies i think especially
for that oh we i still have stuff because when leo was born jesse had this bit where he's like
i'm gonna buy the biggest loudest dumbest toy oh yeah both of us yeah oh yeah yeah i like gifts
i like giving gifts to children great gift uncle if i grow up i want to be santa claus yeah yes
yes oh you're not i thought you wanted to be yesi buoy rv yeah that too okay well multiple lives
according to the tim allen film all you have to do is kill him yeah and then you become santa
so mccarr gets hit here he falls all right he falls on his hip he goes in the outfield and i
was like i was like oh that that can't be that bad no he goes to the dressing room misses most
of the first period he is back at the end of the first period and i think he got a bruise
like i think he's well they they showed during the broadcast um they gave him cream to numb
numb his hip um so it's got to be a bruise oh yeah yeah yeah for sure but it was an unbelievable
game from him after that that's the thing like marcus felino almost gets like friggin
lu kang kicked in the head yeah it's crazy yeah look at that mortal combat it was oh my god oh
my god that's so scary yeah could have been worse i can't believe how did macar get into that
position and then continue to play professional sports yeah like i mean ever again let alone that
night holy shit professional athletes are incredible i guess that's why we watch by the
way macar had two goals in assist after that so stupid davante's had four points
that guy doesn't put up points no wasn't cadre like minus four before he scored that goal yes
To bring his plus minus at least
Respectively to minus three
Reminds me of the Carlisle days
Kadri
Scores up a goal to bring his plus minus
To minus four
Colton, Kadri, and Waugh were all in the minuses
Yeah
Hilarious, hilarious stuff
But his goal was like very consequential
And big
Huge goal
That's why you make that trade
Drew Texas mid-game
He goes Nazem F and Kadri
He wasn't like where was he on those four
yeah four where was he on those four he didn't say that um that's one of the best games i've
ever watched it was amazing crazy crazy stat for you not one minnesota wild player had had more
than one point wow what that's how much depth there was oh felino zuccarello hartman uh johansson
tarasenko and i'm missing crazy and oh sorry excuse me the one person who did
oh you stink my bad you everybody else though and by the way quinn hughes was the only defenseman
with a point what on on on minnesota oh my god it's just quinn he's fucking amazing dude
oh like like i hit i've heard sort of nuts like you watch quinn hughes play and you're like uh
uh whatever you gave up to get him who cares oh he's you should have given up more he's either
one or two in the world well this series i think macar had two goals in this is this not one is
this not a is this not a macar versus hughes series like do we not find out because we to
this point it's been macar yeah but macar though is just so much more useful defensively yes than
quinn hughes that it's hard for me ever to put hughes over him because there's just not enough
there yeah like i'm never going to give that advantage to you those these conversations are
so difficult because any number one defenseman is going to have a crazy playlist of just look
at how shitty they were on this play right and people have been doing that all season for well
bouchard macar because bouchard didn't make the olympic team and quinn hughes why didn't he block
this shot i was seeing just before i came in but at the end of the day like their defense been
playing 25 minutes half an hour a night probably against the top competition exactly right there's
gonna be those mistakes there's gonna be those mistakes yeah but I I don't know I just like
even defensively to Wierenski I'd give the advantage to Quinn Hughes doesn't spend a lot
of time on on shorthanded you know so if we're talking best defenseman in the world it's he's
right there in the top three it's just if we're talking about the margins here it's like when
you're debating like best players of all time like we're not we're not grading you on a curve
like fourth liners this is the little thing so i don't know i'm going mccarr in this series and
overall yeah yeah but it's it's an opportunity to challenge the narrative for quentin hughes
offensively every time he touched the puck uh they were booing him and i was saying man they're
really booing him and people are like no no no when i was streaming it they're like no no no no
they're not booing him they're speaking ghost just fantastic fabulous fans god love the internet
love our streams love the people that come in now tomorrow we get montreal buffalo oh and i just
want to know how you feel steve choo choo it is the choo choo the unforeseeable train series
uh the choo choo series we have a graphic made the unforeseeable train and there's like a train
jumping out in between whoa and it's me before we go back oh you haven't had the chance to talk
about sunday no and game seven well that because we had back-to-back streams i uh streamed a team
winning a game seven with nine shots adam then streamed a game where the winning team had nine
goals it was completely insane um i it's one of the least explainable games i've watched um
listen montreal won those are two of the luckiest goals yeah of the series including the luckiest
goal of the series this the goal that ended tampa bay season was the luckiest flukiest goal of that
series and there was one game where two guys scored with their chest yeah which says how
fluky this was the first one is nick suzuki batting a puck out of air it bounces off the ice
hits uh was it moser moser in the leg and it goes in past vasilevsky like a lot of people like
oh vasilevsky was uh who was beaten by two shots out of nine he wasn't beaten by any neither of
them were a shot from in front of him yeah the new hook goal was just the new hook goal was batted
out of midair from below the goal line hit a skate hit his ass and went in and then the suzuki one
i guess is a shot from in front of them but it bounces off of two different things this puck
that's going a mile wide look where this book is it's heading right straight into the corner
and all of a sudden it hits a man and goes in the back of that puck is like an inch away from
nick suzuki going ah shit because he didn't tip it properly what are you telling me he meant to do
that no chance now i don't think tampa dominated the game quite the way the shot counter said okay
um it was like like usually domination it's one team completely running over the other offensively
yeah right oh you're out shot 40 to 15 or something like that tampa didn't really run it up
like that they didn't have an overwhelmingly dominant offensive performance they just
smothered the shit out of montreal they couldn't get anything through there were a few times you're
like oh here comes a shot i was blocked didn't make it through didn't make it through the best
montreal could do was hold on keep batting away pucks past east west in the uh in the high slot
like they've been doing all series try to limit the rebounds like they've been doing all series
and there were a few times they just needed a save from yakub dobish and they got it and
then scored two of the luckiest goals would you say he's the mvp of the series
if tampa won it would have been hagel oh i can't that save at the end too with the stick
slavkovsky going to the bench like
could have been hagel could have had a fin uh it was dobish i'll tell you the most disappointing
player of the series and this guy's been catching a lot of crap but like people are focusing on the
wrong thing with this player they're always stats in game sevens forget his stat oh you mean true
yeah that's his bag like right now it's like how many times can he send out a tweet about
kucherov's sucking a lot of people have a lot of different reasons to hate nikita kucherov
uh i haven't always liked nikita kucherov but i respect the player that he is which is why i was
so flabbergasted at how awful he was in game seven absolutely flabbergasted mike matheson did such a
good job shutting him down in the series he was stapled to him for a lot of it kucherov probably
had more open ice in game seven than he'd seen all series combined and couldn't connect a pass
the the casual giveaway i want to say was at the offensive blue line he couldn't uh uh he couldn't
pull off a pass he couldn't receive a pass he couldn't do a friggin thing and he wants the puck
with like 30 seconds to go i'm taking the shot brother you stink what are you talking about
i i couldn't i couldn't stats you said they gave seven stats i'll just pull up drew's uh twitter
timeline uh if you want to read it i'll you can do that i've got the stat but whatever i was just
gonna say uh and they confirmed afterwards that there was no major injury for kucherov in that
series like they all spoke to the media and i didn't hear anything about like a sprained ankle
or anything hampering him yeah it was a it was a curious game by him um it's not what i expect
he couldn't connect with his teammates nikita kucherov in game sevens he has played seven game
sevens zero goal zero assists that's insane it's nikita kucherov i know and all tampa won their
cups in in uh five and six i believe yeah well get it done before seven otherwise it was a five
and five you could scratch nikita put somebody else and you have a better shot uh he was he was
terrible like i'm i'm not gonna lean on those numbers because i hadn't heard any of that until
this year yeah he is what we accused mitch marner of oh my god at least had some points and the
difference is he's won individual hardware he's i didn't he win a consmith like he is one of the
most dominant playoff performances we've seen just talking about late series no no i'm not
disrespecting the man's career of course uh and and the two cups right which is man this is when
the best players take over when nick suzuki scored fluky as it was i was like that's about right well
but that's why when we talk about the best players and i know lightning fans feel like they're pushed
to the side and kutcher it's like well who's going to get the who's the best players in the league
it's it's the guys that show up in in those moments connor does it leon does it nathan does
it i i'd love to know what his like forget the the zeros across game sevens this specific game
seven what was his past completion rate well i thought i don't have it at the hand right now he
what go watch go back and watch the final five minutes every time it touches his stick is a
disaster do you think it's nerves what do you think that is uh frustration frustration he's a
he's a very he plays there are days where anger makes him unbeatable and there are days where
anger makes him unplayable and this was one of those games where he did not help the tampa bay
lightning win he didn't hegel i thought had a great game nick paul is a force of friggin nature
holy cow no wonder he killed the leafs in 2022 yep in that game seven yeah there's a game seven
performer the the games where he played versus didn't i'd love to know the montreal stats because
i believe they won both games he was out if i'm not mistaken yep could be wrong that guy is a
force of nature dominic james was so impressive all series long gonsalves was so impressive to me
in game seven they had some really good oh destu was really good they had so many guys give them
so many great performances um point i expected to be a little more effective but like i like the way
he played kucherov was brutal in both cup runs in the victories 20 and 21 he led the league in
points during those playoff runs so you can see all his playoff stats here 34 and 32 points but
no consummate trophy uh that's crazy there but um dude yeah the the chasm between these performances
during their cup runs and then what he's done since the 23 playoffs where he has two goals
total is not pretty in tampa's cup wins combined he had 66 points i'm sorry i'm sorry does anyone
need me to repeat that he had in two cup runs he had 66 points yeah he had 93 points
in all three appearances in the cup final combined
or runs to the cup final the cup final right yeah that's that's one of the greatest playoff
performers of our lifetime but they didn't go to can't get it done in game seven it's it's one of
the most mystifying unjustifiable unexplainable stats uh i can think of now i want to quickly i
do want to switch gears to this series because i just wanted to get a quick and we did a preview
or whatever i just want to get gauge your excitement level i'm thrilled i don't think
this is going to be awesome i hope it goes seven um i don't know why it's starting so damn late
doesn't start until tomorrow um these are arguably i mean i don't even think it's arguable
these are two teams playing with house money and one of them is going to end up in the conference
final you have buffalo who uh in november this seemed impossible and you have montreal who
the worry heading into this first round is you know what's happened with ottawa yep ottawa's
made the playoffs back-to-back years you could argue this year was a step back and now you're
worried about what you are going forward and all of a sudden you have like young leaf syndrome
we're like okay you're there you felt really good about it the first year you lost and
everyone forgave you for it it's fine then you lose again and all of a sudden it's like
okay are we just the team that does that right that could have happened to montreal
you lose to washington that was fine you lose to tampa all of a sudden it's not fine
one of them again is going to end up in the eastern conference final it's so damn fun
montreal had goal had a goalie steal a game or two i don't know if buffalo has lions been good
you gotta get to the net if you're buffalo you montreal was so crazy so crazy at getting rid of
uh the puck in the slot right rasmus doline is going to be the biggest player of this series
because it uh that east west west east pass it's not there it's not there against montreal if if
you can shoot around it and crowd the net that's how you beat montreal now we got a wrap i just
want to quickly mention, quick Canucks update, really quick. Ryan Johnson's still in the mix.
Pierre Dorian's still in the mix. It was reported today by Rick Dollywall that he thinks Dorian is
a candidate, but nobody's been told that they're out. So it's not as strong as reported. And there
was somebody else, and I don't know if it was Rick or somebody else, so I don't want to attribute it
to the wrong person, but apparently the public reaction to Pierre Dorian potentially going there
has made it all the way up to ownership. And they are now worried about hiring Pierre Dorian,
which is kind of funny when it was probably pierre dorian who leaked the fact that pierre dorian
was the guy that was being uh put in there and here's the thing dorian as much as he has a
couple of bad strikes did a pretty good job building the senators and you can't you so he
might actually be a good fit just throwing that out there buddy buddy just look at this one draft
and then we're gonna get we're gonna we're gonna go to life brady jacob bernard docker in the same
draft, and then, ready? Stutzler, Sanderson,
Gregg. Come on! Anyway.
Oh, and another thing! Here's the rest
of the show where
hopefully good things happen.

cancer foundation walk challenge yourself friends and family to walk 21 kilometers in support of
life-saving research together we can carry the fire and help create a world free from the fear
of cancer register today at pmcfwalk.ca this is the first time that i have actually been joined
by jesse and steve because in previous years we didn't give a fuck no uh they're already saying
the wrong information last year we did it live together from sport oh right right steve never
joined us because steve didn't care remember it that's right remember i did oh yeah the
shape for you i couldn't keep up with all of the different things they're just i didn't enjoy it
that's true that's true now listen john buchigross is explaining all that stuff right now while we
do that i do want to talk about the fact that two years ago i did this when i had just began my live
streaming streaming journey and the only reason we did it was because we really wanted to find out
uh uh if kyle dubas and the pittsburgh penguins were going to retain their first pick because he
had made a trade and i can't even remember who the heck it was but there was a top 10 protected
pick the penguins missed the playoffs they weren't expecting to and i believe it was the carlson deal
now that i think about it uh and and then he was on zoom for it and he was like looking down at the
camera and then immediately logged off i was about to say didn't he log off it raged because
kyle runs hot baby he runs hot now jesse blake had this amazing idea to bring up all the merch
that we have so you see us here vancouver it's the the list goes like this okay if you're looking
for it vancouver chicago new york that little toque calgary toronto but uh-oh
oh seattle winnipeg florida san jose nashville st louis new jersey new york islanders columbus
st louis again via detroit and the washington capitals i don't know why i struggled the
washington capitals i almost called the washington capitals you're thinking we got enough here right
we do it's washington columbus islanders and we don't have funnily enough we have merch from
basically every team, except for the Columbus
Blue Jackets, and we don't know why.
We have nothing from the Blue Jackets, so I'm sorry
Columbus fans. You just get a
CBJ. There's the
Blues jersey. There's got to be another Blues one
in here, though, right? We have the other
Blues jersey over there. Oh, yeah.
We have a second Blues jersey. Two Blues ones.
There's so much drafts. We're so good.
We're excited. We're really good.
Jesse, I want
to thank McFarlane Toys for
the toys. I want to thank Fanatics for
the jerseys and i want to thank steve dangle for hanging on to this ollie yokanen from mcdonald's
this is an ollie yokanen finger jersey that i put cardboard in to make sure it stands up right now
you there's also an oilers one because florida and the oilers last couple of years have met in
the stanley cup final so we've been using that's from that's from two years ago oh that's from two
years that's from the first one oh you've been using that for two years but the jury just i've
just left that jersey gotta be 20 years old uh it's pretty old yeah it's pretty old i'm pretty
sure i acquired it in like university acquired acquired it okay now listen uh there's a lot at
stake here for a lot of teams one of the teams that i'm actually in and we can talk about toronto
in a second one of the teams that i'm actually really uh i think has done a great job and
finally made the call to tank calgary flames i think it's great to see them in the top five and
if it can't go to toronto i want it to go to my former city my former residents the calgary flames
who have never once, guys,
had a first overall pick
in their entire history.
That seems impossible.
It does.
And it isn't.
Haven't the Canucks
not had it either?
The Canucks...
Did they not have it?
No, maybe the Canucks
haven't either.
They've done 2-3
with the Sedins.
It seems impossible.
Now, Gary Bettman
and John Bucci Gross
are right at the...
Lottery balls.
At the lottery balls here.
So, you know,
Gary's bringing his charisma.
Gary got a haircut.
Yeah.
He got a haircut for sure.
Yeah.
Riz God.
Dapper.
Gary Bettman.
Oh, and there's
the other Riz God, Bill Daly,
and some other people that we don't know. Those people
are the people from the security company, Alex DeLuca,
Pam Kellner, and
Thomas Meaney, and I think their
job is to be like, this is real,
and we didn't script this.
Thomas Meaney? Nice guy.
Shut up. Graduated from
the school of ironic names. Jesse and Steve,
if it can't be the Leafs that gets the first overall
pick, who do you want it to be?
This team right here, because it would be absolutely
insane. What are they called? San
jose sharks ah remember people are also listening on i don't give a gosh darn the jose's the jose's
jesse wants the canucks i wore my canucks hoodie today because i'm rooting for the canucks if it's
not the least because i think the worst team deserves the first overall pick so there's team
michael buble built brick by brick gary's got balls so many balls in his hand and the balls
are going in gary ballman gary ballman that's right balls everybody we love balls um now the
Balls are going in and they're going to go in the in that air thing, that aero chamber, whatever the hell that is.
Can you give us the percentages?
Percentages are interesting.
OK, because the percentages are Vancouver at 18.5 percent, Chicago at 13.5 percent, New York Rangers at 11.5 percent, Calgary at 9.5, Toronto 8.5, Seattle 7.5, Winnipeg 6.5, Florida 6, San Jose 5, Nashville 3.5, St.
Louis, 3%. New Jersey, 2.5%. Islanders, if they got it again, would be 2%. Columbus, 1.5%. And
St. Louis via Detroit and Washington at 0.5%. You know what's so interesting about this is that,
remember, the Islanders had the 10th best odds last year and jumped to number one. It can and
has happened. And of course, they're going to commercial as soon as they're calling the balls
here. Are we going to miss their first lottery? Oh, my goodness. No, we're learning about
dominoes you guys know the nor the lore of uh yokich and how he was drafted during a taco bell
commercial yes this is what this is what it's gonna be this is what somebody's gonna get the
first overall pick during a dominoes commercial i want to shut up michael amato if you are a leafs
fan because we have a lot of leaf fans on this channel uh if you want the leafs to keep their
pick tonight the simplest way to look at it is you're hoping vancouver chicago new york calgary
toronto or washington wins the lottery jesse you were saying on the podcast and by the way there
is a new steve dangle podcast coming up later tonight uh that we just recorded jesse you're
telling us you're okay with them not getting the pick not because you want to sink john shaker
but because it's come out that if the leafs win tonight that philadelphia pick they sent to
philadelphia in 2027 for scott lawton will not be 10 top 10 protected anymore if the leafs win
tonight yeah there's a doomsday scenario where the leafs get the uh top pick and pick in the top
five tonight and then next season and the year after they have unprotected first round picks
and they are still terrible and they end up giving over the first overall first overall pick to
either boston or philadelphia so you don't want that if they don't get the pick tonight and they
have to hand it over to boston it's not the a crime against humanity okay you know there is
some positive in it all right all right so i had a good spins for least fans out there because
it has been a rough 48 hours curthy betman asks who's gonna be this year's tingus pingus jesse
what does that mean was it the new york guy remember christopher zingas yeah who's this
i've never heard of lativia
i've never heard of there is a latvian kid who's supposed to go very high
yes yes and i have heard of lativia so don't you worry
i wonder would he be the highest born or highest picked latvian born player
oh time are they making a pick next oh here we go okay balls balls balls balls balls balls
balls balls balls balls it's our hand it's our first one number two seven it's number seven you
idiot sorry it's a seven upside down does what does that mean i don't know we're about to find
out who won the draw oh no we need four balls oh so the percentage has changed so toronto went down
point one percent vancouver's odds increase yes 19 yeah that's good and rangers must have gone up
all right next ball they're at 11.9 now seattle's at 9.1 florida's it's florida's gonna win it you
think so yeah it would be i said that i said that weeks and weeks maybe even months ago all right i
think florida's gonna win it that makes that's a two that's a two we got one that's what does that
mean toronto's odds just got so st louis and washington can't do it toronto at four and a
half percent louis and washington have been eliminated they are going to pick 15th and 16th
Seattle at 18.2.
Oh, St. Louis is creeping.
The other St. Louis pick.
The other, yeah.
10 seconds to the next ball in your hand.
Balls.
Balls.
Balls.
Balls.
Balls.
Balls.
Balls.
Balls.
Balls.
Balls.
Balls.
Balls.
Balls.
Balls.
Balls.
Balls.
Balls.
Balls.
Balls.
Here we go.
Okay.
That looks like an 11.
And it is an 11.
An 11.
What does that mean?
That's an 11.
Uh-oh.
I still don't know what it is.
Oh!
Look at all the eliminations.
It's Nashville, St. Louis, New Jersey, New York Islanders, and Columbus, all gone.
Both St. Louis.
And Florida's out.
Florida is now out all.
That would have been a funny outcome.
They can win the next draw, though, right?
Leafs odds are back up again.
To 9.1.
Okay.
Even with Winnipeg, Seattle, and Calgary.
I don't understand the lottery process.
Oh, and St. Louis.
Sorry, St. Louis.
I don't know what's going on here.
I'm just reading what's on the screen.
Yeah.
I don't know.
This is way better.
I don't know.
Isn't that, you know what?
It's better, isn't it?
Yeah.
It's like seeing a movie for the first time.
honestly this is good look at matt sundin looking down and she's like hello i'm matt's that's first
day on the job that's yeah you're right you're right he just got it okay final ball needs adam
pay attention nice to be number 12 this is like school we need this is great okay now we need oh
my goodness do we need 12 is that what that's dirty dozen dirty dozen well they win the lottery
look they got the come on they should keep up that screen on the side that was the best thing
they've done all night oh no what what the ball no no they're not gonna pick the balls out they're
not gonna pick but they're just gonna leave it going they're just gonna leave it have that screen
along the bottom they should like what you ball your team needs just so we know yeah that's a good
point jazz oh look there's john but also he didn't cut the little things on the back of the flare of
his john boochy ass john's butt is gross right in front of the screen sorry i'm a former child
i'm a recovering child oh man all right get you off my screen
well i need to know so oh my god uh somebody said john booty gross
Oh, it was right there.
Booty gross.
It was right there.
We missed it.
So Toronto needs a 9 or a 14?
Is that what it is?
No, we need a 12.
We need a 12.
We need a 12.

yo oh i i yeah the you know the comments are going nuts okay so like what okay holy crap all right
So how do we overthink this and McKenna?
It's got to be McKenna, right?
You take Gavin McKenna.
Austin and Gavin on the same line?
This changes everything.
This does change everything.
I think Austin Matthews stays now.
Well, okay.
So let's think about this.
Where were the Leafs when they got Austin Matthews?
In a pretty sad sack place.
They sure were.
They did have a couple of good prospects.
They did.
Which we did not have this time.
I mean,
Eastern Cowan,
I guess it's not a prospect anymore.
Danford's a prospect.
No,
but like,
well,
you had,
you had Mitch Marner who was a fourth overall pick.
That's a big deal.
Big deal.
Big deal.
Big deal.
William Nylander,
who was the eighth overall pick.
That was a pretty big deal.
Big deal.
This is stepping into a different situation where we know the Leafs aren't as bad as they were at the end of the season.
Yeah.
but we don't know how close they are or can be to what they were the season before right season
before there was probably a lot of luck happening there right there were a lot of nights where they
got outplayed they were gritty they had a pretty high shooting percentage they got a lot of saves
that was a big thing that propped the leafs up right what are they right now what does the first
overall pick i imagine gavin mckenna yeah make them and what moves do they then make well like
there are a lot of people who over the last 24 hours have probably been like i'm never going to
toronto and now it's like wow well there's now well this is the thing here's here's the thing
for brad shirlevy's got to be like god damn it because he couldn't replace dude it's like
Craig McTavish with McDavid?
Yes.
Hey, but the difference is he was there
and was there when the lottery ball fell.
Hooray, we got Connor and then got gassed.
Yeah, now, so here's the thing.
The biggest issue the Leafs had this season
was being unable to replace Mitch Marner, right?
And now you've got a potential generational talent
on the table.
Now, is he going to be the best player in the league to start?
Nobody is.
nobody is no but if it's gavin mckenna which i think it probably will be guys um that's a great
place to start yeah yeah it is jesse i'm having a hard time caring about the rest of the draft
um because oh yeah because we still have to find out what everybody else does
yeah that's right there's 15 other teams that got to be placed in positions here but
i agree with you that it's it's it changes everything in terms of like where the leafs
quote rebuild or retool is because you have a core piece now well yeah look at the islanders
plunk look yeah look what shaper did yeah like like they went from oh we think they're going
to be a bonafide or two buying at the trade trade and it didn't work out for them still
in the lottery but i think everybody's very positive on what the islanders are yeah um
maddie wants to say so what do you want vancouver fans are just ripping us in the chat well it's
It's not our fault.
We didn't make the call.
I don't know.
No, no, no.
I understand why Canucks
are not.
Not ripping you guys.
They're just talking about Toronto.
Oh, that's fine.
It's Toronto.
But you know, here's the deal.
I do feel a little bit bad for them.
Well, they went through
the worst season ever
and then didn't get the pick.
And I get that.
Here it is.
So they got to get second here.
Now, which one did I win?
I wore my Canucks shirt
for a reason, guys.
I'm cheering for you out there.
So number 11.
I don't know what that means.
So this is a new lottery, I believe.
Yes, it is.
Okay, Washington's out.
So this is so much better than last year, the way they did it.
This is the way going forward.
Yes.
And because the Leafs won.
Yeah.
That's the way you should do it every time.
They should continue that every year.
Yeah, this should be a tradition.
Why do the Leafs have a 9.8% chance?
By the way, congratulations to Philadelphia,
who now have an unprotected first-round pick from the Leafs next year.
Oh.
Okay.
But hey, we got McKenna, dog.
McKenna.
And we still own our, oh, rather, Boston.
Yeah.
Yeah.
28.
28.
But we have a first-round pick next year via Colorado.
Thank you, Nick Waugh.
Florida's eliminated.
St. Louis is eliminated.
Washington's eliminated.
I'm confused.
Should the Leafs not be eliminated?
What are you talking about?
Well, they can't win both lotteries.
No, I think they're in it for the percentages.
Yes.
So even if they won it, it would go to the next team.
Yes.
You have to keep the percentages the same, right?
You can't pull them out of it.
Adam's correct.
And actually, look at the Leafs.
They're at 15.2 now.
Yeah, they're doing great.
This is their night.
This is their night.
Yo, what if they won?
this has been the wildest 48 hours as least fit i yeah yeah this has been i'm exhausted my first
thought was oh i gotta make a video yeah holy you do i want a 30 minute breakdown on just like
what the hell yo yo they literally have the highest odds what the fuck what is this crazy
there's no chance right and also what would it matter it doesn't it i guess it matters for
vancouver because then they'd get it yeah oh vancouver actually has really high odds
three chances to win 210 what so wait does that mean the canucks have five balls then
yes yeah yeah so let me let me put this out there steve yeah was it rigged uh no
i'm not i'm not under the impression the league is stoked about john jacob being the gm here
and i think gary batman is furious yeah john shaker is probably in like just at home i hope
he's watching at home going ha ha ha oh you suspended me but this is this is what you get
gare bear yeah attaboy gare dude the leafs one oh it's seven oh sorry no way hold on no way does
that mean they get the second overall pick yes i think so yeah crazy lottery because san jose
moved up from like 10 didn't they they don't need this san jose moved up from nine we literally did
a meet and greet in that room san jose congratulations congratulations to the sharks
big congrats joining
Shurnishov friggin
Celebrini Will Smith
they're gonna yeah Misa
Misa they're gonna have to
yeah Eklund they're gonna have to draft a defense
oh
you know what whatever
hold on Vancouver still gonna get an
incredible player I know they're disappointed
I get it yeah but they're gonna get an
incredible player I don't know I have to
think positively for our
this is truly the Steve Dango podcast
Draft lottery.
The Leafs won and the Sharks won.
Are you kidding me?
Yeah, seriously.
I don't think it could have got better for us.
This is so confusing.
The world is crazy tonight.
Listen, I'm not going to lie to you.
It was a devastating year.
It was really, really tough.
This is cool.
Hey, you know, why does Mike Greer look so upset?
No, he's not upset.
He's been here before.
Act like you've been here.
He's been here for five years.
They were trying to make the playoffs.
They almost made the playoffs.
Where's Carlton, Adam?
uh there he is oh i'm sorry oh that's too bad i'm at one oh that's too bad blades oh i'm sorry
blades sorry that's the bruins mascot for anybody oh man okay now chat tell us something what do
you want to know how are we feeling uh people are saying vancouver got shafted suck it boo blade
oh i'm literally here what do you want to say to my good boy uh are you texting him now
uh uh clayman said sdpn rigged the lottery but honestly based screw this league hey man
we're streaming right now and i just want to say
also i'm sorry i'm so sorry always sorry i'm sorry now vancouver's gonna get a good player
now we need to find out who so it's chicago next at number four chicago's been here for
the new york rangers at number five and remember going into this it was vancouver chicago new york
calgary toronto calgary falling to six again this is a team that just like they did everything right
to tank they tanked ethically because they did still try they just couldn't score ethical tank
um and the previous year they missed the playoffs by a point i was saying going into this i hope
the flames get it because they've never got it but i'm sorry i'm gonna be selfish i'm okay with
the outcome florida picking nine for a team that is probably still a cup contender is crazy yeah
the blues having 11 and 15 i wouldn't be shocked to see them move up uh or you just pick an 11th
and 15th overall pick which is nuts yeah yeah there's gonna be a lot of movement here the
islanders having 13th overall after the season they had like there are fewer bad teams than
there used to be right like winnipeg's straight up good still and they're picking eighth overall
Florida straight up good
Nashville almost made the playoffs
yeah
New Jersey I don't know
we think they're good they change month to month
I don't know we think they're good but they just keep
showing us that like well we
can be bad though yeah like I know I know
New Jersey's better than this I know they're better
than this they have to make
the playoffs you sound disappointed what in New Jersey
yeah like you know you're I think
they are better than this they've got a lot of talent on
that roster it's kind of weird how that's I'm excited to see what
Sonny Mehta does this summer
because I think there's going to be some action in New Jersey.
Yeah, they have a lot better management now.
Tom Fitzgerald was a tire fire.
By the end of it, it's a disaster.
I'm very happy that they got a good GM.
And you know what's cool about that?
He's going to Nashville, likely.
So it'll be very interesting to see where they end up next year.
That's the end of the program.
That is it.
The program is over.
And I, by the way, have to stream in about half an hour
for the Colorado-Minnesota game.
So that's going to happen soon.
We've got to get you over to that.
