You gotta try breakfast at A&W At participating A&W locations in Ontario. Spaghetti all right so uh i just want to shout out everybody who has jumped on the movember experience um i've gone up uh from like 300 a couple days ago to 1900 wow 1900 yeah are you sure that's what it's
Starting point is 00:02:42 Oh, now it's a $2,000. Yeah. From Steve to Angle Glenn, everybody. Well done, Steve. But people are leaving me little love notes. Oh. It's nice because like some people are saying. Oh, I forgot.
Starting point is 00:02:52 Damn it. Yeah, you didn't write anything. Damn it. I guess I'll have to donate again. A lot of people. I guess so. Nice mustache. Where'd you get it?
Starting point is 00:03:00 The toilet store? Somebody was, they, you know, did the copy what Jesse told him to do. It said balls. Yes, that's the best one. Todd from Utica said, hey, it's the home of Canada's women's 2023 gold in the world championships. That's Todd said hello. That's where I'm from.
Starting point is 00:03:17 That's so random. I was like, wow, that is very nice of you. From Hannah, let's go Leafs and let's go men's health. Let's go Leafs. Hannah, the rock, what's her last name? You don't need to give out their name. I'm not going to give it. I think it's fine.
Starting point is 00:03:34 Hannah, the rock, Montana. I think it's fine. James, keep the duster. Really go 70s on it. Balls. Somebody put $10.93 because Doug Gilmore is my favorite player. And so here's what Danny did. This is Danny who did this.
Starting point is 00:03:51 And I think this is really smart. If you include a question in your message to me through Movember, I have to answer it. Oh, you have to? I have to. So way too early cup finals prediction. Mine is Dallas and Carolina. Guys, let's give Danny ours.
Starting point is 00:04:07 the Leafs versus the Marlies at this rate? Well, the Leafs or the Marlies at this rate. I still don't want to be a coward. I got Oilers. Oh, it's snowing behind me. Look at that. Jesse, you put a lot of work into this. I like it.
Starting point is 00:04:24 We're not done. More surprises coming. I love just having a hot cup of coffee. A cup of cocoa? People listening don't know what you're talking about. I'm having a hot cup of coffee because behind us, we have a we have an sdpn camera or a monitor you see and the monitor has sdpn.ca on it but it's got snow so i'm having a nice cup of cocoa uh we were talking about our stanley cup prediction
Starting point is 00:04:46 we got to update all the christmas songs baby it's warm outside um i go oilers we're all gonna die it's fine oilers and um i mean i still is it recency bias to immediately go to what last year's cup final was no not at all it's kind of makes sense your pick it's happened a couple times recently i'm gonna say oilers panthers uh jesse thoughts way too early rangers golden knights who i like that damn yeah i'm gonna go dallas in the west and i never met against my hometown toronto maple leafs and it always serves me well didn't he say no or was that his pick dallas carolina dallas carolina was his oh i thought he said excluding dallas carolina yeah and and jeremy jeremy donated 250 dollars whoa he said i'm a canadians fan in san jose i enjoy
Starting point is 00:05:36 your content and the fact that you do talk about habs and that you guys seem pretty fair uh hopefully we get to watch a habs game on the stream enjoyed that although i guess we have to make the playoffs first oh no no we do do streams so wait what are you doing uh 250 you didn't feel like rounding up to 300 cheap prick wow yeah that's also 30 cents american let's wow i know so i thank you jeremy officially say if you donate to adam's november page you're choosing to ride along with adam's mustache someone would even ride his mustache hashtag adam's mustache ride yeah yeah and you know what by the way uh uh uh we are 500 away from our goal of 2500 bucks and everybody out there i want you to choose to ride adam's mustache that is a weird way to start the show i'm riding
Starting point is 00:06:29 adam's mustache are you get involved ball ride the mustache now i'm gonna i'm because of uh because steve decided not to show up on time today oh i'm actually gonna stab you steve had a really bad time on the way in so naturally the first thing i would do as tyrant of toronto is uh rip up all your licenses we have to nope start over we have to blame steve so i'm going to just quickly run through the Leafs stuff because this show is coming out essentially when the Leafs take the ice. So I will be doing the stream tonight for Vegas.
Starting point is 00:07:00 The who takes it? The Leafs take the ice? No, try again. The Marlies take the ice. There you go. The Bankin is up. He had a really strong camp. Minton is up. He's had a really strong start. Both guys are guys that True Living has acknowledged. A, we prefer that they're not up here, but we don't really have a choice.
Starting point is 00:07:16 Domi is on IRS this morning. Holmberg is moving to center. Don't be surprised if you see a little bit of Mitch Marner at center. and Ilya Samsonov, it's looking like, will not start the game. Oh, boo! Aiden Hill will start it. Samsonov had a good start to the season,
Starting point is 00:07:32 and then he was awful, and then he got injured. He was injured for five games, and they didn't really say what he was injured with. Then he came back, and then now he's going to be out. That's the Samsonov experience. Yeah, it feels like it's been Ilya Samsonov time,
Starting point is 00:07:47 and he's been just playing the hits. What kind of goalie is he? Oh, for sure. so is the best answer i can give you so here absolutely here's a little more insight as to why ilia samson off is probably not starting tonight and i wondered this and he just confirmed it via luke fox eight minutes ago i thought about this i'm like who are the vegas golden knights playing next if they're playing toronto in toronto uh-huh sense and who is ilia samson off super pissed at i i thought toronto lenis olmark because lenis olmark was on a podcast
Starting point is 00:08:22 uh earlier this summer and said we were kind of surprised toronto kept starting him because we knew our chances were way better with him and then that and ilia put a comment on instagram going like we'll see you this season and then he deleted it on how's lenis's season so luke fox real good is it real good it's not real real good uh luke fox says a smiling ilia samson off went uh told it's too bad he's not playing in toronto tonight and by the way the reporters love him uh he said no no no no tomorrow against all mark my guy there it is so there it is that's more of a how about that a that's more of a revenge game than the leafs who said hey no you know we're gone now i mean they did everything they could for him yeah they wrote him for a while
Starting point is 00:09:06 they began the playoffs with him he started game seven damn it you know i and they gave him millions of dollars i forgot that part yep um i yeah no he should be more mad at all mark beat him yeah well also it's uh the first half of a back-to-back and you don't play those so here's all mark yeah yeah ilia also played against the capitals was it last two nights ago so it this isn't like his game yeah the trot it makes so much sense when you just lay it out he played against the caps and then that's kind of the revenge game you're you're off you give the starter the toronto game then the second half is your game so who is it aiden hill yeah it's aiden yeah yeah we did a um i'm gonna move on from the leafs because we've we talked about the lineup
Starting point is 00:09:50 changes whatever we'll see what grabenkin does we'll see what minton does but i don't want to go too deep because we got a game literally immediately i know upon the release of this so oh and i was gonna suggest oh why don't they go 11-7 and hawk and paws resting so nope yeah that's off the table too some guy named benoit is back in never heard of him simon benoit um i want to get to the fallout of jim montgomery being fired as was rumored during our show yesterday damn it uh and frank servali is going to kick off the segment with a stat uh that is pretty wild in 184 games the bruins lost just 41 times in regulation under jim montgomery he was 120 41 and 23 with a 7.15 sorry 0.715 points percentage um that is bonkers and i think there are a lot
Starting point is 00:10:43 of teams getting ready to fire their head coach and hire jim montgomery uh yeah uh detroit maybe one of them and that's probably it's time um you don't like grew i i think i don't like i don't like I also don't like Gru's I didn't think he was great on TV either when Sportsnet had him on this thing but he sounds like a very nice
Starting point is 00:11:05 guy I forgot he was during the playoffs yeah the Sportsnet panel yeah he was oh I remember watching him going okay guys no Tampa right so it's not about being good on TV
Starting point is 00:11:15 it's just about you're you're in the league so you can talk whoa whoa whoa I listen no I expect said something interesting and he got shit for it well that's cool I like that that
Starting point is 00:11:25 that's great but yeah Like, I wanted Lalonde to be better. Damn. There, I said it. So did Red Wings fans. But I'm sure, yeah. You can't get everything that you want. How many regulation wins did Jim Montgomery have?
Starting point is 00:11:38 120. No, no, sorry. Losses. Sorry. 41. Nine of them were this season in 20 games. That's crazy. The Bruins.
Starting point is 00:11:48 Dude, it's not fair. Came into this season with just over 30 regulation losses over a couple of years. That's crazy. Coaching is not fair. They almost fired him last year. Berube said he found it very upsetting. I mean, what else can you do? Now, it's exactly the discussion we had yesterday.
Starting point is 00:12:10 It's not 100% the 32 best coaches in the world are the 32 coaches right now. It's just not how it works. No. Now, underneath Frank Cervalli's tweet from ComingInHotSends, they said, that's a fireable offense. now i say is it a fireable offense or is it fireable offense because let's be honest that's what's killing them beyond you know jeremy swayman not having it fully together and him and all mark i think are close to each other in save percentage which is like 41 and 42 in the league oh they're
Starting point is 00:12:41 close to each other in save percentage yeah no one's surprised by that it's what yeah that's the surprising it's what it starts with an eight um everybody including bruins media which this is the most surprising part because they are raw raw bruins as you know local local media should be um are saying uh yeah this is probably it's for sweeney at the end of the year really and that's the that's the part that's fascinating to me now cam neely you can't that's hallowed ground he's a god in boston but don't but don sweeney has done some interesting crazy things as general manager of of this team he's had some serious home runs some serious misses um and people are wondering if it's not time you know they did put 18 million
Starting point is 00:13:26 dollars into two guys this who cannot score but it it's the shanahan conversation that we keep having like all right yeah sweeney's gonna take the fall it wasn't cam there the whole time yes weren't you with him weren't you looking over his shoulder weren't you in bruce cassidy's living room also how many bullets you got left you gassed cassidy won a cup immediately this guy comes in win 75 of his games gas him replacing him with who exactly yeah uh like did sacco and sweeney play together that's probably my assumption sacco last coached the the abs in 2012 2013 uh and has been nipping around for jobs there he's been in contention for a lot of jobs apparently he's an ass kicker coach and montgomery is more of an x and o x's and o's coach guys so so he's
Starting point is 00:14:17 a motivator yeah okay he's a motivator through a threat um listen i refuse to write the bruins off i do too i refuse listen here's why it's so hard to write them off last year on paper their team was so very very very obviously flawed and to me so very obviously not as good as the year before they had a better start they won like their first 10 games or something stupid they had home ice advantage through the first round of the playoffs they won a round uh which the previous year's team had not done you got to play the leafs though that's not fair uh and now this year they're still not very impressive on paper they're not no they're not impressive on paper but why would i bet against them they're the bruins i've learned my lesson
Starting point is 00:15:16 i've taken my lumps steve look at all the evidence in front of uh no nope not opening that door again been bitten too many times if they win 30 or the next 40 games who's shocked and joe sacco all the sudden takes the uh coach of the year trophy away from spencer carberry uh well he's got to be careful oh yeah yeah he wins the jack adams you're gonna be out of a job there joe all three of the last uh what is it until 2023 2022 and 2021 all three of those guys are now fired uh i believe it's it's montgomery hackstall and the other guy yeah whatever wasn't it bednar did bednar is it bednar i'll find out uh isn't there a coach's union like why do they keep firing these guys daryl sutter won it in 2022 the oh wow the thing i i keep seeing people talk about the jack adams uh
Starting point is 00:16:09 jim montgomery won the jack adams and all these coaches won the jack adams does nobody realize that it's a regular season award and that yeah this is a results business and the correct thing to do here was to fire jim montgomery and the correct thing to probably do is also fire don sweeney but that's something that's got to happen at least a little longer down the line because i don't think you probably fire gm right now but jim montgomery won the jack adams in 2023 right we are all referencing that and he had a crazy 135 points you know set the all-time record and then they lost yeah yep it's this humiliating fashion in the worst way possible this is a results business and isn't this what we ask of our favorite team yeah for when you don't perform up to the standard
Starting point is 00:16:56 there are then consequences you saying ah you know daryl sutter won the jackhams what happened after all of that in between and during the seasons it's a regular season where their president's trophy that year and setting the all-time points record is completely meaningless it means absolutely nothing to to anybody in boston so yeah he probably deserves to be fired for losing that series when you're up in the series and then last season almost choking it to the team that can't help themselves but choke and then flaming out because you weren't good enough uh in the second round either but then you come this season you get off to a poor start and all you start doing is calling out your players every single week he's calling out a new player
Starting point is 00:17:37 he keeps benching them clearly something is not getting through to the players if the gm feels that he's put together a sufficient roster so now it's on the gm who doesn't have any more bullets to fire so now we're talking about the president looking at the gm maybe it's the roster's fault this is the normal progression of pro sports and how management works so why are people shocked that he won the jack adams and is fired i was texting with a pro hockey player yesterday and he was just like what a league sheldon keith was the coach of the leaves for like half a decade and montgomery gets like half that yeah because they have a standard yeah the standard the bruins the standard in toronto is you get as many kicks at the can as you want it's and then we'll
Starting point is 00:18:17 bring in a guy and then he'll get some kicks and he'll be like i just got here there's i just got here there's there's uh listen there aren't many great simpsons bits left but one of the best is bart simpson is playing with the canadian national men's uh basketball team yes and this is like before steve nash oh yeah they were horrible they were dreadful for a number of years and he takes a shot and he misses but it hits the rim and one of the players on the team goes wow that was close you can play center and to me isn't that the leafs wow that was close you could be our coach for half a decade yeah and the bruins just have a different standard than that um yeah 120 wins it's pretty cool how'd you do in the playoffs oh you lost two out of three series beat it exactly
Starting point is 00:19:07 pack your shit they're not in the middle of a rebuild their their gm thinks they should be contending they should be contending for a stanley cup and if he feels that the players are there to do that and the guy is in the wrong position he's not getting out of the players then yeah of course he's gonna get fired but now we need to start looking at the gm because maybe he also put together a bad roster well but that's something we got to see how the season unfolds to discover that one of the things that makes you look really smart as a gm is when you fire a coach and then the guy you bring in kills it it does a great job if joe sacco doesn't kill it there's no justification for bringing Sweeney back and it might be a similar conversation with Cam Neely like okay
Starting point is 00:19:48 we got a standard right fellas we're like we just established that okay how long have these guys been here how much stuff have they done what's it added up to that's that's all I'm saying that's all I'm saying I I they use their bullet on Cassidy he goes and wins a cup they bring in montgomery that's their guy top to bottom start to finish and they get to make the decision to gas them that's your last bullet that's all you get 100 it has to be as and you're lucky you're getting that yeah i think we're seeing too how hard it is to replace a guy like patrice bergeron oh yeah you think like like you know if if you need any more insight into how good patrice bergeron is or was look at what's happened they didn't have them last year they didn't but you
Starting point is 00:20:41 know last year i think there were questions yeah last year there were questions and it's funny that there was considering how great they were the season before there were questions because of how they lost to florida and then there were even more questions when they almost gave up the 3-1 lead to toronto well they did give up the 3-1 lead to toronto they just happened to win game tied in overtime we could have ended we could have ended the bruins right there but we you could say that a lot of times yeah i mean but no we couldn't i keep saying it i keep saying it with brock besser in game seven of the oilers series like what if the canucks had him uh what if the leaves had wool i know son of a gun i know son of a gun you never know yeah there's only two
Starting point is 00:21:23 one so yeah so that uh the the fall it's been interesting and i i obviously will see what happens with the joe sacco sacco excuse me boston bruins i'm gonna miss mess that up a million times yes now until you should have to change his name yeah that's not fair there's a guy who has a similar name and he's like too good i'm pretty sure he played for the blood did he not joe sacco was a former leaf yes he is yeah i remember that i remember him with the avalanche he played for he coached the avalanche but he uh played for the leafs and the uh saint john's maple leafs when that was a thing and then he played for the ducks in the early 90s the islanders the capitals and finished off his career with the philadelphia flyers and i i know this because i got his
Starting point is 00:22:01 his hockey card constantly i don't know why but i was like a joe sacco magnet when it came to my blockbuster this is how long ago this was when i used to get my my friday friday night movie rental and hockey cards dude from blockbuster so we've done this bit before on the show like americans don't understand how big of a part of everything hockey is up here yeah remember i was like hey sydney crosby has bread commercials do americans know about that and they were like what and then we showed them the dempster's bread commercial of crosby making himself a sandwich hockey cards used to come in blockbuster boxes craft dinner boxes which i think is the most canadian thing ever and do you remember the cards that came in boxes of fish sticks
Starting point is 00:22:47 i never was allowed to eat fish sticks that was a bridge too far from my family why was that a bridge too far i don't know i don't know oh they probably were worried about mercury in the ocean or something i don't know you should have been in my house of neglect because it was a great time having fish sticks and hockey cards don sweeney said uh just a few minutes ago that the team entered into contract extension talks with jim montgomery couldn't reach a deal then had to make a decision when the team performance reared its ugly head after 20 games he says the players are not where they need to be we're either going to get back there or there will be continued changes across the board didn't want to pay a guy huh yeah how very boston and and listen he's got
Starting point is 00:23:29 whatever money jim's jim's smart whatever money he was going to make in boston he'll probably make more somewhere else i think there's a lot oh yeah did his reputation take a hit well i'm just going to say i think there'd be a lot of people who would love to have the winning a single season coach in NHL history he will always have that until someone beats him that record's dumb like it's so it's a crazy record dude uh and like oh yeah but the playoffs look how fast Sheldon Keefe got scooped up he that guy was out of a job for what four days yeah come on no Monty's he might be a coach this season oh I think so yeah if he wants to be uh yeah well so it's a uh um Don Sweeney's contract's got to be coming to an end here soon, too, right?
Starting point is 00:24:14 Because he signed an extension in 2022, but it was just announced as a multi-year extension, not the exact amount of years. But I would assume if it's three years, if it's the three-year multi-year, then it's probably coming to an end at the end of this season. I'm not sure. Could be, Jess. And you know what? Even if it's not, it would be next season, and then you're paying him for a year.
Starting point is 00:24:35 So I'm trying to forecast. It's not too difficult to fire him, is what I was trying to get to. Even if it was three or four years, you've got to pay only out one year, which isn't too bad if you're Jeremy Jacobs' son. And so, you know, it's interesting. Subtle, Jesse. Thank you. I'm going to be curious to see what this management group does because I agree with you guys. I think that this is completely, this is now Don Sweeney's. You're now earning your extension.
Starting point is 00:25:05 and i look at the roster and uh lindholm hampus is out but lindholm elias or elias no you get mad people get mad at you when you say you know anything other than elias petterson right so i say you know look out there i got it yeah that's why i'm making a joke yeah my point is just say his number who are you gonna trade who are you gonna trade what are you gonna do you got next to no prospects it's not they're not a loaded system no adam they're not trading anyone no no they are no the new coach is gonna come in because you just got here and and he just got here and he's gonna be great because don sweeney built a perfect team there it is i am wondering you might not be wrong i i know that's the crazy that's the stupid thing about the
Starting point is 00:25:54 if this gets clipped in a couple months i'll be like what i meant it i don't know what kind of roster lines the sacco is going to put together so it's a little difficult when you look at puck pedia's lineups but i love their lineups page it's so good um zaka setting up past her neck is interesting okay is is zaka the guy that's going to get 50 assists setting past up because not going to be lynn home charlie coil is a why is it going to be lynn home lynn home played on a line with 440 goal scores or no that would be i think if you've played with 340 i think if you've watched him in the last couple of years you'll notice that he's not that player well goddamn then why'd you give him all that money well and this is where the general
Starting point is 00:26:37 manager needs to work his magic what are you gonna do huh is that monty what do you mean no that's not no that would be don sweeney yeah isn't that crazy that's funny you should point that out just everything kind of leads back to that one yeah that's crazy isn't it oh yeah hey man you know would be crazy you'd probably still have a really good head coach if you hadn't gone to war with your starting goaltender over 300 grand and having missed the entire camp right there's 300 grand a year and there's montgomery did that right no no actually it was don oh i don't have you guys you probably don't know that but no way monty didn't do that deal it was done oh oh i was confused yeah yeah i just feel like there's a conclusion to be taken from this but i can't
Starting point is 00:27:20 I can't put my finger on it. How about this? You gave Nikita Zdorov $5 million. Jim did. Well, you gave him $5 million. $5? Well, $30 million over six years. And he's on your bottom pair.
Starting point is 00:27:35 He's making $5 million on your bottom pair. Yeah, and Jim was in charge of giving him the money. So that's why he's on the third pair. Jim may have been pro this deal, but he did not sign the contract, nor did he negotiate it. Yeah, so maybe it's the guy who signed the deal and then now he's on the third pair. So maybe the deal wasn't that good. And then there's this.
Starting point is 00:27:54 Wyshynski just tweeted that he doesn't believe that the negotiations between Boston and Montgomery were ever in good faith on Boston's side. He thinks that Montgomery was a guy that they were already looking at in this position as a lame duck coach to start anyway. Oh, wow. Well, always a great way to go into the season.
Starting point is 00:28:13 you know if that's if that's your expectation right like if you're not engaging and and that's speculation at this point i don't know that greg sourced maybe i'm sure he's speaking from some sort of knowledge on this oh oh oh oh i think you're confused as to what i'm questioning no i'm trying to say that for anybody listening that i ought to pick that up yeah uh it if that was your expectation going into this year then my question to you would be why are you upset that they're not winning if your expectation was we'll probably have to fire the head coach why are you upset that they're not winning you expected them not to why do pro sports teams so regularly do things that hurt their chances of winning on purpose
Starting point is 00:28:57 is that not what this is oh yeah we're gonna go into the season with a lame duck coach why is that what good teams smart teams do it is is that usually not okay so why'd you do it I pay you to win, and you did that headassery. I'm sorry. Pardon? Mm-hmm. You know what?
Starting point is 00:29:23 The Bruins can't get away with this. We can't. No. They will. We can't allow this. They will, though. Joe Sacco, you are not allowed to win 75% of the next 40 games. You're not allowed. They're going to win a lot of games. Should we all change our cup picks to the Boston Bruins?
Starting point is 00:29:39 I think maybe. That might be the smart thing. Oilers-Bruins. Oilers-Bruins. I changed my mind. Sorry to the Panthers. Oilers-Bruins. Oilers-Bruins. And I am being dead serious.
Starting point is 00:29:50 This is not a bit. Well, who are they going to add? No one. They're going to sell. Probably get a couple second round picks. And go nearly undefeated the rest of the way. Yeah. It's the Bruins.
Starting point is 00:30:02 Yep. Yep. Sometimes life throws your curveballs. And you don't have time to get to them. And that's where TaskRabbit comes in. and I think you should check this out because here's the deal. One of the things,

Starting point is 00:31:49 Interesting follow-up with the salary cap that we were talking about yesterday. And I want to take this moment to plug Agent Provocateur because Alan described what? You don't like agent provocateurs no i just i know what you're getting to oh the gary the gary betman press conference well can you at least try to help me sell an stpn show first oh okay sorry here here here here put the camera on me and then say what you were about to say so we got agent provocateur coming out in the next couple days cool what's gonna be on it well we are talking about alan and jonathan here we're going to see bruce springsteen that's great and And then also.
Starting point is 00:32:28 What a fun anecdote. A follow-up to the report that Elliott Friedman had on headlines on Saturday Night Hockey Night in Canada. And a little bit of news? How the cap could go up to $97 million. $97? And Allen points out that under the cap calculation that existed until March 2020 when they had to renegotiate it. Uh-huh. The cap, based on the numbers currently available, would have to be at $110 million this year.
Starting point is 00:32:57 what so so the cap is going up a lot no matter what gary told you yesterday the cap is going up a lot adam a lot you better be careful because everyone's gonna think that ap stands for amazing podcast oh because that's all i got from that so that's coming out uh now yesterday gary betman was in uh toronto oh uh talking about stuff talking about stuff he went to the primetime sports managing the conference um we're never invited to that it's weird uh which saw the he's talking about the nhl global series and he said international growth is something we're focused on we just two played two weeks in finland uh we did two weeks in prague blah blah blah and then he's talking about the um you know how we want to grow things um but then he talked a little bit
Starting point is 00:33:52 about the salary cap and the Elliott Friedman report. Without referencing Elliott Friedman directly, he said that the numbers were inaccurate and they'd not had any formal discussions. Now, I doubt very much that the numbers are inaccurate. I do, however, believe that they've not had any formal discussions. I will tell you this, the informal ones have been heating up. And what he means by formal discussions is this.
Starting point is 00:34:17 It's the NHLPA and the NHL talking to each other. And this is what I told you yesterday, the first time that the PA has had something other than withholding services to negotiate against the NHL. And this likely results in the players getting a better deal the next time they're at the bargaining table, which I think is kind of cool. You know how sometimes we talk about what we would do
Starting point is 00:34:45 if we were billionaires? Yeah. I would hire a private investigator. and figure out Gary Bettman's most frequent route to everywhere. And I would align the route with nothing but advertisements for all inclusive resorts and retirement homes and, um, lawn darts and other fun activities for retired people because he is in his 70s and should do that when are we going to be done with this oh man as soon as the owners are upset about it but they're not but i'm wondering steve sports
Starting point is 00:35:32 held hot i am wondering actually held hostage it's it's 1993 1993 he became commissioner yes I'm still here I'm wondering if though if if Marty Walsh is able to take advantage of this little thing and if this little thing spirals a little bit for the NHL and if if the owners are Maddie's laughing guys
Starting point is 00:35:55 you all laughed when Marty Walsh took over and so did I was like what the hell this guy this guy's hooked in whatever he's done a great job there's momentum building gotta gotta wonder hey Jake I know you're listening
Starting point is 00:36:10 mr paul all right do i have something for you there's a 70 something year old out there just waiting to be called out for a boxing match this is your chance call him out jake gary betman madison square garden how you feel about it come on buddy don't think come on don't think that's gonna happen but why not uh i thought you would find that interesting i didn't alan will go deeper into that uh on the show uh when it comes out a little later this week uh obviously the nhl also recommitted to playing in italy uh for the olympics which is great and having more international tournaments and that sort of thing i'm so stupid i thought you meant for the global well remember though that we had brought up the um when when the issue of the olympics first came
Starting point is 00:37:01 up a couple years ago they were worried that the rink the arena wouldn't be ready even though there is a already a professional rink in milan yes um they were worried that the new one that's bigger wouldn't be ready and none of that happened in the press conference yesterday uh and and this is this is how far we've come because gary used to like do that well if we can't play it in a thing i just don't think we can do it and i think the pa is in a much stronger place now and i think what's key to that is star players getting involved they're actually they actually kind of care they're looking at other sports they're as i said yesterday they're looking at other sports going how come wait a second so you're telling me where it's seven billion dollars and
Starting point is 00:37:45 i'm i'm making what an active and informed union what a crazy concept welcome to the welcome to 2024 nhlpa holy fuck yeah took you long enough but honestly no it's good it's genuinely a good thing just for for clarity on those comments that one comes from a press conference at the primetime sports management that happened on the 12th oh and then the the salary cap ones happened in ottawa yesterday because right down there for the game just just because it's so clarity i mix that up sorry it's my bad no no i'll get i'll get stupid idiot yeah you couldn't take 20 seconds i know no no we just did well i'm just a joke joke man you're you're acting like uh tweets yeah i'll tell you uh blue sky everybody it's it's very kind everybody's like hey here's a legitimate
Starting point is 00:38:35 point and i'm like wow that's cool i'm gonna give you my legitimate point back it's like well we can agree agreeably or disagree agreeably no either way it's agreeably people on blue sky behave like people it's cool yeah it's weird when you're not botted to death anyway julian was the one julian mckenzie from the chris johnson show of sdpn was the one who wrote up the piece in the athletic about his comments yesterday in ottawa um has julian been in the same room with gary before and like been in a press conference with gary and asked him i don't know if he's asked him a question i think he's been in a room with him yeah i want to know if we have been in a room with gary yeah we've been in a room with gary i want to know if julian asked gary one of
Starting point is 00:39:09 these questions that led to like the salary companies and stuff like that oh i don't know i want to know if julian's making news asking questions i mean he is making moves he is making big moves um yeah speaking of julian calgary to ottawa i want to talk about this laugh uh you guys see the sense game last night laugh it was a good see the highlights anything evan bouchard he laughed in our face can we bring that up can we just show that or like not the goal but like can we get a screenshot of that
Starting point is 00:39:36 no we'll get demonetized because he just poured kerosene on and set a man on fire he did and as I tweeted last night Evan Bouchard giveth and Evan Bouchard taketh away oh I think we've gone well out of our way to be like you accept
Starting point is 00:39:53 the bad with Evan Bouchard because of then he set a man on fire Yeah, if we're going to talk about the bad, then we've got to also showcase him absolutely destroying. The screenshots aren't doing just. Oh, okay. No, no, this is pretty good. And there is that.
Starting point is 00:40:09 They weren't doing good justice to the play, but I think this is a decent showcase of what Bouchard does here. I think that's Thomas Chabot. Look at this little dipsy doodle. That's Thomas Chabot. He's a bad man. Goddamn. He is a bad man.
Starting point is 00:40:25 Right through the wickets. Later. Bye. Top shelf. Bye. My favorite thing is when you finish a move like that, top shelf. That's beauty. Ugh.
Starting point is 00:40:34 There it is. Disgusting. Everything executed despicably. Yeah. Yeah, that was their answer back game. So what's interesting, though, about the Senators is Bouchard gets that goal like first thing, right? That's within the first four minutes of the game. Then Stutzla ties it up 10, 12 minutes later, and then McDavid and McDavid.
Starting point is 00:40:56 um both different players uh mcdavid and mcdavid score twice in the next five minutes and it's three to one and i thought it was interesting you know you look at ottawa's media response to um to this because you know you gotta you want to get a sense not only from the fans we want to get a sense from the people that cover the game here's what mark mcthought noted ottawa senator player fan booster uh booster for sure uh like a college booster yeah i don't know puts money into the franchise you ever say a word where you think you know what it means but you don't it kind of feels like it though he's a he's a listen i i like local media that are not afraid to be like i'm pro this team yes i like that we don't have that we don't have that in toronto everybody hates
Starting point is 00:41:42 us including ourselves um mark my thought not trying to sound dramatic at all here but the next on the chopping block if this continues isn't the coach or the gm or the owner i don't know why he would say that uh it'll be a core piece player and it's gonna sting this team looked disengaged tonight versus a tired edmonton team remember edmonton was on the second half of a back-to-back and kicked their ass five two and uh you know and like you see all the other kind of the notables talking about it and i gotta tell you like i keep waiting for this senator's team that i'm promised every august to become good and actually they were good about it this i'll give sense fans they were so good about it yeah they were so good about it yeah but then we had elliot freeman going
Starting point is 00:42:26 on hockey night on like the first night holding up the erected sentence are going to make the playoff side but you know what if reach were here i would have told if he had done that on our show i'd have been like you're pandering you're pandering out you do not believe that you don't believe that i think he did i don't think he did i think he did and and and i think one of the things that's key here and this is hilarious is um uh claude geroux i believe played uh was it 1200 games last night was a crazy number and he was quoted earlier on in this year talking about the lenis allmark extension and he made a joke oh i would have waited a little longer right now that quote kind of takes on an air of seriousness uh it's very early on in this
Starting point is 00:43:08 contract but lenis hasn't been great and i wonder how much that injury early on affected him but in 11 games four wins three goals against average 884 save percentage this is right but what's interesting about this is this is right in line with matt murray's numbers in fact matt murray's numbers were better even with the injury right in line with uh uh eunice corposalo's numbers maybe oh goalies have gone there to freaking die and my that's my point maybe this team is just really bad well and maybe they don't play a good team game and maybe the mix i agree with you on the second part maybe the baseball gum glove maybe it costs a dollar 50 oh but you only have a dollar 25 see this is another tony hand of of mine where i tell the story all the time should i explain it
Starting point is 00:44:03 again i you know i don't know if you need to but it's basically like hey steve always wanted the baseball glove with the piece of gum in and it didn't matter how many times he messed his quarters and dimes around he never had enough i never had an i here's what i think about the sense jason york when he came on the show ottawa senator's legend kind of changed the way i think about them um you're a sense fan yeah no like let's look at the middle okay they got adam got out on the fourth line whatever fourth line josh norris tim stutzla shane pinto any one of those three you wouldn't take on your team oh i'd take all take all of them they're awesome stutzla awesome norris awesome pinto awesome and do you agree that all three of those guys are going to get better yes
Starting point is 00:44:48 why wouldn't you want those three players well they never play together then well they're always injured that is a problem they've played less than like but they're not but they're not they're playing right now yeah they're playing right now yeah uh jake sanderson adam you want him i do in fact with the cap going up as much as i as it is i think that deal is going to be an absolute steal thomas shabbat you want him uh on the leafs i want him i i want him i don't want him on to me it's not on the leafs oh oh yeah are you asking me if he's a spectacular nhl player there you go yeah clevin sure he's pretty young yeah i'd like to see what he becomes the sins are chocked full of uber talented young players and uber talented young players
Starting point is 00:45:41 especially when they're not insulated by vets sometimes suffer and they struggle to get it together for a while jason york was like look down the middle of this team boy are they young right i want to say it was ridley greg was playing center for them last season when pinto was out and we did that interview they're just i i look at that roster and i'm like god what are they doing wrong like listen the right side on d could be better artem zoob he's missed so much time jensen's fine hamannik eventually they'll be done there i look at net i go all mark forsberg like yeah that should be enough all right do we got some firepower yeah good shuck and batherson and stutzla and jerusalem still got some left in the tank and you you got these older mercenaries
Starting point is 00:46:33 like amadio who who's been a good bottom sixer and and david perron on your third line you could do worse than that and like trading off the roster i just remember the big rumor last year that we couldn't wrap our head around was they wanted chris taniff and it would it makes a lot of sense in retrospect oh yeah yeah that would they might be in a playoff spot right now and it's not about he's so good that he's worth i don't know six points in the standings it's think at how much easier that makes everybody's life how much easier it makes those three centers lives um uh like let's assume he goes with Jake Sanderson and now you put Zub down to Shabbat Jensen's with Clevin and Hammonick might not even be in the lineup how much easier does that make
Starting point is 00:47:27 um Allmark's life like I don't think you got to trade off this roster necessarily I think it oh boy are they better than they were last year like are they ahead of where they were i i don't know but i think they're better i don't know if they're statistically ahead or not i don't punish the team um the coach jay i just got here um i i like the talent i like i like a lot of things about the sense it what if it's just not time yet well and that is interesting steve because i think that for a lot of people that's what they're wondering um i think you're right you don't trade off the roster you trade on it you trade on it you need you need a bet you need bets and you look at teams that are struggling i look at here's here's what i look at i look at like
Starting point is 00:48:20 san jose okay i look at anaheim i look at um pittsburgh san jose who by the way it looks like they're having the best time they're having just vibes are great because it's like montreal a couple years ago when st louis took over everybody's just enjoying it and they win a few games and every game they win is the best exactly but you look at expectations man yeah the expectations are not there right so you can have fun like i'm looking at like okay can the sins trade off their picks yeah maybe like they have their first three picks this year no fourth five six seven next year they have a first no second three thirds for some reason no fourth well i i i wonder i mean it's a question too of what the san jose sharks would want to do like
Starting point is 00:49:10 but is a guy like you know a zetterlund available is a guy like granlin available uh is a toffoli available i'm trying to build if i'm the sharks i'm trying to build okay and i want insulate celebrini so that i don't and will smith so that we don't end up like the sins so where we got all this talent you go to a team like pittsburgh who are willing to there you go and they're looking for futures the sharks are no longer even though they say they're not the sharks are no longer a carcass waiting to be picked that's in pennsylvania and then you go get a nola chari do you go get like wouldn't that be a great fit yes i think so um i would do you go We'll get, I don't know, Marcus Pedersen.
Starting point is 00:49:56 Steady up that defense, right? Yeah, it's, yeah. Problem is, like, you like a righty. It's every damn team would like a righty. Well, sure. Do you call up Detroit? Well, Detroit's not going to help you. No.
Starting point is 00:50:12 And also, I don't know. Well, Justin Hall, maybe? Well, that's sort of what I was. Well, Justin Hall retained action. That's sort of what I was thinking. And the Leafs aren't going to help you. Yep. No, they're not.
Starting point is 00:50:21 You should be working that phone, though. I think that the time is now for the Senators to actually drop a little of those future wins for some today wins. And that's what you're doing. You're trading for, you're trading a guy who will be good in the future for a guy who's good now. I just had a crazy idea. Crazy idea. Crazy. Michael Bunting.
Starting point is 00:50:44 No Sens fan whatsoever is going to go for this. Go for it. Adam, I looked off San Jose too quickly. Because there is a right-handed defenseman in San Jose. Who was part of a very big trade there. Timothy Lilligren? Uh-uh. Uh-uh.
Starting point is 00:50:58 Jake Wallman? Another former Leaf. CeCe? Cody CeCe. Back to Ottawa? No way. Back to Ottawa, baby. I don't think that's it.
Starting point is 00:51:06 Come on. Thank you, Jesse. Make it happen. No way. Come on. I don't know if it makes much sense. I'm also not sure if the mix in Ottawa works. Julian McKenzie did some good post-game work after their loss.
Starting point is 00:51:18 And he outlined how they've performed every November. and they have we haven't reached a december 1st in the nhl since 2016 17 season where the ottawa senators were in contention by the time december 1st rolled around really uh their records the last previous november 1st are four and five four nine and one one ten and one eight and eight seven seven one three seven and one that's going back to 17 18 this team they they haven't had a good start to the year ever this this mix of this core and right now in november they're three six and one they are groundhog day every year and eventually you got to get to the point where you're like okay this mix doesn't work you know the core pieces that you're outlining there don't
Starting point is 00:52:05 have enough there to get it done and one thing i found really interesting after last night's loss is something travis green said is that they had a bad practice and then they carried over to the game whoa interesting that's that's a really bad omen for me because if you're not getting up for practice and then also not getting up for the game there seems to be a bigger problem there because travis green just got there yes like this isn't a coach where you're burnt out from his message this isn't a coach who's been there for a while and you're you're like okay we're going through the motions now because i know how practice works with this coach he just got there this season on november 19th before edmonton comes to town when you've won three games this month
Starting point is 00:53:01 you should be up you should be up for practice and you should be up for the game and i don't know if it's the mentality of the core guys there but i think they have a deeper problem than just like bring in a vet and it'll fix things it might be the people who are already on this team that need to be shuffled and who is it i i heard an anecdote um i don't know if i should use the player names put it this way there's a former bruin and a former leaf we're golfing together and the former leaf was lamenting his spot in the lineup and his spot in the league basically whining basically to this former Bruin and the former Bruin goes well yeah uh like no wonder uh you're not where you want to be like look at you
Starting point is 00:53:57 like you don't take care of yourself you don't work hard in the offseason you don't do this you don't do that he didn't just listen to his buddy and let him vent he was like yeah you don't do shit and i think that story yeah well and then that player picked up his socks and he's had an incredible nhl career oh yes i don't think it was awesome i don't think it takes scooby-doo to solve this was it austin i think you know um but i i can't help but think of that story and think of the kachuk brothers like because we know they're close we know they talk all the time like and i'm just imagining matthew going what do you mean you had a shitty practice what do the guys on your team want to like play in the league do they want like are you kidding
Starting point is 00:54:48 me are you they have bad practice i can't imagine a veteran team like florida being like you know what we had a shitty practice and it carried over to the game like are you yeah no because paul maurice would sooner kill them oh yeah matthew kachuk alone would do it you fuckers oh it's one of the best clips of the amazon documentary guys like barkov you think they just have shitty practices and then they're like you know what and then we didn't get up for edmonton i'm sure they have practices that are better than others exactly are you suggesting guys that the best thing to do here is shock and shock and awe a little bit here and make a bold trade yes but I don't think necessarily trading off of a core piece like I just I'm too tantalized
Starting point is 00:55:32 by the talent that's there but that's unacceptable that I love the the theme of this season has been new coaches coming in and torching their new teams just not giving a shit what anyone thinks or feels about them Craig Berube comes in and what it'd take him five games to say wake the fuck up like yeah it took him five regular season games in a game they were up three to be like shut the fuck up or wake the fuck up you might have said shut the fuck up too and then Travis Green's in here and he's like you you guys are you can't even practice correctly here's what's interesting too guys so the the Sens have won three games in November so far and they won four total last year but two of those three wins have come against the Bruins and the Leafs now the Bruins are bad
Starting point is 00:56:19 Of course they have. The Bruins are bad. But Ottawa, you would think, gets up for a game like that. It's an Atlantic Division game. The Leafs clearly, the Sens basically have the Leafs number at this point. It's so infuriating and so strange. But I look at the rest of the schedule. It's Vegas tomorrow night.
Starting point is 00:56:38 It's Vancouver Saturday. It's Calgary Monday. It's San Jose next week. And it's the Kings on the 30th. They have five opportunities here in the next week and a half to get more wins than they had. They could even double the amount of wins they had. There's some real winnable games in there.
Starting point is 00:56:54 I think so. Vegas tired, which matters. Vancouver injured. Vancouver injured. Calgary, Calgary. San Jose, San Jose. San Jose, San Jose, LA, LA-ish. Like, would anybody be shocked
Starting point is 00:57:08 if the Sens won all three games next week? I would. Well, based on the way they're playing and the attitude. You gotta win more than you lose. there's 10 out of 10 points you should be able to get points in all 5 you know what everybody loves the most about Christmas
Starting point is 00:57:25 your butt balls Christmas balls and you need to make sure yours are well groomed you need to make sure that when you're talking to your family about your nothing love life that at very least you're cleaned up
Starting point is 00:57:40 you're cleaned up you've got a great beard like Jesse yeah take the snow off your jingle balls that's right but you also have a great beard like you get oh yeah no because the performance package 5.0 has this stuff guys you know what stuff for the upstairs and the down does santa use manscape products on his beard yes you have to think about that he told me verbatim that that's what he does did he he did and what did you say and what did you reply that's great santa yeah he flew away oh steve and then you talk about north pole alaska what do you think
Starting point is 00:58:17 did you ask santa about north pole alaska and be like oh that's my favorite place congrats steve you waited a whole 30 seconds to bring that one up you one trick pony loser and then he said i'm one of over 11 million men around the world you choose manscape Santa said that for sure. To kick off the holidays. Santa used, I'm pretty sure he used the discount code too. He did. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:58:45 H-O-H-O-H-O. No, no, it wasn't. Oh, Dangle. Santa used Dangle. 20% off in free shipping. Dangle. Manscaped.com. Again, 20% off free shipping.
Starting point is 00:58:55 Dangle is the promo code. Manscaped.com is the website. And Santa is the man who will be putting it in your stocking this year. This has been an ad about ball shavers. Two in five Canadians will hear the words, you have cancer. That's why every step and dollar raised matters. Starting point is 00:59:25 Together, we can carry the fire and help create a world free from the fear of cancer. Register today at pmcfwalk.ca. um moving on from the ottawa senators uh it looks like morgan frost and the philadelphia flyers are headed towards splitsville if you believe kevin kurz for the i don't know i've never heard of them athletic that's been brewing for like at least a year and you know it just seems like and this happens with every team that john tortorella coaches there are guys that are his guys and there are guys that are not his guys he is not and and you know we saw in toronto too like lilligren was not a berube guy sure nope and that's fine that's that's totally fine morgan
Starting point is 01:00:12 frost is a tantalizing guy for a lot of teams because there's a lot of talent there um and he's 25 and he makes 2.1 million dollars and he's a center and you look at a team like the toronto maple leafs and you go boy they sure could use a young center i've thought about him for a while yeah now he's got six points in 16 games only one of them is a goal 41 points last year 46 the season before this guy on the leafs is a instant third third line center he makes some sense okay why okay remember a few years ago when the leafs literally had no one up the middle no one so they made a trade for peter holland the reason that trade made so much sense at the time was okay here's a guy he's young in his career former first round pick uh we need help now
Starting point is 01:01:09 so that's a guy who can help you now immediately because you need a band-aid solution but also when guys get healthy again you're not going to be like well shit what do we do with pete i mean when babcock joins then you go oh shit what do we do with pete and let's give him to another team and he scores against you immediately but it's a young player who can help you now and later morgan frost could potentially be that guy the cheaper option is fraser minton well that works out yeah yeah so and i guess we're about to find out they're doing i don't have a problem with anything the Leafs are doing right now um they're uh but let's taking advantage of the schedule I do want to make it about Morgan no I know they're taking advantage of the schedule
Starting point is 01:01:57 they're giving their own guys a chance first and if it doesn't work out and guys are out longer all right now we look at Morgan Frost um I wasn't even thinking of the Leafs the first thing I first team I thought of uh first team I think of whenever a forward becomes available is Colorado I thought of Colorado And I don't think Morgan Frost would be Opposed to that Well I think about a team like Columbus And it's interesting this morning
Starting point is 01:02:26 Because we have news that David Juracek has been sent down to the Cleveland Monsters Saw that Aaron Portsline tweeted out a great article That he wrote It wasn't someone else's it was his About Among other things the David Juracek
Starting point is 01:02:41 Saga and you know remember this guy's a sixth overall pick two years ago it's not that long and he has gotten rave reviews for his play alan walsh client with the cleveland monsters no no they denton um he plays with denton mitachuk and i guess has been spectacular there and the coaching staff loves him someone who doesn't is creed aka dean evason and won't and it's interesting because because portsy goes into like his his minutes and you go look at david david your checks minutes he's only played and this is bonkers six games this year this is a 20 year old guy and he ice time wise in the last three games eight minutes and 14 seconds eight minutes and 50 seconds nine
Starting point is 01:03:35 minutes and 15 seconds there's a there's a line at the end of the article there when i was reading it and it's just so illuminating to the situation he's in porcelain goes into a story about how your check was in the hallways and he's chatting with two reporters and the reporters in your check start talking about the best press boxes around the league because because the damn coach has been scratching him so much the thing your check can like bond with reporters about is the best press box that's that's so sad for a dude who was drafted six overall three years ago dude 20 years old 20 years old he'll be 21 in a in a week ish six foot four 204 pounds six overall pick there are 32 teams that want this player you can't figure that out
Starting point is 01:04:28 except for apparently the one he's on the he should play you know how many games he should be in the press box for none no it doesn't he's not growing at all being up in the press box yeah and if you think he's too good for the ahl then he has to play nhl minute no he isn't any player who's not good enough for the nhl is not too good for the ahl right he's got to be able to play somewhere that player doesn't exist you're wasting his time by having him him in the press box the they're so shitty at this dude the blue jackets are so and i'm cheering for the damn team so hard. They're one of the worst developmental programs the
Starting point is 01:05:07 league has ever seen. Well, and if you need proof of that, look at who they've developed. Good lord. Next to nobody. It's bad. It's horrible. So here's a piece of the article that really stood out to me. Waddell believes that Juracek has nothing further to prove by returning to the AHL.
Starting point is 01:05:23 Incorrect. But Dean Evison believes that he's not good enough for the lineup. But for the 20-year-old playing heavy minutes in the world's second best league is much better than not playing or barely playing in the nhl so he does gain from it then waddell does not believe in interfering with his head coach's lineup decisions so you know you're gonna have you're in charge of the roster decisions what lineup he's not in it well he's not gonna call the head coach and go you need yeah yeah
Starting point is 01:05:56 which is which is fair but so at least today they made a decision either way yeah like at least today we they said okay yes yes you're going down yes but the fact that he played six games up to this point we got to here and he's just been traveling around the league looking at press boxes is crazy yeah you should have made this weeks ago yes decision and and this is also you got to remember this team's bad and this team's been bad and uh everything that has happened with the team this year that has been tragic aside yes this is a bad program this is a poorly run organization and it's a a scrap pile that don waddell has to help this team climb out of that was created just got there over the last 10 years the last 10 years by john davidson and
Starting point is 01:06:47 Yarmulke Kalinan and the various head coaches. It's worth noting that you're a check and all of these guys. I don't just count. You're a check. I count Kent Johnson. I count all the other guys. Kent Johnson. Who's shooting the damn lights out.
Starting point is 01:06:58 Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Um, they've had three coaches in three years, Brad Larson, Pascal Vincent, and now Dean Everson.
Starting point is 01:07:05 And you should count Babcock in there. Well, okay. But you should. Sure. Okay. Four of them. Splint there.
Starting point is 01:07:11 Yeah. Splint errors. But yeah. Um, but, but in this particular context, again, And Portsey goes into it, and he says it's interesting.
Starting point is 01:07:18 He has barely sniffed the power play in those three seasons. And that's what he was best at. Now, you can make the arguments about his skating. People say he's not looking strong on his skating, needs to be harder on the puck, all that stuff. But guys, show me a defenseman at 20 that doesn't. If you don't play them regularly, you will not know. This is the key.
Starting point is 01:07:41 The organization is not going to make the playoffs. we know that they're they were not even i don't even know if they're cap compliant yet you know what they've been they've been well the nhl's already with yeah no but that's what i'm saying though the nhl sorted out but steve this is the point fabbro might not even have brought them to the floor oh i forgot they got and fabbro getting fabbro shows you well he's a right shot defenseman your checks behind that guy that's okay but my point is this if you're a shit organization in terms of results on the ice right now yeah right your car your garbage your results are going to garbage you know that okay fine play your young guys find out what you have like what what what
Starting point is 01:08:23 real benefit do you have to playing dante fabbro over david you're a coach are you trying coaches don't think that way are you trying to win games that bad yeah so you can finish yes 27th instead of 32nd yes dean evison is dean evison literally is coach no he's every coach you need a developmental coach guys there are none there are none show me one there are none they don't exist that's a figment of your imagination that is the okay all right that is no it's not true then listen i look forward to finding out what they get for their sixth overall pick in 2022 i think sometime this month that's probably what we're going down no you know what they get their sixth overall pick after another year bacon yeah just i think they're gonna trade them well they're elliot said it on
Starting point is 01:09:09 32 thoughts. You don't have to trust me. It's what Elliot said. I think they're going to trade them, guys. They better either not. They shouldn't. Or get a King's ransom. And seeing what the Sharks got for, not the Sharks, the Preds got for Askarov.
Starting point is 01:09:26 Good luck with that. Kent Johnson, by the way, shooting the lights out in the four games he's played. Yeah. Five points in four games is pretty good. Two goals. Sillingers, I think. Shoot the lights out, Jesse Blake. He's got two more goals than you're a check like i know the reason hey he's got as many games as you're
Starting point is 01:09:47 a check i i tried to pump his tires because i'm like they haven't developed shit which isn't true it is true what every team has developed someone right but these guys they're they're um who their success rate's horrible yeah exactly who absolutely horrible especially like in recent memory it's been a little bit better but like even the guys they've hit on like they've lost oh dude they're awful just an awful awful blue jackets draft history uh i'm looking at it right now it's rough um chinikov is like their greatest victory like 21st overall some dude no one's ever heard of and he ends up he's pretty good
Starting point is 01:10:29 their depth picks I'm sorry they drafted Trey Fix-Wolanski I love Fix-Wolanski if you were drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets outside of the first round start looking up cities in Siberia that you can settle down in
Starting point is 01:10:48 can i say something jesse jesse jesse the last extreme take my phone okay and you show me the lie the last guy you punch it into google this is important this is important the last guy they drafted annoy your father it's default he's four the last guy they drafted that has over 100 career points at the nhl level is pierre luke dubois over 100 points in his total career so last guy that they drafted that currently has over 100 nhl points is pierre luke dubois in 6 2016 holy lord uh texier is at 82 uh caril marchenko's at 83 okay let's do chinnikov's at 68 non-first round picks to play over 100 games uh cole cylinder is a first hole cylinder did it no he's a first round oh he's a first round sorry he's a non-first round marchenko marchenko in 2018 and bemstrom
Starting point is 01:11:54 emil bemstrom who's played 228 games what is bemstrom even there anymore uh i don't know i don't think andrew peak as well bemstrom i think is with peak's not there anymore looks like he's He's with Pittsburgh. He had a great 2015 draft. Stenland ain't there. Colasar ain't there. Gavrikov ain't there. Nudivara ain't there.
Starting point is 01:12:13 Or is he? I don't even know. Oh, Merzlikens. Good job. Dude. No, Nudivara's with the Panthers. Or was with the Panthers. He hasn't played in three years.
Starting point is 01:12:21 If Waddell didn't join them and just fire every scout, then he's wasting his time. Horrible program. Holy shit. Win some fucking games. It's crazy. it's crazy i'm cheering for them genuinely genuinely you got to figure out how to develop a prospect dude holy shit yeah i think at least eurocheck today has a path you know at least
Starting point is 01:12:47 well a path a path to playing games you know like at least he's not sitting in the press box anymore at least he's gonna be on an ice sheet playing hockey games which is good for his development but um yeah hopefully they have some clarity on like hey are we keeping this kid or not you got to throw you got to throw rookies into the fire or at least top guys like that into the fire when your team's not expected to be good like the leafs when they did it they had matthews martyr neilander star all in the same year neilander played a few games neilander was a marley's legend marley's legend it's true but i have his bobblehead from a lovely fan they threw those guys into positions they knew they'd fail at and the reason for that was because they were like
Starting point is 01:13:29 well can't be worse than last year we were 32nd and they ended up making the playoffs which was cool babcock did that in the third period of the centennial classic the leafs were up 4-1 in that game red wings made it 4-3 and he threw out the kids in the final minute just to be like all right let's see what you got and they got scored on it was 4-4 went to overtime at least eventually won but that that to his credit that's what you do that is what you do and that's not what's happening and and again i asked dean evison listen dude like i know that you want to win games but we have develop potential here that we need to work on and you know how long is Ivan Provorov going to be here I don't know but like are we are we does Christensen need to play ahead of your check
Starting point is 01:14:12 all the time all the time every game I agree with you but if the coach doesn't want to use the player having him in the press box is unforgiver unforgivable okay send them to the minors it shouldn't have taken this long okay we'll see what happens it's november 20th and he's just been sent to the ahl that's unacceptable yep jesus develop a prospect god's sake fantilly's got three goals in 18 games i know you think he's loving it or what i think i think nobody i i i think people often tell you that the city of columbus might be the reason why free agents don't want to sign there and columbus is hold on hold let me finish the point all right i'm gonna say i love gonna say you know how you heckle the show i do that
Starting point is 01:15:08 during the show what i was gonna say is what steve said which is columbus is a great place to live and so we agree yeah what are you giving me shit for people wouldn't have an issue signing there i don't think you got the american dollar the american tax system whatever what uh you're you're close to a bunch of other great cities you can fly to and hey when you're a millionaire everything rocks uh you can do whatever you want why are you saying all these bad things about columbus i think the reason that free agents don't want to sign there is because the organization is a clown show yes it is and you know who has craig button said it the best he's like before everything happened
Starting point is 01:15:46 with the Gaudreau's this summer he said they're just a night on the schedule another game nothing why do you think no one signed in Toronto for like over a decade because they were ass they were shit yeah and they were a clown show like it was a terrible like yeah they were just bad no it would have been
Starting point is 01:16:02 great if they were just bad no they were terribly run terrible so so yeah that's why people don't want to sign there I guess what happened it was crazy no one wants to sign at Edmonton oh they start winning everybody wants to sign at edmonton isn't that shocking isn't that weird you got a finite amount of years to play hockey and you don't want it uh you don't want to play it at the bottom of the league shocking that's weird two and five canadians will hear the words you have cancer

Starting point is 01:19:02 to the front next shop um okay so let's let's move on here because they gotta now i think this is interesting i asked you guys about crosby getting goal 600 he did not get it i was hoping he would get it because they did go to overtime pens lightning uh jari was booed to start the game and then booed when he touched the puck for the first time that doesn't help anyone well and some people are saying and i think rightly so and we've beat up on the pens a lot but rightly so as well pens fans have been like fair yeah um you i'll be honest with you that's pretty spoiled behavior well you didn't even fuck up yet yeah you're bronx cheering your goaltender after all the success that you guys start the game yeah like i've never seen a guy get bronx cheered to start
Starting point is 01:19:48 the game i'm on the side you're a fan you can boo yes yeah no yeah i'm not i'm not i'm not getting on the jenny's game they bronx cheered the jenny's goalie mid game yeah you're a fan at a sporting event you can boo if you want well that i hated that too though yeah i hate because the kids like what 16 yeah 17 i don't know i don't know he was having a rough night and it wasn't it wasn't the starter that we spoke to it was the other guy and and he he like is brand new in the general's case here's here's here's where here's where the fans doing that makes some sense um brian burke always tells a story about his decision to fire ron wilson and um the crowd was literally just chanting fire wilson
Starting point is 01:20:39 and he's like i made the decision that allowing ron to coach another game would be nothing short of cruel and unusual punishment sometimes things have to get so bad and so ugly for your team and for your market that those in charge have no choice but to do something because it's just become a laughingstock um that's ugly it's ugly and i don't love it but if it gets ugly enough they will make moves they will do all the things that we've said they flatly refuse to do um maybe it'll be mike sullivan maybe it'll be one of the core guys maybe they actually try to acquire some help maybe they move off of this goaltending catastrophe how maybe they do something how are they going to do that anything what are you gonna do about
Starting point is 01:21:41 the goaltending fucking call the team on your phone and see what they say i have some i have a story for you okay once upon a time there was a chinese farmer whose horse ran away that evening all of his neighbors came around to commiserate and they said we are so sorry to hear your horse has run away that is most unfortunate and the farmer said maybe the next day the horse came back bringing seven wild horses with it and in the evening everybody came back and said oh isn't that lucky what a great turn of events you now have eight horses and the farmer again said maybe the following day his son tried to break one of the horses like as in like break them in yeah while riding it he was thrown and he broke his leg and the neighbors said oh dear that's
Starting point is 01:22:23 too bad and the farmer said maybe and the next day the conscription officers came around to conscript people to the army and they rejected his son because he'd broken his leg and again the neighbors came around and said isn't that great and again he said maybe now if you don't understand what i'm talking about when things were going wild here in toronto uh kyle dubas tweeted this out and it was a youtube video i know exactly the date um tell me what was happening steve the leafs were playing against the tampa bay lightning this was the 1920 season i believe so this was just before the covet shut down two weeks prior the lease had lost to david Ayers. After the David Ayers game, the Leafs actually strung together
Starting point is 01:23:07 a few wins that they badly needed to stay alive in the playoff hunt. But what happens during a game against the Tampa Bay Lightning that they hung on by the skin of their teeth and won? Jake Muzzin got hurt long term. And Travis Dermott was like their number one defenseman basically. The next day when no Leaf fan wanted to hear that dubas tweeted out a video that was the chinese farmer the poem or whatever that you just read and i wonder you talk about things getting so bad that organizations don't have a choice
Starting point is 01:23:46 i have yet to see kyle dubas get bullied into something just because things got bad fuck that's a crazy reference that's diabolical you're you're evil well is it is it not is it or is it not a measure i mean he tweeted it i don't know tristan jari is getting booed on home ice isn't that horrible maybe crosby scores 600 goals isn't that great maybe that's a psychotic pull you should be on every watch list that's actual serial killer shit i think it's important it gives you insight into the man no it does it does and by the way every penguins fans i'm so sorry i Couldn't believe how many Penguins fans were like,
Starting point is 01:24:43 man, I sure hope. Oh, it would be such a bummer if Mike Sullivan resigned and went and coached the Bruins. Oh, no. Maybe. Maybe. Everything with the Penguins is now maybe. Jesse, there's your title.
Starting point is 01:24:55 Jesse, I sent you the link and you sent me the link and you sent me the promo for this. Let's go through. Jerseys, baby. Jerseys. This is an outdoor game between the Chicago Blackhawks and Buffalo Sabres. Hey, are the Chicago Blackhawks in an outdoor game?
Starting point is 01:25:11 Good for them. good for them now the blackhawks jersey we'll start there looks like the stan makita bobby hall era blackhawks potentially even earlier let's just say um yeah sewn down embroidered heritage felt front crest with a shoulder patch classic lace neck collar reminiscent of hockey's early days front crest including the stars as a tribute to the chicago flag stitched pinstripe design in the back numbering uh which honors chicago's baseball heritage i like it i also like it i like it i think it's a nice jersey the hallmarks the outdoor jerseys love going with the circle logo yes um and the brown gloves the brown gloves i like brown gloves i like brown
Starting point is 01:25:57 gloves too man yeah no i like it sometimes they look stupid these look good you can't see it if you're listening but nick felino looks like he can shoot lasers from his eyes in the promo i've never seen that much white in a man's eyes before but there you go look at him look at him that's the kind of stare that says your mother just asked you a question what did i just say that's so gonna hear him problem i'm scared of that i've i feel like i'm not doing my homework fast enough actually okay now let's go to the st louis one i'll say st louis st louis no that's buffalo i'm sorry uh
Starting point is 01:26:42 sewn down embroidered heritage felt okay so so same thing sewn down embroidered heritage felt front crest and shoulder patch typeface was inspired by the team's unworn 1966 prototype jersey newly designed vintage style blue note appears on the shoulder which you can't see in the promo, wondering why they wouldn't have included that. Inside, back, neck, and hem label and display the St. Louis fleur-de-lis,
Starting point is 01:27:13 which you also can see on the Quebec flag. Fleur-de-lis, which is a French monarchy insignia from years ago. Anyway, I wish we could see what was on the blue shoulder, but I like
Starting point is 01:27:28 this jersey. I like the Blackhawks one a lot. I can pull up a different photo if you want Okay you know what I'm going to reserve reaction Until I see an alternate angle Of this jersey You want more angles
Starting point is 01:27:44 I sure do Give me a second Maybe What do you want like a back side Maybe No I don't want to stop Which team is this
Starting point is 01:27:59 I think it's very funny to me hold on okay i still can't oh here we go okay let me see this jesse's gonna scan the blues all right winter there you go okay you can play this we can play this video yeah fanatic sent this to us uh are they gonna show the shoulder there's all the details lou there's we got some the blackhawks one's so good it is it's really good okay there's okay so it looks like the normal blue note yeah okay all right that looks like Yeah. So, okay, here's my question, and this is what I'm going to challenge.
Starting point is 01:28:34 There you go. All right. All right. Okay. Okay. Yeah, it's a nice jersey. It's a nice jersey. And by the way.
Starting point is 01:28:38 I like both of them. Sabres stole the blues colors when they came into the league. Yes. Yep. That's very true. Yep. So. When I couldn't see what was on the shoulders, I thought it was a little too plain Jane.
Starting point is 01:28:48 No. Yeah. The shoulder helps. The shoulder helps big time. The Blackhawks won no notes. Oh, here's even better on the shoulder. Yeah. No, that's good stuff.
Starting point is 01:28:55 What do you mean? The blues one has notes. Hey. Hey. Oh, my God. Let's go. He's not even a dad. Like, come on.
Starting point is 01:29:06 He's our dad. The St. Louis Rams way back in the day had these blue colors as well. These are colors that are native to St. Louis. These are Marshall Falk colors, man. They are Marshall Falk, Isaac Bruce, Torrey Holt. What's back in the day? 2021? No, no.
Starting point is 01:29:20 That's 25 years ago. I'm talking about like the early 90s. Kurt Warner years. Late 90s. Yeah. The greatest show on turf. Ah. Hey, man.
Starting point is 01:29:28 That's when I got into football when that team was really good. Yeah, that was my favorite football team of all time. Yeah, I love both jerseys. I got no problem with either of them. Here's what my challenge is going to be. Instead of the winter classic, why don't we jazz it up next year and do the winter retro classic? Now, when you say retro, a lot of people go retro. That must be in the 80s.
Starting point is 01:29:50 And I think it would be fun if we tried something different other than, hey, this jersey looks like it might have been made in 1947. I think it'd be great if we tried it, hey, 1977, 1987. Let's pull from this. The NHL has 110 years of history and design to pull from. Why don't we pick a decade each year and go, it's going to look like it came from this decade. Got it. And then, and even if your team didn't exist in that decade,
Starting point is 01:30:18 like I love when like a team like Seattle's got to do a throwback. I think it would be fun to be like, okay, we're going all electric 80s this year okay but i'm putting a caveat on it i have i have demands no more blackhawks no no no more what blackhawks that's enough oh they're like blackhawks jerseys all their jerseys are the same they're all the same yeah there's the one that's black and has a bunch of stripes other than that it's red and the logo do you not think that the blackhawks winter classic people are they must be so exhausted with the blood like what like every gonna run out of red what do you mean they got another game we gotta we gotta do this again
Starting point is 01:30:58 they're gonna run out of red ink and stripes well and especially with the way detroit's looked last year it was detroit was like black and white and red and they've also had the same jersey forever well i i what i'm saying is like reimagine what it would have looked like in the 70s if you had a graphic designer team go in there oh so like okay so like aggressively deep v yeah uh or like and have like a giant collar or disco themed jersey yes like like we you know in the 80s the the typeface got very sharp in in bell bottom album color like take from lift from pop culture don't just live from the well this team won a lot of baseball championships so we're going to put some stars on the flag i want you to go hey here's what's happening in pop culture at that time
Starting point is 01:31:43 here's something that's unique to our city at that time here is a reflection of the times gone by and and make a jersey inspired by that rather than just yeah does it look like my great-grandfather would have worn it and it was made of wool yeah i know what you mean i know what you mean let's get let's let's open it up a little bit it's not just when gary it's not just when cliff fletcher was in his 30s we can do cliff fletcher in his 50s we can do cliff fletcher in his 70s jesse i think we need another things that are younger than i can honestly play that game all day just that's the best thing we ever do because the answer is nearly everything it's like everything in society came before cliff can i just say the steel ink pen i i drove home the other day worried
Starting point is 01:32:31 that like what if he ever heard that do you think he'd be insulted and i was like wait a second he's not listening to a podcast no also i would love to have cliff letcher on the show to talk about what it's like in like the 50s yeah yeah like when he started in hockey imagine what that world looked like oh my god what was it like to be my age watching the moon landing that's what i was that that's honestly something that probably happened probably it happened what was it 1969 would love to talk to him i hope he was alive cliff letcher's nephew who's probably listening it would get in contact with dude i would love to know uh i would love to know what it was like to have color tv for the first time and cliff would be able to tell you the washing machine
Starting point is 01:33:12 yeah you lived in a world where there was no laundry machines well there were there were they were just the hand crank yeah some other from the looney tunes man were you blown away when they invented the microwave oh man what do you mean i can heat up food in 30 seconds jesse i was two years off he was 34 when man landed on the moon i want to ask him that dude he was our age our age when man landed on the moon he was like john tavaris's literal age yeah that's insane and he had already worked like 10 years in hockey at that point yeah i will tell you that jesse um that you're not the only one who finds that to be their favorite my wife has also said that that is her favorite thing i've ever done it's so interesting she says
Starting point is 01:34:00 it's the greatest thing and she's like i hope you continue to bring it oh no that was the best i hope when i'm 89 years old yeah which he is yeah an nhl team is like yeah i'm gonna pay you for your advice just want to pay you to be here yeah vibes vibes fletcher brings the vibes now you know how much leaf tickets are this dude just gets in the building with a key fob that's crazy for anybody who was wondering about why we keep talking about the blackhawks and outdoor games i just wanted to count this and put the stat out there from march 1st 2014 until january 1st 2019 the blackhawks played in five outdoor games it's not something we imagine that they're in every game they were literally in almost every outdoor series like five of them from 14 to 19 is insane
Starting point is 01:34:52 they played pittsburgh in march of 2014 they played washington january of 2015 they played minnesota in february of 2016 they played st louis this is actually a rematch because they played st louis in st louis in 2017 and then they played the bruins in 2019 they're in every single outdoor game let's let's get some new teams in here let's let's mix this up a little that's yeah utah i want utah uh two and five canadians will hear the words you have cancer that's why every step and dollar raised matters on september 19th join thousands in toronto for the princess margaret cancer foundation walk challenge yourself friends and family to walk 21 kilometers in support of life-saving research together we can carry the fire and help create a world free from
Starting point is 01:35:47 the fear of cancer register today at pmcfwalk.ca one last thing before we do the um two last two quick notes okay do the press conference okay real quick yeah uh pwhl will be on amazon tsn sportsnet and cbc this year in canada hooray so all four providers buying in which is excellent minus sportsnet no sports that will no i saw i saw they were not yeah they weren't carrying any games read that okay my apologies so okay yeah they got uh anti-feminist i would say damn i'm I'm joking. It's a joke. No.
Starting point is 01:36:23 All right. It's a joke. I'm kidding. No. And this is interesting. And this is interesting if you're a hockey fan because the NHL and the MLB are very well connected. They actually use the same platform for their website. MLB hosts on the MLB network often do the NHL network as well.
Starting point is 01:36:42 They share production facilities. And Evan Dillrich, who is a reporter for The Athletic, said that the MLB is building toward a new TV future. As you know, they've had a lot of trouble with regional games because regional games are not worth what they used to be worth. And, you know, things like Valley Sports, which is now FanDuel Network, were having issues paying their bills. Rob Manfred wants the league to take control of local TV rights so the MLB can launch a new blackout-free national package that you can buy and watch your team or any other team wherever the fuck you want to. Literally how sports should work. You pay the money, you get the games. All six MLB teams that remain with Diamond Sports
Starting point is 01:37:33 have deals that expire no later than 2028. Meaning, ladies and gentlemen, the MLB could be, after the MLS, the next league to do it. The NHL, I can guarantee you, will not until at least 2030 because here's what's going to happen. Amazon's going to buy that national package
Starting point is 01:37:52 and TSN and Sportsnet will split the regional games. But once that's done, we will then see the success of both the mls season pass and the mlb probably season pass the the nhl for i want to say at least like probably more than a decade i want to say decades had this available it was called nhl center ice and you could just buy that and you get everything you get everything and it's still available in some international markets around the world where they're not restricted by the tv rights broadcasts that have been negotiated here in north america you could just buy it and it's
Starting point is 01:38:26 on like your playstation 2 app back in the day and you can watch away feeds or home feeds and every game is just available and then eventually as tv evolved and they could sell all these broadcast rights it disappeared yeah i used to love that it was so cool i remember watching has been intentionally uh fucking up your viewing experience for a long time yeah and it's coming to an end and by the way cable's dead like even i think um paramount i think is who is it and whoever owns comcast is like spinning it off like they they have 12.8 million subscribers and they're going yeah this is pretty much no it's it's adapt or die and cable came in and said or kill your competition and just murdered all of them for probably about 20 years but it's and now it's
Starting point is 01:39:10 coming to it is inevitable it's inevitable no not to them i remember you know what not not while i'm working i'm gonna be retired by then when rogers put a bullet in it when rogers first bought the nhl package the nhl center ice thing came with it and i remember getting a free subscription because i worked at rogers and they wanted you to promote it and wasn't it great and i was watching like the dallas feed of like a st louis dallas game on a tuesday night and like craig ludwig's on tv and stuff like that like and and you're just like man the one thing that i think is frustrating doing what we do because this is a show essentially that's an nhl show through leafs fans eyes we do a lot of leafs but we do a lot of the nhl too what's frustrating for me
Starting point is 01:39:49 as a person that talks to people in every market is we don't get the fan perspective on television. I like reading a journalist in any market, you know, someone who works for the Tennessee and somebody who covers so-and-so for the Athletics. Great. I want to hear it. I want to feel it.
Starting point is 01:40:12 And I can't unless I sail the seven seas. And sometimes it's just a lot of effort. You download Yarm80+. Yeah, exactly. When you have Yarm80+, listen, the ocean is wide open to you. Yeah, you can go anywhere on your yacht. But I will tell you this.
Starting point is 01:40:29 You can travel anywhere on your Saudi yacht when you're a pirate. It's hella yacht. It also flies. Just in a giant rainstorm. Yar! Hanging off the front of the boat. Dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun.
Starting point is 01:40:43 And just to clarify, I believe Rogers still calls one of their packages is nhl center ice i'm not talking about the one that's currently available i'm talking about the og one that's really i bet it's a cost effective option i'm sure it's awesome um i just i would rather pay for it and i'd rather it just be what's what's the uh mls apple package cost people you know what i'll look it up mls i'm sure it's not more than like a couple hundred dollars something for the whole season it's cheaper than your maybe oh my god you're gonna die what is it for subscribers for non-subscribers to apple tv it's 14.99 per month for subscribers to apple tv
Starting point is 01:41:23 it's 12.99 a month for a season yeah what's that for a for a subscriber it's 59 dollars for a whole season for a non-subscriber it's 99 now the mls is only on par with the nhl in terms of value right fewer games fewer games but they're they're catching the nhl very quickly in terms of revenue very quickly and they're charging that 50 bucks yeah for a season's worth 60 now that might be american so it might be 70 in canada but yeah even if it's a even if it's the other 100 because you don't already subscribe to apple tv let's say it's 120 canadian do you want to know what comes with it that's stupid everything watch every match including league cups and the entire audi mls playoffs no blackouts watch every match in english or spanish with the option to listen
Starting point is 01:42:18 to the home club's local radio announcers all matches involving canadian clubs will also be available in french get access to mls 360 a match day whip around show in and that's every match day they have a whip around show not just on thursdays uh in both english and spanish with live looks and highlights around the league dive into pre-match coverage post-match analysis highlights player profiles interviews club content match replays mlx next mls next matches and more access mls season package pass on apple devices as well as smart tvs oh by the way they have the app available for anywhere that you would need the app which has also been a problem like i remember a cup up until like a year and a half ago tsn didn't have an app for amazon and so i was like a tsn subscriber but
Starting point is 01:43:05 i had to cast it to my tv yeah well um and internet's pretty and here's that for your for your well here's what you get for your 70 or 60 bucks a year you also get to share it with five family members oh my god oh damn do you think the mls is interested in growing the game what do you think every british uh person uh listening to this is like dying six family members seven family members isn't nearly enough well and and i imagine what they play for pay for premier league is insane yes hey um sportsnet premium in comparison is 249 canadian a year well they know what people will pay for that's a lot they know they know that i don't pay for it i don't they've done their research it's a lot it sure is for an app that's not that good yes we are going to make an
Starting point is 01:44:03 app and make it not intentionally shit so that you don't decide to keep your cable package. Do we get to call Allegiant Stadium? No. Why not? Because apparently it is illegal to record a conversation
Starting point is 01:44:18 in Nevada. Oh, it is. Without them knowing. Yeah, it is. We'll tell them. Hey, we're recording this. Yeah. Okay, cool. Do you want to do it? We'll hear a click. No, we'll talk to the nice customer service lady and just ask her. we'll we'll tell them hey we're a part of an nfl podcast um we can lie and and say we're we're
Starting point is 01:44:39 looking to bring all 15 people down to the stadium and we want to know how much a box costs and we're recording this for our show yeah let's do it let's call them we'll just say it off the top by the way american radio stations have to do that whenever you know what's the phone adam you know you're being recorded so first of all first of all adam you're going to be in charge this okay you're gonna be talking to whoever we get on the phone let's not do that nfl nonsense i just i just said the wrestlemania is being hosted at the stadium this year uh april 19th to 20th it's gonna be two days oh i might like to go to that yeah we all might so adam you're gonna be talking to whoever we get on the phone yep and you're gonna ask them for a box of let's
Starting point is 01:45:22 say we got a group of 25 people coming down to wrestle that's a good number should we go less and more 25 25 for a good group and you want to know how much it'll take to get 25 people down you're part of wrestling podcast you're recording this uh just so they're all the way is that cool and and for funsies let's say what's a season cost and then you also inquire about hey what what if i wanted the rate to see the raiders and i want to know what those suites cost as well yeah yeah yeah okay and you gotta have a fake name why can't it just be me why can't you be tony foot tony do you want me to be tony foot hi this is tony foot f-o-o-t-e yes tony tony foot of the of the tony football podcast wait no wrestling wrestling right yeah and we do a little football
Starting point is 01:46:09 on the side like we're also yeah yeah the people's foot and just yeah make it clear make it clear off the top for all legal reasons that we are recording this so you can play it back to your business partners and all that fun stuff. Okay. I'm going to see if we can dial this up. All right. So they are... What are we doing, folks? What are we doing?
Starting point is 01:46:29 5, 1, 3, 2. All right. Everybody good? Ready. Steve, keep quiet. Raiders, this is... How can I help you? Hi, I'm looking to speak to somebody in the, uh, like a luxury box department. Yeah, I can help you with that. What were you looking for?
Starting point is 01:46:54 Well, first off, I do want to say I'm recording this call because we have to legally say that for, uh, my business partners, but on my name is Tony foot. I am a football podcast host, and I'm actually looking at weirdly enough, not football WrestleMania. Uh, and I was wondering if you guys have any luxury boxes available. We want to bring some clients down there, um kind of pull it all together and and give them a good time and i just wanted to know what your pricing options might be yeah so we do um we have a few different options did you know how many people approximately you'd be looking to bring out is 25 possible yeah so we have we're down to pretty much our last we have like one or two 26 person suites remaining okay um let me pull up my
Starting point is 01:47:41 inventory so essentially it's going to be our top tier suites um they're like i said 26 guests they're all inclusive so the suite comes fully catered and then you'll also be in a club space that has additional food and beverage options for you and your guests as well um so it has everything you need that includes alcohol soft drinks food desserts literally everything okay so it's an all-inclusive price it's not like a la carte from the menu like because i'm looking at the menu online and that sort of thing so is that correct so it's all inclusive so you don't have to worry about taking out your wallet at all once you get there oh great um yeah so it's nice especially if you're sending clients because you know they're going to be taken care of from start to finish
Starting point is 01:48:22 um for wrestlemania for both nights so it's sold as a package so you get both nights um it goes for 50 000 total for the two nights okay and uh you said you're down to your last your last one Can I ask about the view? Like what kind of view am I getting from this particular box? Yeah, so it's going to be on the 150 level. If you'd like, I can email you a link that will show you the exact view from the specific box. The only thing is it's going to be a view of a football field. Okay, that's fine.
Starting point is 01:48:55 You just have to kind of use your imagination. The ring will be right in the middle where the 50-yard line would be. So I could send that to you. Okay. What is a good email address for you? You know what? I'll give I'm going to call you back on this because the the the price thing is what I have to run by my my partners before I can go forward um okay and then and then you know kind of go
Starting point is 01:49:13 from there because it's if the price tag is a sticking point for them I don't know that it will be but if it is uh I need to like I need to make sure that you know obviously I'm not wasting your time here no worries no worries at all um did you want to take down my direct line in case yeah actually could i yeah let me know when you're ready i'm ready it's fantastic and can i ask are yours are your regular like for regular season uh for raiders are you guys completely sold out for that we're not um we still have the jaguars and chargers games available as well all right and are those can i ask what like a game might cost yeah so it just depends on the location the size of the suite we have a little bit more availability compared to this um they're
Starting point is 01:49:58 pretty much starting around $15,000 for a Raider game. Okay, okay. And that's all-inclusive as well? So it just depends on what you get. It's different for a Raider game. It's not that all-inclusive one. We only have those all-inclusive ones for WrestleMania. But we do have them for Raider games
Starting point is 01:50:13 where some of them come with unlimited alcohol and a preset food and beverage package. It just depends on which one you're looking at. And would I get to order... Sorry, I'm asking a million questions here. Would I get to order beforehand? Like, I know that you guys have the dry-aged steak, and I know you've got some, like, snacks and that sort of thing. Like, what's the – how does that work?
Starting point is 01:50:37 Yeah, so depending on what type of sweet you get, it's either the preset food and beverage menu, and then you can order additional on top of that if you wanted, or you get a food and beverage credit that you can use to order those specific menu items that you were talking about. Beautiful. Ahead of time. Okay. Yeah. Okay, well, let me take this back because there's a big – yeah, I'll be honest with you. there's a big difference between 50 and 15 and i'm just not sure which one my partners are going to go for so i'll uh well we will call you back but i really i do want to say i really appreciate
Starting point is 01:51:03 your time yeah of course let me know if any questions come up and if you want more specifics i could send over a map and everything so just give me a buzz you got it thanks no problem have a good one you too take care tony do you have 50 grand for us tony well done who wants to go buy the 50 000 box right like who's got 50 grand to blow i listen when you listen when you're a billionaire it just comes natural uh but i i i do i could not have done 50 no that's why that's what i do for like i do that with jacks all the time he's been doing it for 25 years yeah i do this all the time five zero 50 50 000 for the wrestlemania that'd be like 75 grand canadian but that's all inclusive and one night i thought right i both nights for both nights i actually
Starting point is 01:51:56 thought that's not bad if we're breaking it down wrestlemania a once uh a year event it's it's the super bowl of wrestling you get both nights you get 26 people fifty thousand dollars is a thousand all inclusive isn't bad so really it's a bad night at all 25 grand a night that's so you're looking at 2 000 bucks a person and if you're talking about are you kidding me and like listen we're not at this level i want to be so but we're not at the level that that but when you're talking about clients like for instance i'll give you an idea of what spends are hockey night in canada the playoffs for 30 seconds of airtime is 75 000 so if you see a big sponsorship package same that's what it costs that does like let's say hey it's the it's it's intermission show brought to
Starting point is 01:52:47 you buy that's double so 30 your 30 second ad spot you know during a Leafs first round especially the Leafs first round because the Leafs one is the most expensive the Oilers being in the Stanley Cup finals was pretty damn expensive too please spend that money on podcasts coming to the future that you're spending tens of millions of dollars right 2024 so so what's what with a company like let's say Rogers what's fifty thousand dollars plus some flights and I'm sure you could get those on contra with one of your flight partners what's 50 grand when they're spending 10 million even if right and you give them the experience of a lifetime that's a good deal even if you're not a big corporation if you got a big group of boys and you're all like wrestling's our thing
Starting point is 01:53:32 the once in a lifetime we're all gonna drop two grand on the box and get it together that's yeah how many people just spent that on taylor swift oh 100 and like you know a week in mexico it's like a week in mexico right exactly plus it's not just wrestlemania i see and because it's vegas you're spending the week in vegas doing wrestling shit because they're gonna have it all over the strip you're there for the whole thing it's it's and i don't know this is reasonable i'll be honest wrestlemania is worth it man oh the one they are amazing they are amazing and they're long you get your money's worth man they they are what are they four hours well they just had one of their best ones ever ever and this one's shaping up to be just as good and then when you go to the
Starting point is 01:54:15 corporation route like you just did that's easy well it's also money that either goes to the government or goes to or you spend it yeah right are you are you because you're gonna get taxed on it anyway you may as well spend it and that's how they look at it so you know i think that was fun we could do that i love that all right let's figure out who we gotta call next we call it next discord channel let us know you got tony hands number tony foot he's gonna be like hello tony foot to tony hand tony foot gripper nation shout out all right so should we let's wrap oh Yeah, we got to wrap. We need to get the hell out of here.
Starting point is 01:54:46 Oh, my goodness. That was fun. Adam, well done. Wow. Lots of experience. I'm not good at much, but I can make a phone call. Wow. I pretend to be someone.
Starting point is 01:54:54 What a schmoozer. Oh, yeah. So good. No, thank you. Thank you. Did you, like, go to your own PTA meetings as a kid? No. That's interesting.
Starting point is 01:55:04 the steve dangle podcast follow the guys on twitter at steve underscore dangle at adam w y l d e and at jesse blake connection complete
