The leaves are turning, the temps are dropping.
The weekend air is getting that nice autumn crisp.
And just because the weather is changing doesn't mean you've got to pack all the fun away.
What does that mean?
You can pack them away in your chubbies.
You know what I'm saying?
What does that mean?
Well, your fall wardrobe by chubbies.
Oh.
While you're walking around with your PSL, you get your soft, stretchy fall stables.
Your PSL, Jesse.
My goodness.
Fall staples built for maximum comfort, minimal effort.
Mark your calendars.
Chubbies fall collection.
has dropped and you can check it out.
And it's more than just, you know,
when we've talked about Chubbies before,
it's about the shorts and the bathing suits,
which are great.
You might be going on vacation this winter.
Get your Chubbies for that.
But we think, and they think,
that fall should be cozy and not constricting,
and Chubbies delivers peak softness
without sacrificing an ounce of style.
Go ahead, break up with your stiff pants,
embrace the fun side.
Now, whether you're layering up for tailgates
or lounging on Lazy Sundays
or just leaning into fall comfort,

Hockey season is back, which means your schedule just got a whole lot busier.
Ours definitely did.
Yes, it did.
I mean, Jesse's at the games all the time.
Steve's up late doing L-F-Rs.
doing streams and Steve's doing streams. It's just crazy. It's fun though. It's amazing.
We're very, very lucky. But here's the thing. If you got a busy life and kids and things going
on, Factor makes real meals, all fresh, never frozen, always cooked in ready in minutes,
and they're healthy. When time's tight, this is what you need. We're talking chicken pesto,
steak with veggies, roasted salmon, meals that feel like they were cooked for you, not by you,
and they're delicious. You had me at pesto. Isn't the pesto? I know it's great. Real food, great
flavor and the kind of meals that actually support the work you are putting in to your life.
So if time or cost or effort are holding you back from eating better, Factor just took all of
those off the table. And Jesse, I know you love them every time you go to the Leafs.
I absolutely love the Fusili Shrimp Alfredo.
It's fantastic.
Right now, you can get up to $90 off in free shipping.
Hurry, this offer is not going to last long.

Guys, I want to get back out on the lake.
Well, you do live right on Lake Ontario.
Okay, fair point.
But I'm thinking I'd like to plan a trip to Colona in British Columbia.
Oh, yeah, solid choice.
We found a great place on Airbnb near Lakeshore Road.
Going to check out the restaurants, the coffee shops,
definitely got to visit the wineries.
It sounds like the whole trip's built around snacks and drink.
As it should be.
But it got me thinking, while we're out there, our place back home is just sitting empty.
So you're going to list your space on Airbnb while you're gone?
Why not?
They can come to my neighborhood and live like a local.
My favorite Mexican places close by, we've got some amazing parks and waterfront to explore.
There's even drop in wreck hockey just down the street.
Plus a little extra cash in your pocket for the next trip.
Exactly. It just makes sense.
Your home might be worth more than you think.
Find out how much at Airbnb.ca slash host.
We're going to S. D.
D.P.
The Steve Dangle podcast with your host, Steve Dangle, Adam Wilde, and Jesse Blake.
Let's go!
New York Jersey!
Whoa!
New York jerseys.
Tune to Adam Wild's stream where he gives away New York Jersey's.
Actually, I really love these.
These are the winter classic ones from Miami last year from Miami.
And what I love about these ones, if you can't hear or see what we're doing,
these ones are the, and I was saying to the guys beforehand,
and they didn't say anything back.
But I said, I wish NHL teams used more cream color in their jersey, not just white.
We always go with the stark white and black and whatever.
But you see how nice the blue pops off that?
I like it.
It's beautiful.
It is a nice kit.
It's a good kit.
It's a good kit.
New York Winter Classic jerseys for you tomorrow on our stream.
The Leafs will take on the New York Rangers.
I think it's Bobrowski v. Grand, just that we drew it up that way beforehand.
We're giving away three of them, by the way.
Yes.
On tomorrow.
So that's once a period, Jesse?
7 o'clock.
No, it's a form you fill out, so it'll just be three.
And then however your chat mod wants to distribute them, they can.
Who is the chat mod tomorrow?
Is it Robert or is it Justin?
You would know that.
should know that, but I don't know that.
Someone.
I never know that until right before I arrive, because not because it's not written down
and organized, but because to me, kind of like when I wake up in the morning, why check
the night before what's happening the next day when I could check at 8 o'clock in the
morning?
Oh.
You know?
Way too much going on.
Absolutely.
Who's prepping for this?
The other thing we should prep for in a couple of weeks, Friday, Easter Seals, the
Eric Lindross tournament.
Obviously, we're big participators in that.
Rachel's Raiders raising money right now.
And you can get the link in the description anytime, also on our street.
Yes, and speaking of three jerseys, if you donate to anybody on Rachel's Raiders, any dollar amount, you will be entered for a chance to win one of three Gavin McKenna jerseys.
We will ask you what size you want after you win it, so you're not just getting an arbitrary jersey.
Also, you are entered into a chance to win a pair of tickets to two different leaf games.
Number one, Matthew Nye's return game.
We visited him.
In November, I think it's 21st, he visits us.
And January 9th, I believe it is Leafs and Philadelphia Flyers.
So two different pairs of Leafs tickets and three Gavin McKenna jerseys.
And Rachel's Raiders just passed $47,000.
Amazing.
All right.
We're going.
We can get that cup back.
Yes.
Right.
Yeah.
I would like the cup back very much.
Yeah, because you went one year without it.
And then now we got to win it back.
I need it back.
So I have a question.
Why did you pick Jersey's?
from a Leaf player who doesn't play.
I was surprised by that last night.
Like, we all get a hyper fixation and that's fine.
Make it make sense, though.
I know.
We're not getting into it yet,
but I just wanted to make the snide remark.
They won six to.
And they did double shift him at the end of the game
to pump his numbers.
Whatever.
Where I want to start today
and where I think we should start
and where we need to start,
and Keynes fans are going to hate this
because their record is similar.
But we need to start with the 7-1-1-Oilers today.
Man.
The 7-1-1 mother-f and one,
mother-f and lawyers.
Lawyers.
The, okay, if I did the math,
and I'm pretty sure it checks out,
but you can always check me on this, all right?
If everything continues at the rate
that it is continued through the first,
we're more than 10% through the season,
by the way, we're at the 10-game mark most teams.
It's scooting along fast, it?
It happens quick.
If everything just continued on this pattern,
right, math's all about patterns, right?
Connor McDavid would have 243 points
at the end of the season
100 to say 87 of those being assists
Evan Bouchard would have 65 goals
at the end of the season
only to be dwarfed by Leon Drysidel
with 75 and tied with Vasily Podkoulson
at 65.
Man, if you, there's no way
Vasili Putkoulson is available
in anyone's fantasy league still.
Well, it's because I have them.
It's, oh, you son of it.
I have them.
I have them in two others.
McDavid on pace for 243.
Bouchard on pace for 168, dry saddle on pace for 149,
Pod Colson on pace for 112, and who, Jesse and Steve, is the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5th leading score
on the Edmonton Oilers at the end of the season.
If everything continued the same, and Nugent Hopkins and Hyman never see the ice.
Fifth leading score.
Nage comes back on Thursday.
He does.
On the Edmoney Oilers.
Tell me.
Kappinen?
Close.
He's six.
Jesse, guess?
Mr. Joseph.
Matthew Joseph.
He's on pace for almost 50 points.
Wow.
Which is crazy.
That's the drop off.
Yeah, well, the thing is you could look at that and go, well, that's quite the drop off.
50 would be incredible for him.
Yes.
But when the points are so high with four players, I don't think anyone cares about the drop
of, and you're getting, would you say, Nuge is back on Thursday?
And then Hyman's probably back in the next couple of weeks.
Yeah.
Bab said it in the press conference after the game.
He's like, listen, he was talking about.
to a goal that he's like, I don't want to give goals away.
Goals are going to happen, but I don't want to give goals away.
And he was saying, but I'm pumped to get a couple of guys back in the lineup.
Yeah, and I mean, it's hockey.
So, like, you know, they get those guys back and maybe they lose a few games.
Like, that is how.
Yep.
No one, no one, I don't know if you realize this, but they're probably not winning 70 games.
Well, people have.
70?
Haven't they won 70 games?
I don't think so.
Didn't Boston?
No, Boston.
No, the Golden State Warriors did.
Yes.
Boston 65, I think, which is insane.
That is an insane amount of wins.
And all that to say, the oilers are going to be A-OK.
Yeah, Jesse, go ahead.
Can I tell you more things about Connor McDavid?
Yeah.
Yes.
So Connor McDavid currently is on pace to hit 100 points in his 35th game of the season.
Hell yes.
A ridiculous number.
Oh, my God.
Unless he gets a season-ending injury, I'm not.
Stop that.
I'll put that out in the universe.
But he's going to hit 100 points this season.
So whenever he does it, whether it's the 35th game or not,
that 100th season will be the 10th in his career.
Oh.
Mario Lemieux in his entire career had 10.
So he's going to tie Mario for second place all time because the record is 15 by Wayne Gretzky.
Of course.
You know what?
He's only five back of Gretzky in 100 point seasons.
He's going to tie Mario for second most of all time at this point in his career.
He's going to hit 2,000 points.
Jesse.
Yes.
Sorry to interrupt.
you there. I did not mean to do that, but it instantly popped into my head.
You know, there are still people in Pittsburgh arguing about Mario v. Wayne.
I am really pumped for the Connor v. Mario conversation because at least it'll be different
from Mario v. Wayne. It'll be Connor v. Gretzky, though, just because of the oil.
But in Pittsburgh, it will not be. Because in Pittsburgh, Mario is the best. So I'm excited for
Connor v. Mario. I have time. And I think, by the way, I have time for Mario's.
answer that most people have for that,
especially considering what Jesse just gave you.
I have this a part of it.
I have time for Mario is the best.
Just me too.
The stats are so silly.
The Wayne Gretzky thing is very interesting
because the 35th game mark that he's on pace for,
Wayne did it in 34 games.
So if Flutter is able to just keep this up a little bit more,
he'd actually have a shot at breaking that record by way.
And I think the greatest thing that happened last night
was the assist mark he hit.
He has the most assists ever in the history of the NHL through nine games.
Wayne's whole thing is the assist number.
Yes, it is.
The stat everybody throws out.
If you took away every single goal that Wayne Gretzky ever scored,
he'd still lead the history of the NHL in point totals.
That man was just surpassed by Connor McDavid.
And that's pretty cool.
That's pretty cool.
It's insane.
Let's add to that.
243 points is a lot more than 215, which is the NHL record.
It sure is.
And I remember getting, I had like a bunch of hockey books growing up and hockey cards and things like that.
And I remember one of them was like a Wayne Gretzky, like, comic picture book that talked about his life or whatever and had a bunch of Wayne Gretzky stats season by season through it, whatever.
Like these are the things that I would do on a Saturday morning after hockey is I'd go read hockey books.
And I remember, I remember thinking like 215.
And back then, like this is basically the start of the dead puck era.
No chance in hell that that's ever going to get reached.
again like, wow, Matt Sundin, you got 83 points this year,
and that's good enough for 10th in the league.
You would win the Hart Trophy if you scored half that.
Well, Jamie Ben won with 86, the Art Ross.
And which is a lot of less than half.
And Jesse, remember we're Buffalo?
We're like, yeah, there's Jamie Ben.
Yeah, Jamie Ben on the trophy.
On the Art Ross.
It's the most ridiculous number on that trophy.
It's weird, but you want it.
There were, we, again, I've said this before.
I'll say it again, there were two dead puck years.
We just don't talk about them that way.
That's true.
No, maybe we should.
Yes.
And Jesse, you talk about the assist,
because obviously,
Muriel got to 199 points,
so Conner's on pace for 187 assists.
Assis.
Which would break Gretzky's record.
Yes, of 163.
So, like, I never thought in our lifetime
that this would be possible,
and that's what's so cool.
Now, Evan Bouchard,
168 points, if it happened,
would be the most ever by a defenseman.
Bobby Orr has the most ever.
Do you guys know the number?
Oh.
It's crazy.
138.
Jesse.
Did he nail it?
I'm not going to say it.
Okay.
So this is most assists ever by a defenseman.
This is,
it'd be the most points ever in a season.
Most points ever by a defenseman in a season.
That's correct.
Steve said 138.
I'll go 120.
Steve was one off.
Oh, man.
139.
I know.
I was like Steve kind of know.
Yeah.
Sorry about that.
Okay.
Now, how about this one?
It would also,
his 65 goals would also be
former Oilers defenseman,
Paul Coffey for most goals in a season.
What is the most amount of goals in a season?
Obviously, by Paul Coffey ever recorded for a defenseman.
Give me 44.
Jesse.
You said it's 65 beats it.
Let's go.
55.
48.
48.
Almost hitting 50 as a D-Man.
So we never had a 50 goal defenseman season.
That is what the research says.
Yes.
Okay.
Now, I think, I think you're going to laugh at me.
I think Bouchard can do it.
Like, I actually think he could do this.
What's he at?
Hold on.
Let me just pull it up because I actually, I have all the stats there.
Eight, six and 20.
Yeah, six goals, 20 is this.
I actually, no, seven, seven, eleven.
Oh, seven now?
Yeah, according to last, after last night.
That was seven, eleven, yeah.
He's averaging 25 minutes a game.
He's got 30 shots.
He's shooting percent to just 23 percent.
That will regress.
Yeah.
But let's say, maybe.
Regression happens in like three-month intervals.
Sometimes it's a full season.
And a full season is only six and a half months.
So we're talking about a guy that if he just stays hot for half the season,
we could have 25, 30 goals for Evan Bouchard by Christmas.
That's insane.
We could.
That's insane.
And I think the offense on the power play, which it's the Oilers power play, goes through him.
You know, he's the one setting.
if it's not McDavid on a rush,
or dry saddle on a rush.
He had a goal the other night,
and it wasn't a bush bomb.
It was a rister where he,
the puck teleported.
Teleported.
It was the most disgusting.
They're scoring so much that we haven't mentioned a goalie in months.
And we probably ought to.
Yeah, Devon Levi's unreal.
Yeah.
And you called that.
I will say that.
You were saying,
hey, this could be the guy.
I said if,
I think what I said,
was if it was going to be any of them, it'd be Levi.
I think it kind of has to be.
I know it's not going to be.
Also picked him up in fantasy.
You son of a.
Bye, Brandon Busty. Hello, Devin Levi.
You're such a rascal.
What a rascal.
No, because like I think there's enough evidence that it's not going to be jarring.
Freddie Anderson, gosh.
If he ever plays again?
At his best is, he's going to get hurts.
Yeah.
He's going to get hurts.
And at that point, you're just praying for luck.
by by the laws of pro sports the best chance you have is Levi turns into the player that people thought Levi could be right and that's happening in front of our eyes we were just probably about three years early I remember years ago you were begging him to be good because I had people were talking up Levi so much that I was like sabers are finishing second in the Atlantic I do remember that and
And I think they finished last.
It's like what Jesse said, Chicago.
We're not good.
Chicago's going to make the playoffs two years ago.
Remember?
I tried.
When they got Bertuzi.
Yeah, we all have those, right?
That's how much we like Bertuzi.
Yeah, he was great.
I don't know how much of the game you guys got to watch last night,
but I was talking to Hayden beforehand because I got to see some of the second half of it.
And Quinn Hughes really wanted all of these records to happen in overtime.
It's three on three, obviously.
But Quinn Hughes is like, I am so important to this team.
I need to hop out there and make it four on three.
And what are the ref to do?
They said, that's illegal.
That's too many men.
And that leads to the penalty in overtime.
That's his number.
What?
Four on three.
Yes, which is also the score of the game.
It's just four to 43 all day.
Quinn Hughes takes an egregious too many men on the ice penalty because he comes
right off the bench and takes the puck.
It's ridiculous.
And they score on that power play where they win the game.
And if Minnesota could have stayed disciplined in that game,
Ryan Hartman takes a, what do they call a?
Ryan Hartman in discipline.
Hip checking penalty.
the earlier in the game on Bouchard.
And if they just stay disciplined,
they could easily win that game
because it was two goals on the power play
during regulation than one overtime.
And you can't give Edmonton these opportunities.
It was a night of bizarre penalties
leading to OT winners.
Yeah.
Well, yeah, in the Montreal game as well.
I was going around.
But like this team, they're such,
they're the greatest scoring team of this generation
right now and how they're performing.
Yes.
And if you're a very high-end,
team like Minnesota, your job is just don't give Edmonton these opportunities.
And last night, early on in the game, they give them a couple opportunities.
And then in overtime, they give them an opportunity on the power play.
And you're going to lose against Edmonton in that way.
And they were impressive coming back in the game.
They're down, was it 3-1?
And they fight all the way back, but it was too late.
And like, refs know.
They know when a power play is like 110%.
Right?
do not give them a penalty that they can't not call.
And that's one of them.
Right?
Yeah, you have to call that on you.
You have to.
It's like that and puck over the class.
Don't do those two things.
Their playoff penalties.
Yeah.
Like,
if the ref sees it,
he's going to call it.
I've smoked you in the face with my stick.
The ref has to call.
From pretty much,
there's like a month long period
from the beginning of round three
to the end of the Stanley Cup final.
where that's the only penalty.
I was interesting.
I was listening to Bruce Boudreau was on some show.
I forget what it was.
I don't even know if it might have been TSN.
And he was talking about the fact that when he was in Vancouver,
he said Pud Colson and Nils Hoglander were like really like players that he really liked
and thought were very good.
I thought Hoglander was going to be better than this.
And then he had the two goal game against the leaves.
Me too.
Yeah.
Well, but of course it had to be.
Of course he did.
But what he was saying essentially was that Pud Coulson, he said,
was just a really good guy,
but knew no English,
came over to Vancouver from Russia,
right? You can imagine how jarring that is
at 18 or 19 years old, and your top 10 pick
or whatever he was.
How does this keep happening?
And yeah, well, and the thing that keeps
happening, though, is like, he said,
Bruce is like, why don't we send him, he said to Jim
Rutherford, and I guess it would have been Alvin at the time,
why don't we send these guys to Abbotsford,
we're expecting big minutes from them,
like let them get their game for a month,
and then we'll bring them up.
And they, I guess, he said,
Rutherford looked at me like I had three heads.
Like I was insane.
And he said, and then they sort of, and I'm paraphrasing here,
but they basically, under the talk it thing, which was next,
tossed Pod Colson out.
And the Oilers got him for, I don't know even know how they got him.
It was like a nothing trade.
A fourth?
It was bad.
And you look at, I mean, listen, do I expect,
I think Evan Bouchard could get 50 goals?
Do I think Vasily Pod Colson is going to get 65,
which is what he's on pace for currently?
I mean, they'd be cool.
It'd be great for my fantasy team, but I don't think it's going to happen.
if he gets 35 or 25, that would be a resounding, incredible, amazing success.
And the fact that you got him for a fourth is incredible work.
That's amazing.
The good news is I nailed it.
The bad news is I nailed it.
So Vasili Putk-Kolzin traded from the Vancouver Canucks to Edminton Oilers for a fourth round pick in 2025.
You better hope David Lewandowski is very, very good.
The 117th overall pick.
That is what Vasili Putt Coles in the 10th overall pick in 2019 was traded for in 2024.
And I think, you know what that reminds me on the Vancouver side, guys?
That reminds me of what the Leafs used to do pre-Shannaanna.
That kind of shit.
Yo-yo a guy, not give him the right opportunities to succeed, put him under a coach who's just not maybe the best with young players.
Like, Tocet, I still, I still am like, I don't know what the proof is that Rick Tocke's great with young players.
although he's allowing Porter Martone and Matt Faye Mitchcoff to play hockey now, which is nice and they're winning.
Weird.
Weird.
But you look at what the Leafs would do and they would just fritter things away.
Even if it was a mid-level guy who was going to be a middle-six guy, they would get nothing back.
And it's terrible asset management.
And I think with Hardy and the Siddins, I'm hoping that that kind of stops the bleeding.
Because you think about what a guy, what like Pod Colson could mean to a Vancouver rebuild right now, right?
Right?
Even if they're trading him.
Anybody.
Like even if he, even if they were like, yeah, he doesn't fit our timeline and we're going to move them.
That's a big asset.
You know, it's fine.
We've talked about this already.
I've seen the sentiment.
Well, he's, you know, he's out there playing with McDavid.
He's a McDavid merchant.
But not everyone can do that.
And yeah.
The Oilers had a guy.
I think it was last year they recruited from the KHL or Europe to play with him.
What's that guy?
I don't even remember their name.
And they were down.
in the minors like before Halloween.
I got an expensive version for you.
Jesse on this one,
you remember Milan Luchich,
McDavid merchant?
Remember they hired him to play with
McDavid and he just couldn't keep up?
36 million dollar deal.
Couldn't keep up.
Yeah.
So anyway, Jess,
do you have something else you want to add
on the oil minister?
You're giving me that look like you have something.
No,
no, it's really good team.
Can we talk about then,
can we talk about then a guy that is not making the lineup
that I'm interested in as a Leaf fan
and we're not going to the Leafs right now.
Jake Wallman.
Jake Walman does not seem to be the guy that's, that's, he seems a little bit on the outside.
Is he getting health?
Well, he's not, I don't think he's getting health bump.
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
He's not, he's not playing the same role he was playing a couple years ago.
And I know he didn't have the best season last year.
I'm curious about that guy.
Is that a guy, do you think, they could shake loose?
He's played six games.
He's averaging less than 15 minutes a night.
Has no points.
And for, what is he, on a $7 million deal?
I want to say long term.
It is.
is that a luxury the oilers can afford now here's the thing the oilers should be in absolutely no rush to trade anybody
no they should just do nothing they're guys get hurt and also your seven one and one there should be
no urgency to do literally anything so is he a guy that could shake loose yes is that a guy the
oilers should the oilers should have their phone on silent right now do nothing do nothing why would
you try to do anything unless if you get a call from the edmonton oilers you should be suspicious
that they're selling high on someone ah because they do have a glut of forward some people are
going to be sent back down when new jean hymen are back in yeah so like you know maybe they have like
some minor business to take care of and you know you'd rather make a trade than
and maybe, I don't know if there's a potential waiver situation or whatever,
but like something as significant as Walman, like, yes,
I understand how it would make sense for the Oilers.
And maybe it's best to trade from a position of strength.
But this early in the season when things are going so well,
you don't need to do anything.
No, it's a good time to be an oiler fan.
Yeah.
People made fun of me in that first month or first week of the season.
I said, as soon as the Oilers get a competent goalie,
they're going to meet the most dominant team in the history of the league.
Now, maybe I was overstating it a bit.
They have a competent goalie.
I saw, I think it was, I forget who it was in Oilers Media yesterday.
They were like, hey, Devin Levi made a glove save.
We haven't had that for a while.
That's the bar it was at, guys.
Is that like a Bronx cheer tweet?
Yes, I think it is.
While you're winning, listen, listen, all you got to, I don't even know if they need great goal to me.
They're getting great, though.
Fine.
I don't know if Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard ever gave them great goaltending,
but I think they find their way to the playoffs.
Actually, they are just getting good goaltending.
Devon Levi, five wins in six games.
Okay.
898, save percentage, which is roughly lower end of league average.
I think that's middle end of league average.
Is that what it is now?
It's under 900?
Isn't it?
Like, I want to say league average is like, that might be it.
It might be bang on that number.
Wow.
Okay.
which is completely insane.
There was a time,
like at the beginning of us doing this show,
if you had a goalie with that save percentage,
you would be yelling and screaming at your team
to send them to Siberia.
Yeah, it was like a 910 or a 912 or something
when we started.
It was a high.
If you had below a 910,
get out of my face.
So far this season, it's 892.
892 is league average?
Oh, you can take that off.
Ew!
Yeah.
So not the dead fucky around.
So he's above league average.
That's cool.
They can absolutely win a Stanley Cup with that goaltending.
Absolutely.
Absolutely. Yeah.
That's crazy.
Just have to get there.
And hey, they got Freddie Anderson who got another team, notable team, through all those rounds last year.
So if they need playoff experience, they got it.
They got it.
Or a more manageable workload for a goalie who's old and busted.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Last year was 896.
Man, that's hard.
We are only 151 games into the NHL season, but it is trending downwards.
The last few years.
Look at that!
Wow.
If we're going post-pandemic, it's gone from a 9-10 to where we are, 8902, 910, 908, 907, 904, 903, 900, 896, 892.
It's just been trending down.
I was right.
Which is great for the consumer.
First season of the podcast, 914.
Yep.
That was the Jamie Ben year, wasn't it?
Or just after.
I don't remember what year that was.
But, dude, holy moly.
Now, yeah, Jesse's right.
Early season, goals are a little higher.
I would expect it to probably go somewhere between last year and the year before, ish.
I think, 892.
Based on the last few years of the metrics, like we should finish at 894.
Yeah.
It's been down a couple points every single year.
You're right.
Wow.
since 13, 14.
This is why...
Sorry, 14, 50.
This is why, you know,
it was in the context of the leaves,
but like every team could take this lesson.
You might be like, man, our team,
our defense sucks and our goalies suck.
You need to look around the league, fellas.
You need to look around the league.
If your goalie is allowing three goals,
you actually have quite a good chance to win that game.
That is about...
Bang on League average.
So why are we so mad at Brobowski then?
Huh?
Or anyone?
Or anybody.
Pretty much any goalie.
I want to quickly just as a side quest here.
Because of where that saved percentage is, which is crazy.
I want to talk very quickly about my two most favorite seasons from one goaltender.
And it is Mika Kipersoff with the Calgary Flames the year before and the year after the lockout.
He got traded from the Sharks to the Flames after a game.
I can't believe the Sharks ever gave this guy up.
But they had Nabokov.
They had Nabokov and Toskola.
And Toskola and Kipersov.
Yeah.
And they decided Toskala is probably going to be better.
And they were wrong.
Trade it Kipersov.
He goes to Calgary, has a 2410 and 4 record with a 933 safe percentage.
933 and his goals against average was a 1.70.
And then after the lockout and you're like, man, that's crazy.
He missed some time.
Well, he went to.
Timura IK, which I'm assuming is in the finish league.
Timra.
I think that's Sweden.
He played 46 games and then put up a 915 there.
And then 0506, our last year of high school, he comes back and plays 74 games.
74 games.
He gets 42 wins, 20 losses, and 11 loser points too, because that's when that was all instituted because there's no ties anymore.
923 save percentage.
Wow.
That's insane.
That's maybe the most dominant two-year run of like 120 games of any goalie ever, statistically?
We should talk about him the way we talk about Tim Thomas.
Just a great, like just a white-hot flash in time.
And yes, it did go away, but no, prime Mika Keprosov was absolutely cracked.
Also, on the way to the Stanley Cup final in 03-04, 928 save percentage.
Yeah, stupid.
That's insane.
BenMGM is an official sports betting partner of the National Hockey League and is ready for puck drop.
And here's the thing.
We got the Senators Panthers game tonight, which is a massive game.
And one of the things BetMGM has is the goal in the first 10.
So are you yay or nay goal in the first 10?
And just for funsies, who gets it?
Because I feel like if it does happen in the first 10, it's a big deal.
Whoever gets it, obviously.
But tonight, more than ever.
Sends gets it first.
It's like, yeah, victory for Ottawa.
Panthers get it first.
It's like, oh, the bad guys are up.
Purely from a viewership standpoint,
I'm going to say yes,
and I hope it's Ottawa because that's the loudest option.
Ah, I like that.
What's the loudest option.
I think we do get a goal in the first 10,
and it's Warren Fogel.
That's Ottawa.
That's still Ottawa.
I like that.

Hockey season is back, which means your schedule just got a whole lot
busier. Ours definitely did.
Yes, it did.
I mean, Jesse's at the games all the time.
Steve's up late doing LFRs.
I'm doing streams and Steve's doing streams.
It's just crazy.
It's fun though.
It's amazing.
we're very, very lucky, but here's the thing. If you've got a busy life and kids and things
going on, Factor makes real meals, all fresh, never frozen, always cooked in ready in minutes,
and they're healthy. When time's tight, this is what you need. We're talking chicken pesto,
steak with veggies, roasted salmon, meals that feel like they were cooked for you, not by you,
and they're delicious. You had me at pesto.
Isn't the pesto? I know it's great. Real food, great flavor, and the kind of meals that actually
support the work you are putting in to your life. So if time or cost or effort are holding you back
from eating better, Factor just took all of those off the table. And Jesse, I know you love them
every time you go to the Leafs. I absolutely love the Fusili Shrimp Alfredo. Oh, it's fantastic.
Right now, you can get up to $90 off in free shipping. Hurry. This offer is not going to last long.
Go to factor meals.ca. Use the code dangle, D-A-N-G-L-E, up to $90 off from free shipping.
only with the code dangle, factormeals.ca.
Factor.
Canada's number one ready to eat meals delivery service.
Check them out today.
Moving on. Dylan Larkin.
We'll get to the Leafs, don't worry.
Dylan Larkin expanded his trade list last night.
Helen St. James from the Detroit Free Press put this out.
And what's great about Dylan Larkin is he's kind of decided,
I will play for an all-star team or I will play for the Red Wings.
Okay.
New theory.
He loves the Red Wings.
Give him the captain C-back.
Because he's not getting traded to any of these teams.
Nope.
That is Mr. Red Wing.
Give him the captain C-back.
Based on his list, he actually loves the Red Wings.
So there's only one team, and you'll know immediately when I name them,
who actually needs a top two or a top number one center here.
Every other team on this list, I would argue, are set.
Sure.
He will go to the Carolina Hurricanes.
Maybe.
They're set.
Come on.
They just won the cup.
I can see it.
Stalls out a while, though.
Colorado Avalanche
No
Dallas Stars
No
Florida Panthers
With Barkov
No
healthy
And he will be at the end of the year
He will be by Christmas
Yeah but he's not healthy right now
Okay but they can't afford him
That's also part of it
That's never been a problem for them
Barkov's coming back
Florida was one of the original teams
That Dylan Markin had requested a team too
So I think if they wanted to get it done
It would have been done already
So I think they don't need
Cross them off
What Jesse just said is if he wanted to
He would
Damn.
Minnesota.
I think that's an obvious fit.
We've been saying that forever.
New Jersey, they have a,
they have centermen.
No.
No.
Tampa Bay.
They have centermen.
No.
Braden points kind of funny, though.
Injuries, you think?
Catching up?
He's just,
he's not what he was.
Slow start, maybe?
I don't know who they trade.
Yeah.
Yeah.
A slow start dating back to
the beginning of last year.
Yeah, no.
Okay.
Utah Mammoth.
They just got Vinny Trocheque.
I would find it weird if they went and did this again.
You could do something where you trade like Tej,
if Detroit's willing to accept more futures.
Who's the other guy they have too?
Denoia.
Yeah.
They have some.
I can see it.
Do they need him?
No.
I could absolutely see it.
But if he's going to Utah,
I think he's playing wing a lot of the time.
Or he might be doing tradeoffs.
He's not a full-time center.
I think he would be playing center and either you move Trochechek down
or Trochev goes to the wing.
I can see him playing center in Utah.
Vegas.
We know.
If they wanted to, they would.
And the interesting one, Washington Capitals,
who built up their lower depth to the point where I don't think that they need to do anything.
No, Boone Jenner exists in the Dillon-Larkin spot.
Yes.
If Larkin wanted to go to Washington before they made the Boon-Gener free agency acquisition,
then he's probably there, but he didn't want to.
Hayden wants to say Strammel, Yorov,
The Euro propaganda is high right now,
but I was just going to say,
I have all the teams that have named,
I think Washington's the only one
that doesn't have a USA teammate.
I think every other team on that list
has at least one USA team.
Oh, that's a really pick,
interesting pick.
Not, Chicago.
Because Washington had no Olympians,
remember?
That was the odd thing about...
Tom Wilson.
Oh, yeah.
No, American.
American.
No American.
Yeah, no American.
Oh, Chickren wasn't on the US.
No.
Carolina has Slavin.
Huh.
And then everyone else, Minnesota, has three.
Yeah, so I just thought that was a little interesting.
I thought it was interesting some of the teams left off the list.
And one of them is not surprising because it's in Canada, but I just want to say this.
I think you're insane if the Bell Center calls out to you and says,
come join us and you say no.
Yeah.
I think you're insane.
It's a little silly.
I think that's insane.
They, especially with where Montreal is.
Incredible fan base, incredible place to live.
Incredibly managed franchise.
A very good team.
You want what you want, and he doesn't want to go.
Another one that surprised me.
San Jose, not on the list.
I mean, people are going to bring up the taxes thing.
But like, Adam, you know what, this is a good opportunity.
Let's promote agent provocateur.
Yeah.
Because you do a show with an NHL agent who, how long has Alan been an agent?
30 plus years in the NHL.
Long time.
His first client was former least assistant coach Dean Chenoth.
This is his first NHWF.
Chenoweth.
Chenoith, excuse me, yes.
Chonwith, Ivo was, yeah.
Didn't he also like, yeah, he's, he did Aliash, he did a leak.
He did, you know, he did so many, years and years.
Yeah, many players.
Flurry for his whole career.
Yeah.
He's been steadfast that the taxes thing is not a thing.
It's not a thing if you're with the right agency.
And the thing is, so in Canada, at least, I don't know what the California thing is.
In Canada, there's something, and I'm not going to get into the thing.
You can put your money in a fund and you can unlock it when you're retired and therefore you don't get taxed at the same rate or whatever.
So you can bring the taxes down.
In California, I don't know what the rules are there, but there's a way to do that in Canada.
Actually, the NHL is lucky.
The NHL allows you to do this.
the NBA for players playing in Canada will not allow you to do that.
Well, Alan lives in California.
Yeah, and Alan lives in California.
And, you know, not every agency, like Octagon's different because they actually have a tax
management, money management arm.
Well, and who does they manage?
Yeah, exactly.
Just, you know, Janus.
Janus, Steph Curry, I'm pretty sure.
Yeah, it's pretty big names.
They don't, other agencies just don't have that.
Steph Curry, who, by the way, plays in California?
Yes, he does.
And has made a lot of money, consequent.
I don't think the San Jose Sharks are enough of a Stanley Cup contender based on the other teams that Larkin has there for him to be on the initial list.
That's valid.
It feels like he ranked the top 10 teams in America that are the best chance of the Stanley Cup.
Yeah, I would agree.
That's what the list is.
But what I was surprised by was Boston not being on that list.
That was the one that surprised me.
Really underrated start.
Yeah, they're a hot start.
But I wouldn't like, I think there's a step down from those teams.
I think then you get to the Boston San Jose tier of teams.
But okay.
And I agree with you, Jeff.
But when you say this,
or my,
if I was pitching this to Dylan,
I would say,
listen, man,
yeah,
they're not there yet,
but like if you got there,
since you're a top line center,
that is a team that needs a top line center.
San Jose needs a second line center,
probably a little bit more
a veteran presence on the second line.
But Boston could really use you
and you're going to play next to pasta
and J.J.
Peturca.
Like,
forget pitching it to Dylan.
If I'm Dylan,
if I'm Dylan,
I mail a burlap sack full of rotten fish to whoever published that list.
Helen St. James.
Well, okay, maybe, perhaps not.
She seems lovely.
But I've finally just started putting this behind me.
I'm actually playing okay and the team's not absolutely awful.
He's struggling.
Yeah, but.
He's got like two points.
Yeah.
And they all came in the first game.
But he had his moment, right?
He had his moment and people aren't talking about it as much.
And now it's right back there.
So she's just doing her job and bless her for it.
But if I'm him, I'm like, son of a gun that this is out there.
Right.
But I think he's trying to get traded, right?
Right.
Is there a way of letting those teams know without just blasting it into the public?
Once he tells his GM, Sean Horcroft,
John Horcroft's got to go to these teams and then the teams are going to tell people and it's going to get out.
Someone's going to say it.
Would you not also say, Jesse, that it's good PR for him to say,
I'm moving. I'm making it easier for the Red Wings. It's now the Red Wings problem.
Well, that worked out great for the other guy.
Well, with the Simon Evanston stuff in the background, it's a plausible argument.
It is. And I'm going to get to him next because CJ mentions him in his, it's not a trade board,
but it is a trade. Here's what I'm hearing on people.
Well, you're talking about Edvinson? Because I'm talking about Hallibon.
Well, okay. Oh, I gave you lots of teams. Oh, they haven't offered me a package I like, so
freak off. Well, but when Philadelphia calls or New Jersey calls in the off season,
apparently both called Detroit and both were told to fly a kite,
you've missed your window.
I'm surprised they were told anything.
There was no one in charge.
He allowed three teams.
This is still when Eisenman was in charge.
Remember, he did ask for that trade request while Eisenman was still there.
He allowed three teams.
And I think the bigger the list gets, the more he's thinking,
well, that'll put pressure on management.
What do you mean, I've given you a third of the league and you still can't get it done?
That's on you.
That's how I think they're going to try to spend this.
Whether or not you believe that,
So you're going to put pressure on me, the guy in charge of making the deal.
And you're an interim GM.
Which is to say you're going to make it harder for me to make a deal.
Anyway, practices at 11.
See you there.
Okay, let me give you the other side of that.
Okay.
You're the interim GM.
You desperately wanted to be the GM.
Chris Illich keeps saying publicly how you're not going to be the GM, but damn it,
you're going to try to prove it.
Sure.
And so Dylan Larkin knows that as Sean Horcom
makes a great trade for the Detroit Red Wings here.
That could make his career as a general manager right now.
So make his life as easy as possible.
Make it as easy as possible for Sean Horkoff to get the most forward.
But he doesn't want to just leave.
He wants to leave and play with the Monstars.
Practices at 11.
Okay.
Jersey's in your locker.
Now on the Simon Edvinson front,
I wanted to read this to you guys because I was curious about this.
Still not playing.
There's a few guys on this list we're going to get to throughout the show.
But Simon Evanson, to me,
we hadn't heard anything since Fridge dropped that bomb report a couple Saturdays ago in headlines
where he was like, well, he prefers to be traded.
And then he was with, I think, Furlunda training.
Was he not?
I believe so.
Because that's the one outside Gothenburg.
Do I have that right?
That is the one with the Christmas colors.
That's right.
I do like those jerseys.
So here's what CJ had to say.
Still unsigned coming off a season in which he played 22 minutes a night.
Not to mention attending Red Wings training camp without a contract in September.
Edvinson seems inclined to turn the page and have a fresh start.
As much as the organization would rather hold on to a big defenseman who gets around the ice extremely well and profiles as a cornerstone piece, that may be untenable if Edmondson's position doesn't change ahead of the December 1st signing deadline for restricted free agents.
One industry source said of the ongoing stalemate, it's a little more complicated than it appears.
Edmondson could certainly net Detroit a massive return in a trade, even if the acquiring team would be making.
making a deal knowing they're in line to give this guy a monster age, excuse me, players
of his age and ability aren't often available for trade.
So it sounds like he's still like, you know what?
I just don't want to be here either.
I keep going back to this and I feel like I'm alone.
Is Alexander Nekishian in witness protection?
He's the next one on the list.
Don't worry.
We'll get to him.
No, I know.
But he's so, like he's not even a like a story priority.
You know what I mean?
Like Edvenson, Edvinson, Edvinson, there's urgency there.
Hurricanes are like, they're just doing their thing.
I think Nekysian, you feel like he's going to have to come back and just play.
Well, both these guys, by not being signed, and I don't know the math on this,
maybe one of you guys knows a little bit more about this, but whatever Edinson and Neketian signed for,
with whatever team they sign it with.
Their cap hit's going to be weird.
Remember Nealander?
His cap hit was like 10 or something, but he was, but it was actually 6.9 or something like that.
Yeah, the longer they wait, the more complicated this is going to get.
Yeah, they have the room, though, don't they, Jess?
They've got the room.
Hurricanes have.
Hurricanes.
I think Detroit's got a lot of room.
Detroit has the room.
I think Detroit's got some room.
Right, but what about their trading partners?
Yeah, they have $19 million in current cap space.
Right?
So every day you don't do this, you're making a lot of,
it more complicated for a trade partner.
That's a good point.
That's a really good point.
Yeah.
Even if you signed him to a seven-year deal and traded them, you still would be, that would be a lot.
Imagine those two get traded for each other.
That'd be fascinating.
It would.
Some sort of package that, you know?
I just can't see the can't see the canes drop in 11 million on a 23-year-old.
I can't imagine them.
Who's their highest-paid player?
I think it's like, fetch?
Isfetch?
Or a-oh?
And it's like nine.
Yeah.
And that's why Niketian's not signed
because he wants to be the guy that makes over 10 there.
We've trashed the Red Wings a lot and for good reason.
With Edvinson, I'm still very much on the side of a boat's a boat.
The mystery box could be anything.
It could even be a boat.
I don't think they're a rock bottom rebuild team.
They're not.
I think Edvinson fits their window perfectly
and they should move heaven and earth to keep this player.
and he doesn't want to be there anymore, Steve.
And he has no trade protection.
Man, that sucks.
You're restricted free agent.
Well, I don't know who's giving all these guys advice.
Your jerseys in your locker practices at 11.
Yeah, but the difference...
They're offering him $7 or $8 million and he's worth $10.
Yeah, that's garbage.
Which is what they were doing.
That's garbage.
So I will...
I obviously give him a lot more leeway than I give the other guys under contract because
they're being silly geese.
I was going to say what if he missed the boat
just in terms of he's seeing everyone get paid
and get all this money.
But the reason he missed the boat is not his fault.
The reason he missed the boat is because the team
was completely asleep at the wheel
and there was no one in charge.
It's a complicated situation.
I believe the date is September 23rd
when Edmondson was first offered a contract.
I'm on his side with these negotiations.
Me too.
I think with no GM in charge,
I don't know how he could have had any confidence in the organization.
And they just seem to be unwilling to pay him the new price that it costs for a very young, talented defenseman.
And I think he should hold out until he gets that money because he's worth it.
And it's ridiculous that you wait that long to even offer him something.
And at this point, you still just don't pay him that.
Are they leveraging exactly what I just said?
Like, yeah, you want a trade.
But because your cap hit is prorated or however it,
works. It's going to be inflated for this season. He didn't want a trade. He showed up to training
camp. No, no, I know that. But now he prefers a trade and the Red Wings are like, okay, well,
there's our number, which doesn't appear to be getting any better. And if the longer you wait,
it's going to be more and more difficult to find you a trade partner. That's, if I'm Edmondson,
I'm like, okay, that's not my problem. Because you've treated me so poorly through this. I agree.
I was here ready to perform for you and I just wanted to negotiate a deal and nobody was around all summer to do it.
And then when I show up to do it, you don't give me something that's adequate.
So I do agree with you, Jesse, but here's the thing.
There's no Edvinbucks.com.
He's losing more money than Connor Hella.
He is.
So Hella buck's got an $8.5 million deal and every day doesn't show up to work.
It's $39,000.
Edvinson, we all agree, should be making 10 or more, right?
So this season, he should be making more than Connor Hellebuck.
And every day he doesn't play, even though it's hypothetical dollars, like he's not actually losing dollars in a contract that he's agreed to.
He's losing more money per day than Connor Hellabuck.
This guy's losing like $45,000, $50,000 a day, probably based on what he should be making.
So he is losing something by holding out.
Yes, and I think that is worth it to him for this situation.
Like I'm agreeing, I'm on his side that, yeah, don't come back for whatever lowball money that Detroit's willing to offer you because it's not worth it.
Like you should be paid at this top dollar and you need to hold out until you get that.
And the thing is, the thing with Hellebuck is that he's actually getting paid that we don't know that Evanston was offered anywhere near that.
Well, he's going to get it back too.
Yeah, and Evanson, well, not get it back, but he's going to return.
turn to making money very soon.
Yeah, yeah.
I don't know.
I think like Detroit is messing up this side of this negotiation here.
Yep.
Yep.
Because how do you not want this player?
Every team in history has been like, okay, our first pairing very young, talented defenseman,
let's sign him.
Why are you the exception to the 100 year history of guys signing contracts?
What the hell's going on?
See, that's spoken like a guy born in the 90s.
Yeah.
A long time ago, they're like, here's a jacket.
Yeah, yeah, I should say.
And we'll take your jersey back at the end of the season so we can restitch it.
I should say the 20-year history of the cap.
Yes.
Yes.
Yes, generally hyperbole.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But yes.
It's a good comedic device.
It's funny.
Like, it got real loud with Red Wings Dumerism.
And it quieted down a little bit.
And I just wonder when it's going to pick back up.
And is that moment currently right now?
Well, I think they do need to get this sorted out.
I know that's like a hot take at him.
But like, here's what quiet.
They don't look great.
What quieted the waters was Dylan Larkin comes back.
Literally one game.
Has a good game.
I don't know what his stats are right now,
but Justin keeps trying to trade him to me in fantasy,
which tells me he's not doing that great.
Okay.
He tried to get J. Cottinger off me and I should have had him like.
He offered me Larkin and.
for Robertson.
He offered what?
Larkin and Tuck for Robertson.
Jason?
Yeah, he's like,
you'll, yeah, not Nick, Jason.
He's like, you'll get more points in the aggregate.
I'm like, I'm not sure.
He got two assists last night,
so he's one goal, four assists on the year,
Larkin is.
So what it's, it's Larkin coming back,
taking his booze,
scoring a goal and getting an assist in the first game,
and then a week later, they signed a Brinket.
That was good.
Quiet's the waters.
But that has a time limit.
It does.
So you got to give Detroit fans something to get excited about
and whatever the return for him is going to be
is going to be very, very interesting.
I feel like this list coming out just reminds people they're mad.
Yeah, yeah.
You know what I mean?
Yeah, Horcault.
Oh, I forgot to be mad at you for a day.
You ever forget to be mad at someone?
Oh, yeah.
But then you remember and you're mad again?
Yep.
Yeah.
It happens.
Whoa.
Fellis.
Yes.
You guys are looking really cool.
Did you change something?
Well, on my face, I have my Warby Parker sunglasses.
Oh, my goodness.
Adam, you as well?
I do too.
In Brown.
Well, I gotta get cool like you.
Well, what happened to yours?
You got some too, didn't you?
Yeah, but I didn't bring him for this reason.
Well, that was, you know?
Great job.
Stephen.
Now, here's the thing about, about, I was going for a bit and you're like, where's yours?
Besides the fact.
Besides the fact.
He was like, hey, you didn't do your thing.
He didn't bring it.
What the hell's wrong with him?
Jesse looks like a jazz musician.
I'm not going to lie.
He looks like he's going to the club tonight to play saxophone.
Probably.
And here's the deal.
He's got the no slip nose pad, and you get this on every single one, because if you're sweating, which I often do,
sometimes sunglasses can slip and slide off your face.
Not these ones.
Also blocks 100% of UVA and UVB rays.
That's also really important for your eyeballs, you see?
Because when you put sunglasses on, it opens up your retina.
And if you don't have that protection, it can be bad for your eyes.
But not with these ones.
And you can go to a Warby Parker near you to check out which glasses you like.
And then you could go online if you wanted to and get an additional 20% off.
when you buy the second pair of glasses.
So I wear that's made for you right now
by one pair of glasses.
You get you 20% off any additional pair
at Warby Parker.com slash SDK.
That is W-A-R-B-Y Parker.
com slash SDK.
That's 20% off additional pairs
when you purchase that extra pair,
Warby Parker.com slash SDK.
Hockey season is back,
which means your schedule
just got a whole lot busier.
Ours definitely did.
Yes, it did.
I mean, Jesse's at the games all the time.
Steve's up late doing LFRs.
I'm doing streams and Steve's doing streams.
It's just crazy.
It's fun though.
It's amazing. We're very, very lucky, but here's the thing. If you got a busy life and kids and things going on,
Factor makes real meals, all fresh, never frozen, always cooked in ready in minutes, and they're healthy.
When time's tight, this is what you need. We're talking chicken pesto, steak with veggies,
roasted salmon, meals that feel like they were cooked for you, not by you, and they're delicious.
You had me at pesto.
Isn't the pesto? I know it's great. Real food, great flavor, and the kind of meals that actually support the work you
are putting in to your life. So if time or cost or effort or holding you back from eating better,
Factor just took all of those off the table. And Jesse, I know you love them every time you go to the

Now, Nikitian, by the way, just since you brought him up, his first full NHL season was memorable.
However, it's been a difficult season as the RFA is unable to agree to a new contract with Carolina.
He profiles as an all-around defenseman with good-sized skating ability and his offensive output in the regular season, hints at an ability to become an even more
impactful defenseman as he adjusts to the NHL game.
However, with minimal service time and very few CBA afforded rights, he's basically
at the mercy of the hurricanes to deal him elsewhere before resuming his career in North
America.
And that tells me, sign a short-term bridge deal and just get back to work.
Right?
Like, the reality is the players 20 years ago collectively bargained most of their rights,
their early career rights away.
And the players union since has done dick all.
to change that because they don't give a fuck.
And so what Nikitian is facing at 25 years old,
this is a key pivotal season,
come in, play on a Stanley Cup contender again,
maybe go win another one.
And maybe you have to play two more years after this one
or they deal you in the off season.
He's actually on the team
that all these players are saying
they would accept a trade to.
Yeah.
All he has to do is, like,
I'm sure they're offering them shit.
I'm sure it's like 6 or 7 million
Yeah
But he also
But he's played a season too
I know he's probably looking at
What's his name?
I keep getting
Zeev Boeh?
No well not Zeev
But the guy in Anaheim
Lino
Luna
Luna and going
Yeah that guy had like 100 shifts
And he got 6 million
Different scenario though
I watched two rounds
Or I streamed two rounds
Of Hurricanes hockey
And he was not
Incredibly important
to that run.
Like he was good, he was fine.
He was a third pair defenseman for them.
You know, so the hurricanes are offering him
what they think his value is to the hurricanes.
They're not worried about the rest of the teams in the league
and they're well under the cap
and there's still a very good team and there's no rush.
Jesse, I'm curious what side you're on on this one.
Do you take the cane side a little bit more on this one
or are you like, no, no, they could offer him more.
I understand why he's fighting for his money here.
I just don't think there's as much leverage like in the Edvinson situation where you kind of know how talented that player is and what he is deserving.
I think in terms of what the hurricanes need, like, Nekishin isn't that much of an impact player that Edmondson could be.
And I don't think anybody's accepted that Neketian's at that level.
So the money that they're offering shouldn't be like an overwhelmingly giant long-term contract.
And I don't know specifically what he's looking for.
Like that would kind of tip the scales for me.
Like I don't think we've heard any of the offers that have come out on a new agent on Nikishin's side.
Is it is it he wants seven million and they're offering him four?
Is it he wants 12 and they're offering him eight?
I'd love to know that side of it.
Wasn't the number nine?
I don't know.
Or something.
That's still high.
I still think that's high.
I still think that's high.
It's just because it's a season, right?
Yeah.
Well, and also like, again, he does not.
I don't think he brings.
$9 million a season in value to the Carolina hurricane.
I don't think so much to pay that man.
He's going to be worth it with the cap going up.
Nikisha and I am unsure of that.
So I understand why Tulski doesn't want to pay him just whatever he wants because I don't
know if that contract is actually worth it.
And I think that negotiating power there is all in Tulski's hands.
But I'd love to hear what number Nikitian's at and what number Tulski's at.
And that's the thing with the Keynes too, like everything we hear behind the scenes is that once
they've made up.
their mind, they're not moving.
And it pisses other teams off to no end.
You could call them a month later and be like,
have you moved on that?
And they'll be like, no.
I don't often take this side,
but like his camp should be noisier.
Oh.
You know?
Just get him,
get his name out there a little more.
Larkin,
that leak comes out and I'm like,
shut up.
And Hella Buck says his thing and I'm like,
shut up.
And then you like a little Niketian in there,
a little sprints of Niketian?
Yeah.
Well, like we're talking about,
we don't even know what he wants.
Yeah.
We should probably know what he wants.
That's not out there at all.
You're not leaking nothing to nobody?
Kind of makes me think he's going to just stay in Carolina.
Me too.
I do think it's going to,
I think there's going to be a capitulation there.
It makes more sense.
Come on.
He's got shit.
Yeah.
He's got nothing.
Brother,
they don't need you.
You got to sign for something.
If Florida's older, right,
and then they do have some good young players
and they're playing fine,
but they are,
if everybody were to look at it
at the beginning of the season,
we're like,
well,
we think it's going to be
Florida Carolina in the East final,
probably.
I think Carolina would rather
die than give him to Florida.
No,
that's not what I'm saying.
Oh,
go and go and be the team
that actually beats Florida.
Because remember,
Florida's the ones that's been saying,
well, you didn't beat us though.
Right.
So go do that.
Pump your value.
Two straight Stanley Cups,
even two straight finals.
You're laughing.
Somebody will trade for you.
Okay.
Leifes.
play in Columbus last night.
Corrill Marchenko makes his return to Columbus, gets booed.
He scored on both teams.
Eventful night.
And before the game, Adam Fantilli, we can play the clip if you want to.
But Adam Fantilli had some things to say.
And, you know, everybody's talking about the Matthew Nyes comments before and after the game.
And I think Matthew Nyes, we can talk about him.
Love that man.
We'll always love him.
But it sounds.
like the Columbus blue jacket.
If Matthew Nyes isn't over it,
I don't think the blue jackets are either.
That makes sense?
Hmm.
So expand.
I'll read this.
I'll read this to you.
Adam Fantilli before the game.
He said he has his reasons.
And I'm happy we got guys who want to be here.
It would have been a nightmare
having a guy who didn't want to be here all year.
I'm happy we got that trade done
when we did and we got guys that want to be here.
I really hope Jesse is able to,
he's struck.
I've got the clip up here if we want to use the Twitter.
Because it is actually, it sounds worse than how Adam read it.
Well, because he also says that guy was on my line and it's hard not to take that personally.
And then he hit the shit out of them too.
So we can't play that one.
Okay.
Yesterday I was, so I was thinking about this.
I know a lot of Lee fans are victory laping this today.
Well, let them.
For God's sakes.
For God.
I mean, guys, we don't get anything.
I know you're the.
blue jackets and you don't get anything either. Listen, we're both miserable.
In any other year, Nyes would have had a hat trick last night.
Yes. You would have been thrilled this morning if it had gone your way. Let us have this. Please,
just let us have this. You have 2020. Let us have this. Okay.
That's a good point. I didn't have it in me last night to go in on the blue jackets and their fans.
Well, why would you go in on the fans? The fans have done anything wrong.
I know, yeah, but like chirping.
Oh, okay.
Well, I get it.
And it's, dude, it just sucks.
And it's another guy who wanted out.
Yep.
And the way this game began is how I thought this game was going to go.
Because do you remember Patrick Linae talked his shit?
And that night, the Blue Jackets tried to kill that man.
They beat the dog shit out of him.
And if I'm not mistaken, they won the guy.
game against Montreal.
They basically said, oh, we have a bad culture.
Actually, no, you're the bad culture.
And they were talking their shit in the media because he was talking his shit.
And he didn't want to be there and we don't want guys who don't want to be here.
It sucks that they have to have this conversation annually.
You shouldn't have to have this conversation annually.
And they were beating the brakes off that guy.
This game, they score first.
You can tell it means the world to them.
That was a crazy, Sally.
And the fans are going nuts, and they boo them every time they touch the puck.
And they go out meek as lambs.
And I was like, oh, my God, I don't even have the heart.
It was, that's sad.
That's, that's, that should be the biggest game of your year or year so far.
Well, I think it was.
That should be your biggest performance of the year so far.
It was not.
Holy.
You allowed five straight goals?
That's not it
And Rick Bonus by the way
We'll get to him
Looks physically uncomfortable
Well he's 73
I'm sure he's got some makes and paints
But do you think
Firing Rick Bonus
Solves the problems of the Blue Jackets
Because I think it's a roster issue
I don't know if they're talented enough
I
I don't think it would hurt
You're right that I don't think
It fundamentally fixes a lot
That's wrong with the team
It's
being, it's got a suck showing up to work as a blue jacket right now.
Yes.
Yes.
And we're going to play his clip later because I got to show you this, this shit.
Or we can play it now if you want.
Yeah.
So at the bottom there, Jess, you can see it.
Eric, it was Ed Francis, CBJ that's got it.
And it's a clip taken literally from his phone on the press conference.
But, you know, Rick Bonas has started, and we'll come back to the Leafs end of this.
Rick Bonas started this season tearing the paint off the wall.
He ended last season tearing the paint off the wall.
And now he's trying to come out as, oh, shucks guy.
No, no, no, we're going to be fine.
And what he said after the game, beyond what you're about to hear is,
I didn't see this coming.
I thought we had some good pregame meetings.
Now, go ahead, Jesse, play the rest of this clip from Ed Francis.
Coach has been talking in the last couple of days.
This whole culture thing, it's, honestly, it's good in there.
And I know I'm saying that after a bad game.
But that's no longer an issue in that room.
There's good guys in there.
And they care a lot. Now I know it's coming after a game like that. I get that.
I'm not worried about the culture in the room at all anymore.
And so that's a dead subject. I believe in those guys. Do we need more from individuals?
Absolutely. We do. We had six power plays tonight and our top end guys didn't get a point.
And saying that, I thought Zach Wrenski was the best player on the ice by fire for both teams.
I thought he was outstanding. Charlie Coil.
just leading by example.
It's in there.
We've got to get more out of some certain guys without a doubt.
So does that have to come from the room?
Yeah.
And from us, right?
So you have six power plays and you don't score a goal
and your top end guys don't get a point.
Okay, then we better look at what we're doing
and who we're putting out there in those situations.
So we're going to have to change that up.
We're changing that power play out.
but again, it's a good group, and we'll figure it up.
So that's a watershed moment for the Columbus Blue Jackets,
that press conference.
I know Adam is rolling his eyes at the gosh gee Willickers of it all.
I got something to say to what he said there.
Not about the Leafs.
I don't care about who he thinks is the best player on the ice.
He goes to bat hard for his guys.
He shouts out individuals.
He shouts out the team's biggest star.
He shouts out Charlie Coyle, who I think is pretty consistently an underrated player.
He's very good for them.
Is that his first goal of the season?
It was Christensen's.
I don't know if it was Coyle's first goal of the season.
But he goes to bat really hard, and he says, now I've yapped so much, but it was like will and proof.
Yeah, I believe in these guys.
It was Coil's first goal.
It was Coal's first goal.
So we'll improve, goes to bat for them.
It was a horrible, horrible, horrible game.
And every single fan wearing a Blue Jackets jersey left and went home disappointed because of how that went.
Like you can hang your hat on, yeah, but they hit Marchenko a couple times.
And that was, that's basically it.
If that turns their, if their season turns around from here, but full steam ahead.
If they keep playing like this for another few weeks,
you have to look at a coaching chain.
Well, the way I was going to intro,
the bonus part of this is how many more minutes does he get?
How many more hours is he the head coach of the Blue Jackets?
Minutes.
I don't think we're in the weeks area anymore.
Oh, so.
And I had the glass half full approach.
This is a guy who a week ago said,
I've never been 30th in the league
in goals against or whatever they were.
And he was talking about culture issues
and a week later the culture is fixed and it's fine.
Rick, you were the coach
of the 93 senators.
You were dead last.
You've coached worse teams than this.
Isn't that incredible?
Yeah.
By the way, he might not have been 30th
because we're not 30 teams back then
but they were fucking last.
And they were awful.
We were in kindergarten wearing
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle shirts
when this guy is coaching an NHL team
and he's still doing it.
And so now he's sitting there
because I think he realizes
and they must have talked to him
and said, Rick,
if you keep saying
the dressing room's broken,
you're going to lose those guys.
From people we've talked to,
they already said they've lost him.
He's lost them.
And I know what Fantilli was doing
before the game.
He was doing the WWE thing.
Ra, rah, rah, rah, rah,
you don't be here?
He's trying to instill pride in the group.
He's doing what he should be doing.
Exactly.
And people are like,
well, he held out for more money.
I'm like, he deserves the money.
Whatever they paid him,
he's deserving of it.
He has not done.
No, he hasn't.
And he's never had more than 59 points in a season, but potential.
And every time he rolls into Toronto, he's an all-star.
Big potential.
Adam Fantilli was trying to instill pride in the group, but that's offset by the coach who keeps saying the group has no pride.
And now he's coming out after a game where they get their asses whooped.
Oh, my God.
Now, there were a couple of spots in that game where they dominated the Leafs.
That's every hockey.
Yeah.
There's no hockey game where one team plays 60 minutes and the other team doesn't show up.
I do want to just acknowledge that.
I do want to say it.
But you're right.
It was not a 60-minute drubbing.
They were never in it.
There were times that they had chances.
And they, you know,
had, beginning of the third.
I think at one point,
the least route shooting like 20 to 13.
And it was 29 to 21 on the shots all of a sudden,
score effects, all that stuff.
Rick Bonas has been telling us that it's rotten in there.
And now all of a sudden,
after the Toronto game,
where you got your ass beat at home,
now it's a good room because Charlie Coyle got a goal
and Christensen got his first goal.
Come on, man.
don't fucking bullshit me
and Blue Jackets fans are not stupid
look at what this team has put them through
the fact that they're still saying
their Blue Jackets fans publicly is a miracle
I saw a Blue Jackets fan
and they were authentically a Blue Jackets fan
go just relocate
and be done with it
and that's emotional
obviously that's emotional
and I don't want that and I don't think
most people want that but like
the logos got damage
and like the implication
and what I was saying about, oh, their season could turn around.
If it doesn't.
It could.
Of course it could.
But if it doesn't, you have to make a change.
Yes.
And I think it has to start with him.
I would say the only thing with this roster, and Jesse, I agree with you.
I think there's absolute roster construction issues here.
But are they this bad?
They're not old for, they haven't scored a power play goal in six games.
They're not this bad.
I was surprised.
They're not this bad.
I was surprised by the game Jet Greaves had.
because it's a really good goalie.
I think he had a shutout last week, right, Hayden?
You beat me in fantasy, you son of a gun.
Because Jack Greaves, you're getting his shoutout.
Yeah.
And, but like, you like a save on either the second or the third or the fourth goal
because you're just going one-on-one with a shooter.
But at the end of the day, those are all really good shooters who had a completely uninterrupted lane.
Yep.
And it's just target practice at that point.
I don't know what he's supposed to do on the Rosavik goal.
I don't really know what he's supposed to do on the Marchenko goal.
Well, I don't think there's anything you can do on the Marchanko goal.
That just happens.
Right.
So it is helpless.
It's a.
And I just,
I don't know what to point to as a strength.
Guys, Jesse,
I get a coach building himself back up,
but if you were a reporter and you've sat through many, many, many of these,
if you're sitting there after the game and you're covering the blue jackets,
not the blue leafs,
What are you thinking when he's making those comments?
How does that hit you?
I think he's trying to say the best thing he can to support his locker room in that moment
because he's gone to the well of these guys don't care
and is anybody going to show up too much that he couldn't keep going there.
So he's trying his best just to do something different
and support his team in a moment where they don't look great.
Speaking of moments that change everything,
and I forgot to mention this in the LFR,
can you imagine if that goal at the end of the first counted?
Yeah, a couple milliseconds away.
Yeah.
You go into the locker room with the lead, first of all.
And that is a crazy swing in the game.
It's tied heading into intermission.
You could have had the lead.
Leafs come out in the second period and immediately score four straight goals.
Right. But it didn't happen.
Yeah.
Don't forget, this is a team that's missing Fabro and Proverov,
so they get a little points for that.
But I just look at the roster and I say,
Don Waddell's been there for a while since 2024.
And to the surprise of maybe some people listening,
this is a cap team.
And I don't think they have the talent to be a cap team.
They're actually operating, I believe, in LTIR space with those two players out.
They're actually over the cap.
After trading Merzleekins.
And I think that is a ridiculous place to be when you have these guys on your roster.
And I feel like that's a GM problem.
So if we're talking about getting rid of Rick Bonas,
I am of the opinion that like, hey, sometimes just firing a head coach works.
It's weird how the NHLers respond to that.
We need to get rid of your your dad and get it in a new guy and just all of a sudden you're good again.
Like that's weird.
But sometimes it works.
But I think even more so there needs to be pressure on Don Waddell and the job he's been doing because I don't think it's great.
It's hard to disagree with that.
Hard to disagree with that.
Six mil on your fourth line is tough.
Yeah.
Like the cap situation is ridiculous.
So like right now.
was a drag on the team?
They're at $105 million of the 104 cap
because they, the LTIR of Ludstrom and Proverrov and Fabro.
Like that's for this roster.
Like you're spending $105 million on the on this?
Veronkov's an RFA.
Ken Johnson's an RFA.
Who's that at the bottom?
Del Bell Belouse.
Yeah.
Oh, Maticajuk's going to hurt.
Yeah.
I don't think
I don't think the people love
I don't know the Severson contracts
okay I guess but like
It's doable
We we I think we ripped the Proverov contract
When I was signed at 8.5
Which all these contracts looked a little different
In a new cap environment
But they're just stuck with
Look how many guys who are just making $6 million
$1.31 32.
That ugly middle of the
of the salary cap range
And just all for guys in the early 30s
Yeah, not good
By the way, when did Damon Severson turned 32?
Right?
What?
I have no idea.
What?
I would have never guessed that.
You could have given me 10 guesses.
The Blue Jackets had the best defensemen in the league last year, and they couldn't even make the playoffs with that.
And I don't want to do this death march, but like, why is he resigning there?
Well, and everybody's pretending like that didn't happen.
We're going to pretend.
I said this on the three of my saying.
We're going to pretend that Rorinski did.
We're going to pretend that Rorinski didn't ask for a trade and Thomas Harley wasn't a bluejacket.
People talk about delusion like it's a bad thing.
That's a life skill.
Well, we live it.
Yeah.
We know.
Of course.
No, I would completely lie to myself and say that that never happened.
I just think, I think with the Rorinski thing, like it was, I think him going back was hinged on them being good.
Yeah.
And him believing in the program.
And it's not that he doesn't love Ohio.
It's not that he doesn't love Columbus.
But at a certain point, how many.
playoff games is this man played.
You know what?
Ten?
How many have they played against the Leafs?
Oh, probably all those.
Those shouldn't count.
But anyway, he played 29 in his career,
and he hasn't played a playoff game since the year 2020.
So when was his last game in front of people?
2019.
19, yeah.
They went to the second round.
That's where they beat the lightning.
Notice that we've had this entire conversation without NICE.
Nice is a good spot, like, for their team.
I think that is a bright spot, I should say, for their team.
Yeah, except that he's not producing.
Another, so again, again, for the good teams, everything goes right.
For the bad teams, everything goes wrong.
It's not just about being bad, it's about everything goes wrong.
So I talked about what if you head into first intermission, and that's a goal and you have the lead, right?
And how that changes the game.
What if Matthew Nyes, I think it was in the third period, scores on Anthony Stollars,
but he doesn't.
Instead, he stopped, goes into a puck battle
with Troy Stetcher, takes a penalty, power plays over.
Like, for bad teams,
it's not just that you're bad,
it's that everything goes wrong.
I think Matthew Nise is going to win a Stanley Cup
in his career.
It's probably going to require him getting traded again.
Yeah, it'd have to be on the blue jackets.
It's going to be in the near future.
It's not until 2031.
I think he's absolutely capable of winning a Stanley Cup.
But like, what is wild to me and what is so interesting about his trade with Marchenko is how completely different they are as players.
Like you can argue about who is better.
Looks like Marchenko so far.
But stylistically, there's a wild difference.
And Marchenko creates.
Nice just doesn't.
And you do, I'm not saying he's not a hard worker.
He is a hard worker.
But there is, in order for him to have success,
the guys he's playing with have to get him in a position to succeed.
Totally.
And are Fantillion Johnson doing that?
Right.
But I think, like, Matthew Nyes is a bright spot for the organization to have him on the roster and on the team.
Totally.
Because he's a young player that signed who seems like it's a,
going to be a good soldier for Columbus, and that's everything that Marchenko wasn't for the
Blue Jackets. I think making that swap is a really good deal. Yeah. Yeah. I agree with you, Jess.
I just... It's all the reasons we didn't want to trade Matthew 9. Yeah. Like, let's not forget
all the entire summer of us not wanting to let go of this player. They now have that player,
and I think that's good for them. It's just, I think that's one guy and where are the rest of them?
Nothing about it looks right.
Mark Shig.
Him in a Navy jersey.
Weird.
Waring 89.
All of it annoys me.
I hate it.
Mark Shig said,
You have to work at the zoo now.
You said.
Yeah, you didn't quit.
Never committed to that.
I like that job, though.
Union, pretty good.
All right, Mark Shike.
Yesterday was Nize his first night out of a hotel excluding game nights.
He had his first home-cooked meal in a while.
Today was the first time driving himself to the game because, you know, you got to get an apartment.
You got to get a car.
You got to get all these things, right?
it's an adjustment.
And that's like a month.
Yeah.
Well, I mean, you're playing and you're practicing and doing all this stuff.
It's hard to do during the season.
Yeah, the player's never been traded before moving to a whole new city at the very, like hours
before the first game you're supposed to play with the Leafs.
Yeah.
Like, that's a tough situation.
Not surprised he's off to a slow start.
And I think they have something good for the next six, five years of his contract.
It's just, hey, you got to go through some growing plans here in the first 10.
But I would also say that the Leap's got the better player in the trade.
for right now, yeah.
And Coral Marchenko has five goals
and six to six and eleven games.
He is third on the team in scoring.
Obviously Matthews and Nealander are number one and number two.
And Easton Cowan and his four will get to him in a second.
Marchenko, more than just the points that he's gotten,
what I've noticed with him is they're doing a lot of what they're doing with Roscovick,
which is, hey, you carry that puck.
Carry that puck through the digital zone.
Go.
Go, we.
And they both do that.
And they both do it really well.
You know, we've been talking about how the D needs to move the puck a little bit better.
And what I've noticed is they do.
They have it at their own blue line and they simply leave it for Marchenko to take.
And he flies.
You don't have to make these Nick Lidstrom, Eric Carlson passes when you have one of the fastest players in the league just ripping up the ice.
Yep.
Right.
I really, I love him.
I love him.
And there was a lot of room for me to not love him.
Right.
What if that deal sucks?
Well, I like it.
It looks pretty good so far.
Early returns are good.
Let me go to bat.
Call up Stephen Lawrence.
You stink?
You stink?
He's been really good for you in the H.L.
I'll call him six goals.
Six goals.
And he's a great defensive forward.
Call him up.
Call him up and play him.
They should have done that last night.
Yeah.
Yes.
Like against the Leafs,
why not just fucking play Andre, Nise, and Lorenz.
Andre got a point, I believe.
Yeah.
Like, where's Lorenzo?
I don't know.
That was silly.
That's GMing.
That is GMing.
Like Rick Boness isn't making that call.
Easton Cowan.
I don't think they can afford it, Jesse.
Yeah, that's also, like, what the fuck?
Why are you capped out?
Coles, flu, COVID-19, RSV, other scary acronyms.
And I'm assuming the RSVs means respiratory symptom.
Really sick, very.
Yeah, yeah.
And, hey, how about this?
Smelly animals.
All taken care of by air pura.
That's right. I have a smelly animal and it's taken care of by my air pura. I have my hoose.
So here's the thing about air. Not only does it pull all that stuff out of the air, you know, especially too in the winter too.
It gets cold here a lot earlier than it does for a lot of you. Some of us are in Canada. Some of us are not.
And windows and doors tend to stay closed more, which means you need something in there clean in the air.
Because if you have a smelly dog, because it rained outside, that can penetrate your nostrils.
And also, kids bring home things too, right, Steve?
They do and also very underratedly smell and also cause smell.
Dust and pet dander, mold spores, smoke and indoor pollutants.
We swear by air puras and you will too.
Remember, you can live weeks without food.
You can live days without water.
Try living minutes without air.
Air pura makes every breath count.
Don't actually try living minutes without air.
It was just like figuratively.
But either way, call 1866505-7872 or visit airpura.com to speak with their air quality experts.
and don't forget to use the promo code

We can always save you a little money
and that's our gift to you.
Clean air, better price.
Hockey season is back
which means your schedule
just got a whole lot busier.
Ours definitely did.
I mean, Jesse's at the games all the time.
Steve's up late doing LFRs.
I'm doing streams and Steve's doing streams.
It's just crazy.
It's fun though.
It's amazing.
We're very, very lucky,
but here's the thing.

I know it's great.
Real food, great flavor, and the kind of meals that actually support the work you are putting in to your life.
So if time or cost or effort or holding you back from eating better, Factor just took all of those off the table.
And Jesse, I know you love them every time you go to the Leafs.

Easton Cowan, who had a great game last night, told Sean McKenzie, we can't play this clip, obviously.
So much fun playing with Austin.
Justin Matthews being a part of the team with him.
Unbelievable leader.
Just how positive he is every day.
He just really sticks out to me.
And he helps young guys like me and everyone on the team.
He's been great for us.
He's been a stone for us for sure.
And Jim Hiller on Easton Cowan,
which you could never imagine Barubei saying this.
So remember, when I complain about Jim Hiller, it's on a curve.
He said he's exceeded my expectations and I had high expectations for him.
Easton Cowan had a goal and two assists yesterday,
including a short-handed fucking rip.
And you know what's amazing about the Leafs,
short-handed this year, and we can talk about that too.
They're even.
That's crazy.
So they've allowed a short-handed goal this year, and they've scored one.
The Leafs are even through 11 games.
I think I said in the video, that's a crazy thing to do over the span of 10 games.
It's actually 11.
Yeah.
Like, that's, it's completely un-
I thought you really undersold the Leafs power play in the LFR.
Yeah?
Like, they're the second greatest power play through 10 games in the history of the NHL.
I don't think you would ignore it.
Well, penalty kill, penalty kill.
I remember.
Oh, sorry, I said power play.
You were like, ah, the least power play has been phenomenal, has been really great.
They're even on this thing.
But it's the second greatest of all time.
So I didn't see that stat.
For anybody watching or listening right now, the stat I have on the screen is from the sports net broadcast.
It says highest penalty kill percentage, first 10 games of season says 77, 78.
That's when they started tracking the stat.
So this is the history.
LA through 10 games, the 98-99 Kings,
were 98.1%.
In second place is the Leafs at 97.4%.
Wow.
Is the Penguins, 97.1, 1112 penguins, and the 0506, Tambei Lightning are fourth, 96.5.
I mean, it won them the game.
Yes.
It straight up won them the game.
My number one criticism of the lease penalty kill is how often they have to use it.
Well, the six times technically.
One was like a couple of really short ones, but six.
It's too often.
Yeah.
But like it's, we're watching it get better in real time too, which is crazy.
Like in the Sharks game and last night in Columbus, because they've played two games since our last show.
They're a threat now.
Like at first it was just, all right, hunker down and everything.
No, they're a threat now.
I love that Hiller's thrown out Willie a couple times because it's not just, because he's not going to go out there and be the guy who's just blocking shots on the penalty kill.
It's not what he died.
No, he's a threat.
Now you, but he's going to be an escape route for those guys who are doing the dirty stuff.
And that's an interesting way to think about your penalty kill.
Did you hear the stat?
So I missed this stat, but did you hear this stat from the broadcast?
Give it to me.
Love it a good stat from a broadcast.
Easton Cowen.
How much time did he play on the penalty kill last year?
38 seconds.
I heard seven minutes?
Seconds.
Oh, was seven.
I thought it was 38.
Okay.
But I could be wrong.
Okay.
Who thinks who's right?
Oh, Steve's going to be right.
Steve's going to be right.
I was mid.
I got to look it up.
No, no, I could have been,
because I heard it and I went,
surely I heard that wrong.
And he was a dog penalty killer for the nights.
If Barube had done a little research into that,
now they were great on the PK last year.
Craig, what do you think about Cowan on the penalty kill?
I'm not using Evan on the penalty kill.
Craig, his name is, shut up.
Oh, my office.
No, he,
you need in the modern NHL, you need that dynamic.
Like, yeah, you need Nick Paul, you need Teddy Bluger, you need Colton Sissons.
But you also need a scoring threat.
And you lose that, by the way, by not putting Matthews on it.
So Cowan Nealander is your option.
And it was cool.
It was very cool.
It was extremely cool, man.
I mean, putting really good skaters out there, weird.
You guys think they break the all-time record?
Probably not.
Consecutive power plays killed
is held by the Washington Capitals.
They had 53 consecutive in 99, 2000.
And what are the Leafs at?
The Leafs are at 26.
Halfway there?
Okay.
Almost halfway there.
There are times where, like, okay, last show,
we wanted to go in on talking about how crazy McDavid's been.
And Adam said,
whoa,
now, hold off. There will come a time.
And we did it today.
And we did it today.
And it was the right call.
And then we could do it again this weekend if you want.
There are other times, yeah,
and I imagine we will.
There are other times where I'm like,
this player has to have a good game tonight.
or it's going to be a problem for them.
Oliver Ekman Larson.
Needed a good game last night.
He's lucky he had the best game of the season last night.
He was great.
He had an assist his first point.
They put him on a power forward role in the PK or power play at one point.
I was like, who is that?
No Jake McCabe last night.
And every defenseman, everyone stepped up.
Yep.
Everyone stepped up.
It was crazy.
And I'm going to give Morgan Riley his flowers later.
Uh-huh.
Oh.
He was outstanding.
Vintage Mo.
But the reason I bring up OEL is a stat that we found by accident last show.
So we were talking about Nikita Zadorov because Marco Sturm scratched him.
Healthy scratched him.
Didn't last night.
Because he has a problem with discipline.
And it sounds like Nikita Zadorov is very upset about that and so is his agent.
Bruins fans should be furious with this player actually.
Because I know it's Zadorov and you take the good with the bad and you want the big.
tough meany to be the big tough meany he's taken it's probably different after last night but
heading into last night since the beginning of the 24 25 season he has taken 18 more minor
penalties than the next closest player that's insane oh el we discover this by accident this is the
stat you since he became a leaf in 2425 is fifth in the league in minor penalties and second
among defensemen.
Yeah, and he needs to stop taking penalties.
He needs to stop taking it.
And I called this from like his first week as a leaf.
I'm like, yeah, buddy, you're getting the blue and white whistle.
There's no more of this Florida stuff.
Yeah, some of it's on him.
Yeah.
So they're probably still taking too many penalties.
And he's part of it.
He took one against the sharks.
And I had the stat.
Then he took one against the sharks.
And I'm like, okay.
Luckily, they win that game.
And then there's the Columbus game.
It's just something to watch out for, but he was very, very good last night and everyone stepped it up.
And there's some talk that I'm seeing out there about the Leafs doing some things that are unsustainable,
their power play is unsustainable, their penalty kill is unsustainable.
I think there are also some guys who are off to unreasonably bad starts who could very reasonably improve and OEL's near the top of the list.
IMO.
I'm H.
So the way I wanted to start the Easton Cowan thing
was by mentioning
that he's eligible for an extension
July 1st.
10.
Years.
Well, what do you think he's going to make?
Because he's making 900 grand right now.
He'll make 900 grand next year.
But guys,
the least better get him signed this summer, right?
It's looking like it'll be double digits.
I think that's where you have to start.
Yeah.
Really?
I would think so.
Based on the contracts that have been handed out and where he's trending with points.
He's on pace for like 80 points, is he not?
I know.
High 70s based on right now.
76. There you go.
I need to see it end there.
If that makes sense.
Yes.
But based on how this season is going, if he becomes a 70 point score or even like high 60s, then at 21, I think it's like it's a double-digit's contract.
If he ends up hitting that, yeah, I won't have any qualms with it.
Luckily, like they, well, luckily or unluckily, they won't have an opportunity to even sign him until July 1st.
You know, like, he deserves so much credit for the last couple wins.
I mean, five, four, and two look so much better than three, four, and two.
But when I saw Neelander and Marchenko with Nick Paul, I was like, okay, I understand the rationale here.
is Cowan ready to play with Matthews?
Because we know Rosovics playing with Matthews.
They're just bound and determined by that.
If Cowan doesn't work with Matthews,
your options are take away the special thing
that you're trying to make with that Paul line.
You're just getting out the blender again
and you're looking for frigging solutions.
Put the Ken out there.
You could.
We know he's not.
Right.
You could.
You could put whoever you want up there.
You could put Vinnie LaTierry.
You could.
Yes, you could.
You could put Marshall Refine.
You could.
Yes, you could.
But you can do whatever you want.
We know they're not going to do it.
He's in a position where if it succeeds, it fixes so much of the rest of the lineup.
And he's been great.
Listen, you don't have to go back and do this because I'm just going to tell you.
There was a guy on this desk who said, Easton Cowan and the Zach Hyman role might make a lot of sense next to Austin Matthews.
and that guy is me.
That had to be me.
It was me.
And you guys were like, I don't know.
I just want to say,
uh,
don't be doubting my boy.
People are throwing out crazy names with Easton Cowan.
So you used it Zach Hyne.
I didn't say,
I didn't say,
I didn't say,
I said,
go dig for pucks and get it to Austin is all I said.
Yesterday I saw Brad Marshan.
Yeah,
I don't know.
How about we let him get five years in before we start.
I don't like Brad Marchan.
He's getting into the Hall of Fame.
Yes.
Yeah.
I would.
That would be.
awesome.
No, I like Brad
Mershan.
Like player?
He's awesome.
I just hate what he's done
to my team.
Also,
seems like a really nice guy
as well.
Yeah.
Person.
Also kind of like him.
Yeah.
He's on the panthers.
Steve has a beef.
Steve and him have a weird beef.
That's personal more than anything.
We're cat beef.
Yeah.
Can you do the,
can you do your mighty,
mighty roar?
Uh,
uh,
Morgan Riley deserves some flowers,
guys.
Morgan Riley had a great game.
Nasty.
Nasty.
Nasty.
Nasty game.
A couple of,
Great assists.
And Michael Amato, who's a great follow on, Trudy, you should follow him.
Shotsworth, when he was on the ice, the last, he said this is the last four period.
So this is midway through the game.
Oh.
Okay.
This is yesterday and, sorry, part of yesterday's game and the game before.
Sharks, yeah.
Shots were 139 at 5 on 5 for the least when he was on.
He broke up the critical 2-1 late in the third against the sharks.
Yeah.
And he had a great assist on the net drive with the Nielander goal.
then he helped set up the other one, that Roselvic goal.
That pass to Roselvic was insane.
That was a gross game, man.
And made a huge shot block on one of the PKs.
Yeah.
He's, I am three.
Now, I do think it supports everybody's theory that Morgan Riley would be a great power forward in this league.
Sure.
He made that great pass to Roselvic.
He made that great, that the screen for Nealander's goal, right?
The drop pass in the screen.
Yes, and I should have made a bigger fuss in the LFR.
Yeah.
But that is what we need.
100%.
That's what we need.
Just do that.
Do that.
Great.
Good, great.
Everyone, everyone had a great night.
Routing for him, man.
Jesse.
Yeah.
It's your time to shine, bud.
Why?
It's your time to shine.
Talk about him.
What is this little?
Who's wearing this?
So this is, Leo, a couple of
Halloweens ago was a fireman.
Okay.
And you could also,
You could call him if you wanted a fire marshal.
Ah, yes.
Like Marshall Rify.
Oh, wow.
Put it on, Jesse.
Where did that come from?
Put it on.
And this is why.
I'm scared to wear this.
Why?
How many kid boogers are on this?
You know what?
That is actually not an unfair question.
Am I going to have, what a kid's always?
That's hand in foot disease.
Hand foot and mouth.
I've gotten that.
Hand foot and disease.
Hand foot and.
Hand in your butt disease.
That's actually what it is. That's pink eye. There's like two or three boogers. It's hand in your eye or hand in your butt and then your eye disease. That's that's pink eye. I don't trust things that any any child under like six years old. I don't really trust what they give me. I'll take it because I'm nice. But like it probably has some gross germs. Well, they are sticky. They're so sticky. They're always sticky. How are they so sticky? They're always so sticky. Jesse, if you ever pet your dog and then your dog's sticky and. And, you're so sticky. And, you're always sticky. And.
And your dog loves being sticky and rolls in the sticky.
And they love putting their hands in their mouths at times when you shouldn't.
Yeah.
We've actually had to tell Everley because when she gets nervous, she does this.
Oh.
Like, don't do that.
That's not good.
We don't.
Please don't do that.
That's not good for you.
I, Jesse, if you ever have kids at the baby shower, I will be just dropping off these things called boogie wipes, which are wipes.
They're like wet wipes, but they're for your nose.
Yeah.
And my nephew, Kean, God love them.
for the first year and a half of his life
just had a runny nose every day of his life.
How are they always snotty?
They just are.
It's just a faucet that you can't turn off.
Yeah.
Yep. Yep.
Marshall or FI, I thought, struggled at the first part of the game.
Yes, he did.
Good start of the game.
But I'm so happy that he got to have his first NHL goal.
And at the back half, I thought he had a good third period.
I thought Jim Hiller was throwing him out there to like, hey, we have a four-goal lead and then it was three-goal lead.
But like, I'm going to trust you in this situation.
It's good enough.
Go get some minutes in the NHL and show everybody what you can do.
And I thought he was solid third and he's rewarded with his first NHL goal.
Awesome stuff.
The goal is great, but what's going to keep him in the lineup is just, like you said, the solid play during the back half of the game where it's like, all right, rub guys out on the boards, get the puck out.
Yeah, and this is a guy who's not ever going to be a top pair defenseman.
I don't have weird aspirations for his career in that way.
Marley's.
But.
On the Marley.
What?
He's a Calder Cup champion, damn it.
But he's an intense individual.
Uh-huh.
And not unlike how Zach McKeown.
made an impact with his fist last night.
And Steve, you're right about McEwen in the preseason
where you were calling for him to make the lineup.
I thought he's been an effective, tough guy on that fourth line.
That fourth line has looked good just in terms of just their play on the ice, too.
I think Marshall Rofi can bring something like that on the third pair of a defense score.
Like, he is an outrageous skater, like, compared to what kind of a player I thought he was.
And then, like, you got, you got Bluger in the middle who's not.
exactly slow.
McEwen you're talking about.
Yes,
yes,
yes.
Like I'm talking
about the fourth line.
Yes.
But you have Duhame
who hits everything
that moves and skates really well.
And you have McEwen on the other side.
They might have found something.
Yeah,
McEwen is faster and more crafty
with his legs than what his career has shown
because he doesn't really translate that to points.
No.
But that's okay because he's in a fourth line role
and he's really tough
and he plays hard and he can get to places,
which is great.
I used to think I
irrationally love
Bogru
and I recently discovered
I only rationally love him
because I'm like
it should be McEwen
and it should be Latarian
you have a very reasonable
opinion of Bo Gru
when they call it
Letary I'm like Latry
I'm like letary
look in the lineup
I like him
and like Marshall Rify
I think like if we're praising
McEwen's skating
his skating isn't
where it needs to be
I don't think
maybe that'll come
with more NHL games
Rifi
This guy
Marshall
Marshall is also
So isn't that the dog in, what's the dog show where the dogs talk?
It is everyone's favorite copaganda.
It's Paw Patrol.
Paw Patrol, yeah.
The dog's name is.
Who's funding them?
It's what we need to know.
Yeah.
What commies are funding these people?
Hey.
That was an actual thing.
No, I don't think they would be funding Paw Patrol.
Yeah, you're right.
You're right.
But Marshall FI, I think it's cool.
It's awesome.
And I'm glad that this guy's getting interested.
Also, I have to say, when he scored, I was like, who the hell is that?
Because I didn't know his face.
So did Chris Cuthbert.
And I was like, man, that is a sharp.
chin, who is that?
That man is,
go look up Marshall Refai's chin.
I'm like,
that is a jaw, my man.
Go watch Chris Cuthbert's call
because he's like,
oh, it's the 6-2 goal
and it's Marshall Rify!
That was a Tuesday night
in October-ass goal.
Love that.
Also a little love for Troy Stetcher
who played 2625,
finished plus three.
Unreal.
Like, it was a,
it was a good game all around.
And I didn't trust it
until the very, very end.
Drew was,
I was on the stream and Drew's like,
hey, it's okay to just say that the Leafs are going to probably win this.
And I was like, no, it's not.
No, it's not.
I will not do that.
Are you in your mind?
What are you new here?
And he's like laughing at me.
I'm like, Drew, no.
Someone I'm who will remain unnamed is like,
the Leafs are going to blow this 5-1 lead.
And Marchenko, the game time goal is going to go in off Marchenko.
And then the 5-2 goal goes in off Marchenko.
And I was like, I'm going to beat you up.
The chat said it's going to be either 7-2 or 6-5.
That's what the score were.
Chat was pretty close.
They were.
Jesse,
just released over the course of this show.
If you look down at the bottom of our Leafs stuff,
a teaser for the hometown remix has gone out for all the teams.
I'm just going to show you the Leafs one.
And Greg, we should get a very funny tweet.
He's like all these teams putting out puzzles and stuff.
And like, oh, unlock our jersey by doing this.
He's like, guys, it's a Wednesday.
Like, we got things to do that.
And I have to give Greg a lot of credit.
He's right.
Leif's kept it simple, but this is their hometown remix.
What hell is this?
So this is your, you got to figure out the puzzle.
Jute Meetsing?
I don't know what that is.
It's a bunch of letters.
The jersey is a red duffel bag?
He's getting arrested in the jersey.
Oh, that's right.
Right outside after the event.
So how do we even begin to describe this to the audience that's listening?
It's a black, it looks black and white to me.
So they're going black again.
And they've put scrambled letters and the first ones are J-U-T.
Apostrify T.
should be happy at him. It's, it's black and cream. And this is BMX, BZT, BCPVU. Like, so we're supposed to unscramble this. Yep. And then what?
Then they still don't show you the jersey. Ah. Because it's just a, it's literally just a picture, Jesse. So even if you are smart enough to Taylor Swift Easter egg this, there's no possible way that you're going to know what the jersey looks like. Why are the crumbs on this jersey? What is this? Yeah, they could have run a lint roller over it. You're right.
This is the remix logo from Fanatics.
Solve it.
Hey, listen, I'm not a hater.
I'm excited for this jersey.
I hope it bangs.
I hope it slaps.
Apparently it's the logo that's on Center Ice.
Well, that makes sense.
If it wasn't, that would be like, why did you do that then?
Well, they did it for the 100 years.
Oh, yeah.
Okay.
But apparently that's also the logo they're going on.
I'm begging them to do a real, like, you know, they don't have to do it exactly the way it used to be.
But the 70s, 80s jersey, as much as that team didn't see a ton of success in the 80s,
those teams made the playoffs a lot, had some moments.
Like, we still fondly remember Boria Salming and Darryl Sittler and Landy McDonald, Mike Palmott's here, right?
Norm Olman.
And we have yet to see a remix jersey that even sort of references that.
and I'm waiting for that to happen.
I need that to happen.
Except for the gray one during the pandemic,
which was weird.
I used to in video games.
Always when I was...
Put you back to that?
I would...
Every night they dressed in that jersey.
Because it's been long enough now
that we've forgotten
that they weren't that great in that era,
and we've had worse era since.
And so what's cool
is that you could actually go back to that
and go, actually,
it's one of their more successful non-standing government.
It's gotten better in time.
I got the scrambled words.
So, shout out.
Do you run that through Claude?
What'd you do?
No, no.
Shout out Brandon Holmes on Twitter.
Ah, who has the decoded words for every NHL team.
On a Wednesday.
Yeah, Brandon, where do you work?
You did this.
I hope you have some office job where you just do this instead of pumping up shareholder value because this is more important.
So Brandon Holmes tweeted out all of the hometown remix codes to code it.
And I don't need to read them all.
No, you don't.
We scroll down and we will see that the Toronto Maple Leafs.
went with.
It's always about the leaf.
God.
Love that.
Hey, all right.
Love that.
That's what that Jute BMX word said.
Man, I'm so glad they're leaning into that finally.
Yes.
Finally.
Yes.
You get it now.
People are finally starting to use the Willie meme.
Always about that.
Straight up.
I do think they were listening to us, the marketing department.
Hayden wants to know what Minnesota is.
We own the night.
Oh.
You mean future Knight Quinn Hughes?
Ha ha!
Raspers-Anderson's going to look great.
We own the night currently, but soon we will trade him.
I'm trying to pick out which one's the worst one.
Chicago's is the River Set the Dress Code, which is okay.
Wait, why?
Dude, fully frosted, followed by Boom Goes the Canon.
Both of those suck.
Boom goes the Canon is pretty.
ridiculous.
Boston is just college hockey.
Can we go back to Chicago?
The river set the dress code.
Okay.
Do they mean when the river gets dyed green at St. Patrick's Day?
That's interesting.
Because maybe they're going to green jersey, which would be cool.
Yes.
They have had green jerseys in the Blackhawks before, correct?
No, I'm thinking of the red ones.
No, they do a same.
Do they do a green one?
Do they do a green one?
Do they do a green one?
Do they do a green?
Yeah.
I don't know.
Black, hot.
Maybe I don't know if I allusioned it in my head.
So sometimes I have a hard time.
Yeah.
What's a video game and what's not.
Yeah.
That's a thing.
They're nice.
Yeah, yeah.
They're nice.
Maybe that's what they're going with.
I like that.
Cool.
Montreal, always just sticking with tradition.
They went with gohabs go.
Well, that was creative.
The kings are we are all kings.
Taylor made for Smashville is Nashville.
They should do Taylor Swift.
Maybe it's for.
Oh.
I like the islanders.
what the tide brought in.
That's great.
That's good shit.
Yeah.
The Sends are going with a gold jersey because theirs is gold sends gold.
I think actually gold fits perfectly with their palette.
I like that.
Good for them.
Pittsburgh's, they could have done better with this.
They just went with what's old is new.
Yeah.
Like what?
Mario was better than Gretzky.
That's not a catchy phrase.
That's what it should have been.
Also, could you go back up for just a second?
Oh, sorry.
That's going to come back to bite them.
Who?
The blues.
Some things deserve another round.
What was that mean?
Well, if they miss the playoffs or get knocked out first round.
Ah, I guess.
Imagine if that's what the Leafs were.
Adam, you want me to go up?
The Philadelphia, the belt holes.
If they come out to Metallica for whom the belt holes with those jerseys on,
they do some sort of Sylvia Plath night and they do the bell jar.
What is that?
What?
What did you just say?
The American classic?
The bell jar?
I've never read the bell jar.
Belcher.
Wow.
Have you ever
heard of the
Belger?
Wow.
These guys
just
the
what's
Belger
let's Jersey
and Wedgie
over here.
Who's this nerd?
What is
first he's
complaining about
our sticky
kids and
now he's
throwing
literature we've
never heard of
that.
I can't
I got to
read a book.
We don't
have time.
I read lots of
books.
Not those ones.
I don't know
if it's an
American
class.
I'm taking
back.
Where's Sylvia
or was it
just something
that somebody
told you to
read once.
Sylvia
Platt is
from.
Jesse loves a signed high show.
She's English.
No.
Yes.
United States.
Let's go.
Okay.
American writer Sylvia Plath.
All right.
Now,
what other ones do we need to look at here?
What else we have?
So,
the bell jar was released.
No,
I think that's good for the reviews.
I like Forge in the Deep by Seattle.
That is good.
That is about the first thing Seattle's done that I like.
I think there's,
there should be we're into.
Name another.
We're into.
Let's get up to two.
I can bring,
up the remix jersey logos.
Hey, yo, the Crackin jersey was sick when it came out.
Give them that.
You know what?
You're right.
It's just the performance hasn't backed it up.
You're right.
Sick jersey.
You're right.
That's fine.
They took risks with it and I like it.
All right.
What do you got, Jesse?
It's going to take me a second, but I have some of the logos from the remix jerseys.
If you want to take a look at them.
Oh, I would.
Yeah.
No, I don't.
Extra.
It's just going to take me a second to bring them up.
You guys,
You guys are half to talk.
Oh, well, I can do that.
Do we want to, well, while he's, how long he's going to take you?
Because I can, I can roll into some auto quotes because they're poor.
Please do.
Okay, so first off, Tim Stutzelah, Julian McKenzie tweeted this and made sure that we knew,
because I think he knew we would be talking about it, that Brady was not mentioned here.
Tim Stutzla on seeing Lars Eller, another X-N tonight.
It was great.
It was awesome.
I think he's really happy about where he's at.
We definitely miss him.
he's a great guy in a room and a great player for us too.
It's always great seeing former teammates.
Was he specifically asked about Lars Eller?
Because if he was, I think that's just a nice answer.
And he, Claire Hanna confirms that Brady Kachuk,
Tim Stozler did not have dinner with Brady Kichuk.
Drake Batherson did.
And he said he hasn't seen his former teammate since his return to Ottawa.
And I want to make sure that this quote is correct
because it seems too insane for it not to be.
But hockey hot stove,
which is the Ottawa Senators,
one of the big,
big media outlets there,
Murray Pam says,
Tim Stozzles said,
I have a chef at home.
That's why I didn't go out for dinner.
Oh my gosh.
Wow.
Okay.
So Tim Stutz was pissed.
Hell, yeah.
Now,
I pulled up for this segment
the reason that Tim Stutzel is pissed,
which is the,
the wingman podcast with Keith Kichuk
and Matthew and Brady on it.
Should we play that clip?
Oh, yeah.
We should play that clip, right?
Because I think if we don't watch that clip, that's our, you know, you don't ever get to see into the dressing room.
This is us peering into the dressing room.
Tim Stoetzel is letting everybody know.
Drake Batherston said, listen, I will love the guy.
You can make your decisions, whatever being an adult, he's a friend of mine, whatever.
Tim Stutz is like, no, no, no, no.
That is, we are not, we are not friends.
Do not come to my town.
And he's, and I think it all starts here.
everybody tried to downplay this bullshit when it happened and we were all like this is weird that
we're all down playing this bullshit go ahead and play it jessie chin and i had a big cast on because
i broke my wrist or something in the olympics so yes that's what happens to play through injuries guys
holy christ this whole team oh my pinky hurts i'm out for six days dude that was coming at i knew
rate when he said that i'm like don't say it i'm like don't you say it i just had a bad sleep so i can't
play today. Oh my God. Disgusting. All right. Well, we're going to move on here.
All right. Leave it there. I can't play back to back. That is great.
Back to back. That used to not be whatever. But Grant Fure played 70 games in one year.
I think 76. 76. 76. 76. I haven't shot of 76 in a long gym.
All right. Now, just Jesse, go midway through that video where it's the group shot of them and bring it up.
What team does Brady Cichuk play for?
At the time, the, oh, yeah.
Why did no one point that out?
I didn't even notice it until this morning.
I never noticed this.
You go watch the wingman clip.
It's Barkoff holding a cup.
It's two Florida Panthers jerseys.
It's Team USA jerseys.
There's not a single Ottawa senator anything.
And there's Panthers stuff.
Now, he might have been recording in Florida.
The Panthers might have set this up.
They are at the Iceplex in Florida.
So they're at the practice where they're,
their practice the Panthers do, but Brady plays for the senators here.
They just hung up that jersey on a frigging wall with a little sticky there.
They could have done that with the Sends jersey.
That's crazy.
Or like really go heavy on the team USA thing.
Yeah.
Like the one team that we both play for at the time, Team USA.
Yeah.
And if there's some panthers stuff obviously are at the Panthers ice blocks, of course there's
going to be Panthers.
Sometimes the Kachucks are, you're like, they could.
be that obvious about it.
And they're so fucking obvious about it.
And it was,
it was Keith literally saying,
and he says,
Christ, and then points at Brady's team and goes,
you guys,
basically,
I'm paraphrasing,
none of you play through injuries.
You had a bad sleep,
you're soft and I'm playing through a broken wrist
and blah, blah, blah.
And, you know,
I had to walk up,
I had to walk backwards to school
in a fucking thong when I was a,
you know,
a teenager or whatever.
He's,
it's the same old man bullshit.
And I think what bothers me
about this clip is how little
it seemed to register at the time.
It was a minor explosion,
but everybody's like,
come on.
This suite has a million views.
No,
it was a big deal.
It should have been bigger.
You don't remember?
It should have been bigger.
I think you're both right.
It was a big deal
and it should have been bigger.
And it was insulting
that anyone implied
that it was anything other than what it was.
And very obviously is.
And then Julian asked him a couple of questions.
You remember that press conference?
The first one after?
Because it was a big deal.
And then Brady was like, I've already answered this question.
And he actually didn't answer it.
He just evaded the answer on the question.
And then Julian's the reason Brady left town.
Brady, Julian's a scary guy.
You've seen those pipes, man.
Yeah, my God.
Listen, so I think, so then obviously, you know, they asked him about the Ann Lauer quote.
Because Michael Lauer, love him or hate him, and I happen to love him.
I think most of the time he gets it right.
I think.
Great for content.
He's phenomenal for content.
I think the statement last year that certain forces,
are trying to tear our team apart,
that should have been applied to Keith Kachuk.
I think it was.
Not Lena Solmark and what people were saying about him on Reddit.
But basically he said, yeah, I saw the quote where, you know,
Anne Lauer said that, you know, his brother and his dad got in his kitchen and he was going to leave.
He said, there's personal, professional and personal reasons why I wasn't going to resign here.
And he said, I'm a big boy.
I make my own decisions.
Now, I think we also know that that's a half-truth.
I think that absolutely Keith Kachuk and Matthew Kachuk had something to do with this.
And I don't begrudge that.
You want to go play with your family?
You've made the NHL.
You've both made it.
Your dad made it too.
I think that's really special.
What I don't like is the obnoxious dishonesty beforehand, which was we're going to
trash my starting goal tender going into the playoffs.
That clips from April 1st.
They started the playoffs two weeks later.
And then I'm going to deny it and say,
I've always been committed here
and then say actually, well, no.
Yeah, but Adam, you got to give Brady Kachuk credit.
He really put his money where his mouth is
and he performed for Ottawa in those playoffs.
Right.
Now, he might have been hurt.
The results were not there.
Oh, my pinky hurts.
Oh, but fucking get out there and play.
And I think.
What?
No, no, no.
Oh, you're hurt?
Tough shit.
That's such a good point.
That's a great quote from,
uh, let me, dad.
Can I also say this?
Bust your ass.
a couple weeks before that
Steve you'll remember this
Jesse you'll remember this
Austin Matthews gets need by Radco Gudis
and the wing men obviously bring it up on the podcast
and they say we would never let that happen
We would we would YAA
Now Matthew could Chuck I believe him
I've seen him
They will do that they're still
That's a large reason he's not in Calgary anymore
is he tried to stand up for his teammates
And none of them did anything with him
And they went to turn around
And we're like oh Matthews is like
too intense.
They were tired of his antics was the quote that came out of the dress.
We've been consistent with that.
Jake Muzin broke that iteration of the flames.
You did.
By throwing a glove.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Now, a couple of weeks later.
Or a puck.
What happens at a senator's game?
Carter Yakum-Chuk gets hit real hard.
I can't remember by who.
And Brady Kachuk, who was on the ice, did nothing.
Yep.
Now, Brady Kachuk's a phenomenal hockey player.
From all, everything I've heard, he's a really good,
Guy to good dad, all that stuff.
The PDO went in his favor last couple of weeks after it was not in his favor.
And I am thrilled about it because it has lifted my team to its first victory because him and Matthew were not performing.
And I had drafted them both because I was like they're going to be dynamite together.
However, again, I don't begrudge the move.
I begrudge the BS around it.
And I think as a as a, listen, a lifelong senator's hater.
It's difficult to put me in this position.
Right.
And I'm not a hater.
But like it's it's like that is our rival, provincial rival.
That's Tampa sunrise, right?
Like that is our, that's what they are to us.
And for me to be going to bat for the senators like this is not a position I'd ever think I would be in.
As a league fan, I hope there's 400 hits in this game.
And that's why I respect that's true.
What Tim Stutz was saying, which is I don't really, I'm not ready for that shit right now.
Actually, I'm an Ottawa senator first.
And if I was, you know, I understand Drake Batherson, it's his friend, whatever.
But if I was a Sends fan, I'd be buying a Stutzler jersey tonight.
I've given Stozzler shit for the thing that he very obviously does.
Yeah.
But he's an intense guy too.
There are different forms of intensity.
Doesn't necessarily mean he could kick your ass or beat Brady Kachuk in a fight or anything.
But I expect a big game out of him.
And also, I'm just going to outright say it.
Brady Kachuk very badly wants fans to throw jerseys on the ice tonight.
Because he said he was going to donate.
them to the Boys and Girls Club?
Yeah, that's why he drew attention to it.
He's preemptively taking the moral high ground here.
And whatever, good for him.
That's fine.
He's allowed to do that.
Is that what the Boys and Girls Club needs?
That's what they need?
Brady Conchuk jersees.
I don't know.
They might need funding.
But what I would say is this.
I don't know what you were implying.
Well, you need old Brady.
I'm implying that what is this bullshit.
Do you think like Senator kids
You can just give them money now.
Or you could say, I'm buying them money now.
Yeah.
Do you guys want to hear the Stoot's list chef quote?
Yeah, sure.
Okay, it's very funny.
I love this.
I'm just going to focus on our game and are going to do what we have to do.
Have you seen him at all since he's been back here?
No, I haven't seen him.
I mean, I have a chef at home, so I didn't go for dinner.
Yeah, but I didn't see you.
That's the most friggin' German answer.
Yeah, I was about to say, I think we're grossly misreading this.
he's merely German.
He's not, there is no malice behind that at all.
He's just German.
I think it's pretty badass.
No,
I think he's,
I think there's a little bit of sting in that.
Come on.
It's like I get what you,
but it's also like the casual nature of it.
It's so badass to say that.
Yes.
I have a chef at home.
It's not unlike Rob Ford.
I got plenty to eat at home.
Oh.
Oh my God.
Maybe the most underrated political.
political quote, I think of our lifetime.
Yeah.
And we just had no idea what was to come.
And some of you don't know what we're talking about.
And there's a fun Google.
Don't do it on a work phone.
The thing is,
tonight's going to be awesome.
But I wanted to ask you guys this.
That's where I was going to.
First of us, it's going to be awesome because it's going to go one of two ways.
So first off, Bruce Garriac just chum in the water, right?
Throwing blood in the water going, actually the senator's game is not really a hot ticket.
And then he said because it wasn't sold out.
Oh.
And that number, remember, their arenas in a weird place.
They've got more capacity than most places.
It's rare that the senators sell out game.
But this one, you would think they would.
Amazon game tonight.
Amazon game tonight.
But number two, before I lose my trade of thought, because you know I'm ADHD, I'm going to lose it.
He also said that the best way that senators fans could react to Brady Kachuk is not by booing.
I don't know why everybody hates booing.
He said it should just be silence.
Shut off.
And I was like, and all the sentence fans were like, yeah, I don't think so.
Someone in charge of covering professional sports?
Silence.
That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
What are you talking about?
That's the opposite of what you're supposed to do on sporting event.
What kind of, there's a meme on Reddit of like someone trying to be a badass.
And they're like, that's what that sounds like.
You're trying to be an anime villain and sounding deeper than.
than you are and you should stop because it's cringe.
I wonder if we're going to get Islanders level Tavares heat from the crowd.
Because that's what I want.
Will I get that what I'm watching?
I don't know.
Here's what we're going to get tonight.
What are Sends fans built like?
Exactly.
We got a true test here.
Because there's not been a more contentious return since that JT reunion, right?
Like, I can't think of one.
That's a good question.
Well, what was Matthew Kichuk's return to?
Calgary like, I don't think it was, it wasn't like this.
I think they booed him a little bit, but I don't remember being like contentious.
Also, they like thought they were getting better when they were.
Yeah, because they got Hubertow and Weiger.
Yeah.
They were like, oh, we're breaking even on the street.
And Marner was, Marner was weird too because Marner, Marner has, I still get people coming up
to me like in the grocery store going like, how come the media were so hard on him?
Yeah.
And I'm like, I just, I'm not going to have this conversation anymore.
And I walked around the bull for the warm up there.
And like, I don't know.
40% of the crowd had pro-Marner sign.
Right.
But that would,
but the fact that it was only 40%
would really stick in their crock.
But every anti-Marner sign was worth 75.
Yeah.
But all I'm saying is like,
this is a universal hatred.
With the Marner thing,
it's still split.
You know,
this is 100% nobody should be on Brady's side in Ottawa.
Okay.
What are we getting?
What if there are and what reasons would you have?
Can we just have a little fun?
All the winning.
Oh, wait.
That's the thing.
Marner did at least get the second round.
There are some cool moments with Marner.
Well, and also...
It was a great moment.
You forget.
He was top 10 in scoring when he left in, you know, Leif's history, 110 years.
The Sends had traded a pick that ended up being fourth overall to Colorado.
And if I remember correctly, they had the option of picking this year or giving up a pick
this year or giving up a pick the next year.
And if I remember correctly,
they wanted Brady Kachuk bad enough
that they're like, we're taking them
and we're going to risk it the following year
with the potential that they end up giving up
the first overall pick.
Now, I believe they ended up giving up the fourth overall pick
and it was Bowen Byram.
Okay.
I think that's how it went.
Because I want to say Brady was 2017,
Byram was 2018.
they went out on a limb
to take this guy
they made him their captain
like when Shabbat was named captain
I was like yeah that makes sense
and I was like wait a second
does he not predate Brady Kachuk
but they liked him more
they liked his leadership qualities more
than Thomas Shabbat's
so what do you think we get from the crowd
I hope
contrary to what some people
might say that it is very loud
booze.
You should not cover a pro sport
and hope for silence.
That is odd.
Jersey's on the ice
over under three and a half.
I hope, you know what?
I hope now,
I hope if you're going to throw your jersey
on the ice, just donate it to the Boys and Girls Club
yourself. Don't give them that credit.
And I actually, you know what?
I'm not a fan of jerseys.
They don't want a,
Brady Kachuk
Ottawa's
jersey
or donate 20 bucks
do that
I don't
whatever it is
you want to do
I just
what is this
this is
it's nonsense
and it should be
called out
Jersey's on
it's very funny
it is an odd
use of charity
here's what I think
shouldn't happen
though
it's an odd
use of charity
you're right
it's an
odd and fairly
naked use
of charity
for moral
high ground
yeah
I don't disagree
with that
I think it's
it's to stop it
from happening
no it
isn't. It's to encourage it.
He wants this to happen.
So I look at it. No, Adam, if it doesn't happen, he doesn't get to look like a hero.
Remember when Vince Carter came back to Toronto and he got booed and he was surprised?
Oh, no. These guys live in a different world.
Well, Brady, I don't think is going to be surprised. Like, I think he understands.
And I think he's well aware. He's going to be disappointed. Vince Carter was living
on a different planet back then and was surrounded by so many yes people. He lost it.
Right? He really did. And that's the part. That's why I think because Vince has come back and he's shown contrition and
he did bring the Raptors.
He put them on the on the map.
He got them to the seventh game of the second round against the sixers.
Was it or the sixth game?
Whatever it was where you missed the shot.
Sixers.
And no,
yeah,
it was game seven.
And,
you know,
he did those things.
When I look at what Brady brought to the Sends,
the thing for me is I don't know kind of,
I don't know that there's like,
I think one day Connor Hellibuck and the Winnipeg Jets will come back together.
Yeah.
With Brady,
I'm like,
you were a good player on a team that was developing for a long time.
had shitty management,
allegedly,
or not allegedly,
did have shitty management
for a long time
you were there.
But you have a new owner,
you've got a great team,
this team's going to challenge
for the division win,
and you're going to leave.
I don't know that there's ever going to be
a bridge rebuilt here.
No.
They're not going to bring,
they're not going to,
they're not going to,
you know what I mean?
My favorite Brady
Kutuk moment as a send,
Leaves are up 3-0 in the series.
Game four goes to overtime.
Jake Sanderson ends up scoring.
So they forced game five, which is back in Toronto.
And Brady pointed at the ice in Ottawa,
and he told the fans, we're losing the series here instead.
We will not lose on the road.
We are losing the series here instead.
You will get to see this season end in person.
I don't get to talk shit like this very often.
I don't know if I'm very good at it.
I like that.
I like that.
All right, that's it for today.
Who wins? Final score.
Five, three cents.
Brady gets three, though.
I need it for my pan of speed.
I'm going to go.
Sit, no.
We're getting full.
To one cents.
