Starting point is 00:00:57 No, you spell Jackson No, no, I'm serious you guys spell it spells jackson i think it's j-a-x-x-n i don't know what to spell it j-a-x-c-k c-k-s-o-n jackson jackson give a stroke what happened you really just want to hit that k in the middle i do you really want to emphasize i do i'm gonna i'm gonna play the i'm gonna guess uh j-a-x-o-n j-a-x-o-n yeah jackson j-a-x-s-o-n is what do you want no no well those are definitely me that's you oh okay hey oh my god can you actually turn mine down yeah no that's good feeling loud today and i just can you turn adams up
Starting point is 00:01:43 all right so listen i i have a question for you guys before we get started uh first off i want to say this trade them oh is that not the question it's our last friday episode of the 23 24 season because we we're still in season the nhl might be done but we are uh and uh we still our schedule is going to go like this we are going to have a vip episode every single week this summer when uh friday like usual thank you yeah and then um we also are going to have uh uh our mondays and wednesdays right up until the end of july so you're going to get plenty of sdp content and you will still get three episodes a week if you're a vip subscriber which you can do on apple you can do it on spotify or you can do that on youtube and also monday show is going to feature one
Starting point is 00:02:28 christopher johnson this coming monday this coming monday not every monday not every monday no because chris is leaving ah he's going on vacation so this is he's going to do the moon cj show monday and then he's going to do an sdp monday and he's nice he's getting to the bottom of all the stuff of he's getting to the bottom of it um he is uh he's gonna do a cj show monday and he's gonna join us i know if you like cj holy shit it's gonna be so much damn cj yeah but it was better when i said yeah yeah you're off your game today steve i know i gotta i gotta get to the bottom of my first coffee it's better when i said it i do find that funny um uh like that norm mcdonald way to hear me do it now if you guys heard yesterday cj show
Starting point is 00:03:16 which is entitled sydney crosby is dying to be a philadelphia flyer yeah he took a shit on the mayor of pittsburgh no cj actually had some very shit on the head of no no he had some interesting stuff on uh on the pittsburgh penguins and you know one of the things that that i think uh it's going to be difficult for pens fans to accept uh is that um kyle dubas doesn't have a plan and and he hasn't had a plan well basically here's what i here's my theory on on july 1st one july 1st one bad july 1st begets another you look at the jari extension you look at the graves contract you look at uh trading for riley smith which unfortunately didn't work out although I really like Riley Smith and then having to trade him retained to
Starting point is 00:04:07 get rid of him to the New York Rangers. Nice little pickup by them. At some point, what he was saying is you got to have a conversation about Sidney Crosby and how long he could be in Pittsburgh. All right. Here's Chris Johnston talking about Sidney Crosby. No, I want to paraphrase him on the Chris Johnston show.
Starting point is 00:04:30 I was actually just going to send you the link. It's perfect. This is great. if i had a crystal ball i would probably project that sydney crosby would be calling up nathan mckinnon and being like hey you want to play at least a year or two together i can totally see sydney crosby in a colorado avalanche uniform i know my brain has done a complete 180 from the last time we talked about this we're just i do not see him leaving pittsburgh i'm starting to get to the other side now he's got to probably look himself in the mirror this summer obviously
Starting point is 00:04:56 have chats with people close to him that matters but it's like do you want to play these last couple of years where you're still at a high, like, I mean, I know a big carrot for Crosby is that he's going to get to now play best on best again. It's going to get to play with the younger generation. That'll be cool for him, whether it's at the four nations or the 2026 Olympics, like that's all locked in. But do you want to be kind of toiling in mediocrity? Do you want your season to end on April 10th? You know, the answer is no, but like, I just don't see the path back to the playoffs quickly for the penguins. Okay. You might make the playoffs like Washington made the playoffs this year and they were swept in four games. I don't see the path back to really
Starting point is 00:05:30 contending. I don't know how this shakes out. None of this is meant to suggest he's gone or anything like that. It's just, I'm looking at the landscape and I'm looking at the fact he hasn't signed his new deal. I'll say this. I think he had a five-year contract out of entry level at an $8.7 million cap hit. Then he did a 12-year deal. That's the one that's ending at an $8.7 million cap hit. I'm willing to bet his next contract is for more than that. I'm willing to bet he's not signing for 8.7 million to ride out the career now that caused a kerfuffle because the suggestion that sydney crosby could leave pittsburgh you know is is understandably upsetting right i think that's fair i just said to get no no let's acknowledge me i need you to acknowledge
Starting point is 00:06:15 acknowledge the fact that if i were a pittsburgh penguins fan i would be very upset about the idea And, you know, Crosby, his entire career has been known for one thing above all, and it's loyalty beyond his skill. I think it's disingenuous to say that what what's what's being suggestion suggested isn't like heartbreak. Oh, like this is this is absolutely devastating. You have to acknowledge those feelings of the people who don't want to hear this stuff because it would hurt them so much. And one thing CJ said in there that I think illustrates your point, Adam, about how loyal the Crosby is. Has there been ever a player who played out the entirety of a 12-year deal in the NHL? Out of every 12-year deal that has been handed out in the NHL's history, has anybody played on the entire thing in the one team?
Starting point is 00:07:06 Duncan Keith got close. He didn't get there. He didn't get there. The two in Minnesota didn't get there. Yeah. yeah chuck parise a suitor did not get there no di pietro got injured but it was 15 years luongo no didn't get there uh i think and by the way i they don't all have to be 12 they just need to be currently illegal yeah yeah i'm just talking about the massive deals that are over the eight
Starting point is 00:07:27 years that you can hand out now weber no uh i don't remember well datsuk no did zetterberg i don't remember if zetterberg signed an illegal one well no he finished his career in arizona so no hosa um with a big whole asterisk yeah zetterberg signed the 12 year and he finished in arizona so he didn't complete it zetterberg ended up in arizona henrik zetterberg or because he retired in 2018 yeah and uh the contract was through 2021 so i guess you know maybe he didn't end up in arizona i got that wrong well he retired before the end of his contract right right there uh same with uh hosa retired before the end of his contract i don't think a single one made it and if they did okay so there's the exception to the rule that's a cool i think i
Starting point is 00:08:21 think that's right that was that was the status that's a damn with you guys on the spot oh vetchkin yeah how long was ovies that's a great question yeah you know what i can it might be the two of them yeah ovechkin i got him here alex crosby at 8.7 is 13 years so we have two people wow and it's those crosby and ovechkin just there you go too perfect uh capitals fans are probably yelling at us the whole time what about us me because uh ovi actually would have been the first because he played out his deal from 2008 to 2021 ovi better just like we all knew there you go i always claimed I think that's pretty cool like it just shows what kind of guy Crosby is and Ovechkin well and the fact that uh uh that frankly um he has never complained uh he has never like
Starting point is 00:09:14 he hasn't put a foot wrong ever in Pittsburgh and I think I think so getting back to the feelings and the reaction to some of this um you know especially when it's framed uh uh as like some sort of we're trying to get one over on the on the penguins here you know i think the reality of the situation is ray bork finished his career in colorado and after 22 years someone else because he stayed in boston yeah oh yeah great story um gretzky got traded like you have to be open listen is it entirely possible that sid spends the rest of his career in pittsburgh yes but they're gonna have to spend a lot of money to do that and that means okay so you don't like you don't like the idea of crosby going and i get that that means malcolm and latanga gotta go and crosby's got
Starting point is 00:10:00 probably got to be okay with not being good for the last three years because this team unless they do something bold and that's not traditionally kyle dubas's mo he's not a bold guy he's his his biggest boldness was re-signing the players that he had um i never saw a cutthroat thing from kyle Go look at the core from before COVID and now it's the same core. And I think so, Kyle, when he does this, he's very he's actually quite conservative. He's very, like, measured and wants to mitigate risk. And the penguins need it's funny that we bring up the the the capitals the penguins need to do if they want to be good for the last couple of years of Crosby here. They got to do what the capitals did, which is but you'll have to wait till next year to do it.
Starting point is 00:10:46 You have to find a distressed asset and do a one for one for that distressed asset. the Pierre-Luc Dubois deal, the Mangia Ponte deal. Then they go out and they sign Matt Roy to that seven-year contract, which is a big bet. But with the cap going up, I'm sure they're looking at it going, well, as his play diminishes, so will his percentage on the cap.
Starting point is 00:11:03 It won't hurt us that much. I mean, really, it is very, it's trickier now to sign a bad deal long-term because of where we think the cap's going to jump. I know that sounds crazy to say, but it is. You know what? Life finds a way. Yeah, absolutely. My point is, Pittsburgh did nothing,
Starting point is 00:11:19 has done nothing and appear to be doing nothing and so it is logical that if you're sydney crosby and here's what's coming up right we got the four nations cup you got the olympics yep you want to be he'll be at both he's going to be at on it on an all-star team the mon stars basically except for goaltender and he's going to go in there and go oh this feels fun oh winning never feels really good and and and this guy's a winner he hasn't played in a best on best tournament that featured conor mcdavid in eight years and he wasn't even on his team no and that's and that's the point steve is that like i look at this guy and i think man of course the guy wants to win and so would it be all that bad like if you're a penguins fan i want you to think about this just about the
Starting point is 00:12:07 ideologically would you rather have three let's say crosby plays four more years let's say at least three of them you're not in the playoffs i mean the capitals made the playoffs but that's because the metro sucked this year and it won't next year right so let's say the penguins don't make the playoffs the next couple of years are you cool as a as a crosby fan and a penguins fan with with being like yeah i know i'm at least he stayed though or would you rather see him go and win somewhere and cheer for him there too well there's the honest answer and there's the lie i think most people would say i'd rather see him go and win he's brought a lot to our city three championships in 15 years i think that's pretty spectacular uh and it's the modern it's
Starting point is 00:12:49 the cap record yeah i keep going back to that oh well you know when when talking about crosby versus the all-time greats um when he is an all-time great people go well this guy won four this guy won five this guy won six okay from the beginning of sydney crosby's career where it became exponentially more difficult to win the stanley cup yeah he is tied for the cap record with three like in terms of leading a team like being a top three scorer on a team and winning a championship what's the list of guys who have done it it's small it's crosby malkin stamkos tase duncan keith stamkos has two oh he's two right stamkos is two he's four cracks at it so it's it's like seabrook keith tase you know the whole the core from that
Starting point is 00:13:40 group the core from the blackhawks not even the goalie because the first one was anti-niemi yep not the kings not the lightning like think about just just to know when you start off with the blackhawks you start off with seabrook yeah he was a big deal he was a big deal great he patted jonathan taves on the back in the box that one time it's like i i'm like you know the 90s bulls steve kerr i like game winning shot yeah how dare you it's weird to start i mean i like seabrook i like seabrook a lot i used to draft him in my 2011 fantasy games it's it's this conversation i like these conversations because it applies across pro sports and it's always uh it's always fun to look back on careers because they never end at the top that's just that's just the way
Starting point is 00:14:26 it works they always kind of end with a whimper because these are pro athletes and they're going to go out until the game tells them they can't uh play anymore and you look at guys who have played their whole career in one place one example i always go back to is kobe bryant who famously asked for a trade in the 2007 offseason like he was almost a i think it was the dallas mavericks they almost moved it to i think it was mark cuban who told the story about how they almost acquired kobe bryant and they just said no like we're gonna stick it out with you they ended up winning two more championships and he said i'm gonna be laker for life but then the lakers sucked yeah in the last few years of kobe bryant's career the lakers were just dog shit and he put up all his points on
Starting point is 00:15:04 this garbage team and that's usually how dynasties end they don't end at the height where you win the championship and you walk off and they'll they'll usually end with this slow burnout and there's a case where crosby goes to another team and he can keep winning or he just sticks around in pittsburgh and it ends with a whimper hey guys you know what this conversation is kind of depressing instead i want to make a playlist okay do you mind here here's the first five songs you just want to do this thing oh yeah here's the first five songs on the playlist don't worry it ties in um i first song on my playlist is gonna be psycho by post malone featuring featuring ty dolla sign meant to be by baby russia and the florida georgia line um no tears left to cry by ariana grande
Starting point is 00:15:46 god's plan by drake biggest artist in the world right now no one's saying any bad things about him and also nice for what by drake that's the top five from the billboard chart the last week crosby was in the second round guys it's been a while and it's not gonna get better like i don't understand here here's the thing here's here's where i'm at and here's where i got upset yesterday first of all don't you ever fucking dare come for cj ever or julian ever not in your life not in front of me number two if you're gonna get mad get mad for the right reasons please let's not just throw things out there because of our emotions and our feelings listen i should know okay i'm the king of that um is it heartbreaking if crosby were to get traded and not end his
Starting point is 00:16:33 career in pittsburgh yes i think that's fair that's heartbreaking and sad that's fair and bad and no good and i don't like it and i don't have to enjoy watching him on another team and i want him to play for my team i understand that okay this canadian media cheering on crosby's i'm just going to go through a greatest hits of the dumb fuckery that i saw uh the canadian media cheering on crosby's downfall please show your work what are you talking about i don't think anybody said that yeah they did they did i'm not making it up no i don't think anybody in the canadian media is like yeah i can't wait for crosby to go down yeah i can't wait for the guy who scored the golden goal in 2010 yeah i understand if you're not from here he is sydney crosby is revered in canada is there
Starting point is 00:17:24 another sydney crosby i don't know about who's an asshole and you're talking about him no what are you talking about what are you talking about i think i think it comes from this i think it comes from this oh i didn't get to go through my list i'm sorry but let me start let me just stop you on that sure sure it comes from a lot of people see staying and this is a artificial construct by the way a lot of people see staying with the same team the entire career as legacy and it's rare and if you leave it diminishes legacy which i think is is complete crap um you know especially when you know you expect these athletes to be and as jesse said the the empires die with a whimper dynasties die with a whimper i don't want to see sydney crosby on on the penguins team that i saw
Starting point is 00:18:09 last year and by the way they did nothing in the last month nothing not even a first round pick they weren't even able to get into the first round they were at the sphere everybody's having a good time dubas doesn't have a first round pick they're not in a great spot they're not they have an empty cupboard they have overpriced deals they've got guys that are aging and they won't it's not just that they won't let go of crosby which that's up to him we're having an identical conversation to last year malcolm letang are guys that are getting older and they're playing well last year but again it is the same identical conversation so i think it comes from to make a point about that i think that's where that comes from sure and if you're in pittsburgh i can see why you see it that way
Starting point is 00:18:49 but just so you know nobody thinks it diminishes crosby's legacy to not be a penguin no uh and i think that might be the reaction in the moment from some fans but long term i don't think anybody looks back on players who play like the majority of their career and then go somewhere else i don't think they're looked down upon in any type of way because it happens so often gretzky played for four teams do we call him the great one asterix right like yeah no you know what um my favorite thing about messier's sixth cup is it doesn't count yeah that sure wasn't memorable at all like you don't look down on matt sundin any differently like it doesn't become less of a leaf great like i don't know he played for the leaf fans wanted him to get traded because
Starting point is 00:19:29 that was the logical thing to do hey we're bad matt can you help us be good hey you know how we're not gonna make the playoffs don't you want to play in those and he said no yeah tom brady might be even more of a patriot because he left and he won with somebody else and then they're like oh screw our team we love tom even more because of that you know like i feel like just with time everybody's gonna forget about whatever crosby does at the end and he's pittsburgh penguin for life we all know that and if he does if he does stay in pittsburgh and he stays in pittsburgh that's great but it does it does seem antithetical to sydney crosby's personality to be like yeah i'm cool with the rebuild over the next three years because that's what you're looking at you're not
Starting point is 00:20:05 looking at a retool in pittsburgh not to mention um oh you know crosby's gonna stay there his whole career just like mario did okay we're not leaving out several things are we yeah mario mario had some serious health issues like health issues retirements multiple he was a part owner the last time he played for them guys oh my god i saw one other guy um friggin um oh like we're gonna talk about them like they're a small market they have three championships guys they almost left pittsburgh is a small market it is a small matter how many championships they have they are and but it's a the amazing thing about pittsburgh is because what's the miracle of the penguins yeah is that they are one of the most followed teams they are one of the most passion impassioned
Starting point is 00:20:51 markets their tv ratings are locally usually among the top five in the league yeah and that's not on a per capita basis that's just generally uh so to just so pittsburgh's like like green bay the packers small market small freaking market but hugely followed never going anywhere right pittsburgh did almost leave yes but i think that those days are over what we need now they're they're owned by a an enormous group yeah it's 2024 is different they're not so what what i think everybody knows that they need now is a rebuild and like top to bottom do they know that based on the conversation we just had they don't know that well i think they're not aware i think that the idea in in pittsburgh with certain people is is yeah they rebuild but crosby would obviously
Starting point is 00:21:37 stay and i just can't see how that's possible because if listen pittsburgh could get out and we could get clipped on this and it's like they get out to a real hot start in october just like detroit did last year remember just like i said detroit had the one of the worst off seasons of the year last year and and i said pittsburgh did too and pittsburgh detroit was caught on fire the first two months and what happened yeah well red wings fans have the dignity to be surprised they had the common courtesy to be surprised about it and then when they got bad they were like oh i thought i thought i lost my touch i don't know how to analyze hockey anymore i think the thing is is that one day if you're looking at us as a bunch of leaf fans who don't know what
Starting point is 00:22:18 we're talking about which again i don't know why that has nothing to do with the conversation one day this if the leafs can't stay good like the capitals have stayed good the capitals even this year made the playoffs the reason that we're not talking about ovechkin leading the cats they stayed in the hunt they're creating opportunities and that's what they're going to try to do again this year i think their goaltending is much improved their defense is much they just got chikrin and matt roy and then they got i'm surprised by their off a big burly centerman and manji apani as well and i think i think your luke dubois is actually gonna be a great fit there they went out and they were bold they're like you know what chips on the table we'll have to burn this all down likely at
Starting point is 00:22:55 the end of ov's career but we might as well might as well go for it that was supposed to be the ethos of the pittsburgh penguins but for whatever reason whether it's fenway sports and entertainment whether it's kyle dubas uh and the is did kyle hire a gm yet no he didn't i was wondering that the other day no he hasn't no he's still the general manager so like okay at a certain point kyle's got to get a plan together here and and i think fenway uh is it's odd because the socks have been bad for a while and doing weird things and it seems like there's a lot of inaction with their properties and i it's odd here's where i would be frustrated as a pigments fan because you know i've loosely done comparables with uh the leafs versus the penguins as in you
Starting point is 00:23:40 know the leafs won't move off of their core penguins won't move off of their core the penguins core costs a fraction of what the leafs does now it's older and frankly it's not great yeah outside of crosby like malikin's he's good he's good he's great value at six point whatever yeah holy crap letang he's getting up there carlson why he's getting up there right they have the cap space around that core to build a team that is not just a perennial playoff team but a contender and they haven't done that at all well and and i look at i look at their power play from last year which was as jessica pointing out historically bad they should had they had a power play they probably would have been in the playoffs and i i wonder what they've done to help mitigate
Starting point is 00:24:28 that unless Michael Bunting is your answer and he might be he I like Michael Bunting a lot he had a great stretch for them so and Michael Bunting's a great hockey player he'll be great with Crosby totally so so let's let's meet in the middle ground here I think if if I want Crosby to remain a penguin forever it's because I think this team still has what it takes to be great um but they need to do some things beyond acquiring kevin hayes you know what i mean it's a lot of deck chairs kind of like it was last i guess he's their bet their pure look du bois bet you know what i mean but like it your free agency is also kind of how you're perceived in the market a little bit to a certain extent um do teams think they have a chance to win
Starting point is 00:25:22 with you who joined the penguins this year because they have a chance to win well tarasenko we know turned them down specifically because they were they were last minute on the bidding you wanted to try it well yeah but that's that's how he feels right well yeah i mean uh the money was about the same the money's about the same detroit pittsburgh tomato tomato but except it's not 2008 and 2009 anymore um you know oh they're on about the same plane it's no longer a compliment uh you know what i mean um this is a guy who obviously has no problem getting traded mid-season and going on and winning a cup should be okay i just i i do look at the penguins and i look at the like crosby was freaking heroic last year heroic he was on a bunch of heart ballots still well of
Starting point is 00:26:10 course he should have been he's turning 37 in august like that's herculean um but that team around him he also it's just it's mid he also needs to go out and get a lot of money and that's also going to be painful for pittsburgh or he doesn't have to no he's going to he should i honestly think we might be two years ahead of the conversation or at least a year because i think he'll stick around as long as malkin's there and malkin's got two years left on his deal so i see him i see both of them at least play in those two years out with malkin a lot guys the latan conversation is a little different because he signed till he's 41 and i don't see him playing no i don't see him finishing a contract but i see malkin playing at least the
Starting point is 00:26:55 next two years and i think crosby will stick around for at least those i saw a big tweet about that i wonder if that should be investigated for caps or convention if he's kidding i'm totally kidding no no well it is kyle i don't know maybe we gotta figure out do they like messing with toronto or kyle which is it so chicken or the egg yeah so it's it's jesse you may be right i also wonder if they go to malcolm this offseason go listen getting like if we're not if we're not in contention come trade deadline what do you what do you think you want to do they all go somewhere else well i think you know gino's market value you think of a guy like that with his playoff performance he was spectacular in the playoffs when he's healthy he's unbelievable
Starting point is 00:27:36 and he's got another year on his deal so any acquiring team would pay more because you've got that extra deal and it's only what 5.56 or what's he making here let me it's not crazy money it's 6.1 not crazy for this year wow yeah not crazy and if you throw in a first you might even get the pens to first plus whatever you might get the pens to to take a little bit of that back oh yeah yeah if they decide finally we're going to retool let's do it well there's also like okay there's an there's a path to making the penguins relevant and a contender there's also a path to really rocket powering this rebuild which is retaining on everyone and getting extra assets for it um trading guys and getting picks like it's already been set in motion like gino malkin
Starting point is 00:28:28 feels to me like a night already a night golden night oh they got it they got a they got a top line winger spot that i think was supposed to go to somebody else and i wouldn't put it past vegas they haven't done anything no to get crosby malkin letang get them all carlson all of them i don't think they're gonna get them all give up nothing off their roster i don't think they're gonna get them all yeah you never know yeah hey mark how's the back i think and then they figure it out but you know you look at that and you go okay there's some real potential here and it'd be kind of fun wouldn't it oh moving them around well it'd definitely be fun but again there's penguins fans listening right now going no it bloody wouldn't be and i totally understand what you
Starting point is 00:29:13 prefer the status quo which is okay if everything goes right we're squeaking in in in the first or second wildcard spot your favorite team doesn't play in the league that you grew up watching and and I think a lot of people struggle with that it's tough it is it is the other thing I want to say is I don't you know once this era of Crosby is done I think that there it cannot be understated how disastrous the Burke Hextall years were in Pittsburgh I think if you're if you know I'm hard on Dubas because I think last year he really screwed up and this year he didn't have many options because he screwed up last year we called it before he got the job but that mess of you know the and respectfully jeff carter was a great penguin and the community loved him but
Starting point is 00:29:58 that contract jeff petrie bio it's just all of it's bad and and you kind of i i kind of wish like for kyle's sake i bet he wishes that he was there like two years earlier oh like dude for for like before he even got that job in pittsburgh we were like who wants that job and one of the things we talked about was imagine because it was something that was coming over the horizon imagine having to be the man who trades sydney crosby or just gets nothing for him yeah you know what's going to make them stink for a very long time is if they just keep going this way and everyone retires a penguin and they have a ceremony and everyone's got a tear in their eye and uh they don't even get a fourth round pick for any of them now the good news is if you hold
Starting point is 00:30:50 on to your first round pick uh you'll probably have a lottery pick yep for the next three four years yep yep but you gotta be like i'm i'm not kidding like you you gotta be willing to go through that pain like uh there's a whole generation of penguins fans who don't even remember them being bad i know which is crazy because they were pretty bad for a while they were they were real bad post jogger oh boy yeah yeah and and what did they get out of it uh mark andre flurry consecutively yeah flurry malkin cross second crosby came third and jordan stall friggin uh first second first second amazing in a row amazing that's wild yeah that's what and it was those four so it could have been any four but it was those four jesse unless you want to add no i think we should move
Starting point is 00:31:41 forward we should let's wrap the conversation and just say this it's entirely possible and you got to be open to it and one day it comes for all right we we've all seen it here in toronto um uh so so just be a little more open to it that's all we're saying sunny days calls for shady rays yeah i made that that's a good one you like that that's not bad thank you i appreciate that now listen uh you got sunshine season ahead of you we're we're we're we're away from hockey for a little bit here we're in our backyards we're at our friend with a pool's house and if you want to look cool by the pool just uh no you i don't have a you have a pool listen there's nothing better like having a pool is fine but having a friend with a pool oh it's way better it's way
Starting point is 00:32:22 way better and i'll tell you uh i'm excited to lay by steve's pool you know my speedo that with my shady rays on steve you better thank america right now america shady rays is having an independence day sale oh yes oh no we're two days late what do you mean canada day no independence oh the other one we don't call her as independence day it wasn't independent oh call it patriotic fireworks they have they have a bunch of shades that are like up to 50 off on the site but we also have our own deal yep absolutely and that is 50 off two or more pairs of sunglasses uh and remember those are backed by various types of protection uh lost stolen and also if you have a child and they decide to bonk you on the face and your glasses get damaged
Starting point is 00:33:17 there's all those sorts of protections so have a look right now there's tons of styles 300 000 people oh like all of them are on sale that's right for independence day holy crap 300 000 people have rated Shady Rays five stars. Go to ShadyRays.com and use the promo code SDP. 50% off two or more pairs of sunglasses at ShadyRays.com. Use that code SDP. When WestJet first took flight in 1996, the vibes were a bit different. People thought denim on denim was peak fashion. Inline skates were everywhere. And two out of three women rocked the Rachel. While those things stayed in the 90s, one thing that hasn't is that fuzzy feeling you get when west jet welcomes you on board here's to west jetting since 96 travel back in time with us
Starting point is 00:33:58 and actually travel with us at westjet.com slash 30 years now i want to say this uh cj and julian have their last show on monday calgary stampede starts this weekend so cj is also coming on our show yes he is uh does julian make it to monday's show now i'm going to tell you just just the musical acts at calgary stampede this year you got the jonas brothers which jesse and i have seen the jonas brothers live and they're pretty stampede they're pretty great oh yeah no no miranda lambert's gonna be there okay motley crew is gonna be there oh nickelback from hey let's go alberta gonna be there look at this graph billy talent logic you fuck with logic g easy no um
Starting point is 00:34:46 silo green uh yeah melanie c from the spice girl are we still neo neo what the yeah oh there's a lot of this thing oh it's always like this you don't know that snoop dog's usually there too i'm surprised not to see him on the list you know that episode of friends where he makes a trifle shepherd's pie yeah that's that's that list i'm telling you uh calgary stampede is amazing you do need to go and and uh and i think the question will be what what type of julian do we get monday do we get partied out julian because it seems like a good good 10 days here uh croaky croaky croaky yeah a little raspy yeah just a little all right all right it sounds like paul maurice um hey so it's fraser minton's birthday today let's go fraser minton um freedom development
Starting point is 00:35:40 camps are on yeah i think i find out found out 12 different times that uh jake muzzin and is is mentoring ben danford uh that's crazy thrilled also ben danford is being mentored by jake muzzin that's crazy you know it's funny about that is jake muzzin's a coach and that's job that's that's yeah oh is he mentoring or is he literally doing his job which is training hockey players on the ice uh like what and you know what else what the hell he's mentoring ben danford yeah that's what i heard they were putting them through a shot blocking drill what i saw development camp tweets are the best because it's like you're like you think you're done and you're like oh no you're not done yet no there's a there's a bunch of rookies skating down the ice on one skate they're
Starting point is 00:36:23 hopping they're hopping the nba does summer basketball so much better than the nhl the summer hockey because like summer league's a thing oh yeah like people go into vegas every year in the middle i don't know when it'll be i don't know if it'll be interrupting the olympics or anything this year but because so it might not be have as much of an impact but usually end of july mid-july you go to vegas you watch all the rookies play summer league and it's like a thing and you meet and you schmooze and there's always news that comes out of it and the nhl we just get these weird tweets about jake muzzin mentoring a guy that he's literally paid to coach look at me skating he's skating we also like gosh it we forget this was a big deal when the leafs were
Starting point is 00:37:07 rebuilding yes yeah yeah if if you're the like if you're the sharks right now if you're the oh yeah this probably means a little bit more because it's your first look at a franchise cornerstone like i um i was at prospect camp when matthews was there you're one of these guys and i have i still have the sheet like the and i have it framed and you should see the names on it too there are a bunch of guys who ended up uh like dakota joshua's on it oh no way um oh man i gotta you know what i gotta go find it because there are a bunch of names if you're a young reporter by the way this is a really great way to get in it's oh it's stellar and also i get to know these guys before their stars the majority of the mainstream guys are like uncle no i'm not going
Starting point is 00:37:54 which which is so you go yeah because they're pooped they're pooped they're tired it's it's a listen it is a 24-7 job like i i went out for um i went out for drinks with cj at one point in like april or it might even be march it was just a gray soggy toronto day and um i think over the course of like a beer or two that we split because we weren't there long uh he he took like three different phone calls texts whatever oh yeah every day all the time so i could see why they're like yeah development camp give me a pass on that my favorite thing about development camp is the choice you make what you have to make a choice you either melt or freeze there's no proper way to dress you're going to an arena in the middle of july so you either dress for the arena or you dress
Starting point is 00:38:43 for outside i think you dress for the arena then i dress for outside because i'm gonna be spending more time outside after did austin matthews wear 34 a development game no i'm not sure no you don't know that i don't think he did i don't think he did i remember we were talking about asking the guy it was there it was the loo thing remember i don't remember the answer why is he wearing a different number and there's an upset no i'm asking you if if oh i don't remember if he got 34 at the camp i'm not sure okay okay i hope so i hope you were 34 because otherwise that's setting yeah i don't want to see it no bring in that sheet i think that'd be fun let's go over yeah i will absolutely uh hey big shout out to jessica campbell the first female assistant coach
Starting point is 00:39:24 in nhl history first female coach in nhl history among the like coach assistant coach you know obviously there's been skills coaches but what's great about jessica is she and dan bilesma worked together for a couple of years at the ahl affiliate and dan going up to be the the head coach of the crack and apparently just you know he was like i know what she can do we worked together for a couple years i want her with me and so uh it's a very exciting day and cj pointed this out on his show yesterday with julian that the nhl is the last professional league to have this the last of the four majors and that is really sad dude really sad it's one of those things where you're like hey that's great news and then you find out that tidbit and you're like oh okay how does that
Starting point is 00:40:10 affect how i enjoy this news no you're gonna still enjoy the news do you still enjoy the news is there room to enjoy the news and also go dude really yeah i think there's both okay yeah well that's where i'm at i'm enjoying the news but dude really yeah yeah yeah no and it's it's good to see um uh the old boys club work in her favor no i'm you know what she worked with me and i'm taking her with me yeah yep that's no that's the old boys club except she's in it now well that was the whole point no no i i love that is dan balsma going to be a disappointment because he lost the calder cup stop it you stop it he didn't he failed i mean he's i'm sure he's upset about it yeah and that means his nhl level success will be uh less than it would have been if he had won the calder
Starting point is 00:41:00 Cup right yes those look how successful Sheldon Keefe has been those several games are the are the decider did Sheldon Keefe oh I didn't realize the point you were trying to make damn that's a really good point and uh Kyle Dubas's success winning the Calder Cup uh have a lot to do with their tenure in Toronto do we have a friend who has an opinion on that since this era you know what no winning does matter I'll tell you this Sheldon Keefe did nothing but win in the regular season so so maybe dan bousma will do nothing but win in the playoffs he's done that so he won a cup with them with the penguins did he not did he win their away no i was he not wasn't he the one who got fired no that was uh that was the other coach it wasn't biles mike sullivan was there
Starting point is 00:41:45 for 16 and 17 i don't remember who the coach was in 09 it might have been bilesma i think it was bousman uh bousman's the one who took over there you go stanley cup in the 0809 uh penguins cup run and there was a coaching change to mike sullivan whenever pittsburgh won the first of those two cups and then it was mike johnson mike johnson there you go oh yeah there was an in between yeah yeah yeah that wasn't good um so yeah a big shout out to jessica so that's really really exciting this show is sponsored by better help uh listen summer time for reflection time for you to maybe consider getting a little therapy and as i said jesse made fun of me last episode for this the real new year i do that a lot the real new year is labor day to early september that's
Starting point is 00:42:27 the real new year he's right get yourself reset for the real new year which is just after labor calendar for let me check 2024 years after jesus it's a fiscal otherwise it's a fiscal it's it's your human being fiscal right because every business has its own fiscal year right and then You got your normal calendar here, but then there's the human being fiscal, which is everything starts in September. Everything new starts in September. Do you talk to your therapist about like the troubles of being a billionaire? I do.
Starting point is 00:42:54 Your mind immediately went to like fiscal and money because you have so much of it. Yeah. I say, listen, billionaires don't worry about money. Mr. Therapist, I ran out of things to buy. What do I do now? And then I let him tell me. You build a rocket ship that looks like you're the phallic. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:10 Yeah. Go to the moon. Now there's somebody who might be able to use better help. i'm not saying that uh better help better help.com better help use the code sdp better help.com slash sdp get 10 off your first month and avoid building spaceships that look like wieners better help better help.com slash sdp um something i wanted to get to on the last show and uh obviously we ran out of time is edmonton edmonton is in a really unique position in the league this year it's they're good there's they are goodminton but there is some badminton
Starting point is 00:43:52 is there some badminton badminton potentially potentially now the first let's start with the goodminton the goodminton is that uh jeff skinner who i i repeatedly called stewart skinner jeff skinner throughout my streams in the playoffs now it's gonna get even worse now it's gonna get more complicated yes uh jeff skinner spurned the maple leafs is one of the hot headlines i heard uh the leafs were in on him oilers were in on him he chose to play next to connor mcdavid who can play well he gets to play on the better line um the least we're trying to sell him on playing with matthews and marner which tells me that matthews and marner will not will be reunited on the top line next year cool oh yeah great super we'll save all that for cj if you first you don't succeed
Starting point is 00:44:34 try try try try try try try try try again also connor brown re-signed adam henryk who was a deadline pickup signed for a couple years matthias yanmark is back uh you know warren fogel is the only guy from that group that left how don't you feel horrible for him is the only guy well he signed for three million bucks oh okay now i don't feel horrible at all yeah no listen never in warren fogel's wildest dreams okay he played great in edmonton he did you sure did but like that's that's pretty good it's great money uh evander kane is an interesting one because when you look at the way their lines are set right now evander kane doesn't slot in in the top six and that's a weapon dude on the third line the oilers here's the thing about the
Starting point is 00:45:20 oilers right now on july 5th oh happy uh last day of cat friendly day i was gonna save that for the oh okay well a little eulogy you do that um not only do the oilers look incredible and they look like a stanley cup contender here on july 5th there's room for them to get better there is like there's some moves they could make on the back end like small ones could make them better evander kane out someone else in can make them better i like i've seen oh man look at this top six and it has dylan holloway on on the second line left wing and ryan nugent hopkins is the third line center and i'm like you know what's crazy is that top six is going to look even better when you put holloway to 3c and nuge up to 2 lw yep oh and also they're so good don't
Starting point is 00:46:11 forget about potentially a healthy victor arvidson a healthy victor arvidson um a full season of adam henrik yes he didn't play for much for them in the regular season i don't remember when they got the playoffs he was very effective for them and and wanted to stick around and i think this is what's so cool about this team they are they are very deep at center uh mcdavid dry sidle newton hopkins henrik i don't think it gets much better than that that's pretty cool did you have the evan bouchard news in there yes so that's in the badminton segment okay the goodminton sure um so and then you know on on the back end they seem to have figured out what they really need to do which is less nurse cc together yes more anything else uh anything they got vinnie day
Starting point is 00:46:54 harney no he's gone no but they got cheaper vinnie day harney who do they get josh brown oh yeah yeah that's right big mean right-handed yeah does he do much we're not sure you killed the man but not the idea day or nay signed for a lot of money like oh like two million bucks with term for a guy who wasn't in the lineup every game. Like, I do like that defenseman. People will say, hey, you guys signed Lilligrid at $3 million, and we would agree with you. I hate when people do that, dude.
Starting point is 00:47:26 I hate when people, well, what about the Leafs? What about the Leafs? It's not about the Leafs. It's not about the Leafs. Oh, yeah, I notoriously am on board with everything they're doing. Like, what are you talking about? Get in there and make it about the Leafs. Get in there and make it about the Leafs.
Starting point is 00:47:37 People always make it about the Leafs, and it's not who you think. Now, let me tell you, the badminton segment, there's the Goodminton and the badminton. The badminton is a couple of things. Daniel Nugent Bowman for The Athletic has already written an article about Leon Dreisaitl and why the Oilers shouldn't trade him. Should not. And that was a week ago. There is no extension in place. I can tell you this.
Starting point is 00:48:03 If in Toronto, now the Oilers did just go to the finals and lose by a goal. Yes. So I can understand this. The thing that's not really being talked about in Edmonton is Leon Dreisaitl. And is he going to resign? Because to me, there's a domino effect. As Jesse mentioned, he alluded to the Evan Bouchard news. Jesse, what's the Evan Bouchard news as of this morning? Daniel Nugent Bowman tweeted this morning, I'm told it's unlikely the Oilers and Evan Bouchard, RFA in 2025 with Arb Rights, UFA in 2027, will discuss an extension this summer. Edmonton has more pressing things to address. The GM, Drysaddle and McDavid. Bouchard, high likelihood of building off Norris fifth place and starring in the playoffs. So no Bouchard extension coming this summer is the tweet. So the question is, when Drysaddle and McDavid get together at a cottage somewhere and they discuss, they'll likely make this decision together. Because I think if Leon is going to sign, he wants to know that Connor is going to be there. And if Connor is going to sign, I think he wants to know that Leon is going to be there. You want advice from a Leaf fan? Just do it over text.
Starting point is 00:49:17 Don't do it at the cottage? No, the Leafs had lots of cottage things. It didn't do it. Well, that was about performance. The Oilers don't have to worry about that. They performed. No, they don't have to worry about that. I love Gary's NHL. Punish the shit out of the Oilers for being good. They're not going to be able to afford this team. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:32 Break up Connor McDavid and Leon. Yeah. Well, I don't know if that's what it's going to be. I think the Oilers would find a way to afford them. You know, Leon has, of the seven-year deal, he's put 500-point seasons on the board at $8.5 million. Unbelievable. It's the best contract Peter Chiarelli ever signed.
Starting point is 00:49:51 Oh, by a country mile. Except for the McDavid contract. well uh although the mcdavid contract's a lot higher i think value wise maybe it's leon my point is this yeah you've got a lot riding on this next season if you are an oilers fan or an oilers player i think you got to look at this like it really doesn't matter what happens in july next year the only thing that matters is the next 10 or 11 months go back to the cup do what the the panthers did and win it and one thing that's special about the offseason is when people who aren't from north america go back to other countries oh i love this and they get and
Starting point is 00:50:32 they have quotes and they give it to the local other country media what did nikita kucherov say this time this time it's leon drysaddle's agent who spoke oh and leon drysaddle's agent uh yuri pohner oh okay told ice hockey that's eis hockey news in germany that the ball is in the oilers court there's no rush yet but either it happens quickly i.e by the end of august or it doesn't work out at all pohner said it will also become clear whether edmonton really wants him or not pohner believes dry saddle has been playing at least 30 below his value for several seasons Yeah. Coming off of a deal that earned him just eight point five million against the salary cap. It's obvious why he may think that. Yeah. No, no, for sure.
Starting point is 00:51:19 He has. So the question will be, are the Oilers willing to go in 13? Shout out to Nick Horwath of Breakaway, who on that Sports Illustrated with the quote there. Are we sure that's a real person? Why? No, because they write AI articles. oh my gosh uh i i i i think i think you know like matthews is 13 and a half how if you're 13 and a quarter 13 and a quarter how if you're leon drysada do you not go i'm worth more than that how do you not and you've given the discount oh yeah you've already given the home count hometown discount you now need to go and get what is it 13 by 8 14 by 7 if he goes to free agency
Starting point is 00:52:04 here's what I'm trying to figure out 8.5 wait no I don't think I did that right yeah here we go 8.5 times 0.3 no you're doing this wrong Steve I'm going to do it right this time
Starting point is 00:52:19 he's been playing 30% below his value 8.5 times 1.3 math 11 million and 50 thousand dollars so that's what he thinks he should have been making yes for the past half decade and now the cap's going up yeah yeah man um an eight-year extension for dry side all look like that's massive i just oh does he pass mcdavid yes oh yeah like how doesn't he at least be the second
Starting point is 00:52:54 highest paid player in the league it's probably going to be 108 to 110 million dollars this this extension and i think the oilers do it in a heartbeat i think his agent is full of patootie there oh yeah full of patoots all right i think what do you mean it's in the oilers court what are you talking about what are you talking about you know the oil give us all the money absolutely give him that money you know it's absolutely not in the oilers court it's absolutely not in the oilers court who holds all the cards here guys leon but that's why he's saying it's in the oilers court it's not though no no here's here's what i think is being said there's court to acquiesce to all of his demands okay yes yes yeah no i feel i nailed it that's what he's saying that's
Starting point is 00:53:43 100 he's correct so there are here's why i think a negotiation with leon dry settle is actually very easy um and connor mcdavid most players there's a back and forth sure and you gotta negotiate yep and you gotta argue there's no arguing here nope i'm sorry what could i have done better over the past half decade what could i have done better over the course of this deal oh oh fucking nothing literally nothing give me everything get what could the oilers possibly say besides pretty please i think that's exactly what i'm saying that's all they can do and which leon and his agent have obviously already told them no well no we're simply not doing that and if you believe for a second that these two haven't talked you're out of your mind they've
Starting point is 00:54:38 absolutely talked jeff jackson has absolutely talked to leon's agent absolutely absolutely absolutely if he hadn't he should be fired that's what it should be so careful adam you're gonna get blocked on twitter by him too so what i'm gonna look at here is i'm gonna look at this this to me is not a deal about money this is a deal about geography geography do you want to be here or do you not the oilers are going to give these two players mcdavid and dry sidle blank check yeah what do you want so austin's the highest paid player right next start next season 1325 and that won't last so what what do they come at 14 oh my god i think leon's 13 and a half and i think connor's 14 can you wow can you win with two players making 14 you can't win with four but
Starting point is 00:55:23 you can almost win with two yeah i think you can yeah because the players are leon and mcdavid you probably can and i also look at it like this guys okay so if their percentage of cap is relatively similar in connor's case more than leon's because connor makes a lot of money versus what leon makes um you can you can find guys like uh um Nugent's a draft pick but you can find Evander Kane you can find Jeff Skinner you can find Adam Henrik you can find all of these guys that come in and want to play you gotta you gotta send a first round pick to get rid of Darnell Nurse at that point probably oh right you have to get rid of that contract I don't think that's enough dude he makes nine and a quarter yeah you need to that's a lot you need to find the next tanker
Starting point is 00:56:07 like what is his okay so we talked about leon he he should have been making 11 this whole time according to him he was making eight and a half what should nurse be at five or six and that's even this is a good six million dollar defense i think he's good and even it might be high that might be spicy high but that's like ufa number matt roy was six oh yeah oh yeah i honestly on my team i'd rather take matt roy i'd have darn on there so would you have darn oh yeah oh i don't know every day i don't know like and what's jake chickrenworth i think if if darnell nurse was a free agent this offseason he would sign the highest deal out of any defenseman well yeah you know yeah think about the open market darnell yeah 100 i think actually brandon that's a good
Starting point is 00:56:54 one that's a good one i i think montour that's why i think darnell is like a six what's what's montour 7.125 or something okay yeah i think he'd come in over nurse your reaction's so funny yeah You're like, no way. Oh, that's a good one. That's a good answer. Like, I'd take Monta every day over Darn. And I like Darn. I think he's just slightly overpaid.
Starting point is 00:57:16 Yeah. Because I think he's coming in at probably seven on the open market. A lot of people are not going to like that you said that, but you're totally right. You know what? Rhett Pesci, too. What did he come at? He came at five.
Starting point is 00:57:28 At five? And Brady Shea was seven, wasn't he? Shea, yeah. But Brady Shea does everything. Right. like he is everywhere he can he can kill penalties he can run a power play he's amazing so free agent defenseman it'd probably be montour yeah shea nurse yes there we go that's what i would think again still way overpaid like overpaid by like probably in the neighborhood of three mil
Starting point is 00:57:56 two and a half mil um for how many more years six five six yeah his contract goes on for yeah man but the the point was the leon and the mcdavid deals and i think at 14 and we assume 13 and a half you know but it's like with the leafs in their core there you there's no room for fat you so okay you gotta find ridiculous deals that nudge deal is great oh it's a great contract the hyman deal is great the cap hit that they have ekholm at is great for an extra year uh what they have bouchard at is great and they thought it's gonna be tough well here's what's probably gonna happen with him is they bridge him knowing that they're just gonna get murdered on the next deal bouchard's gonna pk suban though that's exactly what it is signed for like five
Starting point is 00:58:53 mil for like one year and then win the norris and be a 12 million dollar defenseman he's it's actually the parallels are crazy yeah yeah right-handed and all that no the parallels are crazy um with him that's that's probably the move though yeah and what else can you do it comes back to this you've got to keep that window open as long as you have those two guys the bouchard is not going to talk contract because the oilers are not going to talk contract until they know mcdavid dry saddle and you can make the argument that if dry saddle or mcdavid or both leave bouchard is now worth more to the oilers because they got and so who's gonna give the puck to that well it doesn't matter he becomes one of the best players on the team and i think that's where it's
Starting point is 00:59:34 like okay well now my market value just went up because i mean i matter more to this team now and i look at this and i think uh i i'm not ever like again this if this will go back to pittsburgh where it's like i'm not trying to take anything away from the oilers here but this is a very real thing that could happen i think this is geography do you want to live in edmonton at the end of this deal for 15 20 years or do you not and and it's not that edmonton is a bad place to live far from it there's over a million people there they all seem to like it but the reality of the situation is in the nhl there are markets that are are hot markets for free agency edmonton was this year because they went to the finals yeah but edmonton has had a devil of a
Starting point is 01:00:17 time trying to sign free agents in the past and so you know this is going to come down to do you want to live in edmonton or not do you want to be an oiler or not and to their credit like to jeff jackson's well i guess ken holland's credit because he's the one who built this roster human beings signed to the edmonton oilers nhl roster the season that conor mcdavid becomes a free agent human beings five that's amazing that's the entire roster the rest of the roster is entirely wow that's amazing season mcdavid is the ufa that means you can work this money around for the next two years however you want knowing that that 14 15 million dollar contract is coming you can build this roster for that so i i think the owners have done a wonderful job in building this
Starting point is 01:00:59 team besides a couple contracts and that because you can get to that stage where mcdavid's gonna be looking at his next big deal and you have so much room to to work that they'll be set up pretty fine yep i when we have these conversations sometimes i catch myself and i go wait a second which one of you's talking right now is it leaf fan steve who would love connor mcdavid to be a leaf or is it the steve who cheers for greatness like that's who's talking right now like we're trying to figure out how they keep this together because you know oh yeah connor could go here and leon could go why does he i don't like that for some reason no that makes me feel weird because and this is the difference between this conversation and the crosby conversation
Starting point is 01:01:44 these guys have a chance to win yeah the windows just opening yeah that's over yeah this oh guys you really have a shot here yeah i mean look at the way the team is built i think they're looking at it like listen would it be better to have an answer a year out yeah but we've all been at the bar going you know i'm gonna be real hung over tomorrow but it sure would be fun to have another shot tonight sure would be fun to have another shot though yeah and then that's how you you know you go to the stanley cup final and then ever you know and you hopefully win and then everyone walks and that's when you wake up and go oh at least we want to go back what a great that was a pretty good time though yeah yeah uh and i just wonder if that's the strategy i think them winning next
Starting point is 01:02:36 year would be the the nail in the coffin for any team hoping to get a hold of dry saddle or mcdavid i think they stay at that point i don't know even it depends it completely depends on if you don't stay like sydney crosby went eight years or sorry even if you don't um win next year sorry if you don't say even if you don't win next year sydney crosby went eight years in between cups you know yeah yeah he did no he did yeah yeah it's eight unless you count you don't count the year then it's seven oh nine to sixteen or oh seven or away to sixteen i don't know math yeah so seven seven years between cups like there could be a long time before they get back but if they stick together I believe they're going to get one eventually.
Starting point is 01:03:17 So the window is opening now, but sometimes it just takes a long time. You know, Gino and Sidney Crosby didn't do it every single year. Yep. Just keep it together, and eventually Edmonton's going to get one. I like it. I like the discussions, and I think it will be one of the more interesting stories to play out over the next season because I don't think we're going to get clarity on this until spring next year. And that's why I'm looking forward to following it.
Starting point is 01:03:42 Now, hey, question for you guys. when what happened jesse when we brought up arizona and arena deals steve walked out right now why i don't want to ask steve i want to ask you because it was all poopy none of it was true now until i was right until there was real news steve refused to talk about it and because the news that was coming out was all kind of fake news that was peddled by morello and no i thought it was i thought it was criticized by the fake canadian bully media no you ever notice that That was another time, by the way, where we got Canadian media.
Starting point is 01:04:15 Oh, yeah. It's not just the Canadian media. It really doesn't want hockey to work in Arizona. Dude, our best player is Austin Matthews. Yes, we do. It's just lazy bullshit. Do we have news? Yeah, we do.
Starting point is 01:04:25 We have news with the franchise that was the franchise formerly known as the Coyotes. Oh, this better be good. Salt Lake and Ryan Smith's SEG group are close to finalizing a $900 million deal for arena and renovations and a new sports district. The deal would require the Jazz and the Utah HC to play in the Delta Center every home game, every home game. That means no home games in Europe for the next 30 years or face significant penalties.
Starting point is 01:04:56 So because the city is going to put significant money into this. They have a gun to his head or something? Well, I think it's like if you want city money, we better see this back. What about like an outdoor game? Well, I'm sure that there'll be some. Utah would be a great location. Or like a game in Germany. You're like, what the hell is going on?
Starting point is 01:05:14 I guess you would have to buy it back. What? So here's the deal. In exchange for $900 million in public financing to renovate the arena and develop three block sports and entertainment district, much like you see, I think, in Philadelphia. Philadelphia's got a really good one. Philly's cool because you can go to all three stadiums within the block. It's the best. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:05:34 Yeah. uh smith entertainment group would agree to pay 125 million if either team leaves the arena in the first 15 years or 250 if they both leave with penalties uh decreasing by about 16 million a year after that blah blah blah the point is that utah like salt lake salt lake city is ponying up to to do this and it's very interesting because um the first off what i find interesting about this is they're like, listen, if we're going to make a public investment in this, and I'm assuming they think they're going to get their tax dollars back. And you know how we already feel about this. We don't need to go into it. Fine. But they recognize that this is a small market. And one
Starting point is 01:06:13 of the things that when it was announced that Utah was going to get a hockey team, was going to get the Coyotes, a lot of people said, hey, that's great. But they have an arena that only 12,000 people are going to be able to see the ice. Yes, they'll do renovations to it. But this is not some slam dunk hockey market although the players getting off the plane kind of showed that maybe it was this is not a a los angeles this is not a new york this is not a toronto this is not a boston this is not this is a pittsburgh it's a team that's going to need to live on the passion of the fans it's not a seattle it's not a vegas utah is smaller than that salt lake is passionate about their teams and they didn't have many for a long long time but this is going to have to be one of
Starting point is 01:07:02 those where the city and the team work very very closely together to keep those teams viable over the next 30 years and i think that's a very very interesting way to tie them and keep them in the state right okay you want us to spend money well you can't freaking leave man also like oh man only 12 000 people okay cool so their attendance is going to triple sure exactly and and by the way the delta center is going to be redone as quickly as possible yeah with the construction on the outside happening over the next three to five years so the idea is it's 12 000 this year but then next summer they do a bunch of renos and then maybe it's 15 and then maybe it's 18 and then you're good but they they have a lot of work to do on this and and from a business perspective
Starting point is 01:07:43 you know it is it is rational to talk about the fact you know how many companies have their head offices in salt lake city you know i don't know that's that's the thing is it becomes like it's like ottawa one of the issues with ottawa is not the size of the market it's the nature of the market the market is mostly government and and it's a capital city but it's very different from like what americans would know is you know dc is why big groups and this and that and well tons of people have an office or a corporate office there just to lobby the government in ottawa it's not like that um it's it's mostly um government it's not a lot of huge businesses operate out of ottawa Well, they're going to operate out of Montreal.
Starting point is 01:08:23 They're going to operate out of mostly Toronto if you're going to be in this area. The thing about the Jets and their corporate night blew my mind. Absolutely. Same problem. The Jets' corporate night is a road game. Yes, in Toronto.
Starting point is 01:08:37 Yes. Like, that's crazy. Like, I was at it, right? Yeah. They were trying to get Adam to invest in the team. That's right. Like, okay, so we're struggling a little. We need the bailout from a billionaire.
Starting point is 01:08:48 Let's invite Adam to our box. maybe he can send us like maybe one billion and we can be viable you know no let let the people pay the tax i was talking to mark chipman or chips as i call them oh i was like chip i was like chips i need a little more on ice success before i can put some money into this oh yeah yeah and also you're not allowed to win against leagues what did you tell him about shifley i said i i've said it's a good deal good value deal okay yeah no it was a good value deal i just didn't like him and uh what's his face uh blake wheeler together i think blake wheeler and him were not a great combo i guess you guys aren't that close because that's not my nickname
Starting point is 01:09:21 for him what is it chipman cool ranch oh stop it because chip is he said yeah that's why oh you can pick any chip uh yeah i picked cool i kind of good i thought it was very good i don't mind it i don't know i don't mind it uh anyway that's that's not i just thought it was funny that coyotes fans waited 20 25 years for an arena deal and seattle were able to get theirs done in six months seattle utah you mean sorry utah were able to get theirs done in six so there's too many new teams there is yeah geez the thing is like can't wait to go to 36 arizona couldn't do they could not do anything there uh and i think that has to do with the ownership group i think i think ryan smith is embedded in this community uh he's well connected uh to the government forces he can go in and make
Starting point is 01:10:10 a compelling case it's pretty easy case to make that this is good for the city and uh murella was not able to do that and neither were the five or six guys before him bear away the nhl like whoever owned it before none of those guys could make that case because they were incompetent it's not because the value wasn't there everybody recognizes the value and at the end no city person like anybody worked for the city didn't trust alex morello right nobody in any kind of government position anybody's going to hand out a construction contract anything like that wants to do business with alex morello and his money how do you do business with a person like you can't and then that's what we saw at the bitter end is they refuse to do any kind of
Starting point is 01:10:51 good work with this gentleman because you can't trust them yeah he was offering like to bid millions and millions of dollars for a plot of land and they said keep it no we don't want that money nope no thanks we don't trust in fact we don't even want you to get a chance to buy it we're gonna cancel the auction of which you're the only better unlike semantics yeah oh you better get a permit first wait a second i don't even own the land yeah tell you what alex keep your monorail beat it yeah yeah that's what they did and so one of the first topics we did and north haverbrook i remember the first podcast we did the first episode we did the fifth fourth or fifth topic that i had lined up for us was arizona at the time phoenix uh and the arena deal and we
Starting point is 01:11:36 talked for 10 years about it and in a matter of months of being in utah maybe a month of being in utah they get an arena deal done i just think that's kind of funny yeah but we were bullying sorry there's a smudge on my phone oh it says valid criticism ah no we were bullying the americans you know canadians able to bully the country 10 times our size uh hey big shout out to before we get to the press conference i want to do a big shout out to cap friendly this is the last day that they are live and they are live right now i believe at uh midnight tonight uh it will be the end for cat friendly publicly and a big shout out to all the guys uh behind the scenes who worked so hard on this website the reason that the reaction to pop or cat friendly
Starting point is 01:12:21 leaving is so strong and and in a lot of cases negative is because they did such a great job Oh, yeah. And, you know, not only do they do a great job for fans, they did a great job for teams who hired them and use their service. And I think that I want to congratulate them one more time for making hopefully millions of dollars. I hope so. I think because they deserve it. I want to congratulate them for getting to work in the candy store. that you get to work in an NHL market. You're working for Ovi's team? Sick. And I just think, big shout out to those guys and to the next generation, because we've seen this before. Cap Geek.
Starting point is 01:13:02 What was the other one? Oh, General Fanager. Now Cap Friendly. Puckpedia looks to be the next one to take over the mantle. And we know the owner of Puckpedia is a great guy. I will tell you this. Cap Friendly were spectacular. the guys were always so great to deal with they set a ridiculous standard big congratulations to
Starting point is 01:13:23 them big congratulations that's cool that's all i'm gonna say it's your favorite cat friendly memory boys oh oh man when there was a trade and i went there and it was already updated that's a very good answer oh man there was another trade and i went there i used cat friendly like four times in the last 10 minutes like it's it's an invaluable resource and i'm truly gonna miss it because it's just it's in my brain it's unconscious to oh we need to talk about crosby there it is and i don't even think about going to cap friendly so i'm gonna miss it dearly i gotta change like my internal habits and how i think about things yeah it's crazy puckpedia um i know some people don't necessarily like the interface or the layout of it get used to it
Starting point is 01:14:10 Things are going to improve. Yeah, you'll also get used to it. Like, do you hate it or did you just not try? I think that's what it is. People complained, by the way, about CapFriendly when Fandager went away. Of course. And like one of the, yeah. Big time.
Starting point is 01:14:22 People complained about Fandager when CapGeek went away. You know, there's, I really like the feature where they do value of draft picks. I really like the feature. Well, I don't know if it's a feature. they just say all the uh every single player it says their agents um oh i love that and it has and you can look up the agents in their entire client list yep love that that's where i used to go for that it is actually helpful because you can kind of you click on certain agents and you can see a theme with how the contract negotiations go with their players um you know if they're all
Starting point is 01:15:01 represented by one guy and he's active um you'd be amazed how often you can find trends so good luck to puckpedia and anyone else trying to fill that void because you're filling some very big shoes absolutely and uh best of luck to them and i hope the last few years of ov's uh time in washington are a lot of fun to be around i look forward and you would be surprised hearing this from me to the pierre luke du bois resurgence because i think it's going to be fun they got to figure out how to get that team under the salary cap. I think they're like 14 million. Backstrom takes care of most
Starting point is 01:15:34 of it, and I think TJ Oshie might not play. Yeah, that's what the CJ show mentioned. So right now, with less than 24 hours remaining in CapFriendly's existence, the Washington Capitals are actually winning. They're at the top of the leaderboard. They're spending the most money. So when
Starting point is 01:15:50 CapFriendly goes offline, the Washington Capitals will have won CapFriendly. That's how it works. They win. They're number one in the cap-friendly, Matty, if you want to pull it up. I think this... Washington, number one.
Starting point is 01:16:03 This is also a good argument for buying the team. Or for, well, buying the team. For buying the Capitals. Or for God's sakes. What are you... For buying cap-friendly. This is a good argument for buying cap-friendly because they're in such a precarious position
Starting point is 01:16:20 with their cap. Holy fuck, are we done? We're going to do a press conference here, so let's do that. Shout out to cap-friendly. Presser S.D.P. The Steve Dangle Press Conference. All right.
Starting point is 01:16:34 First question. This one comes from Save Me East. Save Me a Seat underscore USA. Not even where are the apples already? Adam? Oh, I guess I should bring the question. The question is for you. Where are the apples?
Starting point is 01:16:55 Do you have a favorite type of apples, guys? we've had this conversation eight times well i haven't written it down so bring me some granny smiths granny smiths i like a granny smith yeah granny smith it is this is a funny one this is from son of the bay how is steve dangle handling his blood blood pressure given marner is probably starting with the team it's actually pretty chill no no the the the blood pressure was up last week when it became obvious oh they're just happy losing um and so that was upsetting but now i've moved on to acceptance they're just they're gonna try to do it you went through all the stages and by the way they're just gonna try to do it the same way again what do you say to those
Starting point is 01:17:42 by the way starting with marner is never the problem it's the end the end of the season that's the problem he's gonna go on such a tear this he's gonna he's gonna and people are gonna be dicks about it like they've never watched hockey before well and i saw what i would ask is that steve if marner does well and he performs in the playoffs what are you going to do cheer for my team that he plays for and be like lol i'm wrong i think i have a pretty good track record of being like lol i'm wrong um you know that's a thing in in sports media where you're no you're never wrong ever you double and triple down on everything um but he's played in eight series as a member of the toronto maple leafs they've won one of them there's no evidence to
Starting point is 01:18:30 suggest this is going to end well okay all right next question is from jason can montreal make it into the playoffs this year no so you look at the habs and you go oh that's a decent team you look at the atlantic and you go you need to be a little bit more than decent yeah because you're gonna have to like okay there's the bruins there's the panthers forgot about those panthers um there's the lightning there's the leafs who you can at least count on to be a decent regular season team um so there's four right there oh boy buffalo's had a really disappointing offseason so far Ottawa takes a step probably um Detroit takes a step I don't know if Ottawa takes a step I'm not convinced well if Detroit takes a step they don't need to take a huge
Starting point is 01:19:24 step they get into the playoff they just need to not collapse yeah what do they need like five six points yeah February to April they were dog shit and they just need to not do that this year the Habs I think start with being a better team than they were last year and then they go from there can they make the playoff sure if if uh larkin stays healthy like red wings are there like that's the reason they kind of took that dip and like so i don't think there's room for the habs i low-key like the the cane and tarasenko signings for the wings yeah i think part of the issue they had last year was um depth scoring and and they need to replace the david perron number they're good i think they did and the the other thing i want to say is the question for me with
Starting point is 01:20:04 detroit is defense here's what needs to happen for montreal to to break it you first off you got to jump ottawa you got to jump buffalo and you got to jump uh detroit so then you got it because i'm assuming that montreal is probably not better than boston i think something crazy just did this i know but let me just let me just say this you do it too okay not if he says it it's better not better than toronto not better than uh florida you know not better than tampa we think the other issue for montreal for me is you've got to have your best players take a bigger step forward you know cole caulfield as good as he is still had 65 points last year nick suzuki had 77 points these guys you know are 23 24 years old they're going to take a step forward but at a
Starting point is 01:20:48 certain point and same with slavkoski too he had a great back half you can build on that but those guys need to be regularly above a point a game and sam montembeau has got to have a goals against to average under three uh you know they signed him for he was good he was good team was not good in front of him okay his save percentage is like a 903 really good on a bad team really good Hudson has to be everything he's been advertised and is Caden Primo ready well there's a lot of there's a lot of you know I was looking at that because I was going to say no he's not and part of the reason I have that perception of him is for years now the Habs have been playing Primo way before he's ready last year he played 23 games and he had a 9 10 that's great i am shocked the number's that
Starting point is 01:21:35 high so if him and montembo can be a decent tandem for them i mean if you have a decent goalie tandem you always have a shot yeah i think there's two things that the montreal canadians can do this year get into the hunt sniff it a little bit and then at the trade deadline deal joel armia deal christian dvorak try to find somebody to take that josh anderson deal and get even younger uh or get get either prospects or picks for that stay even a little and then next year they have a ton of money to spend in free agency savard's off the books dvorak uh uh armia um if you can find a hole for josh anderson somewhere five and a half million bucks power forwards come playoff time seem really valuable i don't know i think that they can get better i don't think they're gonna
Starting point is 01:22:22 to make the playoffs. All right. The next thing comes from Adam Wilde. He sent over Cody Rhodes and Money in the Bank is coming up in Toronto. Cody Rhodes has a special surprise for Steve Dangle. Hey, Toronto, this is the American Nightmare. Cody Rhodes, or I should say the undisputed WWE champion, the American Nightmare. Cody Rhodes, I am very excited about Money in the Bank coming to Toronto next weekend. Thank you for having us in your fair city and Leaf Nation. This little number will be on sale there. Obviously, you guys know about doing the work. Have done the work in next season.
Starting point is 01:23:20 Hope to finish your story. Not only this shirt, this wonderful custom weight belt, again, for Elite Nation. Toronto, thank you very much. I look forward to Money in the Bank. I look forward to seeing you all there. Steve Dangle, will you be investing in any of these two products? That looks like a Facebook t-shirt. Wow.
Starting point is 01:23:42 wow that's a facebook t-shirt i born in march and i am a dangle therefore watch out does my leafs offends you um uh no it's not for me i like i grew up watching edge uh or adam copeland as he is known now um Cody Rhodes is like sort of new to me um also like we grew up Cody Rhodes has been along for around for a long time he's been around for a long time okay fine then I just don't like the shirt there you go it's it's fine it's fine I don't know he's just he's not my favorite thing going I enjoy him I do enjoy him and I really liked Wrestlemania um I think WWE is smart as hell for doing this oh yeah uh i i don't know if edge was the first foray into this but he did that and i was like well i'm buying that immediately um and i just don't have the same feeling for
Starting point is 01:24:41 this one i'll probably end up buying it anyway okay all right i have another question of if you're gonna buy this because maddie here it is this david alter wrote a little blurb on this in the hockey news so wwd also this weekend is selling a custom austin 316 shirt for uh steve austin but they are spelling it like austin matthews and it's available at scotia bank arena if you're at money at the bank so will you be picking up this one see i just don't like white t-shirts but oh yeah like i'd do it that's a great shirt it's a great shirt do they feel like giving me one and then on the back i'm sure it's 40 bucks is that oh yeah so they've changed the Spelling of Stone Cold Steve Austin to Austin Matthews.
Starting point is 01:25:27 That's pretty fun, right? Yes. See, that gives me the nostalgia tingles and also the current tingles. So I like it better. All right. So we've solved that. I like that. We got a maybe on the Austin 316 and a big fat no on Cody Rhodes.
Starting point is 01:25:44 Next question. I thought this is a fun one and I'm going to expand on it. uh magums wrote what would steve do with his day with the cup in 2048 and i think the question should just be if you guys get the cup what are you doing with it and leo yeah no leo when he's 28 years old uh brings the cup home in his prime um so you got a day with the cup what are you doing say leo won the stanley cup he brings it home to daddy and he says daddy you get to do whatever you want with it so leo wins the stanley cup here's the thing i can i can raise him i can bring him to all the practices all the skates i'm bringing him skating tomorrow i i can bring him
Starting point is 01:26:26 summer skating yeah oh nice they got they got that's nice in ajax no so i gotta take him to oshawa oh old stomping ground yeah um but all that stuff uh after all that that's my job he's got to put in the work the blood the sweat the tears to win the stanley cup so it is his day with it so i am gonna do whatever he wants me okay new question let's say you won the stand yeah no kidding oh my god i don't care about fucking giving you took all that time to say i'll do what he'll do with it oh my god i was trying to be cool like ice in the cradle in the silver spoon a little more blue and the man on the moon like just sing that when you're bringing cup home i don't know when but we'll be together then all right also we do know when 2048 yeah so
Starting point is 01:27:20 stupid answer give us a good answer what are you doing with the stanley cup if you get it uh seafood pasta um with a shitload of chili flakes yes um in the cup and i'm gonna like uh luongo uh yes exactly like you don't have a spot you'd you want to bring it like a place it's a black dog that's where you want to bring it to the black dog i want to be the fourth that's an answer oh well no i want i want to bring it there for the fourth time and be the third person to do it first two were chris draper and davante smith pelly nice yes okay adam do you have a you ever thought about this if you win the cup i'd probably do the hockey hockey player cottage thing my wife's got a cottage and or my wife's family has a cottage so i would for sure take it
Starting point is 01:28:03 to uh take it to the cottage let the kids build a sandcastle up around it um and uh yeah spend the day drinking beers and listening to music and enjoying my stanley cup in the uh nice cool ontario water that's a good one i feel like a lot of hockey players do that yeah that's a fun that be fun right yeah i'll be having a a great day with the isla when she wins her uh her first pwhl title as well why can't she win the nhl why can't she win this thing you know what why not yeah why are you hating i'm not hating what i think first of all why am i hating the lack of sleep the diapers i think uh if i won the cup i'd probably i try and do something i don't think any nhl players ever done i'd bring or the stanley cup's ever been i'd probably bring it to trinidad
Starting point is 01:28:49 where my dad is from like i bring it to port of spain the capital i don't think stanley cup's ever been to trinidad and tobago so i think i want to be the person to bring it there if i won the stanley cup wasn't that a cj show conversation like has the cup ever been to the southern hemisphere it went to australia like no i think it was 32 thoughts who did it oh it was 32 yeah somebody asked them if it was ever been to australia and it went like a year ago because they played games there didn't they yes they did they did remember logan cooley like dangled dangled remember he had the oh that freaking goal yeah yeah that was awesome uh this one comes from contrasted what the fuck on twitter right that's their twitter handle
Starting point is 01:29:28 uh not a question just standing in solidarity with your love for yarn croak i am a fan of yarn croak i think he's very useful i can't understand the hate that he is receiving lately here's where it comes from i'll just answer this he's a player on the roster that makes more than a million dollars and and and that's part of the problem with the way the leafs are structured their cap is guys that make like he's making two million dollars lilligran makes 900 grand more than this guy lilligran i think people forget how great cali yarn croak is because he was injured so much last year but this guy is extremely valuable what is it we all know that person who just you know pops a painkiller every day and won't go to the fucking doctor
Starting point is 01:30:11 and that's the leaf um like geez like no like oh yeah no let's let's get rid of yarn croak and replace him with some league men guy who's not as good yeah most league men guys are known for scoring between 15 and 20 goals every goddamn year no no play center kills penalties like can move them up into the top six when somebody's injured valuable power play unit if you really need him to guys warren fogel just got three mil what are you talking about i think it's because people look at him and go well they could package him in conf and maybe they could but the the the winner in that deal is not the guy who gets comp it's the guy who gets yarn crow like the odds of yeah conf great let's meet in that middle ground yeah and try to make that deal trading yarn croak
Starting point is 01:30:58 solves nothing it solves zero of the leafs problems um and to me that's taken a painkiller instead of going to the doctor going to the doctor is trading from the core but they've already decided to be pig-headed and not friggin do that so um i don't know shut up and eat your slop what a ticket prices go down eat your slop leaf nation eat your slop i i hope yarn croak stays they're not going to be able to replace him um at that price or cheaper with a player who's as good or better no no they need a third line center that's what they need that's what they need um is that the last question jesse uh it can be you guys want to come out and play golf the larry fairways asked what my handicap is what is your hand uh i'd shoot like a hundred
Starting point is 01:31:50 i'll shoot like in the high 90s so it'll be like 25 ish around there mine is 1967 25 i shoot like 150 so i'm not coming but i appreciate it well you guys so larry fairways asked me why handicap is around 25 but that leads me to the question you guys are gonna play golf with me on our youtube channel this summer i did it last year i'll do it yeah are you gonna can we play a full round this time yeah are you coming up to ajax again we can come out we play in ajax yeah let's go you guys got good golf courses out there you do actually you do you have to leave the city for a real good golf are you doing club course or public course public i'm not a member anywhere okay i love it i love a public i assume you are a member at every big club i own them actually
Starting point is 01:32:33 i own them so that my memberships are free uh so yeah adam can we we show the world your abilities on the golf course absolutely i just suck and i hate it uh and it's not because i don't i don't hate golf i actually really enjoy it but i get so frustrated that i can't enjoy it past like i don't think that's what called enjoying no i do i do like golf and i used to play it a lot more and what pisses me off is i'm just not as good as i used to be adam's that friend who plays video games to relax but then you watch him relaxing it's like come on get down get down get rekt get rekt get fucked fuck maddie you uh you're a dentonia expert oh yeah you uh you got a decent swing i love dentonia yeah i went to golf camp when i was in middle school no way yeah for a
Starting point is 01:33:21 couple years yeah it's scarborough golf club that's cool scarborough native love scarborough what's golf camp like golf camp honestly it is very helpful like i i found that i don't know it taught me fundamentals i still use today like it's one of those where it's like if you even just go for a few lessons like that's with you for life like those techniques and everything like i don't know it's my dad every time i golf with him he's always like do trying to do like his own thing and stuff and i'm always teaching him i'm like there's a certain way you do it and he's like no no my way especially when you do it at a young age like that's yeah yeah because then it becomes ingrained with you in its second nature like everything you learn and learning things as
Starting point is 01:34:06 an adult is so much harder it is you know when you don't have that prerequisite where oh like i did this when i was 10 yeah i can still do this yep yeah yeah adam did you do hockey camp or uh just your i should i should do hockey no when you were a kid oh yeah every year every year it was like two or three weeks of it if you could because like we did like the the school like the we were like it wasn't like some high-end hockey camp it was like you're at you're at malvern town center and you're and it's it's the guy named steve who's putting on i think his name was steve smith somebody's dad yeah yeah and you got this jersey you could read like a newspaper through and be like welcome to steve smith hockey camp for cool guys and and like literally they just bag skate
Starting point is 01:34:47 y'all morning uh and with a little bit of puck handling and stuff and then the afternoon you'd play like soccer and stuff you do dry land so i did that always at the end of the summer leading into the season starting uh to get sharpened back up again and i remember that first every time that first time you step on the ice after not skating for a few weeks and you just resharpen your skates and you just you feel like bambi out there like you just feel completely die yeah so yes i did do hockey camps that's fun and i used to take golf lessons as well it's as hard as it is to believe i went to heron park summer camp where we played soccer baseball oh the best steve is that two sports no soccer baseball rules man it's a great sport should be a pro league should be a pro i
Starting point is 01:35:27 assume some person's done that yeah i mean if they make uh they make uh what's what do they call it What's the Harry Potter game? Quidditch. Yeah, there's a bunch of people walking around with brooms between their knees, pretending they're flying. Have you guys seen the fake horse people? Yes. The people who just ride the brooms like they're riding a horse?
Starting point is 01:35:48 Like, do they jump over things? Yeah. Like equestrian? Yeah, they do full equestrian on fake horse brooms. I'm not going to hate because everybody's got their thing. Yeah. I'm not going to hate, but that is objectively probably hilarious to watch. you're right can i throw this out there too and this is where i get i'll bring my nerdy side out
Starting point is 01:36:07 there is a in kentucky there is a lightsaber group and they learn they learn lightsaber techniques and then you you like graduate levels and i was like i want to join that how do i be a part of that you can like also just learn a martial art yeah yeah no no no no it needs to be glowing the sword needs to be glowing otherwise i'm out okay i want to be a warrior monk with a glowing sword please thank you anyway we can wrap that's called hobby horsing hobby horsing i bet it is horsing around was right there there uh i guess they wanted people to take it seriously we're watching a video hobby or the adam you can wrap the show i don't have the button that was that a team finland hockey jersey wow was it yeah here look it's coming
