Sometimes life throws your curveballs and you don't have time to get to them and that's where
TaskRabbit comes in and I think you should check this out because here's the deal.
One of the things, one of the weird quirks about my condo building is that they use my floor
to repel down and clean all the windows but they never clean my windows.
And their way around on that is like, well, it's a patio window, you can do that yourself.
And I'm like, well, hang on a second.
What if I don't want to?
I don't have the stuff because you got to have that scraper thing and the washer thing.
The chemicals, you got to have the right chemicals.
see what i'm saying that's why i used task rabbit and i employed a tasker here's the thing task
rabbit connects you with taskers in your area for furniture assembly home repairs lawn maintenance
mounting window cleaning all that stuff here's the deal 3.4 million pieces of furniture have
been assembled 700 000 home repairs 1.5 million moves and counting go ahead and get ahead of your

to announce Shoeless Joe's Peterborough April
12th. Peterbro. Peterbro.
Peterbro. See you
there, Peterbro.
Canadian Sports Grill Shoeless Joe's is a
true classic Canadian sports
grill where the best of food, sports, and
fun because, see, we bring the fun.
You see? It's you and it's us.
And we all bring the fun together. The ultimate
spot to catch the game, especially for Leafs fans.
And that's what we'll be doing. We'll be catching the game together
if you want to stick around after our live
show. Not to be confused with Joe-less
shoes. That is the shoe
outlet in the plaza next door.
It's no Joe's
allowed. Wow.
If you're... Very good.
That is not great.
Not great. Maddie's not a
fan of that.
Not a fan of that at all. You Maddie, bro?
By the way... I just said, guys, not to be
confused with some parking lot, right?
Oh.
By the way, 1135
Lansdowne Street, West Peterborough.
That's where you're going to find us at
Shoeless Joe's next Saturday. Tickets
we're setting up the event, Bright, so
I'll either have it on my stream tonight for
the Washington Capitals
or Steve will have it Saturday or we'll have it Monday.
But either way, I'm just giving you the heads up about the show.
Listen, it's all coming together last minute.
So I can't really help
that it's not set up fully yet, but
I thought giving you the heads up that it will be
is also good because then you got the
heads up and then you're like, well, I'll wait for it.
I'll look for it. And also it gives me
a chance to promo the fact that I will be
on a stream tonight
following Alexander Ovechkin.
Whoa.
Yes.
Why?
Well, because he's three goals away
from beating Gretzky,
two from tying him
for the all-time goals record.
Now, tonight there will be a question
about whether or not
Jesse's working Sunday.
Is Jesse working Sunday or not?
Because if Obi gets a hat trick,
Jesse does not have to work Sunday.
I don't think he gets it all tonight.
No?
No.
It's the Blackhawks, though, Jesse.
The Badhawks.
He should try.
Like, I mean, the whole team should try.
They're at home, too.
Oh, 100%.
They got to try.
Dude, it's perfect.
It's perfect.
I want to know who the Blackhawks are starting.
Yeah, ending it on a hat trick would be perfect.
It would be sick.
You're right about that.
A little on the nose.
Like, he speeds up.
He speeds up the closer he gets to a milestone.
Always has.
This would have been done in, like, early March
had he not broken his leg.
Easily.
We forget.
He broke his leg this year.
Broke?
his leg zero hyperbole
this season.
And then came back.
I think he was out six weeks.
And he's fine.
Yeah, he's fine.
Drinking.
You know, doing bands
and just having the best of it.
Like absolutely nothing happened.
Because the guy wore a headband.
Yep.
Yeah, he's having the time of his life.
So that will be tonight.
Washington versus the Chicago Blackhawks.
Do you have anything special planned
for when it happens?
Oh, man, I don't know.
So, no.
Probably not.
Probably not.
I'll be like, no, you know what I'm going to do?
I'm going to be like, oh, there it is.
And then I'm just going to shut the stream off.
Yeah.
All right, guys.
Good night.
It was great to be here.
You should make him a graphic.
And if he gets to the end of the game and he doesn't have three goals, fraud.
Fraud.
Fraud graphic.
Is that what that's fraud?
Fraud.
Should we get a fraud?
Vetchkin graphic?
A hundred percent.
No, the people might need that.
And then if he passes Gretzky, then you just change the graphic to be Gretzky's face.
Fraud.
Yeah, Gretzky becomes a fraud after tonight.
Oh, that's how it works.
I'd like to see a hat trick.
And the third goal comes on the power play from the Ovechkin spot.
That's my dream.
And how this thing ends at home.
It's from the Ovechkin spot.
And tonight's at home.
And I think you sit him on Sunday if he doesn't get it tonight.
If he scores a couple tonight, you sit him on Sunday and then you bring him back for the Hurricanes game again at home.
Now, that has nothing to do with the fact that, Jesse, that you don't want to work Sunday.
You don't mind working Sunday.
No, no.
I'll stream the game without Ovechkin.
Why again?
Please repeat to everybody.
Why again do you think Alexander Ovechkin should be scratched on Sunday?
I don't know why it's hard to believe that this should be about the fans.
Like, I don't know why you guys can't come over to the right side of history where this thing should be about the fans of the Washington Capitals.
They've been cheering this man on for 47 years of however long his NHL career has been around a long time.
He's 39 now.
He just keeps going.
and for them to not have this happen in front of them at home in washington will be a travesty
on the history of hockey i hope ted leone's gets this in his building in front of the washington
capital you hope yeah do it for ted do it for teddy do it for the owner i always say adam do
you like to scroll instagram i i'm finding i like it less and less but sure i don't like it less
sorry it's it's it's like hey do you want to see the stuff from the people you follow or do you
want to see somebody use this weird tool to do this weird thing you've never thought of that
is supposed to be sad i'm getting more of that and i'm like i don't like this why am i watching
this sorry do you find yourself on instagram often on stories more than the actual feed yes
got it so i've been noticing that my notifications have been getting blasted every day for two weeks
or so uh and there's a video that we did uh alex ovechkin the most prolific goal scorer in nhl
history or is adam a bum oh what that video that we have about ovechkin and our stupid takes
regarding in fact i think it's actually adam's stupid takes and jesse's stupid takes that is
306 comments oh that's great oh it's because adam said that he's not the most prolific goal scorer
of all time that was that was a bad day yo you know what's hilarious you both have horrible
ovechkin take you know what's hilarious mine's a little i think mine's also stupid mine is for
the fans yours is for stupid discredit the goal minus for the needling of the fans i said it
specifically because i knew it would piss caps no we're literally on the opposite ends of takes i
know mine is for the fans yours is against and i own that and adam went rage baiting and didn't
bring a boat big enough oh to bring all the fish back i mean here's the problem with it the great
thing about that take is that it's objectively true uh you might not he is he will not be the
overall goal leader and
playoff goals are harder
to come by what are what
are the numbers so okay
well I gotta pull this
out why are we doing
yeah but I'm at you
should know these numbers
Adam and this is I've
made it was like three
weeks ago man the hill
you're dying dude I
remember what I ate for
breakfast I regret okay
all right all right
there's no passion he
has 122 goals in the
playoffs I made such a
mistake Ovi I'm just
pulling up his I've never
made a larger mistake
hey this cannot be more
boring than some of the
stories you tell my
friend what is wrong
What is wrong with talking about Ovechkin breaking the goal record?
Is there something wrong with that?
Ovi's got 72 goals in the playoffs.
Penguins fan Steve?
Yeah, exactly.
Do you want us to talk about Crosby?
Huh?
I am always down to talk about Sidney Crosby.
Oh, yeah.
Hey, Caps fans.
This guy over here is rooting for the Penguins.
Whoa.
Yay.
So Ovi's got 72 goals in the playoffs.
Gretzky has 50 more.
Bum.
Wow.
50 more.
Now, Gretzky played 208 games in the playoffs.
Ovi's only played 151.
and so if you take the goals from the playoffs and you take them and you add them to the regular
season goals gretzky is still what's the number the number i i don't know man 894 plus 122
i don't know guys i didn't have any of this prepared why are you why are you saying adam
why are you saying adam say you say jesse you guys put me in this but 122 plus 8.94 equals
1016 so and then ovi let's say he's at 894 or he's at 900 you know he'll get to 900 900 yeah
okay plus 72 equals 972 yeah so i think yeah i think he gets the season so then you got uh 1016
minus 1016 minus there you go 972 and that equals 44 goals so next season
alexander ovechkin should probably pass wayne gretzky i mean listen if the caps go on a deep run
there i forgot that's the thing we're talking about is the playoff play i need to smash this
record because here's the thing isn't a thing because because it is a thing no and that's why
people are so mad about it if it wasn't a thing it's a little bit of a thing it's a little fly
in the ointment now is he going to pass him i believe he absolutely old man thing but it is
it is for sure something that gets under calf's fan skin because they know it's a little true
if you say it's a little true let's say he gets 10 in the playoffs he's at like 905 maybe 910
ish area shout out pickering he should only have what he'd have he's gonna have like 35 goals to
go like a 40 goal season yeah get him over the the number next season and that would be and you
know what the the nhl should celebrate that just as much because that is an incredible accomplishment
and gretzky should be there for that one too like they really should i'm not even kidding
that should be something when that happens i'm not saying we don't celebrate the 895 we
absolutely celebrate but we are going to need to celebrate both here both are big here's why
895 is more important you didn't know the other number yep yeah because it's easier not to but
if you took if you if you actually dive deep and look at the playoff numbers playoff goals are
harder to come by we know that right we all know that right uh as a leaf fan i find that to be
objectively false did you know i let adam sit there and do all that math when you could just
go to the nhl record page and look no i knew he didn't know you could do this but in the nhl
record book you can just look up most goals including play so he still doesn't have the
then that's okay the number the number is officially right now 10 16 to 9 64 gretzky
over ovechka marcel dion being 10th overall and not having a cup is insane yep insane that's
because they had a let's be honest here uh they had the worst owner in sports for half of marcel
dion's time in la the other half they had a good owner but they just it was like hey we got a good
first line let's not do anything after that he was cheap and he sucked he sucked and he was a
canadian guy so we're looking at for everybody listening we're looking at the skater records
then nhl.com the record book and all the goals and all that stuff and one of the most important
columns to me and i know steve you care about this too is the second one next to the player
names which is teams ovechkin has only played for the washington capitals that's such a cool thing
and you go down the list and mario's only played for pittsburgh and he's at number eight and then
of eiserman uh with detroit and steve yo you've kept track for like a decade now of the guys who
only play for one team and the goals record in that respect and it means a lot that one place
that record i don't think i'll ever be broken no like that that is going to be really hard to beat
like he's going to score a thousand goals in one uniform that's just psycho it means something yes
It absolutely means something.
I like this page having the total of both because Gretzky, oh my God.
For the longest time, I've thought he was the only guy to hit 2,000 points.
Gordie Howe is actually at 2,010 if you include the playoffs.
But if you include the playoffs, Gretzky's at 3,239.
Which is a goofy number.
Cartoonishly unbeatable.
Yeah.
That will never be beaten.
And I know we said that about the goals record.
No one is even in the same universe as Gretzky.
You haven't seen my be a pro player from 2018.
Yeah.
He's got like 5,000 points in a season.
Oh, yeah.
Or in a career.
Yeah.
No.
No.
Don't think it's going to happen.
Can you arrange it by points?
Yeah.
Here.
Record type.
We can do points.
We can do most of your points.
Oh, points is crazy.
Including playoffs.
There you go.
Including playoffs.
Gretzky had over 3,000.
Okay.
So there's actually.
And that's how you navigate this page, Adam.
There's four players who have eclipsed 2000.
Messier, Jager, and how are the others?
To be fair to me, Jesse, on that,
until recently, the NHL website was terrible.
And so I instantly default to do not check the NHL website.
But by the way, Gretzky is 1,100 points up on Messier for second.
That's so crazy.
He has a Hall of Fame careers differential between him and number two.
That's insane.
Gretzky could be in the top 30 like twice
It reminds me of the Tom Brady records
Where if you take Tom Brady's first half
Of his career and the second half
He has two separate Hall of Fame careers
He'd be like two of the best players
And you put the numbers side by side
The best graphic I ever saw was the numbers side by side
And they kept the quarterbacks blank
And they were like who had the best career
And they were both Tom Brady
It was just the first half of his life and the second half
What a great graphic
Sidney Crosby by the way
I know this is an Ovechkin thing, but since you had that up, Crosby's got a real good chance of becoming player number five to hit two.
No, I'm surprised Dangle has the Crosby propaganda.
I love him!
And his thick thighs.
I would love to see a graphic of the gap between Gretzky and the next guy and what that career looks like in terms of all the categories.
You know, it's like a thousand points, blah, blah, blah.
That'd be cool.
That's a Hall of Fame career.
uh if you uh if you read a little book called hockey rants and raves i compared wayne gretzky
to other players that are widely agreed upon to be on hockey's mount rushmore and one of the stat
categories was like distance from gretzky that's interesting they're all so that's why we are
when you see people say um uh oh like you know like no disrespect oh here comes the
but when you see people say but actually gretzky wasn't the best i'm like just okay can it like
are you serious yeah be a serious person and and part of part of and and mario had significant
health issues and i think that's really important he he was in the middle of the greatest season
of all time in was it 90 they won in 91 and 92 and then it was like 90 so it would have been 92
93 the year the Habs won that was the what should have been the greatest season any players ever had
in NHL history but he missed I think 20 games because of a back injury and also he had I
believe leukemia yes which is the Mario Lemieux left hockey and came back twice as the best player
and returned the best player more than once yeah he's incredible he's incredible yeah Matty if you
want to pull that back up look at the games played the yeah the number for mario is 9 15
and everybody else is in the 1300 yeah gretzky played 600 games more yeah so okay let me let
me use seventh all time with 915 games how far down do you have to scroll jesse to get to the
next player under a thousand games oh wow peter stassny 977 46 underrated peter stassny did you
miss anyone no it's just peter sassi yeah it's just peter sassi this is remember this is regular
season and playoffs right unbelievable no this is regular season games played my bad so that's
just regular yeah and then this is total games played in regular season and playoffs down in
this yeah let me you should be well over uh yeah whoa barely oh gee 122 games wow over a thousand
if you combine we were so much time yeah my my overall point is listen when people say oh gretzky
wasn't the best gretzky was the best he was the best player there ever was sorry but to say that
both he and lemieux don't belong or like oh mario should be on the mount rushmore but wayne shouldn't
or something like that i'm like go away listen there's there's just your farming clicks okay
there are legitimate arguments to have mario or bobby or above gretzky but to me the conversation
starts with gretzky and that's why it's gretzky yeah that's sort of what i argued like you need
to you need to prove you need to prove one is better than the other you need to prove or is
better than gretzky you need to prove lemieux is better than gretzky yeah but it starts with
gretzky he's the default well and and and then you know you get into like gordie howe coming back to
the nhl in his you know in the fifth fifth consecutive decade that he'd played in it it's
an impressive and he's like a point of game or half a point of game player or something it's an
absurd achievement yeah it's an absurd achievement but that doesn't make him the best oh no i wasn't
saying it made it in the past i just think it's pretty good yeah that was that was one of the
most fun things to write about was uh because what what i what i did if i remember correct
is i went back to how's career and or's career and i want to say lemieux's career and i was like
here's the leading here's the second leading scorer in the nhl behind these guys during their
career and they were all so cartoonishly above they're crazy crazy above everybody and that's
that's the thing with gretzky oh back then the goalies but okay well why didn't anyone else
right that's the thing anywhere close yeah no yeah it's it's it's uh yeah closest to second
you know what i mean yeah sometimes life throws your curveballs and you don't have time to get
to them and that's where task rabbit comes in and i think you should check this out because here's
the deal one of the things one of the weird quirks about my condo building is that they use
my floor to
rappel down and clean all the windows,
but they never clean my windows. Uh-oh.
And their way around on that is like, well, it's a patio

hang on a second. What if I don't want to? I don't have
the stuff! Because you've got to have that scraper
thing and the washer thing.
The chemicals. You've got to have the right chemicals.
See, that's what I'm saying. That's why I
used TaskRabbit, and I
employed a tasker. Here's the thing.
TaskRabbit connects you with taskers in your area

scotiabank you're richer than you think
uh now let's talk about um the the caps uh game on wednesday uh alexander ovechkin scored but
that's not really what the story's been it's been this it was the hurricanes it was the capitals it
was 140 plus penalty minutes unbelievable uh and you wanted to talk specifically you even put it
in the group chat this is how serious you were you want to talk about that jail and chatfield fight
and I wanted to now if you didn't get sort of the background here there was a fight and and there
was a slew foot and there has been no discipline on on that fight or that slew foot uh well for it
to be a proper slew foot you need to prove it was intentional and proving intent is difficult yes uh
I mean yeah sure looked intentional to me it's an MMA style takedown um against uh Ajax Pickering
Raiders alumni Connor McMichael boy you're just seeing everyone get it wrong for different reasons
with this one there's Mark Spector saying this ain't tennis which thank you for your
very nuanced opinion as always Mark and then there's Chatfield should be suspended for the
rest of the season listen to be fair that's like eight games yeah i guess yeah i guess that is
fair i guess that is noteworthy it's noteworthy if it was october yeah whoa whoa that's nuts
we're not asking for a lot of time here okay there raffy torres like yeah that's a little insane
listen uh i i know this ain't tennis um it's hockey and that's crazy
fighting is part of hockey is what you always get told what are the penalties for
what discipline guys why because they did something bad what something illegal and that's
in the rule book that's illegal what's illegal so whatever they did bad yeah that's you asked
me what in this in this specific case what they do you know you asked me what why are they in the
box because they're they're fighting fighting but it's part of the game are they in the box for
because it's a penalty to fight oh i i don't get that i don't get that at all like listen
as long as long as fighting is in hockey i like i like a fight yeah of course i like a fight
with purpose i uh i mean that was a fight with purpose yeah no there was there was a time when
it was like there were staged fights it's like both teams start the game and they're like we're
throwing the fourth lines out yeah to get them going yeah yeah but like but there is a good
fight mid-game trade it can a game can hinge on a fight as long as you have like okay instead of
taking connor mcmichael down the way he did what should have jalen chatfield done instead
the answer i keep coming to is instead of taking conor mcmichael down and slamming his head into
the ice what he should have done was instead continue standing and repeatedly punch him in
the face yeah no that would have been legal oh not legal that would have been something that's
very common in the game it's really listen i love a fight i also can't justify my love of a fight
it's really really really really really fucking stupid now every time there's a fight i'm gonna
stand up every time there's a fight i'm gonna go nuts and i'm gonna cheer on my guy but
this shit happens and there's i mean there are a bunch of people out there getting made fun of
for saying uh you know someone's gonna die one day uh with this sort of thing and then you get
people saying this ain't tennis but then you get people saying i like fights but also this should
be suspended no you can't have it both ways right i was sorry i was looking for a couple of different
angles because i wanted this one specifically because the ones that i think on the tnt broadcast
were a little too zoomed in but on this one that we have on the screen right now you could really
see his leg
come out underneath
and really trip him
with his leg and throw him down to the ground.
It's a brutal play. It's very
dangerous.
Well, and whatever happened to
helmets come
off, then you break up the fight. Dude, if his head
hit the ice here, we'd have a different conversation. He did!
His head hit the ice! No, but like hit it and like he didn't
get up or he was bleeding or something like that.
If there's blood, we're having a completely different conversation.
We're talking five and ten games.
like like raffy torres level shit that's why there is outrage because that possibility is right there
and it's you're millimeters away from that happening i i people recognize that so and
this is another problem that adam is is bringing up chatfield got nothing which means in the nhl's
eyes sorry he got five minutes jess or steve oh my god you know george peros the head of the
department of player safety we watched him get ktfo'd in a fight knocked the fuck out by colton
orr and if i'm not mistaken it wasn't from a punch i'm i did the fight was a long time ago it was
like 2013 2012 i don't know um and his head hit the ice with disgusting force and he was knocked
the fuck out like he wasn't a little woozy he was snoring asleep so i imagine he has an opinion on
this the nhl has decided jalen chaffield did nothing wrong and conor mcmichael bleeding from
the head having a fractured skull and going into a seizure wouldn't change that no it would it would
have changed it would have because they they that's how the nhl does we know how they do that
though steve but that's that's a psychotic way of running your business exactly and i agree and i
will i'm i'm gonna suggest yeah oh good i'm you're right you nailed it they far too often penalize
the outcome rather than the action that is exactly what they've done throughout the history of
and and i would love to make uh our own version of of those very popular hats in certain circles
make player safety competent again um can we can we get that we get those made can we get those
made maybe bright red because he's a hurricane and he's a cat red what's wrong with that
what's the problem make player safety confident again okay oh okay fine you know what what about
violet gentleman and uh and and well as long as we're talking about like hypocrisies here
um they break up a goalie fight before it even happens yeah and then there's this two guys
without helmets being put in this position the max domey fight that they broke up oh that one too
yeah pick a pick a lane guys yeah these refs like it doesn't make any sense if they broke up every
fight i'd be like well yeah that's what they do or just let them go across the board but just know
that if you let them go this shit happens there's listen hockey fans a lot of us a lot of sports
fans in general are hypocritical and i'm one of them like i i'm willing to admit it i need people
to be honest with themselves and join me in admitting our hypocrisy here if you like a
hockey fight you need to accept that guys are going to get ktfo'd and you know would it have
been better or more noble if uh chatfield had simply connected with mcmichael's temple and he
goes out that way yes yeah so that's better yes of course it is of course it is because here's
the thing steve we're all no no listen listen listen listen no we haven't because when two
willing combatants enter into a fight yeah there is by the nhl rule book even yeah a set of rules
that we expect it's rock'em sock'em robots right in rock'em sock'em robots my uh my niece and
nephew got rock'em sock'em robots for christmas so i've been playing it a lot lately it's a lot
of fun cool they what do they do they go punch punch punch punch punch and one of the heads pops
right okay what they don't do is stick out their leg and slew foot all right and so this is where
hold on hear me out okay i'm i'm reinforcing your point okay and my and my point is where the nhl
needs to step in is when that agreed to contract it's like an nhl social contract the code or
whatever code well but it is written too it is written down uh so it is a real code yeah uh when
that is breached with something like this then we have an issue because this is not the yes it's
bare-knuckle brawls for sure but it is not ufc it's not you know we're not literally tripping
something that is outside of what has been established as a precedent for a hundred years
and that's that's the truth precedent does matter well for a hundred years is stretching it because
please go back and watch black and white footage of the nhl it's just crimes literally cops running
onto the ice to break up crime yeah but what do we are what do you have for the trees too
yeah what do you argue with me that means their fights were their fights were though none of them
were like tripping each other fights used to be fuck what adam that is fiction that's a fucking
they were tripping each other they were pulling each other's hair they were gouging eyes they
were hitting each other each other over the head none of the arm and leg with wooden sticks none
of that what are you talking none of that and they were tripping too they were adam that wasn't
from john he's lost my point we sat across can you let me we sat across from john forsland
two weeks ago and he talked about a professional hockey fight featuring four nhl coaches later on
that featured a headbutt okay that's not a trip that's not a trip steve oh for fuck's sake
so if jalen chatfield headbutt connor mcmichael that well it doesn't make it better but i'm
trying to tell you that that a trip is a lot better than something you see coming towards
oh we've all lost our goddamn minds adam that player got ktfo'd in that story he got knocked
the fuck out because he got headbutt in the face man and that's not rock'em sock'em robots
well i i steve i gotta i gotta say i do think there is a differentiation between
being having somebody come at you with something that you can see yes and having somebody swipe
around and and knock your balance i'm not advocating for tripping in fights i know i'm
not saying that you are what i would like to know is that who is filling in for jalen chatfield next
game what do you mean well he surely he's been suspended he broke the rules well he has not and
i and i agree with you on that okay that's so i'm what i'm saying you're not hearing me jesse i think
you heard me right no i'm struggling to understand what you guys are like what the main argument well
i am too because all i'm saying is listen there is bad there's a pre-agreed thing when we get
into a fight it's going to be these things and went for me a slew foot from behind or a trip or
however you want to call it slew foot might be too much for people in the comments oh it wasn't a
slew foot okay then he fucking tripped him man i don't know whatever you want to call it well
you're gonna get the slew foot brigade and you're gonna get that you've never played on skates
brigade because i have and i've been in fights i was in hockey fight i was suspended for it keep
going off into these little side yes because i'm trying to say this i think the reason you do need
to have discipline here is it steps outside the norm of what fighting has been maybe not
a hundred years okay let's just go to the last 30 at the nhl level let's go the last 20 the nhl
level right where have we seen this now people will go what about swinging guys around like the
chara swinging brian mccabe around again it comes from the top and mccabe can see chara the whole
time mccabe up off the ice different no it's not if chara if that goes how is that not different
if it goes slightly differently mccabe he loses his grip or whatever mccabe slams his head into
the board it is not from behind where he can't see him that's the point if you can't see it coming
that's where i take issue here's here's an idea you don't want to get hurt don't fight
what okay then you know what then what's what's my goal to your point again you're arguing with
me and i'm really supporting you here i don't think you are so you think you think that just
like if i were to grab okay if i'm gonna grab you like this yeah right i'm grabbing you like
most hockey fights you grab somebody like that and i were able to pick you up yes okay yeah you
think that's the same as me sticking my leg behind your leg and pushing you over when you're not
expecting you control you are in full control of where i go in both situations right if i am off
the ice or you have your leg behind my leg i'm going down so by that i don't have a choice in
so by that logic then maybe jalen chatfield shouldn't be disciplined what i am saying is
having fights you can punish jalen chatfield for what he did in this fight but to me it's
completely nonsensical because having fights is nonsensical i agreed upon it's better to punch
a guy in the face shit um is it's psycho babble so you don't hyper macho psycho you don't think
he should be suspended no but i also think what he did was dirty chicken shit but and you you
agree with the nhl that there shouldn't be any more discipline i agree with the nhl that there
shouldn't be more discipline under the guise of having fights in the first place is psycho psychotic
okay i think that makes sense yeah you don't think he should be disciplined because of what
precedent has been set by the nhl yeah like they're and it's funny like again garnett hathaway
spit on a guy and that was three games this is nothing um brendan lemieux bit a guy he got i
think two games in no situation was brady kachuk at risk of cracking his skull open um or was eric
good branson at risk of catching leprosy from garnet hathaway and getting knocked out into a
seizure but this is fine and to me i think this is way worse than both but it's a fight and there
has to be a level of shit happens if you're going to allow this i am saying i there's a caveman part
of me that loves them there but i cannot justify and no one can justify fighting on skates on ice
and having it be allowed but since it's allowed shit since it's allowed and this is within the
the realm of the fighting you don't there shouldn't be any more discipline we now know
based on the nhl's precedent slew footing's fine or it's at very least it unless you can prove it
was a hundred percent intentional i think that was intentional i can't prove it yeah if you can
prove it was a hundred percent intentional then you find him whatever or suspend him for whatever
you would suspend any other slew foot biting is out of the rules um pulling hairs out of the rules
but i'm trying to remember the last time that happened i know what's happened spitting is
against the rules unless you're brad marshand brad i mean he's well licking is fine i you gotta
You got to wonder if Brad Marchand's going to be a hundred percent for the
playoffs because that wrist has got to be exhausted from signing sticks for
refs.
Like it's just got to be absolutely exhausted.
What I am saying is
our hypocrisy is going to get someone killed.
It will get someone killed or end a career.
You know,
you can't and a lot of people are going to call me an idiot for this i don't care i've thought
about this i would like you to as well i don't think you have i would like you to accept that
punch in the face contests are extraordinarily dangerous and when a guy falls down what would
have been better like maybe chatfield should have knocked him the fuck out standing and let the back
of his head hit the ice as he goes down what are we doing here guys like this is insane the part
insane the part i'll disagree with you on is i think if chatfield injured mcmichael the nhl
would have suspended him oh no i agree with you okay i agree with you and they will be hypocrites
yeah yeah i think they're giant hypocrites at everything they do crying crying and beating
their chest when something bad happens to a player for something that you have allowed a million
times what are we talking about what and this is the only bad takedown we've ever seen it's not
even the worst takedown or wall it is but it's not even the only bad takedown we've seen this
month we see guys punch guys when they're down like did we all forget tom wilson and the new
york rangers from a couple years ago that made uh james dolan lose his mind and uh wasn't it
artemi panarin he he that's what he lost his mind for that day yeah i know he bounced his head off
the ice like a basketball and nothing happened and the rangers got fined for saying hey that's
kind of fucked yeah and responded by i believe there were nine fights the next game so what
have you been looking up adam i've been looking up the rule book i've got it right here and it's
interesting because you go through fighting okay so it's rule 40 if anybody wants to check it out
or it used to be rule 40 it is now rule 46 uh and it goes into the different types of fighting okay
so obviously uh they have carve outs for you know what a fight is so i'll just i'll just read this
part a fight shall be deemed to have occurred when at least one player punches or attempts to
punch an opponent repeatedly uh or when two players wrestle in such a manner that it makes
it difficult for lines persons to intervene and separate the combatants and then it goes into the
aggressor all the altercation itself um so the altercation is a situation involving two players
with at least one to be penalized clearing the fight area uh you know what what are the carve
outs for continuing or attempting to a fight after you know the refs split you up uh your
helmets do have to remain on so that's interesting okay so um drop the ball there uh fighting after
the original altercation obviously fighting on playing surface uh fighting other than in the
periods of the games fighting prior to the drop of the puck instigator all that stuff nothing about
slew footing until a little later on in the rule book when you go down to jesse i think you can go
down to 52 and it's interesting slew footing is the act of a player bless you for looking this up
using his leg or foot to knock or kick an opponent's feet from under him or pushes an
opponent's upper body backwards with an arm or an elbow at the same time using a forward motion of
his leg knocks or kicks to the opponent's feet from under him causing him to fall violently to
the ice now it was not a forward motion in this case but it was what 52.1 sort of sets it out to
be uh 52.2 says it's a match penalty for any player guilty of slew footing uh should be assessed a
match penalty fines there are no specific fines or suspensions for slew footing however supplementary
discipline can be applied by the commissioner at his discretion so and if i play your safety
add a note there that is usually how the nhl outlines discipline in the rule book because
they want to be able to suspend people at their discretion depending on each incident so usually
discipline finds suspensions are left vague so then gary can suspend people however he wants
however he feels that day so this is a gary call this isn't even player safety always good to
explicitly write in the rule book that there are no rules yes so they usually do so i find that
interesting because i would have thought that there would have been something like sleuth
footings legitimately dangerous uh especially with knife shoes yeah and uh at the same time
with a forward motion is interesting of his leg so when they talk about 52.1 slew footing um
opponent's upper body backwards with an arm or an elbow at the same time with a forward motion
of the leg knocks or kicks the opponent's feet out from under him and frankly that's not what
happened here right it was a backwards motion of the leg with a push i i think if i was a carolina
a hurricanes fan here and i was trying to stick up for jalen chatfield i'd say what are you trying
to punish him for being strong like no like he he did yeah him and like that situation could have
just as easily ended with mcmichael yep flipping chatfield chatfield one you know what i mean um
yep the fact that what chatfield did is by their definition that you looked up
uh not illegal not illegal i think solidifies yeah fighting in hockey's nuts it's nuts
and we as a fan base have decided we're all right with that well i also think if if you're if both
helmets are off in this case then the refs there's four of them on the ice uh get in there
well you gotta you can't you can't do that well what did they say after the game why didn't they
stop it i don't know what did they say no the refs fucking nothing because they never do oh okay
that's right so absolutely can i can i just offer my opinion that i think chatfield should have been
suspended and if the nhl wanted to suspend them they definitely could have they could have found
some rule where it's like reckless act on the ice or any any whatever made up rule they wanted to
attach to chatfield they could have suspended him and i think they should have done it because that
was a dangerous play and I think they should have established a precedent where you shouldn't do
this in fights and especially when helmets are off and the referees should have stopped stuff
that there should have been an onus on the players then because the referees aren't jumping in when
you both have your helmets off to not do a dangerous act like this on the ice and I think
the NHL should have said something and suspended him at least for two games two games would have
just been like good yeah we know you shouldn't do this you will be punished for it now other
players won't do that and i think the nhl should have done that i agree with that i think i think
that there's as i said before and i guess i have to amend my statement you know i do think there
are the rules and then there's the pre-agreed set of set of norms uh when you get into things like
this and this goes for hockey and society and i do think that steps outside the norms even though
it's not written in the rules and i do think you i i listen fighting in hockey is fighting in hockey
are you asking me to justify it i'm not going to sit here and try to justify it to you i love a
good fight i do think slew footing during a fight on purpose uh like somebody tripping over somebody
else that is going to happen but slew footing on purpose should be it's a pretty easy rule right
that was you can't you can't take them down that way that was a spectacular anderson silva
takedown you can't do that on the ice when two guys aren't wearing helmets yeah it's dangerous
i think it'd be worth their time to this summer um amend the rule so easy to do too here's one
line uh don't slew foot but i also think that there's enough vagueness in the nhl rule book
right now and the way the nhl player safety department works that they could have found a
way to suspend them currently yes regardless of if it's written down they could have found a way
and i think they should have and it's it's wrong that they didn't and chatfield shouldn't play the
next game i'd like to direct your attention to rule 47.1 headbutting uh weirdly enough after
steve brought up the story that john forsland and at the ahl level and there was four nhl coaches i
Claude Julien and Mark Crawford.
Not Craig Berube.
Bruce Boudreau.
Bruce Boudreau was in it as well.
Headbutting, illegal.
And they make it clear.
Hey, the act of headbutting involves a player making intentional contact
or attempting to make contact with an opponent by leading with his head or helmet.
You'll be shocked.
You get a double minor for that.
A double minor?
You get a major penalty shall be imposed on a player who injures an opponent.
so they are they do penalize the outcome so if you attempt it it's a double minor if the player
gets hurt it's a major a match penalty shall be imposed on a player who injures an opponent as
a result of the headbutt so you get a match or so you get a major and a match and then game
misconduct probably thrown in there too and then you can get suspensions but there is nothing
specified because of course the commissioner wants the chance to go here's what i think that's where
the that's how the rule book's written this is what i'm trying to emphasize i am the whole thing
is vague so they can do whatever they want whenever they feel like uh i googled it because
i was like when was the last time anyone was suspended for a headbutt uh i got may 11th 2022
oilers darn elner suspended one game for headbutt on kings deno oh that was in the playoffs i don't
remember that i uh it's difficult because the oilers always play the kings so they all blend
together um and both those players are still there but uh i do remember that and um chris
weidman was suspended the same season for headbutting eric holla ufc fighter chris weidman
yes i thought i guess it's legal and uh illegal in ufc too it's uh it is one of like two or three
things that are illegal and kicking someone in the balls yeah you're not allowed to do that no
not a headbutt they just uh said it's now legal to strike an opponent when they're uh 12 12 to
six punch that thank you i thought someone was looking for that what does that look what's it
12 to 6. 12 to 6
elbow is when you just come
straight down. That's legal? Yeah.
It's legal now. It used to be illegal for the
history of UFC like modern
day and then now it's legal.
Some people, man. I would not
want to be on the wrong side of that. You can't poke somebody in the eye.
You can't intentionally punch someone
in the back of the head. I don't think.
Well, in boxing, you definitely
can't. Yeah.
I don't know if that's illegal. I know it
was illegal for a long time. I don't know if they
changed i haven't watched it and then there's stuff that people that is illegal but guys get
away with all the time uh eye gouging is a significant part of john jones's career that
and drunk driving um but uh i can't i can't believe people still hold him with reverence
uh back of the head punches are still illegal okay there you go yeah so there's like five things
that's yeah they got to like five but they enter the ring knowing that i don't think that that
fight was entered in the nhl knowing that a slew foot would be a part of it i think this is it's
an important moment um here like i don't think the next time this happens you can get away with it
i you know you shouldn't have done this you shouldn't i agree i agree well we all went oh
he's getting suspended yeah and then the nhl is well like he technically didn't violate any rules
so i think next time you got to like as plain as you possibly can be like you know what's great is
at the beginning of the season they'll like do they'll when there's a new rule they'll show you
video examples let's just call it the jalen jadfield rule if you if you need to you can't
do this anymore i also think the nhl doesn't have a problem on their hands because i think most
nhl players and hockey players in general looked at this and said that's a dirty play chat feels
dirty for doing that and thank god mcmichael's okay yeah and most hockey players aren't going
to go out there and do something like that yeah because you don't see it very much you don't see
it i think most hockey players recognize like damn that's dirty as shit uh we're not going to do this
if they play they don't have a problem if they do play again i mean a playoff series between those
two in the second round wilson's gonna seems pretty likely tom wilson's gonna kill somebody
yeah do they play carolina again before the end of the season i don't i don't yeah they do on
thursday oh right yeah because that's the that's the ov home game where i think he's gonna break
the record yeah and you're streaming am i streaming that are you streaming i don't remember that's
next thursday yeah yeah see that's i don't know i don't need to know that until thursday morning
i don't really need to know he's right important question yeah is kissing illegal if you just kiss
somebody in a fight like there's no rules the closest we've gotten is brad marchand licking
leo kamrov and it's not and no no do you remember what happened though they they talked to him
they had a stern he licked leo kamrov and then he licked ryan callahan later that same playoff run
and the reason he licked ryan callahan is the bruins were asked to speak to brad
what a fucking joke if what carnival and mcmichael were in this fight and chatfield
just starts trying to kiss mcmichael is that illegal yo what if they kissed on the couch
you know what i'm saying maddie said that beyond the jean couch what if we kissed that center
um thursday april 10th we are streaming it doesn't say who oh that's fine
one of us will i don't know i think that should be the next level of defense in fights
guys just try to kiss each other yeah come here daddy yeah kiss it so uh hey the leafs beat the
panthers speaking of brad martian uh wasn't pretty but the leafs are in first and they are in first
by three points which is nice they won uh they won doesn't one doesn't matter and you know the
thing is we like we ran into jamal myers a few times in san jose randomly on the street that's
happened to be staying in the same hotel he does some sharks games and he said you know this time
of year you can't turn it on all the time for every game because you do you need to win but
you also need to you also need to like save yourself a little and every player that was
great insight yo he was great like that listen i want my team to win every game but like
every team's gonna look like shit a few a few nights like totally they don't have it or they
went out and well they shouldn't have gone out well maybe they really needed to go out
you know for this game though steve the least look like shit in what is traditionally their
best period the second period like there's yeah second period the the panthers looked
really strong panthers did you hear the stat on the broadcast that it blew my mind since i want
to say it's like january 10th sergeant bobrovsky's allowed like four second period goals he's got
like a 971 save percentage in the second period it's completely absurd so the Leafs are usually
very good in the second uh they did score a goal the Panthers are better oh yeah the fact that so
wait the Leafs scored in the second so did the Panthers Panthers both and Leafs scored in the
second oh okay well the fact that the Leafs got a goal at all is special they got the 971 no one
scores on the Panthers they got the 0.29 yeah right like unbelievable and so okay so the Leafs
currently leafs lightning and panthers all have played 75 games 96 93 and 92 the panthers because
they didn't win against montreal they did get a point uh and then they didn't beat the leafs the
lightning have now passed them so they've gone and and this is how crazy this has been in a week
they've gone from first to uh outside of home ice uh-huh and that is kind of the way the top of the
the or at least the atlantic division is going and if you look at the atlantic division it's
kind of hilarious because every other division has a first place team uh with well except for
vegas at 98 um everybody's got about 100 points or more and the atlantic one i think is it's the
most even in the entire sport you look at the last 10 games toronto 7-2-1 tampa 7-3-0 florida
4-5-1 and i think a lot of that has to do with injuries no barkov no ekblad no kachuk um i still
think the panthers depth really showed like they're a holy shit problem oh i i looked at that
game and i'm like yeah you gotta win this you gotta win this and then i'm looking at their
lineup like the lines that they're able to throw out there and i'm like oh no okay they're still
pretty good yeah like lundell luster enan is i feel like they're a package deal they're like the
they're the sadeen twins to me they're like the defensive uh sadeen twins uh they're so good
so underrated um they're out there for haggies out there reinhardt reinhardt had a great game
bennett's out there marshand was still out there um their depth is always a pain in the ass
aj greer's a pest yeah aj greer well and there's another former bruin nico make a love drives me
crazy i was so happy he got burned on a goal and mostly because i respect him sam oscavich
Yeah, man.
Because the rookie class this year is so ridiculous,
he's not getting talked about at all.
I mean, there are years where his performance this season
would be on the outskirts of the Calder conversation.
And it's not.
Like, it's not even close because Mitch Codd, Celebrini, Hudson, Wolfe.
They're really, really good.
They are.
The reigning cup champs are good.
They are.
Shocking.
The playoff decor that they're going to run out there once the playoffs start, where it's Forsling, Jones, Mikula, Schmidt, and then some combination of Ekblad and Kulikov.
All those six guys in whatever combination you want to put them out there, that's deadly.
That sucks.
I don't know how you're scoring on those guys.
Valid that Ekblad is going to miss the first two games no matter what.
Yes.
And Kachuk will be out there.
what percentage of him we get i don't know but he will play and he could maybe the biggest wild
card he could be healthy but you keep him out because they're utilizing the cap space right now
right so i'm curious about what seth jones looks like in the playoffs because i don't think he's
ever played uh he did he had a lot of games played with columbus oh yeah remember because
columbus was good he owns the record for most time on ice in a single playoff game yeah the
columbus was good in that is that the lightning game late 2010s era right he played over 65
minutes Jesus in a five
period no sorry eight
period game so it'll be
interesting to see what
happens there obviously
you know it's a three
horse race it ain't over
there are seven games left
for all of these teams so
but I think at this point
and I think this goes for
lightning fans and Panthers
fans and Caps fans and
hurricanes and anybody who's
at the top of their
division in those top three
slots you should expect now
I think at this point for
your team to not be necessarily a statistical analytical darling from minute one to minute 60
it's just not the reality of the last seven games no um i do want to point something out
uh it's april 4th the final game of the regular season is april 17th not a single team out of 16
in the eastern conference is mathematically eliminated that's crazy to me i mean i don't
I don't think the Bruins are making it,
but for none of them on April 4th
to be mathematically eliminated,
to me that's insane.
When the Bruins get Michael Misa,
how do you feel about that?
I'm going to be very cross.
I think that speaks to how just a mess
that eighth seed has been in the East.
I don't think it's because everybody's been really good.
I think it's because it's kind of been kind of mid there.
And now the Canadians have finally taken hold of it.
But for the longest time this season,
it's been up for grabs for anybody,
and all those teams have struggled and then now
finally we're getting the Canadians playing good hockey.
They've won three straight and they're five back of the
Sens. Yeah.
It's pretty nuts, man. I do think
it's worth noting that like even
the Bruins who have 69 points and have lost
10 straight games.
One of them was in overtime. They're 0-9-1 in their last game.
Oh my god.
And it only counts on the NHL website
as an L7 but it's actually
an L10. Oh my god.
Because they got points, right? Yeah, they got points
in one of the games but they're worse than the buffalo sabers now which is quite the fall they
the sabers have two games in hand on them and if you put boston in the western conference
they would still have three teams behind them the preds the blackhawks and the sharks
and so i do think they're gonna get a while you got a higher end ceiling in the west i think
the teams are probably competitively closer in the east this year and i think that's not an
unfair point to make here's what i need is a leaf in i need three western conference teams to win
the lottery to pass the bruins and push them down i think they will that'd be cool i don't think
that's no no i don't need the okay the sharks can i have a soft spot um someone like the ducks here
let's get the ducks and utah you guys win the boston bruins are the boss the buffalo sabers
are really good at uh not helping themselves they're they excel at once the season is over
we're gonna win a bunch of games and they're doing the same thing this year and playing
themselves out of a better draft pick there and it's such a shame that for this organization that
they can't help themselves easy they can't even lose correctly seven three and they're fucking
unreal right now and what are you doing like the season's over thank you for turning it on where
was this in october because it it's the same it's the same shit that the canucks pulled when
bruce boudreau took over as coach right and talk it yeah and talk it that for talk its first half
year yes right you you it's the games as we mentioned the bigger teams are like yeah i'm
not gonna be i'm not gonna give you a full gas for 60 minutes tonight and the buffalo sabers like
ah yeah i'm gonna take advantage of this actually we're good can i give you the dumbest stat in the
nhl yeah the sabers are eighth in goals per game wow cool good for the eighth cool 3.26 goals per
game they give up 3.54 and how how when was the last time they made the playoffs a very long time
ago yeah no longest streak in uh north american pro sport the sabers i don't think the sabers
have made the playoffs in the entire existence of this podcast no no well like i don't think
yeah yeah no no they've been around for like 12 years yeah holy shit yeah it's rough uh you know
i i think tage thompson if he hasn't passed it already he's closing in on 40 goals again this
year very a very quiet 40 goals so crazy uh you know i i wanted to um i wanted to kind of mention
too uh i was watching a little bit of the uh uh the lightning sends game and i just i i decided
to go into lenis olmark's 2025 splits a 24 25 split bless you bless you so how he goes
how he plays against each opponent and i just thought it's worth mentioning that his goals
against average against the toronto maple leafs in two games this year uh is a solid one and his
save percentage is a 960 camera on me don sweeney may your pillow always be hot and full of ants
may you always step on a lego every time you put on a pair of socks may you step in a melted ice
cube may your car never start and when it gets over 105 may the steering wheel shake um what else
may your ice cream always be melted may your food always taste like shit may you never know
a good night's sleep may your may your neighbors always be lighting fireworks you traded marshand
to the panthers and all mark to the sins thanks for nothing asshole oh my god i think if i think
if they had just held on to all mark and tried to make an extension work having the best goaltending
duo in the nhl uh at let's say they were both eight million bucks which is about what they are
right um i think that's a worthwhile investment uh you can you could subtract from other areas
listen the leafs have a core four and i know that there's been a problem with that i actually would
call it a core five but with the salary cap going up i think that they didn't see it going up this
much you could have retained lena solmark i could have kept that you could have kept those two
together they might draft like the next friggin sergey fedorov with that draft pick they got from
ottawa may it be a complete bum like here let me ask you guys this okay general manager okay okay
would you rather have this is a question for jesse though uh your goaltending duo currently
costs you 12 million okay right you got eight in the first guy four in the second guy and the
The second guy is Younes Korpisala.
Would you rather have that or pay four extra million and have Linus Olmark?
I would rather have the second one.
The Linus Olmark one?
Yeah.
Steve?
Yeah, no, I'm with Jesse.
So this is what boggles my mind.
It's like, well, we simply can't put that much money into two players, right?
In about a season, you're going to see it go into one player.
It's going to be Kaprizov, and we'll wait and see what Conor McDavid makes, too.
and you're telling me that the most important position in the game,
which is undoubtedly goaltending,
you wouldn't put 16% of your cap into that?
That, to me, there is not enough.
I know there's so much wrong in Boston right now.
I know the reporters are on them, the fans are on them, everything.
That trade from day one was bad.
It was always bad.
You could have just as easily traded All-Mark at the deadline
if you really needed to.
And you didn't need to take Corpus Allo's money back.
That's the part that kills me.
What do you mean you had to take his money back?
They made a mistake.
They made a mistake.
But no, and I know that within the organization,
there is enormous love for Don Sweeney
and enormous love for Cam Neely.
Like that management group is safe as they come.
But I'm just wondering why more of a spotlight
is not put on that.
Those are the types of trades that are disasters
and they take years to recover from.
I think they rushed it.
This is, it's a very interesting thing because I guess the Leafs can't really relate when
it comes to putting a, like a franchise icon at the helm, right?
Like the Leafs have, who do they have working for them?
Nick Antropov in like player development, Mike Van Ryan and Craig Berube.
I would argue the Leafs need a little more of that.
Maybe not at the top.
They probably do need a little bit more of it, but like the Red Wings, how do you fire
Steve Eisenman?
you kick him upstairs you kick him upstairs that's an interesting thought
it's awkward that things ended so shitty in philly with ron hextall and and bobby now bobby
clark's still there but yeah well things it took years to well i was going to say eric lindros but
that's different um it's real difficult it's real difficult to be like hey cam
i don't know about this or that or that i just i i think that's a that's a hard thing to do so i
don't have a problem with cam neely there look at his record of success it's unbelievable it is i
think i think i have an issue with i i think i'd start to question don sweeney it's and and but
Cam's a big fan of Don and rightfully so they've had success,
but I look at what additions has he made and some of them in good
Hampus Lindholm.
Great addition.
Great.
Had he been playing all year and Charlie McAvoy not injured,
maybe we're totally different story.
Elias Lindholm,
Eunice Corpus.
Terrible.
Great.
I,
so,
okay,
it's not done.
Okay.
What about pro scouting?
Let's chat about pro scouting.
Let's have a chat.
And,
and,
and usually I praise their pro scouting.
Well,
yeah,
they're always in on the guy at the deadline well and they they find bruins they do find
bruins leas lindholm's a broom yeah i don't get that one pavel zacka made a lot of sense
oh he's been great he's charlie charlie coil i don't remember pick for charlie coil yeah i don't
remember which gm acquired him maybe it was sweeney but like holy shit perfect completely
perfect i don't think you can you can have one without the other i think those two are tied at
the hip and if we're blaming don sweeney for things we should also blame cam neely for things
like he's signing up on it he was president since 2010 which is like a year after you win the
stanley cup that's not really your team and then if we're blaming don suini for everything since
he's come it's the same shit yeah i i like trips to the cup final though yeah 100 and and listen
like that's the thing is that you can't go and like fire them now i don't but i think what you
saw the the corpus allotrade sucks uh the lindholm signing sucks i like that you're calling it the
corpus allotrix it is a corpus allotrix because that's who's coming to them sure and and uh and
and jim montgomery getting fired yeah yeah and look at the blues just won their 11th straight
last night it's man it was it jim was it the jim i know it it depends who you talk to like okay
let's look at the dismantling of the blackhawks so i'm talking like um oh that's stanny well yes
it was stanny but uh you i don't want to call it stanny from uh south park hey stanny hey stanny
um the with the red wings the sun set on the red wings everyone retired like lidstrom's gone
like happened with the sharks too everybody just kind of retired sun eventually sets yeah
is that what happened with the Bruins is the sun finally setting on them or was it a little bit
more like the Blackhawks where okay yeah you had all this success and then you ruined it long before
you needed to I think it's a little column a little column b because you can't Krejci Bergeron
aging out is just Krejci and Bergeron aging yes hundred percent uh but you still could have had
the NHL's number one goaltending tandem yeah even if Lena Solmark leaves this summer for nothing
you could have had it this year like is it isn't that just a consequence of being a really good
team is sometimes people go yeah and goaltending was at a huge premium this trade deadline
right like had they hung on to him you could have ripped someone off for all mark oh my god do you
think the oilers wouldn't have taken lenis allmark this a goaltending would have been a thing let me
ask you this let me ask you this do you think the vegas golden knights would have been ruthless
enough to trade Aiden Hill to the Bruins yes yeah yeah absolutely yep hey I know we won a cup with
you goodbye absolutely absolutely they would have totally done it yep uh I want to mention some
Leafs things so uh Kampf and McCabe sat out uh practice today they will not play tomorrow
and a part of that is I don't know what the what the actual injury report is because the David
conf one a tic-tac-tomar posted uh his last shift and he sort of seems to come up a little lame
after a face-off dry it's not even like i didn't think the puck hit him i thought it might be that
but he might have just pulled something my thinking is at this point you're probably looking at this
and going okay fine that really sucks and we don't like that but at the same time if mccabe and camp
are sitting and you know we're squarely in first right now uh give them some give them some rest
it gets nick robertson back in the lineup well i mean you sit camp you sit mccabe and the cards
fall where they do in terms of the standings like whether you finish first second or third you need
those players so and you need them for the yeah you're not going to win any rounds without them
yeah uh and so the the lines are basically the same except for that fourth line i think you're
gonna love this all right lorenz holmberg robertson yeah that's just to hear some guys
that's just to hear some so that's fun i love to hear some guys and then uh this reminds me of the
chicago chicago blackhawks pairing with chemo teaming in and whoever which would play four
minutes a night on their last run of the playoffs or uh finals no that was chemo teaming and playing
four minutes yeah but who was who's playing with them the so siebert keith played like 45 minutes
yes um i think it was nicholas shulmerson oh or maybe it was johnny oduya they had like no one by
the time that cup run was done and that's why like team that that always made me laugh it's like wow
kemo team and played five minutes last night with his defense partner who played seven i couldn't
even tell you who his partner and it didn't matter right no so you got you got riley carlo which has
been looking really good very good uh oel tanev which is uh is what it is i don't mind that yeah
And then Benoit Myers, which I think in any sort of playoff situation,
if they're playing more than 10 minutes, you probably got an issue.
Hockenpah can't be, I don't think, if he is able to play,
can't be activated until the playoffs.
I'm telling you he's playing.
And Pacioretty, also I don't believe, can be activated until the playoffs.
He's an interesting one.
Stollers, it looks like, will start.
And that's tomorrow night against Columbus.
I mean, we're really running out of runway here.
It's looking like Stollers is the game one starter.
I think so.
Now, Columbus, this is a big game for Columbus.
They are four points out at this point, but you still got to try.
Oh, they're right there.
Game in hand, I believe, though.
Game in hand on Montreal.
Montreal's been pretty good.
That ass kicking last night didn't, no favors.
Do you think the Columbus Blue Jackets will want this one more than the Toronto Maple Leafs will?
Yeah, just a bit.
So if you're the Leafs in this one, you have to just win by picking your spots, I think.
I mean, there's still things to play for.
um you know carlo is such an important part of this team and he still needs to establish what
he is with riley uh their numbers are good though i have to stress that this is the best riley's
looked all year so keep it going um matthews probably wants to get going um some guys probably
want to stay hot um nick robertson you want to you want to play a little bit or get traded or
whatever it is the path forward for you is to play well not to play shitty so you got to do
what you can do hey you know who shouldn't look like they're taking the night off
philip myers i don't remember the last time i saw him um so listen there's still stuff to play for
boys and a three point lead with how many games uh the leafs uh have seven games left along with
lightning and the panthers there's 14 points up for grabs absolutely um that three point lead is
far from safe you have to win it's hilarious too the regulation wins between the leafs and
the lightning exact same 38 i believe it crazy leafs have one shootout win i believe yes the
landing of two so yeah damn man uh it's a good thing shootouts aren't a thing in the playoffs
because the the panthers are five and oh in the shootout oh my god the um the the blue jackets
they have some players playing really well like boone jenner's come back and he's been so good
mon hands come back and he's been so good they can't keep the puck out of their net it's crazy
can i also throw this stat at you throw it whip it uh the shootout win to loss ratio for the blue
jackets is six to one they've won six and lost one they only have 24 regulation wins this year
oh boy dude i don't know why that it's interesting i don't know if it matters you win you win
yeah but like three tiebreaker you go with which one of these teams is better you go well probably
the one who didn't need the shootout ones yeah yeah and and by the way regulation wins is is
overtime so they've done a lot under pressure that's an interesting one you can look but it
is three on three you're treating a three on three win the same as a five on five win
yeah standings are a fun house mirror i think you gotta go wins or losses everything is a win
or everything is a loss or you go three two one system like they got they need to pick a lane here
i just i agree with you jesse i feel like if i have to look at a win loss column that's four
categories long i'm gonna die it's not so like the pwhl does it i know i hate it there too
but so i think then for you would be go wins and losses because i think it's ridiculous
that we have this system where it's kind of like the one point and and that is you pick a lane you
know agreed we did it at four nations no one cared yeah yeah this conversation being had do you think
that like shootouts should just be gone from the regular season then as well like why why are we
getting rid of them for playoffs if we want to keep it this like oh we want to make sure it's
the fairest win possible yeah why aren't you doing that for all the games they're determined to have
every game have a winner and a loser and they don't want basketball's version of overtime which
is just continuous in the regular season which i understand but i just wonder what it would look
like yeah you know what i mean what results would change what would the results change of some of
these teams if we got rid of shootouts altogether well maddie as an old i grew up watching ties
and the game just sort of stopped and they decided they don't want to do that yeah what would happen
if you had a tie was that one team usually the shittier team would rag the puck play to the tie
play to the tie yeah and and that sucks that totally sucks i hated that i went to a tie i
I saw a couple of myself.
Someone in person.
Sucks.
They also used to play five-on-five overtime at that point, too,
which was three-on-three overtime is so much better.
Oh, man.
Five-on-five overtime in 1999.
So I would say that shootouts are a means to an end.
Yeah, because if you talk to Gary, he'll tell you we can't have games
like the playoffs where they go to three OTs, two OTs,
just for the sake of the broadcast for local news
that needs to come on at 11 and for the sake of the players they can't be playing that much time
during the regular season where it's like some of those playoff games where it's three ots and
20 minute periods and all that i think that's what makes them special i don't i don't care
about a three ot game against the this year's boston bruins and the buffalo sabers you know
what i'm saying yeah i have children i have a life yeah i'll stay up in the playoffs to watch
it but i'm not like imagine sharks blackhawks triple ot oh i would love it in in may in april
sorry go shacks go
shacks but you can't
you can't really have
that oh no you need to
you need to end these
games somehow and i
don't think ties are it
no uh so no you need
something i i i've
always been of the
belief that uh the the
best way to have high
stakes overtime is don't
give a loser point don't
you want to you want
teams fighting out there
uh don't give them a
point for just making it
to over yeah i think
don't give them a
participation that's what
i think yeah i think
should be wins stop
changing the rules so
much for these playoff teams yeah like you know what i mean like it's it's a different type of
hockey you're kind of playing if you go but go to a games games what games above or games below
whatever the hell they call it in the mlb and nba what do they call it games back yeah it's such an
easy thing to go through or you can just do points with wins and losses that works the point but they
love the nhl loves the illusion of a race they love the illusion of padding like there's been
certain teams like i think the flames didn't they lose like 19 games in overtime or something a
couple years ago or some ridiculous number so that's 19 points under that system that they
probably shouldn't have so it masks bad teams it masks teams that probably shouldn't be there
i'm a believer that just do away with it because that's when you're gonna have guys fighting like
mad in overtime yeah that would make things better and lead to less shootouts but you know
didn't we digress have to do something like that last year did they where they were they pulled
their goalie in overtime to go for
two points, but if you pull your goalie in
overtime and get scored on, you
don't get a point.
Remember that? We were learning rules on
the fly. Weird, weird rule.
Okay, so
a few other things to sort of
touch on here as we
look at the standings. The
Minnesota Wild,
as I mentioned last show, have been
passed by the St. Louis Blues.
Blues have won 11 straight.
They are the hottest team in the NHL.
91 points it would still be a lot to catch the colorado avalanche but as we remember another
seventh place team this is when we used to see the game correctly uh rolled into the playoffs
on the hot streak of hot streaks after being sort of out of it uh in 2012 and that is the los
angeles kings and it's when jeff carter arrived they finally like hey we can score goals now
that's great for us we could already already play defense do we need to start looking at the st
louis blues as i'm not even talking about the saint louis blues from 2019 do we need to start
looking at the blues as like a legitimate threat when i see oh yeah the stars the avalanche the
knights i'm like three legitimate threats i'm not sold on the jets just because of prior playoff
performance yeah right i think that's fair dude it's the same as the leafs leafs leading their
division and you don't believe in them like right i get it i gotta see it first yeah um i'll i
am willing to believe it i'm willing to see it but you got to do it the kings have been
spectacular especially in the second half of this year the oilers are injured it looks like
leon dry sidle he left last night didn't come back he'll probably be back before the end of
the season but whatever st louis blues kind of in vegas i mentioned st louis blues are kind of like
they could just fuck around and get 100 points here and it's the parallels to 2019 are insane
there's still some of that championship dna there yep it's not a lot man that was six years ago i
think that they moved on from that's a team the sun didn't set on they made some of the wrong
decisions and now they're back and they're doing better but alan and i were talking about it on on
one of the agent provocateurs this year and he he agreed with me he said he said i think that they
moved on from their core too quickly so petrangelo that's probably true yeah probably true um they
probably caught it and covid didn't help they've done a good job replenishing it oh yeah uh robert
thomas is has got the second most points i think since four nations behind nikita kucherov yeah
like he's pretty good uh kairu's pretty good i'm trying to think of the guys who were there when
they won it bennington for sure pareko for sure i believe i'm pretty sure brayden shen was a part
of that team oh yeah he was there's not a ton else um but i mean jim montgomery deserves a lot
of praise here like you show me a good goalie i'll show you a good coach and all that um there
were there were some very bad jim montgomery games uh before the four nation but bennington's turned
it on and it's 2019 all over confidence is a wild thing isn't it it is a truly freaking wild thing
Uh, do you think, um, this is so freaking unbelievable.
Um, do you think that the flames who have a little bit of life can potentially catch
the Minnesota wild?
And I'm just going to give you their last tens.
Okay, guys, it's a big spread in points.
The flames have one game in hand on the wild.
So the wild have six games left.
The flames have, uh, seven wild of 89 points.
The flames of 84.
Okay.
That's ugly.
It's a tough spread.
The last 10 for the Minnesota Wild are 4-4-2.
The last 10 for the Flames are 6-3-1.
Is there any chance the Flames can make this interesting, Jesse and Steve?
Oh, there's definitely a chance.
No.
Blake Coleman scored last night.
That was big.
I think just by the sake of how well they played early on,
the Wild will get in.
And the Flames can't put together a streak.
They struggled to just win a bunch of games in a row.
And I don't think now is the time they're going to do it.
They do have the advantage of going up against San Jose and Anaheim,
and then San Jose again, and then they have Minnesota next Friday.
But I think Minnesota can just kind of get by here and make the playoffs
and then lose in the first round to the Jets.
Jesse, I think what you just said is music to the ears of every fantasy hockey sicko
because the Minnesota Wild are this week's team.
They play Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday,
which maximizes your games played um you're unlikely to overlap with other guys in your team
so lots of people going out there getting uh marco rossi jared spurgeon and if you're wondering why
the other day marco rossi scored and the minnesota wild still lost that is because i prayed for it
at the edge of my bed what on my knees and prayed for it because uh i picked up rossi but the guy
i'm playing has philip gustafson i needed him to have a big game and for gustafson to lose which
is exactly what i got and i'm still gonna i'm convinced steve's the only one in his league that
actually is like trying it might be true you make just terrible roster decisions all the time and
then you you're like oh i won the week but you like didn't play five guys like are you playing
against anybody yes i'm losing by like 25 points no you keep winning i'm but i am losing by 25
But like the previous weeks to get to the finals here.
Oh, yeah, no.
You keep being like, oh, I'm so down, and then you end up winning.
Is anybody else setting their lineups, or is it just you?
I am losing 95.2 to 128.4.
Did the guy you faced in the semifinals, did he set his lineup?
I don't know or care.
Get good.
Get good.
I think it was Myrtle.
Get good, Myrtbag.
Oh, yeah, I'm sure he's got nothing going on.
Well, what does he have?
kids what a great excuse i got kids get wrecked i won the dad bowl let's go let's go steve's an
awful fantasy player i'm terrible i fucking i don't know i don't know if you win this thing
like i don't know what to do dry sidle being day-to-day is a crime against me personally
and i'm mad uh something i i wanted to mention is i recorded a show with alan yesterday um and
it's out and it's about and it and it kind of dovetails perfectly there's a couple things first
off it it it adds on to our conversation about the canadian rights deal that we talked about
wednesday it also adds on to a michael russo chris johnson article about rfas this summer
and so we talk a little bit about in the first part of the episode the rights deal and how that
matters not just for canadian fans but for everybody and why it you know that it's very
likely the nhl left a lot of money on the table uh secondly and this is the more fun one the rfa
conversation did alan talk about how matthew nize is exempt no he didn't talk about that why i did
bring up matthew nize as an example but alan obviously doesn't represent him i don't talk
about non-octagon blah blah blah he he'll you know what alan does now he'll he always says that and
then he'll say if it was a player like that though it could go like this so i asked him i said so
what's the play because everybody forgets when the dylan holloway philip broberg thing happened
last summer it was august and we were supposed to be off and then it was like steve you're gonna
have to make videos yeah it's like one of the biggest wasn't i not even i was i feel like i
was somewhere you probably were you're at a cottage or something like that and and it was
like hey steve this is a this is sort of a big deal and i was like and then cc gets traded and
then this the blues give more compensation to oh yeah bowman and i was just looking at my wife like
i'm sorry i gotta work i'm sorry yeah but it happened in august and so there was one point
i asked alan uh okay so as an agent what's the play here do you because because you have this
the team can offer you anything well as of july 1st aren't you just allowed to call up well 100
but you can if you have conversations with the general manager so let's say i'm the agent for
an rfa person got it and jesse uh jesse is the general manager i always put him in the general
manager spot because that's my other job and jesse keeps offering me stuff for my client steve dangle
i can tell my client steve dangle wait until july 1st why why sign this now right and and then i
asked i'm like is it even wait till july 1st why isn't it wait till august 1st because that at that
point a lot of teams have spent a lot of their cap right and that's what happened to the oilers and
it's not even totally stan bowman's fault because he wasn't there july 1st right now they did it's
jeff jackson who was like no we need jeff skinner not dylan holloway um jeff skinner who had a goal
last night uh i do think uh play his first playoff game yeah i know i'm excited for it looks like
that's a long career and a very good career to not play in the playoffs um alan would not answer
the question i said what's the play as an agent and he said he wouldn't he said that's a trade
secret i'm not going to talk about it all right adam you wouldn't remember this because you don't
remember what you had for breakfast but true steve didn't do the broberg video you did it
oh with cj oh right oh yeah there had to be a because steve wasn't around or something
cj is to be on so steve didn't do the video and you did it so yeah i do you remember doing this
adam i don't i do now i do now i do now because i remember this video evidence i remember it's
so funny coming in here in the summer because it's so quiet in the stpn studio so it was uh
it's cool to cool to see that august 20th that video was released august 20th that's how late
that was i have no idea what i was doing so i think now because all the insiders go to the
cottage and stuff at around like july 10th you know cj goes on vacation july july 1st uh like
10 p.m yeah you know like your friends like bye they're gone i see in two months yeah but i think
it it opens up an opportunity for reporters that are not necessarily at the insider level yet to
get some deals done or to get some good scoops because frankly uh it looks like the nhl season
might extend a little bit later now i told alan during the show i'm like you know there's gonna
be a lot of people who are like this is hot air and this is a guy driving up money for his clients
and blah blah blah and alan said listen i will we it will be the first topic back when we come
back in september because we take the summer off for ap he's like we'll the first thing back we'll
see if i'm full of hot air or not but he is quoted directly in the article with russo and johnston
uh i think it's really interesting i think it's really interesting that alan has four
uh restricted free agents who would they be they would be adam raska from the minnesota wild
jan yannick from the ottawa senators jan mishak from the anaheim ducks and jj peterka
oh from the buffalo freaking saber he has a ton of ufas this summer too
but the rfas is uh he had a relatively quiet year last year so this will be a fun summer i think for
him the the uh uh oh my god his ufa class this year is insane what is it uh william lagasin
boko imama matthew highmore that rat in ottawa great player for them martin firk king of the
ferc bomb louis de mink uh nick de simone max patcher ready mark andre flurry who is retiring
jonathan drewan oh yeah maybe jonathan drewan jan ruda uh radic faxa jeremy biaka butuka yeah
biaka butuka his dad oh no sorry he's an rfa next year so it ends at faxa biaka butuka's dad played
in the nfl that's the guy we were talking about i used to draft him or i used to go and trade for
him in like Madden
2000 because he was a Canadian. He was
one of the only Canadians in the league. And then Allen's
RFA class next year is Bianca Batuca,
Ivan Ivan,
Maximilian Zuber, Zachary
Leroux, and David
Juracek. Zachary Leroux
is old enough to be a U. No, no, no. RFA.
Allen's going to be a busy
bee. Ivan's middle name?
Mike. Is it?
No.
You imagine Ivan, Mike, Ivan?
If your middle name is not also Ivan,
your parents are not doing their job
Ivan, Ivan, Ivan
I'm pretty sure it's Mike
Ivan, Ivan, Ivan
Ivan times three, that makes him thriving
oh, stop it
stop it, oh my god
okay
you know with that, why don't we do a press conference
we haven't done one of those in a bit
first question
sorry Jesse, first question
I meant to throw to Steve on this story.
Cam Lund scored his first goal in the NHL
against the New York Rangers.
We were in attendance.
Cam Lund of the San Jose Sharks.
Why am I bringing this up?
You're bringing it up because that was his first NHL goal.
His first NHL game was against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
When we got back to the hotel after that Leaf game,
Leaf Sharks game, there was a family in the lobby.
and one of them goes go sharks at us and they said it like that because we were wearing uh i think
some shark stuff go sharks and we were like yeah and we look and there's an older lady who is
wearing a shark's jersey and i walk just behind her enough because we're going to the elevator
to see that it's a lunge jersey so i stop in my tracks i'm like okay that's his family
no one else has a camel on jersey come on now this is the first nhl game and so i walk up and i go
did one of you have a family member play their first nhl game tonight
and instead of being coy about it and bashful they were like yep
and i proceeded i stopped at the elevator after you did because we were taking separate elevators
so i came over too it was like a 10 minute conversation they were so proud so proud and
they're from massachusetts oh yeah can you tell yeah go shocks yeah i go uh i go uh they said
something about the leafs and i go oh yeah i bet you love the leafs and they're like why do you say
that i'm like i hear you they know what accent they have what was great too is for the rest of
the time because they were in there for both games they were there for the leafs game and the rangers
game they would pass us and steve sort of teased them about the good go shocks go shacks they they
yelled just go shocks at us the whole time the whole time it was great they're a bunch of beauties
great family very cool to see him score it was interesting we talked to his mom and then as soon
as he scored and it was the rangers were like kicking the shark's butt like it was five nothing
and then the goal goes in and everybody loses their mind in the sap center and they put the
camera on cam lunn's mom yeah and she's like just having the best time and it was very cool very
very cool to see that so his dad was over they were all over the moon yeah like completely over
the moon um i mean what do you do it's your son or grandson or nephew's first and i think he had
i think he had i think there was just in that party there was 10 people so he might be at least
he might be playing for free at that point yeah but and who cares yeah i it's awkward right you
don't know how to make conversation necessarily with strangers in the moment but uh i was like
oh yeah i saw him he had a good game which he did i thought he had a good game but the first thing
that came out of my mouth was oh yeah i was sitting in the corner where he took a big hit
nice someone hit him pretty hard i don't remember who it was but he had a great game very very
precious moment with the
Lunds. Good times.
Go ahead. I believe
we told that story already. Did we? Alright, well, we're telling it
actually. Yeah, on one of the San Jose
pods. Oh, well, we told it again today.
All good. The
link to the Stouffville show is
in the description now. Adam,
you were wondering about that off the top. Peterborough.
Sorry, Peterborough show. It's in the description.
And the tickets don't go live until 9 o'clock
tomorrow morning. So I just wanted
everybody to know that because we did say at the
beginning, oh, we don't know when that's going to go live and
Not everybody will listen this late in the show.
So, 9 o'clock tomorrow morning is when the tickets will be available.
All right.
And they'll be available at the link in the description wherever you are listening to this podcast.
Adam, can you tell me what's on the screen right now?
Oh, it's me and Tim.
Tim is racing around Suzuka.
He's racing in the racing bulls car of Liam Lawson.
And basically what we do with every race weekend with Formula One is we put Tim on the Mike Schmidt simulator.
mike is the guy who donated that to us uh and tim races around and tim's getting better because he
actually got to fiddle with the steering wheel now so i can make less fun of him although every
time he messes up i still make fun of him uh but it's cool because you get the chance to see
the uh i wish you know i wish that nhl arenas were more distinctive so you could you know you
could sort of do this in the nhl games too they all kind of tend to look the same at the ice level
but every track well yeah i mean like they're all they're not like it's not like the mlb where
They're all completely different.
It's kind of neat to be able to do this.
What are you asking from the game to be able to drive around?
No, no.
I would say it would be kind of cool if we could do this with Steve.
Here's Steve playing the whatever.
Drop in.
No, the easy way to do this is have me ride every Zamboni.
There you go.
Why doesn't the NHL?
There's an easy win.
31 to go.
Easy win for NHL 26.
I'm struggling to understand what you're asking from the NHL game in relation to the F1.
I think it would just be cool to get the atmosphere of the arena that you're in.
You know?
See, SJ Sharkey stuck from the ceiling.
Well, or the fan chants.
Hit somebody!
Anybody!
Or the Nashville, thank you, can I have another?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So Tim raced around Suzuka, so you get to see Suzuka at eye level.
Yeah.
Anyway, there's us.
Jesse, you do a great job editing these.
it looks very youtube um i i wish i wish that you could just drive around the nhl arenas
i in the zamboni come on they used to used to do that in what was it 2k something 2k um one or 2k
zamboni driving nhl game i forget which uh oh no only only david ayers comes up no oh nhl 2k
zamboni 2k9 nhl 2k9 you could drive the zambonis in the mini game so it was a thing kind of that's
cool yeah you collect like points or something i forget how it went but you're trying to zamboni
the whole ice next question my friend uh you're talking about all mark and his save percentage
against toronto maple leafs all time he has a save percentage of i had it right here i believe he has
13 starts no he's 13 games played 11 starts he's six five and one against toronto maple
east he has a 905 maddie bring that off the screen for one second it's not as bad as you'd
think if that's the all mark who shows up you can you can win that series but he's been pretty damn
good so trivia question who is the all-time leader and save percentage against the toronto
maple east with a minimum of 10 games played oh great question we watched alexander georgiev give
up five but he's tempting safe percentage minimum oh oh easy easy dominic hashek i'm
gonna say tuka rask all right so we'll start at seven there tuka rask is number seven ah wow he
It is a 9-26 against the Toronto Maple Leafs in his career.
31 games played, 29 starts, 19-7-2.
Wow.
Unreal.
Then we get Jack Norris at 6.
Boo.
10 games played, 8 starts, 4-2-2, 9-27.
In what year?
I don't know.
It's a while ago.
I don't know.
Jack Norris.
When did Jack Norris play?
No idea.
Hockey.
I have to put Jack Norris, hockey player, because was he not also a baseball player?
There was a Jack Norris.
Jack Morris.
ah it was morris uh 75 76 was his last oh okay and his last nhl game was 70 71 with the kings
okay not as long ago as i thought and he was not like a crazy pro or anything like that but yeah
okay been a while yeah jack morris uh was a jay long time baseball did he play for the jays yeah
wasn't there a guy like he was like a pitcher and they got him from the twins or something like that
he was yeah yeah no i think we're the same guy same guy mustache yeah yeah mustache yeah uh yeah
that's that's morris this is norris he's at number six number five thomas vocoon
he was unreal for a time 15 starts 15 games played nine four into a 927 played for the
trap preds oh yeah yeah all right number four who was your guess hashik hashik and adam said
Tukaracu's at number seven. We have Brian
Boucher. The Bouch.
Twelve games played. Ten
starts. Seven, two, and one.
Wow. Nine, twenty-seven.
Strong record. And that was also
during a time when the Leafs sucked ass.
Oh, yes. Like, Boucher's
career happened when the Leafs were at their absolute
hundred-year worst.
Thomas Fokun, by the way, right-handed goalie.
Oh. Weird.
Sneaky, sneaky. Before you reveal
my answer is still Hasik.
sneaky pick patrick laleem because he was unreal against the leafs in the right in the regular
season yeah horrible in the playoffs that's uh yeah that's a good one all right number three
okay dominant
look at that record my god 33 games played 32 starts 22 5 5 and 1 because of ties back then
so this is a 928 save percentage and a 194 goals against every this is why wow i say when i was a
kid i hated the sabers hated them i i can even even that some of that probably goes back to when
the blackhawks are really good in the mid 90s too with him and belfort on it maybe maybe most of it
sabers but damn damn belfort might even be on this list number two if damien rhodes is in the top two
I'm going to laugh.
No, he was down there.
Oh, there he is, 13.
That's still pretty good.
Former Leaf Damien Rhodes who kicked their ass multiple times.
Kevin Weeks at 15.
Oh, Heels is...
Glenn Healy is 14?
Glenn Healy, 11 starts, 7-3-1, 9-9-10.
I'm sure Glenn would love to know that.
Craig Anderson, that night at 17.
Look at the minutes played.
1,241.
21-9-0 against the Leafs.
21-9-0 and 4, Craig Anderson.
Jesus.
all right number two this is real good cory schneider oh 13 games played 12 starts 7 1
and 4 a 9 29 so a bunch of those probably were devil starts but the that was in an era where
the leafs were so shit and the canucks were so unbeatable so i'm i'm not totally shocked by that
And if you wanted to bump up, I said it at 10 games minimum played against the Leaf.
If you want to bump it up to like 14, Corey Schneider would not make this list.
So Dominic Hasek would have been number two.
If you said it's a 30, yeah, Hasek would be one.
No, that's not true.
Because that number one, we have Ken Dryden.
Ken Dryden, who played 34 games, played against the Leafs.
33 starts, 22, 2, and 9.
Those nines are ties.
A 9-34 against the Toronto Maple Leafs in his career.
And 2,000 minutes against them.
That's a lot of ice.
Oh, yeah.
And an assist.
He had half the amount of assists as he had losses to the Leafs in 34 games.
It's criminal how underrated Ken Dryden is when you compare his stats
because he only played the 10 years, right?
and then he was like i'd like i'd rather be a lawyer um more career ties than losses i don't
think it's a mistake that the islanders dynasty started immediately when ken dryden retired
like it's it's a no disrespect to the islanders but he was so you go back and look i think he
lost less than 100 games in his career he did he retired the year before gretzky showed up
which was a good business decision yeah damn dude he was so good it's crazy now gentlemen
would you like to go to the other end of the list the worst the worst safe percentages yeah
at least minimum 10 games right yes the same same list minimum 10 games i'm just gonna go to the end
of it and so safe percentage i'm gonna say track for a lot of these guys on there longquist is 100
on there uh no sense we're gonna get some names you don't know so i'm just gonna reveal actually
there's one at uh 171 that's kind of funny all right so maddie you can bring this up
number 180 on the list pat jablonski oh pat jablonski has the worst percentage
what you jablonski it doesn't matter what your name is that's the worst rock impression in human
history that was bad i'm not good at impressions guys i was just reading it was a good reference
thank you um worst save percentage against toronto my police in nhl history minimum 10
games played in only eight starts but 10 games played he's three four and oh 854 pat jablonski
then we get who's number 179 ken reagan it doesn't matter who's number 179 there it is
we got ken reagan at 179 mario lessard at 178 greg stefan at 177 176 doug sotart sotart yeah
Dan Cloutier at 175.
Man, Canucks fans were so hard on Dan Cloutier.
There was a point at which you could Google worst goalie in the world on purpose,
and Dan Cloutier's name would come up.
They basically manipulated the Google search result to make sure that was the case.
He was very, very good for a time and so unplayable for a while.
Playoffs were tough.
174 is Phil Meyer.
173 is Jacques Cloutier.
172 is Alain Cheverier at an 864.
And now, 171, we get a modern name.
Henrik Lundqvist.
He is a former Leaf.
Active?
Currently active in the NHL.
Oh, a former Leaf currently active.
Ilya Samsonov.
Take your guesses.
Currently active in the NHL.
Played for the Leafs.
Played for a number of different teams.
Multiple teams this year, actually.
okay so it's not enough it could be stay lock hasn't been traded uh reimer oh james reimer
every yeah james reimer owns one of the worst save percentages against the toronto maple leafs
in uh with 10 games played eight starts he is three and two and oh with an eight six four wow
That's so Leafs.
Still has a winning record.
That's so true.
415 goals against average.
That's some all-time Leafs numbers there.
There were a couple years where the Panthers couldn't catch a cold,
and the Leafs just lit them up.
Right.
So that makes sense.
Okay.
Looking in on that.
All right, that was fun.
Thank you for that.
That was lots of fun.
Okay, don't forget.
