Starting point is 00:00:00 This is Steve Dangle Podcast, powered by Sports Interaction. Want to bet? Spank Andy. Woo! S-D-P-P. The Steve Dangle Podcast, with your hosts, Steve Dangle, Adam Wilde, and Jesse Blake. Let's go! Hello, friends.
Starting point is 00:00:21 Hi. Welcome back. Now, today is a bit of an interesting show, because not only are we dealing with a sick steve dangle who has strep throat and i don't know if you know what steve does for a living it's yell yeah um so uh we're gonna we are gonna have a little bit of a shorter show today wednesday or friday will be a bit longer the other thing that happened before the show today jesse yeah what happened i half forgot this oh my god internet sometimes you're right you can see he's really learned yeah yeah sometimes the internet is right i've heard it in the
Starting point is 00:00:54 youtube comments before they yell at me and they say what do they say jesse why is your water so close to the mixer and i would tell them it's not as close as it think as it looks because of the lens and it's a little further than it is but it's like a whole six inches it's a whole six inches today because before we started i did indeed knock my water and it fell onto the mixer and we had to go get a new one it's unfortunate that did happen today and i apologize so that makes me a good person well i'll think about it it it did delay us an hour too so that's why so we just had to go and i apologized uh-huh and i owned up to my mistake my mistake right so i am the bigger person and a good person and a great guy and if anything you should be thanking
Starting point is 00:01:46 me for your apology my apology i don't know if we're done with him no i don't think we're done i haven't received a thank you yet for being so selfless in your apology yes for using the company card to pay for your mistake and you got the water right there in between an ipad a computer and a mixing board it's not gonna happen again look at all of this space yeah that's your space but the water could go why no this is my space oh no oh no i just i'm waiting for my i'm waiting for my thank you i haven't heard it jesse also i want to thank you for all those years of walking to the studio from the ghost oh there it is he's never gonna forget about it wow you know what jesse he never asked either let me just point that out i jesse yeah my heart want to thank you
Starting point is 00:02:39 for making chris hadfield the second biggest hero to appear on sdpn in the last 24 hours wow who's the first jesse me oh obviously first and the second no chris hadfield what do you want to talk about i want to talk about uh the fact that friday was awesome and thank you so much for coming out we had an amazing time amazing time and if you want to see well it's our most recent podcast uh it's steve dangle podcast live at the mansion what was so cool about it is that um we were able to bring a camera get the get some crowd shots and that sort of thing but uh just the energy in the room that was our first live show in four years it took us three years to even get to that show yeah uh big shout out to the mansion bar in kingston
Starting point is 00:03:27 on princess street uh dave owens the owner was a was a huge help for us and um and honestly it was kind of a uh it was just like even walking in there because we had to walk in you know like rock stars you walk in the front and people were like yeah and then it took us 15 minutes to set up and then the show started yeah um it's a uh uh it was a very very great like it was a cool event everybody was fun everybody was engaged um and we got to meet kind of everybody afterwards and i want to do a little shout out to steve dangle because oh stop he was he was steve was really sick and we were you know there was a there was a chance that the show may not happen and he was on his first day of antibiotics and stood and steroids too we finished the show right before the game
Starting point is 00:04:14 against the senators uh started the leafs and senators on friday night and we stood there and shook hands and steve stood there and shook hands no i stood there and fist bumped yeah you fist bumped that's right until midway through the third period and that was non-stop and i just want to i want to do a little shout out because i know how shitty you were feeling uh but i i definitely also know how great it was for all of us to be there and be surrounded by our people again it was like our friends it's like i we missed you and and you know it was difficult but you know we got to follow it up with a relaxing drive home oh man so this is okay okay let me let me just from my perspective here's how it went so we were going to stay over there in an
Starting point is 00:04:54 airbnb and uh we thought jesse and steve both kind of looked at me at one point in the night they're like you know what i think we'll drive home and i was like yeah it was like 10 30 and we'd be home by like one yeah yeah so i was like okay well so i just jumped in my car and left yeah but steve and jesse took a little bit longer than i did for whatever reason i'm not gas and windshield fluid we were filming the lfr and then oh that's oh i was there for that no but you left right after we were done filming and we still had to send the video and do all that stuff yeah yeah i bounce around for that part so i get on the highway i'm a little behind jesse and adam calls he's like oh my god it's a whiteout it's absolutely horrible out here and i'm like
Starting point is 00:05:32 well that's strange it's a bit windy but there's not a flake on the ground and then i drove for about 10 minutes and it was a whiteout that is it's either the worst or second worst storm i've ever driven through what was the worst uh it was oh my god it was um it came down really hard and really fast and like the highway was it was like two or three times as caked up as our drive was it's just our drive was so much longer and it was wind so what we had was we had blowing snow and i couldn't see uh more than a few feet in front of me so what you do then is you just tuck in behind an 18 wheeler that's right i was telling natalie when i walked in she was telling about the drive and everything i was like we all found our 18 wheeler trucks to just drive behind for 45 minutes
Starting point is 00:06:19 doing 40 to 60 kilometers an hour for at least an hour now i want to say that i have an f-150 that's what i drive oh steve and jesse you're in a mazda 3 and jesse jesse you were in a kia whatever yeah tiny car yeah and and uh and and they they made it and i have to say you guys made it like i what i was saying is like 2 30 in the morning i know and i haven't white knuckled it like that in a long long time my arms were sore the next day oh i bet it's crazy but so jesse called i'm talking to jesse and he's like how bad is it up there i'm like it's getting worse and he's like man i'm gonna pull off the highway he's like hang on let me conference in steve so he conferences in steve and the three of us just chatted all the way home for an hour and two hours well i pulled
Starting point is 00:07:03 off at an hour and a half but i'm just talking to these guys about yeah how the show went we were just talking about sdp and stuff to keep like we're focused but keep keep us awake keep our mind off the road everything yeah i i pulled over at one point uh and took a break because it was it was too much where i was coming from it was intense and i i couldn't i i lost my truck for a little bit and they like the 18 wheeler i was trailing and it was it was just too much so i pulled over for like 30 minutes and then you got ahead of me eventually and then i was last didn't lie i was looking at our call log hour 54 to adam uh and then the steve one was oh it's three minutes so it's about an hour 54 total oh we two two uh 22 yeah that's that's the full time
Starting point is 00:07:46 that's the full time two hours and 22 minutes because you and i had a quick conversation you're like let me call adam and then i was surprised to hear the both of you because adam called you and then i called you and then i called both of you because we all came to that like i didn't see anything in the forecast no and we were all like hey this is so insane i was talking my parents like do that drive back and forth to come see us and they said the belleville trenton if you're in the eastern part of ontario not bowman you kept calling belleville i was getting ready to kill him i was getting so mad tokyo drift and slap jesse i kept calling bowmanville belleville um that no the opposite no i don't know
Starting point is 00:08:27 the belleville trenton spot apparently is always bad so if you're from there shout out to you because that is a that's a tough one i um i also want to i want i want to show these guys because like like i said i i brought up the the truck that i drive no i'm a truck i'm i'm driving in my truck i've got the winter settings on it and everything and all that all that shit but there's always like some guy in like a dad suv yep who's rolling on bald summer tires right up and you know there's one path in the snow right there's one path and it's the one that the 18 wheelers make no there's some guy that's like we are not going nearly fast enough this is not nearly dangerous enough for me and they're flying up the left side in the fast lane with three inches of
Starting point is 00:09:12 snow on the ground you know what something we else we all saw when we were driving up a car in the ditch because of people like that full-blown 18 wheeler in the ditch it just the guy like the lights were out the guy left sorry he's like sleeping in the cab or something waiting for the morning yeah a little lopsided all right yeah it was on it but yeah like there's there was a couple of dodge caravans who were like i'm gonna go 120 in this whiteout yeah and then yeah there's a couple cars in the ditches when we're driving i i was insane i was like okay guys like and you know obviously we didn't see them on the on the on the in the ditches going home but one day you feel like you keep playing that game one day it's going to come up now it's your turn to
Starting point is 00:09:52 be in the ditch right no never me me though man that water will never spill on the mixer no i'm gonna keep it right in the middle middle so that you can you can hit it onto the mixer or your laptop it's where i like to keep my water what is it called when when somebody you know like if there's a picture hanging on the wall and it's slightly crooked and it drives people crazy is that OCD is that OCD I don't know I'm wondering if there are people watching who have never never seen that water like
Starting point is 00:10:23 that before and it is every episode if you're looking at that now unable to focus on the show because you're worried that Jesse and his long arms are going to smack it over again someone send me a full diagram of my LFR studio explaining what's wrong with it because things are
Starting point is 00:10:39 slightly offline or whatever and I'm like I i put all those nails in that no i'm not fixing wow so you deal with it so were they bothered by your by like was it an ocd thing and i gotta i gotta find it i gotta i gotta find it and it's like highlighted in different colors like based on what is wrong with it no we're going through this on the show that's so funny i would love to check that out well it's not meant to be the room is not meant to be exactly symmetrical it's meant to be sort of a mosaic of all this cool but if symmetry is possible then why not for certain people because certain people
Starting point is 00:11:18 want to mosaic they want it to be splattered and then other people are like no everything must be organized and it's usually no it's hardcore you're hardcore one way or hardcore the other way not me i was so there is a symmetry that it's built around okay and then there it's chaos around the symmetry and just, I gotta find it. You do have to find it. I gotta find it. I wanna know. I wanna know. Don't do it right now, or we'll lose you.
Starting point is 00:11:43 Got it. Yeah, no. We'll lose you like Nylander on a day off. That's right. Not today, you show. Did Nylander get lost? Yeah, he just, if you give him time off, he might just wander to the woods. He might get his hair braided and get prosciutto. What is you doing, baby? Okay, so before
Starting point is 00:11:59 the game, a lot of people sent me this, and i appreciate it now when derrick jeter retired they made a special thing for derrick jeter what was it steve uh reed you packed so it was respect but the was it the s or the s was a two was a two so just like reader was number two yeah so they had hats that that literally spelled out reed you packed with duncan keith when he hit a thousand games what did chicago do dick it was just a d1k and it literally spelled dick dick and then you see what tavaris did last night or what they did with tavaris yes and you realize how easily avoidable dick was what it's just i was hoping we could make fun of it but i couldn't think of anything it's jt1k it's so delightfully
Starting point is 00:12:49 john tavaris yes i was gonna say boring yeah here are his initials here how many games he played enjoy the game kale salad enjoy kills yep kombucha fucking um keg in my house that is it's a thing he has does he have a kombucha keg yeah didn't we talk about that maybe we did i forgot i waited for months to reveal that so the leafs are they're jokesters right so at media day they kept referring to uh like tovaris and his love of kombucha and just oh for christmas i would get him kombucha The guy, oh, I, he already has so much of it, but blah, blah, blah. And then a couple of them, I want to say Bunting was one of them said he had a tap. No.
Starting point is 00:13:32 In his house. And I'm like, okay, yeah, sure. And like, you don't know where to go in that moment. Cause the kombucha tap is not in your notes. Right. But you want to follow that path. Uh, but you're also like, do I take him seriously that he said that? And then someone else said it.
Starting point is 00:13:49 I think it was Mark Giordano who is very much the opposite of Michael Bunting. right and pretty serious straightforward it's very serious i i told you that that means it's true doesn't it you know when he says it yeah and so tavaris comes in and i go do you have a kombucha keg and he's like yeah no that's true he has it in his house now let me ask you this do you think that he finds anything funny about that uh because it's a little funny a little embarrassed was he embarrassed slightly i mean he loves kombucha i wouldn't be embarrassed i'd be like hell yeah i got a kombucha i'm john tavar so i can do what i want what is the point of having 77 million dollars like you're not just like what do you do with all that money oh i just
Starting point is 00:14:35 i buy all organic fruits no no no you gotta buy some silly things we already know he shovels his driveway he doesn't have the heated one like mcdavid so what do you do you get your favorite drink on tap absolutely on tap if i had 77 million dollars i would do the same thing why not why not i wondered though um i know there are companies that go in and clean bar taps and the reason you get really bad hangovers from pints is the bar that you're going to doesn't clean their taps a lot of those a lot of those people that you know like you don't want to know how the sausage is made they they will tell you that you don't want to know how bad some of the taps they're seeing are and i'm wondering with kombucha i don't know if it's sugar in it but it's fermented
Starting point is 00:15:19 so i'm wondering how like you'd probably have to clean those taps yeah but he has 77 million who's you he's got 77 million dollars he's doing his own driveway i'm sure he's doing his own taps too kombucha tap company comes in and which and you've never heard of it because you don't have 77 million dollars and neither do we so they come in and they clean it and they say here you go john and he says thank you i'll give you your money for your services and they say yep yeah but the blackhawks could have just as easily done dk1k yeah and we wouldn't have been like lol dick but they chose lol dick yeah jt1k it's perfect part of me wonders if they were they were sort of feeling themselves at that point i wonder if i wonder if they did that on purpose
Starting point is 00:16:08 now and probably now they wouldn't do that they should have had shirts that said big d1k energy absolutely and and absolutely and just completely straight no sold it no it's because duncan keith he brings that big energy that's right and everyone would have bought it and just have these big dick energy shirts at blackhawks games and now they don't have it um now they don't we didn't miss for the for the parts of the game that we did miss on friday the leafs laid an egg it was terrible ottawa always plays them hard and usually beats them i don't know why yeah that's that's a rare game where i go yeah it makes sense you played like shit though yeah yeah like with the the murray thing that was very confusing i still have a shaky grasp of exactly when they
Starting point is 00:16:56 found out so that was kind of the main controversy to even talk about from friday night which is matt marie ankle injury yeah but he was sitting on the bench but if sam sonoff had gotten injured they would have gone to an e-bug which i don't even know if that's allowed i don't even know if that's so the rules with e-bugs i don't know if they've changed it but i want to say oh god who was it i think it was the was it the panthers someone tried to put in an e-bug to do what the oilers did just give him a shot as a cool gesture and we are gonna talk about that later on too oh okay um and they weren't allowed so the oilers were i think that's very interesting but we'll move on to that but if your other goalie is on the bench i don't think you're allowed to just
Starting point is 00:17:46 be like oh we'll throw in the e-bug i mean you can try it's okay that the leaf said that i'm curious what the league said i wonder if anyone reached out and said yeah no i don't know before the game like on and during the entire game everybody was blaming william neilander for injuring matt murray i was getting ready to go off steve was about to go off on poor willie because this is the second time he's done that he didn't do anything so it's not the second time he did anything he didn't do anything he did sting murray high okay so he shot a puck in uh pregame warm-ups that was a little high on matt murray yeah and it had nothing to do with anything but then like after taking a few minutes i'm like that took him out no like that took him out of commission
Starting point is 00:18:28 it had nothing to do with anything but during the entire three hours that the game was happening everybody on twitter went with this narrative that willie injured matt murray in pre-game warm-ups and he took him out with this high shot and warm-ups and then after the game sheldon keeps like no that had nothing to do with anything well we'll give you more an explanation once we know what matt murray's out actually out with right and and it's not like we could tell twitter to wait for an explanation on anything as we saw this weekend with Zgris but I think
Starting point is 00:18:58 I think that there is a I think yeah it's sort of like you can only go with what you're told and I think if you're least PR maybe maybe monitor that and then just dispel it in the middle of the game that's actually that is a
Starting point is 00:19:14 fascinating point Adam because that is fully within their power it's easy to do that you can observe it and you're all thinking oh yeah send a call send an email no walk two booths down the hall where all the reporters are in the press gondola yeah they're all they're right there if i'm if i'm brandon shanahan i'm looking at who's the guy that does pr for them steve keogh yeah i'd be like steve can you just nix this one because it's making because willie's having an insane year i think
Starting point is 00:19:42 by the way i i read a an article from kevin pepetti this morning of the 50 something games that they've played willie has been one of the three stars 18 times wow which is unbelievable he's having the best season of his career can we not have this floating around during a bad game anyway also the uh one of the three stars of the week this week well second star after claude good for him he's having an unbelievable right now i just got the pr so very cool so anyway yeah they could do that but whatever i guess they didn't need to um they really could have and it would have saved a lot of headache well it would have saved a lot of tweets that now in retrospect it's like okay well we i guess we just didn't know they also might not have known
Starting point is 00:20:18 yeah sure but like no it's okay because like people jumping to crazy conclusions being like oh matt murray's soft he can't take a shot off the mask right all that stuff it's like yes chill out you don't know what happened yes yes um matt murray has had worse bruises this week than you've ever had in your life calm down um john tavaris tallied two assists and became the second player in Leafs history we're going to the other game now we're going to oh sorry yeah sorry yeah I guess we want to finish up with the Senators oh first game without Matthews your starting goalies uh completely unprepared and Justin Hall just happened to have the worst game of the season yeah boy did he not have a great game it was pretty good yeah I was just looking to do that
Starting point is 00:21:01 LFR and and chalk that game up as a write-off I watched some of the highlights back I'm like holy shit this guy was horrible yeah he was really bad that's the thing with the duality of justin hall is that he when he's good he's fine but when he's bad he's unusable so the thing is is like on on with defensemen you really if they're having a bad night you want to be able to reduce their their time but you do need them to play yes justin hall has a little bit of what you called years ago the brian mccabe syndrome which is what which is where he's fine 95 of the time and when he makes a mistake he makes it a good one it's front page news yeah like he just there's just a shift or two every game where he's like oh and he like has no idea what a hockey
Starting point is 00:21:46 stick is it's it's it's like if for two shifts in any given game a wizard replaces him in his body with someone else who's never used it before and then transports them back and they're fine it's truly bizarre like just a couple of those decisions that he made but did he set a pick in game seven god damn it that was one of the most disappointing moments of my entire life we were there man it was horrible horrible we celebrated the goal oh my god it was horrible Prior to John Tavares, who was the last team captain to have a goal disallowed in game seven of a Stanley Cup final playoff series? That's a question. That is your homework today.
Starting point is 00:22:38 Sportsnet stats, I'm sure. Someone's going to have the nerd. You want it specifically a team captain? Yes, because it means more. Yeah, okay. Now, speaking of team captain, John Tavares played his 1,000th game last night. The Leafs looked way better against Washington, especially after the first period. they seem to be like no this is our game now they were i thought they were still the better team in
Starting point is 00:22:58 the first to be honest certainly but a little bit more of a um don't you start i know it was a little bit more of uh um i thought it was a little bit more of like a grappling match in the first period there was a little push a little pull whatever cap score first i think yes and yeah so but tavaris uh tallied two assists became the second player in leaf's franchise history to record multiple points while skating in his 1,000th NHL game. Steve, who did he join? That guy
Starting point is 00:23:28 right there, Tim Horton. That's right. Who also had to assist on November 19th, what year? 1967. Ah! I was watching the broadcast. Yeah. I know, but some people may have missed that. I thought it was interesting. I was locked in. I was dialed.
Starting point is 00:23:43 I got everything. By the way, talking about guys who can just walk into the broadcast booth. with uh with a correction yeah wayne gretzky could have just walked right in and been like by the way it's his ankle i don't know he apparently interrupted both broadcasts unannounced he just showed up and was like can i come on and if you're if you're broadcasting the game yeah wait and come on yeah it was an adventure i enjoyed listening to that yeah i mean i know wayne never really says much right you have to i know not everyone like that wasn't for everyone
Starting point is 00:24:18 you must as an artifact of hockey history allow wayne gretzky into your broadcast booth whenever he's willing during an alexander ovechkin game because what if ovi scores while he's on the mic then all of a sudden you're the most brilliant producer and brilliant host and as an artifact of hockey history you have to have and so they asked him about that the goal right they asked the fuck yeah and joey anderson misses one and well they asked the closest there was and they said uh and wayne said it would be great for the game and i saw a really funny tweet like caps fans wayne could be the nicest guy about it caps fans are like i live in your walls wayne we're coming for you i uh i i have that it's actually very funny tweet gretzky could say
Starting point is 00:25:05 the nicest most sincere thing about ovi and how he wants him to break his record and when ovi scores caps fans will still go fuck you gretzky i'm in your walls i hope you're pissing and crying old man that is from uh no vechkin i feel bad for cast fans right now for the team because like dylan strome first line center that's somebody you healthy scratch like three weeks ago you know and just all the injuries they've had to deal with this season it's a miracle they're in a playoff spot their goaltending also sticks and their goaltending has stunk for a little bit here not very good but they're they're playing really hard like the fact that they're in a playoff spot is it's very commendable for this team and they're gonna have to play carolina or boston
Starting point is 00:25:45 And it's funny, those two teams with, you know, over 700 man games lost, the Leafs and the Caps, over 700 man games lost injury this year. The Leafs being first was wild. The Leafs, sir, that's a little wonky. You're counting Karl Dahlstrom? Yeah. Also, Muzzin shouldn't count.
Starting point is 00:26:01 He should absolutely count. Muzzin was injured in June when we didn't trade him. Yeah, I know. And then he played. The Leafs went forward like he was going to play. Karl Dahlstrom doesn't count your man games. That's 82 man games on day one Dahlstrom's wonky
Starting point is 00:26:17 Steve Tredomus Yes Why am I at Tredomus Now Nostradamus was most famously Known for making a bunch of predictions that people swear are true Including saying that somebody Would come along in this century Somebody named Hister and would come along
Starting point is 00:26:33 And cause a bunch of shit and start a bunch of wars Hitler being the guy that people think he meant We're waiting for Mobus That's the new one I went through i think all teenagers went through a nostradamus phase oh yeah unless you had a girlfriend then you probably skipped it but i didn't you guys never do the stuff about the mayans oh and how they predicted the calendar was supposed to end right yeah the world and then they made that
Starting point is 00:26:57 terrible steve or what is like that cute john cusack movie oh my god you gotta stop i knocked my coffee over but it's empty that shit it's oh my god you almost wrecked a felix pop fan card and we're not even gonna get in that yet yeah the mayans are supposed to end the world yeah that was that you know it's like maybe they just stopped carving shit into walls at that point guys like i don't know maybe they were like we let's build another building before we carve more of this shit the mayans killed coney ah is that what happened 2012 yeah i killed him that was a wild story but one day that needs to be revisited as a documentary how is that not a netflix documentary isn't it it's not what happened in 2012 not just coney but the guy that launched
Starting point is 00:27:34 the campaign that came campaign went supernova and then it like a couple weeks later like he crack it was crazy oh yeah he was like on meth or something i don't know bath salts that was his bath salts yeah it was like and he was naked on the street yeah on basketball in san diego yeah they made a whole south park episode yeah that's how i know it with it with it with a song catchier than it had any business yes they do that jackety jackety um the leafs steve tradomas to get back to steve tradomas no you don't want that song anymore i no a couple weeks ago a couple weeks ago steve said i bet they bring up joseph wall who had won at that point i believe 10 games in a row and hadn't lost uh at all that's not how that works
Starting point is 00:28:20 how did it work it's a goalie got injured and and jesse was like why would they do that why wouldn't you have open water around a mixing board idiot i said that's only gonna happen if we only if we only have one goalie they gotta bring up another one and guess what you were saying that thing happened the vision the vision the vision's back i think my argument was that it doesn't make sense when you have two healthy starting goalies why would you healthy scratch one and run three goaltenders and bring up joseph wall i just jesse didn't predict shit just like nostradamus your your mind is sounding very mundane right now and I need you to allow yourself to see the supernatural as I have.
Starting point is 00:29:05 You are the Mayans. I am the Mayans. So Joseph Wall's up. Bobby McMahon's been loaned to the Marlies. TJ Brody activated from injured reserve, which is great. It seems like with TJ Brody, by the way, that they've taken as much time as possible with this because they're fine. This is the second time this season he's come back later than expected.
Starting point is 00:29:23 Yeah, because he's been practicing for like two weeks. And they're like, yeah. It probably also helps the cap. Like you have enough defensemen that can just hold fort, like hold them out for a little. he wasn't on ltir i don't think it affects anything no because you accrue cap daily right yeah but he wasn't it only so he's on ir yeah you're just too bad you're still accruing it daily okay wow that's weird by the way yeah if you're on ir you're on but anyway i think ir is
Starting point is 00:29:51 so you can call someone up oh okay so so uh one thing by the way the cj show which i listened to on the way up on friday last week was spectacular like thursdays especially all the trades that you can imagine um today they're gonna have another one as well and it this is the this is the cj show's time to shine this and they know oh they know they're they're they are anyway one of the things that cj talked about was uh the cap space that the leafs have because they you know julian's like hey nobody cares about this team but what are the leafs gonna do and um cj said that he got it a little bit wrong i'm looking at our group chat and he said uh he said i was a little off on our last episode they can add the leafs can add three million in salary right now at the deadline
Starting point is 00:30:32 so that's a six million dollar player at 50 retained or adding as much as 12 million twice retained at 50 yeah now that is incredibly unlikely like let's say there's a player with 12 million you got to find a team willing to retain six mil and then another one willing to retain three but if they're on expiring deal doesn't seem so hard exactly but the uh also the big fish this year meyer i believe he's around six maybe exactly six horvat is under six five two five is it's five something five five five five yeah um so basically the leafs have pretty much exactly enough to go out and get one of the big fish but that's that's the problem though right one exactly one uh of them uh is that enough do we want them to go get a forward
Starting point is 00:31:24 and that's it well the boston bruins have lost three straight games and the leafs are still 11 points behind them so you're you're definitely for sure playing tampa last night i don't know what you could get that is enough but i do know this yeah nobody the equivalent of vasilevsky or headman is available so you may as well bolster what you're already good at which is score and stuff and you might want to get more physical timo meyer fits that bill he fits that bill pretty well and man i talked about this a little bit in the video like all those all those points all those points dropped to the crappy teams like i know it's no use crying over spilt milk but boston is gonna have to play like boston has a really good shot at playing the team you just
Starting point is 00:32:12 killed at washington washington yeah yeah right whereas best case scenario i'm you you have home ice over tampa like that's best case at this point if you pass boston then maybe you get a shot and there's still time there's quite a bit of time they'd have to lose a lot yeah you have to win a lot well morgan riley's about to go on a heater so well yes he's he's on pace for two goals this here scored his first yeah all thanks to easter seals so what's the deal with that so uh the leafs uh very rarely get a saturday off but when they do they do their easter seal skate
Starting point is 00:32:54 where you raise money and you get to skate with the leafs and interact with them and it's great and it raises uh money for easter seals which is near and dear to my heart and supposedly morgan riley you know you're skating around you're on the leafs you're one of the best teams in the league you're having a good time the kids just go so when are you going to score a goal kids man they don't care kids do not care and then he scored wow so now he doesn't have to
Starting point is 00:33:25 get tripped by can i tell you a quick story about how kids don't care tell me got everly out of the uh the bath the other day and uh you know if i were to say you know there's there's days where i don't mind the way i look and then there's days where i go man i i have put on weight and um and uh and i was having a good day and i got out uh i got her out of the bath and she said daddy you have a big tummy and then and then and then get this she started smacking it and going daddy has a big tummy daddy has a big and i was like i know that your child but you're really breaking my heart right now kids they don't give a fuck no they don't care leo will be sitting there having a delightful conversation and out of nowhere he'll just go a little bit quiet
Starting point is 00:34:11 grab his bowl and go yeet and just fucking pasta everywhere red sauce everywhere and like you can barely even get him in trouble right he's two yes well how could you what how could you you gotta you gotta straddle the line between okay you're not allowed to accost this child and also you need to convey the message that you're not allowed to do that it's uh yeah it's very difficult i really did go through a phase two where she was like i'm done with dinner i'm going to throw it on the floor now um oh yeah and that was a problem so uh we corrected that because i have dogs ked well yeah can they eat the food well sure they they can i try not to let them do it too too much oh iggy just eat it all vacuum yeah 80 pound dog eat it
Starting point is 00:34:56 all oh yeah i guess eat it all bud with the with the playoff situation you're talking about boston possibly playing washington yeah we gotta watch out for buffalo buffalo's i think is gonna get one of those two wildcard spots he's gonna bump out washington or pittsburgh florida's not looking so bad florida they're okay they're okay i'm more on i think buffalo's a better team yeah great comeback win the other night though um like i don't have faith in the islanders because they can't score so unless lou's willing to do something i don't know but like buffalo to me is charging up and and they're gonna take one of those two wildcard spots away from one of those teams i did um read somewhere and i can't remember where it was like lou is only going to add um if
Starting point is 00:35:38 he thinks the aisles have a chance to win and i think i said that in a video as well and then i thought about it and that is not true it's simply not true well did he get brian boyle because he thought the leafs had a chance to win i think he did he did the brian boyle deal to reward them for a really good year right then what about thomas mccann it's the next year i don't know what that was i feel like they felt like they needed to get something sure so you spend a second and two prospects and thomas buchanan's like i don't know they weren't good prospects no i think he's just that we gotta stop talking about lou like he's not just some other gm he won gm of the year oh yeah so many times i see uh they have in all the years he didn't win the cup which is really
Starting point is 00:36:20 the gm of the year award as jeff merrick likes to point out i see they have back-to-back wins which Which has got to be the first time in a long time. They're 3-5-2 in their last 10. Jesus. Yeah, not great. That point differential for Buffalo. Look at that. Plus 20.
Starting point is 00:36:37 Wow. Goal differential. Sorry. Goal differential. Wow. And losing record at home. Someone please explain. They're 15-7-2 on the road.
Starting point is 00:36:47 Wow. That has to be the best road record of any non-playoff team right now. Has to be. Oh, yeah. By the way, LA is now the top team in their division With a negative goal differential They have been all year Like, did they lose 8-0 three straight games
Starting point is 00:37:02 In October? LA is not the top team in the division Or they were, for like a minute this weekend The Seattle Kraken But they're only one point back Yeah, they were this weekend They're third At one point this weekend, they were first
Starting point is 00:37:17 For like an hour For an hour But it was cool, it was a cool stat no it was cool no okay is seattle gonna fall off seattle climbs the standings ah i see well uh yep yep um it's a quite relevant of them anyway listen i it was sort of the duality of the leafs they they played the shitty senator shitty and the shitty senators walked them and they played the pretty a little bit better caps and the a little bit better caps just didn't match them they're way better yeah they're way better they're better they're battling i don't but you're not so
Starting point is 00:37:53 it's funny again with a loss like that to ottawa you're you're like ah but it was the boston loss that really got you because they could have won it and they blew it with a mistake if boston had taken it from them i'd be like ah you know fair play but they gave it to him fair enough wednesday doesn't feel the same uh what do you mean in that we're going into the all-star break are we all and matthews isn't there it's no tremendously different vibe um listen you try to win you try to take the two points and they're and they're obviously on a skid too so you want to take advantage of that yes yes but it doesn't feel like saturday night in boston two teams going at full strength no playoff game it doesn't feel like that no the previous game felt like a
Starting point is 00:38:37 measuring stick game this game feels like uh everyone's thinking about their flight that's what i'm trying to get yeah the leafs always play like shit on that last game before they all start anyway i was oh man i was really concerned about the caps game yeah like man there's every excuse to just play like absolute dog shit heading into the break they were great and nope they were great so will they win wednesday i don't know i think they're gonna play fine what's interesting about the leafs lineup right now too is there's a lot of guys in there because of injury who are fighting to stay in once the injuries come up and so that has to not that the stars aren't motivated they are but that has to be that extra little bit of
Starting point is 00:39:15 push too that gives you that intensity and that's got to be and that's more than a couple of guys because they've had a lot of injury pontus holmberg lost his spot so fast yeah him in the second line center thing didn't work so fast i said that on friday i was like pontus holberg's second line center this isn't gonna go well and then one game later it's kerfoot like i don't Which isn't a great option either That's why I'm like let's go get Ryan O'Reilly But I don't know man He's not playing well and he's coming off a broken foot
Starting point is 00:39:45 Okay he's still Ryan O'Reilly Like it's still in there He's going to have a little bit of rest I mean we know he's not going to play at the All-Star game He like okay His role is Be better than David Kemp I also
Starting point is 00:40:01 What's it going to cost you What's it going to cost you It's going to cost you a lot It's going to cost you a fucking first round Playoff victory We did this dance with Nick Foligno That wasn't the guy I said it was a shit trade
Starting point is 00:40:15 You guys all called me crazy No I don't think we did The price was too much I think there's too much revisionist history though with Nick Foligno He fucked up his back I think I think he was a good addition I liked him
Starting point is 00:40:31 As an addition Fucked up his back and they paid too much and then they lost yeah no that wasn't good yeah and they lost it it was sad it wasn't even a good loss it was a sad loss like tampa that was a good loss that was a good loss i'll take it each i'll take it just oh yeah get that tampa wasn't a shake line it was a better it was a better loss than montreal it was better way better better but not good ah i didn't have to do a giant soliloquy on the way out because I had to
Starting point is 00:41:01 stream both games. And just game seven, I showed up and I'm like, all right, let's take our execution. That could not have been your attitude with Montreal or with Tampa? With Montreal. Montreal was awful. Okay, they're
Starting point is 00:41:19 going to either stem the tide or whatever the saying is. They're going to win this game or they're going to do what we all know they're gonna do different this year and then they did it so hard and then against tampa i'm like oh maybe and then it was maybe it was maybe the from puck drop in that montreal game they look so bad oh it's like this first five seconds i'm like yeah i was like oh they don't have it yeah this is awful they they rode carrie price like a pony and phil to know was unbelievable and he got a gigantic fat contract out of it
Starting point is 00:41:52 Good for him. Oh, well. Let's talk to Dave Bastl because Super Bowl bets are already on the board. Let's get into it. You can bet that with David Bastl. Brought to you by Sports Interaction. Get in the action and make a play. 19 plus.
Starting point is 00:42:09 Please play responsibly. All right. So, listen. Super Bowl is coming up. We're going to get to one of those Super Bowl Gatorade prop bets. I know, Steve. It's not a sport that you love too much. But it was a dramatic weekend.
Starting point is 00:42:21 No, Super Bowl is the one time of year where I might actually, like, win a bet. Okay, well... Because they have, like, silly things, like Gatorade and the anthem. We're going to get to that in just a second, Dave. But first, let's talk about Minute Madness, and you want to talk about it for hockey. And what is Minute Madness for people that don't know? Yeah, you know what? This was a really popular bet for the World Cup, and we're bringing it to hockey.
Starting point is 00:42:46 So basically what it is in a nutshell is it's similar to Keno where you select where you think goals are going to be scored in hockey games. So any hockey game, I say it to people that don't know much about it, is it makes every minute count, basically. So you're predicting on when goals are being scored. And if you hit it, your odds continue to increase. There was one ticket that hit six for six for a hundred grand. So there's some serious money. I'm not joking. I'm not joking. That's what the payout is for six goals. Now, you also have to predict six goals, Jess. So that's the tough part. But sometimes you have hunches about last minute of play in the first period or five minute mark or my favorite number is seven or anything like that. It's a little bit of a lottery, but it's a lottery that could really benefit you if you hit the right numbers.
Starting point is 00:43:38 Well every lottery is a little bit of a lottery right I hit a minute madness a couple weeks ago It was the Flyers Kings game And I hit like 10 minutes Into the first period And I got a minute madness Wow
Starting point is 00:43:52 That feels good It's like my cool take is right You know what's so interesting Is I didn't Dave what about what do we got going for the Superbowl? Cause we're already talking Superbowl and we obviously Steve mentioned it Gatorade.
Starting point is 00:44:11 Yeah. Gatorade prop. So, and you know, Steve also mentioned the national Anthem, probably the most popular type of prop that you can bet on the Superbowl guessing the over under on, on Anthem sung heads,
Starting point is 00:44:24 tails. There's a prop on that. And of course Gatorade, which is one of my favorites. So let me throw it out to you. The winning coach of whatever team decides to win this game, Eagles, Chiefs,
Starting point is 00:44:34 You get dumped on with Gatorade. What color is the Gatorade predictions go? Well, I think the Chiefs have got to win. And if the Chiefs win, wouldn't you expect it to be a Chief-like color? So it would be red. I'd say Chiefs red, Eagles blue. Even though they're a green team? Yes.
Starting point is 00:44:55 Okay. I was going to say, does it correspond to the jersey color? Because it's like, you know, my favorite Gatorade is blue. But none of these jerseys are blue Is that what the team likes You know what I mean The other one is the green lemon lime So by the way orange is the favorite
Starting point is 00:45:12 Orange is the favorite at sports Interesting I would go with clear It's been clear before I think it was clear last year And I think it's just it's so baseline You know because I feel like Most of the NFL players don't want the
Starting point is 00:45:28 The dye in their Drink So it's easier If you're getting A professional athlete To drink something Sugary like Gatorade It's the clear one
Starting point is 00:45:36 Right That's just kind of My life It's so funny The guy filling up The Gatorade Before the game Must be like
Starting point is 00:45:41 There's millions Of dollars Right Whose job is this Just throwing the powder In right Like it's crazy You know what else
Starting point is 00:45:49 Is fascinating By the way clear Go ahead yeah Clear is five to one Five to one Really good odds So the interesting Thing with the anthem
Starting point is 00:45:56 Is that each and every year They do like a rehearsal And if they're singing To a track then it gets leaked so sometimes they got to pull that bet so i'm hoping this year they they rehearse the anthem in a bubble somewhere and like two people see it and that's it and then they because i love betting on the do we know who's singing the anthem uh chris stapleton he's a country music singer i don't know much about him maybe you guys might know more about him but
Starting point is 00:46:19 uh and i've been told he likes to show off with the final note you know you know what that means 30 second rave you can check it all out at sportsinteraction.com just look at the QR code on this episode you can see it right there Dave thanks so much for your time as always
Starting point is 00:46:40 and we will see you Wednesday sir thanks fellas Trevor Zegers wow when I say Trevor Zegers pre this weekend what emotions are elicited what things come to mind gentlemen
Starting point is 00:46:55 Bad guy No, before this weekend, Jesse Milk Bones, because he's a golden retriever He's like a puppy, right? Yeah, and he's cover of the video game with Sarah Nurse Gets all excited When company comes over
Starting point is 00:47:11 And he licks them And he scored a crazy goal last year He's on the doormat because he's so excited He's a golden retriever So what happened at the game is First off, it's the Ducks-Coyotes in a battle of Who's more depressing Who won?
Starting point is 00:47:25 Who knows who won the game Doesn't matter Neither team is trying anyway Who won that's the team who lost That's exactly it The game ended 2-1 in overtime For the Anaheim Ducks I know cause
Starting point is 00:47:42 Did you make a bet on it No I have Zgris and Troy Terry On my fantasy team and one of them scored the OT winner I forget which one So I got a game winning goal plus a goal I was about to say Man I like to sprinkle but no i wasn't even two dollars on that game this comes from the guy adam do you know this
Starting point is 00:48:05 no i don't know steve not watching middle of the night bet on the australian open and he's telling me not to bet on a hockey game yeah i could win an easy 40 cents do you know the tennis players you bet on absolutely not do you remember their names no i did it twice and have not done it don't throw stones in your glass house you know what that's fair that's true that's absolutely thank you that's absolutely or in in stuck to two dollars case you're glass full of water um so so trevor's egress before this weekend universally liked seem to be the ducks kind of main hope until conor bedard shows up if he shows up yeah remember they're not tanking though nhl teams don't do that according to tame usulani um so then there's
Starting point is 00:48:56 an incident and the incident is uh zegras and uh troy stetcher troy stetcher get into it and uh they're yapping and they're everybody's grabbing a guy grabbing the i'm gonna the big old nhl collar grab i'm gonna grab your collar i'm gonna hold you back and i'm gonna hug you yeah i'm gonna do a bunch of that and then everybody's gonna be like i'm gonna hug you until it's not bad anymore and then i'm gonna let you go and the refs tell you to cool it but but zegras and stature they keep going to keep john beacon chatting stature was sort of the third man in yeah takes off zegras's helmet and i think what might have got zegras so hot is i was like i wonder because zegras has that long hair or not even long but it's adam wilde style hair i wonder if he got a
Starting point is 00:49:43 few locks yanked and that made him upset so he said something untoward to troy stetcher right and and then what happens is um he gets zegras gets a 10-minute misconduct but not for an incident against stature according to the nhl really they said it was the other play which was some sort of cross check or hit or something really yeah you also get five minutes for cross checking no but he did get a 10 minute misconduct and so he got a misconduct for do you have it up well i'm gonna pull i'll pull up the box score right sorry i have a hard time believing that so uh i'll pull up the box score but my internet is as usual slow uh somebody by the way said uh said to me it was actually lauren uh lauren williamson from game over toronto said she she lived in she lived in
Starting point is 00:50:35 my area for years and she said uh don't worry the internet's always bad and i said great there's no way to correct and she said no we tried everything and i said great well i'm moving soon so that'll be great um so let's pull this game up here my internet just got good did it yeah finally moved to durham region and that's where the internet's good that's where the internet's good i'm pulling up the box score right here on sportsnet.ca Now, this heated discussion kind of really took over the game
Starting point is 00:51:02 and I'm going to look at the penalty summary. 10 minutes, Zegers for misconduct. But is there anything associated with it? No. Okay. So along with him, Adam Henrique got a 2 minutes for a high stick. Zegers got 2 minutes for roughing.
Starting point is 00:51:18 Then he got a 10 minute misconduct. And then Barrett Hayton also from the Coyotes got something so stature got nothing so that's usually a 2 and 10 is not unheard of that's just usually reserved for like chill the fuck out yeah like the end of the game or i suppose the end of a period or something you just want to get control of but this is at 13 37 in the second period right so decidedly not the end of a period and not the end of a game yeah so he continued to play after this yeah yeah he came out of the box and he played the rest of the game for the goal
Starting point is 00:51:49 too it was clearly something that came from the scrum right they uh yeah he scored the ot winner we've been through this oh my bad yeah sorry we're all over the place i'm not 100 um but yeah it's the misconduct came out of that scrum and people are be honest people were asking about well he must have said something to get a 10 minute misconduct so then the camera was because the cameras are so good now you can zoom in on the player so there was a bunch of people that lifted that from the feed put it on twitter and started guessing what they thought he said and there was a point too where um zegras is like waving his finger in the air so the worst case scenario here is what became the story so i'm only i only want to repeat this because it's the worst
Starting point is 00:52:36 case scenario and it's since been denied and i want to be clear about that so what were people saying well so this is all over twitter i'm sure most of you have seen this by now and if you're not on twitter you haven't seen it in which case good for you um but people are saying uh i think it's the coyote's dad's trip or something um but uh zegras basically said like careful your parents are watching now the reason stetcher would be so upset about that is his dad passed in 2020 so people on father's day due to complications of diabetes oh my god okay i didn't know that holy my god yeah um so what people are saying is zegras knowing that said that to get stetcher's goat and my thing since i heard that accusation listen if it's
Starting point is 00:53:29 true it's true but that is wild like that that is like you need to appreciate how serious of an accusation that is and if it ends up being true i'm sure i'll get dunked on whatever i don't care but you need to be sure of that before you staple that letter on someone well and and and and i think you know a lot of people said oh i can see him saying that as though there was a lot of like what is that a lot of fantasy lip readers on twitter and i think it's important it's important that you know i understand speculation and we speculate on things and we comment on things and twitter and stuff like that but it almost became where you had legitimate reporters going in and going yep sure looks like that to me and it reminds us as toronto fans let's make it about
Starting point is 00:54:17 the leafs of the morgan riley situation where he said famously on mike uh you know one of those mics hanging down on the ice ragged as in rag the pot yeah i was at that game so i didn't know the controversy was even happening okay and then on my train i'm like morgan riley did what but it sounded like the words that that rhymes with ragged which i'm not going to repeat yeah and so uh craig morgan afterwards through the coyotes and why would the coyotes lie about this um uh that uh he said that that you know what what people had said and i'm gonna bring it up here uh was not true uh but that something was that i can confirm via the coyotes that anaheim forward trevor ziegers did not say anything about troy stetcher's father during the dust up last night
Starting point is 00:55:01 But per a team source He crossed the line with some very inappropriate comments Stetra has declined To comment on the topic It was I don't understand People's like Passion to
Starting point is 00:55:17 Jump at all of Like jump at Zgris and be like He said this based on What I'm seeing in this one clip Like why are you so quick To just say oh he definitely Said this thing about his dad what's the motivation i don't know and like if he did say something let's say homophobic for example
Starting point is 00:55:38 he would be punished for that but by the way yeah there's procedures for that uh andrew shaw i want to say was suspended i think it was a playoff game um for saying something saying something stetcher also has no obligation to protect zegras if he did say something awful Like I think Stetcher would say that Zegers said something awful Yeah so like I I guess I mean NHL teams do on the other Side of that they do sort of protect
Starting point is 00:56:07 Um but at the End of the day uh On this one I don't see why Stetcher would like That's one of those things that should be if he said That that's a punishable like yeah This is the coyotes have No motivation to protect the player on The ducks no like he's gonna come
Starting point is 00:56:22 Out and say what he said if it was if it's punishable yeah here i don't know by the way it is hockey and they make inappropriate comments all the time too and i'm not trying to say that because not all inappropriate comments are the same or wait at the same uh and yes you are going to cross the line you're going to see nhl players cross the line every single game so if you're expecting in a high in a high violence high contact sport that people aren't going to cross the line with the things they say they are yeah the reason but i'm not but i but i want to say this sure i think it's really important because there are still people today that believe he said what he said and i think
Starting point is 00:56:57 it's important that that we all acknowledge that we don't know right it's okay to not know yeah it's okay i'm not i'm not saying he did but i'm not saying he didn't why can't we all be unsure of anything he said why can't we just all say hey i don't know what he said instead of being like so hey he definitely said this because i can see it on this twitter clip i know enough about this situation to confidently say if you did correctly guess what he said like at the end of all this uh you guessed correctly you didn't know you guessed correctly
Starting point is 00:57:33 there's a big difference there's a talk about that's a very interesting point well i don't know you lip read correctly this is what i think he's saying yeah and that's it but like we've seen this a million times and the nhl is not gonna suspend someone or find someone from lip reading and there are examples of this um i don't know i don't know how to feel about this there's
Starting point is 00:57:57 a reason i'm fizzling right now i can't i don't know what was said here's what i'll say i can't fault you for going for assuming the worst given what we've come given what we've seen from some nhl teams uh in the last 18 to you know 24 months i i get it i totally understand it i suppose um i don't know however what what people were doing was that where they were saying trevor's trevor zegras definitely said this therefore i don't like trevor zegras anymore or therefore he's a bad person and then and then when craig morgan did come out with the report they're like well he obviously said something that i wouldn't like so i still hate him that is awful to do to someone and we don't know you could have a question mark an asterisk whatever be like i'm suspicious of
Starting point is 00:58:38 trevor zegras but to be like well i'm writing them off guys yeah we've all said shit in anger that we regret and that we should never have said yeah and and obviously if it was if it was something that was horrible and bad believe me nhl head office knows what he said yeah they felt if i could guarantee a gary and bill now and if they felt like they need to make an example of this guy they would um you're forgetting the interesting wrinkle of brad marshand oh yeah well i was saving that till later because i wanted to oh he just said really it's but it's this story i know but i was saving it till the end because it's sort of like a humorous angle my bad um and i think i like so that so brad marshand tweeted at craig margan and and said shut your
Starting point is 00:59:24 pie hole uh craig i have no idea what prompted that where that came from i think he's just joking and i think they know each other reporters know players that go around the league and stuff like that for sure i've always known craig as a coyotes reporter i don't know if he did work in boston i don't know well it's not like boston hasn't come to town impossible you know and that's the thing as i think he's just trying to bring light to a situation maybe and maybe it was ill-timed but whatever i don't i don't know man i just i do have a bit of a thing where and i can understand why people do it let's not let's not go there i don't i'll be i'll be honest here my bias is i don't want to be mad and i don't want to be disappointed i don't want to know i do want to know but i don't
Starting point is 01:00:09 want these people to be bad people i do want to know when when they're doing when they're doing shitty things um and i don't think necessarily one comment makes you a bad person it just means you fucked up multiple actions usually necessitate that it's a personality trait and that's the other problem that bothered me is that it's what has trevor zegras ever done before this other than b no no seriously yeah no so then so then one comment and you're done i met him once he was nice and that holds zero weight in my opinion right on this conversation like if he's listen there was a guy who was the guy on the canucks who was known for it uh chirping yeah um oh he's the assistant coach of the habs now burrows alex burrows like alex burrows legitimately said stuff
Starting point is 01:00:55 that was horrible well he he also and over and over and it was confirmed it's well you know i don't need to lip read to see you like snort ice shavings off of your stick right or or what he said to patrick o'sullivan yeah all that too which was about his dad yes and i so so it's not like we haven't seen this before but i'm just i just burroughs was uh in the way matt cook was a guy that did that they did that that's what they did we knew that i have never seen this from zegras before and i just i'm hesitant to go well fuck him now even if he was that guy you still that's such a wild thing to accuse someone of saying like it's a it's a monstrous thing he's being accused of saying and if he said it he deserves all the shit in the world we have no idea we have
Starting point is 01:01:49 no idea yeah yeah one way or the other so anyway if it seems like it the story dies here but uh but there you go it was uh it doesn't die you don't think so i think the story's done here i mean i hope so kind of what else is there stetcher won't talk about it zebras is not going to talk about it it dies here dies on the table no idea uh and you will not and here's the thing you have no idea and we will never we won't know until somebody comes out with it years down the road yeah i don't know i can't have a passionate opinion about this um i just don't know how about this can you have a passionate opinion about connor mcdavid tying steve eiserman seven straight years in a row uh seven straight years is all i needed to say there um first guy
Starting point is 01:02:31 since eisman have 90 points in seven years seven straight years wow and eisman did it from i think it was 85 to 93 and two of those seasons were cut short yeah wow yeah wow and and that's 90 points in 50 games oh my god that's so goofy like you almost it's like your brain can't especially us kids that grew up in the dead puck era. You can't function. Do you know how many goals Conor McDavid has right now? Probably 18. No. No. He's got a lot. Remember he said he's going to score
Starting point is 01:03:02 this year? 32. What's your guess? How many games has he played? 50. 26. It's 41 goals. What? I thought I was like trying to undercut because I didn't want to.
Starting point is 01:03:19 Damn, I didn't know it was like that bad. That's crazy. This is the problem with conor mcdavid is he's so good all the time that it he like it's like uploading too much content like mcdavid cannibalizes himself it's just every night there's no more better spent money than in hockey than going to see conor mcdavid there isn't he has 41 goals does he have more assists than goals? Yeah, he's got 51 assists. That's dumb. That's stupid. You mean to tell
Starting point is 01:03:54 me, like, five seconds after the All-Star break, he's going to hit 100? He's going to have 50 goals by, like, game 60. He's going to have, like, 50 goals on 120 points before the trade deadline? What was Matthew's last year? Exactly 6-0. Yeah, exactly 60.
Starting point is 01:04:10 McDavid probably passes that. I think so. Probably crushes it and it barely makes headlines. What's the modern record? What was Stamkos? No, it's Ovechkin, 65. 65. He could do it. Ovechkin, I want to say had...
Starting point is 01:04:24 Sorry, Stamkos, I want to say had 62 or 3. He's 2, I think. 65 is going to be close, but he can get there. I don't think it's going to be close. I think he'll crush it. 70? If he stays at this pace. 70?
Starting point is 01:04:38 Crushes it, yeah. I think he gets there. You think he's going to go to 70 goals? We should get Dave Bassel on the phone. I'm going to say, Dave, what can we do? I'm going to text him right now. 70 goals. Here, click.
Starting point is 01:04:47 I want to see his game log Like I want to see like is he heating up Or slowing down he's 41 and 50 He's 41 and 50 yeah Can he do 70 goals this year what's he got in his Last five last five uh He's got four goals in five games Come on
Starting point is 01:05:04 Points uh one two Three four five Six seven eight nine points In those five games He's shy of two a game He is shy of two that's just a mutant that's a mutant he every week he's in uh steve's hat picks and me and nick constantly have the conversation me and producer nick constantly have the conversation
Starting point is 01:05:28 of moving the goalposts for this guy like what he needs to do needs to be so herculean um like this it what he needs to do to get into a highlight pack needs to be noteworthy for connor mcdavid you know what i mean it can't just be noteworthy there are other guys who we get in there who were like ah they're probably never gonna do this again angvall had a great shot last night let's put that on end end throw it in yeah yeah you know throw this in throw that in mcdavid the you know when i was at sportsnet or started at sportsnet i should say uh they hammered the comment section of our youtube channel with enough of this mcdavid crap and i am here to tell you we did not inundate you with enough mcdavid crap we should be inundating
Starting point is 01:06:21 you with so much more mcdavid crap than we do there should be a mcdavid's hat pics once a week and then and everyone else why don't you just do that we should do it we should do it and it can be 10 minutes long yeah easily and sponsored by friggin is here's mcdonald's mcdavid thing or whatever there you go there's i'm coming up with content ideas right here no he is he's the best player in the world like it's and it's not particularly close there's been four games this season where he didn't record a point that's so stupid i can't believe there's four yeah He's 46 of 50 in recording a point Unbelievable
Starting point is 01:07:00 This guy and the way he did Like he's not whacking these things in He's turning teams inside Out He's straight up punching through Chests ripping out hearts And then passing it to like Kayla Yamamoto
Starting point is 01:07:17 Like for a goal Kyler my bad I don't know What's his shooting percentage um 19.6 percent that's pretty high but it's not even like his career offensively his career shooting percentage is 15.5 that's fucked right i need you to understand that's not normal right now in the four major sports there's no one that is the best by this margin than mcdavid is the best at hockey even even lebron yeah lebron's not the best player in basketball he played amazing
Starting point is 01:07:53 the other night every the loss they still suck but it doesn't make the best player basketball following basketball on tiktok hurts my heart because all the jokes about are just about how lebron is old and old as shit and still good and he's like three years older than us like that part sucks a great season but like yokich is probably the best player in the nba right now um but like he's not so much better than the next in line like he's not so much better than Embiid and Giannis, but McDavid to whoever you want to rank number two, McDavid's just so far and away
Starting point is 01:08:26 the number one. It's not even close. Well, and people rank Dreisaitl number two like, fucking, I got news for you. I'm sorry. Like, I know he's played amazingly with McDavid out of the lineup. Separate them. Like, trade him. Have him go to another team and see how they do.
Starting point is 01:08:42 McDavid is a mutant! And I'm not, listen, he might still be number two. You know, at worst case, top ten. He's a spectacular talent. No one's close to that guy. No one is close to McDavid. And maybe it's a Gretzky-Messier thing where McDavid is able to be so great
Starting point is 01:09:00 because he's got a guy like Dreisaitl. And I think that's probably true. Yeah, it's probably true. But I think if McDavid's on the Anaheim Ducks right now, he probably still has 92 points in 50 games. If not, he has more because he has to do more. They're not in the Bedard sweepstakes, that's for sure. if you gave mcdavid his regular defenseman his regular goalie but two wingers from the local
Starting point is 01:09:24 university in your town he finishes with 100 points like w bugs like yeah all right e yeah so like not not bums like these are competent hockey players but they're not professionals emergency backup wingers yeah no he'd get them both 20 goals like yeah which maybe this is why they criticized pull your army so much i also i also thought it was really cool because you know what um it's it's weird because within edmonton like mcdavid's a god but also when they don't win they're like he's also a bad leader and you get you start from time to time you get bad captain bad leader out of that yeah because the standard is gretzky well yeah so in toronto it's like well that's pretty great uh but you're right the standard is gretzky um and they also had messier
Starting point is 01:10:12 and they also had Shane Corson was a good, Doug Waite was a good captain Ryan Smith was a good captain. They named an entire trophy after Marc Messier because he won without Gretzky and people thought that was impossible Right. Now, but what I wanted to do here was get into this story Right, but like the Edmonton Oilers
Starting point is 01:10:28 might miss the playoffs. Agreed Which should tell you everything you need to know about the job Ken Holland is doing. Yep Dude, it's McDavid making at least five million dollars less than he should probably yeah whatever the max 15 is the max 16 what the fuck the max he should be making 25 million dollars i'd like to get into this story
Starting point is 01:10:53 though i was i set it up because people call mcdavid a bad captain but what i wanted to say was apparently at his behest the emergency backup goaltender went in with two minutes to go on saturday or was it saturday um it was saturday and the nhl schedule is stupid and they checked with jack campbell and campbell was like yeah that'd be great um and and jay woodcroft then had to clarify and say they meant no disrespect to the black hawks and then mark specter had to go and check with the hawks and the hawks said yeah we understand there's no disrespect meant there was just a cool moment for a guy and we were getting blown out uh but there's a bunch of people when he went in there's even a bunch of oilers fans four goal cushion with two and a
Starting point is 01:11:34 half to go there's a bunch of oilers fans who are like that no no player is going to want to come to our team if uh if they're going to like disrespect like that and i think they were talking specifically about tase and no but that those are the fans those are bad those are bad fans yeah no i just thought it was a really nobody's thinking like that like a cool moment it's a no player bad fan is going to want to come to our team that dominated so hard they let some random play goal as a nice gesture yeah shut up but i also want to say i think it's cool that mcdavid would even think about that the guy should be just you'd straight you think about a guy not not in a mean way but he's like focused on his shit but he was but but he saw this
Starting point is 01:12:13 emergency backup come in the guy was like studying for a psychology exam an hour before they called him and uh and he's like you know what just throw him in the game it'll be fun two minutes to go i think that's cool and i'm glad they allowed it to happen i again talked about this earlier i don't remember which team it was but they tried to do something like this i want to maybe it was the dallas stars they tried to put an e-bug in and they weren't allowed because your goalie needs to be hurt right right the it's the whole e thing in the bug so uh but the oilers were allowed to do it and you know why because it's cool who cares a couple of fun things about matt berlin the emergency backup goalie he's the one first fun thing he's the third string goalie at the
Starting point is 01:12:59 university of alberta wow they didn't even get the starting goalie at the u of a they got the third string goalie he signs the contract and him and stewart skinner are good buddies and stewart skinner is the one who got sick on saturday and couldn't back up to jack campbell so his his buddy goes down because they played hockey growing up so his buddy goes down says hey you're signing as the e-bug in edmonton he gets to go play for his buddies a professional nhl team gets into the game with uh two minutes i love that yeah i love that what a great fucking story mapperlin's hockey db is hilarious because it's like whl ajhl uh u of alberta nhl u of alberta i think that's cool yeah i love it it was a really sweet moment for uh for matt there on on saturday he's played
Starting point is 01:13:51 Five games behind The U of Alberta With an 8-9-2 There was also a chance he didn't get in At the end of the game because There's three minutes left, McDavid has the idea So then Jay Woodcroft goes over to Matt And he's like, what's wrong?
Starting point is 01:14:07 You're not going to believe who his teammate is at the U of Alberta Who? Jakin Smallwood The team's second leading scorer Jakin Smallwood Sorry, I couldn't hide my excitement when i just have a nice little career um so yeah mcdavid goes over with three minutes left and he gives the idea to woodcroft woodcroft goes over to matt and says hey you're going in the game
Starting point is 01:14:30 matt's like what are you talking about you're joking he's like no next whistle inside of if two minutes we're gonna put you in inside of three minutes or two minutes i forget we're putting you in the game so he's sitting there he's like i hope there's a whistle like if there's not a whistle i don't get into this game oh no so they get a whistle and he gets in the game he makes one save and they win it was a good little block yeah but a very aggressive blocker safe like he was like i am gonna save this he was so nervous like who was that like who took the shot i don't know i don't know but i it was it was very cool like very and and what a what an amazing night and you know you get two minutes in the nhl it's better than 99.9 of people oh good for him that's awesome think you
Starting point is 01:15:10 know which way it's gonna go make your bet at sports interaction thank you we're on the road to the Super Bowl and Sports Interaction as you've covered pregame, live betting on all major sports and prop bets if you want to bet. Prop bets are our favorite.
Starting point is 01:15:22 Head to sportsinteraction.com slash sdpn. 19 plus, please play responsibly. CJ here, along with Julian McKenzie. If you can't get enough hockey, the Chris Johnson Show
Starting point is 01:15:32 is everything you need to know to stay up to date on the latest news and analysis. Chris and I are excited to provide in-depth conversations, expert insights, and a healthy dose of hockey banter.
Starting point is 01:15:44 i love some nonsense too julian don't miss an episode of the chris johnson show it's available every monday and thursday on your favorite podcast platform see you there and peace uh the new york rangers made a lot of headlines um this weekend for the pride night celebration or lack thereof now uh they have the rangers and i'm quoting directly from molly walker from the new york post and molly does uh great work in tandem with larry brooks there and um here's the lead on on her story on it by veering from their promoted plan to wear pride themed jerseys for their annual pride night on friday at madison square garden the rangers turned what otherwise was a beautiful celebration of inclusivity into a story about the organization now it is a pr mess
Starting point is 01:16:32 um but essentially the rangers were supposed to wear pride themed warm-up jerseys and what they had done in the past is do that and wrap their sticks and then they auction it off afterwards with the money going to pride charities they have done this for seven straight years and nobody gave a shit right in terms of like nobody was like protesting it or mad or whatever yeah then the ivan proberoff thing happens on january 17th and the rangers said this our organization respects the lgbtq plus community and we are proud to bring attention to support local community organizations as a part of another great pride night in keeping with our organization's core values we support everyone's individual right to respectfully express their beliefs now the rangers
Starting point is 01:17:13 organization made a choice following suit with many other nhl teams that have made and this is according to molly harmful decisions in recent years the remainders would not acknowledge and took zero accountability and what i thought was interesting is she and larry brooks told sorry we're told by two separate players uh that there were no team discussions about the pride theme jerseys or tape beforehand. They did not know why they didn't wear them. The players don't know. Brooks also reached out to NHL's Deputy Commissioner and Chief Legal Officer Bill Daley to see if he had been advised not to proceed with their original Pride Night plans in the aftermath of ProVrov's refusal. Daley said no, he had not advised that,
Starting point is 01:17:56 and that each team is entitled to proceed how it sees fit. So if it wasn't the players, and I'm quoting directly here, and it wasn't the organization, then it appears the decision must have come from higher up in the rangers organization and they had broadway star michael james scott uh who is gay uh singing in a a beautiful rendition of the national anthem they had andre thomas who's the co-chair of nyc pride and heritage pride uh in the ceremonial puck drop uh fans received a pride themed fanny pack um and the pinwheel on the ceiling which is obviously very famous in madison square garden uh had pride themed colors all the colors were illuminated um but again and they are also going to make a charitable donation to the alley forney
Starting point is 01:18:38 center which is the new york-based agency dedicated to helping lgbtq plus homeless youths all that's great yeah sure all that's great but none of that was the focus no and i did i tell you or what you did you said this is going to be a thing oh yeah no the flyers are going to be the last ones the rangers wore warm-up jerseys designed by new york-based ecuadorian artist mar figueroa for hispanic heritage night on october 20th they wore camouflaged military theme warm-ups for november 13th for military appreciation night february 8th will be black heritage night and they'll probably this is again a quote they'll probably wear something special and warm up for that too and it's a shame pride night was treated differently so this appears to
Starting point is 01:19:24 be a potential theme in the nhl although i hope not um i think molly sums it up best and i encourage you to look up her piece on it and uh we shall see and good for her for not letting it go no she went right after them sorry we didn't talk about the game rangers made it a story yeah yeah they promoted a thing and then didn't do the thing why that's good work that's good work that's sorry you can't do that we're gonna do this thing we didn't do this thing immediately after a scandal about this thing and the interesting thing too we're gonna ask about it as a sports reporter it's weird because you're beholden to the organization have access to the players and do your job properly so a lot of sports reporters and you can see which markets
Starting point is 01:20:06 uh where they get a little bit um like a lot of teams are great about it right whatever weren't you you know you might hear from the general manager like brian burke openly spoke about how he would call reporters in vancouver and toronto if you know somebody shit talked his player and he thought it was unfair but he would just call and say it was unfair now the canucks i think are revoking access to certain reporters uh as we saw and um in this particular case right the new york rangers msg is a very very powerful organization in new york and i'm sure there's a lot of people not pleased that one of its biggest newspapers is running a story like that and molly went ahead and did it anyway so shout out to her for that um so anyway well we'll
Starting point is 01:20:47 see where this goes but again it's one of those things where the nhl i feel like eventually we'll get there but it just it seems like we're gonna get there kicking and screaming i hope so because the flyers have started uh trends i think i think go backwards if i honestly if i'm gonna be honest with you i think the trend started with the devil rays this year they had five players sit out pride night wouldn't wouldn't participate devil in baseball in baseball yeah oh i think that was the start of it yeah i've never heard of that and that was a big that was a big baseball story i think it was in august right we might have been on vacation or whatever but i'm reading about it and to me that was the first time that i can remember my memory sucked uh players actively going no i
Starting point is 01:21:28 will not participate in this and they all said the same thing ivan proveroff said which is i respect everybody blah blah blah great can't play tonight there's no there is nothing in any religion that says you can't put on a rainbow jersey and that's if you're wondering what the if you're wondering why people get upset about this it's like no like it putting on a rainbow jersey doesn't make you a part of the community it makes you an ally of the community if you respect the community and you respect that people have different beliefs then what's the problem right and that's where the question becomes sort of one of those unanswerable ones yeah people love conflating like the story that's going on here and making it about having the ability the freedom of choice you know having
Starting point is 01:22:09 the ability of free will but nobody's saying like you can't choose to do anything everybody's you can you can do whatever you want in this life like you can you can you can choose to go to the movie theater you can choose to drink oil you can choose you can choose to not participate in pride pride night but your actions are free to be interpreted so if you choose if if putting on a rainbow jersey is is so offensive to you and you choose not to do that i'm going to interpret those actions as you do not support the lgbtq2s plus community that is how i am interpreting your choice in the matter because you don't you don't choose to be gay like that they they didn't choose to be a part of that community and you do not support just who they are by showing just
Starting point is 01:23:05 allyship and putting on a jersey and saying you're hey you're welcome here hey your community has been uh downtrodden for a long time and you've had to fear uh uh violence and uh discrimination at a disproportionate rate and we just want you to know uh there's gonna be none of that here and you're welcome here oh no i can't i can't wear that and that's and that's if you have a problem if you were hosting spaghetti night at the steve dangle memorial arena and i said you know what i don't want to put on a jersey because i live a lifestyle i just don't have spaghetti in my life it's just not something how would you interpret that would you say oh jesse definitely likes spaghetti he doesn't want to wear the jersey no or would you say jesse probably doesn't like
Starting point is 01:23:53 spaghetti no jesse is just practicing his freedom to not eat spaghetti he's he's saying true to himself yeah you know you know uh i don't want to get stuck on this we did go at last we did go at it last now the logical conclusion is that i don't like spaghetti yes it is it is my i mean the conclusion i came to is proverov doesn't like spaghetti and someone very high up in the rangers organization doesn't like spaghetti right and i'm not talking about or at very least doesn't believe it's important enough to recognize and i think i think and we're not and i'm not talking about spaghetti here and i think this is like they were worried about a pr nightmare a la the philadelphia flyers they got one worse and the players are not to blame here uh they didn't get enough of one
Starting point is 01:24:38 you don't think um molly was leading the charge and she was kind of alone and it's really disappointing yeah there's been a lot of people who've ducked out of the conversation yes yes that's true not good you know what the conversation sucks and it's hard and you get a bunch of and i'm gonna guarantee you we're all gonna get a bunch of shitty dms after this i got horrible things said to me the last week i don't give a no no but fuck but i'm but steve let me finish it's not about caring i am not yeah i know but what i'm saying is imagine the people that are in these communities and what they get right you don't want to deal with it imagine what they have to deal with i know that's my point so we'll leave it there i'm so sorry you have to deal with
Starting point is 01:25:20 this yes i am yep uh alex 60 uh you know a guy who we've all worked with um if you grew up and you listen to sports in toronto alex 60 obviously brother of sid but also a extremely successful no sid's his brother yes that's true when i was an intern there i didn't know there was another sid or i didn't know there was another 60 yes and you're not from the toronto area yeah so alex alex is a very very successful reporter sportscaster in his own right and here's uh what he had to say today so we want to shout out because alex is a is has always been amazing to us i said you may have noticed that i've been away from twitter and off the air for several months i've been dealing with a health issue testicular cancer this thread is meant to highlight the
Starting point is 01:26:02 importance of taking care of yourself especially us men and he goes in to talk about um how he was diagnosed in 2022 um and kind of the whole i won't read the whole thread i encourage you to to reach out he said i couldn't have gotten through this without the without you thank you to my wife my kids my family for all the amazing support around this time and the special thanks to the incredible broadcasters who cover the desk while i was away i can't wait to return this afternoon so definitely just a reminder to uh guys alex is not an old man not much older than us if he's if he's not the same age go get checked phil kessel 19 yeah check your gear yeah check your gear um if something is odd and also consistently odd check your gear there's no stupid question to act to ask a doctor
Starting point is 01:26:52 there isn't they've heard it all yeah what's the dumbest one you got they've heard something something five times as dumb right and that question was also valid because you know every for every dumb question you get a uh perfectly logical answer to it just puts your mind at ease you know right so it's okay to go to the doctor for nothing it's okay it is okay it's okay to go to the doctor for that's what hopefully you go to the doctor for every time yeah nothing hey what's wrong with me nothing um if you go out and you find it out it's something that it was also a worthwhile trip to the doctor every trip to the doctor is worthwhile especially like in a country like canada where we have free health well yeah i'm speaking i mean from what what is that canadian
Starting point is 01:27:42 privilege oh yeah no i'm just saying like if you have the access to things like checking in with your family doctor do it take advantage of the system go to your doctor dude it was great when i went the other day i'm not feeling well and took a look and she's like i can see that here's some antibiotics here's a steroid for your throat and uh just uh don't uh make out with anyone and I said, okay, doc. A couple of last things here. I texted Dave about the Conor McDavid bet. Holy smokes.
Starting point is 01:28:14 That was fast. It's up. You're joking. It's up. What is the bet? So, okay. Because they took it more. They did a way better job of it than we did.
Starting point is 01:28:24 So, you can pick less than 50 goals for Conor McDavid, 50 to 55 goals, 56 to 60, 61 to 65, 65 to 70, and more than 70 goals. Now, you said more than 70 goals, Steve, so we'll work backwards. If you put a $2 bet on that, that's 4.36 times your money. Four and a half times your money, basically. But the next two are the most fascinating ones because they pay the least. 65, 61 to 65, and 65 to 70 pay three and a half times because it seems like those are the most likely to happen, right? He's probably going to get over 60, but pushing 70, that's a wild number.
Starting point is 01:29:05 number but odds are he's gonna crush 60 yes from the odds odds are that's banana sandwich now if you want to if you want to get silly uh you can get seven times if you say less than 50 goals on a two dollar right like if you're toony steve right uh but then a 50 to 55 will pay five again very high because what's the likelihood that he only stays between 50 and 55 or 56 to 60 it goes down on you know half a point to four and a half less than 50 goals so you think he's gonna score a maximum of 8 goals for the rest of the season. Yeah, come on man. By the way, you can find that in the Dangles
Starting point is 01:29:40 Doozies section. You can download the Sports Interaction app on the QR code here. So it's pretty wild. Pretty wild that that's where it's going to be. It's actually under NHL props. Oh, is it? Yes. No, it should be under Dangles Doozies. I'm sure. I want credit.
Starting point is 01:29:57 I want credit for a bet we didn't do. I... Under Dangles Doozies, you can still take william neilander leaf's top goal scorer and yes is more than two to one is he still he must be he is still leading it and matthew's being out three weeks you put two dollars on that you get four dollars and fifty cents back you already have not bad oh you already have two dollars on that i already have yeah okay i put i mean there's a few that where i just made a donation like sheldon keith winning the the jack adams there's a donation but but hopefully i went on on the
Starting point is 01:30:32 willy one it's very weird to be like hey can you make this prop bet and then they make it and then i bet on it and it's like ah i lost that is yeah did you bet on uh leaf second round that's also under dangles i think i did oh yeah yeah because why not why not that's not a donation you stop that and then the last thing jesse i sent you a video and this is hilarious and i want to thank ian olin from uh russian machine for this one uh who dug it up so the hershey bears they do a huge teddy bear toss now the goal this year steven the goal this year was when they score their first goal teddy bear toss right that's what you do obviously but there was a mutiny by fans because There was no goal scored
Starting point is 01:31:23 In the game With 5.4 seconds left to go And so they threw the teddy bears Anyway and the officials had to End the game I don't know A team doesn't score on teddy bear tossing Isn't that crazy
Starting point is 01:31:38 The arena is full of people And it's two decks I love that it started with one person You know what And that takes forever to clean up i've told the story a few times i when i was with the mississauga steelheads i got to be there for a teddy bear toss and yeah the game shuts down for like at least half an hour wow they just bring cars like cars onto the ice like trucks full-blown trucks um i've never
Starting point is 01:32:10 heard of that a team not scoring on teddy bear toss yeah there's a few teams that take it very seriously the london knights have a notoriously big one and the hershey bears who are always like one of the best attended ahl arenas and i mean they're called the bears teddy bear toss right so people yeah people take it to heart i bet it's great i bet mitch marner had a hat trick on every teddy bear toss game in london that was that'd be so much it's like his next generation game that's on brand what do you do tell explain for anybody that doesn't know that uh what mitch marner next generation oh yeah sorry so like for so every year the leafs have the next generation game where it's sort of skewed towards kids and there's all these like fortnight graphics
Starting point is 01:33:00 and stuff like that because it's a day game because it's a day game and marner his track record is he's like four points a game without fail he puts up a great game he's first star that game against um carolina where they came back and scored three goals in a minute like marner was in on all three goals i remember austin being the show in that one because of the spinorama goal yeah but who scored it but he it was a pass to mitch it was a pass to mitch that was number five number six i don't remember who it was uh might have been mitch set up tyson berry for the tying goal and then right off of that face-off seven seconds later goal pass peter marazic uh marner scored to give the leafs the lead somehow that was that's that was ridiculous
Starting point is 01:33:47 he always shows up for the kids now we have to go through these relatively quickly because we are running out of time but our boy casual mats uh who you might know from hockey twitter really great guy gave us a bunch of hockey cards uh on uh on friday night when we were in kingston and asked us to go through some of them and i just want to say that my first one is a center of attention limited edition upper deck jacuzzi card oh because i'm a devil's fan right oh and the second one's a jack use card too look at this what so steve i know yours starts with felix podvan which is on brand it starts with on brand uh felix podvan like the 3d mcdonald's one and i forgot about this the jersey on the back i don't know am i uh solo shot the jersey on the
Starting point is 01:34:36 back it's pod vent in his all-star jersey from the year i believe it was 1996 when um this year's reverse retros is drawn from oh the original western and eastern with the the muppets and everything that's when he faced what are they they called him the uh the michelin man because he faced the most shots in the nhl he yeah 95 96 or 96 97 you think with an unlimited cap and budget the least would have just gone out and got better defenseman back then no but they didn't have an unlimited budget back then which is why they didn't sign gretz simply lose i just want to die pot van in his absolutely goaded coho setup reimer nick robertson card another nick robertson card All of my cards are New Jersey Devils cards.
Starting point is 01:35:21 Oh, my God. Actually? Yes, for that, Palmiari, Subban. Yes. Yes, absolutely. I got a few. Okay, I got some. I got some great young gun rookie cards.
Starting point is 01:35:34 Eric Shelgren, followed by Perlin Holm. Yes. Igor Ozhiganov. Yes. Andreas Borgman and Nikita Soshnikov. I don't think I have any of those guys. Gary Lena. Ally Afraidy.
Starting point is 01:35:47 Ally Afraidy. Russ Cordnell, Tom Fergus, Eddie Olchuk Luke Richardson, Boreas Salming Wow, is this a reprint? It's gotta be It's gotta be, or is it straight from the 80s? No, it says 85 Oh wow, that's cool

Starting point is 01:36:18 Dave Williams, Boreas Salming Team card Paul Henderson That has to be a reprint Paul Henderson never has scored a goal That's ever mattered for hockey lore Bummer I don't know if that's a reprint

Starting point is 01:38:32 holmberg rookie card my eyes are so bad i forgot uh he was 39 briefly he was 62 with the marley's he got called up and was 39 uh then he was 29 before being 88 the 29 era was a good era he's got to have the record for most numbers changed with the same team yeah why did he switch back without getting why do you switch to 88 and he always wanted 88 i'm pretty sure and they just wouldn't let him lou came in and gave him 29 or something i think that was the that's the story such a fart number too no he was he was being one of those gms who's like you're not allowed to have a high number or fun unless unless you're like the star you know but then they signed john tavaris and he's like can i be 88 and do gms really give a shit about that burke did why he um
Starting point is 01:39:24 Let players pick a number. Mikhail Grabowski was very briefly 54. Because 84 was... You can't do that. Wow. Beyond stupid. Huh? What possible performance can that add to your game?
Starting point is 01:39:39 Is it going to make you a better player? Don't waste your time. Eight is more aerodynamic than five. Ah. You know what? That's true. Not a lot of edges. So, listen.
