Starting point is 00:00:00 Good morning, Millennials. Welcome back to the toast and happy Monday. Like, it is what it is. Let's just get it over with, you know? Just, the only way out is through. Rip off the band-aid. However, now sitting and reflecting upon the week, it's actually not a regular degular week for us swirlies.
Starting point is 00:00:18 Not for the Jewish swirlies, yes. And for the toasters by osmosis, because we will be off for Rosh Hashanah is this end of this week. So we'll be off Thursday and Friday celebrating the Chag, which is very exciting. It's the start of the Jewish New Year. New beginnings.
Starting point is 00:00:35 The Hills, new beginnings. Should old acquaintance be forgot? And now... They need to make that version in Hebrew for Rosh Hashanah. That song is so good yeah even though that's like the official new year's song it has no place at the Rosh Hashanah table well if they did a Hebrew transliteration no translation then I think we can make space for it what do you think I think that would be beautiful but we do have a lot of songs you know
Starting point is 00:01:02 I feel like the religion the Jewish religion is like all set on songs yeah and it's it's hard to talk about because the way there's like a word to describe those types of songs I don't know if it's like a Yiddish or a Hebrew word and it sounds like it has a lot of similar letters to like a bad word in English oh I, I was going to say smear out. Oh, smear out is good too. I was going to say. I know it. Now I know what you're going to say.
Starting point is 00:01:29 Let's stick with smear out. Okay. But it like. Smear out's the same thing. But it's like an important word in our culture. And it's just unfortunate that it sounds like in English, like a slur, but it's literally not. It's, I don't know if it's Yiddish or Hebrew.
Starting point is 00:01:42 Just like unfortunate things, you know? I think for, you know, maybe some Christians, the word, like it's like hymns if it's Yiddish or Hebrew just like unfortunate things you know I think for you know maybe some Christians the word like it's like hymns almost yes yes uh yeah yeah also or little ditties I never heard that before like a ditty is a little song I don't know well in Yiddish slash Hebrew it's n-i-g-g-u- Oh, you really just want to say it. Well, it's a beautiful word in our culture. Like, I like it. Two things can be true. Say it.
Starting point is 00:02:09 No, I'm not saying it. But it's pronounced N-I-G-G-O-O-N. Like goon at the end. Okay. So, lots to talk about. I've actually made a list because I didn't want to forget. Right? Right.
Starting point is 00:02:23 There is a lot to talk about. A few things first is just really horrible weekend for like a lot of states and I want to like send love although I don't even think the people listening who live in those areas can hear this there's no power like the Carolinas Florida Tennessee like the videos like full towns being completely underwater so sad so sad I feel like sending love of course though they're probably not hearing this but the videos like full towns being completely underwater. So sad. So sad. I feel like sending love, of course,
Starting point is 00:02:47 though, they're probably not hearing this, but more so like spreading awareness. I feel like my journey to understanding like what's going on in these parts of the country. Like it, it hasn't been as like mainstream as you would think. Um,
Starting point is 00:02:59 and I've been seeing people posting, I'm like, wait, that's how, why am I just seeing it from like, on Instagram homes is writing partner. Like, Oh, I'm not seeing it from Lauren Lane oh okay also good no but I saw like Nico posted Luke's writing partner who's like from a small town in North Carolina was like my town is gone no it's so sad I don't know why that's where I'm hearing it from so I feel like people are like
Starting point is 00:03:20 slowly starting to understand the devastation um but I do feel like it needs a bit more of a spotlight. Yeah. Like the very few videos that have come out of like full suburban towns, just completely underwater people's homes, like literally floating, floating down a river, like a whole ass house. So sad. There are tons of places to donate. Like thankfully Instagram has been like the place where I'm hearing most about it. So just devastated and sending like, you can't even hear this, but I hope everyone who lives in that part of the town, I mean of the country is okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:48 I think it'll be a while before we know. Yeah. The true. Especially because it's like between mountains, it's impossible to get to those places. They're like one road towns, one road in, one road out and that road is gone.
Starting point is 00:03:58 So the only way to get there is like via helicopter. It's going to be a while before we understand like what's happened. I saw whole ass bridges, like just floating down rivers so sad so just wanted to talk about that quickly um I watched a lot of tv this weekend that I do want to talk about and I'm not going to spoil it but I do want to talk about nobody wants this the new Aaron Foster show that I had heard a lot about and I'm not gonna lie I watched it and before I shared going to lie. I watched it, and before I shared, like, on social media, I gave it, like, four or five episodes because I wanted to have, like, a full wealth of, because I'm, like, so, I can acknowledge that. I'm definitely, like, sensitive to, like, media representation
Starting point is 00:04:33 and, like, of Judaism and probably more critical than the average person. And after, I watched eight total episodes, and after, like, the fourth episode, I made, like, an official decree that, like, it passed my test for, you know, representation of Judaism. Now, of course, like could I nitpick a couple of things? Yes. But overall, I thought it was so good. Like the show itself is super cute, like rom-com vibes.
Starting point is 00:04:56 Adam Brody is just everything in this world. And I feel like he did a really good job of like representing this like young, modern, conservative rabbi. And it was really good like I still have two more episodes but all in all I think the show is being really well received and you know Erin Foster is a convert to Judaism and I feel like she really respects Judaism like she took her conversion really seriously and I think that really comes through on the show especially during times like that like these where like you know you have to be extra careful I really feel like she did a good job and Ben and and I, we were first, like the first couple of episodes were like, does this pass the Bechdel test? You know? And there was a scene, I forget
Starting point is 00:05:32 what, oh, they did like a little Shabbat dinner at a restaurant. They took like a bread basket, two candles from like the tables. And it was just like, I think a really good representation of Jews, like of like assimilated Jews, Jews who like live in L.A. and you might not know because they're not dressed like a super religious Jews. I thought it was really good. And like from a show perspective, entertainment perspective, like super cutesy. Jonah from Veep is in it. He's far and away the best character.
Starting point is 00:05:56 Like he's. He always is. He's so fucking funny. And they cover a lot of like classic Jewish things. There's like a weekend where they spend at Camp Chave Rim, which is like a Jewish sleepaway camp and it's so perfect like it's classic there's also like the rabbi's in like an intramural basketball league with his Jewish friends like literally Ben Ben was cracking up like really nailed a lot of like the cultural things you know what I really liked it I think you would like it too I'm gonna watch it because everyone's talking about it and
Starting point is 00:06:21 this is our bucket oh and the main characters are sisters who host a podcast. Like not me thinking it was about me, even though it's literally about the foster sister. No, it's about Alison and Sarah, except she didn't marry a rabbi. No. And so when I first heard the show was coming out, I liked the concept, but I almost wished they didn't make him a rabbi. They just made him like a devout Jew, you know?
Starting point is 00:06:39 And this is my biggest compliment of the show is that I think a lot of times when you talk about like Jews who are insistent about marrying and dating within their faith, there's never really an explanation for it. It just sounds like, you know, we're Jews and we don't like other people. Right. We hate everyone when it's so much deeper than that. It's like integral to our existence. And and it's it's not this like non-exclusive thing. It's it's important. And it's you know, it's for this like non-exclusive thing it's it's important and it's you know it's for our survival and I felt like it wasn't that like they didn't like Kristen Bell because she wasn't Jewish because
Starting point is 00:07:11 they hate non-Jews like I felt like not necessarily that it was explained but it didn't come off as like for no reason you know like Jews just need to marry Jews because we only like each other like that's so not it it would be nice if we could all marry whoever we wanted. Like there wasn't this existential threat all the time. Like it would be nice. It would be nice. So that's probably what I liked most about it was that like there was an understanding as to why like his parents were disappointed. Like his you know what their grandfather went through. Like I felt like it was not necessarily explained like for dummies but it didn't come off where I think it sometimes can come off as like Jews are very insular and we like hate other people and we only want to marry within
Starting point is 00:07:48 each other. That's really not what it is. We marry within each other, like to ensure our survival. Right. Amongst other things. But yeah, no,
Starting point is 00:07:56 it'll be interesting to see how they approach that. I feel like Erin's like respect and love for Judaism and love for her husband and her husband's family. I feel like it really came through while also being like a cutesy fun rom-commy show yeah with great music okay great I'm gonna watch it I had to do so much reading this weekend my weekend was like kind of just you know not as much readings we had sickness in the home so I was just like making soup I heard I heard somebody was going around farting on your pillows. Nobody was going around farting on my pillows. I heard it was me.
Starting point is 00:08:37 That perhaps maybe when I was at your house. Oh my God. Totally. Um, so it was just a home bat. Like we were just home the entire weekend, which was honestly really nice. A lot of playing and, but no TV. And I had to read for the redheads we're recording today it was my book to have you been reading it husbands and lovers yeah I literally read like the first five pages I told you I'm like in a place in my life I cannot read I'm really excited for the episode I feel like people are not going to expect my thoughts you hated it I didn't hate it I just like I thought it was weak sauce chilling and it was my pick so usually you know you're very more inclined but I I'm not attached to that like the other girls are like I can be real everyone else is so like protective over their choices in my book club it's the same like even if your book is the worst like you will die on the hill but being like it wasn't that bad what's even crazier
Starting point is 00:09:20 is everybody loves this book the read the people the readers along with us like the host it has great reviews so for me to be the one who chose it, who should like it the most and everybody likes it. So if I said I liked it, like I just, I sound like everybody else. For me to probably be the one
Starting point is 00:09:32 who's going to be the most critical, it's going to be a shock to the system. Wow. Another scandal hitting the Redheads community yet again. The Redheads are quite scandalous. And also we haven't recorded since Dana gave birth.
Starting point is 00:09:42 So we're going to get her birth story. Oh my God, you guys, the craziest thing. I keep saying this. The craziest thing happened in Dana's delivery room that you have to hear from her mouth to believe.
Starting point is 00:09:52 Yeah. So all that's going down today. The episode will be up on Thursday. Check out the Redheads. It's great. It's the only thing keeping me reading. So thank you, Redheads.
Starting point is 00:09:59 Honestly, that's amazing because I read the first two, three chapters and actually really was enjoying it. And I put it down and I never picked it back up. I'm very much in my TV watching era, which you know what?
Starting point is 00:10:07 It's probably better for my job. So I just need to lean into the TV era. I feel like there was like literally a whole ass year where I didn't watch TV. I'm back on TV. Everything comes in waves. It's so true. Gotta follow the current.
Starting point is 00:10:18 Not only am I in like my TV watching binge era, I'm also very much in my Sabrina Carpenter era, which like I was before last night, but I absolutely have to take a minute to just sing the praises of this queen like Jackie and I just was looking up you have the floor take all the time you need Jackie I was just looking it up because I'm like you have to go but she's only playing Orlando and Tampa I know the furthest south she's coming is Orlando she's not coming further south to South Florida Margo said that maybe she'll add more tour dates because I think her tour is selling out yeah um and I looked at the dates but like to
Starting point is 00:10:50 not even come to Miami like girl is she going to like Dallas not when I'm gonna be there I looked for that too okay because let me tell you how fucking amazing it was and you know me like I like things but I'm always critical like I don't have actually I didn't like her shoes but like I like they were made in shoes they actually were I was I saw them on TikTok like leading up to the shows because people were posting like the opening nights this is only the fifth show of the tour I'm like oh that's interesting like choice of shoes besides for like you know she wears her big boots that I love like platform shirt girly there's like a whole there's three acts and there's a whole act where she wears these like tap jazz shoes. I'm like, what the hell are these? Whatever. It's so not important. The show, let me tell you, like Disney, they know how to churn out stars from the vocals to the dancing, to the lights,
Starting point is 00:11:35 to the set. Like I, the whole thing, and what are we always saying? She has the most unique point of view, right? Her aesthetics are always matching. Her clothes, her graphics, like there is this very fluid, feminine, and that was so clear in the show. Like the sets, the graphics, they were hysterical. She's very like funny, but it was all like a 50s, very like I Love Lucy, the screens. It was like a short and sweet TV. So cute. The feathers, the lingerie, like it was so feminine and so beautiful and sexy. Andgaret and i were talking afterwards because you know she i feel like she does target like a younger demographic and there were like td boppers around me but it was actually an older crowd than i had anticipated i thought it was literally going to be like you know when i was at olivia rodrigo these girls like screaming crying into their
Starting point is 00:12:16 snapchat like crying like not even watching the show watching their themselves cry on snapchat and i would say it's a little bit older which i think is good i think she very intentionally wants like an older audience because a lot of her music is very you know innuendos and mature it's a bit mature the show was so incredible like her voice is next level like isn't it she can belt she can high voice she like she can do it all the songs I only did it and I'm not even, like, a die-hard, actually, I listened to her whole, I will say, like, I'm a really big fan, but I didn't know about two or three songs, like, older ones. The joy, like, everything, she's so cute. She's so happy. Everything was
Starting point is 00:12:57 colorful and positive. Like, she was having the time of her life on that stage, like, literally, and she was so proud to have sold out Madison Square Garden, and she just kept thanking everyone, really genuinely. She put on such a show, and the tickets were so hard to get. Shout out to Remy Bader for giving me her extra ticket, literally so nice. What were you gonna do if not?
Starting point is 00:13:17 I didn't realize you were going with Remytria. I was going with Remytria. Well, I was planning on either buying, or I was gonna see the landscape, and she was like, oh, I have a ticket, do you wanna go? And I was like, fuck yes. So either buying or like you know I was gonna see the landscape and she was like oh I have a ticket do you want to go and I was like fuck yes so I didn't even have to do any work I saw they were amazing at home cooking I was like damn didn't get the invite Ben literally sent me a text send videos I like her too Claudia the whole night after the concert I'm hearing the concert the concert from my husband's phone watching you
Starting point is 00:13:44 and Margo's stories. Like, he's obsessed. It was really hard to get tickets. Like, Margot and I had to separate. Margot went. Like, it was kind of every man for themselves. I saw somebody, it was literally Aris Tour vibes. Like, someone was selling a ticket, like a decent ticket, for like $150,000.
Starting point is 00:13:55 Like, really crazy. She only did one show in New York. She's so mega. And like, it was just so exciting to see someone like at that level, like, who A, was truly grateful for it. Right. Like she couldn't believe everything that was happening to her. And she kept saying that like this year has been just a dream come true to do it.
Starting point is 00:14:11 Like really, I think, I don't think she, I think she gets to make all the decisions in her career. Like everything she puts out is something she wrote and that she feels passionate about. And just, it's also joyful and it's also positive and fun and dancey. Like it was just, it was like, I left feeling so happy. That's how you should leave a concert. Like,
Starting point is 00:14:28 I love that. Bring back joy. As we've said, this is what I've been, well, I've been trying to tell everyone about Sabrina and I feel good that you guys are getting it. Um,
Starting point is 00:14:36 but it's important to have like positive role models who are cheery, who are happy, who are inspiring people to feel the same way and not just like soaking up each other's misery now there is one thing that happened at the show that I like I really did not like and I think like you really won't like it either it was weird well I don't as of right now I'm not going so tell me okay so like the whole show is like very sexy but like in a really tasteful way because Margot was like wow it was so sexy and like yeah she was like on a bed like I'm trying to tell you guys sabrina is raunchy yeah but it wasn't like i feel like a lot of sexiness like in
Starting point is 00:15:08 music it's like grabbing your crotch right like she wasn't doing that she was like very like the beddy boop yes sensual and not so overt like yeah she was laying in a bed but like it wasn't disgusting i can't explain it like it was really sweet. And then, like, before Juno, she does this thing where, you know, want to try on my fuzzy pink handcuffs? So she gives, like, pink handcuffs away to someone in the audience. And, like, they put them on the screen. And she was making, like, sexual, like, innuendos. Like, Juno, baby-making type of things.
Starting point is 00:15:38 And, like, the person that she chose was, like, three 12-year-old boys. And they had, like, fake beards drawn on their face to like look older like it was like they were from the crowd yeah so she picked them out before like like you know uh 22 style well no they were in the pit they were in the pit I feel like she just chose them like at a like on a whim yeah and Margo and I were like chatting about it later truly 12 truly 12 Truly 12? We say everyone's 12. That's a good point, but I actually think they were truly 12. Actually, I don't know how old kids are. They were under 15.
Starting point is 00:16:12 Okay. And it was just weird. And then she goes into Juno, which is probably like her most sexual song, you know? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. I looked past it because I, yeah, I looked past it because whatever, you know past it because whatever you know like I I can't be critical and it's like and she didn't do anything like I don't love the message but there
Starting point is 00:16:31 are so many like actual doers yeah so many maps out there in the age of P Diddy like we have to be prudent we have to focus on the doers before like we the sayers yeah it's just like it's not right especially I'm sure many of the people we talk about on this show like are probably pedophiles and we talk about them yeah and we're like oh my god they're so amazing so like I don't think Sabrina is a pedophile but I don't know I don't like the messaging it was just like a little inappropriate like me and Remy were like oh my god it was really it was unique like it was really crazy okay yeah let's reign it in Sabrina but other than that I don't want to harp like it was amazing it's nice to see someone
Starting point is 00:17:14 so joyful so proud of herself but also so worthy like her talent like was next level between the choreography her voice her outfits like we knew she was the choreography, her voice, her outfits. Like we knew she was going to slay the house down with the visuals, with the aesthetic. But it was even better. And she is so gorgeous. Like really, really. Her hair. I couldn't stop staring at her.
Starting point is 00:17:37 Like it was really amazing. I also think as a shorty, it's hard to take up the whole stage. Yeah, so true. I remember I saw Ari perform at Madison Square Garden she just felt so little yeah I think a lot of you super you were yeah we all went together a different time I saw her I went with my friends a little bit she has friends she has neighbors kind of the dream um but and I was kind of far back with my friends of course with Turney got prime seat so and so I just like at MSG like it kind of didn't feel like she like filled up the whole stage she's like little walking around in her
Starting point is 00:18:07 sweatshirt like singing softly she's like feel she feels small she feels small and sabrina is also a shorty and i do think like the short girls have to work twice as hard to be seen as so big one thousand percent so she had the big hair the the screen like she really she just crushed it i don't have one complaint like it was really super well done except for the 12 year olds in the shoes yeah of course of course of course um I don't have three complaints barring all that a perfect show I'm so glad to hear it because Sabrina has done something that not really anyone has done before which is like when I love someone or something like it really typically goes nowhere It doesn't go where it should go. And so for her to overcome like the Jackie O standard
Starting point is 00:18:49 for people and shows that she loves. Right. Is amazing. And then when you see it succeed, then you see why I was loving in the first place, you know? Oh, I didn't think that's what you were going to say. I think Sabrina has also done something. Of course, the Olivia Rodrigo.
Starting point is 00:19:03 Right. And what's so funny is, I think it was maybe more than a year ago that I was at Madison Square Garden for Jingle Ball and Olivia Rodrigo was the headliner and it was definitely like awkward for Sabrina because like you know Olivia did what she did and Sabrina was like four acts maybe like an hour before Olivia Rodrigo and then this like girl who like in your eyes ruined your life gets to like stomp all over you and become a huge star and it was like and Sabrina was amazing but she only had like two hits back then it was before like the real espresso it was like Nonsense and Feather and
Starting point is 00:19:33 to see her sell out Madison Square Garden and she did play All Because I Liked a Boy which is like really the only song she ever wrote in response to her saga oh except skin of course don't forget and it was real like everyone was screaming and she even looked like she had made peace with the situation she let everyone else sing the part when everything went down we already broken up like it wasn't angry it was just like look what I did and so she really did also come out of that trope on top like just as as big. She's well on her way. No, and it's like in that situation of Sabrina, Joshua, and Olivia, like Olivia had this viral success, like lightning struck. And it wasn't going to, like,
Starting point is 00:20:14 I'd say they would strike twice into this group of people. Like nobody was even like betting on it because that just doesn't happen. Like what Olivia accomplished was like far and beyond what most pop stars accomplish, period, let alone given the like high school musical the musical the series of them so then for like sabrina to do it also like it defies all odds odds makers know joshua bassett weren't even betting on the odds because like there was not even a a chance in hell and you know joshua bassett is on his knees please please please do it a third time god yeah that one he's touring he's releasing music yeah well sorry even though it's so crazy we were just talking about
Starting point is 00:20:52 this when we were talking about the try guys recently privately like what happened between olivia joshua and sabrina why was everyone in a tizzy again you know like why did everyone care about people who you never even heard of up until this moment? It just was this weird saga that gripped people, even though we had never heard of. They broke up, and then he started dating someone else. Right. That is Sabrina's side of the story.
Starting point is 00:21:19 No, and Olivia's. Olivia, like, says in one of her songs, like, they didn't cheat. Like, it was never about cheating it was like they broke up and he dated like the older blonde girl and like everyone had their panties in a twist like people break up and start dating someone new all the time I don't know why like ever and that Sabrina became like the villain of this story when like literally all because she liked a boy like I don't in hindsight I don't get it yeah no it was really crazy and same with the try guys like that guy I don't even know his I don't get it. Yeah, no, it was really crazy. And same with the Try Guys.
Starting point is 00:21:45 Like that guy, I don't even know his name. And what he did was worse because he had an affair. Yeah, but it's crazy when a scandal becomes national and we don't even know the parties involved. I didn't even know what the Try Guys were. I did not know this person. I did not know his wife. I do not know his mistress.
Starting point is 00:21:58 Why am I caring about what he's doing in his personal life? So much so that he has to quit his podcast. I just hope the next time something like that, we can all just like pause to be like, we don't, I didn't even know. When it's someone that you like look up to and they air, of course you have a right to feel something. But I didn't even know him. I think that that was a lot of people's experience as well.
Starting point is 00:22:23 Not ours, but with Scandival. Like they got all caught up in this show. I maintain that Scandival was so crazy because it was the best friend. Of course Scandival is different. If Tom had been cheating on Ariana with someone that we didn't know it would have been so much right of course but she was a player biblical. Okay by the way I believe that in the Try Guys the girl he was having an affair with was also like a part of the the crew she was like a producer or something then that would make it make sense yeah as to why they had to like kick him out of their podcast right so crazy at least they gave us the stride guys so true without him cheating on his wife there would be no shy guys and so we have to thank Ned for that. Ned Schneebly.
Starting point is 00:23:06 That was the other crazy part about the Try Guys scandal. We were talking about a guy named Ned, you know? We were talking about the Try Guys. That's what's crazy. All in all, I know nobody needs to hear this because good luck getting a ticket. But if Sabrina is going to your town, it's worth the fight for tickets. Wait outside. It was.
Starting point is 00:23:24 Bring a snack. C' was bring a snack bring an umbrella map out your route and make a plan to see sabrina oh by the way the make a plan season is upon us like the election is like two months less than two months away um your favorite influencers or celebrities are gonna start talking to you like you're actually brain dead about how to vote um if you're mailing in don't forget a stamp like they're really going to I think it's pre-stamped I do actually don't forget to lick the envelope like something like they are really like I remember it happened happening last election season and it wasn't a presidential election the last time I noticed this this was like two years ago so now that like stakes are
Starting point is 00:24:02 higher no and now with like mail-in ballots. Bring a snack. Election season like starts even sooner. I saw an influencer like saying she just got in her mail-in ballot. It's like, it's September. I thought we had time. The season is upon, you don't have time. The season is upon us.
Starting point is 00:24:17 Don't forget to pack a snack, bring an umbrella, bring a friend, map your route and pick up an elderly on your way. She's a young, able-bodied woman. So like, why would someone like that mail-in vote? she's a young able-bodied woman so like why would someone like that mail in vote I'm Jen that's a genuine question I don't know one time I mailed in vote in college because was it Hurricane Sandy no it was Hurricane Sandy okay so it was like drama I forget what happened that they like and I was an NYU student so they literally made it so easy like if you picked one up at your dorm um and then I remember like six months later I got
Starting point is 00:24:43 a letter in the mail being like your ballot like never made it to us until it was too late like return to sender so I'm just more of an in-person voter because I the mail system failed me I'm an in-person voter there's something exciting about getting the sticker of being a part of the process of course and you know I'm also like an in-person state farm agent sort of girl so like you don't of course I'm taking my arse to the ballot box we are also like knock wood knock wood bite my tongue bite my tongue like able-bodied like we can and we should of course of course that's why I was asking about this influencer like young able-bodied woman going to vote where I vote it's like a school and I love the annual reminder that like I'm no longer in school when I see and it's always like
Starting point is 00:25:23 it's always like a like a like an active school like it's they get the day off but like shit's going on poster board on the wall yeah the science fair let me tell you I'm like actually having traumatic like flashbacks walking through these halls it's such a classic high school uh I'm like uh get me the fuck out of here and I think we like vote in the cafeteria like the whole thing gives me flashbacks gymnasium yeah auditorium energy this is my first year voting down here oh what kind of facility is it like a church what is it you know it's like a dmv oh i have to check though i have to like check where that's just like where i registered so i don't know why i assume oh there's just like a big like there's a big government infrastructure you know it's i don't think you can vote at the dmv like no like in the building where the DMV is.
Starting point is 00:26:06 Sorry, it's like a big government infrastructure. It's a complex. It's a complex. And it's quite a complex situation. Speaking of complex situations, how are the stories today? The stories are good. It's very female focused. Like it's a woman's world.
Starting point is 00:26:21 And we are truly lucky to be living in it also. We need to talk about Katy Perry. Do you know what's going woman's world. And we are truly lucky to be living in it also. We need to talk about Katy Perry. Do you know what's going on? No. No, because like no one's talking about it. Like she released this album, Floppity Flop Flop Flop, Everyone in America. I've started to, I like two songs from the album, Wonder and All My Love or whatever. Me too.
Starting point is 00:26:38 And I've actually started to like remove them from my liked playlist because I'm sick of hearing them. And by the way, Claudia, I never do that. It's just like when I follow someone like you are followed so let me just say so she had this like absolutely atrocious launch like kind of became a joke a meme she left the country she went global she performed at rock in Rio and she's now in Australia doing these like in AFL I don't know what it is I think it's like a Super Bowl type of show. She is having insane success. Like people are dying over her performances. Apparently she's getting paid like millions and millions of dollars.
Starting point is 00:27:10 She's crushing it. And the reception has been so positive. Like literally the opposite of what happened in America. She's like the number one artist in Australia right now. Great. Yeah, I'm happy for her. Me too. Okay, that's good news.
Starting point is 00:27:28 Good. Good. Starting point is 00:32:09 You're welcome. I like BetterTurt. I love BetterTurt. That's where I get all my advice. Well, it makes sense why you're such a sound of mind individual. Our first story, Ariana Grande is on the cover of Vanity Fair, along with her Wicked co-star, Cynthia Erivo. There are like a couple of covers, joint, solo.
Starting point is 00:32:33 And she's talking about her man, SpongeBob Ethan Slater. I mean, she's talking about a lot of things, the movie, yada, yada, women. Women, of course. But for the purposes of today's episode, she's talking about her man, Ethan Slater. And this is what she had to say about their relationship amid headlines, um, about their respective divorces. So she clapped back at the criticism by saying,
Starting point is 00:32:54 quote, the most disappointing part was to see so many people believe the worst version of our relationship. There couldn't be a less accurate depiction of a human being than the one that the tabloid spread about him. No one on him. Him? What? Him.
Starting point is 00:33:08 No one on this, yeah, that he left his baby for the big pop star who. Yeah, but he's like a nobody. I think like the bigger like headline was her. No, she was the bigger headline. But in terms of like what things they did wrong, him leaving his wife and baby was worse than her leaving that irrelevant. Yeah, yeah. But I think it was more like her stealing the man and father. For sure.
Starting point is 00:33:31 But we do have to put the onus on the man that like he has self-determination and she can't steal him. Though I do think she has some womanly wiles, but that's neither here nor there. For sure. Like in a good way. Like, she said,
Starting point is 00:33:44 no one on this earth tries harder or spreads themselves thinner to be there for the people that he loves and cares about. There is no one on this earth with a bigger heart and that is something that no bullshit tabloid can rewrite in real life. She went on to clarify that she is not the evil diva that people have portrayed her to be. She said the back and forth throughout the course of my career has been really hard to navigate mentally, claiming that the media has been trying to destroy her since her teens.
Starting point is 00:34:11 OK, I want to talk about a bunch of different things. First, I want to talk about SpongeBob. And I want to operate under what she's saying, which is like he is the best person. The picture that has been painted of him that he like left his wife and child is not who he is. She will never talk about and clarify what happened that's the thing but okay maybe she doesn't want to because out of respect out of respect for the baby or the mother whatever what could it be how could this have gone down in a way like that was kosher wife have enough
Starting point is 00:34:40 did the mother have the affair so she his? She has maintained in her own way, like whether it's speaking directly to media in a very subtle way like she just did, or Bowen Yang has oddly been like a spokesperson for her, being like, everything you're hearing is completely untrue. So they have really maintained this line of like, this did not happen the way that you think it did. But they have not offered an alternative
Starting point is 00:35:02 as to what did happen. And I just, I find it frustrating because I want to what did happen and I just I find it frustrating because I want to know what the I'll make a decision when I know what happened but for right now I'm only being given one version of events and then the other thing I'm being told is that's not true okay but I need more than that you know or just don't talk about it yes I'm gonna believe her though like I believe that it did not happen in the way that we think because like so how did it happen so adamant So what do I think happened? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:35:26 Like my imagination isn't that big, but like maybe the ex-wife like had an affair. The baby's not his. He got in a paternity test like a few months after the baby was born because the baby didn't look like him. Like, I don't fucking know. That is fair.
Starting point is 00:35:39 Something bigger could have happened here. And she wouldn't say that because that's, you know, putting these, she's not going to throw that in front of her like to save her own arse but she can like reiterate to her fans like it's not what you think if you trust me and like you know me know me and i'm a good person then you should believe me and like i'm believing her i don't know what it is but like i'm whole i'm leaving space for the option that it didn't go down in this way okay sure what way did it go down paternity incident by the way I like that like that to me makes sense her like having an affair and leaving him that seems less likely but the
Starting point is 00:36:22 paternity because that's that's something you leave your your wife and mother of child for because at that stage you try to make it work right they're really what what could be so bad but yeah i guess if the kid's not his but look at us now we're coming up with terrible theories about this victim like i'm telling you the story's so messy they have to just tell us but if it was something like this they couldn't tell us what are they gonna air this little baby's dirty laundry before the baby's even one? Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:49 Well, I guess we would need to know, like it would be easy for us to surmise if this potentially, that conspiracy theory was true. Like, is he still seeing the baby? Like, does he have visitation? Because if it's not his kid, like bye. But maybe he's committed to being a father to this baby.
Starting point is 00:37:03 And that's why he's looking out for the baby and won't throw the baby under the bus. And the baby's mother. And the baby's mother. I don't know. Just saying. Anything could happen. The book I was reading was about a couple paternity incidents. So it's kind of top of mind.
Starting point is 00:37:21 Well, no, it's a good theory. I like it. It obviously needs to be worked through a little bit but this very subtle way of like addressing directly but not saying anything it's frustrating for sure yes but now as Ariana's fans and I don't know if you're among them but like Ari yeah I am need to and like you know her stands even like the Arianators like really need to like look within and be like do I believe art like do I believe my girl some people won't and some people will I think that's all she's asking for
Starting point is 00:37:52 is like the benefit of the doubt and I yeah I'm giving it to her because also I like her and I want to listen to her music well the shocking part of this whole saga like isn't really what went down it's the fact that like Ariana Grande the one of the biggest pop stars in the world one of the most beautiful women successful talented like that that this is who she chose like that is definitely surprising no yeah yeah but she doesn't have a track record of like amazing like taste in men like even Dalton who and it seems as though she doesn't have a track record of, like, amazing, like, taste in men. Like, even Dalton, who? And it seems as though she doesn't, like, have a type physically. She go, like.
Starting point is 00:38:37 No, I feel like she does, like, really skinny, like, nerdy, like, looking. No. No, I will say, like, for me, her OTP is Big Sean. Right, and he's not skinny, nerdy looking. No, he's also, like, so happy. And he's not skinny, nerdy looking. No, he's also like so happy. And he's been in like the most long-term relationship since Ariana Grande. Like they're never getting back together. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:53 But that was a good time for all of us. I just really hope that these two stay together at this point. They have to. They have to. Even though, what has it been? Like it's been over a year. Yeah, it's been over a year. It was like last summer, I think everything went down.
Starting point is 00:39:06 So that's a real relationship. Yeah. So, anyways, Wicked comes out soon. I got a PR box. I got admitted to Shiz University. There's been some confusion over ruling here at Shiz. Wait, that's premium as hell. I know.
Starting point is 00:39:25 I got a sweatshirt that says shiz. Zach was wearing it all weekend. It was cracking me up. Sick. That's literally sick. I'm so jealous. Yeah. I am so excited for this movie.
Starting point is 00:39:35 Like, it looks so good. I think Cynthia Erivo is, like, the most talented person on the planet. Like, I cannot wait to see what she does with Glinda. The soundtrack, I can't, like, I literally can't wait. I've been talking about it for so long and it's literally here like i know the pr box came and i was like what oh i guess for next year i guess you know people are mail-in voting we can start promoting the wicked movie thousand percent they're on the same track but of course I'll rise above it I can't wait like seriously can't wait I'm sat bring your pillows to the theater it's gonna be a long one well it's actually two separate movies that's how long that's like really crazy and they're gonna make us wait like a whole year
Starting point is 00:40:20 in between it's actually perfect for me because probably by the time I see the movie the second one will be out that's like where I'm at I saw Barbie a year later I could hold on she's on her own schedule I could hold off I still don't know what happened on Real Housewives of Salt Lake City that everyone's quaking over that's so crazy I know she's also never seen like a single video from the Aris tour I've not seen Aris Disney plus it's insane it can be done and I'm a very online person too. I feel like there are people who have those things about them but they don't have social media. Like I am online most of the day. I look for stories like and I have my blinders on. That's so crazy. Yeah so just something about me. Are you ready for our next story another couple that I really needed to stay together that
Starting point is 00:41:06 didn't who Kristen Cavallari and her influencer boyfriend Mark Estes have split after seven months let me tell you I kind of was riding for them I'm shocked I know because he was also like very recently on her podcast talking about like how it's the greatest sex he's ever had like I feel like every time I was reading about them like it was so amazing and positive as recently as a few weeks ago. So how do you go from like amazing and positive to broken up in the span of a few weeks? And obviously like zoomed out. It's not shocking that like her rebound 15-year-old boyfriend,
Starting point is 00:41:40 like that it didn't work out. But if you take a closer look and you've been watching them as we have, you all started to think these two were the real deal. Let me tell you what it reminds me of. Pete and Kim. Pete and Kim, where it's like at first it's like, what, these two are dating? What the woo?
Starting point is 00:41:55 And then I actually think they were- What the woo? I think they were together for about seven months. And by then I was like, oh, you know, an odd couple, but it works perfectly. It works. And then they broke up and I was genuinely shocked because I had fully come around on them and because of everything they had put out but maybe it's maybe they are similar in the sense of like this sort of relationship has a
Starting point is 00:42:16 seven month shelf life based on whatever issues come with the age difference the difference in lifestyles difference in where you live difference in in careers. Maybe it's seven months. No. And I think when it's a relationship with like a much older woman, at some point the relationship does reach a dead end solely due to like having kids. Right. I don't think Kristen Cavallari wants to be out here having babies. Like she's done that already. Same with Kim. Like, and then this is like a young sprightly man who obviously always pictured himself as a father and that reality setting in that like maybe that's not what's gonna happen I think that's part of the seven month itch yes perhaps though I could have seen her having his babies and same for Kim because Kim always said she wants more kids
Starting point is 00:42:57 they did that vanity fair interview where they said Kim was probably the one most likely to have six. She would have a surrogate. She has her eggs frozen. I don't see Kim having more kids. But literally when she was dating Pete, the sisters did that interview and the interviewer asked like, who's most likely to have six kids like Chris? And they said Kim. Okay, but I still, I don't see it.
Starting point is 00:43:23 I'm just saying. And I could see Kristen having more kids because she also kind of reminds me of Kourtney Kardashian yes because she's like earthy and like doesn't vaccinate her kids so it's like woo woo energy and very like um natural and it's just it's natural to be in love and have a baby of course of course of course but I also think Kristen's like a girly like a fun girly and I think like there was a time in her life where like that was what she was doing. And now she's like business owner, famous girly. Yeah, like Cabo, Mykonos.
Starting point is 00:43:52 Yes. And that part of her life is over. And that's fine. Like it's okay. She has three beautiful children. I mean, of course it's okay. I'm just speculating. Yeah, no, I don't see her or Kim having more kids.
Starting point is 00:44:04 At this point, I guess not, because this says no. Right. I'm devastated. I really am. I saw potential in these two, for sure. Although, like, if you zoom out, no. No, but they had me believing. And they became so serious.
Starting point is 00:44:20 They were doing red carpets together, podcasts together. Yeah, when he was on her podcast, just talking very openly about the relationship that for me I was like oh wow okay this is more real than I had thought yeah I think she had posted pictures of him with her kids damn yeah so same with Pete Davidson like he was hanging with the kids he got stepdad tattoo remember he got the tattoo yeah. That was a crazy time. It was. So I will genuinely miss these two as a couple. I wish them both well and endless happiness.
Starting point is 00:44:56 And if the Montana boys have no fans, rip to me because I passed away. They are so cute. I like what they've got going on. Yeah. Well, now we can put her back on the list. And she's a good one to have on the list. Yes, she is. She's kind of a core tenant got going on. Yeah. Well, now we can put her back on the list. And she's a good one to have on the list. Yeah, she is. She's kind of a core tenant of the list.
Starting point is 00:45:11 Yeah, and she's, like, flexible. Like, she can date an influencer, but she can also date, like, an older businessman, Bo. Yeah, and she, like, divides her time. Nashville, LA, New York. Like, I feel like we could put her with someone transatlantic. Yeah, I love that. Yeah. Okay, well, wishing everyone the best truly are you ready for our next story what story number three number yeah a couple that did make it
Starting point is 00:45:34 all the way thankfully and now they have bought a new house olivia colpo and christian mccaffrey bought george clooney's la mansion for 14 and.5 million. Not only did they buy a house, they bought, like, the house. Olivia and Christian are reportedly the new owners of George Clooney's former L.A. mansion. They purchased the Fryman Canyon estate from George for $14.5 million, TMZ reported on Sunday. The 7,000-square-foot, six-bedroom home offers lots of privacy since it's secluded and surrounded by dense trees.
Starting point is 00:46:06 The property also features a 3.81 acre plot with a separate guest house, pool and tennis court. Like this is a palace fit for a queen. And I have long felt that Olivia, I was gonna say Rodrigo, Olivia Culpo like deserves to live in George Clooney's former home. And like now she's at that level
Starting point is 00:46:24 and I'm really, really excited for her. I'm really excited for her. And you know what else I love about Olivia Culpo like deserves to live in George Clooney's former home and like now she's at that level and I'm really really excited for her I'm really excited for her you know what else I love about Olivia Culpo and this is why everyone should watch the Culpo sisters is like she lived in like this gorgeous house in um in LA that you that was in that architectural dry just that like is looks like like a classic beautiful home and like it was so well lived in like her family was always there like every room was filled with people, filled with love. She's always cooking. Like she really lives,
Starting point is 00:46:48 like she will enjoy this house. And I feel like, not to say like anything about LA homes, but I feel like, you know, people travel this, that, like they probably have all these rooms that they don't even go into. Like this house will be lived in that guest house.
Starting point is 00:47:01 And he's the same way with his family. Like he's super close. No, okay. But I was actually thinking about her actually yesterday because I was watching the 49ers game they won and I was thinking about him and and how does like you obviously have to have a place in San Francisco if you're on the San Francisco 49ers like and then you have because I think like the use checks like they have a house obviously that they live in, like in San Francisco for the season. And then they live like their home home is in New York. Yes.
Starting point is 00:47:28 So I guess their home home would be L.A. for her work. Yes. So he had sold his properties in North Carolina when he moved to the Niners. He got a place there. And then in the offseason, he was living at Olivia's house in L.A. Oh, and so now they have like a marital home. And now they have a marital home unclear what her like they'll probably list the former home but there's not details on that right and that was
Starting point is 00:47:51 like her former home that she like bought and paid for herself like love to see it but now she's in a dual income home he does very well he's like one of the biggest contracts in the NFL like yeah they need a 15 million dollar house that was you know former formerly lived in by a mall like it's perfect it is perfect and they do need a 15 million dollar house like they really have that much like family and friends who are constantly staying with them she has her like nieces and nephews like it's just it's a house like brimming with love and I'm so glad to see like every room will get used now I watched a 49ers game last night Brock had an amazing like they played amazing but also like the Patriots like stinkeroony like it's not hard to like be good so let me just say that but Brock was really having a great night but something kind of crazy happened twice so
Starting point is 00:48:28 they scored the the Niners scored but like a flag got thrown because George Kittle like allegedly was holding he wasn't he really wasn't so they took the the touchdown away but they still had another chance they go they make a touchdown kyle uschuk and you'll kyle uschuk's job isn't to make touchdowns it was like just like kind of an amazing day for him he made this like great catch flag george kittle they took it away literally they lost two touchdowns in a row then they scored again george kittle the most amazing catch you've ever seen in your life he's like damn i fucked up two touchdowns i gotta make this one and there were three guys guarding him he jumped up in the air and he caught it it was very heroic
Starting point is 00:49:06 but I know he felt a lot of pressure in that moment for like losing two touchdowns for the team that he was like listen I got this don't worry kind of an amazing game so proud of my guys because I'm not like other girls you know in the sense of I watch football like for fun oh of course of course no I'm happy that they won given this purchase we do need season two of the Culpo sisters totally um and if you haven't watched the Culpo sisters yet like you should what happened to the show so it was on like TLC Discovery Plus then it got moved over to Max which I think was like good it's a good thing yeah and then I think they were probably waiting to see like how many like post show streams
Starting point is 00:49:45 it got and it would get picked up for a season two. But it hasn't yet. Well, that's kind of your fault. I did everything I could. You liked it too much. I know. But it's also like maybe because it was like so good and positive and sisterly and loving that the world couldn't handle that.
Starting point is 00:50:00 Yeah, that sort of joy. It's so true. I'm sorry. I know. I know how much you liked it and how kind of often you reference it it was a really great window totally into a great group of gals Braxton's there wait Braxton is there in a major way like so much so that you actually when you're watching this show you think that Sophia and Braxton are
Starting point is 00:50:21 going to get engaged before Olivia and Christian no by the way people forget Sophia was with him for years no but they were also so serious like they're both dating these football players and like it was kind of awkward for a second because it's like Olivia's older they've been together longer but like Braxton and Sophia like seem more serious like ready to go that's really crazy that's not what happened yeah really crazy damn well Olivia no no what's her name Sophia has a boyfriend now so everyone's sort of settled like Braxton and Alex seem to be going well did not Danny and Zandra seem to be going really well that whole it's a very incestual circle like the the tiktokers from Miami and the culpos like they can't escape one another Danny and Zandra Braxton and Alex Braxton and Sophia like they can't unt one another danny and zandra braxton and alex braxton and sophia like they can't untangle i know danny and zandra are germane to this story 1000 yeah anyways mazel
Starting point is 00:51:12 tov to the culpo mcafree's i keep wanting to call her trout culpo oh that's funny you should i know trout mcafree trout mcafree trout mcafree i know i just need to like let everyone know that if i do accidentally call her Trout, like I've been slipping. When you think of Trout, what do you think of?
Starting point is 00:51:37 Like not Olivia, Trout like the fish. What movie are they eating Trout? Oh. Oh. Parent Trrap. No, and Confessions of a Shopaholic when she's like, I'll have the trout. And then when she's writing it down, she's like, you were a trout. No, I think of they catch trout on the fishing trip.
Starting point is 00:51:58 I mean, on the camping trip with Meredith. And they're like cutting it open. And she's like really disgusted by it. She was a trout. So she takes a Klonopin and goes to bed. Queen. Yeah. Are you ready for our next story?

Starting point is 00:56:44 in another little muck writing scandal again because Sophie Turner oh my god I didn't realize that this was the same publication as ballerini licious same publication as ballerini licious because there's all these headlines today about Sophie Turner admitting that it's a struggle being a single mother and finding strength amid her divorce from Joe Jonas so all of this comes from an interview that Sophie Turner did with the Sunday Times in promotion of her new show Joan where she is not playing Joan Rivers but she is my mistake my mistake is playing Joan Hannington a real life diamond thief known as the godmother who took dressing up as seriously
Starting point is 00:57:20 as her criminal career so she's obviously like on this know, PR swirl for her new show in the UK. For her new show, Joan, period, EP, like serious, you know, classic Sophie stuff. In the interview, she talks about Joan being a single mother. And this is what she, these are the quotes. She said the show, the author says, the show's beating heart is Joan's fight to get her young daughter back home.
Starting point is 00:57:44 Sophie said, quote, if I hadn't been a mother, I don't know if I would have been able to bring the same energy that I did into it, Turner says, adding that she hopes single mothers watch the series. Quote, it's such a struggle being a single mother. Joan doesn't go about it in the best way, but it is amazing to see her really fighting for her daughter. It's also really important for kids to see just how hard parents work for them, end quote. Now, the headline of the Sunday Times article is Sophie Turner, quote, being a single mother is a struggle. Now, that is so duplicitous. Right. People Magazine, Sophie Turner admits it's a struggle being a single mother. Page six, Sophie Turner discusses being a single mother. So, so much so that Sophie Turner put out a statement this morning saying,
Starting point is 00:58:23 I have been widely misquoted today in publications where i have quote stated that quote it's such a struggle being a single mother i'd like to clarify that i was talking about the character of joan that i play and was not referring to myself which is obvious from the original interview in the sunday times culture section i am very fortunate personally to have a lot of help around me which is not the case for a lot of people I applaud all single mothers doing it alone okay like if you just read literally what she said I feel like people say that all the time people who aren't single mothers they say oh single mothers are heroes that's how you putting yourself in the role of a single mother and Sophie Turner I don't think would describe herself as a single mother she has an active father yeah in
Starting point is 00:59:03 her like yeah she's divorced but that doesn't make you a single mom no not necessarily so I didn't think she was saying that she wasn't saying that and like this is so low and really disgraceful and I feel like this probably gave her a lot of anxiety because like her as a parent and then like her whole divorce like was subject for media fodder for like a couple of months and I feel like it's really slowed down and and they have gotten to a place of peace their divorce was finalized they obviously came to an agreement of some sorts so for this to like come back up it looks like yeah like Joe doesn't do anything I'm a single mom right right so annoying so annoying I can't believe like that's what they took away from this and that they would make that the headline it's not even just other publications like
Starting point is 00:59:39 holding on to that quote it's like that the Sunday Times she gave them her time and this is what they chose to pluck from it. And this is how it works. Like the Sunday Times puts out a headline and then it's called like the wire. It gets put out on the wire and all these different publications just pick it up because it's already been written by the Sunday Times.
Starting point is 00:59:55 But sometimes it could be the secondary source that goes in and finds that quote and blows it up. The fact that it was the actual interview that she sat for and that that is what they chose to focus on and sort of lead people to believe she meant is really low and dishonest. And it's so obvious too. I don't think that's what she meant.
Starting point is 01:00:16 I don't even need to believe her because it's so clear that's not what she meant. She's talking about Joan. The whole interview was talking about this lady, Joan, and she wasn't trying to say that she's a single mom okay totally separately but you know what this just reminded me of that I did want to get your take on Taylor not going to the game no Chapel Row not going to her performance did you see she was supposed to perform at this festival and she released a statement saying that she's not going and giving her reasoning for it. And I think this was like kind of like the final nail in the coffin for people,
Starting point is 01:00:48 like kind of like, yeah, your music's really good, but like you kind of like are the worst. And her statement was so like non, it didn't explain, I'm going to read it to you. And she said, all things go is the name of the festival. And it was like, I think she canceled a couple of days before. So people were already in route to see her. And is the name of the festival. And it was like, I think she canceled a couple of days before. So people were already en route to see her. And she was one of the biggest names there. And people were really excited. I apologize to people who have been waiting to see me in NYC and DC this weekend at All Things Go.
Starting point is 01:01:14 But I am unable to perform. Things have gotten overwhelming over the past few weeks. And I'm really feeling it. I feel pressures to prioritize a lot of things right now. And I need a few days to prioritize my health. I want to be present when I perform and give the best shows possible. Thank you for understanding. So it's clear that the thing that's stopping her from performing is like she's gotten really famous and she's having a hard time dealing with it. Not like an actual you know health issue. Right. I just want to say proudly Chapel Roan is not my problem I did not platform Chapel Roan
Starting point is 01:01:48 I didn't even listen to her music I feel like she's been constantly foist upon me and so much of what I've seen from her before even hearing her music which is a shame because maybe if I heard her music first I would have been able to enjoy it because it's like girly swirly pop music and it's very good on a technical level but so much of what I've seen and heard from her before proceeding listening to this good music has absolutely made me dislike her um so I never really had a fair shot at participating in her like she's constantly like making like awful statements about a myriad of things of course like Israel um but beyond that she's she's not- Like miserable. Like she's everything that I'm saying
Starting point is 01:02:27 that I don't like in a singer or a personality. And so whenever she's doing all these things, like I feel so proud to say, I did not contribute to bringing her into this fold. So she's seriously not my problem. Every time she does something or says something, people are like, you have to talk about Chapel Roan. I don't even listen to Chapel Roan.
Starting point is 01:02:46 Why do I have to talk about her? Well, I actually listen to her and it is such a shame that she like is the way that she is because yes, two things can be true. I think in order to, at least for me, in order to enjoy her music, like you really have to separate the art from the artist. Like two things can be true.
Starting point is 01:02:59 Her music is very good. She as a person like seems miserable. And I actually think that maybe she's not cut out for this line of work because I think there are a lot of people who would kill to be in the position that she's in and do things completely differently. Not you know isolate her fans and come off entitled and I think that there's a conversation being had right now where it's like for so long we've said that like we treat the women in pop like so poorly like let them live let them you know there are unfair standards being put on them and unfair pressures and but then it's also so you can apply that here to Chapel Rome but you can also see it from a much
Starting point is 01:03:28 more like I think real point of view where it's like just be grateful and no and also there's so much grow up things are hard sometimes work is hard sometimes there's pressures we all experience different pressures in whatever job you have from a coal miner to a stay-at-home mom. Like, there's pressure, and you have to sometimes push through it. Right, so other artists are chiming in, and I actually saw John Summit, who's, like, on tour, made a video. Okay, he is, like, one of the biggest DJs right now, and he's, like, having a moment because he's dating Ashton Earle, Alex Earle's younger sister.
Starting point is 01:04:03 I do know Ashton. She's on The Up. She's so gorgeous. She's, like, sister who's on the she's on the up she's so gorgeous she's like a college student so she's on the up and like her dating him like it was revealed over the summer and it was just like really good for him really good for her just exciting things happen yeah really cute and he was like I want to he made a TikTok like checking in like hey I'm on tour like hope everyone's doing well I you know I see a lot of people talking about you know artists canceling shows and I want to put my two cents in and he was basically like we are so lucky to get to do what we do like there are people who are working like 18 hour retail
Starting point is 01:04:28 shifts like that's hard and yeah there's pressures on our job that other people don't have but at the end of the day like we are so lucky and just kind of like get over it essentially and I thought that was like a really good take because I think that you know the younger generation is like very coddling by the way because who would even want to step in this? I mean, I'll do it because I'll do it. Yeah, we know. But like what other up and coming artists, like she really is like the next big thing.
Starting point is 01:04:51 And I feel like people give her so much like sensitivity and leeway. And if she's saying she's struggling, like, oh, you can't touch that. Yeah. But now knowing like these struggles are a lot to do with like fame or like, you know, the pressure not concrete
Starting point is 01:05:05 hard things hard things people deal with really hard things on a daily basis and like this is it's it's so soft well so now like viral moments are coming back around like katie perry in rio finding out via text that her husband's divorcing her and then going on and performing one of the biggest shows of her career like that was hard and then of course like I can do it with a broken heart like we didn't know at the time because she just you know went to work and she has a very you know commendable work ethic but like Taylor Swift like going through like a huge heartbreak after a six-year relationship and still showing up for work every day with a smile on her face so like you know there are examples and maybe we don't know maybe there's something monumental going on in Chapel's life
Starting point is 01:05:42 that we don't know about but the way it seems is like she said like I'm getting really famous I feel overwhelmed like I need a minute and it's like she seems like the type that if she were going through something like she would would share slap it on everything you know yeah so she's kind of like getting in her own way and I think even people who are really big fans of her are being like come on however I think people who are really big fans of her it's like come on however I think people who are really big fans of her it's kind of what I'm saying about Ari it's like if you love this person and you believe them and you give them the benefit of the doubt and like this is how she needs to operate in order to do her job she can only operate at this level if she books a show it
Starting point is 01:06:18 might not work out because she can't handle it like you need to love all of her and just be like chap it's true chap take your time okay chap I won't know that if you're a chapel roan fan and you buy tickets to her show like that show might not happen and like that has to be okay with you so I think it's also like knowing your faves and accepting them 360 for who they are not just like the pieces that you like you can't just take her music and then like not want to and she's singing about these things too right her her big feelings, like, and I don't mean that in a condescending way. Like she has big feelings and she's singing about them.
Starting point is 01:06:49 So you can't just like, her feelings can only work for you when it serves you and you can pop your pussy to it. Like you also need to like listen to her when she says that she can't handle it. Facts. Oh my God, I agree with you. Like I think her fans,
Starting point is 01:07:02 and I wonder if like people who are before this, like huge fans of her, like holistically if like people who are before this like huge fans of her like holistically like everything that if this is disappointing for them or it's just like a part of the fandom yeah but really interestingly enough is that they made fun of her on SNL this week it was like the premiere episode of SNL and Bowen Yang was like talking about how the pressures are too much while he was like in character like and she's set to perform on SNL in a couple of weeks like I wonder if she'll cancel that too. Like, I'm holding space for her to cancel.
Starting point is 01:07:29 And I feel like seeing it like that, just accepting chap for who she is. And early on in her career. It's actually a really healthy mindset. Like, it is. And don't get too attached to those tickets that you might have. Right.
Starting point is 01:07:40 Don't book a flight yet. Like, wait till the next one. And I would love to see an artist because I really can imagine the tour life and the performing life like it being not for everyone hard I would love to see an artist who just makes music like they love making music people love their music you shouldn't stop doing that but you don't need to tour every album you don't need to go to these shows and go to the ends of the earth to like pick up fans as opposed to like people can listen to your music and support you in that way yeah you won't make as much money but like you
Starting point is 01:08:07 will have peace of mind that's what lewis capaldi is doing now because his health has really suffered um and as a lewis capaldi fan as a lewis capaldi fan that really works for me like i want lewis to be well and i also want to listen to his music so like put out whatever you want whenever you want i expect that i won't see you live that's fine by me no I think that's a really good like way of looking at it and I think a lot of artists need to come to that conclusion unfortunately in a really hard way because I think Justin Bieber had a similar experience where like it was a couple of tours where they got off you know starting good and then it was just too much for his health for his mental health and I don't think he's ever plans on touring again like I think he plans on like popping up and
Starting point is 01:08:44 doing some live shows like sure but like being on the road four months at a time away from your family like it's not for everyone and I think that's so normal and like it's not a normal way to live right so to be against it that's and like to not have it work for you that's fine and to not want to like push down whatever you're feeling just for the sake of the show that's fine to prioritize yourself but you need to know that and you need to like not book shows because at the end of the day like people you know they hire their tons of money spending plane tickets it's wrong it's wrong agreed however at this point with chapel since she's a counselor just get the refundable buy the insurance on the plane tickets a thousand
Starting point is 01:09:17 percent so yeah and probably if you don't tour your songs you're not going to have as much success as you would have if you played them at rock in Rio and whatnot um be okay with that and I think that's fine you'll still have success but you know what then there are artists who don't tour in the traditional way but they play huge festivals like Lana Del Rey right she's always playing these like hundred thousand person festivals but she doesn't have like tours you know every year and drops an album then does a tour she does her own kind of thing and that's a way to do it too like and I think Chap alone's an amazing live performer but maybe she can't handle that life so she should follow like the Lana Del Rey I think she performs like once or twice a year I think she should write her own ticket maybe she does a concert special maybe she
Starting point is 01:09:56 like does a video tapes a concert could be live with audience or not where she just like does a direct-to-dvd sort of thing love that catch chap but you can drop it on her patreon blockbuster yeah like i i'm into that yeah and she seems like she's like talented enough to be able to do something different like that i feel like some people have to follow the machine because the machine is their industry plans like the machine is what industry plans. Like the machine is what's getting them where they're going.
Starting point is 01:10:27 They need it. She is the machine for her. It's true. Those are my thoughts on Miss Chap. Those are good thoughts. Very healthy. Our fifth and final story,
Starting point is 01:10:37 some not so healthy news. Kim Richards has had a confrontation with Kyle after her psych hold. Her family is worried about her sobriety. So Kim Richards has been shut out by her entire family, TMZ has learned. But it's a case of tough love because we're told she's fallen off the wagon
Starting point is 01:10:53 and was placed on a psychiatric hold earlier this month. But that hasn't ended the drama. Law enforcement sources told TMZ they showed up at a home Kyle owns in the L.A. area Wednesday night after a neighbor called them in hopes of getting Kim removed from the house. Apparently, the neighbors were concerned about Kim's behavior in the past. TMZ has told Kyle had let Kim live in the house, but she moved out a while back.
Starting point is 01:11:13 But Wednesday, Kim showed up again. Law enforcement says Kyle told them she did not want Kim in the house because the family had cut all contact off in hopes that it would shake Kim and get her sober again. We're told cops explained to Kyle it was a civil matter and she'd have to file an eviction action. So Kim remains in the house.
Starting point is 01:11:29 It gets even worse. Law enforcement told TMZ back in early September Kim was at a Hilton hotel in the LA area. It was incoherent. Kyle was there, the cops were called, and when they arrived, they asked Kim to leave, but she refused. Law enforcement told TMZ Kim was placed
Starting point is 01:11:42 on a 5150 psychiatric hold and taken by ambulance to a hospital oh this is really sad I don't know if I like knew that that she had struggled with her sobriety in this way and I feel like she was on a really good path I feel like we haven't like heard about her and her sobriety in a couple of years like she was really doing well yeah she was on and I think the sisters the last season of Beverly Hills just like seeing the sisters being sisterly and now that um Kathy is in the fold too you actually really see how the three of them are sisters I feel like when it's just Kyle and Kim like they're missing that you don't get it they don't look alike like
Starting point is 01:12:13 but all together it was really sweet um so for this to be the next update is really sad and I think that like this is probably one of the hardest things about dealing with someone who has addiction like when the family gets together to be like, this person's gonna come to us for help and we can't give them money, we can't give them a place to stay because you need them to hit rock bottom to have that realization that it's time to get sober and that must be really hard to turn them away.
Starting point is 01:12:33 But Kim can't be deterred because she's staying in the house. Right, and then also to make it matters even worse is that there's celebrities, this is public news. We're hearing that Kyle's trying to kick Kim out of her house to have her hit rock bottom like it's very unfortunate it doesn't sound good it's not a it's not a good situation and it's just I think that just compounds the issue because they have to do what they have to do right but then like you read it and it's it's harsh but that's what yeah people do that's the I think that's like the right that's like the only way sometimes to get someone to see the light.
Starting point is 01:13:06 So sad. Kim is a queen. And I feel like she struggled so hard for so many years to get to a good place. And I thought she really did. I kind of forgot that she even struggled. I'm like, she looked so... She had it together. And you'd love to see her back on the show.
Starting point is 01:13:17 It felt like this real full circle moment. She really healed. And she could come back and just have fun with the girls and her sisters. And this is really sad. And the Richards sisters, when they have... And they have a lot of issues like whenever they do it makes me so sad as a sister myself yeah and I'm just I'm I'm I'm really thinking of them and Kim and I hope she gets the help that she needs and I'm sure her daughters are just like struggling majorly too with this and you hate to see it you really do yeah it's very sad well that's like a great way
Starting point is 01:13:44 to end the show thanks so much for putting that at The fifth should I put it the fourth I Guess yeah we could have ended on our Dissertation about chap and we would Have ended with a little more spunk Maybe but but would we have gotten to That level of a spunk with that lull in Between I don't know maybe not maybe
Starting point is 01:13:59 Would have just been like depressed and Ready to wrap up the show yeah and like You maybe not actually chap wasn't even A story you brought her up yeah you know Because because i wanted i didn't know if you knew about what was going on with the chronically online and i was curious if you had like a take on it and you know what you had a great take i'm so glad i brought it up i'm glad you brought it up too i'm glad that i got to flesh out my take because every time i see it people send it to me i'm like this is not this girl is not my problem um but in talking it through i think we've ended
Starting point is 01:14:22 in a really good place for chap and her future career and her fans and how to like hold space for her if you're a fan yeah I really think so I I do I do but anyways this wasn't going to be a story because it's like no news but what do you think about Taylor not being at the games it's definitely weird like two in a row although like she has tour coming up in like three months one thing about one thing about no no oh we're going next week. Like two weeks. Sorry I thought I was kicking back up in December. Even though I'm going.
Starting point is 01:14:48 No it kicks back up shortly. And one thing about them. Is like they play hard. But they work hard. And like she probably. She's never going to let like a man. Get in the way of. She's got to work.
Starting point is 01:14:55 So the timing is unfortunate. Given like. You know. The losses. And then everyone talking about Travis's future. But I don't think. She's like not there. For any reason.
Starting point is 01:15:03 Other than the fact that she has to rehearse.
