Starting point is 00:00:00 Good morning, millennials. Welcome back to the toast and happy Thursday. Hope everybody's having a gargi-pargi morning. And speaking of gargi-pargi, wait, it's Thursday. Yeah, why are you looking at me like that? I'm just looking at you. I feel a little disoriented, but I am having a gargi-pargi morning. Good.
Starting point is 00:00:18 To kick things off on the right foot because Yawa Sinwar has been eliminated. Yes, the head of Hamas kind of famed if you know you know like Yawa Sinwar um absolutely sending condolences to Bella Hadid today. The elusive Yawa Sinwar the morally corrupt. The only like they have been saying for so long that he is hidden underground they don't know where he is but that he has like you know the remaining hostages like surrounding him so that you know if Israel tries they can't um he wasn't found with any hostages which like fucking sucks but a win is a win you know this is such a major win like I think it's the number one target of like they got Nasrallah which was so amazing they got you guys like you remember where you were when you
Starting point is 00:01:00 heard that like uh Saddam Hussein had been killed yeah or Osama bin Laden I mean there's been a couple so confused. There's been a couple big names like that in the last few months, but Sinwar was the one who planned October 7th. His story is actually so crazy. If you don't know, he's been a terrorist, Popinoff, for decades.
Starting point is 00:01:17 He was arrested and he was in an Israeli prison and he was actually exchanged in a prisoner exchange for one Israeli soldier who was taken hostage back in like 2006 Gilad Shalit Gilad Shalit was exchanged for over 1,000 terrorists wait I did not know okay and Yawa Sinwar was one of them I did not know that given back in the Gilad Shalit exchange then he went on to continue his terrorist activity and he was the mastermind of October 7th also while he wasn't in Israeli prison, he was complaining that he had headaches. And the doctors found cancer in his brain.
Starting point is 00:01:51 And they operated on him and removed the cancer and performed life-saving surgery on this piece of shit. And that's just the craziest thing. Wait, I had no idea the Gilad Shalit of it all. You guys, if you grew up, like, and you're our age and you're Jewish. Like, you grew up, like, your whole life, your childhood revolved the Gilad Shalit of it all you guys if you grew up like and you're our age and you're Jewish like you grew up like your whole life your childhood revolved around Gilad Shalit like he was taken hostage and was just like just major tragedy for years and years and years and years and like Israel never gave up and then like literally a couple of years ago they got him back I didn't realize I knew that they had traded like you know 1500 for one um and I didn't realize one of those 1500 was Yahweh Sinwar and that's why when people
Starting point is 00:02:24 are like it's a prisoner exchange it's literally no it's not no they're like it's a hostage exchange it's not hostages that israel is giving back it's prisoners legitimate terrorist prisoners and they go on to commit more terror which is why like it's it's hard to give them back you know to do it but they do it to save the lives of the innocent people. So hopefully this is like, you know, blowing the case wide open, reaching more hostages, the Bebass family. Like this is huge. This is really huge.
Starting point is 00:02:52 I mean, Hamas has obviously like been very much weakened in the last year of the war, but to take out the number one guy in this group, it's really amazing stuff. Yeah. I was just going to make a joke, but it's actually not fair to Jax Taylor. The amount of pop culture references
Starting point is 00:03:09 I've put into this recap. Just to make it palatable for the swirlies. Just to make it palatable for the swirlies. It's like the Jax Taylor of Hamas. Now, that's not cool because Jax Taylor is not a terrorist, but it was a joke. Yeah, no, not the number one guy in the group we have so much to talk about today I didn't even chat with you were you able to watch
Starting point is 00:03:29 tell me lies finale I was we will do an official tv recap at the end of the show so if you're avoiding spoilers don't worry it'll be at the end we will get we have to get into it we have a lot to do today there's three major things one sin war two tell me lies three no and this is in no particular order three liam pain yeah uh that was shocking that was like probably the most shocked i've been in my lifetime yeah everything all the news today pop culture news um is liam pain like every like details is it a story or you want to talk about it of course of course it's a story. It's like the story.
Starting point is 00:04:07 And then there's a couple others. And then there's Tell Me Lies recap. So it's like if this were a heart rate monitor, there's like three big peaks in the show. Yep, yep, yep. I love that medical analysis. I'm just giving a lot of analyses today. And then also one extra peak at the end of the show
Starting point is 00:04:23 is that when turdy arises from her coccidinia pillow she's headed off to my house i am so looking forward to the meal that will greet me upon arrival i do arrive around dinner time um if i feel like 3 3 30 ish um which means by the time i get your house like it will be dinner time and i will be set for dinner um and i'm really looking forward to seeing what you put together obviously I gave you my my request but you're gonna do your own thing with it you know I gave you the menu options and you placed your order and that's what you'll get and I'm excited and I told you Ben's flying into it as well no and I keep asking you because Harry keeps asking every time I say coach is coming coach
Starting point is 00:04:59 is coming he said and Uncle Ben I'm like that's literally disgusting he's so rude but he's really excited about yes of course like I said to Ben so Ben was supposed to be like in and out of Florida this week and last week. That does affect the number of meatballs I make so thank you for letting me know. I think he has a dinner like a work thing tonight. In my town? In your town. That's I don't even have a work thing in my town. Leave it to Ben to have contacts like hose in different area codes. I actually like once in a while get invited to like work thing in my town. Leave it to Ben to have contacts, like, hosed in different area codes. I actually, like, once in a while get invited to, like, an event in my town. I just, like, want to go to encourage events in my town.
Starting point is 00:05:32 I've not made it to one yet. The way you're saying my town, why do I feel like, is that, like, a 30 Rock reference? No. No, but it's, like, in the town in which I live. What is that from? Does anybody know what I'm talking about? I think it's a family inside joke. You live in a town.
Starting point is 00:05:46 No, of course. That's an OG family joke. I'm talking about the town in which I live. Guys, what am I thinking of? My references are just getting crossed today. Maybe it'll come to me. It's okay. So I haven't been to any events in my town.
Starting point is 00:06:01 Mm-hmm. But I look forward to going to some. And anyways, maybe, like, I'd like to hear what Ben's got going on. I don't think you'd be interested in Ben. It's, like, a spritz investor, like, who lives near you, like, having dinner.
Starting point is 00:06:14 Oh, cute. Yeah, so cute. I'm pretty sure he's out on dinner. So I don't need to make, I don't need to account for him in the meatballs count. I don't know. You know what's so interesting
Starting point is 00:06:21 about you and your cooking? Just something, like, I gleaned from eating a lot of your food this summer is like you don't cook obscene amounts. Like you always have leftovers like maybe one or two meatballs. Like bitch make the other pack. Like that's because I don't like leftovers really. I don't like old chicken. I don't like heating it back up. The way that meatball tastes right out of the oven is so much different than after being in a Tupperware in the microwave and I'd rather just make them again okay okay kumsa but I do I definitely suffer from quantity control it's hard because I I either don't have
Starting point is 00:06:55 enough like sometimes Zach and I are splitting a breast of chicken if the boys decide they each want their own because the packs I buy come in three yeah so like if the boys are extra hungry they each get their own breast and Zach and I split or I have all this old chicken in the fridge I'm throwing away in four days no measuring and like deciding how much food to cook for like x amount of people is literally impossible no I just make however much comes in the bag and hopefully I make the same amount for when I'm like making a meal for my family if the Shapiros are coming yes I'll just eat less no and then like in my family it's like everyone is constantly on and off ozempic so like some weeks I'm like no one will eat a thing and then it's like oh everyone's
Starting point is 00:07:34 off and the food is gone so we have to factor that in as well the semaglutide yeah the semaglutide do you know that it's pronounced semaglutide I love that it's not semaglutide? I love that. It's not semaglutide. That Wigoby commercial? Whoa, whoa, whoa, Wigoby. Oh, no, that's the Ozempic one. The Wigoby one is Greatest Showman. Have you seen that one? No, I don't really watch cable.
Starting point is 00:07:57 Wigoby. No. You haven't seen that Wigoby one? No, I have not. I am brave wagovi they want to get me on wagovi oh my god it's literally inspiring good luck watching that commercial and not trying to try so hard well i want it yeah they did like a they basically saw ozempic like oh oh ozempic and they said hold my beer and they made a wagobe one with Greatest Showman. They said, hold my needle. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:27 They said, shoot up. It's so good. How did we get here? Oh, making food. Well, we were talking about food. Oh, but I saw a meme on Instagram today. Not a meme. Okay, Grandma, tell us about the meme.
Starting point is 00:08:37 I saw a graphic. I think you mean the little, I think you mean the meme-y. I saw a little graphic, a little illustration. It was for Thanksgiving, but it showed exactly how much you should make of each thing per person. So salad, you should make one and a half cups of salad per person. Pie, two small pieces per person. Turkey, one and a half pounds. That felt like a lot. See, the thing is like, that's helpful. And I appreciate
Starting point is 00:09:01 someone at least trying to solve this issue that we're talking about but each family is so personal like weirdly enough like we're like a big fat family and we eat a ton of salad like so that's a cup and a half so everybody has their own preferences we're also like we're not a family who really fucks with cranberry sauce so the personalizations make graphics like that obsolete gravy half a cup per person I can't believe how much of this I remembered no I'm not even doing Thanksgiving. The thing about Thanksgiving, and I'm so glad we're talking about it, is that Thanksgiving is literally a top two favorite holiday of mine. Like, I love Thanksgiving.
Starting point is 00:09:33 I hate Thanksgiving food. Like, I really don't like roast turkey. I don't like cranberry sauce. I don't like stuffing. I don't like sweet potatoes. I like mashed potatoes, even though that's not even like a – I feel like I would really like like southern Thanksgiving cornbread mac and cheese I once made a cornbread was it stuffing
Starting point is 00:09:54 cornbread stuffing I don't like stuffing the good thing the last two years I made my own Thanksgiving and I could scour the internet make whatever I wanted try new things that we never had growing up and I was then able to whittle it down to like things that I actually like at my Thanksgiving. And it's just turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, and green beans, just like steamed. I don't want them creamy. Not almondine?
Starting point is 00:10:16 Creamy beany. Not almondine? No, I don't need green bean casserole. Yucky. It's a vegetable. Calm down. Yeah, no, no. That's so American of us,
Starting point is 00:10:25 like making the vegetable like a 4,000 calorie dish. One thing I am good at when I'm cooking is when I'm making potatoes, I feel like a really good, whether it's French fries, mashed potatoes, cassoulet, one potato per person, right? Because you wouldn't eat more than one potato. One whole potato? Yeah. One whole potato per person. I don't know, mashed, wouldn't eat more than one potato. One whole potato. One whole potato per person. I don't know. Mashed. I would eat more than one. That's true. I also love potatoes. I'm learning about myself late in life. I like even just like a boiled potato. I love. Yeah. The word boil like has multiple meanings, you know, like and.
Starting point is 00:11:06 It was just shocking to hear you say it. And maybe like the intonation in which you said it, I thought you were referencing like a pinball. I was not. Boil. But thanks for ruining my new fave. You're welcome. Like last night I made some soup and I threw some potatoes in there
Starting point is 00:11:21 and they were mighty tasty. I actually had leftover Serafina last night. It was so good. Yummy. It was yummy, yummy in my tummy. Yummy in tummy. Okay. So Ben and I have a running joke. Ben said something to me one time, like maybe six years ago, and it was so deeply offensive and like rude that I literally talk about it probably once a week. And he was basically saying, um saying how like, we were like, we were early on dating, but we were very much like together
Starting point is 00:11:49 for maybe a year or two. And he was like talking about how every time we like have dinner, it's like, like he was basically calling me high maintenance. Like, why do we have to like go out and like do so fancy? He's like, why can't we just like grab a slice? And I was like, excuse me?
Starting point is 00:12:01 And I also think we were talking about it in reference, we had just met one of his friends, new girlfriends, and Ben was like, she's so chill. And he was like, not like you, like we were talking about it in reference we had just met one of his friends new girlfriends and Ben was like she's so chill and he was like not like you like you know she grabs a slice and I'm like and the way he said like grab like grabs a slice is like spoken about in my house seriously once a week not only was it like such a loser-y fucking lame-ass thing to say too it was mean like sorry I'm special and like I deserve to be treated like a princess right but it's like you're not even high maintenance about like going out. Like you could cook at home.
Starting point is 00:12:27 I don't think like grabbing a slice, like it doesn't hit all like food groups. You know, first of all, a slice of pizza, let's be real, is a snack. No, it's not like a proper dinner to unless you're going to a baseball game and you actually need to like grab a slice on the way. But like it's it's a snack or it's a late night treat. Like it's really not. And or it's a late night treat like it's really not and if you're ordering dinner do you ever just order pizza no you get pasta you get a salad like you round out your meal so sorry that you're a well-rounded eater and at the time I
Starting point is 00:12:55 really was a well-rounded eater like I I was so like shook when he said it and now it's like a running joke he's like seriously he'll never ever ever live it down I can't believe I don't think I've ever said that this story on the toast toast, like grab a slice, grab a slice. And whenever we're eating pizza, I'm like, isn't this so great? We're just like grabbing a slice. But actually we have weirdly like been grabbing so many slices recently because there's just a pizza place that opened on our block and it's not like a mate. It's just like good New York pizza.
Starting point is 00:13:20 And whenever Ben's walking Romeo, he just like picks up pizza. And it's like this thing we started to do. And you know what? He was onto something about grabbing a slice like literally last night we're watching the Mets game we had oh no two nights ago just like baseball by the way falls into the baseball category we just had like slices dices and like you know garlic knots like it was so I'm so chill like I'm literally not like other girls a couple times in my city life I can remember a couple eras of slice grabbing Zach used to live across
Starting point is 00:13:45 the street from an amazing slice place 99 cent pizza and we used to always pick it up on our way back from going out and it always like smelled a little bit like vomit um the institution so I couldn't go there sober so it was a place where nobody went sober right and it just I associated it with like smelly drunk people so I couldn couldn't grab a slice sober. And then I remember later in life, like when I was more adulting a couple of times, like on my walk home, I was like, you know what? I'm just going to grab two slices for dinner. And like, I just remember them sitting out. They look disgusting. I know. Like it never worked out for me. Grabbing a slice never worked out for me. Jackie, I meant to call you last night and I'm so glad that I didn't because the craziest thing happened. It better fucking crazy no it actually is and like oh like only you and the
Starting point is 00:14:28 toasters would appreciate this I was like trying to explain it to Ben and he didn't get it only me and a couple hundred thou literally only you and the millions and the masses we're watching the Mets game it's Mets versus Dodgers do you mean the Mets no I, I didn't. One day the answer is going to be yes. One day it will be. Actually, I have met a Met. Does that count? No. Meet the Met.
Starting point is 00:14:51 Yeah. So, you know, they switch pitchers every couple of innings because I don't know why. And I was like, I thought I heard them say his name. I'm like, oh, that sounds kind of familiar. And then they did like a whole like DBQ. Yeah. And I'm like, oh, I know why i know him do you know who it was for the dodgers tell me if this name means anything to you i know it does michael
Starting point is 00:15:11 kopeck of course brielle uh brielle to vanessa morgan pipeline yes he's playing for the dodgers and by the way he was crushing it like when he was dating brielle he was in the actual minor leagues yeah never give up on your dreams no no and they were saying he like got traded at the very last minute this year like right before the deadline like kind of going nowhere having a renaissance a Michael Kopech renaissance if you guys remember the Brielle Bierman Michael Kopech days like that was like truly the last time I was happy but now she's engaged yeah yeah yeah and then he ended up like leaving her and dating
Starting point is 00:15:45 Vanessa Morgan did they have a baby together or they got engaged together and I think she like left him when she was pregnant yeah it was like something nefarious was going on there that's always crazy yeah yeah it gave me like a suspicious eye there's no amicable way that happens I know he's like in the sports world and he has been like his whole career but like to see him enter the sports world for the first time it was really shocking Sabrina Carpenter in her new album welcome to the music industry exactly like I know you've been here for six years but personally you just got here yeah so that's what I did last night grabbed a slice and saw Michael Koteck love that for you I watched Tell Me Lies and then I started a new book for my community book club as I for my township it's actually not
Starting point is 00:16:23 my community it's my township um local affair yeah it's open up to the town and what about your county-wide book club I'm not in the county-wide book club well maybe you should start that would require me getting on the highway for meetings oh so true she's got to stay local gots to stay local that's so funny are you gonna pick me up from the airport today? I plan on it. I'll let you know afterwards. The only thing that might come in the way, but I already Google Mapsed it and I can get there. I know I can do it.
Starting point is 00:16:51 I'm just letting you know, like if you don't, that's fine. But like somebody has picked me up. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It could be a Zach situation. And feel free to like throw one of the kids in the back, like, you know, late night car ride. And they would love to see the airplanes. Feel free to pick up Kayla.
Starting point is 00:17:02 Like, and I'll take any of them, honestly. Baylor. Yeah, Baylor. Baylor, Kayla, Baylor University. Feel free to pick up Kayla. And I'll take any of them, honestly. Baylor? Yeah, Baylor. Baylor, Kayla, Baylor University? Feel free to pick up Baylor University. Or Creevi. Or Creevi, of course. Levi Creevi, of course, of course.
Starting point is 00:17:15 I'm really not particular. I know. I know that about you. And you know, in my heart, there is an order, obviously. If I had to say, I would never say the order. But I feel like, do you feel like, well, you're like I would I would never say the order but I feel like do you feel like well you're like a mom so I'm not like do you feel like with niece I would need to talk to somebody who has a lot of nieces and nephews and no children of their own like do you feel
Starting point is 00:17:33 like it's okay to have like favorites for nieces and nephews I objectively do think so I think um I think that's just like what happens I feel like it's just really like not okay to have favorite children everything else is I feel like even grandparents sometimes have a favorite it's like it's the stakes are lower when you're a grandparent and I feel like tell me if this is a universal feeling like I feel like the eldest child of all your nieces and nephews like the like like Olivia's oldest your oldest like they just hit different do you know what I mean like they're just really special I agree with you but I also don't think it's fair for you to call yet because like the other children are not people yet
Starting point is 00:18:17 you have yet to be able to enjoy them yeah yeah let's talk when they're all like personalities and talking to you and who love like you might find that one of the younger ones like is always want to call Cogers. Always wants to play with Cogers. Like yeah. Yeah. I'm looking forward to seeing like which kid will be like you know asking me to buy cigarettes for them you know because I totally would.
Starting point is 00:18:36 Right. So what you're saying like definitely is possible but I think it's too soon to call. Okay. That's such a fair assessment. Thank you. Now I think if it's okay with you. Now, without further ado, we're going to get into the Fast Five stories. And I'm going to do a little bit of a rework today.
Starting point is 00:18:52 And everyone's going to be okay with that. What does that mean? We don't know. It's four stories. And the fifth one is Tell Me Lies recap. Because I don't want to just pick a nonsense story when I'm desperate to talk about the show. So, you know, historically, I have suggested that, and you've been very principled about the five. Well, no.
Starting point is 00:19:07 Usually when we do that, this is how we sneak it in, guys, a little trade secrets. Yeah, it'll be like Jackson White, like a story about what happened on set. Something that he said, and then we lead into the TV recap. Which is seriously just a waste. We do it a lot with reality TV, because news happens, a housewife. Katie Maloney has a new boyfriend. Claudia, that is a story I know I know okay that would lead into a Vanderpump recap right right right but for the
Starting point is 00:19:30 sake of today like literally the name on everybody's lips is Tommy Lies we just need to get to it so that's what we're doing today and sometimes I give you guys a sixth so I do that for days like this thank you for the explanation you're welcome welcome. So now without further ado, here are the Fast Four stories plus a fifth and final with a TV recap that you need to know. And all of that
Starting point is 00:19:51 is brought to you by Smart Mouth. That whole thing. The only mouthwash scientifically proven to eliminate and prevent bad breath for 24 hours
Starting point is 00:19:58 with just two rinses a day. So Smart Mouth prevents bad breath 12 times longer than the leading brand. Their unique dual chamber bottle keeps their two powerful solutions separate until you're
Starting point is 00:20:06 ready to rinse. When you pour the two solutions into a cup, you're activating their smart zinc technology and this zinc ion activation is the key to eliminating and preventing sulfur gas, which is bad breath. And it's a secret to all day fresh breath. SmartMouth was developed by a dentist and like this is a company whose entire sole purpose is to eliminate bad breath, which I'm such a breath conscious person. I'm so nervous about my breath always. And then other people like seriously vomit. Um, like as Ben, I could smell his breath from across the room. It's just
Starting point is 00:20:32 like this spidey sense that I have. So the fact that there's a brand dedicated to this, like really this epidemic in our country, I'm so glad. And it's not just like, you know, a perfume, it's not just covering it up. I find that like a lot of mouthwashes and like oral hygiene products don't actually attack the issue. They just like put a nice minty cover on it. And in 25 minutes, your breath is back. So SmartMouth has the science, the technology and the real purpose. They're a cause driven brand. And I really endorse their cause. So don't miss out on 24 hour fresh breath. You can find SmartMouth at CVS, Walgreens, and Walmart, or visit smartmouth.com slash toast to snag a special discount on your next SmartMouth purchase. That's www.smartmouth.com slash toast. I think that's their bestseller. Comes in a ton of different sizes for whatever size beds you have and a bunch of different colors. I actually had the same, they wear really well. Like they get softer with every wash. I actually had the same pair for like
Starting point is 00:23:34 years. And I recently got a new one because I kind of wanted to like change my vibe. I had the white and then I got, I got the natural and it's just kind of an off white. Starting point is 00:24:31 i'll see turt for details like i'm actually out of breath from just like slaying those ads like did i stop for one second no did she stutter oh my god our first story the big news of the day very tragic news is that former one direction member li Liam Payne has died at the age of 31 after falling from a balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina, at a hotel from the third floor of his hotel room. So on Wednesday, he fell from the third floor of his hotel room at Casa Sur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, according to local officials. The police said in a statement that his fall resulted in extremely serious injuries,
Starting point is 00:25:07 with medics confirming his death on the spot. Cause of death was like internal and external bleeding and injuries. And he died pretty instantaneously. Jackie, you know when like you're reading words and you can't believe it? So first of all, my friend Liz texted me. She was like, Claudia, Liam Payne died. And I actually thought like it was some sort reading words and you can't believe it so first of all my friend Liz texted me she was like Claudia Liam Payne died and I actually thought like it was some sort of joke I didn't believe it then I just went to Twitter to like you know triple check and it was there and I was shocked it reminded me a lot of how I felt when I heard that Kobe Bryant died like when someone who's like not old or sick like just vanishes I was shocked I could not believe it like what on earth yeah and then so many things started to
Starting point is 00:25:48 come out and like on Twitter I don't know it do you feel like it all I feel like we found out like with his family like I feel like because he had posted on Snapchat one hour he'd been posting all day and then when I found out if you go to his Snapchat, it said one hour ago. So it all happened so fast. Then I saw pictures of the inside of his hotel room. And then, and a lot of people are like really upset over TMZ posting pictures of his body. Now it wasn't like a full picture, but like zoomed in. They cut his head out. Yeah, just to show his tattoos to like show that it was him.
Starting point is 00:26:20 They were showing like a dead body on the floor, which was like insane. I'm telling you, I feel like we found it. Like his family must have found out at the same time as the public. I feel like the hotel, maybe like, I don't, I don't think it's like a big fancy private hotel. I just think it got out like insane. Like that's how I feel. Unless I, who knows who was in the room with him?
Starting point is 00:26:40 Cause maybe like when it happened, they immediately like called whoever's closest to him. Maybe, but it couldn't have been the difference of more than like 10 to 30 minutes I don't know if anyone was with him because he was on this trip with his girlfriend and she had left Buenos Aires two days ago right but there were people like in his that last picture there's a picture of him going around that was like the last picture of him I think it was from like an hour before and it's when he was in the hotel because he was like, even before- Well, he had been asked to leave the lobby. The lobby, right.
Starting point is 00:27:08 I feel like he was upstairs with people. Maybe it was friends or people that he had met. I can't imagine he was completely alone. Yeah. But apparently he was in the lobby like acting strangely. They had called the police
Starting point is 00:27:20 and they kicked him out of the lobby and they said like this person appears to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Right. I've seen a lot of stuff and I've seen a lot that's like probably unverified but also seen stuff like in the news and stuff and so it's hard to like keep apart like I know what's legit but it does seem like he was partying yeah I think one of these articles said that like he threw himself off the balcony well so there is not like a confirmed did he trip? Like, was he being like, you know, party, party and like, you know, fell over?
Starting point is 00:27:49 Right. Did he intentionally? I think it was an accident. Yeah. But there is no definite, we're not sure yet. No. Yeah. Nobody knows like what he was doing. Like intentions were.
Starting point is 00:28:03 Yeah. What his intentions were yeah what his intentions were um but I do think what is clear is that there was like drugs and alcohol involved it's so sad like for a million reasons one he's like a young guy who shouldn't be dead two he is a seven-year-old kid like that's devastating three he means a lot to a lot of people like obviously his career has shifted in recent years but like what he's known for like it really means a lot you forget how big and deep the fandom is like because they're no longer together but now like I'm seeing so much like content about One Direction and like how like the influence it had on so many young girls and so it's really it is the most like I'm in
Starting point is 00:28:41 shock it is so tragic. Yeah. And so just sad. And I think so many people are obviously like wondering what all the other members are thinking and doing and saying and if they're going to show up. But at the end of the day, this is just like a young guy who is a dad and he should not be dead. Yeah. It's so sad. It's very sad.
Starting point is 00:29:02 And I think there was a lot going on with him in the last few weeks that now, like in hindsight, like led up to this. Looks differently. And looks different and seems to be like a cry for help then, you know? Yeah, but there's also like a lot of conversations being had about Maya Henry, who's his ex-girlfriend. Right. A lot of what we're talking about in the last couple of weeks
Starting point is 00:29:21 when it comes to Liam Payne is because she's sharing sort of the dark side of their relationship. Yeah. And the things that she suffered during like at his during their time together. And so I think she's receiving like a lot of hate because like the timing is obviously bad. Yeah. But like, you know, two things can be true. Right. right yeah and also not that we could ever even know enough to say but we don't not even a fraction know anything yeah of what like happened between what brought him to what was going on with him yesterday the days before like we just don't know anything so right person is gone the and it's a tragedy current girlfriend had said that like
Starting point is 00:30:06 the reason why she left is because they were only supposed to be there for like four nights and that was when the concert was that we were talking about last week the uh Niall Horan one and the trip just kept getting extended extended and she's like I don't want to be home away from home for that long so I left two days ago. So to be so far away from home when you pass away and like your family's not nearby, like it's so many elements of this just make this so, so tragic. Yeah. And even the fact that like his girlfriend who he was there with
Starting point is 00:30:34 like left and he stayed like that's. It's not a good sign. It's yeah. There was obviously like a lot going on. He was not in a good place and it led to this. And for it to be just like so final is is really really sad yeah so much of it reminds me oddly of Kobe Bryant's death like remember when Vanessa Bryant ended up suing and winning the uh case against who was that against the LAPD
Starting point is 00:30:55 because they had also released photos now a government agency is obviously different than like a tabloid but um so much of it just reminds me like the rollout too like we all found out I think the Bryant family found out at the same time as we did a lot of people found out a lot of people close to him found out from the media like yeah so it reminded me so much of that and also just like the nature of it being so tragic and like such a young talented otherwise healthy person yeah terrible story I was so surprised like I can't even put into words how it took me like 45 minutes for the letters that I was reading to compute into English do you know you call me and told me and I and that's exactly what I said to you like I felt like it took me a number of seconds to like
Starting point is 00:31:33 understand what you just said because what yeah it's so sad like seriously so sad especially for his son yeah so I'm sure we'll get more information and of course the tributes are rolling in and we'll keep you posted but as you said it's pretty final and just terrible terrible um are you ready for our next story I'm just gonna switch the gear yeah we gotta I'm just gonna and I'm gonna copy out this story by saying it's nothing that you or I will care about but I know a lot of people are gonna care so we are doing this in service of others we are doing this in service of others to let you know that Sophia Bush is joining Grey's Anatomy oh yeah no I have thoughts so One Tree Hill sorry and Chicago PD star Sophia Bush is about to put on some scrubs she has landed a
Starting point is 00:32:18 recurring role on Grey's Anatomy joining the medical dramas 21st season as Dr. Cass Beckman, a trauma surgeon described as, quote, amiable, fun, and a little messy around the edges. Her role will debut on November 7th, the day after my birthday. The day after my birthday. Let me tell you, like, things that make sense. This, like, you're telling me Sophia Bush wasn't on Grey's Anatomy already? When I read this article, I was like, let me just make sure it's not like she was already on it and now she's going to get a permanent role.
Starting point is 00:32:43 No, let me just make sure this's not like she was already on it and now she's gonna get a permanent role no let me just make sure this show this article isn't from six years ago like yeah she's on those shows PDMD Chicago NBC like they're all the same to me yeah I think this is great I feel like the Venn diagram of people who love Sophia Bush and watch Grey's Anatomy is mostly a circle a thousand percent maybe a circle with like two little ears like Mickey Mouse yep but I think this is really great for the community and for television. I also think when you're on, Sophia Bush has done a good job. When you think about all the girls from that show, it's, it's a really hard thing to be on like an iconic years long series and then do what afterwards. Right. And I don't think the other girls
Starting point is 00:33:20 really in terms of acting ever did that much. And they recently had like a big podcast, like a rewatch podcast with Hillary, Bethany Joy Lenz and, and Sophia Bush that I think ended really poorly. There's like beef between the girls. So that's over. And I think Sophia Bush has actually done a really great job of saying, she's like really the definition of a working actor.
Starting point is 00:33:40 Yeah. And I think the PDMD NBC shows have been really good for her. And Grey's Anatomy is just kind of like a promotion from that. Yeah. I think that PDMD NBC shows have been really good for her and Grey's Anatomy is just kind of like a promotion from that yeah I think that's a fair assessment another one of the One Tree Hill cast makes is making like a lot of Bethany Bethany because she's on the cover of people she was on Call Her Daddy um I didn't watch One Tree Hill so I don't know who she plays if she's not the other girl who's the other girl Haley Scott Hiley scott which is bethany joy lens hillary burton who's peyton right and then sophia who is uh what's her name in the show
Starting point is 00:34:10 he's on the door peyton he's on the damn door next to you she's her name i don't know brooke davis yes thank you brooke um so yes the other girl because she was in a cult. Yeah, and like who knew? She was like, maybe that's why she hasn't done much acting because she was like silently suffering in a cult. She's now telling her story. She's now telling her story. So just like one Tree Hill is having a moment.
Starting point is 00:34:38 It is, it is. They're always having a moment, especially if you live in North Carolina. They go back to that town, Tree Hill. I know, I keep seeing Chad Michael Murray on a basketball court with his brother they like have reunions where like in the town where they filmed I don't think it's really called Treehill I think it's like Wilmington or something um and they like go to the school where they filmed and they have like I think it's all for charity and it's like cool like fans pay to like you know go see um but Chad
Starting point is 00:35:01 Michael Murray uh Nathan Scott like they all show up it's cute it's cute I'd never watched an episode of One Tree Hill and I really like confuse it with Friday Night Lights a little bit which I did watch um but Friday Night Lights didn't have Gavin DeGraw uh and I'll just say that but but One Tree Hill didn't have that instrumental theme song sorry Friday Night Lights is like not even, this isn't even an opinion. This is just fact. It's the greatest TV show ever created. Like they seriously don't make it. Better than Desperate Housewives? It's such a tough question because like they're so different. So in their respective categories
Starting point is 00:35:44 and genres, they're obviously the best. But if their respective categories and genres they're obviously the best but if I were to pit two against each other just depends like what mood am I in do I want to cry or do I want to laugh like I think One Tree Hill has more I mean sorry Friday Night Lights has more heart than Desperate Housewives yeah but Desperate Housewives has more smarts yeah it's hard for smarts sound off in the comments because like because I don't even I think those are the two like what other are the greatest shows I'll throw some out there not saying these are my nominees okay the OC no it kind of like it had one and a half good seasons yeah Gossip Girl no Gossip Girl no I don't know if this is this isn't really comparable because
Starting point is 00:36:24 now like we get into like a different category of like Mad Men which then brings you to like Game of Thrones by the way Mad Men and Game of Thrones are definitely up in the top five greatest TV shows of all time and I'm gonna put in there tell me lies honestly agreed so sound off in the comments what's your number one it's subjective there's no right answer is what I'm gonna say but there are wrong answers for other people like succession wrong agreed even like Yellowstone which I love when you when you're when we're comparing it to the Friday Night Lights no it's it doesn't it's not there people would say Grey's Anatomy I'm sorry a show
Starting point is 00:37:01 that never ends like part of being a great show is landing the plane at some point 28 seasons like who needs that many shows lost Gracie's dad show Gracie's dad's show I've seen it it was good yeah it's up there but I don't I'm getting really into Gracie she's so good by the way I don't know if you know this. She's JJ's daughter. Her dad is the guy who created Star Wars. No, I don't know if you know this, but she is our opener for Taylor. I don't know if we were planning on going to like the openers.
Starting point is 00:37:38 Oh, I have to see if she's the direct opener. Like you're not going to be able to put the boys down and see Gracie Abrams. I didn't think I would be able to, but we'll map it out that's good to know though um also do people say because I was watching Snitch's concert stories of her like do people say she is very similar to Taylor Swift like in terms of Taylor's early work? Um I think that as a songwriter and that's like why they're such good friends is their ability to like put to lyrics the the feelings we all feel.
Starting point is 00:38:07 But I don't know. I don't think there are that many, like, direct comparisons between them. What do you think is similar? Like, I just think their way of telling stories and capturing, like, young, romantic girl emotions. What do you think about her and Paul Mezcal? I like it. I like it, too.
Starting point is 00:38:25 I like it because I don't not like it. Correct. There's nothing not to like. Exactly. Neither of them have offended me. They're good looking people who have a great career ahead of them. So not one person is like being dragged down by the other. I do feel, and I don't know Paul Mezcal in a personal sense.
Starting point is 00:38:40 I could see him like taking like a moral um like opposition against her privilege yeah I don't know why I could just see him like thinking he's too good for it yeah but I kind of love that he's so free you know yeah speaking of something that we didn't even talk about that I feel like we needed to was Jacob Elordi and Olivia Jade's Italian vacation I'm so fucking obsessed with these two I like Claudia so much so I watched her vlog for a minute. Yeah, of course. Did you look for him because he wasn't in there? No, I know. No, she's so, first of all, the way she has come back from like largely one of the biggest influencer scandals, probably the biggest, is beyond impressive. And like seriously, I feel
Starting point is 00:39:19 like when we talk about her now, we don't even think about college admissions and nobody really comes back from something that big in a way that she has. Which is just like she deserves so much kudos for that. Because it's the hardest thing to do. Two, she is so fucking cool. And she's so naturally cool. Like you watch her videos. She's not even doing anything that crazy. It's like, please teach me.
Starting point is 00:39:37 No, even the way she's just like putting moisturizer on. I'm like, how do I make my hands look like that? The little dainty fingers. Like when I put on face cream, it's like seriously a behemoth scratching their face. She is so delicate and her style is so unique. Like even she wears things. I'm like, the fuck? She looks so good.
Starting point is 00:39:53 Like good luck putting me in that. She's so natural and I know obviously like it takes an obscene amount of money to like be this stylish and naturally. But like- Well, you know, in the vlog, she was shopping at Zara, doing a try on in the dressing room just picking out like simple items and she just has great style I mean this is like the most serious way I would literally take a
Starting point is 00:40:13 bullet to be her she and of course nobody's life is perfect okay like you look like Olivia Jade and date Jacob Elordi down give it a shot she making pasta too. I think that's next for me. Yeah, I was talking to Shannon. She was saying that sourdough is next for her and she might need some starter. Oh, I need pasta making tips from Shannon because I don't see myself going to Italy soon. You should do it.
Starting point is 00:40:36 So I think we should have maybe a Zoom. I think I need her up on my computer. A Zoom, a webinar, a WebEx. That is so funny. We could sell tickets. Honestly, that's, a WebEx. That is so funny. We could sell tickets. Honestly, that's like a great business idea. I would buy one. I would watch it, like the replay.
Starting point is 00:40:53 I'm so glad you brought up Olivia Jade and Jacob Elordi. Like just two people. And they've really been together for a long time. Remember that first picture of them at the dog park together? Like she was wearing tights and they were wearing masks because it was still like COVID-y. It's literally been over two years they were giving violet and zayden from fourth wing yes it's giving like when are you getting married they've been together for
Starting point is 00:41:13 a while and by the vacation with her family was her family's trip yeah and i was obsessed with those pictures of them on the boat like reading and drinking wine like what were they reading you know like no you know that olivia jade is like is like a swirly on TikTok like she was reading a book that we've definitely read a hundred percent yeah um and you know what I actually do have a fifth and final story that I'm going to add to the mix oh wow I just remembered something I wanted to discuss great are you ready for our next story what number number three I can't believe we made that Sophia Bush last so long oh yeah wow we are so talented we are so good at what we do number three Vanderpump Rules is Katie Maloney reveals
Starting point is 00:41:51 she's in love with a new boyfriend so Katie Maloney revealed on her podcast disrespectfully with her co-host Dana who is Dana from VPR who should have been on more one season wonder agreed who was a great cast member, but she took her talents to the podcasting sphere and together they do a podcast. Dana asked her, do you have any life updates that you would like to share? And she said, I'll share. I have a boyfriend.
Starting point is 00:42:14 Yeah, I'm in love. She went on to say that he makes me feel really special and he's really special. And she said, I'm just really, really happy. So many things. One, like sending love to Satchel. Obviously this must be really hard for him I hope the original satchel I hope his friends are checking in on him today too I'm actually
Starting point is 00:42:30 really happy by the way Maloney she didn't say it's not satchel oh my god that's so true maybe they reconnected yeah just want to leave hold space for that Katie Maloney was in such a toxic marriage with probably one of the worst husbands to ever exist. And she like actively knew. It's not like she thought that this was how like your husband was supposed to treat you. She literally knew that it was supposed to be different and it was supposed to be better. And like she took control of that no matter how hard it was. And like got divorced and like actively sought out like a normal relationship. And she must be like so, she must be in shock.
Starting point is 00:43:06 Of what a normal relationship is. Now I don't know if maybe it's a normal relationship and she must be like so she must be in shock like to be with someone now I don't know if maybe it's a terrible relationship I'm assuming the right one for her but if she's happy and it's a good one then that must just be such a good feeling after years of like really being second fiddle to your own husband I'm like let's assume it's like a good decent relationship and he's like a nice guy who is nice to women. It must be shocking to her system, like to see like, oh my God, this is what all you bitches were doing in your relationship for the last 10 years while I was like silently suffocating in the valley.
Starting point is 00:43:33 I'm actually so happy for her. Me too. And then like as a consumer of the show, the timing lines up because they are either filming now or about to start filming. And if they're in love and legit, like maybe we'll see him. It's not early that's what's nice about this it's not early days
Starting point is 00:43:48 I'm glad you brought up Dana like I feel like Vanderpump rules oddly even though they had this like huge surge with Scandival I think they're this kind of impasse with like they don't know where to go from here and how the valley factors in and what the casting is going to be and I think that Dana is like a really fresh she was very good she was a good reality star like it came natural to her I think that she should be on it I think so too I feel like maybe it was more of her choice not to because I don't see why why they wouldn't have her yeah yeah and those dark seasons that she was like part of like some of the worst tv ever she was such a like the only bright spot I think it was one season that's how long it was it was one season but I'm saying like
Starting point is 00:44:23 that era that was like kind of bad for Vanderpump Rules. Yeah. She is like with Charlie and Danica. What was her name? And Max and Matt. Brex. Who was it? Was it her name?
Starting point is 00:44:33 Danica? The suspended manager. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Like those were such dark times. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:40 Well, happy for Katie Maloney. Me. Like actually me too. Are you ready for our fourth story yeah which is some book news because pope francis is making history not her street memoirs of a pope memoirs of a pope he is writing an autobiography it's not called memoirs of a pope i'm gonna give you the name obviously but just know it's historic because a sitting pope has never written a memoir it was supposed to come out after he died,
Starting point is 00:45:05 but instead it's coming out in next January. And this is the title. Just wait. Hope. The autobiography. Wow, that is a title. It rhymes. That's really good.
Starting point is 00:45:25 I didn't know what you were going to say. Of course. What could a pope even title his book, which apparently he's not supposed to write? Yeah. I don't know how I feel. Like, the pope is not my territory, right? I'm not familiar with his work, his background.
Starting point is 00:45:44 I understand the significance and I obviously have respect for it but this is not my personal so how do you guys feel the Catholic swirlies like do you want to hear from the Pope in a memoir type of format yeah here are the deets on hope an autobiography that took the 87 year old pontiff six years to pen with his co-writer it will be published next January just in time for the newly announced 2025 Jubilee of Hope. The upcoming memoir, which follows his March book, Life, My Story Through History, also makes history as the first memoir written by a sitting pontiff, according to the publisher, Penguin Random House. The landmark autobiography was originally meant to be published after his death, but inspired by
Starting point is 00:46:21 the upcoming year of Jubilee, a rarity that only occurs every 25 years, the pontiff decided to release it now. Now the sales of the book. Right. Is he getting like a new house? But I feel like he doesn't keep it. I feel like it goes to the Vatican, like the fund, like the bear bank account. I feel like. I don't think the Pope has personal finances right but he could set them up like for this book if he wanted to however he
Starting point is 00:46:51 should put it in the church bowl plate the plate yeah right the collection plate that's like if you're serious about if if you mean what you say yeah it would be honestly like majorly scandalous if he was collecting a check in a personal sense. But like for what? If you're a Pope, you don't have kids. No, and it's not like you need a great giant house like you live in the Vatican. In the biggest house of all.
Starting point is 00:47:16 Yeah, it's not like you take summers down the shore. Right. And if you do, like that's funded by the Vatican. And I'm sure people would love to host you and say like the Pope stayed here so I don't really think money is an object me neither so I think it should go back to the church I think it probably does yeah I won't be reading this I'm sure if I kept reading like it would tell me that but it's more fun to guess probably buried at the bottom of this article I this will obviously be like one of those books you know like Obama's and Matthew
Starting point is 00:47:51 McConaughey's that never leave the New York Times bestseller it'll sell more copies in the bible and you know in some senses it is the bible I don't think so I think that's like really blasphemous to say oh is it No, just that like one man story. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's just a guy. Like, yeah, yeah, yeah. But it's like Bible related. Like I'm sure it's in the same genre.
Starting point is 00:48:12 Same shelf. They'll be competing with the good book. So I just think that's pretty sweet. Is that the story you added? No, that leads into our fifth and final story, which is actually a beautiful segue because Amazon has announced new Kindles. Oh, yes.
Starting point is 00:48:29 Where you can read the Pope's new book. So Amazon- And I am just want to say like, I'm not thrilled. Oh, you're not? So here's the big news. The first color Kindle is here. Now, if you have a Kindle, like you know how major this is. Amazon just announced four new Kindles,
Starting point is 00:48:44 including a revamped paper white. That's for you. No, it's not. A more capable scribe. I use my scribe. I like it. Me too. And the first ever color Kindle, which will be exciting for, like, the book covers.
Starting point is 00:48:55 But for anything beyond that, I don't really know what the point is. The colors is, like, also, you know when you can highlight something in a Kindle? You're going to be able to highlight in different colors. So it's colors so it's like pink is like all your quotes and yellow is inspiration actually I could sometimes I highlight stuff if especially if we're reading for the redheads like things that are so dumb but then they go into my highlights and I'm like my highlights are actually filled with sage wisdom I know I read my highlights make every few years I'm like wow this is the good book but then I have like a dumb fucking quote in there for something I wanted to make fun of on the redheads.
Starting point is 00:49:27 So that's nice that I could categorize it. My gripe with the relaunch is that, you know, about a year ago they discontinued the Kindle Oasis, which is my favorite Kindle. It's the first Kindle that has a button for page turning. So also the first Kindle where the back isn't completely flat. There's like a little bit of a grip. So just ergonomically carpal tunnel wise, I think it's the most accessible. And then they randomly discontinued it. I had to buy like three or four, like on the dark web. I
Starting point is 00:49:53 have a couple now cause I'm always losing my Kindles. And it was just understood that they would be releasing like a bigger and better version of the Oasis. And so with this launch, I was really just pleased to find that with all these new versions, like four new Kindles, not one of them has a button or a grip. Yeah. Okay. That's a fair. What is that?
Starting point is 00:50:11 Critique, except for the scribe, the big ones we have. Do you ever use that one? That's what I use right now. It's flat. It does not have a grip in the back. No.
Starting point is 00:50:19 And it doesn't have a button either. I thought it had buttons. Like they were moving into the 21st century with the oasis finally giving us a button you can also still tap right but two different ways to turn and then they just got rid of it why i don't know what i think it's like a company secret nobody will tell me one i'll give you mine jackie i have four like i literally bought i bought one from a toaster amazon sent me three from like the back stock because i was like being annoying about it and they gave me some um so it's not it's not for me like I used my privilege about everyone else

So, so many things happened and there are so many storylines worth pursuing, but I want to quickly say there was a conspiracy theory going around last week that so many people told me about like and I guess it come you too like it completely went over my head like I really believe
Starting point is 00:56:33 Diana didn't talk to her dad he cut off her credit card and she didn't do well on the LSAT and she was just kind of in her flop era and I so wish nobody told me about these stupid conspiracy theories because it was true and I want to know how gagged I would have been if I didn't expect it because once somebody told me that I was like oh duh Diana's not stupid well when Diana said she did bad on her LSAT I actually thought that she was lying that she actually did good and she was ready to like split away from Steven however then a few things happened I was like oh no never mind because like she didn't go home for Thanksgiving and then credit card credit card was canceled and I was like oh she really is cut off by her dad but I didn't think she was actually taking this shit all the way in the way that she did when she got in her dad's car rolled down the window and felt the wind on
Starting point is 00:57:13 her face that's my queen right there and for no I think three weeks I was doubting my girl like oh you know that he was in the car with Macy and his rib is broken and like you're still lying for him and I'm sorry to my queen for doubting my queen because that's my queen right there no and the episode this whole season but mostly the last episode it's like everybody is worse off like everybody's lives are in despair everyone has made poor decisions or terrible things have happened and they have ended up so at a loss and Diana's the only one who came out on top she's's going to law school. She's out of this group. She's out of this school. She's graduating.
Starting point is 00:57:47 And she's rich. She has one more semester, by the way. This is only winter break. Oh, right, right, right, right, right, right. Okay, sorry, sorry, sorry. But, like, she can survive one semester. Yeah, and now Steven wants something to do with her because he thinks she's a useless idiot.
Starting point is 00:57:59 And that is great for Diana. So I love that for her. However, she is still in the group because her and Pippa like have this connection connection I okay so that's first now let's go to Lucy who um like did this crazy thing there's one more part of the Diana theory that I don't know if it will come true the paper don't tell me no you told me oh yeah yeah Stephen had written a paper for her so if he finds out that she is actually in great academic standing he does have something he can threaten her with
Starting point is 00:58:28 being like look she plagiarized I wrote this whole paper for her remember when like her computer died or something right right so hopefully that does not happen like I need my queen to stay winning she well in the future like she appears to be doing well like when we saw her apartment yeah she was like in this big she comes from money rich yeah so who knows I'll be so mad like how did this group of people all end up at the same college like I never met anyone like this in college like these people are not real no these people are not real now who do we want to tackle next Lucy yeah Lucy you know makes a decision to fuck Steven immediately regrets it and she thinks that like getting back together with Leo will make her feel better it does temporarily until she realizes getting back together with him means having sex with him
Starting point is 00:59:06 right after she had sex with Steven and that scene was really uncomfortable to watch and then she also thinks it's a good idea to go to a party where she knows she's gonna run into Steven and then that whole you know physical kerfuffle happens and I wasn't like mad watching Leo beat up Steven I was like you know what finally somebody needs to kick this guy's ass he was loving it he was like right for that and then the fact that it ends and like he's the bad guy it's like no Lucy you are still the one that is wrong no I mean how lucky is Lucy she never had to answer for her sins because he went nuts and beat the shit out of Steven that was so crazy what she did like and also it made me realize she could have gotten back together with Leo at any point in the
Starting point is 00:59:41 last few weeks or even I don't know the next day to go from sleeping with Steven like right to sleeping with Leo like is crazy behavior and I was wondering where they were like focusing on her underwear so much I was just like so many times I saw her red like shiny underwear I understand now it was like you know a plot device so that was really well done honestly by the series my jaw was on the floor we didn't make any progress in the storyline about her lying um to everyone about having been drugged by Lydia's brother so that's obviously still something looming yes but it appears now that like Steven and and what's her name Lydia Lucy Lucy like never quit each other after college this is like a thing they go back and forth they hurt each other get back together they fuck so even like him being with Lydia it's just to fuck with Lucy like it's
Starting point is 01:00:28 all this big stupid game and like I can't with these people it's seriously and so it's 2008 she's a sophomore so she graduates in 2011 and so she then is with this fucked up dynamic for four years and then another four years because it's 2015 now. So it's an eight year long game that they're playing. Yeah. Now at first I saw Lucy as a victim of Stevens. I don't really see her that way anymore. I think they're both like equally culpable in the big relationship and the game
Starting point is 01:01:04 that they play with each other right and like you there are ways for her to move on when she texted him to come to the pool to watch her hooking up with her boyfriend like that's when to me she's no longer the whole time that the wedding things are happening she's trying to stay away from she's so nervous she doesn't want max to talk to him maybe because she doesn't want max maybe they hooked up a week ago and she doesn't want max to yeah like so the assumption was that they haven't spoken, but they definitely have. I mean, they probably have. She's very much like still playing this game with him.
Starting point is 01:01:32 And this whole season was really redemptive for Lucy. Like, I really felt bad for her. And even though she did really terrible things in the first season, like she was under the influence of Steven. She was really trying to make amends. She spent, like she said, she spent the whole semester, just trying to, in her own way, apologize the things that she did and like be there for her friends without telling them what she did because otherwise she'd have to transfer um and
Starting point is 01:01:50 so then for her to I and I could even forgive her hooking up with Steven again because she's not completely healed whatever but like eight years later we're still doing this like no the two of you are both garbage goodbye now I want to know how Stephen kept a voice memo from a Motorola Razr to an iPhone like I don't there's literally no way to keep a voice memo for uh 2008 seven years I'm like how many different phones you get like a new phone probably oh my god when if he he recorded that he knew that he was gonna need it one day he probably emailed it to himself and it was in his email like from a Motorola I don't think you could even email off a phone use the USB you could get something if you needed to okay and by the way it felt like he was gonna let that nugget go now another thing like a lot of loose ends were tied
Starting point is 01:02:34 up like we realized like how certain things ended the way that they did but a lot of things are still in the air like who is this person calling Brie you know the days leading up to her wedding I think they want us to assume it's Oliver, but I don't think that it is. That's so obvious. Like, yeah, people are saying it's Marianne. People are saying that it's Leo that like, because where does Leo go from here? Right.
Starting point is 01:02:52 Is he just like a discarded cast member? No, they don't do that. You know, everyone is like incestual. In the credits, he's guest starring. I don't know if he's a full-time cast member, but I'm sure it is someone that we already know. But I do want to talk about the Mary and Oliver Brie situation because like everybody in the show is like Brie was wronged.
Starting point is 01:03:14 No, she wasn't. Like she was doing something really terrible. Like just because it turned out that they were actually doing something worse doesn't take away from the fact that like what she was doing was so terrible. And she should actually have been relieved that she actually wasn't as bad of a person as she thought that she was and what she was doing was actually not as bad as she thought that it was but I guess the assumption is that like what she was doing well yeah she knew having an affair with a married man
Starting point is 01:03:35 is bad like because he's so much older and in a position of power as like a teacher at the school like she almost even though like and he said like she really did pursue him you're sort of like like he's really supposed to know better than to ever start a relationship with a student and one who's 30 years younger that was true the entire time like the facts of the case haven't changed yeah and if anything her guilty conscience should be absolved and instead she's like thinks that what marianne like so like marianne said it was better when i was just a sad wife who didn't know but you still did the same thing and the insinuation was that like marianne and oliver's marriage like isn't what it appears to
Starting point is 01:04:18 because she was like crying at the end i don't know why she was crying but probably and she also said like i've what to lucy like i'm so glad he didn't meet you first and she also said like I what to Lucy like I'm so glad he didn't meet you first and she also said like you're trying to hurt me but like you can't say anything to me that's already like not been said or whatever like I feel like like Marianne was like his student or like I feel like there's a lore like a backstory well I think the only thing that would really make like Oliver like a true monster because him having an open relationship and then meeting someone against the student-teacher dynamic is like completely wrong but that was always the case when people were shipping them by the way yeah yeah um is if he has a pattern of wooing students yeah yeah and like it's always every semester every year it's a different student
Starting point is 01:04:59 and Marianne has like been in this situation so many times and maybe she's in an open relationship because that's only way to like keep her husband who she loves with her but I think if it's like very much like a student like um obsession and she is 19 like he is much older but they didn't even say that like she Marianne didn't even say you're not the first student just another student no yeah so I just feel like by the way I was gagged when we found out that just like random randomly that Evan was his student oh yeah not that it like it doesn't mean it changed anything I was just like oh oh oh yeah no when Miriam was walking into the room where Brie was like putting her clothes and I was fucking freaking out and for like her not even to get the tongue lashing that I thought was coming like she should have been she should have been like bye freaks and just been so thankful like her
Starting point is 01:05:48 whole life could have been ruined she should have been bye freaks like seriously these people are weird as hell like get out her whole life if Marianne like didn't know and if it was what Brie thought it was and by the way Brie went over to his house they're hooking up like in her bed what she was doing was so wrong she should have been so thankful in that moment that she got away with it like and wasn't brought to a disciplinary hearing and everyone knew that she slept with the professor like she got away with it and she's like mad that she got away with it that it wasn't as bad of a thing that she did as she thought it was now we have known since the very first season that something happens with Drew it was under my assumption like that perhaps he took his own life because he was going through this really
Starting point is 01:06:31 tough thing and struggling with guilt and the way it ended up happening was like literally so much more sad I was like it was so hard to watch and like I literally knew when they were drinking and taking pills like I just knew something bad was gonna happen I didn't know if this was gonna be it I didn't think it was gonna be it I thought it was gonna like lead to addiction or something yeah I had such a pit and oh like and I certainly thought that maybe Drew would find out that Wrigley was with Pippa again and that would come between them again like I thought that the story was gonna keep going on you know I thought he would overhear him leaving a voicemail for Pippa or Sienna like I just did not think it was ending like the next day no it was so sad and then Steven sharing with Wrigley that he was the one who wrote the letter like I don't know what that
Starting point is 01:07:13 does for anyone well it allows the letter to be written without anyone like really suffering consequences because Steven was able to spin it as like a helpful thing that he did and that actually worked for me because Lucy like yes she wrote the letter but like Stephen pushed her to write it like it is and Stephen's the one who told Lucy Stephen is the reason why he's not not responsible is the reason why the letter was written I'm glad that they now that know that it wasn't Pippa I'm glad that they know like that's where it came from so even though that's not the complete truth like I actually thought that letter gate tied up nicely like with Steven doing that and
Starting point is 01:07:48 also explains like why now Lucy's gonna like fall back again for Steven because he did this huge thing for her and absolved her of a lot of guilt I also think in that moment because this is before he found out about Evan and Lucy I think he really did like love Lucy and so the fact that yeah they could be the worst versions of themselves and still like each other like I think he really did like love Lucy. And so the fact that, yeah, they could be the worst versions of themselves and still like each other. Like, I think he was really into that because he's so fucked up. Him finding out that her and Evan, like I feel like in that moment,
Starting point is 01:08:11 like he actually stopped like loving Lucy and he wants to fuck with her and he wants to play these games. But like for him, for some reason, that was the line. Well, that is like a big thing with him. Even Wrigley and Pippa hooking up freshman year. Like he punished Wrigley. What did with him. Even Wrigley and Pippa hooking up freshman year. Like he punished Wrigley.
Starting point is 01:08:27 What did he even do to Wrigley? Is that why he told Lucy? No, not Wrigley and Pippa. Wrigley and Diana. Wrigley and Diana. Sorry. Yeah, he's just like fucking crazy and territorial. Yeah, but he did something to Wrigley when he found out about that.
Starting point is 01:08:42 Was that what made Lucy write the letter? No, he found out about it this season. Did he? In the beginning, yeah. He just was like a dick to Wrigley all season long and gave him really bad advice, especially about Drew. Yeah. The Drew thing was so sad, oh my God.
Starting point is 01:08:57 Yeah, and someone said like, how do you come back from that? I do not know how you come back from that, Wrigley. When he said like, I don't know how I'm gonna look my mother in the face, like, cause he's supposed to be this older brother, this protector, and he was the one providing the drugs, and like, I'm sure his parents don't know that they do not know how you come back from that no and when he said like I don't know how I'm gonna look my mother in the face like because he's supposed to be this older brother this protector and he was the one providing the drugs and like I'm sure his parents don't know that they do drugs like horrible terrible it's such a pit yeah and it doesn't bode well for Wrigley and
Starting point is 01:09:16 Pippa because like Wrigley has now a lot of healing to do and then the big final thing was the voicemail that Brie eventually ends up hearing right before walking down the aisle blowing the case wide open that her fiance's been lying to her for eight years and her best friend have been lying to her for eight years they have this big secret like honestly I think Brie's still walking down the aisle because if she doesn't like that's dumb like Evan's a good guy whatever no and I think 10 years ago Brie isn't in love with Evan I think she fell out of love with him she was very naive when they first got together she fell out of love with him so quickly like I don't think that like she has blinders on I think her marrying him like I think he's a really nice guy and he
Starting point is 01:09:55 loves a good marriage he loves her so much it's a good marriage he comes from how she grew up great family like she wants family she wants stability and like those things don't change just because he hooked up with Lucy eight years ago however her friendship with Lucy now changes yeah it means more the Lucy of it all than the Evan of it all for Brie not for anyone else but I think like Brie's reasons for walking down the aisle she's obviously also running away from something on her phone like she's still walking down the aisle I think think. Diana's saying, you know, it's unsettling when you don't know where he is. Slay.
Starting point is 01:10:27 Yeah. She's such a slay. She's such a slay. She bet her to filth. Agreed. And honestly, I ship her and Pippa. At first, I was like, what? No, I ship.
Starting point is 01:10:35 Yeah. Yeah, and also we need Diana at the wedding. Correct. We need Diana in the mix. So if that's the vehicle to get her there is Pippa, I'm down. Yeah. So such a good show, such a good season. It was such a good episode. um correct so that's the the vehicle to get her there is uh Pippa I'm down yeah so such a good show such a good season episode like it was genuinely perfect so many things were tied up while also opening new cases wide open yeah like next season is gonna be so good
Starting point is 01:10:59 and it was just really really amazing and when when Grace Van Patten had done an interview being like so much of her character is really inspired by Vanderpump Rules and she was saying how like Stassi, she like watched as like a character study. The episode last night like really reminded me so much of Vanderpump Rules, just given how incestuous this group is.
Starting point is 01:11:18 Like it really is like, that's why someone saying that the guy calling her is Leo, like I wouldn't be surprised. That's true. Like they just recycle everyone in this group. Yeah. I do wonder who it is. Who else do we know on the show?
Starting point is 01:11:32 And I can't remember a time where I, I didn't read the book, so maybe I'm not as attached to it, but I feel like the show is so acclaimed in addition to the book being so popular. And they've been able to stretch it and, like, create new narratives and new characters and new things. Because the book ended a while ago, right? Like, this is not in the book being so popular. And they've been able to stretch it and like create new narratives and new characters and new things. Because the book ended a while ago, right? Like this is not in the book. No. So it's so impressive. Like it's really a feat for the literature swirlies.
Starting point is 01:11:54 It is. And you know, it's Emma Roberts production company. Queen. Of course, Corolla Lovering, queen. Queen. And Megan Oppenheimer, that's a showrunner, queen. Yeah. So that is our show.
