Starting point is 00:00:09 It's Jackson, Claude and every show The Fast Five Things You Need to Know We'll start your day off, Swirley, It's the Toast. I sound amazing. Welcome back to The Toast and happy Friday from a couple of back off-duty models. Thank God we're off-duty. We're models and we're actresses.
Starting point is 00:00:33 We were also acting on set yesterday. It's true. It was more of like a video shoot. We have to stop using, we're using the incorrect terminology because we don't do that a lot. Photoshoot slash video shoot. We also did photos. It was like, we're very well-rounded models.
Starting point is 00:00:46 We do a little bit of everything. It's true. We're what us in the industry call a triple threat. Oh, yeah. We sing, we dance. We're actually like quintuple dress. We play the piano. More so there's nothing we can't do.
Starting point is 00:00:58 And that's why the Golden Globes recognizes us for the talent that we are. Absolutely agreed. It's so true. So glad to be done modeling. Oh, my God. We did an amazing job, by the way. If you're wondering. And it wasn't that bad, actually.
Starting point is 00:01:07 Like, it was fine. We got McDonald's. It was fine. But like, we may be done modeling. modeling, but I don't look at. Like, did you also have a hard time getting all your eye makeup off? I feel like I have like a little bit of like a smoky eye. I think because we used waterproof mascara. We used waterproof mascara. We had, I had fake lashes on. I came out of the shower and I had black running down my eyes. That's never happened. Even this morning, like, I was like, do I look extra smoky? And then I
Starting point is 00:01:28 had still black. I think I still have black. I don't know how the models do it. Um, I should have used my Raeal bomb. I should have used my Rayal bomb. I used my trusty bar of dev soap. Alex does photos all the time. So, obviously, her bomb has photo shoot proof it's photo shoe friendly so yeah we were on set all day yesterday kind of big drama on set is that I left my cast I took it off obviously for the shoe because that's so not sexy oh my god I forgot have you signed this one too no I haven't no should we I forgot that I had a backup so I wasn't like that upset I was like oh you guys can throw it out like it was three dollars from long greens but I forgot that it was one that you signed do you want to sign this one or just like
Starting point is 00:02:09 it was a moment in time. If you want me to sign it. No, you don't want to. I don't want your like negative energy. It seems like you didn't even want to sign like that. No, when yesterday was negative as well, but I put a positive message on. It seems like you don't even want to.
Starting point is 00:02:20 Have you been shining on turdy? I mean, you saw me on site yesterday. She was shining. Shine on turd, shine on. I was a shiny little turd. She shone. So yeah, modeling. Things we did.
Starting point is 00:02:34 That. Another shoot next week. Just like the... Oh, and if you were wondering, Like what we're modeling and what you're going to like don't even think about it. Don't bother. Don't even worry about it. We'll tell you when the time is right.
Starting point is 00:02:46 Like trust and believe like we're on. Not any times. Not any times. Not any time soon. Um, but trust and believe we will continue to talk about the photo shoots in perpetuity. As they happen in real time. Before, during and after.
Starting point is 00:02:58 Yeah. It's Friday. I'm glad to just get back to my like my real life today. You know, my Miley Stewart life. Um, homemaking. I'm making Shabbat. Mahmage. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:03:09 And I'm just excited to, like, be me again. Yeah, it was fun for a minute, you know, to step into the shoes of the limelight, the glamorous life. Last night, we were, like, playing in the street, we were, like, with the neighbors. And I had, like, a full face of glam. It's just like, oh, mom's so. I know the next time he sees you, he's going to be like, who are you? No, but it's, like, just so intense. It's a lot.
Starting point is 00:03:31 Even though I really realized. I felt like Bailey Taylor addressing the controversy. The controversy. I realized yesterday, because when we both were done, we had, like, 20 minutes, like, chill and I was looking at us and I was like we are we looked so gorgeous and I was like well what's stopping us from looking like this every day and you did make a good point that like if you look that glam every single day like you'll never look special and it'll be hard to be you know different but I don't know the way I felt yesterday versus like the way I felt today
Starting point is 00:03:57 I need to I think one of the lessons I took away from the photo shoot was I need to be wearing more makeup and I wear a lot but I think I'm like doing it poorly and bad and like then your takeaway was to wear more makeup and you came here today wearing less makeup well I had a crazy morning so don't with me, but general life philosophy, yes. I don't wear enough makeup. And the thing is, at the end of the glam session, I was like, put on more. And she didn't, I was like, even better.
Starting point is 00:04:20 My takeaway was that were timeless beauties. Well, I didn't need that takeaway. I already knew that. And I think I need Botox because I was having, like, I was watching the videos. And I was just like a little bit RBF. I'm like, why are you mad, bro? But I wasn't mad.
Starting point is 00:04:33 But the video shoot that we shot, like, required such expressionism. No. And such emotive, like, gestures that I'm glad that you were able because you crushed it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, but it was like in the down periods when we were like waiting for our cue. Like I'm just like cross eyebrows and that's not how I felt. Right. I wasn't confused and I wasn't
Starting point is 00:04:52 mad. Maybe it's not a Botox problem. Maybe you just like have a resting bitch face like maybe but both I don't want to. But as an actress model and triple threat like you can't be freezing your. We have one more photo shoot next week and then and then you can get Botox. I'm going back into retirement. Let me tell you something about retirement. I can't wait. I got my Roth IRA set up. I'm ready to go. I'm going to be living the high life. When you retire? When I retire.
Starting point is 00:05:11 And trust, I will retire. I'm not going to be like Tom Brady. Really? A day will come. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Not anytime soon, of course. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:05:23 You're not going to retire? Are people even retiring anymore? Yeah. I see people like having retirement parties on TikTok all the time. People on TikTok. People with pensions, like, it's kind of the whole point, you know, love to retire. Cops, teachers, well, teachers don't have pensions, but you know what I mean. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:39 You think, obviously, maybe not at the rate they once were. But yeah, people retire. People are still retiring. And can you even retire? Well, no, that's sort of like a larger economical issue. But that's why I said people with pensions. They can retire. Okay.
Starting point is 00:05:51 Definitely. Everybody else, no. Well, you know, this is a good reminder to start saving for retirement. It's never a bad time. It's never too early. Nobody's thinking about it. And it's so not sexy. Like, I'm saving up for a Ferrari.
Starting point is 00:06:02 Oh, I'm saving up for retirement. Like, well, you know what? Who's happier in 30, 40, 50 years? Amanda Francis. Let's talk about Amanda Francis. Let's talk about Amanda Francis. I want to pull up her video. It meant a lot to me.
Starting point is 00:06:16 Yes, I watched it, and it also meant a lot to me. It was actually going to be a story, like, but we could just talk about it now since we're talking about it. So then are we going to replace the story? Yeah, we'll replace the story. Okay. Something like... She made a video. She makes a lot of videos that don't come across my desk.
Starting point is 00:06:27 As you guys know, she does like financial manifestations. It's all sort of like boo hoo-hugwash, and she, like, sells courses. But she is getting married this weekend, which we were following her engagement journey on the Real House of Beverly Hills. She's not returning. So everything we know about the wedding, we know from her Instagram. Her husband built her a chuppa with a cross. Did you see?
Starting point is 00:06:44 No, I didn't see. She really doesn't. I think it's an interfaith wedding. But this wedding came up, this video came up in my feed, and she starts with a screenshot of like her big account and her balance. Her American Express Bill.
Starting point is 00:06:53 So of course I'm hooked. I didn't even know I was watching Amanda Francis. Oh, well, she also looks so different. And then I'm hearing her justify the $700,000 American Express bill. $704,000. And the takeaways that we can all take away from this video, I think, are so critical for us shopaholic.
Starting point is 00:07:09 Well, what's interesting is like, That video is actually not for you, I feel. You know, you don't need this message. The video is for me because I'm not spending money. I'm not shopping. I have the opportunity to release money. So on this Chanel bag. She shares that a lot of her wedding vendors are on this credit card bill,
Starting point is 00:07:26 which is why it's such a high American Express bill. And why she's so excited about her bill being so high. Yeah, like this is exactly what she wanted. This is an opportunity for her to release money. This is what she says. This is my MX bill right? now. It is three days until my wedding. This is my Amex bill right now. And this is after I made a $50,000 payment yesterday. So let me tell you what happens, what's happening, and why I'm excited about it.
Starting point is 00:07:53 What's happening is that, um, weddings are expensive and my Amex is exhausted. For the first time I think ever, my Amex is declining. My Amex is declining. Why? Because typically I put about Mina Amanda Francis have so much in comment. My Amex also declined on DoorDash yesterday. Yeah. Oh, because it was like a fraud alert. It was a fraud alert. And like, honestly, in American Express's defense, like, it was good fraud. I gave my credit card to someone else a place of food order for everyone. So it was like, wasn't my account.
Starting point is 00:08:19 It was a good catch by Amex, but it was me. You just want the drama. Of course. $200 to $250,000 on it every month for years and years and years and years. I can think of a time that it was more like $360 and I can think of a time that it was more like $120. But she's spending money on a month that's $250. So Amex is sending me notifications that say, hey, based on your typical spend and and payment amount, this amount is very large.
Starting point is 00:08:42 We are declining your transactions, which is fine. So I just need to make a payment, and then I'll have them on the AMX, and then we can pay the final invoice for the wedding. We have one of the voice left, and it's $136,000. Okay, why am I excited? I'm excited because I know the opportunity to release money. The opportunity to, okay, receiving and being comfortable and safe receiving is an art, but releasing and releasing with gratitude and purpose and joy is an art too.
Starting point is 00:09:09 You and Bradley need to release with joy. Well, here's the thing is that, like, while yes, she's right, she's also wrong, because she's not talking about the extreme you and her with her $700,000 bill, the extreme of getting too comfortable releasing money. Knowing that money is plentiful and there is always more where that came from is a... That's just a liar! The machine doesn't agree either. Is she done?
Starting point is 00:09:35 And it's part of having a very positive relationship with money that you feel safe and comfortable using it and using it well. Sometimes well is investments. Sometimes well is new team members. Sometimes well is a high interest savings account. Sometimes well is your wedding. In this date, I've decided that's what well meant. But it's up to me what is the right thing to do with my money and it's up to everyone what the right thing to do with their money is. It kind of reminds me when I got into student loan debt to go to the schools I wanted to. I decided those schools were right for me and the debt was worth it. I'm deciding this wedding is right for me. And this massive Amex bill that I'm now going to need to pay off to continue to even be able to use my Amex is worth it.
Starting point is 00:10:16 And I wouldn't be having a wedding at this price if I didn't feel safe and comfortable spending the whole thing. Well, of course. Yeah, hopefully. There's not a lot of rights and wrongs with many. I don't know about that. Tell that to Bernie May. Yeah, right. Okay, Amanda. Like, I actually, I think at its core, I like her message for someone like me.
Starting point is 00:10:33 Like, I definitely have a complicated relationship with money. Like, I hate spending money. No, no. It's a crazy message. It's a crazy video. She's so crazy. First of all, how on her regular day-to-day, not a wedding, how is she spending, like she said, her Amex bill is usually $250,000 a month? Unless she has, like, her mortgage, everything.
Starting point is 00:10:51 But that's still so much money. Yeah, that's really high. I get scared for her. Like, obviously, something's going to happen. How is she sustaining this? Her husband's a general contractor, and she sells courses on the internet. And she said, like, a million times that her husband's poor and he doesn't make it. Because her, like, bupkeys compared to her.
Starting point is 00:11:06 It's, like, she's funding their lifestyle. Yeah. With her courses. I have to imagine this video is like going so viral. Like her courses are probably being sold through the roof. Yeah, because even me like, and we are like discerning consumers. Like there is something. There's like a.
Starting point is 00:11:20 There's something emotional about money. There's a glimmer of just like something attractive in that video where it's like spend with joy. Because you know what? If you're going to have to spend on things, which you do, spend with joy. No. It's a joyous occasion. No.
Starting point is 00:11:33 I actually think what like my pit in my stomach every time I have to spend a lot of money is what keeps me financially stable. If we go into a store and we shop and we bought things that we love and I'm so excited to buy them. Like seriously, like take my money. Like this is so great. And like you're like... Yeah, but by the way, nobody has a pit about the things that they bought that they love.
Starting point is 00:11:51 Like everything that like in life, it's like you get a bill you don't expect or your air conditioner breaks or your car breaks down. I love to know what she thinks about that. Of course. I love spending money on my wedding. Like please. Where's that energy when like, you know, your carburetor fails? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:05 Or, you know, unexpected medical bills. Oh, I'm releasing this money with joy. Like, please. I don't think that's what she's talking about. I'm just saying it's an easy message to spread. No, but I also feel like it's easy to find the worst case scenario. I'd be like, well, what do you think about that? And it's like, okay, that's not what I was talking about.
Starting point is 00:12:20 But that's a lot of times when you release money. Like, that's what you're releasing it for. Because if I'm paying for something that I want, I'm not releasing it. I'm just paying for it. I'm like, but when you have to like steal the money from my cold dead hands, like because it's not something sexy like a bill insurance. She's got a Natara bill. Like, please.
Starting point is 00:12:36 Oh, Naterra. Natara. They are persistent. They get you mail, text, and email. Predatory, and you know what? I felt sick because they contact me via text, via email, and via like regular mail. So you know what? I'll finally pay this bill. Paid it. I got a text. Your Natara bill has been paid. Within one second, I got another text. Your Natara bill is ready.
Starting point is 00:12:56 I just paid it in full. They're disgusting. I'm not paying it. There's a documentary. Where is the Netara documentary? I mean, the health care system in this country is. So broken. It's broken. You guys know that. You know that. Amanda Francis knows that.
Starting point is 00:13:08 I can't even get into it. And I won't, but just know, like, Natera, I've got my eyes on your billing department. Something's amiss there. Yeah. Anyway, so that's your, like, money inspiration from Amanda Francis. Like, take the pieces of it that you need. I wouldn't say take the whole thing. I wouldn't say put a $700,000 wedding on your credit card.
Starting point is 00:13:27 Amanda. And the man that you're already married and, like, have a family with and this changes nothing. It's seriously a formality. It changes nothing. Amanda Francis is the Jim Kramer of our time. To be seen. Right. I'm waiting for the Amanda Francis documentary. And that does include her time in a cult. I actually think that's very interesting. It's her story has yet to be written. You can't put her in a box. I know. And I think she was supposed to be writing it on The Real Housewives. But it was she might be the Warren Buffett of our time. She might be. She might not be. But her story, the rest is still unwritten.
Starting point is 00:14:03 Well, I thought she was writing it. Remember? She was like typing up her memoirs. writes multiple books in the back of the suburban. She writes them herself. Right, of course. Don't get it twisted. Speaking of I saw Crystal Kong Minkoff is back on TV. What is she doing? She works for Jeff Lewis, the radio host. She does Bravo stuff. And I guess they have a show now. And Crystal Kong is on it. She's kind of the hero character. People are loving her. Hero character of a show? Yeah. A radio show?
Starting point is 00:14:27 A TV show. They have a show on Bravo now. Oh, what's it called? Like Jeff Lewis Live. I don't know. It's like another iteration of his like... Radio show? Yeah, I think... I think talking head stuff? Yeah, but it's not the actual radio show. It's like the drama behind it. It's like Vanderpump rules of like Sirius XM. And what is her role in it?
Starting point is 00:14:42 She's, I guess, like a personality on his show. And so she's like a part of the group. And there's like drama with the group. And is she in the drama? Yeah. It's just so funny because the criticisms of her were like no personality. I know. No drama.
Starting point is 00:14:53 Like no. And I was watching a clip in the comments where like Crystal's my queen. Like they love her. And I'm like you guys hated her when she was on. For her to go on and have a career on like being a personality when like personality was the issue. Oh, I really didn't feel like personality was her issue. I just felt like she was just in the wrong group. She was kind of like sensitive and like woke and like talking about people's language.
Starting point is 00:15:14 It's like, girl, this is the real husband was Beverly Hills. Like get out of here. Like gave nothing. Gave nothing, yes. Except she had a glam life. Of course. No, no, no. The husband, the house.
Starting point is 00:15:22 Personality and the dynamics and the women like gave nothing. She wasn't a good fit. She wasn't a good fit with her ugly leather pants. For her to now be like ratata-ta-ta. I don't know what like maybe she plays like sort of, I don't know what sort of role she plays within the radio group. If you're in that world, like you're ratata. No, actually, I think Jeff is a ratatatine.
Starting point is 00:15:38 Everybody sort of has to like rotata around him. Like, you know, he's kind of like the big personality. I don't know, actually. Me neither. As evidenced by this conversation, I don't know. But based on what I think I know about Jeff Lewis is like, it's his thing, you know. And everyone else is sort of like, has to be comfortable being like supplemental characters to the star. Okay.
Starting point is 00:15:54 That's fine. Yeah. Kind of like us. Golden Globe nominees. Nominees. Nominees. Okay. let's get into the story since we sort of got into them already.
Starting point is 00:16:05 We also have Queenie and Wee today, which I completely forgot to choose, but it'll come to me. It always does. It always does. Without further a do-da-do-do, it is time for the fast-ized stories that you-a-do need to know. Very excited. Today's episode is brought to you by Macy's, which we've been talking about all week. And actually, I don't know if I mentioned that. I went to the mall over the weekend.
Starting point is 00:16:22 And one of the, like, sort of banner stores was Macy's. I had such an amazing shopping experience. Like, everyone's gearing up for holiday. I was obviously there for Tured Self. I needed some brassiers. I needed things like for myself, like leggings. bras. Things you guys don't see, but things like as a pregnant woman, you must invest in. And let me tell you, nothing tickles my fancy quite like the lingerie and intimates department of a Macy's. Because let me tell you,
Starting point is 00:16:46 the women who work there, they know a female body better than a doctor. Okay, they looked at me, they said, come here. I chose out some great bras. Obviously, I have special, you know, of unique needs right now when it comes to brassiers. I need support. I need comfort. It's a lot of things. I don't need a bra that can make me nauseous potentially, so I got great bras. They also have fab designer duds and when we were talking about being comfortable releasing money. Of course, Macy's came to mind. I bought some sunglasses from Celine.
Starting point is 00:17:09 Also, I bought, you know... She released it with joy. With joy. I bought you those leggings. I got some leggings, some Reebok leggings that I'm wearing today. They carry fab brands like Roth Lauren, Burberry Celine. Shopping in store and online with Macy's is always fab. Especially with
Starting point is 00:17:25 the holiday season coming up. I think a lot of us, you know, we think it's October. We think we have time. You don't. You don't have time and it's going to creep up on you. And if you're shopping for the man in your life, a woman in your life, a child in your life, and you just want to bang it all out in one store, let me tell you, Macy's is the place to go. First of all, I just love in store. The people who work there are just smart. They know exactly what you're looking for it. They know exactly where to find it. They have so much inventory, so much sizing. You can order stuff. You can send stuff. They also
Starting point is 00:17:51 carry a bunch of different departments. So if you have somebody in your life who's like a huge beauty lover or like for Ben, I'm always looking like the home department, looking for new knives. They have something for everyone. So whether you have a homemaker or a beauty trendsetter, a kid in your life, someone who's just like into the cozy lifestyle. I know a couple of people like that. Macy's has everything you could possibly need. So again, like really high-end brands, really good pricing. They cover all different budgets. So if you're looking for something small or something a little bit more extravagant, you can
Starting point is 00:18:17 get anything you really need off your list for anyone on your list at Macy's. And yeah, I can't even trust how like the experience I had at the store was just really wonderful. I feel like me and the sales lady made a real connection, especially in the hosiery department, hosiery. She saw something in me that I couldn't even see in myself, you know? And again, like Jackie got these fab leggings. I got these fab leggings from Reebok. I'll show you, I'm trying to show you guys, but she's into her very sporty look. If you have like a sporty friend who like wears lots of high socks, definitely check out the et aletia. They've got the sock department. They have every, that's what I'm saying. The departments are departmenting. You can find.
Starting point is 00:18:59 me in the kitchen department. Yes, that's where I was. Lennox Butterfly collection. That's what Ben and I were looking for. He was like in the market for some new knives. He always is. I know. So you could check out Macy's online gift guide for even more ideas because sometimes you
Starting point is 00:19:11 walk into a store knowing exactly what you're looking for. And sometimes you walk into a store like feeling lost and lonely and depressed or you onto a website and you're like I don't even know what you do. So check out the gift guides for Macy's because it really helps hone in on like what you're looking for, especially if you're looking for one department, whether that's like makeup or home like we said. So check out Macy's online gift guides that you can shop in store for this holiday season and get ahead of the curve because like everybody is shopping and you're going to be left
Starting point is 00:19:32 behind. Today's episode is also brought to you by Jolie. Jolie is like kind of the beauty hack that everyone is talking about. So if you spend like so much time, money, energy on like your skincare products, your hair care products, you might not even be realizing like sort of the most basic thing missing is the water that you shower in like not being premium and not being good for your hair and skin. So Jolie is a beauty wellness company. They have a clinically proven filtered, filtered showerhead designed to remove chlorine and heavy metals that can damage your skin and hair. The showerhead installs in minutes, fits all showers, and delivers amazing pressure and elevates any space. The small upgrade can make a significant difference in how your
Starting point is 00:20:05 skin and hair feel all year long. So it's like so simple. I think, obviously I'm a big fan of getting, you know, $100 face cream and a special hair mask. But if you're not even showering with good water, it's all sort of pointless. And you will feel the difference in like in how your brushes. You ever get out of the shower and your hair is like crunchy and hard and just not good. There could actually be like chlorine in your water. So Jolie is such an easy swap. First of all, it's very aesthetic. So I think a lot of people feel afraid to swap out their shower head because like, oh, I have this pargy shower head. Well, it's probably not parj other than the ones at Jolie. It comes in a bunch of different finishes. It's really aesthetic and it stalls in minutes and fits
Starting point is 00:20:35 all showers. So it's universal. It's a very effortless way to elevate your daily routine. So before you do any skincare or hair care, just know that Jolie is the baseline because if your water isn't right, nothing else is going to perform the way that it should. And just like from a shallow aesthetic point of view, your shower will look very chic. And if you have a shower head that you hate and that's ugly and you think you're just stuck with it. First of all, get a Jolie because it's good for your hair and skin. And two, people don't realize like it's actually really easy to install and almost every shower it fits like it's pargy. And then you're just going to start feeling like you're at a luxury spa and an expensive hotel
Starting point is 00:21:02 when you're taking a shower, which is amazing. So try Jolie risk free for 60 days by going to Jolese skinco.com. slash toast. That's Jolese skinco.com slash T-O-A-S-T. Jolie is also available now in Target and Costco, both online and in store. Thank you, intern. You're welcome. Our first story.
Starting point is 00:21:17 I'm like seriously can't take it. I'm sorry. Do you have Tums? No, of course not. Like, why would I have Tums? as a pregnant person who suffers constantly with tom like why would I such a silly question why would I have a tom? Our first story.
Starting point is 00:21:29 You have a tom? Oh my God, we have a tum in studio. I'll take one. One thing about me and Dr. Fox is like such a big, I'm like, am I taking too many tons? And he's like,
Starting point is 00:21:37 there's no such thing. Like calcium is so good for you. Yeah. I got to get in my Pepsid game. In my first pregnancy, I was like, it got so bad. I was like, all right, we're taking Pepsin. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:46 Daily. Oh. I'm sorry. I'm fine. I'm fine. Don't worry. Like seriously, everyone's up worried.
Starting point is 00:21:51 Taylor Swift. perform at the Academy Museum Gala. So Taylor Swift is to perform at the upcoming Academy Museum Gala, the evening, which takes place on October 17th, serves as a fundraiser for and takes place at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles. So this
Starting point is 00:22:06 is the event every year where everyone shows up. Poses in front of the lamps? Yeah, and everyone's there. Is this Lackma? I think it's Lackma. There's like two events every year that are black tie. Every A-lister goes to and we don't know what they're for and who they're about. This is one of them. Everyone goes. Everyone looks pargy. It's the Crem de la Crem.
Starting point is 00:22:22 And Taylor is performing. Details are still under wraps, but it's likely that she will perform, I knew it, I knew you, from Toy Story. Oh, because it's motion picture. It's movies. Right, right. Okay.
Starting point is 00:22:34 And the gal is considered a major stop for Oscar Hopefuls, so she is going for an Oscar nominee. Thank you so much for her. We're very similar in that sense. We are running a Golden Globes campaign. She's running an Oscars campaign, which would probably be us in a few years,
Starting point is 00:22:46 so we should take note. I'll sing. She'll sing. I understand. You do what you got to do. do. This will be a part of G event. Everyone's always there. I hope her and Travis walk the carpet. We'll be televised or anything. Like we won't be able to see this.
Starting point is 00:22:58 Or maybe they'll... We'll get that, like, we'll get a video probably. When I saw this, I thought she was performing at the Grammy Academy. You know they do those like little concerts. I'm like, she hasn't done one since 1989 where she wore the Black Turtleneck. And like, I've watched those videos on YouTube a thousand times. I think she just did like an interview there. And she's saying, I knew what I knew you.
Starting point is 00:23:14 She's like obviously on like an I knew what I knew you tear. This is not that. We won't be ending like pargy high quality YouTube videos that live in perpetuity forever. But fine, sure. We'll probably get like some reels of her singing it, you know, just like, how she did it when she did it at the Disney thing with the guy. Randy. Randy Newman.
Starting point is 00:23:30 Yeah, I'm not going to complain to you. L.R. Swift, like, leaving the house is good for the economy. It's good for my mental health. Obviously, like, I could always want more. But I'll take it. As Liz Woods pointed out, the Kardashians always go. It's very interesting when Taylor goes to, like, very populated events with other celebrities because she doesn't go to the Mecala.
Starting point is 00:23:48 She goes to her own thing. She goes to the Arestore and she goes to the Chiefs Games, like, where she's the queen. And she goes to the BMAs where she's the queen. Where she only shows up at a war shows where she knows like her ops won't be. She's the number one most famous girl in the group. And so for her to go to sort of a sceney event, that's not her scene. Like she doesn't really do that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:04 I hope Travis goes with her, even though it's October 17, so we're still in season. What day the week? I don't know. Well, today's the 10th. Oh, it's a week from today. And what day do the chiefs play? Because you know, it's not always on Sunday. Yeah, I feel that a Friday.
Starting point is 00:24:16 Yeah, no, it's not happening. So which, like, go-to friend will be her plus one. This isn't working. Yeah. Or maybe it's like, I feel like maybe this is one. his last year's playing. So she's like really going to be there for him. And then after he retires, like he'll be there for her.
Starting point is 00:24:30 And the plus one of the moment is Dakota. And she's obviously like an actress. So she might just be going as well. Also someone pointed out like they're Taylor and Dakota. They're Taylor and Dakota. Less talks. Yeah. But that's crazy.
Starting point is 00:24:45 It is. And we were saying Taylor and Dakota and Taylor and Dakota. Yeah. I guess like I don't know if I ever really sat down and thought that Dakota Mortensen, the, is that his name? I think so I don't know why it sounds like If it's not his name
Starting point is 00:24:58 Whose name is it? I agree Like do we go to camp Yes Dakota Morton's Sometimes Sometimes I'll say the name of someone On this show And it's like we're talking about a celebrity
Starting point is 00:25:09 I'll accidentally say like Taylor And it's like someone we like randomly went to camp with it I'm not even friends with on Facebook That's like come some of the deepest recesses of my mind And I feel like mortified that I was even When you just were looking at me like that I was like who? I'm like
Starting point is 00:25:21 It's at our bully from middle school? Like I was like who's Dakota Mortensen? I got scared. You should be scared of him. I don't know if I ever knew on a conscious level that he has the same name as Dakota Johnson. Like that's weird. Yeah. And then like Taylor Swift and Taylor Frankie Paul. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:36 I guess there's like this like meme that goes around like, are you going to handle it like a Taylor Swift or a Taylor Frankie? Unfortunately, like I am going to handle it like a Taylor Frankie. But my goal throughout the years as I morph into a better woman, mother, sister, and friend is to handle it like Taylor Swift. But like I have a little bit of Taylor Frankie Paul and me. Yeah, I think everyone does, which is why there was like a piece of her that people could relate to her. You know, she's not perfect. She's messy. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:06 But maybe we don't. Maybe we are. Actually, I don't. I think even when I started watching the show, I never did. And that was something where I was like, I don't get this Taylor rule. The hype. I actually agree with that. But then she did a few things that endeared her to me, but I never really, like, felt like that.
Starting point is 00:26:20 Saw any part of yourself in her. No. I actually agree. Maybe everyone has a little. bit of Taylor Frankie Paul in them, except you. Like, I don't see even like a little bit of her. Like, I can't even explain to you. Like, I really relate to her like, and this is something I'm really working on.
Starting point is 00:26:34 And I do think I've gotten better. I'm very reactive. And it's like in the moment, I'm so angry and I think I'm so right. And then like a few minutes later, I'm like, okay, that was too much. Like, I did too much. And then you like lose any ground you stand on. So I'm really working on that. I feel like I've gotten so much better.
Starting point is 00:26:47 You have. And I wouldn't even like, unless we're- And hers are crazy. Yeah, because we're talking about it. I could see like, yes, you reaction. She reacts, but like when you're reacting, not like you're being Taylor. No, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:26:57 But like, we could all work on our reactions a little bit. Yeah, me. And she's like, it's so emotional. And like, me too, I'll always start crying. Like, it's not a good luck. I really need to work on that. But no. But no.
Starting point is 00:27:10 But no. Anyways, congratulations to Laird. I hope you crush it. Break a leg. And I hope somebody's there with like a high quality camera. All these iconic performances, like at the Mac Gala that never gets shown. Seriously, what's the point?
Starting point is 00:27:21 Celebrities don't even care. Yeah. But literally no one's going to be seated for Taylor's performance because they're all like jealous and hate her and like they're going to be in the bathroom with the Kardashians like smoking cigarettes. I wonder which Kardashians will go like definitely
Starting point is 00:27:30 Kylie and Timothy. Definitely Kylie and definitely Kim and Lewis. Oh, Lewis. Definitely Kim like because she fancies herself an actress now and like this is a huge affair. True. But also the Kardashians like just go to every major event in Los Angeles.
Starting point is 00:27:42 And they're not scared and they're showing up with their sisters and they have like the industry at their back. Everybody's friends with them like they're so their hometown. Powerful. But so is Taylor. But for some reason she runs scared. Like why doesn't she? she still go to the mech galas.
Starting point is 00:27:54 She went for so long. She was on the board. It was only after all the drama that she stopped going. But like, what are you? I don't think she's afraid of something, like, because she's not. Right. And I do think a lot of times Taylor's just genuinely too famous to go to places. Like, Beyonce, actually, Taylor could take a note out of Beyonce's book.
Starting point is 00:28:10 Beyonce goes nowhere. And that's so good for her image. Like, she's not going to the VMAs. Like, she's too cool for that. Like, she would never. And I think, like, Taylor sometimes shows up to things that she shouldn't show up to. But then she doesn't go to things that she should go to. Like, Beyonce still every couple of years goes to the me.
Starting point is 00:28:23 Why doesn't she go to the MacGala? What is the reason? Well, I think she's a lot of McAlla Trauma. Of course, like, getaway car. Like, that's where she met Tom Hiddleston. That's not a reason. No, no, no. I'm not going to this amazing party anymore because I one time met a guy that I really
Starting point is 00:28:34 liked. And it's an important sort of chapter in her story. I don't know why, especially because it's like a big thing for like big athletes too, like Tom Brady and Giselle always. I don't know why she hasn't gone. Maybe now that she's married. Maybe she will. And I think a lot of times, of course, scheduling conflicts with the Erestor or whatever.
Starting point is 00:28:51 Maybe now. No, something. There's tea. Maybe she has beef with Anna. It's not just that she's like a free, it's Kardashian turf. Well, yeah, and there also were many years where not only was she like Met Gala Queen, but she was also like Queen of Vogue. She was on the September issue, like two years and around one time with Carly Clause. Like you're like a darling of Condé Nast.
Starting point is 00:29:06 Yeah, and now it's only like Kim, Kylie and Kendall who go. Yeah, Chloe didn't have fun and Courtney hated her outfit. And you know what? I hated it too. Yeah. So I don't know. I think it's just about that. I think there might be drama behind the scenes. Like outside of the Kardashians. The Taylor and Anna. Yeah, or sometimes, like, I feel like Demi Lovato has spoken about the fact, like, she got to go to the Mech Allen.
Starting point is 00:29:27 It's like, yeah, so cool. But she had the worst time. She felt like everyone was staring at her. Like, she felt so insecure. She felt so out of place. She never went back. Like, sometimes you just don't like it. But Taylor likes it, yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:36 And she went so many times. Yeah. And you can't say the same thing. No. Someone should look into that. I feel like Lily Reinhard also went and, like, hated it and talked shit about it. But I feel like Lily Reinhart's kind of had a lobotomy. Don't you feel that?
Starting point is 00:29:47 Like I feel like the Lily Reinhart, we know now, is so different than the Lily Reinhard who got famous with Riverdale. Because she was kind of, like, radical. She was, like, always, like, against the institution. And, like, she didn't want to be too skinny and, like, pretty. Yeah, and, like, she hated that Kim wore, like, a corset that made her look skinny. And she was, like, a very, like, an anti-establishment celebrity. And I feel like that didn't work for her. And now she's just like, yeah, I'm...
Starting point is 00:30:07 I'm all in line. I'm pretty. And here's a pretty dress. Yeah. And I'm a woman in a rom-com. Yeah. Yeah. I feel like I could see her now, like, regretting having said those things about the Met Gala.
Starting point is 00:30:18 Yeah. Because I don't think that gets you invited back, like saying negative things. No, she's honest. She has closed her mouth a bit. No, I'm telling you, she's had a change of heart. Maybe it's just, like, growing up. Like, you get famous at a young age and, like, you're a lot to change your mind about things. But I feel like she's so different than the gal that we once knew.
Starting point is 00:30:31 Maybe, or maybe, like, she started her career suffered because I, of course. It's just like when you're, like, when you're always just, like, mouthing off about something. Like, you're always complaining. Like, I don't like, and you're very familiar. coming for other women too. And it's all in the spirit of like womanhood. It's like, okay, well, stop coming for everyone. Like, what did she come at Kim for?
Starting point is 00:30:48 Oh, for doing like a crash diet on the Marilyn Manson, Marilyn Manson. Marilyn Monroe dress. It's like, okay. Yeah. Maybe it's just like. Well, who's skinny? Oh, so part of growing up is like not everything you think and feel has to be said. On a platform.
Starting point is 00:31:02 Like, it just doesn't have. You don't have to say everything that you think. Like, and so maybe she just is saying less or it affected her career. Nobody wanted. I don't know. Or she just grew up. Like, sometimes you get famous at a young age. and you're like a young radical.
Starting point is 00:31:14 I don't think she grew out of it. I just want to say. You know, I think she's like wearing it was inconvenient. That pink dress and she's going home and burning it. Yeah, like the girl who is like doing this love hypothesis press store, wearing all these iconic being like so like. All these movies where women are just like. Getting all this attention based off of her looks.
Starting point is 00:31:28 And all these movies that don't pass the bechal test. She would never back in the day. She's burning them when she gets home. I'm telling you. I'm telling you she hasn't changed. But like I don't like change or don't change. Yeah. It didn't bother me.
Starting point is 00:31:38 I like the movie. Yeah. I like the love hypothesis. And like I'm sorry that, but you are pretty. I'm sorry that happened to you. Stop hiding it. That reminds me of my favorite. Oh, add it's a list of phrases that I love
Starting point is 00:31:48 is when boy George said to chopperone, the world is at your feet. Stop kicking it. Phrases, good terms and phrases. Oh, do we have a list like that already? Yes, we do. So add, it's not a bug, it's not a feature. Okay.
Starting point is 00:32:01 Oh, no. It's a feature, not a bug. Stealing Peter to pay Paul. Robbing Peter to pay Paul. What did I say? That's what I said. and then The world is out your feet.
Starting point is 00:32:16 Stop kicking it. I don't think that's a phrase. I think that's a Boy George original. I think so too. All phrases got to start somewhere. Would you like to know your other favorite? Yeah, what else do we put on that? So there are a couple things.
Starting point is 00:32:26 Is Fla Bert on there? No, but there are a couple different ones, like using words as an adjective, like a Rachel Dolazol. You like that. Oh, yeah, we should, Rachel Dolazol is all more. The call is coming from inside the house. Well, that one has gained like a lot of popularity.
Starting point is 00:32:41 Yes, it's, I think when we edit it, to the list. It was underrated and now it's pretty rated. We all have a role to play in the war to come. I love that one. Love that. Don't interrupt your enemy when he's making a mistake. That is a great phrase. Critical. Another adjective, Sparky Plastry. We do not use Sparky Plastry as a verb enough. Yep. Then some other additions is the blank in the room. This is under a section. This is old. This is old. When people started saying that on the internet it was such a good people being like don't i look so glab and someone's like is the glamour in the room with us like now it's overplayed but i remember saying i wanted to like start saying it
Starting point is 00:33:20 more because when i would see people saying it online i thought it was really fun and we do i think we said it and no it's been beat to death was achieved yes agreed um multitude of sins and then history is written by the victors that's a chilling one when you think about it and then like another enter and then just eating crow dark that's the list Okay, another day, another list. Another day, another list. Are you ready for our next story? Megan Markle was spotted out to dinner with Malala.
Starting point is 00:33:50 You're kidding me. GNO. GNO, Megan and Malala in... One thing about Malala, she's going to show up where you least expect her, too. Like, the fact that she's like a women's rights activist who was shot in the face is just merely like a small fact about her. Because she's also just like a girl. I think she went to the Erez tour. Like, you obviously wouldn't expect to see Malala Yusuf at the Ares tour, but it's like, why not? She's just a girl.
Starting point is 00:34:10 Of course not. The girl who wants to enjoy her girlhood. Right, and whose girlhood was like literally almost taken from her. Yes, of course. And like the point is to go to the Erestor. No, of course. And I don't know why I just like put her in a box of like serious young women. She's only 29. And it's like, where would a 29 year old? The Erestore. Yeah. I don't know if she went to the Erestore, but I'm using that as like, she's always like going places.
Starting point is 00:34:29 I'm like, yeah. At first I'm like, oh, that's weird. I'm like, wait. No, it's not. Like it's literally just Malala. Like she's just a girl. Like enjoying her freedom. Yeah, literally. And she took her freedom to meet up with Megan Markle. And you know what? London. They went to the foyer and reading room at Claridge's, the famed hotel in London's Mayfair, Mayfairhood. It was a catch-up between friends, is what a source tells me. Is it? Well, Malala's 29. I didn't know that. Obviously, she has
Starting point is 00:34:53 a maturity beyond her years. And it's like funny because to me, she's like 100, but also 17. Because like she's famous or known for the thing that happened to her when she was a young girl, but she's such a serious activist that I'm like, okay, but she's also 50. Yeah, no, but she's 29 and Megan's 45. So sort of unlikely friends but not really No I would say unlikely friends Okay okay I mean they both like Megan Is about women right like she's always
Starting point is 00:35:16 She shares that video about the dishwashing pods Megan is about women that's a good point Do you know the dishwashing pod story? Of course I do when she wrote in She wrote a letter to like the Canadian dishwashing company That was like doing commercials for their dishwasher like soap And Megan was mad that like the only people in the commercials Doing dishes were women
Starting point is 00:35:32 And like sorry that they accurately reflected culture Because I've never seen my husband do the dishes marketed to people who use their product because I respect the message. And if you saw a commercial of like man doing dishes like I wouldn't buy that soap actually. You'd obviously say like that product isn't for me. It's inferior. No, no, no. If I actually saw like a commercial for dishwashing pods and it was all men doing the dishes, I would say
Starting point is 00:35:54 okay, obviously this company is inferior like their soap can't even be used by men because I've seen my husband do the dishes. So you're telling me he's using the soap? I wouldn't use it. No, and I would say like oh so then men who do dishes will buy that soap. Right. And you'll have zero customers. Good luck with yourselves. But she is, she's woman, you know, female founder, confessional. Yes. So I see where they probably talked a lot about women.
Starting point is 00:36:16 Yeah. And just like, I feel like they are in the same world of like. Definitely. Upper echelon, they're also like. Upper echelon activist, philanthropist. And I wouldn't even call it like her a celebrity. Yeah, right. Top tier.
Starting point is 00:36:29 Yeah. I hope they had fun. You think they had cocktails? You think about all the drinks? For sure. I mean, why not? A little. When you've been shot in the face, I feel like there's nothing you won't do.
Starting point is 00:36:39 Malala totally knows. She has like a Nogroni, you know? Oh, you think so? Thousand percent. I think Megan has a white wine. Oh, Megan is so sanchetti. And I just feel like whenever you're, if there's two people out to dinner, like you split. Like you drink the same thing.
Starting point is 00:36:54 Oh, about what she's having. Yeah. Even though, yeah. Like, I'm not drinking white wine and you're drinking tequila. Unless we're both doing cocktails. Unless you're going out with me and it's like, I don't care what you're having. I'm getting the same thing no matter what. Yeah, like I'm not a sharer.
Starting point is 00:37:07 Oh, you're getting a... Laudia. You have such a wild side that everyone should get to know. You sing and you dance at any place we go. Can't we just see my big sis Olivia tonight? Are you, oh, you are seeing her. Of course you are. Chabat.
Starting point is 00:37:22 So, cute. Cute, girls night. Our next story is a little podcasting news. I just saw this coming in. Is it about the Golden Globes? No, it's about our fellow Golden Globes nominee, Rogan has renewed another nine-figure Spotify deal. You're kidding.
Starting point is 00:37:39 Is this his third one? So I think so. The relationship started in 2020, and they are extending that relationship under the agreement. Spotify will continue to handle ad sales and licensing for Joe Rogan, which is available across multiple services. Terms have not been disclosed. You know what? Everybody tries to keep their numbers under wraps, and nobody does. I feel like the Gigli Squad number wasn't released and then like insiders came out and shared.
Starting point is 00:38:02 Joe Rogan's like never really get released. No, they do. when it's he's estimated and the giggly swab was a similar thing where it's like they didn't say he this is it but it's the streets right the streets say an estimated earn out of 250 million dollars over the term that was I think I think his last year was 250 and then the first one was like 100 yeah and his new deal is similar to the one that was 250 that's what you know he might be the first podcasting billionaire he's on he's trending yeah oh and Spotify is this new thing not new but where you can see um because like
Starting point is 00:38:34 you can't really see how many people listen to a podcast. Like so a lot of people like look like they have a little listeners. Maybe they don't or a lot of people don't have looked like they have all listeners and they do. And yeah, like on Spotify you can see. That's the only platform that it give you metrics like 50K. 3 million, 1 million, 2 million plus 1 million plus 2 million. Like almost all of his episodes, this one for Andrew Huberman, 4 million. The Luke Holmes on is 7 million.
Starting point is 00:38:56 So it's like I don't know how many podcasters are at that level. No. Those are insane numbers. Insane numbers to sustain. Over so long, Spotify said of him, Joe has built something incredibly enduring and his show continues to resonate with a massive global audience because there's simply nothing else like it. And you know what else is that I feel like when Spotify wanted to enter the podcast game because we now, like every time I listen to a podcast, I listen to it on Spotify. Back in the day, like that really wasn't the case. So they made this like concerted effort to start like snatching up shows.
Starting point is 00:39:25 And Joe was the first one they snatched up. And I feel like probably they're most successful. Of course. In terms of getting people to switch like to do because people listen to Joe Rogan like listen to a lot of podcasts. So like, no, but it was kind of smart because it was only on Spotify for years. Now it's on Apple again, but it doesn't even matter. People are accustomed to listening on Spotify. Yeah, but I'm saying like the type of people he brought to Spotify, like are people
Starting point is 00:39:43 who probably listen to a lot of Kuberman and all the, Tim Dillon. And so now they ended up listening to all of their podcasts on Spotify. And I feel like if I'm at Spotify, yeah, give him whatever he wants. Yeah, they said Spotify's podcast business has grown alongside JRE over the years. I'm excited to keep building on that partnership for years come. Yeah, like talk about delivering in your partnership. Yeah. I feel jealous, of course.
Starting point is 00:40:03 $250 million is just like, like, I actually feel no amount of money is like enough for me, but that really, and then of course I have to split it with you. Well, I've heard that $200 million like is the sweet spot. For net worth. I don't know, maybe like a reels or something. For a net worth? For a net worth. Because like any higher and you're a monster and like it's not real and you're not like living.
Starting point is 00:40:23 You're just out of touch, obviously. Obviously. But $200 million, you get everything you want. And enjoy it. Yes. But you can also lose $200 million. And I think like the threat of being able to go broke, not. It should keep you sharp.
Starting point is 00:40:37 Humble, a fat, hardworking, 100%. I don't think Elon Musk could go broke if he wanted to. You know what I mean? And that's threatening. Yeah, but Elon is different even from other like billionaire. He doesn't even have a home. Oh yeah. He's one of those Shailene Woodley type.
Starting point is 00:40:54 Sorry, Jeff Bezos. Let's say Jeff Bezos. Yeah, yeah. That just want to say, I know I've said this once and I'll say it again. Will never be me. No, I know. They say, like, if I win the lottery, I won't say, but there will be signs. And I just want to say about Joseph, though, of course, you know, Green with envy over his deal.
Starting point is 00:41:12 Like, it's also so great what he does for, like, that. For fellow podcasters. For fellow podcasters that, like, he sets the bar and then he also meets it. Like, some people get a huge deal and they don't deliver, and then those huge deals don't go out of it. They'll come to other podcasters. You know what I mean? And he also, like, lifts up a lot of other podcasters on his show. Like, he's doing good.
Starting point is 00:41:32 work in the industry. It's true. It's good for the medium. He is the medium. Well, obviously, I am jealous. I am extremely happy for you, Joe. You did it, Joe. We did it, Joe. We didn't do anything. We did it. Are you ready for our next story? If it's our next story, that's brought to you by Built. Here's a question. Starting point is 00:46:30 say except yet welcome? Our next story Crazy Rich Asians is returning for an HBO sequel series with original stars. So Crazy Rich Asians, the beloved movie. The best movie ever made to watch on a plane. Is officially receiving a sequel series on HBO. A lot of the main characters are reprising their roles from the film, Constance Wu,
Starting point is 00:46:52 and Henry Golding are coming back as Rachel Chu and Nick Young and Ronnie Chang and Michelle Yo are also reprising their role. So Ronnie is the cousin Eddie and Michelle is the mother-in-law. I love this. I'm like, like, I hate sequels. I hate when people like don't let sleeping dogs lie. But this movie is so good. And yeah, sure.
Starting point is 00:47:11 And Constance Wu, like, I'm cheering for her. Like, she got canceled just for like being a bitch, you know? And it's like, okay. Who hasn't been? Stuck to her. Yeah, I know. I feel like she was really treated unfairly. Like, I'm sure she was a bitch.
Starting point is 00:47:22 Like, okay, it's literally not a crime. Like, I'm just. so over it. And I feel like she had like a concerted effort a few years ago to like come back and like it didn't really stick either. And I kind of feel bad for her. Like I don't remember what she did, but I just remember it being like not that bad. I don't remember exactly.
Starting point is 00:47:35 But yeah, it was just like being mean. Yeah. Classic stuff. But maybe she just wasn't at a place in her career where she could like withstand those allegations. She still needed like new parts and like took her favor. And nobody wanted to work with her. And nobody wanted to work with her. So it does feel like more than that because like I guess like the public was the one who canceled
Starting point is 00:47:51 her. But like if the industry has your back like you'll. No, it felt like. like industry. The public doesn't care. No, it felt like she got kind of like blackballed. Yeah, the public doesn't care. Right. What happened on your set really, like when she was mean. And it's like, I think on a subconscious level, we know that every single celebrity is like a nasty little bitch. And it's like some have better ways of hiding it. It's true. And like plenty of people like J. Lo and Mariah Carey have like those diva and we love it. And it's just like, excuse me, Naomi Campbell through a cell phone
Starting point is 00:48:15 at her assistant's face. Like it's just part of their brand. A hundred percent. And I think it was more industry than anything else because the public really doesn't care like that on your set she barked in order for her lunch like it's such a like when I really think about it at a glen she was on that show fresh off the boat with randall park it was so popular oh good and then crazy rich Asians and it was like literally what happened to her hustlers hustlers that was like a good role for her but didn't stick not a lot of momentum meanwhile a lot of people from the original movie have gone on to do big things Michelle yo wicked John mchu the director Oh, is Crazy Rich Asians, John, I'm Chia.
Starting point is 00:48:54 You know what? I see, like, the wicked vibe in, like, the way that the visual of the Crazy Chasian's movie is. Love this. Like, I don't know what the premise is. Maybe it's like their kids having, like, a... So it's going to be eight episodes delve into the characters in the worlds of Kevin Kwan's books. So I think there are sequel books. Oh, you know what?
Starting point is 00:49:12 There are sequel books. Yeah. So they get to work a bit. And John M. Chu is coming back. It's already written. And it's not going to be bad. It can't be bad. I would actually love another movie.
Starting point is 00:49:21 I don't know why. they're going to do maybe just serieses are more profitable than movies these days yeah why not a crazy which asian sequel especially there's like there's like a running joke on the internet that like when you get on a plane like the first thing you have to do is put on crazy occasions it has like a resurgence with a younger
Starting point is 00:49:36 audience too I think there's like it would be such a good time to do a movie I agree it must be more profitable to do a series like the movies just aren't what they used to be and a lot of books don't have sequels so like when they make a sequel out of a book like it's like okay you're just making shit up but like Game of Thrones famously had like a million books and that was done really well.
Starting point is 00:49:53 So when books have sequels and then the sequels also get turned Twilight. No, one of my goals in life has been to learn mahjong so I could finally understand what happened in that final scene between Rachel and the mother-in-law when like she obviously did something
Starting point is 00:50:06 very gracious towards the mother-in-law and letting her win. So Rachel had mahjong, but she didn't call it. Call it because she knew the piece that the mom needed. So she waited until she got the piece and literally gave it to her and then walked away and showed her tiles being like,
Starting point is 00:50:19 I'd mahjong the whole time, but like I let you win. And I let you think. that you won. Because she was walking away from the relationship. Yeah, she was walking away. I need to watch it. And I guess the piece was the boy. The sign. It's like you win, but because I let you win. Exactly. I have to watch it now. Yeah, chills. A truly beautiful metaphor. Culturally relevant, beautiful. Oh, I really should watch it again. Like all the it. It's just such a good movie. It really is. Aquafina. So this is going to be great. Love,
Starting point is 00:50:48 I approve. And you know, I hate when people can't come out of the original ideas. But you know what? I'm okay with this one. But this isn't even, like, them excavating something that, like, there's more books. The movie was huge. Great. Yeah. Are you ready for our next, our fifth and final story? I am.
Starting point is 00:51:02 Karen Reed series has been ordered at Amazon starring. Karen is Karen Reed? Elizabeth Banks says Karen Reed. Oh. I mean, why not? It took me second to, like, place Elizabeth Banks. At first time you were going to say Elizabeth Olson. And I was excited about that.
Starting point is 00:51:20 I don't know why. I can't see Elizabeth. at things doing like a good job at anything serious. Like she's so like, you know? Well, so is Karen Reed, right? Karen Reed, but like it's such a serious story. Like she was accused of murder.
Starting point is 00:51:31 No, and Karen Reid is not. She's like a tough Boston cookie. Like, she's crazy. She's intense, though. She's like the character. No, intense is a perfect word. But serious. As far as we know her in her public life.
Starting point is 00:51:42 Yeah. Amazon video has ordered the scripted Karen Reed series starring an executive produced by Elizabeth Banks. It'll be eight episodes, drama. Okay. Inspired by Law and Crime and Audible.
Starting point is 00:52:00 Oh, it's based on a podcast. Oh, I guess Amazon also had probably an original podcast about it. The Law and Crime and Audible original podcast, Karen. Karen, that's a good name. That's a good name for the show, too. Yeah. Okay. Not to be confused with that movie.
Starting point is 00:52:14 Karen with Taryn Manning. From Crossroads. I get clips of that movie sometimes. as like not in the way I get clips of girl in the basement. Oh, okay. I meant to tell you, the movie I'm currently watching on Reels is Girl in the Basement, which is based on a true story. It's chilling.
Starting point is 00:52:29 With the father? The father. And the kids. It's disgusting. And the kids they brought upstairs. I've seen it on Reels. Oh my God. That movie was very upsetting.
Starting point is 00:52:35 She finally goes to the nurse and keeps walking. And she's running. I also didn't know because I watched it. I'm like, oh, this is an Oscar nominated movie. It's a lifetime movie. Do you know that? Of course. A lot of Reels movies are.
Starting point is 00:52:44 Oh, I didn't know that. I didn't know that. I hadn't hit that side. Like the high drama storyline, and they only have to find the best bit. They're ripe for like a straight to Reels movie. Karen, the movie. With Taryn Manning. Was a crazy time.
Starting point is 00:53:03 A thousand percent. So Karen Read the story or Karen Taryn Manning. We'll see which is better. Karen Manning. And that sort of ended her career. She's had an interesting career. No, it didn't end her career. She like comes and goes.
Starting point is 00:53:17 She was literally from Crossroads for a decade. Then she just came and got a role on Orange and New Black, which I think gave us a bit of a resurgence. But then she disappeared for a little bit. Then she came back for that one random movie, Karen, and I haven't seen her since. No, that movie Karen is career ending, as it should be. I look forward to seeing what she does next in a few years. But in the meantime, Elizabeth Banks is playing Karen Reid.
Starting point is 00:53:40 I think I will continue to ignore the story in general. I may watch it. As I did during the trial. And, you know, you just can't take everything on. You really can't. Time for Queenie and Weenie of the Week. Yes. Obviously, the Queenies are the nominees to be.
Starting point is 00:53:56 I didn't want to say it. But obviously. Yeah, and I would say that the weenies are everybody else on the list because good luck thinking you're going to beat us. And the Queenies are obviously the Golden Globes for recognizing us and like seeing in us what we do see on ourselves. And you know what? I would say also for the Golden Globes for taking a chance on us.
Starting point is 00:54:13 Because obviously, like, we should be nominated for everything all the time. A lot of people are afraid. We don't get nominated. And then they all go from like the same list of like, oh, the four podcasts, whatever. And thank you for taking a chance and like recognizing us. And it takes such like critical thinking skills, honestly. Like the first one to be like though. Nobody wants to be the first.
Starting point is 00:54:33 Nobody wants to be the first. Golden Globes, Queenie. That video you were telling me about the girl. And then, yeah, weanies will be. Our losers. The losers. Not us. It won't be us.
Starting point is 00:54:44 Because even if we don't win, we're winners, baby. We're winners. Thank you guys. Have an amazing day. We'll see you on Monday. Love you. Bye. And here, the Mona Lisa, gaze into Mona's eyes in perfect health with no undiagnosed problems and her optic nerve in excellent condition. Anyone here got eyes like Mona? Mine are brownish.
