Starting point is 00:00:00 Good morning, Millennials! Welcome back to the Toast and happy Monday, girly swirlies, entering gargy-pargy fall. Hey Jax, how ya durn? I'm durn good and you're right about that, Turdy, because we are technically entering fall this week as we rev up to September 21st. Like, technically it's still summer, even though it's so not. It's a weird time of year and, like, I want to meet the man. I do feel like the astronomers got this one wrong. Yeah I want to meet the man who like created Labor Day and decided that was going to be
Starting point is 00:00:30 the very last day of summer because we seriously have three weeks after and how we all as a society let like the government take away three weeks of summer from us. It's so true. We're being robbed. We're being robbed and we're so happy about it. We're like summer is summer and then we all we all get back to work and we're like we need fall to start. We need why robbed and we're so happy about it. We're like, summer is summer. And then we all get back to work and we're like, we need fall to start. We need, why?
Starting point is 00:00:46 It's literally still summer vacation. No, it's just a coping mechanism to cope with the three weeks that were taken. It's a coping mechanism. How are you doing, Turtle Lou? I mean, you know that there's something like really major going on in my life right now. I'm sorry we're recording about 30 minutes late. in my life right now. I am sorry. We're recording about 30 minutes late. I, I feel happy obviously like about like finally receiving a diagnosis for my tushy. I feel scared at, you know, the possibility that this is a lifelong thing I've developed. And let me just grab my phone
Starting point is 00:01:17 because I obviously forgot what it was called. Um, yeah, I've been diagnosed. I've been diagnosed. And I knew it was my coccyx. I knew it was my coccyx. And it's coccydynia. Oh, not coccydynia. And I just really want everyone to respect my privacy at this time. I need to know what coccydynia entails. Like, I want the actual coccydynia. I also looked up, like, a definition of it. And then the doctor also told me about it
Starting point is 00:01:45 and I feel like they weren't really... It didn't represent? Do you think you got a misdiagnosis? No, because it's exactly what it is. Like I have coccydynia, but I don't know. It feels like everybody's sort of clowning on coccydynia and not taking it seriously
Starting point is 00:01:58 when they don't understand the pain that I am in and the pain that I have been in. Well, I'm Googling it and already the erasure of coccydynia is there because everything comes up as cocksackie, which is hand, foot, and mouth. No, I'm Googling it and already the erasure of coccidinia is there because everything comes up as coccisacchi, which is hand, foot and mouth. No, I don't have coccisacchi. I'm so glad. No, like I searched coccidinia show and it says showing results for coccisacchi. Oh my God. Once again, the coccidinia community is being silenced. They might need a voice like yours. I want to, I don't even know whether to be happy like there really are no treatment
Starting point is 00:02:27 options like you can get steroids injected into your bones like I'm not doing that okay like I'll just stop what is coccidinia it is a sensitivity of your coccyx which is your bone like that's literally like your tail it's by the way it's pelvic floor they did say like pelvic floor exercises like can help but for a lot of people it remedies itself on its remedies itself on its wait yeah on its own yeah remedies itself on its own that's a weird sentence um remedies itself that has not been the case for me it's been how long have I been complaining about my tissue I feel like we're going on a year I feel like it really revved up in the spring of what year this year. So like hard six months of tissue complaints. That's what I think.
Starting point is 00:03:08 Well, I think we've all been to a place where like we get misdiagnosed and to have a diagnosis is really, it's empowering. And I'm happy to be the face of coccidinia. And if there's a pharmaceutical company out there that's looking for a face for their coccidinia medication, although there is none,
Starting point is 00:03:22 therein lies the issue. I am happy to like jog in a field on a commercial. I'm sorry, like not to, I support you. You know that. Oh, you're, I could, by the way, I could tell in the group checks this morning, you like weren't happy for me when I got my, and you really haven't been there.
Starting point is 00:03:35 You really haven't been there for me during my coccidinia journey. I feel like you won't let me be there for you. You're pushing me away. Classic stuff. You're kind of like just getting into your coccidinia community and you don't want to talk to people who don't have it it's hard to talk to people yeah it's
Starting point is 00:03:50 hard to people talk to people who don't relate and not only that who I know like think that I'm being hypochondriac and dramatic that's not what I was gonna say and I'm jealous because you don't have a diagnosis for your tissue problem no I and if it requires me like making an appointment and going to the doctor like you did, like I'll just, I'm sat here with my painful tissue. But I do know we don't have the same thing. So like you're on your own journey. And again, if you just let me say what I was going to say, I feel like coccitinia sounds like, like Genovia, like a fake place, a fake disease, but like a really good effort at naming it right like I said you haven't been there for me in my coccidinia journey from the second I've been diagnosed and
Starting point is 00:04:31 look like she's not even trying to hide it she's so jealous you guys well no I am here for you whatever you want to do if you want to stand while we do the toast and we it would literally look like a debate I I love it. If we need to get like walking desks, like whatever the doctor says, I'm right there with you. And I will, I'll stand in solitude, literally. He didn't really give me a treatment plan,
Starting point is 00:04:55 which was annoying because I thought I was going to go into the doctor's office today and like come out healed. He said like the next step would be an MRI. And I just feel like that's really crazy. Like, like I'm all for, you know, the bit, but having an MRI for my tushy problems, like feel like that's really crazy like like I'm all for you know the bit but having an MRI for my tushy problems like I think that's crazy I think it's too far yeah like me like me
Starting point is 00:05:12 and my coccidinia we walk alone yeah until like unless things get much worse I feel like at the level you're at now like you're now you're managing your pain like you're being so strong so strong and let's see what happens you don't always have to like make a decision immediately no no it's so true um so I just want to thank everyone who's been there for me during my coccidinia journey thus far not you but everyone else like because you won't let me be you want me to not be there for you you're just pushing everyone away because you want you want to go through it on your own you want to know why it's because you don't want to burden anyone. To my, to my coccidinous swirlies, like this
Starting point is 00:05:48 invisible illness will not stop us. Okay. It won't. And neither will the jealousy of our peers. I'm here for you, Claudia. I don't know how many more times I have to tell you. Well, it's one thing to say it and it's another thing to act it out. I said I would stand for you that's major yeah but you knew that I wouldn't ever do that so it's easy you wouldn't take me up on it how was your weekend like so good to be back feels like it was a long weekend it was a long weekend I feel like I got so much out of the weekend so many different like buckets were checked one major highlight of my weekend is that we went to Disney on Ice on Saturday which is kind of like like this thing you and Olivia
Starting point is 00:06:30 have been doing a lot this isn't your first time at Disney on Ice it was my first time because they went in in like Q1 of this year but Charlie was still kind of little and I didn't think it was right for him to go so I stayed home with him and Olivia went and Harry and Zach and Kayla and Levi and they loved it. And then I was like, oh, darn, I wonder. And was Olivia and Zach Weinreb, your husband, the two that loved Disney parks? Yes. OK, so like they have been.
Starting point is 00:06:58 They are the Disney adults. OK, for sure. So I knew that whenever they came back around like I wanted to take Charlie I felt like he was really ready and if you are considering taking your one-year-old like he loved it Disney on Ice was in Crayob let me just say it's quite a feat to like do all that on ice it is and I have so many questions like I need a Disney on Ice documentary because like who are these people like are they people who like trained to be figure skaters and didn't quite make the olympics like how are they so skilled in skating but also have like a musical theater interest and background they're not just like
Starting point is 00:07:32 you know hockey players who didn't make it because they're like singing and dancing i don't think that they are olympians who didn't make it like that's what i mean that's just my honest opinion um but you're right like are they are they dancers by trade are they figure skaters by trade right are they dancers who needed to learn how to skate in order to join the troop or did they figure skate a lot growing up maybe with olympic dreams and instead they're doing disney on ice like i need to know how they got here and what their trade is and also like did they have to i don't i don't feel like you could learn this amount of skating just to get the job of Disney on ice.
Starting point is 00:08:09 Like I feel like you have to be a train skater because like they're doing triple loops. The most, yeah. The most. And what I realized with my keen eye is that every, so they do segments of like movies and then there's like the star Moana and then all the background singers and dancers.
Starting point is 00:08:23 And I'm pretty sure every background singer and dancer is the star of one sketch. Like you would see someone who played like- Yeah, like they all carry equal weight. And they all have their big moment, which I was glad for, because like someone's a village person here, and next he's Simba. No, it's giving ensemble. Yeah, and then at the end, all the main characters come out, and you see, oh wow, we really, we worked through everyone.
Starting point is 00:08:44 How long was the entire show? It was a little long. There was an intermission. I think. Snacks? It's at the. Arena. Arena where the Panthers play.
Starting point is 00:08:56 So yeah. Like everything's open. Everything's open. And you can bring snacks. Of course. Yeah. So it was snacks about, you've got to,
Starting point is 00:09:04 you've got to bring snacks I would love to talk to somebody um like from the sanitation department at an arena like is the what's the messiest group to clean up after like is it a concert full of drunks or is it a daytime activity full of kids I think it's the ravers like yeah because they like take dumps you know yeah like people who roll for concerts and they like shit on the floor and like they can't control their bodies but that doesn't happen in a lot of arenas raves like it happens more in fields yes but also if there's like a dj you might you might yeah i don't know it just depends like what level of rave girl you are. I know you're a 10 out of 10 rave girl.
Starting point is 00:09:46 I mean, me and my coccidinia, like my rave days are over. I feel like you got coccidinia at rave girl. If you knew anything about the disease, you know that it's not contagious. But once again, she knows nothing because she's not here for me. Is it developed or are you born with it? I feel like you're not adequately describing it um you're you're born with it it's kind of lives in you always and it's like you have flare-ups seriously it's like it's like psoriasis it lives in you it lives in me it does it doesn't live in
Starting point is 00:10:19 you I don't know what lives in me but I don't think it's not coccidinia. I, that doesn't ring true. I'm learning to live with coccidinia. This pillow has really helped. I got my pillow. I left it downstairs. Tomorrow's another day. We'll try again tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:10:37 Plus I didn't want to like take away from your, your big announcement. It's a big day for me. How was your weekend? Otherwise just chock full of really I hit all the bars you know all the bars. I hit all the the buckets. Yeah Friday night we hosted a Shabbat dinner which we haven't done like with for like friends since our we moved into our new apartment. It was really nice. Ben cooked literally a feast. I was like actually embarrassed to have
Starting point is 00:10:59 all these like people over in my house and they were like oh my god like none of it was me yeah none of it um what did I do Saturday oh Ben golfed oh I went to Soto Method she opened on the Upper East Side yay that was like huge and then Ben came back from golfing oh and we went out to dinner with the Taylors and Brian you know a meeting of the minds we had to get the gang back together um and we went to a new restaurant called Corner Store. I guess there's like been this Dos Caminos on the corner of West Broadway and Houston Street. Like it has been there. People have, I think in the industry, hospitality, have been waiting for this Dos Caminos to go out. Cause it's like, it's on the same block as Siddell's. It's like a very trendy block with like art galleries, the best restaurants. It's like the most expensive block in the city. And there's
Starting point is 00:11:42 like randomly this Dos Caminos that nobody ever eats at on the prime corner. And I think that everybody in the hospitality industry has been waiting for this Dos Caminos to go out of business. Finally went out of business and they opened a new restaurant called Corner Store because it's on the corner. That's where we went. It was delicious. Like the drinks were so good. The food was so good. It was sceny. Like everyone was out and about for the new restaurant. It was just like classic New York stuff. Ben was on the Patreon with me. We podcasted together and he was telling me how you guys were going to corner store and that he had been the night before classic well what do I say I'm in this group chat we're trying to plan a dinner and I'm a planner that's what I do and everyone's like coming up with times what
Starting point is 00:12:18 day works for you Brian's this Taylor's that I said okay we'll go Saturday night like eight o'clock where should we go and I like, I've gotten us this far. I'm like, Ben, you're the guy. Like, you know, the restaurants, you're the restaurant foodie. Like me, you may, and Ben has all the connects too. Like if we want the best table at the best time, Ben's got to make the reservation. So I say, Ben, it's on you. What does Ben do?
Starting point is 00:12:37 Nothing. So a couple of days later, I'm like, all right, we still don't have a reservation. I made a reservation. A pretty good one, mind you, at a different restaurant. And then Ben on Thursday night goes out with his friends and he texts me this place is amazing we have to go i'm like i literally just made a reservation for saturday night but now sure now we did end up going with ben's reservation and he was right yeah well next time just wait and see you recorded a patreon with ben tell me a little bit more about that oh it was fun we did the quiz like how well do I know men which you have to listen to understand what happened next because you had to be there which I know you know I know
Starting point is 00:13:12 and if you don't listen like just head over to patreon.com slash your toast and then I just got to catch up with Ben which was really fun we were sharing some recipe ideas talking about what we were gonna do this weekend and I was like oh I'm doing something fun. And that turned out to be Disney on ice. And then we had some birthday party yesterday. I redid my play area in my house, which I'm just jazzed about. That was, that's really been a highlight.
Starting point is 00:13:36 You kind of nailed, I think a lot of women worry, will they have to sacrifice their interior decor for motherhood? And the answer is yes. The answer is yes, by the way. And I think the more that you fight it the harder it is but I think that you sort of as of late have mastered
Starting point is 00:13:51 this age-old question this this yin and yang this push and pull I I found a pretty good solution for not having like a dedicated playroom where like our living area is our playroom like I found a pretty good solution for like containing the beast of the toys um and it just is what it is but yeah if you're if you're trying to fight it all the time like then you're going to be disappointed because you have to embrace the toys you just do embrace the chaos but I think that most moms do because the toys bring so much joy like who's really a toy hater? Probably Hamas. Probably. Yeah. They're going to put a tunnel under the toy.
Starting point is 00:14:29 Right. Just a guess. Classic them. There's actually a lot going on in the Patreon. So the episode Jackie's referring to is a series we started last month where we each sat down with our husbands in separate episodes and put them to the test of like how much they know about women. We asked some questions about like beauty, makeup, nails beauty makeup nails menstruation pregnancy like all the different elements of
Starting point is 00:14:48 girlhood and we wanted to see how they would fare they knew a decent amount and they did pretty well and so for this month we were like let's flip the script and do like a quiz for us about man things and we wanted to make it a little bit more fun so we husband swapped too we husband swapped that was the best part and I just want to say like men have no culture like the questions were crap their interests are dumb and women are just better I completely agree and you also need to listen Claudia to see if I beat you or not oh wait just tell me what score did you get oh actually don't spoil it oh no I want to tune in to find out but I'll text you I'll text you okay okay you guys have to tune in I'm not gonna give it all away I'll text you. I'll text you. Okay, okay. You guys have to tune in. I'm not going to give it all away.
Starting point is 00:15:25 I'll text you. You. I'm going to text you. We didn't discuss it but I like that we both like we've stopped pretending, you know? And wearing just sweatshirt season.
Starting point is 00:15:36 Yeah, like I feel like last week every single day we both got really dressed up. Well, we're first weeks back. It's very exciting. I've tried a couple different things. I don't like wearing shorts on the show anymore or a skirt first weeks back. It's very exciting. I've tried a couple different things.
Starting point is 00:15:46 I don't like wearing shorts on the show anymore or a skirt. It just like, it doesn't look good on reels. Sorry. It doesn't. So true. And then, so then I was doing capris,
Starting point is 00:15:54 but then I had my spray tan issue. Of course. Even though now I'm tanned through and through, like I have, it's hard to go back after what happened. No. And it's like, once you see yourself on camera wearing an oversized sweatshirt and leggings
Starting point is 00:16:07 and like high socks, you're never going back. It's a podcasting vibe. It is the uniform of the job. Okay. Wait, we totally like buried the lead. We actually have a very exciting week. We have two things going on and they're both happening tomorrow. Right.
Starting point is 00:16:20 So it's a very exciting Tuesday. God forbid we like spread out our exciting announcements. No. The first is we've been teasing this kind of major moment with Spritz. Obviously, for those who don't know, if you are new here, Jackie and I are founders in a canned sparkling cocktail company called Spritz Society. We've done amazing things over the years, but I want to say perhaps our biggest yet is happening tomorrow. We, I'll tell you a little bit, you know, I won't.
Starting point is 00:16:44 Ben actually told them a lot on the Patreon. Oh, okay. So can I or no? Up until what the flavor is. So we have a big launch coming tomorrow. New flavor, new SKU, new everything in partnership with one of our favorite people, Craig Conover, for those who don't know.
Starting point is 00:16:58 He's one of our investors. He's the face of our company. He's such a king. We did this amazing project with him. Like you guys are going to die. He seriously is like the most cutest. Actually, Ben was showing everyone at dinner with the tailors like all the pictures and stuff and everyone it's so crazy how everybody just like loves him they're like oh and he's so handsome like everybody was just like oh my god he really is the best like
Starting point is 00:17:17 people they're gonna love they're gonna love what we've got to offer at sportssociety.com tomorrow they're gonna love we'll get into it tomorrow. Using CodeCred20. Of course. And then we also, Jax and I kind of crushing the guest interviews lately. We've been really wanting to ramp up. And so many people were in town last week
Starting point is 00:17:33 because it was Fashion Week. So we were able to do another interview that's dropping tomorrow. We will drop who the guest is on our Instagram today. But feel free to drop in the comments
Starting point is 00:17:41 who you think it is. I'm really excited for this one. And this is the first time this person has ever done a podcast interview which I was honored to be a part of yes so we'll leave it at that yeah without giving too much away you know it's so hard for us to be coy I know like it's it's so hard let's just have to like stop talking should we do the fast five how are the stories today did you watch the emmys i watched the emmys until i couldn't anymore and it was maybe like 30 minutes in like these people they're just like insufferable like i know especially i can go for like the music awards because it's fun
Starting point is 00:18:16 and there's performances but like it was a lot of talking yeah it was just a lot of like hollywood yeah and especially postcoxedinia diagnosis. Like I can't talk to these people. They don't know real suffering, you know? No, it's so true. And they were sitting there like without a care in the world about their bones. Without a wince, you know? Like a real coxedinia survivor would have been crossing their legs multiple times throughout the ceremony.
Starting point is 00:18:43 One thousand percent. And it's not what I saw. And I didn't even see one Amazon pillow on a chair. I saw comfort. If I went to the Emmys, they would have to put one of these on my chair. But our first story is Emmys recap. We're going to talk about the winners, the big moments, and my thoughts about what I did watch. And I mostly wanted to see how Eugene and Dan Levy did.
Starting point is 00:19:04 Oh, how did they do? What I saw was cute. Like super cute stuff. I liked that they were the host. I know we talked about it when they were chosen and I thought it was a great choice. And I think they're really well liked by people in Hollywood. I thought it was excellent. And I liked that joke they made about the bear.
Starting point is 00:19:20 Oh, yeah. And I liked the joke that they made about like the first ever host of the Emmys. It was just like dumb, stupid jokes that like just were funny. They like mentioned the first guy who ever hosted the Emmys like you wouldn't know his name and they were like and were the first ones to mention him that he hosted the Emmys. No like cute like cute duo. It's always easier to do it with like a partner and the partner being like your dad or your son. I thought it was a really good choice and not obvious at all. Yeah. So let's get into it. The fast five stories that you need to know. Starting point is 00:24:19 Thank you, Slash Turt. You're welcome. Last night were the 67th annual Primetime Emmy Awards. And here were the winners of the evening. So overall, the show Shogun and the Bear took home the most awards. Shogun, like, broke records for nominations and wins. And the crazy thing is, I had not heard of Shogun until last night. Same.
Starting point is 00:24:47 and the crazy thing is I had not heard of Shogun until last night same so outstanding drama series which was a stacked category was Shogun winner outstanding comedy series Hacks I love that Hacks swept all the categories Jean Smart won I even though I was very critical of this last season because I thought it was like stupid I think it's still one of the best shows out there. And it's really not that I think about it. One of the few scripted shows that I really keep up with, like season after season. Yeah. I love it.
Starting point is 00:25:13 Outstanding lead actor in a drama series, Hiroyuki Sonata, Shogun. Outstanding lead actress in a drama series, Ana Saway, Shogun. Outstanding lead actor in a comedy series, Jeremy Allen White, the bear. I actually caught his speech and that was a stacked category too.
Starting point is 00:25:29 Cause you had Steve Martin and Martin short and Larry David. Wow. Yeah. Well, that's the thing. Like there, that's what I think everyone's always talking about. It's like Jeremy Allen White doesn't make you laugh in that show.
Starting point is 00:25:42 And that show doesn't make you laugh either. It being categorized as a comedy actually makes no sense. And for him to win against like Steve Martin, Martin Short and Larry David. I guess that doesn't make sense. It doesn't. Well, his speech, like he seemed really earnest and grateful. And by the way, I think that he's deserving. I've not heard him speak before.
Starting point is 00:26:03 I don't subscribe to JeremyAllenWhite.com. Yeah, like I don't watch The Bear. So I don't he's deserving. I've not heard him speak before. I don't subscribe to JeremyAllenWhite.com. Yeah, like I don't watch The Bears, so I don't know this man. That was my first time interfacing with him. And like he had a good attitude about him, I felt. Oh, no, he's extremely handsome. Like there's nothing not to like when it comes to JeremyAllenWhite.com.
Starting point is 00:26:20 I am a subscriber. I have been for many years. You get the fan mail? I love his website. Yeah, I subscribe to his newsletter. I like, I I loved him in shameless and I've just sort of followed his journey personally and professionally I never watched shameless he was definitely the best part of shameless and created this very like cult following for him because it was like it was a very popular show but it was very almost niche like his following um and I don't think that he's
Starting point is 00:26:43 not deserving at all I think he acts the hell out of that show and I think the show is bad sorry like I do don't come for me that's just my opinion um but I don't think he's undeserving I just think the cat like I hate when things don't make sense do you know what I mean yeah so why is it in the comedy category because Emmys only have two categories right like drama and drama and comedy. Yeah. And the thing is, it's not a drama, but it's more of a drama than it is a comedy. Hmm. It's just a show, you know? Like, why does it have to have a category?
Starting point is 00:27:13 It's just a show. Yeah, I understand. Well, outstanding lead actress in a comedy series went to Jean Smart. Hacks. Queen. Yeah, deserving. Outstanding supporting actor in a drama series, Billy Crudup, The. Queen. Yeah, deserving. Outstanding supporting actor in a drama series,
Starting point is 00:27:25 Billy Crudup, The Morning Show. Outstanding supporting actress in a drama series, Elizabeth DeBecky, The Crown. Oh, queen. She was such a queen.
Starting point is 00:27:36 She looked unbelievably gorgeous. She took her role as Princess Diana so seriously. I think she forgot to stop acting because she is Princess Diana. Everything she does, her outfits, her mannerisms, the way she talks. Somebody needs to yell cut. Or that's why she got the part.
Starting point is 00:27:56 Yeah. Outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series, Eben Moss Bachrock, The Bear. Supporting actress in a comedy series, Liza Colonzias, The Bear. And supporting actress in a comedy series, Liza Colonzias, The Bear. Then Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, which is always a fun category.
Starting point is 00:28:11 I love a limited series. I agree. I kind of like it better than shows that come back every season. Agreed. Like, we've had enough of you. Thank you. Yeah, no, and I feel like back in the day, like, this category was like, ew, who cares? And now I like these shows and I watch these shows more than I watch the regular categories. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:29 Like Queen's Gambit, those types of shows, right? Right. Lessons in Chemistry was nominated, but it went to Baby Reindeer. Oh, yeah. As did Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie went to Richard Gadd, Baby Reindeer. Did you watch that? I watched the first couple of episodes and then there was like a really graphic sexual assault scene. Right, right, I remember.
Starting point is 00:28:46 That I, I was like, why? I was protecting my peace. I'm like, why am I watching this? It was so upsetting. And I realized like at some point, I'm like, I don't have to be watching this, you know? Right, right. So I stopped.
Starting point is 00:28:57 And the girl won too. She was amazing as an actress, you know? Like, so I think that they deserved to win and it was super popular, which counts a lot. I'm sad that Lessons in Chemistry didn't win. Can we talk a little bit about the outfits? Because I thought Brie Larson, I was about to say Brie Vandekamp,
Starting point is 00:29:12 Brie Larson looked so beautiful, like, and she, Heather McMahon interviewed her, and she was like, tell us about your outfit, and she really wanted to pay tribute to Elizabeth Zott,
Starting point is 00:29:20 and you know what? I didn't think of it at first, but she was like that, this is like sort of me saying goodbye to the character, and it was so Elizabeth Zott coded. I have to go. Look, I haven't seen.
Starting point is 00:29:28 Oh, I saw it. She was wearing custom Chanel. Yeah. Wait, now let me look at it as Elizabeth Zott. And it is. It was so Elizabeth.
Starting point is 00:29:36 Well, good. That's a good inspo. Keeps her looking nice. I thought that Hannah Einbender looked so fabulous. She was one of my best dressed. I thought Jennifer An Einbender looked so fabulous. She was one of my best dressed. I thought Jennifer Aniston like yawn. She looks great. Like she can't look bad, but I feel like she gets the same blowout and the same dress. I feel like I've seen this outfit before. Now I
Starting point is 00:29:58 kind of get that, you know, I'm a creature of habit. Like if it looks good, it looks good. Yeah. But at this point she wears it so much. It looks like that's what she would wear to the grocery store. It doesn't look special. I guess. I kind of am here for it. Like having your classic look, not deterring. Like you don't need to be like taking chances when you know who you are. And like you know what looks good on you.
Starting point is 00:30:14 Like why should I potentially look ugly? Like I guess. But it's just such a fun way to express. No, but especially because when you think of like who she is. And also like as an artist. Like she's not doing like the gritty artistic roles like it's very like you know Rachel for mainstream popular show like yeah it's gonna look nice and it's gonna be obvious and you're not gonna have like a lot of questions about it I also thought that um Kristen Wiig looked amazing oh I didn't see her, and Ayo Edebiri.
Starting point is 00:30:45 I feel like everybody is obsessed with her outfit and she's kind of having a moment. And what's so cool, I don't know if people know this. Do you know that? Actually, I feel like people do know this if you follow Ariel Charnas. She's really becoming known for her style and her stylist is Ariel Charnas' sister.
Starting point is 00:30:59 Yes. And that's like a huge win for the influencers. It is a huge win for the influencers. Selina, okay, I'm looking at pictures now. It is a huge win for the influencers. Selina. Okay. I'm looking at pictures now. Do you see Selina? She looked very Selina.
Starting point is 00:31:09 I did. I, Liz Woods put it best because I was having the same feeling. Liz Woods was like, I feel like she's literally worn this exact same dress before. Or I just feel like she too has like a style that she likes. And you know what? I kind of take back what I said. Like, yeah, it's more fun for us. So like when people like go so glamorous, good or flop. Like, when they go extreme good or bad.
Starting point is 00:31:26 But if somebody works for you and you just want to, like, not capture any attention, good or bad, like, you know what? I kind of get it. Yeah, like, you want to look nice. You're going out for the night. Yeah. Why do you have to be a clown? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Elle Fanning, beautiful.
Starting point is 00:31:42 Yes. She, what was she there for? Well, are you sure you're talking about Elle and not Dakota? No, I'm talking about Dakota. You're right. Cool, cool, cool. Same thing. I liked it too.
Starting point is 00:31:56 I liked it. Yeah. Yeah. Like she looks pretty. She also, I feel like the Emmys, nobody's going to like, the Emmys are so blah, you know? Yeah. Like no one's gagging at the Emmys, you know? Agreed.
Starting point is 00:32:10 I do agree with you that Brie Larson is amongst the best. But no, nothing I saw like was unbelievable. Honestly, maybe Elizabeth DeBecky's my best dress, but only because I really got to see her 360. What about Hannah Einbender? Did you see what she wore? She looked nice. She looked nice. Moira looks gorgeous.
Starting point is 00:32:29 As always, love that she's supporting her husband and son. Right, exactly. Yeah. Yeah, it wasn't like a show-stopping red carpet, but I wasn't offended. Rita Ora looks amazing. What was she doing there? She's gonna show up. She's gonna look amazing, and 10 times out of 10,? She's going to show up. She's going to look amazing.
Starting point is 00:32:45 And 10 times out of 10, no one's going to talk about it. Yeah. They're wrong for that. Oh, I think a lot of people considered Meryl Streep to be their best dress, like with the pink tuxedo vibe, which I liked. It was different. Aza Gonzalez and Rita Ora are literally wearing the same thing. Have you seen this?
Starting point is 00:33:01 Oh, I saw Aza Gonzalez. I loved what she wore. That's what rita or aroar except with like a little less cleavage wait rita or emmys oh oh oh are they wearing but they're not wearing the same no liner no the the neckline is different oh i don't know it's the same designer tamara Ralph. Excuse? Yeah. Gonzalez, 34, and Ora, 33, accidentally twinned on the red carpet at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles with the pair both wearing strapless baby pink Tamara Ralph gowns for the event on Sunday, September 15th.
Starting point is 00:33:35 Oh, my God. Like, who's getting fired? Azaz was from fall-winter 2024-2025, and Rita wore an old gown from 23 23 24. Whose do you like better even though they're the same thing? That's actually a good question. I actually like Rita's better because I don't like such a plunging neckline personally. For a dress I like Rita's better better conceptually in terms of how they wear the dress and they're like hers is tailored better Aza Gonzalez. The dress looks too big on Rita Ora. I feel like,
Starting point is 00:34:07 not to be mean, like this is gonna, I feel like Rita Ora, because no brand would knowingly send two very similar dresses to two different women attending the same event. It makes the brand look bad.
Starting point is 00:34:16 Yeah. And it makes the girls look bad. I feel like Rita Ora, like, because she was like barely invited to this event, like had to go shopping at the mall
Starting point is 00:34:23 and this is what she bought. Or her stylist like pulls it not thinking about who else might be wearing it you know maybe it was too stylish it's like sparky palastri like they got the brand would let you know really that's not a good look for the brand i mean it actually is too fashion well now we're talking about a brand we had never heard of but yeah wow i actually saw when we're talking about a brand we had never heard of, but yeah. Wow. I actually saw when we were talking about the VMAs last week, like iconic moments from VMAs past or whatever, where I think it was Pink and Shakira wore the same dress on their, like exactly the same Balmain.
Starting point is 00:34:56 And I was like, oh, that's so crazy. That never happens anymore. Like people really have got it down and are communicating. And now this happens. No, but it doesn't happen for a reason. Like all the channels, the publicists, the marketing girls, like they know how to avoid it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:09 And I just think Rita Ora was at Short Hills Mall and picked up this dress. Like that's really what I think. Well, at least if two people are going to wear the same thing, like make it a good one. And they did. And it's not like one person looks so much better. Like they really are both beautiful, perfect looking women.
Starting point is 00:35:23 They look great. Yeah. Schwarzy looks good. Saoir yes sersha she looks good yeah okay more categories because we have to get to some of the more exciting categories we did a limited series are we not done like yeah because reality are there oh yeah go to go to that uh will do oh outstanding competition program went to the traders which was a major win for the traders i will does anybody else think that it's convenient that the traders peacock original show won an award that was being held at the peacock theater no because then wouldn't every show that lives on peacock win these awards and by the way that's not to say that Peacock isn't deserving I don't know how many Peacock originals were nominated
Starting point is 00:36:11 like if they're gonna get one this would be it but it is a great show it would new concepts different people loved it I think it's totally deserving and it's cool when like our interests are reflected at these like Sonati award shows that like take themselves so seriously when it's like, let's be real. No one's watching this shit. Everybody's watching Traders. Right, right. Honestly, I'm getting closer and closer to watching Traders. Then outstanding host for a reality competition went to Alan Cumming for Traders and he beat
Starting point is 00:36:38 RuPaul who's has like won it for the last eight years consecutively. No, this is really crazy. I also feel like, and correct me if I'm wrong, don't these awards usually not get televised? Because I've never seen, I know RuPaul wins every year. His show wins every year and he wins. But I don't know if I've ever seen him on the actual stage. I feel like these go to like the daytime ones or just like the non-televised ones. I don't know maybe they're trying to reach a wider it's a good idea yeah yeah so then and I can't believe RuPaul didn't win like not that I think like it's it was time like somebody else yeah this seems like a worthy show to usurp
Starting point is 00:37:20 and to break the streak it's just crazy that he didn't win. Yeah. Well, I'm sure he'll be okay with his eight trophies. And I think there's more because it was eight consecutive. But before that, he has like so many nominations. No, not enough people talk about how RuPaul is one of the wealthiest individuals. Like what he has built, people don't realize.
Starting point is 00:37:41 First of all, not only has the show been syndicated like on a million different continents, it's all produced in-house world of wonder that's his production company like that is business savvy yeah i wonder how much he's worth i feel like nobody even truly knows because he's not like obnoxious like yeah nobody knows he keeps himself like he just you know i don't feel like he doesn't leave his house yes smart well are you ready for the next big story? Big news from Sunday. Football Sunday. Taylor Swift went to the Chiefs game. They played the Bengals.
Starting point is 00:38:10 She dressed casual in a vintage Chiefs t-shirt dress and thigh-high boots. She sat in the Kelsey suite with her brother and Haim. And a lot of little nuggets came out from the evening. One, that there is a Taylor Swift heiress tour poster in the Kelsey suite at Arrowhead where she wants her off the stage so when I went to the 49ers game I was in Kristen Juszczyk's box and I feel like I learned a lot about like family boxes so the Juszczyk's and the Kittle's have a box together and when I was looking around it was so cute they had pictures I guess they let you like customize it for the whole season
Starting point is 00:38:44 they have pictures from like a million years ago from their weddings around, it was so cute. They had pictures. I guess they let you, like, customize it for the whole season. They have pictures from, like, a million years ago, from their weddings, family, friends. It was so personal and so sweet. And so, like, the fact that Taylor has a picture in there, obviously. It's kind of significant. Like, she is still the girlfriend, technically, right? Yeah, but she also has a connection to Arrowhead. Like, she rocks to the stage.
Starting point is 00:39:02 I'm sure that particular poster says, like, Arrowhead whatever yeah so I loved that and by the way the game I have really become acutely aware of how much I say by the way I'm really neat I'm gonna start working on it it's okay I think it's a phase okay maybe okay the game itself because you know I'm not like other girls I turn on the game and I actually watch it after Taylor like it's shown I like to see what happens it was a really good game and I feel I was an empath and I was rooting for both teams I didn't particularly have an interest because I love Joe Burrow everyone knows like he's really a fine specimen and he's got frosted tips and I really like it I think it's a good choice um and then obviously Taylor and Travis like I would have been happy if both teams won and I feel like I have some thoughts on the Cincinnati Bengals because they have,
Starting point is 00:39:49 they kind of remind me of me at a young age, like a lot of potential, but they can't get out of their own way. Like there were a lot of players, they lost the game. It was so close up until the very end, but they lost the game because of like a couple of calls that were their fault. You know, like they got pushed back. They lost their first down face mask. One of them was streaming at the ref. He got thrown out. It's's like those are dumb mistakes like you you cost yourself the game and I I feel like if I was a coach I would have a talk with them you know like an attitude adjustment yeah they have an attitude problem a thousand percent and I think it's emotional of course because this is not the second game in a row that they've lost and it's a
Starting point is 00:40:21 third year in a row where they're like losing all their games and I could sense their frustration of course I get it I'm an emotional person too. But they're clearly a good team because they came close to beating the Super Bowl winners. Yeah no they are a good team and Joe Burrow is like one of the most promising young quarterbacks and they have a ton of really good players and they just can't kind of can't get out of their own way. Yeah they need like a strong individual like a life coach to kind of come in and and like you know do team building exercises maybe some trust falls maybe like go to one of those like treetop places like they went to on Real Hazardous Orange County really build teamwork I love that yeah I think they need maybe some icebreakers no it's true because then like one of the guys who was like
Starting point is 00:41:03 Matt got mad at the ref and then they played. So he like thinks that the ref should have called something like that. He's got his face mask or something. Then they did the slowdown version and like he had no leg to stand on. And so that's why the ref didn't make the call. And he screamed at the ref and then got a flag for screaming. So he went out and then he's throwing his helmet. And Joe Burrow is like screaming at him to stop.
Starting point is 00:41:21 So there's infighting amongst the team as well. They need like Coach Taylor to come in. And team building. Discipline. And honestly like Coach Taylor to come in. Team building. And to discipline. And honestly like, you know, punish anyone who's like acting out. Like maybe you sit a game. Even if you're the best player. Like maybe you don't play.
Starting point is 00:41:33 Maybe you have to see. Yeah, they need like a Coach Taylor, ex-life coach, ex-team building. Like they need like a weekend retreat, first of all. Where like they can't bring their phones. And they all have to like sleep in bunks. And they learn about each other. And they go through their childhood trauma and things like that because I do think there's a lot of potential there but they are not seeing one another there's
Starting point is 00:41:50 no connection within the team they need to learn to trust each other they should have and could have beat that team oh and then like they won the Chiefs because they had three seconds left and they had to kick a field goal and Harrison Butker is that his name yeah and everyone's like cheering for Harrison Butker and everyone's like giving him hugs and I'm like cracking up because like these are the people like they're he's the one who had that speech go viral right and so it's like we've all forgotten about that because he literally saved the day they wouldn't have won without him yeah yeah I mean that's his literal job yeah well by the way, by the way, the, by the way, well, the Bengals missed a field goal. So that was tragic as well. And it was a special field goal that Harrison Butkus made because it was like
Starting point is 00:42:33 56 yards, like really special, really long. Oh, wow. Like if he would have missed it, you really couldn't have blamed him. Right. Right. Okay. I guess everyone's just going to have to suck it up. Yeah. Like we're all just like, everyone's just gonna have to suck it up every yeah like we're all just like how much you love how much you love sports really right and I really was wanting them to like I feel like Taylor like left the seat that she was in like she didn't want to be on camera for the Harrison butt kiss because for some reason like when his speech went viral they were like well what is Taylor gonna say Taylor doesn't know this person like also it's like what Taylor's gonna come out against like her boyfriend's teammate and like cause this
Starting point is 00:43:08 infighting no she probably has met with coach Taylor and like that's just not what you do as a part of a team like you respect people's differences and you keep it moving and you could even have like personal conversations and I'm sure plenty of people he talks to plenty of teammates and whatever but like to do that publicly like that's not what a team does no that like is embarrassing like for Travis like my girlfriend and she's so famous is like when people were like calling on Taylor to speak I'd be like are you guys serious and also you have to remember like as much as she's seriously the most powerful woman in the world like she's still the girlfriend like you have right now hey like yeah when she's the wife
Starting point is 00:43:42 she could be tearing it up a thousand percent but like when you're the girlfriend like you're still like have to be an actress I love that so many of the wags love Taylor they threw a party I think after yesterday's game because it was Patrick Mahomes birthday and we got a lot of Taylor content from the way like these girls love being Taylor's friend and Taylor loves being friends with them like all they do is take pictures every week it's the best thing. And this one girl, I'm sorry, I don't remember her name. I'm going to find it.
Starting point is 00:44:08 She posted a carousel of pictures from the game. She has a husband who's on the team. And her caption was seriously like so real. Okay, hold on. I've got to find it. Liz P. Wood story. Here. I gotta find a Liz P. Wood story here bitches clearly want my life and it's so evident like they do
Starting point is 00:44:31 I do yeah her name is Kariah Gordon oh Shariah Taylor was talking about her oh her man is Nicole Hardman Jr. they're married cute Taylor's with her a lot I feel like they're in the box. She sat next to Taylor at the game last night. And last week, by the way.
Starting point is 00:44:49 Yes, you're right. Because there's a picture of all four of them. Oh, yeah. Taylor must really like her. I feel like she's funny. Bitches clearly want my life. And it's so evident. Like, yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:59 Yeah. I'm going to make that my caption like the next time I have a picture to post. Someone remind me. Are you ready for our next story? I guess. I didn't watch a lot of football yesterday because I was like, oh, I played golf. Yeah, I'm an amazing wife. Oh, just a different sport.
Starting point is 00:45:14 Just a different sport. I'm kind of like a well-rounded athlete, you would say. Understood. Even with my coccidinia. It doesn't hold her back. Well, our next story is actually super funny because Colin Jost jokes that buying the Staten Island Ferry with Pete Davidson was the dumbest purchase he ever made. So it's hard to say whether or not Colin Jost has any regrets about buying the Staten
Starting point is 00:45:35 Island Ferry in 2022. The SNL star teamed up with fellow comedian Pete Davidson to purchase the decommissioned ferry for $280,000, according to the New York Times two years ago. But he told People Magazine that for a conservative spender, it was not his smartest move. So actually, their ferry hosted the Tommy Hilfiger show during New York Fashion Week last week. Which is like the first thing they've done in five years
Starting point is 00:45:59 since owning this random boat. So he spoke to People Magazine kind of at length about the ferry situation. And it is a bit of a conundrum. he said quote it's absolutely the dumbest and least thought through purchase i've ever made in my life the way i justified it is for the amount of money we were putting into buying it on just a basic square footage level is if you found the right place for it to be you were essentially buying a building on its side that's 65 000 square feet so around new york that's a very good price per square foot.
Starting point is 00:46:25 Yes, because if they were going to make it like- Yeah, but it's not a building. A comedy club. Then if you think of square footage. So in the two years since they bought the ferry though, it hasn't done a whole lot. And Jost can admit that. The team is working on it and has done some renovations.
Starting point is 00:46:38 It still though looks like the Staten Island Ferry. But that's because he and Pete, as well as their co-investor, who is the comedy club owner Paul Italia he owns the stand they all have full-time jobs they're not devoting as much time as he might like to getting the ferry up and running as an entertainment venue and the team has like different ideas for what it should be so Joe said it's possible that the very the ferry could still end up functional as a boat it would just require a staff to run it and he's not sure that's
Starting point is 00:47:04 something he wants to worry about. And as much as he might like to take the ferry out on the water himself, he actually can't because it doesn't have the engines for that yet. They could get it up and running and on the water soon, but then it's expensive and the insurance company. No, of course not. And they don't need to be doing tours of Staten Island. No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:47:23 To get it operable as a ferry. So even if they rented it out for stuff, Tommy Hilfiger couldn't have taken it out on the water. It had to be docked. Yeah, but the way I envisioned it, there are a couple of places in the city that are on boats that don't move. There's a really popular restaurant downtown that's a big boat that's docked. And I think the idea of a comedy club like on a boat that is docked
Starting point is 00:47:45 is still fine. It doesn't need to boat. Yeah. The team does think it makes more sense to dock it and use it as a venue just like Tommy Hilfiger did. However, one of their partners wants to turn the ferry into a venue
Starting point is 00:47:56 with hotel rooms, restaurants, and bars. And they can't even get the thing up and running. And now he wants a hotel. Cart the ferry. The ferry's halftime in Miami and halftime in New York. But then Colin's like. Oh, you just know they all hate this partner because he's like delusional. But then Colin's like, we want to be on the water in New York.
Starting point is 00:48:13 Like, it's a Staten Island ferry. I would love it to be here. I think it's special if it stays in New York in some way. And I think it will be reimagined. But the spirit is the same. So they don't know what they're doing with that ferry. And I'm sure the maintenance of it like and the docking fees for two years even though the initial 280k for a massive boat is
Starting point is 00:48:31 actually it is a good price but to just be a money pit yeah yeah and they're really not utilizing the celebrities involved because if they had just rented I feel like renovating it into a small comedy club and like having your big famous friends go and it doesn't need to take off like it just docked like to me it sounded like a good idea at the time and now it's just stupid because nobody cares yeah and they have one investor who's like delusional I want to make a hotel and take it to Miami and the others who don't want to do anything like it's giving group project with like a chaotic group yeah someone needs to like one vision needs to emerge as the leader
Starting point is 00:49:05 and everyone needs to get on board. They need to have a brainstorm. They need to literally get on board. They need to make a decision. Okay. So you and I buy like a defunct ferry. What are we doing with it? I think a bar,
Starting point is 00:49:19 like a, it stays docked. I think the idea of having like a, yeah, I think like, you know, toasty booze cruises. Yeah, but idea of having like a, yeah, I think like, you know, toasty booze cruises. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:27 But I, I don't like the concept of, especially in the city of like having a party or a bar or whatever on a boat that moves because you're stuck. And then you're like, people are not going to go because one, they get boat sick too, because they're like,
Starting point is 00:49:38 Oh, well I have to be somewhere at eight 30 and the boat doesn't dock till 10. So if you're just stuck at the dock and you get like pretty views of the water and the city, like that's good enough. Being on a boat that's not moving what is the point i'd rather go to a restaurant on land on the water because there are those like i'm just getting queasy for what i'm not even sailing the high seas people love being on boats i mean it really is a great experience to be on a boat i love being on a boat i there's literally a song, I'm on a boat.
Starting point is 00:50:07 Like that's all you have to say. There's a lot of songs. On the pontoon. I love boats and I love all different types of boats. Like we did a boat this summer in the Hamptons. Like it wasn't, you know, we weren't, we did swim actually, but it's like, you know, northeast waters, choppy shark. Loved every minute of it.
Starting point is 00:50:24 Every time I go on vacation, like to the Caribbean, I'm always doing a boat day. I think those are like the best days of my life. I love like a chilly boat in the fall or winter, but you just like, you know, catch a lift. Oh my God. I think boats, I would love to own a boat one day. I need to add that to my list of dreams.
Starting point is 00:50:41 I was adding it to my list and then we did that boat day and we had the best time. And then when I got home, home like I was rocked like I was feeling the motion of the ocean for the next 24 hours. I'm glad it didn't hit me on the boat and I was able to enjoy but I don't have the constitution I think to own a boat because I couldn't really use it that much. I absolutely adore the use of the word constitution. Can you tell me a little bit more about what it means and like how to use it in sentences? So the use of the word constitution. Can you tell me a little bit more about what it means and like how to use it in sentences? So the constitution, like the makeup,
Starting point is 00:51:09 I don't have the makeup of a boater. I'm sure that's why the constitution was called that. I think the word constitution comes before the document. The actual constitution. Yeah. So if I were to use it it a constitution is an aggregate of fundamental principles or established precedents that can so because of my coccidinia diagnosis i have the constitution of a fighter i think you have the constitution of a stander i don't or maybe a layer on your side. Oh, of a layer.
Starting point is 00:51:46 Yeah. I am a layer. Of one who lays on your side. Yeah. I was like layer. Layer. Yeah. I definitely am.
Starting point is 00:51:53 So you have the constitution or you are the constitution? You have the constitution. What is your constitution? It's kind of like elk. Yes. It's kind of an elevated elk. By the way, do you feel like we need to do a quarterly reminder that we use the word elk. Like we know we're trying to say ilk, but now it's elk.
Starting point is 00:52:12 But I also have to remind myself that the actual word is ilk. There are a lot of things that we say incorrectly on purpose. And I think if you're new to the show, you love to like leave a comment thinking you're helping. And it just kind of shows your novice infancy. Yeah. One of them, you know. Novice. Infancy. Yeah. One of them, you know, lest we not forget. Right. It's lest we forget.
Starting point is 00:52:29 We know, but it's not. All's to say. All's to say. All's to say. We know most of the things, but we're having. Facsimile. But we're having fun. Fashy smile.
Starting point is 00:52:39 Fashy smile. What other words to be pronouncing correctly on purpose? Should we start a list? Yeah, maybe. Schwar say I don't do on purpose. I just can't remember until you say it and then I'll get it right.
Starting point is 00:52:55 And somebody once taught me how to say it. You just have to think of Lisa Vanderpump and her best restaurant, Sir. Saoirse. Okay, I'll try for next time.
Starting point is 00:53:01 But like if it's months go by, I don't know if I'll remember is what I'm saying. That mnemonic device will help. Trust and believe. Okay, thank you't know if I'll remember is what I'm saying. That mnemonic device will help. Trust and believe. Okay. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:53:07 You're welcome. Oh, that's another one. Yeah, you're welcome. Are you ready for our next story? No, are you? No, I'm not because I need to let you know that today's episode is brought to you by Huggies. This episode of The Toast is brought to you by Huggies Little Movers.

I love Huggies because I can rely on them to keep my babies covered while they're moving around. And they move around quite a lot these days, every which way. Their bodies curve this way, that. You know, they're crawling, walking, doing their thing.
Starting point is 00:53:56 And Huggies is there to support them. Huggies little. And we can't understate the importance of their cute little designs. It's true. They have their Simba ones, which we love. And we were just at Disney on ice, really enjoying Simba. It's all full circle. It's the circle of life.
Starting point is 00:54:12 It's so, Jackie, that's beautiful. Thank you. Huggies little movers are curved to fit all curves. So my babies feel comfy no matter how much they're moving around. And they're moving a lot. They also offer 12 hourhour protection against leaks, which is a game changer. So get your baby's butt into the best fitting diaper.

Starting point is 00:57:35 You're welcome. Our next story, Royal Watchdogs are confused and quaked. What? Royal Watchdogs. Okay. Are confused a bit because the royal family wished Prince Harry a happy birthday on social media. And the Prince and Princess of Wales like retweeted it, reposted it, also wishing him happy birthday. So there's a lot going on in this.
Starting point is 00:57:59 It's giving back in the fold. Yes. However, the picture that they chose is like kind of a weird one. If the, in the larger picture, I think Megan is in it. You can't see her cropped out. Cause they're not like touching each other. So it's just kind of like a random picture of him when like we do have portraits. We do have, sometimes if you're wishing someone a happy birthday, like you would post a picture of them with their family. So it's like, why are they wishing him a happy birthday? Even though I think would also be weird if they didn't. So I am team, they should wish him happy birthday. But two, why is this the picture that they used?
Starting point is 00:58:30 Yeah, because to use a photo that Megan's in, and it's not weird to post a photo of someone alone on their birthday, but to crop someone out, let alone that person's wife, mother of their children, feels targeted, especially when it was a weird photo to use from the get-go. And the original photo is like a candid almost it's from 2018 that he's like sitting around a table there's other people around the table and they like where did they even find this photo they could have used a
Starting point is 00:58:55 photo of Harry and the family like in one of the family photos that they took they could have used like even a childhood photo of him like it oh that would be weird yeah they could have like made no news with this if they just chose like a sweet photo they could have made no news which I do think was the goal and instead it's news yeah it's a weird photo for sure also they couldn't have kept Megan in it without leaving the back of someone's arm too and then it's an even weirder photo um so why are they acting like this is the only photo they could have used I'm not mad about the Megan crop it doesn't make sense for her to be in this picture if this is the one they absolutely had to use but I do not understand why this is the picture plus it's from 2018 that is six years ago okay I also always forget that like the public opinion on Harry is so different in the UK than it is here.
Starting point is 00:59:50 Because then you read the comments on this Instagram, and they're definitely UK comments. People from America, I don't think, are leaving comments on the Royal Family Instagram. The top one, happy birthday from Netflix, Spotify, Oprah, and Penguin Random House. If only his 40th birthday could bring him wisdom, Spotify, Oprah, and Penguin Random House. If only his 40th birthday could bring him wisdom, maturity, class, and humility. Oh, goodness. Back in the day where he didn't need to ask for his wife's approval to smile. Well, she was right next to him.
Starting point is 01:00:18 Oh, my God. The first 40 years of child. Difficult. Like people really don't like him in the UK. I hope he has the day he deserves. No cake, no champagne, no visit from his family. Just a long day of listening to his wife talk. Oh my God.
Starting point is 01:00:40 Yeah. That's what I'm saying. You really, it puts into perspective how different like the temperature and the climate is on them and why they fled. And I think that I do think in America people, and I don't, I can't ever tell if I'm just like projecting my own likes and dislikes,
Starting point is 01:00:55 but I feel like people really like Megan and like people don't like Harry here. I think that's you. Yeah. That's what I just said. I think in America, the same people who like them, like both of in America the same people who like them like both of them and the same people who don't like them don't like both of them I don't I actually think
Starting point is 01:01:09 that you're in the minority of like really liking one and not liking the other like I think most people associate them as the same well I can't recommend coming to my side enough I think it's really wondrous I think it's a fun POV because it allows you to enjoy the good and like kind of like get caught up in like all the swirly stuff she's doing. While not having to deal and then just like putting all the negative stuff that they don't just like put it on him. Not your problem. I mean, I don't know how you watched their documentary and you didn't walk away with
Starting point is 01:01:36 this fucking hate for Harry. And like really this, this, I felt this like fundamental, I felt like Harry so failed his wife and failed at protecting her and left almost like shift blame onto his family but if you watch and listen to exactly what they said like all of the things that Meghan got thrown into and her unpreparedness like it was on him he has grown up in this like he knew what she needed to wear act do bc and he told her none of it he just sort of threw her into it and was like my family's mean it's like well you're not helping yeah that's definitely one big part of it and I think as I've said like I think everything he's done after that like was an overcorrection to the fact that he totally dropped the ball but
Starting point is 01:02:18 when I think back on their documentary now like the way that it ages in my mind I think it was a lot of propaganda and it's hard to just like take everything that they said as like the only part of the story even one of the experts that they had called in to like do some social media analysis on something like he wound up being like such a fucking quack he wound like that he was cited as doing I can't remember all the details but like I don't think it ages well I think a lot of it has been like you realize that even not necessarily an outright lie but just like way more to it the story well then you also have to think about it like because at the end of the day this is just like in-law drama right on a much more global scale but so many people have in-law dramas and you talk to the mother-in-law and her side of the story is insane right like right evil daughter-in-law and
Starting point is 01:03:03 then you talk to the daughter-in-law and it's like, oh my God, her mother-in-law is evil. And I do feel like it's one of those situations where you'll sit down with anyone and you'll hear their side and you'll be like, oh my God, the family's evil. The family's wrong. No contact, no contact. But now I'm at a place where like,
Starting point is 01:03:16 I will listen to something Harry says and I just, I have such a hate for him. I'm like, oh, you're lying. Yeah, but I do think it's completely a magnified version of what you just said like in-law drama two different takes on the situation when you talk to one side you see it and when you talk to the other side you see their side like and it's a tale as old as time and like unfortunately for them it's playing out in front of all of us no it's a tale as old as like
Starting point is 01:03:40 I feel like a million girls are like yeah I've been there yeah but obviously not at the scale but then also then he doesn't help himself when he writes a book about it and does shows about it but those are also things that he has to do because he didn't protect her in the first place and they had to leave and now they don't have the money that they once had yeah that's part of that's like not as tale as old as time that's specific to this situation the money part of the of their umroyal life to me is so interesting because they get dragged a lot for all the projects that they do. Even that top comment, like,
Starting point is 01:04:10 happy birthday from Netflix, Spotify, Oprah. And the money, you just assume royals are wealthy independently. And I know that he is. His mother left him a lot of money and he has inheritances and stuff. But a lot of the royal wealth is tied up in land for the royals. And once you leave like you have to work yeah especially at the level that they live yeah it's like we're not we're not downsizing after this right we're upgrading right well are you ready for our
Starting point is 01:04:35 fifth and final story it's a little podcasting news that i find very interesting because the daily podcasting keeping up with sports finally came out no but it is sports adjacent ish it's um amy roback and tj holmes are expanding their podcast to a daily show titled the morning run not the morning run morning run because that makes it sound like the toast morning run so amy and tj announced monday that they will release daily podcast episodes about news and entertainment the former gma3 Coast anchor has made the decision to help listeners navigate the busy news cycle and historic political season this country is facing each weekday.
Starting point is 01:05:13 They're both avid runners and they will continue to host their current iHeart podcast, Amy and TJ, on which they discuss romance, cheating scandal, the ouster from ABC. But this will be a daily news entertainment podcast called Morning Run, Monday to Friday, bringing you daily news, entertainment, and lifestyle headlines, keeping listeners informed and entertained every day of the work week.
Starting point is 01:05:34 This is actually really interesting because last week there was a report that came out that ABC is kind of like struggling with GMA ever since like firing TJ and Amy that they don't have not even who to host GMA3 like the third hour but the people who will one day replace like Robin Roberts George Stephanopoulos and Michael Strahan like they were set to follow their footsteps and like this article came out saying like they have good correspondence there but they're not stars and no and it takes a long time to like for America to love you and then they build up that talent to the place where you're and also to like you know learn the like to get your experience in
Starting point is 01:06:11 and so they are kind of having this issue and like TJ and Amy actually seem to be doing well and now they're going back to doing daily shows talking about news it's like ABC should hire them back and so was iHeartRadio producing their second show too, this daily one? I, yes, they are. Well, for like a podcast network and a big media company to take your, like they obviously are doing well with their weekly show because to take on another show to do five days a week and sell ads for, like you have to, there has to be a demand for it. So they must be doing well.
Starting point is 01:06:39 I mean, I maintain that I think they were wrongly fired. Obviously like having an affair is the wrong thing to do, but like what fucking business is that of your boss? Like who cares what choices you make in your personal life. And so I'm glad they're suffering. Like you're a loser. Like good, losers suffer. Yeah, I agree with that.
Starting point is 01:06:54 And now they're really doing what they were doing before, but just in a different space and they must be having success with it if they're going to be doing more shows, they get to work together. The only thing is though, like the pressure is on for them to be together forever. Not even because they, like, cheated on their spouses.
Starting point is 01:07:08 There's always that pressure. Like, you have to make it work or else, like, you know, you're a homewrecker. Now there's even more riding on it. Yeah. Yeah. And I think a lot of people say, like, I could have a podcast. And then it comes to, you know, developing an hour-long show once a week. And it's way more work than people anticipate.
Starting point is 01:07:27 And so then you get your feet wet and you're having a lot of success with a weekly show. A daily show is a lot more work. But these are two people who like, you know, for many years were up at 4 a.m. doing the news, GMA third hour. So I do think they have what it takes. I just don't know if there's that much public interest in these two. I feel like the media is obsessed with talking about them. Like who are their fans? Like based on what I know about the podcasting industry I can't imagine like they're getting more than 25,000 listens a week.
Starting point is 01:07:53 Now I know when you're a part of iHeartMedia like your numbers get inflated because anyone with the iHeartRadio app like they really can inflate your numbers and and make it bigger than it is. But when it comes to like devoted fans like I can't imagine that they have a lot like who are the devoted fans I want to check their instagrams yeah and please sound off in the comments like have you ever listened to this podcast and how many people who like watch gma3 to even like them in the first place like are gonna now change their behavior to doing podcasts I feel like it's a very uh traditional audience that uses traditional mediums not podcasting but she has 600k oh wow that's a lot yes and he has 152k oh wow he's not really pulling his weight um yeah I just don't know not only that like let's say you love TJ and Amy right and
Starting point is 01:08:43 maybe you watch TV and podcasting is not for you I just can't imagine like only that like let's say you love TJ and Amy right and maybe you watch TV and podcasting is not for you I just can't imagine like even if you love to watch the GMA third hour like you're watching for the content not for the hosts you know what I mean like yeah and like you don't have like fans maybe maybe you get to a level like even Robin Roberts or or what's his name Stephanopoulos like people love them they're like America's sweethearts but if they were to like start their own podcast like I don't even know if that many people would listen they like the work that they do but they're tuning in for the content not the host and I think podcasting is so personality heavy and especially in the space where there are so many like news podcasts I think that
Starting point is 01:09:15 you kind of have to be you gotta have like you'd be saying something new like hot takes like I don't know that that's what they do because that's not what they did. Yeah, and they weren't ever like journalists in the sense where they were breaking, hard-hitting, divisive news. They sort of are just very, it's like kind of a, what's our favorite movie, Morning Glory? Like it's a morning show, it's light, and it's lovely. Yeah, but they must be doing well. Looking forward to seeing what they do, yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:42 I'm rooting for them. I'm rooting for me in my battle against Coxedinia. I like the name and I like the concept, Morning Run. And their whole profiles are running. Like, they're running people. That's cute. Well, thanks, Jax. That was great.
Starting point is 01:09:56 I hope your tushy's okay. Me and my pillow, we're doing great. I know. I just feel like I can't complain. Not today of all days. After the big D of the C. Thank you guys so much for listening to the Toast the Monday Morning Show where we tell the fastest
