Starting point is 00:00:09 It's Jackson, Claude and every show, the fast five things you need to know. We'll start your day off, swirly. It's the toast. I sound amazing. Welcome back to The Toast and happy Tuesday. I hope you guys are ready for a Nalafi. I'm just feeling like today's episode is going to be 90 minutes. Really?
Starting point is 00:00:31 We have so many stories. As usual. We have to just chat about ourselves, of course, amongst ourselves. And then we also have your toaster. I don't know why I'm just feeling like I should get comfortable. I'm glad we have these new chairs. Oh, yeah. I feel like the stories are the stories.
Starting point is 00:00:42 the stories, is there like a lead story that you're excited to talk about? It feels like... It does feel like there is one story that I'm really excited to talk about. Okay. Well, I don't want to jump the gun. No, no, we would never. But of all the stories, don't you find that there's one that's got like a little special gina sequa?
Starting point is 00:01:01 I don't want to give anything away. Yeah, me neither. I hold them tight to the best. And just so I can know, like, and the people can know, like, what story do you think, what number is the one that has like all the gina sequo? I don't know, probably latter half. So like four or five. Three, four or five.
Starting point is 00:01:16 Okay. Okay. Yeah. Can you keep it in your pants? I can't. It's like chancing with the stars. Which airs tonight? You know, I saw, this is not an ad, but I saw like all the, I actually felt
Starting point is 00:01:25 better when I saw like all the markets, like the prediction markets. They're all saying Jackson's going home tonight because I don't know if you've seen like his big scandal. Yeah. He went for Guillermo. He was like making a comment. Yeah. And then Guillermo like finally responded to being like, I think he was joking.
Starting point is 00:01:38 Like trying to like get the fans to lay off of Jackson. Big mistake. But also, I think it's Jackson's time. In addition to the Guillermo. We said that last week. I can say who's time it's not? You called me last week with a big piece of information about us. I called you last week?
Starting point is 00:01:56 Last night. Sorry. Yes, of course. With a big piece of it, you were like, oh my God, check your text. Oh, yeah. I was like, Jackie, did you hear? And she was like, what? We're going on dancing with the stars.
Starting point is 00:02:05 I was like, no. It was something else, which I guess we'll talk about later. but then I said to you, like, I really hope I never get asked to do as much as I want to get. You have not just not putting it out there. No, no. I just need to put this out there so everybody knows like really where I stand. I want to do dancing with the stars. Like, I would love to do it.
Starting point is 00:02:22 It would be a dream of mine. I hope I never get asked because I will be so conflicted because realistically, like, I can't do it. But I would love to do it. You with Massinger. It was like being asked was the worst thing that ever happened to me. Like, because you have to do it, but you can't. No, but I can't. Of course.
Starting point is 00:02:42 No, ask us in five years, like, when we're done rearing children and we are skinny. Like, we will do it then. Yeah. So I just... Literally, see you Dancing with the Stars 2032. So I'm glad that last night I was not asked to join the next season of Dancing with the Stars. No, and the sort of like career milestone we did find out about last night. I want to say, like, is better than Dancing with the Stars.
Starting point is 00:03:01 You think so we can discuss, like, if we, why I'm talking about it later. If it's like one of the latter, have three, four, or five stories. How's your day going? How was my day going? You know, it's going well, I would say. Yeah, well, I mean, it's 9 o'clock, so like nothing that kind of struggle. I didn't get to finish my show last night. I'm on like, I have half of the last episode left.
Starting point is 00:03:23 I was supposed to be doing two a night, but then like Maxie woke up and so I still didn't finish my show. But the show was good and I'm enjoying it. I'll be sad when it's over. I did something last night, something crazy last night. Crack? Crazier. Matt? Literally crazier.
Starting point is 00:03:37 I finally watched the voice. because I've been, I've been, like, voice curious about all the contestants. And, you know, I can't, it's not a season of the voice if I don't watch and, like, hate one of the judges. Of course, last couple of seasons, it was Michael Blue Blay. He never should have been on there. And you know who I hate? Riley Green. No.
Starting point is 00:03:53 Queen Latifah. Could never. Like, I'm incapable. Who's the fourth? It's not Kelly. I know you don't know who is. Adam Levine, of course. Oh, that wasn't even a trick question.
Starting point is 00:04:00 I thought it was a trick question. So, first of all, I feel like when you see, like, the coaches, like, sort of communicating with one another. You really get to see, like, who's the diva. It was clear last season there was Michael Blubley like he thought he was so much better than everyone. And Adam Levine is just like
Starting point is 00:04:12 I'm sorry he's not qualified to be there anymore like he's really not relevant right now. This is his house. Well so the house that he built and that qualifies him outside of musical accolades.
Starting point is 00:04:24 That's what he like pitches himself to the blind auditions. He knows how to usher you through but Riley Green with him like it's a dick measuring contest like Riley Green is just very effortlessly cool like a lot of the young girls on that show like
Starting point is 00:04:35 they want to be on his team like he's hot. He's like the hot. thing and they keep like, you know, jabbing at one another. All in good fun, right? And I'm telling you they fucking hate each other. Queen Latifah and Kelly Clark said are getting along just like swimmingly. Swimmingly.
Starting point is 00:04:47 And they didn't put them next to each other. They went girl boy, girl boy, because I'm telling you, like Riley Green and Adam Levine do not get along. No, and also I actually don't know. I mean, you're watching. So you could tell me better if it's balanced. But it doesn't really sound like four distinctly different judges. No, because Kelly Clarkson and Queen Lefahifa definitely cover a similar group.
Starting point is 00:05:03 Or very similar. And then Adam Levine and Riley Green. Yeah, they're very like folksy. No, and they are the same. Sorry, if you look at them, they're the same person. Like, it's not giving range. That, like, a lot of the contestants on the show are really young. And, like, I feel like a lot of them don't even know Adam Levine, outside of the voice.
Starting point is 00:05:17 I'm being dead serious. And just seeing him there, it's giving, like, sad grandpa. And the rest of the group is, like, so culturally relevant. Like, Queen Latifah is eternal. Kelly's so having a moment. And Riley Green is, like, this up-and-comer. So it's just, like, what are you doing here? It's giving, like, the senior who graduated, like, keeps coming back to say hi to the teachers.
Starting point is 00:05:33 Like, oh, my God. But I don't want a freshman to be my coach, Riley Green. like on her first season, Kelly Clarkson. No, no, not a freshman coach. A freshman artist. They jumped the gun with Wiley Green. 100%. He has not earned his stripes.
Starting point is 00:05:49 And I want to say, you know, literally your dream is being on Dancing with the Stars. My dream is to be a celebrity vocal coach on a competition show, American Idol, X Factor, the voice. And the thing is, you know, I actually think I would end up with nobody on my team because I thought a lot of the singers stunk. Is you unqualified?
Starting point is 00:06:05 No. I thought they stunk. Like, I wouldn't have turned for a half. the people that these judges were turning for, but like, they have to hit a quota. So I see Queen Latifah turning. I'm like, I know you don't think he's good, but like you gotta at some point get someone in a dream. I just feel like the pool of people is not like insane. Well, if you think about it, we've been doing these singing shows for 20 some years. Yeah. There are so many of them. We're finding all the best singers in the country every year.
Starting point is 00:06:29 Maybe we're out of singers. But new people are born. Like you have to consider the baby boom. They are born. No, I just didn't, I wasn't really impressed by the talent. But also, it is technically the first round. So by the time we get, you know, to the knockout rounds and whatever the Hollywood week, whatever they call it. Then you get like the really good,
Starting point is 00:06:44 like 10 singers. But for now. And also it's like you need people who are eligible to go home in the knockout rounds. Like you don't want to see a great go home in the knockout. It's true.
Starting point is 00:06:52 It's true. I don't know. I just, this group is, it's like 75% working. The judges. And you're saying that Adam's the problem. I would say it's 50% working
Starting point is 00:07:01 because I think Riley and Adam sound problematic. Riley has a really nice personality. I think him and Kelly like know each other from the country scene. he's getting along really well with everyone, and the contestants really like him.
Starting point is 00:07:10 Like I'm telling you, Adam's the outlier, and he, like, knows it. Like, he's sort of leading with, like, insecurity. And all the jokes that, like, Riley's making about him is like, he's the old guy. And it's like, but he's the old guy.
Starting point is 00:07:22 It's like a little too. It's a little too on the nose. I don't even know if it's age. I just mean, like, he's definitely much older, but it's like culturally. If he's in his 40s, then it's 47. So if he's in his 40s,
Starting point is 00:07:32 it's like a joke, you know? Yeah. He's going to be saying it about someone like a nurse. But he was more so, like, not saying it about age, but saying it about, like, you know, Adam's old news. Yeah. I enjoyed the Jabs. I'm glad, because you don't like him.
Starting point is 00:07:45 I don't like him. Add him to the list. But I will say, you know, you should also be respectful. Not you. Of your elders. Like, respect your elders. Maroon 5 is huge. Yeah, I feel though.
Starting point is 00:07:56 Your pride is huge. Anyone that chose Adam when I was watching, they were either choosing him by default or, like, I'm telling you the judge is made. Like, the production made the person. and choose. But who wants to be on Adam Levine's team? No, but if you want to win the voice.
Starting point is 00:08:10 You go with Kelly. Or if you're not a Kelly, if you're not like a Kelly. A girl. Like Adam, he knows how to usher you in as a winner. You're on the voice. Who you're going with. And these are my four choices. Like obviously Kelly.
Starting point is 00:08:22 Obviously Kelly. I'm looking for a friend. Yeah, obviously Kelly. But I just also want to say like it would be a tough decision if Queen Latifal also turned around. Yeah. It just for me, obviously, Kelly, like she's my number one in this world. Of course.
Starting point is 00:08:33 That would be a dream come true. her mouth Maybel, like if I had the opportunity to talk to her endlessly about Harrispray, and I would, of course, choose a good morning Baltimore, or her solo, big blonde and beautiful. Yeah. It's tough. I would choose Kelly, ultimately, because I think it would be a better match. And she has the experience as a coach. And I think, like, vocally, we match a little bit better, but I would have a really hard time choosing.
Starting point is 00:08:53 When you say that your dream is to be, like, a celebrity vocal hoagie, does that mean you you want to be in the chair or you want to be, like, we brought in Claudia? No, I want to sit in that chair. Okay. And actually, if I had my druthers, I really would want to be an X factor at its height, an X factor, because they sat behind the table and, like, you don't have to see your belly or anything. And the lighting was so flattering. And it was such a cultural moment, like, when Chloe was hosting. Yeah, I would have to have been, like, Bernie Spears or Demi Lovato or L.A. Read. Understood. That's my dream. But I know in order to fulfill that dream, I have to be a successful singer first. And I couldn't even shake it on the mass singer. So, like, I'm definitely not. That's not going to be in my lifetime. Like, Dancing with the Stars might be in your lifetime. The Voice slash X Factor slash American Idol is not going to be in my. Well, what if they, maybe, you know, like every other show they might want like an influencer.
Starting point is 00:09:38 You know? Here's the other thing, though. And also, you could eventually they become so powerful as like a commentator that they would have a commentator. I could be Carson Daly. You couldn't be on the voice. Sorry, you couldn't be a voice judge. But the way that like Simon Cowell, he's not a singer. It's so true.
Starting point is 00:09:56 And Randy Jackson. And he was very valuable. It's true. So I'm more of like I bring the industry. Yeah, and just it's not the voice because the voice are coaches and you're not a coach. And the other thing about you are a judge. I couldn't coach because like a judge, a jury and an execution. I know how to sing, but like I can't teach you.
Starting point is 00:10:12 Like I don't even know what sort of value I could provide as a coach because. Thank you for admitting. Of course. No, no, you either have it or you don't. That's what I would tell my, my team. I would say, do you have it? Yes or no. Yes or no.
Starting point is 00:10:24 Are you still texting bitches? Yes or no. So that's like I can't, I can't help you beyond that if you don't have what it takes. Yeah. So I think we should just redirect the dream. Yeah, I like that. America's got such. America's got talent.
Starting point is 00:10:38 No. Okay, so. It's like kind of a circus show. Do you know what I mean? It is. It's like, it actually is. No, but it is.
Starting point is 00:10:45 I want to go strictly like to the, straight to the music industry. Okay. I need to become a commentator so powerful. Yeah. That they can't ignore me. The way that Joe Rogan does UFC. So true.
Starting point is 00:10:56 But also didn't he like. Used to fight. Don't worry about that. Well, I was. On the mass sex. Don't worry about that. You have two hit songs out. Oh, that's true, actually.
Starting point is 00:11:05 A lot of people don't know that. Honest I'm going to have a good time. A thousand hands up to this guy. We actually recently re-listened to all of my music. And by all of it, of course, I mean my two hit songs. And let me tell you that shit is so good. Like, I was in Olivia's house. The kids were loving it.
Starting point is 00:11:20 Like, it's really a bop. It's honestly very kid-friendly, too. I don't curse. Yeah. I think I say sexy ones. I toast to the wild ones. You'll have to put out a clean version. Thousand percent.
Starting point is 00:11:31 Okay. Like I love coming up with dreams and aspirations. Do we have a list for that? I was just going to say. Like goals. I know we have a list of regrets. It's important to set goals and it's also important to remember the goals that you set. The hard part is not setting them.
Starting point is 00:11:44 The hard part is remembering what goals you set. And then the hard part is, like, how do you know if you achieve them? Achieving them. I feel like one of my big goals that I hit, like I really had this like obsession with performing at the vegan theater. And we've done it now like many times. Yeah, like old news. I think it was like two or three times. We have dream guests.
Starting point is 00:12:04 No. No. I don't really dream of interviewing anyone. So we should start a list called dreams. Okay. Dreams and like accomplishments. Goals, goals. Dreams and goals.
Starting point is 00:12:14 Just in case I don't know what the search term will be. Right, right. You dancing with the stars. Yeah, sure, throw me in there too. Okay. Dancing with the Stars for both of us with the brother duo. Yeah, of course. Or I'll be one of those contestants that dances with a girl.
Starting point is 00:12:26 I'll dance with Julianne and you can dance with Derek. And then, of course, being like a judge on a singing show. And, you know, I do think like a good. version of that, but I think I like burn the bridge by quitting in the middle of the show, is I could be a panelist on mass singer because I love to sing, obviously, but I also know a lot of pop culture. So I would say the bridge is burned. I actually wouldn't say I talked to, you know, the producer all the time and I just spoke to Dina the other day, the creator of the show. Like, we're all good. They were very supportive of mamas. But like, I'm sure they're whispering
Starting point is 00:12:58 about me behind my back. I mean, like, never bring that girl back here. Although I would just like truly love to be a panelist. I'll just put that out there. And they do have guest panelists. I think Rita Orra was a guest. And then as far as any other dreams, what about there? I feel like this conversation's coming up a lot now because there are all these like alumni shows of like traders, et cetera, that are like looking for influencers. So of course you think like, what about me? You know, potsters.
Starting point is 00:13:16 Right, right, right. Any of those are any of those in your dreams? No. No. Like, again, like I would be unreal on traitors. Like you have no idea. You've ever played that game with me, the faker? You know that game?
Starting point is 00:13:31 I don't know. I sort of block out. I know. It's the one you play on the TV that's not quip flash. No, they know. So it's like everybody gets a message on their phone and it says you're either the faker or you're not. And then they give you like a bunch of tasks, trivia.
Starting point is 00:13:42 And the faker doesn't get tasks or trivia. So they just have to like pretend to know what's going on. And then you all vote like as to each round who you think the faker is. And let me tell you I guess like the shit out of everyone, especially those Shapiro. So I think I would be amazing at traders. Although again, like the challenges I'm really not down to get it to. And doing my own glam for TV every day for three weeks. Not really.
Starting point is 00:14:03 better at that part that you think. Living in Scotland or where is it? Scotland. For like weeks on end without my family. Also, probably not. I feel like you could bring your family and it probably winds up being like two weeks. Okay. You know?
Starting point is 00:14:17 Yeah. Because it's like every day like two people go home. Yeah. It's kind of short. Just like also like being in such close quarters with like people I don't know. Like those shows. Worst as people you know. What do you mean?
Starting point is 00:14:29 Like what have you talked about them. Oh my God. Of course. A landmine for a pond. podcaster. Like, I just, I don't know, I don't know, but I think of all the shows that I'm most eligible for, it would probably be traders. Okay. Stay tuned. Yeah. I don't have to bring around my kilt, of course. So those are hopes and dreams. What are your hopes and dreams? Sound off in the comments. If you were
Starting point is 00:14:51 No, even just as a late person, I'm interested. What are people's dreams? Also, if you were an influencer, like what show would you want to be on? I feel like a lot of people would want to be on special forces. Really? Yeah. People not like us, but yeah. Wait, are you being serious? Yeah. Why? Because it's cool and intense and like it's a test of your physical and mental. But it's like really like insane amount of work for show nobody watches. Like with traitors and even dancing with the stars, there's such a payoff. Like you're putting in so much work physically, emotionally, mentally, but you are being rewarded with opportunities, followers, fame, brand deals. Literally nobody watches special forces.
Starting point is 00:15:23 I think some of our audience does. I'm telling you they don't. And you guys know, I can't talk about special forces about bringing up the fact that yes, I was asked to be on it. I was pregnant and I was never doing it. No, no, no. Even though if they had asked me one year earlier, I might have done it. Good thing they didn't. That was my peak physical year. Like, I could have, I could have not went home first. I would have went home like third. Yeah. Well, I think that's all my dreams for the day. Yeah. I love talking about our dreams. Not like nocturnal dreams because that's so boring except for the one of course you had last night.
Starting point is 00:15:53 But yes, hopes and dreams. Yeah, the theme of the week is dreams so far. Thunder only hat. You guys know I can. I can't sing when. I was going to sing. I'm pregnant. Dream, dream, dream. Oh, the Mila Cyrus, that's a good one. I was, of course, going for her because I'm more of like a...
Starting point is 00:16:08 Yeah, you got your head in the cloud. Oh, my God. That's not how this is. Oh, you got your head in the clouds. Whoa. You're only thinking out loud. The more you dream about me, the more that I believe that nothing's ever out of reach. So dream, dream, dream.
Starting point is 00:16:31 Dream. That's such an underrated song. Yeah. And that's in the Hannah Montana movie when she's finally coming to terms and she's getting ready for like the big it was kind of like this sort of powerful montage. Yes, it was.
Starting point is 00:16:43 Killing. You want to get into the stories? Oh, yeah. I just feel like maybe there's one. I'm like especially eager to talk about. Without further a do-da-d-do it is time for the fast-five stories that you need to know.
Starting point is 00:16:55 Oh, the fast five stories that you need to know are brought to you by Vivrelle, which we're so excited about. I actually brought my Vivaral back today. You know what? So did I. I borrowed this bag from Vavrelle months ago. Oh, so cute. Yeah, it's a Chanel duvail made of Raffia. Like, seriously, not a big deal.
Starting point is 00:17:08 Oh, mine is an Airmaze picotine. It's so cute, like a cute little Majin lunch bag. So if you don't have Vival yet, you are missing out. It's a member's only club where you can experience a rotating closet of designer bags and jewelry. The options are insane. They have, like I said, look at my Chanel bag, Louis Vuitton, Paris, Dior, all the brands that you really dream about. And it's super easy. Once you get accepted into the club, you just pick a piece that you want to borrow and it shows up at your door. The best part is, and what really sold us, is that there are no return dates.
Starting point is 00:17:33 Like I said, I've had this bag for months. You can keep a piece for as long as you want. You can swap it out monthly when you're ready for something new. If you're taking a trip and you want like a designer beach bag, which is just like an insane thing to buy. You can borrow one from Vavrelle. It's so smart. Their most popular tier is the classic tier. It's $139 a month.
Starting point is 00:17:49 It makes sense because the value you get is really crazy. They're constantly refreshing the inventory. So it always feels like you're walking in to a new designer boutique and have something new to try. Insurance. You're welcome. Our first story, Kylie Jenner, is getting into acting. She will be starring in a new series called Bachelorette Weekend.
Starting point is 00:23:39 It is a thriller going to Hulu. Kim Kardashian will be producing as well as Lauren Oliver and Capital Entertainment. So Kylie Jenner is set to headline and executive produced Bachelorette Weekend, working title. thriller drama that is finalizing a deal for the straight to series order at Hulu. Deadline has learned. This marks the first major role for Kylie, who is following the career trajectory of her older sister, Kim, a reality star in Mogul, now branching into acting and producing. So in the series, a Bachelorette weekend turns deadly. Oh, spooky.
Starting point is 00:24:12 When the bride, Kylie, winds up murdered in the pool. Oh, so she's like barely going to be in it because she's dead. And her closest girlfriends all become suspects. Jenner's role is described as the North Star of the series, which pieces together the events that led to the murder. So maybe she said... No, she's dead, and then it's all flashbacks. Like how it always is.
Starting point is 00:24:32 Okay, like merit from... We show starts. There's a body in the pool. The rest of the series is what happened before. Okay. Let me start out positive by saying, Kylie recently got into acting in that terrible movie. I saw her scene. She did amazing. Like, she actually did a good job. So she's obviously going to the Timothy Shalmer,
Starting point is 00:24:49 my school of acting, very rigorous, and maybe she can do it. She's a star people. She's a star people. The concept of the show sounds good. If it wasn't like this Kylie Kim production, maybe I would have said, oh, this sounds like a good show. You're like a good book. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:25:02 The word thriller is really confusing to me because when I heard she's in a thriller, I'm like, oh, ghost and goblins. That's what I thought spooky. But no, it's like a psychological. Yeah. I don't know what, murder mystery. Murder mystery. A lot of the books that we read.
Starting point is 00:25:13 I feel like it's really. I call it a thriller when I read one of those books. But it's really like murder mystery, but I feel like people. don't like that. Because it has like a tacky kind of thing. It does. Yeah, a thousand percent. So they say thriller, but thriller just sounds like, you know, someone running through the woods with an axe. Now, to be negative, I just like can't understand why Kylie would want to do this. Because one, like, Kylie doesn't do anything. So if there's stuff she's going to do, like, girl, like make a TikTok, like we would love to see that. Like, of all the things I want to see from
Starting point is 00:25:41 Kylie, this is probably last on the list. And two, like, I know that Net Net Net, Hulu is probably really happy with Kim's All-Fare show because everyone was talking about it, albeit negatively, but like it was huge. Like it was, the ratings were insane. People were just curious at how bad a show could be. But ratings are ratings, you know? Yeah. So I don't know like Net Net, if Kim looks back on that, like it was a good thing or a bad
Starting point is 00:26:04 thing, but I think they are doing season two, right? They are. I think. So like it's like a freak show, like circus. People can't look away. And like that's so not Kylie. Like Kylie's so reserved. She does nothing.
Starting point is 00:26:15 Like she literally leaves her house five times a year. We never get to see her. We never get to consume her. I feel like we don't really like even know her. And when she does do things like that really let us in, like pass the piss. like everyone loved it. And this is like, first of all, we're not going to get to know her at all because she's like playing an actress. And two, like, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:26:33 Like this is what you're doing. Like we've been, we want so much. We want like more kind of cosmetics. Like we want Timothy. We went YouTube story. Story me. Bachelorette weekend. Why?
Starting point is 00:26:42 Like literally why? I don't know why. However, it's a way to work without having to like. give over a part of herself. She is public and private, like her relationships private. And so I don't think she wants to be making more vlogs or doing more podcasts. I think those things are fun once in a while and, you know, show everyone like who she is and we all have a chuckle. But like no one wants to actually do that all the time.
Starting point is 00:27:05 No, like the Kardashians specifically when they're working. Like they're just sort of like exploiting their selves, their family. So I understand why Kylie, who doesn't have to do that doesn't do it, although that is what we want from her. Yeah. And when they do it, they also do it on the show. And she doesn't even do that. So I think the idea of acting is attractive to her. And the fact that she was good at it is also attractive.
Starting point is 00:27:26 And I think that like this could be really good. Like what if she's a really good actress? And then we get to like watch her and have a good show. The thing is though that like we said the same thing about Kim. Because like Kim doesn't do anything less than 100%. She took all the acting class. And like it wasn't good. No, but did we ever have like a moment where we thought she was a good actress?
Starting point is 00:27:46 Yeah, I feel like we saw her in like cameos and stuff And we were like Because when you are doing like a 30 second spot on something It's so easy to crush it Like oh you saw her in the Emma Roberts American Horror Story And wasn't she in She was famously in that episode of 90210 With Naomi where Naomi wants free clothes from Dash
Starting point is 00:28:05 She did a bunch of cameos back in the day Yeah, no and so like little things over time Where it's like okay well how hard is acting Like it's not But to be like the anchor of the whole show Is hard and I don't know I wasn't like dazzled by Kim
Starting point is 00:28:19 no but I'm not gonna punish Kylie for that no no and of course Kylie does have that Kim didn't have which is Timothy who is like he's actually like on his way to becoming one of the greatest actors and I don't think Timothy would let her act if he didn't think she could he vetted the script he did everything
Starting point is 00:28:35 yeah and he knows that like his girl has talent because that would be really awkward for him if he's like this amazing actor like generational right and she has like a razzie for a wife like it's actually not an option failure's not an option no so I have confidence in Timothy and I do have confidence in Kylie I do and don't you feel like Kim maybe this is just like me projecting my own thoughts like regrets a little bit the dabble into acting no because I feel like so much of the news we read about her recently is like her taking on more of a production role she
Starting point is 00:29:11 has that new show about like the team moms not teen moms the team moms about the moms in sports and now she's producing this Kylie thing. So maybe she's taking more of a back seat. Maybe, but I don't think so. I feel like she still thinks like All's Fair, like crushed it. I was going to say it's all fair season two.
Starting point is 00:29:29 And remember when we were watching the show and she had this like big meeting at Netflix and they sold through this like comedy that was going to be the next bridesmaids? I'm sorry, like literally 18 minutes ago on Variety All's Fair Season 2 to launch from Rome film festival with Kim Kardashian, Naomi Watts, Nisi Nash,
Starting point is 00:29:44 and Sarah Paulson attending. So not only are they bringing back for season two, they're bringing it back bigger than ever. Okay. But she also had like a movie that's supposed to come out. I don't know if they filmed it. Remember she was pitching it on the show? Yes.
Starting point is 00:29:56 And wasn't, someone was in it. Wait, we talked about it here. Yes. Like it was star studded. Star studded. It's going to be. Amy Schumer, right?
Starting point is 00:30:05 Yeah, yeah, yeah. What happened to that? I don't know. Like, I hate this era for Kim. Like, I think it makes no sense. And it kind of like always makes you think about what Courtney was saying when they were fighting. and Courtney who like, you know, famously doesn't work.
Starting point is 00:30:17 And she, they're both extreme on either end. But Courtney's like, why is like, it's never enough. It's just like excess all the time to prove everyone wrong. And it's like, why can you just be happy with that you have? Like skims and just being famous. Like, why is that not enough? And like dabbling in different things. And so, yeah, it's like, why are you doing all this?
Starting point is 00:30:33 Like when we were watching her like study for the bar at the All's Fair thing, like staying in a hotel, missing her family. And it's like, you didn't even pass the bar and the show stunk. It's like, why? Yeah. Like literally why? Yeah. Like that would just never be me.
Starting point is 00:30:46 No, and that's how I feel about Kim, but I don't want to, you know. Project that onto Kylie. Yeah. And pre-judge. I'm holding space for like this maybe being good because Kylie doesn't do anything bad. Yeah. We did say that about Kim before she proceeded to do all these things poorly. Well, that was before she was on a great run.
Starting point is 00:31:05 Right. We said Kim operates at a level that is just pure excellency. And that was the case. But then like, I think she really overcommitted herself to like all these different passions. And in addition to being like, being the Skims founder is like, Like I'm a greed level. Like it's enough for five people. But then she has to do the show and she has to do the acting and she has to take the bar.
Starting point is 00:31:21 And she has to do skincare line and she has to do makeup line and she has to do Sky Ventures. Sky Ventures. Skycukai. That was a crazy time. Yeah, she does too much and she ended up doing a lot of things poorly as opposed to like a few things really well. Kylie does very, very few things, but they all. So I have to imagine that if she's tape. But we said the same exact thing about Kim.
Starting point is 00:31:41 Well, let's see, shall we? Yeah. It does sound like a good show. I think we said the same thing about also. I don't know why I'm really thinking of it like the perfect couple on Netflix, which was a bad show, but it's based on a book where it's like somebody dies and then we spend the whole time like getting into the tarred.
Starting point is 00:31:57 A lot of shows are like that. It's a good trope. It is. It is. And if she's the bride, maybe that's the closest will ever see her as a bride. With a ring on her finger. That's exciting for the thing.
Starting point is 00:32:08 She probably came home from that day of shooting, like the day of the wedding, just like in her dress. I was like, Tim. Timmy. Are you ready for our next story? I feel like I need to choose it because it's been sent to me 1,000 times. And also like, yeah, T. Michaela Nigerro went on Jay Shetty.
Starting point is 00:32:24 Yes, she did. So Michaela Nigerro declined her invitation to namesake to instead bring her story to Jay Shetty. And let me say she's a bitch for that. Like, seriously. Why would she want to go on a fake invented show that has no episode? Instead, she went to Jay Shetty to talk about her divorce. talked about a lot of things, and I have to say, perfect place for Michaela.
Starting point is 00:32:46 She's never done really a long-form interview, and there's so much lore around her. Obviously, people are now, like, obsessed with her divorce and her relationship, but just, like, even her rise to fame and the accent, and she really talked about it all. I will say, I found the interview, like, really endearing.
Starting point is 00:32:59 Like, she came out so honest. Like, and there were some really ugly parts of her divorce, like, because, you know, it involves addiction, and, you know, I think a lot of people judge you when you, like, leave your partner in addiction, but, like, at what cost? Yeah. Like, I actually really respect her decision,
Starting point is 00:33:12 and how she explained it. And I know it's so stupid, but I'm kind of getting hung up on the accent thing because she talked about it and I didn't really like feel what she was saying. And I think that she has slowly started
Starting point is 00:33:24 to drop the accent, but it has been the most... What did she say? She basically said that like, you know, when she's around her family, like, you know, she leans into it more and the first video she ever posted actually didn't have that accent.
Starting point is 00:33:34 And then she just started like, you know, playing it up and then leaning into it because it gave her like so much attention. And then she just became this like version of herself. she didn't recognize. Obviously the voice,
Starting point is 00:33:43 but like all of it. She was like hiding what she was going through in her divorce and just like not being real at all. She was like my whole, like everything was fake. Like literally everything.
Starting point is 00:33:51 And is she trying? Well, because sometimes it's nice to have like a version, an online version of yourself. That you can separate. That you like take the mask off and you're like, okay,
Starting point is 00:33:57 and that you have really good delineation. But is she trying to like strip it back and show up now? Or as K. Yes. No. It was just very jarring because mostly because like she probably said
Starting point is 00:34:08 the word divorce 100 times in the, the interview and like to hear her say divorce like literally just divorce I was shocked divorce like she can't say up until recently like she couldn't say the letter R that's like what people you know the pock and it was extremely distracting you know that reminds me of grace O'Malley too yeah but I think she does talk like that she plays it up like for fun but like when she's having a real conversation she talks normally and when Michaela was having real conversations on the internet she was not talking normally real conversations with who?
Starting point is 00:34:42 Like to camera, like 10-minute videos. Like, yeah. It wasn't just a bit. It was like any time she was on camera. Yeah. It's like a wig. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:50 That, I can understand that. Yeah. I can understand pretty much all of her decision making. Like, I'm always defending Michaela. And I feel like it's also like, you know, it gets people like talk. And you try being, and we're all quoting her. Right. It's a bit.
Starting point is 00:35:04 It's, I don't think, I don't think there's something so wrong with that. Um, I don't. I think that's what Grace O'Malley does. Like, she goes. She goes hard. Every time I see a clip of her, it's like more and more of an accent. With Grace O'Malley, it's very clear that it's a bit. She's not lying and pretending that this is how she talks, you know, at night to her boyfriend.
Starting point is 00:35:22 Oh, it is a bit? Oh, 1,000%. Oh, okay. 100%. Her and Brianna used to, like, do it together. It was like their thing. Like, because they're both like from that area. Michaela, I think was like genuinely trying to convince people that how she talks.
Starting point is 00:35:35 And I understand having like a delineation between your public and your private self. And like, I actually really respect that. I just feel like it's like a real commitment. Like it's crazy. Because her natural voice, which we've now heard for, you know, the first time, is so different. It's like Paris Hilton too. Yes. She doesn't even have like a little bit of a Boston accent.
Starting point is 00:35:55 Like not even a little. Well, that's strange. When I was watching the clip, Jackie. I didn't notice anything. Ask one person from Boston to say the word divorce. I just thought she was like doing her serious. Like I didn't even notice there was something different about her voice. But I'm not like so clued into her voice.
Starting point is 00:36:06 But no, the Paris Hilton comparison is actually a very good one. Yeah. Paris Hilton has like the voice that she uses as Paras Hilton. and then she's got like a... You guys would die, she has a man voice. Yeah. And she shared that in her YouTube documentary, but I don't know if she had ever shared it before.
Starting point is 00:36:20 That she does, like the voices for the public. But you know what it is? It's like the internet is so parisocial. And like it really makes people think that like, your relationship with Paris Hilton, it's just like not the same as your relationship with your favorite influencer. Like for some reason, it's just deeper than that.
Starting point is 00:36:32 So I think you sort of demand a level of transparency from your influencers. That's borderline, like unreasonable. Because it's their job. Like, I mean, you don't demand a. that from Paris Hilton or your favorite celebrity. Yeah. But at the end of the day, like an influencer's job is to entertain. I feel like people think influencers just have to be relatable.
Starting point is 00:36:50 And that's how, like, you're a successful influencer. But like, that's not true. Like, you could be aspirational. You could be inspirational. You could be educational. You could be just funny. You could be entertaining. So the idea that like everyone has to like strip it back and, you know, show you
Starting point is 00:37:04 themselves naked is like, that's not the only way to be a successful influencer. That's very true. So when people say like. But Jackie. When people say so and so. isn't relatable, like, okay. Fine. So.
Starting point is 00:37:14 It's not a crime. No, but like, not everyone has to, like, be relatable or authentic. That's not what everybody's, like, beat niche. But if you're coming to the table, in the spirit of that, like, a lot of Michaela's content is and was, you know, being real about insecurities and, like, being very authentic, relatable, every girl. If you come up as, like, being the relatable girl. It's like, Ellen, you come up being the nice girl.
Starting point is 00:37:38 You have to be nice to everyone. Yes. And so when you come up being, like, the relatable girl who's on. honest about, you know, her, she does talk about, like, you know, her insecurities and procedures she has done. She shared when she got lip filler. Like, um, and then you're, like, kind of harboring this, like, huge secret. Like, it's, it is in Congress. Yes. But I like the call that, like, demanding all your favorite influencers remain completely related, relatable to you. And not aspirational. Like, you just have to be real. Why? No, and it's like,
Starting point is 00:38:06 I don't want to watch a hundred real people. I want to watch a, I have my favorites that are real and I relate to them. I have my favorites that I'm interested by them. I'm favorites that I'm just like, oh, I feel like a fly on the wall. You know, like, ballerine, I just want to like watch. You know, I, so I don't know why everyone wants to be watching everyone who, like, seems relatable to them. No, and I think when like a female influencer gets like really successful, the thing that people like to say is like, she's not relatable
Starting point is 00:38:32 anymore. Good. Like, she succeeded. Like, relevance? I don't understand. Yeah, no. And it's like a big knock. They're like, I can't watch her anymore. She's not relatable. Yeah. Just say you're not happy for someone's success. Yeah. It's exactly what it is. Miguel seemed really sound of mind.
Starting point is 00:38:47 And you can relate to someone for like other reasons other than them. You have different lifestyles. Like you. Like I can relate to someone else who's a mom. They could be doing it in such a different way. They could have a different amount of kids. But like we can relate. On a human level.
Starting point is 00:39:00 Yeah. It doesn't have to be just because. So equal. Like one to one. Yeah. In the interview she see. She did cry, of course, because like a lot of what she's talking about is very deep. But she sounded really sound of mind.
Starting point is 00:39:13 She sounded healed. Of course, people have, like, criticisms about her new relationship. Like, is it too fast? She's doing a lot of the things with him that she did with Cody, like buying him Louis Vuitton jackets. But I don't know. She seemed really good. Good, yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:24 So she talked about her divorce and, like, why she got a divorce and what really happened in their relationship. And it seemed like... It was not good. It was not good. So he relapsed. Well, she also said that, like, at the time when they had met, he was in the stage of his recovery
Starting point is 00:39:40 where you're not supposed to get into a room. relationship. And I don't think she really fully realized that to like deep into the relationship. And also this around the time they met, shit really takes off for her in like in a crazy way. So they said like when they met, you know, day one, they're more of on an equal playing field. She said he's freshly sober. He's confident about life. He's feeling good and he wants to share it with someone. We were both in really the same exact position of going through a massive change and wanting to share it with someone. She said that he really struggled with her level of fame in the spotlight that it brought to him, noting that her star power was only continuing to grow in
Starting point is 00:40:11 the early days of their relationship. She said, I don't think he or I understood the scale of what was going to be. He was very, very supportive and open to it. But I think he very quickly realized that it was a lot more challenging than he thought. Especially because he's dealing with his own shit, which is so new. Yes. And she starts to deal with stuff, you know, like all of the hate and backlash. And he doesn't know how to be there for her.
Starting point is 00:40:32 And how can you really even be there for someone? You can't. Like you're on so much of your own journey. It's so fresh. So he feels alone. She feels alone. It's literally like a recipe for disaster. She said he could be by my side and support me and try to help me through it, but he couldn't physically do anything.
Starting point is 00:40:45 He struggled a lot with that, and so did I. That's sad. Yeah. She talked about one of the scariest nights in her life a few years after they got married, when she found him unconscious at home. She called the police. Everything ended up being okay, but she said that moment was really scary. She said during the last year of their marriage, she started to feel that he had become a completely different person from the man she married, and she started to recognize that she couldn't give him the support she needed.
Starting point is 00:41:07 She said, I wanted to be there for Cody, and I wanted to help him as much as I could, but I knew that he was the one that had to be the one to be sober and to get sober. And I was giving my all to try to be the best partner for him. But my job is so demanding and so exhausting and so busy. And I think he needed a partner who was there more. So she said it's interesting how my career is the thing that played a massive role in the destruction of my marriage, but also what saved me from the destruction. Well, yes.
Starting point is 00:41:30 But I also think that's unfair of her to say to herself that, like, her career was such a big. I think the biggest thing is like, that's why the rule is that you're not allowed to date when you're in the program for the first year. he struggled with drugs and alcohol like on a pretty severe level so I would say even more than a year that's probably I didn't I don't know if I realized that like I thought when they had met
Starting point is 00:41:47 like he had been actively sober for a really long time not that he had it under control but it wasn't like such an imminent threat I think like she's putting a lot of the blame on herself which is sad obviously no marriage is perfect but when you're starting out there and then of course like the fame of it all in money
Starting point is 00:42:02 but I feel like she really is like beating herself up too much yeah I hope that like she can and, you know, find people. But it's also like, she's not going to go on this show and be like, well, he's drug addicted and so I like. Yeah, she has to take responsibility. Yeah, like, you know, and just be like, these are the reasons why I couldn't be the right partner to him.
Starting point is 00:42:22 This is how I coped. This is what I did. She's not just going to be like, he's bad. I'm great. And I'm out because that's, yeah, rude. No, it is. And it's like, you don't need to go on a show to tell us that. And I think she's very aware of how people criticize her in all the different ways, but especially
Starting point is 00:42:37 as it relates, it's very sensitive, like to. Of course. with somebody who's having addiction and like being there for them like up into a certain point like seriously at what cost how long how many things are we going to destroy just for the sake of like me being there for you sometimes like really the best thing you can do is just like protect yourself and get out yeah which like I think some people would say like that's selfish like okay it's self-preservation like no I really respect her yeah and she's a new boyfriend and she seems really happy and she's like constantly doing her luxury shopping hall she just did one it was like somebody calculated
Starting point is 00:43:05 not relatable Claudia no not not relatable not relatable not relatable um What is you get? She went to Chanel. Okay. She got a bunch of shoes and bags. Anything that I would like? No. I feel like you guys have actually really different style.
Starting point is 00:43:20 And so you know what? And in that sense, I would not relate to that. No, and I love to see then people telling it up, you know, because she doesn't say what she spent, but she shows all the items. A couple hundred Gs, you know? 100? She does that, like a couple times a year. That's so great.
Starting point is 00:43:37 I think people also really underestimate how much money she makes. It's insane. And if you're going to go into a category as an influencer and you want to make the most amount of money, like you do go to makeup. Makeup, I think, is the most profitable. She's at the top of the game. And she was really the first, like on TikTok. She has 15 million followers.
Starting point is 00:43:59 She does all these collabs. Of course, like Brandeil, she does so much TikTok shop. Like, and she has said that, like, she is not interested in having kids. So, like, she's not saving for anything. Like, she's just living her life. Oh, interesting. About a $4 million. I didn't know that about Kayla.
Starting point is 00:44:13 Yes, she said, like, that's not a part of her journey. Oh, interesting. Also, shout out to Jay Shetty. I feel like he sort of, like, moved into, like, this new, like, digital's and influencer space where he was doing, like, a lot of athletes, like, very high-level politicians. Yeah, but. Which is boring. Yeah, we want to hear from these people.
Starting point is 00:44:29 No, and it's, like, it's amazing. Like, he has had Kobe Bryant on his podcast. Like, literally nobody can say that. And that's great. But he's really, like, evolving with the time. Uh-huh. And I agree. It's kind of.
Starting point is 00:44:39 He's evolving in a part of. way. Yeah, I think a lot of people when they have like trauma, I think the places where you used to go would be like call her daddy and maybe that's it. And a few years ago, Michaela would have gone on call her daddy. Yeah. And now I feel like he's kind of, if somebody has like something serious to talk about, they're really going to Jay. Like who was just Emily Kaiser? Yeah. Yeah. I think that he's doing a great job. Yeah. Are you ready for our next story? Three, a little podcasting news. Yeah, I'm ready. Some exciting podcasting news. So the Golden Globe. which now have a best podcast award category.
Starting point is 00:45:13 Year two. Have released their short list for podcasts eligible for the Golden Globes. So we spoke about this last year because we were like, oh, they're doing a new category of best podcasts. Are they just choosing from like anyone on earth? Could they choose us? And Jaguar was like, no, they can't. They like come together with this list of like 30 shows.
Starting point is 00:45:29 So the criteria is used by Luminate. It's detailed in the Golden Globes Awards. It's based on charts, downloads, trends, rankings, culture, etc. and they put out a list of 30 shows that are eligible to be nominated. So when we get the list of nominations in the Golden Globes, it will be one of five of these 30 shows. Is it five? Oh, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:45:49 How many things get nominated? I don't know. That's fine. Like maybe five to seven? Seven feels right. Okay. So let's say six. Okay.
Starting point is 00:45:56 Amy Polar won last year. She was famously up against her ex-husband Smartless. Oh, yes. Six nominees. Who was nominated last year? Smartless. Let me see if I can remember. Mel Robbins.
Starting point is 00:46:07 Call her daddy. Amy Polar. They must have had like a sports one on there. It was part of my take. Was it? The Daily? The daily for sure. Okay, so call her daddy.
Starting point is 00:46:21 So we're starting fresh. Call her daddy. Amy Polar. Armchair expert. Smartless. Mel Robbins. Up first. I don't know that one.
Starting point is 00:46:29 NPR. Okay. Well, these are the 30 eligibles this year. Bad friends. That's Andrews. You've definitely seen the graphic. Who is it? Andrew Santino, the redhead of the comedian.
Starting point is 00:46:41 You definitely know like the poster. Yeah. Behind the bastards. Oh my God. What? That's what it says. Call her daddy. Of course.
Starting point is 00:46:50 Conan O'Brien needs a friend. Industry plant. That's what it is. Crime junkie. Dateline NBC. Isn't that a show? Oh, I guess I have a podcast too. Good Hang with Amy Polar.
Starting point is 00:47:01 She's definitely getting nominated again. Las Colchristas with Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang. Less coach? As a kid's call it. Love Trapped. I don't know what. Matt and Shane's secret podcast had Shane Gillis. Morbid.
Starting point is 00:47:13 Of course. Mr. Ballin podcast, Strange, Dark, and Mysterious Stories. They have to cover all the genres. They can't just do, like, yeah. Until they have the potty's. Of course, of course. We can break out by category. Of course.
Starting point is 00:47:24 My favorite murder. Yeah. New Heights. Oh. To them. That's a good one. I feel like they'll get the nomination. Just so Taylor comes to the Golden Globe.
Starting point is 00:47:32 Not just so. No, of course. Not just so. And there were, of course, of course, of course. part of my take huge for the digital community Pod Save America Classic
Starting point is 00:47:42 Revisionist history I don't know it Rotten Mango I don't know it I think they mean rotten tomato Oh maybe it's like a movie Maybe Smartless
Starting point is 00:47:51 Of course Jeff you should know Yeah I feel like they were nominated Last year too I've seen him around town Bill Simmons The Ringer Yeah
Starting point is 00:47:59 The Daily Classic Classic Joe Rogan I feel like last year He wasn't on the list I remember us talking about it and it was like kind of validated the list.
Starting point is 00:48:07 Yes, agreed. Megan Kelly. Mm-hmm. Mel Robbins, your girl. Classic. Sean Ryan Show. I don't know him. The toast.
Starting point is 00:48:19 That was so hard for us. I know. Like, not a litter giving actress. Like that was good. We could win a Golden Club. Yeah, okay. Wait, finish the list and then we'll talk about like. Oh, the toast, Tagger Carlson Show, this American Life, this past weekend with The Ovon.
Starting point is 00:48:31 You guys, that's what we were, like, sitting on our hands to say. When I tell you, I didn't sleep. When Claudia, you called me last night, was like, your text, it was for this, not dancing with the stars. Well, our publicist call me at 8 p.m., which is never good, and she never calls. And my stomach, like, actually fell out. I was like, what? She's like, did you hear? And I was like,
Starting point is 00:48:48 oh my God. Who was writing an article about us? Like, I was in hell. And she's, like, you guys are on the shirt list for the goals and gloves. And I was like, what? First of all, I didn't know that was coming out. I didn't know this was coming out. So I didn't know this is something we should be looking out for. I didn't know that was happening. The idea that we would be on the list, like literally never even crossed my mind.
Starting point is 00:49:05 This, I wouldn't even put this on my goals list because I didn't know was an option. Yeah. And I seriously, like, I didn't sleep a wink. Like, I cannot stop thinking about it. I feel like I'm going to make it a big deal today. And then we're going to drop it because we don't like to make things a big deal. But we have to just, like, talk about how huge this is.
Starting point is 00:49:22 Okay. I feel like, you know, we sit in our little studio and we just talk to each other. And, like, sometimes it feels like no one's listening. And it's like, we're huge. Like, we're literally huge. We're on the list. Like, I'm sorry. I will never get over this.
Starting point is 00:49:34 And I genuinely, we haven't not been nominated. And I just want to say, I know we're not going to be. And it's fine. This is perfect for me. But I just want to say, for the first time in my life, I understand why people say, like, it's an honor to be nominated. Like, it's literally an honor to be on the list of potential nominees. Like, honor doesn't even cover it. Like, I'm not okay.
Starting point is 00:49:55 I will never be okay from this. Like, when I saw her name, I'm like, what is our web show doing on this list? Like, I, I'm sorry. Like, this is the biggest deal ever. I'm sorry. It is. And I'm going to stop saying I'm sorry because I'm not even sorry. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:08 And so we had to add it to our list of like huge crazy things that we've done. Because in our career, like, things have come and go. And we forget that. Like we've kind of done like some cool things over the year. Because we just, whatever happens that day, the next day we show up and do the toast. Like it's a stabilizer. We keep a move in. So we did update our list of like accomplishments that we might have forgotten about.
Starting point is 00:50:24 To include being on the list of eligibles. And once again, like, I mean, it would be honored to be nominated for the short list. But like, there's no expectation. We're so honored just to be nominated. And also what was cool? So then we were like, what did they go by for this? Like, where did they find us? And it really is based on like numbers and popularity and things that mean everything to me, numbers and popularity.
Starting point is 00:50:45 Like I can't. I can't. Yeah. And you know what? The reason why I'm like freaking out about this is because you guys know how much like external validation means to me. And I know I'm not supposed to. And we never get any. We never.
Starting point is 00:50:57 And I know I'm not supposed to care. Right. And I'm trying. I'm trying. Like I'm just a girl. And like my name is on the Golden Globes website. Like seriously. I need to write a song about this.
Starting point is 00:51:07 Like I'm so. emotional, I think that I should write a song or somebody should write one for me. It's based on unique listeners and viewers, total downloads and streams, completion rate, like how many people finish the episode, subscriber count, audience retention, chart rankings, featured listings. So that's a number of curated editorial placements across platforms. Which we don't have a lot of. But let me just say this.
Starting point is 00:51:27 Especially after my nightmare. Before I continue, we just have to say, like, what was the metric? Like, listener retainership? Like, we have the best listeners. Like, should they listen? every day. That's like so crazy. And they finish the episode. Yeah, right. Like our metrics are so strong like because of you guys. Like, can't thank you bitches enough. Like for real. Like this means the world to me.
Starting point is 00:51:52 I also think that like, while yes, these are like the biggest shows, I think what went, what went on for that show in that year? Because like armchair expert is not on this list. But I don't think that means it's not huge. I think that like maybe they made no cultural impact this year. And I feel like this year was actually like an amazing time to be a pop culture swirly, like given all the different Schumandoval, Bachelorette, Secret Lies. So I'd like to thank, you know, the women of reality TV and pop culture celebrities, like, for making our job so fun. That's true. That's true.
Starting point is 00:52:22 Some years are big for pop culture and some years or not. This was a particularly, like, good year. Yeah. No, I just, like, thank you so much. Like, we're on the list. Like, I can't, I can't. And we're, like, always reading these lists. We're always reading these lists.
Starting point is 00:52:35 And, of course, we expect nothing. We love reading lists. And, like, we really, we love reading lists. We read this list last year. We are very happy, like, people. in our station. Of course. Oh, no, no. And like, I keep saying, like, I, I actually believe, like, in no world will we get nominated. And I think that's perfect. We always say we want to be, like, 50 feet from stardom. And, like, being on the list before the list,
Starting point is 00:52:54 yeah, is the perfect placement. So us. It's literally giving Celine Dion's personal chef. Like, like, if anyone's listening, like, don't. Don't miss. Don't not nominate us because we're, like, make jokes. Like, of course, I will bottle my ass. Like, do what you're going to do. Like, do what you're going to do. Nine months pregnant. We're going. Like, oh, if we're nominated that we were going. Do what you're going to do based on your limit data. Like if we were to get nominated, like we want it not because, you know, we have an end. We want it because we earned it, you know?
Starting point is 00:53:25 And we earned it. And we most certainly don't have an in. Who are we to like get in the way of what we've earned? Yeah, right. So do your thing. Now let's take ourselves out of the equation for three seconds and just do our predictions for who we think will be nominated. I actually think this year Call Her Daddy will not be nominated.
Starting point is 00:53:41 I think just like we were saying, like certain years, you have more impact on culture than others. And I think that this is just not her year. Okay. So I'm going to- But I do think repeats will be Amy Poehler, because you don't win and they're not going to nominate us. Yeah. Amy Poehler, I don't know, I kind of feel like, did you feel like smartless is like a little like falling off a little bit? They don't do video.
Starting point is 00:53:58 Like, it's insane. How can you have a podcast without video? I agree. I wouldn't be surprised. I would think New Heights would be nominated. Did they have Taylor on this year? No. But they've like maintained like huge numbers.
Starting point is 00:54:09 I agree. Like Joe Rogan Just for metric's sake Like Should be But wouldn't be Right I also feel like
Starting point is 00:54:18 No I feel like maybe this year he would be Or they'll do like one of those podcasts Like Joe Ron Yeah Um I don't know There's not like a standout winner Like last time
Starting point is 00:54:28 It was clearly Amy Polar And I feel like this year It's like clearly us Honestly I think so It's just like Because I am me But I feel like it's us
Starting point is 00:54:38 Well, the argument can be made that's always been us. Well, you guys don't want to go there. That's the episode about the chip. Like, you guys don't want to go there. No, the chip is taking a back seat today. We're just feeling very grateful. Oh, my God. No, by the way, the chip has been eaten, like, just for today.
Starting point is 00:54:57 So thank you to everyone. Seriously, thank you to everyone. Oh, Jackie, I always want to say this. Thank you to the Hollywood Farm Press. Like, yeah. What you see in us, like we've always, of course, seen in ourselves, but it is really nice to be validated by an institution. such as yourself. So to the Hollywood Farm Press, I love you. And maybe because we're obviously
Starting point is 00:55:15 not going to be nominated, like should we give our speech? Let's wait. Let's wait to see. Like, why are you making a beta come late? Once we officially are nominated, I will be putting on a ball gown and giving my speech here. I love that. Okay. Yeah. But like have a hope, turdy. Yeah. Are you ready for our next story? Like no, because we're on the list. And you guys, like we went like 50 minutes without mentioning it, which I think was pretty cool. Cool, pretty admirable. We were being so weird in the beginning. I hope. you guys stuck around long enough to like hear why people are like why would I listen to this show no she she was like she called me to say something great that I'm not going to tell you we were being so
Starting point is 00:55:47 secret project we were we were just like trying to be cool okay it won't happen again let us just give us give us this one day to be insufferable and then I promise we'll go back to being like cool comic collected tomorrow are you ready for our next story our fourth oh no I'm not if it's our next story a new sponsor alert that I could not be more excited about mammas listen up today's episode is brought to you by the Tony box it's about time the Tony box light is the screen-free audio player that's big on listening and small and size. Starting point is 01:01:07 Thank you, T-U-R-T. You're welcome. Okay, our next story, Summerhouse star Bailey, is fighting with Dave Portnoy for allegedly copying her It Girl brand. So, Bailey... Again, this happened, this happened like a few years ago. Well, I didn't know this was happening, but I didn't know there were two It girls out there.
Starting point is 01:01:26 So I remember when it happened. Bailey was not on Summerhouse. Like, we had no idea who she was, but she was doing content before SummerHouse. Like Man on the Street interviews. She has like a series called It Girl. where she interviews it girls, like on the street talking about, like, being it girls and who's your it girl? And I think it was that type of work that got her eligible for Summerhouse. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:41 And now, obviously, the series has blown up, such a hit, Erica Jane on it, because she's now on Summerhouse. But I remember at the time, we didn't know who she was, but I remember this scandal of a girl claiming that Barstool was copying their stick because Barstool, like, has all these different, like, media channels. They have a bunch of different Instagram accounts. They have ones for girls, ones for guys. And they had this, like, Instagram account called Chicks. that was like female con how men like it was literally like
Starting point is 01:02:05 we think girls will like this and they were just like putting up memes about girlhood and it got like a lot of followers and then they started to do like their own content as supposed to becoming like an aggregate and they changed it from chicks
Starting point is 01:02:14 to it girl and they started making like making content how barstool does having like celebrities come in doing man on the street stuff I was I saw their stuff all the time and actually there wasn't really a host it was like
Starting point is 01:02:24 people from Love Island like answering the most Google questions about them yeah it's like a content stop for like press people but when they had done the rebrand, this random girl at the time, named Bailey, made a video saying,
Starting point is 01:02:37 like, I do It Girl, you guys are copying my name. And she got a lot of heat at the time because, like, It Girl, she didn't come up with. It's just a phrase. It's just a phrase. So, like, they have the same name as you, but they're not doing the same content as you. Like, no, and like, it's just a phrase.
Starting point is 01:02:51 And it's not one that you could even really trademark. And so that's the risk that you run when you just use a name. So she got, like, a lot of heat. Like Dave made a video because people were like, it was just a little absurd, the claim at the time. Okay. And Dave responded being like, who are you? Like obviously classic like mean Dave.
Starting point is 01:03:10 And it's always been like a part of Bailey's lore. And then she reignited it yesterday. Okay. So then she reignited it and posted a clip. That It Girl had posted on the Verity Red Carpet. And she said, I received death threats for weeks over this. And it was an exact copy all along like I said it was. Bullied for weeks.
Starting point is 01:03:28 And I was telling people the truth. And people believed this guy's stool president. And she had said, not only did they steal her name, but at the time when she made that initial claim that Barstool employees were watching her stories. And then they like went and were copying like caption for caption. Well, that is crazy, by the way. That what? That she said that? If they're watching her stories and at the Jackie, she was so random.
Starting point is 01:03:50 Like seriously, it wasn't even popular. So that's why people were like, you making this claim is insane because nobody even knows your show. But if people like, if she can prove that, that is crazy. Yeah. So she said, you all got up. this video blew up is because I think her thing is that she'll ask her man on the street people like who's an it girl right now. And so this it girl barstool account went on the very red carpet as just like one of the stops on the red carpet. They interviewed it in halfway and they asked her like
Starting point is 01:04:12 who's an it girl right now. So it's like she thinks that that's sort of like the smoking gun because the question is the same. And the thing is it's like these are bad questions like and bad names. So like who cares who came up with it first? The way that I feel like none of you should be proud to own this question. Both of you should relinquish the question. I watched the clip on the Verity Red Carbett, but asking Anne Hathaway, who's an it girl? Like, it's a bad question. What? It's a bad question. I agree. So, and then they're asking other random people at the Verity premiere. And then so everyone's either saying Ann Hathaway or Dakota Johnson, like, bad question, bad answers. I would actually not raise my hand and be like, I came up with my thing because I would
Starting point is 01:04:55 hide. And it's not a particularly unique or titillating question. So like the idea that two independent parties with both the name it girl could come up with it like isn't the craziest idea no not at all and i believe that they both came up with their name separately i don't think they were copying me especially before she went on summer house and then when your platform is called it girl then that's a natural it's like when we did the morning breath and we said what's described your morning breath in one word but we used to do red carpets it was seriously disgusting and the people were like Is this a real question? Another bad question.
Starting point is 01:05:29 That's us. The bad breath girls on the Golden Globes list. So I don't know. I think this is a stretch. I do think it can be a case of parallel thinking and just I wouldn't really want to like stake my claim on this. Right. No, I agree. But what I did notice is that Bailey has died her hair brown.
Starting point is 01:05:50 Yeah, I barely recognized her. She looks so good. It's crazy. We were just having this conversation because a friend of ours who's been blonde forever finally went brown. There's also something else, though. I just want to. About Bailey? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:06:00 Oh, you mean like work? Something. You see Jesse Solomon as a girlfriend? They went... I saw... I didn't see it, but I saw about it. Let me click it. It's a cutie.
Starting point is 01:06:08 I think she's a new girl on Summerhouse, which is Jesse's favorite thing to do. And it's literally Patient Zero, Lexie Wood. Oh, my gosh. Lexi Wood is Patient Zero. Are you sure she's a new girl on Summer House? Or is she the new girl because... Oh, I don't know if what came first,
Starting point is 01:06:23 the girl or the house, but she's the new girl on Summer House and she's Jesse Solomon's girlfriend. I don't know if she got to be the girlfriend because of the house or she got to be the house because of the girlfriend. And I also want to say, I don't think like Barstool has, they have, you know, things people say about them and like, like... Right, legitimate criticisms.
Starting point is 01:06:38 But they don't have, like, a stealing problem. They're very original thinkers over there. You know, most of their content is original. The Barstool Sports Instagram account, like, is an aggregate, but they license all the content and they, like, get permission. No, but in terms of, like, it's all original content and personality. It's very original. Agreed.
Starting point is 01:06:55 That's not... A claim you can make. So it's just my belief based on like vaguely knowing the players that this was their idea that is very similar to Bayleys. Agreed. And it's like should we not ask the it girl question? Because we've got this like it girl pet. On our shoulder like on our tail.
Starting point is 01:07:11 We've got an it girl on our tail. And it's failing. Seriously. But you know good for her. She is making more waves in like culture. And she is a great cast member. Like I actually really like her. So sure.
Starting point is 01:07:22 Like I'm happy we're talking about her. I want her to have a long career on Summer House. Yes. And it is like platforming her it girl show because honestly I only see the other it girl out of about. I see both. But it's really TikTok. So now I'm like, oh, they're two equal it girls. And now you're like raising, you're elevating yourself to that same level.
Starting point is 01:07:39 And I think that's the message. As an it girl myself, I would say there's room for all of us. Really? There is. Who's your it girl? Great question. Like who's the girl of the moment right now? I think like the streets would say Ella Rubin.
Starting point is 01:07:50 Did you see her at Sterling Point Girl? Did you see her at the Chanel Paris Fashion Week show? I didn't see her because I would have to know her. You don't know Ella Rubin? No. She is the star of... It sounds familiar. You brought her up before.
Starting point is 01:08:03 And she was the daughter. Did you see the idea of you? No. It's so funny because she played the daughter and Hathaway's daughter in the idea of you, the one who's like in love with the Harry Styles figure and then like her mom ends up dating him. And I remember thinking like, oh, this girl's annoying. Like I didn't see one ounce of star quality in her. And I was like, we'll never see her again.
Starting point is 01:08:17 And here she is. It girl, Chanel. She's like the new face of Chanel. Yeah. A J.S. That's beautiful. Our fifth and final story is a little more Bravo news
Starting point is 01:08:26 because the Southern Charm season 12 trailer came out. Oh my God, that show, like... And just when you think they have nothing left to give... They are always turning out good seasons. And it's like they're so random. A secret love child rumor has shocked the cast. So in the trailer, it's like the usual drama, whatever. Who's child, Craig?
Starting point is 01:08:43 You know, Austin and... Sally. And Austin likes the new girl classic. And then they're on like a beach. They're at like a vacation. at dinner together and someone's like, well, everyone's saying that you have a child. And they have a photo of the child showing it around. And I wonder who it is.
Starting point is 01:09:02 Who's do you think? And it's not Craig's. Shepp? I would know. Shepp. Yeah, he does have this sort of vibe of a guy who was a secret love child. Yeah, but like it was a baby. I feel like he would have a 12-year-old.
Starting point is 01:09:15 You know what? Craig is filming traitors right now. Uh-huh. And somebody texted me. me in a group chat with Craig yesterday and he didn't answer. I feel like if he had gotten off, he would have answered, right? Like, I think he's like making it far. I just like, I'm hoping.
Starting point is 01:09:28 Or they're all just sequestered until. You think they leave everyone in the hotel room, even if you get eliminated? Maybe. Oh. Especially because they announced the cast, they shouldn't have done that because now, yeah, everyone's like looking at Whitney's activity. Who's commenting on Instagram? It's true.
Starting point is 01:09:41 Yeah. So I feel like they must have sequestered them. Damn. So the Secret Charm Southern Files. Yes. Oh, it's not Whitney's. because Whitney's the one who brings it up. And also, like, Whitney's not a major player.
Starting point is 01:09:55 He's never going to be the guy with the Secret Love Child because he's like the producer of the show. No, but he would be the guy with the... Oh, by the way, he has multiple love children, but it's never going to be discussed on the show. Yeah, so it could really only be Austin. Oh, this isn't as fun, but it could be that new guy. Yeah, with the...
Starting point is 01:10:12 What's his name? Yeah, and now it's, like, sort of like itching something in my brain where I feel like I've seen that before. It's very low stakes. Like, I don't care about the new guys' love child. I care deeply about like Shep or Austin or Craig having... Wittner is his name. It means nothing to me.
Starting point is 01:10:28 But I hope you're paying child support. I just hope it's one of the big doubts. Yeah, right. It's not going to me because that would not have been kept under wraps. No, not at all. If Shep had a secret child? It's totally Wittner. Well, those are the past five and you really only need to do the third one.
Starting point is 01:10:42 Let's dive into Deer Toasters, our weekly advice segment where like we said, you guys have done so much for us with our data that we want to help you guys out. if you ever are looking for advice from us, you see us, you see, look, those girls have got it together. I would love to know what they think of my personal issue that I'm having at work or at home. Write to us to your toasters at gmail.com or head over to our website, thetoastpodcast.com. There's a submission box.
Starting point is 01:11:01 It says to your toasters. And they're both anonymous, so don't worry. We'll never, like, put your shit on blast. You can write about anything. Like, today we have some hygiene issues, some core sexual issues. We're sort of like sex experts. Like symbols.
Starting point is 01:11:14 Yeah, the way like Jay Shetty is encroached, don't call her daddy for, like, the interview style. We've definitely taken over, like, the sex. Yeah, like the sexy. Like, what's your favorite position? CEO.
Starting point is 01:11:29 Okay, this one's very low stakes. And I feel like we can actually give her like really tangible advice. One of my best girlfriends has really, really, really bad breath. Like, we've been friends for so long and it's just been too long now to be like, girl, your breath stings. But she's in the dating scene. We feel like this is really holding her back because guys are always like, what the fuck.
Starting point is 01:11:44 No one really replies back to her after our date. I know we sound like mean girls, but she really is our friend. and she's really cute and has potential, what do we do? We just can't, like, bring it up in a casual way. Help. Love you, really, queens. I know. And I feel like I've experienced, like, friends with, like, smelly issues. Like, when we were kids, you know, because we're all learning about our bodies. And I just feel, like, at your big age, like, how do you not know your breast smells?
Starting point is 01:12:04 And not know that it is repelling other people. I know when I have bad breath, because I can see the person in front of me, like, wins. And I'm like, oh. Oh, really? Yeah, of course. Like, I'm very aware of my breath. Yeah. I also, like, you need to be self-aware.
Starting point is 01:12:17 I know. So, like, I want to blame the girl, but the person writing it is asking for actual help. Like, just tell her. I feel like, you think, like one of you just tells her. But if you make it like a huge deal. Anonymous note. No, that's so mean. I know. But, like, she has to know, because I feel like she's probably down on herself. No guys are replying back to her or she goes on a date and she doesn't hear back. Like, she's probably being so hard on herself to find out that it's just your breath. Like, you're doing her such a big favor. Probably not just her breath. Well, I'm glad today's sponsor is Smart Mouth because you can. get her a gift basket. Yeah. Also, just like before she goes on a date,
Starting point is 01:12:52 be like... Breath spray. Yeah, breath check. Just make it like a part of the routine. Try that. Do you make your breath before a date. Like by the time it's time to kiss, like your breath stinks again.
Starting point is 01:13:01 Yeah. Well, then just be like, okay, and make sure like you're using breast spray. Try and do it casually. And then if she doesn't get the clue. But also like it could be a medical issue. So like you might want to actually really tell her about it. I sometimes you can taste when you have bad breath.
Starting point is 01:13:15 But I imagine if you have like such a chronic issue, like your mom. always tastes the same and you wouldn't know like what's good and what's bad. I'm just fan of like being direct. You're saving her a lot of time and heartache. And like yeah, maybe she'll be embarrassed that her breath smells. But she probably now is feeling down on herself for so many other worse things. Like no guys interested in her.
Starting point is 01:13:30 That's very debilitating to yourself confidence. Yeah. Like next time she's on a day, just be like, just make sure your breath is in check, you know? Maybe if you say it enough time, she'd be like, maybe I do have bad breath and everyone's just like skirting around the issue. Yeah. But you got to tell her. That's not being a good friend. And I don't think it's mean.
Starting point is 01:13:43 Okay. This is like kind of murky. Oi. He's werelies. More here than the cousin? Real talk, no. Am I a terrible person, or is there a double standard for women here? I recently fall in hard.
Starting point is 01:13:57 I mean that's the truth. Fallen hard into Smut. For those who don't know, smut is, you know, literature, books that are sexual in nature. They are, you know, plot-driven, but really, they have a lot of sex scenes. They're not plot. I usually save it for bedtime, but plot twist, I'm a mom of three, and sometimes those spicy pages just call my name
Starting point is 01:14:13 while the kids are still bouncing around the house. So now I'm spiraling. Is it weird to be reading steamy scenes with little kids, kids nearby. I keep thinking about that one dear toaster's letter where the husband was watching porn while holding the baby, while holding his baby daughter. I know it's not the same situation at all, but the ick factor really just sticks with me. Am I overthinking this into oblivion, or should I just lock the smut away for a true alone time only? Help a girl out. You guys are the best. Sincerely, a toaster. So it's not the same as your husband watching porn and holding
Starting point is 01:14:41 the baby? Not even close. So just so you know, like you can back away from that. Like, but stop. Yes. Yes. There's nothing like, illegal going on here. And I would say your husband watching porn while holding your baby like borders on illegality. I'm not doing anything illegal. And like smut is this sort of weird medium where it's like literature but pornography.
Starting point is 01:15:04 You know and like sometimes what you're reading is just a cute convo between two, you know, best girlfriend. Whatever. Like not all of it is sex all the time, but that's just like weird vibe. Yeah, I agree. Put it away. You can read other things.
Starting point is 01:15:17 And I have found like smut is off. in a gateway to like reading other books. Like what you could start off reading, and the next thing you know, you're reading Demon Copperhead. Like, so I think it gets you into reading. So, like, why don't you try, like, daytime reading and nighttime reading? Like, read, you know, nourish your mind during the day, but your body at night.
Starting point is 01:15:34 Yeah. Yeah. And also, it's always a good time to, like, level up what you're reading. Literally. And so if you want to be reading while your kids play, because that's just, like, a nice balance for you, just read other stuff. Might I recommend Deban Copperhead by Berber King's Oliver because I read it?
Starting point is 01:15:47 And also, you can read, like, I don't know what kind of smut books. you're reading, but there are different degrees. Like there are... Sorry, I didn't read this part, but she did say, like, I've recently fallen into smut, and she said in captions, The Spicerer, the Better, no shame. So she's like a smut head. Okay, because there are, like, you know,
Starting point is 01:15:59 romance books that have, like, two scenes in the whole book. Correct. I wouldn't call that, like, smut. Correct. But then there are other books at... Every page. It's like a long pornography. Yeah. So I'm getting the vibe that you're doing the latter.
Starting point is 01:16:12 In which case, I would also say, just stop. If it was the first kind, like, yeah, probably most of the time what you're reading is just, like, you know, plot stuff. Yeah, it's like, oh, will you be my fake boyfriend? Like, if you have to ask, like, you know it's wrong. It's true. It's true. But it is intoxicating.
Starting point is 01:16:27 That's not, I get it. Third and final. Hey, Jackson Claude. I have a weird mama question for you that you may be able to relate to. My son just started school and there is this kid with famous parents in his class. I'm talking, I quote this person's movies and their shows regularly. Our kids are really viving together and I want to be a friend of parents so we can have a play date outside of school. But I don't want to be a total weirdo as if I'm trying, you know, so hard to hang out.
Starting point is 01:16:48 with them. Do I acknowledge that I know them? Pretend I don't know them. Shut up or just like not try to say anything and never drink a sip of alcohol in front of them ever again. SOS, a starstruck toaster who's also just trying to be like a semi-normal cool mom. So I think that you should definitely approach for a lady because if they're really getting along like it's so normal to do that. That's what you would do it with a regular person? You know, like whatever, just act like they're regular. What would you say to any other person and say that to them? And when you're texting and planning, like you have no idea. You say, oh, who's Jasper's mom? in the family and like right in the, I mean, like, Madison wants a play date or whatever.
Starting point is 01:17:24 The way that you would to any other mom in the class. And then once you get there, still be cool. But I think like pretend, if this person is so famous, pretending that you don't know them, actually makes you look weird. But if like the work comes up or whatever, just be like, yeah, of course. Like, just be cool. Like, you know them. You don't live under a rock, but you're not salivating.
Starting point is 01:17:45 I meet a lot of people, both as like a mom but also just like as a swirly. who are toasters. And to me, it's not weird at all. Unless you make it weird. Like, if you say like, oh, my God, I was cracking up at that clip, you guys posted, thanks. Like, yeah.
Starting point is 01:17:58 Yes, I am a podcaster and I'm on the golden golds. Like, it's not a big deal. Pretending you don't know when I know you do. That's weird. Yeah. No, and then also sometimes people like, you know, address it and they go about it really badly. Yes.
Starting point is 01:18:14 Just be normal. So, like, all outcomes. But yeah, most of the time, especially with us, it's like a little different. because we're so famous, of course. But my whole... I'll be more famous than this person. My thinking is always like,
Starting point is 01:18:24 if I wasn't a toaster, I would listen to the toast. So like, any gal who listens to the toast, like, yeah, we have... It's someone I would be friends with. More so than someone who doesn't listen. Of course, what would I talk to? If you don't listen to the toast, like, we do not have the similar interest at all.
Starting point is 01:18:35 We're not going to be good friends. So for me, it's like, it does, it's not like a red flag or anything because it's like, yeah, of course. It's more about how you behave. Yeah. So it might just be cool. Keep it in your pants.
Starting point is 01:18:45 Don't act like you don't know them. and just act, like, say and do whatever you would do if it was any other parent. But definitely go for the play date because your kids are viving. That's your Golden Globe, almost nominated show. Could be.
Starting point is 01:19:00 Might be. Thank you guys so much for listening. We adore you and we'll see you on the next one. Love you. Bye. Advertising on Spotify puts your brand in the moments where Gen Z fandom takes shape. They're 35% of our audience and spend two hours building rituals
