the famous hole 18 of Pebble Beach? She looked at me and she goes, so what? So we got spyglass today, Mark. We got Pebble tomorrow. I'm at DGDG charity event out here in obviously Northern California. What's the charity event, Coach?

DGDG, it's a car dealership group that does a really incredible job. But how about this, Mark? I've been on a vendor now. I had Oakmont. I had the Kay's Valley in Baltimore and Duce Duce. And I played Trump, D.C. right after our event for NHTSA. So, well, I'm on, I'm on a run, dude.

And then I played Oakmont. I think I said I played Oakmont. I had a Lou Holtz Memorial event in his hometown. So, but I, you know, we can move on. But Mark still owes me a couple of dollars from the game the other day. Well, you know, Coach B. Sandbagging, you know, the handicap? and ain't really, you know, accurate. I keep telling you all this, but nobody wants to listen.

He won't play the scores. You beat me in the Wendy's challenge. Because you're a better player than I am. I'm not, coach. You are a better player. We are the same golfer. Well, you're a better player, but we're going to move on. Yeah, the good news is the golf chatter is going to start to quiet down a little bit

because college football fires up this weekend with week. You're going to keep playing? I'm going to keep playing. I got a little Oakland Hills coming up, me and Mark, Top 25 course in the country, you know. So me and coach, we still at it. All right, carry on. It's a lifestyle, stone.

It's a lifestyle. Yeah, you guys are living quite the life. I get it. All right, coming up on the debut of season three, the triple option. How about our first guest? Maybe the best player in college football. Buck-Ey wide out. Jeremiah Smith rejoins the show.

We are coming your way on Mondays now. Monday evenings here on season three, the triple option. Before we get into what will be happening on the field, shocker, we get to talk about something off the field. That's been basically the whole offseason. it feels like. And this one is wild. We'll start with just the isolated incident and then talk about the big picture.

Former Ole Miss tied in Dayquan Wright signed a free agent contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles parted ways with him. The Cleveland Browns picked him up. While he was with the Browns, he entered the transfer portal. While he's with the Cleveland Browns, not the NFL transfer portal. He entered the transfer portal because, yeah, like dozens of other athletes, he sued to get a fifth year of eligibility back under the NCAA's new five-year age-based model. All of these guys were seniors that had finished, quote-unquote, finished their careers in the spring, were ineligible under the old rules to get that fifth year, but eligible under the new rules. A Louisiana judge, man, these guys just find, they find the right judges, don't they get them judges.

Yeah, it's all about finding the right. I want to see what these judges be in the fall. It wasn't a Vermont judge or a Kansas judge. It was not a Connecticut judge. It was not a Connecticut judge. It was a Louisiana judge. File a temporary restraining order, granting them a fifth year, creating a week-long transfer portal.

I thought we were done with all these bonus portals for these guys to find a new home. So, Dekwon Wright, it looks like he's going to be joining LSU. That's if he clears NFL waivers. Like some of this is just so bizarre. How are you in the NFL system and he's still playing college? It's like, what are we doing? Well, my guess, coach, is that's what they're saying in New York City right now,

where the NFL is like, hold on everything. Why are these dudes coming to us? And then they're bailing and going back to college. And here's the reason. Money. Money, money, money. Well, the first comment is Dayquan Wright didn't do this. An attorney did.

No, this is that, you know, and I don't know him. and I really don't understand the situation. But Mark, I want to remind everybody just a quick history lesson. President Donald Trump back in January contacted DeSantis. DeSantis contacted me. So get a hold of Nick Saban. We all got together. And that was the beginning.

About three weeks later, we're all in D.C. There's about 50 people, the four commissioners, head by Randy Levine, the president of New York Yankees. And they went on this mission. Cody Campbell is very involved, the board of trustee, chairman of the board of trustees, Texas Tech. They worked really hard. I mean, really hard. You can agree with it, disagree with it, but whenever politics get involved,

the bill went from this big to this big. And there's all kinds of stuff in there. And fast forward, the bill has been tabled. They thought that they had enough, the 60 votes in the Senate to push it along. They did not. So it's tabled until September. But we all know the midterm elections are coming,

and the focus goes away from passing bills to getting reelected. So I can't sound the most positive guy about what's going to happen here in September. And the key term, which is something I couldn't even spell six months ago, antitrust exemption. Antitrust exemption will stop the frivolous lawsuits from state statutes and state judges overruling rules

set by the NCAA. So it's a mess. It's a mess. And to say, though, that we really understand what this Dayquan right. And some of these other guys are suing for. It makes no sense to me. I loved Coach Munkin's reaction for the Cleveland Browns.

Like what? And he said something like, what in the shit is going on? And I think, Rob, you said this prior, and I'll turn this over to Mark. I think Roger Goodell in the NFL at some point you say, quit embarrassing. You know, they at least have some kind of power and say, no, you can't. I don't know. Once again, I don't. Where does it stop?

Yeah. I mean, this is went way beyond we could ever imagine, coach. Like, now we have actual NFL players on NFL rosters getting to go back and play in college again. Like, I have nothing against the players. It's not, it's not anything against them because they're just doing what's allowed, you know? You're the coaching you're allowing it, and they're doing what's allowed. So they've been allowed to get this extra year. They're allowed to go back to college.

That's what they're doing. But if you're in an NFL system, like Rob said, once he clears waivers in the NFL, he can go back and play in college. Like, that is insane to me. How are you in an NFL tree and get to be like, you know what? I'm going to just go back to college. It's crazy. But, hey, man, football's here, and we love it.

All right. Enough of off-the-field chatter. We're back, and so is college football on any given Saturday. And what makes college football the best sport on the planet? Well, one of the reasons, of course, rivalries. Recently, there's been some chatter, some back and forth around one of the top rivalries, maybe in all of college athletics, the game, right? Michigan, Ohio State.

So New Michigan head coach Kyle Whittingham, he's new to this, right? And he said, quote, I just think a rivalry can be intense and emotional without the hatred factor. I don't think there's any place for that personally. I think Ryan Day is a good person. to sit here and say, I hate Ryan Day, I'd be making crap up because that's not true. All right. Props to coach on that one. His quarterback, Bryce Underwood, quote, it's just another game, just guys in a different color.

That's how I see it. Don't like that one. Meanwhile, Ryan Day has moved Senior Day from the game to the season opener to avoid those distractions that come with Senior Day at the game. game. All right, Coach. Let's start with your buddy, Kyle Whittingham's comments about not having hate for his rival. Yeah, I think Coach Widenham's the epitome of common sense. Of course, you don't have, you know, did I hate Jim Harbaugh? Did I hate Brady Hoke? Of course not. However, no, as a person? No, not at all. I mean, Brady Hoke and I actually got along great.

I don't know Jim Harbaugh very well, but do I hate them? No, absolutely. I hate them and that's your job to hate them. So I didn't call coach with, but after his visit to Columbus this year and he gets scarred up a little bit and some of things are going to be said and thrown at him and seeing he'll develop a little bit of a hatred. I just, I guess you got to play the game a little bit too. I would tell, and he didn't ask. You got to play the game because there's 75 to 85, maybe 95%. I can't speak for Ann Arbor. If the Ohio State coach ever said that, that'd be problem. People would lose their in Columbus, Ohio, and they would.

And I got news. You're not going to change that. So play the game. And I would also say this, Mark, I would also create situations with my team because love, fear, and hate are the greatest motivators out there. And I would try to use all three of them when I was getting that team ready to go. There's nothing like coaching up, a pissed off team.

I wanted my team so angry coming out of that tunnel that they play. played with a nastiness of violence to them. And when we did, we never lost. The only times we lost is when we did not have that. That's my, and that's a psych major of me. That's the, do I believe that? I believe that in the deepest part of my soul.

Some people say execution is more important than motivation. I disagree with you. I think the team that plays the hardest and meanest and nastiest who win the game, I don't give a shit, what you do on offense or defense. But that's my opinion. Coach, would you use hate to fuel that anger? Absolutely. How so?

Oh, my gosh. Just the history and showing, you understand, when you come to Ohio State and, you know, Jeremiah Smith is the great example. He's going to be on with us in a minute. But last year, remember he used the term? Hatred. Hatred. He didn't grow up hating the Wolverines.

He's from Florida. He was indoctrinated. He was taught that. How you taught that? This robbery has been around a long time now. There's a lot of former great players that have played in this. So when you use word hatred, it's that amazing blue team across from you. It's not the person.

It's not the university. It's not, that's common sense, Coach, with, I know that. Right. But when you're a player and you're getting ready to put your hand in the ground in front of 110,000 people, you better have a dislike and distaste for that person across from it. If you don't, and once again, you can mark you're a great player. You can say that's not necessarily true. Okay.

My teams, I wanted them always pissed off. at the team they were playing and certainly that team that were is that that maize and blue color. So this is what it is. You ain't got to worry about me disagreeing because I hate a few teams. I hate a few teams. Auburn. Auburn number one. I hate Auburn,

and I hate Georgia. And I don't think any grommission ever wear orange, like, or purple. Like, LSU purple. Now, Ravens purple is like a king's purple. No, royalty purple. That's different. not the Barney purple to LSU. Watch out for that TCU purple is pretty good too, my friend.

Be careful. So I want to go back to this for a second because I want the, so I'm a 19 year old man. I'm playing for Ohio State. I want that person. I don't know the physics of it, but I certainly know the mental piece of it. I'm going against a person that I've been trained,

indoctrinated to dislike. I'm going to go much harder than, hey, that's a good dude. like Bryce Underwood. Now, Coach Witt, I get it. Bryce Underwood, that's incorrect. That's not another team on another. It's not.

So I don't know what he was getting at saying they're just another team. I'm going to help them. No, it's not. It's not another team. Yeah. Yeah. But like you said, coach, I agree wholeheartedly what you said. Like I don't dislike the individual over there.

I don't dislike their coach over there, but I do dislike what you represent when I play you. You know what I mean? You represent Auburn, which I hate. You represent Tennessee, third Saturday in October. We do not like you at all, quite frankly, and we want to smoke a cigar on you after the game because that's what we do. So, yeah, man, there is hate. And hate develops those robberies that we all love. You know what I mean?

And like, yes, we can respect the fans. We can respect the players in that helmet. But that logo that you represent, that War Eagle that you say, that that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, volunteer that you represent. I don't like it at all. And anyone that represents that that day has to get dealt with accordingly. You feel me. I feel like for the last decade and change, Ohio State,

let's just talk about the game, has taken this rivalry coach way more seriously than Michigan. And when Michigan was able finally to turn that script a little bit, it's when they elevated the importance kind of all season long or all preseason long to put more emphasis on that game. So with that of mine, I love the fact that Ryan Day moved Senior Day to the opening game of the season. Because you know what it's like with those Senior Day distractions and the emotions that can sneak in, that can kind of pivot you away from where you want your team to be. Like, as you said, you want them pissed off, you want them angry, you want hatred in them.

It's kind of hard to do when Senior Day is going on, and moms and dads are out here and you're embracing and you're hugging and you're shaking and hands and you're you're having all these great flashback memories before arguably the most important game of the season. How can we have all this love and then have hate? Right. Really quickly. So the question is next year when they close out at Maryland at home, do they bring it?

I didn't ask Coach Dave. I think that's fine. So you keep moving it? You keep moving to your day? Wait, they close out with somebody other than Michigan? No, no. They're in Ann Arbor. Their home schedule.

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. I'm fine with bouncing back and forth. to me that just that just extensuates the value and the importance of the game and it doesn't get in anybody's way and it sets a tone and it sets a note months ahead of time this game is different yeah this game matters thanks i also think you kind of have to develop it like because when i came from michigan i went to alabama i knew that they hated arbor but like i didn't really hate arbor until my second year because we whipped their tail my first year it was like a blowout my second year we

went down there. I had a hip pointer. They almost beat us. We go down and score on a final drive to win, and then we went and go play Coach Meyer in the S.C. Championship. But that day right there made me learn to hate Auburn. How they treated us, how we went in there, how they almost destroyed when we had worked for the whole year. I had learned my hate that second year at all. I want to add something for you because me and you've talked about this, Mark, Coach Savin, staff and your leaders on your team did a great job for 12 months. After we beat you in 08, they taught you to hate Florida. When Georgia ran on the field and did that nonsense, they're dancing around, for 365, we played that.

Why? I wanted them to hate those suckers as worse than life itself. And get back. I mean, I'll tell you what now. I mean, once again, I'll argue anybody on this. You get you pissed off team. I agree. A pissed off team, you're going to win that game.

Yep. Mark, does the hatred for Auburn or Tennessee soften as you mature or does it grow? Oh, does it stay the same? It's gotten worse. Worse, how? How? The hatred? Have you not understand, like, the games that we've had lost to these noodles?

Noodles? Yeah. You're calling them noodles? Yeah, these freaking noodles. We've had kick six. And they suck, bro. And when they beat them, us, they just act like it's their

Super Bowl, because you suck. Wait, what's a noodle? I've never heard noodle as a put down. Just a lame just a bunch of lame, floppy noodles. No, it's gotten worse. It steadily gets worse as time goes on because something happens and I meet somebody and I'm like, you know what? That's why I hate

Harvard because of you. Oh, that's funny. Hey, coach, real quick, when you were at Notre Dame under Coach Holtz, master motivator, did did he invoke hatred at all? And were there a couple, I guess, favorite targets of his? USC was the big rival, but it was an intersectional, you know, they're across the country. It wasn't a conference robbery.

And so I was actually all disappointed in the robbery. I think it meant more for the media or for the alumni or player. I tried to as a, you know, I'm just position coach. But I studied that rivalry because I love rivalries. And it wasn't the same. So, you know, yeah, the Wolverines were actually a rival. Notre Dame was just kind of. So it was much different.

The only one that's been close to me, there's been two. And it's Georgia, Florida and Brigham Young against Utah. That nasty, nasty hatred. And I always told people, I think the Mormons get a four-hour. The Mormons out there get a four-hour and get out of jail-free car because they say things

are not supposed to say. And I witnessed it. That's why I don't know why Coach Witt said that because I'm like, you just came from the whole. Holy warwick. And he's a nut. Crazy. And never, coach went to BYU and coaches at Utah. So he's seen his eyes change color for that game.

So he'll be ready. Wolverine fans, he'll be ready. Yeah, don't worry, Michigan. Your team's going to be up for that game, November 28th, 122nd chapter of the game coming away from Columbus live on Fox. And to be able to move forward like that, I mean, the grace of God is on that family. And what an event for Nizza. The big takeaway I had from that one of many was, you know,

driving impaired drunk driving it's 100% preventable right just don't do it if you had a drink hand the keys off hide the keys you know take a safe sober drive home it was really impactful particularly with Labor Day coming up in just a couple days as well everybody out there being football season the tailgating like you said stone it's just 100% preventable the numbers are astounding how many people were losing to drunk driving and you know and it's all preventable. It's all avoidable. We have rideshare apps. Make sure you have a plan. All these things, right? Because we all need to hold each other accountable because all these things can be stopped. And shout out to, like you said, Coach, Ebony and Raymond Jackson.

We was taking a great stand and making a difference for Kyrie and his memory. Man, what a beautiful family, huh? Yeah, we were behind NHTSA and we're taking a pledge to drive us over, baby. We all took that pledge. One trend heading into this college football season, guys, that we've noticed. play. So real quick, we're going to give you some numbers as we talked a little X's and O's here. Last season, teams averaged 2.24 points per drive. That was the most over the last how many years, about 10 years. However, scoring is down almost 8%. Why? Well, teams are averaging 7% more time between plays and 11% fewer drives per game. So basically, coach, people are going

instead of uptempo, they're slowing things down over the course of the full game. Yeah, there's not a better example than Ohio State. I mean, when we were there, we tried to get as many plays as possible. When I was at Florida, not as much because I still believed in the huddle and the players look at each other and you have a leader like Tebow, but we went full and won a national title with Tempo. So I get it. And the beautiful thing about this wonderful sport, it's completely cyclical.

what happens. And it just keeps going around and around. I made a joke on the, I think, Big Noon, that Wishbone football is going to be coming back. And then someone said, yeah, no face mask, too, or something like that. Leather helmets. Leather helmets. I think after talking to Coach Day and analytics has a big piece and all the sport now, college football is really taking this analytics piece. You're playing a much bigger, much longer season. And the games are real, real serious. They're all serious, but when you start hitting week 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, you got to really save, you know, it's, it's science that the players that aren't getting hammered. And I think you see practices are much different too, because it's not just games

that beat up players. So I think the first reason was length of season. The second one is it's very easy now to steal signals, and I'm not talking about the illegal way of doing it, but teams have gotten really good at looking across and trying to get signals. So you don't have that advantage anymore and you want to have a perfect play. I'm not all on board with it. I like pace. If I have Jeremiah Smith and those receivers, I want them to touch ball as many times as I can. Because I know we're better that normally those kids are better than the kids you're playing.

99.9 of the time. So when I had Zeke Elliott, I wanted to have as many carries as possible. And the only way to do that is run as many plays as you. Yeah, the tempo is kind of like a long-term goal, right? It's looking into deep November and December and January and taking plays off, meaning not playing them rather than not taking a play off, just saving bodies, right? The common sense wear and tear.

But Mark, I feel like, I know we're saying tempo is slowing down, but I think turning up the tempo in those little pockets, those little moments of the game are the things that are going to be the main differential between wins and losses going to. forward. Yeah, I mean, you tell me your theory, and I'll tell you your pace of play. You know what I mean? Like when I was playing in Alabama, we were more of a slower-paced team. We would huddle up. We would snap the ball when it was low on the shot clock. And we probably didn't play as many plays as Coach Meyer did. We ran the ball. We controlled the clock. Our defense was strong.

So you tell me your method and your, you know, your method of play. And I don't. I'll tell you how many plays are going to run, you know, your pace of play. So, but I did, we did have, you know, up-tempo offense. Like, you know, obviously in two minutes, you got to be up on the ball. And then, you know, we did have NASCAR too where we would go, we would look to the sideline, get a signal, have three plays, and we would run them. So I just think it just depends on the team, right? It depends on the coaching philosophy.

And like I said, when we were in Alabama, we didn't run a lot of plays. I think we huddled up a lot of the time, snapped the ball alone on a shot clock. And, but, you know, I think it's good to have a good little cadence, a good little bit of both. If you've got to go up tempo, catch the defense off guard, you're having an extent success. Use that tempo. So I think it's just, you know, it really just depends on the coach's philosophy. And I think you're going to see a lot of different ways. Some teams are going to be up tempo.

Some teams are going to take their time in the huddle. So it just depends on the coach's style. Coach, do you think an analytics guy would have been able to break through you at Florida or Ohio State telling you to slow things down? I think anytime I was a bit, I'm a, still am a huge sports performance person. So if they started showing me that science that, of course, I mean, at the end of the day, you're going to be, you know, you're, you and your career as a head coach is going to be a venture on what you, especially now, what you do at the end of the season. And if you're telling me that they have this much percent chance of being a full full speed, of course. So I'm not, I'm not criticizing. I like tempo.

I like plays. I like Jeremiah having 11 catches. you know, still having enough to hand those great backs to ball, et cetera. But I get it now. I'm not being critical at all because I understand that. You can see the shirt I'm wearing. I'm a big Bulls fan now. Okay. I went to see your boy, Coach Hartline. And I got to see the staff. I got to see the staff. But I'm going to ask you two questions. The first one, because I think I know a lot about you

because of my connection to Ohio State, but Heartline and I actually just talk about you. Tell me, you know, first of all, he's a first time head coach at a place that's got high expectations. First, you're quick about your relationship, then what do you expect from Coach Hart down at South Florida? Yeah, me and Coach Hart,

he's been recruiting me since I was a freshman in high school all the way up to, you know, last year. He left when got the job at USAF. I mean, Coach Harlan always kept things real with me throughout recruiting, and especially when I got here, every state the same. when I got here to Ohio State.

Knows all love for him, and I'm expecting him to do big things down at USF. Yeah, second question. I remember meeting at one of those events. I think you're with Caleb, and your reputation is you, obviously, you're one of the best ever do it. How in the world you say so humble and selfless, and your work ethic hasn't changed from your first day on campus to where you're at now in your career. I mean, tell us, you know, it's got to be. family or it's got to be something that has kept you to be Jeremiah Smith.

I think it's just how I was raised. Started with my dad. Started with the people that was around me. I was in my circle. They always taught me to be humble and don't brag about the things that I have, the things that I got going on for myself. And that's where the humbleness comes from, really, from my dad, really. Hey, man.

Going into your third year, bro, you know, you had two big years, freshman and sophomore, national champ. You're on the verge of several records, all-time receiving, all-time catches, all-time touchdowns. Man, we know how great of a football player you are, how hard you work, how humble you are, but what is something that you have been working on individually to take your game to the next level in your third year? Individually, I'd say, no, yards are the catch for myself and really for this receiver

room as well. I mean, you could say for Ohio State, we were the worst in the country. I mean, that's not the standing here to Ohio State. So I feel like that's something you're going to see different from not only just me, but, you know, guys in our receiver room, for sure. And how do you guys emphasize that in the offseason or in practice? Yeah, just no drills. No, I new receiver coach, Hank,

been bringing to our receiver room. Things we've been doing with him. And you can see the big translation. I mean, if you was here to be able to see the things that we've been able to do from January to now, like you can see a whole different receiver group for sure. Jeremiah, let's stay in that receiver room. Listen, your name takes a lot of the oxygen out of the room. We get it.

We understand it, and you know that. Who are some of the names in that receiver room that people aren't talking about enough yet? Aren't talking about... We got a lot of guys. I feel like we got so much depth. You can't go wrong with nobody. You got to go with the Cal thing.

You've got to say Brandon Ennis. Another one that's going to be big for us this year is David McEwen to transfer. Cal Park is well from LSU. Then, all our young guys, all our young guys could play. can't go around with any of them guys. Chris Henry, Brock Boyd, Jacoitte and Gifford, Jad and Ricketts. I mean, all of them guys could go out and play.

So, yeah. What do you call Brock Boyd? White Lightning. You call it White Lightning. Does he deserve it? Yeah, for sure, for sure. How so? He's just fast.

He knows everything that he's doing. A very smart football player and make a lot of big plays for us to see this evening. When you first looked at him, were you like, who is this guy? Or does he cut the figure? No, actually, you know he was from high school. I mean, everybody was telling me he got all these type of yards and all these type of touchdowns in high school. So he was pretty good coming in.

I'll tell you what to have a name, White Lightning. Is he fast? Jeremiah Smith, or fast or just fast? He's fast. I want to say he was fast for me, but he can run for sure. White Lightning, you got to have some, you got to have some go. You ain't getting blessed with that name if you ain't got no juice, you know what I mean? Definitely, definitely.

All right, you know, Jeremiah, I won't have any type of conversation. with you without burning up that team up north a little bit. And you were so good the other, you know, I think it was last year we had you on. And you used the H word, which I used all the time as well, the hatred word. And recently there's been some conversation where people are trying to downplay it. And of course, I damn, they're getting fist fights every time I hear that. There's no downplaying anything. So where did you, did Hartline teach you that?

Because you're from South Florida. You're used to the Florida, Florida, Miami, Florida, or Miami, Florida State rivalries. Where in the world did you get indoctrinated with the rivalry and the hatred of the team up north? Yeah, you can say Coach Harlan, Coach Harlan, Coach Mick Marotti, them two guys are there. That's who I get it from.

I mean, it really says high school, really, when I first came up here and I realized how big the rivalry was. I don't think no rivalry is bigger than the game. It's completely different, for sure. Where you play your park ball at down here in Florida, bro? Miami Gardens, Miami Garden of Ravens. Ooh, you was a Raven? Yeah.

Hey, man. Yeah, I'm down here. I'm with the boy in Beach Bulldogs, man. I got my little boy ate you. And ain't nothing quite like, you know, the South Florida youth circuit, man. It'd be jumping, right? For sure, definitely. What's some of your best memories of playing park ball down here in South Florida, man?

Best memories. I got a lot. I'd say from the age of 11 to 13, we didn't lose a game. You won every Super Bowl, every state championship, every national championship. We was rated number one country for three years in a row and nobody beat us. Yeah, Miami Garland's Ravens, they still holding it down to this day. They still have some dogs. Definitely.

Hey, that schedule is no joke this year for you guys. On the Road, Texas, Iowa, USC, Indiana, home, Oregon. that team up north. How have you guys discussed the schedule that looms for you guys this year? Yeah, yeah, we discussed it a lot. We know we've had to win the game in the fourth quarter. No, that's the biggest emphasis for us. This whole all season is winning the game in the fourth quarter.

Southern Coach, they, you know, came up with, and that's something that's our team model right now. So, you know, just trying to fire any way, anything to make us win the game in the fourth quarter. So, yeah. Is that a new team motto? Something like that, yeah. Yeah. We're playing a lot of top 10 this year, so we've got to win the game in the full quarter.

Any of those road trips that you're particularly looking forward to, Texas, Iowa, USC, IU? Yeah, definitely, you know, the week two one against Texas. Iowa is a tough place to play at, for sure, definitely. USC go all the way out west for that one. So, I mean, we got a lot of, it's a lot of good ones, for sure. But really, definitely for me. What's the offense looking like right now with Arthur Smith now in control? Yeah, I mean, I feel like we were a way better offense

than we were last year, which might sound a little crazy. But I feel like we got a lot of things down pat this year, got a veteran-o-lawman, got a very good quarterback, got a lot of good transfer at the procedure position, got very good running backs. So, yeah. I talked to Coach Day yesterday or a couple of days ago, and we were talking.

And the one thing that's, you know, I just remember when I was coaching, I would want to get as many plays as possible, especially when you have so much talent on a team. That changed in college football. Now everything seems to be huddle, slowing down. Does that impact you guys as a group and deep in your, and we're all human,

you want the damn ball? Do you see when you're only running 60 plays as opposed to 85 or 90 plays? Does that come up at all? Or is it all just try to win the damn game and move on? A little bit. I mean, Coach Dey, he talks about it here and there. But like you said, we're trying to win a football game.

We got to maximize every pill that we get. And, you know, last year, we wasn't as good on, you know, third down and red zone. So that's something we've been, no, appreciating this all season as well. We've got to be good in the red zone. Got to score touchdown in the red zone. Convert on third down. That's what keeps on the field, you know, to score touchdown.

So, yeah. You talk about. Go ahead, go ahead. Go ahead. You talk about fit. All right. So you got some new fits. You got the all-black look coming back this year.

Which uniform combo entices you as you look forward to this upcoming season? The all-black. That's my favorite one. Like no-brainer? No-brainer, for sure. Is that a team vote, or is that just a known commodity in Columbus? Got to be a known commodity in Columbus. Everybody might ask for those the last three years.

Do you know the story of the All-Black? I don't know. So in 2015, the year after we won the title, I was with Gene Smith, R-A-D, and Nike came back in. And back then we didn't do a lot of that. And the alumni, you know this, the tradition in Ohio States unlike any other. And the alumni get pissed when you guys wear some of that stuff. And I remember I looked at Gene.

I'm like, and I said, Gene, I love that all black. And he's like, you know the alumni is going to kill us. And I said, I came out in the paper. I said, well, I love tradition. But one thing I love more than tradition, recruiting. And the boys love, I mean, the players love that out black. Did you wear it last year? Or no.

It was my first year wearing it. Oh, that all black cold. That's all black. I might have had to touch Ohio State if they showed me that. You said it's cold? Yeah, it's cold. It's cold. It's hard.

It's all that at the same time. Just nod, coach. Just nod like you know what he's talking about. It looks good, man. It looks good. Speaking of tradition, by the way, week one is senior week at Columbus, so not to be distracted with the final home game of the season against the Wolverines.

What were your thoughts when you heard that news? Yeah, we're trying to eliminate all distractions going until that week, last week of the season. I mean, I feel like it was a good idea for sure. Hey, is there anything that could possibly get you back for a fourth season in Columbus? Probably. I hear you know.

Stop. How about Angelou? I hear you got a little bro. You feel me? Committed. You feel me? Stop. Two bros.

Yeah. It's just a question, coach. It's a question. He probably going to clear, you know, double, you know, ten figures up there, you know? It's just a question. We really had to see that things look. Is Angelo pushing for that for you to stick around when he joins next season?

No, we haven't already talked about it. He wants Big Brother to go get that paid. Yeah, exactly. He wants Big Brother to go get that paid. Big Brother can have a conversation with Little Brother about that one. You can come play with me in the league, little bro. Yeah. But now that I'm able to do them things, it's truly a blessing for sure. And there's, you know, the whole state of Ohio behind me and, you know, represent this university at a high level, a lot for me. Hey man, last time we talked, man, you said that you was, you couldn't go to Walmart,

you couldn't go get this, you couldn't go get that. Have you found the duck off shit, the little back private rooms where you can go have a good dinner, we can go hang a little bit. Have you found the, I know you got the ends? Like, are you able to enjoy your life in Columbus, man? Yeah, I mean, I can a little bit, like you said, I got no private rooms and stuff like that anytime I know the family come here, we go all the eating, a little back room and stuff like I said

I still don't go into like Walmart Target stuff that's still all everything delivered to my apartment so yeah smart man are you ready you ready for this season oh yeah I'm definitely ready how long have you been how long have you been ready for this season since we lost in Miami

Well, he takes it, I think, listen, I think those calls are going to be heavily manipulated by the staff, if you know what I mean. But listen, if it was me, I'm going trick plays every single game. Like, for first and 10, Statue of Liberty, right? We're going to go Statue of Liberty. We're doing flea flickers. We're doing all kinds of crazy stuff. We're having linemen fall down.

They go get you up out of their. so quick, so they're going to pull you up out of there by your car. No, but wait until I get them a touchdown on that opening drive of the season and you're like, bring Stone back as the OC. Okay. Bring them back. Okay. Yeah, I ain't going to happen.

That ain't could happen. Listen, if you're the OC, do not give me runs up the middle, all right? That's all I'm saying. Just give me something else. Do not run it up the gut.
