Well, now it's $130,462 and one.
To one.
When you're winning after regulation, there's one team that has lost while winning after regulation.
Somebody has to go to jail for this, coach.
Oh, no, no one's going to jail.
No one's going to jail.
We're going to jail now.
Light it.
The triple option is presented by Wendy's, the fan favorite pretzel bacon pug cheeseburger is back.

Welcome to another edition of the Triple Option,
presented by Wendy's Rob Stone,
Urban Meyer, Mark Ingram the second with you.
In just a second,
we'll talk Michigan's escape
and their quarterback quandary
heading into this big week two showdown.
Oklahoma in Ann Arbor, boys, we'll be there.
We're packing our bags, big new kickoff, we'll be there.
Escape and a quandary.
You like this? Big point, boy, worse.
Escape and a quandary.
So, Mark, when Sabin coached you,
because I'd smile every time.
You could, were you that way every day of practice?
Man, you know, he was turned up, man.
You know, we had good energy.
Because I had a couple.
Table was like that.
He just loved it, man.
Man, you make me laugh every time you come on.
It was Saban, did you make Saban laugh a lot?
I don't think I made him laugh.
Did you try or?
Did you try it?
I mean, I just left him alone.
Like, he was over there with the defense.
I just left him alone.
Like, you know, just leave him alone, let him be and try not to hear from him.
You know what I mean?
But we always had good energy coach.
We love what we do.
Zeke was, Zeke L.A. was like that.
He, uh, I mean, he'd do some funny.
But you know what it is, Coach?
You gotta love the people you're around.
Because you won't get this energy if I don't have the people around me that make me feel this way.
Long distance hug.
Long distance.
I love, I love, I love Stoner.
I love coach.
I love everybody on the triple option.
We got Turlop in the back.
You know what I mean?
I love my people, man.
All right.
If there's any doubt, all right, all right.
If there's any doubt how much we love each other, just go back to watch me try to do my halftime teaser and Mark
breathing, literally breathing down my neck.
My wife was watching that mark.
She's like, what is he doing?
He is the best.
He's so funny.
I'm like, I'm trying to do my job.
You did something.
You did something this week?
We all did.
Everybody with you, Coach.
I appreciate you leaving me alone.
You know what I was?
I was over watching the Six.
I wanted to watch what was happening.
All I know is, hey, Coach, we always talk about Stone.
Stone doesn't get enough credit and he's the best in the world of doing his job.
This man is the best in the world of doing his job.
He has Brady doing something.
doing something. I'm spanking them with the damn paper,
beating out his neck, and this man...
He's just rolling. Just rolling. Doesn't miss a beat.
Rob Stone is the greatest in the game,
and I don't care what nobody got to say about it.
If you got a problem with that, come see me. I'm right here.
I appreciate it.
I'm right here in the crib. Come see me. I'm about that. Big trust.
Coach, he spanked me twice. He spanked me twice in a 15-second promo.
Still to come on, the triple options,
as we mentioned, we're going to talk about all the things going on in Ann Arbor right now.
Who has what to prove in that?
huge Ohio State, Texas tilt.
Lane Kiffin, is he the biggest instigator in the history of college football?
Yes.
We're going to draft our Heisman winners ahead of week two.
As always, we encourage you to rate, subscribe, send us your questions, hit that like button.
We're on social media at 3X option show.
New episodes coming your way on YouTube, wherever it is, you get a podcast again.
We come your way on Mondays now.
And I know, happy, happy Labor Day.
Happy Labor Day.
We're working. We're working here on Labor Day because week one is in the books, and boy, there is plenty to talk about.
Kyle Whittingham, congratulations, coach. You got your first win at Michigan.
It did not come without controversy as they took care of Western Michigan on any given Saturday.
You know this is where we're going to start.
The Wolverines were a 27-point favorite. It took 60 minutes and one second.
for them to get a 13 to 12 win.
They had that hail, Mary, from 47 yards out.
This stuff was wild.
So the clock showed zeros.
By the way, we're all watching this.
Mark, you and I were on separate airplanes.
Yes.
Urban, you were in the car.
Oh, you were in there already at that hour.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, you were.
All right, so you were in downtown Chicago.
So we're all watching this game in different places
and different timing, by the way,
because there's delays in the planes and whatnot.
And we see underwater.
who had a challenging game.
We'll get into that in a second.
Hail Mary throws it out of the end zone.
Like, and I'm, listen, I'm not a quarterback, but I'm like, you can't do that.
Like, you've got to at least give your dudes a chance.
Zero's, Western Michigan.
Congratulations.
Hell of a win.
Hold on.
Stone.
Hold on.
It said final.
It said final.
I saw nothing but zeros.
And then they go back.
And listen, this is probably me being scarred.
from all my international soccer and the whole World Cup, like, oh, they're going to VAR.
Like, they saw something that we didn't see with the naked eye, that we, the television audience
or the broadcasters did not catch in real time.
And Mark, while this is going on, all three of us are like Western Michigan, great win,
what this is going to do to Oklahoma, Michigan.
But then when they start talking, my brain, Mark, starts going, uh-oh, something's up.
Stone.
I'm on the plane watching the game.
I'm like, game's over.
It says final.
It says final.
I flip the channel.
And then everybody starts texting my phone like, oh, we're so back.
Michigan wins.
I'm like, wait, wait, wait, wait, what?
I like the phone.
It just said final.
So I go back and Michigan somehow has more points to watch Michigan.
Somehow, they've acquired some point.
Because in the history of college football, when you win a game after regulation, you know,
I think I saw it's 130,462 to zero.
Yeah, it's never happened before.
In the history of college football, when you win at the end of regulation.
When you don't have the lead after regulation.
And now what is it goes?
All right.
So it's pretty strong.
If you're betting, man, bet the team that wins at the end of regulation, and you probably win.
So there's a couple thoughts here.
Number one, the president, AD, and head coach, I don't know,
Western Michigan got a lot of respect for them.
But they accepted it.
The MAC Conference Commissioner accepted that the Big Ten Conference set out something within
two hours, which kind of made sense.
They were actually letting you listen to what goes on in the review booth.
The number 18 for Western Michigan, his foot was out of bounds.
That means he's a dead player.
If the ball touches him, the clock stops.
And the clock they were using was off by a couple hundreds of a second,
according to Fox's official, Mike Pereira.
And that was the best explanation I've heard, Mike,
and he was of Joel Clatt.
And I'll actually listen to it a couple times,
that, okay, that makes sense.
But he said they're wrong.
Mike said Western Michigan should have won the game.
And there's a couple of thoughts here now.
And Mark, coach's job is to recruit, put a culture together,
develop a game plan, and then get the hell out of the way.
Yes.
and let players go win the game.
Mark, you won that if I'm talking to you as if you're my player.
I'm going to go, you know, that coach is going to go coach,
and sure he's heartbroken, but who gives a shit about a coach?
Mark, you won that game.
Yes.
You're a football player that smashed your face in for 60 minutes
against a legendary program.
And won the game.
I get so angry when I look at a guy like Mark,
when you look at these players, they're heartbroken.
They're talking about AD's president.
Who gives a shit about the president?
about the president of Western Michigan.
He didn't play that game.
Same with the, and I'm being respectful.
I mean, sure, they got to make a statement.
I want to hear from the dudes that did it.
The AD, the coach, and the player did not do that.
I mean, the AD, the president, and the coach did not win that game.
You know who did?
The players.
I want to hear from them.
Yep.
Your heart was just taken from you and you won the game.
You can see them.
They were out there crying.
They were devastated, man.
When you go out there 60 minutes in a hostile territory like Ann Arbor,
you're Western Michigan, you're getting paid to play that game.
And you go out there 60 minutes, physically dominate this team and beat this team and win the game,
where it says the final, where it says the game is over.
They put a second on the clock, and we know what happened.
But Western Michigan deserved to win that game.
They outplayed Michigan.
And, you know, refs once again do what they do.
So instead of rehashing it over and over again, now the key is, I try to.
to put myself in that locker, I never had something like, I don't know if I've ever witnessed that.
I mean, I've seen bad calls, but this one, this took a win.
Yeah.
The game was over.
If it was a bad call, once again, let the higher ups figure that out.
Okay, you got to go play next week.
Yep.
What hell do you say to your players other than you love them and you're like, God, I mean, you got to move on.
Yeah, you're telling that we have a great team, a special team, and we know that because we
just went into Ann Arbor and beat this team.
And you know what I mean?
Coach, easier to move on from a blowout loss at Ann Arbor to a Michigan team that was a heavy favorite
or to come back from something like this where the win was taken from you.
Well, the reality is Western Michigan's got a good team. They pushed around. I watched,
they were the better team on the field in Ann Arbor.
And certainly in the second half they were. I didn't watch the first drive. I missed the first drive
where Bryce took them right down the field. The second half, particularly the fourth quarter.
Scripted opening drive, things went well.
The fourth quarter mark, the Broncos from the Mid-American Conference were the better football team on that field.
All right.
So let's put a pin in it right now and start a new conversation right there.
We understand they got the call right.
Michigan should have won the way the rules play out.
Okay.
So let's move on from there.
And let's go back to our text chain.
Let's go back to all of us watching this game.
This is all of our big noon guys.
And we're watching Bryce Underwood because this young man is under a lot of pressure and a lot of money.
and a lot of expectations bring that.
And he did not succeed to the level most people thought he would his freshman year.
And there was a lot of talk in the offseason about his development.
And Coach Kyle Whittingham, when he took over, coach said, this young man needs some more coaching.
Right?
They gave him a QB coach.
They invested coaching time in him that he didn't really have his freshman year.
But our text chain and our eyeballs are saying at some point, I think a couple of guys were saying,
he gets one more series and he's out.
Okay. This is not, I'm not trying to pile on Bryce Underwood, but if you're a Michigan fan, even if you're that Michigan team, you're saying this offense is not working right now. Mark, had Michigan lost that game?
I don't believe Bryce Underwood would be QB1 this Saturday versus Oklahoma. What about you?
I don't, I don't believe so either. I mean, the biggest thing that shows out to me was how little sustained offense Michigan created versus Western Michigan.
They only had 12 first downs. They only had 30% on third down, committed.
three turnovers and possessed the ball for less than 20 minutes.
Western Michigan had ran 67 plays to Michigan 48.
It held the ball for 40 minutes.
If you do that versus Oklahoma, you will not have one chance to win.
So if they had lost that game, this is a complete different conversation, and C.J.
Carr's brother is starting next week in Ann Arbor.
Coach, you agree with that?
I do.
Okay.
So obviously, I have more intel than much.
because I'm very close with the Wolverine head coach.
And he expressed, first of all, he loves Bryce Underwood.
You know, there's not, a lot of times you coach Mark a player that's just resisted to
coaching that's just a pain in the ass.
That is not what's going on there.
His issue is spatial awareness going through progressions and then executing, which is a normal
progression for a young quarterback.
The problem is he was thrust into a starting environment last year with
chaos going all around him, which takes your breath away, someone said he didn't have a
quarterback coach.
Yeah.
I don't, once again, there's some never heard of's, never heard of that, especially when
you pay a guy $7 million.
So he's got, and I've said this on Big Noon, God said, I'm going to go make me a quarterback,
and they look like Bryce Underwood, but there's something missing.
Everything you're saying is dictated by something who's behind him.
It's Tommy Carr. Coach Witt really loves his kids, says he's got an incredible future,
but he's also underdeveloped as far as just physically.
So we're making decisions without knowing what's your job as a head coach win the next game.
Whoever gives you the best opportunity, play that human being.
And I think Kyle will do that.
How did Michigan not have a serviceable quarterback?
Listen, that's been a problem for them for a while.
you know, J.J. McCarthy kind of put the pause button on it for a little while, but remember, there's a big rotation of quarterbacks like, oh, he's the next guy. Oh, he's the next one. And it hasn't worked out for a while. So again, I want to go back to this locker room right now. It is Monday. It is Labor Day. You have a badass Oklahoma team coming into town right now, and you should be 0 and 1. But you got saved and you are now 1 and 0. And it is clear to everyone that the offense is not where it should be right now under Underwood. So coach,
Like we just said, had they taken that loss, we all feel Underwood, that would have been an easy out to say, Bryce, we got to try something else.
But now he got the win, and he got the win with his arm.
How does a coach, how does a staff, how does a team manage this next week?
Because I would feel, coach, that that leash got a whole lot shorter.
Everything we're saying is true, but I would also say that I'm going to spend most of my time if I'm Kyle with the offense line.
that did not look well to me.
They look just as offensively not a good offense.
I didn't see the breakaway speed on the edges.
I didn't see the typical Wolverine running back
that's ripping through tackles.
And of course you see a quarterback that's mistake-filled
and not executing at a high level.
So there's, I don't know.
If you lose the game, you're right.
You probably push that button down
and implode the whole thing to start over.
and that means a new quarterback, maybe new other position players,
but you just don't know what's around them.
I would, again, say this.
They have to compete with Oklahoma.
The Kyle 1-1-A-N-Am's job is very clear.
1-A, 1-B, 1-C-1-D,
put people on the field that you think can win the game.
Not to make a point, not to prove a point.
If he thinks Bryce Underwood is the best option,
you've got to go with them.
Are you giving QB2 and QB3 more reps this week,
leading into Oklahoma.
Again, I know Coach Wooder well enough,
and I know they're excellent coaches, sure.
Of course they are.
I just don't know what's there.
Yeah.
I know Tommy Carr is a guy that they feel
can be a quarterback and lead them to a championship at some point.
I just don't know that points right now.
And Mark, you're a player, you know, former player in the locker room.
You know what's going on.
Like, you see and feel things aren't working at the level they should be.
Are you saying, hey, man, let's get somebody else in here
for a little bit more, or, you know, give them a little more taste during the week?
The guys are definitely talking, Stone.
They have to be, right?
If I'm a defensive team and I'm holding this offense up and I'm doing my job and I'm
getting off the field and I'm causing turnovers and my offense is stagnant, there's going to
be tension like, yo, we need to do something.
Something needs to change.
And offensively, if I'm doing my job, I'm running hard, I'm blocking hard, but unfortunately
we can't move the football, there's going to be talk, there's going to be rumblings.
but like coach said, the players know
if Bryce is their best chance to win,
then that's what you have to go with.
But if there is a second quarterback
that people believe in in that locker room,
there is going to be pressure to play him.
So like we said, we're not in the locker room.
We're not in the coach's meetings.
But if there is a second player,
if there is a second quarterback that can give them a chance to win,
the players are talking about it,
and you will lose the locker room
if you don't put that player in
if he can give us a chance to win.
Agreed.
And again, that game on Fox,
big noon kickoff will be in Ann Arbor.
There's going to be a lot of Underwood talk, right?
I'll tell you, thank God.
I actually thought about that when they scored.
I was like, thank God.
There would have four people at our show.
It's,
unless we have Charles Woodson's thing.
We do have CWood.
We have CWood, yeah.
We do have CWRWRN.
We got Porton on.
For those who are listening and watching this,
I might get COVID.
I just want to slide the.
curtain out a little bit. Like, welcome to our world. Like, we do cheer for results that help our
broadcast, right? Like, an 0-1-Michigan versus Oklahoma is down here. Both of them won and
O, and now it's a different game. Well, now it's 1-30,462.
Yeah. And 1.
When you're winning after regulation, there's one team that has lost while winning after
regulation. Somebody has to go to jail for this shit, coach.
No, no one's going to jail.
No one's going to jail.
We're going to Ann Arbor, and Coach's eyes, that's probably the same thing.
Can't wait to get to Ann Arbor, looking forward to Michigan and Oklahoma this Saturday.
Time now to Sound Off.
Sound off is presented by Las Vegas.
There's no better place for college football.
Visit Las Vegas.com for more.
All right, one team expected to be in contentioned for a trip to Vegas this year for that national championship game.
It's now LSU.
Their odds just jumped up big time.
The Lane Kiff and Arrow started off.
in proper fashion, a beatdown, a thrashing of that once proud Clemson program,
51 to 10 in Baton Rouge.
And even with all the stuff that have been circling around Lane
and the leading up to this one, are these NFL guys going to come back and play?
And he's got a comfortable win despite a huge weather delay.
Even at halftime, with everything going his way, he couldn't help himself.
One will make it, Justin's.
We've got to play better in the second half.
We can't give away something like the first turnover, man.
This ball, whatever, 38 nothing.
Thank you, God.
Yep.
Good map.
Everything to say, not say, imagine if we had pro players.
Imagine if we had pro players.
He said it took everything in me to say.
He said it took everything in me not to say, what if we had pro players?
But he still said it.
He still said it.
He still got it in.
Well, he's like, this is a really good line.
I got to use it.
So there's three things I saw that I just, did you see the walk in or whatever when the team walked in?
Someone showed me that where he had influencers all over the place.
He's dressed the way he was, you know, I don't know, it looked like an attorney or something.
I mean, or one of those ambulance chaser dudes.
And then you got influencers everywhere.
And then he says that.
And then he says, our scout team gave us more issues.
then Clemson.
And then the final thing I saw this morning
as someone sent me was during
the game, they're out there kicking an extra point.
He takes a ball
and he shoots a free. I don't know if they have like one of those
turnover. They have a basketball who?
He's shooting.
They show him the play's going on
and he's shooting a, I don't know if he made it
or not, but he's shooting his shot.
Shooting it. Hey, that's Lane Kiffin, by the way.
Lane Kiffin, by the way. Let's shoot.
LSU and Lane Kiffin
are a match made in heaven.
When this hire happened, I was sick about it because I know LSU was a sleeping giant and they will be a problem.
They have a roster that can compete for a national title.
You give them money, you give them resources.
LSU is a place of culture, swagger.
Like, they have all of this stuff, right, and a great fandom.
And then you have Lane, who doesn't give a damn.
And you put them two together, and this thing is a monster that is getting created right now, right?
And so we just saw it in week one.
Now whether they can continue that success, we'll see.
but they have a roster that can compete for a national title.
They have a coach who doesn't give a damn, who is LSU through and through,
and I think this is a match made in heaven.
And I've been saying it.
LSU is going to be a problem with Lane, the resources,
and the belief that all LSU has right now, they are a problem.
Mark, is Lane Kiffin the biggest instigator in the history of college football?
Yes.
This man, he don't give a damn, right?
And whether the headlines, whether the distractions that we all think is headlines and distractions,
clearly it doesn't mean nothing to them because they went out there versus Clemson and basically buried them.
They buried them alive.
Buried them.
And Clemson is on life support right now.
And Lane Kiffin is talking about the scout team is giving them better looks.
So our offensive scout team put up more points than Clemson's offense did.
This is what Lane does.
Think about that.
He actually said that in a press.
conference.
Said that, coach.
Said that.
This is what Lane does.
LSU don't give a damn.
They're going back him.
As long as they keep winning,
they're going back him through and through.
Listen, Mark, they backed him all week, right?
Because it was the AD because he has to be affiliated and Lane that were going against
the SEC, going against everybody else who said NFL players aren't allowed in college football.
And Lane's like, I don't know, we got this judge from down in some parish who said,
it's okay.
And we're going to roll with it.
Right?
Now he's getting a shit about nobody.
He's getting sued by his conference.
It's insane.
But I don't say this.
I'm here for it.
Like, late is as entertaining as hell.
It's great for Cal's football.
It is fantastic.
Listen, you know what?
Here we go.
We're going back to pro wrestling.
Either they're cheering for you or they're booing you.
You can't, it can't be in between.
And there are a ton of people who are cheering for Lane.
There's a whole lot of people.
The only other guy in my lifetime.
The only other guy in my lifetime that was kind of instigator, much different was Steve Spurrier and to a degree where he kind of, you know, you can't spell Tennessee without citrus or you can't.
Yeah, you can't.
You know, I wanted to score half a hundred on the dogs at home and that's why I threw a touchdown pass at the end.
But that's just mild bannered now compared to.
It has real, legit controversy everywhere he goes.
But the thing is, the belief that Louisiana people.
have right now. All LSU Tigers, they're walking around like this.
You know, I'll play in the world.
I'll play in New Orleans. All my LSU people are walking around like this.
All bowed up. They're all walking around, mounted up and bowed over, talking about LSU
this, LSU that. And they got a different swagger and approach right now that Laine is running
the program. So. All right. So, Mark, I'm going to throw this one at you. Coach, you can chime in
if you want, because this is about the coaching fraternity. You said LSU buried Clemson.
Have they buried Dabo Sweeney as well?
that type of results with all the pressure that has accumulated the last couple years on a guy
who at one point not that long ago was running college football.
He was running it.
Clemson was the place to be.
And I tell you what, right now, I bet if I'm a wealthy alum, if I'm somebody who cares passionately
and is high up the food chain around Clemson, they're going in that one little drawer
and they're looking at a list of names like, I don't think this is working anymore.
It's time to go find us somebody else.
And I hate that.
That makes me sick.
Yeah, it's a quick history lesson, too.
And Clemson's got to be careful.
You know, the grass is always greener before Dabo.
Clemson's always been okay.
But I'd never, be honest, I never really worried about him in recruiting.
They did beat us on C.J. Spiller.
But then once Dabo got there and I actually went there as part of ESPN one time,
was like, holy shit, this place is phenomenal.
Gorgeous.
It's beautiful.
It's an SEC looking venue.
I mean, that's what it was.
and they took advantage of it.
He built that thing up,
and then he started going through staff transition.
He was very vocal and said,
we're not going to pay players
and we're not going to do Transfer Portal.
Here we are a handful of years later
where, I mean, they're staring down,
you know, I imagine there's staff issues
whenever you lose like that
because there's going to be everybody questioning.
This would be the coaching job of his lifetime
in the next month.
Yep.
Well, like you said, Coach,
this is something that has been brewing.
He built a program
who had the premier players in college football,
premier players in the NFL, national titles,
dominated the ACC.
Then you come to a point where college football changes, right?
And he didn't change with the game.
You know, NIL, he kind of refused to go to the transfer pool,
refused to play players.
And that kind of started Clemson going down a little bit.
And now you come to this point where you kind of have your back against the wall
in the opening game, get punting.
And now the only thing you have to really rely on is can you go and compete for an ACC title?
You have Miami.
We saw how Louisville looks.
So you have to go through your ACC schedule and be successful if you even want to have a chance.
If they start laying eggs in the next three to four weeks, he might be out of there halfway through the season.
So that hurts.
I mean, I love, I like Dabo Sweeney.
He's a Bama guy, for one.
I like Clemson.
When Clemson is good, it's better for college football.
But quite frankly, that's the truth of the matter.
Self-inflicted.
They still may build a statue for him someday.
He was legendary at Clemson.
For sure he was.
But, you know, what they say, what Spider-Man say or Batman say you play the hero,
you've seen long enough to be the villain or something.
Yeah, yeah.
Or Janet Jackson, what have you done for me lately?
Yeah, facts.
I'm looking at his run.
I'm looking at his run at Clemson, and there's a lot of zero, two-and-one-lost teams.
And that's when they were at their height.
And then you're looking at the last five years, three, three, four, four, four, six.
And who knows?
What's college football changed, coach?
They were four and four in the ACC last four.
Coach, unexcusable.
Top of, one of the top teams of college football until football changed.
You got to be able to change with football.
The game changed and he didn't.
The game changed or die.
Yes.
Adapt or die.
Yeah.

Welcome back to the triple option presented by Wendy's coach.
We've talked about it in past couple of years.
You have had some elite playmakers, right?
Your love for Percy Harvin, well-known, Michael Thomas, so many other studs out there.
This past weekend, though, boy, we saw two whiteouts go off.
Malachi, Tony, set program records, Jeremiah Smith, eight grabs, 151, two touchdowns.
In the first half.
Right.
Coach is going to get to that.
How do you approach kind of game planning your playmakers?
It depends on the game.
So if it's a talent-equated game, which is about to happen in Austin, Texas,
you certainly have your go-to, but you don't kill yourself trying to get him the ball.
You let the game happen, and you try to get them the ball.
But, you know, Texas, if you remember, they kind of took them away where they had, you know, two-on-one.
They would double them and he didn't have a lot of catches, but it opens up other guys.
However, the ball state or the game where it's not talent equated and you know that you're not going to play him in the second half, this is beautiful.
I would, there was time.
It was either J.T. Barrett or Haskins, I can't remember.
Me was Braxton Miller, but he was a Heisman candidate, and we were playing a team.
They were much better than.
I told our coaches you throw the ball every snap for the next 20 snaps.
I didn't look at the scoreboard.
I didn't care about anything other than getting this guy, his reps, getting his numbers, because you, people say that's, you know,
you're running up to score? No, that's not. You're taking care of your dudes. And Jeremiah Smith is
one of the greatest players to ever wear a scarling gray uniform. And I know the way Ryan Day thinks.
Same way I thought. So here's what happened. And I've not talked to Coach Day. Mark, two-minute
drill at the end of the game or at the end of the first half, they threw the ball five times
to Jeremiah Smith, even when they shouldn't have thrown to them. For example, it was like covered two
and they sat in a hole. And if it was a Texas, you're not going to.
going to be able to complete that throw. Feed him. And it was, and then the last touchdown pass,
he threw the ball where you throw it anywhere else, except for where he threw it, the touchdown
pass to Jeremiah Smith. So I could just tell Julian saying that was one of those meetings on the
sideline, I imagine with Coach Day said, okay, here, we're going to go out one more time. You throw the
ball every, that's fun. Feed him. Julian see him. Feed him. I don't care of the score. I don't care
whatever. Don't care of the coverage. You throw the ball to Jeremiah Smith five times in row. You
got it. And Julian Stain probably had a big smile on his face, and it was hilarious to watch it.
And they did score. And of course, he didn't play in the second half. So you have an obligation
number one in the game, but you also have an obligation to take care of your stud players.
The once-in-generational players take care of those two. And I respect that from a coach so much
because you see how he works every single day in practice. You see how he works in the off-season.
You see what type of person he is. And yes, it does matter the team is most important. But what also is
important is taking care of your players and giving him the chance to do something special.
And so by doing that and feeding him, you gain respect from your players.
You gave respect from your boy, too.
You know what else you see, Mark?
Other generational players are watching that as well.
Yeah, and they go.
And I would use that in recruiting.
I'd say, by the way, here's what I do.
Why do you think they have three other receivers right behind Jeremiah Smith?
Because they turn coming too.
I think Ohio State handled it perfectly.
I don't know to Malachi.
I didn't watch Malachi, but my gosh, is he a player, Mark?
I love that kid last year.
You know he is, coach?
Dog.
Baby Jesus.
What is he?
Baby Jesus.
Dog.
Baby Jesus.
So both of those guys certainly did not hurt their Hysman chances in week one.
And I know we're just going into week two.
We're going to talk Hysman.
We're going to do another snake draft guys.
Oh, we love the snake.
So we're going to do a snake draft on who we think is going to win the Hysman.
All right.
So we're kind of betting the futures out there, all right?
So we're going to start with Mark.
You get, we're going to do the snake draft. Mark.
Tell them why.
Because you're the best.
You have the best smile in the business.
Is that why?
That's why I let you go first on everything.
Okay, thank you.
No, it's because everybody liked my team.
Your picks from last week.
They like my squad.
Yeah, they liked it early.
They're going to come see the light eventually here on Team Stone.
But for now, they love Mark.
So coach, you get second pick.
I get third pick and four.
So we're going to do the snake draft of who we think is going to win the Heism.
I know we've only kind of played one week of ball, but here's who we think.
So the snake, I'm going to get one and then, what, eight?
One and then one and then six.
Lord.
All right.
So, Mark, you better make that one worthwhile.
And a lot of dudes put up some big numbers this week.
And you know who I'm going to go with?
I'm going with Darian Mensa.
Give me to you, Miami quarterback.
401 yards, five TDs, only three incompletions.
And Miami's going to give him a stage to have plenty of big opportunities.
big game opportunity. So I'm going with Darian Mensa right now as to start as to my favorite to win the
Hizman. A lot of folks on those sites out there put them up there at number one with the Hysman odds right now
after that performance. Well, guess what? I must know ball. I need to see more. You got them up there
too at number one. I need to see more. But boy, he performed pretty darn well in week one. All right. So
Daria Mensa off the board. Mark, sit tight. We got a couple more picks before we back up to you, Urban.
Yeah, the year of the quarterback, so of course, I'm going to go with Jeremiah Smith.
I think he's the best player in the game, and I can see what the commitment Ohio State has to feed it,
feed that beast. He had eight catchers in the first half. This week's a different animal.
You know, obviously, they got to win the game and play against the coverages,
but Ohio State's commitment to feed the beast, and obviously he is a beast.
Well, I appreciate you guys leaving two absolute elite quarterbacks
that are going to be one and two in the Heisman fight for me.
Very kind of you.
Arch Manning, welcome to Team Stone with the third overall pick.
CJ Carr, we love to have you as well.
I got belief in both of those cats.
You took them both?
You bet I took them.
Hell yeah, I took them.
Arch Manning, C.J. Carr, welcome to Team Stone.
By the way, those were one and two on my overall list.
no disrespect to the other dudes,
but I'm thrilled with my team.
Urban, you're back up.
I'm going to go with Dante Moore.
I know he started off a little slow against Boise.
I just love this kid as a player and as a person,
and I think Oregon's going to get better and better.
Remember, they had a new coordinator.
Did that start were you at all, coach?
It was Nip and tuck with Boise.
A good challenging game for them, by the way.
But, if you're number two in the land.
Boise States is solid, and they turn it up.
They flipped the switch in the second half.
He still won three touchdowns, almost 400 yards passing.
So four QBs off the board already, one wide receiver.
All right, Mark, you got back-to-back picks right now.
I'm going, go ahead and give me Julian saying,
the guy who you say is going to throw to Jeremiah Smith.
So if Jeremiah Smith going to be there, guess who really going to be there?
Because he's throwing it to him.
Julianne is saying, then you know I'm going with baby Jesus.
You know I got to go baby Jesus because we love Jesus.
So for those who are not educated in baby Jesus talk, that is Malachi Tony.
He is gone.
And Julian Sayan is gone as well.
All right.
So, Coach, you're back up.
Right now, Coach, you just have Jeremiah Smith and Dante Moore on your team.
I'll tell you, the guy that blew my freaking mind was Trinidad Chamblis.
Did you watch some ball plays?
Okay.
And he's got some dudes he's throwing to too, too.
They do.
He does.
Because, you know, the respect I ever, that braw them in Louisville,
but Ole Miss, man, they got some freaking speed on that team.
So I'm going to go, Chambers.
The best odds to win a Heisman are if you're a quarterback, right?
So I'm leaning all in into that.
So Sam Levitt, welcome.
Welcome to the team, because LSU is going to be a problem.
And that problem is the head of that problem is the quarterback, Sam Levitt.
All right?
So I'm taking him round.
Round 10. Let me tell you something. I am buying stock in Camaro Taylor down at Mississippi State. I got a clip for you guys. Did you see this kid? Did you see the gun, the hose on Camaro Taylor? Play this clip on this and watch his footwork and watch the arm strength. Camera can't even find the ball. That's how much he gunned it.
You know you're not going to get a Hasman winner with six losses.
Agreed.
Hey, hold on.
Can we rack that one more time?
The dude has no platform to throw it off,
and the camera can't even find the ball.
Hey.
So you picked a Heisman for that?
That's a great play.
Hold on.
You guys can come after me in a second.
Our boy, Todd McShay, we have so much respect for him.
He raves, raves about this sophomore.
I'm a big fan of the kid.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Listen, I understand.
Mississippi State's going to lose six games.
I get it. I get it. I did it. Listen, I did it because I love this kid.
And I love what he's done. He did it with his arm, four touchdowns, 334, also able to run it, guys.
Ran it for a touchdown, 59 yards. You know what he did after one of those touchdowns?
He hit a certain pose because he said, quote, that's my goal for this year.
Yeah. Hit the Heisman pose in week one.
Camario Taylor, World, start watching Mississippi State.
So I'm taking him just because he's fun to watch
and he's my total wild card.
Coach?
I'm going to go to the jacked up, swelled up quarterback.
Oh, yeah.
Mattier.
The Tebow-looking cat.
I'm going to go down on,
I can't wait to be on the field and walk by this.
I hear he is just a swelled up,
no neck-looking quarterback.
No neck-looking quarterback.
He's you playing quarterback, I heard.
I do.
I like the physicalness.
I like the way they use them.
I don't know if he's going to want a high.
been 11 to 17, 225, probably not.
This is where we take flyers in this late in the round.
Yeah, you got to take, do you know you got to take the Darfur?
A no-neck quarterback.
You want a no-net QB, huh?
All right.
Mark, last pick.
You got Darian Mensa on your team.
You got Julian Sayan and where else you got?
Baby Jesus.
Baby Jesus.
Because we love Jesus.
You guys have any idea where I'm going.
You guys should know better.
Somebody from Alabama, yes, I know where you're going.
You have any idea?
I'm going Keel and Russell.
That bad is special.
He is a dog.
He came out of his first game, was in and out the huddle, making big plays, throwing the ball, running the ball, leadership.
When Alabama makes this run, and they win in football games, and they climbing up the rankings, it's going to be because of Keel and Russell.
So when you talk about a dark horse that has a chance to move up the ranking,
rapidly and quickly and efficiently, look no further than your boy.
Keel and Russell with the roll damn tied, and we don't give a piss about none but the tide.
Ten quarterbacks, two wide receivers taken in our snake draft.
Throw us your votes. Throw us your comments. Tell us what you think about our selection.
Yes, coach. I know you start getting, you know, your tension starts lasting, but listen, Keelan Russell.
Keel and Russell.
Oh, man.
Oh, man.
Coming up next, we're going to preview Texas, Ohio State.
We're going to preview Michigan hosting Oklahoma and Alabama.
Mark's Tide starting to SEC play.
That's coming up next on the Triple Option presented by Wendy's.

College football season, it's finally here.
and there's nothing quite like a college football Saturday.
But you two guys know better than most
what it means when an entire season builds towards that championship stage.
You know, I remember, Mark, our first national championship run,
and that was in 06.
Really, we didn't think we'd be there.
This is back in the BCS era
where there was only two teams that would make it,
and ironically, we got to play Ohio State.
There's nothing like it, man, being able to,
obviously win a national championship with the squad,
I'd win the Heisman trophy.
There's nothing quite like chasing those goals with your boys, man.
The blood, sweating tears you put in.
And I'm glad that these young guys are going to be able to experience it soon.
And especially it's going to be in Vegas.
And we know how Vegas gets, man.
It's going to be turned up.
It's going to be electric atmosphere.
So, man, national championships, Heismans and Vegas, sign me up, dog.
I'm all for it.
Yes, sir.
And this year, the road to Vegas is real.
For the first time, as you mentioned, Las Vegas is hosting a college football.

Welcome back to the triple option presented by Wendy's.
Let's talk week two of this college football slate,
and there is no bigger week two game than the showdown between Ohio State and Texas rematch from a year ago.
Remember, that was the season opener in Columbus.
The Buckeyes beat then number one Texas to jump up to number one where they were for a majority of the season.
So two absolute blue bloods going at it, Coach, your initial impressions of this one.
Yeah, I think this is going to be.
coin toss, Mark, who, you know, it's a tough environment.
The one, there used to be Texas had the reputation where it really wasn't a tough
environment.
You know, they called it the whining cheese crowd.
I remember hearing that over the years.
I played there when I was at Notre Dame, but that's 100 years ago.
We were there, however, a couple of times with Big Noon, and it is a tough-ass environment.
That's a great spot.
I think those kind of games, even though Ohio State as a veteran quarterback, come in,
and I still think those are worth five to seven points,
those kind of environments,
if it's a real one,
which I think it is.
You know,
I've not seen Texas in this kind of environment.
So it's going to be the battle of the quarterbacks,
which quarterback,
and I'm not saying they have to win it,
but they can't lose it.
You know, last year I thought both coaches
did a very admirable job,
especially Ryan Day,
with Julian saying first time start against that kind of team.
They did not ask him to win it.
They played the game close to the vest,
and I would start the game like that down there.
say, let's just, let's pound the ball a little bit, let's be smart, and then when it's time to
open it up, open it up. That might be different than what Ryan Day's thinking. I'm going to pick
the Buckeyes, but I think it's going to be a rock-off win for whoever wins.
Mark, before we get to your thoughts, I just want to throw out some numbers here real quick,
and these are numbers from last week, right? We talked about how important the two quarterbacks
are. We'll start with Ohio State. They used three quarterbacks last week.
Say in only four incompletions, three-20, three touchdowns. Fourteen different players had a
reception. So we talked about Jeremiah Smith, you know, in his Heisman odds, eight grabs, 151, two
touchdowns. Devin McKeown was a problem, right? He had six for 97 and a touchdown.
671 total yards of offense. Why are you talking about this, Rob? That was a scrimmage. Don't eat,
that has nothing to do. That's fine. That's fine. All right. So here's why. Nine penalties.
Shouldn't have nine penalties. Should you Ohio State? It's a scrimmage. Okay. All right. Five for five in
the red zone, 32 first downs only had one sacks. We're going to have the drug test.
job again.
Why is he talking about that bar?
Defense is a concern for Ryan Day.
Coach, you mentioned that, right?
Defense what?
Defense was a bit of a concern.
Last week?
Ryan Day.
Not last week.
Big picture.
Oh, yeah.
Big picture.
You said that, but yeah.
Yeah.
The only concern I did here is that the offense line, I didn't go back and watch my
watch them this week is the offense line struggle a little bit early in the game.
So the offensive line for Texas struggled too.
Sark said the run game, we got to look at it and find ways to make it cleaner.
So the offensive line, one report saying kind of got pushed around by the undersized offense of Texas State.
So see how both offensive lines work this week.
Mark, what are your thoughts?
Well, I mean, you guys just gave the rundown.
I ain't got to do no work.
I did my research for you, brother.
I ain't got to do no work.
Thank you.
Thank you.
I appreciate y'all.
But, no, man, I think this is going to – obviously we saw this game last week.
I mean, last year we were there.
And I think it's going to be a much different game than that defensive struggle that we
watched. Obviously, Julian Sand with going to Jeremiah Smith,
Coach mentioned offensive line struggles. I think they're going to have their hands full
with Colin Simmons on the defensive side for Texas. And also, I think Arch Manning, right?
He's not as inexperienced. That was his first start last year when he went to Ohio State.
Obviously, he's had a year under his belt, and they added some elite transfer portal talent.
They have Hollywood Smothers to run him back. They have Cam Coleman. So they have electric
playmakers to go and help support.
Arch Manning, and then the defense.
I think led by Colin Simmons and some of the guys that they're returning,
I think that this defense is going to be strong,
especially with the atmosphere, that crowd, noise that comes with playing at home
in the Texas crowd.
So I think it's going to be very evenly matched.
But in this one, with the home crowd, I'm going to give that an advantage,
and that thinks I'm going to give that advantage to Texas in this one.
So I think it's going to be a great game.
I got something to add real fast, Mark.
You brought it up.
I talked to Cooper Manning somewhere.
I can't remember where.
And we're talking about Arch.
And last year after the Ohio State game,
I went back and studied it real closely.
And you can blame Archmane.
You want people weren't open.
I was shocked at the lack of explosives that they got better throughout the year.
But Cooper made a point to me that they have enhanced
and their skill is better this year and more developed because they have good players.
Last year they just didn't play great.
They hit all some trash.
And you can blame the quarterback all you want.
If dudes ain't open, that's not the quarterback.
And Sark did a great job of going and hitting on some high-end
Treshal Portal talent.
And obviously it was just Week 1 versus Texas State.
But it looked like they were a difference makers.
Hollywood Smothers, Camp Coleman, a few others.
Biles on defense.
So it looks like this Texas team loaded up on the transfer portal.
And I think they're going to be a problem, especially at home.
So I'm taking Texas in this one.
But by the way, while we're talking the SEC,
how about Week 1 for the SEC?
Are we backstone?
So, yes, you're 16-0.
Listen, hold on, I know.
Hit the pause button.
Look at who they played.
I got it.
I understand.
The SEC outscored their opposition this week by 602 points.
Talk to me, Stone.
600 and two points.
You want more talk to me, I'll give you.
Listen to it, coach.
I know you're getting tired.
Listen to me, coach.
13 of the 16 SEC teams put up at least 40 points.
Talk to me, Stone.
12 programs hit at least 45 points.
Listen to him, coach.
I'm turning them off because it doesn't matter, Rob.
Talk to me, Stone.
Three hit 60 points.
The SEC came into this season with their chest out after having been humbled for three straight seasons by the Big Ten.
Watch out for the SEC this year.
Because they beat the piss out of lesser teams.
They beat the piss out of Clemson.
They don't like it.
They beat the piss out of Clemson.
Oleville.
They beat the piss out of Clemson.
Old Miss got by Louisville.
Two good wins.
point about the Arkansas Pine Bluffs and the U-Teps and the East Carolinas and the
Firmans and the Kent States out there.
Listen, the Big Ten did that as well.
They had those schedules.
We're going to learn a lot more about the SEC in week two, but guess what?
Mark, the SEC is going to come out of week two.
Don't hate.
Give me that flex.
Give me that flex.
Flex it for them.
Don't hate.
Because the SEC, yeah, that's how the SEC's going to come out.
I'm with you.
I'm with you.
I think Texas takes care of Ohio State in week two.
All right.
Another SEC Big Ten showdown in Ann Arbor, Michigan,
one and no Michigan by a second hosting Oklahoma.
How about this?
Of these two programs, do you see any of them having national title capabilities, Mark?
Of Oklahoma and Michigan?
Yeah, I think it's only one right now.
Michigan? No.
No.
Oklahoma, to be seen.
We know they're going to have a championship caliber defense.
We saw Mateer last year before the thumb injury.
He was up for the Heisman trophy.
He was one of the Heisman trophy favorites last year before.
Dude could barely hold the football for the last month and change in the season.
So Oklahoma, getting back to that defense, we know how they play tough defense.
If John Mateer could get back to his form like he did look in week one, they will be a problem with contender to go to the playoffs.
And possibly, I think a playoff team.
National title, not so much.
But I do think they have the chance to be a playoff team.
But.
Agreed.
We'll see.
We shall see.
Okay.
Coach, how do you see this one?
I see this.
If it's a low-scoring game,
the Wolverines can stay in this thing.
Their defense is going to play well,
led by Jay Hill.
They were putting so many bad positions
in that second half on defense.
The Wolverine defense hung in there.
I'm really concerned about their offense,
not just their quarterback.
I just didn't see, you know,
when you think of Wolverine football,
you think of just,
like I said,
tailback's just ripping through tackles.
I did not see that.
You know, one or two guys
that could run on the outside
and a quarterback that's really struggling.
Anemic.
But I'm going to say this about Oklahoma
is that Brett Vanderbils,
who I have a lot of respect for,
I know him not well,
but when your first job is Oklahoma,
that's a tough gig,
and he struggled.
I mean, like, really struggled.
And then you can see,
remember we went down
and watched the playoff game last year?
You can see the growth of him and his staff,
you know, and I saw a clip.
Someone sent me a clip of him.
They're winning by 50.
points or whatever they went in.
And he's still coaching his ass off on the sideline last year, Oklahoma.
So I just kind of, I liked always, I coached against him.
And he's one of the best defense coordinators in the modern era.
But I just, I think he's grown into being the head coach at Oklahoma.
And I don't know if they can win at all, but I think they're going to be an issue in the SEC.
They're going to have some big wins this year.
Coach, real quick, I just want to take you back to Ann Arbor.
How do you think Coach Witt is running today's practice, Monday, Labor,
day after what happened Saturday night?
I think he's on those coaches hard.
I really, you know, I think this is, you know, the head coach's job is not to dive into
players and all that, but it's to coach those coaches hard because there's things on that
videotape on that, you know, I've watched already some of it because I'm getting ready for
this game and it's, it did not look good.
And I'm not watched the defense yet.
I've just watched the offense and it all starts up front.
And Kyle Woody and, you know, my God, the guy's brilliant.
He knows where it starts.
You can have all the conversations about quarterback you want,
but if you're not controlling the line of scrimmage
at the university of whatever that school is called,
you've got a problem.
The University of Wolverines.
Wolverines.
Alabama, on the road at Kentucky.
Let's get an early SEC game.
Will Stein, the new head coach for Kentucky.
One is debut, member former OC at Oregon.
Always curious about Kentucky coach.
You coached against them.
Basketball school, right?
We get it, everything that they've done.
But that town, that community, that support,
it always felt like they could get a little higher in college football.
They've been so, they were really close under Coach Stoops.
And now it's Will Stein's job.
What do you think about the Kentucky program overall
and what it can possibly reach?
Yeah, people forget.
Rich Brooks had that place cooking.
We went one time we played there, top five, top six in the country.
Went to a game day was there.
And we, you know, we played well that day.
but they've had some good teams.
I think Mark Stoops, in the pre-N-I-L era,
in the pre-N-I-L era, probably maximized them.
I'm saying post-N-I-L era, all the ceilions are broken.
There are no more.
Don't talk about, well, this school can't do this.
Indiana won a national title.
Texas Tech is being talked as a contender.
You know, don't, the NIL era has changed all that.
Kentucky, can Kentucky make a swing at it?
Absolutely, they can.
it depends on what the price tags behind it.
So I think that's really important, Mark.
There is no, all the ceilings in college football are gone.
With a price tag on it.
Well, a lot of that price tag money goes to the basketball program as well.
Yeah, I feel like it's kind of a sleeping giant.
Like, they could be, boy, they could be something.
Talk about a great spot, man.
Yeah, it's gorgeous.
Gorgeous area.
Alabama, though.
Yeah, big price tag.
Alabama's willing to pay those numbers.
They got a QB now in Russell.
What do you forecast from Bama this week going on the road in an SEC game with that young QB with at least one game under his belt?
I'm very optimistic about Alabama right now.
I think the defense?
With like your normal Alabama sunglasses on?
No, no.
I'm taking them off for you here.
I'm going to tell you about the team.
Listen, the defense is strong.
One of the best secondaries in the country.
So I like that.
Offensively, three running backs, right?
Four, we have receivers.
We have a quarterback who is electric, who can throw the ball, who can run the ball,
who has leadership capabilities, who gets in and out of the huddle.
My concern, offensive line.
Can we win in the trenches?
Can we play with a physicality on the offensive line to run the football?
Can we protect Keel and Russell when he throws the football?
That is my one concern about this Alabama.
team. I set it on Big Noon and I'm going to say it again. We're going to go as far as our
offensive line takes us. I think we have pieces on the team to be a great football team. We
have the quarterback. We have the playmakers. We have the skill players. But the trenches are my
only concern here with the Crimson Tide. We're going to go as far as our offensive line could take us.
Last week we saw Keel and Russell have a great game, but he was running for his life against
ECU. So if he's running for his life against ECU, what is he going to do in the SEC schedule?
That's my only concern here. I think it's going to be a good season for Bama, but
Offensive line has continued to grow.
You like Bama this week?
I do like Bama this week.
Of course I do.
Yeah, I do too.
I do too.
I think Alabama's going to win it.
And that was Bring the Beef.
Your team's beef is never frozen and neither is ours.
Wendy's Bring the Beef.
Well, that does it, guys.
Another triple option in the boat.
Did we cover enough topics this week?
Did I take my Bama glasses off?
Was that a great analysis or not?
It was really pretty good.
It was really pretty good.
