Starting point is 00:00:01 Twizzlers keep the fun going. Yeah, I know. I just stopped whatever you were listening to to tell you that Twizzlers keep the fun going. Well, irony isn't my forte, but twisty, chewy, yummy Twizzlers sure is. So think of Twizzlers as a little palate cleanser for whatever's queued up, which, by the way, should be coming very soon. Like any second now. Okay, Twizzlers, time to keep the fun going.
Starting point is 00:00:29 Just out right now. We've struck Iran again. We'll have to talk all about this. because for some reason, these guys over there in Iran, they don't really learn. A bunch of bad guys, as the president articulated so well today. But today's a really important day. Good to have you here. I'm Trish Rican.
Starting point is 00:00:45 This is a Trish Rican show. And I've got to tell you, today may go down as one of the most consequential NATO summits in years, not because there was a treaty sign, not because of any kind of military action, but rather because we have just totally realigned the world. How do you like that? Yeah. there's a fundamental question that kind of hung out there after every meeting. What exactly does America expect from its allies for nearly 80 years?
Starting point is 00:01:11 We've been the backbone of the whole NATO alliance since it was founded in 49, and we've been spending more on defense than, well, every other ally, often more than all of them combined, believe it or not. Well, today, the president set the record straight here. He said, no can do. We're not going to account for nearly two-thirds of your total defense spending. and represent less than half the alliance's combined economic out, but that is not going to work. That imbalance has frustrated a lot of presidents.
Starting point is 00:01:40 You can go to Dwight Eisenhower, you know, who's warning Europe in the 50s, don't become overly complacent, don't become dependent on the U.S. Richard Nixon said the same thing. Barack Obama even said the same thing. He would famously refer to them as the free riders. But guess what? And they are, or they were. Because no president has ever done what Donald Trump has managed to do. today. Today's NATO summit wasn't simply another diplomatic gathering. It was another chapter
Starting point is 00:02:09 in a negotiation that has been underway for it wasn't, I should say, another chapter. This was a 180. I mean, this president did something that none of them could ever do. Really pretty incredible. So I'll tell you, if you are going to expect our protection, if you're going to expect to trade with us in our markets, then you're going to have to do something for us. And if you don't, you're going to find out the consequences rather quickly, as Spain so well did today. Welcome again to the program. Good to have you here. Boy, oh boy, trade with Spain is over. He's like, no more. No more. That's how you can talk to Pedrito. No more, little Pedro, okay? it's over. Spain became sort of front and center right away this morning. I mean, Donald Trump got a lot
Starting point is 00:03:07 accomplished today. Let's just say before lunch, he had already cut off trade with Spain. He had humiliated George Maloney yet again. He had resumed the war with Iran and somehow got NATO to pay up. Pretty good morning. Spain, meanwhile, they've been kind of the problem child here. you know and Donald Trump doesn't like problem children he deals with them well you know you could probably talk to junior who would tell you what it was like to be I mean I think he went through like a couple of tough years right and his dad was like mm because that's kind of how you have to treat these little countries like little kids and when they screw up you've got to punish them you've got to be willing so he described Spain as a pretty terrible partner he said it was a lost cause effectively
Starting point is 00:03:57 trying to deal with Spain. And as such, they've been cut off. Yeah, big time. Spain. Spain is a wasted cause. We don't want to do any trade business with Spain anymore, by the way. I'd like you to cut it up. Spain is a terrible partner in NATO. They don't participate. They don't pay. I don't want anything to do with Spain. Cut off all trade with Spain, please. Including visits. Okay. We don't want anything to do. Watch them come running back. They'll come running back. They treat this man terribly, and this man's a good man, too.
Starting point is 00:04:35 Great man. They're lucky they have them. But Spain doesn't agree to anything, and you shouldn't carry them. I mean, you sort of automatically carry it because you're protecting an area, so they're there. So they probably figured they have to protect us, right? But we don't have to. We don't have to trade with them. I don't want to do any more trade with them, all right?
Starting point is 00:04:54 Take it immediately. Don't even talk to them. They're hopeless. Bad people because, you know, they have everybody else going and paying and working in Spain, in particular Spain. There are a couple of others, but in particular Spain, they're open about it, they're hostile about it. And let's see a hostile. They remain when they call up and they, please, please, we want to trade with you, sir, we want to trade with you, sir. They make so much money with us and we're going to see that they make a lot less.
Starting point is 00:05:23 I want no business with them. tell us how you really feel. Oh my gosh. You know, this is why people like them though, because there's no pretense. There's no dancing around anything. He's like, I've had it. Scott, done. We're done with them. We're not even traveling there, okay? We don't want them making a stinking scent off of any of us. Look, I mean, we got a couple of big military operations there, right? Very, very important, very strategic for the Mediterranean, for the Middle East. We've talked about them before, the naval base at Rota, the naval base, or the air base, I should say, at Moron. And these are facilities that have supported American operations.
Starting point is 00:06:03 I mean, you can go back to Libya, you can go back to the Balkans, Afghanistan, Iraq. Again, important, right? So we want them there. But it's almost like they're trying to exploit that. And they forget who's in charge. I mean, I'm sorry to be so brazen about it, but we are in charge. Right. I mean, we better be.
Starting point is 00:06:20 So these bases, they do matter because of their geography. I know we've talked about, hey, you know, maybe we should look at Morocco a little bit more closely. Maybe we should. I mean, heck, they were actually, do you know that Morocco was the very first country in the world to recognize us immediately after we declared our independence in 1776? So, you know, that might actually be like a nice little rendezvous, you know. We can be reunited with Morocco there. Because we want access to the Strait of Gibraltar.
Starting point is 00:06:52 That's kind of important. That's why we have this relationship with Spain. That's why you have those two operations, a very important maritime choke points. Any American naval operation moving between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean is going to depend heavily on the logistics that you're going to get through Spain, which raises the question, why aren't they also contributing to defense spending? Or are they seeing this as like, oh, we have a strategic position here. We can pull an Iran.
Starting point is 00:07:21 You know, the next thing we know, they're going to want to charge us, for the Strait of Gibraltar access. I'm not kidding. They're friends with Iran. They actually have an Iranian TV station that is all in Spanish, so the people don't even know better. It's actually controlled by the Ayatollah.
Starting point is 00:07:36 And it's like, you know, CNN in Spain. It's like a regular thing that people watch, and it's all in Spanish. And it's controlled by Iran. So we're talking brainwashing on steroids. And for years, these guys, they wouldn't even meet the lousy 2%. I don't even think they're still.
Starting point is 00:07:53 at the 2% of GDP. I mean, a heck of a lot of these guys. They were all failing to reach that. Every single one of them, right? So Donald Trump comes along. He's like, hey, 2%, please fork it over. And then he went really wild. And he said, we're moving it up to 5%, you guys.
Starting point is 00:08:11 And everybody thought a couple of years ago he was just hilarious, right? Not anymore. They didn't respect us two years ago. They laughed at us. NATO laughed at us. Everybody laughed at us. They don't laugh anymore. There's no more laughing.
Starting point is 00:08:26 No more laughing indeed. No more laughing. Because this administration is going to pay up. You are going to pay up because we pay a lot, so therefore you guys are going to pay a lot too, right? 5% would place NATO countries near Cold War levels of military investments. Spain has indicated it has no intention of reaching that target anytime soon. But, you know, that's only part of the story here because the relationship has been deteriorating very badly ever since the Iran War, which now we're doubling down on here today.
Starting point is 00:09:03 I mean, Spain declined, as you know, Roeta and Moran. We weren't able to access our bases. I mean, think about that. This is wild. And so, yeah, for Trump, it crossed a line. For Washington, you know, a lot of people in Washington are like, oh, you know, you just have to deal with it. you just have to be diplomatic, you just have to handhold them, and we have to pay for them, et cetera, et cetera.
Starting point is 00:09:27 No, we don't. Okay, because it is a new world order. A new world order, we're looking at this and saying, well, what do we get for this? We're providing security for you, and what do we get in exchange? And this is what is on the table. And this is what is challenging every single assumption that we've ever seen with Europe, which is why I say it really is a whole new world order. We're using financial tools as weapons to get better outcomes for us. I mean, think about all these negotiations.
Starting point is 00:10:05 You have President Trump threatening major tariffs on Mexico. Oh, and then, by the way, we got Toyota. What do you know? They're making a $3.5 billion dollar investment in Texas, taking their money out of Canada. Ha-huh. Funny how that works. Right. Nafta turned out not to be such a great deal for any of us after all. I mean, he threatened Canada. He threatened Mexico. The whole Canada, Mexico, U.S. trade agreement. And by the way, he negotiated. He negotiated. It just got blown up. All right. He just said, enough is enough is enough. I think if we keep this thing fluid, you know, since I'm back in power and I'm here and I can change it now, we're going to have more opportunity. And so a lot of people have a hard time
Starting point is 00:10:47 with this, okay? And I get it. You know, they like the status quo and it was sort of working for everybody but us, right? And he's like, and he said this for years. I don't think the U.S. is well run. I don't think we negotiate well. I mean, little pedrito Sanchez thinking that somehow he has a seat at the table. I'm sorry, you don't. I mean, even FIFA figured that one out pretty quickly, right? I mean, the FIFA guy was like, okay, yeah, that was a bad call. By the way, it was a bad call. a bad call, he shouldn't have gotten the red flag. I know we're still kind of sucky at soccer. I mean, we're not, you know, football is kind of our thing. The real football, right? And baseball and a bunch of other sports. We're not the best at soccer, but you know, we're getting better and
Starting point is 00:11:30 better. But you're going to give us a fair shot. I mean, when you try and take out our player, for goodness sakes, it's kind of nice that we have a president that can pick up the phone and say, for goodness sakes, enough is enough people, right? I mean, it is a new world order. So, hey, Spain, you better figure this one out. It's a little challenging only because Spain's problem now becomes all of the EU's problem because the Spain, of course, is part of the EU. And so unless Donald Trump wants to break up the EU, I don't know, maybe that's where he's heading. I've always said it's a lousy, lousy agreement. They've actually got to be stronger together and actually be one united force. They can't be all these little tiny countries, right? Because
Starting point is 00:12:10 you're going to run into stuff like we're running into with Pedrito. Okay, little Pedro thinks he's in charge of the whole EU and he can hold up the whole EU. So they've got to kind of manage him or run the risk that we just say, yeah, we're not going to trade with any of you. Because when we put tariffs on to Spain or we say we're cutting off trade with Spain, we're effectively cutting off trade with all of the EU. So you see how this escalates things. And he knows that. He knows darn well. And so it's part of his sort of strategy. There's a method to the madness, if you would. But he's absolutely right to take on Spain because it is not right, it is not fair, that they are out there saying, we're not going to pay
Starting point is 00:12:50 when everyone else is paying. But, you know, it's not just about Spain here. If you want a $3,000 a month payday for life, what would you feel free to do? Maybe take a long weekend, every weekend, or try a bunch of new hobbies. Would you feel free to upgrade and listen ad free? Don't worry, we get it. Starting point is 00:13:19 Feel free to buy your payday for life ticket today. Raffle number 155 2194. Please play responsibly. It's also about Greenland. Boy, oh boy, we got some fireworks over Greenland. Did we not today? Wow. You know, those Danes, they get a little excited. I told you about them.
Starting point is 00:13:38 They can be kind of vicious. Ficious little guys are rather big ones because they're quite tall. Well, let's just say they are clinging to their little island of Greenland with all its might and their might. You get some 800,000 plus square miles of ice, 57,000 people. There are only 57,000. So it would be great for us, right?
Starting point is 00:13:56 I don't know how to take on a ton of liability, but we get a lot of territory that would be strategically worthwhile. So let me make a prediction for you here and now. Hey, and the Danes listening, we're going to get it. I'm pretty sure we're going to get it. I mean, look, we only get a couple years left with Donald Trump in the driver's seat, but I think they're pushing pretty hard behind this. scenes. Remember, you know, for years, all the critics dismissed Donald Trump's interest in Greenland
Starting point is 00:14:22 is little more than just a bunch of political theater. In 2019, he first floated the idea of purchasing Greenland and much of the political establishment was out there laughing. I think Jimmy Kimmel had a few laughs or two. All those late-night comedians, most of whom aren't anymore, right? The editorial pages, oh, saying it's absurd, it's absurd. Denmark all up in arms rejecting the idea outright. Denmark is actually scared of him. They went after me very hard. very, very hard a few years back. And I think I was sort of, because I was at Fox at the time, so it was a chance to go after Fox and therefore in their eyes go after Donald Trump. I don't think it really had much to do with me. Although, you know, maybe it did. Maybe I'm more important
Starting point is 00:15:03 than I think. For some reason, I have the ability to launch these sort of international incidents. I've had India go after me, Denmark go after me, China go after me. Yeah, let's just say. You know, and it's just little old me. Anyway, I'm glad I got you guys in my corner. Denmark at the time was like, no way. And they rejected the idea. Like I said, they've been terrified to him for a long time. Most people assumed that that was the end of it.
Starting point is 00:15:31 But it wasn't. It wasn't. And we learned today, all of his trouble with NATO started with Dananta Greenland. Listen. NATO, I'm not happy with NATO, because of what they did with Greenland. And I'm not happy with NATO because of the fact that they didn't want to help us with the number one state sponsor of terror.
Starting point is 00:15:54 That's Iran. They were unwilling to help us. You heard that? Okay. So the first problem was it wasn't even the money. He said the first problem was, of course the money gave him the refusal, by the way, the refusal to help with Iran gave him the excuse to make a big deal about the money. But the first problem was Greenland. He came right out and said, like, we want Greenland.
Starting point is 00:16:20 I'm going to get back to this. I get a little graphic there on the screen, and I just want to talk to you about how they are having these high-level talks, and they are going on. And I actually, I'm not kidding when I say, I think he's going to get it when push comes to shove, because who matters more? Us or Denmark?
Starting point is 00:16:38 Anyone? I think we know the answer to that. So, yeah, he came out yesterday, too, and he said, you know, this all started with Greenland? With respect to what? Well, that's what hurt my relationship with NATO, because Greenland doesn't help Denmark. Denmark doesn't spend money to really help Greenland,
Starting point is 00:17:02 but it's an important part for the United States. And it's surrounded by China ships and Russian ships. And that's not going to happen. The ships is not going to happen. It was Greenland that in my, and it continues to be, That should be controlled by the United States, not by Denmark. And when they wouldn't go along with it, and with all the money we spend to help them with Russia,
Starting point is 00:17:27 and we don't have to spend any money. We could remove all of our soldiers out of Europe. Oh my gosh. So you heard that, right? He's basically, and I know we went through this yesterday, but I want to double down on this because he brought up Greenland again today. With Mark Ruta sitting right there next to him. Mark Ruta is the ambassador to NATO.
Starting point is 00:17:45 He actually likes Mark, and poor Mark is like trying to. to keep the whole thing, you know, hanging on by a thread. And he's like, we need Greenland. It should be run by us. And he said the same thing yesterday. What the heck do you guys have a Denmark running for? You know, Denmark, really, you know, with their five soldiers. I mean, all six foot seven of them, though.
Starting point is 00:18:05 You know, the Great Dames, those dogs, you know, they're named accordingly. Anyway, you know, yes, of course we would do better by Greenland than Denmark would. the people should love it. They should want it because, you know, if nothing else, you'd have a heck of a lot more of a prosperous future with the United States back in you, as opposed to the socialists in Denmark. Even they've been gravitating away from socialism, much like our friends over in Sweden. So right now, the U.S. is in these active, very high-level talks. They're trying to make sure that they locked on those bases there. That's really, really important. You know, the U.S. territory is still on the table. It is still on the table. We may take some of the
Starting point is 00:18:43 territory. We may take the whole darn thing, right? He wants the whole kit and a boodle. And as we discussed yesterday, and I don't want to repeat myself too much, but you know, you have a lot of reasons for wanting Denmark. It is, you know, if you're playing a game of Monopoly, it's kind of like, what was the one when you get to the end? Is that Broadway or something that you always wanted to have? This is the one that you really want to have. Because it's got a lot of stuff going on, like a whole lot of things that we really need in terms of some of the minerals that are up there in terms of the actual location of the place, right? If you believe that we're going to have a bunch of icebergs melting, then you're
Starting point is 00:19:26 going to have one open sea there and you want to make sure that you have that access. You want to make sure that you have that. So I would just say there's a lot of reasons for us to be very, very focused, focused on Greenland. And, you know, the reporters there in Greenland, they know that and they don't like it very much. This was a kind of of an interesting moment with a Danish reporter I want to show you here. Mark, you sit next to Donald Trump in moments where he talks about conquering Greenland, talks about lashing out at allies like Spain, starting trade wars. Things that it doesn't seem like the old, Mark Rode would approve of.
Starting point is 00:20:04 Does this have any effect on your self-respect when you sit next to him like that and say nothing? You know, what I always do is acknowledge when Grace is you. And I think we should praise Donald Trump for the fact that NATO is so much stronger. Of course it has to do with the Russian threat. It has to do with the war in Ukraine. But it's very much also has to do with President Trump delivering now. Since Eisenhower, the United States tried to achieve equalizing spending between the US and Europe. And it makes Europe stronger.
Starting point is 00:20:36 It makes Europe more relevant for the United States as a partner. So that is the transformative character of this summit of what happened in the Hague, the implementation since the Hague. this summit as a point in time where we take stock, and I think that's extremely important. And when it comes to Greenland, I already explained. We had the meeting in Davos. And I said, I agree with you.
Starting point is 00:20:59 When it comes to Russia, when it comes to China, gaining access to the high north. But let's do this together. We have NATO for this. Let's work together on this. This is exactly what we are doing. You know, I think this is just great. This reporter was really trying to humiliate,
Starting point is 00:21:16 Mark. Now, it's funny because he's actually a Danish reporter. And for starters, it is ambassador Ruta, especially in a formal setting like that. It would be like me saying, hey Donald. You know, like, you're at NATO for goodness sake. So already the little reporter was trying to kind of push his weight around, right? He's trying to, you know, really try and So Mark Ruta, who's boss? Again, don't forget, he wants to hang on to Greenland with everything he's got. And he's kind of like a hired hitman. They sent him out there.
Starting point is 00:21:57 The government of Denmark sent him out there for a reason. They wanted to try to embarrass the ambassador to NATO and say, hey, you know, don't you feel like such a loser because you're up there? you're like not a man because you're standing next to Donald Trump as he says he wants to take over Greenland. Well, if you're Ruta, maybe you actually want the U.S. Did you ever think about that? That he actually wants the U.S. to take over Greenland?
Starting point is 00:22:27 Because guess what? The whole world is a safer place with the United States owning Greenland because we could actually fight for it as opposed to Little Denmark. Yeah. And then I think Mark did actually a very good job, Mr. Ruta, of just destroying this reporter right there in his seat because I think actually he proved the point that Donald Trump's tactics are working and that actually Europe will be safer as a result of this. I mean, I would argue that Denmark would be safer if the United States had Greenland.
Starting point is 00:23:05 Right? I mean, if the Soviets, like they tell us, or forgive me, Russia, are to be a real threat, then wouldn't you actually want to ensure that you have the United States up there? Right? I mean, you've got China out there investing in all kinds of Arctic research stations and mining projects, and they even have what they call a polar silk road as an extension of their global infrastructure strategy. Russia is doing similar type things. So Trump sees that.
Starting point is 00:23:38 Right? And that's why Greenland matters here. I mean, you get natural resources. Greenland possesses, I think, significant deposits of rare earth elements, forgive me. You know, get zinc, copper, nickel, all these critical minerals that are needed for semiconductors. And in this new world economy, right, for electric vehicles, advanced electronics. I mean, we need this stuff. We want this stuff.
Starting point is 00:23:59 And so, yeah, we're going to keep pursuing Greenland. And I kind of think we're going to get it because who matters more I go back to. This is all very simple. And Europe needs us more than they need Denmark. Denmark actually needs us.
Starting point is 00:25:23 And as we think about how the world is changing, and you have two big superpowers, they're very serious national security concerns, up there in the Arctic hanging out, China and Russia, you kind of need and want us. there too. We don't want little Denmark with their five soldiers. So Greenland is a potential answer here, a potential solution to us having more responsibility. Now, if we're to take forward this whole idea that Europe doesn't want to take responsibility for anything itself, right?
Starting point is 00:25:54 It doesn't want to pay. Then hey, all the more reason. Just give it to us. Honestly, you guys should just give it to us because then we take it off your hands. You don't have to worry about it anymore. I mean, you don't know what to do with it clearly. The U.S. already has. it's Petuk-Fick space-base, right? Formerly the thorough-full airbase. Am I saying that one right? T-H-U-L-E-F-L-E-Fool Air Base. And for decades, American radar systems have been up there.
Starting point is 00:26:20 They have watched the intercontinental ballistic missiles approaching over the North Pole. We're the ones that do that, okay? We're doing it. And it's also a very important path to watch because the shortest path for all these Russian missiles to North America is not actually across the Atlantic, it's over the Arctic. I mean, think about it. When you're flying, like if you fly to Europe or you, you know, you go right over the Arctic. You can see Greenland
Starting point is 00:26:44 when you go over, okay? Because that is the shortest path. So it's strategically critical. And this is why Donald Trump sees it as protection for the world. And, you know, Mark Ruta, if he's smart, also sees it as protection for the world. But the Danes, you know, they just can't let their egos go. They really, really can't let their egos. go. So yeah, they sent the reporter out there. I would just say this. He's trying to embarrass Mark Ruta, trying to say, none of this is really working, but hey, we got news for him. It is. Here is a piece in Reuters today. NATO's Ruta says Alliance reunited at Ankara Summit after Trump quarrel. Okay, and this is an exclusive interview that they did. And let me go to this. They quote him as saying,
Starting point is 00:27:32 they knew what they got when they hired me. So basically the, Reuters reporter picked up where the Danish reporter left off and kind of said, hey, you know, don't you feel like a fool because you have to sit there next to the guy and you're sitting there and you're kind of flattering him and isn't that stupid? And he's like, no, they know what they got when they hired me. And they know who I am. So if people are doing good stuff, I'll say so. If I do not agree, I will also say so, but then probably not out in the open and try to maintain a unity of alliance. So he's out there in the background telling these Europeans guys, He means it. You're going to have to do something. Back to Denmark, I just want to remind you that
Starting point is 00:28:13 they don't like this idea at all. Their prime minister came out today and reiterated that Greenland's not for sale. She pledged to defend every Ingenital territory, including Danish territory. And so, you know, I get it. This is what she has to say. She has to say it. But it's no longer a conversation about buying an island here. it's a conversation about the future architecture of Western security. And Trump has raised the stakes higher and higher and higher because he is suggesting that America's allies continue resisting his broader vision, particularly on defense, but in the U.S. could reconsider the size and scope of its military presence in Europe.
Starting point is 00:28:51 Okay, and that's what counts. If we take all our troops and go home, that is the ultimate Trump card. And so that's what he's willing to play for. He is swinging hard. We talked about leverage the other day. I talked about reciprocity. He wants reciprocity from Europe at the very least just yesterday. And today I'm telling you it's all coming together to have one massive geopolitical impact between the defense spending, between trades, strategic territory and military basing. You know, to him, none of these are separate conversations. They're all part of the same thing. They're all part of the same deal. And they're all part of the same
Starting point is 00:29:31 negotiation. And I'll tell you, it's working. It is working. Okay, that's the sort of punchline for the little Danish reporter trying to trip up the ambassador saying, oh, you know, how can you sit there next to Donald Trump as he does this and this and this? But it's working because think about after all these headlines from Spain to Greenland that we got to today, to the little reporter out of Denmark, trying to say that Donald Trump is an embarrassment. The answer is, and Mark Ruta said this. Hey, guess what? This alliance is already changing. It's already changing. And we are getting the respect we deserve because we forced it. They didn't respect us two years ago. They laughed at us. Nato laughed at us. Everybody laughed at us. They don't laugh anymore.
Starting point is 00:30:21 There's no more laughing. No, no more. I mean, hey, even Carney, up there in Canada, even Carney's like, yeah, he won. He won. He won. Trump won. For a shift of the burden within NATO, that's appropriate. That is happening. That's gaining momentum. That's part of the point I made to President Trump when we spoke a few days ago is that it's not just he's winning the argument. He's won the argument. Countries recognize that they need to take more responsibility, see the direct threats.
Starting point is 00:30:54 Now, the question for NATO and part of what we will discuss and part of the point I will make, in the room with my three and a half minutes of times. Okay, okay, but we get the picture, right? We get the picture. Yes, we are winning. We are doing quite a good job, and it's because we have somebody different in charge. Think about how much money is now being committed.
Starting point is 00:31:17 I mean, nobody thought this was possible at all. And yet we're looking at about a trillion dollars coming in to American defense companies from Europe. You see how this is changing. The whole landscape has changed. It used to be we would charge American tax. taxpayers and we would take that money and we would funnel it into defense companies who would then go and provide the defense in Europe.
Starting point is 00:31:39 Now, Europeans are going to use their taxpayer dollars to pay our American defense companies to put defense equipment in their countries. Now, that's a better scenario, don't you think? I think so. Some have truly answered the call and others are making big change. and we'll be answering the call. I think I can say in all cases, they're going to be answering the call. And we'll be taking in over a trillion dollars a year toward defense.
Starting point is 00:32:13 And that's a tremendous amount of money. You better believe it. And he wants more. He wants more and more and more. I mean, these countries, they got it. In the working session this morning, we discussed the progress. Other members are making toward the 5%
Starting point is 00:32:30 target and they're making great progress. Many of these countries are very rich, by the way. We'd have to feel sorry for them. But it doesn't mean they're properly protected. There's a big difference. They got the money. They get the money. They can pay up. These are mature economies. We've talked a lot about that. I'll tell you. They got it, right? So why are they looking out to us for all the handouts all the time? We're not going to do it anymore. We're just not. Like those days are over. The key is whoever comes up next has to be able to continue this. We certainly hope they can.
Starting point is 00:33:04 We certainly hope they can. Georgia Maloney. Oh, this was embarrassing. Really, really embarrassing. There was a big dinner last night. Very big dinner. Apparently she was like hiding from Trump or something because she showed up really late. I mean, I'll show you in a second, but here's the president on the dinner last night.
Starting point is 00:33:25 dinner last night, President Erdogan, and I think it was really a, I would rate it a 10, maybe a 12. Here he is pulling up to the dinner last night. Look at that in the beast. Okay, they don't have a red carpet, they got the blue carpet there, and they got the marching band playing there in Turkey, the whole bit. You get a real feel for things, and he comes out of this, and he's greeted, of course, by Erdogan. And it's, you know, it's a big spectacle, a lot of pomp and circumstance that goes into this. A lot of theater, and the producer in him, I guarantee you, appreciates this. And don't forget, you know, he's had some experience in the entertainment business, of course.
Starting point is 00:34:07 So there he is, straightening his tie, you see, getting ready for the cameras to walk up and be greeted, of course, by President Erdogan there. So you hear the music in the background. It's a big, big spectacle. And I point this out because I want to. share George Maloney's arrival and contrast it with what we see from President Trump because he's very warmly greeted there by the Turkish leader and I believe that's his wife so you see him going up and his friend as he calls him right now we have mixed feelings about that anyway they're having a nice warm handshake and he invites him in there to have dinner so the rest of that tape if we were to
Starting point is 00:34:51 fall through with it, shows him turning around and they walk in. Okay, they walk in. And they start the dinner. And then somebody else decides to show up a bit late. The signora Georgia Maloney there getting out of her car, not quite the beast. And walking up very quickly, she's late, like really late. And some people are saying, maybe this was deliberate. Maybe she did not want to have run into Donald Trump, but she's so late, she doesn't even get greeted by Erdogan. She gets greeted by the vice president of Turkey. So that's awkward. Everybody's left. Everybody's gone inside. And there's Georgia, the straggler, at the end of the night, showing up. So a lot of people are speculating. You know, she just didn't want to have to spend
Starting point is 00:35:43 any more time with Donald Trump than she had to because they've had some rather uncomfortable moments as of late. I mean, perhaps no leader has felt quite the pressure that Georgia Maloney has. And, you know, I think that that's come across pretty evidently so, if you would. Georgia ignoring him today, it seems Georgia Maloney taking the opportunity not just to not interact with Donald Trump last night at the dinner, but to really kind of stay away from him, even at the photo op. We'll take a look at this. People are talking about this, saying she deliberately looked away from him.
Starting point is 00:36:25 If you watch the body language, she wants nothing to do with him at this point. Let's take a peek. Okay, so she's looking at everybody, including Ambassador Mark Ruta, and she seems to not even see Trump. So she must have seen him out of the corner of her eye, and then she just completely, completely avoided him. She was asked by reporters today if she has any regrets about her friendship with Donald Trump, because don't forget they were like fast friends.
Starting point is 00:37:00 You know, she's conservative. She was campaigning on this idea of Italy first, very similar to Donald Trump. And so they asked her, do you regret that? And she said, I regret nothing. All right, all right, all right. He was actually kind of nice to her. I mean, after all, he put this thing up. So maybe he kind of owed her one after that.
Starting point is 00:37:18 He had a few laughs at her expense. Of course, she's the one. Do not forget, ladies and gentlemen, who denied us the use of our own Sigonella. air base, as well as the Aviano Air Base, as well as Camp Darby. I mean, these are some big bases, big operations that we have in Italy, and we couldn't use them. So naturally, he's a little ticked off, as he was so willing to tell us. I think she's a nice person, actually.
Starting point is 00:37:45 We've had a good, we had a bad relationship, but it became a little bad because she refused to help us. Again, I didn't put a heavy press on her, but she refused to get in. involved with the hormone straight. Or you could also say just Iran. She refused to get involved. So it soured my relationship with her a little bit. But I like her.
Starting point is 00:38:07 I think she's a nice person, actually. Oh, you know, he kind of, you kind of sported her that one at the end. Rumor has it she was hanging out with Zelensky all night at the dinner. This spring, denim gets a softer, lighter update. Introducing Old Navy's drapey denim wide leg, a new fit that moves with you. Wasn't she like, why are we spending on Ukraine and now all of a sudden that is changing? Yeah, it's changing. You know what else is changing?
Starting point is 00:39:25 Our deal with Iran is over. Finito. Forget about it. We don't have a peace deal anymore. The ceasefire is done. President Trump making it very, very clear today. Watch. It's a very interesting question. To me, I think it's over. I don't want to deal with them anymore. They're scum. You know what scum is? They're scum. They're sick people. They're led by sick people. and they're vicious, violent people. And if they had a nuclear weapon, they'd use it. As far as I'm concerned, it's over. I'll speak to our negotiators.
Starting point is 00:40:01 They want to negotiate. They're good people. Steve Whitkoff, Jared Kushner. But they have to come back to me. As far as I'm concerned, it's just a waste of time dealing with them. They're liars. We make a deal. And if I make a deal with him, we have a deal, and he goes out, he talks. We make a deal. Everyone's agreed.
Starting point is 00:40:19 No nuclear weapon. We make a deal. They go outside, talk to the press. They say we never even talked about it. There's something wrong with them. They're cuckoo. As far as I'm concerned, it's over. Boom. You heard them. They're cuckoo. Didn't I say that yesterday? I mean, you can't deal with them because they're all a bunch of religious, not jobs. This is my favorite quote of the day. Okay, I'm going to show you. The president is asked by a New York Times reporter, like, how is it that last month you thought that they were great? And now you don't think so. anymore.
Starting point is 00:40:52 Mr. President, Tyler Pager with the New York Times. Last month you said Iranian leaders were very rational people, nice people to deal with, strong people, smart people. Today you said they were scum, sick people and being led by sick people. What changed and do you think they're- I got to know him. So I've said that about a lot. Now when you say rational, I got to know him.
Starting point is 00:41:15 All right. Well, there you have it. He got to know him. Look, I think that that deal could come back. We'll see. The sanctions that we had allowed them to no longer live under, they're back in place. So they can't trade oil anymore. The embargo is going back in.
Starting point is 00:41:31 As of just the last few minutes, we have engaged in strikes again. We had 80 targets hit last night. Guys, this, this ain't over. This ain't over. You know what they say, till the fat lady sings. And I don't think anybody's going to be singing anytime soon. Hey, great to have you here. Just a quick reminder.
