Starting point is 00:00:00 Did you know that Cameron Dallas slipped into my teeth? You showed me. I was shocked, to be honest. It's real, guys. I did not expect for that to happen. It's real. And by the way, I- You're a mom.
Starting point is 00:00:13 You've got two kids. I don't think it was actually him. People's sexiest man alive. Finally, we're talking about this. That's about to be announced. Let's have Abby decide who she thinks is the sexiest man alive. Wait, wait. What are we judging sexy on?
Starting point is 00:00:23 You want to look at their job qualifications and all these other things? There's a lot more things that can make a man sexy, Matt. Guess who slid into my DMs? Jason Derulo. Who I think- Sexy. No, I'm kidding. You probably think he's one of the sexiest men alive.
Starting point is 00:00:35 Welcome back to the Unplanned Podcast. We are your hosts, Matt and Abby. You guys, we just got back from Disney World with our kids. It was a pretty good time. We were there for so long, but honestly, the whole time, it was fun. I feel like the highlight from Disney World with our kids. It was a pretty good time. We were there for so long, but honestly the whole time it was fun. I feel like the highlight for me was taking our kids to Fantasmic,
Starting point is 00:00:50 the show at Hollywood Studios, because they were so excited. It brought back major nostalgia for me, because I went to that show with my family when I was, I think five, and then again when I was 10, and it just made me feel like I was a kid being there again with my kids.
Starting point is 00:01:03 It was really cool. Full circle. We also bought a bubble maker for $37 right before the show started. Griffin really wanted one and I, we were, we were like placing bets on like, how much is this thing going to cost? And I was, I was shocked. I mean, that, that is quite the price for a bubble maker. I thought it would be like $26 and I thought even 26 was gonna be like high for that. It was $37.99 and I knew we were in
Starting point is 00:01:30 trouble because when I was at this like bubble wand cart the woman before me had spent over $100 at this cart. On bubble makers. Three kids. That's it. So I was like oh this is gonna be crazy. Yeah $37. it's one of those things and then like with tax I think like I don't know what that put it at but it was crazy. Was it expensive? Yes, but the pure joy That's why I told Matt on his face That was like a core memory him walking down with his little light up Mickey bubble wand down the streets of Hollywood Studios It was so sweet and I remember even as a kid like my parents before It was so sweet. And I remember even as a kid,
Starting point is 00:02:03 like my parents before Phantasm, it got me a light up toy. It was Cinderella and it spun her little, like it had lights in her dress spun around. And I just was like, that was so, so sweet and so fun. Obviously, like if you do that all the time, then it doesn't feel special. But since it was like this, like, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:02:23 I feel like you can't do that all the time, but every once in a while it's super sweet feel special. But since it was like this, like, I don't know. I feel like you can't do that all the time, but every once in a while it's super sweet and special. Yeah. Also in recent news, Abby left her phone in our Uber yesterday on her way back from Disney. And I went on a wild goose chase to hunt this thing down, you guys. I was pinging it like crazy.
Starting point is 00:02:39 I knew it was in the Uber driver's car, but she wasn't picking it up. I marked it as lost and was hoping. Which is weird, okay, can I say that? Because you guys know if you pinged a phone on find my iPhone, which is what it was on, that's how Matt knew it was in the Uber because it was moving around with the vehicle.
Starting point is 00:02:54 It's loud, especially if you're in a car. It would be so, so loud. And didn't you say she kind of acted like she didn't even hear it? Well, it was weird because I eventually got ahold of her because I figured out you can go on Uber and put, I lost an item and they'll connect you to your driver, but it's not their actual phone number. So you like Uber has their Uber number and then they connect you
Starting point is 00:03:16 to on like a connected line. But that's kind of good because it protects both the person accepting the ride and the driver. Exactly. And so she answers the phone and I'm still actively pinging it. I could hear the phone pinging the entire time I was on the phone with her. So I'm like, how did you not know? It just seemed, she was so nice. We had a really good conversation with her. Yeah, we really connected with her.
Starting point is 00:03:35 And I only wanna assume positive things about this lady. But then once I could clearly hear the phone pinging while I was on the phone with her, I was like, why did she not just pick it up up? You know, it was weird. It was just, I don't know what was going on there, but I was after like an hour of literally like getting mad. She wasn't going to meet you. Like she was like, I was like, dude, I got her, I got her to tell me. So she gave me her number.
Starting point is 00:04:00 And then it's not like you were asking her to come back to our house. I'm going to, I see where you are because I have find my iPhone like I'll meet you where you're at And she was like no well she did ask for our address, but for safety I was like well she knows like the general area We're in but like uber hide your address from them I think so that it's like keeps everything safe at our house because she dropped us off there She was so I was like well I don't know maybe it's just safer to meet up at a public place, because that's what Uber suggested on their app anyway.
Starting point is 00:04:26 So I just said, hey, let's meet at this Costco parking lot. And then she wasn't getting back to me, wasn't getting back to me. And eventually she was like, sorry, it's just not gonna work. And then luckily though, because I was still tracking your phone, I said, hey, I'm nine minutes away from you.
Starting point is 00:04:39 Could you please just like hold where you are and I will drive to you. Like I can see you're right by the Starbucks. Let's just go there." And then she said, okay, well I'll just grab a Starbucks while I'm while I'm hanging out. Also, if you didn't know this, if you lose an item. Is that why you got me Starbucks yesterday? I happened to be by a Starbucks and I grabbed you Starbucks. Oh, I thought you were like, okay, well that's still sweet.
Starting point is 00:04:59 Yeah, I thought about you. I was like, oh, Abby's favorite order right now is the pecan crunch. Yes. It's the pecan one. So I got you that. The new holiday flavors are out at Starbucks. Yeah. Okay, just to button that story up, we got my phone back. Thank you for doing that.
Starting point is 00:05:12 Yes, we got the phone back. Thank goodness. Anyway, Starbucks holiday flavors out now. The new pecan crunch oat milk latte. So freaking, it's the best flavor that they've had yet. Phenomenal. It's actually better than the Chestnut Praline. That's like my go-to.
Starting point is 00:05:31 And that one is really good. That one's really good. And you brought me over. I switched teams. You know what I realized? We like all the nutty ones because we also like the pistachio one that comes out. I think it comes out in like January.
Starting point is 00:05:41 Yeah. So all Pecan Crunch, Chestnut Praline, and Pistachio are all like our favorite ones, which kind of makes us sound like old people. Yeah. Speaking of old people, by the way. Yeah, we are kind of old at heart in a way. I don't know. Yes and no. But yesterday, so- You are. You are. Yes. An old soul, maybe. But we got home after Matt chased, so while Matt was chasing for my phone, I was like I'll run to the grocery store because we were still going to host Sunday dinner because that's really important to me like that we see our families and like have tradition and I'm like kind of trying to hurry because that whole ordeal was putting us off schedule
Starting point is 00:06:23 and everyone was coming at one and so I'm like hurrying in the grocery store and I'm waiting, there's only one register open and I'm waiting. There's an old lady in front of me and I was like she is taking her sweet time. Like just, you know, there's a different pace of life when you get, like she was probably mid 80s. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:47 And then she pulls out those mailers that come from grocery stores, from the grocery store, and she pointed to an item, she's like, you're sold out of this, but I want you to redeem that, like I want you to still honor that price for me once you're back in stock. And so she knew about this policy and the lady pulls out a pre-made card template and she writes
Starting point is 00:07:12 down the item and she asks the lady what quantity she wants and she was like, two. Guess what the item was? What? She's like an almost 90-year-old woman. She wanted two cans of Red Bull. Oh my God. That's hilarious. For the price of $129. That's so funny. Which I'll be honest, it seems like a good deal in this economy. Yeah. Uh, $129 for two Red Bulls. And so she got a little slip that she put in her billfold. So when she goes
Starting point is 00:07:38 to the store next time, she's going to see if that kind of Red Bull is in stock and she can get them for $129 for two of them. But she had to say the quantity and she literally wanted two cans of Red Bull. I think it's funny because we laugh at that stuff but we're gonna be the same way when we're 90. I know! No, I thought it was actually really sweet because I was like, imagine that woman's attention to detail. Like, her mail comes in and I feel like we just like are moving so fast.
Starting point is 00:08:00 She's sitting there, she's, I just picture her just like like, you know Turning through the pages of her mailers and like well That's a great price for Red Bull and then like specifically goes out of her way to go to that store To get two cans of it. I don't know. It's just really sweet. I loved it Yeah, that's so precious and when I came out to my car, she was still loading her vehicle that and I was just like I love that like obviously she she definitely was just like, I love that. Like, obviously, she, she definitely was just like us, like moving fast at one time of her life. Right now, she's just taking a different pace. And I thought that was really like, funny and sweet. You bringing up, bringing up Red Bull makes me think about that headline we have for this week's episode. Apparently, there's
Starting point is 00:08:40 young kids going to the hospital because they're drinking too much caffeine. I feel like my mom would have sent me this article if she had seen it because my mom when she found out we had like Prime Energy and Elani and all these energy drinks at our house she was so worried she was sending me all these articles about how caffeine can kill you and all these warnings about caffeine and so then just mess with my mom, my siblings were drinking energy drinks when she was last at our house, just to mess with her. I mean, I think it's probably one thing for adults to have energy and I, or to have energy to have like energy drinks, like that much caffeine. And they still need to moderate it, but it's like, it's literally middle school kids.
Starting point is 00:09:24 Okay. Okay. Yeah. What is this article that we saw? It says more kids are going to the emergency room because of increased heart rate, nausea and anxiety caused by caffeine. The number of caffeine related ER visits for middle school aged kids doubled from 2017 to 2023. Oh my gosh.
Starting point is 00:09:40 And boys had tripled the number of visits. I will say when I was a middle schooler, I thought drinking Monster Energy drinks was the coolest thing. Like that was kind of, if you're drinking Monster, it made you cool. Well, it's a problem because like, I mean, my mom's elementary school, she taught at an elementary school for 27 years. Yeah. And in her last year teaching there, they had to ban Prime because kids thought Prime was so, so cool. Elementary kids were drinking it. Not like their hydration drinks, like their energy drinks. Well, it makes sense.
Starting point is 00:10:14 So they had to ban Prime altogether. But Abby, I just looked this up. It makes sense that the kids going to the emergency room is doubling because if you look up the caffeine content in the Monster that I was drinking in middle school, we're talking about 86 milligrams. Really? That's not very much caffeine. I mean, that's a lot of caffeine. Wait, I would have thought it was like 200.
Starting point is 00:10:34 No, it's 86 milligrams. And the energy drinks that we drink today, like the Elani New, Prime Energy, what's the other big one that we've been drinking, Celsius, those all have 200 milligrams. So that's over double the amount of, that's two and a half, right? Yeah, two and a half times. I would have thought it was much more in those. And you remember how when we were kids, our moms were like- We thought soda was so much caffeine. Coke, like my mom would not let me have Coke as a kid. That's like 40 grams. I think it's 40 or 45 grams of caffeine. That is not very much.
Starting point is 00:11:06 That's crazy. Yeah. I looked this up too because apparently I think it's for under the age of 13. Doctors recommend that you should not be like giving kids under the age of 13 any caffeine or something like that. They don't need that. I looked it up last week. You can fact check me on that. But it would make sense though if it can cause issues with development. it would make sense though, if it can cause issues with development, it would make sense that if kids are drinking these 200
Starting point is 00:11:29 milligram drinks of caffeine, why they would end up in the ER. Like you should either developing bodies do not need that. That is because it does say in this article, caffeine is also in foods. So it's like they are getting caffeine, but like to get it in those drinks. That is crazy. I did. I was today years old when I realized that Monster was only 86 milligrams. Dude. What? It says ice cream chewing gum protein bars chocolate chips energy bars and some over-the-counter medications may also contain caffeine which has the same effects as when it occurs naturally in drinks like coffee or tea according to
Starting point is 00:11:59 the agency. Crazy. That is crazy. That's actually yeah I don't I don't even see why anyone under 18 really needs an energy drink. Are we gonna allow our kids to have any caffeine before the age of 13? Before 13? No! Well, the thing is they already want to drink coffee, like they see us with coffee and they're like, coffee please. Okay, I'm not gonna give them their own full cup, but I'm not gonna be like, you know, they can have sips. I don't know, I guess coffee for me is different than energy drinks well I think it's funny because we I think you gave Griffin a sip of your coffee once because you
Starting point is 00:12:31 thought he would hate the taste and never ask ever again he loved it yeah so we do have to be very careful with that this show is sponsored by Better Health you guys I love therapy I think it's awesome I actually started going to therapy for the first time this year Abby and I have gone to therapy this year as well as a couple. Starting point is 00:13:34 well. Yes. And the nice thing is you don't have to drive to them. Starting point is 00:14:14 slash unplanned podcast today to get 10% off your first month. That's betterhelp.com slash unplanned podcast. Do you care about the Grammys? I've actually never paid attention to the Grammys. When are the Grammys by the way actually never paid attention to the Grammys. When are the Grammys, by the way? I could not tell you, but I know that people are apparently upset because Taylor Swift, I think, has gotten a bunch of nominations again this year and some people think there should be space for the new guys, space for the newbies or smaller artists that aren't, you know, as successful as her.
Starting point is 00:14:42 What do you think about that? I'm not really in the music world at all. Actually, I don't even really listen to music. You listen to music. I listen to Christmas music today in the car, but I listen to the same songs over and over. You listen to Johnny Swim. You listen to Michael Buble.
Starting point is 00:14:56 I listen to this. I'm not listening to new music. Let's just say that. Yeah. You have your genres that you go back to. Yeah. So you're into music. You're not as into music. I'm not really. I listen to podcasts, cast if it's quiet anytime over music. But what do you think? Should Taylor Swift continue getting nominated for stuff? Like should they make- I want to know what you think first. Should they make-
Starting point is 00:15:14 No, I want to know what you think. Well, my opinion, if she's the best, she's the best. Oh, okay. Why does that make me bad? Is she the best? I mean, I totally understand if you're saying- Here's the thing, my opinion on this really doesn't matter because I know nothing about anything related to music and Grammys and stuff. But I can understand being like, man, I cannot beat this person out for this and I've been, she's won so many times. I understand that feeling like it's not just. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:41 But if you're the best, you're the best, you know. The thing is, part of being good at something is knowing how to market yourself in that thing that you're good at. And so people could argue, well, there's other artists out there that have arguably just as good, if not better, music than Taylor Swift, but they're just lesser known. And it's like, well, if Taylor Swift crushes the marketing game, that's part of the job of being an artist. Part of the job is telling the story of your music and if she's the best storyteller out there, then yeah, she should be getting these nominations. She should be winning these awards and it is a bummer sometimes where when there's really big fish out there like Taylor Swift,
Starting point is 00:16:20 it's hard to compete because they're so well known, like like how you ever even get to a fraction of what they have but that's just the real world I guess that's how you think it's fair I think it's fair yeah I think it's fair I think okay so how does it work the Grammys work like you're nominated by who and they're voted I know they're voted on by the people I'll be honest I have absolutely no idea but I know with all these things, there's always some politics involved. Of course. But that's also just the world, too.
Starting point is 00:16:50 That's also just like, yeah. That's the world, unfortunately. Like, you can't change that. Some people have connections and some people don't. Yeah, I mean, I feel for those artists that are, like, trying to climb to the top, and they're like, man, Taylor Swift is such a big name she's like globally known you know I don't really know much about Taylor Swift either you know but everyone's always talking about her so I mean yeah she must be pretty
Starting point is 00:17:13 good obviously I hear her music all the time I've heard her show is phenomenal I've heard her shows like very entertaining and it's like long and she just keeps going. Yeah, she's a machine. So, I mean, she works super hard. She obviously has created an incredibly devoted fan base. Like she probably deserves everything. She's getting. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:34 And I think she also got lucky too. You know? Yeah. I mean, there's always an amount of luck that has to do with anybody's success. But I think what people don't realize is people might idolize Taylor or want what Taylor has, but when you want what someone else has, you don't realize all the sacrifices they had to make to get there. People might forget, even though it's been a little bit, it's been a couple of years,
Starting point is 00:17:56 but you know, Taylor Swift got massively canceled to where there were videos of like tens of thousands of people, tens of thousands of people at a Kanye West concert chanting F. Taylor Swift. And like, can you imagine the mental toll that I would have on your psyche if people were saying stuff like that about you, not only on the internet, but in real life too. So I think that is something people need to take into account and it's like,
Starting point is 00:18:19 oh man, I wish I could be successful like that. It's like, do you really though? Because if you are successful at something, there's all these costs that come. That actually reminds me of, you know, while our report we left on our trip is when we heard the news about Liam Payne. Yes, yes.
Starting point is 00:18:34 Which I listened to the podcast version, which is actually just the whole episode. I think it was a 48 hours on like, kind of just like a synopsis of his career in life and untimely passing. And it was so sad. I kept telling you because I obviously listened to it in chunks. And it just made me, it was really, really hard to listen to because he was, you know the start of One Direction,
Starting point is 00:19:08 I learned a lot honestly about One Direction because I was never really a directioner. I've never been a fan girl in general. I feel like in general I don't know what's going on in pop culture a lot of the times. Not for lack of wanting to, I'm just like, where is everyone hearing about this? Like I didn't know about this.
Starting point is 00:19:24 But I obviously listened to all like their songs were the biggest songs like they like shaped my middle school and high school experience yeah but do you know how they started like they were on the X-Factor Simon Cowell put them all together yes so they were all about to get cut and then one of the other hosts or judges was like I think they should be a boy band and they put them together and Liam's first of all you should listen to his first audition I think he's singing fly me to the moon like an older classical song he just had such a mature voice for like he was 14 or 15 at the time crazy so much or he
Starting point is 00:19:58 actually got cut the first year he tried out early like I don't think he made it on and he later ended up saying like thank you for cutting me because it made me work harder. But I think that something they said in that was like the time you, or the age you enter fame is the same age you leave it. And them saying that was like, he had expressed, they had actual clips of him in interviews
Starting point is 00:20:23 talking about how he felt like he had a lot of him in interviews talking about how he felt like He had a lot of gaps in his life like developmentally because of all the life He's like you reach a certain point everyone's doing everything for you So you're basically like if you enter fame as a 15 year old and your fame dies out when you're 25 You're still mentally a 15 year old 25. I mean that's kind of what they were like Saying that's that's an element to it. And I think he started drinking really, really young because he said he thought that anything the bodyguards told him,
Starting point is 00:20:51 like he thought they were his bosses. Like so, I mean, their fame was crazy. I didn't even realize the extent of it. Like it was, they were going show to show to show to show. They were cranking them out. They were recording albums like in booths, like randomly trying to get things out because there. They were cranking them out. They were recording albums in booths, randomly trying to get things out because there was such high demands on them.
Starting point is 00:21:08 They were children. And people were going, girls were going crazy for them. And they were like, hey, can I go in there? And the bodyguard said no, they were like, oh no, we can't do that. They just, their decision-making skills, their life skills. What do you mean about the body body guards were telling the band members what to do? I'm sure they were trying to keep them safe.
Starting point is 00:21:29 Okay, yeah. Like, but they were so restricted too. Like they had everything, but they were also so restricted. And you heard this on, you said 2020? Oh, yeah, it was 2020, not 48 hours. It was the podcast that you listened to on 2020, okay. Yeah, it was, I mean, I could talk a lot about it because I listened to the whole thing and I had so many thoughts on it, but basically it's just
Starting point is 00:21:47 So so sad and I think that comparison paid it played a big role in it also, he he they they did a toxicology report like after his autopsy and he had several substances and him and he talked he was on um Logan Paul's podcast and Not that like yeah And not that, like. Yeah, not that long ago, you're right. And he was talking about how he, I think he was drinking whiskey on the show. Like he was drinking alcohol even on like the podcast.
Starting point is 00:22:15 Like during the day they asked him like, what's in your cup? He was like whiskey, like he's kind of hesitant to answer. I think he just, you know, I think you operate it, you hear it all the time. And that's what they said on this 2020. Every generation has their artists that they blow up so much and then they end up dying in such an untimely tragic way.
Starting point is 00:22:32 And it's because, and here's the other thing I think that plays a role in it is that, those people, they feel like they're on top of the world. So many people idealize their life, they idolize them. And they feel like they don't have room to say like, hey, this sucks, like things about this suck and are really hard. And cause, you know, they'd be like, boo hoo, you have everything, you have all the power,
Starting point is 00:22:52 you have all the money, you have so many people that are just obsessed with you, like boo hoo, we don't care. And so, um. And then they die. And then they die, it was really, really sad, like listening to that, because I just imagine a kid loving to sing and wanting this life and then realizing,
Starting point is 00:23:11 getting there and far exceeding that and then realizing, gosh, this was not at all what I wanted and it becomes a nightmare. And that just makes me so sad for that 14, 15-year-old boy that had this dream, and then they get there and they're like, this is a nightmare that makes me so sad. And it feels like something you can't undo too.
Starting point is 00:23:33 Obviously I'm sure he, because of the struggles he had, I'm sure that he was not a good person to be around. He was in a relationship at the time. I think he was a father, and it's not obviously an excuse for any of that stuff. But I just it was such a tragic death, like you know. Yeah, that is that was sad. That was really really sad. Well, I was sure I mean I thought it was fake news when I first saw it. It was kind of like when I first heard. Yeah, because he fell off a balcony.
Starting point is 00:23:56 I know it seemed like it was some fake thing like a fake headline made up by I don't know AI or something. But that was how I reacted when I first heard about Kobe Bryant's death because when you like, I don't know, AI or something. But that was how I reacted when I first heard about Kobe Bryant's death because when you like, I don't know, it just doesn't seem real. Like it's like, there's no way this happened. There's no way, like you kind of forget that these people are humans and human, like this stuff can happen to anybody.
Starting point is 00:24:19 You just don't know. Well, it's unusual. Yeah. Like you don't know a lot of people that fell off the balcony and that's like how they, you know what I mean? These tragic endings are unusual and especially when it like happens to somebody that is already well known, it's like, it was really, really sad to listen to.
Starting point is 00:24:37 But something that was really cool is that, I guess like a silver lining, if you had to find one in all this, is that when his dad came it was in Argentina that he passed I think he'd gone for a concert I want to say for Nile and ended up staying they found him in his last it was sad the people that worked at the hotel Matt had called 911 multiple times because he was like sleeping in the lobby like he was just not they knew that he was he was not safe mean, they just knew that he was a danger to himself and probably others too. And so they had called 911 multiple times.
Starting point is 00:25:10 And I think they even said to the operator, there's a balcony in his room, I'm concerned. Like it's just so, it's so unfortunate, all of it. And I don't think it's any one person's fault, obviously, but like it was just so sad. Anyway, when his dad came, they have to identify the body. Yeah. His dad flew to Argentina and paparazzi were all over him, like, you know, in his face asking very rude questions for someone that's, like, just lost their son. Can you imagine? But a bunch of fans were there and they ended up blocking the paparazzi from getting to his dad and made a way for him.
Starting point is 00:25:46 That's awesome. And so that kind of gave me chills too. Yeah. I'm just, okay, by the way, I'm fine. I just am someone that wears my emotions on my sleeve, by the way. I'm not even a directioner, but I just care. That just made me sad.
Starting point is 00:26:00 Remember, there was a song that I really connected to of Liam's. Remember that song, Midnight, that I would play all the time. It was with. How does it go? It's like I just want to stay here and fall into midnight. I think he only did a couple songs on his own. Yeah. Yeah and it was such an incredible. I would get chills listening to that song and I don't know like I had this you know at the time we were living in low- income housing and I had this dream of getting to do something creative for my job because I was working at financial planning offices and I think finance is cool but I just wasn't, it wasn't really my thing.
Starting point is 00:26:35 It wasn't my career path, you know, career of choice compared to getting to do a creative job and when I like really connected that song and it happened to be at the time where our like videos started to get discovered online and stuff and I just, that song to me was like was like this representation of like, hey, dreams can come true, you know? And so I would just get chills listening to it because I'm like, I feel so lucky that I get to
Starting point is 00:27:02 make videos on the internet for my job. And he was the one that I'm like, I feel so lucky that I get to make videos on the internet for my job. And he was the one that's saying like I have that song favorited on my Spotify because it's like one of my favorite songs. I think that like a lot of the visuals they were seeing. You crazy just how fast the night changes. They were singing those songs like using those songs for comfort at that time yeah it's it was sad it was really sad because also they kind of went into each individual directioners like is that what they're called directioners I think so yeah one direction members individual careers like Zayn left first yeah and then he did pillow talk which is so funny
Starting point is 00:27:44 cuz like I know all these songs But I didn't I wasn't involved in like, you know All there was really good that obviously Harry Styles has and he dated Taylor Swift So that's kind of like what made me think of all this But yeah, that was something that was really really sad man. I am an old soul though. I mean how many people are My our age are watching 20 20. Why? Yeah Why you kept telling me though you were like, you have to listen to this podcast. Why?
Starting point is 00:28:10 Like what was it about? Because I know that you have a lot of the same aspirations. I feel like you would have looked at Liam's life and been like, I want everything that that guy has. And I think that if he were here to tell you, he would say, it's not all it looks like. And yeah, it just made me so sad. It's kind of like one of those things. I had this realization the other day, you guys,
Starting point is 00:28:35 we have all these dreams that we come up with in our brains, especially if we can work kids. And then, you know, we have, there's so much excitement around those dreams, but as you get older, you know, we have, there's so much excitement around those dreams, but as you get older, you realize that maybe the thing that you wanted as a kid is actually not the best thing for you. Like maybe all the other things that come with whatever dream you had just aren't worth
Starting point is 00:28:58 it. And I think when you look at Liam's life, clearly there's a lot of people that like wanted to be him, still want to have what he had, but I think when you really dig in and look at this hyper successful person's life, you see, yeah, you see the drugs, you see the alcohol, which came as a result of needing to cope with all of this hard stuff that he was dealing with. So I think it is like very eye-opening and it's very, very sad what happened. And I just wish nothing but the best for his family
Starting point is 00:29:30 and his son and his, you know, just everyone that was around him. Cause that's just, that's such a, such a tragic. His girlfriend too probably feels terrible. She left early. She was in Argentina with him. I'm sure that I think they were having troubles in their relationship, but
Starting point is 00:29:46 And anytime someone has an addiction like that, I'm sure. Yeah, no, I can't speak on any of that I don't know I just wish them nothing but the best and it was just sad and I'm talking about like at the end of the day They would come like off such a high they would go they would go Do this major concert have after parties, you know Sleep go to the next, go to the next place, go to the next place. There were machines and he's like, I just would come off that high
Starting point is 00:30:10 and just go to the mini bar in their hotel. And it's so sad, because I'm sure even if he was trying to pursue sobriety, when you are in that position, I feel like it's a tale as old as time. There's people that are wanting to fuel that machine of like, gotta keep you going, whatever it is, we don't have time to take a break and get you healthy again. So yeah, and also every person, I'm sure that this,
Starting point is 00:30:38 obviously, is not the case for everyone that's in that type of super high fame role. It's not this experience for everybody, but it's just sad that that was his experience. To go on a trip with us. Matt accidentally left it in the Uber a full the big sack of liquid IV of my favorite one of my favorite flavors sugar-free raspberry melon to go on a trip with us. Starting point is 00:32:37 using promo code unplanned at liquidiv.com. We were just in Florida where they observed daylight savings or whatever. It's called fallback, right? Where you like the time changes. We live in Arizona. We're currently filming this in Arizona. They don't deserve observed daylight savings in Arizona.
Starting point is 00:32:54 They don't care. Which I think is amazing. I wish that everyone did that. Why did we leave for daylight savings? Actually, you know what? It really didn't affect us that much. But it's like- In fact, we forgot about it
Starting point is 00:33:05 and then we're accidentally almost on time because we got an extra hour. It makes things so confusing though. It does. And I feel like it gets so dark so quickly. It's getting darker here though quicker. Well, that's just cause there's less sunlight in the winter time.
Starting point is 00:33:21 But I remember when I used to live in Missouri, it would get dark at like sometimes freaking four o'clock. It felt like what you like five. Okay, wait, wait, wait, actually hot take. I kind of like that for wintertime. What you like it getting dark at four o'clock. It's kind of cozy. Like you turn on your lamps and you know, it's just like we're staying in because it's
Starting point is 00:33:39 dark already. It's just like it's calm and cozy. I feel like the sun helps you. I love it helps heal me. I love it during the day. I love it during the day. It's healing. Yes. Like I think the day, the not seeing as much sun brings on seasonal depression.
Starting point is 00:33:52 I can see that. Not that I, not that like when I lived in Missouri, I was depressed because of that, but I definitely would get like, ah, that's kind of sad. Like it's so dark and gloomy and cloudy. But you have to admit, it's kind of a vibe when you're making dinner
Starting point is 00:34:04 and it's like getting dark and gloomy and cloudy. But you have to admit, it's kind of a vibe when you're making dinner and it's like getting dark and you turn on your lamps and you're like, you got your like low light and like it's like, well, we're staying in because why would we go out? It's already dark. You can still do that though when there's more sunlight. Once it's nighttime, you can still have your cozy vibe. I'm just saying I don't hate it as much as some people do, but I can understand, especially when we had little babies, like we have a one-year-old now, it would have been, it would have really thrown us off way more
Starting point is 00:34:26 if he was like a tiny baby and had a time change like that. Messed up everyone's nap schedules and everything. What is it? Wasn't there gonna be a law to get rid? No. What's the legal process with all of that? It says in 2023, 29 states were considering laws to make changes to daylight savings time,
Starting point is 00:34:44 but there hasn't been much movement on the national level. Some think ending daylight savings would improve mental health, reduce crime, and conserve energy. I actually do think getting rid of daylight savings would improve mental health. I really do. Lawmakers have brought up the conversation of permanently ending daylight savings time in recent years. I'm all for that.
Starting point is 00:35:01 Okay, wait, why did we have it originally? Wasn't it because of farming? Farming, farming, yeah. Aren't, wasn't it? Because of farming. Farming, yeah. Aren't we still farming though? But it just looks a lot different, it's mostly machines. Yes, well I think it had to do with just having light to get work done in the day.
Starting point is 00:35:14 And so, yeah, we would just adjust the time. But I mean, now there's so many ways, like we all got, we got flashlights on our phones, okay? Farmers. Well then how would that conserve energy? See, I know nothing about farming. My great grandpa was a farmer and I know nothing about farming.
Starting point is 00:35:28 But yeah, I don't know. I guess I just know it's for farmers. And I think there's a lot, like we have all this machinery now. There's probably like an AI robot that farms your field for you now, okay? That's probably the future. We have like self-driving cars here in Arizona
Starting point is 00:35:42 all the time when I'm like at the airport or downtown. Actually, yeah. Did you see that Waymo car at the airport yesterday? Yes. It dropped somebody off and then someone got in it and they just took off. Yes. So we're in the era- Wait, I don't know what type of people are using that on the regular though.
Starting point is 00:35:58 That's like my point though is like we literally have self-driving cars today. We don't need daylight savings. Okay, but also, can I make a point that's gonna make me also sound like an old person? Okay. We had an Uber, and we had a long conversation with her the whole way home, and now, like, those people, like, is it just gonna make people more and more isolated? Like we don't, like, they don't have to even talk to the person picking, the stranger picking them up.
Starting point is 00:36:23 I think that as we automate more things that used to require a human element and actually my parents had an excellent conversation with their Uber driver too. I think we're just gonna keep making entertainment better for humans. Like I think the entertainment industry is growing as we're able to automate and have robots do more of the jobs that humans used to do. You cannot replace in-person conversations. That's true, exactly. And also talking with people that you wouldn't normally
Starting point is 00:36:49 seek out on your own. That's true. There's so much to be gained from that. I think that's really good. I love all that stuff. I'm just saying, I don't think it's a bad thing that robots and AI is starting to quote unquote take people's jobs,
Starting point is 00:37:00 because I think we're gonna create new jobs for those people. Does that make sense? You're kind of missing my point though. It's eliminating more human conversation, human interaction. True. I get what you're saying. I'm not saying AI should stop replacing job. I'm not saying that. I don't really know. Honestly, I'm not. Well, you know what the data is showing now is that people have fewer friends today than they used to, you know, 10 years ago, 20 years ago, which is weird because we're so much more connected today than ever.
Starting point is 00:37:30 I think we're artificially connected. Like I can message someone who's over in Dubai right now instantaneously, we could hop on FaceTime. Like we're so connected, but we're not. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a good thing, but I think that it also takes a lot of... You also have to put in the same amount of work, if not more, for in-person relationships. Well, maybe what we'll start to see though is more in-person events, more in-person activities, because I think we're realizing, yeah, all this automation, all this social media connectivity, it's great
Starting point is 00:38:06 in some aspects, but we have the highest, you know, suicide rates ever. We have all these mental health issues. And part of that is just because people were going underdiagnosed in the past, but I think social media is a big part of that. And I think we're going to see a big push. Hopefully, I hope so, because I think it'll be better for humans, but just more in person gatherings, events, things where people are actually having real relationships in person, because that, I think, is something that's irreplaceable for humanity. We need that.
Starting point is 00:38:35 I love people. Yeah, we need that. I think that you could have really, I mean, I love, you know, I was talking to everybody when we were in Disney, like in lines, like Like it's just really beautiful that we can just like talk to people for a little bit of time, never see them again. Yes. And I'm like spraying them like I asked the parents, of course, but like we're with other toddlers in Disney. We have we also got one of those like spritzer fans.
Starting point is 00:38:57 I had a whole army of toddlers around me just like spraying them all. It was so fun. I didn't know them. I didn't know their parents. That's actually a hot take I have. So I know like in New York, people will just like walk past you on the street and never talk to you, because it's like, I'll never see this person
Starting point is 00:39:10 ever again in my life. So I would've given them the time of day. Well, they're also around people constantly. True, yes, I get that. But like, for me, I used to fly on an airplane, you know, twice a year. And so whenever I was on an airplane, I was so excited to talk to the person next to me,
Starting point is 00:39:22 because it was just someone that'd be from a different state, have a different way of life than me. I was so interested and invested in learning about them and just having a genuine conversation with them. But now that we fly like once or twice a month, I don't do that as much anymore. I'll get on the airplane. If we're without our kids, I'll get to just read my book or listen to a podcast. But at the same time, like being at Disney, I happened to have some really good conversations with people in line while we were waiting, you know, 60 minutes to ride
Starting point is 00:39:49 Rise of the Resistance and, you know, just like being around different people, which there were times where in line I was responding to emails and messages and I didn't talk to anybody at all. But there were also times where I talked to people and the conversations were really fun. Like it was, it was cool meeting someone that you would have never met unless you were in that, in that place right then and there was cool meeting someone that you would have never met unless you were in that place right then and there. And I knew that we would never see them again, right? Like I knew like, hey,
Starting point is 00:40:11 this is someone that I'm forming relationships with. I'm forming- Yeah, like that family from the UK. Yes, like- They were so fun to talk to. Let's talk about them because we made this really sweet relationship with this family from the UK.
Starting point is 00:40:22 And it was so, like it was wholesome because we're like, what about tea in the UK? And they're like, well, what about in America, all the sugar? Like, it was just so fun, like, just like comparing lifestyles and like, what high schools look like there. Like they're wearing uniforms and they have to have like,
Starting point is 00:40:37 there's black socks only, like in America, I'm like, I'm pretty sure you can wear your PJs to school now and like chew gum and use your cell phone. And they're like, oh, absolutely not. Like. And they were so sweet're like, oh, absolutely not. And they were so sweet and so, I loved their accents. Their accents were so cool. Like, you gotta have a Sunday dinner.
Starting point is 00:40:50 Yes. It was so fun. And they were from... Norfolk? No, no, no, no. What's the name of the Yorkshire? Yorkshire. Yes.
Starting point is 00:40:58 They were from Yorkshire because we were talking about Yorkshire puddings. Because our friends made us Yorkshire puddings one time and I was like, you guys eat those all the time. And they're like, oh yeah, have the oil really hot. Like they had their opinions, it was so fun. But I knew that we would never see them ever again. And I enjoyed every second that we had with those people. I had a great interaction at the Lion King show with the family sitting next to us from Brazil.
Starting point is 00:41:20 They loved Augie and Augie loved them. And it was just such a beautiful, I don't know, it was so sweet. Kids also force you to interact with people more and I've seen people talk about that. They're like, parents of a two-year-old that are introverted parents of a two-year-old, how are you doing right now?
Starting point is 00:41:36 Because your two-year-old, kids are so uninhibited. They just wanna, your friend's playing peek-a-boo with the people behind us and he said, hi guys, to the people behind us. And like he said, hi guys, like to the people behind him, like they're, they talk to anybody and they kind of force his interactions with like for the parents with other people. And so that's like a really cool thing. It's like our kids have also like helped us talk to other people in a way, you know? Exactly.
Starting point is 00:42:02 Cause part of me started to think that maybe it's wasted time. If you're making a relationship or making a friend that's like really, really short lived and it's just a little blip in your existence on this planet, it's like, why not take that time and conserve it for relationships that can be long term and you can have this like same friend. You're so logical about things.
Starting point is 00:42:21 But there is a lot of importance because I am someone that I love meeting new people. So I tend to like meet a lot of new people and like have a lot of friends, but like less really, really deep, close, long-term friends. Because it's just like fun to meet new people. But there's a lot of value in having an hour long conversation with someone that you'll never see ever again in your life. Like that, even though we're not going to, you know, have Sunday dinner with that
Starting point is 00:42:47 family every week that we've met from Yorkshire. I am so glad that we were able to learn from them and them from us. And it made me happy, you know, it was a good time. Are you excited about the new wicked movie coming out? Actually, yes. Did you hear what happened with the Mattel dolls? Oh my gosh. I just this literally was just brought to my attention. Mattel apologizes for link to are we gonna say this? You want to just say corn? I've seen people say corn. Yeah, link to corn. Link to corn site on wicked movie doll boxes.
Starting point is 00:43:26 doll boxes. Wait, they linked a corn site on the doll boxes. Yes, apparently. I don't, I, please, I could, I'm just hearing about this, but they put on the box www.wicked.com. It's supposed to be wickedthemovie.com. No. But wicked.com is apparently cornography. Everyone's gonna go search this now. I did. Oh, you did? First time ever. You went to, you went to a corn site? Well, here's what it brings up. It does say you have to be like 18 plus and you have to like You have to like What am I saying? Like verify your age? I'm on it right now. Oh my god. I'm not seeing anything But you have to like say that I haven't done anything
Starting point is 00:44:03 But it says access to this page is restricted to adults 18 plus so I I'm assuming that's always been on that site but say for instance, it wasn't and all these kids get these dolls and like I Hope that there's not a kid that just like wanted to find Yeah, do you see that with oh? It says Yeah, do you see that? Oh, it says www.wicked.com. Wow. So when I first heard this, I was like,
Starting point is 00:44:27 how could this be an accident, Mattel? You're doing this on purpose. And I like, my brain was thinking of all these like conspiracy thoughts. Yeah. And I was like, you know what? That makes it more understandable, but also still like, I'm glad they apologized
Starting point is 00:44:38 because that's a really, really bad mistake to make. Okay, can I just say this right now? People have all these conspiracies about, oh, Mattel. It's on the shelves. Like so many. Yeah. Well, okay. I'm sure people are like, Mattel probably did this because they wanted to get more media attention. Is that what they're saying? I'm sure people say this for any time there's ever a controversy happening. I don't think most people go into something wanting. No, exactly. There's so many conspiracies nowadays. I'm like. Like even, and I know this because I know this from experience.
Starting point is 00:45:05 People have said that we have rage baited or something to get attention. Don't even say that word. But that is just so not true. I never wanted any part of that. I actually try to avoid that like the play. Exactly. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:45:19 So I'm sure some poor person lost their job over this whole wicked.com thing because they made a mistake. To be fair, they probably got their lost their job over this whole wicked.com thing because I mean they made a mistake. To be fair they probably should have lost their job. Okay true. I feel sorry for them but like that is not doing your checks. That's not dotting your t's and. People make mistakes though like we're human.
Starting point is 00:45:37 Dotting your t's, dotting your i's and crossing your t's. Yeah we're human. It says Mattel was made aware of a misprint on the packaging of the Mattel Wicked collection dolls primarily sold in the US which intended to direct customers to the official WickedMovie.com. Sorry, not Wicked Movie. It's literally WickedMovie.com landing page. We deeply regret this unfortunate error and are taking immediate action to remedy this, the toy company said in a statement.
Starting point is 00:46:00 Parents are advised that the misprinted incorrect website is not appropriate for children. Consumers who already have the product are advised to discard the product packaging or obscure the link and may contact Mattel customer service for further information," the company added. I mean, here's the thing. Most of the time with your kids' toys, they're not looking at the box,
Starting point is 00:46:18 they're just ripping the doll out and moving on. So I feel like the damages done are probably very minor, but it's just like wow Here's the thing wicked calm could have been anything and it would have been way less damaging but the fact that it actually is that type of website is Such a crazy it's it's giving me the same energy as when they had those Christmas Miley Cyrus dolls that said later We'll have some blinkin pie and it really sounded like the F word instead of pumpkin pie.
Starting point is 00:46:47 It sounded like effing pie. And that was like a whole controversy. It's like, man, these things keep happening. Yeah, I thought that was funny. But I'm so excited to see the movie. As like theater kids at heart, I cannot wait. It's coming out in November. Yeah, last time we
Starting point is 00:47:05 saw that musical we both cried. Yes we did because it's just so nostalgic. Yeah it's a good one. I mean I gotta get off of wicked.com. It's very good. I'm getting off of wicked.com. I can't believe you searched wicked.com on. I always end up like searching things. I'm like you know what it's a good thing no one looks through my search history because this could tell a whole different story. It's so, it's so, it's like, especially when I read books that are like romance books, sometimes I'm like, I don't actually think
Starting point is 00:47:36 I know what that is. And then my eyes are opened. I did that. I read Butcher and Blackbird, which is like, I did not know that it was what it was. It was extremely like ironic fiction book. And I was like, I did not know that it was what it was. It was extremely like, ironic fiction book. And I was like, I don't even know what that is. And I Googled it and I was like, I better not pull up my Google app in public
Starting point is 00:47:54 without fixing that situation because that could be a problem. This episode is sponsored by Chime. I feel like we have spoken on previous episodes how like our kids don't favor one of us over the other.
Starting point is 00:49:43 Yeah. That has since changed in recent weeks, honestly, I feel like maybe a month max. But now Griffin, it's only mama. How do you feel about that? You know, I think he's going through a mama phase and I think that's totally okay. Like I would be lying if whenever he won't let me pick him
Starting point is 00:50:04 up and only wants you to pick him up if it didn't hurt a little bit but at the same time he's just a kid and kids all want their mama at that age that's just what happens. I personally love it. And there's an which is awesome that's awesome for you. I'm obsessed with it. No and I think and there will be a time where he wants me a lot and then I'm gonna feel bad for you because he. No that's never gonna happen. Oh, okay. All right. No, I'm just kidding griffin I feel like he doesn't do it if i'm not around like if i'm not in the same room as him He doesn't do it. Does he? If you're gone, it doesn't happen. Okay. Yeah, if you're gone, it doesn't happen at all
Starting point is 00:50:39 But yeah with you around there, it's it's like even the silliest thing like yeah to give him his milk He's like even the silliest thing, like to give him his milk. He's like, no mama, no mama. Like he wants me to do it. But what's funny is that he's been telling people, like he says, I want mama, Augie want dada. Like, and I think Augie does kind of have like, not like in the same way Griffin does, because he can't obviously vocalize as well as Griffin,
Starting point is 00:51:04 but I think he does kind of prefer you a little bit. Augie does, don't you think? Yeah, no, Augie likes being around guys. Like he always gravitates towards me and his uncles. My brother, his grandpas. Yeah, and he just, there's something about, I don't know what it is with him, but yeah, he likes being around guys.
Starting point is 00:51:22 Yeah. He's just a bro. Yeah. And he loves, he's a huge fan of ball. That's his favorite word. He'll go ball ball ball. Every time every time there's anything that looks remotely close to a ball he just points at it and says ball. Ball. That's like his main word. Yeah. He like says like two words and it's ball and like mama. It's really cute. Um but yeah I think that I can see where some parents are like, oh, it's kind of a burden that my kid only wants me.
Starting point is 00:51:49 For me, right now, I'm just eating it up. I kind of like love it because I know it's going to be such a short phase. And I'm just like, I just want to soak this up where like my hug is like the best thing in the world to him. And like me kissing his boo-boos makes him feel better. Like I'm going to just eat all that up while it lasts because I know that it's such a short phase. Did you know that America's Sweethearts Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders renewed for a season two? I will be watching. You were a big fan of that show. I was I don't really watch a ton of shows. Wait I did watch okay so I
Starting point is 00:52:21 did watch a couple shows recently but okay I don't watch a lot of shows so watching the Dallas Cowboys cheerleader show, I really loved as the former, a former dancer. Yeah. Thought it was so fun. As a girls girl, loved it. I just thought it was so, and it was so wholesome too. Yeah. Obviously I'm, I love Reese and getting to meet her was like so cool.
Starting point is 00:52:40 And so, yeah, I don't know how you could watch that show and not fall in love with that girl, but I'm excited for I'm assuming she'll be on it. We have to invite Reese back on the show to talk about season two which is also crazy too to think that it probably won't come out for a while like we're we're legitimate fans of the show and then here we are somehow getting to talk to these people in person like what that's crazy so yeah that's a really cool that's like probably the best perk of all this. But I'm excited to see that.
Starting point is 00:53:09 It's probably not coming out until like next summer, right? Yeah, that is what this is saying. Apparently it's gonna come out in 2025. That's tough, because it's not something you can really rush because they have their season once a year, you know, that they do the tryouts and everything. They could maybe break it up more. Yeah, so I'm sure filming all took place
Starting point is 00:53:26 over the summer is my guess. And then they're probably just going through editing all of that. That must be a lot. Whoever's editing this show, like think about how much footage they have for a documentary. You record a lot, you know?
Starting point is 00:53:39 It's not some easy task to piece together a story out of all this unscripted content because it's not like they're going in with, you know, I guess they probably do go in with an idea of what they want the episode to be, but it's still a ton of footage I'm sure they're dealing with. Oh yeah, because I think they probably follow like so many more girls and that they like, they only featured like three or four, you know, in depth. And it looks like I think think, secret wives of, secret lives of Mormon wives.
Starting point is 00:54:07 I'm pretty sure they're doing a season two of that as well. I think they've talked about that. Which I think is old news at this point. But. Well, wasn't there only like, there weren't that many episodes. They were kind of short too. Yeah, our neighbors were obsessed with that show.
Starting point is 00:54:22 They were the ones that were trying to get us to watch it. We watched the episode, I think we watched the first episode, but we haven obsessed with that show. They were the ones that were trying to get us to watch it. We watched the episode, I think we watched the first episode, but we haven't finished the show. We watched like one or two episodes. I watched, Nobody Wants This with Kristen Bell. Yes. And I don't really watch shows without you that much,
Starting point is 00:54:38 but I don't know. I thought that was like, I didn't like really know what to think about it at first, but I love Kristen Bell, and I just think that she's so charming, and she's funny and just seems pretty down to earth. Really liked it, and I honestly, at first I was like, why is this the love interest?
Starting point is 00:54:56 And then you just start to think, find his character more and more charming. You're like, wait, he is charming too. So yeah, wait, is he up for Sexiest Man? I don't know't know i just know we'll talk about sexiest man alive here in a second you're so eager to talk about sexy men um no i thought the show was i don't know if you knew this you're a married woman by the way i would vote for you before anybody else thank you so much um but he's like a rabbi in the show and so it's kind of interesting like the dynamics of like her entering into this culture and Like her podcast the whole show. Yeah, I thought that was funny the whole show podcast
Starting point is 00:55:34 yeah, it's like a call her daddy type of podcast and She wants to date this rabbi but then there's also some like religious things get that get in the way of relationship, right? Because if he wants to be a sex shop to get this like big sex toy. Wait, is this not appropriate for our kind of? I'm pretty sure it's like all like adults watching this. Okay. Yeah. So don't make it a short, but they go to like this sex shop to get this like crazy sex toy for her like podcast. I think it's like a sponsor of their show and they like need the product and it's called like something crazy, like the excavator or something.
Starting point is 00:56:14 I don't know. And then he meets a member of his congregation that is at the sex shop. She's like, this is the end. Like I'll never be head rabbi. Like he's like all worried about his career as a rabbi. And then it finds out that the woman that the member of their congregation is with is not his wife, and so that he cannot he's not going to expose the rabbi.
Starting point is 00:56:36 I'm so confused. Who's not with their wife? I'm sorry. The member of their congregation that the rabbi sees at the sex shop. He's with a woman that's not his wife. Oh, okay. Which insinuates infidelity. Got it. Which means that he's not going to report the rabbi being at the sex shop. So basically what you're saying is they went to the sex shop, the rabbi got spotted by a member of their congregation, and then the rabbi freaked out because he was like, oh I'm screwed,
Starting point is 00:57:02 my career as a rabbi is done, but the person's going to keep their mouth shut because they were with someone that wasn't their spouse. And they ended up making a really big donation to the church. And they're like, how did you get him to make such a donation? Like whatever you're doing, keep it up. And it was like basically like hush money. That's hilarious. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:23 That was funny. Well, you said that Dax Shepard apparently mentioned that he's never been- I know, there's some article that said she's never kissed me like that. He seems like a pretty funny guy, but yeah, he said that he's never been kissed the way that she kissed the rabbi on the show. Yeah, it was. Here's the thing, it was all the like, sex stuff was like closed door scenes, but their kissing was passionate. Okay, when it comes to sex toys, because you brought it up, not me, it's this raunchy adult
Starting point is 00:57:52 show you've been watching, babe. There was no nudity. There was conversation. I think someone on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives was told they were going to get paid a lot to do an endorsement for a a sex toy would you ever would you ever do that? I mean I don't know it's not that I think they're wrong yeah it's that I would feel I feel like when we have been like even at Disney meeting some of the people that have like followed me on Instagram I'm like man I don't know if I would think it was appropriate on my page.
Starting point is 00:58:29 Yeah, that's true. Like I feel like this podcast is like an older, like it's more people like our age. Yeah. And sometimes I feel like the platforms like Instagram and TikTok are so big, like and broad and they get pushed to random people. Like, I don't know. Yeah. I'm not judging anyone for the decisions they make. are so big and broad and they get pushed to random people. I don't know. I'm not judging anyone for the decisions they make
Starting point is 00:58:48 and I don't think that sex toys are bad. I just don't know that it would have a place on my page. Yeah, no, I think sex toys are great. I think that's a great thing for people, especially in a committed relationship. Like you wanna get things spicy, go for it. I think the messaging behind it, I feel like I wouldn't be able to express
Starting point is 00:59:08 in like a static image on Instagram, like the messaging behind what I would want to portray. And also I think there's certain things that like, especially as a mom, it's like maybe I wouldn't make that decision just for the sake of my kids, like I don't know. But I don't know, that's a whole can of worms too. We have to go down.
Starting point is 00:59:26 So I'm not judging anyone's decisions that they make. I just don't know if you're gonna see a selfie of me and a dildo on my page. Also, are we allowed to say dildo? I don't even know. I don't even know. Maybe we're not, who knows? Tom Holland. Of Phildo.
Starting point is 00:59:41 To be. Corn and Phildo. Why are you saying, oh my gosh, Phildo? We're saying corn and Phil Doe. Why are you saying, oh my gosh, Phil Doe? We're saying corn and Phil Doe as substitute words. Is that short for something? I don't know. Phil Doe sounds kind of like Filo, which I'm pretty sure is like a streaming service that you can get to watch like TV on the internet.
Starting point is 01:00:03 Anyway, Tom Holland and Zendaya spotted in Boston. Apparently they were taking a walk with their dogs. No, I don't want to talk about this. It makes me sad. Okay, this is where I want to have empathy for these people. They can't even freaking walk their dog without it being a news headline, dude. No, I respect them both, the two of them so, so much.
Starting point is 01:00:21 They just want to have a normal life, but they're just incredibly talented. Yes. And so it's just like, let them live, let them be. They don't want to, they don't want all this. Yes. And actually more on that. I think people get these ideas of, oh, celebrities are so like, they, they just care about the money and the fame and all this. I think a lot of these people legit just like to do their art. They're passionate at their art. Like everyone has a creative outlet. Everyone has something they enjoy, a hobby, a thing. Everyone has their thing and for these
Starting point is 01:00:49 people a lot of them it's it's getting to act. It's getting to sing, whatever it is and they just happen to be famous and then they're they're you know people are making it worse. You're talking about them right now. I know and I'm just saying I want to humanize these people. Let's humanize these these celebrities like Tom and Zendaya and recognize like, let's just let them walk their dog in peace. Like they clearly want privacy. Just give it to them. Okay.
Starting point is 01:01:12 And actually I do want to say this. This is a thank you moment to people that have seen us in public with our kids. We are like not even a percent of as known. We're not making comparisons. Yeah. I don't want to make a comparison between us and Zendaya and Tom, because they are like at a so different level of fame. And whole different category.
Starting point is 01:01:30 Whole different category than us. But you know, people know who we are, you know, a little bit like at Disney, we got to meet a lot of people, which is really cool. But what I really respected was, I noticed a huge difference of people that would come up to us when we were with our kids and then when we were without our kids. And I really appreciated that. Like
Starting point is 01:01:50 I never want someone to think they can't come up and say hi because I always want to be like so, I'm so thankful for what we have and I genuinely do. I love meeting the people that have seen our videos online before. But I was, it made me feel very loved that people came up to us less when we were with our kids because they didn't want to interrupt our time as a family. It's not that it bothers me when they came up, but yeah, I was like, man, they really like, yeah, it felt very respectful. Yes. It felt like you guys just have respect for us and people in general.
Starting point is 01:02:22 And our family, like our children. Yeah. And like, honestly want the same things in general. And our family, like our children. Yeah. And like honestly want the same things in general for our kids that we want for our kids. Which is a normal life. If people want to say hi when our kids are there, it's fine. Like I, you know, love meeting you and that's been awesome. But it was cool being like, whoa, I, when we're at, because we went to the park one
Starting point is 01:02:41 day without our kids and we did Universal one day without our kids Well, we just went half days like yeah if they were like in the morning and through their nap And then we would come in the evening or the opposite like we would come back in the evening without them We're just like a for a few days because we traveled with family and so thank goodness like my mom was there Abby's mom was there and so it was really nice to get to go to the park without talking about this kind of arrangement because this is So it was really nice to get to go to the park without our kids. Gosh, I hate talking about this kind of arrangement because this is... Because people could like misconstrue things and talk BS, whatever.
Starting point is 01:03:11 Those people are butt heads and they can go, they can go think about how... Yeah, I wish the best for those people, okay? Whatever. But let me just say this... I just feel like I'm panicking. Just make sure you say like, they were, like, people were always with their children. Oh my gosh. Yeah, okay, anyway, I totally see where you're coming from.
Starting point is 01:03:29 Trusted loved ones were always with their kids, okay. Yes, okay, cool. But all I'm saying is that was cool, that people seemed to be very respectful of us. And all I'm saying is, with these hyper, super crazy famous people like Tom and Zendaya, I hope we can all be more respectful of them, you know?
Starting point is 01:03:48 And not like, oh, what's the, what's the tea on them walking their dog? It's like they were just walking their effing dog. You know? I don't think people were like trying to like for drama there, but I think like, well, they do people, they do. Oh, really? People always, I don't know what's going on. People put connections between things that have like no correlation at all. Oh I know. All the time. Yeah maybe it's just like way more simple and normal than it was. Really? No I. Yeah. So anyway. That's sweet I mean I respect them so much I don't even want to like. Yeah. Talk about. I never want this to feel like a gossip thing.
Starting point is 01:04:25 Yes. I know how sickening it can feel to have people talk about you in a negative way. Yeah. They don't even know you. They don't even understand the situation. There's so much more going on. People are so much more.
Starting point is 01:04:37 There's so much more to people than what meets the eye, obviously. And so I never want this to feel like that. So you guys can keep us accountable for that too. Like, yeah, this's not a gossip channel Yeah, I just want to assume the best in everyone and even like talking about a court case like we talked a little bit about the men Menendez brothers. Yes, I do want to say something about that. Okay. What did you want to say? Because I did follow up and watch the documentary
Starting point is 01:04:56 Okay, I have I will say I have like 10 more minutes left that I want to finish tonight but um, I did watch the actual documentary that's like but I did watch the actual documentary that's like factual with actual court case recordings and it made me feel vastly different than the Monsters TV series that Netflix created. So, yeah. How did it make you feel differently? If you watched Monsters, I think that it was a really entertaining show. I would also encourage you to follow up with the documentary because these are real people that are alive and that are serving sentences for what happened that night. And I think there's a lot that the documentary sensationalized that I don't think is founded.
Starting point is 01:05:45 I think what people forget, because it's so easy just to turn someone into a character and look at them from a very simple lens, I think people forget there's nuance in all these situations. Like these two kids, they're adults now, but at the time they were basically- No, they were adults. I guess they were technically adults, but they were 18 and 21. So basically kids murdered their parents and a simple explanation for that is,
Starting point is 01:06:13 oh, these people wanted their parents' money and murdered them for their money. End of story, put them in prison for life. And see, here's the other thing too that's hard. I watched that documentary and I was like, man, it's so unfortunate that we don't have the parents to talk to you, obviously, about the situation. So, yeah, it was, I would encourage you to watch it if you watched Monsters because I just think, just for justice for Eric and Lyle, to have the factual, a more factual presentation where they're actually speaking now, they have recordings of them in prison talking. We need to fill people in by the way who have no idea what we're talking about.
Starting point is 01:06:46 Oh yeah, it's about the Menendez Brothers case. It's two, it was back in the 90s. They shot and killed their parents in their home. Yeah. And it's a whole court case that happened. Yeah, I don't know. Yeah. I feel like a lot of people are talking about it. Brothers murdered their parents. Their parents were very, very rich. They spent a bunch of money after their parents were dead.
Starting point is 01:07:05 So people assumed that they did it for the money. It also happened right after O.J. Simpson, or right around when O.J. Simpson. No, what's crazy is that the mistrial happened before, even the mistrial happened before O.J.'s thing. Yeah, so there's some speculation that basically their court case was affected, like the decision, the outcome of the second trial, because the first court case for these these two
Starting point is 01:07:30 individuals was a mistrial. So there's speculation that whatever happened... Sorry, there's speculation that their court case was influenced by the OJ decision, because it looks really bad for the state of California to not convict OJ when there's so much evidence against OJ. There was so much going on at the time in California, in their, and especially LA. But I will say it's really unfortunate because the things that influenced Eric and Lyle's decision
Starting point is 01:08:02 in choice to kill their parents, it was unfortunate timing. I think that it fell on ears that were not sympathetic enough and didn't know enough about that type of abuse on your psyche. But you actually watched the trial, right? In the documentary that you just saw. You watched the trial, you hear these boys talk about
Starting point is 01:08:26 how they were abused by their father. I think people, and you know what's crazy, Matt? They showed clips of like, SNL making skits about them, and they're like, like, fake crying on the stand. And like, they were a laughing stock. They made a joke of these kids. And, I mean, all the media, all the late night shows were like, oh I don't believe them.
Starting point is 01:08:50 They were like being so flippant about what they're saying. Like their house was a living nightmare, a living hell. And so I don't think, I would like to believe that that would not be how it was received in 2024. I think people would be a lot more careful about, oh, like that, and I think especially because they were wealthy and especially because they were men,
Starting point is 01:09:18 and especially because they were white, like it was just so many things that just like made them, they're like, they don't wanna make them a victim of anything. And I think it was just so many things that just like yeah made them they're like they they don't want to make them a victim of anything yeah and I think it was just really sad yeah so yeah I would just say you know it's maybe not as you know entertaining blockbuster II but it was well done the documentary and I think that it would just the fact that they're still in prison they're real people like I don't know I'd encourage you to watch it yeah and this is the Netflix documentary that came out I think it's called the Eric and Lyle, or it's called the Menendez story or something
Starting point is 01:09:47 like that. And this is the actual individuals themselves telling their story from their mouths. It's not you watching some artistic representation of the events. Oh yeah, you hear them talking, you see their court cases, you see the perspective of the family members of Kitty. Yeah. them talking you see their court cases you see the perspective of the family members of Kitty and I think some of the father's family members as well you see the state prosecutor and the district attorney you see like all those things and like like it it's a I think it's well-rounded it seems to be well-rounded
Starting point is 01:10:22 okay and also the the prosecutor the state prosecutor is saying that she searched to find character witnesses, which is basically people that would go take the stand and say flattering things about the victims, the parents. The parents that were murdered, yeah. Couldn't find one person to say good things about their character. So that says something to me. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:10:43 Even their family members were like, I mean, obviously they love them and cared about them, but I think that they, I don't know, weren't willing to take the stand in that way. That says a lot. On a more lighthearted note, we have people's sexiest man alive that's about to be announced. Okay, by the time you're listening to this, the whole decision, I think, will already be out there. You want me to decide right now? But yeah, let's have Abby decide who she thinks is the sexiest man alive. All right. We have a list right here. Here's the people that have been nominated. I'm going to have to, I literally take out my phone because I know I'm going to have to Google them because I don't know anything about. So this will be announced
Starting point is 01:11:22 exclusively on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. In the lead up to this announcement, people came out with the results of a reader's choice poll. We have sexiest handyman, Chip Gaines. What do you think about Chip, babe? Do you think Chip's a pretty good looking dude? Okay, uh, yeah. What are you doing? What are you doing right now?
Starting point is 01:11:39 I'm looking at pictures of Chip Gaines. I think, you know... Here, I'm going to say all these people's names and then you tell me who you think is the sexiest of all the guys. Are think, you know. Here, I'm gonna say all these people's names and then you tell me who you think is the sexiest of all the guys. Are we? Okay, wait, wait, wait. What are we judging sexy on? Cause it's like really cool that he is like handy.
Starting point is 01:11:53 We're just doing looks? Yes. Okay, keep going. You wanna look at like their job qualifications and all these other things? There's a lot more things that can make a man sexy, Matt. Oh gosh. Okay. We're just talking about looks, okay? So we got Chip Gaines. We have sexiest long married star, Tim McGraw.
Starting point is 01:12:09 Gen-ex-iest? Gen-sexiest? Shemar Moore? I probably just botched the crap out of that name. Wait, wait, wait. S-H-E-M-A-R. Shemar? Shemar? Wait, Gen? What? You said Gen. These are the categories. Jen X.
Starting point is 01:12:27 So like Jen sexiest. So it's like S E with a capital X I E S T. Jen's. Do you get what I'm saying? Jen X. So someone that's from Jen X? Yes. What's his name?
Starting point is 01:12:37 I just said it. Shamar Moore. S H E M A R. I probably completely, I'm, I feel like an idiot right now. I probably screwed that up. Shamar Moore. Oh yeah. Is he a good looking dude? Let me see. Let me see Shemar.
Starting point is 01:12:47 Wow! That's a good-looking guy. Wait, he's Gen X. Are we Gen X? No, we're Gen Z. So he's a little older. Yes. Oh, he's 54. Oh my gosh. Wow. He looks really good for a 50-yard 54. Wow! He's got some abs. This might be an old photo, but... Sexiest summer action star. Oh, and he's aging some abs. This might be an old photo, but. Sexiest summer action star. Oh, and he's aging well as well. Wow, Shamar. I really hope, am I saying his name wrong?
Starting point is 01:13:14 That's embarrassing. Sexiest summer action star, Glenn Powell. Sexiest Fierro? Jonathan Bailey. Sexiest talk show host. Wait, Jonathan Bailey, wait. This is, I think your mom would agree with this one. Sexiest talk show host. Wait, Jonathan Bailey, wait. This is, I think your mom would agree with this one. Sexiest talk show host, Mark Consuelos,
Starting point is 01:13:29 because your mom's big into like Kelly and- Oh, Mark Consuelos, yeah. Sexiest dog dad, Max Greenfield. Dog dad? I don't, yeah. Max Greenfield? Why do I not know who half these people are? That's a big problem.
Starting point is 01:13:39 Oh, wait, he's the guy from New Girl. Oh, that dude, he seems like a really nice guy. That's hilarious. He seems like a really nice guy. That's hilarious. He seems like a really happy, just genuine person. I like him. Makes brat look sexiest. I don't get what these categories are. Joe Jonas.
Starting point is 01:13:53 Joe Jonas is a good looking dude. Sexiest tattoos, Jeremy Allen White, and sexiest new heartthrob, Jerrick LRD. I don't know who that is. This is a problem, babe. I don't know who any of these people are. Alordy, Jacob Alordy of these people are. Alordy? Jacob Alordy?
Starting point is 01:14:06 Jacob, is it Alordy or L or D? Yes! He's an actor. I've literally never seen this guy until now. Wait, so they're only choosing one? I've heard of the kissing booth. No, he's been in a ton of things. Okay.
Starting point is 01:14:19 So, wait, he's 6'5". And he's Australian. Do you think it's sexier when men are tall? Yes. But did you know that taller people die earlier? So then you're basically marrying someone that's gonna die. So you're saying short kings are an investment? Short kings are a good investment, yes, because you know they're gonna live longer.
Starting point is 01:14:35 It's something to do with your heart. Because I'm 6'2", and I'm probably gonna die before you, because you're a foot shorter than me. Matt, please don't talk about that. But I'm just saying, people really should reconsider this. I was actually just thinking about that recently. I told my mom that if I'm in my 80s and single, I probably would remarry actually.
Starting point is 01:14:48 You make up a really good point though, babe, with the whole short king thing, because people need to reevaluate, why are we idolizing tall people when tall people are just gonna die earlier, right? Because this is just your logical side, just doing things. Yeah, I think we need to have- Here's the thing, I'm saying this
Starting point is 01:15:03 as I'm someone that's married to some, I didn't marry you for your height. It's not about... it's not about any of those things. Okay, wait. So what are we saying? They're only... people's only going to choose one person? Um, I guess how this works is people is selecting the winner. So we're supposed to vote? Should I vote right now? Oh, I guess... yeah, I guess we can vote. But the Late Show with Stephen Colbert is gonna be where it's announced. And because our podcast isn't live, it's probably out there by the time.
Starting point is 01:15:29 I should have looked at this article because it has pictures for everything. Yeah, there's a whole article on it. Wow. I mean, all these people that were nominated definitely won in their category already, so they should feel happy. Okay.
Starting point is 01:15:41 Well, speaking of sexy men. Yes? Did you know that Cameron Dallas led to my tears? You showed me. I was very, I was shocked to be honest. It's real guys. I did not expect for that to happen. It's real. And by the way, I- You're a mom. You've got two kids. But you know what? He slid into the DMs in a very classy way. I don't think it was actually him. You don't think it was him? No. You think it was somebody using Cameron Dallas's account? I'm sure he has someone that he's hired that's like trying to... I think it was a business move and I don't think it was him personally. What if he got hacked? What if his
Starting point is 01:16:14 account got hacked and then he DM'd all these women who have two children? Maybe it was a hack. What did he exactly say? You want to pull up the DM right now? Right here. Okay. Hey, are you monetized on Snap slash getting brand deals for it? And honestly, that was just him looking out for you, making sure that you're getting your bag on Snapchat because apparently Snapchat is paying. Cameron Dalles has no idea who I am. He DM'd you. That's not him. He either got hacked or it's someone from his team that's like trying to do some business move. Also, I follow his sister and she seems wonderful. Does she follow you?
Starting point is 01:16:46 So I feel like we're friends. I don't know if she follows me. Let's find out. How do you find if they follow you back? Is it Ciara Dallas? I love her. Just go to Ciara Dallas's Instagram page and see if she's following you back.
Starting point is 01:16:55 If you guys are mutuals. Oh my gosh, she does follow me. She only follows 133 people. That is an honor. That is very much an honor. I really like her. She seems just like such a... We could be friends.
Starting point is 01:17:07 No, I think, I think you're right though. I think somebody either messaged you from Cameron's account or maybe Cameron himself got asked by Snapchat to reach out to different creators who aren't posting on Snapchat. But the thing is we actually are posting on Snapchat. We've been posting for a little bit. We put like our TikToks up there, our Instagram. You didn't even know that. I didn't respond.
Starting point is 01:17:28 Should I respond to him right now? Respond to Cameron right now. Wait, so what should I say? Do you wanna invite him on our show? Oh. What if you DM, you could be like, yes, actually I am. Also would love to invite you to come chat with me and my husband on our podcast.
Starting point is 01:17:48 I don't know. He's never gonna respond to this. You don't think so? I'll try my best. Let's see. Everybody comment down below if you think he's gonna respond to Abby's DM. Wow, I am in my dams now.
Starting point is 01:17:57 I got some, I got some of this guy in here. What? Yeah, this guy's in there. A shirtless guy DM'd you? He says, yeah, he's wanting to make a workout plan for me. The thing is. How do I message Cameron back?
Starting point is 01:18:12 It's not, see we're on a first name basis now. I would just go to your DMs. Cameron Dallas. Yes. Message. What do I say? Hey, are you Montres on Snap slash getting brand news for it Hey, you could say actually I am. Thank you so much. I am Thank you
Starting point is 01:18:32 and then you could be like also, I think you and your sister are really cool and My husband and I would love to Uh invite you on to our show, the Unplanned Podcast. But then you might think it's him and his sister. Oh, okay. Well then maybe just invite Cameron. Either way, we, I don't.
Starting point is 01:18:50 Oh, do you want his sister to come too? Either way. I think that it sounds like you think she's really cool. So we can invite both of them. Well, I feel like I should ask her myself if we're gonna ask her. Okay, okay, then just invite Cameron. Also, say, hey, actually I am.
Starting point is 01:19:01 Thank you. Also, would, what should I say? My husband and I uh are big fans and would love to oh you really want to make sure I say that I'm married in this dm is that what I'm hearing exactly exactly we need to make it clear with this response that like you're not accept you know if there's any fishy business going on here I actually don't think he's married I saw a video of him holding a kid, but I think it's his nephew. Well, yes. Sierra has like three kids. That's
Starting point is 01:19:29 okay. That would make sense. Also, my husband and I are big fans and would love to have a conversation with you on our podcast. That's dope. Okay. Me and Cameron Dallas are officially DMing. Okay now I have something to bring up. Guess who slid into my DMs? I already know. Jason Derulo. Sexy. You probably think he's one of the sexiest men alive honestly. You're like you know what to do with the big fat boy. He's definitely been nominated before. Look it up. Oh yeah for sure. He's a good-looking guy and I fat book. He's definitely been nominated before, look it up. Oh yeah, for sure. He's a good looking guy And I think his his music's definitely like in your pump up playlist on Spotify. Oh, yeah It's the stuff that came out when we were like in high school. That is like
Starting point is 01:20:16 That really gets if i'm on a treadmill i'm like i need to listen to the old Jason Drulo stuff. The trumpets. Some of the music. Trumpets Trumpets actually like takes me back. Trumpets takes me back. I love that song. That's pretty, that's kind of cool to be able to say, that's like a flex to be like a celebrity slid into my DMs, you know? You had, wait what did he say? What did Jason Derulo say? Okay so I don't, again I think, I think that it's actually not him because he said, hello, Jason Derulo would love to repost this video on his main page. They reached out to me wanting to repost the video that we posted on YouTube of us finding out
Starting point is 01:20:52 that we're pregnant with an unplanned pregnancy and they wanted to put like their, his song. Oh, they're just asking for permission. Which is super nice. Yeah, I said they could repost it and like, I think they credited us and stuff. But I thought that was really respectful because people a lot will just like repost stuff
Starting point is 01:21:10 and not credit people. So that was cool that Jason's team reached out and asked if it was okay with us. But yeah, it wasn't like actually him because then he messaged me again from the Jason Derulo account and it says, hey, this is team Jason. The video is now on his YouTube channel.
Starting point is 01:21:29 Also, if you'd like to repost this video yourself on Instagram with Jason's new sound, make me happy. He would like comment and repost this story. Have you played like make me happy? I haven't. He would like and comment. Oh. We should go check it out.
Starting point is 01:21:40 That probably means someone else is doing his. Oh yeah. Well, I'm sure, I mean, like when when you're that famous there's probably somebody like running your your stuff so. Anywho. Wow look at us. Never would have thunk that Cameron Dallas would be sliding into my wife's DMs. I'm pretty sure I've watched their YouTube videos like when I was in like middle schools. He's not much older than us Dude, that guy that's kind of find an era like he defined a movie Really the Cameron Dallas movie. I really watch it called. I don't I think I did
Starting point is 01:22:15 Did you ever go to one of his like meet-and-greets because I feel like back in the day I wasn't a fan girl and Shawn Mendes and all those guys like did meet-and-greets and they had some sort of it's called expelled He made a movie. That's cool Yep, it has a 53% of Rotten Tomatoes. That's awesome. Wait Marcus Johns was in it. No way. Yeah, that's cool He was a big vine guy, right? Oh that makes sense. Yeah. Wow Wait, how old is Cameron Dallas? I want to say he's in his 20s still is he like 29 28 I'm 26. He's 30. Oh, okay
Starting point is 01:22:52 He's 30 if this is accurate crazy crazy Well, you better watch out babe. You better watch out. Well, I don't know by the way, that's totally he's not interested Yeah, like that. I just made that as a silly joke. It's not funny. Wrap this up.
