What started as a series of short mysteries for the curious mind with a short attention span, has evolved into enlightening conversations for the not-so-short attention span.   Whether it's a short mystery, a long conversation, or an audio book, The Way I Heard It is a veritable box of chocolates for the ears, because you never know what you're going to get.  

Well, hello there. I'm Mike Rowe and this is my podcast. It's called The Way I heard it. And I wish I could sum the whole thing up for you in just a sentence or two. But the truth is, the format has changed so much over the years. It's really difficult to think of it as anything other than a box of chocolates today. Because if you go through the library, you'll find episodes that are seven or eight minutes long and other episodes that are nearly two hours. We started as a kind of a kind of, you'll find episodes that are seven or eight minutes long and other episodes that are nearly two hours. We started as a kind of, homage to Paul Harvey's old radio program, the rest of the story. There are a lot of short mysteries in this collection where you can learn something you didn't know about somebody that you do. And that format evolved into a conversation about the stories themselves, where I'd invite experts on to tell me what I got right and what I got wrong, the way they heard it, in other words. And today, it's mostly a series of conversations with people who I think you should know. authors and documentarians, friends from the old days, dirty jobbers, mad scientists from somebody's got to do it, who are still trying to make a better mousetrap, and bloody do-gooters

from returning the favor, who are still trying to make the world a better place. And some celebrities now and then. Tim Allen comes by, Jay Leno, and so forth. But mostly it really and truly is a box of chocolates. Oh, you'll meet my mother, our most, our favorite guest probably, who I guess is now a celebrity in her own right. God help me. And my old buddy Chuck, who's the producer of this hot mess. Chuck and I used to sing in a barbershop quartet once upon a time. So there will be singing on the podcast and a series of unauthorized jingles that I write for our sponsors who are still trying to figure out what in the world is going on.
