This episode is brought to you by ExpressVPN and Movement. Whoa. And not the Mafia, is it? I mean, that's going to lead to some questions about the Mafia, but I'm going to say definitively, no. That's right. That's right. Red hot comic book movie news. Shooting up your butt hole. The Weekly Planet balls The Weekly Planet The Weekly Planet
Starting point is 00:01:26 Welcome back everybody to another episode of The Weekly Planet where we talk movies and comics and TV shows. My name is James, also known as Mr. Sunday, but with me as always, as always, is my co-host Nick Mason. Thank you. Here he is again, as always. I'm here as always. As always.
Starting point is 00:01:41 It feels good to be here always. Do you think... Just under the desk. I was going to leap in under the desk when you go away. Yep. We roll out a little dog bed and he goes up here. We give him a jar, you know, one of those jars with, like, some peanut butter in the bottom.
Starting point is 00:01:55 Oh, my goodness. What a treat. And it's soundproofed in here, so I'm not hearing, you know, possums or whatever. That's right. He's just having a good old time. And we aim this week, as we do every week, to have a good old time talking about the hottest in movies
Starting point is 00:02:06 and comics and TV shows. Luke, do you want me to just do a quick rundown of what we're going to talk about this week? Yes, but first. I was going to say, and then we do the plug thing. No, we do the plug thing first. Okay, fine then. Let's do the plug thing, Mason.
Starting point is 00:02:17 Yeah. Let's break with tradition maybe. We've gotten people jazzed with the thing where I'm sleeping under a desk or whatever. It's true. So I figure, you know, people are now impressed by our incredible comedic timing and our ability to think of things. But also it's a real thing that happens, so they might be impressed by that.
Starting point is 00:02:35 That's true as well, yes. This week I was on the podcast Confessions of the Idiots, our buddy Sammy P. That's a podcast I've also been on. You've also been on it? I might be on the next episode after you. Well, let's get a run going. I'm on the current episode. It's myself and Alistair Trombley-Birchall.
Starting point is 00:02:52 What a delight. We're in studio. We're having a great time. It's a real ride. It gets very loose in this episode. Oh, that's good. I'll give that a listen because that's a great show. People will like, I saw some tweets, people will like,
Starting point is 00:03:03 the last five minutes really goes off the rails. So if you could zip to that, but I think then you wouldn't, I think some context is probably required, if I remember correctly. You'd absolutely definitely almost certainly need that. It's true, yeah. That's terrific. A couple other things I want to mention also. I was also going to say just before we go on,
Starting point is 00:03:20 I'm always very excited because ReDown, comedian and artist ReDown, does the little thumbnails. Oh, yeah. Little cartoons. And I was very excited to see what mine looked like, and it's a bit of fun. Fantastic. A little bit of fun.
Starting point is 00:03:33 I'm excited to see that. Well, I have seen it. Look at your little face. It looks a lot like you. It does, doesn't it? Yeah. I mean, less bloody wrinkles. Got him.
Starting point is 00:03:41 A couple of things I want to mention, Mason. Go on. Because there's no texture in the face it's a cartoon that's why it would be weird if they did put a lot of creases in it oh my god um thank you to the uh innumerable amount of people who sent us their spotify wrapped yes i woke up to a lot and then there were many more over the next couple of days and i didn't reply to a single one because quite frankly it was overwhelming. I'm like, well, if I reply to one, then I've got to reply.
Starting point is 00:04:08 What about the people who've also sent me this? So we want to clarify we didn't reply to anyone because we hate you. No, Mason. Oh, is that what you're saying? That's not what I'm saying. I was trying to finish your sentiment there. Is that not where the sentiment's going? That might be what you think as a man who sleeps in a dog bed.
Starting point is 00:04:24 That's what I thought you were going to say. Who doesn't understand human behavior. Yeah, you would think that, obviously, because your concept of reality is so off. It's very off. But, no, I found it overwhelming in a good way. And speaking of, people might have seen this, we were putting up Suggestible, my less successful podcast
Starting point is 00:04:39 that I do with my wife where we also recommend things, books, movies, whatever, for the Australian Podcasting Awards because we wanted to win it. And you did win it. Well, being less successful, we came third. You won bronze? The Weekly Planet has won the Australian Podcasting Award before. It makes sense that that would win third. I just wanted to say thank you so much for that.
Starting point is 00:04:59 That was really super cool to see. And we'll talk about that more this week. But also we found out that you can also enter. Again. Again. So we're going up again next year, the weekly flat out. We're doing it again. As we call it.
Starting point is 00:05:12 We call it the big dog show, don't we, Mason? Are we the big dog show? I guess. Yeah, I guess we are because, you know, because of all the dog stuff from earlier. That's all the dog stuff from earlier. So, yeah, there you go. Anyway, so that was really cool.
Starting point is 00:05:24 Those last two things, just really nice that people listen and support and it's super cool. Some people listen to the podcast a lot. Many hours. And I would say the correct amount of hours. I agree. Hundreds of hours. I agree.
Starting point is 00:05:38 So this week we're going to be talking about the future of the Spider-Man movies. We're going to be talking about Colby Smulders returning to the MCU. We're going to be talking about a brand new Dracula. returning to the MCU. We're going to be talking about a brand-new Dracula. Can we call her Colby Smulders? Colby Smulders. Colby brand cheese. What's her name again?
Starting point is 00:05:53 Colby Smulders. Colby Smulders. Fox Mulder. A Game of Thrones prequel that was cancelled. And then we're going to talk about Tom Cruise's brand-new way that he's trying to kill himself. You might have seen this. It's very exciting.
Starting point is 00:06:06 Oh, I haven't. Is this Mission Impossible related or just in his daily life? Yeah, absolutely it is. We don't know. But presumably it's Mission Impossible related. Maybe sometimes like people just mobile phone footage of him just screaming down a highway backwards on a motorcycle is released and then there's some damage control
Starting point is 00:06:24 and a movie studio just contacts the press and they're like, yeah, that's Mission Impossible 8. That's Mission Impossible, definitely. Yeah, we're filming a movie, definitely. Yeah, it's normal. Now, we're never supposed to make any Mission Impossible movies, but he keeps doing ridiculous things.
Starting point is 00:06:35 I know. So we just have to build a concept of a spy movie around it. And then also we're going to talk about movies that we've changed our minds on over the years, for good or ill. This was recommended by Chris Stuckman. Yeah, he did a video on it. And so I thought that's a really good concept, to steal, I said.
Starting point is 00:06:51 And then we were going to talk about Snake Eyes, but we've run out of time. Well, we've got this going on. How could we? With a concept this conceptual idea. Yeah, we're going to think of some. And then also the Planet Broadcasting Great Mates Facebook group is also going to come up.
Starting point is 00:07:04 That's right. We're going to read them out. And then also the Planet Broadcasting Great Mates Facebook group is also going to come up. That's right. We're going to read them out and go, I agree or disagree. Exactly right. But I've got a bunch of my own that I want to talk about. Time code's below. Thank you, Collings. Where does this? We're putting them below.
Starting point is 00:07:13 Let's go, Mason. This is via Fandango. Amy Pascal says, we're thinking, she runs Spider-Man movies over at Sony and other properties. We're thinking of this as three films, and then we're going to go on to the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies. Now, according to the Hollywood Reporter, there's no official plans at this point.
Starting point is 00:07:36 And also- What are you talking about? More Spider-Man movies. Oh, I see. Sorry, this is in relation to the next three Spider-Man movies after these three. Okay. So Amy Pascal is saying we're definitely doing them.
Starting point is 00:07:46 Hollywood Reporter is saying we're not sure this is happening yet. And this is what Tom Holland said on the topic. Listen, all I'll say is we have some very, very exciting things to talk about. I don't know what those things are or what they will transpire to mean, but it looks like it's an incredible bright future ahead. And as I've said before, Spider-Man will live forever in me. That's nice.
Starting point is 00:08:11 There we go. So the other week he was like, don't know if I'm going to do Spider-Man anymore. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Fuck cinema. But I think obviously they've worked. Art is dead and I killed it. I'm in an Uncharted movie.
Starting point is 00:08:27 They've worked out some kind of deal, it seems. Or they're very close to, and they're going to do another trilogy where they'll probably do Venom and Miles Morales and a bunch of other shit and whatever. So that's cool, I think. Anyway, speaking of Fox Mulder, did you see this via deadline that Colby Smolmas is going to be joining the cast? She's coming back as Maria Hill. In Secret Invasion.
Starting point is 00:08:46 Secret Invasion, yes. I did see that. Yeah, that's exciting. So she's in these TV shows and movies occasionally, isn't she? Yes. Ever since... Avengers. Avengers, maybe?
Starting point is 00:08:55 That's correct, yes. Yeah, so there you go. What are you hoping for in a Maria Hill cameo? Maria Hill. Yep, that's it. She's wearing the uniform or civvies. Yep. Got a gun.
Starting point is 00:09:04 Got a gun. Yep, quips. Yep. Technically she wasn't in Spider-Man Far From Home because it's not her at all. Or she's always been a Skrull? Oh, great question. We don't know.
Starting point is 00:09:14 A friend of the show Nando V Movies recently did a video about his picks of who might a Skrull be in the upcoming second invasion. Good vid. Very good. That's something that we should have done and now we can't. Now we can do it. We can steal it, couldn't we?
Starting point is 00:09:27 We can steal his ideas. We can steal his ideas and we can take his pics but in a slightly different order. Yeah. We can just take the video. Yeah, exactly. And just chop it up into slightly different variations. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:40 Yeah, sure. Yeah, that's fun. I'm enjoying that. We did a similar thing for Captain Marvel maybe. I don't know. Did we? I don't know. Anyway, sure. Yeah, that's fun. I'm enjoying that. We did a similar thing for Captain Marvel maybe. I don't know. Did we? I don't know. Anyway, cool.
Starting point is 00:09:48 Because you know what? The TV shows, they're all about taking minor characters sometimes and giving them more roles. Like in that Captain America one where they brought back, what's her name, is the thing. You know? You know exactly what I'm talking about, don't you? Yes, I know.
Starting point is 00:10:03 Sharon Carter. In Captain America. She was in that. She was in it a bit or whatever. She was in that. Yeah, yeah. You know exactly what I'm talking about, don't you? Yes, I know. Sharon Carter. She was in that. She was in it a bit or whatever. She was in that quite a bit. She was a power broker. That's right. Speaking of which. It's 11 o'clock, by the way.
Starting point is 00:10:13 It's too late. We dicked around so much before this. It's embarrassing. It's embarrassing how much we tell you the things that we looked up and spoke about, but you'd be like, why do you do the things you do? That's true. You'd be blown away by their mundanity. You'd be like, why did you spend so much time Googling those things?
Starting point is 00:10:33 That just uninteresting stuff. But it seemed important at the time. But now, in the cold light of night time, when it's late and we still haven't recorded this podcast. We're like, man. Makes you really look at yourself, doesn't it? Yeah. My God. Was the couscous conversation before this or after this?
Starting point is 00:10:52 I think that was slightly before. Okay. So that wasn't in the podcast. That wasn't in the podcast. Yeah. You couldn't think of the word. Anyway. Couscous.
Starting point is 00:10:58 It's technically two words. I mean, they are the same word. How do you define anything? You know what I mean? Did you see this? Oh, because I said I was going to murder somebody in a Whole Foods store. That's what you did. That's what you said.
Starting point is 00:11:10 Nicolas Cage is going to be a Dracula. Did you see that? I did. Dark Universe is back. That's right. Very exciting. Do you know what movie this is in? Renfield?
Starting point is 00:11:18 It's the Renfield movie, which stars Nicolas Holt as Renfield. Awkwafina is also now said to be involved in an undisclosed role. So Nicholas Cage played, what was that insane movie that people always talk about where he played like a guy who thought he was a vampire? Remember that one? Ooh, vaguely, yeah. Remember the one I'm talking about?
Starting point is 00:11:38 He's got the teeth and he's like a salesman or something and he's just going insane over the course of a movie and he's screaming about how he's a vampire. Big Teeth Vampire Salesman. That's the one, yeah. There you go. Anyway, it's set to be set in the modern day. Okay.
Starting point is 00:11:51 Much like some of the movie Dracula Untold, the very end. And some of the TV series Dracula, modern day Dracula. He has an iPad Dracula. That's right. Who gave Dracula an iPad? I believe that show was called. It's also directed by Chris McKay, who did Anchorman and The Big Short and other things. Is he related to Adam McKay?
Starting point is 00:12:14 Actually, he might be. I was thinking of Adam McKay. You are thinking of Adam McKay. So he is not the same person as the person I was thinking of. Who is he then? Who is he? Let's find out. Chris McKay, he did the Lego Batman movie. He did The Tomorrow War the tomorrow war so there you go okay one of those things you liked and one of
Starting point is 00:12:28 those things you didn't like is that correct and the one closer to the present day is the one that i didn't like that's right so there you go great great stuff good track record uh he also um he was an uncredited writer for reshoots on the movie do little okay but to pin that on him you can't you can't it's a great idea. Yeah, you cannot do that. If you're anybody else involved in the writing of that movie. If he was a writer on one of the reshoots, one of those reshoots is where they pulled the bagpipes out of the Loch Ness Monster's butt.
Starting point is 00:12:56 Maybe that was him. He's also on the next Nightwing movie. That's interesting. There you go. So that's coming up. What do you think about Nicolas Cage being a Dracula? You didn't even have to finish that sentence. What do you think about Nicolas Cage being a Dracula? You didn't even have to finish that sentence. What do you think about Nicolas Cage?
Starting point is 00:13:08 Yes. Yes. Put him in stuff. Great. Put him in a Dracula movie. I feel like it's probably 20 years too late for him to be a Dracula, though, you know what I mean? I mean, would you have said that about Leslie Nielsen?
Starting point is 00:13:20 Yes. Dracula dead and loving it? I did say that at the time. I was very vocal about it at my family home. This is outrageous. This man is well past his prime What do you mean he's a Dracula? Isn't he the naked gun guy? What do you mean?
Starting point is 00:13:35 What do you mean stop talking in this voice Claire? What do you mean? No it was the 90s I was a little boy Oh I see you're a little boy in this situation This wasn't like yesterday I liked him in Spy Hard, but this is ridiculous. So, yeah, look, it'll be great. Do you reckon he's going to be a Nosferatu-style big creep?
Starting point is 00:13:50 Or handsome Dracula? No, I think Nosferatu creep. Yeah. Yeah. I think he will. Oh, but he's Dracula, though. Dracula can do both. Yeah, I think he will lean more towards horrible monster Dracula.
Starting point is 00:14:03 Does this mean, then, that he's going to- I mean, he can do both within the frame of like one movie. Oh, yeah, that's true, I guess. Yeah, that's true. Do you think this is then going to change the focus of this movie from Renfield to Dracula? Do you think this is going to become a more Dracula-heavy movie? Look, Mason.
Starting point is 00:14:17 Yes, Kyle. I hope so. I absolutely want that to be the case. Because the character of Renfield is kind of boring? Yeah. No. Well, yes. No.
Starting point is 00:14:24 Yes. No? I don't know. I don character of Renfield is kind of boring? Yeah. No. Well, yes. No. Yes. No? I don't know. Don't know. You can land on don't know. Peter McNichol in Dracula Dead and Loving. That's correct. Yes.
Starting point is 00:14:32 Very correct. Ghostbusters own. Whoever he was in Dracula, who's given Dracula an iPad? Who gave Dracula an iPad? Renfield, maybe. Or his relatives? He's descended. Renfield attorneys at law?
Starting point is 00:14:44 Dracula's lawyer. Renfield's nephew his relatives he's descended Renfield Renfield attorneys at law Dracula's lawyer Renfield's nephew or something yeah Lenny Renfield Lenny Renfield Leonard Renfield trailers ahoy everybody
Starting point is 00:14:53 my god there's a few trailers this week did you see there was a new Matrix trailer I did see it yes and it was a blending
Starting point is 00:15:00 of imagery from the original movies and the new movie still using that White Rabbit song over again. Jeez, it looks good. I don't want to get my hopes up, but I'm very excited for this. Your voice is saying it does look good.
Starting point is 00:15:13 Your face was like, I don't know. Because I'm like, I so badly now at this point want this to be good. The most interesting thing, I think, was that it was a sort of a sweep across sort of like earlier Matrix stuff from the previous Matrix movies and then it would sweep over perhaps an iconic character and then we'd see what they looked like now for whatever reason. So there was one of the Merovingian where he's kind of, you know,
Starting point is 00:15:39 his smarmy, sophisticated self and then it would sort of pan across and we saw a tiny little snippet of him and he looks like some sort of hermit, some sort of bearded hermit. And I'm like, okay, is that what the Merovingian, the computer program looks like now? Or is that a man in the real world who looks like the Merovingian? Maybe the Merovingian was based on him or is it? I think he's fallen on hard times, this fellow.
Starting point is 00:16:01 Do you think it's the actual Merovingian he's fallen on hard times or do you think it could be? I think he has to work in a French restaurant with the help of a little French rat. That's what I think's happened to him. Wow, wow, wow. Tugs on his beard, his ratty beard. His ratty beard.
Starting point is 00:16:13 The rat's like, I don't know who's more ratty, me or you. And I'm literally a rat. And Merovingian's like, yeah, you, yeah. Causality and so forth. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's make some sex cakes, you know? All right. Let's make sex cake.
Starting point is 00:16:29 He'd be the kind of guy controlling the rat to make a meal. You know what I mean? Wow, okay. He's that kind of creep. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Anyway, I thought it was very intriguing. Yes. You into it?
Starting point is 00:16:40 Yes. I think we might be able to see this in movies. I think they might be doing a Melbourne screening. I mean, we will eventually be able to see it. No, no, no. I mean, like slightly earlier than, because I think it's coming out in the movies and streaming. So it's coming out on streaming on like the 22nd of December.
Starting point is 00:16:55 Okay, sure, sure, sure. It's coming out in Australia on the 26th. Yeah. So a few days late. And if it's coming out late here, I'm streaming it. I'm not waiting for The Matrix. I don't want to watch it at home, but I will. That's interesting.
Starting point is 00:17:07 I think if we can't see it ahead of time, I think I'm going to have to do full social media blackout and see it at the cinemas because I don't want to see The Matrix. I have an invite to the Sydney screening if you really want to go to that. I don't want to go to Sydney though. I could take the train up to Sydney. I could make a day of it. A day of it?
Starting point is 00:17:28 Yes. On a nine-hour train to Sydney? Yes. All right. See how we go. See how we go. Yeah. I still feel this new Morpheus isn't a real Morpheus.
Starting point is 00:17:39 Yeah. He's doing a lot. I think he's a movie character. You definitely have. You've seen the Hannibal Buress Morpheus rap. Yes, of course. If you haven't seen that, you don't need any context. Just look it up.
Starting point is 00:17:56 It's very funny. Anyway, what a big month, man. I mean, it's this and Spider-Man and maybe there's an Aquaman movie coming out. Who knows? Who knows? Who knows at this point? Who's going to be the big loser is the question.
Starting point is 00:18:10 Yeah. Well, you know what? If there's going to be a loser box office-wise, it will be The Matrix. Yeah, probably. Because it's coming to streaming. Yeah, no, that's true. Because Warner Brothers committed to this thing like a year and a half ago
Starting point is 00:18:22 or whatever. And the proportion of people, the proportion of cinema goers who were also people who were huge fans of the movies, you know, nearly two decades ago. Yeah. That's not, that's not. But maybe a lot of people have like only seen the first one and be like, oh, no.
Starting point is 00:18:37 And then Keanu Reeves is popular again. Oh, that's true, yeah. And whatever. And whatever, Mason. You okay over there? I just, I don't know. I there? I just, I don't know. I feel like I'm probably, I don't know. I shouldn't get excited for things.
Starting point is 00:18:49 I see. I just, you know. I'm going to get more excited for this than I've gotten excited for anything. Well, I'm excited for you to get excited about it. I'm hyped. Oh, wow. All aboard the hype train, would you say? Yes.
Starting point is 00:18:59 Let me just take this cord as the right cord plugged in. Oh, no. I'm pretty sure it is. Okay. Yeah, that's right. Terrific stuff. We're professional. Yeah, that's right. Terrific stuff. We're professional. Yeah, we're very.
Starting point is 00:19:08 Something I definitely should have checked before we recorded all the stuff we recorded. Should we color code these cables somehow? With what, Mason? Right now. With what? Peanut butter. I've got this jar of peanut butter. One can be the peanut buttery one.
Starting point is 00:19:21 Yeah. And one can be the non-peanut buttery one. It's a great point. It's a great point. All right. There was also a trailer point. It's a great point. Yeah, yeah, yeah. All right. There was also a trailer, surprising and completely out of nowhere. It was a clip of the movie Morbius, Dr. Michael Dracula Morbius. I didn't say it.
Starting point is 00:19:33 Don't worry about it. I didn't. I was going to message you, but then I'm like, it's his transformation and whatever. Oh, my goodness. It actually doesn't look terrible. But there was also a surprise drop-off, Spider-Man Across the Spider-verse part one yes uh so this is the sequel
Starting point is 00:19:47 to into the spider-verse from 2018 i want to say or 2017 it pretty much kicks off where the last one ended right because where miles morales thinks that he's been shunted back to his reality and he'll never see all his interdimensional friends again but But then Gwen Stacy's like, no, I'm here though. I'm here now. And also there's a few changes. He's bigger. He's clearly like a year older at least. He's taller.
Starting point is 00:20:12 He's got a new suit. Yep. And we also see that he. He's still listening to Post Malone, that one song. That's okay. He's allowed to listen to music. He's allowed to listen to music. His Spotify rap is going to be very similar to his previous year's Spotify rap,
Starting point is 00:20:25 as far as I'm concerned. I'd imagine you're probably correct. And also, it seems that as he's spinning through a dimension, he has tangles with Miguel O'Hara, as voiced by Oscar Isaac, who also, I don't think he's necessarily in the future because they both come out of portals. That's true. Like hexagonal portals.
Starting point is 00:20:44 It looks to me like he abducts Miles Morales' Spider-Man and then maybe they go to the year 2099. I think one of those dimensions was the future dimensions. Cool. That's cool. I'm a big fan of that. There's already some interesting new kind of visuals at play here. It seems as if, sorry, it was confirmed that they're working
Starting point is 00:21:04 on both of these at once. So this is coming October of next year and there is a blank spot on the Sony roster in October of 2023. So I'd imagine that that's probably this if they are doing them at the same time. Or a Morbius sequel. Oh, my God. Morbius it's going to be called.
Starting point is 00:21:23 Morbius. Yeah, that's good. Question mark. There's a Question mark Morbius 2? Yeah are you Are we doing this? What are we? What's going on here? You guys still like movies? You guys like
Starting point is 00:21:40 dreary movies about Draculas? You like that? You like Dracula movies? Yeah We're getting a lot of Dracula movies it seems. Two at least. Two Dracula movies. I remember when there were no Dracula movies for a time. You can't bloody throw a rocket at a Dracula movie.
Starting point is 00:21:55 What have we got here? I still feel like there are more out of copyright monsters they could be doing. We need another Frankenstein, I think. They're doing something, I think. But they just did iFrankenstein maybe 10, maybe 20 years ago. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And they did James McAvoy's Frankenstein movie. Oh, Frankenstein Pals or whatever it was.
Starting point is 00:22:16 Yeah, yeah. So, you know, cool, I guess. Okay, well, what I think maybe I meant there was people should be better at informing me about Frankenstein movies and making me watch them. All right. So I don't forget about them and then say something stupid
Starting point is 00:22:30 on a podcast like. Yeah. There should be more Frankenstein movies. Unless maybe there should be more. Maybe there should be one a week. Yeah. Do you think it's due
Starting point is 00:22:38 for like a CW sexy Frankenstein movie? Sexy Frankensteins, yes. Yeah. And he has to go to high school or whatever. Yeah. Frankenstein Diaries. Oh, and he has to go to high school or whatever. Yeah, Frankenstein Diaries. Oh, true.
Starting point is 00:22:47 Too many villagers with bitch forks. I'm sad. Maybe he's cool because he's like alternative though, you know? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just get Archie. The guy who plays Archie. That's fine. To be a Frankenstein.
Starting point is 00:22:58 He'll do it. He's tall. He's tall, isn't he? I think they've killed him in the show. Have they? No, I think they've killed him in like an imaginary story or something like that. Oh, okay, in in the show. Have they? No, I think they've killed him in like an imaginary story or something like that. In an imaginary show. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:06 I've seen some videos about Riverdale that are like, that are very critical of like, oh, this show sucks because just anything can happen. Yeah, that's good. I don't care. Go nuts. Let Archie be a cage fighter. I don't care.
Starting point is 00:23:18 He's a cage fighter. Is he? I watched like three seasons of that. I think I stopped because like it was in between seasons. So it's something that I will return to at some point. I think they should bring in the superhero characters that Archie comics own sometimes. Because they brought in the Black Hood,
Starting point is 00:23:31 who is a superhero in the MLJ comics, Red Circle, whatever it's called now. But they brought him in as a serial killer. I think they should just bring them all in. Just bring the shield in. Just that weird Captain America knockoff that premiered like a couple of months before captain america oh really bringing the fly yep bringing the comics bringing the punisher oh bringing the punisher i mean it's netflix bring in john berthel just just get that strike that
Starting point is 00:23:57 netflix deal up again do a do a sexy like very accurate accurate adaptation of that one comic book. It's ridiculous. Just bring in Mrs. Grundy even though she went to jail or whatever. Okay, yeah. Which one's she? She was the teacher who was having an affair with Archie. Did she go to jail? Yeah, I think she went to jail.
Starting point is 00:24:18 She probably should have because of the affair. She shouldn't do that. Yeah. Shouldn't do that. I'll put my foot down. Do you ever watch the show A Teacher? No. It was really good. It was do that. I'll put my foot down. Do you ever watch the show A Teacher? No. It was really good.
Starting point is 00:24:25 It was about that very thing. Oh. It's like it's framed initially as it's got what's her name? He played Invisible Woman and the kid from Jurassic World. It's the older one. Yep. Great. Both names I've forgotten.
Starting point is 00:24:37 Kate something? Kate Mara. Kate Mara. We did it. And his name also. Ken Mara. Nick something, I think. Oh.
Starting point is 00:24:43 Yeah, Nick Robinson. And it starts off like as this kind of romance where like, because she's a teacher and he's a student and it's like, it's kind of like it's played like this. Like a romantic comedy. I think. All right. And then the horrible reality of the situation sets in.
Starting point is 00:24:57 And then it's just real world consequences. So is it a comedy that turns into a drama? It's not a comedy at all. No, I'm going to say, but does it pitch itself as a rom-com or something that turns into a drama? No, I wouldn't say. It's more like it's never framed like this is cool. Right.
Starting point is 00:25:11 But the way that it's kind of from this perspective of. Oh, it's like nice. Yeah, like they're wrapped up in it. You know what I mean? And then it kind of, you know, what happens from there. It's very good. I talked about Unsuggestable last year. Anyways, Spider-Man Across the Universe. My only concern is that if they're doing. It's very good. I've talked about Unsuggestable last year. Anyways, Spider-Man Across the Universe,
Starting point is 00:25:26 my only concern is that if they're doing two. It's bad. Yes. But if they're doing two at once, that's a lot. That's true. But it can be done. With computers. That's right.
Starting point is 00:25:35 I think they'll probably use computers to help them out. Remember when they made the Matrix movies back to back? Remember when they made the Back to the Future movies back to back? Remember when they made the Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and 3 movies back to back? Remember when they made the Avengers movies back to back? No. they made the Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and 3 movies back to back. Remember when they made the Avengers movies back to back. No. They did. Did they? Yeah, Infinity War and Endgame. Oh, those ones, sure, yeah. Yeah, the
Starting point is 00:25:52 really popular ones. I thought you meant Avengers and Age of Ultron. Mason, you fucking idiot. Go on. No. I'm listening. You need to do that at least once an episode because I haven't been listening up until this point Anyway, there you go That's my concern
Starting point is 00:26:09 I think it'll be It'll probably be really good See, the problem is with all those previous movies they didn't have computers to help them out With this one, I think That's true They have those computers They had a stick and a hoop
Starting point is 00:26:18 Yeah Yeah, it's not very good Yeah, yeah But look, I guess the other thing about going into Spider-Verse, it's harder to surprise us because that first one. Oh, sure. The visual spectacle, it's going to have to be. I had zero expectations of that until the first trailer came out
Starting point is 00:26:34 and I'm like, wait a minute, what's happening here? Does it make a good thing? In a way, I guess we will have to temper our expectations insofar as we're geared to accept, like, innovative animation. Like, there's only, like, I think it feels like it probably peaked in that movie. Like, we're going to see.
Starting point is 00:26:52 They said that they've got some stuff in the works. Smell-O-Vision? Yeah, maybe. But it's not only that. It's also, like, a very good story. Yeah. You know? Oh, Smell-O-Vision, but they won't do farts.
Starting point is 00:27:03 That's a Sony promise. You've got to do farts if you're doing Smell-O-Vision, but they won't do farts. That's a Sony promise. You've got to do farts if you're doing Smell-O-Vision. That's true. It can't be all nice. You know what I mean? See, James, that's some real backwards thinking right there. You're probably right. Better things are possible.
Starting point is 00:27:16 I say I'm campaigning on a platform of no farts in Smell-O-Vision. All right. Because people are sick of it quite frankly. Campaigning for what? President. President of the United States. Okay. I think if I campaign on, I'm going to introduce Smell-O-Vision to every television in the
Starting point is 00:27:30 US and every movie theater, but there won't be any farts. I think they will look past the fact that as someone who's not born in America, I can't be president. Okay. What do you think? You'll do what Arnold couldn't. Yes, exactly. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:42 Okay. I love it. I'm into it. Yeah. Did you know that there was a game? That dude wanted smell-o-vision. He wanted. Yeah, he wanted.
Starting point is 00:27:48 Yeah, he did, didn't he? Yeah. God. Go back to lifting weights, idiot. And movies. Philanthropy or whatever. And cheating on your wives. Whatever you do.
Starting point is 00:27:56 Sure, yeah, yeah. Whatever you do. All those things. All the things. Game of Thrones. Being friends with a little horse. Sometimes he's friends with a little horse. What's he up to? Sometimes he's got a bike with one of those really thick wheels. You know what I mean? Yeah with a little horse. What's he up to?
Starting point is 00:28:05 Sometimes he's got a bike with one of those really thick wheels. You know what I mean? Yeah, yeah, yeah. What's he up to? I don't know. Yeah. You know there was a Game of Thrones prequel that was shot over at HBO. I'll tell you what I know about it.
Starting point is 00:28:16 What do you know? It was a prequel and it was shot over at HBO. I think you've got most of the key information here. Did you know, though, it cost them $30 million, but the Warner Brothers chairman Bob Greenblatt said they spent over $30 million on it and when we saw a cut of it
Starting point is 00:28:31 a few months after I arrived he said, this just doesn't work and I don't think it delivers on the promise of the original series. Smell-O-Vision. That's right. With farts. And so it was kind of a relief and they just pulled it. So it started like, know me, Watts. Yeah, like a fart.
Starting point is 00:28:47 Like a fart. Very good. Yeah, yeah, yeah. For someone who's anti-Smell-O-Vision farts, you talk a lot about farts, Mason. Yeah. Yeah, I don't like this. Okay. I'm playing both sides against the middle.
Starting point is 00:28:58 What? Somebody, see, what I'm saying, you know, everybody's either for or against farts in Smell-O-Vision. So I figure, assuming some people tune out. Yep. You can't appreciate, like, the smell of the ocean or a sweet cotton candy in a Smell-O-Vision if you're not throwing in a fart.
Starting point is 00:29:14 I don't think that's true. Like a bad smell. No. You know what I mean? How do you appreciate the good days if you have bad days? You know what I mean? I just have all good days and they're sweet. Just eating fairy floss.
Starting point is 00:29:24 I'm having a good time. Yeah, down at the ocean, like you said. So there you go. Don't you think that's insane, though, that they could spend $30 million and just go, nah. They reshot the first Game of Thrones pilot as well. A lot of that, but that wouldn't have cost anywhere near that because it's mostly unknowns as well at the time it was.
Starting point is 00:29:46 I get, do they justify it by looking at future earnings but also looking at the old Game of Thrones and being like, we made $10 billion off that or whatever. I'd say that's exactly what it is. We've got a slush fund of money we can throw at experimental projects and find one that works, I guess. And they are doing a Game of Thrones prequel, House of Dragons, something, something.
Starting point is 00:30:06 They're doing a Dunkin' Egg one. Did you say as well? No. Yeah. Dunkin' Egg. I read the comic of it. It's about two people. One is.
Starting point is 00:30:14 Dunkin' and Egg. Yes. Okay. They're best friends? They're best friends. One's a squire and maybe one's secretly royalty or something and whatever. Probably the egg. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:23 I think the egg. You can't see inside the shell, but he's got a crown in there. Yeah. A crown in the egg? Yep. Wow, it's a real Humpty Dumpty situation, isn't it? Yeah. Except the crown's on the inside of the egg.
Starting point is 00:30:32 Yes. And it's never mentioned explicitly that Humpty Dumpty was an egg. And if it's based on a true story. Was he a cannon? Yeah, or a man that fell off a wall. No, it wasn't a cannon, was it? I think we've mentioned it before. We've got a lot of emails.
Starting point is 00:30:43 That was a cannon. Was it a man or an egg? And the horses couldn't fix it. Wow. You know? These nitpickers. Yeah, I know. Last bit of news.
Starting point is 00:30:52 This is by a comic book movie, Our Stomping Ground. Yeah. Production on the long-delayed Mission Impossible 8 has already begun, and according to eyewitness reports, Tom Cruise was harnessed to a wing of a biplane, then dangled himself upside down as the plane flipped on its belly. And then that left the three times Academy Award nominated actor sitting right side up.
Starting point is 00:31:12 And the pilot then proceeded to take the plane into a nosedive and perform a spin before Cruise finally made his way back into the cockpit. Okay. So he's hanging off the bottom of a biplane. Yep. They flip the biplane. Yep. So he's now standing up instead of, okay. Yes. Or they're right by up. Then they nosedive the plane.
Starting point is 00:31:30 Yep. And then they do another flip. Okay, then he gets back in the cockpit. Yep. And then they serve drinks. Nice. He's rich and he would do that. For sure. Yeah, so. What is the context for him being on a biplane though? Time travel. Oh, I see. he has to fight the red
Starting point is 00:31:46 baron the plane is yellow in the stunt but in the final movie it will be red he was in the movie valkyrie and that was also about time travel because tom cruise was in world war ii trying to kill hitler yeah yeah that's true anyway that sounds like something i would air show yeah i wouldn't even want to do like the vr experience of that that would make me vomit yeah right is he at an air show i guess it could be at an air show is it is there a picture there of anything there's just like you see a yellow plane from a distance okay is it definitely a biplane though it is a biplane okay it's not some sort of modern day like somebody's made some sort of experimental i'll find if you could if you well maybe they're using the biplane as like
Starting point is 00:32:24 the test thing and then they'll use a different plane or whatever they'll use an F-14, a Tomcat yeah, well so this is for Mission Impossible 8, so there's one coming out, it's not this so yeah, they're just getting ready for this thing
Starting point is 00:32:40 so you're saying that presumably Mission Impossible 7 will provide all the context for the biplane? Yes, this is definitely a biplane as well. And by biplane, I mean... A plane. A plane. Oh, yeah, that's...
Starting point is 00:32:51 Yeah, okay, yeah. Wait, wait, wait, hang on. You know, it's an old-timey... Oh, no, that's definitely a biplane. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, sure. I was looking at that and I'm like, I don't know the specifics of planes.
Starting point is 00:33:00 Is that a biplane? Does a biplane mean it's got two propellers? Because that doesn't have two propellers. No, that's a twin prop plane. But it's two wings. It's two wings, isn't it? Two sets of wings. Two sets of wings. Two sets of wings. Is that a biplane? Does a biplane mean it's got two propellers? Because that doesn't have two propellers. No, that's a twin prop plane. There's two wings, isn't it? Two sets of wings. Two sets of wings. Two wings is regular plane. They call those regular planes. You know at your airport and they're like, your regular plane is boarding.
Starting point is 00:33:14 Your regular plane. I asked for a one-winged plane. One wing straight up. Like a shark's fin. Nice. Take me to the goddamn sky. Yeah. So there you go. Okay. Take me to the goddamn sky. Yeah. So there you go. Okay.
Starting point is 00:33:28 I'm going to say they're at some sort of stunt show. Okay. I'm going to say duty calls and he just happens to be going to some sort of, he's at some sort of airplane stunt show and he's like. I'm going to say he's down on his luck. And he's doing. And he's working at a stunt show. Okay, great.
Starting point is 00:33:41 But like if you're working at a stunt show, if he's at a stunt show, like that's not spectacular to watch a man climb out on a wing. It's not that interesting. Yeah, that's true. I've been to a stunt show, like a plane stunt show, and it's like here comes the F-45 Raptor whatever, whatever, and then they just go, you know, they buzz over and I'm like incredible. And by that I mean that was one second.
Starting point is 00:33:58 Yeah. And I didn't like it. And it was loud. You're right in the announcer's ear. You're leaning in, you're like, and it was loud and I didn't like it. Could you please let the rest of the audience know that it was loud and I didn't like it? And we'll see who agrees. Mr. Announcer man.
Starting point is 00:34:16 It was pretty spectacular, the whole thing, to be fair, in general. Using the internet without ExpressVPN is like taking a freaking call on a train or a bus on speaker for everyone to hear. But everyone can hear you. That's what I'm talking about. Do you want the whole train to know about- My freaking conversations. That's right. And you're on there and you're calling in hits because you're secretly in the mafia or something, aren't you, Mason? Yeah, and I'm effing and jeffing, through words, which is arguably worse. That's right. That's why you, like everybody else,
Starting point is 00:35:56 needs a VPN. That's right. Because it's about keeping your business, your business, and not everybody else's business, online. That's right. You know what I mean? Yeah. Internet service providers, they actually know every single website that you visit. ISPs can sell this information to ad companies and tech giants who then use your data against you to target you.
Starting point is 00:36:19 Like the mafia. Yeah. Like the mafia. They do that. They would do that. You've done that as a member of the mafia. That's why I recognize the signs. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:36:28 So ExpressVPN, it actually reroutes your network data through a secure encrypted tunnel so your ISP can't see or sell your online activity. It's so easy to use. Fire up the app and click one button. It's actually been ranked number one by CNET and TechRadar in terms of VPN and not Mafia. I believe that it didn't get a look into the Mafia awards this year, which I think is good,
Starting point is 00:36:49 quite frankly. Yeah. If you don't mind me saying so. I've got mixed feelings about the whole thing, honestly. It works on phones, laptops, even routers. So everyone who shares your Wi-Fi can also be protected. What I also like about it is that if you're looking online for a show to watch, you might go to Netflix, you switch it to a different region. You want to watch The Sopranos.
Starting point is 00:37:08 You've got all sorts of different things going on. Every streaming service, pretty much, you've changed the country. This even includes YouTube and there's different content available to you. You can watch The Australian Sopranos. Yep. Animal Kingdom. G'day, mate. It's me, Australian Tony Soprano. That's right. Anthony
Starting point is 00:37:24 Soprano. No. Anthony LaPaglia? Yeah, sure. I was trying to think of an Australian name. Anthony LaPaglia? He's an Australian actor, isn't he? So it's also important to me personally to use ExpressVPN because I don't like people knowing a single goddamn thing about me.
Starting point is 00:37:40 That's right. Because you can only get doxxed once. You know what I mean? That's right. And it's all out there. You can actually protect your online privacy by visiting expressvpn.com slash weeklyplanet today. That's e-x-p-r-e-s-s vpn.com slash weeklyplanet. And you can actually get an extra three months free. Wow. Expressvpn.com slash weeklyplanet.
Starting point is 00:38:02 You know what VPN stands for? What's that, Mason? Vinnie Parmigiana. Something vag weekly planet. You know what VPN stands for? What's that, Mason? Vinnie Parmigiana. Something vaguely Italian. Noodles. Noodles, nice. There we go. But Italian noodles.
Starting point is 00:38:12 Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Not like something you might get in a two-minute noodle. Yeah, correct. Or a pot noodle. That's different. That's teamwork. That's not what it stands for, but yes. Good contribution.

Starting point is 00:39:57 Great size. Yeah. White ceramic. White. Gold crown. Gold hands. Gold markers. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:40:04 Beautifully minimalist. Oh, my God. Beautifully minimalist. Oh, my goodness. I bet if Saint Nick maybe received that from his beautiful wife, Mrs Claus, he'd be like, this is the perfect gift, actually. No stupid elf could make this. That's right. Fire all my elves, he would say. Hire two guys from Movement.
Starting point is 00:40:22 Everybody's getting Movement watches this year and forever more. Movement watches are designed in-house and are also super sleek, clean, and won't break the bank. They start at just $95. As mentioned, they also have clean, minimal designs and quality products, and Movement has sold almost 2 million watches in over 160 countries. Starting point is 00:41:03 These ads are part of an ad cinematic universe. Oh, okay. Right, right. Yeah, yeah. I'm not in the mafia also. I'm not. No, it's not true. These ads are part of an ad cinematic universe. Oh, okay. Right, right. Yeah, yeah. I'm not in the mafia, wink. So we mentioned up top we said we're going to do that thing Chris Stuckman did. Check out his video, by the way, because it's very interesting. He also just had twins.
Starting point is 00:41:16 Congratulations. And I'm sorry. That's a lot. A lot of kids. But it seems like they're handling it very well, so that's very cool. What else we got here? So I've got a list of things that I've changed my mind on over the years somewhat. Go on.
Starting point is 00:41:29 I mean, why don't we just start with, because we've been mentioning it, with the Matrix sequels. Yes. Because we recently rewatched them, and boy, did I have a good time coming back to those. Right. I think initially a lot of what I didn't like about the second two was I wasn't wowed by what they were doing as much as I was in the first one. Sure, yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:50 But I kind of brushed aside a lot of the narrative. I kind of disregarded it, which I think is what actually makes it hold up in the long term. What do you think? Look, I think in retrospect some of the dialogue is still quite clunky. It feels like they definitely, it could have done with a second pass on those movies. But I think, yeah, definitely some of the action,
Starting point is 00:42:15 and again, to be nitpicky, the action sequences in the sequels are still spectacular. The issues that I've always had with them are know we're dealing with characters that are indestructible like neo's indestructible have you but like just as action set pieces as amazing concepts as like real life stunts down like real life manufactured freeways i think there's a lot in that yeah and also i think one of the things that and this is an aspect of growing up i think is that one of the aspects that i didn't like especially about the matrix reloaded was that at the end it's sort of revealed that nothing that the heroes did really mattered yeah because the the the the rebels were sort of allowed to do what they're allowed to do under the nose of the
Starting point is 00:43:00 architect until it was time to exterminate them which case that would happen and i'm like that's absolutely but then as an adult i I'm like, oh, yeah, they've developed a system of control. There's a secondary system of control where they can rebel and it doesn't matter. And that's a deliberate aspect of the system. And I'm like, oh, that's actually very clever. And it took me a long time to understand that.
Starting point is 00:43:19 I think there's kind of probably a similar backlash with The Last Jedi in terms of like a lot of the people who go on little adventures in that are ultimately pointless and ultimately fail, which I also think is a big point of that movie. You know what I mean? Like they go out and they do these ridiculous things and it's like, but they didn't need to do that. If they had just stayed on the ship, they wouldn't.
Starting point is 00:43:40 It's like, yeah, but they did it. They did the wrong thing. Their characters would suggest that they would do the thing that eventually turns out to be wrong, yeah. It was driven by character as opposed to. Yeah, but look, we've talked those to death recently in multiple videos if people want to check those out. But I've got to say, like, I've completely turned around
Starting point is 00:43:59 on those sequels. You know, I really enjoy them, especially like the third one, which I hated or not even maybe just completely indifferent to at the time and I'm like what a bullshit ending but now I really enjoy and I think it's very it's actually very well crafted is it as good as the
Starting point is 00:44:16 first one no they're not as good as the first one but I think I always saw them as like the first one and then just the other two but now I feel like they do actually work as like a complete trilogy more than I initially thought. I wish you had another one. I mean, I had a great one.
Starting point is 00:44:32 What have you got? Well, I've got an entire class. Oh, we're just going to speed through a bunch of these. And maybe spoilers, I guess. Yeah, yeah. Look, I've got an entire class of movies, and that is any movie produced before Star Wars. Okay.
Starting point is 00:44:44 Because it's old and it's like boom. It's old and boom. Exactly, yeah. But, you know. So every movie before Star Wars is good. Yes. Every single movie produced before Star Wars. Wow.
Starting point is 00:44:53 No, but I just mean, you know, so many, especially classics. Yeah. You know, or things that are deemed classics that I spent probably a lot of my teenage years just absolutely, and early 20s just absolutely struggling through. Like the pace and the. Yeah, the pace or the, you know, so much, you know, of a movie that is, you know, that isn't just action kicking it off and then five minutes of talking and then more action.
Starting point is 00:45:20 Like Apocalypse Now is an amazing movie. Yeah, right. I think the first time I saw it it would have been on, I think I'm sure it would have been on like Channel 9 as a kid and I would have taped it because I'd heard good things about it. And so it would have gone for like four and a half hours. It would have gone for like four and a half hours and I'm just like, oh, this is a chore.
Starting point is 00:45:36 This is such a, but, you know, as an adult, I'm like, this is incredible, so much about it. And as you learn more about the production of it, there's a scene towards the start of that movie where martin sheen is like as as um as captain willard is he's he's he's resting up in a in a hotel room and he's drunk and he's dancing he punches a mirror and his hands all bloodied and that's all real and he had a heart attack he really was drunk and punching a mirror and we did have a heart attack yeah that's true yeah uh and and you know some so much of that is again it's it's it's a lot of the stuff that I have turned around on is character based, I think.
Starting point is 00:46:09 Yeah, sure. It's like a lot of. Well, it's stuff that you can't comprehend as a kid as well. I think some people can. I think people who become genuine cinephiles. I think, you know, friends of the show like Alexi and Cam. I was going to say that. I bet they, first time they watch a lot of stuff, they're like, no, I get this.
Starting point is 00:46:23 But, you know, and again, there is some spectacular action in, say, Apocalypse Now. But, you know, it was a lot of me just speeding through the talking. Yeah. And speeding through the character development. And I recently rewatched, because I was on Mission Zaxalegua's Amarama, where we talked about Spawn and Martin Sheen is in that. And so having watched Spawn, I'm like, I'm going to watch Apocalypse Now again.
Starting point is 00:46:47 Yeah. Even better for the millionth time. I can't even remember because I've seen bits of it and I think I watched as a kid but I've got to go back and watch that. And then I want to watch Heart of Darkness, the making of documentary, where they're like, this was awful and we all hated it. And Brando was like turned up really overweight and didn't do any of his lines. So that's why his like scenes are in the dark and, you know,
Starting point is 00:47:08 I'd see him except for his face and whatever and fascinating. Good stuff. Vietnam movies, you know what I mean? Yes. It was a hallowed era of terrifying. There was a lot of like 70s and 80s like just horrifying Vietnam movies. You know what I mean? Makes sense, yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:27 And I'm sure there were some, you know, some ones that glorified it as well, I'd imagine, but the ones that stick, you know. Yeah, what was I going to say? So, yeah, a big turning point for me, I think I watched like Butch Cassidy in like my teens and I'm like, this is like for me at the time, I'm like, this is a million years old, but it would have been like 30 years old at the time or whatever.
Starting point is 00:47:46 But I'm like, this is incredible. This is an incredible movie. And then I went like in a Paul Newman kick and I, you know, Sting and Cat in the Hot Tin Roof and like The Hustler and a bunch of other stuff. Is he in Magnificent Seven? I can't remember. I think he is.
Starting point is 00:48:04 You're Brunner. I have seen it, yeah. James Cob he is. You're Brinner. I have seen it. Yeah. James Coburn, probably. I want to say. I think Paul Newman is. He's not in The Seven, I don't think. I'm pretty sure he's not in it.
Starting point is 00:48:15 And then from there you could do like. No, I don't want to watch the remake. Chris Pratt. Oh, yeah. Denzel, he's in this. Ethan Hawke. You called that your most anticipated movie one year. I didn't watch it.
Starting point is 00:48:30 I still haven't watched it. I didn't see it either. Yeah. Yeah. So, yeah, and then. Steve McQueen is in. Yeah, that's what I thought. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:38 But, you know. Although I've got to tell you, recently I rewatched The Thomas Crown Affair. The original one. I don't think it's very good. No good? I don't think it's a bad movie. Got him. It's held up in certain circles because Steve McQueen,
Starting point is 00:48:50 as Thomas Crown, is very suave and sophisticated and he looks really good in the suits and he's very, you know, but it's so boring. How's Renee Russo in that? Yeah, she's great. Sexy. Doing a sexy dance or whatever happens in that. Or whatever.
Starting point is 00:49:03 But it's one of those movies where it's just like, you know, the heist is just men walking around in hats and holding briefcases. I hate that. It's no good. Maybe in 20 years I'll revisit it. But I think the remake's better. Yeah, the Brosnan one. You know what I haven't seen, but I do want to watch The Color of Money,
Starting point is 00:49:21 which is a sequel to – We're still cruising it, right? Yeah. The Hustler. The Hustler. The Hustler. Yeah. Which is really cool. What else have you got, Mason?
Starting point is 00:49:29 I mean, you did that one, but I could do another one if you want. Do another one. I've talked about this before, but I watched Moulin Rouge for the first time. Yes. And I'm like, this is the worst movie anybody's ever made. When was this? When you saw it for the first time? Yeah, I guess when it came out on VHS or DVD or whatever.
Starting point is 00:49:44 And I'm like this is fucking awful really just an assault on the senses even as a as a whenever they came out even as a sullen teen i'm like this is amazing this is came out in 2002 i want to say but um there's something about it like kind of stuck with me i was, I was a teen then. Yeah. A young teen. I was a teen. Was it really 2002? I would have said like 1997. No, I was pretty sure it was 2002. Yeah, because it was just after the prequel.
Starting point is 00:50:13 And then, and I can finish this sentence, then your wife made it. Oh, 2001. Then your wife made you watch it again. My wife made it. I knew it. No, I hadn't. This was in a very short space of time. And then there was something about it that kind of stuck with me. And I watched it again.
Starting point is 00:50:22 And I'm like, actually, this is incredible. It came out in 2001. Yeah. So, um, you would have been a teen in 2001. There you go. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:35 For some of that year, I guess. So, no, I think it's incredible. And look, I haven't watched it in a while, but I think like there was something about the remixing of the music originally that I just was like, why would you do any of this? This is, This is awful. What have you done to all this music? But I think it's actually quite an interesting like reinvention of like certain musics and twisting genres and things like that.
Starting point is 00:50:53 And, you know, it is a lot of cliches and all that kind of thing. Oh, you're turning me back around on it again. I hate it now. Pretty wonderful. Yeah. And, you know, 20 years old it turns out. Yeah. Who knew? 2001. So it's 20 years old it turns out. Who knew? 2001.
Starting point is 00:51:07 So it's 20 years. All right. Here's one that we also covered for Caravan of Garbage, The New Italian Job. Yes. Neither of us are Mark Wahlberg fans. That's true. I mean, we love the movie Two Guns.
Starting point is 00:51:19 I'm sure, yep, with Denzel. He's wearing a little hat. Did we talk about this in the – I don't know. No, we didn't. We talked about it. We did an episode prior to this. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:28 The Big Sandwich Classic Comic Book Club. For every episode we talk about a classic comic book. And we talked about Boom Studios. Yep. And Berserker, which is the Keanu Reeves created and co-written comic book. And Boom Studios, they produced the movie Two Guns. Yes. With Denzel and Mark Wahlberg.
Starting point is 00:51:47 Boy, did they. And neither of us wanted to see it. Anyway, The Italian Job, it's a very, very, very loose remake of the original one, which is just like this daft heist movie, which I always maintain and still maintain. It's really fun and Michael Caine's in it and it doesn't really make any sense. And it's mostly just stunt driving middies around Europe or whatever and Benny Hill's in it it's pretty cool and the new one is like it's basically a Fast and Furious movie before they became what they became I guess yeah it's sort of oh and Statham's in it it's sort of middle period Fast and Furious and Charlie's
Starting point is 00:52:23 Theron yeah it's sort of like like four and five, but better than those, I think. Probably better than four. I don't know if it's better than five. I quite like five, where they drag the safe maybe or something. Yeah, maybe. Yeah. But it's cool. It's pretty cool.
Starting point is 00:52:35 It's got a fun cast of characters. And I just really didn't like it at all when I first saw it. I think we saw it in cinemas together and we were just like, what was that? What would they do? And then for years they were talking about doing the Brazilian job as like a circle, which still hasn't happened to this very day. But it's interesting that that didn't take off
Starting point is 00:52:54 and the Fast and Furious movies did, and I'm sure we talked about that in the videos. Here's one that I think went the other way for me. Uh-oh. Here comes the haters. I had a fond memory. You're the number one h, here comes the haters. I had a fond memory. You're the number one hater. That's right.
Starting point is 00:53:07 I had a fond memory of Ghostbusters too. Yes. And then rewatching it. I'm like, nah, this isn't good. Um, this isn't good.
Starting point is 00:53:13 And a lot of people though, are very upset that we said Ghostbusters 2016 is better. Look, I think the only thing that makes that, like, if I had to say that, that one's got an edge in any way it's that the the original cast returns but beyond that yeah there's not really that much to it
Starting point is 00:53:30 really you know i can understand why you might be like oh it's all the characters that i love and they're back and they're doing a new adventure and that in itself i completely understand why that is appealing but it's just not very funny and the other thing is and this is like so i don't know some of them when i like this i don't know, some of them might not like this, I don't give a fuck about Ghostbusters. Like I don't care at all about Ghostbusters. It's a thing that I've always like sort of liked, I guess, but I know you've always been a massive fan of the first one,
Starting point is 00:53:57 but like they could bury it all and I don't give a shit. And I just still get comments today about Ghostbusters and I regret we ever talked about them ever for a single fucking second. Big mistake. Fuck Ghostbusters. All of it. Put it in the bin. Wow.
Starting point is 00:54:11 This is from David Weir in the Planet Broadcasting Great Bands Facebook group. And this is what I agree with. In the James Bond community, both on Her Majesty's Secret Service and Licence to Kill are now some of the better-liked Bond films, whereas at the time the films and lead actors were not liked at all. Now I really liked License to Kill the first time I saw it, but and maybe I mentioned this quite recently on the podcast, On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Starting point is 00:54:31 is so long and there's some stuff that should be cut out. But, if you go back and watch it, the fight sequences are frenetic in a way and in a good way that movies at the time were not. I watched a really interesting YouTube video like about that particular movie
Starting point is 00:54:52 and it mentions that specifically. What the director did is he filmed a fairly standard at the time action sequence like a fist fight in a hotel room or what have you or a punch up on a beach, something like that, from multiple different angles. And then he would, in the edit, he would cut between them very quickly and it gave this sense of movement and it's actually really good. It's cut together really well because they literally got the same footage from different angles. So it doesn't look janky when you cut. The video was from Eyebrow Cinema, it was on Her Majesty's Secret Service and the end of james bond and the reason that
Starting point is 00:55:28 that video is interesting because it says that that's the last time james bond really innovated like it's always been chasing trends since because if you look and i don't know i don't think that's strictly true because i think there are some things that it has invented like we say that but i don't think it's entirely true but then off the back of that um they they got connery back yes and they just seem to in that one in particular they went through the motions and it's kind of flat cinematography again in the fight scenes or whatever and you know he's like clearly there for a paycheck and he fucking hates everybody which you know whatever fair enough yeah but this was a very recent turnaround for me because we did all the Daniel Craig Bond movies and they were on a streaming service in Australia
Starting point is 00:56:10 that they've just disappeared from. I'm like, I've got one day left to watch one more Bond movie. I've got time to watch one more Bond movie before they disappear. And I'm like... And what did you watch? I watched No Man's Secret. No Man's Secret. I'm like, I'm going to give this one more try.
Starting point is 00:56:22 Yeah. So this was like in the last couple of months. I should watch that I still think though and you feel free to correct me if I'm wrong I don't think he's good I think it's probably a good movie but he's not good
Starting point is 00:56:36 I think he's still pretty good I think he definitely does have I think he's like charismatic but he's not like a good actor I think he's got I think but he's not like a good actor. I think he's got, I think maybe it's all in the face. Yeah. I think he's got maybe his resting face is too un-Bond-like. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:55 Or it's too different from the others. That's probably it as well. And what else I think is if he had have kept doing it, I think he probably would have gotten better. Yeah. Because he had the opportunity to sign on to like four or five and he didn't. That's true.
Starting point is 00:57:07 For some reason. And then he just mostly disappeared, you know. He's still alive though. That's true. So take that, Connery. Yeah. And more, I guess. And more.
Starting point is 00:57:18 I liked it. I liked more. Here's one for you. It's just a little quick one. I never liked Cars. And then, you know, recently you got kids and I'll rewatch Cars. I'm like, it's just a little quick one i never liked cars and then you know recently you got kids and i'll re-watch cars i'm like it's pretty good is it pretty good or was it it's pretty good was it 90 minutes we didn't have to talk to your kids no we talk no i figured we
Starting point is 00:57:35 chat oh yeah i'm like how's this bloody car it is like i know and i'm like we both know we both understand cinema so yeah there you go he'll have that appreciation of cinema that you never had he wants us to do like a podcast together and like you and me we already do one it's called the weekly planet it's very popular he doesn't know it won an award he doesn't know tell him it won an award he won't care tell him i've got 50 more of an award than he's got unless he's got some school awards he's got some school awards but yeah and got some school awards. Oh, good for him. But, yeah. And also he won like, I think he won the first one in his class for the year. Nice. And as a teacher, that one counts because towards the end of the year,
Starting point is 00:58:11 you give it to whoever's left because you have to. Yeah. Because that's bloody PC culture these days, isn't it? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Now, listen, you were very poorly behaved and you haven't learned anything, but you are the last person in this class. And I don't have to see you next year uh but here's a here's a chocolate bar with peanuts in it and i know you're allergic
Starting point is 00:58:30 but uh we might just record some stuff together and just like i'm not i wouldn't release it but i think it would be a fun thing i think we should release it and then everyone should vote on it to win the people's choice at work no i don't want to expose any more of him to the public. Especially if he loses. That's true. That would be. Especially if he loses to somebody on Nova FM. Whatever.
Starting point is 00:58:50 Yeah. He's at an absolute hot streak. We don't want to break that. Anyway, Cars is pretty good. All right. I haven't seen Cars 2. I've seen some of it's not good. Also, Cars 3, also good.
Starting point is 00:59:00 What else, Mason? Great question. Great questions. I agree. I'll just quickly say Batman and Robin. I don't think it's like what I would look for in a Batman movie, but it is unashamedly. Go on, yes.
Starting point is 00:59:15 It's like the 60s Batman made in the 90s and it's silly and stupid. Well, I loved the 60s Batman as a kid. I loved the TV series. It was on after school. I loved the movie, which was probably on Channel 9. It was probably on Channel 9. It was on after Apocalypse Now. It started at 2 a.m.
Starting point is 00:59:31 That's right. But then the Burton Batman movies came out, and I'm like, no. And it was probably an aspect of being a tween or what have you. I'm like, oh, this old stuff sucks. This sucks. It's all stupid. He should be in an all black costume. He should shoot a gun.
Starting point is 00:59:52 He should shoot missiles at the Joker. He should kill a man. He should hit a man in the nuts with a nut hitting machine. That's what it should be. It should be cool and serious like the Tim Burton movies. But again, obviously I've turned around again. And some of that old Batman stuff is great. Oh, it's terrific.
Starting point is 01:00:08 And look, I've said this multiple times on this show. He's doing all the Batman stuff. He does all the stuff. He's a detective. He's Bruce Wayne. He's got weird little gadgets. He's got the Batmobile. He's got all his mates.
Starting point is 01:00:20 It's just Batman. He's got all his mates. He's got all his mates. That's good stuff. What else have we got all his mates. Oh, that's good stuff. What else have we got? Great question. While you're giving that a scroll. Did they do Bane 66 in the comics?
Starting point is 01:00:30 They did in the comics, I believe. I think they might have just done him as a wrestler, but I don't know. Yeah, I think Bane would have just been a regular wrestler. I don't think I've read really any of that. I think, we've talked about this recently, I think the Mask of Zorro, I remember seeing it at the time and being like, yeah, this is good, whatever. But like having watched it more recently. That Banderas one. Yeah, the first one in particular.
Starting point is 01:00:48 It's incredible, man. Yeah, I didn't like it at all. And then I think I mentioned Patrick Willems did a video on explaining why it's great. And I'm like, oh, he's right. Yeah. This is okay. And it's Martin Campbell who did Cinnabar Island, Goldeneye. It's just very
Starting point is 01:01:03 good. I mean, if you want to see Antonio Banderas just bronzed, like an absolute madman playing a man in Mexico or whatever, you're going to love it. I also think that, what was I going to say about that? I love Zorro, and I know I've said that before, but I think Zorro is awesome. I think he's really cool. I'm a big fan of Zorro.
Starting point is 01:01:25 Do you think Zorro will ever come back? I hope so. I really do. Actually, I think I mentioned this last time we talked about Zorro. I bought that Zorro Django comic. I kind of thought maybe that would somehow springboard off to something. Yeah, well, I think Tarantino was also talking about maybe even making that one day. And imagine like Antonio Bera is coming back and
Starting point is 01:01:45 doing that as well i think how cool would that be it'd be amazing and also he's puss in boots and that's a fun little reference oh i didn't even mention he's zorro cat that's true i should have i should have mentioned this when i talked about uh spawn yep and oh yeah now uh spawn sucks it's so bad like as as we as i mentioned on the podcast yeah good about it how's the suit and the makeup on him though when he's all scarred it's not bad that's probably the best part yeah um but at the time i'm like this is incredible he's got guns and chains and we'd never shoot green fire and he's got at the start of the movie like because he's an assassin before he can become spawn he's the world's greatest assassin like he he. He's got to kill this guy,
Starting point is 01:02:27 so he blows up his private plane with this rocket launcher thing. It's like this multi-warhead rocket launcher, and it's got this cool heads-up display. But as an adult, I'm like, I could have done that. It's like setting up a VCI. You just put it there, and then you push a couple of buttons, and then it launches itself. I could have done it.
Starting point is 01:02:45 Give me the bloody million-dollar contract. Give me the Spawn costume. Send me to hell. I'll do itself. I could have done it. Give me the bloody million dollar contract. Give me the sport costume. Send me to hell. I'll do it. I'll do it. How does the violator look? Good. Not bad.
Starting point is 01:02:51 Yeah? It's not CGI, is it? No. When it's a monster, I mean. I know the clown makeup's incredible. When it's a monster, it's CGI, yes. But when he's the clown, that's actually pretty good. Leguizamo carries that movie.
Starting point is 01:03:06 Leguizamo and Martin Sheen carry that movie. It's a maggoty pizza, I remember. I also remember at the time, though, thinking, and I don't even remember if I loved it or not. I don't think I loved it, but I hadn't seen anything like that in particular. Maybe that's why you liked it, because all those extreme things from the comics were now being translated. Yeah, they never would have dared before that. But it was bad.
Starting point is 01:03:23 You didn't realize that. Yeah, it's really bad. The Mal Bolger, who's the big – folks, we covered this on Mission Zaxx, Leguizamarama. But the Mal Bolger, like the big demon from hell, when you see him, his mouth doesn't move when he talks. Oh, that's right. He's like –
Starting point is 01:03:40 And he's got the voice of Dr. Claw maybe? Yeah, something like that. Yeah, that sucks. It's very bad. It looks like... It looks like the... Did you ever see the film clip for the 1995 remix of Here's Johnny? Yeah, it looks like...
Starting point is 01:03:54 By Hocus Pocus or whatever it's called. Yeah, that's exactly where I was going with that. I think... We really... Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, it's about that era, isn't it? Yeah, it sure is. Anyway, very, very bad.
Starting point is 01:04:02 Very bad. Chewing some scenery. Michael J. White does like two big kicks. Wow. He's a big kick guy. He's a big kick guy, but like even more kicks. He could be. He's a bigger kick guy than Kick Gurry, the Australian actor. He was in that Tom Cruise movie or whatever.
Starting point is 01:04:18 He keeps killing himself. This is a pretty obvious one, but I think it's only gotten better and maybe it's more a sign of the times. But Children of Men was very good when, but I think it's only gotten better and maybe it's more a sign of the times. But Children of Men was very good when I saw it and it's still, no, it's better than then. It's true. Can we go with things that were good at the time but now they're even better?
Starting point is 01:04:35 Sure. Okay, great. Have you got one? No. I can think of one probably. But just like that movie is also, it's shot and designed in a way where it looks like it could have come out like last year. That's true, yeah.
Starting point is 01:04:49 Just God, it just looks so good. By good you mean bad. Everybody looks bad. Yeah, it's a bad looking movie. It's terrible. But it's just, what a movie. It's incredible. And it's of the post-apocalypse movies, it's probably the truest.
Starting point is 01:05:04 Probably the truest. Because they're all still going to work. Exactly. They're still going to work even though it's of the post-apocalypse movies, it's probably the truest. Probably the truest. Because they're all still going to work. That's right. Exactly. They're still going to work even though it's all coming apart. I feel like we can't go past without, I know a lot of people mention this, without mentioning the prequels. Prequels to what, James?
Starting point is 01:05:16 Prequels to The Matrix, the animatrix. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. No, prequels to the Star Wars movies. I have definitely come around on. Are we going to cover the Animatrix? Yeah, we will. That's coming up. We haven't recorded it yet, but we will for Carrying Around in Garbage.
Starting point is 01:05:30 Because I have a joke. I've got one. Tell me the joke and then I'll do it. No, I'm going to save it for them. I'll see if I can think of the joke beforehand. You won't. I'll try to inception that joke out of you. You'll never think of the joke.
Starting point is 01:05:42 Best joke anyone's ever thought of. You're going to do it up top. You're going to drop it randomly. It's going to be in the top. Okay. Yeah. Great. I never think of the joke. Best joke anyone's ever thought of. You're going to do it up top. You're going to drop it randomly. It's going to be in the top. Okay. Yeah. Great. I can't wait.
Starting point is 01:05:51 I was going to say. So the prequels, and this is actually something that Chris Stuckman mentioned in the video. The Star Wars prequels. The Star Wars prequels, yes. And I've definitely come around on this. Isn't it an amazing cultural thing that you can just say the prequels and people know? Maybe not everybody. Yeah. Most people. Most people know. Maybe not everybody. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:06:05 Most people. Most people. Most people we know. Yeah, well, you know. Maybe not some of your mates. No, not some of my mates. If you said to Claire the prequels, would she know what you're talking about? She might, actually, yeah, maybe.
Starting point is 01:06:18 But if you asked your son the prequels. No, he wouldn't know. Your infant daughter? She might know. Yeah, she might know. She seems very clever. I was saving Empire Strikes Back for my son, and then I was walking him over to school one day,
Starting point is 01:06:29 and he's like, did you know that Darth Vader is Luke Skywalker's father? And I'm like, who told you that? And I'm like, oh, this kid from my class. I'm like, son of a bitch. It's still happening. That's amazing. I thought for a second there maybe they did the thing where they wheel out the TV and they watched Empire Strikes Back.
Starting point is 01:06:44 Oh, right. That would be too young for kids, yeah. Now they did the thing where they wheel out the TV and they watched Empire Strikes Back. Oh, right. Oh, that would be too, yeah. Now they have electronic whiteboards. They don't need to wheel out TVs anymore. They play Empire Strikes Back on the electronic whiteboard. Yeah, exactly. Really?
Starting point is 01:06:52 Yeah, yeah. Whoa. Yeah. Do they have an electronic whiteboard? I can't remember. I haven't been to his classroom much because I'm not allowed to because of COVID.
Starting point is 01:06:59 Not for any other reason. I have been in there to help out with like reading groups and things like that, but obviously there's been measures in place due to the pandemic. Just stop that, but obviously there's been measures in place. Just stop you coming in. It's just measures in place at the school to prevent
Starting point is 01:07:10 you coming into the school. Just some measures. Just standard measures. That's right. A lot of dads aren't allowed to come to the school. I've had that scenario as a teacher where dads aren't allowed to come to school, and it's gets a bit sticky. I'll tell you that much. Anyway, scenarios with teaching where like dad's not allowed to come to school and it's uh gets gets
Starting point is 01:07:25 a bit sticky i'll tell you that much yeah anyway um i did a video a few years back about what george lucas was going to do for his sequels and i talked about how like in the lead up to that how like how he was basically harassed out of making any more movies and also disney didn't want him to do it and they threw away his ideas and etc but you gotta like you gotta give full credit to him that he absolutely made the movies in particular the first one exactly what he wanted because i i think by the third one rolling around i think he was listening to other people more i think he was implementing like other ideas and like i um but i i mean i still think there's like a solid idea in all of those movies like that run through.
Starting point is 01:08:06 The execution is not great story-wise. And I think all of that has also been bolstered by all the stuff that has happened around it, like the expanded media, which again doesn't necessarily involve him in particular. But, you know, they still obviously resonate with people. And I definitely have a higher opinion now than I have held. And we're going to probably do them when that Obi-Wan show starts. We'll cover them, won't we?
Starting point is 01:08:28 Anyway, I think you still hate them. Oh, yeah, definitely. I still hate them. I think they suck. I mean, there's elements to them. Yeah, yeah. That 40-minute pod race you really like. I love that.
Starting point is 01:08:37 It's good. He thinks it's good. Yeah. How do you feel about like kids' movies that you liked and now you don't like, for example? Because I've got a couple examples. Give me an example because honestly I'm drawing a blank of like any kids' movie.
Starting point is 01:08:50 Sure. Transformers is still great probably. Is it? Yes. Is it? Yes. What about Ghostbusters, the kids' movie? Yes, it's still good.
Starting point is 01:08:58 Yeah, we talked about it. It is a good movie. So E.T., for me as a kid, I never loved it. I'm like this is dreary and sad and he's alien friend dies and he leaves like this is miserable yeah no i'm still against that movie yeah but i'm against anything that's i don't i don't think kids movies have to be dreary it's really good because it's not just that like there's so much else around it and it's about loss and grief and like there's little things like his father's not around and like it's not like and your dad left
Starting point is 01:09:23 and you know what what he used to say it's just don's not like and your dad left and you know what he used to say it's just ladies don't talk about i think that's cool you know it's cool is what i'm saying but then you look at something like et's the coolest movie it's so cool it's great it's really good and and that's why i also think bumblebee is good because it's just et yeah bumblebee is just et yeah're right. Bumblebee is just E.T. Yeah, but with a gun. With a gun. He's got a gun this time. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:49 He's lost his memory, but he'll get them back and he'll kill everybody. I think E.T. would have been better if at the end of E.T., like E.T.'s nemesis shows up and E.T. wraps its neck around it with a big chain and chokes it to death. That would have happened at the end of Bumblebee. It's a good movie. Yeah. But then on the flip side of that, I think the Goonies is like unwatchable.
Starting point is 01:10:07 It's just kids screaming at each other. I haven't seen it in such a long time. I don't know. What was the last time you saw the Goonies? Like a few years, maybe four or five years ago maybe. Yeah, it's just like, and I can see why kids like it and why I liked it because, you know, it starts off and, you know, one kid ziplines to another kid's house
Starting point is 01:10:24 or whatever and there's a pirate ship and they go on a little underground adventure and Josh Brolin's there, you know, it starts off and, you know, one kid ziplines to another kid's house or whatever and there's a pirate ship and they go on a little underground adventure and Josh Brolin's there, you know. It's all that stuff. Yeah. Look, I can't think of any off the top of my head, but probably any movie that starts with a sequence of kids doing gadgety stuff, like Rube Goldberg style gadgety stuff, that would have been absolutely
Starting point is 01:10:42 my cup of tea. Like the treehouse or whatever in like Sandlot or whatever. Yeah, right. Stuff like that. It's like super cool. Sandlot I think holds up. Oh, really? Except for that bit where he kisses that woman.
Starting point is 01:10:53 You shouldn't do that. Shouldn't do that, I reckon. That's what I reckon. I got one here from Brian in the Great Mates group. He said this. This is what he said. Go on. I grew up thinking The NeverEnding Story was my favorite fantasy movie ever.
Starting point is 01:11:05 It's been a while since I saw it and I recently showed it to my kids. Wow, it's not good, you guys. That's true. It's not great. It's really bizarre but in a disjointed way. Okay. It's kind of, and that horse drowns and I don't know. It's true.
Starting point is 01:11:23 If you love sadness, you know, you probably wouldn't be a fan of that, I guess. Look, I've mentioned this in the podcast, but Blade Runner, I didn't like it at the time. Oh, yeah. I had to watch it for school. Yeah. You have mentioned that, haven't you? That is a good movie.
Starting point is 01:11:36 But I think the sequel is better. It is. Oh, it is. But would the sequel, no, it would probably still hold up. If you'd never seen the first one, I think the second one would still. Oh, totally. Yeah. Ollie says, Babe 2 Pig.
Starting point is 01:11:51 Pig and the Electric Boogaloo I thought was a cash grab, but now I just realised it's just as much of a masterpiece as the original in its own right. I need to watch that. Like for years I have avoided Babe 2 and at the time like I heard like it's not good and I can't believe he left the farm first ones about the farm whatever but apparently it's very good yeah you seen babe no wait no babe's great man it's a good movie you should watch it okay you got any more from that
Starting point is 01:12:21 list cuz I've got some some ones here from people I can rattle off okay some rattling my from Andrew who says this is a good one I agree with actually mission You got any more from that list? Because I've got some ones here from people I can rattle off. Okay, do some rattling, my friend. From Andrew who says, this is a good one I agree with actually, Mission Impossible would be my choice. When I was younger, I didn't get it, but we were watching 1 to 6. I believe that it has gotten better film to film. I do think that Snake Eyes is ever going to happen, lol. That's next week.
Starting point is 01:12:42 We talked about this. Yeah. We talked about this. There's just not enough time this week. Yeah. We run out of time we're we're running on bonus well we're well into this yeah that mission impossible we have seen it though yeah we could give an extended i'd love to yeah we'd love to but there's simply no time yeah um that first that's not the one that you'd enjoy as a kid, that first one, is it? Yeah, no, absolutely. It's definitely one of the better ones, though.
Starting point is 01:13:07 Yeah, absolutely. And, again, I think I was absolutely on, like, I did enjoy it at the time, but I have new appreciation for it now. But you're right, as a kid, it's character over action. There is certainly spectacular action. There's the helicopter chase. There's all kinds of stuff. But there is a lot of. Do you think they could ever go back to that? Yeah. There's the helicopter chase. There's all kinds of stuff. But there is a lot of.
Starting point is 01:13:25 Do you think they could ever go back to that? Yeah. Or. Yeah. Okay. Maybe not with Tom Cruise. Yeah. Maybe they spin off another Impossible Mission team.
Starting point is 01:13:34 Oh, the Jeremy Renner variety hour or whatever. Jeremy Renner. How does he do it? How does he do it? Oh, he listens to a soundtrack of his own songs. Okay. In earbuds. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:13:42 And then he does his thing. He does. He Jeremy Renners. Yeah. Okay. He Jeremy Renners Then he does his thing. He does, he Jeremy Renner's. Yeah, okay. He Jeremy Renner's about. All right. This is from Ryan who says, Spawn. As a teen, I thought it was amazing.
Starting point is 01:13:50 There it is. Ten years ago, I couldn't get over how bad it was. It is. I'm with you. Joshua. There's a few here. This is an interesting one, I think. And we're going to have Star Wars discourse for the rest of our lives, Mason.
Starting point is 01:14:01 Are you ready? No, I think it's going to stop. 2022 is going to be the year of no Star Wars. Really? Yeah, I think so. I think there's like multiple Star Wars shows. Yeah, but we aren't going to talk about them our lives, Mason. No, I think it's going to stop. 2022 is going to be the year of no Star Wars. Really? Yeah, I think so. I think there's like multiple Star Wars shows out there. Yeah, but people aren't going to talk about them. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 01:14:09 That's my hit prediction. Okay. People are just going to be like, I'm choosing. I don't want to. I don't feel like it. Yeah. Yeah. I'm with you, actually.
Starting point is 01:14:17 Some of you will be like, did you see Obi-Wan Kenobi? And people will be like, I don't want to say. I don't want to say. I refuse to engage. Yeah, I won't. Anyway say. I don't want to say. I refuse to engage. Anyway, Joshua says the Force Awakens. And then Disney Plus will be like, we don't know what the numbers are. We don't know. We can't.
Starting point is 01:14:32 Can't tell you. Is it better than Red Notice? Probably not. And then Netflix. Yeah, and then Netflix is like, 500 million hours. The Force Awakens, Joshua says, not because it was a retread of A New Hope, but because it essentially set up a sequel trilogy to fail with bad storytelling.
Starting point is 01:14:48 When I first saw it, I thought I was fine with it, but six years of hindsight, I can see that it also shifted from the Star Wars format of telling complete stories in a single movie. It was all set up with no payoff. Yeah, I think as I stand by this in terms of like a reboot that also basically retreads a lot of familiar Star Wars things, I think it succeeds in that way.
Starting point is 01:15:10 But as a trilogy, that trilogy does not hold together. I agree. And I think that's mostly because of the third one. Some would disagree. I know. I know. And that's absolutely fine. But I think-
Starting point is 01:15:24 James, get all your Star Wars thoughts out. No, I've said it all before. No, because one, really think about it because next year- No, I've got- Nobody's going to be wanting to talk about Star Wars, as I've said. What's the date? Sorry, this is the 6th. Okay.
Starting point is 01:15:35 So do you have some more thoughts? Yeah. Okay, you've got- I've got a few more weeks to get them out. But yeah, what do you think in terms of The Force Awakens now? Oh, when was the last? Did we watch it for a we probably did a commentary probably 2016 probably oh then i haven't watched it since then uh i mean i think
Starting point is 01:15:52 like everybody's good in it as well yeah for sure yeah and it's fun and it's great character like great character interaction fin and poe yep that that good dynamic harrison ford's like genuinely good in it i like ray and ben solo and all'm going to say as of 2016 when we did a commentary on it and we spoke over it and we probably weren't paying that much attention, I'm going to say still holds up. Yep. Great stuff. For whatever you think of it, right?
Starting point is 01:16:15 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, cool. This one's from Byron who says, fans, including myself, have been really hard on Her Majesty's Secret Service. And that's great because now I think it's one of the best Bond films ever. Yeah, that's right. I've think it's one of the best Bond films ever. That's right. I've got one here from Jacob who says American Beauty. I used to think it was really good, but now it's just cringe.
Starting point is 01:16:33 I would say, look, having not watched American Beauty recently but thinking about the things that are in that, that's probably true. Like Kevin Spacey. Like Kevin Spacey and the girl that he sort of has an affair with or whatever. Yeah. Yeah, there's a lot going on in that movie, isn't there, Mason? Yes.
Starting point is 01:16:52 Wow. Wait, did I make that movie and I didn't? Yeah, you made it, didn't you? Yeah. Yeah, that's true. There you go. Anything else or should we give it a bloody wrap up, mate? Let's give it a bloody wrap up.
Starting point is 01:17:01 Cool. Thanks, everybody, for their suggestions. I agree. People probably have more. We can revisit this at some point. But we can't talk about Star Wars. If we're doing another episode on this after 2022, we're not talking
Starting point is 01:17:12 about Star Wars. We shan't engage in the public discourse, of which there will be none. That's exactly right. So it's not going to matter anyway. Yeah, exactly. That's right. Kate mentioned, I would like to know where Mason currently stands in regards to Looper, please. When do we go back to Looper?
Starting point is 01:17:27 Couldn't tell you. No, I couldn't tell you. No, still bad. We might have done a... Look, with distance, I'm probably softer on it than I would have been when it was fresh. Yes. But if we ever do Caravan of Garbage on it again, I'll... Actually, we can end on this.
Starting point is 01:17:42 Is this true? Sean says, Wonder Woman 84, you guys had it as best movie ever. Since then, every time it comes up, you guys have said it's not good. So we'd love to see why and when you guys change your minds. Cheers. Did we give that a best movie ever?
Starting point is 01:17:54 We probably gave it a best movie ever in the sense of it wasn't the worst movie ever made. Yeah. Look, I also haven't returned to Wonder Woman 84, but I bet if I did, I would like it less. Oh, yeah, definitely. Like 100%. And again, I can't remember what I said,
Starting point is 01:18:09 but I just want to reiterate whatever I did say. The subtext was I thought it was bad. Yeah. And you were joking it was a parody. Yeah, it was definitely a parody. Yeah, yeah. And I said it in Minecraft, so it doesn't count. Okay, okay.
Starting point is 01:18:21 Okay. Let's go to the next segment of the show. It's a very popular segment. Do you think it is? Yeah, it's probably the reason why we did win our most popular podcast that year. Probably because of the segment What We Read. That's right. What we're going to read.
Starting point is 01:18:34 You said it too early, Mason. I haven't got the... You can cut out the dead space. No, I can't. I'll play the game Dead Space while you take your sweet time. They're remaking that. Did you see that? Yes. Yeah. I reckon you probably don't need to. That game probably is fine your sweet time. They're remaking that. Did you see that? Yes.
Starting point is 01:18:45 Yeah. You probably don't need to. That game probably is fine on its own. Anyway, here we go. I'm doing a thing. West World. My God, it's West World time. And not a moment too soon.
Starting point is 01:19:00 Sorry, it's what we're reading time where we talk about things that we've been reading. That's very true. Yeah, as mentioned, we did go through Berserker. That's up on bigsand what we're reading time where we talk about things that we've been reading. That's very true. Yeah, as mentioned, we did go through Berserker. That's up on bigsandwich.co right now where we do a book club on that very particular comic,
Starting point is 01:19:13 which has Keanu Reeves, curator involved. But we don't just talk about the comic. We also talk about there's a bunch of like controversy surrounding it in terms of the way that it came to be.
Starting point is 01:19:23 Yeah. And Kickstarter and a bunch of other stuff. And everybody involved was killed. Everybody died in a big fire, but it's suspected that it was a murder fire, wasn't it? Yeah, Keanu Reeves did it. Keanu Reeves did it, yeah. He came out of it scot-free.
Starting point is 01:19:37 Yeah. He was like, I was at the centre of this fire and everybody died, but I didn't die. Yep. Wow. And who's to say what happened, he said. Yeah. What else are you reading, though? I've been watching just stuff on YouTube.
Starting point is 01:19:50 Oh, yeah. Which is good, I think. YouTube is good. It is good. Since last time we've mentioned him, Noah Caldwell-Gervais has put out, I think, two videos. Oh, yeah. He's put up a very brief one quite recently on Forza Horizon 5,
Starting point is 01:20:04 what makes it so compelling. That is a brief one hour and 16 minutes, and he also has a thorough look at Resident Evil, which I'm getting through slowly because it's seven and a half hours long. Oh, my God, all the games? Yeah, that's right. I'm adding that to my list. Also, I've been watching, and one of them came up on my suggested videos.
Starting point is 01:20:23 How is that seven hours long? It's because of the length of it. That's crazy. I've been watching this series because one popped up and I'm like, oh, this is kind of fun. I'll give this a go. And then I've just basically watched the whole thing. On GameSpot's YouTube channel, they've teamed up with a museum
Starting point is 01:20:41 in the UK called the Royal Armouries. Okay. And the curator, who I think his name is, Jonathan Ferguson, I think. Jonathan Ferguson, question mark? Maybe it's Jonathan Ferguson. Hang on. Give me one second. That's bloody one second's already passed.
Starting point is 01:20:57 No, no, no, no, no, no. You should have said give me more than one second. I'll give you 50,000 seconds. That's way too long. No, no, no, no. That's the amount of time I'm going to need. Let me just calculate how long that is in minutes and hours. It is Jonathan Ferguson.
Starting point is 01:21:09 Okay. So, yeah, they get the cure. 50,000 seconds just flew by. No, right? Because I'm so compelling as an orator. That's nearly 14 hours. Yeah, I know, right? Wow.
Starting point is 01:21:20 Spurned right through it. But the curator of this Royal royal armories is uh shown various videos from like a lot of first-person shooters and like gun games oh yeah and he sort of evaluates their uh like their their the the accuracy yeah or like you know are the guns based on real guns are they kind of uh you, how accurate are they to the real life? Surgeons react to surgeons. Yes, but a lot of those ones, you've got to pick the right person for those. Because oftentimes it's like a former criminal evaluates heist scenes in movies
Starting point is 01:21:56 and it's just a guy going, no, we wouldn't have done that. That laser isn't a real laser, I reckon. No, we would have used a stick. But this guy, it's a lot of interesting information. laser isn't a real laser yeah no we wouldn't we would have used a stick you know stuff but this guy it's it's it's a lot of interesting information i wouldn't have used a mission impossible mask i would have just cut that man's throat i reckon that's right that would be interesting but uh but uh so he sort of goes through them all and uh like it's a lot of it's quite it's a lot of interesting information like how guns work and all that sort of stuff. But it's also like he's sort of cognizant of the idea of like
Starting point is 01:22:30 a lot of this stuff, you know, a gun in a game has to be kind of cool before it's realistic. Totally, yeah. So he's not like, this sucks. Yeah, he's got a dry wit about him, which I appreciate. How long is it? Oh, there's just a bunch of them. There's like a bunch of them.
Starting point is 01:22:43 And he goes through like, you know, Counter-Strike and Halo and Team Fortress. Are there real guns in Halo? No. Wow. I feel like a pair of two real guns. Oh, wow. And he's got a lot of guns. If you're just like a man being like, it's like this gun.
Starting point is 01:22:56 Yeah. He's got a gun. I guess I like that. Yeah, it's pretty good. It's also what I found most interesting about it is that a lot of guns that I've seen in movies that I think of like sort of, you know, of like they're sort of epitomize a certain era. Like, oh, this is a gun from the 80s. Like a Dirty Harold gun. Like a Dirty Harold gun, for example.
Starting point is 01:23:16 Or like, you know, oh, this is a very like, you know, modern, like this epitomizes the 2010s or whatever. A lot of them it's like, you know, you're like, oh, this is a gun of, you know, that I think of from the 90s. And he's like, when this was first manufactured in 1974. And I'm like, what the heck? That's wrong. It's Rubicon's gun. You're wrong. You're wrong.
Starting point is 01:23:34 And I leave it in the comments. I'm like, you're obviously wrong about this. That's interesting. Yeah. All right. I also, I've just downloaded it and I haven't read it yet. Maniac in New York. Oh, The Bronx is Burning?
Starting point is 01:23:48 Is that what it's called? Yeah. That's exactly it. So I'm looking forward to getting back into that. I wasn't real, I didn't realize it was starting again so soon. Yeah. It's about a serial killer, but people are like, they've learned to live with it.
Starting point is 01:23:58 We've talked about it before. We actually did a book club on it. Yeah, we did. Should we go to the next segment of the show? Yes. I'm happy to do it now if you are. I'm ready to go because it's letters all right then i played letters theme through my phone people may not know that but it's ready to go it's ready t ready to go and i can simply click
Starting point is 01:24:12 it yep and then it would play the theme through my microphone and would go into this recording device we have here it comes out to your microphone yes i don't know it's the opposite speaker yeah okay thank you oh look i'm just happy to contribute. Okay. Do you think maybe there's a combined microphone speaker situation? Oh, I think they're two different units if I had to guess because I think there's two different ports. They're not called ports. But conceivably they could be the same and I'd be right.
Starting point is 01:24:35 Conceivably could they be the same? Yeah, and I'd be right. Yes. Checkmates. Letters. The classic one was. Letters, oh letters We love you, some letters They're only a take away
Starting point is 01:24:50 I know they're here right now, we're going to do letters We're time for the letters segment of the show A very famous segment of the show Which I think actually netted us the most popular podcast award In whatever year we won it in, I believe Do you think it was my seamless playing of the letters theme through the microphone of my phone? Do you think that's what it was?
Starting point is 01:25:10 I don't like this, Mason. I should never have conceded. You shouldn't have said anything. You should have just shut up. If you do want to reach the show, you can just hashtag Weekly Planet Pod on Twitter, which a lot of people tend to do. That's right. Other people, maybe they've got something with a bit more length
Starting point is 01:25:25 and girth to proclaim. Don't email that in. They can head over to sender at Gmail to weeklyplanetpod at gmail.com. Isn't that correct? That's correct. Now, last week we – You started something, I think. We settled a regional dispute.
Starting point is 01:25:46 Yes. I think we're going to do it. Some people have sent in some more, which I think both Jake of Weekly Planet Memes fame and also Lewis emailed in. I'll read from Lewis's email. Furthering the cuisine discourse of last week, I want you two to give your almighty perspective on this. In England, one of the main indications of the North-South divide
Starting point is 01:26:08 is the pronunciation of the word S-C-O-N-E, the dry biscuit you put jam and cream on. A Northerner myself, I say scone, the grammatically correct way, like phone, and the miscreants of the South say scone. It's disgusting. We'd love to hear your input on this vastly unimportant and boring British food. It's scone. It's definitely scone. It's disgusting. We'd love to hear your input on this vastly unimportant and boring British food. It's scone.
Starting point is 01:26:26 It's definitely scone. It's scone. Yeah. I mean, we are technically from the South, I guess, as well. Yeah, we are. Yeah, but it's scone unless you're making fun of posh people. Or people in Adelaide who probably say scone. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:26:37 You go, ooh, I'm going to have a scone. Oh, let me just put this scone in the basket of my penny farthing. Oh, I'll put some caviar on my scone. Do you think I could have this scone while I'm making potpourri? I don't know. What Irish people do. That's what they do. That's what Elon Musk does.
Starting point is 01:26:55 Yeah, that's what Elon Musk does. He gets Hawkeye haircuts and he makes potpourri and it's his scone. A few people have asked us about that haircut. What do you think? I hate it. It's bad. Dreadful. It's the worst version of that. I don't think it's his go. A few people have asked us about that haircut. What do you think? I hate it. It's bad. Dreadful. It's the worst version of that.
Starting point is 01:27:06 I don't think it's technically the Hawkeye haircut. I think it's sort of a muff on his head. No, it's the worst. That's a man who's broken up getting a haircut, I think. Yeah, it sure is. God. I think somebody said this, and maybe even you said it to me. You can't really buy, like, you can't buy youth, obviously,
Starting point is 01:27:22 and you can't buy cool. You know what i mean because that is not cool yeah yeah look just jeans and t-shirt man come on yeah a little cravat on and everything you're not johnny dip what are you doing that's true maybe more rings though you could wear more rings totally wear two rings on every finger yeah anyway i think he's normal 20 rings we both think he's normal but i think it'd be normal or more normal and cooler with 20 rings. We both think he's normal. We think he's normal, but I think he'd be more normal and cooler with 20 rings. Yeah, that's right. If anybody knows him.
Starting point is 01:27:48 Yeah. I reckon he could do 40 rings. If he did two rings a finger. Yeah, yeah, yeah. What do you reckon? Yeah, I reckon he could do 40 rings. Yeah. Yeah, nice.
Starting point is 01:27:57 He's normal. Yeah, that's true. Yeah, yeah. Jake from Weekly Planet Memes also says one side of the UK pronounces like scone, the other side pronounces like scone. It's gone. Okay. There you go. It's gone. Yeah, I agree. It's from Ninja Dude. You should follow Weekly Planet Memes though. Oh yeah, absolutely.
Starting point is 01:28:12 Give them a buddy because they're always doing a meme. They're always doing a meme. This is from Ninja Dude 3 who says hashtag Weekly Planet Pod. Or Ninja Dude 1 and 2 taken. Yeah, probably. Yeah, probably actually. Yeah, I mean it's pretty good to even get 3 don't you think? Yeah, it's like getting bronze at the bloody podcast awards. It's not his actual like Twitter handle, but, you know, that's fine.
Starting point is 01:28:29 You can change it whatever you want. Which actor played Clark Kent the best? Not as Superman. My fave is Chris Reeves. This is a whole different kettle of fish, isn't it, Mason? Yeah. Chris Reeves is good because I think what he established yes was that he like changed the manner is it wasn't like the mannerisms and speech patterns and like
Starting point is 01:28:52 you you really believed that this guy like i mean in i guess in the movie context that he could not possibly be the same guy that's true why would you do this? Yeah, that's true, yeah. I wonder because I feel like Tyler Herklin who is Clark Kent in the new Superman and Lois series, is he doing a subtler version of that? Yeah, he's not that different. Yeah, like if you put them both in the same room, you'd be like, oh, yeah, you're Superman actually. Yeah, but I think also I guess the difference with him is he's not working at the Daily Planet where they're constantly covering Superman.
Starting point is 01:29:29 Oh, that's true, yes. And I think also like with him, because you see him in a flashback when he's at the Daily Planet and he's kind of a bit more fumbling because there's Clark Kent, Smallville Clark Kent, there's City Clark Kent, and then when he goes back to Smallville, he does these – that's kind of more who he is. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So I think that's what he's doing.
Starting point is 01:29:47 Does that make sense? Yes. Yeah. Because you even see that in the Chris Reeve movies. When he goes back to Smallville, he's more what he was at high school than what he becomes in the city. So who else have we got, though? I think Brandon Routh is good as well.
Starting point is 01:30:02 I mean, he's doing like the Chris Reeve thing a lot, but I think that's not to be discounted. Henry Cavill, we don't really see a lot of that. I think there's some like untapped kind of potential there, but I like how I still love that scene in the bar where that dude shoves him and he's just like, I think that's great. It just doesn't move. And then he ruins that guy's life.
Starting point is 01:30:24 Yeah. That's cool. It's pretty good, right think that's great. He just doesn't move. And then he ruins that guy's life. Yeah. That's cool. It's pretty good, right? Yeah. I don't know. Yeah. Probably Chris Reeve because of what he did for the character. What else, Mason?
Starting point is 01:30:33 Got any local disputes? Let's find out. I've got another one here from Grape Juice Pictures. How about that? It says, I know you boys weren't too fond of it, but surely The Irishman is the best movie to feature two actors who have played Al Capone. Hashtag Weekly Planet Pod.
Starting point is 01:30:49 And that's probably true. But I don't remember. Yeah, I still think it's Venom, a movie I didn't like. Yeah, a movie you didn't like. That's interesting. Look, we've got an email from Dr. Sean Stein Smith. Oh, a doctor. I just want to be – I will read out only some of this.
Starting point is 01:31:04 But it says, hello, James and Mace. First of all, huge fan of all your content. You really helped boil my spirits during the last couple of years with all the negative news swirling around. That said, this cannot stand. The answer is Taylor Ham. Now, I want to be clear about this. I'm going to stop you there, Dr. Sean Stein-Smith.
Starting point is 01:31:17 We've settled it. It's pork roll. This isn't an open dialogue. Yeah, this isn't a dialogue. We don't go back and forth. There's some notes and et cetera, but it's not. It's covered. What are we doing?
Starting point is 01:31:28 Yeah. It's like the end of a trial. It's done. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And it's at the highest court. Yeah, and like at a court, we will do the trial again for $10,000. So if you want to PayPal us $10,000, we will actually just say what you want us to say. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:31:45 But also we might not. Yeah, we'll take the money and then we'll think about it. We might forget what you said and we might just say whatever. Yeah, for sure. Good stuff. Yeah, absolutely. That's fun. Yes.
Starting point is 01:31:58 I got one more here from Kalinus who says, Hey, James, as the foremost expert on anime that you are, that's true, I'm glad this is known, I was surprised during your discussion of the pirate media that you never brought up one piece, the best-selling comic of all time featuring pirates. It just seemed obvious. It's like being like, oh, what's your favorite Batman movie? Ooh, The Dark Knight.
Starting point is 01:32:22 Yeah, we know. Pete's performance alone. Yeah, exactly. But I think that movie is good beyond that. But, we know. Heath Ledger's performance alone. Yeah, exactly. But I think that movie's good beyond that. But, you know, it's like, come on. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's boring. And I'm not boring.
Starting point is 01:32:32 That's right. I'm unique and interesting. That's right. One piece, King of the Pirates, the pirate man with his little hat. He's got that straw hat probably. He's always running it, isn't he? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Got any more?
Starting point is 01:32:42 Look, I've got, here's one more regional debate. Okay. I think we should settle this here's one more regional debate. Okay. I think we should settle this. This one is Australia-specific. Yep. I think we should settle this once and for all. This is a potato cake one. Yes, it is.
Starting point is 01:32:51 Okay, here we go. Absolutely is. You know what it was. Oh, I know. This is the biggest controversy in Australia besides everything else. This is from Nathan. Hey, guys, I think we need to sort out our own Australian food terminology before taking on other countries' issues.
Starting point is 01:33:04 My girlfriend is Victorian and I'm from Queensland. She calls the battered and fried potato slice things you get from a fish and chip shop potato cakes. I call them potato scallops. My argument is that to scallop something is to thinly slice it. Hence, a thinly sliced potato is a potato scallop. Cake is generally not thin, so it's not a potato cake. I hope you guys agree with me and my respect for the show can be maintained.
Starting point is 01:33:24 My regards, Nathan. That's a potato cake. Yeah, that's agree with me and my respect for the show can be maintained. Kind regards, Nathan. No, it's a potato cake. Yeah, that's a pretty compelling argument that you would make. But no. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, that's no. No. It's just not true.
Starting point is 01:33:33 Because they're called potato cakes. Yeah, that's what they're called. It'd be like, well, the car's got wheels, so they should call it a four-wheely machine. I mean, logically, sure, but it's already been called a car. It's called a different thing. It's called a different thing, so we're just going to say what it's called. Exactly.
Starting point is 01:33:49 Which is a potato cake. Yeah. Settled. I need a gavel. I'm going to bring in a gavel next week. I would love you to bring in a gavel. Again, you can send us $10,000. And we'll re-litigate this.
Starting point is 01:33:58 We'll say it's Potato Scullop, but it's not. It has to be in US dollars. We don't want some junk currency. Exactly right. You know what I mean? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And there we go. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:34:08 We're always settling disputes. We're always bringing in hot takes. Yeah, if you've got regional disputes, they don't have to be out for food, think about anything. That's right. Yeah. You could be like, this movie, what's it called or whatever.
Starting point is 01:34:19 Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll tell you. Yeah, that's true, yeah. I'll tell you what it's called. That's undeniable. We'll figure it out. So you would just email in and say the name of a movie and ask us what the name of the movie is.
Starting point is 01:34:31 Well, maybe if you're like Captain America was called the first Avenger when it was released in the UK, but it wasn't in other parts of the globe, what would you refer to it as? To answer your question, it's the other thing. Yeah. It's the Captain America thing. That's right.
Starting point is 01:34:43 Yeah, isn't it? Yes. Okay. Let's get out of here. The more It's the Captain America thing. That's right. Yeah, isn't it? Yes. Okay. Let's get out of here. The more regional, the better as well. Oh, you want specific. Like, maybe you have a dispute with your neighbor over something, right? Oh, wow.
Starting point is 01:34:53 Yeah. I'll determine whether, you know, you have to trim that tree if it's coming over your side of the fence, you know? But I would also say just do what you want. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And maybe, like, you know, vandalise his house or something. Yeah, that's fine. Or a joke.
Starting point is 01:35:09 Yeah, as a prank in Minecraft. In Minecraft. Do it in Minecraft. Build a replica of his house in Minecraft and vandalise it. Yeah. Do a Let's Play that's said in the link. Maybe like, you're next, mate. You're bloody next, mate.
Starting point is 01:35:22 In Minecraft, though. Just in Minecraft. Yeah, this is Minecraft don't remember it good stuff folks thank you everybody so much for listening shame we didn't
Starting point is 01:35:29 get to Snake Eyes but maybe next week maybe no we'll do it well I mean potentially we could be talking about
Starting point is 01:35:35 Ghostbusters Afterlife oh yeah but maybe we watch that it's not great yep but we have watched Snake Eyes
Starting point is 01:35:42 and we think that is worth talking about we have an opinion about Snake Eyes so maybe think that is worth talking about. We have an opinion about Snake Eyes. So maybe we do. All right, how about this? Yep. We'll do Snake Eyes unless there's so much worth talking about in Ghostbusters
Starting point is 01:35:54 Afterlife, we'll do Ghostbusters Afterlife. I just said earlier that I'm fucking sick of Ghostbusters, didn't I? Oh, then Snake Eyes it is. And then I'm doing Ghostbusters. I mean, I might be. Yeah, yeah. Obviously, Snake Eyes takes priority. Yeah, yeah.

Starting point is 01:36:48 of science fiction and fantasy. That's fun. And this is from RuckSquad, all caps. Nice. Five stars. What are you, some kind of the weekly planets or something? James and Maiso were there for me when I was literally home alone too, lost in New York making returns

Their commentary on movies is so funny and even though I disagree with most of their takes I'm always waiting for the next episode to come out. If they're

Your boy is from Connecticut, which is closer than Australia, but still an eight-hour drive-around trip. Okay, bye. Do you think that was Christopher Nolan?

Henry Golding is in it. That's right. Other people are in it, presumably. What do you love about the movie?
Starting point is 01:40:10 Oh, then we'll save it. We'll save it. Yeah, I don't want to give a single opinion because they are incendiary, my opinions, on the movie Snake Eyes. Yeah, oh, man. You know? Oh, man, remember that?
Starting point is 01:40:21 Oh, I won't even. I won't even say whether I remember it or not. Even if you said what it was, which you won't. That's right. Anyways, thanks for listening. We genuinely appreciate it. Grabbed our jam, you guys. We'll see you next week.
Starting point is 01:40:33 And goodbye. Snake Eyes. Snake Eyes. Two Snake Guys talking about two Snake Eyes that we see in the movie Snake Eyes. And to be clear, it's not the Nicolas Cage movie Snake Eyes. Oh, shit. What have you been watching? I'm joking.
